Belle Boyd Father
During the Civil war era women still did not have the same rights as men. Men were known to
be the dominant figure in society. Men went to work, men contributed towards the war and men
had complete control over anything including the women. All women were allowed to do during
this time period is to stay at home and be the Stay at home mom . But soon men were tired of
war and women knew this is when they could take their chance to be out and about. One of the
most famous lady spies is known by Isabelle Boyd or for short. Belle gave herself her nickname
just to shorten her name during school. Belle Boyd s life played out like a James Bond character:
she was betrayed by a lover, later captured taking Confederate papers to England, and fell in love
with and married her captor. Belle was a white Confederate spy that is from Martinsburg Virginia
in which the war was strong and men were tired of it. She must have been very outgoing and
courageous to want to join the war and most likely be killed. She was born May 9th 1844 and died
on June 11th 1900. The average age for the civil war era was 20 for spies and 49 for an average
person. So as a spy she greatly surpassed her life expectancy at the age of 56. Belle doesn t have
much info about her besides she went to college in Baltimore and that she finished high school at
the age of 12. The college was Mount Washington FemaleCollege of Baltimore, but the funny...

Creating A Sustainable Terrestrial Ecosystem Within A...
Mesocosm Lab
Exploration
Research Question:
With the plants chosen, is it possible to create a sustainable terrestrial ecosystem within a sealed
glass jar?
Background Information
The purpose of this experiment is to become familiar with how an ecosystem works, and discover
the most sustainable kind of ecosystem. Based on knowing how an ecosystem works, predictions
have been made that state if a terrestrial mesocosm is sealed for four weeks with plants inside, it
can continue to live and thrive sealed from the outside environment because the plants will gain
their moisture from the humidity left in the sealed jar. The plants will use photosynthesis and carbon
dioxide in order to transform the carbon dioxide into oxygen and water.
A mesocosm is any outdoors experimental system that examines the natural environment that is
brought under controlled conditions. It is used to model a larger ecosystem. (Oxford Journals)
Mesocosms help scientists as they allow a more accurate prediction of previously unpredictable
events. (What is a Mesocosm) Mesocosms give scientists the opportunity to investigate the reaction
of organisms to environmental change and have been used in experimental ecology since the early
20th century. They have been used for almost over a 100 years, but just recently became significant
as a way of investigating certain ecological ideas. Mesocosms became more significant due to the
study of climate change, since the late 90s. Through mesocosms, scientists are

Six Stages Of Denialing In Hills Like White Elephants By...
In Hills like white elephants we identify six stages of human grief regarding to dying, and loss:
denial; isolation; anger; bargaining; depression and finally acceptance. Hemingway apparently
innate understanding and dramatization, of these stages of grief.
The first thing that comes to mind during the stages of Hill Like White Elephants was denial. There
are many significant ways that denial has been portrayed throughout the novel. When we go
further into details about the title of the story is explains it all of what we are expecting HIlls .
The first thought before I began to read the story was the title I began to realize that this story
will have moments it ups, and down. Those ups and downs lead into a problematic figure of
denial between the main antagonist Jig. While reading Novel from start to finish Jig has been
denied from the reality of life. I have come to a conclusion of this when secondly, the American
as came has an attachment to her life as her husband. Noticing further into her life I have seen a
lot of negatives, mostly because The American summarizes their relationship together. In the
book the girl looks off the hills of a line of hills and describes how they look like white elephants.
In page 182 she says I ve never seen one, the man drinks his beer. This show the grief of tension and
denial, but also an interpretation of a baby coming to life, especially from the man when he drinks
the beer. This shows denial of what he is expecting that will

Beethoven Symphony 9
I choose Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, Choral : IV. Ode to Joy composed Beethoven. I
have no specific reason why I picked this song, besides the fact that I admired Beethoven when I
was young. When I listened to the piece the first time I was surprised by its dynamics. In my head
I have this preconceived idea that classical musicwas soft. I did a little research on the classical era
and discovered; that music was an important part of society at the time and Beethoven was one of
the top composers at the time. I was also informed that the all classical musicwas dynamic, the song
could be quiet one minute then loud the next. In the beginning of SymphonyNo. 9 in D Minor, Op.

Libertarianism Vs Classical Liberalism
Classical Liberalism is an ideology with its focus on individual liberty with a limited government.
The belief that an individual should have the freedom to pursue and be responsible for their own
life. It stems from an idea that humans, as a whole, are generally good in nature, and that people
should have rights apart from the government. These rights include the right to pursue happiness,
the right to financial success, or even failure, and the right to free speech and freedom of religion.
Individuals have equal opportunities in life, but not equal materialistic beginnings or gains. You
had the right to own land, but it was up to the individual to obtain it. Classical Libertarians thought
the role of government should be very limited,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basic concept that the individual has the right to liberty is still there. However the role of
government has changed. The modern Liberal feels that the purpose of government not only to
protect individual rights, but to also provide social welfare, benefiting society as a whole,
(Downes, yaliberty.org). This would include things like financial assistance, universal health care,
and free and equal education. Also todays Libertarian party supports the government enforcing
more rules and regulations to big corporations. The political platform of todays Liberal can seem
misleading to some. One example of this is individual abortion rights. Modern Libertarianism
supports the right of the individual to be able to make their own decision to have an abortion, the
government should not have a say in the matter. This shows support for the classical belief that
government should not play a big part in an individuals life. However, by contrast, todays Liberal
political platform also feels that the government should not perform executions even for convicted
serial killers, (Goodman ncpa.org). This directly goes against the classical view that the
governments role is to protect the individuals

When We Are Powerless To Protest By Elie Wiesel
There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time
we fall to protest , Elie Wiesel, a human rights activist. According to Dictionary.com, protesting
can be defined as, An expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in
opposition to something a person is powerless to prevent or avoid. Meaning that protesting
impacts on social changes, political views, civil, economics, and cultures lives in society.
Grievances, unity of ethnicities, and the way protesters have the power to express their human
rights are a few ways that have a positive outcome in protesting. Protesting has a positive impact

The human rights ensure to make man free. With the various types of injustices that are going on
in todays society it has felt like the rights of a human being has been taken away. The various types
of injustices of our human rights are; racial discrimination, freedom of speech, right to life and
security of person. The government has shown us certain limitations to our human rights. For
instance, Hillary Clinton in the 2016 elections had the most popular vote, but that did not matter,
what mattered was the electoral vote making Donald trump win the election. Which is now
causing protesting around the world, due to people not have wanted Trump to win. Also, Trump
wants to hire federal agents to be imposing restrictions to those whom are undocumented and be
sent out of the United States. For example, if an undocumented person violates a minor incident,
like driving with a broken taillight, they can get sent out of the United States just for a minor
violation which is morally wrong and this issue is violating our human rights in a matter of racial
discrimination, right to life and security of people because those who are undocumented can not
even drive without feeling afraid to get stopped by federal agents. For this reason, every human has
the right to say what they desire to say in this society,

Neomed Case Study Summary
Marc Umeno, Stan Majewski and Harry Bishop were the original founders of NEOMed. The
founders designed a new product for the medical market. Although, they determined multiple uses
for the technology were possible, such as, screening drug candidates, drug delivery applications,
detecting cancer, and possibly applied to Homeland Defense for detection of nuclear weapons.
The primary focus was decided to be used to identify and catch coronary artery disease (CAD)
before it happens. Marc Umeno developed the initial concept for NEOMed during graduate school
at Case Western University, with help from several others in the beginning process; Marc conducted
preliminary research and evaluated the market for the technology. NEOMed was officially... Show

strong competitor they brought in experts to help with the managements plans, financial plans
and business plans, they set realistic goals and had a strong purpose however they do not seem
able to adapt to recent changes in the lagging economy and lack of investors. In my opinion, a
strong marketing person may have been helpful, although NEOMed s board consisted of many
well educated individuals that specialized in science, medical, financial and management none
focused solely on marketing. There was not a lot they did not cover, they understood what they
needed and had a well thought out plan to produce it, they developed partnerships, as well as,
produced market research, accuracy of procedures, projected timelines but in the end could not put
it all together. Even though, much of the funding issues could not have been foreseen, I feel
NEOMed may have had an easier time finding funding if they would have went the route of
Homeland Defense because of the current market in the 2002. As callous as it may sound it would

