The Nintendo Entertainment System
Which is Best?
Theres different types of motion used in many gaming systems. You can be
standing, sitting down, using controllers, or not using any controllers at all. There are at
least many different types of movement motions involved in both types of electronics
made by different companies. The Kinect may have more free motion, but the Wii seems
more enjoyable for families to use and have fun.
The Nintendo Entertainment System was introduced in 1985 which became an
instant hit, selling over sixty million units. In 2006, Nintendo introduced the Wii and
with it contained more advanced, revolutionary features. The Wii contained wireless
motion sensitive remote controllers, built in Wi Fi capability (Nintendo), and a lot of
other features that made it the best selling in the world. As for the Kinect; introduced by
the company of Xbox 360 in 2010. With Kinect for the Xbox, you can command and
control the Kinect with the use of your voice and gestures, and play games where you are
the controller (Xbox).
In theses ads, both companies are trying to target families with the use of ethos, pathos,
and logos. The companies try to sell their product by using other families in the ad to catch the
eyes of others on why they should by the Kinect or the Wii. In the Kinect Ad, it shows the
emotion, also known as pathos, of the two girls on the couch, smiling but their not even playing,
and the two guys that are playing are not

Similarities Between Harrisonson Hargeron And Harrison...
2081 PROJECT
How can we tell if a character in a book is a Christ figure? Harrison Bergeron is an appropriate
example. He went through and done things that Christ had done such as being persecuted for his
faith, carried a beam of wood on his shoulders, and came to rescue the unqualified world.
Harrison was taken away from home and went through series of rough treatment. He was
terrorized for his beliefs, as with Jesus when He suffered the same way. In addition, the story
reads, he wore earphones that dulled his intelligence, weights that strapped him to decrease his
strength, wavy glasses that made him half blind, and a wooden beam on his shoulders to cut his
mobility. Coincidentally, Jesus had to carry a wooden cross on His shoulder to... Show more

Beside the differences, Harrisson was killed for his actions on both story and movie including the
fact that he stated on how the Handicap General treated and handled him. At the end, Harrison was
relatively different between the story and the movie although there were similarities.
The differences between George Bergeron and I are striking, and we deserve a thorough
investigation. We are separate in two ways: intelligence quotient and physical appearance. George
lives with his wife, Hazel in an era where there s nothing, but equality. His son, Harrison was
taken away by the HG men, due to his mental and physical potential. In both story and the movie,
George is shown to have handicaps and earphones, signally that he is mentally more capable of
having an extremely high intelligence quotient; while I on the other hand, does have an average
intelligence quotient, but not as smart or as elevated as George. And George, while his
intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. It is not very
clear that George is fairly aged in the story, but the movie says else wise. In my head, it seemed
as if George was younger than the movie version of him. Through the movie, George is physically
displayed as a balding, aged man with the looks of a seventy or an eighty year old man. George
often goes into deep thought about various things that in which can get him shocked from the
Government. On the other hand, I love to go into deep thought

Masculinity In In Bad Neighbours
Media, especially Hollywood Film, has been one of the foremost vehicles for the perpetuation of
masculine hegemony, not only in the West, but the world over. Much of our behavioural cues are
taken from what we observe on screen. The question of whether or not life imitates art is central
in attempting to understand how our desires come to exist in the first place, and to what degree
these desires are natural, or a byproduct of the incessant behavioural suggestions we consume via
the screen. The concept of what is masculine is not cut and dried, but Hollywood has had a way of
portraying a clear hegemonically ideal manhe is suave, intelligent, usually wealthy (or at least
highly agentic by other means such as sheer force of presence); he... Show more content on

masculinity is no match for theirs), and consequently his wife must step in. Ben Stone attempts

fatherhood. If only Dale Denton were more of a man, he wouldn t be ashamed to meet his

Individuality In The Wall
In 1977, while on the Flesh Tour with Pink Floyd, Roger Waters conceived and wrote the elegant
rock opera, The Wall. His motivation for doing so was an increased distaste for the crassness of
the audiences during the tour. Waters himself attests that the album is fundamentally anti war, but
also claims that it is an elaborate allegory for the metaphorical wall he felt society was building for
itself. On several occasions, Waters has stated that he has often felt disconnected with the audiences
of his shows as if there were a wall separating him from them. American society has placed an
increasing emphasis on individuality since the turn of the century. Throughout The Wall, Rogers
revisits this sense of hyper individuality with an isolationist and elitist attitude of mine is better than
yours, but you cannot share mine. Individuality is the crux of the postmodern world and Rogers
embraces it as a groundbreaking artist while rejecting its notion in society creating a profound
paradox.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story of The Wall is of protagonist, Pink, supposedly a character loosely based off of Pink Floyd
s late front man, Syd Barret and Roger Waters, himself. In the 53 song journey, Pink is born,
abused by the universe and in the last song, Run Like Hell, Pink solidifies his fate with placing
the final brick in the wall he has been building around himself his entire existence. While Pink is
merely a product of the cruel environment he was brought up in, his isolationism becomes his
poison. With the last brick in his wall, Pink has lost everything including his sanity and his once
beloved wife. Waters here references that when one separates themselves from the rest of the world,
whether it be fear, distrust, hatred, or intolerance, more harm is being done than good. The
consequences for society that behaves in this fashion are

Love is a Weakness in Shakespeare s Works
Love is blind, and lovers cannot see says Shakespeare about love. The fact that love incapacitates
people made him think like that. Indeed people in love do many things which actually they did
not want to do, say many things which they didn t have to say, didn t see things that they had to
see. These impossibilities make people weak. Life and other people always use especially those
weaknesses for hurting or damaging someone, also this weakness makes them open to take
advantage of them by other people. Shakespeare recognizes that and makes adaptation to his
writings. He shows us the how characters find themselves in a conflict which lovecaused. He
always gives us the impression of Love is weakness .
Revenge, love, faith... These feelings are the foundations of the Much Ado about Nothing which
is one of the rare comedies written out by Shakespeare. It maintains its importance even though
four and half centuries passed after it s been written. Surely most important factor of this success
is its cleverly fictionalized plot. Shakespeare gives us the chance to observe the behaviors and
moves of people when they faced something wrong with their love or lover. We can easily
recognize that most wise and logical person can move unconsciously when it comes to love. For
example, Claudio and Hero s love is one the best example at this point. The royal, gentleman and
brave character of the play is undoubtedly Claudio. When he learns that Hero cheated on him, that

exploration of how sports shape and engage the world for the millions of devoted fans in

This project is performed at ACC concrete ltd, Bangalore. The project focuses on studying the
effect of brand image on ACC concrete mix. This project will show ACC concrete ltd an insight
into the market and try to find the major factors expected by the consumer while purchasing

In this project descriptive research have been used and observe how brand image of ACC has
influenced people to purchase concrete products from this company. Concrete is a mixer of
aggregate, cement, sand, admixture and water. In present time customers prefer Ready Mix

A company or its product/ services which constantly holds a favorable image by the public, would
definitely gain a better position in the market, sustainable competitive advantage, and increase
market share or performance (Park, Jaworski, MacInnis, 1986).
In addition, several empirical findings have confirmed that a favorable image (i.e. brand, store
/retail) will lead to loyalty (e.g. Koo, 2003; Kandampully Suhartanto, 2000; Nguyen LeBlanc, 1998),
brand equity (Faircloth, Capella, Alford, 2001; Biel, 1992; Aaker, 1991; Keller, 1993), purchase
behavior (Hsieh et al., 2004) and brand performance (Roth, 1995).
Reynolds (1965) noted that an image is the mental construct developed by the consumer on the
basis of a few selected impressions among the flood of the total impressions; it comes into being
through a creative process in which these selected impressions are elaborated, embellished, and
ordered (p. 69). Kotler (2001) defined image as the set of beliefs, ideas, and impression that a

giants and BRICS grouping, serve as starting points for future research and study.
Master s thesis gave me the chance to become better acquainted with the essentials of social

