Descriptive Personal Narrative Story
I had woke up to the tranquility of a Sunday night there was a slight breeze, It was May 29th, 2016
around eight p.m. I was alone and confused in a poorly, lit living room. I stared into these white walls
that were so bright it felt as if you were staring into snow, I was stuck and could only think, I just have
to organize all my things for tomorrow before I fall back asleep. I sat there on my couch tired from the
late night before. I felt time was ticking as the sun faded with each second, I prepped my things for
work the next morning. When I had finished with organizing my belongings I sat back onto my black
couch that was so stiff it felt as if you were laying on a walk board from a pier. The first thing I did

Are you sure it s her? Maybe they re just playing a joke? I don t know. You know how much of a bitch
Alexis is.
She s in every photo... like I think she s really dead... but how? Why?
Are you sure have you spoken to the family.
Gaspingly I replied, No, my mom is vacationing in Mexico. You know her family never liked me like
that. All I can do is call Isabel... and I don t want to ask if our own cousin is dead I feel like such an
asshole.
Carlos angrily replied, How if they don t involve you in anything?
You re right, but I have to go I just need to know if it s real or not.
Are you going to be okay?
I ll be fine don t worry. It s probably not real anyway!
I could hear it, in the of sound of his voice. The disappointment, a tone where he knew I wouldn t be

Lake Roosevelt Research Paper
Summer is the time for vacations, adventures, and relaxation. However, some family trips can be
unpredictable. There is one particular family trip that comes to mind. We got up early to pack up our
twenty eight foot pontoon boat with everything we needed for the day. Summer was in full swing. We
were excited to spend the day at the lake with family and friends. Today was the day we were going to
try Lake Roosevelt because we heard that it is the perfect place to swim, boat and relax. Just as we
turned the corner to pull into the parking lot of the lake, we hit our first bump in the road of
unfortunate events. We actually really did hit a bump and ended up getting two flat tires.
Unfortunately, we only had one spare tire, so that was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We knew that we were racing against time. My husband turned the key and the motor started to sputter
and shake. He flipped some switches and tinkered with the engine, but nothing seemed to be solving
the problem. Since he couldn t figure it out, there was no question about it. We had to hook up the
water bike and tow the boat back to shore. It was like a tugboat pulling a battleship. Just as we started
our journey, our luck went from bad to worse. The sky that had been picture perfect was quickly
changing. The sun was now playing hide and seek in the clouds. The once large white, fluffy, pillow
shaped clouds that occasionally blocked out the golden sun turned into dark gray ragged clouds. With
that came plump missiles of mass destruction that pelted our tender sunburned skin. It felt like icy
needles penetrating throughout our bodies. The gentle winds that once danced with our boat suddenly
turned into a fierce hip hop which sent us into an ocean of mountains of angry waves. The boat tossed
and turned in the heavy swells. The waves lifted us up so high and then threw us back down, I thought
for sure the boat would break into tiny pieces. With one final tug, we finally made it to the dock.
However, the strength of the swell, sent us crashing into another boat. Just as we tied up, I noticed a
young lady unconscious on the dock. Her friends were by her side. I shouted out Did anyone call 911

Social Class In Jane Eyre
In the Victorian era women were held at a different standard than the men in the Victorian era. In the
novels of Jane Eyre and Tess of the d Urberville the social class of the women was challenged by both
leading ladies in the novels. Exploring both novels I will you examples from both to show how social
class effected women in the Victorian era. Beginning with Jane Eyre, the novel itself is a critical of
Victorian England s strict hierarchy. Bronte explores the complex social placements of governesses
which was the most prominent exploration of this theme. Jane was a figure of an ambiguous class
standing, and subsequently, a source of high tension for the characters around her in the novel. Jane s
overall mannerisms and education are those of high standings, of those of aristocrat. A Victorian
governesses, who tutored young children in life skills such as etiquette and as well as academics; Jane
was expected to embody the culture of the aristocracy. However, as a paid employee she was more or
less treated as servants; consequently Jane remains broke and powerless while residing a Thornfield.
Jane s understanding of the double standards against her become clear when she accepts her feelings
for Rochester. Jane is his intellectual, but not social equal. Even before Rochester s big secret about
Bertha Mason, Jane was hesitant to marry him because she knew that she would feel like she owed
him for condescending to marry her. In chapter seventeen, Jane s distress appears

Child Labor Is A Global Concern
Introduction
Child labor is now a global concern and has attracted attention of people in various sectors of the
global economy. As a matter of fact International labor organization (ILO), the World Trade
Organization (WTO) and other international communities considers child labor completely abusive
and ruthless. It is also considered to be derived from unequal society and therefore could be said that
poverty and unequal distribution of wealth within the society makes children to go to work and in
many cases to look after their family. The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that there
are about 250 million economically active children worldwide. 61% of these workers are in Asia,
which equals to approximately 153 million children. In Sub Saharan area 1 in 4 children aged between
the ages of 5 17 work, compared to 1 in 8 in Asia. Around half of the economically children are
working fulltime, and about 30 to 46 million are in very abusive and ruthless conditions or worse
forms of child labor.
What is Child Labor?
Child labor refers to any employment that deprives them from their childhood. Therefore child labor is
considered to be harmful because it is economically exploitive and is interfering with their education.
It is also very much hazardous towards their health, or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social
development. In fact child labor not only harms the child, but also increases poverty and equitable
development. It is also defined, as work

The Giver Research Paper
Have you ever wanted to live in a world that is just perfect ? A world where you can have diverse
families, a world where nobody can t control the way how you feel about a person, and able to keep
your best memories to yourself. Well, in the book, The Giver by Lois Lowry, an eleven male named
Jonas(the protagonist) lived in a utopian community where rules must be obeyed. Rules like having no
bad memories, can t feel attraction or love for someone, which is controlled by elders. Living with a
family that has one daughter, one brother, one mom, and one dad. The three main differences between
Jonas s society and reality are family, feelings, and memories.
First, Families is one of the biggest things that can affect the rest of a person s life. ... Show more

In Jonas s society, members of the community aren t allowed to feel feelings of attraction or love.
According to the novel, it states, Jonas nodded. I liked the feeling of love, he confessed. He glanced
nervously at the speaker on the wall reassuring himself that no one was listening, I wish we still had
that, he whispered (Lowry 126). This quote shows how in Jonas s world, people weren t allowed to
feel the attraction of love. In Jonas s society, they call these type of feelings, the stirrings , which they
described it as the feeling of wanting. These stirrings have to be cured by taking a pill every day, to get
rid of it. According to the novel, it states, Do I have to report it? he asked his mother... No, no, she
said. It s just the pills. You re ready for the pills, that s all. That s the treatment for Stirrings (Lowry 37
38). This quote shows how the rule in Jonas s society is to take a pill if you had the feeling for
someone. Unlike Jonas s society, in today s society, we are not controlled by feeling a certain type of
way towards a man/women. Feelings in our society do not have to be cured every day, it runs through
our body every single day, which is normal for people in society today. How would a person feel
something for someone, if they don t have the feeling about them

