Dienophile, N-Methylmaleimide
For this study, each group had the same dienophile, N methylmaleimide, but different dienes,
anthracene 9 methanol or anthracene 9 carboxaldehyde. Initial reaction conducted with anthracene 9
methanol and N methylmaleimide was successful in generating a generous amount of product;
however, due to errors performed during the purification method by recrystallization, some product
was lost, thereby resulting in a low yield. Upon completion of the reaction, the Diels Alder adduct was
subjected to analysis by NMR spectroscopy, specifically, Proton NMR. The percent yield of this
reaction was expected to be high, however, the reaction yielded a percent yield of 4.88%, which is
significantly low. Typically, a low percent yield is an indication of an inefficient reaction; however, in
this case, this cannot be concluded due to errors that occurred during the reaction. Theoretically,
dienophiles and dienes can have different electron donating and electron withdrawing substituents,
thereby changing either can impact the percent yield of the reaction. An electron donating substituents
on the diene will increase the percent yield as the chances of the reaction occurring is increased with
the increase in the number of electron donating groups. The Reverse is true for dienophiles, as an
increase in the number of electron withdrawing groups with lower the energy in the ... Show more

Intelligence In Flowers For Algernon
In the novel Flowers for Algernon , by Daniel Keyes, A 37 year old man, named Charlie Gordon, has a
below average IQ and undergoes an experiment to increase his intelligence. After taking part in the
experiment, Charlie s intellect gradually increases until he is a genius. Charlie, slowly matures
mentally and starts to really live and fully experience his adulthood. However, near the end of the
story, his IQ decreases right back to where he started. The experiment enabled Charlie to understand
his past, see the world as it is and feel complex emotions. Participating in the experiment gave Charlie
the ability to really feel and understand himself and the world, it was definitely worth it. To begin
with, Charlie loses his ignorance/naiveness and is able to make his own judgment of the world and it s
people. I had reached a new level and anger and suspicion were my first reactions to the world around
me. This quote comes from the early stages of the experiment showing how quickly Charlie s eyes
were opened to the real world. He begins to question his doctors which pre experiment he referred to
as gods . Later on in the experiment Charlie realizes how basic the college student conversations are;
conversations he onced wished he could be part of, writing Strange how when I m in the college
cafeteria and hear the students arguing about history or politics or religion... I find no pleasure in
discussing ideas on such an elementary level. This questioning

The Application Of Non Living Things Could Be Protected...
Introduction:
Non living things could be protected from pathogens by defence chemicals in the form of disinfectants
which are applied thinly on the objects and surfaces. For living things, their defence from pathogens
comes in the form of antibiotics and antiseptics, the former given intravenously or through oral
administration and the latter applied on the skin whatever the indented purpose may be but does still
meet the defence required if applied in the right doses(Lee et al).
Pathogens on the surface are eliminated physically by disinfectants. The mode of operation comes in
the form of chemicals, diluted or undiluted for cleaning and by heating; we have noticed this process
used in the milk preservation through pasteurisation whereby milk is heated at a very high temperature
to kill pathogens. The application of disinfectants varies widely in use for the different settings. For
healthcare cleaning to control and keep out pathogens, ethanol is the number one choice used to
disinfect and sanitise floors, operation surfaces and surfaces touched the most by people like doors
and door closing aids. The liquid based disinfectant normally gets rid of bacteria if it is in the right
dilutions or measurements. There are iodine and chlorine based disinfectants both targeting pathogens.
The latter is generally used in water treatment and food hygiene and the former widely used for
making surgical instruments to render them free from pathogens, thus sterilisation. Antimicrobial

Christianity And Its Impact On The Development Of...
Christianity was born and flourished in an empire where the common language was Latin and Greek.
Two important people like Paul and Constantine further influenced and were a major part of the
development of Christianity. The history of the Jews leading up to the time of Jesus had a major
impact on the development of Christianity. When Christianity was clearly identified as a distant
religion, the new religion was considered by its members to be the fulfillment of Judaism rather than a
new religion. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to the Jews, Christianity was closely linked to
Judaism. The development of Christianity was due to several historical, political, and social
circumstances.
The ministry of Jesus brought about a new religion: Christianity. Jesus teachings were apocalyptic in
that he preached the nearness of the Kingdom of God. He also taught, To love your neighbor as
yourself Mark 12:31[NIV]. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to Jews, Christianity was closely
linked to Judaism. Early Christian missionaries, being Jews, interacted at first with the Jewish
communities in the empire s cities. This was only natural and gave them common ground with other
groups in the provinces in which Jews were a minority. Among the Jews, however, resistance to Jesus
being the Messiah was often encountered, and early on, the Christians or the church gained converts
from non Jews. Christianity in its early stages used the Jewish synagogues, allowing it access

Moon Landing Dbq
On May 25, 1961 President John F. Kennedy paved the way for the world s first lunar landing when
he announced the US s ambitious goal to place an American on the moon before the end of the decade.
This historic announcement was fueled by desires to beat the Soviet Union, and show the United State
s dominance, the need for a uniting cause among the American people, and a desire to lead the world
in the scientific field.
I am sure many questions were asked including, how will we do this, do we have the resources, and is
there enough time. Interestingly enough, there was actually much debate as to whether it really was a
good idea for the US to put such emphasis on sending a man to the moon. Many scientists questioned
the decision, and

