Explication Of The Lamb By William Blake
Explication of The Lamb
The Lamb is a short poem written by William Black, an english poet and writer who lived from
1757 to 1827, a lot of his works were written near the start of the romantic period. This movement
focused on the expressions of human spirituality, with a focus on nature. He lived a simple life
and worked as an illustrator and writer. The Lamb is a lyrics poem that contains two ten line
stanzas. Each pair of lines rhymes with the correlating line and this persists throughout the poem.
The Lamb s theme alone is to praise God for creating something so virtuous. The first stanza
consists of Blake posing a question, which sets the tone for the entirety of the poem. It is easy to
identify that the question is directly referring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the symbolism is used to describe the lamb itself as well as its sustenance. Another
literary device is of course, the biblical allusion of the lamb and the Lord, as well as their relation.
Blake honours Jesus specifically with the line, He became a little child (line 16) for the sacrifice
he made for humanity by coming to earth. In addition, the lines, I a child and thou a lamb, we are
called by his name (Lines 17 18) further expand on the religious theme of the poem. Through this
it is implied that the speaker had been a child all along;which correlates with Blake s works in
Songs of Innocence.
Ultimately this is a surprisingly simple poem with a relatively deep underlying message. This
format syncs up beautifully with the poems messages of a lamb s innocence and therefore a child
s innocence. The style is also accentuated with the simple verbiage, the use of repetition, and the
device of a child narrator. The larger theme comes into play still dealing with religion when the
poem is aligned with its counterpart The Tyger, to question God s intentions behind him creating all
of humanity including what is holy and virtuous, and what is vile and

Edward The Vikings Achievements
After Alfred the Great and his son successfully ruled England, many of the kings that followed them
were not as successful. Eventually, under the rule of Ethelred, the Vikings took over England again.
As the years progressed, and the Anglo Saxons lived together with the Vikings, they began to all
began to think of themselves as English. This understanding meant no more Viking troubles, right?
Well, not exactly. When Edward the Confessor ruled England, he had no sons. Because of this,
several men wanted to inherit the throne. Harold, a nobleman from Wessex, gained support from
many of those in power throughout England. William, the duke of Normandy (in France), thought
that since he was a distant cousin of Edward the people should crown him the next English king.
When Harold s boat shipwrecked on the coast of Normandy, William deviously welcomed Harold
into his castle. He prepared a feast and afterwards made Harold promise he would give the throne
to William.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When William heard the news, he immediately sent a message to Harold demanding that William
abdicate the throne. Harold refused. In response, William sailed with his army across the English
Channel and prepared for battle. After fighting the Danes, Harold heard of William s arrival. He
immediately took his battle weary men down to the shores at Hastings. The English fought
bravely, and it appeared they would win, but in the end, the Normans killed Harold. As a result,
William won the English crown. William gave his men land and castles in England. Foreigners
once again ruled England. William was dubbed William the Conqueror, and the people buried
Harold under the epitaph of Harold, the

Abrahamic Religions Of Judaism, Christianity, And Islam
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are considered an Abrahamic religion. All stated in the Middle
East near Israel. Abrahamic religions are those religions traced by their adherents to Abraham. All
Abrahamic Religions are considered monotheistic, which is the belief in a single, universal, all
encompassing God. Islam, Christianity, and Judaismbelieve that their sacred texts (or scriptures)
are the Word of God. In Christianity the sacred text is the Bible, For Islam it is the Qur an, and for
Judaism it is the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh.
There exists the expectation of an individual who will herald the end of the world, and/or bring
about the Kingdom of God on Earth. Judaism awaits the coming of the Jewish Messiah.
Christianity awaits the Second Coming of Christ. Islam awaits the coming of Mahdi (Sunnis in
his first incarnation, Shi as the return of Muhammad al Mahdi). The three religions encompass
Gabriel as considered an archangel to Jews and Christian and according to Islam Gabriel is the
angel who revealed the Qur an to Muhammad. The religions also adhere to a pilgrimage which is
considered a spiritual long journey or search of great moral significance. Sometimes, it is a
journey to a sacred place or shrine of importance to a person s beliefs and faith. Islam, Christianity,
and Judaism involve themselves in pilgrimages.
Judaism and Islam have strict dietary laws, with lawful food being called kosher in Judaism and
Halaal in Islam. Christianity developed ritual prohibitions against the consumption of meat (but not
fish) on Fridays, and the Christian calendars prescribe abstinence from some foods at various times
of the year; but these customs vary from place to place and changed over time.
In all cultures, human beings make a lifestyle out of interacting with and pledging their devotion to
what are thought to be spiritual powers. Humans connect themselves with these spiritual powers
which give their lives purpose and meaning. Religion is simply used to guide its followers through
this complicated and diverse realm of human experience. According to the American Heritage
Dictionary, religion is, the belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as
creator and governor of the universe. In

Betrayal In As I Lay Dying
Betrayals for Self Preservation Individuals are not born with the conception of vicious intentions.
They are simply taught that the concept of betrayal is acceptable throughout the course of their
lifetime. Many novels, movies, and tv shows focus on the concept of betrayal because it adds depth
and drama to the plot. William Faulknermanipulates this idea in his fictional novelAs I Lay Dying
by using different perspectives of characters to display acts of betrayal and the outcomes that they
develop. Dewey Dell, the daughter of Anse and Addie Bundren, double crosses multiple people
throughout the novel, including her own father and brothers Darl and Vardaman. Over the duration
of the novel, characters tend to utilize betrayal to promote oneself... Show more content on

Dewey Dell betrays him by leaving him in the middle of the night, unattended in an unfamiliar
area, which is irresponsible considering his young age. She also commits the act of buying
bananas instead of a toy train, which he desired. These betrayals are driven as well by her
yearning of getting rid of her and Lafe s child. When Dewey Dell goes to get her medicine from
MacGowan, she left Vardaman alone, I looked out the door, but there wasn t nobody but a boy in
overalls sitting on the curb (Faulkner 248). In response to this MacGowan asks Vardaman if he
wants anything, but he gets no reply in return, then he locks the door and turns off the lights to
continue on with Dewey Dell. After Dewey Dell leaves MacGowan s, she has a conversation with
Vardaman about the toy train he wants, The track went shining around the window, it red on the
track. But she said he would not sell it to the town boys. But it will be there Christmas, Dewey Dell
says... (Faulkner 250). Instead of buying the toy train for Vardaman she insists on getting bananas
that she would enjoy, rather than being selfless and getting something that he would like. She says
this knowing that the family will most likely not return to Jefferson again which further accentuates

The Signalman by Charles Dickens, The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
People have written short stories for hundreds of years; however it was not until the 19th
century that they really became popular. Short stories were the ideal form for writers who
wanted to earn some immediate money and reach a wide audience. As more people were given
the chance of receiving basic education, literacy rates improved and more were able to enjoy
reading. As the technology improved printing became cheaper meaning that more people could
afford to buy and read cheap magazines. This was in the days before television or radio when
reading aloud was a much more popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It shows how the relationship between an oppressive husband and his submissive wife pushes her
from depression into insanity. At first she does not like the room and its horrid wallpaper but soon
she becomes intrigued by its patterns and what lurks behind them.
The third story The Adventure of the Speckled Band is a typical murder mystery story. Sherlock
Holmes is presented with a baffling set of circumstances from which he deduces the facts and
reveals the villain. All three stories are common in that they are written in the first person singular.
This has the effect of engaging the reader and making him feel part of the unfolding tale.
Conan Doyle uses this technique in writing The Speckled Band . His story revolves around the
character of the detective, Sherlock Holmes, however it is told as seen through the eyes of his
companion, Dr
Watson, providing a good example of writing in the first person.
The Signalman is told in first person narrative; which makes the story extremely personal, meaning
that the reader becomes more involved in the story and it feels like it is actually happening at the
same time as you read it.
Charles Dickens also uses dialogue to reveal the account of the haunting and I believe he does
this to make it even more personal still. The Yellow Wallpaper is written almost in a diary form.
Reading it you feel as if you are in the woman s head as she makes notes in her journal. All three are

