Speech On Procrastination
Procrastination, a college student s worst enemy, but closest friend. I ve developed this habit where I
wait until the very last minute doing an assignment. It has gotten to the point where the clock is
ticking down to the last few minutes and I am sitting at my desk just now starting the assignment.
What do I do to get in this sticky situation you ask? I do everything but the thing I m supposed to do.
Although I would have earned better grades from doing things days before it s due, I ve mastered the
technique of putting it off till the last minute. It s a bad habit I picked up, but not one that i ve tried to
quit.
RECEIVING THE ASSIGNMENT
Procrastinating comes in a few stages, the first is receiving the assignment. Receiving the assignment
and due date sparked the lies of oh I ll start this as soon as I get home, or I m actually going to get this
done early so I don t have to worry about it. So i psych myself up to be motivated to finish it early
although it never works out that way.
The Professor of the class usually makes a comment of This isn t something you can do the night
before it s due. Well obviously in college anything is possible, and they know that at least half of the
class is going to do it the night before its due anyways. As soon as the class gets over the paper gets
stuffed in my backpack and remains forgotten until I stumble upon it crumpled in the bottom of the
bag. Realistically, i do know about the assignment it s just filed in the part of

Essay On Jim Crow
The negative stance of separated but equal laws in the South kept blacks bound to oppression and
despair. In addition, for black communities, separated but equal doctrine, represents bias, racism, and
inequality. Meanwhile, In the eyes of whites, it was considered a crime for blacks to fight for equality
against their former slave owners. Blacks were forced to protest through civil right movements,
demanding equality and justice. The treatment from white southern were so horrific, the struggle for
freedom, claimed many black s lives. But, Supreme Court answered to abolish this unconstitutional
separate but equal doctrine. However, according to the ACLU, this Jim Crow concept is used among
inmates incarcerated in the Los Angeles county jail facilities. The notion that, these inmates are not
willing to integrate among each other is an empirical flawed argument. In the meantime, a temporal
system called TRESS illustrates, the separate but equal, expected to deterrent violence inmates from
destructive behaviors. But in reality, it only recreated a society of racism within the jail system. These
rules are Jim Crow old black codes law from the south. Laws restricted blacks in numerous ways, to
ensure that freed blacks would retain the servitude they experienced under slavery. These legal
provisions likewise ensured that blacks would continue to supply cheap labor and perpetuate white
economic domination. Therefore, TRESS is one of the most modern

The Implementation Of Salad Bars
The Implementation of Salad Bars in Schools In recent years, the issue of childhood obesity has
gained major attention in the United States. The percentage of obesity has risen tremendously within
the last decade. In a recent news article, American Obesity Rates Are on the Rise, Maggie Fox states
about 28 percent of the people in America admits that they are obese (Fox). The United States has
become the country with the highest rate of obesity in the world. Besides adults who are obese,
obesity is also a common issue to children and teenagers. Childhood is an important period when
parents help their child avoid being obese. Eating habits during childhood can have an impact on a
person as they age. Children in the U.S who are obese will most likely develop a higher risk of having
medical issues. According to the website, letsmove.gov, obesity in children could cause a wide range
of health issues such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, high
glucose levels, and more ( Health Problems and Childhood Obesity ). Also, children who are obese at
a young age, are likely to remain obese in adulthood. The establishment of the bill, H.R. 2627 Salad
Bars in Schools Expansion Act could reduce the percentage of obese children by providing salad bars
during lunch times. This exposure to healthy eating habits can help children to maintain a healthy
lifestyle and to avoid future health issues. In the bill H.R. 2627 Salad Bars in Schools Expansion Act,

Not True Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Essay
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet popularly considered by many to be the quintessential love story of
all time is a play that we are all familiar with in one way or another. Whether it be through the plethora
of portrayals, adaptations and performances that exist or through your own reading of the play,
chances are you have been acquainted with this tale of tragic love at some point in your life. Through
this universal familiarity an odd occurrence can be noted, one of almost canonical reverence for the
themes commonly believed to be central to the plot. The most widely believed theme of Romeo and
Juliet is that of the ideal love unable to exist under the harsh social and political strains of this world.
Out of this idea emerge two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he is the one who seems to have the faulty reasoning and who relies on fancy words to
convey his otherwise weak emotions. It is the attention he receives that causes me to scrutinize him
with a keener eye; after all, we must hold those we revere most highly accountable for their actions . .
.
From the moment we first hear about Romeo, it is in the context of his suffering at the hands of love.
Romeo s father, Montague, perplexed by his son s behavior states that, Many a morning hath he there
been seen, / With tears augmenting the fresh morning s dew, / Adding to clouds more clouds with his
deep sighs (1.1.124 26). While this may be the first time we encounter Romeo s melancholy humour,
it certainly isn t the last. In fact, one of the primary sources of our infatuation with Romeo rests in our
sympathy for him. From the very start this poor boy is plagued by affections for girls that fate, it
seems, will not let him be with. At first, it s Rosaline, a girl who has sworn that she will still live
chaste (1.1.210), a vow that sets Romeo reeling and complaining because from love s weak childish
bow she lives unharmed (1.1.204). His depression over Rosaline is enough to draw the attention of his
father, Montague, who has observed that Romeo shuts himself up in his room all day in order to
wallow in the darkness. These are the actions of someone who is undeniably quite

Emily Grierson Traits
In William Faulkner s A Rose of Emily, Miss Emily Grierson says very little because she has no desire
to speak to anyone. Remove all of Miss Emily s utterances from the context of the story. Write them
down as you would a list. What three character traits can be inferred from her speeches? In three well
developed paragraphs, discuss three character traits revealed by Miss Emily s dialogue alone. Length:
350 500 words. Miss Emily is an old style southern belle ensnared in a culture bent on forcing her to
stay in her task. She adheres to the old ways even as she struggles to break free. When she is not even
40, she is on a way that entails dying alone in an apparently ghostly house. The story, A Rose for
Emily, opens to the viewing of Miss Emily s death. The tale summons up the Emily s through
flashbacks of several points, much like every persons mind in life when recalling (Faulkner, pg 56).
The speaker talks about how much of a trouble Miss Emily was to the township as a result of her old
fashion ways. All through the story, we learn about Miss Emily s partner standings and isolation. Her
character is a very old fashion woman who still believed in the confederate period and was follower to
those policies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approved, the townspeople who narrate her tale understand her more than any other person, but not
actually to a great extent. This is why Emily is called resistant. It is not possible to reasonably
penetrate her or totally know her. But, maybe there is a little Emily in every person. Helen might be
considered as weak, or as reluctant to take a stand in opposition to her father in life. This opinion is
kind of like blaming the victim however. The bare sketch presented about her father portrays a man
who was strangely controlling, dictatorial, and maybe capable of deep brutality, even to his only

Global Health Issues
First, we will introduce you to the world situation with regard to health care. Then, we will explain the
link between health issue, poverty and economic factors. Eventually, we will talk about the actions
taken against these issues.
Despite incredible improvements in health since 1950, there are still a big number of challenges as
regards global health.
One billion people lack access to health care systems.
36 million deaths each year are caused by noncommunicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease,
cancer or diabetes .This is almost two thirds of the estimated 56 million deaths each year worldwide.
Over 7.5 million children under the age of 5 die from malnutrition and mostly preventable diseases,
each year.

Even within a country such as the UK, then, the report finds that the average life span can differ by
some 28 years, depending on whether you are in the poorer or wealthier strata of society.
In rich countries, low socioeconomic position means poor education, unemployment and job
insecurity, poor working conditions, and unsafe neighbourhoods, with their consequent impact on
family life.
Most health problems are due to social, political and economic factors. The key determinants of health
of populations are the circumstances in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. And those
circumstances are affected by the social and economic environment.
Health is inextricably linked to economic issues. Without work, health cannot be afforded. Without
good health, work cannot be done.
Furthermore, some diseases are now not only the result of poverty, but have been contributing to
poverty.
Malaria has significant direct and indirect costs, and has recently been shown to be a major constraint
to economic development. Annual economic growth in countries with high malaria transmission has
historically been lower than in countries without malaria.
The risk of contracting malaria in endemic areas can deter investment, both internal and external and
affect individual and household decision making in many ways that have a negative impact on
economic productivity and growth.

