Teacher Difficulties in Teaching Esl in Malaysia
INTRODUCTION English plays a vital role around the global. As the regard of English usage in
a universal form, English is placed as second language in most of the countries around the world.
English is widely learned as a second language and used as an official language of the European
Union and many Commonwealth countries, as well as in many world organizations. It is the third
most natively spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. It is the most
widely spoken language across the world. English is now widely taught in almost every country.
When it comes to teaching and learning a language, it is not always easy to achieve the goal.

English is compulsory second language taught in school beginning at Primary 1 and age seven.
Malaysian students from different background in life have different levels of knowledge and
proficiency in English. Every student has a different way of learning, and learns and progresses
at different speeds. There are some students who find it difficult to do the task while others find it
easy whenever teacher instructs on a task to be carried out by them. These mix abilities students
are hard for teacher to approach one by one. Such situations become obstacles in the process of
learning English as a second language. Teachers are unable to reach all of the students at one time.
Teachers are also having problems in deciding the right activities and tasks to be carried out
throughout the lesson to facilitate teaching and learning process. Other than that, the participation
of students in classroom activities also plays a role in the success and failure of the lesson.
Teachers are uninspired when the teachers does not get the participation of students in classroom
activities. Since the classroom is the first and only environment for many foreign language learners,
they should use this chance as much as possible to get involved in the classroom activities.
However, some of the students find it difficult to speak in the target language for many reasons
ranging from interest to confidence, from age to knowledge. Other

How Does Othello Show Loyalty To Desdemona
Loyalty is described as giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or
institution. In the play Othello, Emilia really shows this trait of loyalty to Desdemona in a
numerous amounts of ways. Emilia and Desdemona have a type of relationship that can only be
classified as true friendship, almost family like. In the play Othello, they both really show how
much they care about being honest with each other and being protective of one another and how
they will always have each others back. Since Emilia is more protective and caring for Desdemona
than Iago, Emilia is more loyal to Desdemona. Honesty is prevalent in Othello by Emilia with
Desdemona. The way that Emilia and Desdemona are so caring and honest with each other is
almost precarious. Good madam, do I warrant it grieves my husband as if the cause were his. (Act
3, Scene 3, line 2 3) Emilia is honest with Desdemona and tells her to talk to Cassio to make sure
her husband s problem is resolved. Emilia is also very honest to... Show more content on

Protectiveness is probably one of the most crucial traits out of all. Pray you come in. I will
bestow you where you shall have time to speak you blossom freely. (Act 3, Scene 1, line 43 45)
Emilia lets Desdemona and Cassio speak freely without anyone finding out because they are not
supposed to be doing that. Another way Emilia demonstrates protectiveness towards Desdemona
is protecting her feelings and making sure she does not get hurt. After Emilia steals the
handkerchief from Desdemona, Iago wouldn t tell Emilia what he plans on doing with it so
Emilia then wants to give it back to Desdemona because it is very meaningful to her. Tis not a
year or two shows us a man. They are all but stomachs, and all but food. To eat us hungerly, and
when they are full, they belch us. (Act 3, scene 4, line 92 95) Emilia gives Desdemona good

Microsoft, Microsoft And Microsoft
Later, US Justice Department filed antitrust charges in 1998 against the software company, claiming
that Microsoft had taken over the internet browser competition and limited consumer choice. In
view of antitrust regulation in the US and EU, and increasing competition in the desktop software
market, Microsoftwas determined to move beyond the PC software industry. By formally
recognizing the emerging business opportunities introduced by the new internet era ( Web 2.0 ),
Microsoft began to reinvent itself. It wanted to extend its software products into web based
services for businesses and consumers. It wanted to try new sectors such as media, television set
top boxes, game consoles and other broader technology services. Microsoft aimed to transform itself
and wanted to set a standard for accessing, communicating and doing business over the internet.
Microsoft had entered various new markets in which it has no propriety advantages with it s new
diversification strategy. Microsoft could not conquer all the markets alone as they would have to
face new challenges and many industries were against Microsoft getting into their industry as they
feared that Microsoft would monopolize the market. Hence, it improved its already existing as well
as created new partnerships in the newly targeted industry. Microsoft hence, needed to constantly
monitor the dynamic changes in the markets and adjust its strategies to capture opportunities in
these markets.

Safe Sex Behavior
Predicting safe sex behaviors is complicated as it involves another person and it is often
unplanned (Turchik Gidycz). Based on our analysis so far, all evidence suggests that the TPB
model alone does not adequately predict safe sex behavior. However from our analysis of studies
that included added variables, we know that extending the model can add to its predictableness,
especially when the model includes past behavior. Two of the four articles indicated that past
behaviour is a major predictor of intention and a valuable adage to the TPB model. McEachan et al
found that when included, past behavior accounted for a further 25.3% to the overall predictive
value of the TPB. Similarly Turchik and Gidycz found that past behavior had a solid,... Show more

Thomas, Shields and Gabbay highlight in their results that the decision to use a condom requires
a separate set of considerations from those expended in previous research (2013). Furthermore
researchers should not assume that one set of variables, which had relative success in predicting
one type of safe sex behavior e.g. condom use, would have similar success at predicting another
e.g. the pill (Turchik Cidycz). This lack of stratification disallows for an examination of the
differences such considerations may present. As such, studies that have used the TPB, do not
reveal much of the social cognitive processes that underlie safe sex practices. There is a clear
indication that separating safe sex behaviors into partner type, age group, sex, relationship status
etc. is important, as the rates of engagement and predicative variables will vary across sample
groups and behavioral types (Turchik

Red Coon Hunt Research Paper
Billy was an adventurous little boy who lived near the Ozark Mountains. He wanted two Red
Coonhounds more than anything in the world. Although his parents could not afford two dogs, that
did not stop Billy from trying to get them. With the help of his grandfather, who sold coon skins for
Billy, he saved enough money up and bought two Red Coonhounds from Kentucky in a sportsman s
magazine. As soon as the dogs arrived in the town of Tahlequah, Billy went to retrieve them. After
gaining two coonhounddogs, one boy and one girl, Billy named the boy Old Dan and the girl Little
Ann. After weeks of training them, Billy, Old Dan, and Little Ann went on their first huntingtrip.

of his dogs determination and loyalty even through a blizzard, Billy won the competition. After
that, everyone started to head home. Awhile later, Billy, Old Dan, and Little Ann went hunting
again. Billy was not prepared for this hunt. During the hunt, Old Dan and Little Ann tracked
down a mountain lion. They would not give up the hunt until the lion was dead. While saving
Billy s life, Old Dan and Little Ann were wounded very badly. Even though Billy and his parents
did their best to treat Old Dan and Little Ann s wounds, Old Dan did not make it long after the
hunt. Shortly after Old Dan s death, Billy buried him. Since Old Dan and Little Ann had always
done everything together, Little Ann was so sadden that she stopped eating and became weak.
As she was dying, she drug herself all the way out to Old Dan s grave and died beside his grave.