The Future of Customer Experience And Customer Service By BlackBerry
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TQtrXyeIhY amp;feature=share
I have chosen a video released by BlackBerry recently, as my case study for this assignment.
This case study makes us aware of the potential future of customer experience management with the
advances in technology.
Customer experience (CX) is the sum of all experiences a customer has with a supplier of goods or
services, over the duration of their relationship with that supplier. From awareness, discovery,
attraction, interaction, purchase, use, cultivation and advocacy. It can also be used to mean an
individual experience over one transaction; the distinction is usually clear ... Show more content on

There are hundreds of examples, with more coming every day.
The point is these increasing levels of digitally driven personalization allow customers to choose
what they consume, from whom, and how they interact with and consume it. These digital
experiences are training smart customers to expect everything, from every company product,
services, experiences, and more to be customized in a similar manner. When it comes to innovative
customer experience, this all leads to one word: personalization.
One Size Fits All Simply Doesn t Fly Anymore. And It Doesn t Have To. No company can afford
to or needs to deliver a fully customized ideal experience to each individual customer across the
range of digital, human, and static touchpoints and interactions.
The fact is, some customers are simply worth more than others, and it takes a great deal of
intelligence for companies to figure out what the right experiences are for any given group of
customers, much less how to personalize them.
The good news is, smart touchpoints and the data they can produce, combined with the ability to
analyze the digital breadcrumbs and data that surrounds almost every customer, means that any firm
of any size has the tools for intelligent personalization at hand.
Starting with what can be the biggest step, a firm needs to be willing to adjust its offerings to the
needs of individual customers based on an understanding of what those individual

The Events Of The Holocaust
Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies of morality in the modern world were those acts committed
by Hitler s regime in WWII. Wherein, several million people lost their lives, homes, careers, and
rights. The largest of these people were the Jewish, but also people that Hitler deemed as
subversives homosexuals, disabled, etc. In the holocaustthese people were systematically oppressed
through a degradation of rights; murdered in gruesome methods; and enslaved for the duration of
the war. It is of the utmost importance that we do not forget about this great tragedy. It is my hope
that we can all remember those lost and learn the lessons of morality the holocaust taught us.
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of the Holocaust was the leading events to the final
imprisonment and extermination. These events allowed the German people to dehumanize Jewsand
subversives too such a point that they thought of them as nothing more than animals. This was a
complete degradation of rights and respect. It is not easy to sum these events up as it follows a
long timeline, however, there are a few critical events I will mention. At the end of WWI Germany
was fully blamed and owed a lot of money in reparation. This eventually bankrupted Germany
and caused a great amount of anger and hate to build. On Jan 30th, 1933 Hitler is appointed as
chancellor of Germany and all hell begins to break loose ( Holocaust Timeline ). The Jewish
people have many rights stripped away such as land

Changes in the Land Essay

William Cronon, Changes in the Land

Indians
1. How did the Indians occupy the land?
The northern Indians occupied the land much differently from those who lived in the south. The
land was drier in the north, and the soil not as fertile, so agriculture was not a main source of
subsistence. All Indians relied greatly on mobility throughout the seasons for survival. Those in
the south were able to stay in one place for longer however because of the fertility of the soil and
its ability to sustain agricultural needs. The women were mostly in charge of these needs, along
with starting fires, making mats for wigwams, and caring for children. The fires, which were also
more popular in the south, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However at first, many communities only produced a small margin of surplus beyond their own
needs.
2. How did their occupation influence the natural development of the landscape?
With the absence of the great Indian population following the spread of English old world diseases
through the fur trade, the landscape changed drastically. Ironically, the English jumped on the
opportunity to claim new land following each epidemic. Freed from the annual burnings, and soon
to be subject an entirely different agricultural regime, the land began to change. The regrowth of
forest claimed some land unuseful altogether and difficult to travel through. Without the fires,
strawberries and raspberries would not return in such abundance, the edge effect was gone, and as a
result, animal populations were in decline.
3. Did the European Colonists have a concept of land ownership? If so, what was it? What did it
mean to own the land for a European Colonist?
To define property is thus to represent boundaries between people, equally, it is to articulate at
least one set of conscious ecological boundaries between people and things. The property relation
is triadic: A owns B against C , where C represents all other individuals. Yes, European colonists
have a strong concept of land ownership. They believed that there exists two ways of owning land,
one natural, and one

In this painting, a young African American policeman is sitting on the hood of a white police

First, the artist, Kerry James Marshall, is of African American ethnicity. Modernism art is seen as
white, male dominated, and uninterested in minorities where as POMO switches to more feminist
and minority artists. Marshall uses the post modernist approach of identity politics through the
representation of an African American in a police uniform rather than drawing a Caucasian
officer. The artist also uses codes. This is displayed through the badge the officer is wearing. The
badge is an identifier; every officer wears one but each badge is specific to one officer. The badge
is symbolic of uniqueness and individuality which helps reinforce the artist s theme. The number
written on the badge is not easily determined in the portrait. The artist s description verbalizes the
reasoning for creating the portrait. Marshall states the portrait was a response to the many African
Americans killed by armed policemen throughout the United States. The previously stated is an
example of POMO because current events influenced the creation of the artwork. Several aspects
previously mentioned reinforce the theme of gender and racial

Comparing Goldilocks And Bill Cleaver s Where The Lilies...
The novel, Where the Lilies Bloom has a striking similarity to the tale of Goldilocks and the
Three Bears. When you take a look at Where the Lilies Bloom, by Vera and Bill Cleaver, the
comparison becomes eminent very quickly. Within the first couple of chapters, the characters
in Where the Lilies Bloom begin to resemble characters in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Kiser
Peace, an uneducated and superstitious man, takes the role of the bear in this story. Mary Call
Luther, an intelligent young girl who has become the head of the household after her father s
death, and Romey, Mary Call s 10 year old brother, start to both represent Goldilocks. Goldilocks
and the Three Bears is definitely comparable to Where the Lilies Bloom. This first quote can
make it easier to see how these two books coincide. Romey and Mary Call are outside of Kiser s
house when Romey says, It s not latched. You reckon it d be all right if we just went in (Cleaver
20)? If that s not enough later, Mary Call says, Let s just step inside a minute, Romey (Cleaver
21). In the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Goldilocks enters the bear s house without their
permission. This quote clearly depicts how related these books are. It is easy to see the
resemblance here but there is much more evidence to back this up.... Show more content on

The Pathophysiology Of Asthma

Howard Zinn Subjectivity
Subjectivity and Its Place in Historical Writings
Howard Zinn was an acclaimed historian and social rights activist, born in 1922. He has written
many well known books, including A People s History of the United States and A People s
History of American Empire. The reason that these books are so well known is because Zinn is a
very special kind of historian. Unlike other historians who might be more objective about history
and just give you the straight facts, Zinn is openly partial in his account of history giving readers a
more subjective view of these events. This causes his writing to have a bias, much greater than
what usually comes naturally in history, and portray history from the side of the oppressed. This

This right is given to citizens of the United States and humans across the globe by Article 19 of
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, written by the United Nations that govern our
world (United Nations, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 19). We deserve to
know facts and nothing but facts, and use these facts to develop our own opinions on the facts
presented to us. By Zinn taking a partial point of view, the omission of exculpatory evidence
about events in history is utilized to persuade the reader into falling under the same opinion about
an issue as he does (Stanford.edu, David Plotnikoff). By doing this, Zinn s credibility is being
flaunted as he might leave out information that could completely change the opinion of the reader.
However, it would be completely impractical to have a very large book with all of history written
upon thousands of pages, but it is obvious that Zinn left out some key facts. For example, Zinn
describes the indigenous people of North America to be unbelievably pleasant. He constantly makes
remarks about how unbelievably welcoming they were to Columbus and how they simply survived
blissfully without the need commerce instead just sharing what they owned (Zinn, People s History,
Page 1). While this may be somewhat true, he never came close to discussing the amount of
bloodshed between some indigenous tribes like the Iroquois and the savages that was described in
the writing of Champlain in which rival tribes would battle in close quarters combat. Combat that
caused many fatalities among both tribes (Champlain). Although this does not change the fact that
Columbus murdered many people in his conquests and that the Spaniards acted upon them like
wolves, tigers and lions which had been starving for many days, it still may change the opinion of
many about the indigenous population as a whole (La Casa). Another example of this omission

