War On Terrorism Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "War on Terrorism" can be a challenging endeavor that
demands a comprehensive understanding of historical events, geopolitical complexities, and the
multifaceted nature of terrorism. The difficulty lies not only in presenting factual information but
also in analyzing the intricate web of causes and effects surrounding this global phenomenon.
To begin with, delving into the historical context of the war on terrorism requires extensive
research to grasp the evolution of terrorist activities, the emergence of various extremist groups,
and the responses of nations across the world. A nuanced exploration of the motives behind acts
of terror and the geopolitical dynamics that fuel these conflicts is crucial.
Furthermore, the multifaceted nature of terrorism adds an extra layer of complexity to the essay.
Addressing the ideological, religious, and socio-economic factors contributing to the rise of
terrorism demands careful consideration. It involves navigating through cultural sensitivities and
avoiding oversimplification of complex issues.
The global perspective of the war on terrorism introduces another layer of difficulty. Analyzing
the responses of different nations, the impact on international relations, and the effectiveness of
various counter-terrorism measures requires a broad knowledge base. The interconnectedness of
nations and the geopolitical implications make it essential to approach the topic with a well-
rounded understanding of world affairs.
Moreover, discussing the ethical considerations surrounding counter-terrorism efforts and the
balance between security measures and civil liberties can be intellectually demanding. It requires
the writer to critically evaluate the consequences of policies and their implications for human
rights and democratic values.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the "War on Terrorism" necessitates navigating through a
complex web of historical, geopolitical, and ethical considerations. A successful essay requires
in-depth research, critical analysis, and the ability to communicate insights in a coherent and
compelling manner. As a result, individuals seeking assistance in tackling such intricate topics
may find valuable support through professional writing services like HelpWriting.net, where a

Essay about The Evolution of Buddhism
Buddhism is a unique religion that bestows upon its members that their actions
accumulate karma and too much bad karma leads to rebirth. A person reaches
Nirvana (also known as heaven) when achieving enlightenment and is no longer
subjected to rebirth. Buddhism also believes there is no one almighty god, but rather
many gods, which they refer to as deities. Dharma is commonly known as the sacred
teachings of a deity. The Buddha is only born in certain situations that members are in
need of re teaching the Dharma. There are three schools of Buddhismalso referred to
as vehicles and are taught in different geographic regions. The first is the oldest form
known as Theravada and is usually found in Southeast Asia. The second is the most...

Suffering has a cause. Suffering can be suppressed. The way to suppression of
suffering is the noble eight fold path, which consists of right view, right intention,
right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and
right concentration, (CH EN 33). The teachings of the Buddha held a person to
high morals and conduct. If a person went against these values, it would be
considered the ultimate sin and would, therefore, be trapped in the vicious cycle of
rebirth. Theravada also known as The Doctrine of the Elders, (CH EN 30) was for
a long time the only teachings and means to obtain nirvana. Nevertheless, Mahayana
came along and the appeal of less restrictive acceptance made it popular. One of the
major schools within Mahayana is Pure Land Buddhism, which contradicted the
teachings of Theravada by allowing anyone to achieve nirvana by devotion to the
Buddha, Amitabha. In Theravada, a person s karma is the distinguishing factor of if
and how long a person may be in heaven. Nirvana is not a permanent place in
Theravada, but in Pure Land Buddhism it is and that devotion undermines the
concept of karma. The main philosophy of Pure Land is that a person is not restricted
or held to a high moral code. if a person, chants praises to Amitabha, they are
relinquished from transmigration. Theravada teaches its members that the Buddha is
a human but not a single person, while Pure Land teaches its followers that Amitabha

Summary Of The Popular Science Video Last Week Tonight
Here is my answer. In these two popular science videos, Last Week Tonight (2014),
we can see that many issues and problems of science communication are pointed out
by John Oliver. For the first issue, Oliver stats that the constant debates on some
problems and the one versus one debating model are misleading, these will make
people think the issues are still open to debate and also can make them to have
different arguments on certain problems. The second issue is the P hacking.
According to John Oliver, P hacking is a scandalous and a fictitious method that used
by scientists. It means collecting many variables and playing with data until scientists
can get something that seem to be statistically significant but perhaps meaningless.
Take website 538 as an example. The video shows that by using... Show more content

Firstly, according to Bucchi, M (2008), in the continuity model of science
communication, the science is slowly and continually moving from expert areas to
the public scientific communities and the popular level in the end. However, in the
science information movement process, information can be transformed as it moves
from levels to levels. Take the study about the effects of level of flappin on
chocolate during pregnancy as an example. This example was mentioned by Oliver
in the video. For this study, the results showed that there was no difference founded,
however, when it came to television, the study results has totally changed. Based on
this example, we can see that after scientists publishing their studies, the information
or study results can be largely changed when they are transmitting from stage to
stage. Secondly, the researchers and TV producers will choose and manipulate
particular kinds of science study to broadcast according to the feedback from
audiences, and the problem is they oversimplified the science. This could also

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of P2p File Sharing
Systems
ABSTRACT
Peer to peer (P2P) file sharing systems are becoming increasingly popular due to
their flexibility and scalability. A peer to peer, or P2P, file transfer service allows the
user to share computer files through the Internet. Examples of P2P services include
KaZaA, Grokster, Gnutella, Morpheus, and BearShare. This document is about the
peer to peer file sharing technology. It discusses about what peer to peer technology
and file sharing is. It also states the pros and cons of the peer to peer file sharing
and how Network coding is useful to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional
p2p file sharing technology, also discusses some network coding based p2p file
sharing and Microsoft Avalanche.

The originating server (the seed) makes available one copy of the file, which is then

2.Each client uploads their part of the file to other clients while simultaneously
downloading bits of the file they don t have from other clients. All the clients work
together as a swarm to share the file. The file sharing process doesn t happen in the
systematic, sequential way we show here (purely for simplicity): clients upload and
download simultaneously and the file actually builds up in a more random way.
There are often hundreds of clients involved in each swarm.
3.Eventually, every client receives a complete copy of the file. However, in this
example, as in real life, one client (lower left) finishes downloading before the
others. If the owner of that machine switches off as soon as they re done, the other

Similarities Between Witterick And David Stocker
Kathy Witterick (38) and David Stocker (39) are the parents of Jazz (5), Kio (2),
and Storm; who is being raised genderless. Storm s gender has not been disclosed
to anyone other than their family. The family receives a lot of questions about the
child s gender but they just brush it off. This all started when Jazz, born a boy,
decided he liked girlish items. Many have said they are leading their children s
lives to a life full of bullying and ridicule. Witterick and Stocker believe they are
giving their children the freedom of being who they want to be.
Stocker noticed that all parents make decisions for their children, he has let their
children pick out their clothes since 18 months. The parents only want to help their
children make decisions for themselves. The most similar developmental theory to
compare to this scenario would be Talcott Parsons, creator of structural functionalism.
He believed that society will create structures within itself that will assist with its
fundamental functioning requirements. In this case, as Storm grows and decides
what (s)he wants to become, the environment will help to make that decision. ... Show

In the past Witterick worked in violence prevention, but right now is a full time mom.

they are doing unschooling, which consists of only a day of children growing making

This paper will enumerate the objective of the financial management course offered
at the Benedictine University. I will investigate the pertinent questions that will help
evaluate the course objectives. Furthermore, the paper will evaluate the lessons
learned. In the end, an inferred decision will be made based on my evaluation of the
course. I will infer from the analysis whether the course will be worth the
stakeholders investment. A few months ago I had the opportunity to enroll and
complete an online financial management course at the Benedictine University. The
course was taught by one of the proficient professors in the department of finance.
Even though I have taken other online courses prior to this class, this particular
course is worth analyzing because it was taught by a professor that loves teaching
and his love for teaching was apparent in the way he interacted with students. In my
opinion, he is a wonderful, knowledgeable and well experienced professor. He kept
the students (team) updated by posting pertinent announcement. Considering my
training as a scientist financial management was not one of my strong subjects,
however, the professor made sure that all students had an opportunity to learn the
fundamental concepts of managing the finance of firms. To this end, he was prompt
to answer the questions and gave excellent and detailed answers to all questions
asked by the students. In terms of the class discussions his feedbacks were added
Wesfarmers Case Summary
When it comes to risks, Wesfarmers outlined some risks that would influence the
company. The report highlighted strategic, operational, regulatory, and financial.
There is no doubt that they are all crucial risks, however, they are generic risks, and I
believe there are other certain risks faced by each division.
Competition was one major risk for Coles group. Although, the competition was
getting more aggressive against Woolworths and Aldi, Coles was disciplined to its
growth strategies to continue improving its fresh offer, liquor business, and Coles
express, and that strategy gave Coles the competitive advantage over Woolworths to
record an increase of market share over its major rival Woolworths. Coles recorded an
increase in revenue, EBIT, and ROCE.