Determining The Molarity Of An Acidic Solution
Title: Find the unknown concentration of the acidic solution with use of titration
Problem/Objective: To determine the molarity of an acidic solution given the molarity of a basic
solution
Materials/Equipment: 50 ml buret, double buret clamp, graduated cylinder (50 ml or 100 ml), 250 ml
beaker, dropper pipette, Unknown concentration of HCL (75 ml), phenolphthalein
Procedure: 1. Set up the titration apparatus as indicated by your teacher
2. Place 1250 ml beaker containing 75 ml HCl underneath the buret (buret already set up with the
volume recorded) for titration and apparatus.
3. Record the initial volumes of the acid and base to the nearest 0.1 ml and record HCl volume of 75
ml

Titration has application to be as blood sugar and pregnancy test. For pregnancy test it applies to
titration, as it test the concentration of the blood to identify whether a person is pregnant or not. The
concept is same for blood sugar testing, from the concentration of the blood can help determine the
amount of glucose in the blood (Nurul Syazwanie (Nov, 9, 2011) Titration uses in everyday life ).
Titration is not relying use in chemical reaction, but rather other important real life use.
Errors: Percent error: Measured value Accepted value/Accepted value X 100
0.468 0.5/0.5 X 100= 6.4% percent error
Sources of error: One possible error can be during the process of putting the base solution into acid
beaker until it turns pink. There maybe a possibly that there are more base in the acidic solutions. This
would related to the outcome of the percent error to be negative. If there was less base than the
actually amount than the titration calculation would be lower.
Second potential error could be some incorrect measurement on the buret for base solution volume. In
some case measuring is hard tell in decimal number and is not always accurate, there maybe a slight
chance the measurement could have been lower than usual. If this were the error, this would affect the
outcome of molarity because if there is low measured volume it will ultimately result in a low

Regulator Movement Research Paper
The Regulator Movement was caused by increased population, economic depression, and political
corruption while significantly affecting the North Carolina Constitution and the Revolutionary War.
Immigrants of German, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh descent were moving to the North Carolina
backcountry that the English colonists were fleeing to from New England high land prices, which
increased the population of the area. This seemed ideal because the backcountry land was cheap and
plentiful. The gentry class had already staked claims to the tidewater lands that was more expensive;
these lands were more expensive because they were surrounded by many waterways and the ocean
was closer. The land here was not as rocky and more fertile than that of the ... Show more content on

Executive and Supreme Judicial Powers of Government ought to be forever separate and distinct from
each other (Captain Benjamin Merrell The Regulators of Colonial North Carolina). These men were
also able to effect the Revolutionary War because some of the leaders in Tryon s militia became
prominent figures of the Revolutionary War, like Alexander Lillington. Likewise to the Regulator
Movement, Shay s Rebellion occurred because of the property taken away from the poor farmers.
Shay s Rebellion of Massachusetts was caused from post war recession, lack of payment of army
stipends, failure to receive payment from bonds, and farmers going into debt, which led to property
being taken away from the yeomen farmers; this rebellion was significant in the terms of the
realization of a stronger national government and the call for the Annapolis Convention. The elitist has
little idea on what to do with the new found freedom. Currency was not yet established. Naturally a
recession occurred. Trade came to a standstill. Nothing was coming in nor out. Furthermore, Shay s
Rebellion happened due to lack of

Historical Heritage And Regional Identity
When does the symbol of someone s historical heritage and regional identity become unacceptable
due to the same symbol being found offensive and representative of the oppressed heritage of
someone else? Recently at the University of Mississippi the topic as to continue flying the state flag
was put to a vote. The Associated Student Body voted to remove the flag from any and all buildings
on campus; the chancellor ultimately decided that the Associated Student Body was right in this
decision. The appropriateness of the Confederate flag has become a major point of dispute in this
country. In the state of Mississippi, however, the argument is complicated by the fact that the state flag
itself incorporates the Confederate flag into its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people believe it s preventing businesses and athletes from coming to our state, and that it s
time for a change. The critics of the state flag have pushed for the Confederate symbol to be removed
from the state flag for many years before it became a hot topic at the University of Mississippi. People
who oppose the current state flag believe the Confederate design embodies the evil that was the
southern states before and during the Civil War (International Business Times). Mississippi is one of
the last states, which were a part of the Confederate States of America; to remove the Confederate
symbols from representative objects (Confederate Flag Debate CNN). The University of Mississippi is
the fourth college in the state to stop flying the state flag on campus (Ole Miss Student Senate).
The symbol of the Confederate Battle Flag has been adopted as a representation of groups who resort
to nefarious actions to promote a malicious agenda. The original intent of promoting the heritage
represented by the flag has been replaced by racist and oppressive actions perpetuated by its banner.
Many people have had negative experiences with the Confederate symbol. One man recounts a time

years old watching Ku Klux Klan members entomb an acquaintance while carrying the Confederate
flag (Confederate Flag Debate CNN). The University of Mississippi s student body has just

Course/prognosis
Early Stage Chronic Renal Failure (ESCRF) is defined as stages 1 3 of renal failure determined by the
Glomerular Filtration rate (GFR) a formula incorporating Age, Gender, and Creatinine levels in the
blood to determine how much waste product is being filtered every minute. A GFR of 30 to 99
mL/min is considered (ESCRF), GFR 30mL/min is considered End Stage Renal Failure with less than
30% functioning kidney, dialysis or transplant is essential for survival. A client can move through
different Early stages, however progression usually progresses to more severe end stage, once GFR is
30mL/min damage cannot be reversed. Appropriate Intervention and reducing risk factors can prolong
progression by months and up to years. ESCRF isn t usually fatal diseases which shares common risk
factors (diabetes and CVD) usually prove fatal, in Australia cause of death is often recorded as CVD

How Does Temperature Affect The Elasticity Of A Rubber Band
The project that I m doing is rubber band elasticity being affected by temperature. Part of this
experiment actual includes atoms, molecules, and polymers. A rubber band is an example of natural
polymer. The chains of molecules in the rubber have a natural elasticity; they can stretch when pulled.
Polymers are certain kinds of molecules. When the material gets hotter the molecules vibrate more
intensely. When the molecules bump into each other the material will tend to expand. When the
temperature gets colder the material will tend to get together like get smaller or scrunch up. Rubber
bands have different molecules than other materials. Their molecules are like very long chains. The
chains of molecules in the rubber band are actual polymers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But the effect will vary in intensity based on the number of factors. Among them thickness of the
rubber band, the time of the water, and the weight of an object putting stress to the rubber band. In
general, the elasticity of the rubber band will decrease because of the decrease of temperature of the
water it s soaked in. However, by placing a weighted object to the rubber band, you are looking into
two different variables. If you measure how far the rubber bands stretches with a fixed weight of an
object, you are testing the elasticity of a rubber band. If you are testing for how much weight that the
rubber band can hold before breaking, you are actually testing the rubber band s strength. This is an
important part of testing the rubber band. Most of this testing is about elasticity. Like most matter,
when a rubber band gets colder it contracts like other materials. When the rubber band gets colder the
molecules get closer together. When the temperature gets colder it affects the rubber bands elasticity in
two different ways. When the temperature is warmer, the rubber band will stretch because the
molecules are moving away from other molecules. Another way to affect a rubber band s elasticity is
with temperature. Since the molecules in the rubber band are stronger when it holds