With rare sightings, and contrived evidence many people don t know the origin of these stories,
and many don t bother trying to figure it out. However, storytellers had a tendency to tell the
people what they wanted to hear. So they were quite happy to bend the truth to please their
audience if, for example, they thought the audience would pay more for a different ending! The
truth was sometimes the least important thing. (Myths and Legends) This proves that money and
wealth were and are, in today s world, more important than the truth and reality of stories. People
used to tell stories, because they saw and witnessed what happened, but over time people have
initiated how we tell things: switching out information to make the story better and less genuine.
Over decade and centuries, people have contrived evidence to prove the authenticity of mermaids
and other mythological creatures; and decade after decade, people have been caught for forgery
and artificial evidence. Therefore, many people only know what people tell them, but in order to
figure something out, sometimes all we need is our own

15th Century Rafts Research Paper
Remember: Stay in the raft! Louis, a medium built man reminded our tour group as his matted
mane swept across his chiseled face. The tour group consisted of my family of five (from a small
town in northwest Minnesota) who were up in southwest Idaho for a sun drenched summer family
vacation and an engaged couple who lived just a quarter tank away from the area. Although the
1,000 mile plus distance, we appeared to be part of the same familytree, all with our sweet latte hair
glistening in the sun. The branches especially extended when we had our picture taken in our black,
ridiculous wetsuits and our blaze orange helmets. Finally. It was finally time for us to venture this
water rushing obstacle.

Bumps and bruises emerged from these 15th century rafts (probably the same ones Christopher

extra luxuries. The Lays Sour Cream Onion chips, the 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, and the first aid kit
were stored in the waterproof compartments with netting (acting as a security blanket) to prevent
items from falling out just in case the raft tipped upside down. This rarely happens though, our
instructor frequently reminded us. The rafts will remain sturdy enough to ride across the jagged

sturdy structure was meant to keep our white water adventure as safe as possible.

Analysis of the Movie Inglorious Basterds by Quentin Taratino
As time goes on, history has a way of getting distorted from its most truthful form. Time causes
people to drift away from accuracy and become more interested in what they want to remember.
Hollywood has a reputation of creating films that cater more to the average viewer, rather than the
history buff. Inglorious Basterds, by Quentin Taratino, take very liberal liberty with a history
story, and creates a story that will sell to the crowd. This may seem dubious, but it is often not
such a bad thing. Hollywood can take a story that may have one connotation, may it be serious or
dreary, and turn it into something that evokes different emotions, will still addressing historical
issues or topics. Taratino chooses to film a movie of this type... Show more content on

Although Taratino skips accuracy to please the crowd, he does give the audience a more
realistic approach to the enemy. Throughout the movie, there is large sense of American pride,
but at the same time, there is a portrayal of the Nazi that many Americans have never seen before.
Inglorious Basterds starts with a scene in occupied France, with a local dairy farmer being
questioned by Hans Landa, an SD officer in charge of rounding up the remaining Jews in
France. This position has earned him the name of the Jew Hunter . Landa seems to be very
much enthralled by his job, and personally likes his nickname. Landa, without seemingly any
evidence, correctly assumes there are Jews hiding in the house. This is the first Nazi introduced
in the film, and it is quickly determined what he portrays. He is the Nazi that is cunning, yet
sadistic. He enjoys rounding up the Jews, and does it with charm and wit. Landa is the Nazi that
you would love, if only he was not a Nazi. Landa goes on in the film to be one of the main
characters, and the one that is constantly fighting with the Basterds. Unlike essentially any other
Nazi in the movie, he is the only one that really counters their resistance. So many films have
portrayed the Nazi as dimwitted compared to the Americans, but Inglorious Basterds gives the
Nazis a fighting chance, even making it seem as they are going to win. While the Basterds are

Hexane And Toluene Lab Report

Fractional Distillation of Hexane and Toluene
Aim/Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to separate and purify the liquid components of a
mixture with a known composition using a technique called fractional distillation. In order to do so,
a liquid mixture is separated into three fractions in the first distillation; then, one of the fractions
produced is redistilled to increase the purity of the liquid. Since two rounds of distillation occur, the
process is termed fractional distillation. Additionally, it is crucial for students to understand the
principles of gas chromatography so the purity and percent composition of each fraction can be
determined.
Theory: The basis for this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theoretical plates represent the stage in which two phases, such as the liquid and vapor phase of a
substance, establish equilibrium with one another. Thus, since the Hickman still has a short column
and a complete separation of hexane and toluene cannot be achieved in one cycle, there are two
theoretical plates in this experiment: one from the original distillation where three fractions are
recovered, and one from the redistillation of one of the fractions to produce more pure portions.
This experiment involves the separation of a solution containing hexane and toluene.
These compounds meet the criteria mentioned above since their boiling points are approximately
40В°C apart (hexane: 69В°C; toluene: 111В°C). During the first distillation, the liquid mixture is
separated into three fractions. These three fractions must be collected at the specific temperature
ranges shown below:
Desired Composition
Temperature Range
Mostly Hexane
60В° 70В°C
Equal Portions of Hexane and Toluene
75В° 85В°C
Mostly Toluene
85В° 105В°C
The phase diagram of hexane and toluene depicts the relationship between temperature and the
mole fraction of the mixture, revealing that as the mole fraction of hexane and toluene changes, the
boiling point of the mixture changes as well. It is important to note that at any given point, the mole
fraction of hexane and toluene must equal 1.0. The graph below displays the changes mentioned
above in regards to the phase diagram and the

The growing concerns and uncertainties over Joshua s leadership spiraled in Deuteronomy, and
God ordered Moses to encourage Joshua. The result is an abundance of inspiring texts that Joshua
surely needed (Angel, 2009):
Joshua son of Nun, who attends you, he shall enter it. Imbue him with strength, for he shall allot it
to Israel (Deuteronomy 1:38).
Give Joshua his instructions, and imbue him with strength and courage, for he shall go across at
the head of this people, and he shall allot to them the land that you may only see (Deuteronomy
3:28).
Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: Be strong and resolute, for it is
you who shall go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their fathers to give them,
and it is you who shall apportion it to them (Deuteronomy 31:7).
And He charged Joshua son of Nun: Be strong and resolute: for you shall bring the Israelites into
the land that I promised them on oath, and I will be with you (Deuteronomy 31:23).
These fears are carried over into the Book of Joshua. After Moses died, God encouraged Joshua to
be strong and resolute three times in four verses (Angel, 2009):
Be strong and resolute, for you shall apportion to this people the land that I swore to their fathers
to assign to them. But you must be very strong and resolute to observe faithfully all the Teaching

Harley Davidson s The Great Depression
Introduction Harley Davidson came to life in 1903, when William S. Harley and Arthur
Davidson produced the first Harley Davidson motorcycle in a little wooden barn in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. This was the start to what we know today as Harley Davidson Motorcycles. William
Davidson joined his brother Arthur and a friend in the business in 1907. In 1912 Harley Davidson
made their first sale overseas in Japan. Soon after moving into a larger building, they needed to
hire employees to support the making of the bikes.
Harley Davidson sent one third of their bikes overseas to help in the war efforts in 1917 and then
half of their production the following year. At this time, they became the largest motorcycle
factory in the world. They were even able to survive the Great Depression , while many of their
competitors had lost the battle. Indian motorcycles were Harley Davidson s only competitor to
survive the depression. Harley Davidson had been trying to gain advantage over Indian for quite
some time. They finally were able to gain the upper hand in 1936 with the launch of the
Knucklehead motorcycle.
Harley Davidson has made a name for themselves when it comes to making bikes to assist in the
wars. They went as far as stopping production of civilian bikes to focus on producing bikes for the
military. The company received the Army Navy E award for their commitment and excellence.

