Most children with syncope do not have serious diseases and their prognosis is generally benign
(Khongphatthanayothin, 2014)
History, presentation and physical exam are not consistent with syncope
Assessment:
H.R. is a 16y.o. adolescent female K/C of focal epilepsy. She is on monotherapy of Keppra XR 2000
mg nightly. Presented to the University of Michigan Pediatric Neurology Clinic, for follow up of her
epilepsy. No any new complain, she has remained seizure free since March 2017 on her current dose
of Keppra. Vitally stable and her examinations are unremarkable. Last vitamin D result was low, so we
started her on vitamin D 1000 units once daily. Her most recent EEG (Aug, 2017) was normal.
Plan:
1. Continue the same epilepsy medication regimen:
Keppra XR 2000 mg once nightly P.O (there is room to further optimize her dose of Keppra in the
future for breakthrough seizures)
Rescue medication: Diastat 17.5 mg rectally (for seizures 5 minutes)
2. Obtain labs at the next visit: CBC, CMP AND

Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System
The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the
Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good
government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence,
friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the
system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in
which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up
with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two
options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties
have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote
for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. The Republicans ideology is American
conservatism, which involves support of free market capitalism, free enterprise, a strong national
defense, and de regulation and restrictions on labor unions. The Democrats ideology is mostly
centrists an progressives, whose philosophy is of modern liberalism which advocates social and ...

recent survey in which it was found that 36 percent of Republicans thought that liberal policies are a

just goes to show how the dispute between the two parties has led to the members of those parties
being unable to understand each other, let alone work

Throughout The History Of Mankind, The Greatest Inventors
Throughout the history of mankind, the greatest inventors were the few who paved their own roads to
success and thought outside the box. Orville and Wilbur Wright were no exceptions to this. In their
quest for manned mechanical flight these two men would shock the world of flight with their new
provoking ideas. The wright brothers would go on to design the first sustainable automated craft. The
Wright brothers were arguably the greatest innovators of the 20th century and would go on to
transform man s dream of flying and have a long lasting effect on flying machines a In 1867 Wilbur
wright was born the third of seven wright children. Wilbur was born in Millville Indiana but would not
stay for long. Wilbur s father, Milton, was a minister ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Orville had dropped out of school the brothers would start the begging s of their innovative
careers. In 1889, the brothers opened a printing business. This may not seem like much but they ended
up designing and building their own printing press they used for their shop. The wright brothers
printing store did well for them they mostly dealt with advertisements and a few newspapers here and
there. Despite the success of the store they desired more than printing as it became relatively boring to
them. It wasn t the idea of printing that was so exciting it was building the printing press that Orville
enjoyed the most. In the 1890s bicycles were starting to get very popular and Orville and Wilbur were
infatuated with them. Orville went even as far entering local bike races. The brothers found a new
passion and in 1893 they would go on to open their own bicycle shop. This shop mostly sold bicycles
but also had a repair shop where they would fix them up if needed. Most of the bikes they sold were
bought from outside companies but they would end up making a small amount of them on their own in
the shop. The bicycle shop did well enough to relocate to a larger location but 1895. As interested as
they were in the bicycle business it wasn t long lived and would end up closing in 1908, During these
years working in their bicycle shop is when they really took on their interest in flying. In the 1890s
there was a man who would fly gliders by the name of Otto

An Analysis Of Astrophil And Stella By Sir Philip Sidney
How can we record a love so deep it lasts a life time? In Astrophil and Stella, Sir Philip Sidney does
just this, creating a chronological sequence of 108 sonnets, depicting the longing and futile adoration
of the speaker Astrophil towards his love interest Stella. It has been widely noted that the sonnets may
be a reflection of Sidney s own life, after his infamous love of Penelope Devereux following their
meeting in 1575, which is said to have lasted through her marriage to another man, and up until his
untimely death in 1583. Sonnet 31, the sonnet I will be mainly discussing in this essay, is undeniably
the most famous of Sidney s sonnets. This sonnet utilises Sidney s favourite Italian rhyme scheme
ABBA CDCD EE, paired with his preferred Italian sonnet style, including an octave, followed by a
sestet, and a turn in line 8. This writing style not native to the English Language displays Sidney s
mastery in conveying his emotional anguish a skill which elevates him as a loved and dearly missed
poet of the Elizabethan era. The poem employs iambic pentameter, showing Sidney s marriage of
typically English meter with a continental writing style, which creates a beautifully complex narrative
of a pining love. The strict meter creates a steady and somewhat lyrical rhyme scheme, which adds a
romantic essence of sound to the sonnet, almost as if Astrophil is attempting to serenade Stella
throughout the collection of poetry, unfortunately, to no avail. Sonnet 31