Pushing Syndrome Research Paper
Choice E is the best answer. Cushing syndrome is a clinical syndrome associated with an excess
of glucocorticoids(GCs), due either to elevated levels of endogenous cortisol or exogenous use of
glucocorticoid medications such as prednisone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone, and betamethasone.
Common signs and symptoms include altered fat deposition (including moon facies and buffalo
hump , referring to fat deposition in the face and the upper back), weight gain, hypertension,
striae, acne, hyperglycemia, and central muscle weakness. Treatment involves cessation of
glucocorticoid therapy, though a taper is crucial, as abrupt withdrawal can lead to acute adrenal
insufficiency and shock. In non endocrine disorders, GCs are commonly given in pharmacologic
(therapeutic) doses to suppress inflammation. In endocrine disorders, however, corticosteroid
doses are often given at or close to physiologic doses (rather than in therapeutic ranges). GC
associated toxicity appears to be related to both the average dose and cumulative duration of GC
use. However, for most GC related adverse events, threshold dose or treatment duration has not
been established. Choice A is not the best answer. While a proper diet and exercise program is

conditions. In patients with endocrinopathies, pancreatic and adrenal lesions may be identified that
could relate to their condition. In this patient, it is theoretically possible for the Cushing syndrome
to be caused by a cortisol secreting adrenal tumor. However, Cushing syndrome is much more
commonly secondary to exogenous glucocorticoids rather than endogenous glucocorticoids;
therefore, stopping the patient s prednisone use should be the first step. If the symptoms of steroid
excess persist, then a CT of the abdomen with a three phase adrenal protocol could be performed to

Dynamic Characters In Things Fall Apart
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.
These are the words of Socrates on change and the human energy it may take to embrace it. One
culture that experienced significant change was the Ibo culture and its people. The novel Things
Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, clearly demonstrates the changes that took place in the Ibo culture
to a Western audience. By following the life of many dynamic characters throughout the story,
Achebe is able show the reader what the Ibo culture entails. Characters play a dominating role in
Chinua Achebe s novel by displaying how one must change in order to survive in the evolving
world. One of the most dynamic characters in Achebe s novel is Okonkwos son, Nwoye. From the

The Necklace And The Rights To The Streets Of Memphis...
Have you ever noticed that your actions/choices affect how and where you end up in life? In the
stories, The Necklace and The rights to the Streets of Memphis the character s choices, and how
well they make them, depend on how the characters end up. While some may say the characters
were affected more by chance, the characters in The Necklace, and The Rights to the Streetsof
Memphis were ultimately affected by their actions because when Richardchose to man up and stand
up for himself in front of the boys he got his money back, Richard decided he did not want to
stay out in the streets until he fought those boys just like Madame Loisel decided she did not
want to live a poor lifestyle for any longer , and Madame Loisel s greed and desire for wealth
ironically caused her to live a poor lifestyle. In the story The Necklace, Madame Loisel and her
husband were poor and not wealthy. But Madame Loisel did not enjoy being poor and wanted to
live a rich and wealthy lifestyle. While her husband did not mind living the poor lifestyle they
lived and did not care if they were rich or not. In the story her husband got both of them an
invitation to a party and needed a nice outfit and jewels to wear but Madame Loisel had neither.
So they both decided to borrow some of Madame Forestier s jewels. They lost the necklace before
they could return it to Madame Forestier and decided to buy a real diamond necklace for 30,000

Victimization of Minor Characters in Laura Esquivel s...
In a novel, minor characters are never the focus of the plot. Minor characters are present in a novel
to affect the major characters and help the character development of the major characters. Minor
characters influence the major characters in many ways. One of these ways of supporting the major
characters, is the victimization of the minor characters. Two excellent examples of minor characters
that impact the major characters of the novels due to the minor characters being victimized is

Monica offered Father Rodrigues a cucumber, showing her respect for him by giving him what
little food she had to offer. From this small yet generous offer made by Monica, Father Rodrigues
reflected on his mission to Japan.
Since coming to this country, he reflected, he had caused nothing but hardship to these poor
Christians, and he nibbled at the cucumber with his front teeth. He had received from them the
little hut in which he had dwelt, they had given him the clothing he now wore, he had eaten their
food. Now it was his turn to give them something. But what could he give? The only thing he had
to offer was his life and his death (Endo 81).
Monica was already malnourished, yet she selflessly offered her only food to Father Rodrigues, a
man she had never encountered before. This was huge to Father Rodrigues and it made him
question what he can do to help her in return. Monica?s impact and the victimization made Father
Rodrigues question whether or not his coming to Japan really worth it or not. He realized that he
had only created more hardships for the Christian peasants that he had encountered throughout
Japan. However, at the same time, Father Rodrigues also realized that many of the Christians
looked up to him and were thankful that Father Rodrigues would try to come and help them.
Monica, through her being victimized, helped Father Rodrigues decide his fate in the end, dying as
a martyr, or living and trying to resurrect a

The First Jewish Roman War
As briefly stated in the previous section of this paper, John was writing to both Jewish and
Gentile Christians, post the First Jewish Roman war. The era of his writing and the audience to
which he was writing greatly affected what he was communicating with this passage of Scripture.
The logos in the 90 s CE would have been understood by Greeks through a Platonic and Stoic
worldview as a mediatory means between the divine and human realms or as the reason , the force
by which the universe was structured. Philo, a first century philosopher combined this
understanding of the logos with the Jewish conception of wisdom personified. Before the writings
of John s Gospel, the Jewish writings personified Wisdom as a divine mediator of God s person and
intent (see Proverbs 8:27; 29 30; 35 36). One can see how language like this shapes and forms the
understanding of Jesusthat John wanted to convey to his audience. The Hellenistic audience,
influenced by Plato would see Jesus as the mediating agent between heaven and earth, which was
confirmed by Jesus in John 1:51, while Jewish readers would understand the Word of God through
an Old Testament worldview as God in action, specifically in creation, revelation and deliverance.
Craig Keener talks of John s usage of logos in this way,
By calling Jesus the Word, John calls him the embodiment of all God s revelation in the Scriptures
and thus declares that only those who accept Jesus honor the law, fully (1:17). Jewish

The Reality Of Women s Soccer
Isabel Cesarotti Dr. Barron ENC 1101 12 September 2016 The Reality of Women s Soccer One
of the clearest memories I have is of the day when my mom sat me down, looked me in the eye
and said to me that as a women in this world, I was going to have to work ten times harder as any
man to command respect. She told me that as a woman in this world, there are certain
inevitabilities I have to accept. The main one is that life is unfair. She said that accomplishments
are inevitably going to be handed to men that you feel you worked hard for and deserved. This,
she said, was going to sometimes make me feel outraged or bitter, and oftentimes make me feel
worthless. She said, however, the most important thing that I must do is simply put away my
pride, roll my shoulders, stiffen my lip and work harder than anyone. In that way, I can succeed.
But what if after succeeding, after working harder, longer and more intensely than everyone
else, you achieve the most you can in your career and realize that your hard work is
meaningless? Meaningless because you simply do not get the same respect as your male
counterparts. Many professional woman soccer players are currently experience this heart
wrenching feeling. This is because it is painfully clear: women soccer players are not getting the
same level of respect as their male counterparts. The first World Cup was held in July of 1930 and
it exclusively hosted men. Since then, women footballers have been championing for women s

A Plan For A University Facilities Project Manager
INTRODUCTION Teams, as discussed this semester, referred to individuals at one firm brought
together to, for example, complete a project, develop a new product, or define a new process.
However, I as a university facilities project manager, have a different sort of team; one consisting of
individuals from different firms brought together to complete a building project. How might the
principles of team building be utilized in my team consisting of end user group (who will occupy
the building), facilities operations staff, architect, and contractor or construction manager?
The construction industry has utilized a concept called partnering on large projects with the goal
of creating a cooperative environment to minimize conflicts which could result in claims or
litigation (GSA 2016). It is hoped to achieve this goal by creating an environment of trust and open
communication among the participants. Caltrans is a strong advocate of partnering; requiring the
process on all projects over $10 million (Caltrans 2013). They have an admirable field guide and
partnering training program. We also have PMI s Project ManagementBook of Knowledge
providing guidance in developing a project management plan (PMP). The PMP documents much of
what is covered in partnering sessions. Yet in reviewing the Caltrans field guide, creating PMPs,
reading partnering articles, and participating in partnering sessions myself; the process is missing
something.

