Wound Assessment Essays
Introduction The process of wound assessment requires accurate and appropriate interventions
while dealing with the patients. There are some major components which the operator must
consider to effectively access an infection, and they require a range of skills and knowledge. These
factors are the knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology, the understanding of the various
factors that accelerate wound growth, and the ability to listen and understand the patient s needs. In
wound accessing, the doctor should have an idea concerning the number and location of wounds,
the required treatments depending on the type of infection, the type of wound in accordance to
various grading given, and the procedures to follow to achieve the treatment... Show more content

Question 1: Importance of having information concerning the postoperative assessment during
nursing admission The assessment of the patient s care needs is based on the type of infection. As
such, nurses have the responsibility of providing a high quality health care to the patients. The
postoperative assessment involves assessing the patient s perceptions related to behavior and
physiologic responses. It also involves the monitoring of the pain from the patient during the
treatment period based on the operations performed. In postoperative assessment, the patient s
wound is monitored in relation to the healing frequency, pain felt, and the availability of some
foreign substances like the body discharges. Obtaining the information relating to post operative
assessment ensures that the patient is well taken care of by the nurse after operations, and avoids
incidences of other circumstances that might hinder quick healing (Grocott, 2007). Once the patient
gathers the information concerning the postoperative assessment, then a decision is made whether
to seek medication from the same hospital or look for other alternatives. In the case of Sophie, it
was clear that the nurses were not keen in following the postoperative assessment, therefore,
causing the wound to obtain infections.

Designing A Design And Building Health Care Facilities For...
In the past 15 years, modular constructions are widely used in all kinds of new buildings.
Architects prefer the way of built and design because of the sustainable and economic
performances. Also, it is an ideal way to improve the variability of a project significantly to adjust
to the development of the urban and growth of the population. Texas has the best health care
facilities and medical research institutes in the world and keep growing rapidly for decades. It
should be a promising design practice to apply modular construction to design and build health care
facilities for higher efficiency and sustainability. Although many researches had done in both filed
of design, there are only a few attention on strategies to combine them... Show more content on

The built environment should be as importance as the building process (Guenther, 2009).
As the trend of healthcare architecture research and design, sustainability is researched by scholars.
What is more important, the theory should be tested and practiced in planning, designing and
constructing. Varied strategies have been worked out by world wide designers and constructors.
Modular construction and design is one of the thousands of strategies. A research done by Wu
(2014) analyzed the ecological performance of modular constructions. By criteria of the LEED,
charts and calculations were finished to prove sustainable performance of buildings. Also, the
author summarized how modular construction works. First, designers should figure out specific
rule to determine the modular decomposition. Then, each modular was designed individually by
sustainable standard. At last, the modules would be combined together and test the function
requirement (Wu, 2014). The author also mentioned that a green building technology modular
system could be built up by combining with the theory and the characteristics of green building
technology system. Obviously, it is a unique way of design using modular as thinking and design
method, also can be called a theory, to meet the sustainable requirements. As a kind of construction
method, modular construction itself has own features including sustainability. A book

Italian Culture and Change
The World. A spherical globe filled with a multitude of different cultures, nations, and ethnicities.
Yet we are all part of the same planet, the same singular race of humanity. When assigned with this
assignment to choose one country out of this vast array, we went with one that one of our group
members was most familiar with. We chose the beautiful European country and cultural center of
Italy. It was one that one of our group members had personally visited within the last year and her
experience gave us some amazing insight into what the actual culture of Italy consisted of. It was
much more enlightening than reading any book, although those sources were just as helpful in the
researched conducted. With this decision we reached the verdict that we would be doing the
Contemporary World Issues Project. Then after careful consideration we decided to focus the
research and project on the overall change in Italy s population, examining factors like migration,
ethnic marriages, foreign residents, and changing cultural values. We also wanted to cover the
overall change in Italian culture with the decline in traditional craft making processes and the
overall industrialization in the Italian manufacturing and agricultural sectors.
The project was started by dividing up the actual needed information into sections for each of the
participants to research on their own. We decided to gather up basic information about different
sectors of the Italian world/culture. We divided up into

Cosmopolit Not The Drink
Cosmopolitan... Not the Drink! The word cosmopolitanism, derived from Greek, means that
humans are part of a global civilization. Cosmos signifies the earth, and polis means city or state.
The Enlightenment philosophers Emmanuel Kant and Baron de Montesquieu interpreted the idea
slightly differently but fundamentally agreed that it entails the communication and exchange of
varied cultures, especially through commerce. Cosmopolitism is not to be confused with legal
pluralism, discussed by Lauren Benton and Lisa Ford, which is the continuation of numerous,
somewhat independent legal structures inside one region existing simultaneously. Though they
seem similar at first glance, legal pluralism has been proven to be a failure, while... Show more

These two drastically different societal groups are still accountable to the same rules. Anthony
Anghie, a professor at the University of Utah, wrote in his book, Imperialism, Sovereignty and the
Making of International Law, the universal system of divine law administered by the Pope is
replaced by the universal natural law system of jus gentium whose rules may be ascertained by the
use of reason (Anghie, 325). Reason is a human characteristic, so everyone, from natives of South
America to religious Spanish Catholics can understand the universal laws. Because all people use
their reason to determine universal laws, all cultures share certain values. Grotius, a believer in
universal law, argued that God, wished human friendships to be engendered by mutual needs and
resources (Grotius, 1). The needs of humanity cannot be met in just one geographical location, so
global trading is required. The interaction of these different cultures, by means of commerce, results
in the creation of the cosmopolitan. One society may be able to harvest a certain product better than
another, so mutual respect and principles for all of humanity are required. Without it, humanity will
not have access to all of the creations of the world, and economic activity and trade would be
substantially diminished. Kant wrote in his work, Perpetual Peace: A Philosophical Sketch, that he
believed peace was achieved through commerce. Commerce globalizes and interconnects

The two sources are both primary because they are documented letters by individuals who wrote
letters to prominent people in certain positions of authority during the Great Depression. The first
letter was written by a taxpayer from Hornell, New York March 7, 1934 and the other letter was
written by a male (D.B.P.) during the timeline reference of 1929 1939. The questions the first letter
raises are about the relief agencies in the United Statesand the possible need for investigation of
the type of work the agencies were performing. The other questions dealt with are the agencies
giving relief to ignorant foreigners who might not be citizens deserving of assistance because they
were here in the United States by illegal means. The first letter considering the frame of reference

Hornell, New York (male) also made a character assumption because he talked to an Italian man
who was drinking alcohol (red wine) at the time while his wife went to work. During that time
many men were out of work because their wives could find work for less than half of the pay