Animal Farm Or Ussr Part II
Cliffy Smith James Hensley Pre IB LA 10 10 April 2015 Animal Farm or USSR Part II Animal Farm
written by George Orwell is a hopeful novel about a group of animals that overthrow their farmer and
create an animalistic government. Much like All the King s Men a novel by Robert Penn Warren,
Animal Farm has strong political undertones relating to the the skewed government of Soviet Russia.
Throughout the book many animal characters can be identified with the political leaders and
influences throughout Soviet Russia. According to New World Encyclopedia, New Historicism is an
approach to literary criticism and literary theory based on the premise that a literary work should be
considered a product of the time, place, and historical circumstances of its composition rather than as
an isolated work of art or text. Animal Farm and it s direct correlation with the USSR connects New
Historicism and the impactful writing of Orwell with fluidity and ease. New Historicism is a criticism
developed in the 1980 s by a Harvard English professor named Stephen Greenblatt. This criticism
takes a look at every aspect of the story including the author s political and emotional bias. It was used
to bring outside information and cultural context into the book and create a deeper meaning for the
reader. New Historicism gained widespread influence in the 90 s through its new way for reading and
analyzing a story. Judith Newton explains New Historicism as a criticism that aims to subject the

The Fulani Whip Match
Initiation Rituals are nothing new to different parts of the world or in different tribes. Different places
have different initiation rituals, some far outside the norm and others mild. But the main goal is typical
to go from one old status to a liminal status, and then into a new status, like for example entering
Manhood. For western society, physical changes to the body through the body like the beginning of
menstruation or the addition of more body hair would be some of the many physical changes that take
place and signal the start of the transition to adulthood in this culture. It is not like that for everyone

The Fulani Whip Match is a painful initiation for the boys, as you can already tell from the name what
this initiation consists of. Whips, the boys must find long tree branches and their father helps them
pick the branch that would have the most painful blow. The father then chooses the stick and sharpens
it in order to be able to make the biggest impact with each lash that they give to their opponent and
break the skin as well. Clans gather around from 50 miles around to watch who is the bravest of the
two. When the boys are ready and their whips are prepared for battle, a crowd gathers around and they
are in charge of judging the match and determining who wins. Each whipper takes a turn, first one
opponent gets whipped three times and then the other gets whipped three times. This continues
throughout the match to see what boy will come out victorious and could handle such amount of pain
and was brave enough alternatively, the one which loses does not become a man. Whoever flinches the
least amount of times and whips the hardest is considered the man. Afterward those who win are
congratulated by family and friends and people from the neighboring clans, they are showered with
talc powder and coins are pressed upon their foreheads and officially an adult member of the Fulani

It is stated that Victoria Chemicals has direct ownership of the tank cars, therefore the extra cost of the
transport division which are directly or indirectly associated with the implementation of the project
has to be taken into account in the DCF analysis. The main argument in light of this issue is, the
project will only have extra profitability if its additional polypropylene productions are distributed in a
cost efficient manner, in which it will directly increase the cost of the transport division, and thus it
should be incorporated in the profitability analysis of the project. Table 1: Cost Associated with the

and the polypropylene industry is heading towards a downturn, thus sales amount will decrease. In this
case, even though the project will result in additional production at lower cost, it will not be fully

James Fenimore Cooper s 1826 novel Last of the Mohicans, revolves around the journey a colonial

communicating with different audiences in a business setting. The department of research
development (R D) in International Gadgets has produced a new product. The International Gadgets
assumed that product would make a revolutionize the industry. However, the International Gadgets in
each level of the corporation department needs to understand fully how the new product is going to
start and revolt the industry.
In order to process the new product, the head of R D should work with four departments in the

company for the new product. There are four levels in International Gadgets should understand the
new product which are upper management, Sales and Marketing, Technical Support and all
employees.
Before approving the funding needed for the new product, R D should help upper management to
understand the new product and how it will expand the company. Technology has approved many
possible channels for upper management to share the information and stay connected with several

The Role Of Performance Enhancing Drugs In Professional...
If you are an avid sports fan and there is a chance to make superstar athletes whom you admire much
faster, stronger and better, would you be in favor of that opportunity? Performance enhancing drugs
have been a very controversial topic ever since American professional athletes introduced them into
the sports world during the 1990 s. Many athletes have experimented with these drugs over their
careers and have been tested, and ultimately caught, but does this really put the MLB in the direction
they and the fans want? Although some researchers and critics may consider performance enhancing
drugs a method of cheating, PEDs actually benefit professional leagues by increasing fan interest,
revenue, and levels of play. If performance enhancing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some athletes are hard workers, and others use PEDs, but players will do anything possible to gain an
advantage over their opponents. Because of this known fact, Higher level athletes are always going to
do everything they can to get an edge, to beat the competition, and extend their shorts careers
(Kolosky). Players careers are relatively short due to injury or fatigue. If players were to use steroids,
their bodies can recover from injury at a faster rate and build up more strength to avoid fatigue. Fans
may complain about how player statistics from different eras are now not comparable, but it s
important to note that historical statistics are already antiquated. Baseball has changed over time, so
records set by Babe Ruth or Roger Maris are obsolete. Rule changes radically modified baseball at the
end of the deadball era, ... Simply put, professional sports have evolved so much over the years that it
s mostly nonsense to directly compare statistics across eras, regardless of steroid use (Smith). This
implies that because of the more frequent use of steroids among players, it is now not possible to
correctly compare players from decades ago to the modern day stars, but with of all the rule changes
and defensive schemes used, it would not be possible to compare players anyways; even without
PEDs. Finally, many critics believe that an unfair level of play is created because of the handful of
innocent players but if we really want to level the playing field, it may be time to head in the other
direction, legalize performance enhancers... Not only would the playing field suddenly be even for all
players, it would be at a higher level (Smith). A proposed solution underscores the fact that if all
players used PEDs, a fair level of play would be created and it would be at a much higher level than

Essay About Sey Vanu
A fairytale for the young and the young of mind
Once upon a time a little girl lived in a small village on an island in the middle of a vast, vast ocean.
Her name was Sey Tu. Sey Tu was known on the island for her beautiful black hair and her inquisitive
mind. But most of all she was known as the girl with the unusual large feet.
Sey Tu lived in a small house with her father, mother, grandmother and her brother Vanu. The house
was located at the edge of the small village, near the beach. In the garden there were large palm trees
that would wave softly in the wind. The trees brought shade at day time and they waved in some cool
air into the house at night.
Because of her large feet Sey Tu always had troubles walking to the village school over ... Show more

