Sex Offenders In Australia Essay
The rate of registered sexual offenders in Australia and internationally has been frequently increasing
over time. Within Victoria, as of December 2011, 4165 offenders had been registered and it is
estimated that by the year 2020, there will be 10,000 registrations by then (Victorian Law Reform
Commission, 2012). Within Australia today there are only a few states which have an established
registry such as Western Australia and The Northern Territory. Other states within Australia such as
New South Wales have indicated that they have been working to establish a registry. Having a sex
offender registry is extremely crucial and beneficial to people in the community as it enables them to
feel protected and constantly informed of the whereabouts of sex offenders within their community.
Community s response to official Sex Offender registers In December 2012 the Western Australian
Legislative Assembly passed the Community Protection Amendment Bill. This bill introduced an
online sex offender register open to the community. The website posts the names and photographs of
the state s most dangerous, recidivist sex offenders (Hinch, 2012). The main ... Show more content on

Sex offenders present a high risk of re offending after being released from prison and Governments
want to try and protect the public from these sex offenders and by releasing certain information to
public about these offenders can assist to increase the safety of communities. One of the most
significant strengths of this policy is that it is the publics right to know about the sex offenders
whereabouts and personal information when living in their community. Having public access to a
register to view this particular information assists to make those individuals of a community to feel
more protected, as there is a sense of security that these individuals are being closely monitored and

Similarities Between Charles And Ray Eames
My Project 3 booklet is Charles and Ray Eames. I chose the first moodboard. It was my favorite one.
Images are big and bleed to the edge of the pages. I liked big letters that break the colums, and I also
liked the grids how they used. For my own project, I wanted to fill the page with a picture, but pictures
have low resolution, so I changed my plan to scale down all the images and wrote the quotation on top
of the images to break the grid like my mood board. I tried to use limited colors, but it was not easy to
make them same colors because the background of the images have different colors. I removed
background of few images, and changed colors. Charles and Ray Eames s works feel like rounded and
heavy, so I chose typeface is ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std(bold) for title. I wanted to use different
typeface for The work of, so I chose InaiMathi. Because the title is san serif, I chose serif Minion Pro
for the imformation. The reason I choose Avant Garde Gothic is rounded and x heigh is high. A head
and body text are ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std. I think I changed a head to different typeface which is
little bit lighter stroke. but It went back to Avant Garde Gothic accidently. I changed size of the paper,

The Inseparable Curtis Brothers In The Outsiders
The Inseparable Curtis Brothers
Is life even possible without parents when you are a teenager? Try raising two younger brothers on top
of that. In S.E. Hinton s book, The Outsiders, Darry Curtis took this duty into his own hands and
tackled it as though he was a father. The Outsiders is a book about a rivalry between the two sides of
town that leads to the death of three kids, two greasers and Soc. Does the sun set on both sides of
town? The main characters in the story, Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis lose their parents in a car
crash and have to adjust to life on their own. The Curtis brothers fear that the state agency will split
them up, but they should not get split because they look out for each other, push each other, and need
each other.
Uniquely, both Darry and Soda focus a lot on Pony s future. In the story, one of the fellow greasers,
Two Bit, says to Ponyboy, You know, the only thing that keeps Darry from bein a Soc is us. (Hinton
126) The boys have to regulate living life on their own which leads to Darry dropping the thought of
college and working instead to help meet his two younger brothers needs. Not to mention that Soda
dropped out of high school to work and help Darry with bills and such. Ponyboy says, Darry was too
smart to be a greaser. (Hinton 126) Darry is not like the other greasers, he was a strong athlete and did
fine in school. Darry would of probably went to college if it was not for the passing of his parents. He
gave up a lot, but he knew he had to watch out for his brothers. Darry became the guardian over the
boys ensuring that the family had reinforcement.
Correspondingly, Darry wants the most suiting life for his brothers even though Ponyboy viewed it as
Darry nagging at him. In the book, Ponyboy says, Darry did care about me, maybe as much as he
cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying too hard to make something of me. ( Hinton 98)
The Curtis brothers were all together again following Pony and Johnny running away. Soda and Darry
go to the hospital to see Pony and Darry actually cries. Ponyboy realizes that Darry does not hate him.
Darry says, Listen, with your brains and grades you could get a scholarship, and we could put you

Why Elephants Are Scared Of Mice
Why Elephants Are Scared of Mice
Thousands of years ago in Africa, elephants roamed the Earth without a single worry. Their immense
size and strength had caused them to develop exaggerated pride, overconfidence and the belief that
they were superior to all other creatures. George in particular, was no exception. He was more
egotistic and arrogant than the entire elephant race combined. George only allowed the others to refer
to himself as Master George and was incredibly irritated when smaller creatures would even glance at
him without proper deference.
Due to physical weakness and miniature size, most field mice had grown completely obedient,
cowardly and feeble in character. Elephants such as George would often bully, hurt or even ... Show

George the elephant was of the opinion that he there was nobody as attractive or intelligent as himself.
For this reason he presumed that it was a waste of time for him to meet other female elephants to build
a family with. Therefore, George s only task was to find water for himself. Pedro on the other hand,
had recently encountered a stunning female mouse who he cared for a great deal. Although he was
challenged to find enough water for two beings, his size was finally an advantage due to the fact that
mice required less water than larger creatures.
After hours of searching for even the smallest bodies of water, Pedro eventually came across a
sizeable puddle. His hard work had payed off; he was ready to return home to provide water to his
partner. However, in order to continue his journey, Pedro needed several gulps of water himself. As
Pedro drank blissfully, he noticed a large silhouette approaching the puddle. He could recognize this
creature anywhere. It was an elephant.
It didn t take George a long time to discover puddles that had not yet dried. George only needed to
stand on his hind legs to see all the bodies of water around. He would then walk towards the pond, and
proceed to use his long trunk to suck up the remaining water. After having used his methods on four
different puddles, George casually strolled in the direction of the fifth. He was about to begin
consuming the water, when he

Perceptual Disorders That Can Disrupt Visual Perception
In the following essay an attempt will be made to look at the different perceptual disorders that can
disrupt visual perception. Efforts will be made to compare (which by definition is the pointing out of
differences and similarities) and it will also attempt to contrast (by pointing out the differences) in a
logical and factual way. To do this, it is important to first define what is (a) meant by Visual perception
and what it is thought to (B)encompass, and the (c) different perceptual disorders that may
consequently lead to a disruption in this visual perception. The following account will culminate in a
factual recording of the effect these disorders may have on the individual and the resulting disruptions
that may occur within visual perception.
(A) Explained as simplistically as possible, Visual perception itself is the ability to interpret one s
surrounding environment by, processing information through the eye to the brain. The eye is a sense
organ which is part of the sensory system which in turn transmits information about one s
environment to the brain.
(B) The eye sees its environment by using light, at first the image of one s environment is perceived as
upside down but their eye changes this image to the correct way around; this process is called
Reception. The image is then transformed from electromagnetic energy to electrochemical energy; this
process is called Transduction. At this point the energy is transmitted along the individual s optic
nerve to

Made in India
Made in India
There are about 65 million scooter owners in India. Families are forced to pile onto scooters, or make
several trips to commute. Clearly, this is not an ideal form of transportation for most people. However,
the low income in India has prohibited individuals from purchasing a vehicle than can cost more than
$10,000. Is India s Tata Motors new four door, four seat, rear engine car for $2,500 a good alternative
plan for transportation in India?
In an article, No, No, No, Don t Follow Us, Thomas L. Friedman, who became the New York Times
foreign affairs columnist in 1995, reporting on international issues like the Middle East conflict, U.S.
domestic politics and foreign policy, and international economics, claims that ... Show more content

