journal entry. The year is 2016; my best friend of 10 years is gone, and my depression has
overtaken me. Unfortunately, we have to make hard choices about letting go of a close friend,
and although it may hurt us, it is the right thing to do. I still remember the day that I had to
lower his body down in to that 6 foot deep hole; somehow, I feel as if he is still here, right beside

The generation effect refers to the experimental findings that when the subject is asked to generate
all/part of the stimulus the item is always remembered better than the stimulus that the subject only
read (Slamecka Graf). That is the information that the subject generates/creates by oneself is
remembered better compared to the information they only read. Results show that in all the cases,
the performance in generation condition was superior to that in read condition. Using a repeated
measures design, subjects were exposed to 2 levels (conditions, namely, read condition and generate
condition). After each condition, they were engaged in a simple recall task, remembering as many
words as they could. This phenomenon is applied even across variations in encoding rules, timed or
self placed presentation and along with between and within subjects design. A number of potential
explanatory principles are considered and their difficulties are enumerated in the following report.

Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and
equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection
between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global
population is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue,
including disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence,
and poverty that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their
lifetime (UN Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nationshas extended
efforts for growing global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality

Many religions have strong opinions about death since most religions believe in reincarnation,
heaven or hell or an afterlife. Because of this, it is interesting to focus on different religions and
their view of death. Therefore, four religions (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) were

The men came to the conclusion that fate must be the reason that they are experiencing this
deathly situation. It is the understanding of this fact that brings the men to the edge of their

The police officers that went into the public had to meet certain qualifications. The officer had to
act in a professional manner while in the public. Theses officers were even tempered and did not

The definition, understanding and treatment of psychological disorders have changed over time.
In the dark ages or mid evil times, people who behaved abnormally were quickly labelled as
being mad or being possessed by spirits. The individuals were often held in isolation with their
treatments being very cruel and harsh. In the eighteenth century, a French physician named
Philippe Pinel challenged the cruel treatment methods and promoted a gentler and more humane
approach. According to the American Psychiatric Association, a psychological disorder is a
syndrome marked by a clinically significant disturbance in an individual s cognition, emotion
regulation or behavior. (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Some people use the term
psychological disorder in the same context as a mental illness or disorder. It is a behavior that
leads to distress in an individual and prevents him or her from living a normal life to the point
that they cannot perform daily chores. Certain behaviors have normal acceptable characteristics
and if the behavior falls outside of this acceptable range, it can be considered a disorder. The
behavior can be painful as well as harmful to the individual. One thing to note is that the behavior
should not be something that is caused by a sudden stressful experience such as grief due to the

Over the years, the popularity of computer and video games has grown. Specifically violent video
games make up more than 50 % of the top selling games. These games include violent themes that
involve guns, crime, blood, and gore. There is an ongoing belief that these types of games are to
blame for the many acts of violence in society and have encouraged America s youth to act out in
aggression. Several organizations, such as the PTC (Parents Television Council) have moved to
discourage the development of violent games while also pushing for stronger regulations when

The Argument Of Creation Vs. Evolution
The argument of Creation vs. Evolution has been debated for quite sometime. Since Darwin s
theory of Evolution by Natural Selection was published, some of those that thought the world
and its inhabitants was made by a creator now began to think differently. Evolution began to
make sense, there was evidence of certain types of species evolving (as in the finches in the
galapogos islands as observed by Darwin) however, with creationism there was no evidence, it was

In the article, The Robot Invasion by Charlie Gillis, the author discusses how robots have grown
from the early 1990 s, to the present, and what is expected in the future. He discusses how the
beginning of robotics went from simple robots to more complex robots. For example, Andrew
Vardy, a computer science professor, recently created toy sized robots that could see and was
able to sort pucks by color (Gillie, 2012, p. 478). The biggest challenge faced with the growth of
robots is the capability to respond to changes in the surroundings. However, there is hope for
robots evolving because James McLurkin, a professor from Rice University, programmed