Her grandmother said that surely she must have been mistaken. You can t suddenly swim twice as fast
she said to Sey Tu. But Sey Tu insisted, so her grandmother said to come to the beach with her in the
morning to see. The next morning proved that Sey Tu was right.
Grandmother burst out in tears after Sey Tu circled the island in half an hour. Sey Tu thought that she
had made her grandmother proud, and that these were happy tears. But no, these tears were the saddest
tears ever.
So it is happening , said grandmother and Sey Tu asked her what was happening.
Well , said grandmother, you know that we live on a small island in the middle of a vast ocean. The
ocean separates us from other islands . Yes , said Sey Tu, like the island of auntie, it takes us a whole
day to sail there .
Grandmother started explaining that on the world were many islands, even continents. That in all these
places other humans live, 7 billion of them. This number didn t mean anything to Sey Tu, who could
count to one hundred.
Grandmother continued to talk, and told about factories, airplanes, cars, trains and busses. About
pollution, dirty water and food shortages. Sey Tu and Vanu, who had just joined, were listening in
amazement although there was much they did not

Climate Essay
2.6 Climate The shrubby cinquefoil coastal meadow mash has a climate that is easily affected by the
Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). The great size of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron can result in a creation
of their own weather system, which is a link between the amount of precipitation that the Silver Creek
Wetland Complex receives, especially as it is located right on the water line. This lake effect is a result
of a cold air system moving across a broad range of warmer water, and because of the size, the water
retains warmth longer than the air. The cold air gradually picks up water vapor in its lower layer where
it then rises as it cools and eventually freezes. Downwind shores receive the bulk of the deposit from
these precipitation packed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Relating to the ecosystem that is in pathway to these climate changes, these fluctuations are serious
threats as the biotic components are not equipped to adapt to the changing conditions quickly enough,
and therefore may not survive. Climate change will ultimately alter the conditions of the geological
features of soils and groundwater in the natural wetlands by increased erosion and runoff, along with
evapotranspiration during the summer reducing base flow.
2.7 Landscape and Biotic Features The Georgian Trail provides a connection between the south ends
of Silver Creek to the North, where the wetlands lie. This trail is significant as it provides access to the
marsh which is a critical habitat for sensitive marsh bird species. It allows access to study the forested
area, and study of endangered species, such as the western chorus frog (Pseudacris triseriata) that
utilizes the wetlands as a breeding habitat. The deciduous and coniferous mixed forest covers also
provides a suitable winter habitat for white tail deer (Odocoileus virginianus) who are able to
scavenge for nutrients from the swap under a layer of snow. Because this section of the Georgian Trail
lies on the flood plain of the wetlands, it is susceptible to flooding and other stream based hazards.
Part of Collingwood Harbour West is associated within the Silver Creek Wetlands, which was
classified as an Area of Concern (AOC) in 1977

Similarities Between Ancient Greece And China Essay
1. Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The concept of axial
age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by German existentialist philosopher
Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century
BC. In this period of time we have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that
promoted human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an interregnum
between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath bringing the most lucid
consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the spiritual foundations of humanity were
laid simultaneously and independently in China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the
foundations upon which humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China.
Ancient Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of spiritual
development. Hellenic culture range was one of those, whose coordinate system covers the problems
of family, God, nature and Eros. As a general rule, the mentality of this culture consisted the two
vectors Apollonian and Dionysian. Dionysian beginning was aimed at the satisfaction of the
instinctual needs, as opposed to the Apollonian, whose essence consisted of creative and scientific
elements. The widespread fall of the monarchy and the actualization role of the nation brought

Is High Fidelity Flight Simulation Necessary for Airline...
IS HIGH FIDELITY FLIGHT SIMULATION NECESSARY FOR AIRLINE PILOT TRAINING?
Abstract
One of the difficulties when objectivity looking into defining the levels of fidelity required in training
simulations is that simulators are frequently seen as replacements for training that previously would
have been conducted on the real equipment. The perception therefore is that the simulation should be
as close as possible to the real deal in order to successfully replace it. However, the genuine advantage
of using simulation in training is that where the actual equipment is designed for real operations, a
training simulator can be designed to meet specific training needs without unnecessarily extending the
fidelity of the simulation. A vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has lead to an overemphasis on technological advancement to enhance simulation based training
(Francis Heybroek, 1992). In turn, this focus creates a lack of emphasis on the role of recreating
authentic operational scenarios which is the baseline for training airline pilots.
All this leads into another important aspect of simulation fidelity; Instructional Systems Design (ISD).
ISD is definitively linked to training effectiveness and is relative to the way in which simulator based
training is designed for the target audience. Recently there has been considerable research which
suggests that there is not a straightforward relationship between the increased realism of high fidelity
simulation and any significant enhancement in training effectiveness (National Center for Simulation,
2007). In fact, the research actually shows that increases in both efficiency and transfer of training do
occur through the careful process of ISD, and in particular the design of simulation based scenarios
that are responsive to the real operational needs of the target learner. These research results provide
the first facet that high fidelity simulation is not necessarily required for airline pilot training.
Operational Fidelity
Within the commercial aviation setting, considerable criticism has been directed at the current forms
of simulator based training for their singular focus on the

A Case Study Involving The Telecommunications Industry

Abstract Each firm that sells a product or service belongs to a certain market structure. In this paper I
will analyze four of the main market structures that are involved in the world economy. Each market
structure is unique to the type of product, the barriers for entering the market, and the pricing strategy.
The final portion of this paper is a case study involving the telecommunications industry.
Perfect Competition
Perfect competition is the concept that for a given product or service, there are multiple providers that
provide a similar product or service. No one company can truly control the market because there are
multiple competitors creating the same product for the same price (Samuelson Marks, 2012). Price
cannot be determined by a single company, the overall supply and demand for a product determines
the price. In perfect competition perfectly elastic demand exists across competitors. This means that a
firm cannot decide to raise prices indiscriminately because their customers will abandon them for their
competitors. This also means that every competing firm in the market is a price taker. A price taker has
such a small role in the supply and demand of a product that they must accept the price determined by
the market. The competitors must sell the product for relatively the same price. Inversely the
consumer must accept the price of the product because

The New World
After settlement of The New World by the English in the early 17th century, there was a surge of
Englishmen hoping to strike rich, escape the religious government of England, or start a new life with
their family. Specific reasons for leaving England had its respective colonies to travel to. For this
reason, the northern New England colonies and the southern colonies like Virginia and Maryland in
the Chesapeake bay area started to establish ways of life that began to develop very different
lifestyles. The reasoning behind the foundation of each colony is what created such a substantial
amount of difference between two areas of English settlement.
Following the defeat of the Spanish armada, England finally had the power to venture out to the
Americas after hearing about a century s worth of Spanish success in that region themselves. Single
Englishmen in search of wealth began to sail to America, and did not find the gold they were
searching for. It was not until the success from the crop tobacco, did anyone in Virginia prosper. This
set the stage for a huge colony with an economy relying on large plantations of this new staple crop.
The many who sought out the Massachusetts bay colony in New England were likely not going to
strike rich on a plantation, but to either escape the English Church, or to start a new life for their
family. The Massachusetts bay colony was founded by Puritans who wanted to fix, or purify, the
English church and for this reason, were also very

