Despite the common English backgrounds, societies in the New England and Chesapeake regions
of Colonial America had split off into two incredibly different cultures: A very religiously focused
New England and the more economic oriented Chesapeake. Because these regions were settled for
different purposes, the development of these societies led to the distinctions between them. One of
the major causes for emigration from England to North America was religious persecution.
Religious tolerance in Britain for other Christian sects besides the Anglican church was virtually
nonexistent, resulting in many members of other sects to seek religious haven in the colonies. The
vast majority of immigrants coming to New Englandwere followers of... Show more content on

Contrary to the pilgrims of New England, those who settled in the Chesapeake area colonized
the region for more economic purposes. Many people who settled in the Chesapeake were down
on their luck English citizens living in swamps and slums hoping to stake it out in the New
World, because it couldn t be much worse than the conditions they faced back in England. Most
received their tickets to America through indentured servitude, paying for their trip with a few
years of free labor for a wealthy master. Document C is a roster of indentured servants bound for
Virginia who are all set to work for the same master. Indentured servitude had long lasting effects
on the colonies, the most impactful being Bacon s Rebellion in 1676 (Document H). This
uprising was caused former indentured servants who had no land or property of their own once
their work contracts expired. Because the land westward was populated by Natives and therefore
almost impossible to acquire, the dissenters focused against the rich and powerful members of the
colonies. The successful uprising led to reforms such as work regulations explained in Document
E, as well a shift away from indentured servitude and towards slavery of blacks. Other settlers
besides indentured servants were aspiring traders and gold hunters mentioned in Document F.
While traders had little success early on and treasure hunters definitely didn t find their fields of

Johnny Byron In Jerusalem
In Jerusalem, Johnny Byron is portrayed as an evil entity, compared throughout the play to
ogres, dragons, wolves and an outsider on the fringes of society. This could be interpreted as
Johnny being a monster, a character from a fairy tale full of magic that lures in innocent
children for their rites of passage and possible downfall. However, this could be seen as an
unfair interpretation of Byron due to suggestions of other more positive beings like the magic of
the Romany blood and a modern day Peter Pan. The fact that he s in the forest and the fringes of
society also alludes to Byron being an omniscient being. It shows Byron in a positive light because
of the escape he offers to the characters and the magic of the woods and what could be considered
the Green World. The two possible interpretations bring into question whether there is... Show more

Phaedra asks him if he ever gets lonely to which he responds, How can I? You rats never leave
me alone. (p. 102). This is because of Johnny and his trailer in the woods being nearly constantly
visited by the teenagers of Wiltshire. He refers to them as rats which supports the idea of the
Pied Piper, the teenagers following him and copying his habits. On the other hand, they could be
seen as Peter Pan s lost boys who follow and almost live with them. Either way, Johnny is not
shown as an ogre, but a fantastical figure that provides and place to escape to and drugs to use to
distract them from the possible harshness of their reality. This could be from the mundane routine
that Lee seeks to escape eventually deciding to move to Australia to Phaedra escaping the reality
of her abusive stepfather and the truth that she s no longer the May Queen. Johnny even attempts
to defend this place of escape, the Green World, to Fawcett Kids come here. Half of them are safer

The Influence Of The Potsdam Conference
The Potsdam Conference was held at Cecilienhof, the home of Crown Prince Wilhelm
Hohenzollern, in Potsdam, occupied Germany, from 17 July to 2 August 1945. The goals of the
conference also included the establishment of post war order, peace treaty issues, and countering
the effects of the war. In the five months since the Yalta Conference, a number of changes had taken
place which would greatly affect the relationships between the leaders. The Soviet Unionwas
occupying Central and Eastern Europe and Stalin claimed that it was a legitimate sphere of Soviet
influence. Roosevelt had dismissed warnings of a potential domination by a Stalin dictatorship in
Europe, however, his successor Harry S. Truman became increasingly suspicious of Soviet
intentions under Stalin. The Potsdam Conference marks the first and only time Truman would ever
meet Stalin in person.
At the end of the conference it was decided that both Germany and Austria would be divided into
four zones and that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the controversial decisions to be reached at Potsdam were those pertaining to Poland.
As part of the Potsdam talks, the US and Britain agreed to recognize the Soviet backed
Provisional Government of National Unity rather than the Polish government in exile which had
been based in London since 1939. In addition, Truman reluctantly agreed to accede to Soviet
demands that Poland s new western border lay along the Oder Neisse Line. The use of these
rivers to denote the new border saw Germany lose nearly a quarter of its pre war territory with
most going to Poland and a large part of East Prussia to the Soviets. Though Bevin argued against
the Oder Neisse Line, Truman effectively traded this territory to gain concessions on the reparations
issue. The transfer of this territory led to the displacement of large numbers of ethnic Germans and
remained controversial for

Communication Styles Between Men And Women
Today, divorce has become an extremely common and a better understanding on how to maintain a
healthy and happy marriage is critical. Unsuccessful communication plays a vital role in the failure
of many marriages and relationships. Communication is key in all relationships and can lead to the
success or failure of a marriage, depending on how the couple interacts. This effectiveness of
communication is connected to the overall satisfaction of married couples. Learning more about
the differences in communication styles between men and women will aid in the successful
sending and receiving of messages, both verbal and nonverbal. For example, a woman might
communicate in a way that has significant meaning to her. Though, the man receiving the message
may translate it differently than the way she intended. The misunderstanding is because of the
difference in communication style between the husbandand the wifeand can cause conflict and lead
to future problems in the relationship. However, if the man interpreting the message were familiar
with his wife s way of communication, he may have understood and avoided a conflict situation.
Becoming more aware of how one s own self communicates will also aid in healthier
communication between spouses. This literature review will discuss methods, limitations, and
results associated with nonverbal communication styles, conflict because of communication, and
communicated perspective taking within relationships.

The Competition Into The Dynamics Of Political Affiliation...
For the two final replications, BIRG is studied beyond competition between teams in a sporting
context. The first study to be discussed carries competition into the dynamics of political affiliation
during national elections (Boen et al., 2002), and the last study going further by considering peer
relationships and affiliative identity (J. K. Dijkstra et al., 2010).
Political affiliations. Boen et al. (2002) followed Cialdini et al. s (1976) first method to observe
BIRG: establishing affiliation using emblems and representative symbols. In the study (conducted
during election period), the researchers counted the number of households that displayed posters or
removable lawn signs that convey support for a political party; these field observations were
conducted two days prior to and one day after the election date.
The number of positions won in Belgium s government was based on the total number of votes that
each party has received; as a consequence, party supporters reacted differently based on the relative
win loss percentages for each party. Citizens who associated themselves with parties that eventually
suffered great losses in the elections immediately removed any election materials that announced
their connection with the party. Conversely, those associated with parties that won significantly
retained the display of their materials for longer durations. In some cases, previously unmarked
households (i.e. did not announce their affiliation) began to display posters

your favorite restaurant . I have one and it is Lou malnati s. The first time I went, I was with my
grandma and we were looking for a place to eat, and we found Lou Malnati s and we have been

best deep dish pizza, I ve had. Secondly, it has great service and atmosphere. Thirdly, is that I ve
had great memories of going with family and friends. That s why I love Lou Malnati s as my
favorite restaurant.
What makes a pizza place without great food. Well Lou Malnati s has great deep dish pizza. I
really like the thick cheese and great red sauce. Also, the butter crust on the outside is really
crunchy and creamy tasting. Also, the salad is really good, where they have the fresh vegetables
and those crunchy croutons. After you re done with you main course, you can have the delicious