Causes Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution is also famous as US independence war or the Revolutionary War. The
disagreement arose from rising stress between inhabitants of Great Britain s 13 North American

вћў High medical costs have also made some insurance companies seek for offshore medical

Globalization is changing the healthcare sector rapidly and radically through the circulation of
medical goods and services. Therefore, the core of globalization is on basis of multilateral
agreements between nations. However the very nature of globalization and the agreements between
the developed country and developing and underdeveloped country means that the process benefits
the former while the latter often loses or gets a meager trickle down from the benefits. For example
in the case study it is established that due to the shortage of radiologists in America, radiologists are
often expensive and take home a large paycheck of approximately $400,000. Outsourcing to Indian
radiologists would not only reduce the workload of the American radiologists but also cut costs.
Cost cutting would be achieved through cheaper professional fees for the Indian radiologist who
gets approximately a tenth of what their American counterpart receives. This means that
globalization in this sense benefits the American population and professionals, while the Indians
lose. However, globalization could also benefit the developing or underdeveloped nation like India
through these practices. For example the earnings that the Indian radiologist gets, though minimal in

This essay is aimed to critically appraise the article about comparing the effect of glucosamine and
glucosamine with alendronate in symptomatic relieve of degenerative knee joint disease (Hamid
Reza Arti Mohammad Ebrahim Azemi, 2012, p. 87 92). The study talked about the Degenerative
Joint Disease (DJD) or osteoarthritis, which is the most common destructive jointdisease and causes
of chronic disability in human beings. Osteoarthritis is often caused by aging, frequent use of knee
joints or obesity. People with osteoarthritis are normally treated by glucosamine. On the other hand,
alendronate is used to treat osteoporosis. People with osteoporosis will have brittle or fragile bones
due to deficiency in calcium or vitamin D. As both osteoarthritis and osteoporosis have higher
chances of being found in elderly patients, it might not be an unusual thing for them to exist
together in the patient at the same time. Combining glucosamine and alendronate together in the
treatment may bring out unexpected therapeutic benefits. The objective of the study is to find out
the differences between the effects of glucosamine alone and combination between glucosamine
and alendronate administration in relieving knee degeneration. The study hypothesised that
combination of glucosamine and alendronate will be more effective in treating knee degeneration.
To test the efficacy of glucosamine, a double blind randomised controlled trial (RCT) was set up. A

Persuasive Essay On Sports And Politics
In recent years we as a country have seen a huge spike in instances where sports and politics
collide. Two examples would include the Anthem protests and the Hands up don t shoot entrance

back into the history of the United States you see many more examples of different varieties
throughout every sport. Most notably one of the greatest boxers of all time, Mohammed Ali,

Baseball is easily described as America s pastime. Personally, baseball is my favorite sport to

occurred in my home state of Massachusetts in Pittsfield in 1792. It was recorded because a law
was made banning the playing of a baseball game within eighty yards of the town meeting house.
It is important to note that the first mention of baseball in history was in reference to a political
matter. The game was played under modern day rules by upper middle class white men in the
1840 s by the New York Knickerbockers. In 1857, baseball officially was in full swing with sixteen
New York ball clubs joining the first ever chapter of the National Association of Baseball.

The Critique Of Kenneth Branagh s The Hamlet
In 1996, British actor and director, Kenneth Branagh took on the production of the film The
Hamlet. It is notable that Branagh took into consideration the play s intricate detail as he built
around the film. In his directing effort, he made both plausible and not so brilliant decisions too.
It is commendable to a given extent that Branagh maintained Shakespearean language throughout
the film. However, he did away with a significant part of the play s ambiguous quality by making
plain, mindful decisions on aspects such as setting, characterization and others in the film.
Branagh put it in the Napoleonic era rather than the Middle Ages according to Shakespeare s
original version. BRANAGH S DIRECTOR CONCEPT EMPLOYED STRATEGIES AIMED AT
CREATING A BLOWN UP DRAMATIC VISION OF HAMLET
. Several cinematic basics, such as
the film s melodic make, compliment Branagh s complex vision of the film and intrigue the

enchanting and witty. His choice to slightly modernize the setting creates a more pompous set plus

Claudius and as the Ghost narrates, a montage of the events plays. This montage gives the audience

English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton
English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without
wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that
renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and
hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which lovesits upon.
Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its
heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability,
compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion,
to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for.
Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be
lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual,
and permanent. It is true.
The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the
classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring
houses. The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of
the man s love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her. He states, She takes
your heart with the flash edge of her

Clarity Project Paper
The Auditing Standards Board has launched the Clarity Project (Lindberg Seifert, 2011) which is
an effort to make the U.S. Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (U.S. GAAS) easier to
comprehend in the eyes of non public businesses. The Clarity Project will result in the first
complete redrafting and recodification of U.S. GAAS since 1972 (Morris Thomas, 2011, para. 2).
Four of the most significant changes are: changing the format of the standards so they are more
consistent and readable, the wording in the auditor s report, group auditstandards, and the
authoritative status on the 10 generally accepted auditingstandards (Morris Thomas, 2011). The
Clarity Project also includes the process of integrating the U.S. GAAS with International Standards
on Auditing (ISA).
There are five key topics for comparison between ISA and U.S. Auditing Standards. The U.S.
Auditing Standards is broken up between two groups: Auditing Standards Boards (ASB) and
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). ASB is the authoritative group for non
public companies. PCAOB is the authoritative group for public companies. PCAOB was formed
from the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) (Lindberg Seifert, 2011). The five key topics to
compare ISA and US GAAS are: documentation of audit procedures, going concern considerations,
internal control over financial reporting, risk assessment, and use of another auditor. Let s discuss

children are taught to synthesise (i.e. put together or build up) pronunciations for unfamiliar

Diesel Engines And Vehicle Performance Metrics Essay
In the automotive world, efficiency and power are two elements of vehicle performance metrics
that while important to many consumers and critics alike, appear to be elusive when in
convolution with one another. In automotive history, good fuel efficiency equaled compromises in
power and performance and vehicles with large displacements and torque usually had worse gas
mileage. The exception to this rule were diesel engines, which managed to combine better
efficiency than many four cylinder gas engines while providing very high torque number for better
performance. The main drawback that diesel s faced was due to their stigma of being dirty, as they
emitted more greenhouse gases including nitrous and sulfur oxides. Coupled with the stricter
emissions that many states began to implement, primarily overseen by the EPA, it became harder
for car manufactures to certify diesel engines for emissions while maintaining high fuel economy
and power output figures. The emission control hardware and software in diesel vehicles also came
at a high price and with increased complexity, both unwelcoming additions for any car company
wanting to mainstream diesel s. VolkswagenAutomotive Group (VAG) pledged to change these
preconceived notions concerning power and efficiency with the debut of the clean diesel
technology in 2008 within select models. These vehicles had miraculously managed to decrease
emissions out of vehicles with diesel motors while not compromising on the power and

There are advantages and ways that a single physician medical practice can start a card payment
system. According to the research firm Javelin Strategy and Research. By the year 2017, twenty
three percent of all point of sale or counter sales will be made in cash ( Brooks, 2014). What this
means is that over seventy percent of counter sales or point of sale transactions will be made
electronically. It is, for this reason, prudent for all forms of business to ensure that they can evolve
with the market. If the business is unable to do so, it is likely to lose its edge over its competitors.
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, are the rules that regulate the way businesses
or organisations handle credit card information or data.
Creating a Secure Card Payment System
Reasons for setting up a card payment system
There are various advantages to a business setting up a secure payment system. The first advantage
is that the business is likely to have an increase in profitability. Research has shown that the card
payment systems whether by credit or debit cards increases the chances of a customer making
multiple purchases. This can be advantageous to the physician as the patient can make multiple
payments for future or past appointments at an instance. The other advantage of having a card
payment system is that when one uses a card to make payment the payment is guaranteed unlike
when you receive a personal check. When a patient uses a debit card the

Case Study Of Stieg Larsson s Lisbeth Salander
The best memory one could have even of one s own life is definitely his or her childhood. But
when the childhood goes wrong, our whole life is topsy turvy. The trauma experienced during
childhood pricks us day by day creating obsession and weakness thereby forming a barrier in our
overall personality development. Childhood trauma is more powerful that it can leave an
everlasting impression on our behaviour and personality. This paper makes a case study of Stieg
Larsson s Lisbeth Salander, a victim of childhood trauma and attempts to observe the change from
the normal behavioural pattern as an impact of the trauma experienced during her childhood.

