the grave of a student, Jane, of his who fell of a horse to her death. Roethke uses imagery and diction,
among other figures of speech, to help the reader picture the young Jane that he loved and knew by
using nature to make the connection. Roethke goes on throughout the poem to compare Jane to
various types of birds, sceneries, feelings and aspects of nature by not only explaining her physical

Adoption is the process in which an adult legally becomes the guardian to a child or children that are
not biologically their own (Legal Information Institute, n.d.). Through adoption, a new family is
created and rather than looking at it as one event which many people mistakenly do it is a lifelong
process that has an effect on every aspect of all parties involved. While there are many different
components of adoption, this paper has a strong emphasis of unrelated adoptions, or adoptions by
adults who are not in any way biologically related to the child, and when fit, the adoption process and
effects specific to infants.
According to Crosson Tower (2013), adoption was originally intended for the benefit of the adoptive
parents. They would use adoption to carry on the family name or ensure they would have enough
workers/income for example. By the year 1929, all states in America had some form of adoption. Most
of the adoptions carried out at this time were from orphanages and orphan trains. It was not until the

The Social Hierarchy in Pride and Prejudice Lady Catherine will not think the worst of you for being
simply dressed. She likes to have the distinction of rank preserved (Austen 127). Distinction of social
classes has been slowly fading away in today s modern society, but contributed to create a society
dominated by a ironclad hierarchy prior to the twentieth century. Jane Austen published Pride and
Prejudice in 1813, which revolves around the love story between Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam
Darcy. Both Elizabeth and Darcy have to overcome various issues of the Regency era, and learn to
accept each other towards the end of novel. Jane Austen showcases the nineteenth century turmoil
between the upper class and the working class through the strict social hierarchy and conflicts between
the characters in Pride and Prejudice and ultimately proposes a solution towards the end of the novel.
At first, Austen reveals the tensions between the working class and the upper class and emphasizes the
rigid social structure that existed in nineteenth century London. The rigidity of the social structure can
be attributed to the fact that no class exists for itself but is bound by reciprocated rights and duties to
classes above and below (Kilger 359). Although the classes are separate and very distinct from each

continues on with this thesis, arguing that Selden posses a balance between realism and imagination,

My Personal Experience with iPod Touch
I have decided to write about the iPod Touch, a product I purchased last year when my old iPod died. I
had determined that I wanted to upgrade from the old product, and saw an opportunity to do so. I had
to put together a list of criteria, because the purchase decision was not entirely easy. The iPod Touch
has a fairly high price point, so I had to choose between a range of iPods and smartphones. The
criteria, in list form, included price, memory size, features, Wifi, phone capabilities, and operating
system.
I used a combination of talking to friends and Internet research to come to my purchase decision. It is
worth pointing out that at the beginning of the process, I had a top three list of desired qualities that
would change over the course of the research. At the outset, the first quality was memory size, since
my old iPod was a healthy 64gb. The second quality was price and the third was features. I felt that by
combining these three elements, I would be able to meet all of my needs. Not only did I want to
replace my old iPod, but I wanted better functionality, so I could do more and be more efficient.
My Internet research showed that smartphones double as mp3 players and many of them have a decent
amount of memory. This opened things up a bit. One option was that I could upgrade my phone.
Another reality that this research finding showed was that I did not have to buy an Apple product. My

From kindergarten to high school, students are told over and over again that attending college should
be their main priority. College is the way to success, or College is essential in order to find a job is
what teachers and adults implant into students heads. The education system is built around preparing
students for college. Higher education over the years however, has been increasing. College Board, an
organization that prepares students for college and administers standardized tests, showed in a study
that college tuition has been on a rise since 1973.
How much has college tuition increased? College Board indicates that in the 1973 74 school year, the
cost of tuition and fees in 2013 dollars for a four year public university was $2,710. In 2013 14 school
year, the price for a public four year university rose to $8,893 per year (College Board). The number is
different considering what type of university a student attends. A private non profit four year
university in 1973 cost $10,783 in tuition and fees. For the same type of university, the cost since has
risen to $30,094 in the 2013 14 school year (College Board). A study that is shown by Bloomberg
shows that tuition for college has risen 1,120 percent since 1978. Each schools numbers will vary.
Different schools have different student fees that students have to pay which are incorporated in their