Death Of Innocence By Mamie Till- Mobley
Death of Innocence is a non fictional novel written by Mamie Till Mobley about the tragedy of
her son s brutal murder. Emmett Louis Till was born on July 25, 1941 to parents Louis Till, and
Mamie Till Mobley, Emmett was born breeched, and was going to endure multiple health
complications in his short fourteen years. Emmett wanted to visit family in Mississippi although
Mama and Mamie were very hesitant. They tried to educate Emmett the dangers of a black person
in the South. Emmett was born in Chicago, and was not aware of the type of racism blacks
endured in the South. Unfortunately, due to Emmett s heath complications when he started to
stutter Emmett would whistle. A black male whistling at a white woman during this time of age
was prohibited. Mamie educated Emmett before he left that he should not even walk on the same
side of the street as a white woman. Emmett apparently whistled at a white woman while in a
store. This led to white racists kidnapping him in the middle of the night and inhumanly murdered
Emmett on August 28, 1955. Mamie chose to have an open casket funeral for Emmett. Though it
was hard for her to turn her privacy of grieving the loss of her son, she chose to turn this into a
public issue. She became an activist for the black community and educated children and churches
on lynches. Emmett s death led to America s civil rights movement. Growing up in Chicago

ADHS is a large and complex agency which encompasses many departments, divisions, and offices.
As a result, each component and program collects different data and evaluates their capacities

Policy Review Essay
Introduction
A policy is defined as a definite course or method of action selected from among alternatives and
in light of given conditions to guide and determine present and future decisions (Miriam Webster,
para. 1). Policies are used in acute settings as operational tools that give support and direction to
staff, patients and the public (Collins Patel, 2009, p.42). In nursing practice, it is important to
understand these different policies as they influence our nursing practice every day. Ballarat
Health Services (2011) developed a policy to provide a guideline on storage, transport and checking
procedures for expressed breast milk in the scope of maternity and pediatric units (p.1). In the

For the policy to enhance the amount of support it receives from evidence, it would be highly
recommended that the policy refers to sources that are concurrent with recent research and that are
accessible for proper analysis of the policy. The six other sources that were listed in the references,
provided sufficient support to the policy. Two of these references will be discussed in the following

One of the sources listed was one from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
which is a U.S. federal agency that works to protect public health by providing communities with
the necessary tools and information essential to protecting health (US Legal Definitions, 2013,

Color Imagery In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin
The Russian art theorist Wassily Kandinsky once said that Color is a power which directly
influences the soul. In other words, what Kandinsky said means that colors can be used to
evoque very different types of emotions and ideas. Colors always have a deeper meaning than
what they are actually used for, no matter if it is used in art or in literature. The classical
dystopian novel We, which was published in 1924 by Yevgeny Zamyatin, is a great example of a
work of literature that uses colorimagery. The dystopia within this book, United State is set 200
years in the future, in a totalitarian world that has total control over their citizens lives, who are

Throughout the whole novel, Zamyatin uses the color yellow to symbolize complexity and
rebellion, which are qualities from the primitive and ancient world, that United State tries to
suppress. One of the main ways Zamyatin uses this color is in connection to I 330, who is the
second main female character that is introduced into the book and D 503 s first love interest.
The first time I 330 s association with yellow appeared in this story is in Record Six, when D
503 visited I 330 for the first time at the Ancient House, the only building in the entire society
that is not made out of glass. In this scene, I 330 went to a room and came out dressed in short,
bright yellowish dress, black hat, black stockings (28). The bright yellow dress described in this
scene is a relic from ancient times, before the Green Wall was built and two hundred year war
occured. Seeing I 330 in this attire definitely made a very big impression on him because it was
the first time ever that D 503 personally interacted with the primitive world. This interaction with
her had such a deep effect on D 503 that he even sees and mentions the color yellow, when I 330
is not around, mostly when he feels he is doing something against the state. I 330 is the only
character that takes on different shades of the color yellow. As portrayed in Record Seventeen,
while D 503 searched for I 330 in the Ancient House, he fell into one of its mystery corridor and
he found himself with the doctor that had previously given him a letter that excused him from
work. While waiting for I 330 he recalled the familiar saffron yellow silk, the smile bite, the eyes
with their curtains drawn (93). This description shows another dress from the ancient world in the
same color as the first, but in a darker shade. The fact that yellow is one of the only color that takes
on different shades means that it is complex, and that there are more dimensions to it.

2.2 How and when should you report any concerns around health and safety?
Risk assessment is about identifying the risks and putting things in place to reduce or remove the
risks.
Slips, trips and falls are the most common cause of non fatal major injuries in service industries
and account for over half of all reported injuries Source HSE.
Example:
Slips Wet floors because something has been spilt or an individual has just had a bath
Put Caution Wet Floor sign up to alert other people of the danger.
Trips Electrical leads carelessly left trailing across the floor Frayed carpets or mats
Cleaners bucket left in a walkway Tidy up the leads so they do not cross a walkway

Binary Data Analysis
Satellite sensors send bits of binary data to ground stations on Earth for processing into useful
meteorological and environmental information enabling enhanced decision making capabilities.
Thereby, preventing injuries and fatalities, preserving assets, and reducing time delays. Binary
data are comprised of zeroes and ones. One bit contains either a 0 or a 1 . A single bit, in and of
itself, does not have a lot of value until it is used. The same is true of information. Information does
not have value until it is utilized.
Prior attempts to value information have used deterministic methods. However, these methods have
been less than successful. There tends to be a level of uncertainty associated with information, and

This framework can be used to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of various types of data
sources in relation to other types of data sources. For instance, how does data from buoys
contributes to forecast accuracy versus data ingested from microwave, satellite sensors versus
measurements obtained from radio occultation sensors versus observations from sondes, etc. The
framework can be applied at the macro or micro level. Although macro level uses should be
considered a rough order of magnitude. It is important when doing comparisons that the data is
normalized at the lowest level possible (ideally bits) is used. Consistent, standardized data is
required for this type of analysis.
Dollarizing the results is optional. Pegging the results to a currency will provide a benchmark for
accessing the value of meteorological and environmental information enabling better valuation

insights are gained from actual results. In this case, the data were pegged to a less volatile digital

Generally, put, an innovation is developing a new idea and putting it into practice. As this article is
focused on the competitive strategy of a private enterprise in a market driven business environment,
the term innovation is used here to refer to the process of bringing valuable new products (goods
and services) to market i.e., from the idea/concept formulation stage to the successful launching of a
new or improved product in the marketplace, or the result of that process, to meet the explicit or
implied needs of current or potential customers. In other words, through innovation an enterprise

Charles Manson s The Night Of The Tate Labianca Murders
Charles Manson was one of the most well known murderers that didn t actually kill anyone,
instead he had people do it for him. Helter Skelter or other known as Charles Manson
brainwashed people that are part of his family into thinking they should kill innocent people just
because he told them to. Part 1 of Helter Skelter was mainly about the people involved in his
family that he had created, the detectives that were in charge of the case, and the victims that
were murdered and he briefly touches on what happened the night of August 9th, 1969. The
author talks about the night of the murders and what exactly went on the night of the Tate
LaBianca murders. He also goes into depth about some of the people that were murdered at
10050 Cielo Drive, like Jay Sebring, who was a hairstylist and Abigail Folger who was an
heiress to the Folger coffee fortune, then he talks about Leno and Rosemary LaBianca who were
the owners and founders of Wholesale Grocery Company. Part 2 of the book was focused a lot on
the girls in the Manson family even though it was titled The Killers , it even touched on the
Hinman murder that had occurred before the Tate LaBianca murders. Susan Atkins, aka Sadie Mae
Glutz was a big part in this chapter/part because she gave the detectives a starting place for the
murders. They had taken Susan to the Sybil Brand Institute in Los Angeles, where she had a
roommate there and her name was Ronnie Howard. Susan told Ronnie everything about the

Risks of Teenagers Obtaining a Driver s Licence
Most teens look forward to getting a driver s license. But that may change if they know that they
have a much higher risk of having a motor accident than adult drivers. In the United States, driving
accidents are a leading cause of death among teenagers. These accidents happen mostly in
populated cities. This problem has caused each state to have its own drivinglaws for teens. Although
this problem is already a priority in many states, it should get more attention from the general
public, especially teens. It is important for people to know about driving laws because these laws
can help establish safe driving habits. California laws that attempt to decrease teen caused auto
accidentsinclude establishing a minimum age for passengers of teenage drivers. In California, a
new driver cannot transport anyone who is under 20 years of age unless a licensed adult is also
in the vehicle. Another effective law in California requires teen drivers to have at least 50 hours
of supervised driving during the learner s permit stage. This law is effective because it allows
teens to learn how to drive safely on the road with the help of an experienced driver. Although
some laws are effective, teens are still known to cause accidents. Therefore, a solution should be
proposed to the state governments that will call for a law that requires teens to take an annual
mandatory driving testfor a certain number of years after obtaining a license.

The sodium potassium pump is a type of active transport because it uses ATP as energy to change
the shape of the channel. Co transport with glucose is a type of active transport but could not be
possible without the indirect help of ATP to pump Na+ ions out to make higher concentration
gradient outside of the cell, so ATP is indirectly involved in co transport. Protein channels are a type
of passive transport because they use facilitated diffusion to pass into cellular membrane which is
the process of a molecule usually a sugar or amino acid is placed on a binding site of that protein
which makes the protein change shape or open its channeling, which allows the molecule to enter
the cell otherwise facilitating the process, no ATP is involved in this process.