The most obvious advantage of video marketing is that it s so highly engaging. The human brain has
evolved in order to pay attention to moving images and sounds and this is why we are naturally
inclined to stop and watch the television when it s on in the background. Have you ever been talking
to someone when there s a television in the room only to notice that they re actually looking straight
past you and at the screen? The sound could be off and it could even be playing adverts but still some
people will be almost unable to turn away. This isn t anything personal (usually), it s just a perfect
example of how moving images hold our attention.
Another great example is a classroom. Do you remember when the teacher would say they were going
to put on a video for a particular lesson? Even the noisiest of classes would fall silent and become very
well behaved at this point even when the topic of the video wasn t anything particularly interesting.
Video has an almost hypnotic quality and this is an excellent trait for any internet

`` Blown Away `` By Josh Kear And Chris Tompkins Use...
Fathers are viewed as the head of the household and the glue that holds the family together. For this
reason, as young girls grow up, they look to their fathers for stability and comfort. In the song, the
father was the complete opposite of everything good. He failed the young girl by tearing her down and
making her life miserable. In Blown Away , the authors Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins use symbolism
and imagery to show the difficulties the girl face as a child and how she finds hope for a better future.
One device the authors use to portray hope is symbolism. The first way the song exhibits symbolism is
through the tornado and the destruction is causes. Carrie Underwood sings, The weather man called
for a twister / she pray it blow down (lines 5 6). These lines show that she wants the tornado to come
down towards her. It represents the destruction her father has brought her life, but also the hope she
has that it will be good for her future. She realizes that while the tornado might destroy everything she
owns and knows about her childhood, it will also set her free from her father and the darkness that is
bringing her down. Her life is like the storm. Before a storm comes it is dark and dreary outside, much
like her life now. After a storm passes the skies clear and a rainbow appears, this is what her life will
be like after the tornado passes. The storm takes away all the bad in her life and leaves her with an
open path to a brighter future. The second way the authors

Pergamon Altar To Zeus Analysis
The Pergamon altar to Zeus, was once was apart of the great Pergamon Palace that was a library to
200,000 scrolls and garrison of soldiers that use to reside in Pergamon city in the 2nd century B.C. I
will be performing a visual analysis on one of the friezes depicted in the Pergamon altar of Zeus
showing the Goddess Athena, who helped Olympus fight against the titans. In this essay I will explore
how the Pergamon frieze is a metaphor for the victory of greek culture over the unknown, the
unspoken fear of the greeks against the chaotic forces of nature by looking at the movement of lines,
illusionistic space and virtuoso sculpting here of the human body.
Athena greek goddess of war and wisdom was one of the most powerful goddesses in the greek
pantheon, and as said, by her birth, came fully armed from the head of zeus, which had inspired the
common representation of her shown in armour, helmet, spear, and with a shield. She also held the
head of Gorgon Medusa over her aegis. She was an embodiment of wisdom, reason, and purity. And
by being her father s favorite, she was allowed to use his weapons and thunderbolt. ... Show more

In this Hellenistic frieze Athena is depicted as being graceful and beautiful as she battles this giant,
Alcyoneus, son of Gaia, a goddess of Earth. Even without a face we can tell that she is in total control
as she has grabbed Alcyoneus by the hair, having pulled him from the earth while his mother Gaia on
the other side watches in fear for her son as she s completely at Athena s mercy. Athena s collected
grace strengthens this marble piece, as even in a time of chaos these gods and goddesses were
completely in control and empowered, as there was an oracle known that they d not be able to defeat
these titans without the help of a

The Importance Of The Land Of Opportunity In America
Land of Opportunity for Everyone. The United States is a very diverse country, which makes it the
most unique out of every other place in the world. What helps this wonderful country of opportunity
become what it is to this day is because of the immigrants who traveled here. Coming from a family of
immigrants I know first hand what my grandparents and parents had to go through to earn the life they
gave me today. Immigrants are an important part in our society. They do the work that most people
don t want to do. As in, work in factories, construction sites, and on farms. Immigrants help run a high
demand country, so why get rid of them? They have a purpose here. Everyone around the world
knows that America is the Land of Opportunity . People work so hard just to come here and start a
new life. They all want to experience the American Dream . To us, this is a normal lifestyle. If you
look at immigrants situations closely, you see their country s trouble and how over there they have it
much worse. Wouldn t you want to give them an opportunity where you and they know is better? So
many countries in Europe are having a hard time and people want to escape that and move to the
States to start fresh. My grandparents moved to Chicago from Poland when my mom was 19. They
worked tremendously hard to make enough money to make sure they were set for the future. They are
lucky that they got to come here and turn their life around and make sure that my brother and I didn t

Implications Of The Involement Of Neighboring Countries
Q2. IMPLICATIONS OF THE INVOLEMENT OF NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES
1. Regional Implications
The continuous conflict and seemingly unending civil war in Syria has made the refugee settlement
mission a difficult task. The persistent state of fear has given rise to security controls across the
border, and the incessant displacement of people from Syria has increased vulnerability amongst
refugees seeking asylum. The number of refugees has grown steadily and has reached a disturbing
number of 235,000 according to UNHCR. In addition, many immigrants remain unregistered and
vulnerable in the neighbouring regions simply because the countries hosting them are also incapable
to make available adequate resources due to economic constraints. Turkey, due to its financial status,
has been able to cope positively with the 80,000 refugees in the country. Iraq is trying to cope with the
incursion of immigrants into the country, fearing a reaction from al Qaeda who might use the refugee
issue to settle in Iraq. Iraq has taken in only about 16,000 refugees so far, according to the United
Nations. On the other hand, Lebanon is hosting about 100,000 refugees and in spite of the latest
conflict in the country; the number of immigrants crossing over has not decreased. In fact, it has
steadily increased.
Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq are struggling to hurriedly put together camps and settlements to
accommodate the influx of immigrants. The immigrants are in a continuous state of tension and basic

Learning From A Foreign Language
Learning to write in a foreign language Life is weird and unexpected. You don t know what is coming
up or what is going through. You don t know what s next, but you do have choices, plans and Images
of your future. I started reading and writing when I was 4, it was in Arabic and writing in Arabic doesn
t have many rules. So by the age of eight, I was done with learning how to read and write, and started
my science studies. I gained some of my skills through writing in Arabic like meditation and the way
of thinking, but this part of life is barely related to the kind of writer I am now, because writing in
English is completely different. My first experience with reading and writing in English started when I
chose to attend an out siding high school in another city. It was a school for top students. Joining this
school was my start point with the English and academic writing. It was also my start point to be here
in the US, more than 7,000 miles away from home. Looking back, if I didn t join this school, I wouldn
t be able to write and read in English and I wouldn t be able to come here. So life is pretty cool about
that, it s just one choice led to a very long series of events that shaped my writing skills and attitudes.
Starting the high school, one the most significant series of events that shaped my writing skills, was
my academic studies. When I joined the school, I was very weak in English and most of my

Folic Acid Biology Internal And Acid
Folic Acid Biology Internal
Folate acid is a B vitamin that is essential to humans and can be found in a large variety of foods
including leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, wholemeal bread, yeast, and liver. Pteroylmonoglutamic acid
or commonly known as folic acid is the man made version of folate. Folic acid is used in dietary
supplements as it is easier to absorb into the body and is stable, compared to the naturally produced
folate. Unlike natural folate, which is instantly absorbed by the mucosa of the small intestine, folic
acid requires an initial reduction and methylation in the liver before it can be absorbed by the small
intestines to be used in our body. This is where the problems lies. As folic acid is quick to absorb but
slow to be metabolised, there will be a build up of both of them in our bodies. There is speculation
going around that this extra build up of folate and folic in our body puts the New Zealand population
at risk for death and disability from other diseases and nutritional deficiencies.
Folate is vital in the growth and reproduction of our cells. An anaemia called megaloblastic anaemia
can occur if there is a deficiency of folate in our blood. Megaloblastic anaemia causes immature
enlarged and dysfunctional red blood cells which means a decrease in oxygen transport around the
body.
Folic acid also can help the development of healthy babies in early pregnancy as it reduces the risk of
neural tube defect. NTDs are a number of different birth