Bad Things About Cars Research Paper
Technology is always changing, some people would say it s a good thing. Their other people
who like having their life on a repeat ordinarily would think to change it s a bad thing. One thing
that is always changing is cars. From what I heard growing up cars are a need for people, nor
more a want because people need cars for transportation. Even in the book Business Driven
Technology said that cars a good. The only way to get rid of the car is if someone invents
teleportation. When someone is looking for a car they see how safe it is like as if the airbag or
the brakes still work. There other people who look for how fast the car goes nevertheless, how
many miles do the car have. Another word for this is sustaining technology. This means
improving product like cars where people are eager to buy a fast car. Many people like myself
who are always driving would want to know how much does car safely in gas. In the article from
The Verge written by the staff of Verge explain that many car companies are going autonomous
car. They also said General Motors are known for antique cars, but recently they have come out by
next year autonomous cars. General Motors are trying to improve their company so they invest
$500 millions of dollars in Lyft. Lyft is similar to a taxi. I feel that autonomous cat is a paradigm
shift. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

So, in the book, it said that if you work with another company you are considered a partnership.
Both of the companies would have to agree to work with each other to see what is better for the
company. Google just debuted self driven minivan in this year. Google decided, in the end, to not
make the other car instead Google made a deal with Chrysler and Honda. Google would rather sell

Physics And Physics Of Molecular Levels
Although Prof Cook had already pointed the direction of my research objective, however, I did not
have a clear picture about it.
He wanted to explore microscopic effects of the relativity in molecular levels which meant to find
out the difference of interactions within a molecule with or without relativistic considerations.
Moreover, when problems arising from computing the interaction between objects, even only
considering Newtonian effects, mathematics was not that powerful, which could not derive a
precise solution for a three body problem. Now we needed to consider interaction within a
molecule, which had three bodies at least, in terms of quantum and relativistic laws.

I had already deleted quit from my vocabulary.
Realizing it was a personal journey, by myself alone, nobody could replace my own effort, day in
day out, I went to the lab read books, or to the library seek relative articles. Read and thought, read
again, thought again, compared several books to try extract meaning of each concept and each
equation. Biting the bullet and clenching teeth I pushed forward. With a purpose in mind, I put my
energy to face the challenge.
Professor had never lost his patience. That is all right. Take as much time as you need, he would say.
Some times he even spent time to digest the essence of some articles step by step.
It was a typical day after I struggled a couple of hours, the text blurred, the symbols on the
equations seemed to crawl on top of each other. It was mind bottling ordeals.
Shaking my head, squinting my eyes, I tried to figure out the meaning of what I was reading, but I
failed.
Even though I had a strong background in physics and mathematics, however, unlike what I
expected as when in college days I had absorbed every new concept, every hard differential
equation with ease, being 36 years old, and away from demanding study for more than a decade, I
found digging into special theoretical monographs not only involved fundamental physics and
math, but demanding of deep thinking and hard grasping new abstract concepts.
In a restroom, I splashed cold water on my face and took deep breaths, I needed a break

Watchmen, A Comic Book
Watchmen is a revolutionary piece of literature. It is technically a comic book, some prefer to call it
a graphic novel. There is a negative connotation that goes along with that. Graphic novels are
frequently presumed too childish and fantastic to actually teach any insightful lessons or even make
you ponder them at all. Watchmenis a graphic novel that transcends this undue criticism of comic
books. It is, One of the first instances ... of [a] new kind of comic book ... a first phase of
development, the transition of the superhero from fantasy to literature. (Klock, pgs. 25 26)

This event pushed Kovacs into donning his vigilante persona. However, Rorschach, according to
Walter, was not created then. He didn t become Rorschach until later in his crime fighting career.
Walter was forever changed after investigating a gruesome case, in which a little girl was
kidnapped, murdered, and fed to the perpetrator s dogs. After solving the case, Rorschach

It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the

to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world.

for his mask, which consisted in ever changing Rorschach ink blots. When faced with a moral

Great Expectations And Oliver Twist Analysis
People tend naively see orphans and those without caring families as hopeless and loveless
creatures. However, the goodness of strangers can easily prove these thoughts nonsensical as
people can provide an abundance of support and love to those with no blood relation to them and
can embrace strangers as family. In Charles Dickenstwo novels Great Expectationsand Oliver Twist,
Dickens challenges the typical idea of parentage and suggests the through love and generosity
anyone can become a guardian or mentor figure. Therefore, people should not place as much faith
in blood relations and look to others for sources of guidance and compassion.
Although bloodlines seemed to dictate who raised whom in the 1830s, children could find
guidance through those closest to them regardless of their non familial relationship. In Oliver
Twist, Dickens provides numerous figures to guide poor Oliver, none of which are related to
him by blood, excepting Rose. After falling ill and denounced as a thief, Mr. Brownlow and the
housekeeper bestow great kindness and tender care upon Oliver and nurture him as though he
was their child: I have never forgotten them or his quiet smile, but have seen them every day, side
by side with those of my own children (388). The housekeeper especially gives motherly attention
to Oliver although she has no prior relation to him. She compares Oliver to her memories of her
own progeny and therefore blatantly stands in as a mother figure in Oliver s life. By

Similarities Between Confucianism And Buddhism
There are a number of similarities between the eastern religions and philosophies of Confucianism,
Buddhism and Hinduism. While Hinduism is centered around a supreme being, Buddhism and
Confucianism are centered around the teachings of a man. Each encourages moral behavior, ethical
values, such as non violence, charity, and a respect for the universe. To better understand the
philosophical similarities and differences between Confucianism, Buddhismand Hinduism, it is
important first to consider the teachings of Buddha, Patanjali and Confucius in their historical
context. Buddhism is a tradition that evolved from the original teachings of Siddhartha Gautama,
the Buddha or Enlightened One. Buddha was born a Hindu in about 563 B.C.E. He was of
aristocratic birth and grew up in relative luxury and the security of the ruling class of that period.
At age twenty nine, he tired of his comfortable existence and renounced the world and went in
search of wisdom. Tradition states that he attained enlightenment on a full moon day in May under
a fig tree. According to Buddha s teachings, the purpose of life is to end suffering and develop
compassion for all living things without discrimination. He taught that meditation must be used to
move beyond selfish concerns and desires. Only by quieting the mind can people connect with the
power of the larger universe and reach a state of enlightenment and peace. Buddha s teaching, or
dharma, begins with the Four Noble Truths. He disclosed

The Provider And Patient Attributes
Provider and Patient Attributes
We collected a set of attributes for providers and patients from the EDW. For providers, we
extracted employee ID, employee role, and a physician index (a Boolean value; 1 if provider is a
type of physician, 0 if not). For patients, we extracted age, encounter type (all inpatient in this data
set), admission and discharge times, primary diagnosis, discharge location, length of stay, med
service (department to which the patient was admitted), discharge disposition (where the patient
was discharged to), and an index noting whether or not the patient had expired.
Network Visualization
We created two types of networks in this study. The first is a directed bipartite network and
represents interactions between providers and patient records (Figure 2). The second network is
undirected and depicts shared patient record access between providers (Figure 3). Visualization for
both networks was performed using Gephi. [59] Further description of these networks follows.