Historical Heritage And Regional Identity
When does the symbol of someone s historical heritage and regional identity become unacceptable
due to the same symbol being found offensive and representative of the oppressed heritage of
someone else? Recently at the University of Mississippi the topic as to continue flying the state flag
was put to a vote. The Associated Student Body voted to remove the flag from any and all buildings
on campus; the chancellor ultimately decided that the Associated Student Body was right in this
decision. The appropriateness of the Confederate flag has become a major point of dispute in this
country. In the state of Mississippi, however, the argument is complicated by the fact that the state flag
itself incorporates the Confederate flag into its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people believe it s preventing businesses and athletes from coming to our state, and that it s
time for a change. The critics of the state flag have pushed for the Confederate symbol to be removed
from the state flag for many years before it became a hot topic at the University of Mississippi. People
who oppose the current state flag believe the Confederate design embodies the evil that was the
southern states before and during the Civil War (International Business Times). Mississippi is one of
the last states, which were a part of the Confederate States of America; to remove the Confederate
symbols from representative objects (Confederate Flag Debate CNN). The University of Mississippi is
the fourth college in the state to stop flying the state flag on campus (Ole Miss Student Senate).
The symbol of the Confederate Battle Flag has been adopted as a representation of groups who resort
to nefarious actions to promote a malicious agenda. The original intent of promoting the heritage
represented by the flag has been replaced by racist and oppressive actions perpetuated by its banner.
Many people have had negative experiences with the Confederate symbol. One man recounts a time

years old watching Ku Klux Klan members entomb an acquaintance while carrying the Confederate

How Did Marilyn Monroe Effect On Society
Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer who became a sex symbol and rose to
prominence in the time period of 1946 1962. Monroe rose to prominence for her role in movies, her
marriage to Joe DiMaggio and the theories surrounding her death. However, it is beyond doubt that
without Monroe`s affair with John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) she would not have been so prominent
in American society. At the time, JFK was the President of the United States which is why the affair
was so widely known and reported on.
Marilyn Monroe married Joe DiMaggio in January 1954 and their marriage soon ended in October
1954. Joe DiMaggio was a famous baseball player who helped the New York Yankees to nine World
Series titles. It is evident that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
JFK was the American President at the time of their affair. Many photographs were captured of them

starting to realize what was happening between JFK and Monroe through the media who were
tracking their every move. This can be seen in `The daily mail`s` article about the madness of Marilyn
Monroe, in which Philip Watson states, there was no question in my mind that Marilyn and the
president were together. Monroe was invited to a dinner party which was held to honor the President.
In `The Daily Mail`s` article, Arlene Dahl who was present at the party said, the President turned
around and you could see that he was immediately attracted to her. This proves that there was
something going on between the pair. The pair appeared in magazines which often talked about
rumors of an affair between them. This helped her rise to prominence because it put her name out
there and people were curious to find out the truth which meant she was commonly talked

Colerick and Fazio tests. I used the data from each case to derive the number of hours of driving

the job multiplied by the cost per real hours was one part of the economic value in use. The other
portion was the cost of the asbestos pads for each project.

The players in this segment are likely to be the larger international construction contractors like
Conmaco and Raymond International, as well as larger independent pile driving firms. The market can
be segmented by benefit because there are those consumers or purchase influencers who look at the
impact the pads can have from an engineering standpoint. Because CMI pads transfer the energy from
the pile more efficiently they were less likely to result in damage to the pile that may affect the
integrity of the foundation. The players that would be in this segment would be the architectural and
consulting groups, as well as the more sophisticated of the larger engineering/construction contractors.
There is a second benefit segment that you can identify as well. This group would be defined by there
need or want for a safer work environment. The use of asbestos pads would be undesirable to this
segment, and would be more likely to choose the CMI pads. This segment would be harder to identify
because they would be spread out amongst the different size firms. It is likely that at the time of the
case larger firms were not yet concerned about the major litigation issues surrounding the use of
asbestos. Since it is most likely site workers that would be identified in this segment it is likely that
smaller firms were the principle is on site at the projects would be the major part of the

Divorce Impact On Divorce
The Family Law Act 1975 (cth) defines divorce as the termination of a marriage otherwise than by the
death of a party to the marriage. The concept of divorce and marriage has dramatically altered as the
values and beliefs of society has changed, starting with the abolishment of the fault divorce system in
1975, to the creation of online divorce kits by the Federal Magistrates Courts in 2004. While prior to
the Family Law Act 1975 (cth), divorce could be considered too difficult to attain, today it is
considered too easy to divorce. However, the process of marriage is seen as overcomplicated,
requiring multiple prerequisites to be considered legal. When compared to the relatively difficult
process of marriage, divorce can be considered too easy to attain, as a result impacting the lives of
unhappily married couples and their families throughout Australia.
The definition of marriage, as stated in the Marriage Act 1961 (cth), specifies that for a couple to
attain marriage, there needs to be a union
1. Of a man and a woman
2. That excludes all others
3. That is voluntarily entered into
4. For life
There are also a number of requirements for before, during and after the ceremony. It must be proven
that the betrothed couple are not ancestors or descendants and that, unless the situation is specifically
reviewed by the court, neither party is under the age of 18. On the day of the marriage, three
certificates must be signed by the couple, two witnesses and an authorised

Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far

in the book as The verse that belongs to us by Reverend Groover. I found this to be one of the most
pivotal moments in the book. This story contains the lives of those who, in a sense have been left
behind and discarded. Like the man behind the story, of the song Amazing Grace, Jonathan Kozol
portrays the heart breaking reality of a population left behind and forgotten, that is until now. The
realities of how the children, parents and grandparents cope with their situations, sheds light on some
very ugly truths. Jonathan provides his readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Verkerk s FMR1 Genetic Disorder
INTRODUCTION
Verkerk discovered the fragile X mental retardation 1 (FMR1) gene in 1991, in individuals with a
chromosomal instability at the 5 untranslated exon 1 on the long arm of the X chromosome (Xq27.3),
a location closely related to autoimmunity (Verkerk et al., 1991). The position of this unstable region
in a non coding exon is a typical trait shared by other nucleotide repeat disorders, even though the
reason of such association remains unknown. At present, more than 30 genetic disorders, often and
curiously presenting with neurological impairment, share an altered number of repeated nucleotides,
albeit the FMR1 gene mutation is undoubtedly the most studied. A CGG triplet repeat expansion
characterizes the FMR1 gene mutation. Although belonging to the genetic conditions ... Show more

It is widely acknowledged that the X chromosome instability at Xq27.3 originates by a dynamic
mutation with a variable expansion of a trinucleotide (CGG) repeat (Budworth and McMurray, 2013).
This gene instability seems to rely in the loss of AGG triplet inserts commonly identified every 9 10
CGG triplets (Dombrowski et al., 2002). These AGG triplet repeats, accountable for alleles stability of
the CGG expansion, may deeply influence the risk of full mutation, as in individuals carrying the
same number of CGG repeats, such risk shows a 10 fold increase. The AGG inserts may then
influence the remodelling phenomena essential for the modulation of the neurosignals, as they limit
the further expansion of the CGG repeats (Eichler et al., 1994). Microsatellites and triplet repeats
probably contribute, during the adaptive evolution, to the species diversity, thus representing a central
mutational event (Kashi and King,

Pygmalion Movie Vs Play
Imagine growing up and having to sell flowers on the street to anyone who passes to make a living.
Eliza Doolittle is a person who had live this way until Henry Higgins and Colonel
Pickering took her under their wings and transformed her old, dirty, and informal self into a fine lady.
To do so Eliza has to learn how to speak proper and get rid of her nasty old ways. However, after she
is transformed she knows not what is to become of her, but she realizes she does not have to put up
with Higgins anymore. The film and the play compare and contrast in different ways through the use
of music and the characters actions towards one another. Throughout the play there was very little

Also,
Higgins and Eliza have moments where they begin to sing about the short lines Higgins has Eliza
reading in order to improve her pronunciation (Levin, 1964). Therefore, the play and the film contrast
with the use of music because the book does not implement the musical approach as the film does.
On the other hand, the characters in Pygmalion and My Fair Lady perform both similar and different
actions compared to one or the other. Additionally, however both the play and the film mostly shared
similar actions rather than being unalike. For example, Eliza says in the final act of the play that
Pickering treats a flower girl as if she was a duchess (Shaw, 1916,
PYGMALION AND MY FAIR LADY COMPARISON 4
p.g. 83). Therefore, throughout both Pickering was always very respectful to Eliza and treated her how
any woman would want to be treated. On the other hand, Higgins did not treat Eliza with the respect
she thought that she deserved and this made her angry in both the film and the play. When she realizes
this completely in the play she tells him So you are a motor bus: all bounce and go, and no

Social Convention and Samuel Butler s Erewhon
Social Convention and Samuel Butler s Erewhon
There are many conceivable explanations that have the potential to
rationalize the preservation of society through time. These
explanations clarify the fact that society, since its inception, has
continued to exist. I assert that the precise reason for this
self perpetuation is convention, and moreover, that convention
encompasses all of the other possible explanations for this
continuance. Yet this conclusion merely follows from proper
distinctions of terminology. Real profundity stems from the
examination of convention in relation to individuals who follow it. I
find that many individuals are not cognizant of the fact that society
rests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, convention is a requirement of society.
Members of a given society must agree upon basic principles to be able
to share them. In American society, the use of English as a common
language, the use of dollars as an exchange for goods and services and
the use of traffic lights as a means for order are all conventions.
Mostly everyone who drives agrees that when a traffic light is red, it
means stop. When people stop following this convention, car accidents
occur. On a much broader scale, if people stopped following the
conventions of English as a common language and dollars as an exchange
for goods and services, American society would fall apart.
When usually speaking about convention and society, individuals
usually converse about religion and hand shaking, not language. Yet
one must realize that language is just as much a convention as hand
shaking is. Language is a general agreement about basic principle,
how to communicate verbally. Furthermore, I assert that religion and
hand shaking are not essential elements of the framework of American
society while English and dollars are. This distinction is often
overlooked and must be clarified.

Free Trade Vs Fair Trade
Introduction
Adam Smith, author of The Wealth of Nations, shows support for free trade and emphasises it as a
trade policy which ought to be adopted. Krugman and Obstfeld back Smith s support by stating that
the efficiency of trade is increased by free trade and accumulates the national income of countries.
Free trade is a theory which suggests that each nation benefits in specialising in an economic activity
from which it gains absolute advantage, enjoying absolute superiority over other nations in a specif
economical activity (Peng). With free trade follows opportunity, replacing regulation and growth of
economic activity. (Rugmann and Collinson).