The Tucson Unified School District Essay
In recent years, the Arizona education department has been under fire after the Arizona legislature
passed a law banning Mexican American studies in schools (Planas, 2015, p. 1). Not only have the
schools in Arizona suffered from this discriminatory law, but also the advancement of Mexican
American students. This essay will briefly go over the Tucson Unified School District, the district in
the midst of the controversy, and will mainly focus on Pueblo Magnet High School, one of the schools
in the Tucson Unified School District that was greatly affected by the ethnic studies law.
Pueblo Magnet High School History According to the Pueblo Magnet High School webpage, the
school is located on 3500 South 12th Avenue in Tucson, Arizona, and opened in 1956 (Pueblo Magnet

receives most its funding from the local government (Pueblo Magnet High School Information, 2015,

The school got its name from the Spanish word pequeño pueblo, meaning small town (Pueblo Magnet

was created to remind their students that they can accomplish whatever they put their mind to (Pueblo

The rules require banks with assets of over $50 billion to hold up to 3% of their proceeds in cash or
highly liquid securities in order to avoid bank failure in the case of another crash.
The problem for banks is that they now can t use that small percentage of low yielding assets to turn a
profit on, and this makes them very sad. You see, bank CEOs don t really care if their banks fail and
millions of American are left in a lurch due to a lack of this protection. They simply want to make as
much profit as possible and let the potential carnage to the markets be damned that s because the
executives of a bank can walk away with all their money, while leaving a decimated stock market

Another aspect of the plan is that large banks must submit resolution plans to regulators each year

terrible for banks because, I don t know, extra paperwork? Or maybe they just don t like to have to

The Success Of A Recession
Warren Buffett, entrepreneur and investor once said, It s only when the tide goes out that you discover
who s been swimming naked. In order to know exactly what Mr. Buffett was talking about when he
said this line, you would have either had to be there or one day have the opportunity to ask him
yourself. However, in the context of comparing this quote to economics, or perhaps banking, one
could say that what he meant was that the choices that are made today might not be judged until later
down the road. For example, a recession is not something that just happens over night. In the event
leading up to a recession, there are many factors and every recession is unique in their own way. As
for the great recession in 2008, the causes included subprime lending, and greed amongst lenders and
borrowers. Before jumping straight into the causes of the 2008 recession, first you must be informed
of the history in previous recessions America has had to face. Since the Great Depression ended in
mid 1930 s, America has had to overcome around eleven recessions. Now some might argue that not
all recorded recessions were worthy of getting the tittle as an official recession. Many will simply say
it was slight hiccup in the economy because of the short six to eight month duration of the smaller
recessions. When divided over the years It seems that the United States has one to two recessions
every decade. However, everyone of the short recessions had a significant impact on the American

Within-Class Ability Grouping Argumentative Analysis
In order to grasp the effectiveness of ability groups, it is necessary to point out the differences
amongst them. Mathews (2013) states that ability grouping is classified into two categories which are
between class ability grouping and within class ability grouping. Between class ability grouping is
essentially leveled groups (high, medium, low) across the grade level and is also known as cluster
grouping. Each group is assigned to a particular classroom based on their academic ability or prior
performance (gifted, special needs, and language learners). Within class ability grouping is the
assignment of students to groups within each classroom based on interest, skill, ability, and various
other factors (Mathews, 2013, p. 82). Within class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They describe that overall the advantages of ability grouping outweigh the disadvantages of reduced

Hallinan and Sorenson (1987) point out that many studies show that ability grouping favors students
in the high group and disadvantages those who are in the lowest group. This is because high ability
groups are characterized by students who have a positive attitude towards learning and who are highly
motivated; while, students in the lowest group are those who are easily distracted and have more
behavior problems. If the teacher is spending the group s instructional time on discipline and
redirecting, the group has a smaller amount of instructional time and as a result the amount of learning

Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, by...
Wallace Stevens is not an easy poet to understand. His work is purposely twisted and tangled so one is
forced to thing whether they want to or not. Stevens poetry ranges from real life situations to
situations which are simply a depiction of his imagination. One thing can be concluded though,
Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost quality
that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. An interesting theme though
which Wallace truly enjoys writing about, in all seriousness, is something thought provoking
perception. The book definition of perception is appending [something] by the means of senses or the

This is where one can see the new role the blackbird is playing. A new perception of the bird. It is now
part of one s conscious. It does not have an on or off button that any human can control just like a
river...moving (Stevens 48). A new theme is suggested in this part which makes its way up to the top a
couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the individuals the
speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the fifth part on the other
hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the bird becomes an objectified
beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches, the readers once again return to
the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular pattern can now be seen with the seasons.
Another hint of a continuous process occurring the process of perception.
In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks
about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet of
the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? Loazi, a philosophical

A Lifespan Assessment Of An Adolescent Who Is...
This report is a lifespan assessment of an adolescent who is transitioning into a young adult. AO is a
patient who is 19 years of age and was assessed by an Alverno College student nurse who uses the
Gordon s Functional Health Patterns as a guide in gathering subjective information. Since the patient
can fall in one or both age groups of adolescence and young adult hood, information for both patterns
have been included. Once data is collected, a diagnoses can be determined in any areas of concern.
Developmental Stage
According to Erikson s stages of development, AO could be categorized into two different stages. The
first stage is identity vs. role confusion, this is where an adolescent is trying to find out who they are
and what their place is in life. If their search turns out to be challenging, it could lead to a crisis where
a person almost has to step backwards, revaluate to be able to move forward again. AO positively
identified with this stage because she is enrolled in college and working hard to be successful in her
classes as a future nurse. AO did not show any signs of current role confusion. There is no evidence of
tattoos or piercings, delinquent behavior or apparent changes in her mental health status that lead one
to believe that a crisis is present (Edelman, Kudzma Mandle, 2014, p. 522).
The second stage is intimacy versus isolation, this is where a young adult would begin to form
relationships with people on a more intimate level.

Synthetic Nervous System
There are varies glands, organs, and systems that are affected by the sympathetic nervous system, and
they include the lacrimal gland, the eye, the parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands, blood
vessels, the heart, the trachea, and the lungs. As well as the liver, gallbladder, stomach, pancreas, the
small and large intestines, and many more internal organs. I chose to write about the cardiovascular
system, and how the organs in this system are affected by the sympathetic nervous system, as well as
how a lie detector test would assess these internal changes in the human body. First, I will start with
the blood vessels of the cardiovascular system. When stress is at an all time high, the blood vessels
that direct blood to the large muscles