Russia, Iran, and North Korea are three countries that have been up for recent discussion in regards
for increased United States sanctions. These sanctions are often used to enforce laws or certain
ideas. The Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation (SPI) enforces and maintains
sanctions in order to maximize their economic impact on target but minimizing the damage to U.S.
economic interest . Energy sanctions are often implemented for reasons including human rights
issues, terrorism exportation, and national aggression. Sanctions can be put on a country by just the

This shows their inability to support their local civilians. Making it a key reason that Russia has
been placed under increased United States sanctions in the past. More recently Russia has been
looked at for increased sanctions due to their apparent meddling in the United States previous
election. It is hard to determine if previous sanctions greatly impact the economy and country as
a whole. It is said that it could simply be the fall in oil prices because, Sanctions hit at the same
time the price of oil, a major export and source of revenue for the Russian government, dropped
dramatically, by more than 60% between the start of 2014 and the end of 2015 (Nelson, 2017).
Even with the fall in oil prices the sanctions had to play some role in the dropped revenue and down
grading economy. With these sanctions affecting the financial situation that Russia is experiencing
it does not change the fact that they are still treating their civilians with poor respect for their
human rights. Human rights are not the only reason increased sanctions could be considered,
another reason could be their support for terrorism exportation. Second, sanctions can be increased
due to terrorism exportation. Terrorism exportations can be described as state sponsored terrorism.
Which basically means that a country is supporting violence against their civilians or other
countries civilians. Iran is being considered for increased sanctions due to their support of terrorism.

The arguments that I have just laid out are not perfect and they have some apparent flaws that
some philosophers would strongly disagree with, while there are other arguments that some of
the great philosophers would agree with. I will critique the arguments that I have just laid out
using the perspective of three different philosophers who all have their own ideas of how the
state should function and the role of the citizen. The three philosophers that I will use in this
critique will be Karl Marx, John Stewart Mill, and John Locke. The reason why I picked these
three philosophers is because they all agree with some aspects of my writing, while disagreeing
with others. One will disagree with the role of the state and the citizens, but... Show more content on

Other citizens will not be born into a wealthy family, be well educated, and others will have bad
luck and end up in the lower class. There is also a middle class for hard working individuals who
are neither weathly nor poor, but have a steady job and can support their family. This will be the
largest class in the state. Marx would disagree with this because multiple classes will eventually
lead to the wealthy exploiting the lower classes. Marx would disagree with the middle class
being the staple to my society. In his opinion the middle class is nonexistent because one either
makes a fortune or hardly anything at all. Marx believes that there are only two classes in
society, the property owners and the property less workers (Marx [1884] 2011, 570). Capitalism
fails to unite the classes and have them working for a common good, instead it is based on greed
and competition which causes the estrangement out of the worker. The estrangement causes the
worker to become alienated during work. There are three reasons why the worker becomes
alienated and they are: labor is external to the worker, the worker alienates himself through labor,
and finally man is a species being and they lose relationship to the other actors. All of the reasons
of estrangement make the worker work a job where he does repetitive skills, feels unhappy, ruins
his mind, and works for another worker so that person can become wealthy off of their

Hyperuricaemia which is distinguished by abnormal high levels of uric acid is present in 5 30% of
the general population and appears to be increasing worldwide (1). It has been considered as an
important risk factor for gout and may be associated with development of several oxidative stress
diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases (2, 3). The control of uric acidproduction has

xanthine Oxidoreductase is the key enzyme in the catabolism of purines, and catalyses the

However, some severe adverse effects such as hepatitis, nephropathy and allergic reactions limit the
clinical use of allopurinol (3). Several in vitro observations confirmed the XO inhibitory activity of

compounds that occur in plants and consist of six major classes based on specific structural
differences: flavonols, flavones, flavanones, catechins, anthocyanidins, and isoflavones (11).
Therefore, a promising approach for hyperuricemia and its complications might be a combination

Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet Essay
The Tragedy Behind Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a classic tragedy, that in which two people s love causes death and suffering.
Each character in the play is affected by Romeo and Juliet s love in some form. The juvenile love
between Romeo and Juliet caused tragedy to become the vision of this play, together they did not
fully understand how their actions would affect their families and friends. The tragedy of Romeo
and Juliet is one of the most famous love stories in english literature, the characters flaws and
strengths are the main reason the play s popularity Romeo claimed to love Rosaline, and was
sure she was the woman he wanted to be with. As soon as Romeo saw Juliet he knew he was in
love, he says, Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear! (Shakespeare.mit.edu) Romeo was so
young he didn t understand how love works or anything really about love. He only focuses on
beauty instead of inner beauty. This inexperienced way of thinking is the character flaw that lead
to the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo falling in love with Juliet is a good example of what

MARKETING ANALYSIS AND STRATEGY RECOMMENDATION FOR STARBUCKS
COFFEE COMPANY
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this report is to conduct market analysis and recommend appropriate marketing
strategies for Starbucks Coffee.
In the report, we will first look into Starbucks s goal, its product and markets. Then we will look
into the key actions and decisions that lead to the success of the company. After that, we will
discuss the issues that Starbucks is facing in this competitive global market. For each strategic issue,
appropriate marketing recommendations for the company are made respectively.
BACKGROUND AND SITUATION ANALYSIS
Starbucks Coffee starts in 1971 with a single store in Seattle s Pike Place Market. Today, they are
privileged to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This implies that the most important target market for Starbucks are people within this age group.
The two largest ethnic groups in the U.S. are white 81.7%, black 12.9% and Asian 4.2%. (CIA
World Factbook) The ethnic background is important to a company because it influences tastes,
trends, perceptions, values and beliefs of an individual.
_ECONOMICAL FACTORS_
Estimated GDP in 2004 was $11.75 trillion. GDP real growth rate was 4.4% (CIA World
Factbook). The growth rate of GDP suggests that the economy is growing, and therefore there is
opportunity for Starbucks to expand business. A very large per capita purchasing power parity of
$40,100 suggests that Americans have the opportunity to buy specialty coffee drinks from an
expensive, quality intensive organization such as Starbucks (CIA World Factbook).
_3.4 TECHNOLOGICAL FACTORS_
Strategic issues that will challenge Starbucks in the future are related to their tight control and
lack of flexibility, organizational structure, and diversification. First, Starbucks is vertically
integrated as they buy and roast the beans, ship them to the stores, produce, and sell the coffee.
They may face difficulties or have to raise the price of their coffee if the cost of raw beans
increases, or there is a decrease in available labor.
The second issue is that they are centralized around controlling all steps of the distribution

Analysis Of Reconstruction By Eric Foner
Reconstruction Area I personally have never read a history book like this from taking 1301 or
any history class in grade school, but they are very interesting once you read into them
especially Reconstruction, Americas unfinished revolution is a very informative book if you
know nothing about Reconstruction. Eric Foner the author of this book writes it so well, so it
is easy to understand. A bit of background on Foner, he is a history professor at Columbia