The Gentle Giant Research Paper
Gentle Giants Have you ever thought of a shark being gentle? The whale shark is known as a gentle
giant because they do not attack humans, it would be very uncommon. Scientists still have not
discovered many others, as they may say. The whale shark has many very cool characteristics that help
them live their life. Whale sharks feed from what is called a Filter Feeder . A filter feeder, according to
page 2, strain the zooplankton. The article states, As it cruises through the ocean, water flows
continuously into its mouth. Filter pads in its throat strain out the zooplankton, and the filtered water is
expelled through the shark s gills... (2).This shows how a filter feeder works and what it is used for.

The Battle of Chancellorsville Essay
Introduction
The battle of Chancellorsville was a battle that was fought for nine days from April 29 to May 6, 1863
as part of the Civil War. To be more precise, the battle of Chancellorsville took place in the vicinity of
Fredericksburg where other two battles took place. The Confederate army was led by General Robert
E. Lee, while the Union army was led by Major General Joseph Hooker. Impressively, General
Hooker s army was composed with as many as 130,000 soldiers. The Union army was very well
trained, equipped, and had all odds in favor. The Union army was two times as big as that of General
Robert E. Lee, whose army was composed of merely 60,000 65,000 Confederate soldiers. Of these,
30,000 soldiers were from General Stonewall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hooker (at the time) served under General George B. McClellan, he did not get the promotion or the
opportunity to command the soldiers of the Union also known as the Army of the Potomac. The
position was instead given to Major General Ambrose Burnside by President Abraham Lincoln. Major
General Ambrose Burnside initially rejected the offer because of his loyalty to his friend Major
General George B. McClellan and because he did not feel confident in commanding such a large
force.3 Despite his spoken concern of inability to lead, he assumed command of the Army of the
Potomac because he dislike Col. Hooker, who was next to take command. Only month later, Major
General Ambrose Burnside was removed from his command of the Army of the Potomac due to his
poor decision making during the battle of Fredericksburg. After these events, Col. Hooker was then
promoted to General Joseph Hooker and placed in command of the Army of the Potomac.
General Joseph Hooker was born in Hadley, Massachusetts in November 13, 1814. He was always
known for his character in caring for his soldiers. He improved the soldier s living conditions,
clothing, meals, weapons, and even leave. However, one characteristic that followed him for many
years was his drinking problem. Perhaps, given all the success and recognition he was getting from his
war actions and performance in

The Influence And Uses Of The Media
Society: HCI has affected this age more than some other in light of the headway available these days,
it has changed the way people encounter their lives, especially for blocked customers and people with
needs. You would now be able to use substance to voice or the other way, focus on that person who

event of this is the time when I made a trek to Turkey. The servers in a burger joint we went to, used

The Epidemic Of West Nile
WEST NILE ENCEPHALITIS

Instructor: Mrs. April Champa Date: 10/17/2016
West Nile Encephalitis is a West Nile Virus that causes inflammation of the brain. The viral family s
name is flaviviridae and genera flavivirus (Tortora. Funke. Case, 2010, p 376). The flavivirus genome
consists of positive RNA single strand. However, the virus has acquired several mutations and
research is ongoing (Tortora, Funke, Case, 2010 p 223). West Nile virus is an arthropod borne virus
and is transmitted to human beings through the bite of infected mosquitoes. It is the leading cause of
domestically acquired arthropod borne disease in the United States. (Nicole, 2014 para.1). According
to the World Health Organization (2011), Approximately 80% of people who are infected will not
show any symptoms. However, less than 1% of the people who are infected will show severe
symptoms resulting to a serious neurological illness like encephalitis. (Center for Disease Control
(2015) West Nile Virus was first isolated in West Nile District of Uganda in 1937. In 1950 s, there was
an outbreak of West Nile Virus in Egypt and Israel. (Tortora, Funke. Case, 2010, p 223) About 50% of
children in Egypt have West Nile Virus. It is also common in the Middle East, where some suggest
that Alexander the Great died from WNE. Moreover, its effect is also in Asia and Africa. The first case
of West Nile Virus in the United States was 1999 and was implicated by several