3. Vygotsky s main Theory is the Social Development Theory. He was known for his Sociocultural

With this theory, he talks about how children s behaviors, as well as their thoughts, can differ because
of cultures and how they are raised. The children s interactions change according to their cultures and
teachings.
His theory suggests that the children s development is according to their cultures and how they are
raised, the children have their own view of their world depending on their way they are taught and the
tools that they are given as they grow up. Vygotsky talks about imitative learning, instructed learning,
and collaborative learning. Imitative learning is where the child learns from watching and imitating a
person. Instructed learning where the student learns to remember the teacher s instructions then they
are to do the work, and then there is Collaborative, this involves students that work together and try to

since the salt content of the water causes the body to retain more salt, and lose more water, which is
why seawater is undrinkable, these experiments caused serious bodily injury, major dehydration, and
an enormous amounts of pain and suffering. The Gypsies were so dehydrated and so desperate for
water, they reportedly licked the floored after they had been mopped just to get a drop of fresh water.
(The Experiments, Remember.org) Experiments were conducted to find an antidote to phosgene, a

The Use Of Religious Symbols In Public Schools
The art teacher would be fine, as long as he or she is using the Last Supper for instructional purposes
and not to promote religion. Most teachers struggle, and have a hard time dealing with religious
symbols in public schools. In order to understand it better, one must look closely at the first
amendment and how it relates to public schools. From my understanding, and through various court
rulings, the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment states that public schools are not allowed to
promote religion or antireligious beliefs, but teachers can use religious symbols to teach their content,
as long as it is tied to their academic objectives and are not purposely trying to influence students to
believe in certain religion.

influencing them in any way? In the case of the art teacher and using the Last Supper, I would suggest
doing the Lemon test. First, I would ask the teacher what is the purpose of using the Last Supper. If
the purpose is to study historical art and maybe they are looking at Da Vinci s work, I would suggest
the teacher is in the right place. It is the teacher s responsibility to set this clear with the students. The

through another substance in another state of matter (Woodford, 2016). Chromatography consists of a
compound that does not move in the entire experiment (stationary phase) and another compound that
runs through the stationary phase (mobile phase).
Thin layer chromatography uses a thin sheet of silica gel as the stationary phase. The chromatography
plate is then to be placed vertically inside a chromatography chamber (Thin layer chromatography,
NA). Column chromatography works very similar to TLC, but instead of using a thin layer of silica
gel, in this case we fill a column with this gel (University of Toronto, NA). Finally, we are looking to
calculate the value of Rf for every substance. Rf is defined as the distance travelled by the compound
divided by the distance travelled by the solvent in the TLC experiment (Weldegirma, 2016). ... Show

The Nurse Provider s Role As A Nurse Assistant
As healthcare providers, our role is to ensure the safety well being of our patients and advocate
appropriately with their best interest in mind. While it is important to be our patient s advocate, we
must also stay within the parameters that are set by our state governing boards. Although the 15 y/o is
a runaway, it is more important that we assess the well being of the teen mom, her infant, and maintain
a trusting patient provider relationship. I would ask the Nurse Manager to room the patient and baby,
and keep others out of the room until after I perform a full physical on both of them. The time in the
exam room will allow for further investigation of the current situation.

Effects Of Voter Apathy
Voter apathy is a large and serious problem that is affecting the U.S. right now. If the number of
people that continuously ignore the ability to vote increases only a small portion of the country will be
deciding who leads us and makes the decisions that will either protect us or endanger us. The effects
of these decisions can be in economics and war. Also, if only a fraction of the population votes there is
a much a greater chance of imbalance in politics. For example, this could cause more Democrats or
Republicans to vote and make it too easy for one party to be in office. Every vote counts and one by
one voter apathy can be reduced to an uncommon term. I think it comes down to maturity, or lack of it
at a young age. I believe a major reason

A community credit union is a financial cooperative operating to lend money to its members. The
constituents of a mutual organization put money into a collective, where it may then be disbursed to
members in need of loans, at agreeable rates and with good terms. By eliminating the need to turn a
profit, mutual organizations are able to give lower rates on loans than traditional banking
organizations. The sub prime lenders are considered, in some instances, as a last resort since they tend
to give loans to people with a very low credit scores or an otherwise extremely high risk of default.
This type of lender offers loans at exorbitant interest rates as a way of covering losses from the high
default rate they experience with their borrowers. Fannie Mae does not hold onto all of the purchased
mortgages. It will take the individual loans and package them up with hundreds of others and market
them as mortgage backed securities (MBS) that it then sells to investors (for example, insurance
companies, pension funds). Fannie Mae provides a guarantee to these investors that they will receive
timely principal and interest payments, no matter what happens with the underlying mortgages. If
there are large numbers of defaults, Fannie Mae will have to make the investors whole, utilizing tax
dollars. Investors can also buy shares

Warhol And The Pop Art Movement
Andy Warhol being not simply a Pop artist, but an American artist who was known as the master of
Pop Art, and about two of Warhol s most famous paintings; Coca Cola and Campbell s Soup Cans.
Andy Warhol was an artist and filmmaker, an initiator for the Pop Art movement in the 1960s. Warhol
used mass production techniques to elevate art into the supposed unoriginality of the commercial
culture of the United States. Warhol s early drawings frequently recalls the Anglo Saxon tradition of
nonsense humor, a characteristically childlike exuberance, and the fact that Warhol was successfully
earning a living in the advertising industry at the time was sufficient for many to dismiss his entire
artistic output during this period as commercial art . Fifty years ago, Pop art captured the spirit of
Warhol s young art, but that basic structure has been (to most people) a revealing profitless movement
for years. Pop art was a 1960s movement that focused on everyday objects, comic books and mediated
images now seems quaint and playful, but not Warhol. In the first part of Andy Warhol s career he was
an iconoclast, in the second, the artist as businessman. In 1960 Warhol s graphic works underwent a
fundamental change in terms of subject matter, accompanied at about the same time by a change in
technique. Warhol s graphic work covers areas not normally associated with the art of the twentieth
century, and which might even be considered unique. In Andy Warhol s paintings and prints of

The War With The Persian
This essay will explore if Agesilaus was trying to create a buffer zone in Asia. However, first the story
of Agesilaus is Asia must be explored, as to his reasons for making war with the Persian and his
possible objective. Furthermore, by exploring these one may be able to establish why he was trying to
create a buffer zone or was he trying to accomplish something entirely different.
The invasion of the Persian territories in Asia, were brought on by King Agesilaus of the Sparta who
had not been in power long when he heard the news that the Persians were amassing an army against
the Greeks . With this news, Agesilaus asked that he be given thirty Spartans, two thousand newly

A Persian named Tissaphernes gave his word that he would help set the Greeks in Asia free. However,
Tissaphernes broke this agreement, and soon as he could gathered an army to fight . Upon Agesilaus
hearing this he continued to remain peacefully to show the people what Tissaphernes was not a man of
his word and that Agesilaus was more honourable.
Tissaphernes told Agesilaus to leave Asia or else there would be a war. With that Agesilaus prepared
his troops for battle he sent word to Caria to have their markets ready and stocked for their arrival .
Agesilaus also sent word to the Greeks of Ionia, the Aeolid and the Hellespont, to send their
contingents for the campaign to his headquarters at Ephesus and would seem to suggest that he was
well prepared for battle .
When Tissaphernes, heard of Agesilaus plans to attach Caria, they went to Caria to prepare for battle.
However, when he got there, there was no Greek army waiting. Agesilaus had decided to go to
Phrygia instead.
Once Agesilaus had captured Phrygia and taken large amount of booty. Instead of killing the prisoners,
he decided that it would be better to win them over with kindness. He ordered his men not to punish
their prisoners as criminals, but to guard them as human beings by doing this, he ensured the prisoner
s loyalty to Agesilaus .

