Amazon Chapter 10 Study Guide
SUMMARY OF CH.10
Pricing strategies:
Price: is an amount of money that the consumer is paying for a product or a service.
Costumer value based pricing: to determine the price of product or service we have to consider the
customer expectations of the value not the seller s cost.
Good value pricing means the balance between good quality and service, decent price for both the
customer and the company in order for it to gain profit. It also means, the marketer cannot make a
decision in the marketing program before the product design and the prices are set. Value added
pricing: is the pricing plan which depends on expected values for the consumer. Rather than
matching other competitors pricing, the strategy is to add an extra piece to the ... Show more content

Media Positive Impact
Technology is evolving each and every day. Because of this new technology, people are now able
to communicate their thoughts and feelings with those all over the world. There are many social
media platforms out there including Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, the list goes on and
on. But, is it hurting the way we communicate with others around us on a day to day basis?
Before these platforms were introduced to the public, people were only able to communicate with
others through the use of letters or by speaking to one another face to face. Since technology has
started to take over, more and more people are meeting people all over the world that they weren t
able to talk to before. However, since online communicationis global, that means instead of having
to just please those around us, some of us think we have to please every single person that we
encounter on social media. This isn t much of a good thingbecause it forces us to worry about what
people we haven t even met before think about us, rather than worrying about what s going on
around you. Social media may make communicating with others easier, but it also has the power to
take us away from the important things happening in our lives. Since networking through the use
of various social media platforms was introduced, communicating with others has never been
easier. In his essay titled, How Social Media is Having a Positive Impact on Our Culture, author
Josh Rose talks about how people are now able to

Because the company s supply chain was flexible and responsive, it was able to adjust its inventory

Home Depot s cross docking distribution centers are I shaped. The I shape is the most popular,
because it allows freight to be unloaded from an arriving trailer and carried the short distance
across the dock to be loaded into an outbound trailer. I shaped docks however become less
efficient as operations grow either over time or in the design phase. Therefore, company should
explore a T shaped cross docking distribution center as experiments conducted at the Georgia
Institute of Technology suggest that a T and X shaped docks are more efficient and have lower
labor costs (Bartholdi Gue, 2004).
Competitive Advantage
Low cost. The Home Depot offers customers its signature lowest price guarantee. If a customer
finds a lower price for an identical, in stock item, The Home Depot will not only price match the

Family Relationships In The Simpson
Family relationships are a common theme in novels or television shows. One of the most famous
and successful contemporary animated sitcoms in television is The Simpsons which portrays the
family and its dynamics in a very satirical way. Before The Simpson appeared on television, the
traditional American familyof the 1950s was considered as the perfect one. It was a patriarchal
family where the father went to work, the mother raised the children while taking care of the
household and the children behaved well and did always the right thing. Indeed, the American
family of the 1950 s was considered as an efficient structure where positive values and morals,
including a deep belief in God and in the Country, played an important... Show more content on

It portrays a typical, blue collar family where the main character is Homer, a father and a
husband who is described as a lazy couch potato. His wife, Marge does not work; she stays at
home where she takes care of him and their children, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Everyday Homer
spends most of his time at the bar or in the nuclear station, where he works as a safety inspector,
while Marge brings the children to school, and then takes care of the house. Bart is a trouble
maker, a rebel who does not respect his parents, Lisa is a very intelligent as well as a star
student. Despite lacking some qualities of the typical American father of the 50 s, Homer fulfils
his role because he is the breadwinner of his family. As a matter of fact the financial security of his
family depends fully on him. He is always stressed and makes many mistakes, but always lands on
his feet, also thanks to the support of all his family members. Furthermore , even though there are
continuous conflicts within the family, it always ends up well for them. According to me, the
Simpsons represents a happy family because even though they always face problems, they succeed

Ben Mezrich s The Accidental Billionaires
The Silicon Valley is the most ferocious jungle in the world, full of money, lying, love, and hate.
Programmers have one mantra: Keep up or die trying. Ben Mezrich beautifully embodied all of
this in his book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook. Facebook, now a $547
billion dollar company, drove best friends Mark and Eduardo apart. Mark Zuckerberg, a genius
hacker who was so advanced he was on an F.B.I watchlist, and Eduardo Saverin, a genius investor
who was confident and dressed well, both met at a Phoenix Club punching event. The Phoenix
club was the club for the socially elite, and both were invited on account of being geniuses. When
Eduardo was invited to the next event and eventually was invited to join, it was apparent that Mark

spread like wildfire, getting so many uses that the universities bandwidth completely crashed.
Mark got reprimanded, and he decided to take up a more well perceived project. Two very rich
twins asked him to code their dating website, and he took it up. He later realized that there were
many fundamental flaws in the site and dropped away. He started his own venture:
thefacebook.com. Eduardo provided the initial money and it was a hit. It spread like an
infection and 4000 users had joined by the night. As things grew, Mark decided to move to the
silicon valley to be right in the middle of the tech industry. That s where Sean Parker came into
play. He was a wild spirit and was an idol to Mark. Sean wanted Eduardo out of the company, and
when billionaire Peter Thiel invested into the company, Eduardo was diluted

The 13th Amendment
After the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 and the ensuing American Civil War all states where
forced to ratify the thirteenth amendment which abolished slavery within the United States, or any
place subject to their jurisdiction. In 1870 the fifteenth amendment was passed making it
unconstitutional to prohibit voters on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
While the thirteenth and fifteenth amendments made it constitution for African Americans to vote
it did not prohibit states from implementing obstructions at voting booths such as poll taxes, literacy
test, lineage tracking, and other qualifications. While Plessy v. Ferguson established the separate
but equaldoctrine which is described as racially segregated but ostensibly ensuring equal
opportunities to all races. The established doctrine of Separate but Equal was never enforced,
and the cries of the neglected fell upon deaf ears until 1954, 58 years after a virtual caste system
was established in the Nation of freedom and equal opportunity segregating everything from
schools to bathrooms because of the color of your skin. After the Separate Car Act of 1890
passed in the State of Louisiana which required separate railway cars for blacks and whites a
man of mixed race who was seven eighths of European decent and of one eighth African descent
purchased a first class ticket, and upon taking his seat was once asked to move to the black only
car, then was arrested for violating the separate car act, Plessy s side argued that the Seperate Car
Act had violated his thirteenth and fourteenth amendment rights. Judge Ferguson found Plessy to
be guilty, and the Louisiana Supreme Court upheld his decision with the intention that it was the
rights of the state to regulate railroad companies within the state. ...The law regards man as man,
and takes no account of his surroundings or of his color when his civil rights as guarantied by the
supreme law of the land are involved. ― John Marshall Harlan the Great Dissenter Justice Harlan
was the single dissenter that believed the Seperate but equal doctrine was unconstitutional and that

