My Life In The Trenches
Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved
equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even
worse, all day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific
stench of the soldiers who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the
families of those lost brothers of mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons,
husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I
do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind
busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to my brothers I have lost. I try to justify... Show

We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that
holding our ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches
here they would have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved
city, Paris. Although we know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a
chance to drive those nasty Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the
sleep I longed for had eluded me as normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost
no one on our side got much sleep. Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much
sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all
those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious, excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were
ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no good way to fight a battle in these
trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost surely dead as soon as the orders
were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most treacherous tasks we ever had. I
have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to retreat back to our trenches
safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day during battles. As you
can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained if you were
lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw fellow
soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger on
Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others,
but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us
that I find pride in

An Analysis Of Shirley Jackson And The Lottery
Many people are following crowds all over the world. Some crowds are not the best to follow yet
people still follow them. Following a crowd can be misleading and can also l have consequences.
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson takes place in a small village on June 27th, with about 300 people.
The characters in the short storyare Bobby, Harry Jones, Dickie Delacroix, Mr. Summers, and Mr.
Hutchinson. The main idea of First They Came... by Martin Niemoller, is standing up for what is
right isn t always the easiest path. I believe that following a crowd, and standing up for what is
right is not always the right path or easiest path.
To begin with, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is different than First They Came... by Martin
Niemoller because the themes are not the same The Lottery conveys that following a crowd can
lead to consequences; for example, in paragraph 19, All ready? he called. Now, I ll read the
names heads of families first and the men come up and take a paper out of the box. In other
words, this shows that all of the people of the town participated in the traditional game. In
paragraph 77, Tessie Hutchinson was in the center of a cleared space by now, and she held her
hands out desperately as the villagers moved in on her. It isn t fair, she said. A stone hit her on the
side of the head. In this paragraph Tessie Hutchinson is about to get stoned to death because she
picked the slip of paper that had the black dot on it. Also, in paragraph 15 it states

General Education And Special Education
Co Teaching Expectations
Division of Labor
General education and special education teacher are require to work together as a team to ensure
the students in the inclusive classroom setting is learning with the accurate accommodation and
tools to fit their needs. The general education and special education teacher work together to create a
lesson plan to which it targets all areas of learning for all students in the inclusive classroom setting.
Both teachers should sit together to discuss their concerns for their students and contact the parents
together to allow the parents to understand it is a team working as a unit.
Space Furniture
As both teachers should have a desk to complete work, the desk should be on opposite ends of
the classroom for instance, one in the back of the classroom and one in the front as each teacher
should be the eyes for each other. The classroom desk should allow room for both teachers to
move around freely along with a table for small group learning and/or one on one help. In certain
situation a table may cause the room to become too small, grouping a group of five student s desks
together will allow the inclusive teachers to conduct small group lesson for the students to complete
together, which will allow the general and special education teacher to work with a group of
students who need additional help.
Classroom Routines Discipline
At the beginning of each marking period, both the general and special education teacher should

How A Company Can Use Its Weaknesses And Opportunities
The GE case is an example of how a company can use its weaknesses and opportunities to further
its progress. The company saw the potential of the internet in changing businesses. Moreover, for a
change to be effective and be felt across the organization, it must start from the top as Jack Welch
showed by taking typing classes. Further, companies should embrace technology involve their
clients whenever planning to change. This was seen when GE decided to launch the icenter to
connect with customers on its products and services. GE s strategy, like the other companies, chose
to change its way of doing businessby embracing the power of the internet and seeking to be a
leader in the field (Laudon Laudon, 2014).
Rand McNally, on the other hand, provides businesses with lessons, such as changing the
corporate culture to embrace productivity. The company had to do away with the conservative
corporate culture. The CEO of the company chose to personally interact with employees through
an open door policy and responded personally to emails. This is reminiscent of Welch s
leadership at GE. Moreover, businesses should incur worthwhile risks to generate more income in
addition to addressing the needs of their target audience. Businesses can learn from the Randy
McNally case that proper planning is essential to a business, which is opposite to what boo.com
did hence their failure. Like, GE, Income, Mashaweer, and B N, Rand McNally chose to address
the needs of its clients.