There is no question that there is a demand for cheap cars in India and it will be beneficial for their
economy to produce cars to meet that demand. Once the people s car is successful in India, India s
market will grow when they begin exporting to other fast growing markets where a relatively few
percent of people own cars. Soon India will not only be competing at the top of auto industry, but it
will be competing at the top with the innovative People s Car.
The People s Car will also provide reliable, cost efficient transportation to consumers. Tata is planning
to produce 250,000 People s Cars within the first year (Giridharadas). Considering that India s middle
class is almost 300 million, the potential for sales is enormous. Profits will be made, leading to
benefits for both India and Tata Motors. Even if the profit margins are small, the numbers of products
being sold will generate a sufficient amount to make it worthwhile for Tata Motors.
To take Friedman s point of view into consideration, we will consider the fact that cheaper cars will
increase traffic and pollution. Isn t this inevitable? In this fast paced world, everyone wants more. Let
s consider asking Americans to give up their cars for scooters or a bus ride everyday. How many of
them would allow this? Very few. I acknowledge a statement by Andrew Buncombe, a writer for The

Introduction
The Tulsa race riot of 1921 was a dark time in the history of Oklahoma. It all began with a simple
misunderstanding, but had catastrophic consequences. Homes and businesses were destroyed, many
African Americans and whites were killed, and Tulsa had lost its soul. In the beginning Oklahoma was
just a young state, and Tulsa was just a young town, trying to find its place in the world. The discovery

Louis and many communities in between white mobs pursued what can only be described as a reign of
terror against African Americans during the period from 1917 to 1923. As Mr. Patrick stated this was
probably one of the worst if not the worst domestic act violence. Even today people do not have the
knowledge or refuse to believe what happened that day in 1921. The official death toll was 35(Patrick,
1999) but it is believed that many more hundreds were killed, because many bodies were dumped into
the river of coal mines or burned (Patrick, 1999). Here are other numbers that Mr. Patrick writes in his
article, 1500 African American homes destroyed, 600 businesses destroyed, 21 churches, 21
restaurants, 30 stores, 2 movie theaters, a hospital, a bank, a post office, libraries, and schools. It takes
people with an exponential amount of hate in their hearts would be able to do destroy institutions that
exist only for the benefit of mankind. The Statistics prove that Greenwood Avenue was once vibrant
and full of life. Greenwood Avenue not only just provided great economic means for African
Americans, but it was a place where their hopes and dreams came alive. It was where they were free to
prosper after a long history of slavery and discrimination. Lives Changed

Types Of Spina Bifida
Spina Bifida is a birth defect that causes an incomplete closing of the backbone and membranes
around the spinal cord. In early conception of pregnancy, the neural tube forms and by the 28th day of
conception, it is supposed to close. However, in babies with spina bifida the neural tube does not
close. There are three common types of spina bifida. They are spina bifida occulta, meingocele, and
myelomeningocele. Occulta usually has mild signs like dimple, dark spot, or hairy patch. Meningocele
is a sac of fluid at the gap of the spine. Myelomeningocele is the severest form causing motor
impairments, bladder or bowel control problems, latex allergy, or learning problems.
About 1,500 babies are born each year with spina bifida. Women of Hispanic decent have the highest
rates of having children with spina bifida. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pregnant women should not sit in saunas or hot tubs since this could increase the chance of having a
baby with Spina Bifida.

The Government And Environmental Policy Essay
The Government and Environmental Policy
The purpose of the United States public policy law is to implement restrictions in an effort to solve
problems, which can be seen with the Clean Water Act.
Public policy has also been employed to reform the Endangered Species Act of
1973. Although the United States government is noble in it s efforts to preserve the environment
through these acts, the internal structure of public policy often retards these acts effectiveness. This
paper will explore the many ways in which factors such as horizontal implementation, divided
government, and other forms of public policy affect the environmental legislation involved with the
aforementioned acts. The main factors involved with the Endangered
Species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And, of course, workset like incentives such as taxes, fees, allowances, refunds, and liability are used
to enforce the laws effectively.
Horizontal implementation refers specifically to implementation with the federal government, as
opposed to vertical implementation which is at the state and local levels. There are several specific
concerns with horizontal implementation which include the breakdown of coordination due to the
large structure of the federal government, language difficulties, lack of control due to the threat of
success by one particular agency, different perspectives, and direct change of intention due to factors
such as voter pressure. It s amazing that in the midst of all this that anything can be accomplished at
all, but thanks to the drive to be re elected, things have to get done on the federal level or else the
person in question will be renounced from power.
So now that a foundation of the processes controlling these acts has been established, the question
arises, what exactly is the Endangered Species Act?
As one author puts it, quot; The Endangered Species Act of 1973, perhaps more than any other
environmental law, dares to draw an unwavering line in the path of
American progress. It boldly says in essence, Thou shalt not cause any species of plant or animal to go
extinct. As the rampart transformation of natural America for exurban development, water division
projects, and timber cutting pushes

Light And Colour In The Starry Night
Light and Colour Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night
The Starry Night is an oil on canvas painting by the Dutch post impressionist painter Vincent van
Gogh. Painted in June, 1889, it depicts the view (with the notable addition of an idealized village)
from the east facing window of his asylum room at Saint Rémy de Provence, just before sunrise. The
dominating colour palette in the painting is dark blue and black hues oppose the bright whites and the
yellows in the sky. The size of the painting is 29 in. by 36 ¼ in. The current location of the painting is
in the galleries of Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

from Arles,
It often seems to me that the night is even more richly coloured than the day, coloured with the most

have a pink, green, forget me not blue glow. And without labouring the point, it s clear to paint a starry
sky it s not nearly enough to put white spots on blue black. (678, 14 September 1888)
Van Gogh discovered new colours everywhere, especially at night. Peripatetically, this show explores
his special relationship with darkness. It provides a view of the tenderness, urgency and brilliance at

Ronald Reagan s Domestic and Foreign Affairs Essay
I have decided to write my research paper on the topic of Ronald Reagan s Domestic and Foreign
Affairs. The reason that I choose this topic was because I have always been personally interested in
Ronald Reagan s time in office and the national crisis he had to deal with. Reagan was awesome when
it came to foreign policy because he knew how to negotiate with foreign leaders and their countries to
get what he wanted. There were several instances during his time in office that he had the chance to
use his ability to get the country out of danger. Domestic Affairs is another part of Reagan s
presidency that was very important. He was able to take the country, which seemed to be in an
economic slump and turn their economic status around. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This economic expansion and boost would occur through citizens who would spend the extra tax
money on products and services in their geographical region or who would invest money into
businesses in their area. The only problem for the government using this theory would be the initial
revenues that the government would lose from the tax cuts. In theory the economic growth would
eventually increase taxable incomes, this increase in taxable incomes should cause the governmental
revenues to grow in the long run. With the idea of Reaganomics in mind President Reagan persuaded
Congress to pass the Economic Recovery Tax Act, which is the first major step in his plan. This Tax
Act called for a 25 percent tax cut that was implemented over a three year period (David Mervin,
1990, 133 7). The only problem with this tax cut is the fact that it mainly benefited the upper income
taxpayers and large corporations. The reason that these groups were targeted is because there is more
of a chance that they will invest their money in business programs that will promote economic growth.
After this tax cut took effect the American people in the lower income tax brackets were not pleased
with the results. They seemed to be faced with an increase in their tax rates even though most of them
were in the income categories below the national average. On the other end of the spectrum the people
that were in the upper tax brackets were experiencing significant tax cuts. The

