E Commerce Engaging With Physical Stores
And there are more examples of e commerce engaging with physical stores. Such as, a few months
ago, Amazon opened the first physical store in the US. At the same time, Google has opened its
Google shop, online furniture retailer Made.com has been opening showrooms to display their
products. This has proved the online web and the physical stores are actually beneficial to each other.
Methodology
This research paper will involve the use of qualitative approach as the main research methodology.
This is a common case study method, which provides a clear vision on related implication of the
research topic to researcher (Kondracki Wellman, 2002). Besides, the data in this method depends on
human experience and this will be more persuasive and powerful than only data gathered via
quantitative research. The reason to apply qualitative case study tool in this study due to its flexibility
of use and also its ability, which allows the researcher to express their ideas and thoughts in the within
context of the research (Maxwell. 2005).
The study involves both primary and secondary research in order to have a clear vision on the research
question. Secondary data will be collected from Tesco Inc. such as the sales, the number of visiting
customers in different period. And the primary data will be conducted in two ways, on site visit and
online questionnaire. The methodology being used in this study has also bring up a lot of challenges.
First, as the paper is studying on a

Cause Of Water Erosion In The United States
Introduction: Erosion is destruction on the rangeland from wind, water, cattle, and other natural
agents. The process where the Earth gets worn down and removes material from the top of the soil.
Erosion has been dated back to Plato and Aristotle (Montgomery et al 2007). There are many types of
erosion, water erosion, sheet erosion, gravitational erosion, and wind erosion (Zonghu et al 1991).
Water erosion is mainly in fields, where rilling would take place (Evan and Morgan 1974). Water
erosion usually happens due to the lack of cover on the rangelands, and heavy rainfall will destroy
plants, and even move the soil. Wind erosion is the most common type of erosion. One of the greatest
problems in the United State is the wind shifting the soil surface (Pierson et al 1961). Livestock such
as cattle (Bos taurus) also pose a threat to the landscape. Hart (1949) did a study on dairy farms, and
found excessive gully erosion. Land with erosion losses the ability to hold water for the soil (Gifford
and Whitehead 1982; Boardman and Mortlock 1993) while also losing key nutrients such as ... Show

Erosion can hardly be managed, and the best way to help erosion is to not let it happen to begin with.
In developing countries, more and more erosion has been discovered due to the lack of knowledge and
care for the landscapes (Lal et al 2001). Keeping vegetation on the soil surface as a cover is the major
key to keeping erosion away from the landscapes (Herrick and Duniway 2014). Nebraska deals with
mainly wind and gully erosion, but in places with a beach, managers and public are starting to see
beach erosion, which will actually result in property losses (Fischer et al 1990; Sorenson Dronen
Knudsen Jensen 2016). No matter what type of erosion, because of the increase in population of
humans, erosion needs to be considered and managed for so that our landscapes will have a fighting

Ernest Hemingway Fifty Grand Essay
DEO RIDHO EVINDRA

INTRODUCTION TO PROSE
Lecture: Ari Jogaiswara Adipurwawidjana
FIFTY GRAND This short story is one of the stories in Men Without Women, written by Ernest
Hemingway, an American writer. I started to love every Hemingway s short story since I reached this
semester especially this short story, which is tells about boxing that is one of my favorite sport. I think
Hemingway was a man s man. He wrote everything covered both things that happened in World War I
and World War II, he had deep sea stories, he liked to tell about himself, every journey he had done
and using I which is refered to his main character of his stories that could make people who never read

Sounds strange enough to me why did he keep the game on? He could say give up, though. I think
Jack pride at stake here. He must decide what is more important, lose his bet or his belt. Maybe that is
the reason why he survived so far. Altough we know, in the end Jack made a foul to Walcott and is
disqualified.
From this quote (which was Jack said):
I think I can last. I don t want this bohunk to stop me.
He must be thinking about something just to finish this fight before the game ends. No matter how. I
think Jack thought so.
And take a look at this quote:
He (means Jack) certainly did used to make the fellows he fought hate boxing. That was why he hated
Richie Lewis so. He never got Richie s goat. Richie Lewis always had about three new dirty things
Jack could not do. Jack was as safe as a church all the time he was in there, as long as he was strong.
I will underlined this statement: Richie Lewis always had about three new dirty things Jack could not
do. That was why he hated him so much. And if we go back to the game between Jack and Walcott. I
think he had prepared well for this dirty thing before the gong of the last round rang. He had prepared
to do something bad to finish this fight because he told Jerry and John that he knew he could not stand
any longer in this match. And perhaps he had made a decision or had knew the good answer about
what he had to choose between his belt or his bet. So that was why he made a foul to Walcott and is
disqualified.

Community Health Center Of Central Wyoming ( Chccw ) Faces...
Build Your Redesign Vocabulary Organizations are constantly changing over time to keep up with
internal and external environmental demands. When organizations are in the process of changing, an
organizational redesign is in the works. The purpose of this assignment is to discuss redesign
challenges that Community Health Center of Central Wyoming (CHCCW) faces during its redesign
phase of organizational change. Fundamentals of Organizational Redesign Organizational redesign is
the process in which changing an organization s informal design is due to shifting dynamics in the
organization s environment (Spector, 2013, p. 78). This happens for a variety of reasons, and an
organization should strategically consider both the internal and external environment for causes in the
dynamic shift. Organizational redesign does not just effect policy and process development, but also
the behaviors and norms of the organizational culture. One reason for leaders of an organization to
consider an organizational redesign is financial status of the organization. This is the case for
CHCCW. CHCCW has been in the process of an organizational redesign for lack of financial
sustainability, along with improving the cultural and morale of the organization for the past couple of
years. Organizational Redesign Challenges There are many different redesign challenges that
organizations must comprehend. By being aware of the potential challenges, leaders can develop a
strategic plan to be prepared if