Effective cancer screening methods are used to detect or identify the presence of a specific
cancer before the individual displays any symptoms of cancer. Early detection of a cancer through
screening can save the life of a person who may have died without screening detection. Early
detection of cancer can also provide a less costly and more effective treatment than if the cancer
progresses requiring more advanced or drastic treatment. Screenings tests for the more common
cancers such as breast, colon, prostate or cervical can be non invasive or only slightly invasive. The
majority of screening procedures are non invasive which is more cost effective, patient convenient,

One future cancer screening test for prostate cancer is called EPCA 2 testing. EPCA (early prostate
cancer antigen) is a protein that is present in the blood in higher amounts in men who have prostate
cancer than in men without cancer (Prostate.net, n.d.). A 2007 article, according to Prostate.net,
published in the journal Urology provided evidence that EPCA 2 testing was more cancer specific
than PSA. If this is true, the test could reduce unnecessary biopsies and the over diagnosis and over
treatment of prostate cancer (Prostate.net, n.d.). As of 2009 EPCA 2 research is continuing
(Prostate.net, n.d.).
The PCA3 assay prostate cancer test is being conducted in Europe. This test detects the amount of
a gene called PCA3 in urine. Research show that this gene could be an indicator for prostate cancer
as it is highly evident in most men who have prostate cancer (Prostate.net, n.d.). In preliminary data
according to Prostate.net, the PCA3 test has shown to be more specific in detecting prostate cancer
than the PSA test. PCA3 assay is still being tested in the United States and as of May 2010 the FDA
has not granted marketing approval (Prostate.net, n.d.).
Future cancer screening includes a blood test currently being studied in several facilities, including
the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, which can identify among a billion healthy cells one
single cancer cell. The blood test uses a microchip that looks like a lab slide covered in

Essay On How Did Andrew Jackson Abuse His Power
Andrew Jackson abused his power, and did not promote democracy. He forced Native Americans off
their lands and into reservations and suppressed the protest against the tariffs of 1828. Due to his
frontier beginnings Andrew Jackson did not feel sympathetic to Native Americans. He thought that
the Indians in the east should be taken away from their lands and put in small reservations in the
west. Even though he faced tough resistance from the Supreme Court, Jackson pushed through with
his plan, In 1831 the Supreme Court held that Indians had the right to keep their lands. An angry
Jackson disagreed. Groups that refused to move west voluntarily were met with military force
usually with tragic results (265). In this quote Jackson defies the Supreme Court and uses the...

Jackson s Indian policy does not heed any of these foundations of democracy. Another of
example of when Jackson abused his power was during the tariff crisis of 1828. The tariff crisis
began when Congress raised tariffs on imported goods. The southerners believed that these tariffs
favored the Northerners, who had more factories, and did not need to import as many goods.
Enraged the southerners protested, they nullified the tariffs. One of the southern states wanted to
make a bold statement against the Union, it threatened to secede unless the tariffs were reduced
to an acceptable rate. Jackson was infuriated, He called on Congress to pass the Force Bill which
would allow him to use the federal army to collect tariffs if needed (262). This quote shows
Jackson used the U.S army to force the South Carolinians into submission. It was very
undemocratic of Jackson not to listen to the South Carolinians voices. They were simply protesting
in a bold way to try to get the government to pay attention to their cause. Instead of listening to
them, Jackson silenced their voices in dictator like

How Does Friar Lawrence Affect Romeo And Juliet
(TOPIC SENTENCE) (THESIS III) Friar Laurence affects the outcome of the play with his
insufficient choices by (MAJOR A) marrying Romeo and Juliet (MAJOR B) and fleeing Juliet s
tombstone. (REWORDING OF MAJOR A) At the beginning of the storyline, Friar Laurence
makes the decision to marry Romeo and Juliet, without thinking of the consequences or
problems that would soon come in store for the newly found lovers. (MINOR 1 FOR MA) Friar
Laurence rather takes the easy way out because he never tries to help Romeo and Juliet reveal to
their families their love for each other. For instance, Friar Laurence states, Come, come with me,
and we will make short work, / For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone / Till holy church

(MINOR 2 FOR MA) If Friar Laurence had not married Romeo and Juliet, he could have
encouraged them to confront their families about their complex love situation. In addition, Friar
Laurence s secret plan would not have taken place, which easily went wrong by causing the
death of three characters. (REWORDING OF MAJOR B) Another terrible decision Friar
Laurence makes is when he runs away from Juliet s tombstone even when she needs him the
most. (MINOR 1 FOR MB) Friar Laurence flees the scene because he hears the watch coming
and does not want to them to perceive that he caused the death of Paris and Romeo. For example,
he states, Stay not to question, for the watch is coming. / Come, go, good Juliet, I dare no longer
stay (5.3.158 159). Unfortunately, after Friar Laurence leaves, Juliet attempts to kill herself in two

Introduction The following report shows that the proposal of the modernisation project should
obtain funding from the corporate headquarters of Victoria Chemicals. The project has an initial
outlay of GBP12 million to renovate and rationalise the polypropylene production line at
Merseyside plant. This is done in order to make up for deferred maintenance and exploit
opportunities to achieve increased efficiency. This report will look at the following four main
areas of concern in order to calculate the feasibility of this Merseyside Project: * The cost of

The Transport Division would have to pay nothing if it was included in the initial outlay of the
Merseyside Project, yet the Transport Division would gain the benefits from the project with
extra throughput 2 years early at no cost to them, except increased maintenance of their trucks.
We do acknowledge that this is a big assumption to make saying that the Merseyside project
should not take on any transport costs. Therefore we put in the clause that if taking on the
Merseyside project decreases the NPV of their project we can come to some sort of agreement
over the percentage of costs each division should take for the purchase of the new tank cars.
There is also an agency problem here with the executive VP of Transport Division and
Intermediate Chemicals Group who receive an annual incentive bonus pegged to the
performance of their division. Hence both executive VP s would want to reduce costs as much
as possible and try off load any cost they can to another division. Concerns of the ICG Sales and
Marketing Department The director of sales raised the issue that the company wouldn t be able to
sell the extra output that the project would produce. Instead of selling more units in total the
Liverpool plant would just cannibalize Rotterdam s sales. Therefore the company would not be
able to take full advantage of the efficiencies of the new project. We disagree with the directors
belief that the new sales will all be

Everyone Should Be Able To Vote Essay
Voting with Electronic Voting Machines
The states should be allowed to use electronic voting machines. They are not necessarily easier
than paper ballots but the result can be back quicker than using the old fashion paper ballots.
Understanding that new technology is not always the way to go, but to use them in your city to
see how the citizens like them is definitely a way to go. Being able to give your citizens the
choice with which they would rather vote with, either a paper ballot, or an EVMs is a good idea
knowing what they think is the right way to vote and that they can vote that way.
Using new technology is a good thing with all of it improving in today s society. The electronic
voting machines are easy for all people to use, including, people with disabilities and who can not
stand long by having hand held devices , as stated in Everyone Should Be Able to Vote. They have
an advancement by having different languages for the citizen who is voting to choose from so
they can vote in their most fluent language, instead of having to translate the information for them.