Tom Sawyer Obstacles
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain tells the adventures of a young boy, Tom. In this
classic there are several obstacles and situations that are not commonly known to be a norm in the
lives of young boys. Thomas Sawyer, an orphan, lives with his Aunt Polly and his siblings Sid and
Mary in the quiet town of St. Petersburg, Missouri. Like any typical mischievous and curious boy with
a mind of his own, he often gets into trouble. On a Saturday after fighting with a boy and getting
himself dirty his aunt punishes him by making him whitewash his fence. Being the cunning boy that
he is however, Tom was able to dodge doing this duty by making his task seem like a blessing to his
peers and tricks them into whitewashing instead. In the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Throughout the book he is forced to make critical decisions, turning from his boyish lifestyle and
building maturity. And although he can be a great handful, he remains using his intelligence to get
himself out of difficult situations and has a soft side, despite the fact that he doesn t love showing it.
Huckleberry Finn is also an important character in the classic; He s admired by much of his peers due
to his freedom to anything he wants. Being the town drunkard s son, he doesn t have to go to school,
take a shower, smokes, and has the free will to curse. But although he was an idol to his peers, he
gained much disapproval from most adults in his town. Yet their aspects change when he becomes rich
from his treasure and becomes a treasure to his town. Another essential character is Injun Joe, the
main antagonist of the novel. This persistent and violent man causes much drama and mystery in the
novel by always seeking revenge upon those who do him wrong. Attempting to hide his treasure and
escape his town, Joe is constantly on a wild goose chase. However, his chase comes to an end when
karma comes knocking on his door and makes him starve to death in a cave and lose his treasure. The
major conflict in Tom Sawyer is when Tom and Huck witness the death young Dr. Robinson by Injun

Sibling Relationships And Family Relationships
Over time the relationships you have with your siblings change, you can start out not liking each other
and then in later life being to love or tolerate each other ( Brothers, Sisters and Aging Parents , 2014).
Late adulthood is defined as being over the age of sixty five (Later Adulthood, n.d.). The sibling
relationships is forced relationships that are maintained by the siblings to foster a lifelong relationship
(Martin, Anderson, Rocca, 2005). Siblings play very different roles for each other, friend, competitor,
manager, and teacher (as cited in Martin et al., 2005). Sibling relationships can be of three different
types: Brother and brother, sister and sister, and brother and sister, all three will be discussed. Brother
and Brother relationships out of the three types seem to have the least amount of telephone contact of
all the types (Spitze Trent, 2006). Tend to help each other more with giving help to each other than
receiving help from each other, brothers tend to help with giving advice over helping each other with
transportation (Spitze Trent, 2006). Brothers would rather receive help with child care then be the
brother providing the child care (Spitze Trent, 2006). Brother relationships tend to be completive with
each other trying to outdo each other. Brothers tend to visit each other about three times a month
(Spitze Trent, 2006). Brothers tend to help each other with repairs more than any other sibling type
(Spitze Trent, 2006). Sister and

Chemistry, Gas Lasers And The Co2
Both physicists and chemists have investigated the CO2 anion extensively over the past few decades
because of its importance in atmospheric chemistry, gas lasers, and a multitude of different industrial
applications. It has been observed in a variety of experimental processes such as electron collisions
and high energy applications. As is well known, electrons cannot permanently attach to the CO2
molecule; as such, all CO¬2 anion states are inherently metastable and have finite lifetimes. Despite
the many studies, both experimental and theoretical, there are still a number of unanswered questions,
especially concerning the relationship between short lived and long lived temporary anion states.
Direct electron attachment to the CO2 molecule produces only short lived anion states with lifetimes
in the femtosecond range. These short lived species consist most importantly of the low lying anionic
states 2Πu and 2Σg+ 1 6. They are the main contributor to the electron scattering from neutral CO2.
The 2Σg+ virtual state is responsible for the zero energy peak in scattering experiments with energies
for electron scattering below 1eV, while the 2Πu resonance state can be attributed to the observed
peak in scattering cross sections at about 3.8eV. Long lived CO2 anion states on the other hand, have
been observed with lifetimes in the microsecond, even millisecond range7,8. They can be produced in
processes such as double electron attachment to CO2+ ions9,10, sputtering techniques11,

Media Influence On Muslims
In today s society, news and media have a great influence in how we see individuals and groups within
the United States and even globally. One example is how many news outlets are portraying Muslims.
They are often described as anti gay, anti female, anti human rights, barbaric, uncivilized, etc. By
describing the Muslim community in such harsh terms the media is allowing Muslims to become
Others and monsters. While terrorism is a huge and scary issue facing this world, we can t fully blame
all Muslims for this. However, with the way the media is describing Muslim communities it can
almost be easier to view them as monsters and the sole proprietors of terror. Another example may be
the 2016 election. The candidacy of Donald Trump was met

The presence of acute coronary syndrome in some patients served to increase lipid output, making it
difficult to clearly determine lipid disorders in some patients. This is an issue of concern because high
lipid levels are a hallmark for the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome. Hypothesis/Research Question A
careful review of the information provided by the authors demonstrates that a definitive hypothesis or
research question is not directly stated in the investigation. Rather, at the conclusion of the
introduction/literature review, the authors note that For these reasons, this study was conducted to
examine the incidence of metabolic syndrome in CABG patients and to determine if metabolic
syndrome and/or the patient s sex affect clinical outcomes in the perioperative setting (p. 469). Based
on the direction of the literature review and previous studies reviewed by the authors, the reader can
imply that the research questions seek to determine the impact of CABG on patients with metabolic
syndrome and the hypothesis is that gender will have some impact on the specific outcomes which
result for patients in this particular group. Operational Definitions/Definition of Terms Operational

Medical Marijuana Research Papers
Working With What They Know Many things that were thought to be dangerous in the past are now
things that are seen or used everyday. One of these things was tomatoes. Tomatoes were once thought
to be very deadly. People avoided them at all cost because they thought these fruits could kill you.
These people believed that tomatoes were poisonous for many years. After eliminating tomatoes from
their diets, it was observed that people were still being killed by what people thought they were not
ingesting. After this conclusion, people decided to investigate these common plants further. It was
discovered that the tomato itself was not poisonous, but the cutlery that was used by the people was.

Many of the arguments that are opposed to medical marijuana consist of ill advised comments that
have not been properly researched. One objection is that tetrahydrocannabinol, a chemical found in
marijuana, is the chemical that makes people high . It is true that this chemical has some unwanted
side effects, however, cannabidiol does not (Abuse). With the research people have done, cannabidiol
is even known to do more than tetrahydrocannabinol can. Another concern that has been brought to
light is that certain patients undergoing medical marijuana treatments could have dealt with an
addiction problem in the past and therefore take advantage of the medication given to them. To
counter this argument, most of the hospitals in the states that have approved medical marijuana as a
reliable treatment, issue patient identification to each patient (Marijuana). Medical Marijuana may
also be used to treat patients that struggle with former addictions. Many people also argue that there
are many other different treatments for pain, nausea, and vomiting. This is true, however, with the
proper research, marijuana could be used as a potential cure for cancer as well

How Logical is the Essay
Regarding to the essay question Is Hell exothermic or endothermic, though the answer that the student
gave was not exactly logical per se, but was certainly well deserved for the grade that he got due to his
creative and innovative way of thinking.
First, the question itself was based on the premise that Hell does exist, which we know most of the
scientists do not agree, as well as the existence of Heaven and God/gods. And since Hell is not to be
found in a place where we can probe, and no one has ever been there and came back, nobody can tell
for sure how does Hell functions . Thus we know that the intension of this question was not actually to

Greed And Obitivity
In a society with too much greed and possessions can lead the world that is inhumane. People are
never satisfied with what they currently have, they always desire for more or better than this or that
person. Throughout history and literature, greed is a classic topic in human development that naturally
affects many of our decisions. Of Course, people would agree that increase of possessions is a way to
motivate us in order to reach a certain height of success. Greed doesn t mean you have a sin, it s just
how the world works. There is an old saying, If you want something, work for it. Greed doesn t mean
selfish, people just want to work toward their goals and increase their status in a cruel society that is
full of judgemental people. Without greediness in our life, it would be like plain bread, without the
peanut butter or the jam. One particular person in history that is well known for his ambitious action
and power hungry was Hitler. Hitler used many of his tactics for people to vote for him motivational
speech and make Germany better, this way people can follow Hitler. Once Hitler had abundance
followers, he wanted to dictate people live and used violence against people who disobeyed his orders.