increase in earnings in 2015. Remaining focused on its price leadership and
investment in the store network were the two main strategies to increase the sales
volume and minimise arising risks like exchange rate fluctuation and competition.
Target experienced a significant drop in earnings over the last four years. Two major
risks caused that drop, which were impairment of execution of transformation plan
and re building customer trust. Target started a transformation plan two years ago
focusing on fixing the basics, improving sourcing, driving supply chain efficiencies
to improve the stock availabilities and reduce prices to be affordable for the whole
family. In 2015, Target achieved an increase in earnings over 2014, although the

Social Construction Of Race Essay
The Social Construction of Race Racism is an almost undeniable issue in the United
States. There are those fighting against racism, those fighting for it, some that
believe it doesn t even exist yet practice it daily, and everyone in between. Why does
the color of a person s skin, however, cause so much conflict amongst citizens? To
understand racism, it is imperative to understand race. Race, defined by Tanya Maria
Golash Boza, is ultimately a social construction, or an idea humans endow with
meaning through daily interactions. She states, It has no biological basis. This
might seem odd to read, as the physical differences between a Kenyan, a Swede,
and a Han Chinese, for example, are obvious. However, these physical differences
do not necessarily mean that the world can be divided into discrete racial groups
(Golash Boza, p3). The social sciences have come to reject... Show more content on

The world was not divided into racial groups before the sixteenth century, instead,
defined each other based on achievements and religion. Muslims, Christians, and
Jews lived together in harmony in Spain for hundreds of years (Golash Boza, p5).
The concept of race didn t develop until later. There are countless historic events
that have defined today s race. Before the conquest of the Americas, there was no
worldview that separates all of humanity into distinct races (Golash Boza, p4). The
Americas were home to over 100 million indigenous people, and during the first
two centuries of colonization, 95 percent of the population was destroyed. The
Spaniards used weaponry to enslave the indigenous people and forced the natives
to look for gold. The results were devastating for the atives. The Arawaks of Santo
Domingo were reduced from over 3 million pople in 1496 to a mere 125 in 1570
(Golash Boza, p8). 95 percent of the native populations were destroyed in less than

Self Impliance In Emerson s Concept Of Self-Reliance
Emerson explored the concept of self reliance in trying to come up with a
universally accepted module of evaluating self needs and how to come up with
ways to provide for these needs. Emerson express the soul plays a very significant
role in trying to define the basis under which one should avoid from being dependent
on other parties for both intellectual and spiritual needs to coming up with a line of
thinking that makes them less reliant on external bodies and hence self reliant.
According to Emerson, the sentiments that the soul provides are of more value
compared to the mere thoughts that it may contain. As Emerson said Whoso would
be a man must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not
be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore if it be goodness. Nothing is
at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Absolve you to yourself, and you
shall have the suffrage of the world (7). Emerson considers it genius for a man to
believe truly in his heart that whatever he or she believes to be the truth or fact is the
same opinion that is held by another humanbeing of group of individuals whose
thinking spaces are not interrelated in any way. The same spontaneous impression
that drives our intuition while driving art work should be the same that would drive
us to examine the matter at hand in all the day to day dealings of our lives.
However, Emerson insists that it is difficult for most people to be self reliant in their
day today operation.

A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel Essay
A Comparison of The Perfect Storm Movie and Novel
The Perfect Storm is a novel written by Sebastian Junger, that retells the horrific
story of fishermen and sailors who were caught in the eye of the worst storm in
history. The book mainly focuses on the Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat, with a
crew of 6 men, who disappeared without a trace deep into the northern atlantic sea. In
the year 2000, almost 10 years after the tragic event took place, a motion picture,
perfectly titled, The Perfect Storm which was based on the novel was released. There
were subtle to few changes in the plot line of the story, however there were many
differences among the book and movie. The movie is very intact with the plot and ...

The movie didn`t portray an important aspect, when the Andrea Gail was replacing
and upgrading its gears in the beginning, but the book did. That played a key role in
why the Andrea Gail was caught in the storm in the first place. The ice machine had
broken down leaving the crew with no choice but to return home, which meant
heading into the storm, otherwise the fish they had worked so hard to catch would
spoil, making a whole waste of the trip. There were also details within the book that
offered much enlightment about the sea, the life of a fisherman, how a person dies,
and storms, yet the movie failed to offer that. That`s just one more argument for the
debate of whether its better to read the book or watch the movie.
There were certain plots that took place in the movie, but wasn`t mentioned in the
book, if not then it was only briefly brought about. When the 6 men were out in the
bar drinking and partying the night before they were off to sea once again, the
book mentioned only briefly about Murph, one of the crewmen, ?he has an ex wife
Debra, and a three year old baby, also named Dale, whom he openly adores?. In the
movie, it showed Murph and his son, who wasn`t three years old, but older, in the
movie, bonding that last night. However, the book never mentioned this event taking
place. The movie creator

Understanding Black Holes
Scientific Understanding of Black Holes Black holes are a place in space where
the pull of gravity is so strong that anything including light is able to escape.
Researchers say that the gravity of a black hole is so strong because matter is
pressed into a tiny space. Black holes are sometimes called dying stars or they result
in dying stars. There are many different sizes of black holes, but the three most
common are primordial black holes, stellar, and supermassive. This list goes from
smallest to largest.
These size differences makes them so they can form in different ways. Primordial
black holes are said to be formed right after the big bang. Stellar black holes form
when a very massive star collapses on itself. These are also called exploding stars or a
supernova. Supermassive black holes are formed at the same time in the same galaxy
. With all these facts about black holes I can determine the difference between what
NASA thinks they are and what the movie thinks they are.
How the Video Accurately Showed Black Holes In the movie Interstellar there s a

The main difference is what it looks like. Scientists say the way the movie
describes a black hole and the events that happen with it, should look more

the look of a black hole it would have gas wrapped up and around the top and the
bottom of the black hole. The movie was said to enhance the light of the black hole
and yet they really are not that bright. Other than these descriptions, other differences

Key Differences In Bulb Development And Limb
Regeneration
Amphibians and mammals show similarities in their development, but also have
many differences. One of these major, and possibly most important, differences is an
amphibian s ability to regenerate its limb from the amputated area. The article
suggests the main difference in limb development and limb regeneration are in the
manners the processes are initiated. The process is largely dependent on the cells
ability to commit once it has specified. The paper attempts to make sense of limb
regeneration through various models that show the steps of regeneration
scientifically accepted today. It is important to note that key differences exist
between the two processes such as the ability of the proliferating progenitor cells to
revert back to their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the boundary model the anterior, posterior, dorsal, and ventral regions set up a
concentration gradient using the morphogen like epidermis that formed into a soluble
substance as it moves along the distal axis. It sets up the different structures once
amputation has taken place. The sonic hedgehog sets up a gradient along the anterior
posterior axis while stimulating the production of the new limb along the distal axis.
According to Mariana Martin, this model only works if the salamander retains its
axis such that the posterior region is thinner than that of the anterior (Martin, 2008).
This model of morphogen behavior follows temporal order such that sonic hedgehog
gradients set up the posterior distal axis through compiling the blastemal cells, which
acts to trigger BMP signaling. This in turn activates the FGF signaling pathway. This
pathway shows similarities to that of the homeotic genes of the drosophila, which
have segmentation due to the homeotic genes. When one of these genes are not
expressed, or in other words knocked off this results in a defect that can lead to a
missing region on the drosophila (Gilbert, 2014). This yields similar results in the
salamander but instead uses genes such as band2, which results in lack of posterior
characteristics on the salamander. With these similarities, it makes tracking gene
expressions in regeneration comparable to that in the development of other organisms
The Art Of Listening And Communication And Listen Skills
What I ve Learned
What stood out to me when I read The Art of Listening and Communication Listen
Skills is that I have to take other people s feelings into consideration. Being able to
understand others is essential to my learning. The reason for mentioning this I
need to be open to what people have to say because I don t know where they are
coming from. In the Art of Listening, it stated that a person should us I when are
taking charge, we do so to form unity. The only you should ever be used to address
someone in a group who is not contributing. Effective Listening skills states that
people react to 55 percent facial expression, 38 percent tone of voice and 7 percent
words. I will take this into consideration when applying these skills and by keeping
a low voice a straight face. These listening skills can be used in a classroom when
speaking to a professor or student by keeping full eye contact with an attentive facial
expression. This indicates you are listening to what they are saying and are serious
about learning. Furthermore, I need to writing down everything the professor says
because it can be essential for the exam. If I feel uncomfortable because of
something the professor said I should address it after class in a respectful manner.
Some of many benefits I can learn from improving my communication skill is
empathy. This is because I need to be sensitive with the way I speak to someone
because my words can be hurtful. This can also lead
The Effects Of Media Violence In The Media
Introduction With the recent increase in media presence throughout the world, there
has also been an increase in violence portrayed through the media. Media violence is
believed to be causing aggression in today s youth and society. This paper will