nurse, pharmacist, etc. The target node designates a patient with a diagnosis of heart failure who
was admitted to NMH in 2012. An edge between them is an indication that the provider has

Vermont s Expansion Of The French And Indian War
As the French and English both continued their expansion through New England, conflicts arose.
These developed into a world war; in America it is called the French and Indian War as it involved

Vermont was greatly influenced by events in the French and Indian War, starting as early as 1700,
and the ultimate English victory; all of this showing the reason for the hesitant start followed by a
large influx of expansion by the British. Settled in 1740, Fort at Number 4 was the northernmost

Father s Roles And Society In Fools Crow By James Welch
Not all Boys Grow up to be like their Father As the United States expands westward in the late

Pikunis tribe and its people as they confront new white settlers and its impact on their society and

Symptoms And Treatment Of A Migraine Sufferer
Each year over twenty six million people nation wide are affected by migraines. Once thought to
be a concentration of evil spirits in the brain, common cures consisted of everything from drilling
holes in the skull, to inserting garlic cloves into the temples. Today however, scientists realize
that this all too common occurrence is actually a neurological disorder, which can result in the
disability of its victim for hours or even days. I myself have been a constant sufferer of migraines
since the age of twelve. The following is the life of a migrainesufferer: myself.
I am a 16 year old that has had migraines for almost 5 years, and in the last year my migraines have
exponentially increased to the point where I am unable to do anything. I end up in hospital once a
month and treatment only helps for a certain amount of time.
During a migraine, you feel an unreasonable amount of pressure in your head, and then a throb hits
you on the sides of the head so hard that your head bobs to the other side. There s no way that
came from inside your head, you think. That s no hypothetical crisis. God just punched you in the
face.
My parents believed that the most appropriate place to begin is a brief look into my and my
family s medical background. Since the age of twelve I have constantly been struck with
migraines, occurring more and more frequently as I age. Migraines can strike children as well as
adults, however; typically the migraines become less frequent after early adulthood.

World s Saddest Music Editing
I ll let you in on a little secret, I don t believe that all this sadness really exists. Well, bad things
happen, plenty of it, not denying that. Somehow, when people start trying to show how they ve
been affected by these bad things, they start faking it. They know that deep down no one really
cares, but they want people to know they re suffering damn it, and others will go along with it,
making faces hoping someone will notice, so that when something awful happens to them, they can
get some of this fake pity for themselves. The act of enjoying sadness and the ability to dramatize it

On the basis of each timed performance, whether it be the Siamese vs. Mexicans, Canada vs. Africa,
Spain vs. America, and so forth, another aspect of continuity editing is present that further supports
the hybrid that exist sparingly throughout the film. The saddest music performances are debuted
using shot/reverse shot continuity editing. The final buzzer sound that communicates to each act to
perform simultaneously, debuts two shots edited together that alternates between each performing
country, similar to a conversation. Each country is at each other s necks, communicated and
intensified by the shot/reverse shot of which country is truly performing the saddest music.
Nonetheless, Soviet montage editing does triumph, as the music during these scenes correlates with
the editing of the image, revealing the rhythmic aspect of it. Furthermore, it s also evident that the
making of entertainment based on the pain of others feeds into the capitalist society. The artful
composition between opponents exploits misery for money. The increased sale of beer as the
audience enjoys each sad performance, further supports this theory, which is seen through the cuts

because I really find typing quite easy and fun so I really like exploratory. Also this trimester I got a
ELT called foods which I really think I will like because you get to make foods. Some of the foods
you get to make are cookies, muffins, pizza, and maybe even a pot pie. Although I like 8th grade
classes what I don t like about 8th grade is that I am one more year closer to high school. (I don t
want to go to high school for some reason)

On Thursday I left at 3:30pm and it was a eight hour drive to Detroit. On Friday my first game was
at 11:00 and we played horrible and ended up losing the second game we played we played really
good the first half of the game and we where up by three but the second part of the game we
played horribly and we ended up tying. On Saturday we played only one game and we lost again.
On Sunday we had our last game of the tourney at 8:00 in the morning and we played the junior
St. Louis blues and this game we played really well but it ended up not even mattering in the
tourney. That game I had the game winning goal and it was sick. On the car ride home I just
slept most of the way and when I got home I shot pucks for a while and watched the Minnesota

good.

a breakout, dump and chase drill. After practice we had a meeting about body language and how it

What Is The Tone Of 12 Angry Men
12 Angry Men Post Film Reflection Claim: The most powerful message that Reginald Rose
demonstrates in his play 12 Angry Men would be how tone matters to convey and nudge others
towards an opinion. Established Evidence: By the use of tone, it emphasizes of whom the
speaker is speaking to, engages important insights and show the true intentions of a person.
Evidence: For instance, Reginald Rose demonstrates the tone of juror 8 as this boy s been
kicked around all his life who had a pretty terrible sixteen years, (pg 13) who is this ideal,
respectful citizen who considers this boy s life as important as his and everyone else. He later
engages into the conversation to remind others to think what if they were in the boy s shoes instead

Why There Should Be Banned Catcher In The Rye
1. Historically, for what reasons have people objected to this book?
Many school administration have banned books like Catcher and the Rye because of the contance
of the book. Some reason why Catcher and the Rye was banned of the vulgar language, sexual
scenes, things concerning moral issues (Times 1). But to be more specific, a town in Columbus,
Ohio banned the book from library and schools because it s anti white (Time 1). Also in the same
year the book was released in 1960 a teacher was fired for assigning this book in high schoolers.
2. Does the government have the right to tell you what s appropriate?
In my opinion the government does have a the right to tell us what s appropriate but the
government doesn t need to enforce it. For example, when the you go to the movies each movie
has to have a rating. In a movie theatre scenario a 14 year old kid wants to see a rated R movie he
or she needs to take an adult to show proof of constant. Personally I think it is up the parents or

that could allow other to view that has been previously block. On the other hand, if the school
administration decides to banned books that s is offensive because they are deciding what we can
and can t read throughout a school year. If schools are banning books because there inappropriate
and they want to shield the children, they aren t making prepared for the real world. In the real

Gandhi: The Essence of Civil Disobedience A vocal minority should not be in control over an
oppressed majority. History has repeated itself in correcting bent ways of society, seen through the
Civil Rights Movement, the Confederates vs. the Union, slaves against slave owners, and India as
a country, as opposed to a British Colony. Henry David Thoreau s Civil Disobediencehad an
influence on most all modern acts of clearing corruption, including the works of the Mahatma,

Gandhi had achieved his goal to free India without riots, disruptions, or violence. Gandhi not only

`` The Yellow Wallpaper `` By Charlotte Perkins Gilman
John laughs at me, but one expects that in marriage.
Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote, John laughs at me, of course, but one expects that in marriage. In
her The Yellow Wallpaper men attempted to prevent women from achieving their intellectual and
creative potential by making women be their subordinates. The dreadful wallpaper that Gilman
came to hate in her story is a symbolic representation of her personal life were as she gets married
her role is limited to that of a domestic servant as her husband exercises authority over her. For
example, in some parts of the world today, some women under the institution of marriage are still
caged because they must accept control or instructions from men as a social expectation. Gilman
and Chopin in their short stories how the male dominated society used power to imprison,
oppresses, silences, and encourages submissiveness among married women. The freedom for a
woman to speak, think, act and contribute to decision making in her marriage contributes to the
fight for equality between men and women.
The short story The Yellow Wallpaperby Charlotte Perkins Gilman illustrates the struggle faced
by women who seek freedom from oppression. Gilman reveals in this short story how the
narrator feels oppressed by her husband despite her love for writing by stating, He hates to have
me write a word (218). This narrator is apparently feeling trapped in a marriage that does not allow
her freedom to do the thing she enjoys. The trapped woman