Colombia under the supervision of Richard Hofstadter, He is one of the only two people to

American historians, American historical association and the society of American historians.
He is also one of not very many that have won the Bancroft and Pulitzer prizes in the same year.
Fonner writes all his on the subjects such as political and social history, the history of the
American race relations. He is best known for his books Free soil, Free labor, Free men: The
Ideology of the republican party before the civil war. Eric Fonner is overall a great author,
professor, and historian with probable a very long resume that has a lot of awards and honors. The

Mood Of The Tell Tale Heart
Edgar Allen Poe is a widely known writer from the 1800s. Poe aimed at creating a definite
emotional effect and mood in both poetry and short stories. Poe s goal was to make readers feel
horror of premeditated death and, or profound sadness. Edgar Allen Poe s style is characterized
by his use of sound imagery, irony, repeated elements which he uses to create an emotional effect
for his readers. Poe s style is shown by his use of sound imagery in his short storyThe Tell Tale

The Salary Payments Should Be Paid Essay
This is a screenshot showing the number of hours if an individual worked and how long their break
would be.
Holidays
Moreover, the part time officers will receive the same number of public holidays as the full time
officer. Although, the hours and pay for each will be made on a pro data basis to hours normally
worked. The part time regulations also introduce for those workers free days; these are days when
an officer is not on normal duty day, rest day or public holiday. The free day should be clearly
identified on the shift pattern workings to ensure that payments are made correctly.
Temporary Salary payments will be made to officers working on a part time and job share basis
where they work the equivalent of the 14 day qualifying period by completing full shifts totalling
112 hours.
Pension Rights
Pension Implications Officers should seek advice on individual pension implications from the
Force Pensions Administrator.
Normal Pension Age for police officers will increase to age 60, compared to a Normal Pension
Age for most public servants linked to state pension age (planned to rise in stages to 68).
Moreover, there will be protection for those who close to retirement. This will depend on their age
and service as an officer.

to remain in their current police pension scheme beyond 2015. This will depend on the age and

The Mafia Did Not Kill John F. Kennedy
Since the death of John F. Kennedy many theories have evolved regarding the individual or
individuals who killed the president. Conspiracy theorist, as well as average citizens, believes
Lee Harvey Oswald did not kill the president, or that he was not the only person involved in the
assignation. According to a 2005 poll 35.90% of the respondents believe someone other than Lee

Many more connections with President Kennedy and the Mafia exist, however the Mafia did
not kill President Kennedy. The Mafia had the motive and the resources to kill the president
(Anders). They also could have easily concealed their involvement in the assignation. For years
prior to the election of President Kennedy the CIA had the phones of various Mafia leaders
tapped (Dallek). On all of the recordings held by the CIA there is no evidence of the Mafia s
involvement with the assignation of the president. It is believed the Mafia had more reason to
kill the Attorney General Bobby Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968, than his brother the
president. According to Anders ...it s hard to imagine that a group as corrupt as the organized
crime syndicate could have kept this secret for 30 years without a rapid wholesale slaughter of
everyone connected to the killing... Members of the Mafia were investigated and interrogated
over the years. Not one individual implicated the Mafia. Although Dallek states in his book the
Mafia helped to elect Kennedy president there is evidence this did not happen. In his 2006 article
Wood discussed an analysis of the 1960 vote totals from the Mafia controlled election districts in
Chicago. It was found individuals in those areas did not show a significant increase in votes for
Kennedy. The election totals for West Virginia have also been questioned over the years. The
Warren Commission concluded there

##torical Analysis Of Maya Angelou s The Fight She Fought
The Fight She Fought Ariel Worrell Wilkes Community College The Fight She Fought Maya
Angelou s speech (August 31, 2008) at Coretta Scott King s funeral was very successful. She
drivingly outlined the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did
so in a way that allowed those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that
King s life was one of great importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and
important way. Her use of relevancy, audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver
the eulogy meaningfully. Audience Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou
mastered the technique as seen in this speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular
hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see
what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a connection with the audience. Many
people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of them. Angelou (2008) went on to
say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators, those of us who run great
companies, who know something about being parents, who know something about being
preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience, Angelou
(2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection. Angelou
(2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just another
footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their actions
will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience connection
and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part of the
speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou used
while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Following the hymnal, Angelou (2008) begins by saying In
the midst of national tumult, in the medium of international violent uproar.. Violent uproar is all
around, which makes this quote from the speech incredibly relevant. The entire Eulogy by

A Biographical Film Milk By Van Gus Sant
Milk is a Biographical Film, directed by Van Gus Sant, and released on October 28, 2008. It is
based on gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk. The film starts off with an old footage of
police raiding gay bars and arresting patrons during the 50s and 60s, which is then followed by
Dianne Feinstein s announcement stating that Harvey Milk, who is played by Sean Penn, and
Mayor George Moscone, played by Victor Garber, had been assassinated. Harvey starts out in San
Francisco s Castro district as a small business owner who witnesses the pursuit of gay men and
becomes a strong proponent for LGBT rights. Homosexuals were often beaten up and harassed in
the streets, this pushed Harvey to run as City Supervisor.

The Green Mile Death Quotes
The Green Mile is written about E Block, the place where prisoners who have been sentenced to
the death penalty go. This book shows many different situations where death is involved even if it
isn t necessarily the executions. Many of the deaths in the books can be related back to deaths and
how they affect people in real life. Deathhappens all the time, but throughout The Green Mile it is
clear that death is selfish, emotionally painful, and inevitable. All cases of murder are selfish. The
Green Mile makes an example of this from the very beginning when Arthur Flanders (The
President) was introduced. He had killed his father in order to get insurance money. Possibly the
biggest example of how murder is selfish is the Detterick twins and... Show more content on

The Green Mile shows this when Percy steps on Mr. Jingles in front of Delacroix. Paul had
noticed how calm Delacroix had been despite his execution being one day away. Just when it
seemed like Delacroix was most excited about Mr. Jingles, Percy took his chance and stepped on
Mr. Jingles while he was retrieving the wooden spool. This proved to the reader that Percy
couldn t care less about Del even if it was his last day. Right after this happened, Delacroix
screamed the mouses name repeatedly, clearly hurt by Percy s actions. Situations in real life that
cause emotional pain are hurricanes and earthquakes. Many people lose sentimental items, houses
and possessions, and even family and friends. Many people never recover mentally or physically
from these loses. This relates to Percy stepping on Mr. Jingles in many ways. Percy is similar to
the natural disaster because both are the reason for others pain and both are unable to feel sympathy
for those that are hurt. Delacroix is similar to the victims and their families because both are
distraught by events that are not within their control. Throughout the book and real life there are
many situations where death has brought pain to people