Review of Literature
In a study conducted, media psychologists, mass communication scientists,
pediatricians, and parents all completed an anonymous online survey that asked
whether they believed that exposure to different types of violent media, such as

programs, or video games, increased aggression in children and whether it is a major

In experiment one, fifty men and fifty women that were undergrad psychology
students served as subjects. Ten subjects of each gender were randomly assigned to
see one of five videos that varied in violent content. The main dependent variable in
the first experiment was the number of aggressive thoughts listed by the subject
immediately after watching the video. The second dependent variable was the subject
s violence rating of the video they viewed. Immediately after viewing the video,
each subject filled out a set of 5 point rating scales indicating the degree to which
the video had been enjoyable, amusing, realistic, and violent. They found that,
aggressive thoughts and violence ratings both increased with the level of violence
in the video which supported the hypothesis. Experiment 2 allowed a test of the
replicability of the findings of Experiment 1 by including ratings of videotape
violence and listing of thoughts following observation of the tapes. This time,
however, each subject was tested individually in a small cubicle. The procedure was
very similar except just prior to observing a videotape, the subject was given the
adjective checklist, and baseline blood pressure and pulse rate were measured. During
the showing of the video, the subject s blood pressure and pulse rate were measured
three times during a 2 min interval. After viewing the videotape, the subject listed
their thoughts, rated the video, provided information about television viewing habits,

The Importance Of Religion In Colonial New England
Although European colonists traveled to colonial New England for a variety of
reasons, they embraced Christianity as the primary purpose for their journeys.
Furthermore, religion had a profound effect on everyday society and political
hierarchies. From enforced morality to Indian conflicts, religion tended to destabilize
numerous colonies and even led to unjustifiable atrocities like the Salem Witch Trials.
Nevertheless, without a religious influence, the timeline of New World progression
and territory would have been suspended indefinitely. Because religionprimarily
influenced the establishment of the colonies and numerous aspects of politics, it
played an integral role in colonial New England society. Even with distinct religious
motives splitting the early arrivals, the settlers clearly viewed Christianityas the
reason for their departure. Separatists and Puritans differed on their ultimate reason
for sailing thousands of miles from home. While Separatists wanted to completely
isolate themselves from England to achieve a godly society, Puritans desired to
provide an ideal example for how English Christians should live. This early instance
foreshadows the numerous interpretations of Christianity which would lead to
undesirable outcomes. However, even with these differences, religious motivation
definitively proves itself as the primary factor for travel. After these early
developments, the establishment of MassachusettsBay proved to be the most

Onomatopoeia In Fireworks
Boom, Boom, Boom! Is an example of onomatopoeia, which is a figurative language.
In the song Fireworks by Katy Perry is filled with numerous types of figurative
language and poetic elements. From personification to internal rhyme, there is more
to it. Along with that, there are means behind the words. Throughout the song, what
the singer is saying is that you are unique and that you should show others what you
got.
In the first three lines, the figurative language, personification is identified. Which
means that you are giving a human trait to an object. The singer was giving a human
feelings to a plastic bag, saying it wanted to start again . What the singer is saying is
that you are a plastic bag and you are wanting to start something
Organizational Behavior And The Organization
It is important to understand what behavior and culture in an organization means in
order to have a better understanding of the whole scenario. From this perspective, then
a manager can better know how to incorporate what he or she knows and what the
organization at large is comprised of. According to Borkowski, (2011), the definition
provided states that organizational behavior is the study of individuals and group s
dynamics within an organization setting (p.3). Organizational cultureon the other
hand can be described as the system where shared values, beliefs and actions are
developed thereby, guiding the behavior of the organization. It is therefore imperative
to understand that there is bound to be a certain behavior in any... Show more content

These behaviors definitely play an important role in developing, enhancing the overall
performance of the organization, the individual and groups by bringing satisfaction
and encouraging commitment to each other s part. Communication, motivation and
leadership are concepts within the organizational behavior and are therefore
considered as skills managers and leaders need to possess in order to lead the
dynamic and complex industry of healthcare (Borkowski, 2011, p.4). Healthcare has
definitely evolved with time and given the service related intensity of this industry
managers should be able to predict influence the behavior or employees in order to
achieve the goals for their organizations. Managers are expected to understand the
causes of workplace problems, conflicts, stress thereby minimizing negative
outcomes. These changes in healthcare has seen patients becoming more informed
and in turn have more expectations of their care providers and the hospital
organizations. These trends and changes, therefore, have forced managers and leaders
change how employees carry out their job responsibilities.
Workplace communication is essential as information is relayed from one individual
to another or from one department to another and therefore the way it is transmitted
and received will ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Through communication
managers can organize,

Muscling Into the Mainstream
Summary of Article The title of my article is called Muscling Into the Mainstream,
and it was written in the New York Times on August 7, 2008. What this article is
trying to discuss is how Under Armour is steadily moving itself into the mainstream
of selling performance and/or sportswear. It talks about what target markets that
Under Armour is pursuing and what strategies it has used or is currently using to
reach out to those target markets. It also talks about how Under Armour has strictly
controlled its distribution to sporting goods stores, military base exchanges, and
sports and military oriented outlets. Finally, the ... Show more content on

An enemies weak spots are natural targets and the flank attack focuses on attacking
those natural weak spots through geographic dimensions and segmental dimensions.
In this case, Under Armour uses the segmental dimension. The segmental dimension
serves the market s uncovered needs. As a matter of fact, according to the Flank
strategy, the purpose of marketing is to discover needs and satisfy them. This is
exactly what Under Armour has done and what it continues to do. It has been the
fuel that steers this ship to success. Under Armour is deliberately planning its
future according to its consumer base. For example, Under Armour is has recently
entered the cross training footwear market by releasing a very specific product
which I will explain later in the paper. When CEO Kevin Plank was asked as to
why he was pursuing the cross training category, his answer was simple: It s the
same reason we went after football cleats, because our customer asked us for it.
(Olson 2008) This marketing concept has not only helped Under Armour grow
exponentially, but it has helped Under Armour separate itself from other sportswear
giants like Nike. Nike s philosophy which believes in telling the athlete what s best
for them portrays them as being the loud, stubborn, know it all type whereas Under
Armour portrays themselves as the player friendly coach, who listens to its player s
feedback and adjusts its game plan accordingly.

Hale Telescope Essay
Throughout the history of human civilization humans have tried to find connections
between the observations of the sky and their ideas about the nature of the universe.
People have always been enchanted by the stars and their endless number. The
mathematical meaning of infinity was attributed to ancient Greek philosopher
Archimedes. After Galileo invented the telescope which allowed him to discern
innumerable number of stars in the galaxy, astronomers had acquired a powerful tool
to investigate celestial phenomena and objects. Since then, many scientists have tried
to create a model of the universethat could be used to explain its nature and calculate
its characteristics. The emergence of more powerful telescopes allowed astronomers
to discover... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Palomar was launched. At that time, it was the world s largest and most powerful
telescope. According to Dr. Ira S. Bowen, director of observatory, Hale telescope is
able to photograph stellar objects that are located billions of light years away from
our planet. Data received with this instrument enabled the scientists to significantly
expand the limits of their knowledge of the universe. It became obvious that the
universe is much larger than astronomers previously thought. The most remote
objects that prior telescopes could register were only 109 light years away from
the Earth. Notable stellar object 3C 147 was discovered using Hale telescope.
Later this object was qualified as a quasar, which is used to describ the most distant
nucleus from the earth with high energy. Apparently, this object is located so far
away that scientists could not give its accurate distance in light years. However,
astronomers stated that 3C 147 has red shift of 54.5%. Cosmological red shift is a
physical phenomenon due to the expansion of the universe and the measurement of
the red shift gives the approximate distance estimation of a nucleus from the earth.
The discovery of such distant object showed that estimates of the size of the
universe, made by scientists of the 1920s, were inaccurate. For example, 3C 147 is
located outside the Einstein universe since the curvature radius of the universe,
estimated by astronomers of the 1920s, was less than the distance to the
Drones Laws Pros And Cons
Even with the laws that are in place drones tend to be able to work around them.
They are able to maneuver through each and every loophole of the jurisprudence for
warrantless searches (Koerner, 2015, para. 5). If the current laws are not sufficient
enough to regulate drones and protect people s personal privacy, then new laws are
needed. But, there are conflicting thoughts as to who should make those laws and
regulate drones. Currently most laws regarding drones are created and enforced by
each state individually. Although, only eight states have enacted laws regarding
drones, even among those eight states there are varying definitions for what
constitutes as a drone (Matiteyahu, 2015, para. 33 34). Some people believe that

