Why Are Personal Responsibilities More Important Than...
Why are personal responsibilities more important than social responsibilities?
People have a lot of ups and downs in their life. Sometimes they are happy while they are doing what
they like, or they are stressed of circumstances that arise in their life. They are always looking for
ways to find the balance around them. As a result, they plan different strategies to help improve the
quality of life, so they start working on themselves by being more responsible for their actions and
helping others in different ways for a better society. Some authors debate several circumstances to
encourage people to participate in each other s life for the good of everyone in their community.

Furthermore, they can be also responsible for the choices that they are making in life because they
may affect their body and create a door for a physical problem. Furthermore, people need to be
responsible for their intellectual growth as well. In order to be self sufficient, individuals need to be
prepared for life challenges. They can start by going to college to become well educated, and receive a
degree, find a job, and be able to take care of themselves without expecting assistance from
government, parents, or others. When people are able to keep the balance, they will not be a charge or
a problem to the public. Ericsson argues in her classification and division essay We all put up facades
to one degree or another (473). The author debates that people can have different faces in life that may
qualify them at an extent. The way they dress, behave socially and personally. Therefore, if individuals
are well maintained physically and intellectually that will impact their life one way or another. By
taking care of themselves, they make decisions in life that will be greatly beneficial to them. Besides
physical and intellectual appearances, they need to be careful to avoid situations that may endanger
their safety. They need to make good choices of people and company that they keep places that they
are visiting, and recognize the choices that will benefit them in life.

The Rise And Fall Of The Oslo Accords Essay
Article Review: The Rise and Fall of the Oslo Accords
According to an apocryphal story, Pope John Paul once said that he believes there are two possible
solutions to the Arab Israeli conflict, the realistic and the miraculous. The realistic being divine
intervention, and the miraculous being a voluntary agreement by both parties. On September 13th,
1993, it looked like the miraculous had happened when the Oslo Accords were signed by Prime
Minister Rabin and PLO Chairman Arafat on the White House South Lawn. However, the objectives
of the accords were never fully implemented and the Palestinians remain stateless. Further steps
toward peace, including Oslo II and Camp David, have fallen short of the goals of both sides. In the
book International Relations of the Middle East the chapter titled The Rise and Fall of the Oslo Peace
Process details the slow process of the formation of the Oslo accords, as well as attempts at
implementation and the fall of the Declaration of Principles. The author outlines the events between
1990 and 2001 and makes the argument that Oslo failed because: (1) it had a bad foundation, (2) the
accords did not account for the core issues of the conflict, (3) Israel did not complete of their side of
the agreement, (4) Palestinian violence, (5) Israeli West Bank settlements, and (6) the failure to create
a Palestinian state. According to the chapter, getting to the White House lawn that day in 1993 was an
arduous process that took many twist

Mark Twain And Saul Bellow
Humor in the works of Mark Twain and Saul Bellow
The inclusion of humor in writings is one of the essential factors that every author should incorporate
for the success of their works. The writings or rather novels with flashes of humor tend to do well in
the market for the readers as compared to other writings which are purely comic fictions or without
incorporation of humors. Humor facilitate in reader identification, assign positive traits to characters,
convey character relationships, delight readers and get them to read the material closely (Column Us,
2017). Mark Twain and Bellow are some of the renowned American authors that have incorporated the
use of senses of humor in their writings and this has made their literature works successful for a long
period of time. The paper discusses how the two authors have used humor in their works. The
American Author, Mark Twain, utilizes humor in his works through several ways. Twain as an author
forms unforgettable and hilarious characters in his works. He uses Tom Sawyer who is especially
prominent as a funny and clever creation in the passages. His train of crazy ideas, thought, childish
logic, acting ability, cruel pranks, wit, and imagination cause a laughter to readers which make them
read the passages several times. The composition of funny characters which are intelligence in the way
of presenting the ideas, enhance in creation of humors in the Twain s novels. This makes readers to