The first and foremost effect of her trauma is reflected in her recalcitrant lifestyle. After releasing
from the psychiatric unit, Lisbeth was put under guardianship. By guardianship an individual
who is not capable of living independently and managing his or her own expenses is put under the
control of a responsible person who would inspect him/her from time to time, help in managing
fund and produce reports from time to time about the improvement of the individual. Lisbeth
Salander was put under the guardianship of an advocate Holger Palmgren, a nice man interested
in altruistic activities. He is the only positive inspiration in salander s life. He understood
Salander and tolerated all her eccentricities and violent behaviour like a father handling a
difficult teenager. She had joined a rock band named Evil fingers and started dressing herself like
a junkie belonging to some Satan cult. She got herself drunk, used drugs, had sexual intercourse
with whomever she like no matter male or female. She had a wayward Lifestyle and was usually
an outlaw. Holger Palmgren never attempted to advise her on her behaviour. Instead he talked to
one of his friends at Milton security Agency and got her a job of checking mails and making
coffee. He was liberal enough to allow Lisbeth Salander handle her own expenses. Suddenly one
fine day Lisbeth discovered him when having stroke on the apartment floor and had admitted him in
the hospital. When the doctors had no hope of his survival, Lisbeth unable to tolerate his upcoming
death deserted him in the hospital. After the stroke, her guardian was changed by the government.
She was handed over to a new guardian, Nils Bjurman. This man turned out to be anything but
goodness. Right from the first conversation she understood that their relationship is going to be
quite complicated.

The Miller s The Crucible Self Reputation
Reputations Matter More Than You Think Self reputation is an important part of keeping pride
and moralities in a person s life, but self absorption can eventually develop from an outstanding
care for reputation. Self absorption is a negative trait found in all people sometimes and it can
end up causing things to go very wrong for yourself and others. Once someone is purely focused
on keeping their reputation and worrying too much of what others think of them, they are
overwhelmed by the thought of hiding all mistakes and always making themselves feel superior
to others. Throughout Arthur Miller s The Crucible self reputation is a major motivation felt by
Abigail Williams and Reverend Parris, which results in Abby accusing innocent people of
witchcraft and Parris not helping his people in a time of need; leaving the town in complete
disorder and chaos. Abigail Williams is always making sure the people of Salem believe her act
of innocence and lying to keep her name white in the town. She wants everyone to think she
always tells the truth and is pure, so she will never get in trouble for the dreadful acts she does.
She secretly deceits others to keep them on her side and will make up any story to get the blame
off of her and on someone else. When Parris confronts Abigail about what the girls did the in
woods she says to him with assertion, Uncle, we did dance; let you tell them I confessed it and I ll
be whipped if I must be. But they re speaking of witchcraft. Betty s not

Christopher Columbus and Cabeza de Vaca were two known adventurers, one being an explorer

Cabeza de Vaca shows that he could not have retaliated or even injured them because they were

As Cabeza de Vaca continues, his encounters seemingly becomes harsher and he starts to relate
these outcomes to God. Cabeza de Vaca also relates the losses to not only the surprising attack of
the Indians and their camouflage within the surroundings but also to weaponry they used and
the way they used them, The bows they use are as thick as the arm, of eleven or twelve palms in

Reasons To Visit Venice Essay
The first time I visited Venice, it stole my heart. Recently, I was able to visit for the second time
and loved it even more.
Here are a few reasons to visit Venice, the city known as the Queen of the Adriatic:
1. To see the canals, including the Grand Canal and bridges. See both the majestic Grand Canal
with famous Rialto Bridge, as well as smaller canals in the more intimate residential neighborhoods,
to get a feel for this remarkable city.
2. For the atmosphere of beauty and romance. The architecture and grandeur of Veniceis striking,
and the city is picturesque at any time of day.
3. To wander the narrow streets and maybe feel a little lost in time. In a city with a long and
legendary past, it is easy to savor the history. Venice served as a center of commerce for... Show

The main sights, including St. Mark s Square, get crowded during the day. We experienced a
calmer Venice in the early morning and evening hours when the cruise ships weren t in port. We
were told that Venice is a city of about 60,000, with millions of visitors each year. Of course, many
tourist cities are packed with sightseers, so I just expect crowds.
Another complaint I ve heard focuses on the lovely canals themselves; the reality is that the water
can have an unpleasant smell. My visits have been during late October and mid June. In both
cases, I noticed it a couple of times, but it did not detract from my experience. There are
disagreeable smells in other big cities.
On my first visit to Venice about two years ago, I also thought at first that many buildings needed
some paint and repairs. The city can look a little rough around the edges. But that could be seen
as part of its charm. It is not perfectly polished. It is an ancient city, built improbably on 118 small
islands in a lagoon and sieged daily by sea tides.

their opinions on the destinations success in providing sensational experiences and whether or not
it corresponds to their initial view of the place they got from consulting images (Danijela KriЕѕman

based on impressions that are derived from a flood of information . Promotional items such as
adverts and brochures, opinions coming from family members, friends and travel agents, media
reports in newspapers, magazines, television news, and documentaries are all different floods of
information that contribute to the formation of a destinations image. According to Echtner and
Ritchie, the image one has of a destination based on first hand information as well as one s
experience can change after having visited the place (Charlotte M. Echtner, 2003). When going on
an experience that is related to tourism, generally customers tend to look for as much information as
possible, creating an image or mental prototype of that destination.

Analysis Of The Pearls On A String
Out of all the amazing things I saw in the Pearls on a String, the one that I found the most
interesting was Akbar and Abd al Rahim, from the Akabarmana (Book of Akabr, 1586 1589). It is
amazing to see how many different scenes can all occur in one piece. Overall, The Book of Akbar
had multiple outstanding pieces but the emotion in this particular page is what caught my attention.
Although I did not study the other pages as intensely as this one, it is clearto see that Abul Fazlt s
technique is spectacular throughout each and every page. This painting is historical, depicting a
young Abdul Rahim Khan I Khanabeing received by Akbar after his family was killed. A great
story is told throughout the entire book, although this particular image has more of an intensity to
it. This page functions as a devotional image in order to display the emotional trauma Abd al
Rahim must have felt having all that he knew dragged from under him. This occurrence after
royal bloodshed subsequently sets a mood for the piece. Some of the painting is hard to depict,
due to some men appearing respectful and embracing while others appeared with contempt. This
page is taller than wide with a beautiful background paper designs. The placement of the piece is
harmonious in every way possible. In paying attention to the placement more emphasis is put onto
the central area of the painting. The frame compliments the shape of the piece allowing it to bring
your focus back after the eyewanders around

The Pros and Cons of RussiaВґs Economy Essay
Russia s economy is very complex and also very terrible at the same time. Many other economy s
are also like this but Russia s is a very interesting thing to learn about. Russia s economy has many
things wrong with it that in the long run could probably affected it in a negative way. But it also
has many positive things about it.The negatives and the positives are, in my opinion, are equal in
Russiaeconomy. Lets start out with the good things that Russia s economy has. Russia has an more
than enough natural resources. They have plenty of timber, precious metals, oil, gas, and coal.
Those resources being exported could easily benefit their economy if it wasn t for other countries