Chapter Summary Of The Hot Zone
The Hot Zone The Hot Zone, by Richard Preston, is an exploration of the discovery and
evolution of the three filovirus sisters : Marburg, Ebola Sudan, and Ebola Zaire. The book
begins by introducing Charles Monet, a factory maintenance worker in Western Kenya. He
decides to go on an expedition up Mount Elgon with a woman in search of animals and birds to
watch. They come across Kitmur cave, explore it, and trek back down the mountain. A few days
later, Monet begins to feel sick, so he goes to the hospital. They don t know what s wrong, and send
him on an airplane to the much larger Nairobi hospital. This is important, because it brings the (then

waiting room. Not knowing what he had, the doctors at Nairobi Hospital rushed Monet to an
examination room, where Dr. Shem Musoke attempts a laryngoscopy on the unresponsive
Monet, and gets vomited on when Monet abruptly takes a breath. Days later, Musoke himself
falls ill and is in turn quarantined by Dr. Silverstein, who sends an extract of Musoke s blood
serum off to the CDC for Marburg confirmation. Preston then goes on to describe a massive
outbreak of the Marburg virus in Marburg, Germany, due to the shady practices of a monkey
trader and his money saving practices. Enter Major Nancy Jaxx, a veterinary virologist working
at the Army base USAMRIID with level 4 biohazard viruses, the hottest type. She is working in

The Need to Renewable Sources of Energy
1.1 INTRODUCTION Energy is vital for human survival and development. Most of today s
energy comes fossil fuels and Biomass. However these types of fuels are deplitable and emit
green house gases e.g. CO2which leads to global warming. (See Fig 1.1).On the other hand,
renewable energy is inexhaustible and does not any produce green house gases that can pollute
the environment. Therefore there is need to shift to renewable sources of energy. Figure 1.1: A
graph showing energy consumption and development between 1965 and 2010 (https:/
/www.google.com). For example, in Kenya here is a large geographical imbalance in electricity
demand and supply. For instance electrification rates ranges from 15 20% nationally and at rural
it ranges from 5 10%. Electricity only accounts for 10% of the total final energy consumption.
60% of all electricity is consumed by commercial and industrial sectors. Only 24% is consumed
by households. The demand is rapidly increasing and there is need to incorporate renewable
energy in the energy sector in order to make Vision 2030 a reality. Renewable energy is the energy
that comes from sources that are continually replenished. This include: solar energy, wind energy,
hydropower, ocean energy, geothermal energy. One of the promising renewable sources of energy
is solar energy. Solar renewable energy has many advantages and these include: Plenty of resource:
The sunlight reaching the Earth s surface is abundant approximately 8000 (120000 TW/Hr) times

The Bands And Music Groups That Are Popular Today
Introduction:
Look at the bands and music groups that are popular today. They use many different instruments to
create the songs they present to us. A common instrument they tend to use is the guitar. Whether it
is acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or
country, presenting it s ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies.
Although, it is a well known instrument around the world, people do not appreciate the time and
effort it takes to create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it
well, but what about those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars
we play? There is a lot that goes into making such a magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of
woodwork and craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don t
realize that there is a lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of
mathematics and musical theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar of great quality. To understand
this complex interplay, we must understand:
the relationship between frequency of sound waves and the pitch of musical notes
the body of a guitar as an acoustic resonator
Pythagorean tuning and the diatonic scale
the Western chromatic scale as a group of 12 elements closed under transposition in a specific
system of tuning
how to place frets on a guitar using either a mathematical idea

Essay On Gas Chamber
Gas Chamber Punishment
There are only four states that still authorize the use of the gas chamber as a punishment of the
Death Penalty. These states are Arizona, California, Missouri, and Wyoming. This is a barbaric
way to punish someone no matter what they did. It should not happen. Even though only four states
still allow it, that is four too many. It is like how Hitler put the Jewish people into gas showers at
concentration camps! Hitler used hydrogen cyanide in his gas showers which is the same stuff they
use in the capital punishment gas chambers. There are many ways for someone to pay for their
crimes, the gas chamber should not be one of them. To start off with, the process of how these
gas chambers work are simply savage. They strap the inmate to a chair with holes in the seat, then
a mixture of sulfuric acid, distilled water and sodium cyanide is dumped into a container under the
seat. This mix of chemicals creates hydrogen cyanide (HCN). In addition to this, the first execution
of the gas chamber was the unfortunate inmate named Gee Jon, a Chinese immigrant who was a
part of the Hip Sing Tong, a criminal gang who got into a bloody fight with the Bing Kong Tong
gang. He was sentenced to death row. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also used in mining. Basically what it does is it gets the gold from the rock in the mine
easier. This is very useful and can be safe if you take the safety precautions. This is a much better
option than the chemical miners used before, which was mercury. Exposure to mercury for too
long can cause hallucinations. According to miningfacts.org, Cyanide, in the form of a very dilute
sodium cyanide solution, is used to dissolve and separate gold from ore. If cyanide destroy cave
rock, imagine what it is doing to an actual human! The people whom receive the gas chamber
punishment do not get an anesthetic or painkiller. They just have to suffer through the pain. This

Theatrical Companies And The Role Of Controversies In Theatre
Theatrical companies and the role of patrons
Despite the fact that theatre was enjoyed throughout the community, the first theatre wasn t built
until 1576. Therefore before the construction of the theatres, actors would travel from town to town.
Travelling was dangerous, especially with frequent outbreaks of the Bubonic plaque. Strangers
were also viewed as suspicious in those days, meaning people were cautious of actors. They had the
reputation of being dishonest and homeless.
As disease rates increased and more and more actors wanted to travel across England, a license
was introduced. It was required by anyone who wanted to travel around England. The Licenses

Playhouses were undercover theatres that were converted from old Inns and other existing
buildings. Most people associated Elizabethan Theatres with the ones built in a similar style to the
Globe Theatre.
It usually took around six months to build an Elizabethan Theatre. They were up to 100 feet in
diameter and were Octagonal or circular in shape with between 8 and 24 sides. The open air
arena of the amphitheatre was called the pit or the yard . The stage of the amphitheatre projected
halfway into the pit . It had a raised stage at one end which was surrounded by three tiers of roofed
galleries with balconies overlooking the back of the stage.
The grounds of the theatre were busy with people, there would have been stalls to purchase food,
water and merchandise. There was usually one main entrance to the theatre, however there were
sometimes external staircases to access the galleries. The performances were usually held in the
afternoon, in order to gain maximum natural lighting, however artificial lighting was occasionally
used. There was no heating in the theatre, however this wasn t really an issue. In summer the plays
were performed in the outdoor theatres and during winter they were performed in the indoor,

The Rise Of Ancient Greece
Early Greece was the most compelling human advancement of the old world on account of their
solid learning in art, writing, philosophy, and science. Two Bronze Age civilizations emerged
along the eastern Mediterranean, The Minoan (c. 2500 1250 BCE) and Mycenaean (c. 600 1150
BCE) societies. These two societies were both devastated by natural causes and intrusion. After
the dark age came to be the earliest Greek human advancement proper (900 480 BCE). (Bishop

of the ancient world, they became very advanced rather quickly. The earliest civilizations in Greece

Classical Greek philosophy was different from early Greek, the subject in mind being human
morality and social being. Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, are the most remembered Classical
Greek philosophers. Socrates, who was born in 469 BCE, cherished making inquiries, debating
issues, and looking for answers. It appears that any disclosures he made were not written down.
He doubted everything except for he was distinctive to different philosophers that have gone
before him since he doubted and studied how one ought to live. He liked for individuals to be
straightforward with each other, and scan for reality with each other. In doing this it drove Socrates
to have his own particular one of a kind style of thinking. Indeed, even these days individuals still
utilize the Socratic technique in his respect. (Bishop 67) He was great at addressing others, tuning
in to what they need to state and afterward examining them for disagreements. By utilizing this
strategy for experimentation Socrates would help them in the end achieve an

Hunting In The Waterfowl
Waterfowl hunting was not always viewed as a sport but has been around for a long time. For
example, Egyptians would use ducks as religious sacrifices. This would mean that the date for
hunting waterfowl goes back to around 1353 1336 B.C. Over the years hunting has certainly
changed. No longer do we have to use wooden bows and arrows, but shotguns. Through this
upgraded machinery, we are able to bag birds faster and easier than before. Compared to way back
when there has certainly been an increase in the waterfowl population of various species.
One such species is the Mallard . According to the article, Mallard by an anonymous author, the