How Health Orientated Is A Group Of Students Essay
A study was conducted to determine how health orientated was a group of students in a Psychology
302 Inferential Statistics course. They also examine if those students who are high in health
orientation different from those who are low in health orientation. The participant were college
students who attend California State University, Los Angeles enrolled in this course. There were 25
participants both female and male from diverse nationalities. We asked the participants to fill out a
30 minute questionnaire that consisted of 12 questions regarding their health. These questions were
measured using a 1 7 scale where 1 = not at all, 4 = moderately, 7 = definitely.
Questions 1 5 in our questionnaire were added to create a total health orientation score. Based
on a median split of the total score the class was divided into high and low orientation groups. 12
participants were in the high health group and 13 were in the low health group. To measure how
health oriented was the entire class we used a 5 35 scale where; 5 = not at all, 20 = moderately, 35
= definitely. Therefore, the lowest score a person can receive was 5 and the highest score a
person can receive was 35. The entire class (M=20.36, SD=4.932) reported being moderately in
terms of how health orientated were they.
To determine if the students who are high in health orientation different from those who are low,
the following 7 questions were asked of the class and were measured using a 1 7 scale. Participants

Replacing Amputated Limbs with Prosthetics
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Prosthetic limb is an artificial device that is used to replace
the amputated part of the patient s limb. Myo prosthetic limb takes the signals from the patient s
muscles, which are live, to operate the artificial limb that is being used to replace the amputated
part of the arm. Through the mechanical and electrical technologies applications it tries to copy
the movement of the actual limb. In most cases, the bicep or triceps muscles can be used to
retrieve those signals which are to be processed further through circuitry. Other than that, any
other muscle that is active and can give the slight electrical signal can be used to process the
signal. Myo prosthetic limb comprises of electrical portion, that is the circuitry, as well as the
mechanical portion that is the actuator and gripper. The signals that are received can be used to
actuate the gripper through which any object can be picked, held and released as per the
requirement of the patient. Multiple prototypes were developed and improved in the previous
years. But they needed few improvements to make them work perfectly. The improvements were
done this year. The signal acquisition and gripper actuation were improved which resulted in the
more efficient response of the limb. The response of the gripper was greatly improved as well.
The overall reliability of the system was increased significantly and was brought to a level where
it could be represented as a product. The circuitry was

Based on my week, I spend the bulk of my time on school associated activities. This was not a
surprise to me, what I was surprised by was the small amounts of time that I devote to my
religion. Although I attend seminary, read my scriptures, and pray everyday, the accumulative
time of all on these activities adds to just over an hour a day. I am quite aware of how I spend my
time, it is very unusual for me to lay around and waste time of useless tasks.
2. Based on my week, I can only largely identify two main values from exercise #1: knowledge
and service. This makes sense because I spend 32 hours sitting in class a week. This doesn t
include time spent on homework or other corresponding activities. Something that did not make too
large of an appearance was my spirituality. I will admit that my scripture studies and other related
activities were extremely diminished this week. But it is to be expected that my religion isn t quite
as evident within my daily schedule because it isn t practical to spend over 4 hours a day reading
scriptures, there simply isn t enough time. True spirituality is seen through more subtle actions than
in extravagant activities that draw large amounts of attention. With this considered, I do still need

A Comparison Of Popular Music In The 1980s
The music world had many changes in 1975. Tony was not really a fan of popular music. His
preferences strayed from the pop to the bands he had enjoyed in past years: Traffic, Eric

Steely Dan; King Crimson. Bob Marley and the Wailers became one of his favorite bands that year.
Though he still enjoyed Fleetwood Mac, Tony lamented the addition of Stevie Nicks, whom he

Romeo And Juliet 1968 Vs 1996
The 1968 film version of Romeo and Juliet is more tightly; aligned to what Shakespeare intended
in consideration of the setting, Juliet s impression, and verbal exchanges. When analyzing each
film, it is clear to see the same plot, just portrayed differently. To begin, the settings of both films
took place at the Capulet s home where Romeo came to meet Juliet. While the 1968 film took
more of an authentic path, the 1996 film took an modern path. In the 1996 film, the main setting
was the pool, which strays from the play because it is the balcony scene. It looked as if there
may have been a balcony, but that was just a window opening and not a true balcony. This film
was much more out in the open, with security cameras to create more tension; comparatively, the
1968 film was much more secluded and hidden by trees. In this film Juliet is on a large balcony
which coincides with The Balcony Scene in the original play; henceforth making the 1968 film

looks much older than fourteen in the the 1996 film and portrays she knows and has

more cautious than the 1996 film. She is more aware what they are doing is wrong whereas the

Getting Inspiration from Historical Sources of Fashion
To what extent have fashion/textile designers working over the last thirty years used historical
sources to inform their practice?
Historical modes of dress or history in general offers invaluable inspiration for contemporary
designers helping to develop and inform ideas of shape, style, proportions and detail. In this essay
I will explore and explain how designers have used the past to inform their work, whether an
expression of political, social, or traditional opinions and ideals. I will particularly focus on
Alexander McQueen s political approach, Vivienne Westwoods social comment s, and Cath Kidston
s play on vintage and nostalgia and the historical sources that have inspired these.
builds new, more complex narratives about both the past and present .
It is ironic that to keep fashion fresh, it must be informed and inspired by the past.
Eclectic and cultured creations
To feed out identities that, like fashion, are also developed and grown from the past. How can we
go forward if we do not learn from the past? To ignore the lessons of history is to go backwards
while the rest of the world moves on.
Philosophical thought
The past offers just as much mystery and allure as the future, if not more, naturally appealing to the
human imagination, offering sentiment and familial value that we find comfort in.
Everybody likes to know what has happened. This is inclusive of fashion too.

So why doesn t globalization create a flatter world? In Shanghai Rising Part 1 Saskia Sassen
explains that cross border economic processes like flows of capital, labor, goods, raw materials,
and travelers have been around for a long time, and that those processes predominantly have
taken place between nation states over the course of the last century. As a result of privatization,
deregulation, the opening up of national economies to foreign firms, and the growing
participation of national economic actors in global markets that has change quite drastically
since the 1980s. These changes have led to a new system in the world economy in which nation
states are losing their importance relative to other subnational special units; mostly cities and
regions, global electronic markets, and free trade blocks. Cities are now able to specialize in
certain aspects of the economy, and for big corporations it often makes economic sense to
centralize all of their activities in one place anymore. Because of technological advancement firms
can now divide their activities over multiple places all over the globe to where it strategically
makes most sense. But Sassen also notes that the more a firm s activities are dispersed over
different cities and countries, the more complex these networks of different firms and cities get,

The Representation Of Women s Film I Have Selected Were...
A2 Media Coursework Production Evaluation
The focus of my investigation was to analyse the representation of women in horror films. The
films I have selected were Resident Evil Retribution (2012) and Halloween (1978). In the film,
Resident Evil Retribution, the representation of women was stronger, whereas Halloween
represented females as weak and vulnerable as they are from a different epoch. I have used codes
and conventions and also subverted the representation of women, in my opening sequence of a
horror film, which I will be discussing with further details.
The codes and conventions include:

The subversion of stereotypes:

The opening sequence I have created has similar conventions to Halloween (1978). During the
closing equilibrium when Judith Myer is screaming it suggests she is weak and vulnerable, which I
have included where both of the young, female characters scream, once they see the person with the