The Rising Concerns of Underage Drinking Essay
Alcohol is a drink that possesses a seducing effect to tempt many citizens. Adults worldwide
consume countless cans of beers, wine, vodkas, and other alcohol beverages. However, its luring
quality has been secretly shared to minors, resulting to a problem called Underage Drinking. This
situation has existed for quite some time. In the past, underage drinking was considered a miniscule
crime, and wasn t strictly restrained or monitored. As we continued to remain oblivious, numbers of
adolescent drinkers have gradually increased as they used the tolerant rules to their advantage. Now,
the problem has become significantly noticeable, and we can no longer neglect it. High school,

sometimes leads to terrible consequences, in this case, the addiction to alcohol. A national study ...

among underage youth. Specifically, for each additional ad a young person saw ... he or she

have a great impact to the number of drinking adolescents, since the number of underage alcohol
consumption rises as advertisement rates rise. If such commercials continue to display on the
media without any types of appropriate content filters, the number of teenage alcoholics will
continue to rise as years pass by. As a result, we must greatly reduce the number of commercials
referring to alcohol products, to minimize the possibility to create future drinkers under the legal
age. Education is another great way to prevent the number of teenage alcoholics from rising any
further. We can control this situation with just a couple lessons and speeches to inform kids about
the consumption of alcohol by explaining how it affects their mind psychologically. Sure, drinking
may cause stress relief and relaxation to the teenagers burdened with the amount of schoolwork and
deciding their future. However, when

Essay On The Secret Of Humanity
Humanity is a term that is used to describe essential characteristics of a human s nature. When
most people think of humanity, they would think of it as having the emotional right to feel for
others, compassion and morally good behaviors. While I do agree with this, in regard to this film, I
view humanity as the total opposite. With the world evolving and changing every day, the
definition of humanity has no exact answer. I would align the broad term of humanity with the
phrase survival of the fittest, meaning that a person would do anything it takes to survive in this
world. In the film The Secret of NIMH, it uses various animals to show many different perspectives
of humanity that people have on a humans nature. While characters such... Show more content on

risks that she would take in order to save her children and her home. By her going out of her way
to protect her loved ones, this shows the loving and determined characteristics she has as a mother
which could possibly be described as being humane.
Another character that many people may say have various aspects of humanity is Sullivan.
Personally, Sullivan is a very interesting character in my opinion. Sullivan is Jenner s gullible,
reluctant sidekick and temperamental pushover. Although he may seem very vulnerable, Jenner
has a significant identity of his own. For example in the scene where the rats of NIMH were in
the council chamber discussing their ideas about relocating to Thorn Valley, Sullivan was very
intense and passionate about his opinions and he was not afraid to robustly voice them at all. I
would also describe Sullivan s position in this movie as an anti villain due to his nervous and
hesitant reactions when he and Jenner concocts the plan to kill Nicodemus. Jenner takes full
advantage of Sullivan s weakness and manipulates him until Sullivan has change of mind during the
act of killing Nicodemus. Many people could argue that Sullivan s neutral position and his change
of heart in order to do the right thing justifies that he

Hamlet uses Hecuba to exaggerate the difference between the queen in the play who is full of
grief and sorrow, and Queen Gertrude who has remarried quickly and shows little to no emotion
for the death of her first husband. Another example occurs during Hamlet s soliloquy when he
imagines his mother, Like Niobe, all tears (Ham. I. ii. 151). Hamlet not only wishes his mother
would mourn and take revenge, but he also implies responsibility for his father s death. In Greek
mythology, Niobe boasted she had many children and as a result, the gods came down and
murdered her children. Painters and sculptures have portrayed Niobe as a crying woman because
of her guilt she felt knowing she caused her children to die. The fact that Hamlet uses these
comparisons suggests his mother is undoubtedly responsible for his father s death. Finish and relate

Hamlet also compares himself to the demi god Hercules in Act 1 scene 2: My father s brother but
no more like my father/ Than I to Hercules (I, ii, 152 153). This mythological allusion is important
because Hamlet is comparing himself to Hercules who is known as a strong warrior and earned
a place on Mount Olympus with the gods. Hamlet is saying that his uncle is very much different
than his father, like Hamlet is very much different than Hercules. Hercules is seen as a superhero
of Greek mythology, which is a great difference of Hamlet because Hamlet is in no way seen as a
superhero or someone to look up to. Hamlet

Purpose Of Virginia Woolf
The author I have chosen is Virginia Woolf because I found her a very interesting woman. She is
an English author who wrote modernist classics and in 1915 she published her first novel called
The Voyage Out. She did not attend to the school, instead, she was taught at home; the first thing
she started to write was a family newspaper called the Hyde Park Gate News, in which she
recorded all the funny moments her family spent.
With the death of her mother, she went to King s College in London where she studied in
German, Greek and Latin at the Ladies Department. It was there where she became a radical

died, and as a result she was in a deep depression, which was the cause of her suicide in 1941.

Labor Unions And The Civil War Essay
Labor unions have existed in one way or another since the birth of our country in 1776. They
were created in an effort to protect the working population from abuses such as sweatshops and
unsafe working conditions. From the start of our Nation there were a few unions organized
unions in a scattered fashion, but many were disbanded after they had achieved their goals, such
as when the printers and shoemakers briefly unionized in Philadelphia and New York City in
1778 to conduct the first recorded strike for higher wages. Three years later in 1971 the first
successful strike happened, when Philadelphia carpenters campaigned for a ten hour workday.
This caused the need for skilled and unskilled laborers to skyrocket during the Industrial
Revolution and the Civil War and also got the ball rolling with Labor unions. At this point in our
Country, there had been nothing done yet for workers rights, conditions, pay, and so on. People
at this time saw that they could come together and do something to make their lives better for
themselves and their families. Many of these dates were important in shaping our country s
labor policies into what they are today. In 1847 New Hampshire enacts as the first state to
enforce a 10 hour workday law. In 1909 the International Ladies Garment workers Union calls a
strike in New York, demanding a 20 percent raise and a 52 hour workweek. Within two days, more
than 20,000 workers from 500 factories walk off the job. This largely successful uprising

The Theme Of Power In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury

English Pd. 6
The Veldt Thematic Essay When considering reasons for a power or control shift in a relationship
between a parent and child, one of the most common reasons considered is the fact that parents are
giving kids too much too soon. As a parent gives these things, literal objects and figurative things,
too soon, they are actually letting the power in their relationship shift and giving the kids more
control. In The Veldt, the author, Ray Bradbury, emphasizes the theme with dialogue and tone. In
the short story, George and Lydia Hadley, and their two children Peter and Wendy, are living in a
smart house, where almost everything gets done for them. The quote, But I thought we that s
why we bought this house, so we wouldn t have to do anything? shows how little they have to do
to have everything nice and keep a good home. The children have grown up not doing anything;
they do not even paint their own pictures. The children do not do their own laundry, make their
own beds, or bathe themselves. Their lives are so simple, and all they spend their days doing is
looking, listening, and smelling. The children enjoy not participating in life, but merely spectating
it. Peter and Wendy not only get this literally, but they also figuratively get the freedom to come
and go as they please. Now, they may enjoy all of these things, but each thing or freedom which

detailed analysis of the competitive forces noted in Exhibit 2. The rivalry among existing
competitors is strong. It is becoming increasingly harder to develop new and unique products
based solely around a small niche activity. There are only so many aspects of yoga that can be
explored and that products can be developed to accompany. Although Lululemon was the first, new
competitors are seeing the profit to be had in this niche market and are entering with the goal of
creating new more creative strategies to compete with Lululemon and take part of their large market
share. (Morning Star) The threat of new entrants is moderate. Although this niche market is