More and more drones are being flown above people s heads and they are afraid
that they will no longer be able to travel out of their house without having the
whole world watching. They do not want to be spied on by unknown watchers and
especially not the government. It becomes all the more frightening when someone
didn t even realize till much later that they were being watched. Because of the
increasing concern about drones there is controversy around the laws that should
be made and who should make them. Some people even think that the current laws
are enough for the time being. Even with all the issues and controversy
surrounding drones they should not be overlooked and forgotten about. There are
plenty of benefits that drones provide, from helping in the case of disasters to
conservational uses. It is thought by some people that drones will help with
securing privacy rather than merely invading it. There is still a lot of research that
can be done in this area. There is the question of who should regulate drones
regarding privacy and why. Should the FAA because they already regulate drone
safety in national air space? Should all the states have their own laws or should
congress make national laws? There can also be research done to know the current
extent of privacy invasion. Is the public s fear based off hypotheticals only or are
there a multitude examples that
A Famine Primary Source Of The Irish Potato Famine

More than a million Irish people died during the Irish Potato famine that hit Ireland
between 1845 to 1849 (Pollard, pg. 551). Potatoes were the primary diet of the Irish,
especially the Irish Lump potato. When the fungal disease hit, known as potato
blight, the Irish potato crops were lost. After reading primary sources regarding the
Irish Potato Famine, the reader can visualize the horrors that the Irish people endured
during the Irish Potatoes Famine including starvation, the physical and the mental
effects that go along with it, the loss of family members, and especially witnessing
their children starve and die. Both Trench and Bennet had the purpose and intent of

children that were still alive had only one dish of barley for the last four days.
Even though his descriptions of what he witnessed may have been the truth and he

Analysis Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer directed by Joss Whedon was an American television
series which came to air on March the 10th, 1997 until the last season in May,
2003. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was based on a young woman named Buffy
Summers, who battled against vampires and demons in her hometown Sunnydale.
Buffy was depicted as a strong female role model who was extremely loyal to her
sister Dawn and her best friend Willow. She also gained a lot of power through
fighting the vampires and demons, again showing her strong female role modelling in
the series. Buffy was also a good listener to Giles her watcher/mentor and surrogate
father figure, many of the techniques he taught her helped with her strength when
fighting against the demons. Some of the features and filmdevices used to describe
Buffy as a characterincluded the camera angles and shots as well as the lighting
techniques. These film devices and techniques were used throughout the series to
help present Buffy as a strong female character. Buffy can also be compared to
other strong fictional female role models such as, Katniss Everdeen from The
Hunger Games (22ndMarch 2012), and a slightly weaker character, Elle Woods
from Legally Blonde (11thOctober 2001). Consequently, Katniss was presented as
a great role model because her qualities were admired and she was hard to like by
other characters in the story, she also comes across as tough and hostile, whereas
Elle was able to face challenges of being labelled as the dumb

more about his ancestors and get more information about the worldthey lived in.

to rebuild the world from square one. History should be recorded so that the world

Some people believe that history is not important, others strongly disagree, their point
is not going to go unnoticed though. Some people want to live life one day at a time
and not have to worry about how their actions could affect themselves or their future.
Living life one day at a time sounds refreshing but it is unrealistic. We would still
be cavemen if we didn t use our knowledge to help us advance. Ignorance is not the
answer especially if we hope to continue our advancement s in the world. Not
having history can also affect how you see people from the past. We know that the
people here before us were ordinary people not gods but John does not know that,
John thinks that his ancestors are godly and mysteriously hidden behind their
ambiguity. John realizes that his ancestors are ordinary people but this is not
because of the knowledge he was taught in a history book, this is because he had to

It is a great knowledge, hard to tell and believe. They were men they went a dark

Infertility is the inability or failure to conceive after a year of regular intercourse
without contraception. There are two categories to classify infertility, primary and
secondary. Primary infertility occurs in women who have never conceived while
secondary infertility occurs in women who had a previous conception. Affecting
about one in six couples, there are many causes of infertility. A little more than half of
cases of infertility are attributed to female conditions. Female conditions include

Any changes in the function of the glands would affect ovulation and therefore, many
causes of the dysfunction affect the glands in some way.
Premature ovarian failure, a cause of ovulatory dysfunction, is a disorder believed
to be due to genetic abnormalies which leads to the faster depletion of eggs in an
ovary. Women who have this disorder lose more eggs during menstruation than
normal women, eventually leading to early menopause. Hypothyroidism and
hyperthyroidism are diseases of the thyroid gland, also are causes of ovulatory
dysfunction though it is not very clear how. Hypothyroidism is when the woman
does not produce enough thyroid hormone while hyperthyroidism is where too
much thyroid hormone is produced. These abnormalies lead to higher amounts of
estrogen in a woman, and therefore interfere with the growth of the follicle and
affect the amount of FSH and LH that is required for the release of the egg.
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a disease which follicles don t mature, causing them
to sometimes become ovarian cysts. Women with this disease don t ovulate for
periods of time. A suggested theory is that high levels of LH found in these women
cause ovulatory dysfunction. Hyperprolactinema is the too much prolactin in a
woman s body. Prolactin is a hormone that is needed to produce breast milk and too
much of it would cause a decrease in FSH and LH, affecting the maturing of a
follicle. It would also disrupt the amount of other hormones needed
Master Harold and the Boys Critical Analysis
Master Harold... and the Boys
Athol Fugard s Master Harold... and the Boys is an instant classic that does a
superior job at encompassing the complex of racial hierarchies and interracial
friendships that existed in South Africa in the mid 20th century. Set in 1950 the play
follows the everyday lives of its two main protagonists: Hally, a white, seventeen year
old male discontented with his schooling, and Sam, a middle aged, black servant of
Hally s family. During this period the rigid racial structure of Apartheid remained
dominant in the nation, institutionalizing the already understood separation of
disenfranchised blacks and privileged whites. These de jur social classifications

Eventually convinced of the impossibility and distracted by his school work, the
thought nevertheless preoccupies our young protagonist s mind, coloring each action
and reaction throughout the rest of the play. The moment of engagement is closely
married to the introductory incident in this work as the audience s intriguing moment
is parallel to Hally s emotional commitment to the idea of his father s return. Unable
to divorce his mind from this subtle inkling of helplessness, Hally s tone sharpens
considerably as he attempts to solidify his own authority through discourse with Sam
coupled with sharp remarks. Don t try to be clever, Sam. It doesn t suit you. Anybody
who thinks there s nothing wrong with this world needs to have his head examined.
(Jacobus, 1403).
The major peripetie of the work occurs when Hally s mother phones again to
confirm his worse fear: his father is adamant about his return home. At this point all
civil facades are dashed by Hally in a vain attempt to solidify his own importance
though coupled with the genuine emotional struggle of a young boy at odds with his
father. Searching for an outlet the rising action of the play takes a dramatic turn
from a slight incline to a steep hill as Hally visibly changes gears from distraught
and confused to violently offensive. And I m telling you you don t! Nobody does.