A Silence Ended in Scrap dragon by Naomi Kritzer Essay
Silence is always the calm before the storm. Many years can go by with calm but it takes only
one second of a storm for everyone to take notice. There is always another side to a story but it is
rare that people hear that side. The silence someone can hold inside is a powerful good or it can be
a crushing detriment. In the story Scrap dragon by
Naomi Kritzer she describes the story of a princess, but it s in the view of the reader.
The Reader happens to be someone reading a story to a younger child, and the child becomes a

Capitalism approach by Hall and Soskice (2001) is one of the most significant concepts that is
being widely discussed. According to Hall and Thelen (2005), the varieties of capitalism is a firm
centered approach where firm is placed as a key actor and is being considered relational. It
emphasizes the concept of institutional complementarities, which ...one set of institutions is

Institutional Complementarities
The concept of institutional complementarities revolves around the notion of the idea that the co
existence (within a given system) of two or more institutions mutually enhances the performance
contribution of each individual institution (Deeg, 2007. P.611). Hopner (2005) argued that the idea
of complementary implies that different spheres of institutions could only be combined in a number
of ways in order to be effective, which enhanced the theory of the existence of various types of
capitalisms. Hall and Soskice (2001) identified these differences in the varieties of capitalism
literature and then classified economies into liberal market economies and coordinated market
economies, each with its unique institutional complementarities.

Under the VoC framework, economies of various nations are mainly being classified into either
liberal market economies or coordinated market economies. According to Deeg and Jackson (2008),
market competitions and hierarchies are the main ways for firms to coordinate activities with other
spheres in liberal market economies. The supply and demand for products is determined by price
movements in the markets to obtain equilibrium, where market exchanges are conducted in an arm
s length with formal contracting. With stock market financing being the major way to obtain funds,
the financial systems of LMEs operate mainly based on information that are

The British House Of Lords Arguments Against Euthanasia
Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in
an irreversible coma. It is deliberately ending a person s life to relieve suffering. Euthanasia
sometimes refers to any method of hastening a suffering person s death, including ending life
sustaining medical treatment, assisting in suicide, and taking direct action (such as giving a lethal
injection) to cause death. At other times, it refers only to taking direct action to cause another s
death. For example, a doctor who gives a patient with terminal cancer an overdose of muscle
relaxants to end their life would be considered to have carried out euthanasia.
There are different euthanasia laws in each country. The British House of Lords

The Fundamental Issue Of Stakeholder Management
INTRODUCTION
Stakeholder theory
The fundamental issue in stakeholder management is to specify stakeholders or answer this
question that who stakeholders are. There is not much agreement on stakeholder definition
among researchers and project management experts. Mitchel states that various concepts in
relation to stakeholder definition is due to their views to organisation or firm. So there are
narrow and broad definitions. For instance, Freeman s definition is broad one. He defines
stakeholder as any group or individual who can affect or be affected by the achievement of
organisation or firm s objectives. In contrast, Clarkson has narrower view as he considers risk
for stakeholder concept. He believes this risk is due to form of investment in that firm. In fact,
basis of narrow view can be due to limitation in resources, budget, time or form of organisation s
asset. PMBOK s stakeholder definition is similar to Freeman s definition. The only difference is
that organisation is also can be a stakeholder and influence or impact can be due to decision or
outcome of a project.
Management of stakeholders in projects
Project stakeholder management contains processes to identify stakeholders, their expectations,
concerns, needs, interests and their influences in the first step and then to adopt appropriate
management strategies to engage the identified stakeholders in project execution in the next step.
Identify stakeholders
According to PMBOK, all groups or individuals who have

Importance Of My Life
In life we are given lessons such as to Never give up or Be yourself, A life lesson that I will neer

So I quit, that was the right thing to do at the time. Wednesday morning I was going to the

1970s Literature
You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is to never get involved
in a land war in Asia. (The Princess Bride, 1973). This quote from the novel directly speaks to the
political arena that was in play in the 1970s. Three major political events occurred in the 1970s:
The Vietnam War, The Watergate Scandal, and The Cold War
. This paper explores the influence of
these events of the literature of the time. The Vietnam War spanned more than ten years, ending
in 1975. This contributed to the highly political decade of the 1970s. This war affected many
U.S. citizens, and there were many deaths. The U.S. deploys over 500,000 American troops to
Vietnam (The Vietnam War, 1962 1975). Another major political event of the 1970s was the
Watergate Scandal of 1972. The Watergate Scandal was the illegal cover up of a burglary that
resulted in the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon (Events, Volume 8: Superpower: 1959

and tiny hairs in the tube s lining help push it down the narrow passageway toward the uterus. After

We live in a new world, a world that is constantly changing. We are forever adapting to all these

Webster Dictionary is: The use of ever changing science in industry, engineering, etc., to invent

with using tech all the time, the problem occurs when you can t stop using it. The addiction

For the past few years, the use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as drone, has
grown quickly. Originally, drones were developed for military applications and now it is
significantly important in the technology field and society. There are certain proposals and public
interest in using drones for food and package delivery (Elzweig, 2015). This indicates that drones
have diversified from military use to consumer use, becoming a part of everyday life. However,
there are several concerns associated with implementing delivery drones, this includes
organisational structure, safety and security, privacy and airspace interference (Doa, Gopi, Maione,
2016). This report s objectives are:
To discuss the use of drones in the future for delivery in New Zealand.
To identify the benefits of using drones.
To address potential concerns associated with using drones.
To discuss how to mitigate these concerns through application of management function, planning.

Native American Critical Thinking Essay
The article that I had read was about the many things originally thought of Native Americans and
the New World. It then speaks of what was actually true about the whole ordeal. The first thing
that surprised me was the Cahokia tribe of the Mississippi. I had always heard about the fairly
advanced Native American tribes in the Mississippi River region, but never has it been explained
in great detail to show their true greatness. What surprised me the most is that the population of
the Cahokia was so huge in the region as well as the great mounds that were built. The Great Sun,
who was the leader of the Cahokia, also was treated as if he must ve been an Egyptian Pharaoh.
The Europeans thought that the Native Americans were a savage people who didn t deserve to be
the true inhabitants of the New World. They seemed to have twisted every good action that the
tribes performed and make them sound undeserving of a great status, even if it meant bathing or
giving presents to the Europeans. The truth is, the Europeans weren t tolerant to the different