Comparing Fool For Love And Sam Shepard
Reading Evanescence, or Shakespeare in the Alley for the first time was confusing to say the
least. From the falling watermelons to Shakespeare himself carrying a dead body across the stage,
it doesn t initially make much sense, but, after reading it over a few more times an idea started to
emerge. It seems that the woman is talking about a lost love. Probably her husband. She talks about
how they became so lost in their lust for each other that they no longer saw the end that is
inevitably coming. It has clearly left her heartbroken as she has to pause several times, overcome
with emotion, to compose herself. Towards the end of the playI began to think that perhaps she is in
a meeting with him to negotiate their divorce. Shepard says that... Show more content on

With his background as a military child he must have seen a lot of things and heard a lot of real
stories as he moved from base to base with his family. He must have, somewhere along the line,
decided that people needed to hear those stories, regardless of how hard they are to hear. It seems
he decided that he didn t want to lie to people about how love and life really is as Shakespeare and
countless others have for years. You can see this not only in this play but in several others such
as Fool for Love and Savage/Love. In both of these plays as well you see issues that come up in
relationships, including some that are quite controversial like the ideas presented in Fool for

issues that others shy away from. He exposes all the raw ugliness of American life. But then, at
the same time, this is something a lot of us need. We need to hear the hard truth, to be exposed to
difficult situations so that when they come up in our own lives, we will be prepared. Shepard
does this for us which is why he really is so important as a playwright

Crown Jewels Of London
One of the most famous castles in the United Kingdom is the Tower of London.
According to Stephen Porter (2012), ?the use of the tower as a repository for royal treasure began
in earnest in 1303, when a number of treasures were stolen from the Abbey of St. Peter at
Westminster. The remaining treasures were brought to the tower, which was the most heavily
fortified spot in London, for safekeeping. A new jewel house was built against the south side of
the White Tower in 1508? (?17). The value of the Crown Jewels is priceless, and they are not
housed in a bank or some sort of high security sky scraper. Instead, they can be found in a castle
that is hundreds of years old. When I first thought of castles, I thought of knights and damsels in

This is why diggers and masons were necessary to build a castle (Macaulay 20). It was also
necessary to build a castle with thick walls to withstand siege weapons. In order to build a wall
strong enough, they built
?all the main walls? with an inner and outer face of stone?mortar [was] used to bind these stones
together? (Macaulay 20).
Most battles during the medieval period took place in fields where knights could fight each other
out in the open. Many times conditions required that a castle be taken, and when this happened, a
siege was required. In order to withstand a siege, a castle needed more than just big walls and a
tall tower. A moat is water surrounding the castle which makes the castle difficult to approach. A
drawbridge helps protect the castle by being lowered only for friendly people.
Also, castle walls contained narrow slits from which to shoot arrows: ?Archers have a good view
through slits in the walls to shoot your troops. It is almost impossible for you to shoot back
through the narrow holes? (Bruce 14). Castles also contained murder holes which were used to

Why Women Still Can T Have It All Summary
In life we are told to have it all by raising a perfect family, getting a beautiful house, and having a

so many are just trying to survive? In the articles, Why Women Still Can t Have It All and Why
Men Still Can t Have It All, Anne Marie Slaughter and Richard Dorment, go through how women
function in the workplace and how there are different expectant outcomes for each. The primary
objective of Slaughter s passage was to show how women are treated poorly and how they are held

Though I am a woman, I do not deny that men have come far in helping with at home life and the
majority attempt to do as much as they can to help their wives. But I am not saying we should
reward men for doing this; it should be the assumption to help out; I am just concluding the
evidence that they do twice as much as they used to. I can agree that women have come up in
academics because in many schools the girls are usually more academically successful than the
boys are. I feel as though Slaughter complains about how men are not pulling their weight at
home, is contradictory to when her husband took care of their son and home by himself while
she was working hours away. I do endorse the idea Slaughter brought across that nobody can
have it all because of the economy and society. On the contrary, I do not believe anyone could
ever truly have it all in at any time, even if the economy and society were more developed
because nothing is ever going to work correctly. I found it troubling that Slaughter s aimed
audience was limited only to the higher class working woman and she admits it when she states, I
am well aware that the majority of American women face problems far greater than any discussed
in this article. I am writing for my demographic highly educated, well off women who are

The Prophet s pietistic norms are archetypes in which Muslims, as a piety of knowledge, are

Homework Is No Homework
In recent years, the argument over assigning students tremendous amounts of homework each night
continues to grow. In a few districts scattered across the country, superintendents refuse to allow
teachers to assign homework to children. The superintendent of Marion County Public Schools in
Florida recently assigned a no homeworkpolicy for the current schoolyear, joining districts in
Massachusetts and Vermont. Most parents and students across the country admired the district s
decision and hoped their own school system would follow suit. A study from Duke University in
2006 showed that assigning homework did improve academic performance, but an excessive
amount could hurt student s mentality. The famous saying practicemakes perfect does prove to help
people achieve their goals. The more one practices something, the easier it will come to them.
Teachers assign homework to give students more opportunities to practice what they have learned
in class. In that case, some homework should be assigned, but on the other hand, too much
homework becomes unhelpful to the student. For instance, if a math teacher starts on a new
section, practice problems will help the student prepare for the next class. Except, assigning thirty
questions of the same type of problem becomes too monotonous. A math teacher should only assign
ten problems at the maximum. At that point, the teacher should answer any question a student
might have the following day. Teachers tell students that the

Hamlet s Use Of Ophelia As A Pawn In Hamlet
The play Hamlet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The story is set in the Kingdom of
Denmark, which dramatizes the revenge of Prince Hamlet upon his uncle Claudius. According to
the Ghost of Hamlet s father, Claudius had murdered his own brother and seized the throne, also
marrying his deceased brother s wife. Throughout the play, the story focuses on Hamlets plan to
revenge Claudius. However, many characters along the way were victimized by others for their
own gain. The Ghostuses Hamlet as a pawn; Hamlet uses Ophelia as a pawn and Claudius uses
Laertes as a pawn, which ultimately caused their own death.

Benefits Of A Limited Liability Company
A Limited Liability Company (LLC) is often regarded as a hybrid business structure: it mergers the
protection of a corporation with the tax benefits and relative administrative simplicity of a
partnership. For these reasons, it is considered an ideal business form for most small to mid sized
businesses with multiple owners.
When starting a business, partners may choose to create an LLC rather than a standard partnership,
thereby obtaining the substantial benefits provided by an LLC. In this structure, the partnership
agreement terms are essentially couched in the LLC Operating Agreement and govern the
operation of the entity. An LLC may be directly managed by all its members (member managed
LLC) or selected members appointed by the members (manager managed LLC). An LLC managed
by its members operates substantially like a partnership. The major benefits of using an LLC for a
partnership include:
Limited liability. An LLC shields its members from incurring liability for the business debts and
obligations of the other members. The limited liability protection afforded by an LLC is a
significant advantage over a general a partnership structure, which does not shield its partners from
the liabilities of fellow partners in the event of a partner s default or exit from the partnership
Tax treatment. The IRS default rule stipulates that an LLC report taxes in the same manner as a
partnership. Alternatively, the IRS allows LLCs to report income as a corporation, but this election