Despotism And The Framers Of The Constitution Dbq
King George the Third ruled England through despotism, and the Framers of the Constitution did
not want the same fate. In May of 1787, fifty five state delegates arranged a Constitutional
Convention in Philadelphia. The delegates argued a long list of reasons why the Articles of
Confederation was not working, thus creating a completely new outline of the government. The
making of the Constitution restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and
turning America into an autocracy. The Framers introduced, federalism, separation of power,
checks and balances, and the small and large state compromise into the governing document.
Federalism was a strong starting point to prevent America from becoming a dictatorship. Different
powers were given in James Madison s compound government. The state and federal governments
provide double security to the rights of the people in America. (Doc. A) On one hand, the state
government deals with smaller, more private situations, such as establishing schools, holding
elections, and setting up local governments. On the other hand, the federal government deals with
bigger issues, such as declaring war, making immigration laws, and regulating trade. Even though

It s Time For The Final Round Of Competition
It s time for the final round of competition. You ve been working hard all year, and it s about to
pay off. Once you are on that field you perform the best you ever have. Once you get off you feel
proud and accomplished. However, this year that feeling, might have not been repeated.
The Evergreen Marching Band and Colorguard (EMBC) has had this feeling for more than two
decades. A lot of people don t know, that we re not just a normal halftime marching band, we are
a competitive marching band. We travel to competitions in Washington and Oregon. This
program has been around for a couple decades, and we don t want to stop now. However, the
competitive program was about to be nonexistent this year, due to lack of funds. A lot of students
and parents were upset at the thought of no competitive season. All of us in this program feel as if
that s the best part of the season. If we lost that it wouldn t bee as much fun. We were so far in
debt that if we couldn t raise enough money, it would ve been game over.
This wouldn t be a problem though, if we had more money in our budget to do our competitive
season. We only receive $1000 which is for the whole band program, according to our band
director. My school district needs to fund the EMBC program separately from the regular band
programs. I am not saying that their program isn t as important, but we, the EMBC, require more

Stock Market Failure
As of now, you are all most likely aware that our nation s economy is rapidly declining because
of the stock market crash. What you may not know is that your father and I have lost our life s
savings because of it. You see, your father and I decided to invest in some shares, hoping to make
a profit in the long run. What a mistake that turned out to be! Although we only used a miniscule
portion of our money, we bought the stocks on a margin, receiving loans from the bank. When the
market crashed, our bank announced that all loans must be fully paid off. We lost everything. We
were forced to pay off a loan that cost more than our personal investment in the shares. The loan
was worth such a great amount of money that your father and I had were

Symbolism In The Film The Others
In his classic film The Others, Alejandro AmenГЎbar questions the nature of religion, life and
death, and reality in a shockingly beautiful way. He handles symbolism masterfully, using classic
motifs such as light and dark and haunted houses to get his point across further. Ignorant of their
death at first, the children, who were in their lifetime allergic to light, avoided it at all costs. Light,
often, is used as a symbol for truth: a guiding light for those who fumble about in the darkness. This
is the same case in The Others. They fought to stay in the darkness and remain ignorant, but after
discovering that they were dead all along, the light becomes good to them, even beautiful, and they
welcome it. This obviously represents the truth

Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Ability
Welcome to the exciting and adventurous camp of Cognitive Ability, where we challenge and
cherish the precious minds of babies and teens through our fun activities of psychology through
Piaget s theory of cognitive ability. Piaget s theory of cognitive ability was designed to
distinguish the age at which a child s cognitive ability was developed through the stages in
which he classified as sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational
(Lutz Huitt, 2004). The goal of the camp is to define how children learn, remember, pay
attention, and problem solve through each child s development pace by a series of educational
activities for all to enjoy. The sensorimotor stage activities will consist primarily of age s birth to
about two years. The child will be given a choice of toys to play with such as stuffed animals,
building blocks or a rattle. Each toy will either produce a sound. During the main activity, one of
the instructors will give the child the rattle to play with by first showing the rattle to the baby and
then shaking the rattle. As the baby looks at the rattle they will be startled or surprised by the
sound and wonder why and where it came from. The instructor will then give the rattler to the baby
and then they will shake it. The baby will gradually understand they are causing the sound,
therefore motor skills and sensory perceptions are established. In the sensorimotor stage, infants
will realize that their actions through sense and

Ketchum Grenades
In August of 1861, William F. Ketchum patented the Ketchum Hand Grenade. Shortly after, in the
years of 1863 and 1864, the grenade was implemented in the American Civil War.
With a lemon shaped piece of iron and a tail made of paper or cardboard, the handheld explosive
greatly resembled a dart. On the front of the grenade s body was a plunger, which held a
percussion cap filled with explosive material. When the the grenade fell onto its nose and applied
pressure to the plunger, an explosion was triggered, only to be met by more gunpowder inside.
Although the resulting explosion caused a great deal of mayhem and shrapnel, it was not very
reliable because its detonation depended on the grenade falling directly onto its nose. Because of its
temperamental behavior, the grenade got a reputation for not being very accurate.
During its use by the Union army, the weapon was still in its earliest stages. Although the
Confederate army did not adopt this specific weapon, they had similar ideas such as the Raines
grenade, which was similar in appearance, but completely inadequate for battle. Instead of
cardboard fins for a stable flight, the Raines grenade had a cloth streamer.
Ketchums were used in several important battles such as the battle of Vicksburg and the siege of
Petersburg. Union soldiers threw the grenades at the Confederate troops and stood back for the
explosion. They were faced with an unpleasant surprise when the Confederates found a way to

Margot Heinemann s Characteristics In King Lear
William Shakespeare s King Lear is the tragic story of a king s descent from power as the life that
he had once had crumbles before him. It is a story that relies heavily on the relationships between
its characters and how they change. Lear is slowly driven insane throughout the course of the play
as he unintentionally rids himself of the positive relationships while relying upon negative ones.
However, it is Margot Heinemann s argument that the play not only relies on interpersonal drama,
but also the politics of Englandin her essay, Demystifying the Mystery of the State : King Learand
the World Upside Down . In her essay, Heinemann provides an in depth analysis of how the politics

Thy valor and thy heart, thou art a traitor: (5.3.125 127,133)
Edgar fearlessly challenges his brother at the end of the play, telling him to draw his sword and
retaliate if he is offended by what he says, and he then calls him a traitor among other things.
The reader is surprised to see Edgar reaching this position because he had fallen so far. He was
originally in the good graces of his father, but then he had to go into hiding and act like a crazy
beggar because his father wanted him dead. He then transforms from a crazy beggar to a noble
swordsman for the end of the play so that he can defeat his brother in an attempt to save those
who are in danger. This scene is incredibly powerful to the reader because of the Upside Down
World effect which is caused by Edgar s resolution to not give up on England and to save those

the Norse really did and what they were really like. We ll look at the facts of what was real about