Summary Modigliani Miller
L1 Modigliani Miller (1958) The Cost of Capital, Corporation Finance and the Theory of Investment
This article mainly discusses the cost of capital, the required return necessary to make a capital
budgeting project worthwhile. Cost of capital includes the cost of debt and the cost of equity. Theorist
conclude that the cost of capital to the owners of a firm is simply the rate of interest on bonds.
In a world without uncertainty the rational approach would be (1) to maximize profits and (2) to
maximize market value. When uncertainty arises, these statements vanish and change into a utility
maximization. The goal is to get more insight in the effect of financial structure on market valuations.
I. Valuation of Securities, Leverage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eventual returns to either of these investments would be the same. Therefore, the price of L must
be the same as the price of U minus the money borrowed D, which is the value of L s debt.
Proposition 2
→ re = ro + (ro rd) x D/E i = required rate of return on equity (cost of equity) pk = cost of capital for
an all equity firm r = required rate of return on borrowings (i.e., cost of debt or interest rate)
D/S = debt to equity ratio
That is, the expected yield of a share of stock is equal to the appropriate capitalization rate pk for a
pure equity stream in the class, plus a premium related to financial risk equal to the debt to equity ratio

C. Some Qualifications and Extensions of the Basic Propositions
Effects of Present Method of Taxing Corporations
Proposition 1 becomes (with taxes):
τ = average rate of corporate income tax π = expected net income accruing to the common stock
holder
Proposition 2 becomes (with taxes): pk can no longer be indentified with the average cost of capital
when taxes come into play. Yet, to simplify things the writers will still do this.
Effects of a Plurality of Bonds and Interest Rates

Metaphors In An Age Of Entertainment By Neil Postman
Postman s premise is that we are in an age of entertainment, a people on the verge of amusing to death
, and his argument that the medium is the metaphor: each medium, like language itself makes possible
a unique mode of discourse by providing a new orientation for thoughts, for expression, for sensibility.
And as the entertainment on television has become the metaphor for all communication, his premise is
validated.
In the first chapter of his book, Neil Postman first suggests that different cities of America, like
Boston, New York and Chicago, have served as the metaphors for the U.S. at different times in history.
At present (the book was written in 1985), the American culture is best symbolised by Las Vegas,
which is entirely devoted to the idea of entertainment . Postman asserts that at the current time, all
public discourse increasingly takes the form of entertainment which has put us in a position where we
are on the verge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Native Americans were circumscribed to long distance communication through smoke
signals, they could not have had philosophical disussions. The constraints of the form affect what can
be practically communicated through it. An another example refers to President Taft who was a fat
man, one who could not likely be voted today because of his appearance, not appropriate for an
appearance on television. Nevertheless, in a world without television, political arguments had more
legitimacy than appearance, which was not commonly transmitted to the public.
Briefly, Postman wishes to see how the Age of Typography became the Age of Television , and how
the latter requires all communications to take the form of entertainment. It is not merely that
entertainment on the television screen has becomes the metaphor of all discourse; it is that, off the
screen, the same metaphor prevails.

The Problem Of Human Trafficking
Imagine being taken from the comfort of your house and family. Then envision that you are forced to
either inject or ingest as drugs to give sexual pleasure to one person while the other reaps financial
benefits. You are experiencing such atrocity at the same moment in which your loved ones are mourn
your loss. Eventually, you are unrecognizable and affected by traumatizing experiences. The effects
that you frequently feel are numb and now you are suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. This is
the reality that many endure on daily basis. It is caused by the constant practice of human trafficking.
According to the United Nations of Drugs and Crime, Human Trafficking of a Person is the
recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of
force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a
position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of
a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall
include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual
exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal
of organs . Human Trafficking is not something that is new to the world. Infact Human Trafficking has

Persuasive Essay For Dog Park
Dog parks are a staple of urban and suburban areas, a place where dog owners can congregate and
converse about the local gossip, or goings on about the neighborhood. Over the past 12 months, a
group of people have come together to propose allocating land for a dog park in Weston and tensions
are running high.
Surprisingly, the dog park has met with a strong degree of controversy. For the better part of the last
year, there have been multiple hearings involving the dog park. The latest meeting occurred just last
week and there is still no resolution about how to proceed.
Maria Proto, a long time Weston resident started the campaign for the dog park. She has a lot to say.
When I spoke to her last week, she said, One of the benefits that a lot of people don t realize when
they don t go to dog parks regularly is that it is not just socialization for your animals. So that s one of
the benefits for your animals get socialized well and well socialized dogs are usually less aggressive
towards other dogs but is also a way for people to go out and meet each other ... I would love to meet
my fellow Westonites who have dogs. I have also been told by some people that it is very hard to meet
people in our town because there aren t many events in Weston to go to.
While many residents are in support of the formation of the park, there are many people on the other
side. Just ask Bill Theriault. He is worried that if Weston puts money to this dog park it will take
money away for many

Kate Spade Essay
Kate Spade, founded by Kate Spade and Andy Spade on January 1993, is an American fashion design
corporation for clothing, handbags, jewelry, and other accessories. Currently, the organization had
been in a competition with Coach Inc. and Michael Kors since its establishment. However, Kate Spade
demonstrated the key elements of critical thinking necessary to turn risk into opportunities, which
ultimately resulted in organizational success in the fashion industry.
[ I ] Prior to its establishment, from 1986 to 1991, Kate Spade was formerly known as Katherine Noel
Brosnahan before her marriage with Andy Spade, and during this time while working at Mademoiselle
Magazine, she noticed that women s fashion accessories lacked practicality and style. This conclusion
led her to the idea to develop handbags that were fashionable, but ... Show more content on

In 2006, they and their partners sold their remaining 44 percent to Neiman Marcus, an American
luxury department store. This was essential due to the fact that with this action, Kate Spade products
earned its brand name to be associated to high ranking values. Later during this same year, Trudy
Sullivan, president of Liz Claireborne Inc., acquired that share of Kate Spade from Neiman Marcus.
Consequently, a new strategic plan was implemented which served the purpose to expand Kate Spade
with approximately 200 boutique shops both domestically and internationally. This trend is observed
to be a strategic alliance, because multiple organizations, in this case Neiman Marcus and Claireborne
Inc., co operated into a partnership in sense of the goal of pursuing an area of mutual interest. All three
companies are related to fashion design, so the conclusion is that the entrepreneurs of Kate Spade had
the intention to achieve business success through co operation with the right strategic