However, certain factors that can cause a decline in adults can range from boredom to mastery of
the sport. There will come a time, that if an adult is serious enough about waterfowl hunting, they
will get good at it. Sometimes, this may take the challenge out of the hunt, for the hunter knows that
they will be able to bag what they are after (if they find ducks in the first place). In opposition to this
are the hunters that have reached a certain level of mastery, but are otherwise still entertained and
challenged by their hunting situation.
If participation starts to decline in adults and keeps declining in youths, then there will be fewer
people advocating on behalf of wildlife. The main source of management is through the sales of
hunting licenses. Those that hunt are supporters of major environmental issues such as air and
water pollution. Also, some economies might see a decline due to the fact that the number of
hunting licenses bought has gone

The Spanish Lunches Essay
During the sessions in court, I noticed FAST had no reasons for firing me. They claimed that I
stole the Spanish lunches. It is a pity to see them managing the situation in such manner for two
reasons. First, they fired me for no reason and instead of admitting their mistake like adults, they
file a false case against me. Second, they had no documentations, which means the lack the basic
understanding of doing business in a civil society.
Some friends told me they would spit on FAST s representative s face if they were accused of such
thing, but I am a mature person with command over my emotions.
I ve already started making my own long terms plans for FAST, so I asked the clerk to write down
those claims on the record. It would come useful in the future.
After few attempts from FAST to delay the sessions in the labor court, the preliminary verdict s
date was set. When I went on that date, a clerk was taking his time finding my papers and waiting
for the clerk to come and read it.
I told him this is important to me because the company filed false case report on me and I spent
time in a black site and I m happy if it s just 1 SAR. He start reading the verdict and I was awarded

A Powerful Family And A Corruptive Society
A Powerful Family and A Corruptive Society
The Montana 1948 describes the twelve years old boy David, who witnesses the family tragedy
that involves murder, sexual assault, and racism during the summer of 1948. The Native
American Marie was killed by David s uncle Frank, who is the popular and well known doctor in
Bentrock. In order to cover up Frank s crime, David s father Wesley suffered both external and
internal pressure from the power of grandpa Julian, the justice system, and the name of Hayden.
Although Wesley works so hard to collect evidence against his brother Frank, Frank chooses to die
rather than to convince his guilt. Given too much power in the hand, the Hayden family is blind to
the laws and tend to manipulate the society. Thus, in order to preserve the fame of the Hayden
family, the Hayden abuses too much power and ignores the laws and justice, which leads the society
to the destruction.
The purpose of obtaining power is not for benefit townpeople as whole rather than to gain
domination in the society without practicing any laws. For grandpa Hayden, he had the ambition to
control others behaviors and he wanted, he needed, power пј€8)to make himself superior to others.
It is a common phenomenon that racism is one of prevailing trend in the society of 1948. Grandpa
Julian represents one of the typical examples that shows his extreme disdain and prejudice toward
the Native Americans, who are treated poorly and badly at that time. Although grandpa had an idea

My Indian Culture
I am an Indian who was born and raised in America. This means that I have been affected by both
American and Indian cultures. One of the biggest lesson imparted on me from Indian culture
was about language. In Indian culture, a person shows respect to everyone. We call adults not
related to us uncle and auntie as a sign of respect towards our elders. We even call kids older
than us Chetan and Chachi in the part of India that my family comes from since they are
technically our elders as well. Since the use of expletives would be considered disrespectful, it was
forbidden in my family. In fact, when I was a kid, the word stupid was considered taboo. To the
young me, saying stupid would be the same as saying f***. I remember one time when I was really
young, I was really mad. It was so insignificant that I don t even remember what I got so angry
over. So I said the word stupid while my dad. It was one of the less wise decisions I made my life.
Something you should know about my dad is that he very strict and takes showing respect to
everyone very seriously. So when I said stupid , he got really mad. He punished me by taking away
my privileges like watching TV which was already limited because my dad believed that I
should only be studying on school days. I was so sad when he limited my privileges that I even
cried. From then on, I learned to control my language for fear of losing those privileges. Even if
those privileges were pretty trivial, back then, those were

Why Do Some People Think That Parents Should Take Care Of...
Jack Dangermond once said, In a nursery, if you don t take care of those plants, your profits get
lost real quickly. You have to weed. You have to water. You have to nurture. If one does not take
proper care of his/her nursery garden the plants will rot and people will no longer be able to enjoy
nature s beauty. In life people must take care of their children for the same reason. Without the
proper care and upbringing, a childcan be negatively affected by their surroundings and have to live
a difficult life, leading those children to not fully experience the joys of life. Parents should be
encouraged to raise their children in an environmentin which they are loved and feel safe. It is

John Hegger wrote an article about the causes of criminal behavior in which he stated that our
experiences growing up have the capability to shape our view of the world and also have a direct
impact on one s ability to make rational decisions . When kids grow up in neighborhoods where
there are high crime and violence rates, they are more likely to act similar to the behavior they
see. According to Salehi, recent studies show that during the last 5 years, 60 percent of the entire
world s city residents have, directly or indirectly, been a victim of violence, crime, and felony.
Thus, the increasing crime rate, violent or non violent, is a serious threat to all the urban societies
of the world (6). This proves that the environments and societies around us have contributed
towards creating more violence, crime, and felony. When children are raised in these environments,
they are more susceptible to live similar, violent lives. As mentioned previously, negative home
environments have been known to be a cause of poor language development, behavioral issues,
aggression, depression, etc. for developing children

Car City Club
For each user, one route (among the defined routes) was randomly attributed at a time band. The
trip time was then calculated, based on the route distances in the central and suburban areas, and
the average speeds on the center and suburb at the given time of the day (randomly attributed
among the time bands of the selected user profile), as calculated on the definition of traffic
patterns. The parking period for each trip was also determined, based on the probability and
duration of parking, as defined in the user profiles.
This step was repeated iteratively, until the total distance traveled by the user reached its range set

Roman Catholic Church Research Paper
The Roman Catholic Church is ruled by the Pope in Vatican City, Rome. He rules over all Catholic
Churches in the world and many Catholics make it their life long dream to visit Vatican City one
day and to attend Mass with the Pope. The origin of this Christian denomination leads all the way
back to apostolic times. The rituals that the Roman Catholic Churchhas are very similar to Christian
rituals which include baptism and confirmation. Most Catholics who attend the Roman Catholic
Churchfollow and obey the Bible and the way in which their church interprets it. The Roman
Catholic Church is very similar but also very different in certain areas to Protestant beliefs but

Free will is the power of making free choices unconstrained by external agencies. For the
Catholics this statement is good for them as they are free to do good or evil. But for Protestants,
this is not the case. They are only free to do good things. Predestination is being determined in
advance where God chooses what will happen to you in life and what happens to you in the after
life. Catholics believe that your predestination is based on God s foreknowledge of you and your
actions while Protestants believe that your predestination is related to God s decrees. The
interpretation of the Bible is different as the Catholic interpretation includes apocrypha which are
books of the Bible that are added in to the Old Testament. While Protestants omit these 14 books
of the Bible. These are just a few differences between the Protestants and the beliefs of the Roman
Catholic Church. Marriage is accepted in both religions and shows the unity of two people and
shows their beliefs and sacrifices for God. Divorce on the other hand, is accepted by Protestants but
discouraged and is accepted as evidence of human weakness. While with Catholics, divorce is
looked down upon unless there is some canonical obstruction in which an annulment may be
granted in this situation. Eucharist is the

The Inner Workings Of Evolution And Natural Selection
Evidence
Investigate the inner workings of pluricellular evolution, cell shape and function, as well as how
cells survive and multiply. This is an essential question to consider and elaborate on when trying to
prove the topic of evolution. Evolution will be proven hereby by elaborating on the inner workings
of the Endosymbiotic theory, Multicellular evolution and Natural selection, along with Cell
specialization, replacement and Differentiation.
The Endosymbiotic theory is an assumption based on experience and/or limited information about
the evolution of the cell. Bacteria are one of the oldest single cellular organisms. They began to
make their own food using photosynthesis which then produced enough oxygen to reshape Earth s
atmosphere. This change brought upon diverse bacterial life which include clear evidence that
chloroplasts and mitochondria were, at one point, crude bacterial cells. Over the years, chloroplasts
and mitochondria became dependent on a host cell. After millions of years of evolution,
chloroplasts and mitochondria cannot survive outside of the cell. This is the Endosymbiotic theory.
Although this is labeled a theory, there is striking evidence that shows similarities in both bacteria,
and mitochondria and chloroplasts. They all have their own DNA (separate from the nucleus), and
they both use this DNA to produce proteins and enzymes for their functions.
Multicellular evolution has reshaped Earth s ecology and is incredibly critical in the