Essay On Limitations Of Self Report
Limitations of Self Report Data
Abstract
Self report data may be obtained from a test or an interview format of a self report study. The format
of self report study that will be used to discuss limitations of self report data will be a test and a
personality disorder test will be used as an example. For specific example answers for the test I
completed the results all rated low for all personality disorders. Limitations arise from decreased
reliability and validity and issues with credibility of responses due to response bias. Content validity,
construct validity and criterion related validity as well as test retest reliability will be presented. The
forms of response biases that will be discussed are social desirability, ... Show more content on

Construct Validity
Construct validity is the extent to which a test measures a theoretical construct (Dyce, n.d.); that is,
can the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test measure the presence of the different behaviours
described by the diagnostic criteria for the different personality disorders? There are two subcategories
of construct validity: convergent validity and discriminant validity. In the case of a personality
disorder test convergent validity is the degree to which the test that should be theoretically related to a
behaviour associated with a given personality disorder is in fact related. This form of validity is an
example in which results should be taken in a person s context or in conjunction with results of other
forms of testing. For example, Q11 of the 4degreez.com Personality Disorder Test (n.d.) Do you have
a difficult time relating to others? (p. 1). If a person s contacts are of at a lower education level their
language or ideas may or may not be understood. For discriminant validity it is the degree to which
the test that should not be theoretically related to a behaviour associated with a given personality
disorder is in fact not related. No information was available to know how the 4degreez.com
Personality Disorder Test faired on testing for construct validity. Howard (1994) claims that the
construct validity coefficients of self report testing are superior to those of

Testing The Attraction Effect On Rich Perceptual Stimuli
Everyone has experienced a situation where they wonder if the person they are getting into a taxi with
is an approachable person. Let s face it, when you need a ride somewhere and the driver pulls up to
the curb, you get in, and worry about the rest later. If you were given a choice between two drivers
when the taxis pulled up, and both drivers were equally approachable with very similar attributes, how
would you choose which driver s door to open? Researchers in the marketing industry have studied
this attraction effect for over three decades, and found that the placement of a decoy (asymmetrically
dominated alternative) in the middle of a choice set has the strength to influence consumer choices.
Testing the attraction effect on rich perceptual stimuli (like a taxi driver) yields many answers, and
personal differences may distort the decoy s intended purpose. In light of a decoy s power to influence
choice on items containing contextual attributes (for example televisions, cars, toothpaste), I felt the
purpose of my study should focus on whether a decoy holds the same power to influence consumers
with items that are presented perceptually (like a movie, taste test, or a person providing a service),
which are void of relevant underlying context.
Research on the decoy effect (asymmetrical dominance, or attraction effect) has held its own in the
world of marketing, and was introduced by Huber, Payne, and Puto (1982) when they demonstrated
that the choices people make

The Violation Of Human Rights
After reviewing the Human Rights Watch website, www.hrw.org, I decided to write my paper on the
violation of the human rights of people with disabilities. I have a passion for working with people that
have disabilities and I think so much more should be done for them. The United States have made
great strides in being respectful for their human rights and it is time to see the rest of the world step up
and take responsibility. There is also much more needed to be done in the United States but we have
come so far. I decided to use the human rights violation of people with disabilities because I want to
work with them in the future and it is important to know what hardships they face around the world. I
need to help be a voice for them. The first article I read about human rights with people with
disabilities was titled We Need to Stop Treating People with Disabilities as Less Than Human, by
Shantha Rau Barriga. In this article, Barriga traveled the world to speak with disabled people. She saw
a five year old girl dressed in rags and chained to a tree with chains because her family thought she
was possessed. Unfortunately, this happens far too often because people with disabilities are seen as
unhuman. Often times around the world, children with disabilities are put in institutions and
sometimes takes straight from the mothers after birth the relieve them of the burden of a child with
disabilities. However, having some form of disability is not all that rare: one in

Comparing Zeffirelli s Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet has been redone many times by different producers who
have changed parts of the play to attract a newer audience, versions of Shakespeare s play are done by
Franco Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann, both have similarities and differences that make them unique.
The version of Romeo and Juliet that is better is Zeffirelli s because the Director did a good job when
it came to mirroring the original play, which didn t ruin it. In Shakespeare s original play, the prologue
tells the audience facts of Romeo and Juliet in a poetic manner which would help tell the audience if
there would be violence romance and drama. The prologue of Zefferelli s version he focuses more on