How Did Technology Affect The Plains Indians
The lives of the Plains Indians have been affected in many ways, such as technological inventions as
well as in political aspects. The Plains Indians have been scammed of their land through government
actions and Americans, due to the technological advances that occurred during the late nineteenth
century. The lives of the Plain Indians were affected by the technological and political advances issued
by the United States Government and the entrepreneurs of the late nineteenth century. One of the first
ways that the lives of the Plains Indians were affected was through technological advances. Three of
the major technological advances that affected the Indians were the railroads, the telegraph, and the
telephone. All of these inventions contributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two main actions that the United States government issued towards the Plains Indians were the
Homestead Act and the Dawes Act. The Homestead Act correlated with the trend of Manifest Destiny
and encouraged settlers to migrate west. The Homestead Act encouraged western migration by
providing 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were
required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land. After
six months of residency, homesteaders also had the option of purchasing the land from the government
for roughly $1.25 per acre. (Primary Documents in American History) The land that the government
was distributing belonged to various tribes of the Plains Indians. By having the Homestead Act in
effect and encouraging settlers to migrate west, Plains Indians were forced into reservations. The real
impact of Manifest Destiny was that it sent many settlers west, without realizing that the settlers were
taking land from the Indians. The Indians that lived in the reservations had just enough food to keep
their population alive, as well as living in unsanitary conditions with bacteria and diseases
everywhere. The two options that the Indians had was to either live in the reservations with little to no
food or to face genocide. Some Indian tribes tried to make amends with American troops who ushered
the natives to reservations, but some American troops turned on the Indians. One incident of the
American troops killing Indians was the Nez Perce war. This war was over a conflict of land and how
some US troops did not agree on the settlement of the land. The war resulted in over 100 casualties
towards the Indians and was stated as a genocide of and Indian tribe. The second act that was passed
by the United States government was the Dawes Act. The Dawes Act authorized the President to

Simplifying Expressions
While working on this problem I learned a lot about basic properties of addition and multiplication,
such as distributive property, inverse property, commutative properties, etc. What s common about
these problems is the order in which we are going to do the steps. The first step will always be to
remove the parenthesis, which uses the distributive property. Second will always be combining like
terms and adding related coefficients what we have been working on this week which is dealing with
real numbers.
Here is the solution to the first problem:
2a(a 5)+ 4(a 5)
=2aa+2a( 5)+4a 4⋅5
=2a^2 10a+4a 20
=2a^2 6a 20
The steps used to simplify this equation are as follows:
First I remove all of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I still have parentheses in the equation, they are only there to emphasize the negative
numbers.
20.05(0.3m+35n) 0.8( 0.09n 22m) =0.05⋅0.3m+0.05⋅35n 0.8⋅( 0.09n) 0.8⋅( 22m)
The second step is to figure out the correct coefficients:
0.05⋅0.3m+0.05⋅35n 0.8⋅( 0.09n) 0.8⋅( 22m)=0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m
The final step is to find the like terms and then combine them to obtain the simplified form:
0.015m+1.75n+0.072n+17.6m=17.615m+1.822n
The expression is now fully simplified to 17.615m+1.822n
In all three problems in this problem set, I learned how to simplify algebraic expressions using
distributive property and commutative property. In the second problem I used the inverse property of
addition. I noticed that the third problem was different from the first and second problems, in that in
the third problem there were no integer numbers. This whole section is about real numbers so this
problem set teaches us how to operate using both integer and non integer real

I Am Living At The Villa Borghese
I am living at the Villa Borghese. There is not a crumb of dirt anywhere, nor a chair misplaced. We are
all alone here and we are dead. Last night Boris discovered that he was lousy. I had to shave his
armpits and even then the itching did not stop. How can one get lousy in a beautiful place like this?
But no matter. We might never have known each other so intimately, Boris and I, had it not been for
the lice. Boris has just given me a summary of his views. He is a weather prophet. The weather will
continue bad, he says. There will be more calamities, more death, more despair. Not the slightest
indication of a change anywhere. The cancer of time is eating us away. Our heroes have killed
themselves, or are killing themselves. The hero, then, is not Time, but Timelessness. We must get in
step, a lock step, toward the prison of death. There is no escape. The weather will not change. It is
now the fall of my second year in Paris. I was sent here for a reason I have not yet been able to
fathom. I have no money, no resources, no hopes. I am the happiest man alive. A year ago, six months
ago, I thought that I was an artist. I no longer think about it, I am. Everything that was literature has
fallen from me. There are no more books to be written, thank God. This then? This is not a book. This
is libel, slander, defamation of character. This is not a book, in the ordinary sense of the word. No, this

Medial Collateral Knee Ligament Sprain With Phase II Rehab
The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is a tough band of tissue that connects the thighbone to the
shinbone. Your MCL is located on the outside of your knee. It prevents your knee from moving too far
inward and helps keep your knee stable. A MCL sprain is an injury caused by stretching the MCL too
far. The injury can involve a tear in the MCL.
CAUSES
This condition may be caused by:
A blow to the inside of your knee (common).
Your knee falling inward when you run, change directions quickly (cut), jump, or pivot.
Repeatedly overstretching the MCL.
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more likely to develop in people who:
Play contact sports, such as wrestling or football.
Participate in sports that involve cutting, like hockey, skiing, or soccer.
Have weak hip and core muscles.
SYMPTOMS
This condition is more likely to develop in people who:
A popping sound at the time of injury.
Pain on the inside of the knee.
Swelling in the knee.
Bruising around the knee.
Tenderness when pressing the inside of the knee.
Feeling unstable when you stand, like your knee will give way.
Difficulty walking on uneven surfaces.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition may be diagnosed based on:

Facial Recognition System
CHAPTER 1 FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM
1.1 INTRODUCTION
A biometrics is, Automated methods of recognizing an individual based on their unique physical or
behavioral characteristics. For example face, fingerprint, signature, voice etc. Face recognition is a
task humans perform remarkably easily and successfully.
In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly
processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a
similar face existing in database else it is unknown.
Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several
practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition
system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human
face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few
years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person.
Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system.
Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify
different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for
identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security
systems in

Makeup Industry Analysis Paper
For the black woman struggling to find the right shade of makeup have no fear! It has always been
very difficult to find shades of foundation that represent the numerous numbers of shades the melanin
filled woman, or man, comes in. The beauty industry is now expanding! Each of these products has
been evaluated first hand by friends, family, top beauty gurus, and me. I will evaluate the price,
product coverage, and color spectrum of each product. The price determines affordability and product
quality. Product coverage tells how much surface area the makeup will cover and how much product is
used to achieve that coverage. The final and perhaps most important quality of a foundation brand is
the color spectrum available. If a brand only limits itself to the skin tones of a light skin African
American or even a tanned Caucasian then that brand is not considered POC, People of Color,