Privatization Of Municipal Solid Waste
The privatization of municipal solid waste is a process by which municipalities decide to contract
with private organizations for the collection and processing of societal waste. President and CEO
of Brolin Enterprises which provides contracting services for pipeline maintenance, tank services,
erosion control, vacs trucking, one call monitoring, right of way clearing, pig tracking, and
emergency response believes municipalities should be more open to privatization of collection
services (Begley 2011). Begley believes that communities have resisted privatization because solid

According to Worrell and Vesilind (2012) private serviceproviders will claim to have greater
efficiencies with less wastefulness, and more motivation for profit while public sector service
providers will claim it is more cost efficient because it is a non profit that does not pay taxes
(Worrell Vesilind 2012). Advocates of privatization such as Begley and Scott would argue that the
bureaucratic restriction of easily accessible resources required to effectively manage municipal
solid waste is a serious restriction which costs time and money. While proponents of public solid
waste management are concerned with the potential monopolization of these systems through
mergers and acquisitions which can stifle market competition (Worrell Vesilind 2012).
By using the situation of Carrollton, Texas in 2004 as an example we can clearly recognize that
solid waste management costs were reduced through privatization. According to Scott (2004) a
public sector department called Carrollton Solid Waste Division (CSW) lost a competition bid for
solid waste services because the department was not able to convince the committee members they
would be able to compete with productivity, experience, and customer service of private sector
service providers. Scott (2004) recognized that costs of service were to

Hacker And How We Can Defend Ourselves Against Them
The term hacker and how we can defend ourselves against them
In today s society, the term hacker is very well known across the world. It is scary to know that you
are being a victim of any individual who works with remote computers. People who use
unauthorized entries to other computers through communication networks such as the Internet, are
known as hacker. Since the technology has improved, all people should have information about
hackers and how we can protect our systems against them.
Where was this term born? The term hacker comes from an idea derived from a community of
computer programmers and systems designers, in the 1960s around the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology s, Tech Model Railroad Club and MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. A hacker is a
person who secretly gets access to a computer system in order to get information. They create
programs that are so complex, even the best programmers cannot conceive them. Many of the
hackers are probably between fourteen and eighteen years old. They earn a lot of money stealing
important information; also, they steal because they are paid for doing it; but, many people have
become their prey causing them emotional disturbances. They use many ways of stealing.
Since 1997, companies have received hacker attacks in their systems, making some lose a
significant amount of money. With this history attacks it is now important to find a method to
combat them. They work stealing our passwords, using the process

How Can Freedom Be Demanded
Freedom should be demanded, because not everyone listens when you ask for something, if
anything people would laugh at these people who want freedom and not take them seriously when
they do ask for freedom. If people take a stand and demand what they really want and show they
want it and fight for it there would be people standing up with that one person too, then there would
be an uprising on how people needfreedom and demand it even more. A great example would be
the the day Martin Luther King Jr. took a stand and said his word on how there needs to be
freedom and how it must be demanded in order for us to get it, the day the pastor took a stand
and demanded freedom for his people (blacks) and as he kept saying his word and talking about
freedom for the blacks more and more people agreed with him and took a stand. It is a great
example of how freedom should be demanded and not given.
The reason people would laugh at the people asking for freedom and not take them seriously is
because these people would be in a higher class than others and laugh at the people who want the
same amount as the these people, they think that they are better than any one of of these people.

Convergent Evolution Of Human Evolution
A surprisingly recent instance of human evolution has been detected among the peoples of East
Africa. It is the ability to digest milk in adulthood, conferred by genetic changes that occurred as
recently as 3,000 years ago, a team of geneticists has found. The finding is a striking example of a
cultural practice the raising of dairy cattle feeding back into the human genome. It also seems to be
one of the first instances of convergent human evolutionto be documented at the genetic level.
Convergent evolution refers to two or more populations acquiring the same trait independently.
Throughout most of human history, the ability to digest lactose, the principal sugar of milk, has
been switched off after weaning because the lactase enzyme that breaks the sugar apart is no
longer needed. But when cattle were first domesticated 9,000 years ago and people later started to
consume their milk as well as their meat, natural selection would have favored anyone with a
mutation that kept the lactase gene switched on.
Such a mutation is known to have arisen among an early cattle raising people, the Funnel Beaker
culture, which flourished 5,000 to 6,000 years ago in north central Europe. People with a
persistently active lactase gene have no problem digesting milk and are said to be lactose tolerant.
Almost all Dutch people and 99 percent of Swedes are lactose tolerant, but the mutation becomes
progressively less common in Europeans who live at increasing distances from the ancient

The colonists of the Chesapeake Bay region, on the other hand, led harder lives compared to that of
the colonists of New England. The Chesapeake Bay had an unhealthy environment, bad eating diets,
and intolerable labor.
The colonists had different reasons for settling in these two distinct regions. The New England
region was a more religiously strict yet diverse area compared to that of the Chesapeake Bay.
The development of religion in the two regions came from separate roots. After Henry VIII and
the Roman Catholic Church broke away from each other, a new group of English reformers was
created called the Puritans. The Puritans came from protestant backgrounds, after being
influenced by Calvinistic ideas. When their reforms were thwarted by King James I of England,
they fled to the New World in what is now known as the Great Migration . The Puritans were
then joined by Quakers, Protestants, and Catholics in the religiously diverse New England area.
These diverse religious factions were allowed to live freely but under the laws of New England.
It was due to this religious freedom that these people came to escape religious persecution back
home. The New Englanders had a religion based society and religion was based on family. As the
Bible highly regarded family, it condemned adultery. Adultery was considered a punishable crime.

Arthur Miller s Good Night, And Good Luck
A term coined in the 1950s, McCarthyism is the general act of making accusations of treason or
subversion without proper regard for evidence. Both Arthur Miller s The Crucible and George
Clooney s Good Night, and Good Luck explore the theme of McCarthyism through numerous ways
using conventions of their text types: respectively a play and a film. Each through characterisation
and symbolism, as well as individually through the plays title and narrative style, and the films
editing, camera techniques and sound track, the texts delve into the subject constructively through
their own unique methods.

between his fixed positioned fingers. His voice is a perfect imitation of the real Murrow s
hardened scowl with dry drone like delivery, expelling gravitas, courage and confidence as he

Murrow steals the attention of viewers from his era, especially when reciting his famous

through existing historic footage of him. This is accompanied by his gravelly and rather grating,
monotonous voice, of which becomes repetitive and intrusive as the news team periodically look

Study Of Reaction Parameters And Temperature And Mass...
The purpose of this study is to produce succinic acid from glycerol residue through anaerobic
fermentation process. The study of reaction parameters (pH, temperature and mass substrate) was
performed by using expert design software in glycerol recovery process. One factor at one time
(OFAT) method was performed as preliminary studies for selection of parameters range and
subsequently determine its optimum condition using response surface methodology (RSM). The
concentration of glyceroland succinic acid were determined using HPLC analysis. The FTIR
spectrometry was applied to examine the adsorption of organic element. Statistical optimization
(Respond Surface design Methodology) showed that optimal conditions were at pH, 2, temperature
35 0C and substrate 110.36 gram. At this optimum, 159.312 g/L was recovery of glycerol was
obtained. Succinic acid was produced via fermentationprocess by using Escherichia coli type k 12
under 19.67 g/L initial glycerol concentration, 200 rpm rotation speed and at temperature 37 0C.
The work resulted 0.66983 g/L succinic acid been produced. The study also investigated succinic
acid production from commercial glycerol and its resulted about 0.73337 g/L. Overall, this
research showed that the glycerol waste can be used as a carbon sources to produce succinic acid
via fermentationprocess by using Escherichia coli type k 12. From the fermentation process, the
succinic acid production does not exist as a major product. From this situation, the