Themes Of Flowers For Algernon
Flowers for Algernon Essay by Matthew Duran
Flowers for Algernon Essay by Matthew Duran In Flowers for Algernon, numerous themes appear
throughout Charlie Gordon s journey. Charlie Gordon, the story s protagonist, is considered to be
used as a test subject for an original experiment that can potentially change the face of science.
After many tests, Charlie undergoes an operation, as a result, a slow progression begins in his
overall intelligence levels.
In the excerpt Flowers for Algernon written by Daniel Keyes, the theme conveyed is that people
should try to modify nature s course for the benefit of science. Daniel Keyes first expresses this
by the characters dialogue, at first when Charlie spoke, he was lost, he spoke with no emotion
and did not truly nor fully understand the concept of his conversations, but after the surgery, he
communicated with a passion he knew what he was saying and could get is point across to
other people. The second thing Keyes asserts is Algernon, without the operation Algernon would
just be a normal mouse eating and sleeping, doing what all other pet mice do, but with the
surgery, Algernon became important, he was the foundation for the experiment and there was a
more important point in his life, but Algernon did eventually decline and pass away but without
him the experiment would have been in question and Algernon helped answer those questions,
Algernon also served as a friend and representation of Charlie, this is due to the fact that both
Algernon and Charlie were the only ones who received this special surgery, so in a sense they
both were connected. Charlie really loved Algernon and Algernon sort of understood that, him
and Charlie were connected mentally and physically, with our the operation this bond would no
have been possible so this whole operation helped Charlie receive a good friend not a regular
companion. The final example Keyes provides is Charlie Gordon s progress reports, at first,
Charlie wrote incorrectly and with no emotion, bland, but after the operation, he wrote correctly
and with feelings because he was experiencing life he felt sadness, a bit of happiness and love
something he could not have felt without the surgery, people may argue that he

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Biometric Security System
As the use of digital data is becoming more rampant and widespread there is now a high
demand for users to protect their information with the use highly encrypted passwords and or ID

ID cards are misused stolen counterfeited and so on. This increasing battle with cyber security
has led to the birth of biometric security systems. The Biometric security system is a fairly new
technology that has indeed impacted the lives of numerous persons. This essay will examine
what is meant by biometric security system as well as the advantages and disadvantages that

Well last, like all technological innovation the biometric security system does come with
disadvantages: one of the most important yet most unfortunate disadvantage is that it may cause
the loss of jobs for some person s example the innovation of this new technology makes some
security guards jobs almost useless as the system will and can do the same and even more than a
security persona could do with little to no extra cost to a company or business owners. According
to (Wikipedia ,2014) other disadvantages include in some situation the lack of privacy which
may even cause discrimination because when the information is enrolled and stored to the system
database the information may be used for things other than what the individual has consented .

Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine
It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early
Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress.
The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and
progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power
led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the
progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing presscontributed to
providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand
and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority
of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge.
From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high
mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people
anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on
what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health,
therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited .
However, while there was some progress in this field throughout the period it was not as drastic as
one would expect, the Galenic body of the four humours was still a dominant

Revelation is called the book of mysteries and also the book of Saint John the Divine. However, it
is important to note that John was not the source of the revelation but the instrument used to make
known Divine revelation. The very first verse in the book reveals its source. It informs its readers
that the book and its content is all about Jesus Christ. God the Father is the source of the message
of Revelation. He gave it to Jesus to show unto his servant things which must soon come to pass.
Jesus gave the message to his angel who conveys it to his servant John. John is the instrument
God used to get the messages delivered to the seven churches. The chain of command is clearly

selling out tickets for his concerts and tours to date. Along with bringing home quite a luxurious
paycheck, his name and face have been seen on merchandise, billboards, and other public displays.
Wiz Khalifa has made it clear through his music that he has a strong passion towards smoking
pot, as someone who is in the public eye, he has confidently expressed being high as strength
through his music. With this being said, he has definitely rallied up a fan base of stoners who are
quite admirable of his lifestyle.
As a firm believer to the idea that celebrities influence our lifestyles, BeyoncГ© personally, has
significantly influenced me. Growing up, BeyoncГ© has been a role model since I was very
young and still continues to live up to that standard today. She is considered to be a VERY
mainstream artist and entertainer. What inspires me about her is the genuine quality in her work,
which she produces. She is undeniably talented and over a long period of time she has been able
to sustain excellent work ethics and authentic passion in everything she does. All these

The Preparation of Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) with Thin...
Experiment 3: The preparation of acetaminophen (paracetamol) with thin layer chromatography
(TLC) to monitor the reaction.
Abstract:
This experiment is to demonstrate the preparation of paracetamol and its properties. Reflux and
filtration of 4 aminophenol and acetic anhydride formed the crude sample. Further analysis of dry
white crystals were used to give quantitative measurements and a percentage yield of 46% was
obtained. The overall conclusion is that the acetic anhydride reacted with the NH2 group.
Materials and Methods:
1. We weighed out (on a top pan balance) 4 aminophenol (about 11.0g) in a weighing boat and
transfer the powder to a 250cm3 round bottomed flask (RBF) using a powder funnel. 2. Then
recorded the amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sample + Ethanol= Colourless solution
FeCl3 was then added to this solution and a positive colour change was seen, as it turned green
Sample + Ethanol + FeCl3 = Dark Green solution
This was then repeated using Salicyclic Acid instead of the sample to give a reference material as it
will give a positive test for a phenol.
Salicyclic Acid + Ethanol = Colourless solution
Salicyclic Acid + Ethanol + FeCl3 =Purple solution
The positive colour change from colourless to dark green of the sample means that the phenol
group is present in the sample. Therefore indicating that the acetic anhydride has reacted with the
amino group.
3. Determine the melting point and record the infrared spectrum of the dry solid.
Melting Point:
The melting point of sample obtained is: 1680C
Literature Value: [1]: 169 1720C
Fig 1.1 Infrared Spectra of Paracetamol:
The infrared spectrum of paracetamol shows the appearance of a new peak at 1561 1650cm 1
this represents the carbonyl group from the acetic anhydride, meaning that paracetamol has been
formed. The OH peak is still present at 3109 3319cm 1 this shows that the phenol group is still
attached to paracetamol. From the infrared spectra you can also see that the NH2 group has
disappeared. This is as it has been selectively acetylated by acetic anhydride to form paracetamol.

Athletic Scholarships Essay
Athletic Scholarships
There are many good athletes in professional sports today. There are many good athletes in
college sports today also. Some of the biggest names in sports are Mark McGwire, Steve Young,
Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, and so on. Now, imagine if all of those players never made it to the
pros. What would happen to professional sports? Why are they in the pros now? To make it into
professional sports you need more than just talent. You need opportunity. College scholarshipsnot
only give athletes the opportunity to reach the professional ranks, but also give the chance for
many players to earn a degree in higher education. Many people dream of being a professional
athlete. Some people make it a reality, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After it s done baking, the final product is a delicious cake. The cake can t be complete without it
being baked. There can not be a missed step in the process. Could Mark McGwire have made it to
the pros without attending The University of Southern California(USC) on an athletic scholarship or
Michael Jordan without attending North Carolina, Allen Iverson without attending Georgetown
University, or Steve Young without attending Brigham Young University
? To earn a spot on a roster,
you can not miss a step in the process of getting there. A college scholarship is a giant step.
Along with college scholarships being a step to making it into professional sports, it is also
many times the only way for some people to earn a college degree. College is very expensive
and can many times run young adults into a large debt once out of college. For example, USC
can cost up to $25,000 a year to attend. That includes tuition, books, parking, room, and board. At
the end of a 4 year term at USC, the total comes out to about $100,000. That $100,000 is excluding
other living expenses such as gas, car payment, car insurance, clothing, and general spending
money. Not only is that figure contained to USC but can be easily applied to Georgetown, Brigham
Young and The University of North Carolina. That s a very expensive education and not everybody
has the luxury of spending that much money. Many people would

