Consumerism In Brave New World Essay
Consumerism is one of the main themes in the book Brave New World, but it is also becoming
big in modern society. In Brave New World, consumerism is a main factor of the lifestyle. In our
society, consumerism is becoming a big factor of our lifestyle too. Brave New World depicts a
life where you are essentially made to earn money, then spend it to gain satisfaction. In modern
society, spending money on products and services is very relevant. Advertisements are constantly
everywhere persuading people to purchase something. Consumerism has essentially become a life
goal in our society today. In both of these societies, consumerism is depicted in very similar ways.
The book Brave New World and modern society both depict similarities related... Show more

While primarily done as a way to reduce worker turnover, Ford also recognized that by paying
his workers more, they would become greater consumers (Cloer, 2013). The assembly line
created a mass production of goods to be sold to earn a profit. Paying workers more money also
contributes to the workers buying more. The God of Brave New World is Ford for he invented
the assembly line, the ability to mass produce, and the vision that everyone could own a car
(Boyle, 2013). Henry Ford in Brave New World is seen as the god of this society. People worship
and praise him and this is due to his invention of the assembly line. Both the book and modern
life has this in common because Ford did contribute to consumerism in America by creating the
assembly line as well as paying workers more money so that they will spend more.
Advertisements also play a big role in both the World State and modern life. In the book,
Hypnopaedia serves as a form of advertisement that teaches people to want to buy more. In modern
society, advertisements are everywhere, from television commercials to radio, to newspapers, to
billboards. Both of these advertisements serve the purpose to make consumers want to spend

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Breast Cancer
INTRODUCTION
BREAST cancer is currently the most common cancer affecting women worldwide [1]. In
European women, it is the leading cause of cancer death, causing one in six of all deaths from
cancers [2].In the U.S., a woman has a 12.15% (about one in eight) risk of developing breast cancer
during her lifetime[3].
Mammography is one of the most reliable and effective methods for detecting breast cancer at it
early stages [4]. In developed countries, population based mammography screening programs have
been implemented [1]. Women are encouraged to participatein regular breast examinations through
mammography. In the U.S., annual mammographic screening is recommended for women at
normal risk, beginning at age 40 [5]. In the U.K., women aged between ... Show more content on

The State Of Lying By William Shakespeare
The state of lying is a convincing art that not many people can pull off effectively. There are
different factors that have to be taken into account in order to consider something as a good lie.
In a text, 3 factors that make up a convincing lie are the character and their traits, the situation
involved and how persuasive they are. Speech is a thing of beauty as it can be manipulated in
many ways to get people to believe you. A character s traits allow a person to observe their
behavior and how they are able to manipulate the language. Odysseus is able to use his cunning to
manipulate the language into his favor making the suitors believe that he is indeed a beggar. It s
his traits of being wise and cunning that allows the suitors to fall... Show more content on

The person s ability to sway the language in their way against their opponent allows them to
manipulate their minds. There are always liars throughout many texts but what separate them from
the exceptional liars are these factors. A character is often considered strong or weak based on the
language and behavior during the epic or story. That same language along with the person s traits,
can determine whether that character is a great liar or not. In the Odyssey, Odysseus goes to great
lengths to lie and deceive the suitors into thinking he s a beggar. During the fight against the
beggar Odysseus downplays the whole situation by stating Friends, how can an old man, worn
down with pain, stand to a young buck? Its just this belly of mine, this troublemaker, tempts to
take a licking. (Od.377.60 63). Odysseus lie sets up how shrewd he is, allowing the beggar king
to believe that he could take on Odysseus with ease. Odysseus uses his wisdom brilliantly by
trying to obtain some sympathy making him fight someone who is beyond younger then he is.
Odysseus knows his character and how wise he is which allows him to use that to his advantage.
He uses his physical appearance as a beggar to convince the suitors of how poor he was that he
needed to beg. Another character who uses their traits to their advantage is the daughter of Zeus,
Helen. Helen, who is the wife of King Menelaus, is the main point as to why the Trojan war even
begun. Her disappearance caused King Menelaus

9. POVERTY, EMPLOYMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT
Poverty
9.1 Poverty is a state where a person finds it unable to maintain a minimum socially accepted level
of standard of living. It is regarded as the root cause for low levels of health and educational
outcomes, poor access to clean water and sanitation, inadequate physical security, lack of voice, and
insufficient capacity and opportunity for mobility. Poverty alleviation remained the central to all the
state and central level policy making. The Five Year Plans in Indiahad their focus directly or
indirectly on reducing the poverty levels throughout. In India the Planning Commission has been

It’s Time to Put an End to Corporal Punishment in Schools...
It s Time to Put an End to Corporal Punishment in Schools
Seven countries Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Austria, Italy and Cyprus have laws making
it illegal for parents to use physical punishment on their children. Corporal punishment in schools
has been banned in all the countries in Europe, South and Central America, China and Japan. The
United States has outlawed corporal punishment from our prisons as cruel and inhumane treatment,
as well as wife beating, once thought to be the right of a husband. Why don t we afford the same
protection to our children?
Our culture sanctions the use of corporal or physical punishment as a way for parents to discipline
their children. Just a few weeks ago Marvin Munyon, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It doesn t teach them self control or ways to change their behavior other than not getting caught
misbehaving. One of the ways kids learn is by watching and mimicking the world around them,
especially their parents. They are quick to learn when words and actions don t coincide, for
example, when a parent spanks a child because the child hits someone else. Being a parent is not
an easy job and it takes time and patience to discipline children.
After a year of implementing a specific discipline for my daughter s temper tantrums, I witnessed
my daughter exercise self control at the age of three. Temper tantrums were her specialty. When
my daughter flew out of control I would put her in her room until she calmed down. Then she was
allowed to rejoin the family and finish the task she was asked to do, or apologize depending on the
circumstances. In this particular instance, when my daughter got angry she picked up her blanket
and stomped upstairs crying without me saying a word other than she couldn t play her musical
instruments in the same room while her sister was watching television. She stayed upstairs for
about ten minutes. After that, she came downstairs and proceeded to play quietly. I sat there in
utter amazement! She had disciplined herself.
To discipline a child we must first consider the problem and why the child is misbehaving. Are we
expecting too much from the child at their age?

Who Is A Father Figure In Death Of A Salesman
The importance of a strong father figure in a family can sometimes be overlooked. Kids, and
especially boys, idolize their father throughout their younger and even into their adult life.
Children take anything that their father says as truth and see what they do as the only way to live.
In Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller portrays how the absence of a father taking on the role of
raising his children can affect the children for the rest of their life.
Willy Loman, the father of Biff and Happy Lowman, is an example of the lasting effect you can
have on your children when avoiding the responsibility of raising them. Willy spends his life
pursuing the American Dream. He exhaust himself in trying to gain fame and fortune, putting off

Biff believes that he can make something of himself but his father s life forces Biff to only
recognize the failures in his own life. Biff adores Willy, prior to the Boston visit, and believes
everything Willy told him. Biff never questions Willy. He always goes along with Willy even if
he knew what Willy was doing was going against certain rules. In doing so Biff grows up
believing he too wasn t bound by any social rules or expectations. This leads to Biff becoming a
thief, even if it were stealing little things. Willy fails as a father by encouraging Biff s little thefts
rather than disciplining him. Biff is never able to keep a steady job and falls with his father into
the pit of failure.
Happy in this story is almost identical to Willy. Willy casts Happy into the same pursuit of
illusionary dreams and unrealistic expectations. Happy, like Willy, desires nothing more than
chasing after the American Dream. He is quite successful in his job but is never content. He is
driven by his sexuality and overweening pride. Happy goes throughout life wondering why
everything doesn t go his way. His father preached to him that if he were to follow lifes rules he
would be very successful. Happy is anything but happy. The fact that Willy named his sonHappy is