Analysis On Monteverdi s Il Ritorno DUlisse In Patria
Analysis on Monteverdi s Il Ritorno d Ulisse in Patria For my term paper topic, I have decided
to write on a lesser known opera that Claudio Monteverdi wrote in 1640 called Il Ritorno d
Ulisse in Patria which according to Edith Hall, is based on some parts of Homer s famous Epic,
the Odyssey, specifically on the second half of the book. I chose to write about a work by
Monteverdi because I really enjoyed learning about how he incorporated some of the classics into
his operas, such as in L Orfeo and L incoronazione di Poppea. Due to the lengthy nature of this
work, I have decided to focus my attention on the selection that I found the most interesting which
was the Prologo (Prologue), also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because those singers were capable of singing higher pitches than regular male singers, that is
why it was not unusual for Monteverdi to include a male soprano part in Il Ritorno d Ulisse in
Patria. It would be unusual for audiences today though because higher vocal ranges are typically
associated with female singers. That one character, who actually turned out to be the only male
soprano role, goes by the name of Human Frailty. I do not know why Monteverdi included only
one male soprano character, especially considering the popularity of castrati during his time, but
I m wondering if he may have made that character that way in order to somehow be gender
neutral because both genders experience weaknesses in life. According to Professor Michael
Ewan of the University of Newcastle, story editing was required during the Renaissance era
because during that time, extreme violence and impropriety did not belong on stage. Due to
those reasons, that is why Monteverdi s Noble Musical Play L Orfeo had some variations in the
ending. In Il Ritorno d Ulisse in Patria, Monteverdi also did some editing, but in a different sense.
In the prologo, he decided to change poet Giacomo Badoaro s original text with his own. This
version, which supported Fate, Prudence, and Fortitude, was more allegorical in nature, celebrated
the power of fate, and shows Fortune

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Tom Ripley is a talented imitator, it seems the only person Tom cannot quite comprehend is
himself. Ripley isolates himself from people by being non isolated, he finds himself in very social
situations, yet he does not quite understand how one should be in social interactions. However
people find themselves attracted to him because he is so great at acting and reading peopleand
learning how to manipulate them into believing that he is not actually socially alienated, he
somehow becomes the life of the party. Tom Ripleywas such a fantastic impostor he would
sometimes find himself lost in one of his characters that he was putting on. In the film it starts with
him playing the piano at a wedding filling in for a young man that went to Princeton, after meeting
Mr. Greenleaf he kept up the same character from Princeton. Tom had been very friendly last
summer with a Princeton junior who had talked of nothing but Princeton, so that Tom had finally
pumped him for more and more, foreseeing a time when he might be able to use the information
(Highsmith, 21). Ripley was always remembering information from different people he met
assuming that if need be he could pull out that information in sticky situations. One thingabout Tom
Ripley was that he found himself in sticky situations more often then some, this left him feeling
paranoid that people were after him at all times. This is no way to live life, especially when the
way you want to live your life is behind the curtains.

Nina Simone s Song Four Women
In the song Four Women by Nina Simone one could depict about four different types of
stereotypical images of women. To start off the song started with a woman named Aunt Sarah. She
had woolly hair and could take inflicted pain. During the slave era, a woman referred to Aunt was
also called Mammy. This would be the womenwho does the household duties, very submissive,
illiterate and is portraits as overweight. Another would be the Jezebel, also referred to in modern
days as a gold digger. In the song, she has mouth like wine , and is very curvaceous and is called
sweet thing (Four women). The stereotype is the Renegade, angry loud, tends to emasculate men,
and also referred to as sassy mammy. In the song she was called Peaches, awfully bitter

Truman Watergate Doctrine
Harry Truman became president of the United States In 1945 after the death of Roosevelt. He
played an instrumental role in the remainder of the world war. There were notable events that
happened while he was in office. One was when the British pulled out of Greece when they had a
civil war. Truman lobbied for a $400 million package, through the Truman doctrine, to aid Greece
and Turkey so as to evade the control of the Soviets. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was
founded (NATO) during his time with the aim of resisting communist expansion. A few years later,
he signed the mutual security act stating that the U.S will provide military aid to non communist
nations. (Sibley)
Dwight D. Eisenhower became president after Truman the same year Joseph Stalin dies. In the
same year, the central intelligence agency is responsible for assisting a coup that sees the prime
minister of Iran, Mohammed Mosadded, ousted. Years later, the president signs the Eisenhower
doctrine that explains the United States stand on defending Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan from
communist powers. It was under Eisenhower that NASA is formed, to begin exploration while in ...

Effectiveness of Portable Devices in Communication
A portable system is generally a personal, small and lightweight hardware product,
Designed to be used when one is on the move , and it is temporarily independent of an External
electric power supply. They are usually characterized by their Portability, Easy to pack and move
and they are wearable. They may include; Personal digital assistant, Enterprise digital assistant,
Wearable computer, Smartphone, Laptops, Calculators and eBook readers.
Portable systems support computing and communication activities where they are defined by their
design for mobile users, and from an ergonomic point of view they are not homogeneous. Some
portable systems are designed for outdoor use and hence they can be used during adverse
environmental conditions Huber, 2002).
Mobile technology allows companies to have an unprecedented level of connectivity between
employees, vendors, and their customers. Applications on mobile devices allow people to connect
with others through social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Web based applications
are used to enable direct communication with audiences in a variety of ways (Schwartz, 2005)..
Use of real time communication can be important in improving customer service in a business and
the staff time is spent efficiently. A customer or company uses such devices to make quotations and
interactive order processing. Due to the interactive nature of the portable systems, information
exchange through this medium advocates for an immediate

The World Order s And Private Institution
Over 20 percent of the global population live in unsustainable impoverished conditions, surviving
on less than a dollar a day, with approximately 50 percent living on less than two dollars. Over 2
ВЅ billion people have a 10% infant mortality rate versus the 0.006% of infant deaths in
developed countries. As conditions worsen the poor rich gap widens through progressive
decades, reaching an average per capita income of 74:1 in 1997. A debate has emerged as the
whether developed countries possess a duty to ameliorate the living condition of the global poor
and on what grounds said duty is justified. This inquiry prompts an ethical analysis of the world

Finally, I will critically analyze and disprove the counter argument, which attempts to relieve us
of the aforementioned duties, by discrediting the roles of institutions and the developed in
prolongation of impoverishment. Elements of Pogge s philosophical argument will also be
addressed, though the overall arguments of this paper take a differentiated approach in justifying
the acceptance of Western Society s obligation to the global poor. There exists a global order that
proclaims its primary purpose is to facilitate cooperation between rich and poor nations. The
presence of said order creates an uneven distribution of advantage among nations, an imbalance
sometimes thought to be the result of an array of independent factors. Mathias Risse suggests the
global order harms third world nations through Uncompensated Exclusion; where privileged
countries are given several advantages over the worse off in regards to natural resources. Here the
benefits of the impoverished are minimal. This defies the moral rule of Egalitarian Ownership,
which describes all natural resources as belonging to all humankind. By denying the global poor an
equal portion of natural resources during international commerce the order violates their people s
human right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of oneself and one s
family, including food, clothing, housing and

Multilingualism and European Commission
About 250 million years ago, Pangæa the supercontinent was split up and eventually settled on the
current continental configuration. As civilization flourished, the inhabitants developed their own
language and culture on each continent. However, trading and getting along with the neighboring
communities forced many groups to learn more than their mother tongue. This pragmatic use of
multilingualism is especially evident in Sub Saharan Africa. Today, the benefits of mastering more
than one language has influenced other continents such as Europeto incorporate multilingualism
into its society. Consequently, in the world s population, multilingual speakers outnumber
monolingual spealers. Despite being so close to Quebec and Mexico,... Show more content on

Consequently, multilingualism can unlock the full potential of the single market in terms of better
jobs and prosperity (European Commission). Given the appropriate environment, people tend to
pick up a new language easily at a young age. Multilingualism doesn t require complete fluency in
another language, or the ability to speak two unrelated languages. The benefits of multilingualism
are so stupendous that they extend outside the area of language. Children and elders learning a
foreign language have been demonstrated to be consistently better able to deal with distractions,
like holding two languages concurrently without allowing words and grammar slip from one to
another (Bialystok). Multilingual speakers also develop a greater vocabulary size over time
(Kosmidis), a markedly better language proficiency in, sensitivity to, and understanding of their
mother tongue (Johnson), and have a better ear for listening and sharper memories (Lapkin, Ratte).
Furthermore, evidence has shown that skill in several languages fosters creativity and innovation:
multilingual people are aware that problems can be tackled in different ways according to different
linguistic and cultural backgrounds (European Commission). They can use this ability to find new
solutions. Ultimately, United States needs to acknowledge that the social,

Macbeth Rait Castle Essay
J. M. Barrie expressed that A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is
a whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch
rises. Ghosts were created when the first man woke in the night . The unknown is a terrifying
notion, as many people are afraid of what they cannot explain. There are many haunted locations
in Scotland where the Shakespearean play Macbeth takes place, and many of which are
considered the most haunted places on earth. Several of these places are castles that were once
lived in, and had terrible events unfold within their walls. Such as murderous deeds and betrayal,
much like the play when Macbeth kills his king and his best friend to secure the crown.... Show

