On October 26, 2017, in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall at the
University of South Alabama, there was Jazz Ensemble Concert directed by Tracy
Heavner. The night was filled with the rhythmic groove of jazz. By writing this
report I hope to show you, the reader, a new perspective of Jazz Music. The first
piece, Lady Bird, by Tadd Dameron was written in 1939. The JazzEnsemble began
the piece by putting their full hearts in it. By using repetition of the melody in the
saxophones and clarinets it helps the ensemble build suspense. Once the tenor
saxophonecomes in with a solo, the performer runs through chromatic scales
smoothly. The ensemble continues with the melody leading to a heavy melody
held in the trumpets until an alto saxophone comes in and takes the melody away.
The rest of the ensemble holds the countermelody that compliments the alto
saxophone well. The alto saxophone passes the melody to the piano where then it
was passed to a trombone. This piece took one melody and bounces it all around
the ensemble to show off different performers abilities with their instruments. The
second piece, Makin Whoopee, by Gus Kahn and Walter Donaldson was written in

She was having lots of trouble in school due to her learning from Atticus and
Calpurina, as well as not getting along with the other children, like Walter, who
she was rude to. Walter is from a poor family, and I think shows how the social
class works in the story. When I had first started reading the book I thought Scout

Experiment 1 is a partial conceptual replication of Collins and Quillian s (1969)
study on the hierarchy network model for the organization of semantic memory. The
purpose of experiment 1 was to test Collins and Quillian s hypothesis stating that
response time for category searching should be slower as a function of an increasing
number of levels separating a category subject and it s predicate term on the semantic
hierarchy model. We use the same basic procedure as Collins and Quillian s
experiment, except that we utilize a single category for predicate terms as opposed to
multiple categories at level 2 of the semantic hierarchy model.

Participants and Apparatus. 23 NYU students, taking lab in human cognition,

The positive influence I have in the community is my commitment to serve others in
any possible way. For instance, apart from my, per diem job in the pre op
department at Trios health hospital as a certified nursing assistant. I commit time as a
volunteer in the pre op unit assisting the staff. Ranging, from bringing patients in to
the department, keeping track of the surgery schedule and assisting family during