It Is Better to Have Tried and Failed Than to Have Never...
It s better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all Do you agree?
The saying actions speak louder than words can be applied to this scenario. Many people often
dare to dream but fear stops them from ever moving forward on their goals. The fear of failure,
of not knowing if it is possible to accomplish what may seem like the most unrealistic dream a
person sets out to achieve. One example we can learn from is one of the greatest swimmer the
world has seen, Ian Thorpe.
Four time Swimming World s Swimmer of the Year, Ian Thorpe once said, I think it s better to
attempt something and fail than it is to not even attempt it, so I m glad that I ve been prepared to
put myself on the line there. Till today, these words... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speaking from personal experience, failure is the mother of success, and without overcoming the
challenge posed to me, I would not make it a step further. For example, ever since I stepped on the
podium in the primary school swimming nationals, I have always wanted to have the chance to
do it again in the secondary school, scoring more points for my school. This year was the last
year the school nationals where I could have a chance on stepping on the podium once again and
I made use of the opportunity I was given. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I
was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in the afternoon for strength
as well as water training. The number of times I would turn up could go up to ten times a week.
This arduous task went on for four to five months and in between, I still had to make sure that I
was keeping up with school curriculum. At the recent national schools, I competed and instead
was placed 5th, missing the podium by a whopping one second. Although I failed to reach the goal
I set out to achieve, I knew that there was nothing else I could do as
I have always wanted to represent the country in the Combined School Games and the recent
National Schools Swimming Championship would have been my chance to qualify for the games.

The Expansion Of Islamic Rule
In Europe during 1250 1350, the major technological advancement, firearms, was significant in
influencing Europe s rulers. Although created between the mid 13th and 14th century, firearms,
such as cannons and muskets, weren t fully developed to be efficient and reliable in warfare
until the mid 1400 s. Due to an increase in firearms, rulers began to create centralized, fiscal
military states to finance their strategic shift to firearm bearing infantries (542,). Rulers also
began to implement imperialism, extending a country s power and influence through military
force, which had been a dormant policy for decades. The reason for reverting was a result of
developing commonwealths between the competing realms, consisting of the religious
civilizations of Islam and Christianity. The people who led the expansion of Islamic rule, first
over the Eastern Orthodox Christians and eventually over the Western, the Ottomans, frequently
attempted to raise immense amounts of currency in silver and gold purely for the sake of obtains
firepower in the hopes of world ruling. But as Abu Lughod would reason, that was a long shot to
begin with. Low on money, the Ottoman Sultans compensated their military commanders with
parcels of conquered land, also known as land grants. Property used in land grants, typically
farmed by local villagers, generated rental income for officers of their regimes. However, once the
Ottoman rulers had gained control over more cities and progressed over long

Reverend Dimmesdale Is a Sinner Essay
Arthur Dimmesdale has continually suffered because of the sin he has committed. He is tortured
by his only friend who is really his enemy. He grows weaker day by day because he will not
confess his sin. He starves himself and whips himself. He has a daughter but no one can know.
People look up to him and he does not want to let them down. If only people knew that he
committed adultery with Hester Prynne. In Nathaniel Hawthornes, The Scarlet Letter, the author
writes, While standing on the scaffold, in this vain show of expiation, Mr.Dimmesdale was

Dimmesdale will not even be seen in public with Hester and Pearl. He wants to be able to be
with his daughter and the love of his life but then people would know that he committed adultery
with Hester. Pearl asks, Wilt thou stand here with Mother and me, tomorrow noontide? to only
hear, Not so, my child. from Dimmesdale in return (Hawthorne page 144). Dimmesdale not
being able to be with whom he loves is is a struggle. Dimmesdale is constantly harming himself
because of his sin. He whips himself on a regular basis feeling as if it is only right to punish
himself for his sin. He starves himself as well. Every time that he whips or starves himself he
grows weaker. Everyone sees him getting weak and they start to worry. He lives with the
physician so he should start to feel better but he constantly gets worse. The author writes, How
feeble and pale he looked, amid all his triumph! (Hawthorne page 238). Though Dimmesdale is
successful in his job his heart and body are failing him. He has done so much harm to himself all
because of his sin. Throughout Dimmesdale s life he has suffered because of his sin. There were
only a few who knew why he was suffering until the very end of his life. Roger Chillingworth