In his early career, he met many famous authors that were friends with Flaubert and they helped him

that read his works usually viewed him as French writer Guy de Maupassant is famous for his short
stories, which paint a fascinating picture of French life in the 19th century (Biography.com, Guy de
Maupassant) He became famous immediately but, it is debated whether his success was just based on
his connections or because of his actual talent and special writing quirks that made him stand out as a
writer. His work proved to be very popular due to his unique take on life and his whiplash endings that
left the readers asking why(Encyclopedia of World Biography, Guy de Maupassant). The majority of
his stories were categorized into sections, the Franco Prussian War, the Norman peasantry, the
bureaucracy, life on the banks of the Seine, the emotional problems of the different classes. All of his
stories were based on what he had experienced, and these things had happened to him in one way or

Figure 2 is the general feedforward ANC block diagram with Least Mean Square (LMS) adaptive

However, standard LMS algorithm tends to cause instability issue [13], since the error signal is not
properly aligned in time in time with the reference signal due to the presence of the secondary path
transfer function S(z). To solve the problem, it is necessary to find a different LMS filter or a different
ANC system. There are several ANC filter algorithms and systems can be chosen as the solution.
1.recursive filtered least mean square (FxRLS); 2. fast transversal filter (FxFTF); 3. Lattice ANC

Iwo Jima Victory was never in doubt. Its cost was. What was in doubt was whether there would be any
of us left to dedicate our cemetery at the end, or whether the last Marine would die knocking out the
last Japanese gunner, Major General Graves Erskine, dedicating his 3rd Marine Division cemetery at
Iwo Jima just after the battle.(Alexander 207) The sea invasion of Iwo Jima was and still is the largest
of any in all the years of the United States Marine Corps history. This invasion was also the most
devastating. More than 26,000 Marines lost their lives while when trying to take over this small

The Japanese had it made. They had all they needed in their caves. You would of thought that the
Japanese would have paid a bunch of money to fortify the island but they really did not. The had many
of the Empire s most gifted mining engineers to dig tunnels throughout the volcanic mountains. It took
them no time to have miles of tunnels running through the mountains. These tunnels made it easy for
the Japanese to move from one position to the other. But life was not to great in the caves because the
United States Seventh Air Force bombers dropped bombs on them daily in hope to soften them up
before the massive invasion. Another helpful aspect to the Japanese was the sand on the beaches. The
sand wasn t like in paradise. It was black and loose making running across the beachhead very
difficult. The only flaw to the island that did not help the Japanese was the surf. The surf was too
rough to plant anti boat mines. The entire island is flat except for the promontory of Mount Suribachi,
and extinct volcano, which is 556 feet high in the southern portion of the island. (Siefring 117) The
invasion with this type of landscape was not as easy as one would think. One Naval officer suggested
that the invasion of this island would cost only fifteen thousand Marine casualties. His Navy
companions thought that he would be way off. Which he was by about

Chronic Illness
Significant yet not widely talked about, one of the greatest issues and stressors many families have to
cope with is that of chronic illness. While the family that has to cope with a loved one s battle with
cancer or a traumatic car accident is at the forefront of the minds of all those close to them, coming up
in conversation and the target of prayers and well wishes, families coping with chronic illness often
fade into the background. Perhaps the reason individuals do not often hear of or think of those that are
chronically ill or disabled is because after the shock of an initial diagnosis, the reality of chronic
illness fades from people s thoughts because it becomes a part of ordinary, everyday life. For the many

Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could see
this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a poem
about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to symbolize
an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title may give the
impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but some words and
phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind.
The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath (Roethke, 1)
already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to remember this experience
with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may have been a drunk. He remembers
his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major role in the entire experience itself. The
speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol
on his breath was so strong it made him feel lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been
drinking heavily and the fact that it made him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out
for an occasional drink. However, even though the boy felt sick he still held on to his father closely,
But I hung on like death (3) implying he was so scared all he could do was hang on to his father. His

immemorial. The present study was carried out to evaluate the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities
of leaves from Elephantopus scaber by using different solvents (ethyl alcohol, acetone and aqueous).
The ethyl alcohol, acetone and aqueous extracts of leaves were subjected to phytochemical analyses,
which revealed the presence of alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, tannins, coumarins,
quinones and glycosides in most of the selected of leaves useing different solvents. Ethyl alcohol