McDonald and Burton clarify that infant industries can feel supported into growth (and sometimes
beyond) by the trade policy of protectionism and tariff barriers. This form of strategic protectionism
enables industries seeking to grow to enjoy the benefits of first mover advantages, a concept of
specialising in producing and exporting only those goods and services which it can produce more
efficiently (Investopedia) and the benefits of economies of scales. A prime example of this is Amazon,
the first online bookstore. By gaining the first mover advantage into the markets, it has gained and
maintained dominance over many firms. Firms have adopted the concepts and practices such as
retailers like Barnes and Nobles. Professer Marvin Lieberman and David Montgomery, Stanford
University, conclude that first mover advantage can be gained from technology leadership, control of
resources and buyer switching costs after gaining the opportunity to access the pioneering stage of a
concept.
Free Trading Areas
Free trade areas, FTA, are economic integration arrangements in which barriers to trade (e.g. tariffs),
exchange of goods and information among member nations are removed. It is arguable to say that fair
trade aims to create equilibrium between LEDC s, less economically developed countries and
developed nations in terms of trading activities and ethics. In saying this, free trading between more
economically developed countries and LEDC s will mean

Trench Conditions In Ww1 Essay
Early on in World War 1, protection for troops became a vital aspect of war as a result of the increased
power, accuracy and precision of newly developed weapons. Armies began to dig large corridors in
the ground that became known as trenches. Originally thought to only be a temporary defensive tactic
soon became a primary part of warfare. However, the conditions in the trenches became harsh and
unsanitary due to battle raging around them and the lack of previsions. As a result, illness and disease
spread rapidly and the reality of war as well as the traumatic experiences soldiers faced impacted
troops in the short and long term. As trenches became a more frequent tactic, the simple design was
improved and adjusted to suit the troops, area and task that it would be used for. They became a very
important part of tactical warfare and some layouts could be very complex. Trenches were first used
on the Western Front by both opposing sides. Due to severe exhaustion, dwindling resources and the
horrific death toll, both sides dug into the ground and assumed a defensive post. Most trenches were
dug deep enough that men couldn t be seen from above. Troops were then ordered to seek momentary
cover in the trenches (FIGURE 1) however eventually it became their permanent front line. ... Show

The Federal Reserve System Essay
The Federal Reserve System
Even before the creation of the Federal Reserve, banks were used by the public just as we use them
today. Deposits were made into savings accounts. Loans were taken out to mortgage a home or
finance a new business. Banknotes were issued and spent when the public borrowed from the banks.
Borrowers spent these banknotes just as paper money is spent today. These bank notes were valued as
money since they were backed by the promise that they would be exchanged on demand for either
gold or silver.
There was the occasionally belief on behalf of the public that banks would not be able to, or outright
refuse to honor their banknotes. This fear, if held by enough of a community, could lead to a run on

These actions led to the fall in prices of securities. Loans were liquidated and borrowing from banks
and other lenders became difficult. Interest rates would rise rapidly and sharply. This type of financial
hardship led to the liquidation of bank credit. Over a long enough span, this liquidation would lead to
money crises (Federal Reserve System 5th ed pp. 10 11). These periods of financial panics along with
the inelastic money supply had long beleaguered the country. Bank failures, business bankruptcies,
and unstable economic development were results of the lack of a central banking system (Federal
Reserve System 8th ed. pp. 6 7). The Panic of 1907 was a bank run of epic proportions that
exacerbated the problem. Depositors withdrew their savings from the second and third largest banks in
the country. These banks were not able to generate enough funds to cover the demand and
subsequently closed their doors. Their closings rapidly spread fear across the country leading to one of
the largest runs on the banks the nation had ever witnessed (Schlesinger pp. 41).
Fortunately, J.P. Morgan, the exorbitantly rich New York businessman came to the aid of the financial

assured their savings were protected and could be withdrawn whenever they wanted. The demand

Police Brutality And The Laws Of The Nation And Protect...
Police offers are surpots to uphold the laws of the nation and protect the citizens of their nation from
harm, but that is not always the case. Throughout history, the ones that are designated to protect the
public the one are harming the public. When the police abuse their power, it is not uncommon for
them just to look the other way and not charge the other office of any crime. In the United States the
defining of police brutality is the wanton use of excessive force, this could be physical, verbal attacks
and psychological intimidation, by a police officer. Often times, the victims of police brutality are
arrested for a crime, not the police officer; it is not until the citizen become aware of the brutality and

King was then cuffed and arrested for Driving while under the influence (DUI) and fleeing for the

This would have just been another incident between the Los Angeles police department and an
uncooperative suspect if it were not for George Holliday. George Holiday (Holiday) was living in an
apartment near the intersection of Foothill Blvd and Osborne St. in Lake View Terrace when heard
something going on outside and got his camcorder at that time he filmed violent beating. The first 13

The next minute and half, King are beaten with batons, being kicked repeatedly and even tasered