Pensive Bodhisattva And Korean Buddhist Art
Pensive Bodhisattva and Korean Buddhist Art Our lives are closely connected with an art.
People easily regard an artwork as something that is far from our lives, but it is always around
us. Now, I would like to introduce one of Buddhist artworks of Korea. The title is Pensive
Bodhisattva. The artist is unknown. However, it was made in mid 7th century during the Three
Kingdom Period. The dimension of this artwork is 8 7/8 inch and the medium is gilt bronze. It is
located in Gallery 233 among other Korean artworks at the Metropolitan Museum of Art now.
Pensive Bodhisattvahas typical features of the Buddhist artworks. Also, the interesting aspect is
we can see the unique features of the Three Kingdom Period s artwork through this sculpture.
When we see this sculpture at first, the most noticeable point is the bodhisattva s posture. He
sits on the dais and he puts his right leg over his left leg. The right leg also props his right elbow
and his fingers especially the forefinger and the middle finger touch his right chin and he rests
his left hand neatly on his right ankle. The description of his fingers and toes are very realistic.
When we see the fingers and toes, we can feel how the artist put his or her blood into sculpting
each fingers and toes. However, his posture seems agonizing. When we take a closer look his face,
his eyes are closed and he puts gentle smile on his lips. For that reason, his posture reminds us his
anguish, but at the same time, his facial expression

Coconut Grove Fire
Cocoanut Grove
The Cocoanut Grove was a restaurant and supper club located in downtown Boston,
Massachusetts. The building was built in 1927 and was located near Park Square. The Grove,
as it was called, had been very popular during the late 1920 s, but had come across hard times
during the 1930 s. In the early years of World War II the restaurant became very popular again. In
1942, The Grove was the popular place to be and where everyone liked to hang out. The building
was a single story structure with a basement below. A bar, called the Melody Lounge, occupied
the basement as well as the kitchen, freezers, and storage areas. Located on the first floor was a
large dining room, a ballroom with a bandstand, and several bar areas separate ... Show more

Guests started heading for the only public exit from the Melody Lounge, which was a four foot
wide staircase that lead to the foyer on the first floor. Furnishings caught fire, and a wave of fire
and toxic gases spread across the room heading toward the stairway. Panic came over the crowd
and attempts to open the emergency door at the top of the stairs failed. The fire spread up the
stairs and into the foyer area, which contained the coat rooms, restrooms, and the main entrance.
The panic continued as cries of FIRE! FIRE! were shouted by patrons as the crowd raced toward
the main entrance door. The first few were able to exit through the revolving door, but as the mass
of patrons slammed into the exit the doors became jammed. People outside the building looked
on as they watched their friends and relatives get crushed by the crowd surging against the
jammed door. The fire then spread to the dining room where most of the guests where gathered
together in anticipation of the start of the 10pm show. It is estimated that more than 1000 people
were inside the Grove at the time of the fire. Just as it happened downstairs, panic overcame the
crowd and guests tried to find the exits. Many of the exits were locked shut or not easily
noticeable. The blaze now had total control of the building and the temperature inside was rising
tremendously as were the levels of toxic gases. The streets in the area of the Grove were small and