Brazil and United States Healthcare
A Comparative Analysis of Health Care Professionals in Brazil to Those in the United States
Abstract The topic of health care has become the most pressing and ongoing debates for not only
the United States but also many other nations around the world. Many countries have implemented
a universal health coverage for years with effective results. While the United States steps into a
immature national health care program, the government can observe Brazil s health care system to
learn valuable lessons. The type of health care system a country chooses has a major effect on the
country s health care professionals. While comparing the health care professionals of the United
States and Brazil, many similarities can be seen;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The common problem in Brazil for health care professionals seems to be a lack of distribution
of doctors into the more rural areas of the country. On average in Brazil, there are only 2 hospital
beds per 1,000 people. In the northern regions of Brazil, where more rural areas are found, the
amount of hospitals per resident is lower than the average. Much like in the United States, doctors
are very reluctant to the thought of beginning a practice in a small rural town. Reasons being that
small rural towns are usually less populated and on average bring in less household income. In
Brazil, the idea of practicing medicine in these depressed areas is even less glamorous because of
the government involvement in health care. In these areas, practices receive less attention
including lack of supplies and infrastructure. Physicians located within wealthier and more
populous areas have slightly better access to equipment and infrastructure, but the conditions differ
only slightly. Doctors are extremely rushed with a constant overflow of patients and consistently
working in hot rooms with little air circulation. This is problem does not only exist in the public
clinics of general physicians. Specialist physicians have a persistent flood of patients who do not
need a specialist s care, but seek the specialist because there is no general physician available.

Victoria Climbie Case Essay
Throughout this essay, the health, safety and welfare policy and practise that came about after the
Victoria Climbie case will be reviewed and evaluated. After arriving in England in November 1991
from the Ivory Coast, eight year old Victoria Climbie suffered abuse from her great aunt, Marie
Therese Kouao, and her great aunts partner. The anguish and eventual murder of Victoria in 2000
from hypothermia, caused by malnourishment and damp conditions, provoked the most extensive
investigation into the child protection system in British history as described by Batty (Macleod
Brudenell, 2004). The high media profiled incident exposed a clear lack of precision and

The report made 108 sweeping recommendations (Laming, 2003) about modifications that were
needed in the child protection system as a response to the errors made by professionals who had
accountability for Victoria s care. These involved the creation of a children and families board, a
children s commissioner, new local authorities management boards and the creation of a national
children s database. The thrust of the report was to address the integration of children s services,
bringing the relevant sections of the professional sector together to improve co ordination and
communication as that would directly lead to effective collaboration. Following these proposals
from Lord Laming, there have been developments in legislation and policy, which involve
children s welfare, one of which was the Green Paper of Every Child Matters (ECM) (DfES,
2003), a pre legislative document from the government of the day. This built upon existing plans to
strengthen preventative services using the four key themes of: support, early intervention,
problems addressed in the Victoria Climbie case and ensuring adults working with children are
trained. The ECM Green Paper was the basis of a consultation between professionals, parents, cares
and children about how the services for young people were working. Following from this, the
government developed and parliament passed the Children Act

Imposing Congressional Term Limits
Imposing Congressional term limits for the members of the congress would be a terrific idea.
This is because if the Congress knows that their position in Congress is limited, they will get
things done. Mark Levin, author of The Liberty Amendment stated that no person may serve
more than 12 years as a member of congress. 12 years is enough for Congress to pass new laws.
Now if the propose law has not been approved by the other members of the Congress by the time
their term is over, then the next person that steps up can continue to pursue the law. No members
should stay longer than they are supposed to. The term limit is necessary because there are other

Nate s Role In The Fight For Independence
Nate and his family play a major role in the fight for American independence in numerous ways.
One way Nate s family plays an important role in the fight for American independence, is that
some of them serve in the militia. In the text it is stated that both Nate s cousin and brother served
in the militia and protected the colonies. More specifically the text states, his brother Eben was
marching gloriously with his regiment, defending the colonies against the British. Additionally the

realized that he was helping the cause by feeding the troops. When picking through potatoes for the

Hangman Figurative Language
While all people like to believe they are virtuous and honorable, it is often not the case. In fact,
many would rather stand by and watch as unjust treatment occur, thinking it would not affect them.
These people, known collectively as bystanders, are present at the event, but choose to not take
part in it. They often feel remorse for the sufferer, yet would not lend a hand in fear of becoming
one. In The Hangman , a narrative poem by Maurice Ogden, and Eve Bunting s Terrible Things
,figurative language is used to emphasize the significance of bystanders. These literary devices help
develop several cruel yet irrefutable themes. In summary, Maurice Ogden s poem tells the tale of a

In fact, they never even questioned the Terrible Things purpose. When the youngest of the creatures
asked: But why do the Terrible Things take them away? , the response was: ... the Terrible Things
don t need a reason. Just mind your own business... We don t want them to get mad at us (page 2).
This inferior feeling is consistent throughout the story, and restricts the creatures from protesting.
In the end, all but one were taken; however, had they united, it might have been different. Both
texts utilize repetition to develop their respective themes. Maurice Ogden repeats the Hangman
s riddle like answers over and over, exposing the town s ignorance as they abstain from further
interrogation of the foreigner. Comparably, many scenes from Bunting s tale also replays over
and over such as the Terrible Things visits and the animals judgements. Every time a species was
taken, the remaining creatures would always find a flaw of the species to point at; even when
there is nothing wrong, they would have something to discriminate. For example, when the frogs
and fish were taken, their argument was many creatures dislike frogs... and fish are so cold and
unfriendly (page 3). As absurd as the reasons are, the gullible crowds in both stories never fail to
buy into them. Furthermore, when each victim is taken, even though they breathed again for

By having this strategy, his focused was on increasing profitability and profit growth by reaping
the cost reduction that comes from economic of scale, learning effects and location economies.
Douglas Daft has taken different approach by taking localization approach strategy. In this
approach Daft has given back the autonomy power to the Country Manager to decide for any
changes that was suit to customer s expectation. The strategy taken by Daft was not really
successful because even though he managed to meet the customers requirement by customizing
the product but actually in total the company gained lesser profitability and profit growth due to
higher cost per unit of products produced. Question 3 How would you characterize the strategy
Coke is now pursuing? What is the enterprise trying to do? How is this different from the
Goizueta and Daft? What are the benefits? What are the potential costs and risk? Answer 3 I
believe that Coke is now trying to pursue transnational Strategy as it has been practiced by many
multinational companies like Procter and Gamble, Xerox and etc. Goizueta s approach was on
Global Strategy and Daft s approach was more on localization strategy. The transnational Strategy
actually is a combination of both Global and Localization Strategy. The firm seeks to combine the
benefits of global scale efficiencies with the benefits of local responsiveness.