The Importance Of The Patriot Act
After the attack on September 11, 2001, the United States implemented the Patriot Act. This new act
was signed by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001, and brought about many changes to
make the United States strong by making changes that would help guard against terrorism.
The Patriot Act was implemented right after the September 11 occurrence. This act revised the
electronic surveillance which allows the administration to eavesdrop on anyone. Although Patriot
Act was rejected before the September 11 incidence, the legislative body overturned their decision
by the Bush Administration. Although some members of the committee did not have a chance to

Patriot Act went into effect, surveillance was limited by the authorities (Surveillance Under the

surveillance statutes. When the Fourth Amendment and these statutes are viewed as a whole,
electronic and wire surveillance can be divided into four categories, each with a different level of

This can be done by taking the stairs instead of an elevator, taking a walk during a study break,
encouraging healthier options for a meal, or even asking a friend to come to the gym. Living a
healthy lifestyle can also prevent diseases that cause death. Ways to prevent heart disease would
be to encourage your elders to get outside and walk for at least thirty minutes a day while
maintaining a healthy diet. Going on the walk with them would relieve stress and encourage
bonding time as well. Even though cancer is not really preventable living a healthy lifestyle
such as not going in tanning beds, wearing sunscreen, watching what is in products applied to
your skin, etc. can all help prevent some cancers. Preventing a stroke can start by lowering blood
pressure, losing weight, and exercising. Encouraging family members and friends to get regular

The second types of inventory methods to value its inventory that CVS uses is the most common
one used for most business the First In, First Out (FIFO). First In, First Out (FIFO) is defined as
the first inventories bought are the first ones to be sold. CVS only uses FIFO for Some Retail
Pharmacy and Rest of Business (Front store). CVS utilizes this method because; the fresher
products have to be out the door first. Also, FIFO is an easier method than Weighted Average Cost.
And most importantly it may over inflate cost because the last products bought and out the door
first are usually the most expensive products.
Effective January 1, 2012, the Company changed its methods of accounting for prescription drug
inventories in the Retail Pharmacy Segment. Prior to 2012, the Company valued prescription drug
inventories at the lower of cost or market on a first in, first out ( FIFO ) basis in retail pharmacies
using the retail inventory method and in distribution centers using the FIFO cost method. (Annual
Report Archive)
Walgreens on the other hand only focuses on one inventory method. Walgreens uses the Last In,
First Out (LIFO) method for the entire business. In the LIFO method items bought last are sold
first, which also means that the items still in stock are the oldest ones. Walgreens focuses in the
method because it limits lower of cost or market approach, but not better than weighted average

Alopecia Disease
Abstracts
During my research on alopecia I examined journals, articles and web sources in order to receive a
better understanding of the disease, and the problems afflicted people have. To foster a greater
understanding of the illness I researched general information on the disease. Most importantly, the
problems people with alopecia face. After analysing these sources I came to the conclusion that
the most impactful effect of the disease on affected people is the psychological toll it causes. As a
result, I decided that a solution to this problem is to change society s views on hair loss.

Charles Town Dbq Questions And Answers
Charles Town DBQ Did you Know Charleston Used to be Called Charles Town? Settlers wanted
to settle in Charles Town, but it was difficult due to the environment and the people in it. So they
had to overcome them so the settlers could make a settlement. They overcome them by clearing
the land, fighting the Native Americans and growing crops. Settling is to, migrate and colonize.
Charles Town was difficult to settle because of the geography, resources and disease. One reason
why Charles Town was difficult to settle was the geography of the land. According to the map
of Charles Town in Document A, there was a lot of rivers this was good for transportation.
Rivers were bad for building and exploring. Some of the natural resources on the map are trees
and water. Problems the settlers faced while settling were the animals, weather and the Native
Americans. A lot of the animals and Native Americans were unfriendly in this area. The weather in
this area is rainy and that can be hard when you re trying to build a town. Those are all the reasons
why geography made it difficult.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the article in Document B and C, some resources made it difficult to settle but
others made it easy. The resources that made it difficult to settle was the location, ironstone in
the ground and sandy soil. The land was filled with large swamps, which means there is no place
to put a field or build a house. Some resources that made it easy to settle was the flat land, cleared
land from the Native Americans, pasturage, water and trees. Pasturage is soil that is good for
farming. Natural resources that were abundant was fertile soil. The resources did make it difficult
but they also made it easy for building homes and other things. All of these reasons are why the

Pro-D Synthesis Lab Report
Endogenous synthesis of vitamin D takes place in two steps. In first step the ultraviolet (UV B)
spectrum (wave length 290 360 nm) impinges on human skin and facilitates the conversion of 7
dehydrocholesterol present in the plasma membrane of the cells in upper skin layers, mainly in
the stratum basale and the stratum spinosum to pro vitamin D3. UV light B breaks the B ring of
7 dehydrocholesterol to form a pre D isomer26 27. In second step the Pro vitamin D3 which is
inherently unstable rapidly isomerizes to D3 in a thermo sensitive but non catalytic process.
With continued exposure of UV B, Pro D3 is converted to biologically inactive lumisterol .
Tachysterol is also formed but like pro D3 it does not accumulate with extended UV
radiations24,28. The formation of lumisterol and tachysterol is reversible and can be converted
back to pre D3 as pre D3 levels fall. Thus prolonged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other hand, vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 derived from supplements, fortified foods and fish
ingested from the diet are incorporated into chylomicrons and absorbed into the lymphatic system.
From here they enter the circulation, where they are bound to the DBP and lipoproteins29 30.
Since endogenously synthesized vitamin D3 provide a slower hepatic delivery of the vitamin D
and the more sustained increase in plasma 25 hydroxy cholecalciferol in contrast to orally
administered vitamin D which associates with chylomicrons and lipoproteins and allow receptor
mediated rapid hepatic delivery of vitamin D but less sustained increase in plasma 25
hydroxycalciferol. Therefore vitamin D3 produced in the skin last 2 3 times longer in the
circulation when compared with ingesting it

Analysis on a Modest Proposal
English Commentary Digression
A modest proposal by Jonathan Swift is a rhetoric piece that satirizes the dismal political, social and
economic conditions in 18th century Ireland. As a solution, the preposterous proposal suggests that
the Irish eat their own babies; as it is logically viable, and economically profitable: a condition
adhering to the rational mentality of the age of reason. Swift develops his argument on two levels:
A seemingly intellectual persona, caricaturized on a stereotypical upper class Englishman who
promotes cannibalism through the use of subtle euphemisms. And the other, as himself, cleverly
veiled in the caustic undertones of the pamphlet who is appalled at the plight of the Irish. Swift
uses this dual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trustworthiness of the persona is further questioned, as he justifies himself by Psalmanazar
(another authority), who is known to be a fraud.
The persona uses the form of a ceremonial speech to dress his proposal, disgracing the condition
of the Irish, in light of his visionary idea. The features of a speech as such would include strategic
procatalepsis [1] (some scrupulous people might be apt to censure such a practice, although very
unjustly indeed) adopted by the persona, to disillusion the reader into believing he has taken into
consideration all possible objections; reflective of him being both well researched and reasonable.
To an extent the sophistry[2] achieved in this extract through double negatives, It is not improbable
confuses the reader into agreement with the persona. This is further complemented by his tone of
matter of fact seriousness, veiling the actual absurdity of the proposal. On a literal level, these
persuasive tactics establish him as credible. However, Swift s deriding undertones expose them as
an obvious hoax to sway the audience.
It is at this point the audience realizes that the proposal is a satire, as the persona confidently refers
to then current events of known unreliability to assure his credence. Swift uses this irony to reveal
the persona as a sham, and hence awaken the audience to the reality, that the proposal is not meant
to be taken seriously.
The proposal