My Journey Of My Life Essay
My Journey My crew was about to make history. Legs in my chest, ankles in my thighs, head
against the wall... I was ready for this. The words, Everyone, out! overwhelmed me. I had made
my way down a thick rope, and saw the vast amount of people awaiting me. All the citizens were
hushed asleep blind to what was to come. Nonchalantly, I took my recently sharpened spear out
of my back pocket. It was time, and our crew made our first move. The whole scene was all a blur
to me; sharp cries and agonizing grunts. We had made a victory and sailed off from Troy back
home. My name is Aesop and I m here to tell you the story of my journey. I grew up with Odysseus
as a little boy and thought it was out of loyalty to join him on this voyage. Our journey continued
as we made our way to the far shore of Ismarus. We plundered all that existed there. Not only had
we killed men, but we had enslaved women. The Cicones were alarmed and called for their army.
We fought against them, but lost some of our men along the way. The ship was more empty, but
their souls still remained. We then made our way to a place named the land of the Lotus eaters. The
most kind hearted people lived here. They offered this foreign plant called the Lotus. Apparently it
put
Mettler 2 people into a trance. Odysseus warned us not to eat it and we boarded the ship.

Antliff And Leighten Summary
In Primitive, Mark Antliff and Patricia Leighten argue that in various topics, primitive can either
have positive or negative connotations. They also specify that the term is not a classification but
rather a comparison to its inverse: civilized. Antliff and Leighten explicitly discuss its use in the
fields of time and space, gender, race and class to support their argument. Using primitive in the
context of time and space is the most simplistic of their examples, as they say that primitive is
plainly to be constant and in tune with the wilderness. Its opposite, civilized, is likewise defined as
to advance and expand. Antliff and Leighten give examples of that an artist who is primitive can
create art through his intuition rather than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such a primitive artist may live in a different time frame or geographic location than than the
reference civilized artist. They then play with the idea that the two genders can be described as
primitive and civilized. Antliff and Leighten say that females are generally depicted as the primitive
gender, and males to be the civilized gender. They explain that females are regarded this way
because it was thought that women were more in tune with nature through their ability to ensure the
continuity of the human race. Young British women however, had lost some of their primitiveness
and had become more civilized, losing their libido. This forced some British men to seek women
that were not from their country, or even continent, to find women that were more primitive and
thus more sensual. These women were more primitive because as Antliff and Leighten explain

2.2 Relationship of Critical Thinking with Education Socrates (25 hundreds years ago) found
students inability in justifying their beliefs with rational judgment (Paul 2). Stonewater (33 57)
pointed out that in 1980 s teaching of critical thinking skill for college students developed rapidly.
Teaching of critical thinking skill in education has a controversial issue whether it should be taught
as a separate subject or part of curriculum (Adams and Hamm 38). In this context, Norris (1 2)
stated that critical thinking should be taught as a separate subject while Ruggiero ( 413) and
McPeck (13, 34) argued that teaching of critical thinking must be part of all disciplines. In any case,
critical thinking can be taught with different subjects rather than an autonomous skill. Thus, critical
thinking suggests an inclination to use critical thinking as Facione (3) said , We understand critical
thinking to be purposeful, self regulatory judgment which results in interpretation, analysis,
evaluation, and inference, as well as explanation of the evidential, conceptual, methodological,

Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside...
Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of
examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge
different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles,
but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were
making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not
seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can
be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and
innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of
the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to
tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all
staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations
2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman, John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I
found to be the most interesting and applicable to current events in health care. They discussed how
the internet and social media affect changes and ways that administration in health care systems
can combat issues that arise online. It also discussed some of the positives of contemporary
technologies and how crucial it is to have a