A propeller that was commonly used on the boats was the simplest two appendaged dorsal placed in
the above the water. This propeller s was long in height and shorter in width. Another frequent dorsal
was the propeller placed under water with some sort of cage to keep it stable. This propeller had a very
short diameter and a larger width compared to the first propeller. Also, the appendages were curved in
order for the water to be caught and thrust through the propeller. Efficiency is the ratio of work out
over work in. In electrical systems, electrical forces are applied in order to charge objects and
essentially move them. In this project s case the work in is the rotating motor, and the work out is the
force of the propeller. Every student had the same work in, but different work outs due to the different
propeller sizes and types. The work in was the same because each one was given the same type of
motor. It was supplied by two double A batteries and produced very little force to work with, but in the

Biomes are the Communities of the World
Biomes are all over the world, that s why they are considered the world s major communities. Biomes
are large areas scattered around the earth, filled with animals and plants acclimating to their
environments. You can classify biomes in many different ways, by their climate, their biodiversity,
human activity, their animals and plants, and their habitats. There are only five conspicuous types of
biomes, Grassland, Tundra, Desert, Aquatic, and forest. Without biomes, the earth would be
unbalanced. Throughout the years, we have cause a lot of damage towards our earth, such as causing
pollution, and abolishing natural habitats. If we continue living like this, there might be more serious
or severe implications on the biomes. Knowing that we share the world with so many other species of
plants and animals, we should consider the consequences of our actions. The Aquatic biome is the
most significant out of all of the five biomes. Water is essential and important for life here on Earth. It
s what we all need in order to survive. Water also supports life, and many different species live in it, or
for some parts of their life. Since water covers one thirds of the Earth, the temperature of the aquatic
biome tends to be humid and slightly cool. It is fairly constant so it can be able to tolerate life. This
region is filled with so many different species of animals some big and some even small. The Aquatic
biome is broken into two regions freshwater and marine

Dramatic Irony In The Cask Of Amontillado
In the Cask of Amontillado a short story by Edgar Allen Poe the protagonist of the story, Montresor, is
a very clever man. For instance, the story is told from Montresor s point of view and it begins with
Montresor talking about how he s going to get revenge on his friend, Fortunato. The thousand injuries
of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge...I
continued, as my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the
thought of his immolation. Here Poe uses dramatic irony to show the readers that Montresor is
devising a plan to get revenge on Fortunato, and Fortunato isn t aware of what Montresor is planning.
Montresor then coincidentally sees Fortunato at Carnival. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

drink, he said, to the buried that repose around us. And I to your long life. He again took my arm, and

numerous family. I forget your code of arms. A huge human foot d or, in a field azure; the foot crushes
a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel. And the motto? Nemo me impune lacessit.
The author uses more irony when Montresor toasts to Fortunato s long life but the readers know
Montresor is going to get revenge on Fortunato, and Montresor does not really mean what he s saying.
Then they discuss the Montresor code of arms and the motto. The motto means Nobody provokes me
with impunity. This tells the readers why Montresor has to get his revenge. In fact, Montresor was

The pizza industry is the number one meal choice for Americans. In fact, it is consumed so frequently,
that in the United States people, on average, consume 100 acres of pizza every day. The Industry is
mainly classified into two different sections, pizza chains and independent pizzerias. The top four
businesses in this industry are Pizza Hut, Domino s, Papa John s, and Little Casers, respectively. In
fact they account for 32 percent of the industry sales (Thompson, C 42). The pizza owners not only
compete with each other, but there is a new entrant to the industry, the frozen pizza. Furthermore, the
industry typically has four options of service for their customers. These include the dine in option,
delivery option, carry out option, and take n bake option. Most pizzerias position their stores in
convenient areas for their customers. The customer segment that holds 46.3 percent of the pizza
industry is people that are 25 to 44 years of age. It is believe that this is due to a majority of these
customers having children and needing quick meal options for their family. The overall performance

Character Analysis Of Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Throughout the film Mr. Smith Goes to Washington the main character, Mr. Smith, shows his

politicians in the film seem to be the exact opposite of Mr. Smith because they forget that everything

Smith as well as the other politicians, which could be improved.
The story begins with a man named Sam Folley dying, a senator that had to be replaced. This troubled

Materialism In Henry David Thoreau
I, Henry David Thoreau, have found myself aggrieved upon your article, Pond Scum, that questions
my beliefs of nature and my way of life. You have proclaimed statements that do not fit me so, such as
being sanctimonious, hypocritical, and misanthropic; for those reasons, you think I should not be as
admired as I am today. However, I refuse to subject to those claims because my teachings and beliefs
are all in the name of the divinity of nature. There is much more to this world than our materialistic
values and complex lifestyle, and if we were just able to open our eyes and look deep within, then you
as well shall be able to understand my teachings. You first accuse me of being sanctimonious, that I
am superior and holier than everyone else in this world. Before criticizing my political philosophies,
you include my quote about the prophet, It seems as if I were more favored by the gods ...in
possession of revealed truth and entitled to enlighten others. Thoreau, comfortable with that posture,
sneered at those who were not (7). It is true that I see myself peculiar from everyone else, but I am not
as egotistical as you may think. Claiming existence in the universe is not disgraceful, it should be
valued. Every person should be allowed to think for themselves, to follow their intuition, and seek
what they think is right without the insight from others. We should be allowed to trust our gut because

Challenging Relationship Between English And Canadians In...
The Challenging Relationship between English and French Canadians in the 20th Century Due to
various historical factors, Canada is today considered an officially bilingual country. This means that
both English and French are considered the official languages of Canada. As a result of this policy, all
official documents and government services must be available in both English and French for all
Canadians. This all sounds very positive on the surface, but in reality, the relationship between English

that have arisen due to these relations, have threatened the very unity and survival of the country. This
divide is evident in all facets of life, whether it was political, economic, military, business and even in
sports. This paper will examine the tensions between English and French Canada throughout the 20th
century. It is important to first briefly examine the history and origins of Canada as a country, before
we can truly appreciate this divide between the English and the French. It was during the 1500s when
the first explorers from Europe discovered North America. This newly discovered land was rich in
natural resources hence many Europeans began to settle. The majority of these settlers were from
Britain and France. The French and English fought for power, control and territory, eventually leading

What are some of the weaknesses?
I believe the strength of Davilly and Cotton was that they took the time to define and try to show the
differences between Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. As
well as defining what psychology debriefing entails.
Their weakness would be it was how to read, it did not flow easy for the readers and somewhat
confusing. Also another weakness which was pointed out by Mitchell was that they did not seem to do
much deep research for other papers written on the topic.
5. How credible were the authors of each argument? Explain your answer.
Davilly Cotton when to detail on what psychological debriefing was and how there are many different
forms of it with: Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. Also
how these two really kind of play hand in hand and might be the same thing. Therefore it is hard to tell
the difference between the two. They tried to break down how these two systems work and the
outcomes of such programs.

Flat Tax Vs. Flat Rate Structure
What is a flat tax? Flat tax or flat rate structure is an income tax system where everyone pays the same
tax percentage rate regardless of their income. A flat tax applies the same tax rate to all taxpayers, with
no deductions or exemptions allowed.
Simplicity is a benefit of the flat tax system. One rate makes it easy to calculate taxes. It is easier to
understand and report flat taxes, because it taxes only one income. The flat tax gets rid of double
taxation on savings and dividends, because families are not required to report dividends, interest and
other business related income, which is taxed at the business level. A flat tax employs territorial
taxation and eliminates global taxation. A flat tax promotes fairness, because no matter how much
money one makes they would pay the same percentage of taxes. Therefore, this tax system does not
discriminate based on income.
There are also some ways the flat tax system does not benefit taxpayers. It penalizes the low income
population because we all rich and poor have to spend money on the same things, such as food,
housing and clothing. People with lower income would have less to spend on these things with a flat
tax. A flat tax would benefit only the rich, because they would have more money left. It eliminates a
back up revenue source for the government, because the government relies heavily on revenue
generated from income taxes.
It is liked because it seems fairer to everyone. It carries the same percentage of tax across