High Cost Of College
When someone hears that you re a college student, that person usually assumes broke college
student . To be honest for most college students this is true. Now coming out of high school i
knew that college would be expensive but i never knew it d be this expensive. It almost feels as if
you re paying to breathe on campus. The most expensive things in college besides the course itself
are the books. Now you would think I m paying $400 for a English course, why would they make
me pay $175 for the book alone. College text books are beyond expensive. Never did i imagine that
books could costso much in life. In elementary school, I use to be so upset over the fact that the
books at the book fair cost $10 and now I m paying over $100 for just... Show more content on

How is education supposed to help us become better people, to have a better future yet it s
costing us way more then it should. Not only is the cost of books horrendous but the average
cost of college overall is horrendous. People constantly say stay in school! or a college degree is
the only way but how are we supposed to pay for it all? College books are costing us the same
amount as someone s rent. I understand that time, work and dedication goes into making these
books but this is our future. Our education, future career and future support is on the line. For
many people the cost of getting an education is the reason for dropping out or never returning. Its
sad when it comes down to people having to work two jobs to be able to pay it off. That s not
what education should be about and making us by these book at this outrageous price is wrong. In
school, no matter what grade, were always taught that dreams are limitless and that s true.
However, the price of getting their is higher than ever. We live in a society where it s all about
money and that effects our education and the books for it. How can we, as students, strive to be
the best without the resources for it. How can we, be able to motivate ourselves when we re in
debt trying to pay off things. The least of a college students worries should be the cost of books.
I ll never be able to agree with the high prices of books. I ll never understand the drastic cost of
college textbooks needed in a class. I can honestly sit here and say that i ve even thought about
dropping out due to the high cost of college itself. This semester I got lucky, as to where I only
had to rent one text but I know there harder and more expensive times ahead. I believe college
textbooks are needed to enhance one s mind however, the astonishing prices on the books are

Jonathan Sewall vs John Adams
Jonathan Sewall and John Adams were close friends and agreed on many issues. British policies
towards the American colonies during the 1760s and 1770s, however, was not one of them. Sewall,
a staunch supporter of authority, defended British policies. John Adams, on the contrary, believed
the policies to be unjust and thus challenged British authority. Sewall believed that the colonial
challenge to British authority threatened the very way of life in the colonies while Adams thought
that British authority provided a bigger threat. Each man s view of the cause of the revolution also
differed.
Sewall defended British Authority by stating that, Man is a social Animal and that without authority
and rules there can be no society. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When people write persuasive essays and articles they often use images and wording to help
express what they wish to get across to the reader. Jonathan Sewall and John Adams were very
skilled in doing this and could thus write extremely convincing arguments. Both used vibrant details
when describing their ideas so that they would be presented in a clear and favorable light.
Sewall and Adams were able to vividly describe images, in order to create a picture in the minds
of the readers. Sewall used dramatic words to describe his feelings such as, It is in vain to think
any longer of drawing them to such a pitch is the Frenzy now raised, that the Colonists will never
yield Obedience to the Laws of the parent State, till, by Experience, they are taught to fear her
power. Adams also used his diction to his advantage when defending his position. But it is honestly
confessed, rather than become subject to the absolute authority of parliament, in all cases of
taxation and internal polity, they will be driven to throw off that of regulating trade. By using
words like these, both Sewall and Adams, were able to express their ideas more effectively to their
intended audience.

Teaching And Learning For Students
Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct
instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct
instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this
type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and
retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated
instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing
different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the
curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this
instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the
students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in
the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it
because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don
t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. One of the best examples of
differentiated instruction comes from The Ron Clark film which is about who is a man from North
Carolina who moved to New York and had the chance to change the lives of students through
differentiated instruction. He

Essay on Haute Cuisine and Antonin Careme
Haute Cuisine has been characterized by French cuisine, and modernized in every era. On June
eighth, 1784 a revolutionary French cook was born Marie Antoine CarГЁme, also known as
Antonin CrГЁme. Antonin would inevitably be known as The king of chefs, and chef of kings .
Antonin s beginning would not be easy like a kings, his training would lead him to cook
magnificently, and he would affect society for centuries with his amazing talent. Antonin was born
in Paris, France, where he had been abandoned by his parents at the height of the French
Revolution. He would begin his career as a kitchen boy at a Parisian chop house, in exchange for

The Education System And The American Educational System
The culture in and surrounding Uganda has fascinated me for a year or two now. I went to
Kabale Uganda for a mission trip during my spring break of senior year. I was able to teach the
students there for two weeks with my team and fell in love with it instantly. That trip spurred my
desire to teach in less fortunate countries once I finish college.
Once of the most significant differences between the Ugandan educational system and the
American educational system that I saw was that access to education was so limited in Uganda. In
1997 Uganda initiated what they called Universal Primary Education (UPE), which aims to
decrease poverty by making primary (elementary) school free, there by more accessible to it s
students. (Bategeka and Okurut, 2006). The problem with UPE is that the government decides
what schools will be part of the UPE program. Which means, the more remote areas may not
have a school that is supported by UPE in walking distance. There is no other form of
transportation for these students, it is highly uncommon for a family to own a car, and if they re
extremely fortunate they may own a bicycle. This forces the students to go to a boarding school
(Outreach Uganda, 2009). The boarding fees are around $2.00 in U.S. currency a semester. At first
appeared to be very manageable to me until I was told while in Uganda that $2.00 in American
currency converted to the Ugandan currency was roughly 2700 shillings That is more than my
college tuition that theses families

Ancient Greek Legacy Essay
Trip Griffin History The Legacy of Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece s legacy contains numerous topics that influence our modern day life including Art
and Architecture, Drama and History, War, Democracy, Science and Technology, and Philosophy.
My guess is that a lot of students will focus on Democracy. However, while it is quite important to
western culture, I have decided to focus on three examples of things that were very interesting to
me Mathematics and Physics, Comedy and Architecture.
First, Math and Physics. Math and science are the reasons we can understand our surrounds and
how on the largest and smallest scale, how stuff works. The Ancient Greek mathematicians used
geometry text compiled by Euclid (for example Euclidean geometry). They also used the
Pythagorean Theorem that was earlier discovered by the Chinese, but was used much more widely
in Ancient Greece. In scien¬ce, Archimedes of Syracuse, estimated the value of pi the ratio of the
circumference of a circle to its diameter. As you can see, the Ancient Greeks contributed
significantly to the math and physics we use today and are learning in school.

Frank Sinatra Success
No one will argue against Frank Sinatra s success in the music industry. An Academy Award
winner, 11 time Grammy winner, and a Peabody recipient, Frank Sinatra led what many consider a
successful life. Although he died wealthy, married, and famous, one must wonder if Frank Sinatra
was truly happy? Sinatra was known for mood swings which often resulted in fights, and had
attempted suicide multiple times ( 8 Things you didn t Know about Frank Sinatra). Just because
Frank Sinatra was outwardly successful, does not mean he was happy. Many believe that success
is rooted within monetary gain. That to be wealthy is to be successful, or to be powerful, but I
believe that holistic success has little to do with one s net worth but rather one s happiness. By
extension, success and happiness do not directly correlate. Success is not necessarily monetary gain
or popularity, but rather self fulfillment and happiness with one s achievements and choices.
As the 19th century English poet, Robert Browning, puts it, Better have failed in the high aim, As
I/Than vulgarly in the low aim succeed . In other words, Browning believes that it is more
important to fight for achievements that do not only better oneself, but effect change on a deeper
level are more honorable, in contrast to the quest for personal gratification. The secular pursuit of
wealth or success does not always result in one s life changing for the better. The job promotion
you have been eyeing does not come with the promise