Another reason that their economy won t fall is they still have a budget surplus which it s GDP
isn t very high. And one of the most important reasons is that Russia s unemployment rate is at one
of it s lowest in Soviet history. So, based on those facts it s safe to say that the Russian economy
isn t going to crash anytime soon.
Russia s economy has been becoming tight on public finances but they believe that it ll help their
economy. The reason they think it ll help their economy is because it help keep inflationunder
control. They are also trying to get interest rates cut down to a smaller amount which will also help
out the economy. The Russian government has been preparing for big unemployment rises due to
the monopolies. The monopolies are saying it ll help people find new jobs but it really won t
because now they ll be on the unemployment list and will be having the government paying them
until they find a new job. By having more people on the unemployment list it adds to the country s
debt.
Russia is already in debt and it couldn t really afford to be put into more. Russia s national debt
is around 6,709,506,270,191. Russia is so large that it makes sense that there national debt is so
high. In the U.S. our country isn t big at all compared to Russia and we are in 11 trillion dollars

Banning Performance-Enhancing Drugs By Athletes
Doping refers to the use of banned performance enhancing drugs by athletes. PEDs or performance

Since professional players engage in doping, many young athletes have also engaged in doping.
There has been a rise in teen doping cases in the pasts years; as Stephanie McPherson states that,
According to a national survey released in 2014, 11 percent of students in ninth through twelfth
grades admitted to having used synthetic HGH without a prescription (McPherson 79). These
young athletes want to reach the highest level of the pros, so they want to emulate in the doping
behavior because they believe that they must use performance enhancing drugs to succeed. Doping
also encourage young people to not engage in competitive sport. As Gerdes explains that, Anti
doping officials insist that performance enhancing drugs hurt not only the image of competitive
sports but the athletes as well (Gerdes 15). These athletes in the pros that engage in doping are just
very bad role models for the young athletes that are coming up. That is very bad for young athletes
because it has a negative impact on the image and the sport

A Writ Petition By People s Union For Civil Liberties Essay
A writ petition was filed by People s Union for Civil Liberties in the Apex Court on Right to
Food. The petition was filed when the food stocks in the country reached extraordinary levels on
the other hand the starvation in the areas which were affected by the drought was getting
magnified. The petition at first instance had Government of India, six State Governments and
Food Corporation of India were the respondent but later all the states were added since the
matter reached at that level where the hunger death became persistent in most of the states. Then
considering the graveness of the situation a PIL was filed, PUCL v. UOI and others, Writ
Petition (Civil) 196 of 2001. The fundamental argument in the petition was that the government
is failing to provide the adequate food in the drought situations even when there is a large
quantity of food stock in the cold storages and also there is negligence by the state since there is
complete collapse in the services provided by the PDS and also the relief fund is insufficient to
deal with the drought situation. The relief requested from the Supreme Court was a) that the
employment be provided in the drought affected villages, b) a relief should be given to the
people who are unable to work, c) the PDS should be made efficient in the areas, d) the families
should be provided with the subsidized food grains and the grains should be provided by the
Central Government. The arguments put forward by the NHRC in the proceedings over

Gun Safety At Home And Gun Control
Many people never think about the safeness of their child at home without a safe for their guns and
think that their child or other family members will get a hold of their guns to cause harms to others.
A better gun safety at home and gun control would prevent school shootings because many school
shootings could have been prevented with safety measures in the homes and in 2005 study shows
that 1.69 million of children under the age of 18 lived with loaded and unlocked firearms at home.
So, about 89 percent of unintentional shootings of children in homes are caused by children
playing with loaded guns without their parents present. Many parents at home never think about the
location of their guns and always think that putting a weaponsomewhere high will fix the problem
of their child getting a hold of the guns. Also, thinking that your child knows not to touch a
weapon can prevent an accident but that is not the case because nowadays guns are being shown
all around the world and in movies that cause children, wanting to be like them and act like them.
The problem of passing laws on guncontrol that would help prevent school shootings is that many
Congress don t have the courage to take that step, Senator wouldn t pass it and the House wouldn
t even consider it. Having a good safe for your guns at home will solve all problem with children
getting a hold of a gun and bring it to the school to cause harms to other and family members. Guns