Saturn Research Paper
Saturn has fascinated society for hundreds of years being the only planet whose rings are visible from
Earth. Because of its distance from the Earth, exploration was not possible until the age of robotic
spacecraft. Previous studies of Saturn and its surroundings were limited to data from flybys (Lebreton
Matson 2002). The Cassini Huygens mission consisted of a combination of an orbiter and a probe to
fully explore the Saturnian system.
The mission was named in honor of two astronomers who made profound discoveries about Saturn.
Christian Huygens was a Dutch astronomer who invented a better lens to enhance his telescope s
abilities. He is credited with discovering Titan in 1655 and being able to correctly identify the rings of
Saturn in 1656. Jean Dominique Cassini surveyed four of Saturn s moons and discovered the gap in its
ring system later named the Cassini division in 1675. He also hypothesized that the rings consisted of
large sums of small satellites all orbiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

readings to prove that Titan is too cold to support life. The second mission, Voyager 1, was launched
September 5, 1977 and arrived November 13, 1980. Voyager 1 gathered 900 images of Saturn s
moons, revealed that Titan s composition resembles that of Earth s ancient environment, and disclosed
that Saturn s rings formed from broken off particles of nearby comets, meteors, and its moons. Lastly,
Voyager II launched August 20, 1977 and arrived August 26, 1981. Voyager II continued with the
same objectives as Voyager I and was able to take an additional 1,150 images of Saturn s moons.

Judaism And Gender
Gender and Judaism
Judaism is a very complex, deep and meaningful religion. It includes many commandments and laws.
Women and men have specific instructions and rituals that each one has to fulfill according to their
gender. Judaism expects a specific behavior from men and another one completely different from
women. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explain the different roles of men and women and
the more important commandments they have to accomplish based on their gender.
The Bible of the Jews is called The Torah and it states that The Lord God formed man out of the dust

As an effective leader one has to be especially close to their subordinates in order to provide them
with the necessary purpose, direction and motivation to complete their assigned task. The tactical level
is usually found at the company or platoon level, this leader is always looking to accomplish the short
term goals in support of the long term mission. Tactical leaders must know how to solve problems
quickly and without hesitation, they have more direct influence over soldiers because they are in the
trenches with them. At this stage the leader has to council, correct and led their soldiers through the
direct approach of leadership.
Organization leadership This leadership style is where the leader actually has to plan and synchronize
training in order that the small units are able to produce the tactical into the operational action. At the
organization level a leader is not in a traditional leadership position when they are directly in charge of
soldiers. Leaders in this style are the one whom establish section that develop plans and create orders.
When a result is achieved at this level the entire team is responsibility for the outcome. Organizational
leaders make decision that affect the long term goal and helps plan the short term mission for their

Essay on John D. Rockefeller

American History

Due: Thursday, March 15, 2001 The Rockefellers feared the temptations of wealth, yet a visitor once
described their estate as the kind of place God would have built if only he d had the money. They
amassed a fortune that outraged a Democratic nation, then gave it all away reshaping America. They
were the closest thing the country had to a royal family, but the Rockefellers shunned the public eye.
For decades, the Rockefeller name was despised in America, associated with John D. Rockefeller Sr. s

Oil was being used to grease the wheels of America s infant industries, to fuel the expansion of
growth. Rockefeller lamented that so many wells were flowing that the price of oil kept falling yet
everyone went right on drilling. He saw an industry plagued from overproduction and his own success
was being threatened by ruinness cut throat competition. John D. was shrewd enough and he was
analytical enough that he realized that in order to figure out a way to save his own firm and his own
newly won fortune, that he had to figure out a solution for the entire industry. It was at that point that
John D. began to conceive of the oil industry as one big interrelated mechanism. And you couldn t just
change one component, you had to control the entire machine.
In a move that would transform the American economy, Rockefeller set out to replace a world of
independent oilmen with a giant company controlled by him. In l870, begging bankers for more loans,
he formed Standard Oil of Ohio. The next year, he quietly put what he called our plan his campaign to
dominate the volatile oil industry into devastating effect. Rockefeller knew that the refiner with the
lowest transportation cost could bring rivals to their knees. He entered into a secret alliance with the
railroads called the South Improvement Company. In exchange for large, regular shipments,