Hook: 1281 goals scored by one man during his soccer season. Born into poverty.
Started a soccer revolution in America. If I were to ask you, do you know of the
world famous soccer player who goes by the name of Pele, you would probably ask
who or what I am talking about. At least that s the response I got countless times as
I asked my friends. That A national treasure as described by Wikipedia is an
artifact, institution, or public figure regarded as being emblematic of a nation s
cultural heritage or identity. Did you know that the most famous soccer player in
the world is regarded as a national treasure by Brazil? Did you know that because of

He played were ever he could with his neighborhood friends The field they played
on everyday was only dirt, there was no grass and no lines. Nevertheless it was
ample for Pele as well as all the other boy s. They didn t complain about the field
they just played the beautiful game of soccer. As the boy s sharpened their soccer
skills they determined it was time to form a soccer team, so the September 7th
club came about in honor of the street they played on. Now that they had a team of
aspiring young soccer players, moreover they decided they needed jerseys. The
boy s got together and debated ideas to make just that happen. They knew that their
parents didn t have the funds for such a trivial thing so so they needed to think of
other ways to get the uniforms. One of the brilliant plans they had that didnt turn
ot so well was stacking firewood for their own parents. The arrangement was that
one of the boy s would not be home when he was needed to stack firewood. Another
one of the boy s from the team would suddenly appear, by the house in need of
wood stacking. He would see the other boy s mother calling for him to stack the
wood. Because the boy was not there the generous team member would stack the
wood for the mother in hopes of getting a little
A Student Desk That Will Be More Efficient For The
Students
For my design I will do a student desk that will be more efficient for the students to
work on. The age range for the desk can be from third graders to any age student.
For the desk I will be creating, the gender does not matter. The occupation for my
desk will be for students to work on and also have extra things to meet their needs.
This deskI will be creating could be for anyone, ranging from an amateur to a
professional. The desk could be for non disabled students to disabled students. The
target customer for the desk would be mostly students. Students need to have a
better desk, but they also need a place to put their computers or i pads too. It s a
very difficult process to take out a computer then put the computer back when you
re done. Some computers are sometimes also broken because other students used it,
or not charged at all. So, I will be making a compartment at the corner of the desk
where the computer ,or whatever you have, will be in the compartment at all times.
When you need it, you just push the desk down and it will rise up to show anything
you need with a hole that you can put a charger through it. The compartment also
needs to be big enough so anything would fit in it. There are many desksout in the
world, but many desks aren t fit to be for a student. When I researched student
desks I found that many desks weren t made to be for students. The desks were
very tiny and not big enough to hold books in. Some desks don t even have a place
to put books
New Technology Has Affected Traditional Graphic Design
New technology has affected traditional Graphic Design
During the past years, graphic design has been changing all over the world,
especially regarding the use of certain techniques of designing. Traditional
principles and techniques of design allow designers to be more creative, but more
and more designers are using computers. So, is new technology good or bad? It may
seem strange to consider the different aspects of graphic design because most people
only know the technological side. Though most people think graphic design is more
about the digital media, it is actually a complicated process that requires creativity
that computers cannot supply.
Some of the new generation graphic designers argue that hand made work is not
as effective nor trendy as a digital version of the work. However, traditional design
has many advantages that digital design does not. Starting a design on a piece of
paper helps the brain to be more productive, creating the new ideas out of the first
one. As an illustration, a study was made regarding the topic, in which 10 people,
including artist and non artists were required to draw using only sheets of paper
and 16 pastel pens, to research how drawing is an excellent therapy for creative
expression that also showed how the brain rhythm changes in order to help the
whole creative process. All participants were recruited via email and each one was
scheduled for an individual session, they were supervised to easily measure the

SINUSITIS
INTRODUCTION
Infections of the sinuses are not a pleasant thing to have for anyone. Each year,
once spring comes and again during cold and flu season, a large number of people
develop allergies or sinus blockages that are typically very unpleasant. Allergies from
pollen and blockages from the cold or flu, sometimes develop into more serious
conditions such as sinusitis. Both acute and chronic sinusitis can be debilitating; as
anyone that has ever had a sinus infection can attest to. Anyone who suffers sinusitis
can testify to the headaches, difficulty breathing and its ability to impair the
simplest of tasks. For people, prone to these infections, life can be difficult and they
will seek and form of relief. However, there are ... Show more content on

However, chronic sinusitis that has turned bacterial can be treated and the normal
course of action is to prescribe antibiotics. Antibiotics are effective in treating
Sinusitis and according to Richard Rosenfeld, M.D., (2016) in his paper titled
Acute Sinusitis in Adults, it is stated that, antibiotics are prescribed for 84 to 91%
of patients with acute sinusitis that is diagnosed in emergency departments and
outpatient settings (p. 962). Although antibiotics are the go to cure for Sinusitis,
making the duration shorter, it has been shown that most cases clear up on their
own with no need for medications at all. In his paper, Doctor Rosenfeld (2016)
also notes, approximately 85% of persons have a reduction or resolution of
symptoms within 7 to 15 days without antibiotic therapy (p.962). So, it has been
shown that although a nuisance, most people have sinusitis resolve itself after
about 2 weeks and antibiotics really should only be used for severe cases that do
not resolve on their own. So, what does a severe case of sinusitis look like, what
factors are involved and just how bad can this infection get when it does not resolve
on its own but instead turns much

Introduction. Circadian Or Diurnal Rhythms Are Metabolic
Introduction
Circadian or diurnal rhythms are metabolic or behavioural rhythms, in animals and
plants, that occur usually within a 24 hour cycle (Abercrombie et al. 1990). The
changes in body temperature over the course of a day (24 hours), or in the case of
females, over a month, is one of the most documented human circadian rhythms.
Body temperature as well as circadian rhythms in humans is controlled by the
hypothalamus, a small region of the brain that forms part of the autonomic nervous
system. The hypothalamus synthesizes neurohormones, which are used to control the
secretions of other hormones by the pituitary gland, which is linked to the
hypothalamus.
It is well known that long distance flights have many effects on the ... Show more

In fact it is the hormone, melatonin which is released by the pineal gland that is
responsible for controlling the sleep cycle (Society for Endocrinology, 2015).
Melatonin production increases as it becomes dark and is supressed to a degree by
light. Melatonin causes drowsiness by lowering the core body temperature. It has
been found that the hormone is also released when one is stressed which can occur
while in flight. The body reacts to the untimely release of melatonin and disrupts the
circadian rhythm, which raises the body temperature and lowers it at the wrong time
of day.
It naturally will take time for the bodies internal clock to readjust to a normal rhythm,
and, if travelling to a different time zone, the body has to adjust to a different day
night cycle.
Aims
The main aim of this study and experiment is to see if all long haul flights,
irrespective of direction, result in a degree of jet lag as reflected by one of the affected
circadian rhythms, namely body temperature.
The study aims to determine whether the hypothesis is correct. An additional aim is
to see if average body temperature is lowered during the flight and fluctuates less
than in a normal 24 hour cycle. Should there be enough suitable participants, another
aim is to see whether people over the age of 30 take longer to return to their normal
body temperature circadian rhythm than those under the age of 30.
Research Hypothesis
It takes between 36 and 48 hours to return to a
Materialism In The Necklace And The Gift Of The Magi
We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give (Winston
Churchill). While money is necessary, an abundance isn t required to be happy.
Attaining happiness comes through serving others. The Necklace and The Gift of the
Magi share a valuable lesson about materialism. However, both stories have a
different outlook. In The Necklace, Madame Loisel s materialism is selfishness. In
The Gift of The Magi, Della and Jim s materialism selflessness. The placing of
value on materialistic goods can end up positively or negatively impacting one s
life. In The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant the only thing that seems to make Loisel
happy are things that money can buy. Unlike in the Gift of the Magi by O. Henry,

possibly be without money, it s still not good enough. She longs to be the best and
she won t settle for less, if she can help it! Madame Loisel gets her wish and attends
a party. Afterwards, she realizes she has lost her friend s diamond necklace. She
bought a replacement identical necklace and for the next ten years with her
husband, they finally pay it off. Once the debt is paid, she tells her friend the misery
she s been through and how it was all her fault. Her friend replies that the diamonds
were imitation and hardly worth anything. Madame Loisel s unintended negative
consequences lead her to live a life far from what she wanted.
In the Gift of the Magi, there are two objects that are extremely important to the
Dillingham family. However, they learn that while the objects used to have the

Form start to finish, this novel has had one strong, female central

soon adapts to the strict regime. For the first time,
Jane meets a friend, Helen Burns. She is amazed at Helen s restraint and acceptance

three, very similar occurrences in Jane s early years, we can establish through
passionate outburst and a reluctance to be intimidated that Jane was most definitely a
strong, female, central character.
You are too compulsive; too vehement!
Wise words from Helen burns, Jane s earliest friend who taught her many life lessons.
It was shortly after Helen s death that Jane felt ready to leave

In typical Jane manner , she acted upon her impulses and advertised her services in
the newspaper as a governess. At this point in the essay, it is interesting to note the
social and conventional position of women at this time the 1840s. In Victorian
Britain; young, poor women such as Jane would have had two options become a
full time wife and mother or become a governess; it would be morally improper for
a female to do anything else. While doing a study into the lives of women in the
1800s, Joyce Carol Oates discovered that women were, Imagined as merely inhabiting
bodies meant to bear children and, being in other respects, tasteless without appetite.