Taking a Look at Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt is one of the most famous First Ladies in history. Although she was awkward and
shy as a child, she married Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and became an influential figure to the world
as well as an inspiration to women everywhere in her own right. Eleanor was more than a president s
wife; she was an eloquent speaker, delegate of the United Nations, and overall an independent woman.
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. She grew up with a wealthy
family in the Manhattan boroughs. She was the sister of two younger brothers: Elliott Jr. and Hall. Her
parents, Elliott and Ann, were socialites at the top of New York s society. Although her parents were
wealthy, it did not buy them their happiness. Before Eleanor was five, her father broke his ankle while
doing somersaults for the county circus. To reduce the pain of his injury, Elliott began drinking more
heavily. Because of Elliott s moodiness and depression, he set out to find a cure for himself. This
separated him from all of his children, including Eleanor. Without Eleanor s father with her, she
became discouraged. Her only wish was to make her father happy. Not only was Eleanor upset over
Elliott leaving; Anna was as well. Anna was furious with his decisions and started to neglect her
children. Eleanor s education was disregarded, so her mother hired her a tutor. While this was
occurring, Anna was diagnosed with an unknown illness. A few weeks after Ann had surgery, she died

Copper Reaction Lab Report
AP Chemistry

Round Trip Copper Reactions Lab
The purpose of this lab was to evaluate our skills of decanting a supernatant liquid without losing the
solid and successful completion of a series of reactions. This was done through five chemical reactions
involving copper. In this lab, elemental copper was put through five different chemical reactions in
order to convert it into different compounds. By the end of the fifth reaction, the copper was back to
its elemental state. In the first reaction, 0.95 g of pure copper was reacted with 4.0 mL of concentrated
nitric acid under the fume hood. The solution was swirled until all of the copper had dissolved. The
balanced equation for this reaction is as follows:
Cu (s) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black precipitate was allowed to settle and then the supernatant, the clear liquid that lies above a
precipitate, was decanted, or poured carefully off. Then, 200 mL of hot distilled water was added and
the precipitate was allowed to settle to repeat the decanting process again. In the fourth reaction, 15
mL of 6.0 M sulfuric acid was added to the copper (II) oxide while stirring. The balanced equation for
this reaction is as follows:
CuO (s) + H2SO4 (aq) à CuSO4 (aq) + H2O (l) + SO2 (g)
When the sulfuric acid was added to copper (II) oxide, the solution turned blue. This was due to the
formation of aqueous copper (II) sulfate, which produced the copper ions to change the color of the
solution. In the fifth reaction, 2.29 g of zinc was added to the copper (II) sulfate solution under the
fume hood. The balanced equation for this reaction is written as followed:
Zn (s) + CuSO4 (aq) à ZnSO4 (aq) + Cu (s)
When the zinc was added to the copper (II) sulfate solution, the solution started to bubble. As the
solution was stirred, it turned a cloudy blue. Small flecks of a brown solid were visible. As the
solution became colorless, the brown solid settled to the bottom of the beaker. The solid formed was
copper in its elemental state. The color faded from the solution as the copper ions slowly formed into
solid copper. The copper was poured into a funnel with filter paper and washed three times with 25

Persuasive Essay On The Use Of Cheating In Sports
Sport is a global phenomenon, it is a common between all the nations of the world there is not one
culture that has not engaged in a way or another in some type of sporting activity; such activities are
not only often physically challenging and mentally stimulating they also provide a sense of belonging
and personal meaning to people s lives. In American culture like many other cultures worldwide
winning is highly prized and cherished by fame and money from audiences and sponsors.
The dream of some become the dream of many, athletes and people in general are looking for ways to
achieve their ambitions without caring about the results. Now we often hear the word Steroids mostly
in national TV and radio stations in news related to scandals, athletes are using it to enhance and
maximize their performance,
The term steroid is newest version of what was also known as doping in the Olympic, it could be
defined as synthetic hormones, which boosts the body s ability to produce muscle as well as prevent
muscle breakdown. In old Athletic events sports people have tried multiple medicines in order to push
their physical abilities to the limit. As an example athletes would inject themselves before any
competition; this has proven that the use of illegal methods to win in sports is not new or unusual.
Though, nowadays it s widely spread in sports only, Steroids was first developed in Germany in the
1930s, the main reason behind inventing such a drug was to intensify the force of their soldiers;
Germans have noticed that their army s endurance increased in the battlefield.
Steroids have first known its way to sports trough the 1952 s Olympics. In Muscular Strength sports
Soviet Union and other European countries were taking a significant lead over athletes from other
nations including the U.S. At the time, the Olympic U.S team physicians doubted the success of the
Union Soviet sportsmen, as it was their first participation ever in the Olympics Games and they were
the closest rival to the U.S team which was dominating at the time (Union Soviet defeated America in
the following Games). American physicians were investigating this unexpected good performance of
the European athletes generally and Soviets specifically.

Examples Of Sapir Whorf Hypothesis
Sapir Whorf hypothesis
Zainab Saleem Khan
Section K
It is often thought that the reality that is being expressed in spoken word is the very same as the reality
which is being perceived in thought. Perception and expression are frequently understood to be
synonymous and it is assumed that our speech is mostly based on our thoughts. This idea presumes
that what one says is dependent of how it is encoded and decoded in the mind. (Badhesha, 2002) In
any case, there are numerous individuals that trust the inverse: what one sees is reliant on the talked
word. The supporters of this thought trust that thinking is reliant on language. Linguistic Edward Sapir
and his understudy Benjamin Lee Whorf are known as far as concerns them in the promotion of this
very guideline. Their aggregate hypothesis, known as the Sapir Whorf Hypothesis, also known as
theory of linguistic relativity, relativism, determinism, Whorfian hypothesis or even Whorfianism.
Initially talked about by Sapir in 1929, the speculation got to be prominent in the 1950s after post
mortem production of Whorf s works on the subject. After incredible assault ... Show more content on

For instance, in weak determinism language does not define or does not impact one s view of the
world, whereas, in strong determinism this view is defined strongly by language. Linguistic
determinism is the idea that language and its structures limit and determine human knowledge or
thought, as well as thought processes such as categorization, memory, and perception. The possibility
of linguistic determinism has been explored by a variety of authors, mostly in science fiction. There
exist some languages, like Ithkuil and Toki Pona for instance, which have been constructed for the
purpose of testing the assumption. However, no formal tests appear to have been

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Leadership
The first step to analyzing my personal leadership practices is to evaluate my strengths and
weaknesses as a leader. One of the tools used to evaluate my leadership profile is the Seven Habits
Profile, attached to this analysis.
After completing this Seven Habits profile, some of the leadership strengths and weaknesses I knew I
possessed were reinforced with the results of this survey. Scoring highest, were my strengths of
putting first things first and sharpening the saw. These two strengths were followed closely by a third
place tie of being in tune with my emotional bank account and ability to be proactive. Scoring lowest
were my two greatest weaknesses, which are seeking first to understand and life balance. Tied in third
place as weaknesses are thinking win win and synergize.
One of my highest scoring strengths is my ability to put first things first. This came to me as no
surprise, as I see this dominant characteristic in almost every aspect of my life. Whether professionally
or personally, my ability to see what needs to get done coupled with my drive to cross things off my to
do list has been a strength of mine as far back as I can remember. My personality is inclined to work
first, play later. I tend to enjoy work and personal life at a greater capacity when I know there are no
pressing matters to tend to.
Another strength identified in the Seven Habits Profile is my ability to sharpen the saw. Personal
growth in all aspects, including spiritual, physical, mental