Phoenix Community Development
Urban areas are usually grown upwards, but things did not seem to go that way for the city of Phoenix.
Phoenix has done nothing but expand thanks to the much endless desert space they are surrounded by.
Many suburban areas where created around Phoenix due to large amount of family homes built. Along
with all of the development and amount of time, Phoenix is actually now surrounded by 24 smaller
cities. A large amount of ecosystems where destroyed in order to build a lot of single family homes
and a lot of streets. A big reason for the Phoenix region growing outwards rather than upwards is
mostly due to land being priced very cheap and allowing larger margins of profits because homes are
not build until they have all been completely purchased by the customers. A great example of how the
city of Phoenix is expanding right now is the community named Anthem. It is a community in which
people don t really ever need to go out of their community because it has everything in it. In such
community there is nothing but single family homes with many wide streets. It is sort of a resort style
living, for it has many things in the community such as a golf course, many pools and parks, and many

resources which then means they need to be delivered miles to Phoenix. Another main concern that

Mass Extinction Of Dinosaurs
The mass extinction of the Dinosaurs has been a subject of interest and dispute for many scientists
over the years. There are many different theories on what happened to them: did some planetary
destruction happen, did they die out, were they wiped out, or was it the cause of something not of this
planet. This question and this need to solve the mysteries of the world has continued to draw scientists
in for the never ending search for the answer. Scientists have worked tirelessly in an attempt to
discover the truth, and their hard work has warranted some results. In Mexico in the Turquoise waters,
scientists have discovered a crater where they believe an asteroid or comet struck earth which helped
cause one of the largest mass extinctions in the history of our planet. They call it, Chicxulub, and they
know of it as the killer of dinosaurs. They found evidence of this event first in the layers of rock in the
earth. Scientists discovered that when you look at the different layers of rock that depict the history of
our planet certain fossils just stopped showing up. The discovery was that at some point certain living
creatures on this planet simply no longer lived to create fossils. A discovery made by scientists in the
1980s showed there were large deposits of Iridium in the earth during the time all these creatures
suddenly disappeared. Iridium is not that common on this earth, but it is common on asteroids; thus
the belief of the steroid hitting earth. Scientists believe

Public Sector in India
Overview of Central Public Sector Enterprises
The government owned corporations play a pivotal role in the economic development of emerging
economies because their participation is higher in the industrial and commercial activities of these
economies. Resource constraints and limited scope of the private sector in the early stages of
development and planning have set the stage for predominance of the public enterprises in these
economies. Thus, public sectors in the leading developing countries of the world (including the
countries in the BRIC region) play a very important role.

of disciplines. Here is some hard truth about the Jews and Catholics.

The American Political System Essay
The American Political System The American political system is a federal system, which consists of
division of a national government and state governments. However, it was not always a federal
system, it was not based on the Constitution, but on the Articles of Confederation. This system divides
authority between sovereign national and state government. Under the Articles of the Confederation,
each state retained its ultimate governing authority. .[1] The power of government must be equal to its
responsibilities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The state government was protected under the Articles of Confederation and had the ultimate
governing authority. 2 The government of the Articles was a union of states rather than also of people.
The result was a weak national government, since its strength depended entirely of the states
willingness to cooperate (p 61). If the states refused to pay the national government could not do
anything to get the money. The final result of non payment from the states was a weaker national
defense. The states wanted to retain their sovereignty and argued that the national government would
not be able serve the people as well as the union of states. Under the new governing system known as
federalism the state government would have the responsibilities of the chartering of local
governments, education, public safety, registration and voting, intrastate commerce.
In 1787 a new form of government was introduced at the Philadelphia convention, which changed the
power between national and state governments. 3 The Philadelphia convention thereby devised a
governing system that came to be known as federalism. Federalism is the division of sovereignty, or
ultimate governing authority between a national government and regional (that is, state) governments.
Each directly governs the people and derives it powers