Summary Of Four Perfect Pebbles
Four Perfect Pebbles was written by Lila Perl and Marion Blumenthal Lazan. The
biography is about Marion Blumenthal and her family s horrific life during the
holocaust. Marion was born on December 20, 1934 in Bremen, Germany. Marion
and her family were sent to a Nazi concentration camp when she was only nine years
old. She managed to survive the holocaustand has been telling others about her
experience for the last 36 years. She is now 83 years old and is still traveling to tell
her story.
For the first four years of Marion s life she lived in Hoya, Germany with her mother
Ruth, her father Walter, and her older brother Albert. She and her family lived on
the third floor of a tall building while her grandparents lived on the second floor.
On the first floor of the building was a store owned by her father and grandfather.
By the early 1930 s Hitler and his Nazi party had quickly rose in number. In 1932, the
Nazi party had 37% of the popular vote; they were the largest party in Germany.
This alarmed Marion s family greatly because the Nazis considered Jews inferior to
other German citizens. Hitler s hatred of the Jews only fanned the flames of anti
Semitism. On April 1, 1933 Hitler ordered a boycott of Jewish owned businesses,
which affected the income of the Blumenthal family. As the tension continued to rise
against the Jews the younger Blumenthals thought that they should make plans to
leave Germany but the older Blumenthals thought differently. Soon after Hitler

Background Information And Data Exploration Essay
Background Information and Data Exploration
The data set our group chose to analyze looks at alcohol consumption for students in
Portugal given a set of demographic, familial, academic and social characteristics.
With this data set in particular, it is important to note that in Portugal, the legal
drinking age is sixteen years old and most of the participants in the data set are of
legal drinking age. One hundred ninety five participants out of one thousand forty
four total participants, or 18.68%, are underage. The data set was extremely clean,
as there were no missing values in the data set. Examples of the variables provided
were: sex, age, address (urban v. rural), parental status (together v. apart), mother s
education, father s education, guardianship, travel time to school, study time,
number of classes failed, school support, extracurricular support, etc. Of all the
provided variables, the three variables that our group chose to remove from our data
set were school, reason and weekend alcohol consumption. The variable school only
told the reader, whether the student attended Gabriel Pereira or Mousinho da Silveira.
As a group, we justify removing this variable in order to make our findings more
applicable to the general population, and not just those students who attended either
of the two schools. The other variable we removed was reason. This variable
represents the reason that the student attended the school that he or she did, whether
it be reputation or the

Euthanasia: A Moral Dilemma
In a brightly lit, cold white room, Dr. Jesse is discussing the extent of the life
threatening disease that a patient, Mark, has. Mark has a chance of survival, but
only for about two torturous months where he will have to separate himself from
his normal life and engage in chemotherapy every day. When first hearing about his
situation, Mark immediately decides that plowing through two painful months is
not worth his time or effort, and he wishes to end his life on a positive note
without wearing down his body since he will have to depart sooner or later
anyways. Now when confronted with Mark s decision, Dr. Jesse freezes and
rationalizes with his beliefs to try and figure out the morally correct resolution to
this problem. Like Mark, many other ill patients ask for life termination to relieve
themselves from suffering and many other doctors, like Dr. Jesse, are also placed in
this position where they must choose to either follow the patients requests, or to try
and keep the patient living despite their wishes. Who has the power to make this
decision about ending a patient s life, and to what extent? A terminally ill patient has
the right to request the act of euthanasia as long as he or she is deemed as consciously
aware.

Nuclear Force Research Papers
Nuclear forces have been around the human race since the beginning of time, though
it was not until recently that people began to understand it. Nuclear decay has
helped scientists discover how long unstable isotopes maintain their unstable state
before becoming a more stable isotope. The study of nuclear chemistry has given
people in the medical field powerful tools to combat feared illnesses such as cancer.
Nuclear forces have also provided an alternative energy source to coal and natural gas.
The field of nuclear chemistry encompasses many aspects including nuclear decay,
radioactive elements in medicine, and nuclear energy. Alpha, beta, gamma to many

Nuclear medicine however has made it possible to treat cancer. One of the forms
of cancer treatments that involve radioactive materials is radiation therapy.
Radiation therapy utilizes X and gamma rays to target and kill the cancer cells.
Radiation therapy kills cancer cells by damaging their DNA. Radiation can either
damage the DNA directly or create charged particles in cells that in turn damage the
DNA. ( Radiation Therapy for Cancer ) Radiation therapy affects only the selected
area of treatment, whereas other treatments such as chemo therapy affects the entire
body. Radiation therapy can be administered two different ways. The first method
of administration is internally. Radiation is injected directly into the blood stream
where it travels to the cancerous area. The other method of administering radiation
therapy is externally. Many types of external beam radiation therapy are delivered
using a machine called a linear accelerator (also called a LINAC). A LINAC uses
electricity to form a stream of fast moving subatomic particles. This creates high
energy radiation that may be used to treat cancer. ( Radiation Therapy for

This text show that Black Americans do not have the same job opportunity and their

  • 2. Essay about The Evolution of Buddhism Buddhism is a unique religion that bestows upon its members that their actions accumulate karma and too much bad karma leads to rebirth. A person reaches Nirvana (also known as heaven) when achieving enlightenment and is no longer subjected to rebirth. Buddhism also believes there is no one almighty god, but rather many gods, which they refer to as deities. Dharma is commonly known as the sacred teachings of a deity. The Buddha is only born in certain situations that members are in need of re teaching the Dharma. There are three schools of Buddhismalso referred to as vehicles and are taught in different geographic regions. The first is the oldest form known as Theravada and is usually found in Southeast Asia. The second is the most... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suffering has a cause. Suffering can be suppressed. The way to suppression of suffering is the noble eight fold path, which consists of right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration, (CH EN 33). The teachings of the Buddha held a person to high morals and conduct. If a person went against these values, it would be considered the ultimate sin and would, therefore, be trapped in the vicious cycle of rebirth. Theravada also known as The Doctrine of the Elders, (CH EN 30) was for a long time the only teachings and means to obtain nirvana. Nevertheless, Mahayana came along and the appeal of less restrictive acceptance made it popular. One of the major schools within Mahayana is Pure Land Buddhism, which contradicted the teachings of Theravada by allowing anyone to achieve nirvana by devotion to the Buddha, Amitabha. In Theravada, a person s karma is the distinguishing factor of if and how long a person may be in heaven. Nirvana is not a permanent place in Theravada, but in Pure Land Buddhism it is and that devotion undermines the concept of karma. The main philosophy of Pure Land is that a person is not restricted or held to a high moral code. if a person, chants praises to Amitabha, they are relinquished from transmigration. Theravada teaches its members that the Buddha is a human but not a single person, while Pure Land teaches its followers that Amitabha is the
  • 3. Summary Of The Popular Science Video Last Week Tonight Here is my answer. In these two popular science videos, Last Week Tonight (2014), we can see that many issues and problems of science communication are pointed out by John Oliver. For the first issue, Oliver stats that the constant debates on some problems and the one versus one debating model are misleading, these will make people think the issues are still open to debate and also can make them to have different arguments on certain problems. The second issue is the P hacking. According to John Oliver, P hacking is a scandalous and a fictitious method that used by scientists. It means collecting many variables and playing with data until scientists can get something that seem to be statistically significant but perhaps meaningless. Take website 538 as an example. Firstly, according to Bucchi, M (2008), in the continuity model of science communication, the science is slowly and continually moving from expert areas to the public scientific communities and the popular level in the end. However, in the science information movement process, information can be transformed as it moves from levels to levels. Take the study about the effects of level of flappin on chocolate during pregnancy as an example. This example was mentioned by Oliver in the video. For this study, the results showed that there was no difference founded, however, when it came to television, the study results has totally changed. Based on this example, we can see that after scientists publishing their studies, the information or study results can be largely changed when they are transmitting from stage to stage. Secondly, the researchers and TV producers will choose and manipulate particular kinds of science study to broadcast according to the feedback from audiences, and the problem is they oversimplified the science. This could also mislead the