The Examination Of The Prosecution Witness
Dear James Blackburn, thank you for contacting me with your case. As an expert witness, I am
more than happy to assist you in the examination of the prosecution witness evidence and account
of the incident. Firstly, we must consider any confounding factors that may have influenced the
witness memory and therefore influencing their testimony. Some factors we must consider are;
cross raceeffect (CRE), weapon focus effect, own age bias (OAB) and the bystander effect. I will
attempt to aid you in this case by referring to information and knowledge that has been provided
and highlighted by previous research. These factors must be deliberated in regards to the validity
and credibility of the witnesss statement. Nonetheless, I will provide as much information I can to
help with your client s case.
Issue: Cross race effect
Fact: The witness is Black and the client is Caucasian.
Opinion: The cross race effect, otherwise referred to as own race bias explains why people are
more likely to recognise someone who is the same race as them. In this case, the witness may have
misinterpreted the scene as a result of this effect. For example, the criminal justice system regularly
relies on eyewitness identification when a crime has been committed (Sporer, 2001). Eyewitness
identification is still used despite the common difficulties eyewitnesses have recognising faces of
racial outgroup members. In your client s case, a black witness, and a white out group. These

Essay on The Coquette
The Coquette, written by Hannah Webster Foster in 1797, chronicles the life of an affluent woman
in the 18th century. There are a few themes that are presented throughout the whole novel:
correspondence, sexual freedom, and ideal womanhood. Elizabeth Whitman has been an icon of
American history since the 19th centurybecause of her bravery and contempt for the caged position
of women in society. It is stated that the tombstone of Elizabeth Whitman is a popular tourist
attraction; her grave was a popular destination for New England travelers, who beat paths to the far
corner of Danvers s Old South Cemetery through the entire nineteenth century. (Waterman) The
Coquette was loosely based on the story of Elizabeth Whitman, born in 1752... Show more content

The epistolary style of The Coquette allows the reader to see both sides of the story and see
things that might not otherwise be apparent. For instance, in The Coquette, we are following the
flirtatious excursions of Eliza and occasionally we get an insight into what General Sanford s
views. The trickery of Sanford is hidden until we read his letter to Mr. Deighton where he states,
but I fancy this young lady is a coquette; and if so, I shall avenge my sex by retaliating the
mischiefs she mediates against us. (Coquette, location 407) The theme of correspondence becomes
apparent from this point because it shows the reader that women can be naГЇve to the intentions of
others. This plays out throughout the novel in many ways through the actions of Eliza and the
reactions of Boyer and Sanford. Eliza spends much of her time writing to friends, attempting to
persuade them that she is not a coquette. This is where the theme of sexual freedom and
liberation comes into play. The Coquette is flooded with examples of sexuality and sexual
repression. The biggest argument given by the novel is that women should be sexually pure and
have no desires, as is the definition of the ideal Court Lady presented in The Book of the Courtier
published by Balclesar Castiglione in 1523. The ideal lady, now in her wish to be thought good and
pure, this lady must not be so coy, or appear so to abhor gay company or any talk that is a little
loose, as to withdraw as soon as she

Hunger in Ethiopia Essay
How would you feel if your body slowly turns on you, devouring the cells that make up your very
being? What would you do if you were so weak that you couldn t even hold a loved one in your
arms? How would you feel if you couldn t think straight because the pain of hunger was so
intense? What would you do..? Starvation results in a series of devastating events that can
ultimately lead to death. When a person eats, the body extracts needed nutrients for cellular
maintenance and repair. This requires energy which is provided for by the metabolism of the
food. If we consume more than what is required at that time, our body stores the excess as
adipose tissue or fat. This fat serves as a reserve of potential energy in times of a... Show more

types of famine that occur in different types of the world. The type that Ethiopia generally goes

causalities with extreme shortages of food in certain parts of the population. There are many
things that cause famine, whether it s draught, plague, or civil disrupt. Right now, Ethiopia is

Ethiopia experiences most every year, there is usually an increase in the amount of people

Comcast Universal Merger Case Study
Company and Situation
In December 2009, Comcast announced its intent to acquire a majority stake in the media
conglomerate NBC Universal from General Electric (GE). The planned acquisition was subject to
scrutiny from activists and government officials; their concerns primarily surrounded the potential
effects of the vertical integration that the acquisition could create, as Comcast is also heavily
involved in cable television and internet services in many media markets. The deal went through,
resulting in Comcast owning 51% of the company until March 2013, when GE divested its stake to
give Comcast sole ownership.
Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts described the deal as a perfect fit for the company, as Comcast
would be able to bolster its role as a creator and distributor of content, with a particular emphasis on
multiplatform anytime, anywhere media that American consumers are demanding ; increasing
access to NBC owned content through various platforms. The deal would also add Comcast s own
cable channels to NBCU s existing suite of cable networks, contributing to 82% of the merged

Blowout Fracture
Blowout Fracture: An Analysis on the Dimensions of the Injury There are many bones that
surround the eye and compose what is known as the orbit. The orbit is the part of the eye that
holds it in place. When a fracture of the bony framework of the orbit surrounding the eye (Prentice,
2016, p. 369) happens, a blowout fracture occurs. While blowout fractures can occur in different
areas of the orbit, the floor and medial wall are the two most common sites (Hur et al., 2015). The
dimensions of these fractures can vary depending on the mechanism of injury, size, and location
that the injury occurred.
Blowout fractures are most commonly caused by a blow to the face or the eye. This could be a
result from any type of trauma to the orbital bones, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision to observe a fracture or proceed with surgery is based on the clinical exam findings,
orbital imaging, and assessment of the risk and benefit of either option may also make a
decision to do surgery (Boyette et al., 2015, p. 230). One of their options is to prescribe the
patient with prophylactic antibiotics. These antibiotics will reduce the likelihood of infection,
which is caused by the interaction between the orbital floor and maxillary sinus (Prentice, 2016).
If symptoms persist, physicians will then decide whether or not surgery is necessary. One of the
most common indications that physicians need to move forward in the treatment process, is the
symptom of diplopia. If diplopia occurs, it is highly suggested that the patient moves forward and
undergoes surgical treatment. During a surgical repair, doctors will reconstruct the orbit of the
eye. The surgeon has different choices when it comes to the size of the implant they decide to use.
They may either use a large, single implant or multiple, tiny implants (Hur et al., 2015). Following
any type of a blowout fracture, the patient is not required to go through any type of rehabilitation.

computer systems in which can ran as robots. AI systems are programmed of acquisition of
information and rules for using the information to reach approximate or definite conclusions.
There are various applications of AI expert systems, some include speech recognition and
machine vision. In the story of Traditions, we are introduced with La Maquina, a AI robot who
lives with a Mexican household family who serves as a maid essentially. Y Mira, you re
interested in cooking, in being a curandero, in learning her ways (Gonzales, Kindle). The writing
style in the story is engaging because of Gonzales focus on Mexican culture and traditions in this
futuristic world. I believe in cases like these this benefits the family in functional aspect of living.
Having a robot/assistant perform tasks around the house can be very helpful. Such as cleaning,
babysitting, cooking this can allow for us humans to focus on more important things such as trying
to live a healthy lifestyle and focusing on school or work. In the prologue to this story, the author
talks about incorporating their tradition to today s world. There is a rising conflict between Mictan
and her grandmother. Grandma wants Mictan to live a certain life but does not agree to what she
ultimately thinks about it. The robot seems to have a high performance technology because of her