Code Talkers Summary
Remember back in elementary school when friends of yours would create a language or signs to have
a conversation without anyone knowing what you are talking about? Well, Code Talkers is very
similar to creating a code in school, but more intense and heightened. William R. Wilson, a writer and
photographer goes in debt to explain how the Navajo language was brought to serve as a new code in
the U.S. Military in World War II. He also writes about who the military has to use to interpret and
send out messages for militia combat plans. The author does an exceptional job at being very clear and
informative in this article.
The article first starts to discuss how the beginning of World War II was declining fast for the United
States after being hit at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. U.S. Armed Force Officials realized the
communications between branches of military and allies were being intercepted by Japanese
cryptologers. Phillip Johnston, a civil engineer soon came to the conclusion of using Navajo Indians
language as a code for militia communication. Navajos were trained by Marine staff officers to learn
and understand the utmost important tactics of military communication. After ... Show more content

What Is The Spiritual Path Essay
I have walked the spiritual path for 30 years, and I have been studying various spiritual teachings. I
have also been involved with several organizations and spiritual teachers. I have friends who have
been involved with more teachers, and I ve watched hundreds of people have been struggling with a
spiritual path. Based on my experience and observation, I have come to one conclusion is clear. The
difference between those who succeed on the spiritual path and those who continue to struggle with
the frustration is how they view the concept of teachers.
Push button mentality If you take a step back and see the big picture, the essence of the spiritual path
(or life, really) is to come out of ignorance and into understanding, out of the darkness and into terang
in mind, that is. There is an old adage that states, if people knew better, they would do better. I believe

Why do people feel frustrated As well programmed our customers, we choose products that look
attractive to us and eagerly began to consume it. But after a while usually a short time we started to
feel like someone who has flipped the switch, but the light has not come. So we keep on flipping the
switch on and off, and while we could hear the click, the light will not come. This is usually when we
start to feel frustrated, and we may even take it out on the teacher or teaching that does not seem to
work.
I personally have felt this frustration and I have seen in many others. It is quite understandable,
especially when one considers that so many teachers or organizations who make promises they can not
deliver. They have also been caught up in a consumer s approach to spiritual growth, and they have
either consciously or intentionally decided to tell people what they want to hear. So what do we do?
Well, some people give up there and never tried again. Yet most of us do not give up

The Tasks Of A Freelancer
As 16th April is observed as Stress Awareness Day and April as Stress Awareness Month, I wish to
share a few tips that can help you all, specifically freelancers, to lead a stress free and happy life.
Nevertheless, stress is often contemplated as negative feeling, but preparing yourself to reducing and
pacing with it is the gateway to many great opportunities.
The tasks of a freelancer, is a slackly defined amalgam of projects, tasks, time, and a plethora of other
responsibilities to stretch you in all direction possible. There are times, it often happens to me, when it
all gets too much to handle and you burry under the weight of what seems to be almost impossible.
Any freelancer at some stage of his/her career is going to encounter such situation. But such moments
of anxiety are like water bubbles which fade away instantly. To alleviate stress and remain focused on
your business you can do a lot in your daily life. Here are some tips that have always worked as
panacea for me.
1. Optimistic Thinking: Positive thinking is a powerful weapon in weeding out the negative vibes.
Going Orwellian is not the solution, it means you appropriately address the negative and emphasize
the positive.
2. Take it lightly: Most of your worries are not within your control, especially if you are a freelancer.
Let the worries go. There is no point of worrying over something that is beyond your territory.
3. Relax: Take time off your schedule to learn some relaxation techniques and

Tetracycline Research Paper
Information on the Broad Category of Tetracycline s
With a Focus on Minocycline as Related to Acne
Introduction
Many adolescence struggle with a poor self image due to changes going on in the body during
puberty. While there are differences in how boys become men and girls become women there is one
issue the both groups struggle with, acne. According to the American Academy of Dermatology acne
effects up to 50 million Americans annually and approximately 84% of people between the ages of 12
and 24 experience at least minor acne (AAD). With these numbers it is clear that acne is something
that many people struggle with. Thankfully medications in the form or creams, face washes, and even
pills have been manufactured to combat acne and its effects on the skin. This paper focuses on one
specific, oral, form of acne medication called Minocycline.
The Drug Minocycline is one of many medications that falls under a broad category of anti infectives
known as Tetracycline s. Tetracycline s inhibit protein synthesis at the level of the 30S bacterial

medications should be kept out of the reach of children. Minocycline is usually given in the form of an
extended release tablet and is to be taken twice a day on an empty stomach to increase absorption

What Does The Lamb Mean
William Blake s The Lamb aims to show an innocent way of looking at the world. The narrator of The
Lamb is asking if the lamb knows who made it, and does so in a way that suggests that whomever
created the lamb is kind, and loves their creation. Gave thee life...bid thee feed...clothing of delight...
These things, when seen from the side of innocence, seem to be gifts to the lamb; things its creator
blessed it with. However, the narrator fails to see a lot of the meaning that their own words have. The
lamb was given life and fed well so that it could grow and be killed for food later. The narrator states
that the lamb s creator, Jesus, also is called a lamb, for he is meek and mild , but fails to see why such

comparing them to the brightness and colors of flowers, puts her worldview slightly closer to The

The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay
The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East
The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get
anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force of
your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam
Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was
established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was
hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on.

Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel
shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes
(Regan 22).
The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which
was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to
find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with
the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some
reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not
to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not.
From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one
side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the violence, Israel
passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel
who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). However that did not appear
to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On October 14, 1956 Egyptian
President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in talking about peace with Israel.

The Causes Of The Failure Of Capitalism In The Jungle By...
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair was written to expose the brutality faced by the workers in the
meatpacking industry. He wanted to show people what was really going on in the factory because few
people were informed about these companies work conditions . He wanted to show the public that
meat was diseased, rotten, and contaminated. This revelation shocked the public which later led to the
creation of the federal laws on food and safety. Sinclair strongly shows the failure of capitalism in the
meatpacking industry which he viewed as inhuman, destructive, unjust, brutal, and violent.
(Middlebury) Sinclair was an American writer born in Baltimore. He was struggling to live a basic
life, and he started reading about socialism. He believed that America would vote for peaceful
negations , So the government will take ownership of its business. He then joined the socialist party in
1903, He began to write for the company Appeal To Reason which was a socialist magazine. The meat
packing company workers went on strikes, the strikes broke quickly because the company replaced the
workers. This, kept the line running and the other families became Impoverished . After this incident ,
the Appeal to Reason suggested him to write about the strikes. He went to Chicago to research about
the conditions of the workers, and he personally interviewed the workers in the factories . Later his
writing became very famous and contained obvious basia. The effect of these books led Roosevelt

Compare And Contrasting Fama s Articles

development of EMH during the 1970 to 1991 period. Firstly, it provides the reader to a short
introduction to the EMH and to comparison the major changes between two articles. Thereafter, the
main focus will be concentrated on second article and its critical evaluation of results obtained. The
main purpose of the capital market is to provide the investors with accurate signals for resource

the opportunity to make production investment decisions. Such markets are also called the efficient . A
precondition for this is that information and trading costs equal to 0. Moreover, the joint hypothesis

form is based on the historical data of the stock prices. The semi strong form tests how efficiently
prices adapt to the publically available information. The third form is concerned whether any given

Arguments In Defense Of Ethical Relativism
1. Ethical Relativism is the moral theory that there are no absolute standards of Ethics. It looks at
notions of right or wrong as dependent upon an individual s interpretations, this is subjectivism, which
regards morality as personal resolutions. Ethical Relativism contends that morals are also culturally
based. Conventionalism, is the notion that morals are given value only within the context of social
expectations. The Diversity Thesis depends on the Anthropological fact that different societies have
differing moral codes. Furthermore, moralities are fluctuate as societies and people evolve. Therefore,
in Ethical Relativism, there are no universally valid moral standards and all ethical principles are
measured to be equally acceptable, as there are no moral principles that apply to all people at all times.

Personal Experience Of Meditation And Meditation Sessions
I ended up sitting directly in front of a statue, which completely obstructed my view, but that was ok
since we spent a good deal of our time meditating with our eyes closed. This was the first time (other
than in Greg s morning yoga and meditation sessions, which I had only been to a handful of times)
that I had ever really meditated with the intention to practice Buddhism. I don t really know what I
expected, but this indeed was different. The personal experience of meditating (and chanting) was
different than I expected. It was hard. Back at the Eco Lodge, (where we had class and morning
meditation) we would meditate for ten, maybe fifteen minutes maximum and there were only ever ten
other people in the room. Here, we were meditating for over a half hour and there were easily 100
other people here. I had a really hard time trying to stay focused on my breathing and trying to stay in
the proper posture and seated position for that length of time. Also, there was something about the
amount of people that were there and the whole realness and holiness of it all that made me quite
anxious. While in the village, I also had the opportunity to go to and participate in a temple festival.
This was unlike anything I have ever done before in my life. A parade of cars stretching five miles
deep drove through the Northern Thai countryside until finally coming up on what seemed to be a
Buddhist temple in front of a giant field. Hundreds of people quickly emerged from the cars and ran

Gung Ho
Gung Ho
I recently read Gung Ho! written by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles. This book gives a unique
perspective on the leader versus manager concepts. It depicts the struggles a General Manager faces as
she is given the daunting task of running Walton Works # 2. This book shows how motivation,
appreciation, and respect can help to transform a self destructive plant into a thriving successful
business.
While on the surface Peggy Sinclair, the General Manager, thought that she was being rewarded, it did
not take longer than one day on the job to realize she was being set up. She had authored a staff
study which concluded that Old Man Morris s new strategic plan had a fatal flaw (Blanchard 2).
Though he had admitted there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Andy believed that information is the gatekeeper to power. [He] wanted the team in charge, with the
power to make decisions and make things happen (Blanchard 112). The finishing department had
charts and reports hanging on the walls. Sharing this information allows for employees to know that
what they do impacts others and any safe time saving techniques they can develop or any time passing
with no injuries can positively affect the bottom line.
Andy and Peggy were transformational leaders. They inspire[d] people to do the unexpected, above
and beyond the plan (Kreitner 511). They wanted the employees to think outside the box and also to
be proud of the work they did each day. Taking pride in what they did improved the quality and
efficiency of the work and in turn helped to bolster morale throughout the plant.
A management style used in Gung Ho was delegation. Delegation is assigning various degrees of
decision making authority to lower level employees (Kreitner 337). When Walton Works #2 was going
through the process of achieving Gung Ho, there were many job responsibilities that the employees
absorbed. The employees had morning group motivational huddles. They would meet first thing in the