It may be because of complex, ineffective flow in communication as a result of un integrated
information system in JAS. : Low performance in liquidity may be resulted from poor inventory
management and ineffective costs control. Firstly, JAS is facing the cash flow problem because of
having too many stocks in warehouse. Secondly, un integrated information system brings some
difficulties in costs control. In timely and inaccurate customers financial data makes JAS difficult to
retrieve debtors effectively. 2.2.2 Market The UK Government policies encourage citizens to use more
bicycles instead of other transportations as possible as they can because of the congestion and air
pollution. In addition, increasingly number of people has treated cycling as an exercise, trip and
healthy lifestyle, which promotes the consumption of bicycle. These contribute to the boost of bicycle
industry. However, JAS has gained relatively lower market share over the last few years. The level of
competitive intensity has a significant impact on JAS s sales and profit. Firstly, as a medium sized
company providing high quality bicycles, JAS has been receiving increasing competition from its
existing rivals who offer similar products but relatively lower price because of their economies of
scale. Some rivals benefit from their high production or lower cost of material and labour, leading to
competitive advantage in the marketplace, such as high quality with the relatively lower

Femmer s Murder Is Wrong
The Natural Law Theory suggested that Elmer s murder is wrong because it violates moral principles.
While I do agree with this, Gray makes a strong argument in the sense that the court is expected to
follow the law created by the people in authority. Before Francis s death, there was no mistakes in the
will and the language of the statute governing wills was clearly written, making it a valid one. In other
words, the court is required to uphold the validity of the will. In placing morality above the demands
of the law, the majority judges meets the burden of overruling the written law. Therefore, positivists
would agree that the rules governing wills must be applied as written and that a benefactor must
inherit. It is true that the law can

Political Communication
Politics and the media have long been intimately involved with each other, with media strongly setting
an agenda in which politics is very important. (Harris 1999,p.167) Our perceived reality of the real
world is largely a product of the media. (Harris 1999,p.186) It is not known which influences more but
there are definitely two sides to the story. Many studies have been done to decide but each comes out
with different answers. Many say that the media has more of an impact on politics than does politics
on the media. The two have always been natural adversaries. Skewering each other in print and in
conversation, but generally enjoying each other s company. (Forum)

There is still argument for both sides but leaning more towards the media. Presidential elections,
campaigns, and policies have always been important in the media and to the public. The media creates
a political world that is the basis of the public s knowledge and the later behavior, such as voting for
the president or any public official. The themes and issues that are repeated in the media become
important to viewers. Those that are highlighted become especially influential when it comes to
choosing a candidate. The media affects evaluations of presidents. Presidential approval is strongly
influenced by how the media portrays the candidate to the public. For example, during the Gulf War,
George Bush received bad publicity based on his performance with the war even though his prior
economic performance was exceptional. (Edwards 1999, p329) The values in which people used to
evaluate him on were influenced by what the media had to say. Particular televised political
advertising, televised candidate events. And news articles also affect the preferences and opinions of
the voters. For example, Bob Dole in the 1996 election. His age arose early from the media. During
the primary election, over 800 news stories dealt with Dole s

The Rise And Fall Of The Democratic Republic Of Madagascar

British and French during the 1800 s and 1900 s until becoming independent in 1960. The Kingdom of
Madagascar was ruled as constitutional democracy following their independence until 2009 when
their president Marc Ravalomanana was forced to resign. The resignation of the kingdoms president
was a result of pressure from the military and started the downfall of economic stability for the
country. The Portuguese first came to the island of Madagascar in the 1500 s and later became a
French colony in 1869. The island did not gain independence until 1960 and the same president ruled
until 1972. The country was renamed the Democratic Republic of Madagascar

Lab: 5
Experiment:13
Pre Lab The purpose of this experiment is to observe an equilibrium reaction counteracting changes to
it s system all in accordance to Le Chatelier s principle. An equilibrium reaction can be pushed toward
products or reactant based on changes in temperature or concentration. The reversibility of reaction
will also be looked at.
Pre Lab questions
1. The concentrations of products and concentrations of reactants remain constant but both reactions
are still going on, just at the same rate.
2. Le Chatelier s principle when an equilibrium has been established in a system and is altered, the
systems will counteract the change.