Analysis Of German Expressionism In The Cabinet Of Dr....
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari Response Paper #5 The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is a German
Expressionist film that was released in 1920. The film was directed by Robert Wiene.
Expressionism is defined as a visible world that is reshaped and even, distorted by internal forces
such as soul, spirit, subjectivity, and emotion. A major component of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
is it contains various examples of mise en scГЁne, which is associated with visual aspects such as
props in the background or clothing and the makeup the actor is wearing. Moreover, boxes within

Meanwhile, the policeman and Francis are peeping through a box shaped peephole in at the
prisoner. This scene is an example of boxes within boxes because the prisoner is enclosed in a
cell and is being viewed from the exterior of the cell through a peephole. The prisoner is enclosed
in the cell, while the cell is enclosed in the police station. Mise en scГЁne is also present in this
scene, with the number five that is on the wall outside of the cell. It is not a coincidence that it
is act five of the film. Additionally, the walls near the jail cell are distorted. The wall angles look
similar to the shape of the peepholes as well. The boxes within boxes in this scene expresses
Francis paranoia and distorted reality. Francis was worried the prisoner had escaped and
attempted to murder Jane, but this was all inside his distorted reality. Francis distorted reality
may also be symbolized in the distorted walls as well. Lastly, Francis mind contains an example
of boxes within boxes because in his mind he sees Dr. Caligari as the mentally unstable one, but
in reality, it is him who is unstable. Furthermore, Francis mind is a box that is enclosed in
delirium, which is enclosed in another box, which is the actual reality. Mise en scГЁne can be
seen when both Dr. Caligari and Francis are both confined to a straitjacket and placed in a cell at
different times in the film. Another example of mise en scГЁne is the movements Dr. Caligari

Freedom And Independence Of Tibet Is A Violation Of Human...
Individual freedom and independence has become a part of Human Rights. Oppression, in any
form, is a violation of the universal values of human rights. Political consciousness of society also
has an increasingly globalized world. Issues and Human Rights enforcement effort no longer be
personal or exclusive but become a common struggle, the struggle of the international world. Many
cases of human rights violations that occur in the world, especially in conflict areas. Not only the
military who fought and became the victim, even civilians, women, and children, whose innocent
lives among the casualties. One of them is a violation of human rights by the Chinese against the
Tibetan people. Tibetis actually an area that is so beautiful and many tourists, but the presence of
these events makes the beauty of Tibet loss. Areas with low temperatures that just heats up due to
the rebellion that lasted decades.
The event began with the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1912, along with that, the 13th Dalai Lama,
the Tibetan spiritual leader, declared independence of Tibet. However, such freedom does not last
long because it was taken by the Chinese Government during Mao Tse Dong 1949. The Chinese

The Principles Of Scientific Management Focus On Increasing
The principles of scientific management focus on increasing employees productivity and efficiency.
After joining the industry, Taylor identified three fundamental characteristics of the industry that
contributed to its inefficiency. Their identification facilitated the development of the basic
principles of scientific management, which guided Taylor in eliminating waste, increasing
productivity, and efficiency. The elimination of waste functioned because of the systematization of
production process, systematization of tools, standardization of work and the wage incentive all
created to increase productivity (Tompkins, 2005). According to Tompkins (2005), monetary
incentive remains a practicable option, which public agencies utilize to... Show more content on

Taylor s theory was more applicable to manufacturing industry than the current service industry,
hence why it needs modification. He did not foresee the future of service industry and
telecommuting jobs. Telecommuting jobs are currently increasing in availability and popularity.
These jobs require innovative skills, promote managerial flexibility, autonomy, and use high level of
technology, which do not demand physical power like manufacturing industry. Presently, more
companies have shifted their focus from extrinsic motivation to intrinsic motivation, which matches
the needs of today s workforce. Nowadays companies employ different motivation strategies to
motivates their employees. For example, they use job rotation, job enlargement, and empowerment,
which Taylor did not mention. Job rotation is a temporary switching of job assignments, while job
enlargement is increasing the variety and number of tasks within a job (DuBrin, 2011). Based on
the above argument, the theory s problem is its failure to utilize other motivation strategies like job
rotation, job enlargement, and empowerment.
Recommendations
There are several ways of improving the scientific management theory to suit today s workforce. For
instance, companies can use job rotation, job enlargement, employee empowerment, and
telecommuting. Job rotation provides an exceptional opportunity regarding the sharing of
knowledge from the senior/experienced

Analysis Of Gloria Naylor s The Women Of Brewster Place
Within Gloria Naylor s The Women of Brewster Place and Amiri Baraka s Dutchman , there is a
heavy emphasis on society. Particularly how society influences interaction not just among African
Americans, but interactions among whites and African Americans as seen is Baraka s Dutchman.
However, both novels also continue to portray a reoccurring theme that has been prevalent within
this course, which is the struggle of African Americans in society. Throughout both works, society
plays a large role on the interactions that occur both interracially and intraracially. In The Women of
Brewster Place , Gloria Naylor represents many aspects that trouble African Americans faced during
an era where whites looked down upon them. Naylor places a larger emphasis on society due to the
living dynamic that is present during The Women of Brewster Place. Although, the novel is broken
down into several different narratives, which focuses on certain individuals, it portrays a sense of
community within each story told; therefore, linking society to each individual s attitude and
perspective. The community within Brewster place brings many different personalities together
from many different generations. The reason for this is due to the setting of Naylor s novel, which
takes place in a large community of migrant African Americans. Living in a community with people
who came from similar conditions causes the residents to bond over the hardships that many of
them have faced. This

Views Of Lying Research
Parents also lie to children. This is seen and understood by children. They are told about Santa, the
tooth fairy that their dead pet is alive and well and living on a farm, are just some examples of the
lies parents tell in this culture. These lies are told with no intention to harm but attempts to protect,
or indeed to perpetuate our storytelling cultural myths but this clearly sends the message that
sometimes it s ok to lie.