Suggested Patch Revegetation in the Greenock Region, South Australia
Lecturer: Bertram Ostendorf
Brodie McDougall 1607680
Introduction
Vegetation is important to conserve, especially in or near built up areas where it can easily become
obsolete due to expansion or otherwise. In areas such as the Greenock region, South Australia,
vegetation often gets split into fragments spread across the landscape. This has many implications
for the conservation of both vegetation and animals in the region. In order to revegetate and
conserve any vegetation in the area, a suitable site (or sites) must be chosen. Although it can be
argued that conserving multiple fragments is appropriate in conservation strategies, ... Show more

Plant species composition changes with lower edge to area ratios. The composition of species
closest to the original composition of the area occurs with maximum area to edge ratio.
Terrain type. Different species grow preferentially at different altitudes and on different terrain
(Bennie et al., 2006). Fragments that best represent the overall terrain of the area should have the
correct species contained within.
Surrounding land use. Different vegetation types surrounding a patch of conservable vegetation
can increase or decrease the edge effects associated with a patch. Vegetation similar to that in the
patch, or vegetation that facilitates dispersal/transport of plants and animals, increases the length
of time a patch will survive (Mesquita et al., 1999). Harsh boundaries to vegetation patches
increase the edge effects of a patch. Built up areas or man made surfaces significantly increase
edge effects (Godefroid and Koedam, 2004).
Distance from other native vegetation. Close proximity to other vegetation patches can allow
inflow and outflow of seeds and animals and provides greater genetic variation (Bastin and Thomas,
1999).
Fragment Size. Vegetation fragments contain only a selection of the species once present in an
area. To get the largest possible percentage of original species and greatest diversity, the largest
fragment is the best to conserve (Bastin and Thomas, 1999).
These are all considered in this study to find the

The Internet And The World Wide Web
The Internet is a unique place where all different nationalities, social groups and age groups with
different values and characteristics, meet and interact. All spheres of media are being represented
on the world wide web. Some of the relations are being mirrored from those present in real life, but
the internetwas never the same. As with real life, not everyone on the internet is equal and there are
numerous differences between the users of this medium of mass communication. Even though the
inequalities are still present on the internet, they are subtler than those existing within the offline
world. Almost everyone has access, but how we benefit from it depends on our status, intelligence
and willingness to explore. Audience members are becoming important and active producers, being
given the tools, which bring them closer to professionals. Every internet user has equal access to
an online education, but an intellectually privileged group will make a more productive use of it.
This can be named as equalityof opportunity. The argument cannot be defined into one side.
Average people can keep in touch and interact with celebrities, which would never happen outside
the internet. They obey the same rules and laws imposed by the services they use, yet are not
equal, as famous people are more powerful, being in charge of a huge fan base. Another important
issue is a marginalization of societies excluded from the internet outreach. The inequalities and
equalities should also be

The Role Of Bread In Japanese Economic History
Food of Efficiency : The Role of Bread in Japanese Economic History from the 1910s to the
1960s The history of bread in Japan began in the early Meiji Period, when Kimuraya Sohonten, a
Tokyo bread store, opened and invented Anpan, a popular sweet bread with red bean paste inside.
Approximately one hundred and fifty years have passed since then. In these 150 years, Japan s
numerous social changes have shifted and redefined the role of breadin the Japanese diet. Frist,
bread was a popular novelty food and a status symbol until the beginning of the 20th century .
Between the 1910s and the 1960s, bread functioned as a food of efficiency and eventually
became one of the main staple foods in Japan. Form the 1970s to the present, bread has reformed
into a form of snack in the Japanese daily diet . While appreciating the delicate contemporary
bread snacks , one might also notice the contrast between bread s role as snack now and its role as
a food of efficiency before. How did bread become a food of efficiency, and what was the
significance of this part of the history of bread in Japan? From the beginning of World War I in
the 1910s to Japan s Economy Miracle in the 1960s, bread served as a food of efficiency and the
history of bread in Japan closely reflected the country s industrialization and economy growth.
Bread started its transformation into one staple foodof Japan in the 1910s. Japan had won the First
Sino Japanese War and the Russo Japanese War in the

Our Messed Up Juvenile Law System
Nowadays, the topic of the Juvenile law system is a very controversial as well as difficult
discussion to have. For every court case, trial, and scenario, there are many different
circumstances that may affect the outcome. Due to the seriousness of their crimes or even their
past offenses, juvenile criminals can sometimes be tried as adults. Personally, in the beginning of
this assignment, I could see both sides of the argument. There are many reasons why children
under the age of 18 should be tried as children, however, there are more proficient reasons as to
why we should do away with juvenile court. Many of my peers do not think this, however, they are
keen on keeping children tried as children. I truly cannot fathom the good that... Show more content

Her boyfriend took his eyes off of his road for a second and they are hit by an oncoming car.
Deena ends up with permanent paralysis and her boyfriend is killed. The person who smashed
into Deena s car was another high schooler headed to the prom. The one difference is that the
driver of that car was drinking while driving. The driver of this car was 17 years old. Does that
really make a difference? Absolutely not. No matter what age, if a crimeis committed, a
consequence need to be put into action. Let s flip the story though. Instead of a 17 year old
driving drinking, let s make it a 30 year old. Now, when this case hits the news, everyone will be
so sorrowful towards the victims and want to punish the 30 year old, but when the 17 year old faces
the consequences, it looks like the system is messed up, right? Wrong. Absolutely, utterly wrong.
There is nothing wrong with the system, just the imbeciles that enter it.
The public believes that America has given up on its juvenile delinquents. Well sorry to break it to
you, but this accusation is false. The only people who have given up are the delinquents. If they do
not want rehabilitation, how can we ever expect them to accept it when it is forced upon them? I do
not understand the logic of people who want to rehabilitate children, but give no chance to an adult.
The truth of the matter is the juvenile delinquents of today like the attention that they get when they
are questioned by police. They think it is cool,

The Relationship Between Randomness And Correlation...
Whether or not it is noticed, there are numerous examples of variability in day to day life.
Randomness can take many forms, but one such example is in the sport of soccer. The same two
teams could play the same game against each other five times and each game could have a
different score with both teams being able to win at least once. There must be a reason for
inconsistencies like this. That is randomness and variability. For sure, each team has its own
players with their own skills, but when it comes down to it, there s a level of randomness in the
sport that can often mean the difference between a team winning or losing. Even generally
speaking, the sport has randomness in it that has no hugely perceivable on the outcome of the game,

For instance, in the odd chance that there were no major delays of the game in professional
soccer, the total time of the first half may be 44 minutes and 59 seconds and 10 milliseconds and
so on. It is highly unlikely that play will commence for exactly 40 minutes, no more, no less.
It can also be taken into account that delays are very common in the sport. Say a game time was
set at 6:00 p.m., but a rain delay caused it to start at 6:10 instead. Many factors can affect the
timing of soccer. Another great example is the fact that at the end of the game the referee allows
for make up play. In Major League soccer lost time during played is made up after the 90 minutes
had been spent. It is not uncommon to see famous players, like Cristiano Ronaldo, flop on the
ground and milk an injury after an opposing player barely bumped them. This causes a major
interruption of play and can cost minutes off of the clock. Brawls, streakers , injuries, and
weather all affect the time span of a game. In order to make up for what was lost, the referee
allots extra time after the 90 minutes has expired. This time is supposed to make up for all of the
delays. However, the extra time given almost never truly matches the amount of time lost. Say
during the game there was a roughly 5 minute recovery period for an injured player, a 7 minute