If the equilibrium lies to the right, the solution is basic and will be yellow. The first solution turns pink
because the HCl is a strong acid and methyl orange is pink in acidic solutions. The equilibriums shift
to the left side showing an increase in the amount of acid in the solution that is why the color changes
to pink. The concentration of the solution then turns yellow because NaOH is a base and turns yellow
in a basic solution. The equilibrium is shifted to the right when the NaOH is added.

Phenolphthalein is a weak acid and does not fully dissociate ergo it creates an equilibrium. When the
HCl is added, the equilibrium is to the left, The concentration of the anions is too low for the pink
color to be observed. However, the NaOH is a strong base and makes the solution s equilibrium shift
to the right. The concentration of the anion becomes sufficient for the pink color to be observed. 4.
Both test tubes appear red with the acetic acid with the methyl orange. This indicates that the
equilibrium lies toward the acid. CH3COOH(aq) (( H+(aq) + CH3COO (aq) Red yellow 5. Both test
tubes changed from orange to yellow. This shift indicates 6. NaCH3COOH(aq) ( Na+(aq) + CH3COO

Dbq Antifederalist
After America won their freedom from Great Britain there was much to celebrate, but first, they had to
come up with a new government. Because of their recent war against a monarchy, no one thought that
giving the government too much power would be a good idea. Therefore the newly founded America
created a government that mostly gave complete freedom to the people. As a result of this, the
government was in over its head with problems. For example; a large amount of debt and the gou t
couldn t raise the money they need to pay back their debts because they weren t allowed to tax the
people. In other words, because of how weak the new gou t was the state was falling into the dark
depths of chaos. In light of this, many people didn t seem to care ... Show more content on

To start with, Antifederalist questioned why they needed a whole new kind of gou t that hadn t been
used before when they already had a gou t that proven effective, for them, in the past. Adding on,
many of the Antifederalist feared that the new constitution would lead the country back to a monarch
or monarch like gou t. And so, many of the Antifederalists feared that people of influence and wealth
would worm their way into the government and control the country from positions of power. As a
result, Antifederalist feared a government with power much more than the chaos caused by a weak
government. Regarding this, many Antifederalists shared a mutual concern when it came to the
prospect of a complicated federal gou t controlling a country as large as the United States, many of
them assuming it would be near impossible. Furthermore, Antifederalist also argued that the new gou t
would give the president to much power, and feared that the population wouldn t be given the ideal
representation. To further elaborate, having the proper representation for the population was essential
for the Antifederalist because it would help ensure that the gou t couldn t impose taxes and other
things on the population without consulting them first. As Patrick Henry once warned, be extremely
cautious, watchful, jealous of your liberty; for instead of securing your rights, you may lose them
forever (Appleby 209). Henry is expressing the dangers that might follow the new gou t. In Particular,
he was elaborating that instead of keeping their freedom and gaining order, like the federalists have
promised, he feared that their freedom would be at risk instead. On the subject of gou t, the
Antifederalists stood together for their common goal of ensuring freedom, but they stood in different
places when it came to a gou t. Such as, in many cases Antifederalists were willing to ratify the new
constitution if they added

parcel s weight, delivery address, and whether it is fragile or requires specific positioning to avoid

Heatwaves: The weather conditions on Black Saturday were some of the worst weather conditions
ever recorded. In the weeks preceding the bushfires, there had been a series of exceptional heatwaves
in south eastern Australia and particularly Victoria. The heatwave that accompanied the bushfires on
the day broke records. Much of Victoria, including Melbourne and 20 other centres registered
unprecedented maximum temperatures. Melbourne reached 46.4° Celsius, the highest in 154 years of

Essay On The Picture Of Dorian Gray
London is a commonly utilized backdrop for novels, plays and films. The monuments make for
stunning backgrounds in modern cinematography while the history and character of the city add
meaning and symbolism to a number of works and the works, in turn, contribute to the reputation of
London. In Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dorian is a beautiful young man with an
increasingly corrupted soul as he is seduced by the city. The story of his decay takes place in two
famous parts of London the West End, known for its wealth and opulence and the East End, better
known for its poverty and opium. The two sides of the city mirror the two sides of Dorian himself, his
split personality giving the two sides of London their reputations. When the story begins, Dorian is
depicted as a gentleman, innocent and philanthropic, living in the West End. He is striking and