Law Enforcement Officer
Why is anyone considered a hero? Well one person who pops right into my mind is our law
enforcement officers. In fact, they are constantly looking fear in the face right here at our home.
As a matter of fact, the typical hero everyone thinks of is our service men and women, but think
about the men and women who you call when there s a robbery, or a disturbance, or someone is
slinging dope on the street. You don t call the national guard, or the marines you dial 911.
First, let s look at what a police officer must go through on a daily basis. Sure, some cops just
answer domestic disturbances, whereas Phil, a drunk and disorderly man, is throwing the handset
phone at his wife and threatening her life, who does she call? Not the military, no she ... Show more

In return, the gang may now send goons to take out the officer sitting in his patrol car, or send
them after his family. Meanwhile, police officers are recommended to not carry photos in their
wallets with them for these specific purposes. The job of a police officer is never easy. In return,
they should be shown the respect they deserve.
My final point I d like to make is all of the situations the officer goes through on the job causes a
lot of stress. The officer may bring these horrible moods home and argue with his or her spouse
or he or she may take it out on the kid. With the parent never home this neglects the kid from his
or her parent. The quality time that child is required is stripped of him, when a parent straps on
their utility belt and badge. Being a police officers has its ups and downs, many people s lives can
fall apart because of their career.
In conclusion, I believe all of these traits consequently, make a police officer a hero. They fight
crime, deals with sometimes unbearable amounts of stress, and ranking bears more vigorous
training. All of these traits make men and women of law enforcement, America s domestic heroes.
We should be grateful 911 is available for calling because who else is going to help you when

Judith Flanders Murder
The Invention of Murder by Judith Flanders is written from an objective point of view. Flanders
does not follow a specific narrative throughout the entire story, instead she focuses on a specific
aspect of the crime like the reaction of the newspapers or police. Flanders discusses each murder
in depth and some of society s reactions. Many of the reactions she discusses are from people
writing plays or novels based off an aspect of the crime. All of the information Flanders presents
is from research she has done. Since there is little narrative to follow, all of the information is just
research compiled about a certain crime. Flanders is a reliable narrator since she does not insert her

provide essential nutrition as well. This will last for the next three days. After the first three

Summer Is Hot On The Heels Of Spring
Summer is hot on the heels of Spring in spite of the roller coaster weather pattern some of us
seem to be in right now. Trust me, before we know it we ll be complaining about the scorching
heat and oppressive humidity and wishing we could have just a day or two of those milder
temperatures once in a while. Anyway, with summertime comes the decidedly American tradition
of cookingout. Cooking out is one of my favorite Summer activities. What a great way to kill
three birds with one stone. First and most obvious we all need to eat, even though some of us
(myself included) could stand to eat a little less. So why not cook out? I don t know about you, but
for me there s something almost magical about eating foodthat s been cooked on a charcoal grill. It
just seems to taste better. Maybe it s an association thing like turkey at Thanksgiving and
Christmas, ham at Easter, cake on your birthday, liquor on New Years Eve OK, maybe we
shouldn t go there. For my wife there s magic in the idea of her not having to cook. She s always
up for letting me do the cooking! Let s move on, shall we? Second, cooking out can help reduce
energy consumption. Think about it. If you re cooking outside you re not heating up the house with
the range and/or oven going while simultaneously running the air conditioner to cool the house
down. That should make Al Gore and the Inconvenient Truth crowd happy. On the other hand, they
probably wouldn t appreciate the idea of burning charcoal

The topic of international relations has been gaining significance in the modern world following the
increase in the popularity of globalization and the need for peaceful coexistence between nations.
The high rate of advancement of communication technology, complex global economy, faster means
of transport and an increase in value for cooperative relationships are vital to the global society

However, Russia refused to acknowledge the new leadership stating that it came into power through
unconstitutional means and armed insurrection. This was cited as the major excuse for Russia to
deploy troops in Crimea to protect the majority Russian residents from extreme right forces. The
two countries, Russia and Ukraine, had different reactions towards the armed violence and
impeachment of the Ukrainian president. Although the majority of the Ukrainians opposed Viktor s
decision to procrastinate the signing the EU Ukraine integration agreement, all the ex presidents
accused for its interference with the affairs of Crimean. The former presidents of Ukraine,
including Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma described the present crisis as Russia s political
interventions designed to interfere with the internal affairs of Ukraine and its relationship with the
European Union (Hanschke 1). The people of Crimea have not been seeking for secession from
Ukraine, but their interest is to have extended autonomy and rights to govern the Crimean affairs
with minimum involvement of the government of Ukraine. Russia, on the other hand, have
dismissed the accusation and stated that it is pursuing the interest of the people of Crimea to join
the Federation of Russia. Russia holds that the people of Crimea have the power to decide the
future of their territory and Russia will be ready to respect their decision. Study shows that about 90

Wolf Among Us Character Analysis
What separates a good story from a great one, are the characters themselves. A bland one
dimensional character will always hinder what could have otherwise been a great story. When it
comes to video games that s not necessarily a bad thing. After all, not all gaming experiences rely
on the plot, let alone characterization. However, when it comes to story heavy games like Assassin
s Creed and The Witcher, characterization is key. Sadly, the gaming industry has been criticized for
lacking complex characterization, especially when it comes to female characters. While this
complaint is valid, and it cannot be denied that there is a surplus of overly sexualized one

Becoming familiar with these men proved to be an asset in Eisenhower s military career. Before
the entrance of America into World War II, he found himself promoted to the rank of brigadier
general.
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, General George C. Marshall called him to Washington for a
war plans assignment. Eisenhower impressed both the general as well as The President (Theodore
Roosevelt) with his well thought out plan to focus on weakening Germany before assaulting the
Japanese. Because of this, he was placed in command of the Allied Forces landing in North Africa
in November 1942. On D Day, 1944, he was Supreme Commander of the troops invading France.
After heading many decisive victories for the U.S., Eisenhower accepted Germany s surrender on
May 7, 1945. He returned home a national hero.
Eisenhower s Term in Office (1952 1960)
After the war, he became President of Columbia University, then left to assume the first position of
supreme commander over the new NATO forces being assembled in 1951. In 1952, Eisenhower
resigned from the army to campaign in the presidential election that year. Both major parties
wanted him to represent them in the presidential race, but in the end, Eisenhower ran for president
as a Republican, favoring their conservative values. His prestige as commanding general of the
victorious forces in Europe during World War II, no doubt, helped him into office. Becoming the