The Viking Age is typically recorded in history as occurring approximately around 793 AD to

Where Atoms Come From We Are All Star Stuff
Chapter Four: Where Atoms Come From: We Are All Star Stuff
1.How are elements with atomic numbers greater than iron s atomic number formed? (1 mark)
Elements with atomic numbers greater than iron s atomic number form during the formation of a
supernovae, also known as a mini bang. The process begins when a massive star has depleted its
supply of magnesium and silicon, and only has a bare iron ore remaining. Now, the star no longer
has the energy to maintain its immense mass against the force of gravity, and as a result, the entire
star collapses. This process fuses together electrons and protons in the core, which forms neutrons.
After neutrons build up in the ore, the star recoils in the form of an explosion. During the explosion,
the neutrons attach to iron atoms in the ore, and begin converting back to protons and electrons. As
a result, iron atoms are able to become different elements with greater atomic numbers.
2.Explain how Patterson determined the age of the Earth (4.55 billion years old)? (2 marks)

When a massive star depletes all of its magnesium and silicon supply, it will only have an iron ore

the ore. When the ore is filled with neutrons, a rebound will occur, and everything will explode
outwards, during which the neutrons will surround the iron atoms and will separate into protons
and electrons. Now, the iron atom has excess of protons and electrons, which means that it is a
different and heavier element, as the number of protons have increased. Heavier elements like gold

Summary Of Planned Parenthood Vs Casey Case
When laws or executive orders defy the Constitution, the Supreme Court is responsible for
deciding between competing American values.. The Court ensures the basic rights of its citizens
are protected and defines civil liberties. In 1992, Planned Parenthood v. Casey addressed the
issues concerning abortion because of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act of 1982. This ruling
was important to the nation because individual liberty was being denied to women. The values
that were in conflict in Casey was the basic liberty for women to control reproduction and the
protection of unborn babies. When a woman sought an abortion, she was denied her individual
right to decide over her body and was required to get permission to have an abortion if she was...

As a consequence, the ruling set the path toward new restrictive abortion laws that can
completely block having an abortion. In Whole Woman s Health v. Hellerstedt (2016), the Court
recognized an undue burden was placed when Texas placed restrictions on the delivery of
abortion providers. Justice Ginsburg, concurring with the majority states, When a State severely
limits access to safe and legal procedures, women in desperate circumstances... , faute de mieux,
at great risk to their health and safety ( Whole Woman s Health v. Hellerstedt Cornell 10). Having
limited options to an abortion will lead women to another alternative that consists of an unsafe
abortion. While this ruling upheld women s right to a safe and legal abortion, States still have the
opportunity to intervene and persuade women to not get an abortion as seen in Hellerstedt.
Through the rulings made in Roe, Casey, and Hellerstedt, society has slowly progressed in
accepting women have the basic liberty to control reproduction. Some individuals have learned to
put aside their religious and moral beliefs when it comes to making a decision that will affect
women. Overall, the United States still remains at conflict over the controversial subject of
abortion. We as a nation have learned women have the basic liberty to decide over their body and
terminate a pregnancy,

Is Preventative Medicine Be The Key For The Future Of Our...
Journal Week 4 7
The video chosen for this week s journal focused was absolutely amazing. The video focused on the
future of medicine and the many inventions that are up and coming. It was very insightful. The
focuses that really grabbed my attention was to cure the well before they get sick, personalized
healthcare, and bio informatics (Kraft, 2011). Preventative medicine is the key to the future of our
patients. As healthcare workers, we are not seeing patients until their disease process has progressed
beyond prevention and it is in a later stage that now requires treatment. The invention that interest
me the most was the virtual colonoscopy. The population I work with are mainly over the age of
50 years old. When asked if they have ever received a colonoscopy, 80% of them say they have
not. I think the virtual colonoscopy would eliminate the fear factor for most patients and would
allow us to catch diseases of the GI tract faster before treatment is needed.

The Pros And Cons Of Bluefin Tuna Consumption
Bluefin tuna consumption poses a risk to oceans and people. Despite being an endangered species
and the subject of a worldwide agreement to not over fish, Bluefin tuna is still served at sushi
restaurants around the world. It s beautiful and delicious and sushi eaters are willing to pay a
premium for the fatty, meaty fish. The truth is, many people either don t know about the tunas status
or don t believe it s as bad as many scientists are saying.
Besides the species being highly endangered and over fished despite regulations, Bluefin tuna
accumulate toxins like mercury in their bodies, which get passed along to happy restaurant goers.
Because the species lives in almost every ocean and migrates to reach an immense number of
countries, Pacific Bluefin tuna and Atlantic Bluefin tuna (also classified as northern and southern
Bluefin tuna) can be caught and eaten around the world. This also makes them especially hard to
monitor: when different nations are competing for one resource in the open ocean where no one
has jurisdiction, the international regulations are near impossible to enforce and it becomes a free

speech. A persuasive speech tugs at the listeners heart strings and urges them to do or believe in
something or someone. In this case, the purpose of Chamberlain s speech was to persuade
Parliament of the importance of accepting the Munich Agreement. Chamberlain truly believed he
was doing the right thing for the people of England by signing the Munich Agreement, along with
Germany, Italy and France. But if only he had realised what the future held for England, and the
entire world, as WWII followed not long after. Chamberlain is credible because he s a Prime
Minister, so he is clearly an expert on the subject. He uses evidence and reason as well,

It contributes to my investigation of how democracy came into South Africa as it shows the
willingness of FW De Klerk to work with the African National Congress as it says that he lifted the
ban on the ANC. This source is useful as it gives an overview of what had happened during the
time period and gives an objective and balanced account, the writer has also used a variety of
primary sources to put this source together. This source however, does have limitations as it may
be one sided and only reflect the point of view of the writer. This source is also valid as it comes
from a history website. It is reliable when studied with other sources but is not reliable on its own.
Source J was written by Matthew James Graham. The author of the source also has a degree of
Phd in History. The source contributes to my investigation as it discusses the unbanning of the
ANC, which shows the willingness of FW De Klerk to work with them. It also discusses the
willingness of De Klerk to negotiate with the ANC to end Apartheid.