Canada and Quebec s Conflict Essay example
Canada and Quebec s Conflict
Canada and Quebec have always been in conflict from the confederation of 1867 to the Supreme court
judgement on the secession of Quebec in 1998. Quebec faces several challenges in terms of
constitutional relations with the rest of Canada. Quebec is seeking a special status to preserve and
protect its culture and language, while the rest of English speaking Canada accepts the view of
provincial equality. There have been attempts to recognize Quebec s concerns through constitutional
amendments, but these attempts have not lived up to Quebec s expectations and for the most parts
have failed. Quebec has threatened Canada throughout history with separation from Canada. These
threats have not been ignored, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conflict Canada and Quebec s search for sovereignty started in the early days of American
settlement. In the 1800s the united colonies of Canada, Canada east (French speaking) and Canada
west ( English speaking) was in constitutional deadlock. The only way out of this deadlock was to
separate or to bring more colonies into confederation. There was much immigration into both Canada
east and Canada west, these new immigrants were primarily English which added to the problem of
linguistics groups. As Canada east grew in population it remained tied to Canada east by a constitution
that shared power equally between the two. The arrangement was becoming ever more difficult
because of the difference in sizes and political power between the two Canada. English speakers called
for representation by population, in other words, each group of people deserved political power that
was equivalent to its proportion to the population. While the French language survived, it had gone
from majority to minority of the population due to immigration. The confederation agreement of 1867,
which included Nova Scotia and New Brunswick gave both the French and English what they wanted
without resorting to separation. The French people of Canada east had more control over their culture ,
were as close to independence as possible at the time. They also gained freedom from domination of

The Internet And Its Effects On The World
The Internet has grown massively in the last six decades, making it one of the biggest inventions of
humanity so far. I would take it a step further and call it a necessity for todays people since most use it
for a considerable amount of time everyday. Tedious and everyday tasks have been revamped to fit the
digital concept so that anyone can accomplish them from the comfort of their chair. Internet banking, e
commercing, socialising and paying the bills are only a fraction of everyday things you can do online.
Such activities involve sensitive data that need to be relayed securely over the network and this
happens with the help of OpenSSL. OpenSSL has been widely used in the last couple of years but
only recently researchers found a crucial bug in the code which shook the internet community and
made everyone question the stability of open source projects. KEYWORDS SSL; TLS; OpenSSL;

massively evolved over the last century, bringing new services on the table, such as communicating
with people all over the world, ecommercing or generally doing things that would take a lot of time
with the press of just a few buttons. A new world unfolded since tons of information was being shared
on the Internet. That, led to the need for data encryption and it didn t take long for cryptographic
protocols to be created, obfuscating data so that no eavesdropper would be able to see what was being

Cooking Class Teaches More Than Cooking
COOKING CLASS TEACHES MORE THAN COOKING.
Written By Francois Thurston.
I was recently given the privilege of joining the Iramoo community centre s Men s cooking group and
I have to say it was an absolute joy. But what started out as a look into a cooking class, turned out to
be so much more.
The class started with Chef Vito explaining that today they would be making pumpkin soup. The class
is a mixture of different people and though it is a men s class it couldn t be more varied or inclusive
with men of all ages and even caters for men with disabilities. Chef Vito runs the class with sheer
enthusiasm and a passion for cooking that is quite clear as he demonstrates how to carve a whole
pumpkin to the group.
Unlike your average cooking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As can often happen in the kitchen, someone makes a mistake or doesn t do something the way that
they have been instructed. Now I ve been in and seen situations in cooking classes of all varying types
and when you make a mistake, fear is placed inside of you as the head chef gets upset. Not here at
Men s cooking group however, Chef Vito keeps his critiques plain and simple making it not only easy
to understand but you don t fear making another mistake an absolute credit to Chef Vito.
About a quarter of the way through the class a man in a wheel chair comes in and he is put straight to
work. Unlike in other situations where this man may have to wait and sit out, vegetables are placed in
front of him immediately for him to chop, clearly another sign that no one is excluded here.
The pumpkin soup starts coming along really nicely, when suddenly the lovely ladies from the Iramoo
Strollers Walking Group come strolling in. The men stopped what they were doing at once and stood
to attention and greeted the ladies in from their walk. By this stage I confess, coming from a younger
generational background, I am completely blown away by the respect and comradely between
everyone. These men and women, above the requirement of their respective classes, know how to
appreciate and respect one another. Chef Vito offers the ladies some lemons and unlike my age group
all of the men chorused his offer. I am absolutely dumbfounded by the respect

Phaedo Socrates Research Paper
However, Socrates views went beyond these societal barriers by encouraging the practice of open
mindedness. I firmly believe that Socrates is an admirable and inspirational figure to both
philosophers and the people through his use of words throughout the dialogues of Plato.
One of Socrates main argument that changed the way I looked at a particular subject was in the
dialogue, Phaedo which explains that the soul is alive prior to being born and it stays alive long after
you die. This made me contemplate about the afterlife, as I thought when you die theres nothing left,
but Socrates justifies that the soul is immortal. This changed my perception about the meaning of life,
the soul, and what does it means to die. The fear of death is such

I Had Never Felt About The Word As Anything Special
Thankful. I had never really thought of the word as anything special. Before I really experienced the
feeling of being thankful, I did not think of it as being an important feeling; not as important as being

A Rugged, Precise and Accurate New Gravimetry Method for...
Gravimetry is an old technique which has been used for the determination and recovery of gold ever
since its discovery. It is a process that has a minimal room for instrumental error and does not require
standards for any calculation of the unknown that is being analyzed. The determination of gold
besides gravimetry can either be titrimetry or instrumental, but these techniques requires gold
standards for comparison of its results and concerns the determination of gold in small scale or trace
amounts like that of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The demand for gold is rapidly icreasing
world wide and as of today, the standard test for its determination is Fire Assay ASTM E 1335 08 a
method that requires expertise, time, and can lead to a decrease in the sample s amount. In this study,
Gold a rare metal known for its worth, value, and properties such as conductivity, malleability, and

surge of pain that overwhelmed my body, as I looked down at my legs, I saw a sea of orange flames

were burned. This is an example of how most Americans experience home fires. In fact, residential
properties have the most fire related deaths (76.5%), fire injuries (78.0%) and fire dollar loss (55.0%)

fires are burn wounds. Burn wounds can be categorized into three different levels: first degree, second