Terrorism And Terrorism Attacks
Intro The United States has had its share of terror attacks, whether it was a major destruction, or
simpler destruction. On September 11th of 2001 (9/11), there was a major crisis after learning about
the terror attacks that happened on the World Trade Center in New York. That is one of the most
memorable terror attacks that took place in the Unites States. It was a series of terror attacks that took
place and the Pentagon was also targeted during this time. It was determined that Islamic nations were
targeting the United States to gain insight to their political views. The Islamic terrorist were so pressed
on getting their points across that they didn t care about the lives that stood in their way, including
their own. Thousands of people lost their lives in these two attacks alone and millions were affected.
Since then, terrorism has been a clear problem that has continued to show itself over time throughout
the United States. Terrorism is not limited to the United States, in fact, terrorism has been linked to
different areas of the world like Pakistan, Israel, Japan, and in the Philippines. Terrorism can be
anywhere from bombing, plane crashing, or just plain assassinating, as long as their means were to get
a message across. One example for an assassinating shooting is the Orlando shooting that took place
on June 12, 2016. The shooter was classified as just a gunman to some, but he was classified as a
terrorist to others because of the actions he chose to take. He

How Did Robert Peary Achieve His Goals
To move forward in life, our main focus should be conquering our fears and achieving our goals.
Robert Peary is a great example of this. On April 6, 1909, Peary conquered the world and achieved his
lifetime goal of reaching the top of the world, the North Pole. He prepared for this goal all of his life,
through school and work after college. He did much research and took many voyages to explore. He
did not reach the Pole on his first try, but he persevered. After many long journeys and great
challenges, he finally achieved his goal and made his mark on the world. We should work just as hard
as Robert Peary did to overcome challenges in life and achieve our goals. Robert Peary was born on

He had overcome many tremendous challenges to achieve his goal. Because of this, it was extremely
disheartening to come home to civilization. Upon his return, he discovered that Frederick Cook, a man
who had accompanied Peary on one of his earlier expeditions, was claiming to have reached the North
Pole a year earlier that him. Peary was stripped of his glory until two Eskimos who were with Cook on
his journey revealed Cook s photographic evidence to be fake. The photos were said to have been
taken a long way from the Pole. After a Congressional inquiry in 1911, Peary was once again declared
the first to reach the North Pole. Cook was eventually imprisoned for another scandal concerning an
oil well swindle. All was well; Cook received what he deserved, and Peary got the recognition his
great achievement warranted. After losing eight toes to the Arctic cold and aging prematurely because
so much time spent in the harsh Arctic climate, Peary s dream was officially realized. Because his life
goal had been attained, Peary was able to die in peace, which he did on February 20, 1920. His life
was cut short due to health issues caused by the Arctic cold. He was then buried with his wife
Josephine in a place of honor in Arlington Cemetery. His companion Matthew Henson was later

Use Of Irony In The Gift Of The Magi

Mrs. Rude
Honors English 1
3 October 2014
Everybody loves Christmas. The suspense of not knowing what is under the wrapping paper drives us
absolutely wild. The joy of spending time with family, friends, and your significant other is the best!
But why do loved ones give each other gifts? In O Henry s short story The Gift of the Magi, two
young lovers sacrifice their own most prized possessions to get the other a Christmas gift. Ironically,
each one gets the other a gift to be used for their prized possession; however, the gifts cannot be used
because they no longer have any use. Author O Henry uses irony to enhance, or magnify, the true
meaning of Christmas: to selflessly give to someone you love to show your love for them.

Even though Della and Jim made unwise choices in how to finance their gifts for one another, they
were the wisest in the sense that they sacrificed their own most prized possessions to give to the other.
And here I have related to you the uneventful chronicle of two foolish children in a flat who most
unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house. (Page 251) The narrator claims
that Della and Jim unwisely gave up their valuables to display their love for one another. But in a last
word to the wise of these days, let it be said that of all who gives gifts there two were the wisest. Of all
who give and receive gifts such as they are wisest. Everywhere they are the wisest. They are the magi.
(Page 251) The whole theme of the story is stated here by the narrator. He alludes to the Magi, or
wisemen who bring the best gifts, but the narrator stated that Jim and Della gave the best gift of all,
and they are wiser than the Magi. Besides the fact that Jim and Della were wise to sacrifice their own
prized possessions for each other, the way that they handled the situation and still loved each other
after shows true wisdom. After all, Christmas is about loving your loved

the drug of the ruling class in America is undoubtedly more than a function of its high price in

were once combined in Coca Cola.) Like these other speedy substances, cocaine heightens the senses

legitimates the preferred modality of capitalist subjectivity radical and inviolate individuality. If there
were any doubt about the relationship of cocaine to capitalism, the case is eloquently made by Tony

French War Religion
Religion has impacted the world since the beginning of time. For many years, religion controlled how
the world was run. Countries were led by the churches, and the citizens followed that religion and that
religion alone. Many wars have been fought throughout history simply because of religious beliefs.
One event that had a tremendous religious impact on the world was the French Wars of Religion that
occurred from 1562 1598. At the time, France was at a civil war between the Catholic monarchy and
the Protestant citizens. The events of the French Wars of Religion changed not only France but the

Evaluating Rasmussen s Policies On Academic Integrity
When reviewing Rasmussen s policies on academic integrity, a exceptionally important step is to
ensure that each student is informed as well as equipped to take on the assignments that are asked of
them. As the instructor, expectations must be communicated in a clear, understandable, and attainable
manner. Additionally, resources are made available to help students meet these expectations. The
initial gut reaction to the quality of Bridget s assignments is shock and slightly insulted. Considering
her performance previously in the class, the actions of Bridget would leave one assuming it was done
out of desperation. What is believed could possibly account for her action are several situations. These
situations could include, but not limited to, lack of time management, lack of understanding, fear of
the grade she is accumulating due to the previous mediocre quality of her work, or also simply not
wanting to do the work. Additionally, there could have been a family situation that resulted in Bridget
not be able to complete the work. For these reasons continually genuine purposeful interaction with
the students is essential. By the second week of the course a call would be made to Bridget to engage
her in a conversation about the quality of her work and how to best support her to improve. As the
adjunct, through this type of interaction it will be easier to determine the intention of Bridget. When
there is a violation of academic integrity, as it is communicated in the

Sociological Analysis Of Concrete Angel
Sociology Analysis over Concrete Angel

Abstract
The lyrics of Concrete Angel has meaning to it. The lyrics focus on child abuse. Child abuse is a
problem that may children all over the world face. Child abuse can be in the form of verbal and/or
physical abuse, bullying, and so on. The lyrics shows us how the obvious signs of abuse can be seen
but bystanders choose to ignore what is going on. The lyrics of Concrete Angel relates to sociology in
many ways. The lyrics relate to three perspectives of sociology. Those perspectives are conflict,
interactionism, and functionalism. The main focus of this paper is the characterization portraying the
societal issue of child abuse.
Introduction
The song I chose to do my analysis on is Concrete Angel written by Stephanie Kay Bentley and Rob
Crosby and sung by Martina McBride. I felt the song has meaning and I would be able to analysis it.
The message of the song exudes to it listener to child abuse, or any relating form of abuse. The lyrics
talk about how victims of abuse show obvious signs of physical or mental harm that bystanders
choose to ignore. Concrete Angel is about a little girl who is trapped in a life of turmoil. The song
describes her short innocent life. Her life is lived in vein as neglect and abuse plagues her. The adults
around her seem to be aware of her anguish but like most people they chose to not get