Victor The Real Monster In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein, the real Monster is Victor himself. It s simple to understand and very
clear to see. He may not look like one or realize that it is him, but many things throughout the
book point you to the conclusion that the creature isn t the monster. It stuck out to me the entire
time reading this, but there were a couple spots that really made me realize who the real monster
was. For example in Ch. 5, where he startled himself by his own creation and again in Ch. 11 Ch.
17 when the creature began to explain his journey and experience. Throughout chapter 5, many
things convinced me that Victor was the real monster. For starters, when he finally finished his
creation and got scared himself because of how hideous it looked. It obviously wasn t his
intentions to make him look so bad, but he then didn t even except the creature as his own. He
wanted nothing to do with it, his experiment failed, and he was scared to know what it was capable
of. Well, what he didn t know was that without the love and care it needed, the outcome was even
worse than what he thought. The father figure in this novelis Victor, while the creature is the child ,
and like most parents who don t know the responsibilities, they just throw them away and let
someone else care for their own child. This comes into play a little later when the creature... Show

Not knowing how extremely hideous he was, he ventured out into public to learn himself. People
beat him, ran away from him, and screamed in terror. They didn t know that all he wanted was
acceptance, he was scary looking, and ugly. Finally when he found a family that he thought would
take him in, it turns out they didn t. The boy thought he was hurting his father, but that wasn t the
case. He just wanted answers to his questions, he wanted love. That s something Victor never gave

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cervical Spine Trauma
As a physical therapist working in an outpatient facility, majority of the patients that I manage suffer
from neck injuries sustained from motor vehicular accidents or a fall incident. Handling patient
with cervical spine injury is challenging as it is vulnerable to further injury should it not be
rehabilitated with extreme caution. It is essential that the clinician should not rely solely on
diagnostic reports and should perform significant detailed assessments that include ligamentous
stability tests with individuals that had cervical spine trauma (Mckinnis, 2014 p. 159). It should be
noted that in any motor vehicular accident it is important to identify injurypatterns and trauma
protocols should be applied. Injuries brought about by motor vehicle accidents are not always
apparent. For instance, during evaluation there is no evidence of any soft tissue damage or any
manifestation of fractures, but one can still end up with long term disability due to back or neck
pain. With that, an exhaustive physical examination coupled with an appropriate diagnostic
procedure will give more information about the patient s condition and guide treatment decisions.
This is truly vital because there are times reports that was initially identified as normal but later
progressed into something fatal that might bring about disability or worse death. For this reason, it
is indispensable for medical personnel to have sufficient knowledge about radiologic findings.

The Impact Of Modern Technology On Modern Public Sector
The government s ability to provide it makes it ultimately more reliable and trustworthy.
The second, it is gaining access to an information, which increases the transparency of the
government and brings a positive message to the public, contributing to increase mutual trust; and
the third, but certainly an important aspect, is the involvement of the public in a dialogue. In my
opinion, participation is the key to the Government s credibility. The question is, if all these
possibilities provided by the modern technology are equally effectively utilized in the modern
public sector?
Welch, Hinnant, and Moon (2005) express the concern about the one way dissemination of
information by E Governments, instead of encouraging the dialog with the public. However they
argue that there could be a variety of reasonable explanations of this one way approach. Some of
them: technology is not developed yet enough to provide convenient to ways interaction; it can
increase the workload on planning and requires a lot of structural and organizational changes, which
can take more time to adjust, they also suggest that it may be that managers are correct: citizens
want ease of service and information first and interaction second . (p. 387) Thus the first stage of E
Government implementation was focused on the convenient services delivery. And Government
had succeeded in making a lot of interaction accessible and comfortable for citizens, which certainly
contribute to its efficiency and may

Realism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
Wilde combines both the ornamental and the natural elements of the definition of aestheticism
here by describing both the Persian saddle bags and honey coloured blossoms. The set description
is so enamoring that one could almost miss Lord Henry Wotton, instead engaging their
imagination in the appreciation of the objects around him. The descriptions are so elegantly
articulated by Wilde that they can only be imagined through their beauty alone; one would not
imagine plain tables and chairs while reading this, and the descriptions are certainly not modest as
George Eliot describes in her definition of realism. This also eliminates any need for a collective
spectacle; the objects simply are what they are. The entertaining language that Wilde uses in his
descriptions work in satisfying his argument for aestheticism. Wilde also spends a lot of his time
making the characters in The Picture of Dorian Grayaesthetic focused. For Wilde, the only
character who gives in to the idea of realism is Basil Hallward by putting far too much of himself
into his own painting. Basil is the physical characterization of Wilde s criticism of artists in his
preface; he does not conceal the artist when creating Dorian s portrait. Basil even claims that the
real Dorian is the painting and not the living Dorian standing before him, saying I shall stay with
the real Dorian when prompted to attend the theatre with Dorian and Henry Wotton (Wilde 28).
Since the real Dorian is not to

When Did The Cold War End Essay
It has been about 26 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall marked, as many believed the end to
Communism, and the Cold War. For years, there was a lot of tension between the United States and
Soviet Union that can be described as a competition between two universalist models: each claimed
to represent the future (Dinning). As most global conflicts involving war go, one always loses.
Since the USSR does not exist any longer, many believe that the United Stateswon this Cold War,
but in reality neither power won, and the USSR became present day Russia. From the time of his
presidency, Ronald Reagan is credited with ending the Cold War, but had nothing to do with the fall

raise the question: Did the Cold War really end? Rather, did the United States succeed in
becoming the superpower it claims to be? Historians argue that the Cold War did end, but the
United States is entering another Cold War like conflict with North Korea. However, the USSR
had a strong influence on the Northern peninsula of Korea, so they are the main cause of today s
conflicts as well. They had a direct influence to what is occurring today. So, if the Cold War
ended, why does the Korean War s effects still resonate on the relationship with the U.S? Under
Trump, many of his actions are reflecting what Reagan would do. In the 1980 Olympics, the
United States boycotted the games being held in Moscow after the USSR refused to withdraw

Alternate Ending Of A Short Story Essay
Pendragon s hammer struck the iron handle of his chisel one last time. As the subdued clink of

him.
Years previous, he sailed to Egypt to find the best ivory; he joined caravans of jewel sellers to
pick out the finest pieces; he travelled to the gold mines of Persia to purchase the purest ore. All he

John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness Essay
John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness
Along with other noted philosophers, John Stuart Mill developed the nineteenth century philosophy
known as Utilitarianism the contention that man should judge everything in life based upon its
ability to promote the greatest individual happiness. While Bentham, in particular, is acknowledged
as the philosophy s founder, it was Mill who justified the axiom through reason. He maintained that
because human beings are endowed with the ability for conscious thought, they are not merely
satisfied with physical pleasures; humans strive to achieve pleasures of the mind as well. Once
man has ascended to this high intellectual level, he desires to stay there, never descending to the
lower level of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Utilitarianism, Mill noted, utility includes not solely the pursuit of happiness, but the prevention
or mitigation of unhappiness (Mill 12).
The pursuit of pleasure has also been condemned by critics as being little more than the
promotion of one s own interests, with no regard to the happiness of others. Mill disputes this as
being narrow minded, clarifying that the pleasure principle which forms the foundation for
utilitarianism, what is right in conduct, is not the agent s own happiness, but that of all
concerned (Mill 16). With this acknowledgment, however, comes the criticism that people cannot
possibly be motivated by something as satisfying the collective good of society. Mill countered
this by pointing out, The utilitarian morality does recognize in human beings the power of
sacrificing their own greatest good for the good of others (Mill 16). To the objection that pleasure
is an acceptable end is contrary to Christian principles because it is godless, Mill states, If it be a
true belief that God desires, above all things, the happiness of his creatures, and that this was his
purpose in their creation, utility is not only not a godless doctrine, but more profoundly religious
than any other (Mill 21).
Mill s pleasure principle was disputed by both philosophers and theologians because of its apparent
lack of association to a code of morality. To this, Mill contended that there can