In Zeffirelli s version act scene I played out like the original play by having the characters using
swords and dressed in the tights while Baz Luhrmann s version has them dressed in jeans and using
guns instead of swords but Zeffirelli s versions stays true to the play by having the setting mirror the
play by having the setting in the 14th century, which was when the play was written while Luhrmann s
the setting took place in a modern gas station in which had nothing to do with the play. Luhrmann s
version changes who starts the street fight because in Zefferelli s version the Capulets start the fight by
tripping the Montagues while in Luhrmann s version the Montagues start the fight on accident and are
afraid so they fight instead. Zeffirelli s version of Romeo and Juliet is the better version because it
focuses more on the original play like the setting dialogue and characters, which enhances the movie
because it gives a more nostalgic

Heuristic And Bias Of Decision Making
Heuristic and bias in decision making
If I was given A$50,000 to invest on a portfolio of stocks, what should I choose as a starter without
any experience on shares?
According to van der Pligt (2001) the study of human decision making is an interdisciplinary project
including economics, statistics as well as psychology, and moreover, decision making behavior
involving almost all branches of psychology. After three weeks simulation of trading on Australian
Stock Exchange, in retrospect, I amazingly find there are substantial bias impacts on my decision with
respect to choosing, selling and keeping stocks.
The following table lists the most fundamental heuristic or bias I had during the time I made decisions
for stocks:
Table 1: Decision Heuristic/Bias

Modern Information Technology Has Developed A Way For People
Modern information technology has developed a way for people to receive support from others.
Online social support is expanding as the general public begins to feel comfortable using online social
groups to seek support from others. Online social groups have extensive benefits for users who are not
able to or do not desire to attend face to face communication support. These groups have emerged
within health care as a result of individuals needs. These individuals need to know more about their
health conditions have driven many health groups to develop. Plenty of these online support groups
are in the form of blogs, such as mom blogs, bodybuilder blogs, health blogs, and healthy eating
blogs. Furthermore, there are also certain online support areas known as social media that allow
people to share personal experiences or share current events in their life. Common examples of this
include: Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. At the present time, in North America alone, it is estimated
that there are currently over 250 million people who use the internet. Individuals may utilize the
internet for an extensive amount of reasons, such as information gathering, entertainment, and
personal use. The idea of online support groups is relatively modern, having been around only for a
decade or so. However, these social groups have become a method to social support and positive
health outcomes. Presently, there is a rich assortment of social support groups on the internet,

8th Grade Algebra
Eighth Grade Algebra 1 Advice Hi, and welcome to Algebra! I know that right now this class seems
difficult and confusing, but it does eventually make sense. It is my job to prepare you for the coming

They are a valuable recourse when you just don t understand something, however even though just
getting the answers from them sounds like a good idea, it really doesn t give you the information that
you need to help you in the long run. Second: Professor Burger is going to be your best friend.

Mrs. Ladner teaches to factor called Big X Bottoms Up that uses either the X2+BX+C or

multiply A and C (if there is no A it means that A=1), and put it in the top of the X. Put B in the
underside of the X. Factor AC until you find the pair that equals B when either added or subtracted to

The Simpson s is about the satiric adventures of a working class family in the city of Springfield. The
Simpsons is an example of an American sitcom. A sitcom is situation comedy, which is when the same
setting and same characters appear in every episode. Sitcoms surfaced in the 1950 s in America
showing the ideal family. Slowly sitcoms started to show the reality of life and dealt with social issues
such as divorce and unemployment. Sitcoms have become very popular because people could relate to
the program, since they show problems that happen in every day life. In this essay, I am going to
analyze The Simpsons and demonstrate how it follows the conventions of the sitcom genre.