If we believe the negative media view then it is that they all lie as they are bogus and indeed for
some this would be a truth. However, there are reasons to believe, and this will be explored
further in this study, that it may be that this label is unfairly applied. It would be wrong to
assume that all lies are because they are bogus claimants; there are other motivations and types
of lies. In first observation of this practise in Calais it was for those an attempt to protect family
and other migrants from the truth of the painful reality of their situations. So these lies were not
motivated by self gain but in a form of `caring ` for others. I suppose what one would describe as a
white lie.
They lie because they feel that if they told the truth they would not be given asylum even though
they maybe illegitimate claimants with real reasons to fear them being returned. There is also the
belief that the lie is of no harm to anyone and therefore not considered as serious as lies with
victims. On some levels the home office may be viewed as the enemy that prevents and stands in

Analysis Of Modine s Security Standards For Manufacturing...
In the current global economy, companies continuously search to improve efficiency, reduce
overhead, and maintain positive financial growth. This search has led companies to look beyond
their traditional market horizons for expansion opportunities. For many companies this includes
establishing a strategic foothold in the international markets. Along with the challenges presented
by ordinary program expansion are the security concerns posed by access to foreign markets and
network as well as cultural and societal indoctrination. The purpose of this study then is to research,

The Evolution Of Punishment And Its Effect On Society
Introduction
The evolution of punishment has come a long way in Canada from Confederation in the 1800 s to
present day 21st century. Research has been going on continuously to identify whether these
punishments are based on a person s behaviour or on society itself. The word punishment is referred
to as a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure ( Punishment | Definition of
Punishment by Merriam Webster ). In today s society does the punishment equivalent to the crime
committed by an offender? Therefore, how much punishment should one receive based on their
offence? It is a conflicting matter that has brought the government and the public into speculation
on the judicial system from time to time. Punishment is a philosophy, which states many years back
when someone was seen committing wrongdoings they were punished by cutting off their heads or
hanging them.
During the evolution it used to be an eye for an eye, if you killed me, I went after your family as
revenge. The days have changed, where now they have introduced the Canadian Bill of laws, to
help with the punishment of offenders. Now capital punishment is punishments that result in death
penalties for people who have committed capital crimes, and offences. It is viewed around the
world as something different. For example, in certain parts of the world people do not believe in
punishment, whereby in some parts they do believe and take very extreme measures. In parts of the
world such as India,

Neil Postman s An Internet Age Response
Thirty years ago, Neil Postman argued that with TV, we are amusing ourselves to death. More
recently, in an Internet age response to Postman, opposing author Steven Johnson argues that
everything bad is good for you, including video games, television, Internet, and film.
Neil Postman builds his argument by breaking down television into its component parts:
photographs and the telegraph. He argues that both of these media inherently decontextualize their
content. Photographs are inherently out of context. They can be nothing else. The content is
photographed so that it can be viewed in a different context at a later time. Far from picturing a
figure and its background, the photo combines both into one object. The context becomes content.
Instead, words provide meaningful context to explain the pictures. This is why newspaper
photographs have captions. The telegraph, TV s other component, dislocates events from
geography. It takes information from a context where it is pertinent, meaningful, and relevant and
removes it to a location where it has little or no import. Only rarely will this information affect the
daily life of the far off reader. Thus, primarily it is simply interesting, but it is not relevant. It s
entertainment with an alias: News. By combining these irrelevant events with those context less
images, the television is inherently a decontextualizing agent itself. Try watching the television
news without sound and imagine watching it without captions.

mechanisms to engage and connect with its diverse constituents. However, it show a strong
emphasis on technology and it is shown to be critical to its business structure and for its
competitive advantage. In 2014 it invested nearly 9% of its annual revenue to fund its global
technologies, one of the largest investment ever made by them (JP Morgan Chase Co., 2014). It
have even hosted a coding competition for college students at its Manhattan headquarters. The
purpose of the competition, which included JP Morgan Chase technology executives as judges,
was for participants to create technological tools designed for nonprofits to improve its
operations. However, this contest was not only to benefit nonprofits, but it was used as a means
to expose aspiring technologists to JP Morgan Chase, who would then award internship offers to
the most promising students (Wisniewski, 2013). Advances in technology throughout the years
has allowed JP Morgan Chase costumers to take banking in its own hands without traveling to
the local branch or even using a computer. In 2014, there were over 200 million deposits made at

by 50%, JP Morgan Chase projects that by 2016 customers it will have further advanced its

The Traditional Family In The 1950 s
Family is defined in many ways in this chapter, Dalton stated there are different forms as families.
Such as Nuclear family which is familial form consisting of a father, a mother and their children.
He also describes an extended family, a kin network that extend outside or beyond the nuclear
family. (Dalton 453, 455) the traditional familyin the 1950s was a male known as the breadwinner,
a female housewife and their children (Dalton 455) unfortunately that is not the case today. It is
sad to say that the divorces have risen steeply since the 1950s, therefore breaking the families in
half. Most marriages end up in divorces now days, studies have shown that men are most likely
to marry again, sadly second marriages are most likely to fail as well (Coonts, 2010). Some
families did not have children they were known as empty nesters. As Dalton indicates that it was
not uncommon or a married couple to have a family with no children. It was not known as a
traditional family but then again it was existing. Back in the 1950s the traditional American family
was the dominant model. Today that is not the case about 61% of households have one or two
people living in them (U.S. Census Bureau, 2013c).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Athlete s Salary
As a sports fan I have always looked at athletes as well paid entertainers. These individuals are
lucky enough to make millions playing a game that they would probably play for free. With the
acquired wealth and visibility these professional athletes have it all. It has been suggested by many
that these athletes should serve as role models. Charles Barkleyformer Nation Basketball
Association all star player disagreed vehemently with that sentiment. Mr. Barkley believed that
athlete should not be role models for the sport that they play but should be role models as goodwill
ambassadors in aiding the less fortunate. Adrian Peterson (All Day) is one of my favorite athletes.
He is currently a running back with the Minnesota Vikingsof the National Football League. Mr.
Peterson setup a foundation in 2008 (the All Day Foundation) to raise awareness and funds for
projects that will help build a more prosperous future for at risk children. Adrian Peterson
established the All Day Foundation to raise awareness and funds for programs that inspire hope
and build a better future for at risk children (All day foundation, 2011). What caught my eye about
his foundation is that one of his corner stones of the foundation is girls empowerment. The
foundation has a goal of empowering young children with the skillsets and values that will enable
them to have the opportunity to become leaders. Adrian Peterson professes to be a Christian and