Equipoise In Research Essay
For clinical research to be considered ethical, the question it poses must be equipoise: in other words,
it must be in a state of genuine uncertainty (Freedman, 1987, p. 141). In the case of this study, the
question was definitely uncertain. Although the benefits of COX 2 inhibitors could be very real, the
question as to its affects on cardiovascular health was worth exploring. Thus, the study is equipoise in
it s seeking an answer to the very valid question: are COX 2 inhibitors worth using? Furthermore, to
add to the equipoise of a study, it is always better that preliminary studies are complete whose results
do not lean completely negatively or positively (Fries Krishnan, 2004, p. 250). In fact, in the debate
about equipoise in research, it has been noted that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this vast difference was not immediately apparent, thus making it ethical to continue with the study
until its close. The results of the study shed further light on the possible detriments of COX 2
inhibitors of rofecoxib, but leaving the question open ended for further research to see if these
detriments could possibly be outweighed by using other drugs in accordance with it. Considering the
uncertainty of its benefit and/or detriment, as well as the continued uncertainty posed at the close of

Solar energy is quite simply the energy produced directly by the sun. The sun creates its energy
through a thermonuclear process that converts about 650,000,000 tons of hydrogen to helium every
second. The process creates heat and electromagnetic radiation. The heat remains in the sun and is
instrumental in maintaining the thermonuclear reaction. The electromagnetic radiation (including

The Law Of Reflection And Snell s Law
We see optics in all types of instruments. Microscopes magnify extremely tiny objects so that they are
visible. Telescopes concentrate light from very distant objects to allow us to see extremely far away.
Glasses allow people with poor vison to see clearly. Some instruments use both lenses and mirrors
making them very powerful, but also complicated.
Optics is the study of how light interacts with other objects. In geometric optics light is assumed to
travel in a straight line except where it meets barriers. Depending on the material of the barrier the
light is either reflected (mirrors) or refracted (lenses). The angle at which this occurs is determined by
two laws, the law of reflection and Snell s law.

Xander J. Carter who was about to move out of his parents house. His family lived in Washington DC.
and he was planning to move to Richmond. He was moving to Richmond to start his own life by
himself and to meet up with some old friends. He had saved up enough money from working two part

had one bedroom that had a bathroom that was connected to both the bedroom and the hallway. It also
had a kitchen that was connected to his living room. The apartment was located at the end of the
apartment compilation on the second floor. The entrance to the apartment led into the living room