  • 2. Explication Of The Lamb By William Blake Explication of The Lamb The Lamb is a short poem written by William Black, an english poet and writer who lived from 1757 to 1827, a lot of his works were written near the start of the romantic period. This movement focused on the expressions of human spirituality, with a focus on nature. He lived a simple life and worked as an illustrator and writer. The Lamb is a lyrics poem that contains two ten line stanzas. Each pair of lines rhymes with the correlating line and this persists throughout the poem. The Lamb s theme alone is to praise God for creating something so virtuous. The first stanza consists of Blake posing a question, which sets the tone for the entirety of the poem. It is easy to identify that the question is directly referring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the symbolism is used to describe the lamb itself as well as its sustenance. Another literary device is of course, the biblical allusion of the lamb and the Lord, as well as their relation. Blake honours Jesus specifically with the line, He became a little child (line 16) for the sacrifice he made for humanity by coming to earth. In addition, the lines, I a child and thou a lamb, we are called by his name (Lines 17 18) further expand on the religious theme of the poem. Through this it is implied that the speaker had been a child all along;which correlates with Blake s works in Songs of Innocence. Ultimately this is a surprisingly simple poem with a relatively deep underlying message. This format syncs up beautifully with the poems messages of a lamb s innocence and therefore a child s innocence. The style is also accentuated with the simple verbiage, the use of repetition, and the device of a child narrator. The larger theme comes into play still dealing with religion when the poem is aligned with its counterpart The Tyger, to question God s intentions behind him creating all of humanity including what is holy and virtuous, and what is vile and ... • 3. Edward The Vikings Achievements After Alfred the Great and his son successfully ruled England, many of the kings that followed them were not as successful. Eventually, under the rule of Ethelred, the Vikings took over England again. As the years progressed, and the Anglo Saxons lived together with the Vikings, they began to all began to think of themselves as English. This understanding meant no more Viking troubles, right? Well, not exactly. When Edward the Confessor ruled England, he had no sons. Because of this, several men wanted to inherit the throne. Harold, a nobleman from Wessex, gained support from many of those in power throughout England. William, the duke of Normandy (in France), thought that since he was a distant cousin of Edward the people should crown him the next English king. When Harold s boat shipwrecked on the coast of Normandy, William deviously welcomed Harold into his castle. He prepared a feast and afterwards made Harold promise he would give the throne to William.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In response, William sailed with his army across the English Channel and prepared for battle. After fighting the Danes, Harold heard of William s arrival. He immediately took his battle weary men down to the shores at Hastings. The English fought bravely, and it appeared they would win, but in the end, the Normans killed Harold. Abrahamic religions are those religions traced by their adherents to Abraham. All Abrahamic Religions are considered monotheistic, which is the belief in a single, universal, all encompassing God. Islam, Christianity, and Judaismbelieve that their sacred texts (or scriptures) are the Word of God. In Christianity the sacred text is the Bible, For Islam it is the Qur an, and for Judaism it is the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh. There exists the expectation of an individual who will herald the end of the world, and/or bring about the Kingdom of God on Earth. Judaism awaits the coming of the Jewish Messiah. Christianity awaits the Second Coming of Christ. Islam awaits the coming of Mahdi (Sunnis in his first incarnation, Shi as the return of Muhammad al Mahdi). The three religions encompass Gabriel as considered an archangel to Jews and Christian and according to Islam Gabriel is the angel who revealed the Qur an to Muhammad. The religions also adhere to a pilgrimage which is considered a spiritual long journey or search of great moral significance. Sometimes, it is a journey to a sacred place or shrine of importance to a person s beliefs and faith. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism involve themselves in pilgrimages. Judaism and Islam have strict dietary laws, with lawful food being called kosher in Judaism and Halaal in Islam. Christianity developed ritual prohibitions against the consumption of meat (but not fish) on Fridays, and the Christian calendars prescribe abstinence from some foods at various times of the year; but these customs vary from place to place and changed over time. In all cultures, human beings make a lifestyle out of interacting with and pledging their devotion to what are thought to be spiritual powers. Humans connect themselves with these spiritual powers which give their lives purpose and meaning. Religion is simply used to guide its followers through this complicated and diverse realm of human experience. According to the American Heritage Dictionary, religion is, the belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. In ... They are simply taught that the concept of betrayal is acceptable throughout the course of their lifetime. Many novels, movies, and tv shows focus on the concept of betrayal because it adds depth and drama to the plot. William Faulknermanipulates this idea in his fictional novelAs I Lay Dying by using different perspectives of characters to display acts of betrayal and the outcomes that they develop. Dewey Dell, the daughter of Anse and Addie Bundren, double crosses multiple people throughout the novel, including her own father and brothers Darl and Vardaman. When Dewey Dell goes to get her medicine from MacGowan, she left Vardaman alone, I looked out the door, but there wasn t nobody but a boy in overalls sitting on the curb (Faulkner 248). In response to this MacGowan asks Vardaman if he wants anything, but he gets no reply in return, then he locks the door and turns off the lights to continue on with Dewey Dell. The Signalman by Charles Dickens, The Adventure of the Speckled Band by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman People have written short stories for hundreds of years; however it was not until the 19th century that they really became popular. Short stories were the ideal form for writers who wanted to earn some immediate money and reach a wide audience. As more people were given the chance of receiving basic education, literacy rates improved and more were able to enjoy reading. As the technology improved printing became cheaper meaning that more people could afford to buy and read cheap magazines. It shows how the relationship between an oppressive husband and his submissive wife pushes her from depression into insanity. At first she does not like the room and its horrid wallpaper but soon she becomes intrigued by its patterns and what lurks behind them. The third story The Adventure of the Speckled Band is a typical murder mystery story. Sherlock Holmes is presented with a baffling set of circumstances from which he deduces the facts and reveals the villain. All three stories are common in that they are written in the first person singular. This has the effect of engaging the reader and making him feel part of the unfolding tale. Conan Doyle uses this technique in writing The Speckled Band . His story revolves around the character of the detective, Sherlock Holmes, however it is told as seen through the eyes of his companion, Dr Watson, providing a good example of writing in the first person. The Signalman is told in first person narrative; which makes the story extremely personal, meaning that the reader becomes more involved in the story and it feels like it is actually happening at the same time as you read it. Charles Dickens also uses dialogue to reveal the account of the haunting and I believe he does this to make it even more personal still. The Yellow Wallpaper is written almost in a diary form. Reading it you feel as if you are in the woman s head as she makes notes in her journal. All three are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Bad Things About Cars Research Paper Technology is always changing, some people would say it s a good thing. Their other people who like having their life on a repeat ordinarily would think to change it s a bad thing. One thing that is always changing is cars. From what I heard growing up cars are a need for people, nor more a want because people need cars for transportation. Even in the book Business Driven Technology said that cars a good. The only way to get rid of the car is if someone invents teleportation. When someone is looking for a car they see how safe it is like as if the airbag or the brakes still work. There other people who look for how fast the car goes nevertheless, how many miles do the car have. Another word for this is sustaining technology. This means improving product like cars where people are eager to buy a fast car. Many people like myself who are always driving would want to know how much does car safely in gas. In the article from The Verge written by the staff of Verge explain that many car companies are going autonomous car. He wanted to explore microscopic effects of the relativity in molecular levels which meant to find out the difference of interactions within a molecule with or without relativistic considerations. Moreover, when problems arising from computing the interaction between objects, even only considering Newtonian effects, mathematics was not that powerful, which could not derive a precise solution for a three body problem. • 10. Great Expectations And Oliver Twist Analysis People tend naively see orphans and those without caring families as hopeless and loveless creatures. However, the goodness of strangers can easily prove these thoughts nonsensical as people can provide an abundance of support and love to those with no blood relation to them and can embrace strangers as family. In Charles Dickenstwo novels Great Expectationsand Oliver Twist, Dickens challenges the typical idea of parentage and suggests the through love and generosity anyone can become a guardian or mentor