The Future Of Oppression In Black Mirror s San Junipero
The Future of Oppression Black Mirror s San Junipero is an episode that, on the surface, seems to be a
simple love story between two women, Yorkie and Kelly. They meet in the virtual town of San
Junipero, a town that feels very real, but is essentially a simulation where they can be uploaded when
they pass over , their consciousnesses permanently stored in the cloud, alive in the virtual town. Both
are still living but are close to death and are in San Junipero as tourists , allowed to test drive life in
the virtual town for a limited time. They fall in love and their whirlwind romance overcomes Kelly s
moral reservations about being uploaded and Yorkie s reservations of being out with her sexuality. It
also provides Yorkie a chance to live the life that she was denied because of the quadriplegia she
suffered from an accident following her parents poor reaction to her coming out, that paralyzed her
before she truly got to experience life. Hidden underneath the optimistic love story, however, are
levels that suggest that regardless of its invisibility in this story, the patriarchy is still very much in
control, symbolically oppressing them without even needing to be present. The episode was written by
Charlie Brooker, a white man, a paragon of privilege. Despite his privilege, Brooker s work always
comments on and critiques society s standards and future. By delaying the reveal of crucial plot
points, such as the fact that San Junipero is not a physical town, rather an advanced virtual reality,
merely hinting at it with a slow build, Brooker is able to hold the audience captive. Denying
information and providing clues allows viewers to uncover the truth for themselves, to speculate and
remain active watchers. The story may differ depending on the viewer because it truly depends on
what the viewer has been trained to search for in media and what their personal experiences and
history are. All in all, the surface level story is simple enough to pick up on. Even if viewers are not
attuned to Brooker s subtle metaphor, subtle subtext, they will be able to see the story of two women
falling in love in a virtual town. Those attuned to his style or to interpret within the context of
oppression will see another

The Sound of Music And The Sound of Music Live!
The Sound of Music is one of the most favorite musical film movies of all time. The movie was first
introduced to the audience in 1965, and it received popular attention from the public and five
Academy Awards including Best Picture. The movie s plot revolves around Maria, a young woman
who has to leave the convent to become a governess at the Von Trapp family due to a request from the
head nun. During the time at the Von Trapp s house, Maria finds her affection grows bigger every day
with the seven children and the naval officer widower, Captain Georg Von Trapp. In 2013, NBC
decided to produce The Sound of Music Live! as a live television stage production which based on the
original Broadway show in 1959. In both versions, The Sound of Music (1965) and The Sound of
Music Live (2013) have similarities as well as differences in their casts, formats, and public s opinion.
The Sound of Music s huge success in 1965 was mostly because of the exceptional cast, especially
main actress Julie Andrews. For a long time, Julie Andrews has been remembered as a talented actress
with her outstanding voice. Julie Andrews has the full package to become the star of the movie, and

the condition that affects about one in every one thousand children born around the world. (4).

This is where the name trisomy 21 originates. (5).
The extra chromosome in trisomy 21 results in overexpression of the genes. Although overexpression
is not noticeable in many genes, the genes that are involved in Down syndrome seem to be quite
different. In fact, not even all of the genes in the 21st chromosome need to be tripled to result in Down
syndrome. There are approximately 250 genes in the 21st chromosome, and only 20 to 50 genes need
to be involved in the nondisjunction to cause the effects of trisomy 21. The small area within the cell
where genes need to be to cause Down syndrome is called the Critical Region. (3).
There are several genes that researchers believe might be involved in causing Down syndrome.
Overexpression in genes such as CAF1A, Cystathione Beta Synthase (CBS), and GART might be
harmful to DNA synthesis and repair. COL6A1 overexpression may cause heart defects, and CRYA1
overexpression might aid in the development of cataracts. Overexpression of ETS2 may be the cause
of leukemia and skeletal abnormalities, while the DRYK overexpression could possibly result in
mental retardation. Premature aging and decreased function of the immune system may be caused by
the overexpression of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD1). It is important to note, however, that despite
many hypotheses and speculations, no gene has been conclusively linked to

in the rights of people and the community itself. Huerta s father was a field worker, miner, as well as a
union activist. Huerta s mother was a business woman who owned a restaurant and a 70 room hotel
where she helped low wage workers. A lot of Huerta s humanitarianism came from her mother, who
was known for her kindness and compassion for others. Huerta personality followed close to her
mother s as she too was caring and compassionate yet strong minded. Huerta began her activism when
she was attending high school at Stockton High School. She was involved in several school programs
and was even a dedicated Girl Scout till she was eighteen. High school wasn t the easiest for her,
though, in a time when racial times were tough, she recalls a situation where a teacher accused her of
plagiarism and gave her an unfair grade, and she believes this was due to racism. She soon went off to

December 3rd, 2013
Abstract
The popularity of m commerce devices, especially mobile phones among consumers high lighted a
new source of revenue for businesses. An industry review in mobile commerce found a variety of
current trends and business models that will affect future strategic uses from a project management
perspective. This paper explores m commerce technology from a business perspective; how it is
similar and differs from e commerce technically; and tries identifying and exploring potential strategic
uses for this new technology.
Introduction
The Global Mobile Commerce Forum, which came to include over 100 organisations, had its launch

US Revenues from m commerce in 2009 were $1.2 billion(Maher, 2010) and in 2013 it is $25.4
billion and still growing (Brohan 2013), and as consumers become more comfortable with making
purchases with these smartphones, business generated through m commerce is expected to continue to
grow. To capture some of this revenue, most wireless mobile providers now offer phones with
marketplaces that deliver ringtones, music and customer applications, and major business firms such
as Ebay, Macy s, Scottstrade, and Bank of America have custom applications. These factors make m
commerce a new and important form of business technology that firms need to strategically consider.
What is m commerce? In the past, business typically mass produced goods and services, selling them
through store, catalogue and phone. In the 90 s, the Internet produced a shift to these marketing
strategies; forcing business to reevaluate its own business models and how it communicates its
product and services to customers. This diffusion of commerce through the Internet created e
commerce, and it unleashed a revolution in buying power. Today, with the rapid production of the
mobile phone market, mobile telephone offers the potential platform for unprecedented penetration of
the Internet and services such as m commerce. According to Buse and Tiwari (2007) M commerce is

The Church Of The Christian Faith
Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by
tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. Stephen Gunter writes, Perhaps no
theological topic has been the focus of more debate with The United Methodist Church over the past
quarter century than the Wesleyan Quadrilateral . It should be noted that John Wesley never used the
term Wesleyan Quadrilateral to describe his process of theological affirmation. The Wesleyan
Quadrilateral has been misinterpreted to mean four equal sides; however, it was never meant to be
understood that way. Scripture is always the most essential authority for determining our beliefs and
practices. The Bible was so important to John Wesley s faith that he referred to himself as homo unius
libri or a man of one book (The Bible). John Wesley believed that Scripture was the primary source
for theological reflection and Scripture should be read and interpreted in context and as a whole. The
role of tradition in Methodist theological thinking is another important aspect of the Quadrilateral .
Ted Campbell writes, Methodism, Wesley claimed, was in continuity with the religion of the Bible, the
religion of the primitive Church, [and] the religion of the Church of England . John Wesley was trying
to illustrate that the tradition and history of the Church is vital to the understanding of our theology.
The apostolic church s beginning is something that we should be

The Pros And Cons Of Supporting The California Almond...
A multitude of alternatives exist when debating whether or not to continue supporting the California
almond industry or aid in the protest of the water resource strain that plagues California. Two effective
alternatives to this issue would be to import produce from other countries to continue supplying
almond milk but at the same time choose not to contribute to the drought issue in California or to use
other domestically produced milk alternatives that are less water intensive. The United States, or more
specifically California, accounts for roughly 80% of almond production worldwide, with 720,000
tonnes of almonds having been produced in 2012. The other 20% of the world s almond production
originates from countries such as Spain, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the sole purpose of the economical benefits, Hu s Kitchen should continue to sell almond milk
because it provides numerous jobs in the United States. In fact, over one hundred thousand jobs in
California, are created from the almond industry (Fujii, 2014). Every year, the state s almond industry
supplies eleven billion dollars to California s gross domestic product (Kasler, n.d.). In addition to the
gross domestic product, the almond industry generates twenty one billion dollars in economic revenue
(Sauer, 2014). Due to the fact that California produces eighty percent of the world s almonds, this
industry requires farmers to keep up with the demand from the consumers. Thus, over eight hundred
thousand acres of farmland are used to produce the almonds, as seventy percent of the almonds are
exported overseas (Pierson,