The Rait Castle was built in the fourteenth century in Cawdor, by the Cummings family. In 1165
the castle was granted to Saw Mackintosh, the son of Duncan Macduff and later served the
crown. When his father passed the castle was given to Angus which lead to him losing the land
to the Cummings family. This caused a feud between the two families for many years. In a
deceiving act one of the Cummings daughters told the Mackintosh s about a murder that was
going to take place of the leader of the Mackintosh s family, and the Mackintosh s ambushes
before the Cummings could ( Rait Castle ). Legend says that the chief of the Cummings family
fled upstairs to escape the massacre, and found the daughter that betrayed the family. As she tried
to flee out of the window he cuts off her hands as she hung from it ( Rait Castle ). The castle is
now reported to be haunted by her ghostly figure with no hands, as she still wears the blood stained
clothes. Her ghost is a haunting reminder of the past events that took place in this castle, where
many people died because of a little feud. Her presence is a reminder to people that betrayal
comes with a cause and even though she lost her life, she still did the right thing and maybe saved
some people s lives in return for her

Sample Letter For The Brochure
Unit 12 Evaluation for the Brochure
The aim of the brochure was to inform the tourists about the best places to visit Newcastle upon
Tyne. I included information about Nightlife, Shopping, Entertainment and Food, which I included
with useful information. I am not allowed to use the font style Arial and Times New Roman. Also,
the other decisions, which were made will be specified whilst I am discussing the pages.
After the initial client meeting and subsequent meetings for designs I began work on the CRC of
the document.
I will evaluate the layout and content of my brochure against the client brief and the questionnaire,
which I gave the client to answer. The page layout for each page is A4. At first I divided the pages
into three section, this made it more appealing and stand out. This is through including images,
information and designing the page. The purpose of this is because I wanted to ensure the
information and the sizes of the images fills the page. This is because I wanted to make it more
different and appealing, which is significant. The information is placed in a rectangular or square
box and it fits the whole A4 page. The purpose of this was to make it stand out, which would
encourage the reader s to carry on reading the brochure. The point size of the texts varies this
depends if it is the subheading, heading or body text and this is to make some information stand
out more than others. For instance, make the heading stand out so the reader s are aware

Personal Sacrifice In A Tale Of Two Cities
Sydney Carton provides the novel with the essential theme of personal sacrifice is required to

Why Is Violence Become Such Part Of The Transnational Drug...
Why has violence become such part of the transnational drug culture? The violence is a topic
widely discussed in different journalistic media: newspapers, magazines, radio and television
programs, as well as being a topic of debate among State officials; however, we have so far been
able to say who we are organized on the left. Maybe because we do not consider it to be the main
problem of the people abuse in the country, perhaps because it is a problem that we consider to
be foreign, or permanently in the official discourse. However at this point it is undeniable that
there is currently a situation in our country in which drug trafficking and the increase of social
violence linked to it have reached a level such that it is difficult to continue to elude the
discussion; Moreover, it is important that we use our own analytical tools to explain it, in my case
I will use the best analytical tool we have so far, Marxism.
On the other hand I have to clarify that I do this writing by way of essay because I consider that
the journalistic information about the drug cartels, their rivalries, operations and composition is not
reliable. In most cases they are reports and leaks of a police character, rumors and sayings of the
involved ones that result in the end; confusing, contradictory and deceptive.
Thus, my purpose will be to point out some structural and essential aspects for the understanding of
the problem, regardless of the concrete analysis of such a business .