This is makes the audience skeptical and appears unrealistic. She goes against her stereotype because
she is going against the norms of an eight year old girl. Later on in this episode, Bart gets a tattoo.
This goes against the norms of a young boy, because you rarely see someone getting a tattoo that
young. It adds comedic value as well. The tattoo parlor is being satirized because they are shown as
irresponsible for allowing a child to get a tattoo. Homer is shown as an unsupportive father because he
falls asleep when his children are performing on stage. He should be cheering and watching, but he
goes against his stereotype, which also adds comedic value. Marge is the only one in this episode who
does not go against her stereotype. She acts like a mother by getting angry with Bart and watches the
school production and cheers on her children.
The family as a unit is stereotyped. The father brings in the money while the mother stays at home.
The kids go to school. On the other hand, they have problems that are not ideal for a family. They
have a son who s failing in school, and they have financial issues. However, at the end of each episode
they are shown as happy even after the hardships. Even though they re not perfect they still love each
other. In the episode Homer Bad Man , the family sticks together when Homer is accused of sexual

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Psychology
Social Psychology Assignment 1 There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to
describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is
done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher
observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be
interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the same test to the same
subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the
simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are
that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not
as good for prediction and description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own
opinion on what is right and wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical
measure of two or more variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation
coefficient assesses how well you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when
the value of one variable increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example
height and weight, the more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the
value of one variable increases it is associated with the decrease of the other

Rhetorical Analysis of the Ugly Truth About Beauty

Rehtorical Analsysis of The Ugly Truth About Beauty There is a cliché quote that people say, Beauty
is in the eye of beholder. But in the essay The Ugly Truth About Beauty (1998) Dave Barry argues
about how women who spend countless hours on their so called beauty whereas men seem not to care.
Barry uses juxtaposition and exaggeration to poke fun at men and women behavior and shed light on
the harm that the beauty industry is doing. When Barry argues his point of his essay he addresses both
genders, but more specifically teenage to middle age men and women, but he writes about it in a
humorous and light hearted manner. In the essay, Barry juxtaposes men ... Show more content on

As for the oppsoite sex, women, would spend on average five thousand hours on their fingernails,
which in most cases go unnoticed. The only reason that women care this much about their appearance
is because of the standards that the beauty industry has set, which is very difficult to actually achieve
and causes problems for the health of women. Such as annerexia, depression and other serious health
concerns. Not only does Barry uses juxtapositon he also use exaggeration to argue his views. Barry
uses exaggeration to add a sesnse of humor to the essay. He exaggerates the Barbie doll proportions
giving her a height of seven feet and eighty one pounds with fifty three of those pounds being bosoms.
He also exaggerates mens complacency with their apperance even if their faces cause heart failure in
cattle at a range of 300 yards, and when their faces sag and their noses bloat to the size of eggplants
and their eyebrows grow together to form what appears to be a giant forehead dwelling tropical
caterpillar. With these exaggerations he shows how women are willing to try and be like something
that is very hard to achieve, even though they have already achieved their goals in the eyes of men and
others. He shows how men are careless about their appearance, even though they may look
horrendous; they care more about manly activities. As you can see Barry really used juxtaposition and

Essay on The Metropolitan Man
The Metropolitan Man
In Georg Simmel s essay, The Metropolis and Mental Life he states, the psychological foundation,
upon which the metropolitan individuality is erected, is the intensification of emotional life due to the
swift and continuous shift and external and internal stimuli (Highmore 41). In essence Simmel is
suggesting that the continuous activity of the metropolis creates a shield protecting him from outer
stimuli that would exhaust his emotions. But in doing so, his sense of emotional expression becomes
unresponsive. Upon examining the metropolitan man Simmel deduces that metropolitan life, thus,
underlies a heightened awareness and a predominance of intelligence (Simmel 2). But also leaves the

urban life, with each crossing of the street, with the tempo and multiplicity of economic, occupational

sensory foundations of psychic life (2). The metropolis demands a different type of consciousness than
does rural life. The metropolitan man s life and continually speeding up with little time for emotional
growth. The emphasis here rests highly on the intellect and developing a keen understanding of
academics and societal regularities, such as art, literature, and fashion. The pace of rural living is
much more lethargic. Consequently more time is spent developing deep meaningful relationships with
people. As Simmel also points out, a person in the city could spend their whole life not knowing their
neighbor, while in the rural areas that would be completely unheard of (6). In essence, individuals in
the city rely heavily in the intellect while those in rural areas put a great deal of emphasis on
relationships, both of these are means of survival. Over time there has been an evolution of the
metropolitan man. In Simmel s essay, The Conflict in Modern Culture he traces this progress form the