However other motivators that are just important include, producing higher quality work,
eliminating the feelings of being rushed to complete an objective, and simply having more free

to change the way I work on things, but changing my mentality on organization, multi tasking, and
procrastination. Achieving this goal will help me avoid falling behind in school and work,
decreasing the necessity of late night working sessions, inevitably reducing the intense feelings of
overwhelming stress.
The information I found through online sources include the eBook Superhuman Guide to Time
Management , by Ryan Cooper, and a few articles on time management, multi tasking, and
procrastination located on varies websites. I chose these websites based on their source of
information pertaining to the subject. Cooper s book covers all three of the topics that involved in

Mrs Sommers Symbolism
Mrs. Sommers life was different of what it is now than what it was before she got married.
During this century, women who had jobs had to quit after they married because when they got
home, their job was to be responsible for everything in the home and eventually their children s
needs as well. There are several symbols that contrast how Mrs. Sommers life was and one of those
is symbolism. Symbolism for Mrs. Sommers is the symbol of her life before marriageand having

wonderful and free before marriage because she was living an independent life, but then she had

working outside of the home, and tending to her husband, children, and the home where she is

Costumer value based pricing: to determine the price of product or service we have to consider the customer expectations of the value not the seller s cost. It also means, the marketer cannot make a decision in the marketing program before the product design and the prices are set. • 5. Media Positive Impact Technology is evolving each and every day. Because of this new technology, people are now able to communicate their thoughts and feelings with those all over the world. There are many social media platforms out there including Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, the list goes on and on. But, is it hurting the way we communicate with others around us on a day to day basis? Before these platforms were introduced to the public, people were only able to communicate with others through the use of letters or by speaking to one another face to face. Since technology has started to take over, more and more people are meeting people all over the world that they weren t able to talk to before. However, since online communicationis global, that means instead of having to just please those around us, some of us think we have to please every single person that we encounter on social media. This isn t much of a good thingbecause it forces us to worry about what people we haven t even met before think about us, rather than worrying about what s going on around you. Social media may make communicating with others easier, but it also has the power to take us away from the important things happening in our lives. Since networking through the use of various social media platforms was introduced, communicating with others has never been easier. In his essay titled, How Social Media is Having a Positive Impact on Our Culture, author Josh Rose talks about how people are now able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Currently the shapes of The Home Depot s cross docking distribution centers are I shaped. The I shape is the most popular, because it allows freight to be unloaded from an arriving trailer and carried the short distance across the dock to be loaded into an outbound trailer. I shaped docks however become less efficient as operations grow either over time or in the design phase. Therefore, company should explore a T shaped cross docking distribution center as experiments conducted at the Georgia Institute of Technology suggest that a T and X shaped docks are more efficient and have lower labor costs (Bartholdi Gue, 2004). Competitive Advantage Low cost. The Home Depot offers customers its signature lowest price guarantee. If a customer finds a lower price for an identical, in stock item, The Home Depot will not only price match the merchandise, it will apply an additional 10% discount. This strategy ensures that the company prices its merchandise lower than its local competitors, ensuring a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Differentiation. One of the most famous and successful contemporary animated sitcoms in television is The Simpsons which portrays the family and its dynamics in a very satirical way. Before The Simpson appeared on television, the traditional American familyof the 1950s was considered as the perfect one. It was a patriarchal family where the father went to work, the mother raised the children while taking care of the household and the children behaved well and did always the right thing. Indeed, the American family of the 1950 s was considered as an efficient structure where positive values and morals, including a deep belief in God and in the Country, played an important... His wife, Marge does not work; she stays at home where she takes care of him and their children, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Everyday Homer spends most of his time at the bar or in the nuclear station, where he works as a safety inspector, while Marge brings the children to school, and then takes care of the house. Bart is a trouble maker, a rebel who does not respect his parents, Lisa is a very intelligent as well as a star student. Despite lacking some qualities of the typical American father of the 50 s, Homer fulfils his role because he is the breadwinner of his family. As a matter of fact the financial security of his family depends fully on him. He is always stressed and makes many mistakes, but always lands on his feet, also thanks to the support of all his family members. Facebook, now a $547 billion dollar company, drove best friends Mark and Eduardo apart. Mark Zuckerberg, a genius hacker who was so advanced he was on an F.B.I watchlist, and Eduardo Saverin, a genius investor who was confident and dressed well, both met at a Phoenix Club punching event. He later realized that there were many fundamental flaws in the site and dropped away. He started his own venture: thefacebook.com. Eduardo provided the initial money and it was a hit. It spread like an infection and 4000 users had joined by the night. As things grew, Mark decided to move to the silicon valley to be right in the middle of the tech industry. The 13th Amendment After the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 and the ensuing American Civil War all states where forced to ratify the thirteenth amendment which abolished slavery within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. In 1870 the fifteenth amendment was passed making it unconstitutional to prohibit voters on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. While the thirteenth and fifteenth amendments made it constitution for African Americans to vote it did not prohibit states from implementing obstructions at voting booths such as poll taxes, literacy test, lineage tracking, and other qualifications. While Plessy v. Ferguson established the separate but equaldoctrine which is described as racially segregated but ostensibly ensuring equal opportunities to all races. The established doctrine of Separate but Equal was never enforced, and the cries of the neglected fell upon deaf ears until 1954, 58 years after a virtual caste system was established in the Nation of freedom and equal opportunity segregating everything from schools to bathrooms because of the color of your skin. After the Separate Car Act of 1890 passed in the State of Louisiana which required separate railway cars for blacks and whites a man of mixed race who was seven eighths of European decent and of one eighth African descent purchased a first class ticket, and upon taking his seat was once asked to move to the black only car, then was arrested for violating the separate car act, Plessy s side argued that the Seperate Car Act had violated his thirteenth and fourteenth amendment rights. Judge Ferguson found Plessy to be guilty, and the Louisiana Supreme Court upheld his decision with the intention that it was the rights of the state to regulate railroad companies within the state. ...The law regards man as man, and takes no account of his surroundings or of his color when his civil rights as guarantied by the supreme law of the land are involved. ― John Marshall Harlan the Great Dissenter Justice Harlan was the single dissenter that believed the Seperate but equal doctrine was unconstitutional and that the segregation of people because of their race was contradictory to the law. Early detection of a cancer through screening can save the life of a person who may have died without screening detection. Early detection of cancer can also provide a less costly and more effective treatment than if the cancer progresses requiring more advanced or drastic treatment. EPCA (early prostate cancer antigen) is a protein that is present in the blood