Security Issues With Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
Abstract The paper discusses security issues with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and
four different approaches proposed to secure DHCP. DHCP assigns network parameters to existing
and new clients. A misconfigured client is a big security breach as the traffic from and to such client
can be intercepted. The two main issues with DHCP are rogue server and Media Access Control
(MAC) address spoofing. The techniques discussed in the paper attempt at solving these problems by
encrypting the plain text send in DHCP, using digital signatures and key exchange algorithms to
maintain data integrity and security.
1. Introduction
Internet grew rapidly over the last few decades. This has led to increase in the size of networks and
number of network devices. The network infrastructure today needs improvement and changes daily,
so adding new devices to network is very essential. The traditional way of assigning network
configuration to clients with the help of a network administrator is difficult. DHCP has now owned the
responsibility to perform this task. DHCP has its security issues because at the time of its development
internet security was not as important as dynamic allocation of the network parameters were [2]. The
major security concern in DHCP is interception of plaintext messages and illegitimate client or server
that compromises the network.
In section 4 of the paper, four different techniques to secure DHCP have been discussed. The first
approach makes use of

The Exodus Of The Old Testament
Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and sense of community to
a group of people who had nothing. According to the Exodus there were a group of slaves who fled
Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed author of the book. These
people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be free from oppression and create
their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this day, but the text was written
around the 1400 B.C. Moses intentions for Exodus were to set laws for his new community to a group
of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of Exodus there are a set of laws for the
new community that pander to push away their old lives to create a new identity in which men can be
equal with one another. The second verse within chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six
years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately
the author set a law that if there are slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates
hope for potential slaves. Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of
any of them being set free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will
release their male slaves. During this era men were dominant while women are treated as property and
evidence can be found in Exodus of this inequality. If his master have given

Should Ionizing Radiation Be Used In Medical Diagnosis
INTRODUCTION
Radiation procedures used to diagnose medical conditions over the past century have grown from a
scientific curiosity to a pervasive, essential part of modern health care. Radiology originated with
ionizing radiation to diagnose human disease, however since discovering the physiological risks
associated with ionizing radiation, such as mutation/cancer, an ongoing controversy arises as to
whether ionizing radiation should be used in medical diagnosis. This investigation will analyze each
end of the argument continuum to determine if ionizing radiation should continue to be used in
medical diagnosis.
BACKGROUND PHYSICS
Ionizing radiation is any type of particle (neutrons, betas or alphas) or electromagnetic wave (gamma
rays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are different types of ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and x rays, which have been
known to cause cancer. Additionally, because x rays can kill living cells, when improperly used they
can cause severe burns, cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. They can speed aging, reduce immunity to
disease, and bring about disastrous changes in the reproductive cells.
Having few procedures employing ionizing radiation throughout your life may seem harmless, but as
the levels of doses increase, your risk of developing cancer rises at the same rate, according to the
LNT model. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of exposure to
ionizing radiation:
CONCLUSION
Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation in
medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various
health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should
continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can
ultimately save

The Burning Of Our House Analysis
There is a definite distinction between American literature written during the Colonial times and
literature written after the colonization of America. Colonial American literature was written by
American authors who were experiencing something completely new and different to them. They had
never been colonists or traitors to their mother country, Great Britain, before and this showed in their
literature. One prominent theme throughout Colonial literature is the importance of God. Puritan
author, Anne Bradstreet, made this apparent in her poem, The Burning of Our House. Instead of
feeling the emotions of anger and sadness due to the fact all of her belongings were destroyed, she
looked at the fire as a sign from God that he was taking his possessions that were rightfully his.
Colonial literature is rich in Puritan voices and, consequently, Puritan beliefs. Persuasive rhetoric is
apparent throughout much of Colonial literature. America was a blank slate for them and colonists
wanted to fill that slate with the government they thought best fit their ideals. Writers were able to

himself/herself an American should read Colonial literature. This writing shows how important

that range from women s place in society to construction of government to the importance of God are
easily identifiable in prose during this time. This shows how diverse and freethinking colonists were.
Colonial writers used writing as a platform to cast their ideas into the limelight. Not only does
Colonial literature provide historical information to us, it provides a small glimpse into the lives of

What Is The Primary Source In Joseph Galloway Speech To...
Before talking about Joseph Galloway s Speech to the Continental Congress, it is necessary for me to
explain in a simpler way what a primary source is. A primary source is a document, an image or an
artifact that provides a direct or firsthand evidence about an event, a person, an object or a work of art.
Hence, historical documents, speeches, published works, autobiographies and so on, are primary
sources.
The Speech to the Continental Congress of 1744 is a discourse made by Joseph Galloway during the
Continental Congress on the 28th September 1744. It is possible to read it on the Journals of the
Continental Congress, 1774 1789: 1774.

Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals
During the late 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche examined the history of morals in his Genealogy of
Morals. In his work, Nietzsche reveals the origin of morality, and he goes further to tear down the
basis of Christianity and Kant s Moral Law to show that there is a plurality of conflicting morals in
society. Max Weber, who was a philosopher greatly influenced by Nietzsche, writes further on the
plurality declaring that there is a polytheism that is the result of many conflicting values. Weber
concludes that there is no science of ethics after Nietzsche, so there is no way to determine the correct
value system. There is currently polytheism and a plurality of values that will not be resolved because
all values are valid despite them conflicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this new polytheism, conflict rages between different gods, and it will go on for all time. It is as it
was in antiquity before the world had been divested of the magic of its gods and demons, only in a
different sense (Science as a Vocation p. 23). The contemporary polytheism is similar to the ancient
one in that it consists of conflict; however, in neo polytheism, the gods are impersonal forces. There is
no magic or personal gods in this new system. There is just conflicting value systems where each
value system is equally valid. This is a difficult reality for people to digest due to the blinding strength
the Christian church has on people. Christianity led people to believe that there was only one way to
live. Any other value system was wrong in the eyes of Christians. People will become more aware that
there is a plurality of value systems, and that each set of values can be considered just as valid as the
next: The destiny of our culture, however, is that we shall once again become more clearly conscious
of this situation after a millennium in which our allegedly or supposedly exclusive reliance on the
glorious pathos of the Christian ethic had blinded us to it (Science as a Vocation p. 24). People will
learn to move away from the ethics laid forth by Christianity and, in the face of polytheism, make