Yet the kouroi, which is a style made during the archaic period, reveal further realism, obviously
depicting that the human structure was more important than the overall events that took place during
this period of ancient greek art. The kouros, plural for kouroi, was the depiction of young men, going
from the basic to those that were almost exact demonstrations. These stylistic depictions were used to
indicate feelings and emotions using figurative gestures. For example, Apollo, a god in Ancient Greek
art, compatible with many sculptures of the perpetual youth known as the kouroi, is rendered across
the Archaic period showing the deified male physique, constructed on orders of segments and
symbolizing the ability of somatic allure. The artists that created the sculpture of Apollo really put
emphasis on the figurative gesture of the torso and arms, revealing a sentimental posture of what he
stands for as an idealistic god. Although Apollo expressed the advancement of the likeness of human
composition throughout the archaic stage, the young male kouros were not soldiers, they were
emblematics of the worshiper that were contributing a more indefinite and inaudible assistance to a
god.The idea the artist had was to not only show off the ideal male form, but to also allow for a
sculpture that in a way represented no other than a mere mortal , for those who saw the figure as an

Edmund of King Lear as Nietzsche s Free Spirit
In King Lear, Shakespeare creates a brilliant tragedy whose plot is driven primarily by its villains. Of
these, Edmund stands alone as a man who makes his fortune, surrounded by those who seize fortune
only when it is handed to them. Shakespeare s ability to create a vivid, living character in the space of
a few lines of speech triumphs in Edmund, who embodies a totally different moral system than that of
Shakespeare s era. Three centuries later, Friedrich Nietzsche s philosophy of the Free Spirit would
respect these values.
Like Edmund, Nietzsche s unorthodox views have been deemed villainous ever since the time they
were written. The Free Spirit is defined not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Edmund, these characteristics are obvious he questions the world created by men, but at the same
time reflects that he is bound to Nature. Nietzsche likewise saw the rigid values of Christianity as false
ones, clumsily laid over man s true, changing nature. The hierarchy of the good, however, is not fixed
and identical at all times. If someone prefers revenge to justice, he is moral by the standard of an
earlier culture, yet by the standard of the present culture he is immoral. 1
When my dimensions are as well compact,
My mind as generous, and my shape as true,
As honest madam s issue? Why brand they us
With base? with baseness? bastardy? base, base?
Who, in the lusty stealth of nature, take

Edmund continues by expressing his outrage at the labeling of a man who is just as rightly made up as
another, but is forced into a second rate status by a society ruled by the dull and stale. Here he also
acknowledges his humanity, but distinguishes himself from others by a quality of fierceness.
Again, Nietzsche s ideas shine through. Edmund cannot conceive why his station must be defined for
him, when he is a fiercer human than others. Nietzsche s Will to Power follows this reasoning closely.

Review Of Atul Gawande s The New York Times Bestseller...
In the New York Times bestseller Being Mortal, surgeon and author Atul Gawande tackles just what
may be the most difficult challenge of his profession, learning how to handle the end of life process.
Throughout his book, he recites the stories of several individuals, in which the trajectory from a state
of independence to one of death can easily be traced in each. Although Gawande does acknowledge
that death is inevitable, he emphasizes that individuals of society, especially those that work in the
health care field, have not yet learned how to deal with this slow process well, if at all. Surprisingly,
he does not blame patients or the intrinsic difficulty that death itself brings, but in fact is relentless in
the criticism of his fellow physicians, stating we ve been wrong about what our job is in medicine. We
think our job is to ensure health and survival...it is to enable well being. (Gawande, Atul. Being Mortal
pp.259) This paper aims to further analyze Gawande s position on end of life care, understand why
palliative care must play a larger role than interventional medicine during a patient s last few weeks
and determine whether a physician s role during this crucial time should be that of a healer or a
sustainer of the soul. Before we can discuss palliative care, interventional medicine and the role of
physicians in both of these settings, it is integral to understand Gawande s position surrounding end of