Analyzing And Exploring The Global City

Analyzing and Exploring the Global City: Sydney
3 July 2015
Research Paper
Throughout the years, people from all over the world have migrated to Australia and the United
States of America to create better lives for themselves such as escaping religious/political
persecution, obtaining a better education, reuniting with their families, becoming exposed to more
job opportunities, and various other reasons (Singer 2). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in America and
Sydney, New South Wales in Australiahave similar immigration patterns, settlement trends, and
impacts. However, the communities of immigrants tend to not follow the same behaviors in both
cities. Immigration is vital for continuous economic and social growth. Thus, what impact does
immigration have on these two cities?
In 2011, Australia s population was 26% migrants compared to America s, which was only 13% (
4102.0 Australian Social Trends, 2014 ). Migration is essential to Australia s population; in 2011,
over 5 million migrants resided in Australia. Immigrants from England (over 1 million) and New
Zealand (almost half a million) dominate Australia s migrant community. Australia s migrant
population also includes large numbers of Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Vietnamese immigrants
among many others. On average, most migrants stay in Australia for 20 years. Some migrants stay
longer than others; European immigrants stay for over the average amount of years meanwhile

Reba Hart-Montgomery
Mother daughter relationships are very important in life. Some say they are absolutely essential.
Mothers nurture, encourage, and provide the help needed when it feels like the world is ending.
Their presence makes everything better no matter what. Without a mother s love, without a mother
s hug, daughters would all feel a little lost. After all, what are daughters without their mothers? Here
are the greatest motherdaughter relationships seen on television (some make me totally jealous).
Number Five: Reba Hart and Cheyenne Hart Montgomery (Reba). This mother daughter
relationship isn t any ordinary mother daughter relationship. Reba is present for all of her children,
she s a great mother to her two daughters and one son, but with Cheyenne it s different. When
Cheyenne becomes pregnant her senior year of high school, Reba becomes a mother, a counselor,
a nurse, and a friend. She supports Cheyenne during her pregnancy. Reba provides Cheyenne with
the advice she needs when life gets tough. She encourages Cheyenne when she feels like giving up,
and she nurtures her when she s sick or sad. Reba makes the bad times good, and with Cheyenne by
her side, there s normally nothing but laughs. This mother daughter relationship melts anyone s
heart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this mother daughter relationship may seem rocky at times, it does have a solid
foundation. Beyond the arguing and the tears, this mother daughter relationship is one that will
never be broken. Kathryn is extremely loving and supportive of Bay, regardless of their
disagreements. When something goes wrong, Bay knows that she can always run to her mother as
opposed to her father. Kathryn is there with encouraging words and warm hugs that stop any tears.
Through thick and thin, Kathryn and Bay love each other unconditionally, and that s what makes
this relationship so

Positive And Positive Aspects Of A Positive School
Introduction
A positive school climate is essential. Schools with a positive climate tend to have less discipline
problems. In addition, positive climates can encourage positive development, as well as promote
academic motivation and engagement. This, in turn leads to fewer absences and improvements in
academic achievement.
Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is a prevention oriented way for school
personnel to organize evidence based practices, improve their implementation of those practices,
and maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for students. (PBIS: Positive Behavioral
Interventions Supports, 2015)
Creating a system that recognizes and appreciates positive behavior is a key part of maintaining a
positive school climate.
Participants
Teams identified at the school will consist of an administrator, counselor, lead teacher, and PBIS
coordinator or other student services coordinator. Substitutions for team members are permitted
except for the school administrator.
Teams, with the assistance of a facilitator from the School Safety Resource Center, the Anti
Defamation League or the Colorado Education Initiative, would work through data and decide on a
plan of action.
After receiving the necessary training, the selected team would then present material to school staff
and monitor progress throughout the school year through staff evaluations and student and parent
surveys.
Participants include administrators, school staff, parents, and