Lincoln and the Abolitionists Essay
LINCOLN AND THE ABOLITIONISTS
History records Abraham Lincoln as the Great Emancipator, yet ardent abolitionists of his day such as
William Lloyd Garrison viewed him with deep suspicion. That the 16th president eventually achieved
the abolitionists most cherished dream, says biographer Allen Guelzo, happened through a curious
combination of political maneuvering, personal conviction, and commitment to constitutional
principle.
One of the ironies of the Civil War era and the end of slavery in the United States has always been that
the man who played the role of the Great Emancipator was so hugely mistrusted and so energetically
vilified by the party of abolition. Abraham Lincoln, whatever his larger reputation as the liberator of

Lincoln s election did not mute abolitionist criticism. His unwillingness to use the outbreak of the
Civil War in the spring of 1861 as a pretext for immediate abolition convinced William Lloyd
Garrison that Lincoln was unwittingly helping to prolong the war, and to render the result more and
more doubtful! If he is 6 feet 4 inches high, he is only a dwarf in mind! Garrison had never really

the issue of noninvolvement in politics, hoped for better from Lincoln, but only seemed to get more

slavery if the southern states attempted no violent withdrawal from the Union, left Douglass with no

After Rhode s time as a prime minister, he went to South Africa in pursuit of riches and gold. He got
his start by renting equipment to miners to pump out the floodwater that had destroyed their claims.
Saving up his money from his business, he bought his own claims which progressed to more, slowly
beginning an incredible monopoly (Raden 36). Over time, more diamonds and diamond mines started
emerging all over South Africa. Rhodes knew that if this continued, diamonds would lose their value
and become worthless. The reason this would be is because the more supply of diamonds that were
available the lower the demand would be on them since there would be such a large quantity. In 1888,
Rhodes found a solution to this problem: if diamonds were not rare then he would just need to
convince the consumers that they are. De Beers did this by controlling not only the price of diamonds
but was also able to control the supply, which impacted the demand for diamond rings (Otens and
Scott 35). By 1890, De Beers owned all the mines in South Africa and only let out diamonds as it
pleased. In 1902, Rhodes died and the new owner became Ernest Oppenheimer (Raden 39).
Oppenheimer had some trouble while he was in leadership from almost losing the company to losing
some of the profit from other competitors. By the 1930s De Beers had complete control over the
diamond industry. As stated from Eugene Fram and Robert Baron DeBeers has been

Ford: Magrathea is a myth! A fairy story! It s what parents tell their kids at night if they want them to