  • 2. Belle Boyd Father During the Civil war era women still did not have the same rights as men. Men were known to be the dominant figure in society. Men went to work, men contributed towards the war and men had complete control over anything including the women. All women were allowed to do during this time period is to stay at home and be the Stay at home mom . But soon men were tired of war and women knew this is when they could take their chance to be out and about. One of the most famous lady spies is known by Isabelle Boyd or for short. Belle gave herself her nickname just to shorten her name during school. Belle Boyd s life played out like a James Bond character: she was betrayed by a lover, later captured taking Confederate papers to England, and fell in love with and married her captor. Belle was a white Confederate spy that is from Martinsburg Virginia in which the war was strong and men were tired of it. She must have been very outgoing and courageous to want to join the war and most likely be killed. She was born May 9th 1844 and died on June 11th 1900. The average age for the civil war era was 20 for spies and 49 for an average person. So as a spy she greatly surpassed her life expectancy at the age of 56. Belle doesn t have much info about her besides she went to college in Baltimore and that she finished high school at the age of 12. • 3. Creating A Sustainable Terrestrial Ecosystem Within A... Mesocosm Lab Exploration Research Question: With the plants chosen, is it possible to create a sustainable terrestrial ecosystem within a sealed glass jar? Background Information The purpose of this experiment is to become familiar with how an ecosystem works, and discover the most sustainable kind of ecosystem. Based on knowing how an ecosystem works, predictions have been made that state if a terrestrial mesocosm is sealed for four weeks with plants inside, it can continue to live and thrive sealed from the outside environment because the plants will gain their moisture from the humidity left in the sealed jar. The plants will use photosynthesis and carbon dioxide in order to transform the carbon dioxide into oxygen and water. A mesocosm is any outdoors experimental system that examines the natural environment that is brought under controlled conditions. It is used to model a larger ecosystem. (Oxford Journals) Mesocosms help scientists as they allow a more accurate prediction of previously unpredictable events. (What is a Mesocosm) Mesocosms give scientists the opportunity to investigate the reaction of organisms to environmental change and have been used in experimental ecology since the early 20th century. They have been used for almost over a 100 years, but just recently became significant as a way of investigating certain ecological ideas. Mesocosms became more significant due to the study of climate change, since the late 90s. Through mesocosms, scientists are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Six Stages Of Denialing In Hills Like White Elephants By... In Hills like white elephants we identify six stages of human grief regarding to dying, and loss: denial; isolation; anger; bargaining; depression and finally acceptance. Hemingway apparently innate understanding and dramatization, of these stages of grief. The first thing that comes to mind during the stages of Hill Like White Elephants was denial. There are many significant ways that denial has been portrayed throughout the novel. When we go further into details about the title of the story is explains it all of what we are expecting HIlls . The first thought before I began to read the story was the title I began to realize that this story will have moments it ups, and down. Those ups and downs lead into a problematic figure of denial between the main antagonist Jig. While reading Novel from start to finish Jig has been denied from the reality of life. I have come to a conclusion of this when secondly, the American as came has an attachment to her life as her husband. Noticing further into her life I have seen a lot of negatives, mostly because The American summarizes their relationship together. In the book the girl looks off the hills of a line of hills and describes how they look like white elephants. In page 182 she says I ve never seen one, the man drinks his beer. This show the grief of tension and denial, but also an interpretation of a baby coming to life, especially from the man when he drinks the beer. This shows denial of what he is expecting that will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Beethoven Symphony 9 I choose Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, Choral : IV. Ode to Joy composed Beethoven. I have no specific reason why I picked this song, besides the fact that I admired Beethoven when I was young. When I listened to the piece the first time I was surprised by its dynamics. In my head I have this preconceived idea that classical musicwas soft. I did a little research on the classical era and discovered; that music was an important part of society at the time and Beethoven was one of the top composers at the time. I was also informed that the all classical musicwas dynamic, the song could be quiet one minute then loud the next. In the beginning of SymphonyNo. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, Choral : IV. • 6. Libertarianism Vs Classical Liberalism Classical Liberalism is an ideology with its focus on individual liberty with a limited government. The belief that an individual should have the freedom to pursue and be responsible for their own life. It stems from an idea that humans, as a whole, are generally good in nature, and that people should have rights apart from the government. These rights include the right to pursue happiness, the right to financial success, or even failure, and the right to free speech and freedom of religion. Individuals have equal opportunities in life, but not equal materialistic beginnings or gains. You had the right to own land, but it was up to the individual to obtain it. Classical Libertarians thought the role of government should be very limited,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The basic concept that the individual has the right to liberty is still there. However the role of government has changed. The modern Liberal feels that the purpose of government not only to protect individual rights, but to also provide social welfare, benefiting society as a whole, (Downes, yaliberty.org). This would include things like financial assistance, universal health care, and free and equal education. Also todays Libertarian party supports the government enforcing more rules and regulations to big corporations. The political platform of todays Liberal can seem misleading to some. One example of this is individual abortion rights. Modern Libertarianism supports the right of the individual to be able to make their own decision to have an abortion, the government should not have a say in the matter. This shows support for the classical belief that government should not play a big part in an individuals life. However, by contrast, todays Liberal political platform also feels that the government should not perform executions even for convicted serial killers, (Goodman ncpa.org). This directly goes against the classical view that the governments role is to protect the individuals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the various types of injustices that are going on in todays society it has felt like the rights of a human being has been taken away. The various types of injustices of our human rights are; racial discrimination, freedom of speech, right to life and security of person. The government has shown us certain limitations to our human rights. For instance, Hillary Clinton in the 2016 elections had the most popular vote, but that did not matter, what mattered was the electoral vote making Donald trump win the election. Which is now causing protesting around the world, due to people not have wanted Trump to win. Also, Trump wants to hire federal agents to be imposing restrictions to those whom are undocumented and be sent out of the United States. For example, if an undocumented person violates a minor incident, like driving with a broken taillight, they can get sent out of the United States just for a minor violation which is morally wrong and this issue is violating our human rights in a matter of racial discrimination, right to life and security of people because those who are undocumented can not even drive without feeling afraid to get stopped by federal agents. For this reason, every human has the right to say what they desire to say in this society, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although, they determined multiple uses for the technology were possible, such as, screening drug candidates, drug delivery applications, detecting cancer, and possibly applied to Homeland Defense for detection of nuclear weapons. The primary focus was decided to be used to identify and catch coronary artery disease (CAD) before it happens. Marc Umeno developed the initial concept for NEOMed during graduate school at Case Western University, with help from several others in the beginning process; Marc conducted preliminary research and evaluated the market for the technology. An economic downturn for funding of such investments has put NEOMed into a crucial situation; continue developing the current product, use the technology for another purpose or dissolve the company. NEOMED had the right idea they developed a product that could stand alone without a strong competitor they brought in experts to help with the managements plans, financial plans and business plans, they set realistic goals and had a strong purpose however they do not seem able to adapt to recent changes in the lagging economy and lack of investors. In my opinion, a strong marketing person may have been helpful, although NEOMed s board consisted of many well educated individuals that specialized in science, medical, financial and management none focused solely on marketing. There was not a lot they did not cover, they understood what they needed and had a well thought out plan to produce it, they developed partnerships, as well as, produced market research, accuracy of procedures, projected timelines but in the end could not put it all together. Even though, much of the funding issues could not have been foreseen, I feel NEOMed may have had an easier time finding funding if they would have went the route of Homeland Defense because of the current market in the 2002. As callous as it may sound it would have been the most opportune time to capitalize on the tragedy of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brief of the case study: The Future of Customer Experience And Customer Service By BlackBerry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TQtrXyeIhY amp;feature=share I have chosen a video released by BlackBerry recently, as my case study for this assignment. This case study makes us aware of the potential future of customer experience management with the advances in technology. Customer experience (CX) is the sum of all experiences a customer has with a supplier of goods or services, over the duration of their relationship with that supplier. From awareness, discovery, attraction, interaction, purchase, use, cultivation and advocacy. It can also be used to mean an individual experience over one transaction; the distinction is usually clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are hundreds of examples, with more coming every day. The point is these increasing levels of digitally driven personalization allow customers to choose what they consume, from whom, and how they interact with and consume it. These digital experiences are training smart customers to expect everything, from every company product, services, experiences, and more to be customized in a similar manner. When it comes to innovative customer experience, this all leads to one word: personalization. One Size Fits All Simply Doesn t Fly Anymore. And It Doesn t Have To. No company can afford to or needs to deliver a fully customized ideal experience to each individual customer across the range of digital, human, and static touchpoints and interactions. The fact is, some customers are simply worth more than others, and it takes a great deal of intelligence for companies to figure out what the right experiences are for any given group of customers, much less how to personalize them. The good news is, smart touchpoints and the data they can produce, combined with the ability to analyze the digital breadcrumbs and data that surrounds almost every customer, means that any firm of any size has the tools for intelligent personalization at hand. Starting with what can be the biggest step, a firm needs to be willing to adjust its offerings to the needs of individual customers based on an understanding of what those individual ... • 10. The Events Of The Holocaust Perhaps one of the greatest tragedies of morality in the modern world were those acts committed by Hitler s regime in WWII. Wherein, several million people lost their lives, homes, careers, and rights. The largest of these people were the Jewish, but also people that Hitler deemed as subversives homosexuals, disabled, etc. In the holocaustthese people were systematically oppressed through a degradation of rights; murdered in gruesome methods; and enslaved for the duration of the war. It is of the utmost importance that we do not forget about this great tragedy. It is my hope that we can all remember those lost and learn the lessons of morality the holocaust taught us. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of the Holocaust was the leading events to the final imprisonment and extermination. These events allowed the German people to dehumanize Jewsand subversives too such a point that they thought of them as nothing more than animals. This was a complete degradation of rights and respect. It is not easy to sum these events up as it follows a long timeline, however, there are a few critical events I will mention. At the end of WWI Germany was fully blamed and owed a lot of money in reparation. This eventually bankrupted Germany and caused a great amount of anger and hate to build. On Jan 30th, 1933 Hitler is appointed as chancellor of Germany and all hell begins to break loose ( Holocaust Timeline ). The Jewish people have many rights stripped away such as land ... • 11. Changes in the Land Essay Reading Worksheet William Cronon, Changes in the Land History 2110 Indians 1. How did the Indians occupy the land? The northern Indians occupied the land much differently from those who lived in the south. The land was drier in the north, and the soil not as fertile, so agriculture was not a main source of subsistence. All Indians relied greatly on mobility throughout the seasons for survival. Those in the south were able to stay in one place for longer however because of the fertility of the soil and its ability to sustain agricultural needs. The women were mostly in charge of these needs, along with starting fires, making mats for wigwams, and caring for children. The fires, which were also more popular in the south, ... How did their occupation influence the natural development of the landscape? With the absence of the great Indian population following the spread of English old world diseases through the fur trade, the landscape changed drastically. Ironically, the English jumped on the opportunity to claim new land following each epidemic. Freed from the annual burnings, and soon to be subject an entirely different agricultural regime, the land began to change. The regrowth of forest claimed some land unuseful altogether and difficult to travel through. Without the fires, strawberries and raspberries would not return in such abundance, the edge effect was gone, and as a result, animal populations were in decline. 3. Did the European Colonists have a concept of land ownership? If so, what was it? What did it mean to own the land for a European Colonist? To define property is thus to represent boundaries between people, equally, it is to articulate at least one set of conscious ecological boundaries between people and things. Marshall uses the post modernist approach of identity politics through the representation of an African American in a police uniform rather than drawing a Caucasian officer. The artist also uses codes. This is displayed through the badge the officer is wearing. The badge is an identifier; every officer wears one but each badge is specific to one officer. The badge is symbolic of uniqueness and individuality which helps reinforce the artist s theme. The number written on the badge is not easily determined in the portrait. The artist s description verbalizes the reasoning for creating the portrait. • 13. Comparing Goldilocks And Bill Cleaver s Where The Lilies... The novel, Where the Lilies Bloom has a striking similarity to the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. When you take a look at Where the Lilies Bloom, by Vera and Bill Cleaver, the comparison becomes eminent very quickly. Within the first couple of chapters, the characters in Where the Lilies Bloom begin to resemble characters in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Kiser Peace, an uneducated and superstitious man, takes the role of the bear in this story. Mary Call Luther, an intelligent young girl who has become the head of the household after her father s death, and Romey, Mary Call s 10 year old brother, start to both represent Goldilocks. Goldilocks and the Three Bears is definitely comparable to Where the Lilies Bloom. This first quote can make it easier to see how these two books coincide. Romey and Mary Call are outside of Kiser s house when Romey says, It s not latched. You reckon it d be all right if we just went in (Cleaver 20)? If that s not enough later, Mary Call says, Let s just step inside a minute, Romey (Cleaver 21). He has written many well known books, including A People s History of the United States and A People s History of American Empire. The reason that these books are so well known is because Zinn is a very special kind of historian. Unlike other historians who might be more objective about history and just give you the straight facts, Zinn is openly partial in his account of history giving readers a more subjective view of these events. By Zinn taking a partial point of view, the omission of exculpatory evidence about events in history is utilized to persuade the reader into falling under the same opinion about an issue as he does (Stanford.edu, David Plotnikoff). By doing this, Zinn s credibility is being flaunted as he might leave out information that could completely change the opinion of the reader. However, it would be completely impractical to have a very large book with all of history written upon thousands of pages, but it is obvious that Zinn left out some key facts. For example, Zinn describes the indigenous people of North America to be unbelievably pleasant. He constantly makes remarks about how unbelievably welcoming they were to Columbus and how they simply survived blissfully without the need commerce instead just sharing what they owned (Zinn, People s History, Page 1). While this may be somewhat true, he never came close to discussing the amount of bloodshed between some indigenous tribes like the Iroquois and the savages that was described in the writing of Champlain in which rival tribes would battle in close quarters combat. Combat that caused many fatalities among both tribes (Champlain). Although this does not change the fact that Columbus murdered many people in his conquests and that the Spaniards acted upon them like wolves, tigers and lions which had been starving for many days, it still may change the opinion of many about the indigenous population as a whole (La Casa). In order to do so, a liquid mixture is separated into three fractions in the first distillation; then, one of the fractions produced is redistilled to increase the purity of the liquid. Since two rounds of distillation occur, the process is termed fractional distillation. Thus, since the Hickman still has a short column and a complete separation of hexane and toluene cannot be achieved in one cycle, there are two theoretical plates in this experiment: one from the original distillation where three fractions are recovered, and one from the redistillation of one of the fractions to produce more pure portions. This experiment involves the separation of a solution containing hexane and toluene. These compounds meet the criteria mentioned above since their boiling points are approximately 40В°C apart (hexane: 69В°C; toluene: 111В°C). Benefits and Losers of Healthcare Globalization Globalization is changing the healthcare sector rapidly and radically through the circulation of medical goods and services. Therefore, the core of globalization is on basis of multilateral agreements between nations. However the very nature of globalization and the agreements between the developed country and developing and underdeveloped country means that the process benefits the former while the latter often loses or gets a meager trickle down from the benefits. For example in the case study it is established that due to the shortage of radiologists in America, radiologists are often expensive and take home a large paycheck of approximately $400,000. Outsourcing to Indian radiologists would not only reduce the workload of the American radiologists but also cut costs. Cost cutting would be achieved through cheaper professional fees for the Indian radiologist who gets approximately a tenth of what their American counterpart receives. This means that globalization in this sense benefits the American population and professionals, while the Indians lose. However, globalization could also benefit the developing or underdeveloped nation like India through these practices. For example the earnings that the Indian radiologist gets, though minimal in ... This essay is aimed to critically appraise the article about comparing the effect of glucosamine and glucosamine with alendronate in symptomatic relieve of degenerative knee joint disease (Hamid Reza Arti Mohammad Ebrahim Azemi, 2012, p. 87 92). The study talked about the Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD) or osteoarthritis, which is the most common destructive jointdisease and causes of chronic disability in human beings. Osteoarthritis is often caused by aging, frequent use of knee joints or obesity. People with osteoarthritis are normally treated by glucosamine. On the other hand, alendronate is used to treat osteoporosis. People with osteoporosis will have brittle or fragile bones due to deficiency in calcium or vitamin D. As both osteoarthritis and osteoporosis have higher chances of being found in elderly patients, it might not be an unusual thing for them to exist together in the patient at the same time. Combining glucosamine and alendronate together in the treatment may bring out unexpected therapeutic benefits. The objective of the study is to find out the differences between the effects of glucosamine alone and combination between glucosamine and alendronate administration in relieving knee degeneration. The study hypothesised that combination of glucosamine and alendronate will be more effective in treating knee degeneration. To test the efficacy of glucosamine, a double blind randomised controlled trial (RCT) was set up. A randomised controlled trial is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most notably one of the greatest boxers of all time, Mohammed Ali, refusing to be drafted to a war he disagreed with and Jackie Robinsonbreaking the color barrier in baseball. Baseball is easily described as America s pastime. Personally, baseball is my favorite sport to play and attend. It is pure irony that the earliest known mention of baseball in the United States occurred in my home state of Massachusetts in Pittsfield in 1792. It was recorded because a law was made banning the playing of a baseball game within eighty yards of the town meeting house. It is important to note that the first mention of baseball in history was in reference to a political matter. The game was played under modern day rules by upper middle class white men in the 1840 s by the New York Knickerbockers. In 1857, baseball officially was in full swing with sixteen New York ball clubs joining the first ever chapter of the National Association of Baseball. (Baseball Reference). It is notable that Branagh took into consideration the play s intricate detail as he built around the film. In his directing effort, he made both plausible and not so brilliant decisions too. It is commendable to a given extent that Branagh maintained Shakespearean language throughout the film. However, he did away with a significant part of the play s ambiguous quality by making plain, mindful decisions on aspects such as setting, characterization and others in the film. Branagh put it in the Napoleonic era rather than the Middle Ages according to Shakespeare s original version. Several cinematic basics, such as the film s melodic make, compliment Branagh s complex vision of the film and intrigue the audience. • 39. English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which lovesits upon. Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability, compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion, to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for. Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual, and permanent. It is true. The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring houses. The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of the man s love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her. The Clarity Project will result in the first complete redrafting and recodification of U.S. GAAS since 1972 (Morris Thomas, 2011, para. 2). Four of the most significant changes are: changing the format of the standards so they are more consistent and readable, the wording in the auditor s report, group auditstandards, and the authoritative status on the 10 generally accepted auditingstandards (Morris Thomas, 2011). The Clarity Project also includes the process of integrating the U.S. GAAS with International Standards on Auditing (ISA). • 42. Diesel Engines And Vehicle Performance Metrics Essay In the automotive world, efficiency and power are two elements of vehicle performance metrics that while important to many consumers and critics alike, appear to be elusive when in convolution with one another. In automotive history, good fuel efficiency equaled compromises in power and performance and vehicles with large displacements and torque usually had worse gas mileage. The exception to this rule were diesel engines, which managed to combine better efficiency than many four cylinder gas engines while providing very high torque number for better performance. The main drawback that diesel s faced was due to their stigma of being dirty, as they emitted more greenhouse gases including nitrous and sulfur oxides. Coupled with the stricter emissions that many states began to implement, primarily overseen by the EPA, it became harder for car manufactures to certify diesel engines for emissions while maintaining high fuel economy and power output figures. The emission control hardware and software in diesel vehicles also came at a high price and with increased complexity, both unwelcoming additions for any car company wanting to mainstream diesel s. VolkswagenAutomotive Group (VAG) pledged to change these preconceived notions concerning power and efficiency with the debut of the clean diesel technology in 2008 within select models. These vehicles had miraculously managed to decrease emissions out of vehicles with diesel motors while not compromising on the power and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