Hymns In America
I needed a more detailed account of the history and practices of the Swedish American Church. What
were the interactions like between the churches in America and the churches in Sweden? How did
different denominations function and interact? I choose to include this article because the author
answers these questions in the specific context of hymns. Hymns embody the experiential nature of
religion as songs of adoration and worship. The author of the article, George Ericson, begins by
detailing the evolution of hymns through various religious movements in Swedish history. He focuses
on the transatlantic transfer of hymns between America and Sweden. This source reiterates the
importance of Martin Luther and the Reformation. Olavus Petri published the first Hymnal in the
common language as a result of the Reformation (Ericson 103). Hymns shaped the experience of
religion for the common person. Different waves of religious revival inspired new hymns to be
written. The pietism movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baptist, Methodist, and Pentecostal hymns were translated from English to Swedish during the 19th
century. Often these songs would be sung to traditional folk tunes (despite some criticism). Some
immigrants would even return to Sweden and share lively tunes and inspiring lyrics on preaching tours
(Ericson 106). Unlike other countries, there was not an official connection between the state church in
Sweden and similar congregations in America. The adoption of new hymns demonstrates the free
churchly attitude apparent in the American Lutheran church. Free church refers to a movement in
Sweden in opposition to the state church which resulted in immigration. From my other sources, I
determined that religious motivations did not dominate Swedish immigration. However, the love for
certain hymns demonstrates a trend for Swedish believers to distance their religious practice from the
official church of

Salvador Allende Failed Summary
To abandon the imperialistic idea that the United States of America used to justify its presence in
Chile and ultimately regain its sovereignty as the leader, Salvador Allende, had to reconstruct a new
Chilean identity that abandoned the national notion that Chile did not possess a culture of their own or
wasn t literate enough, to govern itself (Rivera 25). Inspired by Marxism, Allende led a socialist
movement that would reshape the Chilean economy through the nationalization of major industries, as
well as redistribute income through tax and land reform. Salvador Allende his rapid socialist
movement became an ideological battle between socialism and capitalism. Due to Chile s proximity to
the USA, Chile had become a threat to American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his revolutionary ideas began to gain popularity. I intend to prove that the United States strategically

Water Pollution in Lake Huron
Water Pollution on Lake Huron
Water Pollution on Lake Huron
Introduction
Pollution is the presence of dangerous and unwanted substances in the ecosystem that causes
imbalance and health hazards to the living. Water pollution is the presence of unwanted substances or
particles in water, which causes imbalance in water systems. Lake Huron is among the largest fresh
water sources in the States located in North America. Lake Huron is one of the most polluted fresh
water lakes in America. It covers about 189 000 kilometers squared, and it is a component of the
Lauretian Great Lakes. It drains to the Atlantic Ocean through St. Lawrence River. It receives an
inflow from Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, while it drains to Lake Erie. The population
surrounding the lake is about 3 million, which also contribute to its pollution (Ylvisaker 28). Pollution
of Lake Huron has been over the years either through direct point sources or through non point
indirect sources (Saxena 1116). Direct point sources include sewage treatment firms and industries,
which direct their wastes directly into Lake Huron and its tributaries. Nonpoint sources indirectly
pollute water from the Lake, and majorly caused by man s activities and land policies applied by the
man.
Sources of pollution The major source of pollution in Lake Huron is the sewage. Sewage treatment
firms release their wastes directly into the Lake, and may contain harmful substances such as mercury,
lead and magnesium, if released

Summary Of Broken Bones
Title: Broken Bones!
There is always an adventure where my younger sister Lauren and I go. Our young minds always find
so much to do. With so little to do where we lived of course. Lauren and I would run around and play
with these two kids that lived in the same apartment complex. Their names were Marco and Malik.
Unfortunately, they were way younger than me but, I had no one else to play with. No other kids lived
where we lived. While I was in the sixth grade, the boys were only in second and third grade. It wasn t
as hard for Lauren to play with them as seeing how she is two years younger than me. One day, we
decided to play in the back yard where we almost always played. In the backyard, there was a small
dog house that sat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tree branch snapped and I fell four feet off the dog house to the ground and all I hear is
CRUNCH! Excruciating pain sears, stinging, running up and down my right arm. Tears running down
my face, just adding more heat to my pained body. Marco, oh my gosh, what happened? Malik asked
in a loud panicked voice. He wouldn t know considering he was taking a look out waiting for Lauren
to come around. I don t know, I was playing with the tree too, and the next thing I know, she s
screaming and falling off the dog house. Katie are you okay? I ve never seen you cry before? Marco
asked, concerned for me. Shaking my head side to side, tears still running down my face and all I can
feel is the deep pulsing that is running through my arm and wrist. The boys rush over to me, trying to
help me get up so that I can get to my mom in the house. Half way there we see Lauren start rushing
over to us when she sees me. Oh my! Katie what happened? Lauren asked me speaking faster than
normal trying to get out what she wanted to say. She was playing on the tree while we were waiting
for you and she fell off the tree house. Marco described to Lauren for me. She runs to the house to go
and get mom, but before she could get mom out to me, Marco, Malik and me were at the front door.
Mom being the nurturing mother she is, she takes me under her arm, helping