1940s Clothing Trends
World War II significantly altered fashion in the 1940s. However, fashion was still able to flourish
in numerous ways. The war effort led to rationing due to material restrictions and labor shortages
for manufacturing in multiple countries. Therefore, fabric was limited. Wool was used to make
parachutes, maps, and gunpowder bags. Viscose and rayon would become the dominant material
for civilian clothes during World War II. Rationing led to the development of the Utility scheme

staple in men s fashion in the 1940s. World War II altered the suit jacket. Before the war, suit
jackets had wide peaked lapels and double breasted. During the war, sports coats became single

Leisurewear emphasized comfortability. Then came the changes in the sports jacket. The

The Effects of Reading Instruction on Students of Low Socioeconomic Status
Amelia K.L. Reynolds
Edmond, Oklahoma
Abstract
This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading
instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review
the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more
advantageous method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this
literature review is to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy
development of children and how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed
was collected from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers
Library website. The majority of the researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost Education
Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of this literature review,
research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom,
promotes growth in literacy skills among young children. Research suggests that multisensory
phonics, based on Orton Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at
risk, however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. This literature
review suggests that multisensory phonics should be utilized in a whole language classroom to
determine if its use promotes growth in

hallway, I was surprised to see how comfortable the staff were with their surroundings. The scene
opposed my previous personal and professional belief about psych patients. I have always believed
that psych patients are combative and are challenging to manage. This notion came from way back

Summary Of Michael Vey Battle Of The Ampere
Dear, Mrs.Dilorenzo the book that i read was called Michael vey Battle of the Ampere it is about
a kid named michael has a bad dream about hatch and him going face to face but the problem was
is that he lost and hatched captured him. After the nightmare he ends up next to a girl named tessa
which she used to work for hatchand she had powers just like michael. When Tessa enchanted

micheal having friends then there would be no story because jack and wade helped michael in
the first book but in the middle of the book wade takes a bullet for jack and he later on dies.If
michael didn t have friends then in the first one when his mom was captured he needed someone
to be by his side to help him but then michael and his friends were captured except for zeus and
then zeus managed to save michael and his friends.without then michael and his friends would of
been killed or tortured.then in this book that i read without michael s friends his powers wouldn t
have been enchanted Tessa wouldn t be able to lead micheal out of the jungle intime before the
elgen would of came and captured them.Michael s mom wouldn t be here and now he wouldn t
have no family. This reminds me of The Maze Runnerby James Dashner because there is a lot of
action. The maze runner and michael vey are sort of similar because they both have action and
most of the maze runner is fast paced. In the story maze runner when they escaped the maze gally
throws a knife at Thomas but chuck manages to get in the way,and wade died by saving jack but
he took a bullet for him.The reason why i think that this book reminds me of micheal vey because

The Price Of Two Churro Stands At The Mount
Above is a matrix that shows the prices of two churro stands at The Mount. Alice needs to
decide whether she should charge $4 or $4.50, and Bob is deciding whether he should pay one
of those two amounts for a churro. Consider that the row player s (Alice s) payoff is the first in
the matrix and the column player s (Bob s) payoff is the second. Now we need to find out whether
the payoffs in each of the cells and see whether it is a Nash equilibriumor not. In this case, it would
be the top left cell because per Nash equilibrium no player has the desire to change their strategy
after considering their opponent s choice. Instead of games being done in matrices, extensive form
games are done in the form of decision trees which are rather... Show more content on

However, if both Alice and Bob rat out each other, they will be incarcerated for a year. The
question here is, what should Alice and Bob when they re interrogated? In game theory, we would
call this situation a prisoner s dilemma, which is a non zero sum game in which two players each
have two options whose outcome depends on the choice made by the other player at the same
time. The prisoner s dilemma is considered one of the most popular examples of game theory.
Here is a matrix of the prisoner s dilemma below: Bob cooperatesBob defects
Alice cooperatesAlice gets 6 monthsAlice gets released Bob gets 6 monthsBob gets 5 years
Alive defectsAlice gets 5 yearsAlice gets 1 year Bob gets releasedBob gets 1 year
In the matrix, Alice and Bob are playing a game that is played separately and confidential, and are
given the choice the cooperate with the police or defect. The prisoner s dilemma demands that
personal interest is more appealing. No matter what the other person says in the interrogation
room, both players are better off confessing rather than saying silent. But the problem here is, if
both Alice and Bob confess then they will be faced with a much harsher sentence than if either
Alice or Bob cooperate or defect. As Scheve writes, game theorists have determined that confessing
is always the answer for both parties in this case. The reason for this is that each party must assume
that the

My Childhood During The Dust Bowl

ENGL100 BL3, Essay #2 outline
Professor Cute
October 29, 2015
My childhood during the dust bowl in 1931, wasn t as joyful and fun as the childhood kids, have
these days. I m showing and informing you, my daughter, what the life of the dust bowl was like
through the eyes of a child, and how my life was influenced greatly. I ve witnessed and experienced
my family slowly falling apart and all my parents hard work get taken away in heartbeat. I had no
control over this and it affected my life significantly. Even though people who were alive during the
dust bowl were greatly affected, the ones who were drastically affected were the children. We
experienced our families hard work vanish in a heartbeat, we were psychologically, mentally, and
emotionally affected and experienced our families fall apart.
Families during the dust bowl suffered from not having enough money to support their families. I
would watch grandma and grandpa struggle everyday, but they would always manage to keep a
smile on their face for uncle Joe and I. The families then, didn t make enough money to put food
on the table for themselves let alone their family. Which then would have the kids like me; go to
bed starving and without being fed. Which affected a lot of the children psychologically, mentally,
and emotionally. NO matter how hard grandma and grandpa tried, it just wasn t enough back then.
We saw them not being able to provide for our family. I would see some of the children drink

The Lord Of Literature By. R. Tolkien
Caleb CassidyHonors English Literature 9/14/16 4th hour J.R.R Tolkien, The lord of Literature
Poet and author J.R.R. Tolkien is held by many as one of the greats within English literature. He
was a master of writing and teaching, and he showed excellence in academia, prose, and poetry.
He left an everlasting impact on the world of literature by using his great understanding of
language and his talent of creating mythical lands of consistent excellence. Tolkien started his
life in tragedy, but used his circumstances to his advantage in his latter life and within his literary
career. A man of higher intellect than most was Tolkien, which is what contributed to making
him an amazing writer and poet. On January 3, 1892 John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born to
Mabel and Arthur Tolkien in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Arthur Tolkien was a bank clerk from
the U.K. who left for South Africa in the 1890s for better chances of promotion (Doughan).
Mabel Tolkien, maiden name Suffield, was from the city of Birmingham in the West Midlands of
Britain. At the age of eighteen Mabel Suffield became engaged to Arthur Tolkien. The two were
destined for marriage, but Mabel s father forbade them from marrying for three years. During their
three year betrothal Mabel and Arthur exchanged letters to keep in touch ( Mabel Tolkien ). When
the three years were up Mabel sailed to Cape town South Africa to marry Arthur, and so began the
Tolkien family. Mabel and Arthur were married on April 16,

ass Haven is and how he hopes he dies, how he wished that his friends would die, how he doesn t
matter to Haven, how he s going to be replaced. Griffith growls as he struggles with the completely
irrational thoughts going through his head. This happens ever time Haven hung out with anyone