  • 2. The Nintendo Entertainment System Which is Best? Theres different types of motion used in many gaming systems. You can be standing, sitting down, using controllers, or not using any controllers at all. There are at least many different types of movement motions involved in both types of electronics made by different companies. The Kinect may have more free motion, but the Wii seems more enjoyable for families to use and have fun. The Nintendo Entertainment System was introduced in 1985 which became an instant hit, selling over sixty million units. In 2006, Nintendo introduced the Wii and with it contained more advanced, revolutionary features. The Wii contained wireless motion sensitive remote controllers, built in Wi Fi capability (Nintendo), and a lot of other features that made it the best selling in the world. As for the Kinect; introduced by the company of Xbox 360 in 2010. With Kinect for the Xbox, you can command and control the Kinect with the use of your voice and gestures, and play games where you are the controller (Xbox). In theses ads, both companies are trying to target families with the use of ethos, pathos, and logos. The companies try to sell their product by using other families in the ad to catch the eyes of others on why they should by the Kinect or the Wii. In the Kinect Ad, it shows the emotion, also known as pathos, of the two girls on the couch, smiling but their not even playing, and the two guys that are playing are not ... • 3. Similarities Between Harrisonson Hargeron And Harrison... 2081 PROJECT How can we tell if a character in a book is a Christ figure? Harrison Bergeron is an appropriate example. He went through and done things that Christ had done such as being persecuted for his faith, carried a beam of wood on his shoulders, and came to rescue the unqualified world. Harrison was taken away from home and went through series of rough treatment. He was terrorized for his beliefs, as with Jesus when He suffered the same way. In addition, the story reads, he wore earphones that dulled his intelligence, weights that strapped him to decrease his strength, wavy glasses that made him half blind, and a wooden beam on his shoulders to cut his mobility. Coincidentally, Jesus had to carry a wooden cross on His shoulder to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beside the differences, Harrisson was killed for his actions on both story and movie including the fact that he stated on how the Handicap General treated and handled him. At the end, Harrison was relatively different between the story and the movie although there were similarities. The differences between George Bergeron and I are striking, and we deserve a thorough investigation. We are separate in two ways: intelligence quotient and physical appearance. George lives with his wife, Hazel in an era where there s nothing, but equality. His son, Harrison was taken away by the HG men, due to his mental and physical potential. In both story and the movie, George is shown to have handicaps and earphones, signally that he is mentally more capable of having an extremely high intelligence quotient; while I on the other hand, does have an average intelligence quotient, but not as smart or as elevated as George. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. It is not very clear that George is fairly aged in the story, but the movie says else wise. In my head, it seemed as if George was younger than the movie version of him. Through the movie, George is physically displayed as a balding, aged man with the looks of a seventy or an eighty year old man. George often goes into deep thought about various things that in which can get him shocked from the Government. On the other hand, I love to go into deep thought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Masculinity In In Bad Neighbours Media, especially Hollywood Film, has been one of the foremost vehicles for the perpetuation of masculine hegemony, not only in the West, but the world over. Much of our behavioural cues are taken from what we observe on screen. The question of whether or not life imitates art is central in attempting to understand how our desires come to exist in the first place, and to what degree these desires are natural, or a byproduct of the incessant behavioural suggestions we consume via the screen. The concept of what is masculine is not cut and dried, but Hollywood has had a way of portraying a clear hegemonically ideal manhe is suave, intelligent, usually wealthy (or at least highly agentic by other means such as sheer force of presence); he... • 5. Individuality In The Wall In 1977, while on the Flesh Tour with Pink Floyd, Roger Waters conceived and wrote the elegant rock opera, The Wall. His motivation for doing so was an increased distaste for the crassness of the audiences during the tour. Waters himself attests that the album is fundamentally anti war, but also claims that it is an elaborate allegory for the metaphorical wall he felt society was building for itself. On several occasions, Waters has stated that he has often felt disconnected with the audiences of his shows as if there were a wall separating him from them. American society has placed an increasing emphasis on individuality since the turn of the century. Throughout The Wall, Rogers revisits this sense of hyper individuality with an isolationist and elitist attitude of mine is better than yours, but you cannot share mine. Individuality is the crux of the postmodern world and Rogers embraces it as a groundbreaking artist while rejecting its notion in society creating a profound paradox.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story of The Wall is of protagonist, Pink, supposedly a character loosely based off of Pink Floyd s late front man, Syd Barret and Roger Waters, himself. In the 53 song journey, Pink is born, abused by the universe and in the last song, Run Like Hell, Pink solidifies his fate with placing the final brick in the wall he has been building around himself his entire existence. While Pink is merely a product of the cruel environment he was brought up in, his isolationism becomes his poison. With the last brick in his wall, Pink has lost everything including his sanity and his once beloved wife. Waters here references that when one separates themselves from the rest of the world, whether it be fear, distrust, hatred, or intolerance, more harm is being done than good. The consequences for society that behaves in this fashion are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Love is a Weakness in Shakespeare s Works Love is blind, and lovers cannot see says Shakespeare about love. The fact that love incapacitates people made him think like that. Indeed people in love do many things which actually they did not want to do, say many things which they didn t have to say, didn t see things that they had to see. These impossibilities make people weak. Life and other people always use especially those weaknesses for hurting or damaging someone, also this weakness makes them open to take advantage of them by other people. Shakespeare recognizes that and makes adaptation to his writings. He shows us the how characters find themselves in a conflict which lovecaused. He always gives us the impression of Love is weakness . Revenge, love, faith... These feelings are the foundations of the Much Ado about Nothing which is one of the rare comedies written out by Shakespeare. It maintains its importance even though four and half centuries passed after it s been written. Surely most important factor of this success is its cleverly fictionalized plot. Shakespeare gives us the chance to observe the behaviors and moves of people when they faced something wrong with their love or lover. We can easily recognize that most wise and logical person can move unconsciously when it comes to love. For example, Claudio and Hero s love is one the best example at this point. The royal, gentleman and brave character of the play is undoubtedly Claudio. When he learns that Hero cheated on him, that romantic guy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A company or its product/ services which constantly holds a favorable image by the public, would definitely gain a better position in the market, sustainable competitive advantage, and increase market share or performance (Park, Jaworski, MacInnis, 1986). In addition, several empirical findings have confirmed that a favorable image (i.e. brand, store /retail) will lead to loyalty (e.g. Koo, 2003; Kandampully Suhartanto, 2000; Nguyen LeBlanc, 1998), brand equity (Faircloth, Capella, Alford, 2001; Biel, 1992; Aaker, 1991; Keller, 1993), purchase behavior (Hsieh et al., 2004) and brand performance (Roth, 1995). Reynolds (1965) noted that an image is the mental construct developed by the consumer on the basis of a few selected impressions among the flood of the total impressions; it comes into being through a creative process in which these selected impressions are elaborated, embellished, and ordered (p. 69). Cushing syndrome is a clinical syndrome associated with an excess of glucocorticoids(GCs), due either to elevated levels of endogenous cortisol or exogenous use of glucocorticoid medications such as prednisone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone, and betamethasone. Common signs and symptoms include altered fat deposition (including moon facies and buffalo hump , referring to fat deposition in the face and the upper back), weight gain, hypertension, striae, acne, hyperglycemia, and central muscle weakness. Treatment involves cessation of glucocorticoid therapy, though a taper is crucial, as abrupt withdrawal can lead to acute adrenal insufficiency and shock. In non endocrine disorders, GCs are commonly given in pharmacologic (therapeutic) doses to suppress inflammation. In endocrine disorders, however, corticosteroid doses are often given at or close to physiologic doses (rather than in therapeutic ranges). GC associated toxicity appears to be related to both the average dose and cumulative duration of GC use. However, for most GC related adverse events, threshold dose or treatment duration has not been established. Choice A is not the best answer. While a proper diet and exercise program is ... However, Cushing syndrome is much more commonly secondary to exogenous glucocorticoids rather than endogenous glucocorticoids; therefore, stopping the patient s prednisone use should be the first step. These are the words of Socrates on change and the human energy it may take to embrace it. One culture that experienced significant change was the Ibo culture and its people. The novel Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, clearly demonstrates the changes that took place in the Ibo culture to a Western audience. By following the life of many dynamic characters throughout the story, Achebe is able show the reader what the Ibo culture entails. In the stories, The Necklace and The rights to the Streets of Memphis the character s choices, and how well they make them, depend on how the characters end up. While some may say the characters were affected more by chance, the characters in The Necklace, and The Rights to the Streetsof Memphis were ultimately affected by their actions because when Richardchose to man up and stand up for himself in front of the boys he got his money back, Richard decided he did not want to stay out in the streets until he fought those boys just like Madame Loisel decided she did not want to live a poor lifestyle for any longer , and Madame Loisel s greed and desire for wealth ironically caused her to live a poor lifestyle. In the story The Necklace, Madame Loisel and her husband were poor and not wealthy. But Madame Loisel did not enjoy being poor and wanted to live a rich and wealthy lifestyle. While her husband did not mind living the poor lifestyle they lived and did not care if they were rich or not. Minor characters are present in a novel to affect the major characters and help the character development of the major characters. Minor characters influence the major characters in many ways. One of these ways of supporting the major characters, is the victimization of the minor characters. Two excellent examples of minor characters that impact the major characters of the novels due to the minor characters being victimized is Nacha in Like Water for Chocolateby Laura Esquivel and Monica in Silence by Shusaku Endo. From this small yet generous offer made by Monica, Father Rodrigues reflected on his mission to Japan. Since coming to this country, he reflected, he had caused nothing but hardship to these poor Christians, and he nibbled at the cucumber with his front teeth. He had received from them the little hut in which he had dwelt, they had given him the clothing he now wore, he had eaten their food. Now it was his turn to give them something. But what could he give? The only thing he had to offer was his life and his death (Endo 81). Monica was already malnourished, yet she selflessly offered her only food to Father Rodrigues, a man she had never encountered before. This was huge to Father Rodrigues and it made him question what he can do to help her in return. Monica?s impact and the victimization made Father Rodrigues question whether or not his coming to Japan really worth it or not. He realized that he had only created more hardships for the Christian peasants that he had encountered throughout Japan. However, at the same time, Father Rodrigues also realized that many of the Christians looked up to him and were thankful that Father Rodrigues would try to come and help them. • 14. The First Jewish Roman War As briefly stated in the previous section of this paper, John was writing to both Jewish and Gentile Christians, post the First Jewish Roman war. The era of his writing and the audience to which he was writing greatly affected what he was communicating with this passage of Scripture. The logos in the 90 s CE would have been understood by Greeks through a Platonic and Stoic worldview as a mediatory means between the divine and human realms or as the reason , the force by which the universe was structured. Philo, a first century philosopher combined this understanding of the logos with the Jewish conception of wisdom personified. Before the writings of John s Gospel, the Jewish writings personified Wisdom as a divine mediator of God s person and intent (see Proverbs 8:27; 29 30; 35 36). One can see how language like this shapes and forms the understanding of Jesusthat John wanted to convey to his audience. The Hellenistic