Donald Trump Visual Analysis
Like, baby, baby, baby, oh I thought a Mexican wall would be fine, fine. As presidential elections
rapidly approaching, media s coverage of the political candidates has multiplied in the television
news, radio, and magazines. Comically, Media s craze over Donald Trump is portrayed in many
illustrations and cartoons to visually see the political disturbances between the media and the
republican party. Daryl Cagle, a political cartoonist, argues in his visual address, Trump The Media
and Republicans , on the nonstopping attention surrounding Donald Trump and the lack of attention to
the urgent needs. Daryl Cagle published this political cartoon on Cagle Post, a website that covers
current political issues in a comical way, on August 8, 2015, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The fuming elephant in a black suit behind the media is a political representation of the republican
party and their growing frustration for unfair treatment as far as garnering media attention. The
placement of Donald Trump directly oppose to the republican party reveals that Trump is not an
acceptable Republican candidate as symbolized by him being on the opposite side of the elephant.
Furthermore, in the cartoon, the color choice also convey a symbolic message to the viewers. For
instance, the color light violet represents inferiority and insignificance (Colour Affect). the elephant is
illustrated light violet as almost as he is bruised to show how he is unable to captivate the media s
attention. The color yellow like the taxicab dominates the picture to grab the attention of the viewers
and to reveal the center of the issue, which in this case is the media. Symbols are used to questions the
media s ethical stand and Donald Trump s political approach. Why is the media focused too much on
Trump s sensational tenets instead of questioning his economic plans and policies? The elephant s
displeasure and the media s excessive coverages unrelated to politics symbolize the political tension
and the media s ethical downfall. Rather than inquiring Trump about his future plans, the mass media
is more interested in Donald Trump disrespectful and misogynistic remarks. The media s improper
actions represent their loss of moral integrity and their crave for more controversial statements. In
Hindu culture, the sun symbolizes knowledge, truth, influence, and stability (Hinduwebsite). With this
in mind, the yellow curved text bubble around the mass media resembles the sun, which implies that
the media is a huge influence on the American people and that they provide

Bedroom Remediation Report
Ms. Eskridge, a second grade teacher at City County Elementary School, who has a history of being a
quality teacher (received teacher of the year award and runner up for the county). She is also the coach
for the girls volleyball team. This year she has received three reprimands from the administration
discussing her disregard of the directives for various holiday activities: 1) display of scary decorations
for Halloween, 2) prayer like activity by reflecting upon what students are thankful for prior to
Thanksgiving, 3) stating there is no Santa Claus within earshot of students. Two of the reprimands
were a result of parent complaints, one regarding teaching religion/prayer in the classroom and the
other regarding the Santa Claus incident. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eskridge and Rex Terwilliger, the principal sent a statement declaring Ms. Eskridge on administrative
leave via email. According to O.C.G.A. 20 2 940, only the superintendent or the board (20 2 943) has
the power to relieve a teacher from duty temporarily. The letter must be written on letterhead and hand
delivered, not sent through email. The administrative leave was not warranted since there was no
evidence that Ms. Eskridge s presence at school would cause disruption or serious harm to personnel,
Coach Terwilliger. The Georgia Professional Standards states, the treatment of the employee must be
consistent with that of others who have been disciplined for similar violations. There is no
documentation that Coach Terwilliger received the same treatment for his behavior during their
encounter even though documentation shows that he spoke equally as derogatory as Ms. Eskridge.
Superintendent Knight then sent a follow up notice of suspension and attempted to make it retroactive
for the days she was out on administrative leave per the principal. The letter failed to include the
names of the known witnesses and a concise summary of the evidence to be used against her, and the
time and place of a hearing. Both the superintendent and the principal have violated the Official Code
of Georgia. At this point the Board is not able to transfer Ms. Eskridge since it would appear to be
used as part of a disciplinary action (Wilner v. Fulton County

Informative Essay On Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras, first introduced to New Orleans in the early 1730s, is now one of the most celebrated
holidays by many natives in Louisiana. Several events are planned for the celebration, beginning in
late October or November, which leads into the Mardi Gras season. Mardi Gras involves a series of
events and products like Mardi Gras Balls, delicious cakes that are famously known as King Cakes,
and parades every day beginning in January and ending on the day that is designated Mardi Gras Day,
also known as Fat Tuesday. Fat Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, the Catholic holiday
that marks the beginning of Lent. During the parades, the people riding on the floats throw beads,
candy, and stuffed animals, sometimes even other things, to those who have come from all around the
world to witness a true New Orleans Mardi Gras. Some companies will even shut down their
businesses to celebrate this holiday, even though it is not a national holiday. By ... Show more content

When we see these three colors together, we know we are in great spirits because the color purple
symbolizes justice; green symbolizes faith; and yellow symbolizes power. According to Mardi Gras
New Orleans, the colors of Mardi Gras can be traced to the first Rex parade in 1872 (Mardi Gras New
Orleans 1) and are used on the infamous King Cake. The colors were chosen to resemble a jeweled
crown that honored the Wise Men and a plastic baby is placed inside of the cake to embody the day
Jesus showed himself to the three wisemen. Those who get the plastic baby inside of their slice of
King Cake are deemed as the King for the day and have to bring a new cake to the next celebration.
Both the colors and the King cake are very important to the many residents of New Orleans as they