The House Of The Scorpions Analysis
Throughout both The House of the Scorpions and On the Doctrine of the Feeling of Power, there
are many differences. These two articles are like comparing apples to broccoli as Mrs. White,
my eighth grade gifted English teacher, puts it. However, once you dig down deeper into the
meaning of these writings, you can find many similarities not easily seen on the surface.
Conceiving of power, as Nietzsche puts it, is more of a deceitful process. Nietzsche s process might
be more for someone who is looked at with little power. In other words, his process is more
intended for power hungry people. I believe that power should be obtained in respect and
harmony. Obviously, my way will take longer to move up the scale of power, but it is the only way
to do it without ending... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way that people use benefiting is, if someone is running for class president or any other
thing that is controlled by the people s vote then the runner might hand out cookies, stickers,
anything the voter will like. They do this in order to get people on their side so they can win the
election against their opponent enemy. Obviously, they are not doing this in a negative way, all
they are thinking about is winning. This shows that sometimes you can be deceitful without
even realizing it. An example of pain is when a parent is punishing their child. The parent hates
this process, but they know it is the best thing to do for their child. All they want is to mature
their child into a well formed human being. As you can see, Nietzsche s ways are used in
everyday life without us even knowing it. As you can see, there are many more similarities than
seen on the surface. Both novels express high levels of power, and how to gain that power. Both
show lots of symbolism. Now you can see why it is better not judge a book or article by its

Gender Roles In Mulan
We all grew up watching the Disney princesses on screen being rescued by her Prince Charming
or Knight in shining armor. However, not all Disney movies were about a princess being rescued.
There was one where she did the rescuing . Mulan came out on June 5, 1998. Mulan best shows a
character breaking out of the standard genderroles of society; therefore, Mulan shows that great
things happen when we step out of the gender roles society has created. Mulan is a movie that
takes place during 6th century China when the Mongolian Huns invaded China by crossing the
Great wall and started a war that lasted twelve years. The movie starts when the Hans first
attacking and crossing the Great Wall. The emperor is warned about the attack. He calls for one man
from each family to serve the army saying A single grain of rice can tip the scale. One man may
be the difference between victory and defeat. The movie then moves on to Mulan Getting ready
to meet the Matchmaker. This part of the movie shows that females were to prepare their whole
lives learning to be posed, graceful, not speak unless spoken and other ways to act, until they meet
the matchmaker. The matchmaker would determine if and who they would marry. Since Mulan
was the Hau families only daughter the only way to bring honor to their family would be too
marry a high ranked person. However, Mulan right away starts to break out of society s gender role.
During her meeting with the matchmaker, she fails miserably. First she

Reflection Paper On Babies
BIOL2299 Making Better Babies Reflection Paper
Tram Anh Ngoc Nguyen. NU ID: 001884300
The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its
scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different
perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease
sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new
concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me.
First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford
English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected
in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As
discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be
hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents
preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome
leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement.
This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian
s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and
damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable
in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues
diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental
changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the
survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal
babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic
mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also
accompanied by negative social pressure.
Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of
genetic testing. If I was an

The Medicines Of Medieval Medicine And The Black Death
Medieval Medicine
Medieval Medicine was basic in an era when terrible illnesses such as the Black Death were
killing nearly one third of the population. No one had any idea what caused illnesses and diseases,
such as the Black Death. There were no antibiotics or vaccines thus it was almost impossible to
cure illness and diseases.
Bloodletting was a popular method of restoring a patient s health and humors . Early surgery, often
done by barbers, occurred without anaesthesia.
Often medicines were made from herbs, spices and resins. The medicine was applied in drinks, pills,
washes, baths, rubs, poultices, purges and ointments. Which sometimes themselves contained fatal
ingredients.
Medicine used to treat some specific illnesses
Medieval Medicine to treat the Black Death
The Black Death held a mortality rate of between 30 and 40 per cent. Victims had no idea what
had caused the disease. And neither did the doctors in Medieval Times. The Black Death was
treated by lancing the buboes and applying a warm poultice of butter, onion and garlic. Various
other remedies were tried including tobacco, arsenic, lily root and even dried toad.
Medieval Medicine to treat Headache and Aching joints
Head pains were treated with sweet smelling herbs such as rose, lavender, sage, and bay. A
mixture of henbane and hemlock were applied to aching joints. Coriander was used to reduce a
fever. Medieval Medicine to treat Stomach Pains and Sickness Stomach pains and sickness were

The Positive Alternative To The Ball Culture In The Movie...
Because of these homosexual s blood related family can t guarantee them a sense of safety so they
had to leave and find other ways to survive. These homosexuals are troubled so they eventually
have meet others who are experiencing the same situations, and slowly they have formed a
subcultural group called the ball culturethe house system or ballroom community to describe an
underground LGBTsubculture in the United States in which people walk and compete for trophies
and prizes at events known as balls. In the movie Paris is Burningmany of the like minded people
were gathered under one roof to start their newly formed underground activities. They
immediately gain their acceptance by anyone who runs the houses, people who are well
respected within this community and have leadership skills to provide some sense of security to
those who are lost or pushed to the edge. In this movie people who compete for trophies in the
ball cultural often consider others as brothers, sisters, or even mothers because they have formed a
strong connection due to their similar background and stories. These houses led by mothers ,
providing guidance and support for their house children. therefore serving as alternative families
and safe places for LGBTs primarily consisting of Black and Latino queer youth. This queer
concept, such as family , offers a positive alternative to the dominant culture because it opens up a
new perspective about the ideology of family. Within this family

Childbirth And The Italian Renaissance
Childbirth and Childbearing in Renaissance Italy for upper status woman, was far different than
what childbearing is compared to today s standards. In renaissance Italy it was said that woman
only had one purpose and that purpose was to have many legitimate babies, especially for the
nobility and upper status couples. From having these babies, the family could inherit a lot of
wealth (King, M. L., 2003). This differs greatly in todays society, as now woman s primary
function is not only to produce children. Woman today are seen as equals to men, and have a
larger significance than just having their husbands children. Childbearing in the Renaissance
was not as easy or as safe as it is today either, as we will further discuss. This paper will explain
the role of child birthing and bearing in the Italian Renaissance, everything from mortality rates,
to wet nurses and this differs from today s society. As mentioned before, the main role for
woman in the renaissance was to produce children for her husband and handle household affairs,
this was proven in the document by Alberti when he had said Furthermore, I made it a rule never
to speak with her of anything but household matters or of the children. Of these matters I spoke a
great deal to her...(Famiglia, D., 1996, pg 40). Thus showing the wife s role was greatly dependent
on her house and children. It was also important, especially in the nobility, that the children the wife
gave birth to were her husband s children. Her role

Sour Patch Kids
Music is an aspect of every culture that is used to connect its people and bring the group together.
Essentially, every culture has their own unique genre of music. The question of what is good music,
is an intriguing one because the answer to this question varies from culture to culture. Even within
a culture, the musical preferences change based on the individual. For this What is good music
project, I chose the songSour Patch Kids, by Bryce Vine, because this song exemplifies a few things
that I look for when determining good music.
I first found this song a couple of summers ago, when my friend Joey showed it to me. Instantly, I
became a fan of this song and a fan of Bryce Vine s music. I chose to use this song instead of his
other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start off, I really enjoy the beat that Bryce uses on this track. This song features an upbeat
rhythm, and the lyrics compliment the beat. The entire song is supposed to deliver a nostalgic
feel to the listener. Throughout the song, He incorporates popular themes from his childhood
into the lyrics, and the music video features these themes throughout. For me, I think the
nostalgic theme works well with this song. It provides a happy, carefree feeling to the listener.
When I listen to this song, it personally brings back feeling and memories from the summer I was
shown it. Because of this, I believe the nostalgic theme of the song is a good fit. Another reason
this is good music is because of the lyrics. These lyrics break away from the typical stereotype
that is expected from rap/hip hop music. It seems that recently, few popular songs have lyrics
with meaning. Most feature lyrics that will appeal to the masses to sell the most records. This is
where Bryce Vine differentiates himself from these artists. His lyrics share stories and
experiences from his life, and are very personalized for the listener. I recently went to one of his
concerts he had in East Lansing, and when he performed Sour Patch Kids, the entire crowd was
singing along, and was brought together. This experience exemplifies what Bryce Vine s music is
all about; connecting people and delivering quality