All the clients work together as a swarm to share the file. The file sharing process doesn t happen in the systematic, sequential way we show here (purely for simplicity): clients upload and download simultaneously and the file actually builds up in a more random way. There are often hundreds of clients involved in each swarm. 3.Eventually, every client receives a complete copy of the file. However, in this example, as in real life, one client (lower left) finishes downloading before the others. If the owner of that machine switches off as soon as they re done, the other clients will never receive complete copies of the
  • 5. Similarities Between Witterick And David Stocker Kathy Witterick (38) and David Stocker (39) are the parents of Jazz (5), Kio (2), and Storm; who is being raised genderless. Storm s gender has not been disclosed to anyone other than their family. The family receives a lot of questions about the child s gender but they just brush it off. This all started when Jazz, born a boy, decided he liked girlish items. Many have said they are leading their children s lives to a life full of bullying and ridicule. Witterick and Stocker believe they are giving their children the freedom of being who they want to be. Stocker noticed that all parents make decisions for their children, he has let their children pick out their clothes since 18 months. The parents only want to help their children make decisions for themselves. The most similar developmental theory to compare to this scenario would be Talcott Parsons, creator of structural functionalism. He believed that society will create structures within itself that will assist with its fundamental functioning requirements. In this case, as Storm grows and decides what (s)he wants to become, the environment will help to make that decision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The family does not believe in enrolling in public schools, instead they are doing unschooling, which consists of only a day of children growing making their own

I will investigate the pertinent questions that will help evaluate the course objectives. Furthermore, the paper will evaluate the lessons learned. In the end, an inferred decision will be made based on my evaluation of the course. I will infer from the analysis whether the course will be worth the stakeholders investment. A few months ago I had the opportunity to enroll and complete an online financial management course at the Benedictine University. The course was taught by one of the proficient professors in the department of finance. Even though I have taken other online courses prior to this class, this particular course is worth analyzing because it was taught by a professor that loves teaching and his love for teaching was apparent in the way he interacted with students. In my opinion, he is a wonderful, knowledgeable and well experienced professor. He kept the students (team) updated by posting pertinent announcement. Considering my training as a scientist financial management was not one of my strong subjects, however, the professor made sure that all students had an opportunity to learn the fundamental concepts of managing the finance of firms. To this end, he was prompt to answer the questions and gave excellent and detailed answers to all questions asked by the students. In terms of the class discussions his feedbacks were added

There is no doubt that they are all crucial risks, however, they are generic risks, and I believe there are other certain risks faced by each division. Competition was one major risk for Coles group. Although, the competition was getting more aggressive against Woolworths and Aldi, Coles was disciplined to its growth strategies to continue improving its fresh offer, liquor business, and Coles express, and that strategy gave Coles the competitive advantage over Woolworths to record an increase of market share over its major rival Woolworths. There are those fighting against racism, those fighting for it, some that believe it doesn t even exist yet practice it daily, and everyone in between. Why does the color of a person s skin, however, cause so much conflict amongst citizens? To understand racism, it is imperative to understand race. Race, defined by Tanya Maria Golash Boza, is ultimately a social construction, or an idea humans endow with meaning through daily interactions. She states, It has no biological basis. This might seem odd to read, as the physical differences between a Kenyan, a Swede, and a Han Chinese, for example, are obvious. The Americas were home to over 100 million indigenous people, and during the first two centuries of colonization, 95 percent of the population was destroyed. The Spaniards used weaponry to enslave the indigenous people and forced the natives to look for gold. The results were devastating for the atives. The Arawaks of Santo Domingo were reduced from over 3 million pople in 1496 to a mere 125 in 1570 (Golash Boza, p8). 95 percent of the native populations were destroyed in less than 200

Emerson express the soul plays a very significant role in trying to define the basis under which one should avoid from being dependent on other parties for both intellectual and spiritual needs to coming up with a line of thinking that makes them less reliant on external bodies and hence self reliant. According to Emerson, the sentiments that the soul provides are of more value compared to the mere thoughts that it may contain. As Emerson said Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore if it be goodness. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Emerson considers it genius for a man to believe truly in his heart that whatever he or she believes to be the truth or fact is the same opinion that is held by another humanbeing of group of individuals whose thinking spaces are not interrelated in any way. The same spontaneous impression that drives our intuition while driving art work should be the same that would drive us to examine the matter at hand in all the day to day dealings of our lives. However, Emerson insists that it is difficult for most people to be self reliant in their day today operation.

The book mainly focuses on the Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat, with a crew of 6 men, who disappeared without a trace deep into the northern atlantic sea. In the year 2000, almost 10 years after the tragic event took place, a motion picture, perfectly titled, The Perfect Storm which was based on the novel was released. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie didn`t portray an important aspect, when the Andrea Gail was replacing and upgrading its gears in the beginning, but the book did. That played a key role in why the Andrea Gail was caught in the storm in the first place. The ice machine had broken down leaving the crew with no choice but to return home, which meant heading into the storm, otherwise the fish they had worked so hard to catch would spoil, making a whole waste of the trip. There were also details within the book that offered much enlightment about the sea, the life of a fisherman, how a person dies, and storms, yet the movie failed to offer that. That`s just one more argument for the debate of whether its better to read the book or watch the movie. There were certain plots that took place in the movie, but wasn`t mentioned in the book, if not then it was only briefly brought about. When the 6 men were out in the bar drinking and partying the night before they were off to sea once again, the book mentioned only briefly about Murph, one of the crewmen, ?he has an ex wife Debra, and a three year old baby, also named Dale, whom he openly adores?. In the movie, it showed Murph and his son, who wasn`t three years old, but older, in the movie, bonding that last night. However, the book never mentioned this event taking place. The movie creator

Researchers say that the gravity of a black hole is so strong because matter is pressed into a tiny space. Black holes are sometimes called dying stars or they result in dying stars. There are many different sizes of black holes, but the three most common are primordial black holes, stellar, and supermassive. This list goes from smallest to largest. These size differences makes them so they can form in different ways. Primordial black holes are said to be formed right after the big bang. Stellar black holes form when a very massive star collapses on itself. These are also called exploding stars or a supernova. Supermassive black holes are formed at the same time in the same galaxy . One of these major, and possibly most important, differences is an amphibian s ability to regenerate its limb from the amputated area. The process is largely dependent on the cells ability to commit once it has specified. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the boundary model the anterior, posterior, dorsal, and ventral regions set up a concentration gradient using the morphogen like epidermis that formed into a soluble substance as it moves along the distal axis. It sets up the different structures once amputation has taken place. The sonic hedgehog sets up a gradient along the anterior posterior axis while stimulating the production of the new limb along the distal axis. According to Mariana Martin, this model only works if the salamander retains its axis such that the posterior region is thinner than that of the anterior (Martin, 2008). This model of morphogen behavior follows temporal order such that sonic hedgehog gradients set up the posterior distal axis through compiling the blastemal cells, which acts to trigger BMP signaling. This in turn activates the FGF signaling pathway. This pathway shows similarities to that of the homeotic genes of the drosophila, which have segmentation due to the homeotic genes. When one of these genes are not expressed, or in other words knocked off this results in a defect that can lead to a missing region on the drosophila (Gilbert, 2014). This yields similar results in the salamander but instead uses genes such as band2, which results in lack of posterior characteristics on the salamander. With these similarities, it makes tracking gene expressions in regeneration comparable to that in the development of other organisms

It became obvious that the universe is much larger than astronomers previously thought. The most remote objects that prior telescopes could register were only 109 light years away from the Earth. The mother and two children that were still alive had only one dish of barley for the last four days. Even though his descriptions of what he witnessed may have been the truth and he was relaying this to the reader, he was known as a ruthless land agent who broke leases, leveled people s homes and banished the poor. Trench looked upon such schemes as a cheap and efficient way to improve the estate.... the population decreased by 40.3% during the Trench years, suggesting that in an attempt to clear the estate to make way for improvements, many people were forced to leave, receiving little or no money from him (Offalyhistoryarchives.com). • 32. Analysis Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer Buffy the Vampire Slayer directed by Joss Whedon was an American television series which came to air on March the 10th, 1997 until the last season in May, 2003. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was based on a young woman named Buffy Summers, who battled against vampires and demons in her hometown Sunnydale. Buffy was depicted as a strong female role model who was extremely loyal to her sister Dawn and her best friend Willow. She also gained a lot of power through fighting the vampires and demons, again showing her strong female role modelling in the series. Buffy was also a good listener to Giles her watcher/mentor and surrogate father figure, many of the techniques he taught her helped with her strength when fighting against the demons. Some of the features and filmdevices used to describe Buffy as a characterincluded the camera angles and shots as well as the lighting techniques. These film devices and techniques were used throughout the series to help present Buffy as a strong female character. Buffy can also be compared to other strong fictional female role models such as, Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games (22ndMarch 2012), and a slightly weaker character, Elle Woods from Legally Blonde (11thOctober 2001). Consequently, Katniss was presented as a great role model because her qualities were admired and she was hard to like by other characters in the story, she also comes across as tough and hostile, whereas Elle was able to face challenges of being labelled as the dumb