The City Of Ancient Greece
The city states of ancient Greece were at constant strife with each other. They utterly detested each
other and were solely independent. However, many factors unified the Greeks, loosely, at all times,
and they even brought the Greeks together at times. These factors came to be because of their
similarities of traditions and beliefs. Language, religion, and athletics were all results of these factors.
Language unified because everyone would understand what was being said by anyone, and athletics
would gather the people to one place, allowing for discussion and chances of treaties being made.
Also, Religion unified because the Greeks all believed and feared common gods and goddesses.
Language played its role in a passive way, but it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this would be the Tower of Babel. In this time period of history, the world was not
divided into nations. All the people of the world were all in one place and spoke one common
language. They tried to build a tower to reach the heavens and make a name for themselves, but God
did not approve of this. Therefore, he decided to confuse all the languages of the people, creating
many different languages. All of a sudden, the people could not understand each other because they all
spoke different languages, resulting in the people scattering all over the world. This shows us how
important it is to have a common language, and no matter how unimportant it looks, it is one of the
biggest contributing factors to unifying a nation or civilization.
Along with a common language, the ancient Greeks had a common alphabet. There were two main
forms of the alphabet, but they only had slight differences like the dialect of the Greeks. This was also
important in unifying Greece because a common alphabet also meant that communication through
letters was possible between city states, and literature, history, and knowledge could be passed down
from generation to generation. All the knowledge and ideas from famous philosophers, such as Plato,
Socrates, Pythagoras, and Aristotle, could be passed down in history, and poems, stories, religious
information, history, and plays could be passed down. This meant that their

to inhabitants both in, and around the body of water. Those affected in the water may be subjected to a
decrease in dissolved oxygen levels, making it harder for the animals to breath. The levels of acidity in
the water may increase, causing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sliva and Dudley Williams gathered information that with increased urban land use, there were
increased chemical fluxes, and their data they gathered from increased agricultural land use disagreed
with the results of other similar studies. They determined major trends in water quality and where
pollution could potentially be derived from (Sliva Dudley Williams, 2001). It is a known fact that
unnecessary amounts of lawn fertilizer, containing nitrogen and phosphorus, are commonly used, and
result in pollution of the Chesapeake Bay. This occurs through runoff. Not all of the nutrients from
runoff get transported directly to the Bay. Overtime, some are absorbed into the ground, where they
mix with groundwater, and later meets up with the Bay. For example, in a stream near Baltimore,
scientists discovered that 56% of the nutrients in the water came from lawn fertilizer alone
(Chesapeake Bay Program, 2011). Nitrogen and phosphorus are not only the primary nutrients in lawn
fertilizer, they are also the primary nutrients required to sustain aquatic biological productivity, in the
correct moderation. In freshwater ecosystems, the growth of phytoplankton and algae are influenced
by a surplus of nitrogen and phosphorus. Aquatic grasses living under this excess growth are then
inhibited from growing, eventually leading towards grass bed loss, due to the lack of sunlight
available. Lack of sunlight results in a lack of photosynthesis. Unlike the more

Unauthorized Practice of Law Essay
In order to complete this assignment we must first recognize what Unauthorized Practice of Law is
when it comes to paralegals. There is no set definition on what UPL is but as a paralegal there are
guidelines to go by. Some ways they can violate the practice of law would be an individual holding
themselves as an attorney when they are paralegals, giving legal advice as an attorney would, or
representing clients in a court of law. All of the previous are violations and can be subject to several
disciplinary actions [ (Unauthorized Practice of Law, 2010) ]. It has been named illegal due to the
damages on may suffer due to bad legal advice. In some states it is considered a criminal offense and
could be given a jail sentence. With that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now this one is a bit trickier than the other. To give proper advice would be giving legal advice. Mrs.
Smith would have to know the ins and outs of divorce when it comes to adultery and Polly legally
cannot supply the answer. Once again, Polly has the responsibility to let Mrs. Smith know that she is
not a lawyer and she can t give any legal advice. Information that involves the grounds for any law
suit of any matter is considered legal advice. Although Mrs. Smith may feel that a simple yes or no
will not hurt Polly, it will. One thing Polly can do that is not UPL is to advise Mrs. Smith to seek legal
representation [ (Orlik, 2007) ]. This action can save Polly a lot of hassles and the chance of getting
disciplined. Now the reasoning behind prohibiting the unauthorized practice of law is not to hurt
lawyers and anyone legally practicing law. These were put into place to help from personally
damaging cases and individuals alike. What if you were given advice and used it to help with your
case. Then come to find out that this advice or information was not at all correct and cost you your
case. You would be very adamant to return to the individual to find out what had happened. Then you
also find out that this person was not legally able to practice law in any manner. You would be furious
and would want this person to pay for his/her actions. This is an example of why it is very important
why someone that is not authorized