in higher amounts in men who have prostate cancer than in men without cancer (Prostate.net, n.d.). A 2007 article, according to Prostate.net, published in the journal Urology provided evidence that EPCA 2 testing was more cancer specific than PSA. If this is true, the test could reduce unnecessary biopsies and the over diagnosis and over treatment of prostate cancer (Prostate.net, n.d.). As of 2009 EPCA 2 research is continuing (Prostate.net, n.d.). The PCA3 assay prostate cancer test is being conducted in Europe. This test detects the amount of a gene called PCA3 in urine. Research show that this gene could be an indicator for prostate cancer as it is highly evident in most men who have prostate cancer (Prostate.net, n.d.). In preliminary data according to Prostate.net, the PCA3 test has shown to be more specific in detecting prostate cancer than the PSA test. PCA3 assay is still being tested in the United States and as of May 2010 the FDA has not granted marketing approval (Prostate.net, n.d.). He forced Native Americans off their lands and into reservations and suppressed the protest against the tariffs of 1828. Due to his frontier beginnings Andrew Jackson did not feel sympathetic to Native Americans. He thought that the Indians in the east should be taken away from their lands and put in small reservations in the west. Even though he faced tough resistance from the Supreme Court, Jackson pushed through with his plan, In 1831 the Supreme Court held that Indians had the right to keep their lands. An angry Jackson disagreed. Groups that refused to move west voluntarily were met with military force usually with tragic results (265). In this quote Jackson defies the Supreme Court and uses the... Another of example of when Jackson abused his power was during the tariff crisis of 1828. The tariff crisis began when Congress raised tariffs on imported goods. The southerners believed that these tariffs favored the Northerners, who had more factories, and did not need to import as many goods. Enraged the southerners protested, they nullified the tariffs. One of the southern states wanted to make a bold statement against the Union, it threatened to secede unless the tariffs were reduced to an acceptable rate. Jackson was infuriated, He called on Congress to pass the Force Bill which would allow him to use the federal army to collect tariffs if needed (262). This quote shows Jackson used the U.S army to force the South Carolinians into submission. It was very undemocratic of Jackson not to listen to the South Carolinians voices. (REWORDING OF MAJOR A) At the beginning of the storyline, Friar Laurence makes the decision to marry Romeo and Juliet, without thinking of the consequences or problems that would soon come in store for the newly found lovers. (MINOR 1 FOR MA) Friar Laurence rather takes the easy way out because he never tries to help Romeo and Juliet reveal to their families their love for each other. For instance, Friar Laurence states, Come, come with me, and we will make short work, / For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone / Till holy church incorporate two in one (2.6.35 37).... (MINOR 2 FOR MA) If Friar Laurence had not married Romeo and Juliet, he could have encouraged them to confront their families about their complex love situation. In addition, Friar Laurence s secret plan would not have taken place, which easily went wrong by causing the death of three characters. (REWORDING OF MAJOR B) Another terrible decision Friar Laurence makes is when he runs away from Juliet s tombstone even when she needs him the most. (MINOR 1 FOR MB) Friar Laurence flees the scene because he hears the watch coming and does not want to them to perceive that he caused the death of Paris and Romeo. For example, he states, Stay not to question, for the watch is coming. / Come, go, good Juliet, I dare no longer stay (5.3.158 159). The project has an initial outlay of GBP12 million to renovate and rationalise the polypropylene production line at Merseyside plant. This is done in order to make up for deferred maintenance and exploit opportunities to achieve increased efficiency. This report will look at the following four main areas of concern in order to calculate the feasibility of this Merseyside Project: * The cost of GBP2 million for the purchase of new rolling stock being allocated to the Transport Division or to the Merseyside project. * The cannibalization affect on Rotterdam... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Transport Division would have to pay nothing if it was included in the initial outlay of the Merseyside Project, yet the Transport Division would gain the benefits from the project with extra throughput 2 years early at no cost to them, except increased maintenance of their trucks. We do acknowledge that this is a big assumption to make saying that the Merseyside project should not take on any transport costs. Therefore we put in the clause that if taking on the Merseyside project decreases the NPV of their project we can come to some sort of agreement over the percentage of costs each division should take for the purchase of the new tank cars. There is also an agency problem here with the executive VP of Transport Division and Intermediate Chemicals Group who receive an annual incentive bonus pegged to the performance of their division. Hence both executive VP s would want to reduce costs as much as possible and try off load any cost they can to another division. Concerns of the ICG Sales and Marketing Department The director of sales raised the issue that the company wouldn t be able to sell the extra output that the project would produce. Instead of selling more units in total the Liverpool plant would just cannibalize Rotterdam s sales. Therefore the company would not be able to take full advantage of the efficiencies of the new project. We disagree with the directors belief that the new sales will all be ... In May of 1787, fifty five state delegates arranged a Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. The delegates argued a long list of reasons why the Articles of Confederation was not working, thus creating a completely new outline of the government. The making of the Constitution restrained one person or group from obtaining too much power and turning America into an autocracy. The Framers introduced, federalism, separation of power, checks and balances, and the small and large state compromise into the governing document. Federalism was a strong starting point to prevent America from becoming a dictatorship. Different powers were given in James Madison s compound government. The state and federal governments provide double security to the rights of the people in America. (Doc. Ignorant of their death at first, the children, who were in their lifetime allergic to light, avoided it at all costs. Light, often, is used as a symbol for truth: a guiding light for those who fumble about in the darkness. This is the same case in The Others. Piaget s Theory Of Cognitive Ability Welcome to the exciting and adventurous camp of Cognitive Ability, where we challenge and cherish the precious minds of babies and teens through our fun activities of psychology through Piaget s theory of cognitive ability. Piaget s theory of cognitive ability was designed to distinguish the age at which a child s cognitive ability was developed through the stages in which he classified as sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational and formal operational (Lutz Huitt, 2004). The goal of the camp is to define how children learn, remember, pay attention, and problem solve through each child s development pace by a series of educational activities for all to enjoy. The sensorimotor stage activities will consist primarily of age s birth to about two years. The child will be given a choice of toys to play with such as stuffed animals, building blocks or a rattle. Each toy will either produce a sound. During the main activity, one of the instructors will give the child the rattle to play with by first showing the rattle to the baby and then shaking the rattle. As the baby looks at the rattle they will be startled or surprised by the sound and wonder why and where it came from. The instructor will then give the rattler to the baby and then they will shake it. The baby will gradually understand they are causing the sound, therefore motor skills and sensory perceptions are established. Shortly after, in the years of 1863 and 1864, the grenade was implemented in the American Civil War. With a lemon shaped piece of iron and a tail made of paper or cardboard, the handheld explosive greatly resembled a dart. On the front of the grenade s body was a plunger, which held a percussion cap filled with explosive material. When the the grenade fell onto its nose and applied pressure to the plunger, an explosion was triggered, only to be met by more gunpowder inside. Although the resulting explosion caused a great deal of mayhem and shrapnel, it was not very reliable because its detonation depended on the grenade falling directly onto its nose. Because of its temperamental behavior, the grenade got a reputation for not