  • 2. Sex Offenders In Australia Essay The rate of registered sexual offenders in Australia and internationally has been frequently increasing over time. Within Victoria, as of December 2011, 4165 offenders had been registered and it is estimated that by the year 2020, there will be 10,000 registrations by then (Victorian Law Reform Commission, 2012). Within Australia today there are only a few states which have an established registry such as Western Australia and The Northern Territory. Other states within Australia such as New South Wales have indicated that they have been working to establish a registry. Having a sex offender registry is extremely crucial and beneficial to people in the community as it enables them to feel protected and constantly informed of the whereabouts of sex offenders within their community. Community s response to official Sex Offender registers In December 2012 the Western Australian Legislative Assembly passed the Community Protection Amendment Bill. This bill introduced an online sex offender register open to the community. The website posts the names and photographs of the state s most dangerous, recidivist sex offenders (Hinch, 2012). Images are big and bleed to the edge of the pages. I liked big letters that break the colums, and I also liked the grids how they used. For my own project, I wanted to fill the page with a picture, but pictures have low resolution, so I changed my plan to scale down all the images and wrote the quotation on top of the images to break the grid like my mood board. I tried to use limited colors, but it was not easy to make them same colors because the background of the images have different colors. I removed background of few images, and changed colors. Charles and Ray Eames s works feel like rounded and heavy, so I chose typeface is ITC Avant Garde Gothic Std(bold) for title. I wanted to use different typeface for The work of, so I chose InaiMathi. Because the title is san serif, I chose serif Minion Pro for the imformation. The reason I choose Avant Garde Gothic is rounded and x heigh is high. • 4. The Inseparable Curtis Brothers In The Outsiders The Inseparable Curtis Brothers Is life even possible without parents when you are a teenager? Try raising two younger brothers on top of that. In S.E. Hinton s book, The Outsiders, Darry Curtis took this duty into his own hands and tackled it as though he was a father. The Outsiders is a book about a rivalry between the two sides of town that leads to the death of three kids, two greasers and Soc. Does the sun set on both sides of town? The main characters in the story, Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry Curtis lose their parents in a car crash and have to adjust to life on their own. The Curtis brothers fear that the state agency will split them up, but they should not get split because they look out for each other, push each other, and need each other. Uniquely, both Darry and Soda focus a lot on Pony s future. In the story, one of the fellow greasers, Two Bit, says to Ponyboy, You know, the only thing that keeps Darry from bein a Soc is us. (Hinton 126) The boys have to regulate living life on their own which leads to Darry dropping the thought of college and working instead to help meet his two younger brothers needs. Not to mention that Soda dropped out of high school to work and help Darry with bills and such. Ponyboy says, Darry was too smart to be a greaser. (Hinton 126) Darry is not like the other greasers, he was a strong athlete and did fine in school. Darry would of probably went to college if it was not for the passing of his parents. He gave up a lot, but he knew he had to watch out for his brothers. Darry became the guardian over the boys ensuring that the family had reinforcement. Correspondingly, Darry wants the most suiting life for his brothers even though Ponyboy viewed it as Darry nagging at him. In the book, Ponyboy says, Darry did care about me, maybe as much as he cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying too hard to make something of me. ( Hinton 98) The Curtis brothers were all together again following Pony and Johnny running away. Soda and Darry go to the hospital to see Pony and Darry actually cries. • 5. Why Elephants Are Scared Of Mice Why Elephants Are Scared of Mice Thousands of years ago in Africa, elephants roamed the Earth without a single worry. Their immense size and strength had caused them to develop exaggerated pride, overconfidence and the belief that they were superior to all other creatures. George in particular, was no exception. He was more egotistic and arrogant than the entire elephant race combined. George only allowed the others to refer to himself as Master George and was incredibly irritated when smaller creatures would even glance at him without proper deference. Due to physical weakness and miniature size, most field mice had grown completely obedient, cowardly and feeble in character. Elephants such as George would often bully, hurt or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... George the elephant was of the opinion that he there was nobody as attractive or intelligent as himself. For this reason he presumed that it was a waste of time for him to meet other female elephants to build a family with. Therefore, George s only task was to find water for himself. Pedro on the other hand, had recently encountered a stunning female mouse who he cared for a great deal. Although he was challenged to find enough water for two beings, his size was finally an advantage due to the fact that mice required less water than larger creatures. After hours of searching for even the smallest bodies of water, Pedro eventually came across a sizeable puddle. His hard work had payed off; he was ready to return home to provide water to his partner. However, in order to continue his journey, Pedro needed several gulps of water himself. As Pedro drank blissfully, he noticed a large silhouette approaching the puddle. He could recognize this creature anywhere. It was an elephant. It didn t take George a long time to discover puddles that had not yet dried. George only needed to stand on his hind legs to see all the bodies of water around. He would then walk towards the pond, and proceed to use his long trunk to suck up the remaining water. After having used his methods on four different puddles, George casually strolled in the direction of the fifth. He was about to begin consuming the water, when he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Perceptual Disorders That Can Disrupt Visual Perception In the following essay an attempt will be made to look at the different perceptual disorders that can disrupt visual perception. Efforts will be made to compare (which by definition is the pointing out of differences and similarities) and it will also attempt to contrast (by pointing out the differences) in a logical and factual way. To do this, it is important to first define what is (a) meant by Visual perception and what it is thought to (B)encompass, and the (c) different perceptual disorders that may consequently lead to a disruption in this visual perception. The following account will culminate in a factual recording of the effect these disorders may have on the individual and the resulting disruptions that may occur within visual perception. (A) Explained as simplistically as possible, Visual perception itself is the ability to interpret one s surrounding environment by, processing information through the eye to the brain. The eye is a sense organ which is part of the sensory system which in turn transmits information about one s environment to the brain. (B) The eye sees its environment by using light, at first the image of one s environment is perceived as upside down but their eye changes this image to the correct way around; this process is called Reception. The image is then transformed from electromagnetic energy to electrochemical energy; this process is called Transduction. At this point the energy is transmitted along the individual s optic nerve to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is India s Tata Motors new four door, four seat, rear engine car for $2,500 a good alternative plan for transportation in India? In an article, No, No, No, Don t Follow Us, Thomas L. Once the people s car is successful in India, India s market will grow when they begin exporting to other fast growing markets where a relatively few percent of people own cars. Soon India will not only be competing at the top of auto industry, but it will be competing at the top with the innovative People s Car. The People s Car will also provide reliable, cost efficient transportation to consumers. Tata is planning to produce 250,000 People s Cars within the first year (Giridharadas). Considering that India s middle class is almost 300 million, the potential for sales is enormous. Profits will be made, leading to benefits for both India and Tata Motors. Even if the profit margins are small, the numbers of products being sold will generate a sufficient amount to make it worthwhile for Tata Motors. To take Friedman s point of view into consideration, we will consider the fact that cheaper cars will increase traffic and pollution. Isn t this inevitable? The official death toll was 35(Patrick, 1999) but it is believed that many more hundreds were killed, because many bodies were dumped into the river of coal mines or burned (Patrick, 1999). The Government And Environmental Policy Essay The Government and Environmental Policy The purpose of the United States public policy law is to implement restrictions in an effort to solve problems, which can be seen with the Clean Water Act. Public policy has also been employed to reform the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although the United States government is noble in it s efforts to preserve the environment through these acts, the internal structure of public policy often retards these acts effectiveness. This paper will explore the many ways in which factors such as horizontal implementation, divided government, and other forms of public policy affect the environmental legislation involved with the aforementioned acts. The main factors involved with the Endangered Species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, of course, workset like incentives such as taxes, fees, allowances, refunds, and liability are used to enforce the laws effectively. Horizontal implementation refers specifically to implementation with the federal government, as opposed to vertical implementation which is at the state and local levels. There are several specific concerns with horizontal implementation which include the breakdown of coordination due to the large structure of the federal government, language difficulties, lack of control due to the threat of success by one particular agency, different perspectives, and direct change of intention due to factors such as voter pressure. It s amazing that in the midst of all this that anything can be accomplished at all, but thanks to the drive to be re elected, things have to get done on the federal level or else the person in question will be renounced from power. So now that a foundation of the processes controlling these acts has been established, the question arises, what exactly is the Endangered Species Act? As one author puts it, quot; The Endangered Species Act of 1973, perhaps more than any other environmental law, dares to draw an unwavering line in the path of American progress. It boldly says in essence, Thou shalt not cause any species of plant or animal to go extinct. The reason that I choose this topic was because I have always been personally interested in Ronald Reagan s time in office and the national crisis he had to deal with. Reagan was awesome when it came to foreign policy because he knew how to negotiate with foreign leaders and their countries to get what he wanted. There were several instances during his time in office that he had the chance to use his ability to get the country out of danger. Domestic Affairs is another part of Reagan s presidency that was very important. He was able to take the country, which seemed to be in an economic slump and turn their economic status around. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This economic expansion and boost would occur through citizens who would spend the extra tax money on products and services in their geographical region or who would invest money into businesses in their area. The only problem for the government using this theory would be the initial revenues that the government would lose from the tax cuts. In theory the economic growth would eventually increase taxable incomes, this increase in taxable incomes should cause the governmental revenues to grow in the long run. With the idea of Reaganomics in mind President Reagan persuaded Congress to pass the Economic Recovery Tax Act, which is the first major step in his plan. This Tax Act called for a 25 percent tax cut that was implemented over a three year period (David Mervin, 1990, 133 7). The only problem with this tax cut is the fact that it mainly benefited the upper income taxpayers and large corporations. The reason that these groups were targeted is because there is more of a chance that they will invest their money in business programs that will promote economic growth. After this tax cut took effect the American people in the lower income tax brackets were not pleased with the results. They seemed to be faced with an increase in their tax rates even though most of them were in the income categories below the national average. Late adulthood is defined as being over the age of sixty five (Later Adulthood, n.d.). The sibling relationships is forced relationships that are maintained by the siblings to foster a lifelong relationship (Martin, Anderson, Rocca, 2005). Siblings play very different roles for each other, friend, competitor, manager, and teacher (as cited in Martin et al., 2005). Sibling relationships can be of three different types: Brother and brother, sister and sister, and brother and sister, all three will be discussed. Brother and Brother relationships out of the three types seem to have the least amount of telephone contact of all the types (Spitze Trent, 2006). • 18. Chemistry, Gas Lasers And The Co2 Both physicists and chemists have investigated the CO2 anion extensively over the past few decades because of its importance in atmospheric chemistry, gas lasers, and a multitude of different industrial applications. It has been observed in a variety of experimental processes such as electron collisions and high energy applications. As is well known, electrons cannot permanently attach to the CO2 molecule; as such, all CO¬2 anion states are inherently metastable and have finite lifetimes. Despite the many studies, both experimental and theoretical, there are still a number of unanswered questions, especially concerning the relationship between short lived and long lived temporary anion states. Direct electron attachment to the CO2 molecule produces only short lived anion states with lifetimes in the femtosecond range. These short lived species consist most importantly of the low lying anionic states 2Πu and 2Σg+ 1 6. They are the main contributor to the electron scattering from neutral CO2. The 2Σg+ virtual state is responsible for the zero energy peak in scattering experiments with energies for electron scattering below 1eV, while the 2Πu resonance state can be attributed to the observed peak in scattering cross sections at about 3.8eV. Long lived CO2 anion states on the other hand, have been observed with lifetimes in the microsecond, even millisecond range7,8. They can be produced in processes such as double electron attachment to CO2+ ions9,10, sputtering techniques11, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Critical Issue Analysis University of Phoenix Material Critical Issue Analysis After reading the selected critical issue, use the following questions to analyze the issue. Issue 3 Is Psychological Debriefing a Harmful Intervention for Survivors of Trauma? 1. What are at least two facts presented by each side of the critical issue? Devilly Cotton who represent the con side of the agreement present many different facts. Two that stand out is: that psychological debriefing . . . more of a moral maintenance intervention qua gesture of employer support, rather than a clinical intervention influencing distress and clinical symptomatolgy. (Halgin, 2009, p. 68.) Devilliy Cotton also point to the fact it is a company s way to protect again ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What are some of the weaknesses? I believe the strength of Davilly and Cotton was that they took the time to define and try to show the differences between Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. As well as defining what psychology debriefing entails. Their weakness would be it was how to read, it did not flow easy for the readers and somewhat confusing. Also another weakness which was pointed out by Mitchell was that they did not seem to do much deep research for other papers written on the topic. 5. How credible were the authors of each argument? Explain your answer. Davilly Cotton when to detail on what psychological debriefing was and how there are many different forms of it with: Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. Also how these two really kind of play hand in hand and might be the same thing. Therefore it is hard to tell the difference between the two. They tried to break down how these two systems work and the outcomes of such programs. Mitchell was credible in from the first paragraph notes that In 1983 I wrote the first article ever written on Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. . . (Halgin, 2009, p. 78). Uses the programs during an event rather than after. 6. Based on the statements presented in this critical issue, which author do you agree with? Why? • 41. Flat Tax Vs. Flat Rate Structure What is a flat tax? Flat tax or flat rate structure is an income tax system where everyone pays the same tax percentage rate regardless of their income. A flat tax applies the same tax rate to all taxpayers, with no deductions or exemptions allowed. Simplicity is a benefit of the flat tax system. One rate makes it easy to calculate taxes. It is easier to understand and report flat taxes, because it taxes only one income. The flat tax gets rid of double taxation on savings and dividends, because families are not required to report dividends, interest and other business related income, which is taxed at the business level. A flat tax employs territorial taxation and eliminates global taxation. A flat tax promotes fairness, because no matter how much money one makes they would pay the same percentage of taxes. Therefore, this tax system does not discriminate based on income. There are also some ways the flat tax system does not benefit taxpayers. It penalizes the low income population because we all rich and poor have to spend money on the same things, such as food, housing and clothing. People with lower income would have less to spend on these things with a flat tax. A flat tax would benefit only the rich, because they would have more money left. It eliminates a back up revenue source for the government, because the government relies heavily on revenue generated from income taxes. It is liked because it seems fairer to everyone. It carries the same percentage of tax across ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although she was awkward and shy as a child, she married Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and became an influential figure to the world as well as an inspiration to women everywhere in her own right. Eleanor was more than a president s wife; she was an eloquent speaker, delegate of the United Nations, and overall an independent woman. Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born on October 11, 1884 in New York City. She grew up with a wealthy family in the Manhattan boroughs. She was the sister of two younger brothers: Elliott Jr. and Hall. Her parents, Elliott and Ann, were socialites at the top of New York s society. Although her parents were wealthy, it did not buy them their happiness. Before Eleanor was five, her father broke his ankle while doing somersaults for the county circus. To reduce the pain of his injury, Elliott began drinking more heavily. Because of Elliott s moodiness and depression, he set out to find a cure for himself. This separated him from all of his children, including Eleanor. Without Eleanor s father with her, she became discouraged. Her only wish was to make her father happy. Not only was Eleanor upset over Elliott leaving; Anna was as well. Anna was furious with his decisions and started to neglect her children. Eleanor s education was disregarded, so her mother hired her a tutor. Copper Reaction Lab Report AP Chemistry 12/13/11 Round Trip Copper Reactions Lab The purpose of this lab was to evaluate our skills of decanting a supernatant liquid without losing the solid and successful completion of a series of reactions. This was done through five chemical reactions involving copper. In this lab, elemental copper was put through five different chemical reactions in order to convert it into different compounds. By the end of the fifth reaction, the copper was back to its elemental state. In the first reaction, 0.95 g of pure copper was reacted with 4.0 mL of concentrated nitric acid under the fume hood. The solution was swirled until all of the copper had dissolved. The balanced equation for this reaction is as follows: Cu (s) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The black precipitate was allowed to settle and then the supernatant, the clear liquid that lies above a precipitate, was decanted, or poured carefully off. Then, 200 mL of hot distilled water was added and the precipitate was allowed to settle to repeat the decanting process again. In the fourth reaction, 15 mL of 6.0 M sulfuric acid was added to the copper (II) oxide while stirring. The balanced equation for this reaction is as follows: CuO (s) + H2SO4 (aq) à CuSO4 (aq) + H2O (l) + SO2 (g) When the sulfuric acid was added to copper (II) oxide, the solution turned blue. This was due to the formation of aqueous copper (II) sulfate, which produced the copper ions to change the color of the solution. In the fifth reaction, 2.29 g of zinc was added to the copper (II) sulfate solution under the fume hood. The balanced equation for this reaction is written as followed: Zn (s) + CuSO4 (aq) à ZnSO4 (aq) + Cu (s) When the zinc was added to the copper (II) sulfate solution, the solution started to bubble. As the solution was stirred, it turned a cloudy blue. Small flecks of a brown solid were visible. As the solution became colorless, the brown solid settled to the bottom of the beaker. The solid formed was copper in its elemental state. The color faded from the solution as the copper ions slowly formed into solid copper. In old Athletic events sports people have tried multiple medicines in order to push their physical abilities to the limit. As an example athletes would inject themselves before any competition; this has proven that the use of illegal methods to win in sports is not new or unusual. Though, nowadays it s widely spread in sports only, Steroids was first developed in Germany in the 1930s, the main reason behind inventing such a drug was to intensify the force of their soldiers; Germans have noticed that their army s endurance increased in the battlefield. Steroids have first known its way to sports trough the 1952 s Olympics. In Muscular Strength sports Soviet Union and other European countries were taking a significant lead over athletes from other nations including the U.S. At the time, the Olympic U.S team physicians doubted the success of the Union Soviet sportsmen, as it was their first participation ever in the Olympics Games and they were the closest rival to the U.S team which was dominating at the time (Union Soviet defeated America in the following Games). • 45. Examples Of Sapir Whorf Hypothesis Sapir Whorf hypothesis Zainab Saleem Khan Section K It is often thought that the reality that is being expressed in spoken word is the very same as the reality which is being perceived in thought. Perception and expression are frequently understood to be synonymous and it is assumed that our speech is mostly based on our thoughts. This idea presumes that what one says is dependent of how it is encoded and decoded in the mind. (Badhesha, 2002) In any case, there are numerous individuals that trust the inverse: what one sees is reliant on the talked word. The supporters of this thought trust that thinking is reliant on language. Scoring highest, were my strengths of putting first things first and sharpening the saw. These two strengths were followed closely by a third place tie of being in tune with my emotional bank account and ability to be proactive. Scoring lowest were my two greatest weaknesses, which are seeking first to understand and life balance. Tied in third place as weaknesses are thinking win win and synergize. One of my highest scoring strengths is my ability to put first things first. This came to me as no surprise, as I see this dominant characteristic in almost every aspect of my life. Whether professionally or personally, my ability to see what needs to get done coupled with my drive to cross things off my to do list has been a strength of mine as far back as I can remember.