  • 2. Speech On Procrastination Procrastination, a college student s worst enemy, but closest friend. I ve developed this habit where I wait until the very last minute doing an assignment. It has gotten to the point where the clock is ticking down to the last few minutes and I am sitting at my desk just now starting the assignment. What do I do to get in this sticky situation you ask? I do everything but the thing I m supposed to do. Although I would have earned better grades from doing things days before it s due, I ve mastered the technique of putting it off till the last minute. It s a bad habit I picked up, but not one that i ve tried to quit. RECEIVING THE ASSIGNMENT Procrastinating comes in a few stages, the first is receiving the assignment. Receiving the assignment and due date sparked the lies of oh I ll start this as soon as I get home, or I m actually going to get this done early so I don t have to worry about it. So i psych myself up to be motivated to finish it early although it never works out that way. The Professor of the class usually makes a comment of This isn t something you can do the night before it s due. Well obviously in college anything is possible, and they know that at least half of the class is going to do it the night before its due anyways. As soon as the class gets over the paper gets stuffed in my backpack and remains forgotten until I stumble upon it crumpled in the bottom of the bag. Realistically, i do know about the assignment it s just filed in the part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, for black communities, separated but equal doctrine, represents bias, racism, and inequality. Blacks were forced to protest through civil right movements, demanding equality and justice. The treatment from white southern were so horrific, the struggle for freedom, claimed many black s lives. But, Supreme Court answered to abolish this unconstitutional separate but equal doctrine. However, according to the ACLU, this Jim Crow concept is used among inmates incarcerated in the Los Angeles county jail facilities. The notion that, these inmates are not willing to integrate among each other is an empirical flawed argument. In the meantime, a temporal system called TRESS illustrates, the separate but equal, expected to deterrent violence inmates from destructive behaviors. But in reality, it only recreated a society of racism within the jail system. These rules are Jim Crow old black codes law from the south. • 5. The Implementation Of Salad Bars The Implementation of Salad Bars in Schools In recent years, the issue of childhood obesity has gained major attention in the United States. The percentage of obesity has risen tremendously within the last decade. In a recent news article, American Obesity Rates Are on the Rise, Maggie Fox states about 28 percent of the people in America admits that they are obese (Fox). The United States has become the country with the highest rate of obesity in the world. Besides adults who are obese, obesity is also a common issue to children and teenagers. Children in the U.S who are obese will most likely develop a higher risk of having medical issues. • 6. Not True Love in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Essay Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet popularly considered by many to be the quintessential love story of all time is a play that we are all familiar with in one way or another. Whether it be through the plethora of portrayals, adaptations and performances that exist or through your own reading of the play, chances are you have been acquainted with this tale of tragic love at some point in your life. Through this universal familiarity an odd occurrence can be noted, one of almost canonical reverence for the themes commonly believed to be central to the plot. It is the attention he receives that causes me to scrutinize him with a keener eye; after all, we must hold those we revere most highly accountable for their actions . . . From the moment we first hear about Romeo, it is in the context of his suffering at the hands of love. Romeo s father, Montague, perplexed by his son s behavior states that, Many a morning hath he there been seen, / With tears augmenting the fresh morning s dew, / Adding to clouds more clouds with his deep sighs (1.1.124 26). While this may be the first time we encounter Romeo s melancholy humour, it certainly isn t the last. In fact, one of the primary sources of our infatuation with Romeo rests in our sympathy for him. From the very start this poor boy is plagued by affections for girls that fate, it seems, will not let him be with. At first, it s Rosaline, a girl who has sworn that she will still live chaste (1.1.210), a vow that sets Romeo reeling and complaining because from love s weak childish bow she lives unharmed (1.1.204). His depression over Rosaline is enough to draw the attention of his father, Montague, who has observed that Romeo shuts himself up in his room all day in order to wallow in the darkness. In three well developed paragraphs, discuss three character traits revealed by Miss Emily s dialogue alone. Length: 350 500 words. Miss Emily is an old style southern belle ensnared in a culture bent on forcing her to stay in her task. She adheres to the old ways even as she struggles to break free. When she is not even 40, she is on a way that entails dying alone in an apparently ghostly house. The story, A Rose for Emily, opens to the viewing of Miss Emily s death. The tale summons up the Emily s through flashbacks of several points, much like every persons mind in life when recalling (Faulkner, pg 56). The speaker talks about how much of a trouble Miss Emily was to the township as a result of her old fashion ways. All through the story, we learn about Miss Emily s partner standings and isolation. • 10. `` Blown Away `` By Josh Kear And Chris Tompkins Use... Fathers are viewed as the head of the household and the glue that holds the family together. For this reason, as young girls grow up, they look to their fathers for stability and comfort. In the song, the father was the complete opposite of everything good. He failed the young girl by tearing her down and making her life miserable. In Blown Away , the authors Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins use symbolism and imagery to show the difficulties the girl face as a child and how she finds hope for a better future. One device the authors use to portray hope is symbolism. The first way the song exhibits symbolism is through the tornado and the destruction is causes. Carrie Underwood sings, The weather man called for a twister / she pray it blow down (lines 5 6). These lines show that she wants the tornado to come down towards her. It represents the destruction her father has brought her life, but also the hope she has that it will be good for her future. She realizes that while the tornado might destroy everything she owns and knows about her childhood, it will also set her free from her father and the darkness that is bringing her down. Her life is like the storm. Before a storm comes it is dark and dreary outside, much like her life now. After a storm passes the skies clear and a rainbow appears, this is what her life will be like after the tornado passes. The storm takes away all the bad in her life and leaves her with an open path to a brighter future. The second way the authors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will be performing a visual analysis on one of the friezes depicted in the Pergamon altar of Zeus showing the Goddess Athena, who helped Olympus fight against the titans. In this essay I will explore how the Pergamon frieze is a metaphor for the victory of greek culture over the unknown, the unspoken fear of the greeks against the chaotic forces of nature by looking at the movement of lines, illusionistic space and virtuoso sculpting here of the human body. Athena greek goddess of war and wisdom was one of the most powerful goddesses in the greek pantheon, and as said, by her birth, came fully armed from the head of zeus, which had inspired the common representation of her shown in armour, helmet, spear, and with a shield. She also held the head of Gorgon Medusa over her aegis. She was an embodiment of wisdom, reason, and purity. Regional Implications The continuous conflict and seemingly unending civil war in Syria has made the refugee settlement mission a difficult task. The persistent state of fear has given rise to security controls across the border, and the incessant displacement of people from Syria has increased vulnerability amongst refugees seeking asylum. The number of refugees has grown steadily and has reached a disturbing number of 235,000 according to UNHCR. In addition, many immigrants remain unregistered and vulnerable in the neighbouring regions simply because the countries hosting them are also incapable to make available adequate resources due to economic constraints. Turkey, due to its financial status, has been able to cope positively with the 80,000 refugees in the country. Iraq is trying to cope with the incursion of immigrants into the country, fearing a reaction from al Qaeda who might use the refugee issue to settle in Iraq. Iraq has taken in only about 16,000 refugees so far, according to the United Nations. On the other hand, Lebanon is hosting about 100,000 refugees and in spite of the latest conflict in the country; the number of immigrants crossing over has not decreased. So by the age of eight, I was done with learning how to read and write, and started my science studies. I gained some of my skills through writing in Arabic like meditation and the way of thinking, but this part of life is barely related to the kind of writer I am now, because writing in English is completely different. • 15. Folic Acid Biology Internal And Acid Folic Acid Biology Internal Folate acid is a B vitamin that is essential to humans and can be found in a large variety of foods including leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, wholemeal bread, yeast, and liver. Pteroylmonoglutamic acid or commonly known as folic acid is the man made version of folate. Folic acid is used in dietary supplements as it is easier to absorb into the body and is stable, compared to the naturally produced folate. Unlike natural folate, which is instantly absorbed by the mucosa of the small intestine, folic acid requires an initial reduction and methylation in the liver before it can be absorbed by the small intestines to be used in our body. This is where the problems lies. As folic acid is quick to absorb but slow to be metabolised, there will be a build up of both of them in our bodies. There is speculation going around that this extra build up of folate and folic in our body puts the New Zealand population at risk for death and disability from other diseases and nutritional deficiencies. Folate is vital in the growth and reproduction of our cells. An anaemia called megaloblastic anaemia can occur if there is a deficiency of folate in our blood. Megaloblastic anaemia causes immature enlarged and dysfunctional red blood cells which means a decrease in oxygen transport around the body. Folic acid also can help the development of healthy babies in early pregnancy as it reduces the risk of neural tube defect. NTDs are a number of different birth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This analyzes is to be done using thin layer chromatography (TLC). Also, in this experiment we isolate β carotene from spinach using column chromatography (CC). Chromatography is a separation technique. It separates a mixture in one state of matter by moving it through another substance in another state of matter (Woodford, 2016). Chromatography consists of a compound that does not move in the entire experiment (stationary phase) and another compound that runs through the stationary phase (mobile phase). Thin layer chromatography uses a thin sheet of silica gel as the stationary phase. If the number of people that continuously ignore the ability to vote increases only a small portion of the country will be deciding who leads us and makes the decisions that will either protect us or endanger us. The effects of these decisions can be in economics and war. Also, if only a fraction of the population votes there is a much a greater chance of imbalance in politics. For example, this could cause more Democrats or Republicans to vote and make it too easy for one party to be in office. The sub prime lenders are considered, in some instances, as a last resort since they tend to give loans to people with a very low credit scores or an otherwise extremely high risk of default. This type of lender offers loans at exorbitant interest rates as a way of covering losses from the high default rate they experience with their borrowers. • 25. Warhol And The Pop Art Movement Andy Warhol being not simply a Pop artist, but an American artist who was known as the master of Pop Art, and about two of Warhol s most famous paintings; Coca Cola and Campbell s Soup Cans. Andy Warhol was an artist and filmmaker, an