The Effect that a Longer Summer Vacation Has on Students
The minute that everybody has been expecting for has at long last arrived. The people are
inclining toward the edge of their seats, listening for the last chime to ring to unleash them to
freedom. We all love it when summer vacation has arrived, but the time just passes by so fast. A
high percentage of the students want there to be a longer summer vacation, but are there really
any benefits? Well yes in fact a longer vacation will be associated with many benefits such as
increased social life, health benefits, and educational plus financial gains. Students need time to
relax and de stress. With the accumulation of homework, projects, assignments, tests and quizzes,
students are constantly working and have no time to relax. This can be overwhelming, but
students still put in the effort just to make it through the year because they know they can rest in
the summer. Furthermore, this could cause students to become unmotivated because they will
think that they are trapped in a prison in which they are boundlessly doing work and will never
meet their own goals. A longer vacation will allow us to clear our minds and open them to new
possibilities that would not be possible if we were to follow the same routine every day.
Likewise, it is not only the students that need this vacation, but it is also the staff and faculty as
well who would definitely rather see their family and friends instead of the students for a whole
year. Most of these families go on holidays, but sometimes

Explaining the Decline of Business in 2007
At the onset of this project we came up with the claim that I could use the logarithmic and/or
natural log to explain the decline in business. The way in which this is to be accomplished is by
taking all the sales figures from a 31 day period in 2007. We would then take another month with
the same 31 day period and take those figures. After graphing and comparing the two we
postulate that the graphs would show the direct decline graphically of what we will explain in this
paper. After graphing the figures we saw that the mathematical model that we had previously used
would not be adequate with the explanation. So we then did another 31 day comparative between
a 31 day period in 2007. Then again in 2013. These figures were then compared to the national
average for hotels for the same period. The interesting fact that came about was the direct
correlation between the falls in sales figures both nationally and here in south Florida and the
corresponding securitization and real estate bubbleburst. What we will do in the following pages is
explain what led up to the bubble burst as well as some of the mathematical approaches in
explaining the bursts. Every economic bubblein history started with reckless expansion of money
supply and credit, reckless manipulation of interest rates, or government promotions of low risk
something for nothing schemes. We saw this happen during the Reagan administration with the low
interest rates given. Hence the new popular movie Wolf on Wall

Re-Priming Shot-Shell Primers
This week s chapter six over Reloading the shot shells seem to me almost the same as reloading
a regular rifle cartridge. There just more steps in the process eight totaling. Starting with step
one being de priming and resizing. Which is almost the same in reloading brass. Re shaping the
shell back to the proper dimensions and ejecting the once fired primer out of the shell. Be aware
you should never de prime live primers from hulls! when de priming the process could cause live
primers to detonate. Step two re priming the shell. With modern shot shell primers have been
standardized to the No. 209 size, but, be aware, just because they re there the same size, it doesn
t mean they re identical in other capacities. Primers are built with various levels of energy, and
each load calls for specific primers. If the primer is not fully seated and sticks out you should
attempt to re prime again. Do not keep moving forward in the loading process with a primer that
is not fully seated. This step might also be one reason shotgun re loaders prefer to use progressive
press other that the amount of shells that can be reloaded. In a progressive if the primer protrudes it
will almost likely catch as the turret attempts to rotate and prevent the shell from accessing the next
station.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With step four you start adding other steps that are not like reloading brass. Inserting a wad which
helps seals the gases to provide the pressure to push the charge out. Step five is dropping the shot
charge in the shell. It is important to keep an eye on the volume a projectile occupies inside the
barrel and not wholly fixate upon the projectile s weight. The principle behind stacking buckshot
pellets is that the greater the angle of surface contact between two pellets, the greater the tendency
those pellets will impart energy in that

Life On A Kiibbutz In Amos Oz s Between Friends
Life on a kibbutz is supposed to be like living in utopia; a great sense of community and a

without being alone, as well as the theme of cruelty. The grim shadow of loneliness that is casted

reader to truly grasp the writing style of Toole. A social criticizing theme, controversial characters
and a very unique sense of structure makes ups the novel s 14 chapters. Ignatius is found in a

Ignatius and why should I read a whole novel mainly revolving him? It was disconcerting at first,
it was difficult to maintain interest but as the story progressed you saw deeper into the intricate
mind of this strange gentleman named Ignatius. You began to see that the lack of social skills
was rooted from scarring incidents in his childhood. That he wasn t a cold and unappealing man
as he first appeared; he felt true feelings for his ex girlfriend, he feared being judged as crazy and
entering a mental institution, and he actually could be affected by the actions of his mother. We
also learn that Ms. Reilly was not only looking for her well being, but that there were strands of
love for her son and wanting to see him succeed in life, in whatever sense that may be. Another
very interesting part to the way of Ignatius in Toole s writing is the dominant voice throughout the
story. This can be rooted from the fact that it is said that the story is a loose version of his own
life experiences. Toole s way of presenting a very disturbing, controversial, and difficult to relate to

Children Of Alcoholics Growing Into Adulthood
Every generation that is born is the future of the world. We evolve as a society as one, we build
each other up for the future. The source of this extravagant outcome is people, but we cannot
succeed as a whole if there are individuals who are suffering and are in need of help. Some who
need help and guidance are children of alcoholics (COA s), they bear the time they live with their
parents and they do not receive help in the process. These children go through so many different
issues with family, school, their social, physical and mental wellbeing. Children of alcoholics
growing into adulthood have negative outcomes that can be diminished by school administration
taking a stand to exhibit attention and support to the situation. The schools can contribute
tremendously by having guest speakers to talk about the subject, and by introducing a counseling
profession that can have a thorough background, plus a program or organization that is able to
connect with these children to help and support them.
When offspring live in an emotional and unstable household, they will have many factors that
contribute to their wellbeing. By living with an alcoholic parent it will leave pressure and stress on
the child. The negative factors and risks that affect how children of alcoholics will become going
into adulthood are stated by Sihyun Park and Karen Schepp. The influences that affect the

Human Body Continuously Need Blood Supply Essay
Human body continuously need blood supply to the cell in order to deliver oxygen and nutrient
to the cells and carrying out carbon dioxide out of the cell. In order to have good perfusion in
tissue, a person has to have good cardiac health and patent vessels. Edema also affect tissue
perfusion. There are many reasons that disturbed the normal flow of bloodlike ECG rhythm,
congestive heartfailure, hypertension, gestational hypertension, mitral valve prolapse, coronary
artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease, which are also the exemplars of perfusion. There
are many risk factors that can be modified to prevent the perfusion problem.
Blood pressure greater than 140/90 is known as hypertension. Excessive sodium intake,
hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, extreme tobacco and alcohol use, over activity of sympathetic
nervous system, and over production of sodium retaining hormones and vasoconstriction
substances are major contributing factors of hypertension. Heredity, age, and gender are also the
risk factors for hypertension (Bucher Dirksen, 2014). Hypertension is one of the most underlying
cause of impaired perfusion. High blood pressure for long period of time can shore up smooth
muscles of artery as a result of building up the strength through hypertrophy and hyperplasia, which
results in decrease size of arterial lumen. In older adult, the wall of artery become thick and hard
due to above contributing factors that I mention. This alter vasomotor tone and blood