In the short story, The Waters of Babylon by Stephen Vincent Benet, Benet displays his story to be in a futuristic post apocalyptic world that was destroyed due to the fact that the people who lived in it failed to record their history. The main character, John, has to go on a quest to learn more about his ancestors and get more information about the worldthey lived in. When he finishes the quest, he and his father go to the city of his ancestors and try to rebuild the world from square one. Some people believe that history is not important, others strongly disagree, their point is not going to go unnoticed though. Some people want to live life one day at a time and not have to worry about how their actions could affect themselves or their future. Living life one day at a time sounds refreshing but it is unrealistic. We would still be cavemen if we didn t use our knowledge to help us advance. Ignorance is not the answer especially if we hope to continue our advancement s in the world. Not having history can also affect how you see people from the past. We know that the people here before us were ordinary people not gods but John does not know that, John thinks that his ancestors are godly and mysteriously hidden behind their ambiguity. John realizes that his ancestors are ordinary people but this is not because of the knowledge he was taught in a history book, this is because he had to take a strenuous journey to find his own answers. That is all of my story, for then I knew he was a man I knew then that they had been men, neither gods nor demons. It is a great knowledge, hard to tell and believe. They were men they went a dark road, but they were men. I had no fear after that I had no fear going home... • 34. infertility Essay Infertility is the inability or failure to conceive after a year of regular intercourse without contraception. There are two categories to classify infertility, primary and secondary. Primary infertility occurs in women who have never conceived while secondary infertility occurs in women who had a previous conception. Affecting about one in six couples, there are many causes of infertility. A little more than half of cases of infertility are attributed to female conditions. Female conditions include ovulatory dysfunction, tubal or pelvic factors, cervical problems and uterine factors. However, that does not rule out other conditions as well. These include the male factors and unexplained infertility. Male factors are pretesticular causes,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any changes in the function of the glands would affect ovulation and therefore, many causes of the dysfunction affect the glands in some way. Premature ovarian failure, a cause of ovulatory dysfunction, is a disorder believed to be due to genetic abnormalies which leads to the faster depletion of eggs in an ovary. Women who have this disorder lose more eggs during menstruation than normal women, eventually leading to early menopause. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism are diseases of the thyroid gland, also are causes of ovulatory dysfunction though it is not very clear how. Hypothyroidism is when the woman does not produce enough thyroid hormone while hyperthyroidism is where too much thyroid hormone is produced. These abnormalies lead to higher amounts of estrogen in a woman, and therefore interfere with the growth of the follicle and affect the amount of FSH and LH that is required for the release of the egg. Polycystic ovary syndrome is a disease which follicles don t mature, causing them to sometimes become ovarian cysts. Women with this disease don t ovulate for periods of time. A suggested theory is that high levels of LH found in these women cause ovulatory dysfunction. Hyperprolactinema is the too much prolactin in a woman s body. Prolactin is a hormone that is needed to produce breast milk and too much of it would cause a decrease in FSH and LH, affecting the maturing of a follicle. It would also disrupt the amount of other hormones needed

Master Harold and the Boys Critical Analysis Master Harold... and the Boys Athol Fugard s Master Harold... and the Boys is an instant classic that does a superior job at encompassing the complex of racial hierarchies and interracial friendships that existed in South Africa in the mid 20th century. Set in 1950 the play follows the everyday lives of its two main protagonists: Hally, a white, seventeen year old male discontented with his schooling, and Sam, a middle aged, black servant of Hally s family. During this period the rigid racial structure of Apartheid remained dominant in the nation, institutionalizing the already understood separation of disenfranchised blacks and privileged whites. Eventually convinced of the impossibility and distracted by his school work, the thought nevertheless preoccupies our young protagonist s mind, coloring each action and reaction throughout the rest of the play. The moment of engagement is closely married to the introductory incident in this work as the audience s intriguing moment is parallel to Hally s emotional commitment to the idea of his father s return. Unable to divorce his mind from this subtle inkling of helplessness, Hally s tone sharpens considerably as he attempts to solidify his own authority through discourse with Sam coupled with sharp remarks. Don t try to be clever, Sam. It doesn t suit you. Anybody who thinks there s nothing wrong with this world needs to have his head examined. (Jacobus, 1403). The major peripetie of the work occurs when Hally s mother phones again to confirm his worse fear: his father is adamant about his return home. At this point all civil facades are dashed by Hally in a vain attempt to solidify his own importance though coupled with the genuine emotional struggle of a young boy at odds with his father. Searching for an outlet the rising action of the play takes a dramatic turn from a slight incline to a steep hill as Hally visibly changes gears from distraught and confused to violently offensive. And I m telling you you don t! Nobody does. (Speaking carefully as his shame turns to rage at Sam.) It s your turn to be careful, Sam. Very careful! You re trading on

Circadian Or Diurnal Rhythms Are Metabolic Introduction Circadian or diurnal rhythms are metabolic or behavioural rhythms, in animals and plants, that occur usually within a 24 hour cycle (Abercrombie et al. 1990). The changes in body temperature over the course of a day (24 hours), or in the case of females, over a month, is one of the most documented human circadian rhythms. Body temperature as well as circadian rhythms in humans is controlled by the hypothalamus, a small region of the brain that forms part of the autonomic nervous system. The hypothalamus synthesizes neurohormones, which are used to control the secretions of other hormones by the pituitary gland, which is linked to the hypothalamus. It is well known that long distance flights have many effects on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact it is the hormone, melatonin which is released by the pineal gland that is responsible for controlling the sleep cycle (Society for Endocrinology, 2015). Melatonin production increases as it becomes dark and is supressed to a degree by light. Melatonin causes drowsiness by lowering the core body temperature. It has been found that the hormone is also released when one is stressed which can occur while in flight. The body reacts to the untimely release of melatonin and disrupts the circadian rhythm, which raises the body temperature and lowers it at the wrong time of day. It naturally will take time for the bodies internal clock to readjust to a normal rhythm, and, if travelling to a different time zone, the body has to adjust to a different day night cycle. Aims The main aim of this study and experiment is to see if all long haul flights, irrespective of direction, result in a degree of jet lag as reflected by one of the affected circadian rhythms, namely body temperature. The study aims to determine whether the hypothesis is correct. An additional aim is to see if average body temperature is lowered during the flight and fluctuates less than in a normal 24 hour cycle. Should there be enough suitable participants, another aim is to see whether people over the age of 30 take longer to return to their normal body temperature circadian rhythm than those under the age of 30. Research Hypothesis It takes between 36 and 48 hours to return to a

With this data set in particular, it is important to note that in Portugal, the legal drinking age is sixteen years old and most of the participants in the data set are of legal drinking age. One hundred ninety five participants out of one thousand forty four total participants, or 18.68%, are underage. The data set was extremely clean, as there were no missing values in the data set. Examples of the variables provided were: sex, age, address (urban v. rural), parental status (together v. apart), mother s education, father s education, guardianship, travel time to school, study time, number of classes failed, school support, extracurricular support, etc. Of all the provided variables, the three variables that our group chose to remove from our data set were school, reason and weekend alcohol consumption. Euthanasi A Moral Dilemma Shubhpreet Janda Prof. Anthony Fraser English Comp 1 May 5, 2015 Euthanasia: A Moral Dilemma In a brightly lit, cold white room, Dr. Jesse is discussing the extent of the life threatening disease that a patient, Mark, has. Mark has a chance of survival, but only for about two torturous months where he will have to separate himself from his normal life and engage in chemotherapy every day. When first hearing about his situation, Mark immediately decides that plowing through two painful months is not worth his time or effort, and he wishes to end his life on a positive note without wearing down his body since he will have to depart sooner or later anyways. Now when confronted with Mark s decision, Dr. Jesse freezes and rationalizes with his beliefs to try and figure out the morally correct resolution to this problem. Like Mark, many other ill patients ask for life termination to relieve themselves from suffering and many other doctors, like Dr. Jesse, are also placed in this position where they must choose to either follow the patients requests, or to try and keep the patient living despite their wishes. Who has the power to make this decision about ending a patient s life, and to what extent? A terminally ill patient has the right to request the act of euthanasia as long as he or she is deemed as consciously aware. According to the online Princeton Wordnetweb dictionary, consciousnessis an alert cognitive state in which you are aware of yourself and your situation