Linguistic Genius Of Babies Book Review
Patricia Kuhl s TED Talk lecture, The Linguistic Genius of Babies, is an overview of how infants as
young as six months old are capable of discriminating between the units of all languages equally, but
at ten months, infants tend to become better at distinguishing between units of their native language
and worse at those of a foreign language. This shows that there is a critical period not just for language
acquisition but also for the ability to acquire a second language. Therefore, parents who with for their
children to have a bilingual advantage should expose infants to a second language as soon as possible.
Noam Chomsky believed that humans are genetically designed with the capacity to learn language.
Humans have a system of common rules and properties, called universal grammar, which allows us to
learn any world language. It appears that Kuhl s research supports this theory. Kuhl exposed American
infants, who had only been previously exposed to English, to Mandarin during the critical period for
language acquisition. Babies exposed to both English and Mandarin showed equivalent statistics for
language discrimination. This exposure alters the Language Acquisitions Device (LAD) in the brain
and makes infants the citizens of the world, (Kuhl, 2010) Chomsky believed them to be, rather than
the culture bound listeners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While humans are biologically designed to produce language, with exception of reasons of defect,
there is still a time limit during which infants must be exposed to language or risk developmental
delays. These delays are not just in the area of language acquisitions, but are related to other cognitive
functions as well, as we saw in the example of Justin, the boy who was raised as a dog by his
caregiver. Language acquisition is essential in the development of the ability to problem solve and to
process and understand symbolic

Personal Legend In The Alchemist
In the novel, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho throughout Santiago s long adventurous journey he
meets people that change the script in his play of life. When a shepherd named Santiago was on his
way to meet the beautiful merchant s daughter, he is confronted by a king who directs him to his
personal legend. Santiago decides to pursue his journey to find his personal legend and meets many
important characters along the way. Santiago was destined to meet these certain characters such as the
crystal merchant, Fatima, and the King of Salem so they can reflect on one another s lives and through
finding their own personal legends they help redirect his.
The first significant person to direct Santiago to his personal legend was the King of Salem. The King
of Salem is the character that introduces Santiago to his personal legend and what a personal legend is.
Through this it adjusts Santiago s path and desires to find out what the Old King was talking about.
None of what the old man was saying made much sense to the boy. But he wanted to know what the
mysterious force was; (22). By this little spiel from the Old King Santiago takes a turn in his life. He
suddenly is curious about this hidden treasure and is determined to find out more. If Santiago never
met the King of Salem then he never would ve known about his personal legend and continued to
meet other important characters in his life. The Old King also encouraged the belief of omen to the
boy through the use of white and

The Parson Compare And Contrast
Colin McDonald
EN1214
Assignment 1
This essay will explore two texts, the introduction to the Parson s Tale and Chaucer s Retraction.
Through the use of the Norton Anthology texts, and outside sources, we will look at the content and
tone of the Parsons tale to determine tone, analyze the character of the Parson. For Chaucer s
Retraction, we will observe the content and history to determine the reason for using this particular
style to end the tales.
The Parson as a character is often considered the only actual representation of good in the entirety of
The Canterbury tales. He is the only person who is seen as practicing his own advice. Not once does
he entertain the idea of altering the word of god, through rhyme or other means, to better entertain his
companions. Thou getest fable noon ytold for me (311/31), nor will they get poetry; he can not rhyme

The continuous use of references to Jesus, and Christ, such as I wol ful fain at Cristes Reerence , and
jesu for his grace with me sende.. add to idea that the Parson is really a God fearing man. At some
points, the parson goes as far as to call fables wretchedness, and asks why he should hurt himself,
when rather he could give a sermon to spread the word of god. It is clear that the Parson s only goal is
to instruct his companions on the topic of God.
Most everything that Chaucer wrote in the Canterbury Tales was critical of the church, clergy, or
religion itself. It is curious then that he finished the tales with a complete retraction. Why would a
man, who had devoted his life to writing about the fallacies in those in power around him, namely the
church, have such a sudden change of heart? Furthermore, why wouldn t Chaucer simply prevent his
works from being published, rather than write a full retraction, asking god and Christ to have mercy
on me and forgive my giltes and namely of my translacions and enditinges .(Retraction

Comparison Of 1930 And 1940 s Inventions
In the 1930 s and the 1940 s, there were many new and creative inventions that make life easier today.
Just imagine life without television, a microwave, or even air conditioning. Well, thanks to the 1930 s
and 1940 s you aren t devastated and grateful for what you have. In the early 1930 s air conditioning
was invented by Willis Carrier. It was not like the air conditioning we have today, back then the air
conditioning systems were not aimed at human comfort, however they were designed to control the
humidity. Another invention that many people use today is colored television. In 1940 CBS began
experimenting with color field tests using films as early as August 28, and live cameras by November
12. One of the greatest inventions

Gender Differences In Blood Flow
As she approached him from the opposite side of the room, he almost knew that everyone in the
building could hear his heart thumping in his chest. His collar was tightening around his neck. He felt
as if every twitch in his body was amplified as she wrapped her arms around him. They embraced. It is
apparent that there was a biological reaction internally with the excerpt from above. The male, in
response to sexual stimuli, approaches the first phase of Masters and Johnson sexual response cycle,
the excitement phase. The female would have the similar reaction. However, there would also be
differences as well. Blood flow would be increased to the abdominal portions for both male and
female. However, this increased blood flow would create different environments for both. For
example, the male would have an increase in blood flow to the penis, which would cause constriction
in the blood vessels to form an erection. The female would have an increase in blood flow to the labia
minora, majora, and further causing transduction, or increased vaginal lubrication. ... Show more

As with the previous stage, the body response is similar. There is an increase in blood pressure, heart
rate, and labored breathing. However, the body prepares for the next phase. The penis becomes fully
erect, and the testes move closer to the body cavity (Green, 2014, p162). The female organs go
through their own metamorphosis. The clitoris withdraws underneath the clitoral hood. The vagina
opens at the upper portion of the vaginal canal, creating a vessel to collect sperm. This phase last only
a few minutes in most in anticipation for the next phase, the orgasm

