The American people find themselves frustrated with their elected officials now that there is a
government shutdown in effect with no immediate end in sight. The nation is once again in need of
a beacon, positive light to stand behind, something to fire the minds of the young and old,
something to inspire a nation to see beyond their frustration and anger.
Safely landing and returning humans from Mars, the closest Earth like planet in our solar
system, would be the biggest accomplishment for generations. It would capture the imagination

Wilfred Owen and Lord Alfred Tennyson, are two of the most critically and publically acclaimed
war poets. Both use language and stylistic features to communicate the vastly juxtaposing ideas of
the honour and horror of war.
Owen in both of his poems Dulce et Decorum Est and Anthem for doomed youth showcase the
horror of war. Both poems follow Owen experiences in the trenches in northern France in World
War One. Both poems heavily feature alliteration with watch the white eyes writhe in Dulce et
Decorum Est, similarly in Anthem for Doomed Youth rifles rapid rattle , creates rhythm and flow
to the poem. Furthermore, both poems feature heavily with similes with like old beggars under
sacks, likewise Anthem for doomed youth What passing bells for these who die as cattle as a
rhetorical question indented to create a grotesque image and make them question war as a whole.
While In Dulce et Decorum Est with Owen coughing like hags comparing the men to old, ugly
women, they have lost their youth and with it their masculinity and strength. Owens in both poems

There are many different views on the issue. Some people believe the name should stay, some insist

definite right choice, the Washington Redskins name is offensive to the Native American people
and therefore it must go. The name is not only offensive to the Native American people, but people
outside of Native American s find issue with it, and it also promotes ethnic stereotyping. In the late

academics. Many team names and mascots were guilty of appropriating Native American Culture,

Education is the key to eliminate gender discrimination, to decrease poverty, to foster social peace
in our communities and to create a sustainable development. But, how can we encourage our
children to study effectively? In other words, how can we prepare them for success? Motivation is
the secret behind student success. Motivation helps to explain why some children get impressive
educationresults despite poverty, while others get ordinary results despite highly sophisticated
teaching methods. Which factors affecting students motivation? And how it works in the lives of
girls and boys? Despite the fact that girls outperform their malepeers, and hyper control of girls
acts as a kind of motivator which makes them study harder than boys, boys are not defective.
Motivation is the main factor which is shaped by parents and teachers. In many Middle Eastern
public schools; elements have cooperated together to create an educational system which is not
appropriate for anyone but particularly not for boys. Boys feel like their teachers do not care
about them, and they had experienced a worse relationship with their teachers. Also, they reported
physical punishment which had been occurred at school. Moreover, boys have their own society
which aims to enforce their masculinity away from classrooms and academic goals that is why
they lose their motivation to study hard. This is the topic that Amanda Ripley (2017) focuses on in
her article Boys are not defective . In her article Ripley (2017) discusses that male teachers practices
have a negative effect on boys motivation. They do not care about boys well performance, tend to
punish them physically and shout at them. In addition, the notions of masculinity among boys
make them feel like schools will not help them to reach manhood. My firm conviction is those
worse relationships between boys and teachers, insulting and corporal punishmentand the internal
desire of students to achieve their manhood outside classrooms; this would affect badly on their
motivation, and would decrease their academic performance.

My favorite stories from when I was young consisted of iconic characters such as The Cat in the
Hat, Sam I Am who does not like green eggs and ham, the Grinch and his dog and many more.
These characters are the basis of what shaped my childhood and my now love of reading. The man
behind these fictional characters is Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. He had such a
way with words that reached not only his target audience of children, but became a phenomenon
across the country with adults as well. Quickly, these tales of characters have captured the hearts
of many people and will be passed along for many generations to come. Dr. Seuss keeps children
entertained while also educating them through the messages he uses and the creativity he