  • 2. Wound Assessment Essays Introduction The process of wound assessment requires accurate and appropriate interventions while dealing with the patients. There are some major components which the operator must consider to effectively access an infection, and they require a range of skills and knowledge. These factors are the knowledge of relevant anatomy and physiology, the understanding of the various factors that accelerate wound growth, and the ability to listen and understand the patient s needs. In wound accessing, the doctor should have an idea concerning the number and location of wounds, the required treatments depending on the type of infection, the type of wound in accordance to various grading given, and the procedures to follow to achieve the treatment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Question 1: Importance of having information concerning the postoperative assessment during nursing admission The assessment of the patient s care needs is based on the type of infection. As such, nurses have the responsibility of providing a high quality health care to the patients. The postoperative assessment involves assessing the patient s perceptions related to behavior and physiologic responses. It also involves the monitoring of the pain from the patient during the treatment period based on the operations performed. In postoperative assessment, the patient s wound is monitored in relation to the healing frequency, pain felt, and the availability of some foreign substances like the body discharges. Obtaining the information relating to post operative assessment ensures that the patient is well taken care of by the nurse after operations, and avoids incidences of other circumstances that might hinder quick healing (Grocott, 2007). Once the patient gathers the information concerning the postoperative assessment, then a decision is made whether to seek medication from the same hospital or look for other alternatives. In the case of Sophie, it was clear that the nurses were not keen in following the postoperative assessment, therefore, causing the wound to obtain infections. The built environment should be as importance as the building process (Guenther, 2009). As the trend of healthcare architecture research and design, sustainability is researched by scholars. What is more important, the theory should be tested and practiced in planning, designing and constructing. Varied strategies have been worked out by world wide designers and constructors. Modular construction and design is one of the thousands of strategies. A research done by Wu (2014) analyzed the ecological performance of modular constructions. By criteria of the LEED, charts and calculations were finished to prove sustainable performance of buildings. Also, the author summarized how modular construction works. First, designers should figure out specific rule to determine the modular decomposition. Then, each modular was designed individually by sustainable standard. At last, the modules would be combined together and test the function requirement (Wu, 2014). The author also mentioned that a green building technology modular system could be built up by combining with the theory and the characteristics of green building technology system. Obviously, it is a unique way of design using modular as thinking and design method, also can be called a theory, to meet the sustainable requirements. • 4. Italian Culture and Change The World. A spherical globe filled with a multitude of different cultures, nations, and ethnicities. Yet we are all part of the same planet, the same singular race of humanity. When assigned with this assignment to choose one country out of this vast array, we went with one that one of our group members was most familiar with. We chose the beautiful European country and cultural center of Italy. It was one that one of our group members had personally visited within the last year and her experience gave us some amazing insight into what the actual culture of Italy consisted of. It was much more enlightening than reading any book, although those sources were just as helpful in the researched conducted. With this decision we reached the verdict that we would be doing the Contemporary World Issues Project. Then after careful consideration we decided to focus the research and project on the overall change in Italy s population, examining factors like migration, ethnic marriages, foreign residents, and changing cultural values. We also wanted to cover the overall change in Italian culture with the decline in traditional craft making processes and the overall industrialization in the Italian manufacturing and agricultural sectors. The project was started by dividing up the actual needed information into sections for each of the participants to research on their own. We decided to gather up basic information about different sectors of the Italian world/culture. We divided up into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Cosmopolit Not The Drink Cosmopolitan... Not the Drink! The word cosmopolitanism, derived from Greek, means that humans are part of a global civilization. Cosmos signifies the earth, and polis means city or state. The Enlightenment philosophers Emmanuel Kant and Baron de Montesquieu interpreted the idea slightly differently but fundamentally agreed that it entails the communication and exchange of varied cultures, especially through commerce. Cosmopolitism is not to be confused with legal pluralism, discussed by Lauren Benton and Lisa Ford, which is the continuation of numerous, somewhat independent legal structures inside one region existing simultaneously. Though they seem similar at first glance, legal pluralism has been proven to be a failure, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two drastically different societal groups are still accountable to the same rules. Anthony Anghie, a professor at the University of Utah, wrote in his book, Imperialism, Sovereignty and the Making of International Law, the universal system of divine law administered by the Pope is replaced by the universal natural law system of jus gentium whose rules may be ascertained by the use of reason (Anghie, 325). Reason is a human characteristic, so everyone, from natives of South America to religious Spanish Catholics can understand the universal laws. Because all people use their reason to determine universal laws, all cultures share certain values. Grotius, a believer in universal law, argued that God, wished human friendships to be engendered by mutual needs and resources (Grotius, 1). The needs of humanity cannot be met in just one geographical location, so global trading is required. The interaction of these different cultures, by means of commerce, results in the creation of the cosmopolitan. One society may be able to harvest a certain product better than another, so mutual respect and principles for all of humanity are required. Without it, humanity will not have access to all of the creations of the world, and economic activity and trade would be substantially diminished. The questions the first letter raises are about the relief agencies in the United Statesand the possible need for investigation of the type of work the agencies were performing. The other questions dealt with are the agencies giving relief to ignorant foreigners who might not be citizens deserving of assistance because they were here in the United States by illegal means. The taxpayer from Hornell, New York (male) also made a character assumption because he talked to an Italian man who was drinking alcohol (red wine) at the time while his wife went to work. Myo prosthetic limb takes the signals from the patient s muscles, which are live, to operate the artificial limb that is being used to replace the amputated part of the arm. Through the mechanical and electrical technologies applications it tries to copy the movement of the actual limb. In most cases, the bicep or triceps muscles can be used to retrieve those signals which are to be processed further through circuitry. Other than that, any other muscle that is active and can give the slight electrical signal can be used to process the signal. Romeo And Juliet 1968 Vs 1996 The 1968 film version of Romeo and Juliet is more tightly; aligned to what Shakespeare intended in consideration of the setting, Juliet s impression, and verbal exchanges. When analyzing each film, it is clear to see the same plot, just portrayed differently. To begin, the settings of both films took place at the Capulet s home where Romeo came to meet Juliet. While the 1968 film took more of an authentic path, the 1996 film took an modern path. In the 1996 film, the main setting was the pool, which strays from the play because it is the balcony scene. It looked as if there may have been a balcony, but that was just a window opening and not a true balcony. This film was much more out in the open, with security cameras to create more tension; comparatively, the 1968 film was much more secluded and hidden by trees. As a result of privatization, deregulation, the opening up of national economies to foreign firms, and the growing participation of national economic actors in global markets that has change quite drastically since the 1980s. These changes have led to a new system in the world economy in which nation states are losing their importance relative to other subnational special units; mostly cities and regions, global electronic markets, and free trade blocks. Hopner (2005) argued that the idea of complementary implies that different spheres of institutions could only be combined in a number of ways in order to be effective, which enhanced the theory of the existence of various types of capitalisms. The Fundamental Issue Of Stakeholder Management INTRODUCTION Stakeholder theory The fundamental issue in stakeholder management is to specify stakeholders or answer this question that who stakeholders are. There is not much agreement on stakeholder definition among researchers and project management experts. Mitchel states that various concepts in relation to stakeholder definition is due to their views to organisation or firm. So there are narrow and broad definitions. For instance, Freeman s definition is broad one. He defines stakeholder as any group or individual who can affect or be