Just as we started our journey, our luck went from bad to worse. The sky that had been picture perfect was quickly changing. The sun was now playing hide and seek in the clouds. With that came plump missiles of mass destruction that pelted our tender sunburned skin. It felt like icy needles penetrating throughout our bodies. The gentle winds that once danced with our boat suddenly turned into a fierce hip hop which sent us into an ocean of mountains of angry waves. The boat tossed and turned in the heavy swells. The waves lifted us up so high and then threw us back down, I thought for sure the boat would break into tiny pieces. With one final tug, we finally made it to the dock. In the novels of Jane Eyre and Tess of the d Urberville the social class of the women was challenged by both leading ladies in the novels. A world where you can have diverse families, a world where nobody can t control the way how you feel about a person, and able to keep your best memories to yourself. Well, in the book, The Giver by Lois Lowry, an eleven male named Jonas(the protagonist) lived in a utopian community where rules must be obeyed. Rules like having no bad memories, can t feel attraction or love for someone, which is controlled by elders. Living with a family that has one daughter, one brother, one mom, and one dad. I liked the feeling of love, he confessed. He glanced nervously at the speaker on the wall reassuring himself that no one was listening, I wish we still had that, he whispered (Lowry 126). This quote shows how in Jonas s world, people weren t allowed to feel the attraction of love. In Jonas s society, they call these type of feelings, the stirrings , which they described it as the feeling of wanting. These stirrings have to be cured by taking a pill every day, to get rid of it. According to the novel, it states, Do I have to report it? he asked his mother... No, no, she said. It s just the pills. You re ready for the pills, that s all. That s the treatment for Stirrings (Lowry 37 38). This quote shows how the rule in Jonas s society is to take a pill if you had the feeling for someone. Unlike Jonas s society, in today s society, we are not controlled by feeling a certain type of way towards a man/women. There maybe a possibly that there are more base in the acidic solutions. This would related to the outcome of the percent error to be negative. If there was less base than the actually amount than the titration calculation would be lower. Second potential error could be some incorrect measurement on the buret for base solution volume. Part of this experiment actual includes atoms, molecules, and polymers. A rubber band is an example of natural polymer. The chains of molecules in the rubber have a natural elasticity; they can stretch when pulled. Polymers are certain kinds of molecules. When the material gets hotter the molecules vibrate more intensely. When the molecules bump into each other the material will tend to expand. When the temperature gets colder the material will tend to get together like get smaller or scrunch up. Rubber bands have different molecules than other materials. Their molecules are like very long chains. The chains of molecules in the rubber band are actual polymers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the effect will vary in intensity based on the number of factors. Among them thickness of the rubber band, the time of the water, and the weight of an object putting stress to the rubber band. In general, the elasticity of the rubber band will decrease because of the decrease of temperature of the water it s soaked in. However, by placing a weighted object to the rubber band, you are looking into two different variables. If you measure how far the rubber bands stretches with a fixed weight of an object, you are testing the elasticity of a rubber band. If you are testing for how much weight that the rubber band can hold before breaking, you are actually testing the rubber band s strength. This is an important part of testing the rubber band. Most of this testing is about elasticity. Like most matter, when a rubber band gets colder it contracts like other materials. When the rubber band gets colder the molecules get closer together. When the temperature gets colder it affects the rubber bands elasticity in two different ways. When the temperature is warmer, the rubber band will stretch because the molecules are moving away from other molecules. Another way to affect a rubber band s elasticity is with temperature. Animal Farm Or Ussr Part II Cliffy Smith James Hensley Pre IB LA 10 10 April 2015 Animal Farm or USSR Part II Animal Farm written by George Orwell is a hopeful novel about a group of animals that overthrow their farmer and create an animalistic government. Much like All the King s Men a novel by Robert Penn Warren, Animal Farm has strong political undertones relating to the the skewed government of Soviet Russia. Throughout the book many animal characters can be identified with the political leaders and influences throughout Soviet Russia. According to New World Encyclopedia, New Historicism is an approach to literary criticism and literary theory based on the premise that a literary work should be considered a product of the time, place, and historical circumstances of its composition rather than as an isolated work of art or text. Animal Farm and it s direct correlation with the USSR connects New Historicism and the impactful writing of Orwell with fluidity and ease. New Historicism is a criticism developed in the 1980 s by a Harvard English professor named Stephen Greenblatt. This criticism takes a look at every aspect of the story including the author s political and emotional bias. It was used to bring outside information and cultural context into the book and create a deeper meaning for the reader. • 23. Climate Essay 2.6 Climate The shrubby cinquefoil coastal meadow mash has a climate that is easily affected by the Georgian Bay (Lake Huron). The great size of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron can result in a creation of their own weather system, which is a link between the amount of precipitation that the Silver Creek Wetland Complex receives, especially as it is located right on the water line. This lake effect is a result of a cold air system moving across a broad range of warmer water, and because of the size, the water retains warmth longer than the air. The cold air gradually picks up water vapor in its lower layer where it then rises as it cools and eventually freezes. Downwind shores receive the bulk of the deposit from these precipitation packed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Relating to the ecosystem that is in pathway to these climate changes, these fluctuations are serious threats as the biotic components are not equipped to adapt to the changing conditions quickly enough, and therefore may not survive. Climate change will ultimately alter the conditions of the geological features of soils and groundwater in the natural wetlands by increased erosion and runoff, along with evapotranspiration during the summer reducing base flow. 2.7 Landscape and Biotic Features The Georgian Trail provides a connection between the south ends of Silver Creek to the North, where the wetlands lie. This trail is significant as it provides access to the marsh which is a critical habitat for sensitive marsh bird species. It allows access to study the forested area, and study of endangered species, such as the western chorus frog (Pseudacris triseriata) that utilizes the wetlands as a breeding habitat. The deciduous and coniferous mixed forest covers also provides a suitable winter habitat for white tail deer (Odocoileus virginianus) who are able to scavenge for nutrients from the swap under a layer of snow. • 24. Similarities Between Ancient Greece And China Essay 1. Using three civilizations as examples, describe the concept of the Axial Age The concept of axial age was introduced into the sphere of philosophical knowledge by German existentialist philosopher Karl Jaspers for characterizing the period of ancient history during about the 8th to the 3rd century BC. In this period of time we have developed a fundamentally new religious beliefs and doctrines that promoted human and cultural values of the era. Jaspers described the Axial Age as an interregnum between two ages of great empire, a pause for liberty, a deep breath bringing the most lucid consciousness. Jaspers argued that during the Axial Age, the spiritual foundations of humanity were laid simultaneously and independently in China, India, Persia, Judea and Greece. And these are the foundations upon which humanity still subsists today. Consider, for example Greece, India and China. Ancient Greece up to the 6th century BC was on a par with other civilizations by the level of spiritual development. Hellenic culture range was one of those, whose coordinate system covers the problems of family, God, nature and Eros. As a general rule, the mentality of this culture consisted the two vectors Apollonian and Dionysian. Dionysian beginning was aimed at the satisfaction of the instinctual needs, as opposed to the Apollonian, whose essence consisted of creative and scientific elements. • 25. Is High Fidelity Flight Simulation Necessary for Airline... IS HIGH FIDELITY FLIGHT SIMULATION NECESSARY FOR AIRLINE PILOT TRAINING? Abstract One of the difficulties when objectivity looking into defining the levels of fidelity required in training simulations is that simulators are frequently seen as replacements for training that previously would have been conducted on the real equipment. The perception therefore is that the simulation should be as close as possible to the real deal in order to successfully replace it. However, the genuine advantage of using simulation in training is that where the actual equipment is designed for real operations, a training simulator can be designed to meet specific training needs without unnecessarily extending the fidelity of the simulation. A vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has lead to an overemphasis on technological advancement to enhance simulation based training (Francis Heybroek, 1992). In turn, this focus creates a lack of emphasis on the role of recreating authentic operational scenarios which is the baseline for training airline pilots. All this leads into another important aspect of simulation fidelity; Instructional Systems Design (ISD). ISD is definitively linked to training effectiveness and is relative