Essay about The Characterisation of Clytaemnestra in the...
In this essay I intend to discuss how Aeschylus presents Clytaemnestra in the Oresteia and how he
marks the extent to which traits of Clytaemnestra s character remain defiantly unchanged as she
manipulates events and characters around her. Clytaemnestra is the only character who appears in
all three plays in the trilogy, but despite her immense stage presence she remains a troublesome
character to interpret due to the highly ambiguous nature of her words. I intend to show that the key
to unlocking Clytaemnestra s manly heart lies in the fact that she hated Agamemnon, not simply
because he had killed her child, nor because she loved Aegisthus, but out of a jealousy that was not

260 1)), it becomes clear that the Chorus subversively believe that Clytaemnestra only wields
power as her husband s regent. However, Clytaemnestra does wield power impressively. The
Watchman at the beginning of Agamemnon clearly fears retribution from Clytaemnestra if he
betrays knowledge: `The ox is on my tongue...I speak to those who know; to those who don t my
mind s blank (Ag. 38 43). Haruo Konishi believes that `both the Watchman and Messenger were
hired by the adulterous couple (69), however there appears insubstantial textual evidence to support
his claim that `Clytaemnestra s heart is counselled by a man...Aegisthus asserts that he alone did all
the planning (41). This means that the commands the audience hear Clytaemnestra delivering to
every character she encounters are all of her own accord. Clytaemnestra even commands the
chorus of slave women in Libation Bearers who furiously hate her. Although the Chorus are
unwilling to perform the libations to appease Agamemnon s soul on behalf of the `godless woman
(Lib. 34), they do not oppose her wishes despite believing the ritual hypocritical and futile: `What
can redeem the blood that wets the soil? (Lib. 49 50).
Clytaemnestra has no qualm in exerting control over those who she ostensibly loves. In Libation
Bearers, Aegisthus appears following s Clytaemnestra instruction, saying `Yes, I have my summons
(Lib. 824). Although he does not trust Clytemnestra s report that

The Importance Of Collective Punishment
Look into a classroom and one would see that collective punishment has long been used to elicit
good behavior from students, but it is time for a closer look. Using tactics of peer pressure to try to
enforce rules on surrounding students does not tend to work. Teachers who use collective
punishment usually find more resentment from their students rather than the good behavior they
are looking for, which begs the question, why do we still think of collective punishmentas an
effective way to make people conform? Using collective punishment goes against equality between
students, and the equity of the classroom. Schools should not enforce collective punishment as a
technique to correct behavior, since it can be harmful to innocent students, is ineffective at
correcting behavior long term, and can help instruct students to manipulate others with peer
pressure.
In classrooms around the world, students are being held back from leaving class, eating lunch, or
going to recess due to one reason; collective punishment. Collective punishment can be detrimental
to students, and can even be overwhelming to children who did nothing wrong, I started noticing
just how devastating group punishments can be to the type of child who wants to please and is
determined to follow the rules , (Watson) as the students don t understand why they are being
punished because they didn t do anything wrong. It can cause resentment in students who did
nothing wrong to suddenly be punished for their peers

Susquehanna River Essay
The health of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay was found based on Biological
(macroinvertebrates and wildlife) and Chemicals characteristics (pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphates,
nitrates, etc.) as well as physical observations (amount of forested buffers, wetlands, etc.) Overall it
was concluded that the health of the water was good to excellent. What was found was that many
of the macroinvertebrates found in the water were sensitive or facultative, meaning the water
quality was good enough for them to live in. Also, the level of ph, temperature, dissolved oxygen,
phosphates, nitrates, and turbidityshowed that the water quality was good. Finally, while we were
canoeing down the Susquehanna River, observations were made on the land... Show more content

Underwater grasses, or Elodea, was observed as well. This wide variety of life is a good indicator
of the water s health.
The chemical characteristics observed and documented were pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrate,
turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. Each of these chemical levels were documented and found
differently. Most were found using a kit or a device. The numbers found, would tell us how
polluted the stream was and how much nutrients were in the water. Each chemical has a scale for
telling what a good level is and what a bad level is. If an excess amount of nutrients was found in
the water, algae could be formed. When algae is formed it blocks sunlight from shining into the
water, which creates dead zones. This is called eutrophication. A dead zone is an area where there is
no life. This can cause major problems like population issues and more. If the algae continues to
grow in the river, the whole body of water can die out, and people as well as other organisms are
very dependent on the Susquehanna. While on the river though, there was an absence of algae, so
sunlight is able to get through the water, which is very good.
Physical characteristics are important as well. While canoeing, many things were observed and
notices. Tires were seen at the bottom of the river. This is most likely because of the highway that
runs on both sides or the river, and over it on bridges too. Because of the highway, there is a high

Unraveling The Enigma Of Christopher Mccandless
Unraveling the Enigma of Christopher McCandless Throughout the novel, Into the Wild, Jon
Krakauer sincerely disentangles the haunting enigma of Chris McCandless. By tracing the places,
people and experiences intertwined in the life of McCandless, Krakauer narrates the life story of a
puzzling corpse found in a bus buried in the Alaskan frontier in a truly authentic way of storytelling.
Although Krakauer inserts direct quotes from people who McCandless came into direct contact
with and experts from primary source journals, Krakauer s own voice in the narration of the dead
man s life is trustworthy due to the similarities the protagonist and the author share. Common
connections such as similar paternal stress made outstanding impacts in both men s lives, starting at
a young age. Furthermore, a sort of agitation with the soul ailed Krakauer and McCandless fueled
by a reckless persona confined in the modern world. Lastly, a craving for human contact when in
total isolation troubled both the author and subject in their adventures narrowed in the natural
world. The mutual bond apparent to the reader between Krakauer and McCandless makes the
writing in the novel sincere enabling Krakauer to speak of a dead s man life with profound
authority and truth. Unconditional understanding through shared paternal issues, agitation of the
soul, and need for human contact grants Krakauer access to divulge into the conundrum of Chis
McCandless and authority to earnestly narrate the mysterious

The Roots of Poverty and Globalization
The Question: Globalization and poverty
Once the Era of apartheid had come to an end in 1994 the internationally development community
entered South Africa promoting the microcredit model with high hopes to empower the poorest
black communities to break loose from the poverty spiral, however the Microcredit model was seen
to be having the complete opposite effect, ultimately causing incredible damage to the area. The
microcredit model was supposed to be the means of bringing sustainable development to the
extreme poor areas. The model has been named the anti development intervention (1), because in
practice it has only shown that it supports consumption spending. The poor are worse off than
ever before; to keep up with the obligations of repaying their microloans, they are forced to sell
the few assets they own or borrow money from friends or relatives or even worse take up new
microloans in order to pay for the old ones. This is not the only downfall of this type of so called
sustainable development; another problem that emerges from this is that the actual businesses
emerging form microloans are anything but businesses elevating poverty. The type of business that
has been arising from the microloans have only created hyper competition amongst all the new
businesses as well as the old ones, leaving about 40% of the South African population repaying
debt. The poorest and most vulnerable are left behind to take care of themselves drowning in debt,
while the private banks

