◦ Welding defects को weld surface की irregularities, discontinuities,
imperfections या welded parts में होने वाली inconsistencies क
े रूप में
define ककया जाता है।

6. Lack of fusion
◦ Fusion की कमी base metal क
े साथ weld bead का poor adhesion है। यकि
weld की heat sufficient नहीीं रही, तो welding process क
े िौरान एक साथ
weld की जा रही metals melting नहीीं होींगी और िोनोीं pieces joint नहीीं होींगे।

7. Undercutting
◦ एक Line क
े साथ welding करने या बहुत कम Arc voltage का use करने से weld line क
े ठीक
साथ metal में एक drain या थोडी सी chasm create हो सकती है। इसे undercutting क
े रूप
में जाना जाता है।

8. Pinholes
◦ High Welding temperature क
े कारण होने वाले Welding defect को pinhole क
े रूप में जाना
जाता है। यकि Weld क
े Arc बनाने का temperature बहुत अकिक है, तो Weld की surface पर
pinhole जैसे छोटे hole किखाई िे सकते हैं।

9. Cracking
◦ यह Defect generally इसकलए होता है क्ोींकक Welder Weld बनाने क
े कलए wrong type क
े Wire
electrode का Use कर रहा होता है । poor design और inappropriate procedure क
े combination
क
े फलस्वरूप high residual stress और cracking हो सकती है।

10. Misalignment
◦ इस type क
े defect generally setup/fit problem या different type की प्लेटोीं को joint करने
की कोकिि क
े कारण होता है।

11. Gas Inclusions
◦ Gas Inclusions भी एक defect है कजसमें porosity, blow hole और pipe consist हैं। Gas
Inclusion का कारण solidify Weld क
े within Gas का entrapment होना है।
यह कनम्नकलखखत में से ककसी भी कारण से हो सकता हैं – electrode मे high sulphur content,
electrode से अत्यकिक मॉश्चर या wrong type क
े welding से।

12. Porosity
◦ Welding porosity एक welding defect है जो जमने क
े िौरान melting हुए Weld puddle क
े
unwanted inside गैसोीं क
े trapped क
े पररणामस्वरूप होता है, जो surface पर या bead क
े भीतर
pocket या pores का कारण बनता है।

13. Craters
◦ Crater cracks तब होती हैं जब Arc टू टने से पहले crater भरा नहीीं जाता है। इससे crater क
े outer
edges crater की तुलना में अकिक तेजी से ठीं डे हो जाते हैं, कजससे crack बनने क
े कलए sufficient
stresess create होते है।

14. Overlapping
◦ Weld toe या weld root से परे (beyond ) weld metal का Protrusions.
यह poor welding techniques क
े कारण होता है और generally एक बेहतर weld process द्वारा इसे
िू र ककया जा सकता है। overlap की repaired excess weld metal को grinding करक
े और surface को
base metal पर आसानी से grinding करक
े की जा सकती है।

15. Lamellar tearing
◦ Lamellar tearing एक प्रकार का defect है जो high stress concentration क
े points पर
welded joint क
े नीचे होने की सबसे अकिक सींभावना है। Lamellar tearing मुख्य रूप से material
में Sulphur क
े Inclusions क
े कारण होता है। अन्य कारणोीं में Alloy में hydrogen की excess
include है।
Steel alloy में सल्फर की मात्रा 0.005% से कम रखकर इस defect को िू र ककया जा सकता है

16. Reheat cracking
◦ Reheat cracking एक प्रकार की cracking है जो HSLA steels, कविेष रूप से chromium,
molybdenum और vanadium steels में post heating क
े िौरान होती है।
यह heat से affected poor creep ductility क
े कारण होता है
सबसे पहले heat treating द्वारा low temperature soak up करक
े और कफर rapid heating क
े
साथ high temperature पर , weld toes को grinding या peening करक
े इसे eliminated
ककया जा सकता हैं।

17. Root and Toe cracks
◦ Root crack welding, root की starting में छोटे bead, low current और welding क
े कलए use
की जाने वाली Improper filler metal क
े कारण बनी cracks है।
• इस प्रकार की cracks पडने का प्रमुख कारण hydrogen embrittlement है
• इस प्रकार क
े defects को starting में high current और proper filler metal का use करक
े समाप्त (
eliminated ) ककया जा सकता हैं