figure. Therefore, people should not place as much faith in blood relations and look to others for sources of guidance and compassion. Although bloodlines seemed to dictate who raised whom in the 1830s, children could find guidance through those closest to them regardless of their non familial relationship. In Oliver Twist, Dickens provides numerous figures to guide poor Oliver, none of which are related to him by blood, excepting Rose. After falling ill and denounced as a thief, Mr. Brownlow and the housekeeper bestow great kindness and tender care upon Oliver and nurture him as though he was their child: I have never forgotten them or his quiet smile, but have seen them every day, side by side with those of my own children (388). • 11. Similarities Between Confucianism And Buddhism There are a number of similarities between the eastern religions and philosophies of Confucianism, Buddhism and Hinduism. While Hinduism is centered around a supreme being, Buddhism and Confucianism are centered around the teachings of a man. Each encourages moral behavior, ethical values, such as non violence, charity, and a respect for the universe. To better understand the philosophical similarities and differences between Confucianism, Buddhismand Hinduism, it is important first to consider the teachings of Buddha, Patanjali and Confucius in their historical context. Buddhism is a tradition that evolved from the original teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha or Enlightened One. Buddha was born a Hindu in about 563 B.C.E. He was of aristocratic birth and grew up in relative luxury and the security of the ruling class of that period. At age twenty nine, he tired of his comfortable existence and renounced the world and went in search of wisdom. Tradition states that he attained enlightenment on a full moon day in May under a fig tree. According to Buddha s teachings, the purpose of life is to end suffering and develop compassion for all living things without discrimination. He taught that meditation must be used to move beyond selfish concerns and desires. Only by quieting the mind can people connect with the power of the larger universe and reach a state of enlightenment and peace. Buddha s teaching, or dharma, begins with the Four Noble Truths. • 16. Symptoms And Treatment Of A Migraine Sufferer Each year over twenty six million people nation wide are affected by migraines. Once thought to be a concentration of evil spirits in the brain, common cures consisted of everything from drilling holes in the skull, to inserting garlic cloves into the temples. Today however, scientists realize that this all too common occurrence is actually a neurological disorder, which can result in the disability of its victim for hours or even days. I myself have been a constant sufferer of migraines since the age of twelve. The following is the life of a migrainesufferer: myself. I am a 16 year old that has had migraines for almost 5 years, and in the last year my migraines have exponentially increased to the point where I am unable to do anything. I end up in hospital once a month and treatment only helps for a certain amount of time. During a migraine, you feel an unreasonable amount of pressure in your head, and then a throb hits you on the sides of the head so hard that your head bobs to the other side. There s no way that came from inside your head, you think. That s no hypothetical crisis. God just punched you in the face. My parents believed that the most appropriate place to begin is a brief look into my and my family s medical background. Since the age of twelve I have constantly been struck with migraines, occurring more and more frequently as I age. Migraines can strike children as well as adults, however; typically the migraines become less frequent after early adulthood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The final buzzer sound that communicates to each act to perform simultaneously, debuts two shots edited together that alternates between each performing country, similar to a conversation. Each country is at each other s necks, communicated and intensified by the shot/reverse shot of which country is truly performing the saddest music. Nonetheless, Soviet montage editing does triumph, as the music during these scenes correlates with the editing of the image, revealing the rhythmic aspect of it. Furthermore, it s also evident that the making of entertainment based on the pain of others feeds into the capitalist society. The artful composition between opponents exploits misery for money. The increased sale of beer as the audience enjoys each sad performance, further supports this theory, which is seen through the cuts between the performers, the audience and the trickling coins after the purchase of beer. How Can Freedom Be Demanded Freedom should be demanded, because not everyone listens when you ask for something, if anything people would laugh at these people who want freedom and not take them seriously when they do ask for freedom. If people take a stand and demand what they really want and show they want it and fight for it there would be people standing up with that one person too, then there would be an uprising on how people needfreedom and demand it even more. It is the ability to digest milk in adulthood, conferred by genetic changes that occurred as recently as 3,000 years ago, a team of geneticists has found. The finding is a striking example of a cultural practice the raising of dairy cattle feeding back into the human genome. It also seems to be one of the first instances of convergent human evolutionto be documented at the genetic level. Convergent evolution refers to two or more populations acquiring the same trait independently. Throughout most of human history, the ability to digest lactose, the principal sugar of milk, has been switched off after weaning because the lactase enzyme that breaks the sugar apart is no longer needed. But when cattle were first domesticated 9,000 years ago and people later started to consume their milk as well as their meat, natural selection would have favored anyone with a mutation that kept the lactase gene switched on. Such a mutation is known to have arisen among an early cattle raising people, the Funnel Beaker culture, which flourished 5,000 to 6,000 years ago in north central Europe. People with a persistently active lactase gene have no problem digesting milk and are said to be lactose tolerant. When class first begun, we talked about life expectancy and how the average life expectancy is seventy seven years old which I thought was low because I know many people with grandparents who are older including mine. Ways to prevent heart disease would be to encourage your elders to get outside and walk for at least thirty minutes a day while maintaining a healthy diet. Going on the walk with them would relieve stress and encourage bonding time as well. Even though cancer is not really preventable living a healthy lifestyle such as not going in tanning beds, wearing sunscreen, watching what is in products applied to your skin, etc. can all help prevent some cancers. Preventing a stroke can start by lowering blood pressure, losing weight, and exercising. Encouraging family members and friends to get regular check ups with their doctors can be beneficial for everyone. Mental Health disorders can be alleviated by talking to a professional and having good relationships with family and friends. If people do not have good relationships with family and friends this can be a huge factor with mental illness. • 45. Pro-D Synthesis Lab Report Endogenous synthesis of vitamin D takes place in two steps. In first step the ultraviolet (UV B) spectrum (wave length 290 360 nm) impinges on human skin and facilitates the conversion of 7 dehydrocholesterol present in the plasma membrane of the cells in upper skin layers, mainly in the stratum basale and the stratum spinosum to pro vitamin D3. UV light B breaks the B ring of 7 dehydrocholesterol to form a pre D isomer26 27. In second step the Pro vitamin D3 which is inherently unstable rapidly isomerizes to D3 in a thermo sensitive but non catalytic process. With continued exposure of UV B, Pro D3 is converted to biologically inactive lumisterol . Tachysterol is also formed but like pro D3 it does not accumulate with extended UV radiations24,28. The formation of lumisterol and tachysterol is reversible and can be converted back to pre D3 as pre D3 levels fall. Thus prolonged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. Analysis on a Modest Proposal English Commentary Digression A modest proposal by Jonathan Swift is a rhetoric piece that satirizes the dismal political, social and economic conditions in 18th century Ireland. As a solution, the preposterous proposal suggests that the Irish eat their own babies; as it is logically viable, and economically profitable: a condition adhering to the rational mentality of the age of reason. Swift develops his argument on two levels: A seemingly intellectual persona, caricaturized on a stereotypical upper class Englishman who promotes cannibalism through the use of subtle euphemisms. And the other, as himself, cleverly veiled in the caustic undertones of the pamphlet who is appalled at the plight of the Irish. Swift uses this dual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trustworthiness of the persona is further questioned, as he justifies himself by Psalmanazar (another authority), who is known to be a fraud. The persona uses the form of a ceremonial speech to dress his proposal, disgracing the condition of the Irish, in light of his visionary idea. The features of a speech as such would include strategic procatalepsis [1] (some scrupulous people might be apt to censure such a practice, although very unjustly indeed) adopted by the persona, to disillusion the reader into believing he has taken into consideration all possible objections; reflective of him being both well researched and reasonable. To an extent the sophistry[2] achieved in this extract through double negatives, It is not improbable confuses the reader into agreement with the persona. This is further complemented by his tone of matter of fact seriousness, veiling the actual absurdity of the proposal. On a literal level, these persuasive tactics establish him as credible. However, Swift s deriding undertones expose them as an obvious hoax to sway the audience. It is at this point the audience realizes that the proposal is a satire, as the persona confidently refers to then current events of known unreliability to assure his credence.