This stays true to the stereotype of wickedness and savagery in the East End. But the death of Basil
Howard occurs in the West End. Dorian kills his old friend in his home, a hint that the East End has
not only corrupted Dorian, but now led to bloodshed in the previously pure West End. The glamour
has been poisoned by the vileness and the loveliness of London destroyed by indecent acts, as Dorian
s portrait has been altered with each sin. The stereotype already established of the West End as pristine
and perfect is ruined in this scene. The drugs, violence, and overall wickedness had previously been
contained but spilling over into the West End, London as a whole appears wicked and immoral. The
West End had been the place where Dorian was introduced to the temptations that would lead him to
ruin but the West End is not where the action took place. The East End, like Dorian s portrait, bears
the weight of reality while the West End is more like Dorian, perfectly clean on the

  • 4. The Rise And Fall Of The Oslo Accords Essay Article Review: The Rise and Fall of the Oslo Accords According to an apocryphal story, Pope John Paul once said that he believes there are two possible solutions to the Arab Israeli conflict, the realistic and the miraculous. The realistic being divine intervention, and the miraculous being a voluntary agreement by both parties. On September 13th, 1993, it looked like the miraculous had happened when the Oslo Accords were signed by Prime Minister Rabin and PLO Chairman Arafat on the White House South Lawn. However, the objectives of the accords were never fully implemented and the Palestinians remain stateless. Further steps toward peace, including Oslo II and Camp David, have fallen short of the goals of both sides. In the book International Relations of the Middle East the chapter titled The Rise and Fall of the Oslo Peace Process details the slow process of the formation of the Oslo accords, as well as attempts at implementation and the fall of the Declaration of Principles. The author outlines the events between 1990 and 2001 and makes the argument that Oslo failed because: (1) it had a bad foundation, (2) the accords did not account for the core issues of the conflict, (3) Israel did not complete of their side of the agreement, (4) Palestinian violence, (5) Israeli West Bank settlements, and (6) the failure to create a Palestinian state. According to the chapter, getting to the White House lawn that day in 1993 was an arduous process that took many twist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What was in doubt was whether there would be any of us left to dedicate our cemetery at the end, or whether the last Marine would die knocking out the last Japanese gunner, Major General Graves Erskine, dedicating his 3rd Marine Division cemetery at Iwo Jima just after the battle.(Alexander 207) The sea invasion of Iwo Jima was and still is the largest of any in all the years of the United States Marine Corps history. They had all they needed in their caves. You would of thought that the Japanese would have paid a bunch of money to fortify the island but they really did not. The had many of the Empire s most gifted mining engineers to dig tunnels throughout the volcanic mountains. It took them no time to have miles of tunnels running through the mountains. These tunnels made it easy for the Japanese to move from one position to the other. But life was not to great in the caves because the United States Seventh Air Force bombers dropped bombs on them daily in hope to soften them up before the massive invasion. Another helpful aspect to the Japanese was the sand on the beaches. The sand wasn t like in paradise. It was black and loose making running across the beachhead very difficult. The only flaw to the island that did not help the Japanese was the surf. The surf was too rough to plant anti boat mines. The entire island is flat except for the promontory of Mount Suribachi, and extinct volcano, which is 556 feet high in the southern portion of the island. While the family that has to cope with a loved one s battle with cancer or a traumatic car accident is at the forefront of the minds of all those close to them, coming up in conversation and the target of prayers and well wishes, families coping with chronic illness often fade into the background. Perhaps the reason individuals do not often hear of or think of those that are chronically ill or disabled is because after the shock of an initial diagnosis, the reality of chronic illness fades from people s thoughts because it becomes a part of ordinary, everyday life. I felt the full effect of my mother s illness on my future plans after my grandmother s death my senior year of high school. With the responsibility for my mother s well being now solely my responsibility, it no longer seemed possible to go away for school, and after transferring to Dallas Baptist University, I am still only thirty five minutes away from my mother s home. I find it difficult to plan for the future and live in the present, as encouraged in Living as a Family in the Midst of Chronic Illness , without also falling into fear of the future. I fear that in the future I will be called to a job in another city or state away from my mother, or that her health will deteriorate enough that she requires full time care. Knowing that my mother does have a