  • 2. Dienophile, N-Methylmaleimide For this study, each group had the same dienophile, N methylmaleimide, but different dienes, anthracene 9 methanol or anthracene 9 carboxaldehyde. Initial reaction conducted with anthracene 9 methanol and N methylmaleimide was successful in generating a generous amount of product; however, due to errors performed during the purification method by recrystallization, some product was lost, thereby resulting in a low yield. Upon completion of the reaction, the Diels Alder adduct was subjected to analysis by NMR spectroscopy, specifically, Proton NMR. The percent yield of this reaction was expected to be high, however, the reaction yielded a percent yield of 4.88%, which is significantly low. Typically, a low percent yield is an indication of an inefficient reaction; however, in this case, this cannot be concluded due to errors that occurred during the reaction. Intelligence In Flowers For Algernon In the novel Flowers for Algernon , by Daniel Keyes, A 37 year old man, named Charlie Gordon, has a below average IQ and undergoes an experiment to increase his intelligence. After taking part in the experiment, Charlie s intellect gradually increases until he is a genius. Charlie, slowly matures mentally and starts to really live and fully experience his adulthood. Participating in the experiment gave Charlie the ability to really feel and understand himself and the world, it was definitely worth it. To begin with, Charlie loses his ignorance/naiveness and is able to make his own judgment of the world and it s people. • 4. The Application Of Non Living Things Could Be Protected... Introduction: Non living things could be protected from pathogens by defence chemicals in the form of disinfectants which are applied thinly on the objects and surfaces. For living things, their defence from pathogens comes in the form of antibiotics and antiseptics, the former given intravenously or through oral administration and the latter applied on the skin whatever the indented purpose may be but does still meet the defence required if applied in the right doses(Lee et al). Pathogens on the surface are eliminated physically by disinfectants. The mode of operation comes in the form of chemicals, diluted or undiluted for cleaning and by heating; we have noticed this process used in the milk preservation through pasteurisation whereby milk is heated at a very high temperature to kill pathogens. The application of disinfectants varies widely in use for the different settings. For healthcare cleaning to control and keep out pathogens, ethanol is the number one choice used to disinfect and sanitise floors, operation surfaces and surfaces touched the most by people like doors and door closing aids. The liquid based disinfectant normally gets rid of bacteria if it is in the right dilutions or measurements. There are iodine and chlorine based disinfectants both targeting pathogens. The latter is generally used in water treatment and food hygiene and the former widely used for making surgical instruments to render them free from pathogens, thus sterilisation. Antimicrobial ... • 5. Christianity And Its Impact On The Development Of... Christianity was born and flourished in an empire where the common language was Latin and Greek. Two important people like Paul and Constantine further influenced and were a major part of the development of Christianity. The history of the Jews leading up to the time of Jesus had a major impact on the development of Christianity. When Christianity was clearly identified as a distant religion, the new religion was considered by its members to be the fulfillment of Judaism rather than a new religion. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to the Jews, Christianity was closely linked to Judaism. The development of Christianity was due to several historical, political, and social circumstances. The ministry of Jesus brought about a new religion: Christianity. Jesus teachings were apocalyptic in that he preached the nearness of the Kingdom of God. He also taught, To love your neighbor as yourself Mark 12:31[NIV]. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to Jews, Christianity was closely linked to Judaism. Early Christian missionaries, being Jews, interacted at first with the Jewish communities in the empire s cities. This was only natural and gave them common ground with other groups in the provinces in which Jews were a minority. Among the Jews, however, resistance to Jesus being the Messiah was often encountered, and early on, the Christians or the church gained converts from non Jews. This historic announcement was fueled by desires to beat the Soviet Union, and show the United State s dominance, the need for a uniting cause among the American people, and a desire to lead the world in the scientific field. I am sure many questions were asked including, how will we do this, do we have the resources, and is there enough time. The concept of divorce and marriage has dramatically altered as the values and beliefs of society has changed, starting with the abolishment of the fault divorce system in 1975, to the creation of online divorce kits by the Federal Magistrates Courts in 2004. While prior to the Family Law Act 1975 (cth), divorce could be considered too difficult to attain, today it is considered too easy to divorce. The position of this unstable region in a non coding exon is a typical trait shared by other nucleotide repeat disorders, even though the reason of such association remains unknown. At present, more than 30 genetic disorders, often and curiously presenting with neurological impairment, share an altered number of repeated nucleotides, albeit the FMR1 gene mutation is undoubtedly the most studied. A CGG triplet repeat expansion characterizes the FMR1 gene mutation. Although belonging to the genetic conditions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is widely acknowledged that the X chromosome instability at Xq27.3 originates by a dynamic mutation with a variable expansion of a trinucleotide (CGG) repeat (Budworth and McMurray, 2013). This gene instability seems to rely in the loss of AGG triplet inserts commonly identified every 9 10 CGG triplets (Dombrowski et al., 2002). These AGG triplet repeats, accountable for alleles stability of the CGG expansion, may deeply influence the risk of full mutation, as in individuals carrying the same number of CGG repeats, such risk shows a 10 fold increase. The AGG inserts may then influence the remodelling phenomena essential for the modulation of the neurosignals, as they limit the further expansion of the CGG repeats (Eichler et al., 1994). Microsatellites and triplet repeats probably contribute, during the adaptive evolution, to the species diversity, thus representing a central mutational event (Kashi and King, ... Trench Conditions In Ww1 Essay Early on in World War 1, protection for troops became a vital aspect of war as a result of the increased power, accuracy and precision of newly developed weapons. Armies began to dig large corridors in the ground that became known as trenches. Originally thought to only be a temporary defensive tactic soon became a primary part of warfare. However, the conditions in the trenches became harsh and unsanitary due to battle raging around them and the lack of previsions. As a result, illness and disease spread rapidly and the reality of war as well as the traumatic experiences soldiers faced impacted troops in the short and long term. As trenches became a more frequent tactic, the simple design was improved and adjusted to suit the troops, area and task that it would be used for. They became a very important part of tactical warfare and some layouts could be very complex. Trenches were first used on the Western Front by both opposing sides. Due to severe exhaustion, dwindling resources and the horrific death toll, both sides dug into the ground and assumed a defensive post. I have also been involved with several organizations and spiritual teachers. I have friends who have been involved with more teachers, and I ve watched hundreds of people have been struggling with a spiritual path. Based on my experience and observation, I have come to one conclusion is clear. The difference between those who succeed on the spiritual path and those who continue to struggle with the frustration is how they view the concept of teachers. Push button mentality If you take a step back and see the big picture, the essence of the spiritual path (or life, really) is to come out of ignorance and into understanding, out of the darkness and into terang in mind, that is. This is usually when we start to feel frustrated, and we may even take it out on the teacher or teaching that does not seem to work. I personally have felt this frustration and I have seen in many others. It is quite understandable, especially when one considers that so many teachers or organizations who make promises they can not deliver. The narrator of The Lamb is asking if the lamb knows who made it, and does so in a way that suggests that whomever created the lamb is kind, and loves their creation. Gave thee life...bid thee feed...clothing of delight... These things, when seen from the side of innocence, seem to be gifts to the lamb; things its creator blessed it with. However, the narrator fails to see a lot of the meaning that their own words have. The lamb was given life and fed well so that it could grow and be killed for food later. The Arab League Secretary Azzam Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was established. Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes (Regan 22). The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not. From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. Equipoise In Research Essay For clinical research to be considered ethical, the question it poses must be equipoise: in other words, it must be in a state of genuine uncertainty (Freedman, 1987, p. 141). In the case of this study, the question was definitely uncertain. Although the benefits of COX 2 inhibitors could be very real, the question as to its affects on cardiovascular health was worth exploring. Thus, the study is equipoise in it s seeking an answer to the very valid question: are COX 2 inhibitors worth using? Furthermore, to add to the equipoise of a study, it is always better that preliminary studies are complete whose results do not lean completely negatively or positively (Fries Krishnan, 2004, p. 250).