affected by the achievement of organisation or firm s objectives. In contrast, Clarkson has narrower view as he considers risk for stakeholder concept. He believes this risk is due to form of investment in that firm. In fact, basis of narrow view can be due to limitation in resources, budget, time or form of organisation s asset. PMBOK s stakeholder definition is similar to Freeman s definition. The only difference is that organisation is also can be a stakeholder and influence or impact can be due to decision or outcome of a project. Management of stakeholders in projects Project stakeholder management contains processes to identify stakeholders, their expectations, concerns, needs, interests and their influences in the first step and then to adopt appropriate management strategies to engage the identified stakeholders in project execution in the next step. • 34. Themes Of Flowers For Algernon Flowers for Algernon Essay by Matthew Duran Flowers for Algernon Essay by Matthew Duran In Flowers for Algernon, numerous themes appear throughout Charlie Gordon s journey. Charlie Gordon, the story s protagonist, is considered to be used as a test subject for an original experiment that can potentially change the face of science. After many tests, Charlie undergoes an operation, as a result, a slow progression begins in his overall intelligence levels. In the excerpt Flowers for Algernon written by Daniel Keyes, the theme conveyed is that people should try to modify nature s course for the benefit of science. Daniel Keyes first expresses this by the characters dialogue, at first when Charlie spoke, he was lost, he spoke with no emotion and did not truly nor fully understand the concept of his conversations, but after the surgery, he communicated with a passion he knew what he was saying and could get is point across to other people. The second thing Keyes asserts is Algernon, without the operation Algernon would just be a normal mouse eating and sleeping, doing what all other pet mice do, but with the surgery, Algernon became important, he was the foundation for the experiment and there was a more important point in his life, but Algernon did eventually decline and pass away but without him the experiment would have been in question and Algernon helped answer those questions, Algernon also served as a friend and representation of Charlie, this is due to the fact that both Algernon and Charlie were the only ones who received this special surgery, so in a sense they both were connected. Charlie really loved Algernon and Algernon sort of understood that, him and Charlie were connected mentally and physically, with our the operation this bond would no have been possible so this whole operation helped Charlie receive a good friend not a regular companion. The final example Keyes provides is Charlie Gordon s progress reports, at first, Charlie wrote incorrectly and with no emotion, bland, but after the operation, he wrote correctly and with feelings because he was experiencing life he felt sadness, a bit of happiness and love something he could not have felt without the surgery, people may argue that he ... • 38. Advancements Of The Early Modern Period Medicine It is difficult to decide whether the developments, inventions and discoveries of the Early Modern Period contributed to European power or whether it contributed to European progress. The reason this is, is because in the case of Europe, especially in this time period, power and progress seemed to go hand in hand. In the case of discovery the countries that had the most power led the way in discovering new land, it was this curiosity in expanding power that led to the progress of new worlds and opportunities. The invention of the printing presscontributed to providing knowledge and therefore an aspect of power to people who did not have it beforehand and it was the progress of medicines and sciences that ensured not only the power and superiority of European knowledge but also the ability to progress to the next level of knowledge. From the beginnings of the Early Modern Period medicine was essentially summed up in high mortality rates and the notion that men and women were two completely different people anatomically, treatments were largely herbal and the type of doctor you went to see depended on what was wrong with you and if you could afford them . Attaining and preserving a state of health, therefore, required balance, and that equilibrium was inherently elusive and easily forfeited . During the evolution it used to be an eye for an eye, if you killed me, I went after your family as revenge. The days have changed, where now they have introduced the Canadian Bill of laws, to help with the punishment of offenders. Now capital punishment is punishments that result in death penalties for people who have committed capital crimes, and offences. It is viewed around the world as something different. For example, in certain parts of the world people do not believe in punishment, whereby in some parts they do believe and take very extreme measures. In parts of the world such as India, ... • 55. Neil Postman s An Internet Age Response Thirty years ago, Neil Postman argued that with TV, we are amusing ourselves to death. More recently, in an Internet age response to Postman, opposing author Steven Johnson argues that everything bad is good for you, including video games, television, Internet, and film. Neil Postman builds his argument by breaking down television into its component parts: photographs and the telegraph. He argues that both of these media inherently decontextualize their content. Photographs are inherently out of context. They can be nothing else. The content is photographed so that it can be viewed in a different context at a later time. Far from picturing a figure and its background, the photo combines both into one object. The context becomes content. Instead, words provide meaningful context to explain the pictures. This is why newspaper photographs have captions. The telegraph, TV s other component, dislocates events from geography. It takes information from a context where it is pertinent, meaningful, and relevant and removes it to a location where it has little or no import. Only rarely will this information affect the daily life of the far off reader. Thus, primarily it is simply interesting, but it is not relevant. It s entertainment with an alias: News. By combining these irrelevant events with those context less images, the television is inherently a decontextualizing agent itself. Try watching the television news without sound and imagine watching it without captions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Communication To ensure its continued growth and success JP Morgan Chase uses a variety of mechanisms to engage and connect with its diverse constituents. In 2014 it invested nearly 9% of its annual revenue to fund its global technologies, one of the largest investment ever made by them (JP Morgan Chase Co., 2014). It have even hosted a coding competition for college students at its Manhattan headquarters. The purpose of the competition, which included JP Morgan Chase technology executives as judges, was for participants to create technological tools designed for nonprofits to improve its operations. However, this contest was not only to benefit nonprofits, but it was used as a means to expose aspiring technologists to JP Morgan Chase, who would then award internship offers to the most promising students (Wisniewski, 2013). • 57. The Traditional Family In The 1950 s Family is defined in many ways in this chapter, Dalton stated there are different forms as families. Such as Nuclear family which is familial form consisting of a father, a mother and their children. He also describes an extended family, a kin network that extend outside or beyond the nuclear family. (Dalton 453, 455) the traditional familyin the 1950s was a male known as the breadwinner, a female housewife and their children (Dalton 455) unfortunately that is not the case today. It is sad to say that the divorces have risen steeply since the 1950s, therefore breaking the families in half. Most marriages end up in divorces now days, studies have shown that men are most likely to marry again, sadly second marriages are most likely to fail as well (Coonts, 2010). Some families did not have children they were known as empty nesters. As Dalton indicates that it was not uncommon or a married couple to have a family with no children. It was not known as a traditional family but then again it was existing. Back in the 1950s the traditional American family was the dominant model. Today that is not the case about 61% of households have one or two people living in them (U.S. Census Bureau, 2013c).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 58. An Athlete s Salary As a sports fan I have always looked at athletes as well paid entertainers. These individuals are lucky enough to make millions playing a game that they would probably play for free. With the acquired wealth and visibility these professional athletes have it all. It has been suggested by many that these athletes should serve as role models. Charles Barkleyformer Nation Basketball Association all star player disagreed vehemently with that sentiment. Mr. Barkley believed that athlete should not be role models for the sport that they play but should be role models as goodwill ambassadors in aiding the less fortunate. Adrian Peterson (All Day) is one of my favorite athletes. He is currently a running back with the Minnesota Vikingsof the National Football League. Mr. Peterson setup a foundation in 2008 (the All Day Foundation) to raise awareness and funds for projects that will help build a more prosperous future for at risk children. Adrian Peterson established the All Day Foundation to raise awareness and funds for programs that inspire hope and build a better future for at risk children (All day foundation, 2011). What caught my eye about his foundation is that one of his corner stones of the foundation is girls empowerment. The foundation has a goal of empowering young children with the skillsets and values that will enable them to have the opportunity to become leaders. Adrian Peterson professes to be a Christian and has dedicated his life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