The Dark Side Of The Snow Falls
While the snow falls behind the rusted bars, the King is laughing alone in the dungeon. His guffaws
echo back by the moist cobblestone and bounce off to nothing but the warm body of the dead on the
bloody wooden table. In contrast to the sticky red is a shiny crown and a bubbling matte bottle. As the
cold breeze turns into a gale, the King picks up the bottle with sickly sweet poison and pours down
into his throat. Once upon a time, there was a young man who could control temperatures of anything
with his mind, but he never revealed his secret to anyone in the village. He just wanted to be a normal
person like everyone else and protect his quiet life. Whenever there was a chance, he would go to the
garden behind the village. Watching fields of baby s breath dance with the lead of the cold breeze and
waiting until every single of them is changing into orange grabs are the things he like to do the most.
He liked to stay in the garden rather than helping his grandparents farm, but he would always use his
ability to secretly support the plantation. Day after day, the huge field of crops grew better and better
even with no one but two elderlies watching. In the beginning, everything went nice and smooth and
two elderlies were even giving out the harvests to others, but as the time went by, the villagers began
to question the family. Like how good time usually don t last long, the rumors about magical farming
skills begin to pass on to outsider and finally the goes into the

  • 4. Describe The Evolution Of The Two-Party System The election in 1796 was the first to have two major political parties, the Federalists and the Democratic Republicans. The Federalists believed themselves to be friends of order and good government, while the Democratic Republicans believed themselves to be supporters of independence, friends to equal rights, and warm advocates of free elective government. These two parties began the system that we now use to elect new presidents. Lamentably, we now have ended up with a system in which there is no compromise, only two parties fighting each other continually, and where we end up with only two dissatisfactory choices. The two party system is a system where there are only two options to vote for because only parties with a lot of people have a chance to be noticed, other parties have too few people to get a chance to win the election. Nowadays the two parties most people vote for are the Democrat party and the Republican party. • 6. An Analysis Of Astrophil And Stella By Sir Philip Sidney How can we record a love so deep it lasts a life time? In Astrophil and Stella, Sir Philip Sidney does just this, creating a chronological sequence of 108 sonnets, depicting the longing and futile adoration of the speaker Astrophil towards his love interest Stella. It has been widely noted that the sonnets may be a reflection of Sidney s own life, after his infamous love of Penelope Devereux following their meeting in 1575, which is said to have lasted through her marriage to another man, and up until his untimely death in 1583. Sonnet 31, the sonnet I will be mainly discussing in this essay, is undeniably the most famous of Sidney s sonnets. This sonnet utilises Sidney s favourite Italian rhyme scheme ABBA CDCD EE, paired with his preferred Italian sonnet style, including an octave, followed by a sestet, and a turn in line 8. This writing style not native to the English Language displays Sidney s mastery in conveying his emotional anguish a skill which elevates him as a loved and dearly missed poet of the Elizabethan era. The poem employs iambic pentameter, showing Sidney s marriage of typically English meter with a continental writing style, which creates a beautifully complex narrative of a pining love. The strict meter creates a steady and somewhat lyrical rhyme scheme, which adds a romantic essence of sound to the sonnet, almost as if Astrophil is attempting to serenade Stella throughout the collection of poetry, unfortunately, to no avail. Let s face it, when you need a ride somewhere and the driver pulls up to the curb, you get in, and worry about the rest later. If you were given a choice between two drivers when the taxis pulled up, and both drivers were equally approachable with very similar attributes, how would you choose which driver s door to open? Researchers in the marketing industry have studied this attraction effect for over three decades, and found that the placement of a decoy (asymmetrically dominated alternative) in the middle of a choice set has the strength to influence consumer choices. Testing the attraction effect on rich perceptual stimuli (like a taxi driver) yields many answers, and personal differences may distort the decoy s intended purpose. In light of a decoy s power to influence choice on items containing contextual attributes (for example televisions, cars, toothpaste), I felt the purpose of my study should focus on whether a decoy holds the same power to influence consumers with items that are presented perceptually (like a movie, taste test, or a person providing a service), which are void of relevant underlying context. Research on the decoy effect (asymmetrical dominance, or attraction effect) has held its own in the world of marketing, and was introduced by Huber, Payne, and Puto (1982) when they demonstrated that the choices people make ... • 20. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Psychology Social Psychology Assignment 1 There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight, the more one grows the more he will weigh.