John Lewis Christmas Marketing Campaign
John Lewis Christmas marketing campaign
This year s advert, entitled The Journey , hopes to do as well if not better than its predecessor. The
ВЈ6 million campaign created by Adam+EveDDB tells the story of a snowman who travels across
rivers, mountains, roads and cities to get the perfect gift for the snowwoman who stands with him
in the garden. * The advert could ve been seen on channel 4 just before Christmas and then it was
easily accessible on internet(facebook, youtube, etc). John Lewis also was running a snowman
hunt, with six snowmen figures hidden around stores. If customers find them all they could win a
price, including a ВЈ10,000 holiday, Sony laptop, spa days and gift hampers. John Lewis has also
run social media activity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also looking at the promotional mix they have done pretty well again, as we have new products
which are the snowman book and the snowman toys, sales offers in their stores at certain products.
Their PR department did very well as they came with articles just before launching the advert
letting people know when and where will they be able to see the advert. The personal selling was
great as well as when going to the check out they would ask the customers if they found everything
they need and also if they would be interested in buying the snowman book, etc. Direct marketing
was great as well as there was a twitter account where you could fallow the snowman s adventure,
and competitions on Facebook and in store. An improvement I would say it would be that maybe
the customers where interested in more sales promotions and more direct marketing would
convince customers to buy more products and come to John Lewis more often. Although the Advert
did cost a huge amount of money that is nothing compared to the ВЈ157.8 million revenue they
made last year. Another reason why I think that the campaign was successful was that the advert
they made has been voted as the year s most favourite TV advert. And finally the last reason why
I am sure that the campaign was extremely successful was that none of the directors of John Lewis
expected a record breaker sales figure. Web links used

Gingival Stereotypes In Syria
There are several differences among the male and female populations of Syria. In Syria, the
average height of males is five feet, eight inches and females are generally five feet, one and a
half inches ( Average , 2016). Syrians are stereotyped as having olive toned skin, black eyes, and
black hair, but in fact, many have very light skin, brown or blonde hair, and blue or green eyes
(Das, 2017). A native group, the Kurds, have light skin, green eyes, and blonde hair (Das, 2017). A
majority of this population have almond shaped eyes. Gingival biotypes may affect dental treatment
success. Females have thin gingival biotypes with triangular shaped teeth and males have thick
biotypes with square teeth (Barakat Dayoub, 2016, p. 141 ). The people... Show more content on

it is a sign of wealth and status in a family for its women to dress in long robes with their faces

restricted to the home and men have possession over them. Family is important and the more
children one has, the more fortunate one is considered ( Syria ). Syrians are affectionate individuals

Cholera Outbreak in Haiti
Cholera Outbreak in Haiti Vibrio cholerae is a bacterium that infects the intestines of humans
(CDC, 2016). While there are several strains of vibrio cholerae, only two types have been known
to cause cholera outbreaks and only one (type O1) is responsible for outbreaks globally (WHO,
2015). Cholera infection is an acute diarrheal disease (CDC, 2016). It is extremely virulent and
can affect children and adults with equal severity if left untreated (WHO, 2015). Vibrio cholerae
has a short incubation period of 2 to 5 days, an aspect of the disease that leads to severe patterns of
outbreaks (WHO, 2015). 80% of individuals infected with the cholerabacterium are asymptomatic
(WHO, 2015). However, the bacteria are present in infected... Show more content on