  • 2. 1993 Ap U.S. History Dbq Essay Despite the common English backgrounds, societies in the New England and Chesapeake regions of Colonial America had split off into two incredibly different cultures: A very religiously focused New England and the more economic oriented Chesapeake. Because these regions were settled for different purposes, the development of these societies led to the distinctions between them. One of the major causes for emigration from England to North America was religious persecution. Religious tolerance in Britain for other Christian sects besides the Anglican church was virtually nonexistent, resulting in many members of other sects to seek religious haven in the colonies. The vast majority of immigrants coming to New Englandwere followers of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contrary to the pilgrims of New England, those who settled in the Chesapeake area colonized the region for more economic purposes. Many people who settled in the Chesapeake were down on their luck English citizens living in swamps and slums hoping to stake it out in the New World, because it couldn t be much worse than the conditions they faced back in England. Most received their tickets to America through indentured servitude, paying for their trip with a few years of free labor for a wealthy master. Document C is a roster of indentured servants bound for Virginia who are all set to work for the same master. Indentured servitude had long lasting effects on the colonies, the most impactful being Bacon s Rebellion in 1676 (Document H). This uprising was caused former indentured servants who had no land or property of their own once their work contracts expired. Because the land westward was populated by Natives and therefore almost impossible to acquire, the dissenters focused against the rich and powerful members of the colonies. The successful uprising led to reforms such as work regulations explained in Document E, as well a shift away from indentured servitude and towards slavery of blacks. Other settlers besides indentured servants were aspiring traders and gold hunters mentioned in Document F. While traders had little success early on and treasure hunters definitely didn t find their fields of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Johnny Byron In Jerusalem In Jerusalem, Johnny Byron is portrayed as an evil entity, compared throughout the play to ogres, dragons, wolves and an outsider on the fringes of society. This could be interpreted as Johnny being a monster, a character from a fairy tale full of magic that lures in innocent children for their rites of passage and possible downfall. However, this could be seen as an unfair interpretation of Byron due to suggestions of other more positive beings like the magic of the Romany blood and a modern day Peter Pan. The fact that he s in the forest and the fringes of society also alludes to Byron being an omniscient being. It shows Byron in a positive light because of the escape he offers to the characters and the magic of the woods and what could be considered the Green World. The two possible interpretations bring into question whether there is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Phaedra asks him if he ever gets lonely to which he responds, How can I? He refers to them as rats which supports the idea of the Pied Piper, the teenagers following him and copying his habits. On the other hand, they could be seen as Peter Pan s lost boys who follow and almost live with them. Either way, Johnny is not shown as an ogre, but a fantastical figure that provides and place to escape to and drugs to use to distract them from the possible harshness of their reality. This could be from the mundane routine that Lee seeks to escape eventually deciding to move to Australia to Phaedra escaping the reality of her abusive stepfather and the truth that she s no longer the May Queen. The Influence Of The Potsdam Conference The Potsdam Conference was held at Cecilienhof, the home of Crown Prince Wilhelm Hohenzollern, in Potsdam, occupied Germany, from 17 July to 2 August 1945. The goals of the conference also included the establishment of post war order, peace treaty issues, and countering the effects of the war. In the five months since the Yalta Conference, a number of changes had taken place which would greatly affect the relationships between the leaders. The Soviet Unionwas occupying Central and Eastern Europe and Stalin claimed that it was a legitimate sphere of Soviet influence. Roosevelt had dismissed warnings of a potential domination by a Stalin dictatorship in Europe, however, his successor Harry S. Truman became increasingly suspicious of Soviet intentions under Stalin. The Potsdam Conference marks the first and only time Truman would ever meet Stalin in person. In addition, Truman reluctantly agreed to accede to Soviet demands that Poland s new western border lay along the Oder Neisse Line. The use of these rivers to denote the new border saw Germany lose nearly a quarter of its pre war territory with most going to Poland and a large part of East Prussia to the Soviets. Though Bevin argued against the Oder Neisse Line, Truman effectively traded this territory to gain concessions on the reparations issue. The first study to be discussed carries competition into the dynamics of political affiliation during national elections (Boen et al., 2002), and the last study going further by considering peer relationships and affiliative identity (J. K. Dijkstra et al., 2010). Political affiliations. Boen et al. (2002) followed Cialdini et al. s (1976) first method to observe BIRG: establishing affiliation using emblems and representative symbols. In the study (conducted during election period), the researchers counted the number of households that displayed posters or removable lawn signs that convey support for a political party; these field observations were conducted two days prior to and one day after the election date. The number of positions won in Belgium s government was based on the total number of votes that each party has received; as a consequence, party supporters reacted differently based on the relative win loss percentages for each party. Citizens who associated themselves with parties that eventually suffered great losses in the elections immediately removed any election materials that announced their connection with the party. Conversely, those associated with parties that won significantly retained the display of their materials for longer durations. Making it a key reason that Russia has been placed under increased United States sanctions in the past. More recently Russia has been looked at for increased sanctions due to their apparent meddling in the United States previous election. It is hard to determine if previous sanctions greatly impact the economy and country as a whole. It is said that it could simply be the fall in oil prices because, Sanctions hit at the same time the price of oil, a major export and source of revenue for the Russian government, dropped dramatically, by more than 60% between the start of 2014 and the end of 2015 (Nelson, 2017). Even with the fall in oil prices the sanctions had to play some role in the dropped revenue and down grading economy. With these sanctions affecting the financial situation that Russia is experiencing it does not change the fact that they are still treating their civilians with poor respect for their human rights. Human rights are not the only reason increased sanctions could be considered, another reason could be their support for terrorism exportation. Second, sanctions can be increased due to terrorism exportation. Terrorism exportations can be described as state sponsored terrorism. There is also a middle class for hard working individuals who are neither weathly nor poor, but have a steady job and can support their family. This will be the largest class in the state. Marx would disagree with this because multiple classes will eventually lead to the wealthy exploiting the lower classes. Marx would disagree with the middle class being the staple to my society. In his opinion the middle class is nonexistent because one either makes a fortune or hardly anything at all. Marx believes that there are only two classes in society, the property owners and the property less workers (Marx [1884] 2011, 570). Capitalism fails to unite the classes and have them working for a common good, instead it is based on greed and competition which causes the estrangement out of the worker. The estrangement causes the worker to become alienated during work. There are three reasons why the worker becomes alienated and they are: labor is external to the worker, the worker alienates himself through labor, and finally man is a species being and they lose relationship to the other actors. All of the reasons of estrangement make the worker work a job where he does repetitive skills, feels unhappy, ruins his mind, and works for another worker so that person can become wealthy off of their ... Each character in the play is affected by Romeo and Juliet s love in some form. The juvenile love between Romeo and Juliet caused tragedy to become the vision of this play, together they did not fully understand how their actions would affect their families and friends. The tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is one of the most famous love stories in english literature, the characters flaws and strengths are the main reason the play s popularity Romeo claimed to love Rosaline, and was sure she was the woman he wanted to be with. She drivingly outlined the issues that Coretta Scott King fought for throughout her life, Angelou did so in a way that allowed those listening to feel connected to King. Angelou makes it clear that King s life was one of great importance. She delivered the information in a relevant and important way. Her use of relevancy, audience connections, and humor allowed her to deliver the eulogy meaningfully. Audience Connection is essential when delivering a speech, Angelou mastered the technique as seen in this speech. Angelou (2008) opens the Eulogy with a popular hymnal, I open my mouth to the Lord and I won t turn back, no. I will go, I shall go. I ll see what the end is gonna be. . This allowed her to make a connection with the audience. Many people knew this hymnal; therefore, they felt as if she is one of them. Angelou (2008) went on to say Those of us who gather here, principalities, presidents, senators, those of us who run great companies, who know something about being parents, who know something about being preachers and teachers those of us.. . Those of us referred to everyone in the audience, Angelou (2008) was including everyone and in doing so she was making an audience connection. Angelou (2008) then said we owe something from this minute on; so that this gathering is not just another footnote on the pages of history. We owe something. . No one wants to believe that their actions will be forgotten. By this point in the speech Angelou had already made an audience connection and by doing so has allowed for a call to action. This call to action is a very important part of the speech because it developed relevancy in a way that was consequential. One tool that Angelou used while giving the eulogy was relevancy. Benefits Of A Limited Liability Company A Limited Liability Company (LLC) is often regarded as a hybrid business structure: it mergers the protection of a corporation with the tax benefits and relative administrative simplicity of a partnership. For these reasons, it is considered an ideal business form for most small to mid sized businesses with multiple owners. When starting a business, partners may choose to create an LLC rather than a standard partnership, thereby obtaining the substantial benefits provided by an LLC. In this structure, the partnership agreement terms are essentially couched in the LLC Operating Agreement and govern the operation of the entity. An LLC may be directly managed by all its members (member managed LLC) or selected members