initiator for the Pop Art movement in the 1960s. Warhol used mass production techniques to elevate art into the supposed unoriginality of the commercial culture of the United States. Warhol s early drawings frequently recalls the Anglo Saxon tradition of nonsense humor, a characteristically childlike exuberance, and the fact that Warhol was successfully earning a living in the advertising industry at the time was sufficient for many to dismiss his entire artistic output during this period as commercial art . Fifty years ago, Pop art captured the spirit of Warhol s young art, but that basic structure has been (to most people) a revealing profitless movement for years. Pop art was a 1960s movement that focused on everyday objects, comic books and mediated images now seems quaint and playful, but not Warhol. In the first part of Andy Warhol s career he was an iconoclast, in the second, the artist as businessman. In 1960 Warhol s graphic works underwent a fundamental change in terms of subject matter, accompanied at about the same time by a change in technique. Warhol s graphic work covers areas not normally associated with the art of the twentieth century, and which might even be considered unique. In Andy Warhol s paintings and prints of ... The Future Of Oppression In Black Mirror s San Junipero The Future of Oppression Black Mirror s San Junipero is an episode that, on the surface, seems to be a simple love story between two women, Yorkie and Kelly. They meet in the virtual town of San Junipero, a town that feels very real, but is essentially a simulation where they can be uploaded when they pass over , their consciousnesses permanently stored in the cloud, alive in the virtual town. Both are still living but are close to death and are in San Junipero as tourists , allowed to test drive life in the virtual town for a limited time. They fall in love and their whirlwind romance overcomes Kelly s moral reservations about being uploaded and Yorkie s reservations of being out with her sexuality. It also provides Yorkie a chance to live the life that she was denied because of the quadriplegia she suffered from an accident following her parents poor reaction to her coming out, that paralyzed her before she truly got to experience life. Hidden underneath the optimistic love story, however, are levels that suggest that regardless of its invisibility in this story, the patriarchy is still very much in control, symbolically oppressing them without even needing to be present. The episode was written by Charlie Brooker, a white man, a paragon of privilege. Despite his privilege, Brooker s work always comments on and critiques society s standards and future. By delaying the reveal of crucial plot points, such as the fact that San Junipero is not a physical town, rather an advanced virtual reality, merely hinting at it with a slow build, Brooker is able to hold the audience captive. Denying information and providing clues allows viewers to uncover the truth for themselves, to speculate and remain active watchers. The story may differ depending on the viewer because it truly depends on what the viewer has been trained to search for in media and what their personal experiences and history are. All in all, the surface level story is simple enough to pick up on. US Revenues from m commerce in 2009 were $1.2 billion(Maher, 2010) and in 2013 it is $25.4 billion and still growing (Brohan 2013), and as consumers become more comfortable with making purchases with these smartphones, business generated through m commerce is expected to continue to grow. To capture some of this revenue, most wireless mobile providers now offer phones with marketplaces that deliver ringtones, music and customer applications, and major business firms such as Ebay, Macy s, Scottstrade, and Bank of America have custom applications. These factors make m commerce a new and important form of business technology that firms need to strategically consider. What is m commerce? In the past, business typically mass produced goods and services, selling them through store, catalogue and phone. In the 90 s, the Internet produced a shift to these marketing strategies; forcing business to reevaluate its own business models and how it communicates its product and services to customers. This diffusion of commerce through the Internet created e commerce, and it unleashed a revolution in buying power. Today, with the rapid production of the mobile phone market, mobile telephone offers the potential platform for unprecedented penetration of the Internet and services such as m commerce. According to Buse and Tiwari (2007) M commerce is defined as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Church Of The Christian Faith Wesley believed that the living core of the Christian faith was revealed in Scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. Stephen Gunter writes, Perhaps no theological topic has been the focus of more debate with The United Methodist Church over the past quarter century than the Wesleyan Quadrilateral . It should be noted that John Wesley never used the term Wesleyan Quadrilateral to describe his process of theological affirmation. The Wesleyan Quadrilateral has been misinterpreted to mean four equal sides; however, it was never meant to be understood that way. Scripture is always the most essential authority for determining our beliefs and practices. The Bible was so important to John Wesley s faith that he referred to himself as homo unius libri or a man of one book (The Bible). John Wesley believed that Scripture was the primary source for theological reflection and Scripture should be read and interpreted in context and as a whole. The role of tradition in Methodist theological thinking is another important aspect of the Quadrilateral . Ted Campbell writes, Methodism, Wesley claimed, was in continuity with the religion of the Bible, the religion of the primitive Church, [and] the religion of the Church of England . John Wesley was trying to illustrate that the tradition and history of the Church is vital to the understanding of our theology. The apostolic church s beginning is something that we should be ... • 44. The Pros And Cons Of Supporting The California Almond... A multitude of alternatives exist when debating whether or not to continue supporting the California almond industry or aid in the protest of the water resource strain that plagues California. Two effective alternatives to this issue would be to import produce from other countries to continue supplying almond milk but at the same time choose not to contribute to the drought issue in California or to use other domestically produced milk alternatives that are less water intensive. The United States, or more specifically California, accounts for roughly 80% of almond production worldwide, with 720,000 tonnes of almonds having been produced in 2012. The other 20% of the world s almond production originates from countries such as Spain, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the sole purpose of the economical benefits, Hu s Kitchen should continue to sell almond milk because it provides numerous jobs in the United States. In fact, over one hundred thousand jobs in California, are created from the almond industry (Fujii, 2014). Every year, the state s almond industry supplies eleven billion dollars to California s gross domestic product (Kasler, n.d.). In addition to the gross domestic product, the almond industry generates twenty one billion dollars in economic revenue (Sauer, 2014). Due to the fact that California produces eighty percent of the world s almonds, this industry requires farmers to keep up with the demand from the consumers. Thus, over eight hundred thousand acres of farmland are used to produce the almonds, as seventy percent of the almonds are exported overseas (Pierson, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Hymns In America I needed a more detailed account of the history and practices of the Swedish American Church. What were the interactions like between the churches in America and the churches in Sweden? How did different denominations function and interact? I choose to include this article because the author answers these questions in the specific context of hymns. Hymns embody the experiential nature of religion as songs of adoration and worship. The author of the article, George Ericson, begins by detailing the evolution of hymns through various religious movements in Swedish history. He focuses on the transatlantic transfer of hymns between America and Sweden. This source reiterates the importance of Martin Luther and the Reformation. Olavus Petri published the first Hymnal in the common language as a result of the Reformation (Ericson 103). Hymns shaped the experience of religion for the common person. Different waves of religious revival inspired new hymns to be written. The pietism movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baptist, Methodist, and Pentecostal hymns were translated from English to Swedish during the 19th century. Often these songs would be sung to traditional folk tunes (despite some criticism). Some immigrants would even return to Sweden and share lively tunes and inspiring lyrics on preaching tours (Ericson 106). Unlike other countries, there was not an official connection between the state church in Sweden and similar congregations in America. The adoption of new hymns demonstrates the free churchly attitude apparent in the American Lutheran church. Free church refers to a movement in Sweden in opposition to the state church which resulted in immigration. From my other sources, I determined that religious motivations did not dominate Swedish immigration. However, the love for certain hymns demonstrates a trend for Swedish believers to distance their religious practice from the official church of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Salvador Allende Failed Summary To abandon the imperialistic idea that the United States of America used to justify its presence in Chile and ultimately regain its sovereignty as the leader, Salvador Allende, had to reconstruct a new Chilean identity that abandoned the national notion that Chile did not possess a culture of their own or wasn t literate enough, to govern itself (Rivera 25). Inspired by Marxism, Allende led a socialist movement that would reshape the Chilean economy through the nationalization of major industries, as well as redistribute income through tax and land reform. Salvador Allende his rapid socialist movement became an ideological battle between socialism and capitalism. Due to Chile s proximity to the USA, Chile had become a threat to American ... Water pollution is the presence of unwanted substances or particles in water, which causes imbalance in water systems. Lake Huron is among the largest fresh water sources in the States located in North America. Lake Huron is one of the most polluted fresh water lakes in America. It covers about 189 000 kilometers squared, and it is a component of the Lauretian Great Lakes. It drains to the Atlantic Ocean through St. Lawrence River. It receives an inflow from Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, while it drains to Lake Erie. The population surrounding the lake is about 3 million, which also contribute to its pollution (Ylvisaker 28). • 48. Summary Of Broken Bones Title: Broken Bones! There is always an adventure where my younger sister Lauren and I go. Our young minds always find so much to do. With so little to do where we lived of course. Lauren and I would run around and play with these two kids that lived in the same apartment complex. Their names were Marco and Malik. Unfortunately, they were way younger than me but, I had no one else to play with. No other kids lived where we lived. While I was in the sixth grade, the boys were only in second and third grade. It wasn t as hard for Lauren to play with them as seeing how she is two years younger than me. One day, we decided to play in the back yard where we almost always played. In the backyard, there was a small dog house that sat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wouldn t know considering he was taking a look out waiting for Lauren to come around. I don t know, I was playing with the tree too, and the next thing I know, she s screaming and falling off the dog house. Katie are you okay? I ve never seen you cry before? Marco asked, concerned for me. Shaking my head side to side, tears still running down my face and all I can feel is the deep pulsing that is running through my arm and wrist. The boys rush over to me, trying to help me get up so that I can get to my mom in the house. Half way there we see Lauren start rushing over to us when she sees me. Oh my! Katie what happened? Lauren asked me speaking faster than normal trying to get out what she wanted to say. She was playing on the tree while we were waiting for you and she fell off the tree house. Marco described to Lauren for me. She runs to the house to go and get mom, but before she could get mom out to me, Marco, Malik and me were at the front door.