Charles Dodgson Research Paper
Sometimes I ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast (Carroll 5). Charles
Dodgson, the author of two of the most famous children s books in the world, was a very
peculiar man. He wrote under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. Carroll is famous for writing Alice s
Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There. Much
of Dodgson s characteristics and life experiences influenced how he composed his novels. Before
Dodgson began writing novels, he wrote poems. These poems were full of nonsense language and
sentences that do not make sense. These poems influenced his writing by setting the scene for his
books. He grew up in the Victorian time period and many of the characteristics of this time period...

woman was very important because there was a queen in control. Alice is portrayed as dominant.
Dogson was the eldest son of multiple children. He was forced to learn to entertain himself and
his siblings. This caused him to have a large imagination. It is also most likely the reason he was
only comfortable speaking to children. One of the children he spoke to most often was Alice Liddell

In the play Othello, Emilia really shows this trait of loyalty to Desdemona in a numerous amounts of ways. Emilia and Desdemona have a type of relationship that can only be classified as true friendship, almost family like. In the play Othello, they both really show how much they care about being honest with each other and being protective of one another and how they will always have each others back. Since Emilia is more protective and caring for Desdemona than Iago, Emilia is more loyal to Desdemona. Honesty is prevalent in Othello by Emilia with Desdemona. Microsoft, Microsoft And Microsoft Later, US Justice Department filed antitrust charges in 1998 against the software company, claiming that Microsoft had taken over the internet browser competition and limited consumer choice. In view of antitrust regulation in the US and EU, and increasing competition in the desktop software market, Microsoftwas determined to move beyond the PC software industry. • 6. Safe Sex Behavior Predicting safe sex behaviors is complicated as it involves another person and it is often unplanned (Turchik Gidycz). Based on our analysis so far, all evidence suggests that the TPB model alone does not adequately predict safe sex behavior. However from our analysis of studies that included added variables, we know that extending the model can add to its predictableness, especially when the model includes past behavior. Two of the four articles indicated that past behaviour is a major predictor of intention and a valuable adage to the TPB model. McEachan et al found that when included, past behavior accounted for a further 25.3% to the overall predictive value of the TPB. Similarly Turchik and Gidycz found that past behavior had a solid,... Thomas, Shields and Gabbay highlight in their results that the decision to use a condom requires a separate set of considerations from those expended in previous research (2013). Furthermore researchers should not assume that one set of variables, which had relative success in predicting one type of safe sex behavior e.g. condom use, would have similar success at predicting another e.g. the pill (Turchik Cidycz). This lack of stratification disallows for an examination of the differences such considerations may present. As such, studies that have used the TPB, do not reveal much of the social cognitive processes that underlie safe sex practices. There is a clear indication that separating safe sex behaviors into partner type, age group, sex, relationship status etc. is important, as the rates of engagement and predicative variables will vary across sample groups and behavioral types (Turchik ... • 9. The Need to Renewable Sources of Energy 1.1 INTRODUCTION Energy is vital for human survival and development. Most of today s energy comes fossil fuels and Biomass. However these types of fuels are deplitable and emit green house gases e.g. CO2which leads to global warming. (See Fig 1.1).On the other hand, renewable energy is inexhaustible and does not any produce green house gases that can pollute the environment. Therefore there is need to shift to renewable sources of energy. Figure 1.1: A graph showing energy consumption and development between 1965 and 2010 (https:/ /www.google.com). Whether it is acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or country, presenting it s ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies. Although, it is a well known instrument around the world, people do not appreciate the time and effort it takes to create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it well, but what about those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars we play? There is a lot that goes into making such a magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of woodwork and craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don t realize that there is a lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of mathematics and musical theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar of great quality. • 13. Essay On Gas Chamber Gas Chamber Punishment There are only four states that still authorize the use of the gas chamber as a punishment of the Death Penalty. These states are Arizona, California, Missouri, and Wyoming. This is a barbaric way to punish someone no matter what they did. It should not happen. Even though only four states still allow it, that is four too many. It is like how Hitler put the Jewish people into gas showers at concentration camps! Hitler used hydrogen cyanide in his gas showers which is the same stuff they use in the capital punishment gas chambers. There are many ways for someone to pay for their crimes, the gas chamber should not be one of them. To start off with, the process of how these gas chambers work are simply savage. They strap the inmate to a chair with holes in the seat, then a mixture of sulfuric acid, distilled water and sodium cyanide is dumped into a container under the seat. This mix of chemicals creates hydrogen cyanide (HCN). In addition to this, the first execution of the gas chamber was the unfortunate inmate named Gee Jon, a Chinese immigrant who was a part of the Hip Sing Tong, a criminal gang who got into a bloody fight with the Bing Kong Tong gang. This would mean that the date for hunting waterfowl goes back to around 1353 1336 B.C. Over the years hunting has certainly changed. No longer do we have to use wooden bows and arrows, but shotguns. Through this upgraded machinery, we are able to bag birds faster and easier than before. Compared to way back when there has certainly been an increase in the waterfowl population of various species. There will come a time, that if an adult is serious enough about waterfowl hunting, they will get good at it. Sometimes, this may take the challenge out of the hunt, for the hunter knows that they will be able to bag what they are after (if they find ducks in the first place). In opposition to this are the hunters that have reached a certain level of mastery, but are otherwise still entertained and challenged by their hunting situation. If participation starts to decline in adults and keeps declining in youths, then there will be fewer people advocating on behalf of wildlife. It is a pity to see them managing the situation in such manner for two reasons. First, they fired me for no reason and instead of admitting their mistake like adults, they file a false case against me. Second, they had no documentations, which means the lack the basic understanding of doing business in a civil society. Some friends told me they would spit on FAST s representative s face if they were accused of such thing, but I am a mature person with command over my emotions. I ve already started making my own long terms plans for FAST, so I asked the clerk to write down those claims on the record. It would come useful in the future. After few attempts from FAST to delay the sessions in the labor court, the preliminary verdict s date was set. When I went on that date, a clerk was taking his time finding my papers and waiting for the clerk to come and read it. The Native American Marie was killed by David s uncle Frank, who is the popular and well known doctor in Bentrock. In order to cover up Frank s crime, David s father Wesley suffered both external and internal pressure from the power of grandpa Julian, the justice system, and the name of Hayden. Although Wesley works so hard to collect evidence against his brother Frank, Frank chooses to die rather than to convince his guilt. Given too much power in the hand, the Hayden family is blind to the laws and tend to manipulate the society. Thus, in order to preserve the fame of the Hayden family, the Hayden abuses too much power and ignores the laws and justice, which leads the society to the destruction. One of the biggest lesson imparted on me from Indian culture was about language. In Indian culture, a person shows respect to everyone. We call adults not related to us uncle and auntie as a sign of respect towards our elders. We even call kids older than us Chetan and Chachi in the part of India that my family comes from since they are technically our elders as well. Since the use of expletives would be considered disrespectful, it was forbidden in my family. In fact, when I was a kid, the word stupid was considered taboo. To the young me, saying stupid would be the same as saying f***. I remember one time when I was really young, I was really mad. It was so insignificant that I don t even remember what I got so angry over. So I said the word stupid while my dad. It was one of the less wise decisions I made my life. Something you should know about my dad is that he very strict and takes showing respect to everyone very seriously. So when I said stupid , he got really mad. He punished me by taking away my privileges like watching TV which was already limited because my dad believed that I should only be studying on school days. According to Salehi, recent studies show that during the last 5 years, 60 percent of the entire world s city residents have, directly or indirectly, been a victim of violence, crime, and felony. Thus, the increasing crime rate, violent or non violent, is a serious threat to all the urban societies of the world (6). This is an essential question to consider and elaborate on when trying to prove the topic of evolution. Evolution will be proven hereby by elaborating on