audience, influenced by Plato would see Jesus as the mediating agent between heaven and earth, which was confirmed by Jesus in John 1:51, while Jewish readers would understand the Word of God through an Old Testament worldview as God in action, specifically in creation, revelation and deliverance. Craig Keener talks of John s usage of logos in this way, By calling Jesus the Word, John calls him the embodiment of all God s revelation in the Scriptures and thus declares that only those who accept Jesus honor the law, fully (1:17). The Reality Of Women s Soccer Isabel Cesarotti Dr. Barron ENC 1101 12 September 2016 The Reality of Women s Soccer One of the clearest memories I have is of the day when my mom sat me down, looked me in the eye and said to me that as a women in this world, I was going to have to work ten times harder as any man to command respect. She told me that as a woman in this world, there are certain inevitabilities I have to accept. The main one is that life is unfair. She said that accomplishments are inevitably going to be handed to men that you feel you worked hard for and deserved. This, she said, was going to sometimes make me feel outraged or bitter, and oftentimes make me feel worthless. She said, however, the most important thing that I must do is simply put away my pride, roll my shoulders, stiffen my lip and work harder than anyone. In that way, I can succeed. But what if after succeeding, after working harder, longer and more intensely than everyone else, you achieve the most you can in your career and realize that your hard work is meaningless? Meaningless because you simply do not get the same respect as your male counterparts. Many professional woman soccer players are currently experience this heart wrenching feeling. However, I as a university facilities project manager, have a different sort of team; one consisting of individuals from different firms brought together to complete a building project. How might the principles of team building be utilized in my team consisting of end user group (who will occupy the building), facilities operations staff, architect, and contractor or construction manager? The construction industry has utilized a concept called partnering on large projects with the goal of creating a cooperative environment to minimize conflicts which could result in claims or litigation (GSA 2016). It is hoped to achieve this goal by creating an environment of trust and open communication among the participants. Caltrans is a strong advocate of partnering; requiring the process on all projects over $10 million (Caltrans 2013). They have an admirable field guide and partnering training program. We also have PMI s Project ManagementBook of Knowledge providing guidance in developing a project management plan (PMP). The PMP documents much of what is covered in partnering sessions. Emmett wanted to visit family in Mississippi although Mama and Mamie were very hesitant. They tried to educate Emmett the dangers of a black person in the South. Emmett was born in Chicago, and was not aware of the type of racism blacks endured in the South. Unfortunately, due to Emmett s heath complications when he started to stutter Emmett would whistle. A black male whistling at a white woman during this time of age was prohibited. Mamie educated Emmett before he left that he should not even walk on the same side of the street as a white woman. Emmett apparently whistled at a white woman while in a store. This led to white racists kidnapping him in the middle of the night and inhumanly murdered Emmett on August 28, 1955. Mamie chose to have an open casket funeral for Emmett. Though it was hard for her to turn her privacy of grieving the loss of her son, she chose to turn this into a public issue. In other words, what Kandinsky said means that colors can be used to evoque very different types of emotions and ideas. Colors always have a deeper meaning than what they are actually used for, no matter if it is used in art or in literature. The classical dystopian novel We, which was published in 1924 by Yevgeny Zamyatin, is a great example of a work of literature that uses colorimagery. Throughout the whole novel, Zamyatin uses the color yellow to symbolize complexity and rebellion, which are qualities from the primitive and ancient world, that United State tries to suppress. One of the main ways Zamyatin uses this color is in connection to I 330, who is the second main female character that is introduced into the book and D 503 s first love interest. The first time I 330 s association with yellow appeared in this story is in Record Six, when D 503 visited I 330 for the first time at the Ancient House, the only building in the entire society that is not made out of glass. In this scene, I 330 went to a room and came out dressed in short, bright yellowish dress, black hat, black stockings (28). The bright yellow dress described in this scene is a relic from ancient times, before the Green Wall was built and two hundred year war occured. Seeing I 330 in this attire definitely made a very big impression on him because it was the first time ever that D 503 personally interacted with the primitive world. This interaction with her had such a deep effect on D 503 that he even sees and mentions the color yellow, when I 330 is not around, mostly when he feels he is doing something against the state. I 330 is the only character that takes on different shades of the color yellow. As portrayed in Record Seventeen, while D 503 searched for I 330 in the Ancient House, he fell into one of its mystery corridor and he found himself with the doctor that had previously given him a letter that excused him from work. While waiting for I 330 he recalled the familiar saffron yellow silk, the smile bite, the eyes with their curtains drawn (93). This description shows another dress from the ancient world in the same color as the first, but in a darker shade. The fact that yellow is one of the only color that takes on different shades means that it is complex, and that there are more dimensions to it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But that may change if they know that they have a much higher risk of having a motor accident than adult drivers. In the United States, driving accidents are a leading cause of death among teenagers. These accidents happen mostly in populated cities. This problem has caused each state to have its own drivinglaws for teens. Although this problem is already a priority in many states, it should get more attention from the general public, especially teens. It is important for people to know about driving laws because these laws can help establish safe driving habits. California laws that attempt to decrease teen caused auto accidentsinclude establishing a minimum age for passengers of teenage drivers. In California, a new driver cannot transport anyone who is under 20 years of age unless a licensed adult is also in the vehicle. Another effective law in California requires teen drivers to have at least 50 hours of supervised driving during the learner s permit stage. This law is effective because it allows teens to learn how to drive safely on the road with the help of an experienced driver. Although some laws are effective, teens are still known to cause accidents. Protein channels are a type of passive transport because they use facilitated diffusion to pass into cellular membrane which is the process of a molecule usually a sugar or amino acid is placed on a binding site of that protein which makes the protein change shape or open its channeling, which allows the molecule to enter the cell otherwise facilitating the process, no ATP is involved in this process. 3.ATP is the molecule that is used for the energy source for active transport. Throughout the play, Hamlet uses many mythological allusions to show his feelings towards other characters such as Claudius, Gertrude and the old king as well as inform us of his fall . Hamlet uses Hecuba to exaggerate the difference between the queen in the play who is full of grief and sorrow, and Queen Gertrude who has remarried quickly and shows little to no emotion for the death of her first husband. Another example occurs during Hamlet s soliloquy when he imagines his mother, Like Niobe, all tears (Ham. I. ii. 151). Hamlet not only wishes his mother would mourn and take revenge, but he also implies responsibility for his father s death. In Greek mythology, Niobe boasted she had many children and as a result, the gods came down and murdered her children. Painters and sculptures have portrayed Niobe as a crying woman because of her guilt she felt knowing she caused her children to die. The fact that Hamlet uses these comparisons suggests his mother is undoubtedly responsible for his father s death. Finish and relate to thesis Hamlet also compares himself to the demi god Hercules in Act 1 scene 2: My father s brother but no more like my father/ Than I to Hercules (I, ii, 152 153). This mythological allusion is important because Hamlet is comparing himself to Hercules who is known as a strong warrior and earned a place on Mount Olympus with the gods. Hamlet is saying that his uncle is very much different than his father, like Hamlet is very much different than Hercules. Hercules is seen as a superhero of Greek mythology, which is a great difference of Hamlet because Hamlet is in no way seen as a superhero or someone to look up to. Hamlet ... She is an English author who wrote modernist classics and in 1915 she published her first novel called The Voyage Out. She did not attend to the school, instead, she was taught at home; the first thing she started to write was a family newspaper called the Hyde Park Gate News, in which she recorded all the funny moments her family spent. • 36. Labor Unions And The Civil War Essay Labor unions have existed in one way or another since the birth of our country in 1776. They were created in an effort to protect the working population from abuses such as sweatshops and unsafe working conditions. From the start of our Nation there were a few unions organized unions in a scattered fashion, but many were disbanded after they had achieved their goals, such as when the printers and shoemakers briefly unionized in Philadelphia and New York City in 1778 to conduct the first recorded strike for higher wages. Three years later in 1971 the first successful strike happened, when Philadelphia carpenters campaigned for a ten hour workday. This caused the need for skilled and unskilled laborers to skyrocket during the Industrial Revolution and the Civil War and also got the ball rolling with Labor unions. At this point in our Country, there had been nothing done yet for workers rights, conditions, pay, and so on. People at this time saw that they could come together and do something to make their lives better for themselves and their families. Many of these dates were important in shaping our country s labor policies into what they are today. In 1847 New Hampshire enacts as the first state to enforce a 10 hour workday law. In 1909 the International Ladies Garment workers Union calls a strike in New York, demanding a 20 percent raise and a 52 hour workweek. Within two days, more than 20,000 workers from 500 factories walk off the job. This largely successful uprising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. The Theme Of Power In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury Julia Sherman November 10, 2017 English Pd. 6 The Veldt Thematic Essay When considering reasons for a power or control shift in a relationship between a parent and child, one of the most common reasons considered is the fact that parents are giving kids too much too soon. As a parent gives these things, literal objects and figurative things, too soon, they are actually letting the power in their relationship shift and giving the kids more control. In The Veldt, the author, Ray Bradbury, emphasizes the theme with dialogue and tone. In the short story, George and Lydia Hadley, and their two children Peter and Wendy, are living in a smart house, where almost everything gets done for them. The quote, But I thought we that s why we bought this house, so we wouldn t have to do anything? shows how little they have to do to have everything nice and keep a good home. The children have grown up not doing anything; they do not even paint their own pictures. The children do not do their own laundry, make their own beds, or bathe themselves. Their lives are so simple, and all they spend their days doing is looking, listening, and smelling. The children enjoy not participating in life, but merely spectating it. Peter and Wendy not only get this literally, but they also figuratively get the freedom to come and go as they please. Now, they may enjoy all of these things, but each thing or freedom which Wendy and Peter receive is another piece of power that the parents once had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I chose to write about a work by Monteverdi because I really enjoyed learning about how he incorporated some of the classics into his operas, such as in L Orfeo and L incoronazione di Poppea. Because those singers were capable of singing higher pitches than regular male singers, that is why it was not unusual for Monteverdi to include a male soprano part in Il Ritorno d Ulisse in Patria. It would be unusual for audiences today though because higher vocal ranges are typically associated with female singers. That one character, who actually turned out to be the only male soprano role, goes by the name of Human Frailty. I do not know why Monteverdi included only one male soprano character, especially considering the popularity of castrati during his time, but I m wondering if he may have made that character that way in order to somehow be gender neutral because both genders experience weaknesses in life. According to Professor Michael Ewan of the University of Newcastle, story editing was required during the Renaissance era because during that time, extreme violence and impropriety did not belong on stage. Due to those reasons, that is why Monteverdi s Noble Musical Play L Orfeo had some variations in the ending. In Il Ritorno d Ulisse in Patria, Monteverdi also did some editing, but in a different sense. In the prologo, he decided to change poet Giacomo Badoaro s original text with his own. This version, which supported Fate, Prudence, and Fortitude, was more allegorical in nature, celebrated the power of fate, and shows Fortune ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