shortened life expectancy, I feel a greater sense of guilt when I have not called or visited in awhile than the average college student. • 10. Analysis Of The Poem My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke is an intriguing poem because of its ambiguity. One could see this as a poem about a child having a playful dance with his dad before bedtime but I see it as a poem about a child being abused by his father because he is an alcoholic. A dance is supposed to symbolize an expression of joyful spirituality and love especially the waltz. Specifically, the title may give the impression that this dance between father and son is a smooth romantic dance but some words and phrases bring an entirely difference image to the mind. The first stanza sets the tone for the seriousness of the poem. The whiskey on your breath (Roethke, 1) already sets the tone for the rest of the poem. The boy who has grown up to remember this experience with his father is putting emphasis on the fact that his father may have been a drunk. He remembers his dad s breath smelling like alcohol and this plays a major role in the entire experience itself. The speaker then goes on to say, Could make a small boy dizzy (2) which tells me that the smell of alcohol on his breath was so strong it made him feel lightheaded and woozy. The father must have been drinking heavily and the fact that it made him sick tells the reader that he may not have just gone out for an occasional drink. However, even though the boy felt sick he still held on to his father closely, But I hung on like death (3) implying he was so scared all he could do was hang on to his father. His father s ... • 12. Saturn Research Paper Saturn has fascinated society for hundreds of years being the only planet whose rings are visible from Earth. Because of its distance from the Earth, exploration was not possible until the age of robotic spacecraft. Previous studies of Saturn and its surroundings were limited to data from flybys (Lebreton Matson 2002). The Cassini Huygens mission consisted of a combination of an orbiter and a probe to fully explore the Saturnian system. The mission was named in honor of two astronomers who made profound discoveries about Saturn. Christian Huygens was a Dutch astronomer who invented a better lens to enhance his telescope s abilities. He is credited with discovering Titan in 1655 and being able to correctly identify the rings of Saturn in 1656. Jean Dominique Cassini surveyed four of Saturn s moons and discovered the gap in its ring system later named the Cassini division in 1675. He also hypothesized that the rings consisted of large sums of small satellites all orbiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first mission, Pioneer 11, launched on April 6, 1973 and arrived September 1, 1979. The second mission, Voyager 1, was launched September 5, 1977 and arrived November 13, 1980. They amassed a fortune that outraged a Democratic nation, then gave it all away reshaping America. John D. was shrewd enough and he was analytical enough that he realized that in order to figure out a way to save his own firm and his own newly won fortune, that he had to figure out a solution for the entire industry. It was at that point that John D. began to conceive of the oil industry as one big interrelated mechanism. And you couldn t just change one component, you had to control the entire machine. In a move that would transform the American economy, Rockefeller set out to replace a world of independent oilmen with a giant company controlled by him. Phoenix has done nothing but expand thanks to the much endless desert space they are surrounded by. Many suburban areas where created around Phoenix due to large amount of family homes built. Along with all of the development and amount of time, Phoenix is actually now surrounded by 24 smaller cities. A large amount of ecosystems where destroyed in order to build a lot of single family homes and a lot of streets. There are many different theories on what happened to them: did some planetary destruction happen, did they die out, were they wiped out, or was it the cause of something not of this planet. This question and this need to solve the mysteries of the world has continued to draw scientists in for the never ending search for the answer. Scientists have worked tirelessly in an attempt to discover the truth, and their hard work has warranted some results. In Mexico in the Turquoise waters, scientists have discovered a crater where they believe an asteroid or comet struck earth which helped cause one of the largest mass extinctions in the history of our planet. They call it, Chicxulub, and they know of it as the killer of dinosaurs. They found evidence of this event first in the layers of rock in the earth. Scientists discovered that when you look at the different layers of rock that depict the history of our planet certain fossils just stopped showing up. The discovery was that at some point certain living creatures on this planet simply no longer lived to create fossils. If the states refused to pay the national government could not do anything to get the money. The final result of non payment from the states was a weaker national defense. The states wanted to retain their sovereignty and argued that the national government would not be able serve the people as well as the union of states.