the inner workings of the Endosymbiotic theory, Multicellular evolution and Natural selection, along with Cell specialization, replacement and Differentiation. The Endosymbiotic theory is an assumption based on experience and/or limited information about the evolution of the cell. Bacteria are one of the oldest single cellular organisms. They began to make their own food using photosynthesis which then produced enough oxygen to reshape Earth s atmosphere. This change brought upon diverse bacterial life which include clear evidence that chloroplasts and mitochondria were, at one point, crude bacterial cells. Over the years, chloroplasts and mitochondria became dependent on a host cell. After millions of years of evolution, chloroplasts and mitochondria cannot survive outside of the cell. This is the Endosymbiotic theory. Although this is labeled a theory, there is striking evidence that shows similarities in both bacteria, and mitochondria and chloroplasts. They all have their own DNA (separate from the nucleus), and they both use this DNA to produce proteins and enzymes for their functions. Multicellular evolution has reshaped Earth s ecology and is incredibly critical in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this case, the witness may have misinterpreted the scene as a result of this effect. For example, the criminal justice system regularly relies on eyewitness identification when a crime has been committed (Sporer, 2001). There are a few themes that are presented throughout the whole novel: correspondence, sexual freedom, and ideal womanhood. Elizabeth Whitman has been an icon of American history since the 19th centurybecause of her bravery and contempt for the caged position of women in society. It is stated that the tombstone of Elizabeth Whitman is a popular tourist attraction; her grave was a popular destination for New England travelers, who beat paths to the far corner of Danvers s Old South Cemetery through the entire nineteenth century. The epistolary style of The Coquette allows the reader to see both sides of the story and see things that might not otherwise be apparent. For instance, in The Coquette, we are following the flirtatious excursions of Eliza and occasionally we get an insight into what General Sanford s views. The trickery of Sanford is hidden until we read his letter to Mr. Deighton where he states, but I fancy this young lady is a coquette; and if so, I shall avenge my sex by retaliating the mischiefs she mediates against us. (Coquette, location 407) The theme of correspondence becomes apparent from this point because it shows the reader that women can be naГЇve to the intentions of others. This plays out throughout the novel in many ways through the actions of Eliza and the reactions of Boyer and Sanford. Eliza spends much of her time writing to friends, attempting to persuade them that she is not a coquette. This is where the theme of sexual freedom and liberation comes into play. The Coquette is flooded with examples of sexuality and sexual repression. The biggest argument given by the novel is that women should be sexually pure and have no desires, as is the definition of the ideal Court Lady presented in The Book of the Courtier published by Balclesar Castiglione in 1523. The small percentage who did receive education, such as Thurgood Marshall, often studied in informal and sometimes aggressive settings. Some were forced to educate themselves completely. • 39. Effects Of Reading Instruction On The Literacy Development... The Effects of Reading Instruction on Students of Low Socioeconomic Status Amelia K.L. Reynolds Edmond, Oklahoma Abstract This paper explores related research in aspects of language acquisition, specifically, reading instruction and its effect on students who live in low socioeconomic environments. We will review the methods of explicit phonics and whole language to examine what, if any, is the more advantageous method of reading instruction for students who live in poverty. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate the impacts of specific reading instruction on the literacy development of children and how socioeconomics restricts these impacts. The research reviewed was collected from peer review journals using the Central Search feature on the UCO Chambers Library website. The majority of the researcher s findings came from EBSCOhost Education Research Complete and JSTOR: Journal Storage. Given the findings of this literature review, research suggests that explicit phonics instruction, when embedded in a whole language classroom, promotes growth in literacy skills among young children. Research suggests that multisensory phonics, based on Orton Gillingham Approach, promotes literacy growth for students who are at risk, however, its impact within a whole language classroom are undetermined. This literature review suggests that multisensory phonics should be utilized in a whole language classroom to determine if its use promotes growth in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consider that the row player s (Alice s) payoff is the first in the matrix and the column player s (Bob s) payoff is the second. Now we need to find out whether the payoffs in each of the cells and see whether it is a Nash equilibriumor not. In game theory, we would call this situation a prisoner s dilemma, which is a non zero sum game in which two players each have two options whose outcome depends on the choice made by the other player at the same time. The prisoner s dilemma is considered one of the most popular examples of game theory. The prisoner s dilemma demands that personal interest is more appealing. No matter what the other person says in the interrogation room, both players are better off confessing rather than saying silent. But the problem here is, if both Alice and Bob confess then they will be faced with a much harsher sentence than if either Alice or Bob cooperate or defect. As Scheve writes, game theorists have determined that confessing is always the answer for both parties in this case. The reason for this is that each party must assume that the ... I ve witnessed and experienced my family slowly falling apart and all my parents hard work get taken away in heartbeat. I had no control over this and it affected my life significantly. Even though people who were alive during the dust bowl were greatly affected, the ones who were drastically affected were the children. We experienced our families hard work vanish in a heartbeat, we were psychologically, mentally, and emotionally affected and experienced our families fall apart. Families during the dust bowl suffered from not having enough money to support their families. I would watch grandma and grandpa struggle everyday, but they would always manage to keep a smile on their face for uncle Joe and I. Conceiving of power, as Nietzsche puts it, is more of a deceitful process. Nietzsche s process might be more for someone who is looked at with little power. NU ID: 001884300 The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me. First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement. This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also accompanied by negative social pressure. Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of genetic testing. If I was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Medicines Of Medieval Medicine And The Black Death Medieval Medicine Medieval Medicine was basic in an era when terrible illnesses such as the Black Death were killing nearly one third of the population. No one had any idea what caused illnesses and diseases, such as the Black Death. There were no antibiotics or vaccines thus it was almost impossible to cure illness and diseases. Bloodletting was a popular method of restoring a patient s health and humors . Early surgery, often done by barbers, occurred without anaesthesia. Often medicines were made from herbs, spices and resins. The medicine was applied in drinks, pills, washes, baths, rubs, poultices, purges and ointments. Which sometimes themselves contained fatal ingredients. Medicine used to treat some specific illnesses Medieval Medicine to treat the Black Death The Black Death held a mortality rate of between 30 and 40 per cent. • 52. Childbirth And The Italian Renaissance Childbirth and Childbearing in Renaissance Italy for upper status woman, was far different than what childbearing is compared to today s standards. In renaissance Italy it was said that woman only had one purpose and that purpose was to have many legitimate babies, especially for the nobility and upper status couples. From having these babies, the family could inherit a lot of wealth (King, M. L., 2003). This differs greatly in todays society, as now woman s primary function is not only to produce children. Woman today are seen as equals to men, and have a larger significance than just having their husbands children. Childbearing in the Renaissance was not as easy or as safe as it is today either, as we will further discuss. This paper will explain the role of child birthing and bearing in the Italian Renaissance, everything from mortality rates, to wet nurses and this differs from today s society. As mentioned before, the main role for woman in the renaissance was to produce children for her husband and handle household affairs, this was proven in the document by Alberti when he had said Furthermore, I made it a rule never to speak with her of anything but household matters or of the children. Of these matters I spoke a great deal to her...(Famiglia, D., 1996, pg 40). Thus showing the wife s role was greatly dependent on her house and children. Throughout the song, He incorporates popular themes from his childhood into the lyrics, and the music video features these themes throughout. For me, I think the nostalgic theme works well with this song. It provides a happy, carefree feeling to the listener. When I listen to this song, it personally brings back feeling and memories from the summer I was shown it. Because of this, I believe the nostalgic theme of the song is a good fit. Another reason this is good music is because of the lyrics. These lyrics break away from the typical stereotype that is expected from rap/hip hop music. It seems that recently, few popular songs have lyrics with meaning. Most feature lyrics that will appeal to the masses to sell the most records. This is where Bryce Vine differentiates himself from these artists. His lyrics share stories and experiences from his life, and are very personalized for the listener.