The assembly line created a mass production of goods to be sold to earn a profit. Paying workers more money also contributes to the workers buying more. The God of Brave New World is Ford for he invented the assembly line, the ability to mass produce, and the vision that everyone could own a car (Boyle, 2013). Henry Ford in Brave New World is seen as the god of this society. People worship and praise him and this is due to his invention of the assembly line. Both the book and modern life has this in common because Ford did contribute to consumerism in America by creating the assembly line as well as paying workers more money so that they will spend more. Advertisements also play a big role in both the World State and modern life. In the book, Hypnopaedia serves as a form of advertisement that teaches people to want to buy more. • 6. The State Of Lying By William Shakespeare The state of lying is a convincing art that not many people can pull off effectively. There are different factors that have to be taken into account in order to consider something as a good lie. In a text, 3 factors that make up a convincing lie are the character and their traits, the situation involved and how persuasive they are. Speech is a thing of beauty as it can be manipulated in many ways to get people to believe you. A character s traits allow a person to observe their behavior and how they are able to manipulate the language. Odysseus is able to use his cunning to manipulate the language into his favor making the suitors believe that he is indeed a beggar. The person s ability to sway the language in their way against their opponent allows them to manipulate their minds. There are always liars throughout many texts but what separate them from the exceptional liars are these factors. A character is often considered strong or weak based on the language and behavior during the epic or story. That same language along with the person s traits, can determine whether that character is a great liar or not. In the Odyssey, Odysseus goes to great lengths to lie and deceive the suitors into thinking he s a beggar. During the fight against the beggar Odysseus downplays the whole situation by stating Friends, how can an old man, worn down with pain, stand to a young buck? Its just this belly of mine, this troublemaker, tempts to take a licking. (Od.377.60 63). Odysseus lie sets up how shrewd he is, allowing the beggar king to believe that he could take on Odysseus with ease. Odysseus uses his wisdom brilliantly by trying to obtain some sympathy making him fight someone who is beyond younger then he is. Odysseus knows his character and how wise he is which allows him to use that to his advantage. He uses his physical appearance as a beggar to convince the suitors of how poor he was that he needed to beg. Another character who uses their traits to their advantage is the daughter of Zeus, Helen. Helen, who is the wife of King Menelaus, is the main point as to why the Trojan war even begun. One of the ways kids learn is by watching and mimicking the world around them, especially their parents. They are quick to learn when words and actions don t coincide, for example, when a parent spanks a child because the child hits someone else. Being a parent is not an easy job and it takes time and patience to discipline children. After a year of implementing a specific discipline for my daughter s temper tantrums, I witnessed my daughter exercise self control at the age of three. Temper tantrums were her specialty. When my daughter flew out of control I would put her in her room until she calmed down. Then she was allowed to rejoin the family and finish the task she was asked to do, or apologize depending on the circumstances. In this particular instance, when my daughter got angry she picked up her blanket and stomped upstairs crying without me saying a word other than she couldn t play her musical instruments in the same room while her sister was watching television. She stayed upstairs for about ten minutes. After that, she came downstairs and proceeded to play quietly. I sat there in utter amazement! She had disciplined herself. In Death of a Salesman Arthur Miller portrays how the absence of a father taking on the role of raising his children can affect the children for the rest of their life. The common problem in Brazil for health care professionals seems to be a lack of distribution of doctors into the more rural areas of the country. On average in Brazil, there are only 2 hospital beds per 1,000 people. In the northern regions of Brazil, where more rural areas are found, the amount of hospitals per resident is lower than the average. Much like in the United States, doctors are very reluctant to the thought of beginning a practice in a small rural town. Reasons being that small rural towns are usually less populated and on average bring in less household income. In Brazil, the idea of practicing medicine in these depressed areas is even less glamorous because of the government involvement in health care. In these areas, practices receive less attention including lack of supplies and infrastructure. Physicians located within wealthier and more populous areas have slightly better access to equipment and infrastructure, but the conditions differ only slightly. Doctors are extremely rushed with a constant overflow of patients and consistently working in hot rooms with little air circulation. The anguish and eventual murder of Victoria in 2000 from hypothermia, caused by malnourishment and damp conditions, provoked the most extensive investigation into the child protection system in British history as described by Batty (Macleod Brudenell, 2004). The report made 108 sweeping recommendations (Laming, 2003) about modifications that were needed in the child protection system as a response to the errors made by professionals who had accountability for Victoria s care. These involved the creation of a children and families board, a children s commissioner, new local authorities management boards and the creation of a national children s database. The thrust of the report was to address the integration of children s services, bringing the relevant sections of the professional sector together to improve co ordination and communication as that would directly lead to effective collaboration. Following these proposals from Lord Laming, there have been developments in legislation and policy, which involve children s welfare, one of which was the Green Paper of Every Child Matters (ECM) (DfES, 2003), a pre legislative document from the government of the day. This built upon existing plans to strengthen preventative services using the four key themes of: support, early intervention, problems addressed in the Victoria Climbie case and ensuring adults working with children are trained. These people, known collectively as bystanders, are present at the event, but choose to not take part in it. They often feel remorse for the sufferer, yet would not lend a hand in fear of becoming one. In The Hangman , a narrative poem by Maurice Ogden, and Eve Bunting s Terrible Things ,figurative language is used to emphasize the significance of bystanders. For example, when the frogs and fish were taken, their argument was many creatures dislike frogs... and fish are so cold and unfriendly (page 3). Although, this jewel meant so much to these innocent Indians, to the others that stole it only meant money. The moonstone was extremely well known. For example when Betteredge says: We, have been talking of the loss of the Indian diamond, in my aunt s house in Yorkshire, two years since. Mr. Buff thinks, as I think, that the whole story ought, in the interest of the truth, to be placed on record in writing (Moonstone 21). The strategy taken by Daft was not really successful because even though he managed to meet the customers requirement by customizing the product but actually in total the company gained lesser profitability and profit growth due to higher cost per unit of products produced. Answer 3 I believe that Coke is now trying to pursue transnational Strategy as it has been practiced by many multinational companies like Procter and Gamble, Xerox and etc. Goizueta s approach was on Global Strategy and Daft s approach was more on localization strategy. • 24. Teaching And Learning For Students Many school systems believe that the only effective way for students to learn is through direct instruction. This isn t the only way, but it is the most common way throughout America. Direct instruction is the easiest way for teachers to instruct to a whole group and students are used to this type of instruction. But that style of teaching isn t exactly the best way for students to learn and retain information. One of the most effective ways for students to learn is through differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a framework for effective teaching that involves providing different students with different avenues to learn. This style of instruction allows for the curriculum to adapt to certain needs and interests of individual students. (Bravmann) Making this instruction one of the most effective styles of teaching. It also gives both the teachers and the students more of an opportunity to learn in different ways that will help them to be successful in the long run. Since this type of instruction involves a ton of work many teachers don t use it because they don t have the time but it is really worth the time, especially for the students who don t learn like everyone else when it comes to direct instruction. I went to Kabale Uganda for a mission trip during my spring break of senior year. I was able to teach the students there for two weeks with my team and fell in love with it instantly. That trip spurred my desire to teach in less fortunate countries once I finish college. Once of the most significant differences between the Ugandan educational system and the American educational system that I saw was that access to education was so limited in Uganda. In 1997 Uganda initiated what they called Universal Primary Education (UPE), which aims to decrease poverty by making primary (elementary) school free, there by more accessible to it s students. (Bategeka and Okurut, 2006). The problem with UPE is that the government decides what schools will be part of the UPE program. Which means, the more remote areas may not have a school that is supported by UPE in walking distance. There is no other form of transportation for these students, it is highly uncommon for a family to own a car, and if they re extremely fortunate they may own a bicycle. This forces the students to go to a boarding school (Outreach Uganda, 2009). The boarding fees are around $2.00 in U.S. currency a semester. Ancient Greek Legacy Essay Trip Griffin History The Legacy of Ancient Greece Ancient Greece s legacy contains numerous topics that influence our modern day life including Art and Architecture, Drama and History, War, Democracy, Science and Technology, and Philosophy. My guess is that a lot of students will focus on Democracy. However, while it is quite important to western culture, I have decided to focus on three examples of things that were very interesting to me Mathematics and Physics, Comedy and Architecture. First, Math and Physics. Math and science are the reasons we can understand our surrounds and how on the largest and smallest scale, how stuff works. The Ancient Greek mathematicians used geometry text compiled by Euclid (for example Euclidean geometry). Sinatra was known for mood swings which often resulted in fights, and had attempted suicide multiple times ( 8 Things you didn t Know about Frank Sinatra). Just because Frank Sinatra was outwardly successful, does not mean he was happy. Many believe that success is rooted within monetary gain. That to be wealthy is to be successful, or to be powerful, but I believe that holistic success has little to do with one s net worth but rather one s happiness. By extension, success and happiness do not directly correlate. Success is not necessarily monetary gain or popularity, but rather self fulfillment and happiness with one s achievements and choices. The people are inclining toward the edge of their seats, listening for the last chime to ring to unleash them to freedom. We all love it when summer vacation has arrived, but the time just passes by so fast. A high percentage of the students want there to be a longer summer vacation, but are there really any benefits? Well yes in fact a longer vacation will be associated with many benefits such as increased social life, health benefits, and educational plus financial gains. Students need time to relax and de stress. With the accumulation of homework, projects, assignments, tests and quizzes, students are constantly working and have no time to relax. This can be overwhelming, but students still put in the effort just to make it through the year because they know they can rest in the summer. Furthermore, this could cause students to become unmotivated because they will think that they are trapped in a prison in which they are boundlessly doing work and will never meet their own goals. A longer vacation will allow us to clear our minds and open them to new possibilities