appointed by the members (manager managed LLC). An LLC managed by its members operates substantially like a partnership. The major benefits of using an LLC for a partnership include: Limited liability. An LLC shields its members from incurring liability for the business debts and obligations of the other members. The limited liability protection afforded by an LLC is a significant advantage over a general a partnership structure, which does not shield its partners from the liabilities of fellow partners in the event of a partner s default or exit from the partnership Tax treatment. Harsh boundaries to vegetation patches increase the edge effects of a patch. Built up areas or man made surfaces significantly increase edge effects (Godefroid and Koedam, 2004). Distance from other native vegetation. Close proximity to other vegetation patches can allow inflow and outflow of seeds and animals and provides greater genetic variation (Bastin and Thomas, 1999). Fragment Size. Vegetation fragments contain only a selection of the species once present in an area. To get the largest possible percentage of original species and greatest diversity, the largest fragment is the best to conserve (Bastin and Thomas, 1999). These are all considered in this study to find the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Internet And The World Wide Web The Internet is a unique place where all different nationalities, social groups and age groups with different values and characteristics, meet and interact. All spheres of media are being represented on the world wide web. Some of the relations are being mirrored from those present in real life, but the internetwas never the same. As with real life, not everyone on the internet is equal and there are numerous differences between the users of this medium of mass communication. Even though the inequalities are still present on the internet, they are subtler than those existing within the offline world. Almost everyone has access, but how we benefit from it depends on our status, intelligence and willingness to explore. Audience members are becoming important and active producers, being given the tools, which bring them closer to professionals. Every internet user has equal access to an online education, but an intellectually privileged group will make a more productive use of it. This can be named as equalityof opportunity. The argument cannot be defined into one side. Average people can keep in touch and interact with celebrities, which would never happen outside the internet. They obey the same rules and laws imposed by the services they use, yet are not equal, as famous people are more powerful, being in charge of a huge fan base. Another important issue is a marginalization of societies excluded from the internet outreach. The inequalities and equalities should also be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Role Of Bread In Japanese Economic History Food of Efficiency : The Role of Bread in Japanese Economic History from the 1910s to the 1960s The history of bread in Japan began in the early Meiji Period, when Kimuraya Sohonten, a Tokyo bread store, opened and invented Anpan, a popular sweet bread with red bean paste inside. Approximately one hundred and fifty years have passed since then. In these 150 years, Japan s numerous social changes have shifted and redefined the role of breadin the Japanese diet. Frist, bread was a popular novelty food and a status symbol until the beginning of the 20th century . Between the 1910s and the 1960s, bread functioned as a food of efficiency and eventually became one of the main staple foods in Japan. Form the 1970s to the present, bread has reformed into a form of snack in the Japanese daily diet . While appreciating the delicate contemporary bread snacks , one might also notice the contrast between bread s role as snack now and its role as a food of efficiency before. How did bread become a food of efficiency, and what was the significance of this part of the history of bread in Japan? From the beginning of World War I in the 1910s to Japan s Economy Miracle in the 1960s, bread served as a food of efficiency and the history of bread in Japan closely reflected the country s industrialization and economy growth. Bread started its transformation into one staple foodof Japan in the 1910s. Japan had won the First Sino Japanese War and the Russo Japanese War in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Our Messed Up Juvenile Law System Nowadays, the topic of the Juvenile law system is a very controversial as well as difficult discussion to have. For every court case, trial, and scenario, there are many different circumstances that may affect the outcome. Due to the seriousness of their crimes or even their past offenses, juvenile criminals can sometimes be tried as adults. Personally, in the beginning of this assignment, I could see both sides of the argument. There are many reasons why children under the age of 18 should be tried as children, however, there are more proficient reasons as to why we should do away with juvenile court. Many of my peers do not think this, however, they are keen on keeping children tried as children. I truly cannot fathom the good that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her boyfriend took his eyes off of his road for a second and they are hit by an oncoming car. Deena ends up with permanent paralysis and her boyfriend is killed. The person who smashed into Deena s car was another high schooler headed to the prom. The one difference is that the driver of that car was drinking while driving. The driver of this car was 17 years old. Does that really make a difference? Absolutely not. No matter what age, if a crimeis committed, a consequence need to be put into action. Let s flip the story though. Instead of a 17 year old driving drinking, let s make it a 30 year old. Now, when this case hits the news, everyone will be so sorrowful towards the victims and want to punish the 30 year old, but when the 17 year old faces the consequences, it looks like the system is messed up, right? Wrong. Absolutely, utterly wrong. There is nothing wrong with the system, just the imbeciles that enter it. The public believes that America has given up on its juvenile delinquents. Well sorry to break it to you, but this accusation is false. The only people who have given up are the delinquents. If they do not want rehabilitation, how can we ever expect them to accept it when it is forced upon them? I do not understand the logic of people who want to rehabilitate children, but give no chance to an adult. The truth of the matter is the juvenile delinquents of today like the attention that they get when they are questioned by police. They think it is cool, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. The Relationship Between Randomness And Correlation... Whether or not it is noticed, there are numerous examples of variability in day to day life. Randomness can take many forms, but one such example is in the sport of soccer. The same two teams could play the same game against each other five times and each game could have a different score with both teams being able to win at least once. There must be a reason for inconsistencies like this. That is randomness and variability. For sure, each team has its own players with their own skills, but when it comes down to it, there s a level of randomness in the sport that can often mean the difference between a team winning or losing. Even generally speaking, the sport has randomness in it that has no hugely perceivable on the outcome of the game, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in the odd chance that there were no major delays of the game in professional soccer, the total time of the first half may be 44 minutes and 59 seconds and 10 milliseconds and so on. It is highly unlikely that play will commence for exactly 40 minutes, no more, no less. It can also be taken into account that delays are very common in the sport. Say a game time was set at 6:00 p.m., but a rain delay caused it to start at 6:10 instead. Many factors can affect the timing of soccer. Another great example is the fact that at the end of the game the referee allows for make up play. In Major League soccer lost time during played is made up after the 90 minutes had been spent. It is not uncommon to see famous players, like Cristiano Ronaldo, flop on the ground and milk an injury after an opposing player barely bumped them. This causes a major interruption of play and can cost minutes off of the clock. Brawls, streakers , injuries, and weather all affect the time span of a game. In order to make up for what was lost, the referee allots extra time after the 90 minutes has expired. This time is supposed to make up for all of the delays. However, the extra time given almost never truly matches the amount of time lost. Say during the game there was a roughly 5 minute recovery period for an injured player, a 7 minute ... • 46. Analyzing And Exploring The Global City Danielle D Amico Julia Miller Analyzing and Exploring the Global City: Sydney 3 July 2015 Research Paper Throughout the years, people from all over the world have migrated to Australia and the United States of America to create better lives for themselves such as escaping religious/political persecution, obtaining a better education, reuniting with their families, becoming exposed to more job opportunities, and various other reasons (Singer 2). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in America and Sydney, New South Wales in Australiahave similar immigration patterns, settlement trends, and impacts. However, the communities of immigrants tend to not follow the same behaviors in both cities. Immigration is vital for continuous economic and social growth. Thus, what impact does immigration have on these two cities? In 2011, Australia s population was 26% migrants compared to America s, which was only 13% ( 4102.0 Australian Social Trends, 2014 ). Migration is essential to Australia s population; in 2011, over 5 million migrants resided in Australia. Immigrants from England (over 1 million) and New Zealand (almost half a million) dominate Australia s migrant community. Australia s migrant population also includes large numbers of Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Vietnamese immigrants among many others. On average, most migrants stay in Australia for 20 years. Some migrants stay longer than others; European immigrants stay for over the average amount of years meanwhile Chinese and Indian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Positive And Positive Aspects Of A Positive School Introduction A positive school climate is essential. Schools with a positive climate tend to have less discipline problems. In addition, positive climates can encourage positive development, as well as promote academic motivation and engagement. This, in turn leads to fewer absences and improvements in academic achievement. Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is a prevention oriented way for school personnel to organize evidence based practices, improve their implementation of those practices, and maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for students. (PBIS: Positive Behavioral Interventions Supports, 2015) Creating a system that recognizes and appreciates positive behavior is a key part of maintaining a positive school climate. Participants Teams identified at the school will consist of an administrator, counselor, lead teacher, and PBIS coordinator or other student services coordinator. Substitutions for team members are permitted except for the school administrator. Teams, with the assistance of a facilitator from the School Safety Resource Center, the Anti Defamation League or the Colorado Education Initiative, would work through data and decide on a plan of action. After receiving the necessary training, the selected team would then present material to school staff and monitor progress throughout the school year through staff evaluations and student and parent surveys.