  • 2. E Commerce Engaging With Physical Stores And there are more examples of e commerce engaging with physical stores. Such as, a few months ago, Amazon opened the first physical store in the US. At the same time, Google has opened its Google shop, online furniture retailer Made.com has been opening showrooms to display their products. This has proved the online web and the physical stores are actually beneficial to each other. Methodology This research paper will involve the use of qualitative approach as the main research methodology. This is a common case study method, which provides a clear vision on related implication of the research topic to researcher (Kondracki Wellman, 2002). Besides, the data in this method depends on human experience and this will be more persuasive and powerful than only data gathered via quantitative research. The reason to apply qualitative case study tool in this study due to its flexibility of use and also its ability, which allows the researcher to express their ideas and thoughts in the within context of the research (Maxwell. 2005). The study involves both primary and secondary research in order to have a clear vision on the research question. Secondary data will be collected from Tesco Inc. such as the sales, the number of visiting customers in different period. And the primary data will be conducted in two ways, on site visit and online questionnaire. The methodology being used in this study has also bring up a lot of challenges. • 3. Cause Of Water Erosion In The United States Introduction: Erosion is destruction on the rangeland from wind, water, cattle, and other natural agents. The process where the Earth gets worn down and removes material from the top of the soil. Erosion has been dated back to Plato and Aristotle (Montgomery et al 2007). There are many types of erosion, water erosion, sheet erosion, gravitational erosion, and wind erosion (Zonghu et al 1991). Water erosion is mainly in fields, where rilling would take place (Evan and Morgan 1974). Water erosion usually happens due to the lack of cover on the rangelands, and heavy rainfall will destroy plants, and even move the soil. Wind erosion is the most common type of erosion. One of the greatest problems in the United State is the wind shifting the soil surface (Pierson et al 1961). Livestock such as cattle (Bos taurus) also pose a threat to the landscape. Hart (1949) did a study on dairy farms, and found excessive gully erosion. Land with erosion losses the ability to hold water for the soil (Gifford and Whitehead 1982; Boardman and Mortlock 1993) while also losing key nutrients such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Erosion can hardly be managed, and the best way to help erosion is to not let it happen to begin with. In developing countries, more and more erosion has been discovered due to the lack of knowledge and care for the landscapes (Lal et al 2001). Keeping vegetation on the soil surface as a cover is the major key to keeping erosion away from the landscapes (Herrick and Duniway 2014). Nebraska deals with mainly wind and gully erosion, but in places with a beach, managers and public are starting to see beach erosion, which will actually result in property losses (Fischer et al 1990; Sorenson Dronen Knudsen Jensen 2016). No matter what type of erosion, because of the increase in population of humans, erosion needs to be considered and managed for so that our landscapes will have a fighting ... Ernest Hemingway Fifty Grand Essay DEO RIDHO EVINDRA 180410100004/CLASS A INTRODUCTION TO PROSE Lecture: Ari Jogaiswara Adipurwawidjana FIFTY GRAND This short story is one of the stories in Men Without Women, written by Ernest Hemingway, an American writer. I started to love every Hemingway s short story since I reached this semester especially this short story, which is tells about boxing that is one of my favorite sport. I think Hemingway was a man s man. He wrote everything covered both things that happened in World War I and World War II, he had deep sea stories, he liked to tell about himself, every journey he had done and using I which is refered to his main character of his stories that could make people who never read his stories would think that I, refered to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sounds strange enough to me why did he keep the game on? He could say give up, though. I think Jack pride at stake here. He must decide what is more important, lose his bet or his belt. Maybe that is the reason why he survived so far. Altough we know, in the end Jack made a foul to Walcott and is disqualified. From this quote (which was Jack said): I think I can last. I don t want this bohunk to stop me. He must be thinking about something just to finish this fight before the game ends. No matter how. I think Jack thought so. And take a look at this quote: He (means Jack) certainly did used to make the fellows he fought hate boxing. That was why he hated Richie Lewis so. He never got Richie s goat. Richie Lewis always had about three new dirty things Jack could not do. Jack was as safe as a church all the time he was in there, as long as he was strong. I will underlined this statement: Richie Lewis always had about three new dirty things Jack could not do. That was why he hated him so much. And if we go back to the game between Jack and Walcott. I think he had prepared well for this dirty thing before the gong of the last round rang. He had prepared to do something bad to finish this fight because he told Jerry and John that he knew he could not stand any longer in this match. And perhaps he had made a decision or had knew the good answer about what he had to choose between his belt or his bet. So that was why he made a foul to Walcott and is disqualified. ... When organizations are in the process of changing, an organizational redesign is in the works. The purpose of this assignment is to discuss redesign challenges that Community Health Center of Central Wyoming (CHCCW) faces during its redesign phase of organizational change. Fundamentals of Organizational Redesign Organizational redesign is the process in which changing an organization s informal design is due to shifting dynamics in the organization s environment (Spector, 2013, p. 78). This happens for a variety of reasons, and an organization should strategically consider both the internal and external environment for causes in the dynamic shift. Organizational redesign does not just effect policy and process development, but also the behaviors and norms of the organizational culture. One reason for leaders of an organization to consider an organizational redesign is financial status of the organization. This is the case for CHCCW. CHCCW has been in the process of an organizational redesign for lack of financial sustainability, along with improving the cultural and morale of the organization for the past couple of years. Organizational Redesign Challenges There are many different redesign challenges that organizations must comprehend. By being aware of the potential challenges, leaders can develop a strategic plan to be prepared if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Modigliani Miller L1 Modigliani Miller (1958) The Cost of Capital, Corporation Finance and the Theory of Investment This article mainly discusses the cost of capital, the required return necessary to make a capital budgeting project worthwhile. Cost of capital includes the cost of debt and the cost of equity. Theorist conclude that the cost of capital to the owners of a firm is simply the rate of interest on bonds. In a world without uncertainty the rational approach would be (1) to maximize profits and (2) to maximize market value. Metaphors In An Age Of Entertainment By Neil Postman Postman s premise is that we are in an age of entertainment, a people on the verge of amusing to death , and his argument that the medium is the metaphor: each medium, like language itself makes possible a unique mode of discourse by providing a new orientation for thoughts, for expression, for sensibility. And as the entertainment on television has become the metaphor for all communication, his premise is validated. In the first chapter of his book, Neil Postman first suggests that different cities of America, like Boston, New York and Chicago, have served as the metaphors for the U.S. at different times in history. At present (the book was written in 1985), the American culture is best symbolised by Las Vegas, which is entirely devoted to the idea of entertainment . Nevertheless, in a world without television, political arguments had more legitimacy than appearance, which was not commonly transmitted to the public. Currently, the organization had been in a competition with Coach Inc. and Michael Kors since its establishment. However, Kate Spade demonstrated the key elements of critical thinking necessary to turn risk into opportunities, which ultimately resulted in organizational success in the fashion industry. [ I ] Prior to its establishment, from 1986 to 1991, Kate Spade was formerly known as Katherine Noel Brosnahan before her marriage with Andy Spade, and during this time while working at Mademoiselle Magazine, she noticed that women s fashion accessories lacked practicality and style. The Homestead Act correlated with the trend of Manifest Destiny and encouraged settlers to migrate west. The Homestead Act encouraged western migration by providing 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land. After six months of residency, homesteaders also had the option of purchasing the land from the government for roughly $1.25 per acre. (Primary Documents in American History) The land that the government was distributing belonged to various tribes of the Plains Indians. By having the Homestead Act in effect and encouraging settlers to migrate west, Plains Indians were forced into reservations. The real impact of Manifest Destiny was that it sent many settlers west, without realizing that the settlers were taking land from the Indians. The Indians that lived in the reservations had just enough food to keep their population alive, as well as living in unsanitary conditions with bacteria and diseases everywhere. The two options that the Indians had was to either live in the reservations with little to no food or to face genocide. Some Indian tribes tried to make amends with American troops who ushered the natives to reservations, but some American troops turned on the Indians. One incident of the American troops killing Indians was the Nez Perce war. This war was over a conflict of land and how some US troops did not agree on the settlement of the land. Facial Recognition System CHAPTER 1 FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM 1.1 INTRODUCTION A biometrics is, Automated methods of recognizing an individual based on their unique physical or behavioral characteristics. For example face, fingerprint, signature, voice etc. Face recognition is a task humans perform remarkably easily and successfully. In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a similar face existing in database else it is unknown. Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person. Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system. Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security systems in ... In this study, Gold a rare metal known for its worth, value, and properties such as conductivity, malleability, and high reflective power was determime by proposing a new gravimetric method through gold s reduction by hydroxylamine hydrochloride as an alternative to the standard test method called the fire assay. The researchers based all their calculations using an ISO standard guideline, EURACHEM/GUM. Gold samples with five replicates of approximately 0.2g was carried out by acid digestion using a solution containing 15mL of 35% Hydrochloric acid and 5mL of 69% of nitric acid in the presence of 10mL de ionized 18.2M Ω resistivity water of analytical grade per sample. Just as I was about to open my eyes I sensed a strong surge of pain that overwhelmed my body, as I looked down at my legs, I saw a sea of orange flames devouring my bed sheets. It was in that moment that I realized that my house was on fire, and my legs were burned. This is an example of how most Americans experience home fires. In fact, residential properties have the most fire related deaths (76.5%), fire injuries (78.0%) and fire dollar loss (55.0%) in the United States (United States Fire Administration, 2013). The most popular injuries related to fires are burn wounds. Burn wounds can be categorized into three different levels: first degree, second degree, and third degree burns. As the degree ... • 30. Security Issues With Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Abstract The paper discusses security issues with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and four different approaches proposed to secure DHCP. DHCP assigns network parameters to existing and new clients. A misconfigured client is a big security breach as the traffic from and to such client can be intercepted. The two main issues with DHCP are rogue server and Media Access Control (MAC) address spoofing. The techniques discussed in the paper attempt at solving these problems by encrypting the plain text send in DHCP, using digital signatures and key exchange algorithms to maintain data integrity and security. 1. Introduction Internet grew rapidly over the last few decades. This has led to increase in the size of networks and number of network devices. The network infrastructure today needs improvement and changes daily, so adding new devices to network is very essential. The traditional way of assigning network configuration to clients with the help of a network administrator is difficult. DHCP has now owned the responsibility to perform this task. DHCP has its security issues because at the time of its development internet security was not as important as dynamic allocation of the network parameters were [2]. The major security concern in DHCP is interception of plaintext messages and illegitimate client or server that compromises the network. In section 4 of the paper, four different techniques to secure DHCP have been discussed. The first approach makes use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Exodus Of The Old Testament Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and sense of community to a group of people who had nothing. According to the Exodus there were a group of slaves who fled Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed author of the book. These people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be free from oppression and create their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this day, but the text was written around the 1400 B.C. Moses intentions for Exodus were to set laws for his new community to a group of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of Exodus there are a set of laws for the new community that pander to push away their old lives to create a new identity in which men can be equal with one another. The second verse within chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately the author set a law that if there are slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates hope for potential slaves. Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of any of them being set free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will release their male slaves. During this era men were dominant while women are treated as property and evidence can be found in Exodus of this inequality. If his master have given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Should Ionizing Radiation Be Used In Medical Diagnosis INTRODUCTION Radiation procedures used to diagnose medical conditions over the past century have grown from a scientific curiosity to a pervasive, essential part of modern health care. Radiology originated with ionizing radiation to diagnose human disease, however since discovering the physiological risks associated with ionizing radiation, such as mutation/cancer, an ongoing controversy arises as to whether ionizing radiation should be used in medical diagnosis. This investigation will analyze each end of the argument continuum to determine if ionizing radiation should continue to be used in medical diagnosis. BACKGROUND PHYSICS Ionizing radiation is any type of particle (neutrons, betas or alphas) or electromagnetic wave (gamma rays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are different types of ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and x rays, which have been known to cause cancer. Additionally, because x rays can kill living cells, when improperly used they can cause severe burns, cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. They can speed aging, reduce immunity to disease, and bring about disastrous changes in the reproductive cells. Having few procedures employing ionizing radiation throughout your life may seem harmless, but as the levels of doses increase, your risk of developing cancer rises at the same rate, according to the LNT model. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of exposure to ionizing radiation: CONCLUSION Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation in medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can ultimately save ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. The Burning Of Our House Analysis There is a definite distinction between American literature written during the Colonial times and literature written after the colonization of America. Colonial American literature was written by American authors who were experiencing something completely new and different to them. They had never been colonists or traitors to their mother country, Great Britain, before and this showed in their literature. One prominent theme throughout Colonial literature is the importance of God. Puritan author, Anne Bradstreet, made this apparent in her poem, The Burning of Our House. Instead of feeling the emotions of anger and sadness due to the fact all of her belongings were destroyed, she looked at the fire as a sign from God that he was taking his possessions that were rightfully his. Colonial literature is rich in Puritan voices and, consequently, Puritan beliefs. Persuasive rhetoric is apparent throughout much of Colonial literature. America was a blank slate for them and colonists wanted to fill that slate with the government they thought best fit their ideals. Writers were able to freely ... Before talking about Joseph Galloway s Speech to the Continental Congress, it is necessary for me to explain in a simpler way what a primary source is. A primary source is a document, an image or an artifact that provides a direct or firsthand evidence about an event, a person, an object or a work of art. • 37. Nietzsche s Genealogy Of Morals During the late 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche examined the history of morals in his Genealogy of Morals. In his work, Nietzsche reveals the origin of morality, and he goes further to tear down the basis of Christianity and Kant s Moral Law to show that there is a plurality of conflicting morals in society. Max Weber, who was a philosopher greatly influenced by Nietzsche, writes further on the plurality declaring that there is a polytheism that is the result of many conflicting values. Weber concludes that there is no science of ethics after Nietzsche, so there is no way to determine the correct value system. In this new polytheism, conflict rages between different gods, and it will go on for all time. It is as it was in antiquity before the world had been divested of the magic of its gods and demons, only in a different sense (Science as a Vocation p. 23). The contemporary polytheism is similar to the ancient one in that it consists of conflict; however, in neo polytheism, the gods are impersonal forces. There is no magic or personal gods in this new system. There is just conflicting value systems where each value system is equally valid. This is a difficult reality for people to digest due to the blinding strength the Christian church has on people. Christianity led people to believe that there was only one way to live. Any other value system was wrong in the eyes of Christians. People will become more aware that there is a plurality of value systems, and that each set of values can be considered just as valid as the next: The destiny of our culture, however, is that we shall once again become more clearly conscious of this situation after a millennium in which our allegedly or supposedly exclusive reliance on the glorious pathos of the Christian ethic had blinded us to it (Science as a Vocation p. 24). Lincoln and the Abolitionists Essay LINCOLN AND THE ABOLITIONISTS History records Abraham Lincoln as the Great Emancipator, yet ardent abolitionists of his day such as William Lloyd Garrison viewed him with deep suspicion. That the 16th president eventually achieved the abolitionists most cherished dream, says biographer Allen Guelzo, happened through a curious combination of political maneuvering, personal conviction, and commitment to constitutional principle. One of the ironies of the Civil War era and the end of slavery in the United States has always been that the man who played the role of the Great Emancipator was so hugely mistrusted and so energetically vilified by the party of abolition. After Rhode s time as a prime minister, he went to South Africa in pursuit of riches and gold. He got his start by renting equipment to miners to pump out the floodwater that had destroyed their claims. Saving up his money from his business, he bought his own claims which progressed to more, slowly beginning an incredible monopoly (Raden 36). Over time, more diamonds and diamond mines started emerging all over South Africa. Rhodes knew that if this continued, diamonds would lose their value and become worthless. The reason this would be is because the more supply of diamonds that were available the lower the demand would be on them since there would be such a large quantity. In 1888, Rhodes found a solution to this problem: if diamonds were not rare then he would just need to convince the consumers that they are. De Beers did this by controlling not only the price of diamonds but was also able to control the supply, which impacted the demand for diamond rings (Otens and Scott 35). By 1890, De Beers owned all the mines in South Africa and only let out diamonds as it pleased. In 1902, Rhodes died and the new owner became Ernest Oppenheimer (Raden 39).