to the way in which simulator based training is designed for the target audience. Recently there has been considerable research which suggests that there is not a straightforward relationship between the increased realism of high fidelity simulation and any significant enhancement in training effectiveness (National Center for Simulation, 2007). In fact, the research actually shows that increases in both efficiency and transfer of training do occur through the careful process of ISD, and in particular the design of simulation based scenarios that are responsive to the real operational needs of the target learner. These research results provide the first facet that high fidelity simulation is not necessarily required for airline pilot training. Operational Fidelity Within the commercial aviation setting, considerable criticism has been directed at the current forms of simulator based training for their singular focus on the ... In this paper I will analyze four of the main market structures that are involved in the world economy. Each market structure is unique to the type of product, the barriers for entering the market, and the pricing strategy. The final portion of this paper is a case study involving the telecommunications industry. Perfect Competition Perfect competition is the concept that for a given product or service, there are multiple providers that provide a similar product or service. No one company can truly control the market because there are multiple competitors creating the same product for the same price (Samuelson Marks, 2012). Price cannot be determined by a single company, the overall supply and demand for a product determines the price. In perfect competition perfectly elastic demand exists across competitors. This means that a firm cannot decide to raise prices indiscriminately because their customers will abandon them for their competitors. This also means that every competing firm in the market is a price taker. A price taker has such a small role in the supply and demand of a product that they must accept the price determined by the market. The competitors must sell the product for relatively the same price. Inversely the consumer must accept the price of the product because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New World After settlement of The New World by the English in the early 17th century, there was a surge of Englishmen hoping to strike rich, escape the religious government of England, or start a new life with their family. Specific reasons for leaving England had its respective colonies to travel to. For this reason, the northern New England colonies and the southern colonies like Virginia and Maryland in the Chesapeake bay area started to establish ways of life that began to develop very different lifestyles. The reasoning behind the foundation of each colony is what created such a substantial amount of difference between two areas of English settlement. Following the defeat of the Spanish armada, England finally had the power to venture out to the Americas after hearing about a century s worth of Spanish success in that region themselves. Single Englishmen in search of wealth began to sail to America, and did not find the gold they were searching for. It was not until the success from the crop tobacco, did anyone in Virginia prosper. This set the stage for a huge colony with an economy relying on large plantations of this new staple crop. The many who sought out the Massachusetts bay colony in New England were likely not going to strike rich on a plantation, but to either escape the English Church, or to start a new life for their family. However, in the context of comparing this quote to economics, or perhaps banking, one could say that what he meant was that the choices that are made today might not be judged until later down the road. For example, a recession is not something that just happens over night. In the event leading up to a recession, there are many factors and every recession is unique in their own way. As for the great recession in 2008, the causes included subprime lending, and greed amongst lenders and borrowers. Before jumping straight into the causes of the 2008 recession, first you must be informed of the history in previous recessions America has had to face. Since the Great Depression ended in mid 1930 s, America has had to overcome around eleven recessions. Now some might argue that not all recorded recessions were worthy of getting the tittle as an official recession. Many will simply say it was slight hiccup in the economy because of the short six to eight month duration of the smaller recessions. AO is a patient who is 19 years of age and was assessed by an Alverno College student nurse who uses the Gordon s Functional Health Patterns as a guide in gathering subjective information. Since the patient can fall in one or both age groups of adolescence and young adult hood, information for both patterns have been included. Once data is collected, a diagnoses can be determined in any areas of concern. Developmental Stage According to Erikson s stages of development, AO could be categorized into two different stages. The first stage is identity vs. role confusion, this is where an adolescent is trying to find out who they are and what their place is in life. If their search turns out to be challenging, it could lead to a crisis where a person almost has to step backwards, revaluate to be able to move forward again. AO positively identified with this stage because she is enrolled in college and working hard to be successful in her classes as a future nurse. AO did not show any signs of current role confusion. There is no evidence of tattoos or piercings, delinquent behavior or apparent changes in her mental health status that lead one to believe that a crisis is present (Edelman, Kudzma Mandle, 2014, p. 522). Linguistic Genius Of Babies Book Review Patricia Kuhl s TED Talk lecture, The Linguistic Genius of Babies, is an overview of how infants as young as six months old are capable of discriminating between the units of all languages equally, but at ten months, infants tend to become better at distinguishing between units of their native language and worse at those of a foreign language. This shows that there is a critical period not just for language acquisition but also for the ability to acquire a second language. Therefore, parents who with for their children to have a bilingual advantage should expose infants to a second language as soon as possible. Noam Chomsky believed that humans are genetically designed with the capacity to learn language. Humans have a system of common rules and properties, called universal grammar, which allows us to learn any world language. It appears that Kuhl s research supports this theory. Kuhl exposed American infants, who had only been previously exposed to English, to Mandarin during the critical period for language acquisition. • 44. The Parson Compare And Contrast Colin McDonald EN1214 Assignment 1 This essay will explore two texts, the introduction to the Parson s Tale and Chaucer s Retraction. Through the use of the Norton Anthology texts, and outside sources, we will look at the content and tone of the Parsons tale to determine tone, analyze the character of the Parson. For Chaucer s Retraction, we will observe the content and history to determine the reason for using this particular style to end the tales. The Parson as a character is often considered the only actual representation of good in the entirety of The Canterbury tales. He is the only person who is seen as practicing his own advice. Not once does he entertain the idea of altering the word of god, through rhyme or other means, to better entertain his companions. Thou getest fable noon ytold for me (311/31), nor will they get poetry; he can not rhyme his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The continuous use of references to Jesus, and Christ, such as I wol ful fain at Cristes Reerence , and jesu for his grace with me sende.. add to idea that the Parson is really a God fearing man. At some points, the parson goes as far as to call fables wretchedness, and asks why he should hurt himself, when rather he could give a sermon to spread the word of god. It is clear that the Parson s only goal is to instruct his companions on the topic of God. Most everything that Chaucer wrote in the Canterbury Tales was critical of the church, clergy, or religion itself. It is curious then that he finished the tales with a complete retraction. Why would a man, who had devoted his life to writing about the fallacies in those in power around him, namely the church, have such a sudden change of heart? Furthermore, why wouldn t Chaucer simply prevent his works from being published, rather than write a full retraction, asking god and Christ to have mercy on me and forgive my giltes and namely of my translacions and enditinges .(Retraction ... Just imagine life without television, a microwave, or even air conditioning. Well, thanks to the 1930 s and 1940 s you aren t devastated and grateful for what you have. It was not like the air conditioning we have today, back then the air conditioning systems were not aimed at human comfort, however they were designed to control the humidity. His collar was tightening around his neck. He felt as if every twitch in his body was amplified as she wrapped her arms around him. They embraced. It is apparent that there was a biological reaction internally with the excerpt from above. The male, in response to sexual stimuli, approaches the first phase of Masters and Johnson sexual response cycle, the excitement phase. The female would have the similar reaction. However, there would also be differences as well. Blood flow would be increased to the abdominal portions for both male and female. However, this increased blood flow would create different environments for both. For example, the male would have an increase in blood flow to the penis, which would cause constriction in the blood vessels to form an erection. The female would have an increase in blood flow to the labia minora, majora, and further causing transduction, or increased vaginal lubrication. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The penis becomes fully erect, and the testes move closer to the body cavity (Green, 2014, p162). The female organs go through their own metamorphosis. The clitoris withdraws underneath the clitoral hood. The vagina opens at the upper portion of the vaginal canal, creating a vessel to collect sperm.