that would not be possible if we were to follow the same routine every day. Likewise, it is not only the students that need this vacation, but it is also the staff and faculty as well who would definitely rather see their family and friends instead of the students for a whole year. • 31. Explaining the Decline of Business in 2007 At the onset of this project we came up with the claim that I could use the logarithmic and/or natural log to explain the decline in business. The way in which this is to be accomplished is by taking all the sales figures from a 31 day period in 2007. We would then take another month with the same 31 day period and take those figures. After graphing and comparing the two we postulate that the graphs would show the direct decline graphically of what we will explain in this paper. After graphing the figures we saw that the mathematical model that we had previously used would not be adequate with the explanation. So we then did another 31 day comparative between a 31 day period in 2007. Then again in 2013. These figures were then compared to the national average for hotels for the same period. The interesting fact that came about was the direct correlation between the falls in sales figures both nationally and here in south Florida and the corresponding securitization and real estate bubbleburst. What we will do in the following pages is explain what led up to the bubble burst as well as some of the mathematical approaches in explaining the bursts. There are many reasons that disturbed the normal flow of bloodlike ECG rhythm, congestive heartfailure, hypertension, gestational hypertension, mitral valve prolapse, coronary artery disease, and peripheral vascular disease, which are also the exemplars of perfusion. Haruo Konishi believes that `both the Watchman and Messenger were hired by the adulterous couple (69), however there appears insubstantial textual evidence to support his claim that `Clytaemnestra s heart is counselled by a man...Aegisthus asserts that he alone did all the planning (41). This means that the commands the audience hear Clytaemnestra delivering to every character she encounters are all of her own accord. Clytaemnestra even commands the chorus of slave women in Libation Bearers who furiously hate her. Although the Chorus are unwilling to perform the libations to appease Agamemnon s soul on behalf of the `godless woman (Lib. 34), they do not oppose her wishes despite believing the ritual hypocritical and futile: `What can redeem the blood that wets the soil? (Lib. 49 50). Clytaemnestra has no qualm in exerting control over those who she ostensibly loves. In Libation Bearers, Aegisthus appears following s Clytaemnestra instruction, saying `Yes, I have my summons (Lib. 824). Although he does not trust Clytemnestra s report that ... • 40. The Importance Of Collective Punishment Look into a classroom and one would see that collective punishment has long been used to elicit good behavior from students, but it is time for a closer look. Using tactics of peer pressure to try to enforce rules on surrounding students does not tend to work. Teachers who use collective punishment usually find more resentment from their students rather than the good behavior they are looking for, which begs the question, why do we still think of collective punishmentas an effective way to make people conform? Using collective punishment goes against equality between students, and the equity of the classroom. Schools should not enforce collective punishment as a technique to correct behavior, since it can be harmful to innocent students, is ineffective at correcting behavior long term, and can help instruct students to manipulate others with peer pressure. In classrooms around the world, students are being held back from leaving class, eating lunch, or going to recess due to one reason; collective punishment. Collective punishment can be detrimental to students, and can even be overwhelming to children who did nothing wrong, I started noticing just how devastating group punishments can be to the type of child who wants to please and is determined to follow the rules , (Watson) as the students don t understand why they are being punished because they didn t do anything wrong. It can cause resentment in students who did nothing wrong to suddenly be punished for their peers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Susquehanna River Essay The health of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay was found based on Biological (macroinvertebrates and wildlife) and Chemicals characteristics (pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphates, nitrates, etc.) as well as physical observations (amount of forested buffers, wetlands, etc.) Overall it was concluded that the health of the water was good to excellent. What was found was that many of the macroinvertebrates found in the water were sensitive or facultative, meaning the water quality was good enough for them to live in. Also, the level of ph, temperature, dissolved oxygen, phosphates, nitrates, and turbidityshowed that the water quality was good. Finally, while we were canoeing down the Susquehanna River, observations were made on the land... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Underwater grasses, or Elodea, was observed as well. This wide variety of life is a good indicator of the water s health. The chemical characteristics observed and documented were pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrate, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. Each of these chemical levels were documented and found differently. Most were found using a kit or a device. The numbers found, would tell us how polluted the stream was and how much nutrients were in the water. Each chemical has a scale for telling what a good level is and what a bad level is. If an excess amount of nutrients was found in the water, algae could be formed. When algae is formed it blocks sunlight from shining into the water, which creates dead zones. This is called eutrophication. A dead zone is an area where there is no life. This can cause major problems like population issues and more. If the algae continues to grow in the river, the whole body of water can die out, and people as well as other organisms are very dependent on the Susquehanna. While on the river though, there was an absence of algae, so sunlight is able to get through the water, which is very good. Physical characteristics are important as well. While canoeing, many things were observed and notices. Tires were seen at the bottom of the river. This is most likely because of the highway that runs on both sides or the river, and over it on bridges too. Because of the highway, there is a high risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Unraveling The Enigma Of Christopher Mccandless Unraveling the Enigma of Christopher McCandless Throughout the novel, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer sincerely disentangles the haunting enigma of Chris McCandless. By tracing the places, people and experiences intertwined in the life of McCandless, Krakauer narrates the life story of a puzzling corpse found in a bus buried in the Alaskan frontier in a truly authentic way of storytelling. Although Krakauer inserts direct quotes from people who McCandless came into direct contact with and experts from primary source journals, Krakauer s own voice in the narration of the dead man s life is trustworthy due to the similarities the protagonist and the author share. Common connections such as similar paternal stress made outstanding impacts in both men s lives, starting at a young age. Furthermore, a sort of agitation with the soul ailed Krakauer and McCandless fueled by a reckless persona confined in the modern world. Lastly, a craving for human contact when in total isolation troubled both the author and subject in their adventures narrowed in the natural world. The mutual bond apparent to the reader between Krakauer and McCandless makes the writing in the novel sincere enabling Krakauer to speak of a dead s man life with profound authority and truth. Unconditional understanding through shared paternal issues, agitation of the soul, and need for human contact grants Krakauer access to divulge into the conundrum of Chis McCandless and authority to earnestly narrate the mysterious ... • 43. The Roots of Poverty and Globalization The Question: Globalization and poverty Once the Era of apartheid had come to an end in 1994 the internationally development community entered South Africa promoting the microcredit model with high hopes to empower the poorest black communities to break loose from the poverty spiral, however the Microcredit model was seen to be having the complete opposite effect, ultimately causing incredible damage to the area. The microcredit model was supposed to be the means of bringing sustainable development to the extreme poor areas. The model has been named the anti development intervention (1), because in practice it has only shown that it supports consumption spending. The poor are worse off than ever before; to keep up with the obligations of repaying their microloans, they are forced to sell the few assets they own or borrow money from friends or relatives or even worse take up new microloans in order to pay for the old ones. This is not the only downfall of this type of so called sustainable development; another problem that emerges from this is that the actual businesses emerging form microloans are anything but businesses elevating poverty. The type of business that has been arising from the microloans have only created hyper competition amongst all the new businesses as well as the old ones, leaving about 40% of the South African population repaying debt. The poorest and most vulnerable are left behind to take care of themselves drowning in debt, while the private banks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. John Lewis Christmas Marketing Campaign John Lewis Christmas marketing campaign This year s advert, entitled The Journey , hopes to do as well if not better than its predecessor. The ВЈ6 million campaign created by Adam+EveDDB tells the story of a snowman who travels across rivers, mountains, roads and cities to get the perfect gift for the snowwoman who stands with him in the garden. * The advert could ve been seen on channel 4 just before Christmas and then it was easily accessible on internet(facebook, youtube, etc). John Lewis also was running a snowman hunt, with six snowmen figures hidden around stores. If customers find them all they could win a price, including a ВЈ10,000 holiday, Sony laptop, spa days and gift hampers. John Lewis has also run social media activity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also looking at the promotional mix they have done pretty well again, as we have new products which are the snowman book and the snowman toys, sales offers in their stores at certain products. Their PR department did very well as they came with articles just before launching the advert letting people know when and where will they be able to see the advert. The personal selling was great as well as when going to the check out they would ask the customers if they found everything they need and also if they would be interested in buying the snowman book, etc. Direct marketing was great as well as there was a twitter account where you could fallow the snowman s adventure, and competitions on Facebook and in store. An improvement I would say it would be that maybe the customers where interested in more sales promotions and more direct marketing would convince customers to buy more products and come to John Lewis more often. Although the Advert did cost a huge amount of money that is nothing compared to the ВЈ157.8 million revenue they made last year. Another reason why I think that the campaign was successful was that the advert they made has been voted as the year s most favourite TV advert. And finally the last reason why I am sure that the campaign was extremely successful was that none of the directors of John Lewis expected a record breaker sales figure. Web links used ... In Syria, the average height of males is five feet, eight inches and females are generally five feet, one and a half inches ( Average , 2016). Syrians are stereotyped as having olive toned skin, black eyes, and black hair, but in fact, many have very light skin, brown or blonde hair, and blue or green eyes (Das, 2017). A native group, the Kurds, have light skin, green eyes, and blonde hair (Das, 2017). A majority of this population have almond shaped eyes. Gingival biotypes may affect dental treatment success. While there are several strains of vibrio cholerae, only two types have been known to cause cholera outbreaks and only one (type O1) is responsible for outbreaks globally (WHO, 2015). Cholera infection is an acute diarrheal disease (CDC, 2016). It is extremely virulent and can affect children and adults with equal severity if left untreated (WHO, 2015). Vibrio cholerae has a short incubation period of 2 to 5 days, an aspect of the disease that leads to severe patterns of outbreaks (WHO, 2015). 80% of individuals infected with the cholerabacterium are asymptomatic (WHO, 2015).