being very accurate. During its use by the Union army, the weapon was still in its earliest stages. Although the Confederate army did not adopt this specific weapon, they had similar ideas such as the Raines grenade, which was similar in appearance, but completely inadequate for battle. Instead of cardboard fins for a stable flight, the Raines grenade had a cloth streamer. Ketchums were used in several important battles such as the battle of Vicksburg and the siege of Petersburg. Union soldiers threw the grenades at the Confederate troops and stood back for the explosion. They were faced with an unpleasant surprise when the Confederates found a way to avoid any ... (1 mark) Elements with atomic numbers greater than iron s atomic number form during the formation of a supernovae, also known as a mini bang. The process begins when a massive star has depleted its supply of magnesium and silicon, and only has a bare iron ore remaining. Now, the star no longer has the energy to maintain its immense mass against the force of gravity, and as a result, the entire star collapses. This process fuses together electrons and protons in the core, which forms neutrons. After neutrons build up in the ore, the star recoils in the form of an explosion. During the explosion, the neutrons attach to iron atoms in the ore, and begin converting back to protons and electrons. As a result, iron atoms are able to become different elements with greater atomic numbers. 2.Explain how Patterson determined the age of the Earth (4.55 billion years old)? The video focused on the future of medicine and the many inventions that are up and coming. It was very insightful. The focuses that really grabbed my attention was to cure the well before they get sick, personalized healthcare, and bio informatics (Kraft, 2011). Preventative medicine is the key to the future of our patients. As healthcare workers, we are not seeing patients until their disease process has progressed beyond prevention and it is in a later stage that now requires treatment. The invention that interest me the most was the virtual colonoscopy. The population I work with are mainly over the age of 50 years old. When asked if they have ever received a colonoscopy, 80% of them say they have not. I think the virtual colonoscopy would eliminate the fear factor for most patients and would allow us to catch diseases of the GI tract faster before treatment is needed. Despite being an endangered species and the subject of a worldwide agreement to not over fish, Bluefin tuna is still served at sushi restaurants around the world. It s beautiful and delicious and sushi eaters are willing to pay a premium for the fatty, meaty fish. The truth is, many people either don t know about the tunas status or don t believe it s as bad as many scientists are saying. Besides the species being highly endangered and over fished despite regulations, Bluefin tuna accumulate toxins like mercury in their bodies, which get passed along to happy restaurant goers. Because the species lives in almost every ocean and migrates to reach an immense number of countries, Pacific Bluefin tuna and Atlantic Bluefin tuna (also classified as northern and southern Bluefin tuna) can be caught and eaten around the world. It stuck out to me the entire time reading this, but there were a couple spots that really made me realize who the real monster was. For example in Ch. 5, where he startled himself by his own creation and again in Ch. 11 Ch. 17 when the creature began to explain his journey and experience. Throughout chapter 5, many things convinced me that Victor was the real monster. For starters, when he finally finished his creation and got scared himself because of how hideous it looked. It obviously wasn t his intentions to make him look so bad, but he then didn t even except the creature as his own. He wanted nothing to do with it, his experiment failed, and he was scared to know what it was capable of. Handling patient with cervical spine injury is challenging as it is vulnerable to further injury should it not be rehabilitated with extreme caution. It is essential that the clinician should not rely solely on diagnostic reports and should perform significant detailed assessments that include ligamentous stability tests with individuals that had cervical spine trauma (Mckinnis, 2014 p. 159). It should be noted that in any motor vehicular accident it is important to identify injurypatterns and trauma protocols should be applied. Injuries brought about by motor vehicle accidents are not always apparent. For instance, during evaluation there is no evidence of any soft tissue damage or any manifestation of fractures, but one can still end up with long term disability due to back or neck pain. With that, an exhaustive physical examination coupled with an appropriate diagnostic procedure will give more information about the patient s condition and guide treatment decisions. In my opinion, participation is the key to the Government s credibility. The question is, if all these possibilities provided by the modern technology are equally effectively utilized in the modern public sector? Welch, Hinnant, and Moon (2005) express the concern about the one way dissemination of information by E Governments, instead of encouraging the dialog with the public. However they argue that there could be a variety of reasonable explanations of this one way approach. Some of them: technology is not developed yet enough to provide convenient to ways interaction; it can increase the workload on planning and requires a lot of structural and organizational changes, which can take more time to adjust, they also suggest that it may be that managers are correct: citizens want ease of service and information first and interaction second . • 44. Realism In The Picture Of Dorian Gray Wilde combines both the ornamental and the natural elements of the definition of aestheticism here by describing both the Persian saddle bags and honey coloured blossoms. The set description is so enamoring that one could almost miss Lord Henry Wotton, instead engaging their imagination in the appreciation of the objects around him. The descriptions are so elegantly articulated by Wilde that they can only be imagined through their beauty alone; one would not imagine plain tables and chairs while reading this, and the descriptions are certainly not modest as George Eliot describes in her definition of realism. This also eliminates any need for a collective spectacle; the objects simply are what they are. The entertaining language that Wilde uses in his descriptions work in satisfying his argument for aestheticism. Wilde also spends a lot of his time making the characters in The Picture of Dorian Grayaesthetic focused. For Wilde, the only character who gives in to the idea of realism is Basil Hallward by putting far too much of himself into his own painting. Basil is the physical characterization of Wilde s criticism of artists in his preface; he does not conceal the artist when creating Dorian s portrait. Basil even claims that the real Dorian is the painting and not the living Dorian standing before him, saying I shall stay with the real Dorian when prompted to attend the theatre with Dorian and Henry Wotton (Wilde 28). John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness Essay John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness Along with other noted philosophers, John Stuart Mill developed the nineteenth century philosophy known as Utilitarianism the contention that man should judge everything in life based upon its ability to promote the greatest individual happiness. While Bentham, in particular, is acknowledged as the philosophy s founder, it was Mill who justified the axiom through reason. In Utilitarianism, Mill noted, utility includes not solely the pursuit of happiness, but the prevention or mitigation of unhappiness (Mill 12). The pursuit of pleasure has also been condemned by critics as being little more than the promotion of one s own interests, with no regard to the happiness of others. Mill disputes this as being narrow minded, clarifying that the pleasure principle which forms the foundation for utilitarianism, what is right in conduct, is not the agent s own happiness, but that of all concerned (Mill 16). With this acknowledgment, however, comes the criticism that people cannot possibly be motivated by something as satisfying the collective good of society. Mill countered this by pointing out, The utilitarian morality does recognize in human beings the power of sacrificing their own greatest good for the good of others (Mill 16). To the objection that pleasure is an acceptable end is contrary to Christian principles because it is godless, Mill states, If it be a true belief that God desires, above all things, the happiness of his creatures, and that this was his purpose in their creation, utility is not only not a godless doctrine, but more profoundly religious than any other (Mill 21). Mill s pleasure principle was disputed by both philosophers and theologians because of its apparent lack of association to a code of morality. To this, Mill contended that there can ...