The Human Skeleton Can Offer More Information Than Meets...
The human skeleton can offer more information than meets the eye. In fact, when analysing an
individual s skeletal features it is possible to constitute a biological profile. In this essay, I aim to
explore the multiple elements that a human skeleton could shed light upon such as age, sex, stature,
diet, health and trauma.
Due to the natural breakdown of the skeleton with age, the determination of age at the time of
death becomes less precise the older the individual gets. Therefore age is most precisely estimated
in subadults (Adams, 2009). One of the most reliable indicators is the individual s dental
development. Teeth develop from before birth to about 18 years of age, when the formations come
to a conclusion. The observation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another technique to assess the age in subadults is to observe the epiphyseal fusion of the bones,
which takes place at a foreseeable rate (Adams, 2009). An example of this technique is the
Greulich and Pyle s atlas of the skeletal development of the hand and wrist, which studies in
particular the epiphyseal fusion of the metacarpals and phalanges, as well as the development of the
carpals (Anderson, 1971).
For adult individuals, it much harder to get an accurate age estimation due to the fact that people
age differently which also allows for more variation making the estimation intervals much larger
(Adams, 2009). In adults, age can be estimated through the study of different parts of the thoracic
cage and the pelvis. The first part of interest is the medial clavicle. Age is determined through the
study of the epiphyseal fusion. The epiphysis in those bones is the last to fuse and usually starts
between the ages of 18 and 25. When the medial clavicle is fully fused the individual is in
general over 25 years old (McKern, 1957). The second part of the thoracic cage that is used to
ascertain age is the sternal end of the fourth rib. The characteristics looked at are the formation of a
pit, its depth and shape, configuration of the walls and rim surrounding it, and the overall texture
and quality of the bone (Iscan, 1991, p617). With age, the pit found at the top of the rib deepens and

Persuasive Reflection Paper
I never really thought about the problem that was going on until it happened to me, it was a
block hour at my old school classes 6 12th grade were together. It was a normal day just like
every other, we did everything we were supposed to. We all gathered in the gym to do our group
study thing that we always did on Thursday.
We were asked to stand up to do the pledge, when suddenly, I noticed that some people were not
standing. When it was over, we sat back down and I turned to my friend and asked what was
going on and asked why they did not stand, she looked at me and said that it was because of the
Black Lives Matter thing that was going on and because Colin Kaepernick had kneeled during the
anthem. I really didn t know how to feel, I was more upset than anything because I was always
taught to stand for the pledge and respect the flag cause many people have fought and risked
their lives for it everyday. People were disrespecting it for a reason they don t even know simply
because they saw it on T.V. and want to join the bandwagon. I went to my principal after that and
told her what had happen and how I didn t think it was right. Therefore, the next day when I came
to school they were all dressed in black and were wearing the african garments. I at that point
knew what they were doing. They were going to protest in school the whole day. I was getting

Cuban Missile Crisis Analysis
The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the Missile Scare, was a 2 week period in October of
1962 that was a result of increasing tensions amongst the United States and the Soviet Union.
Tension between the US and the USSR is not new and is known as the Cold War, often stated to
be a period between 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Unionin 1991. Intelligence gathered over
the span of couple months all seemed to lead to the common conclusion that the Soviet s are
installing offensive nuclear weapons that will be able to reach continental US in mainland Cuba.
The initial spark seemed to be the awfully failed attempt to invade Cuba, also known as the Bay of
Pigs invasion under the Kennedy administration, and the presence of American Jupiter Ballistic
missiles in Turkey and Italy. What is interesting about the Cuban Missile crisisis how the Kennedy
administration confronted the issue. The Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military officials of the
United States pushed for a full on invasion, which could trigger a world wide nuclear war.
Kennedy wanted to avoid a full on confrontation, making him seem intelligent but weak . In the
film, Thirteen Days, based off the memoir of Robert F. Kennedy, Thirteen Days, where Robert
wrote about his point of view of the Cuban Missile Crisis, revealed how complex and mentally
demanding it was to resolve and dissipate tensions with the Soviet Union without causing World
War III. Photographic intelligence taken by a spy plane going over mainland Cuba revealed
about 40 intermediate range ballistic missiles capable of reaching continental United States.
There were 3 options; diplomatic talks and international pressure, a blockade, or a full on
invasion. The Joint Chiefs of Staff pushed for a full on invasion, meanwhile the Kennedy s
pushed for a less aggressive move. EXCOMM, the Executive Committee of the National Security
Council composing of the NSC and key advisors the President hand picked, met in the White
House during the crisis to discuss how to proceed on the issue. The film revealed how much the
Joint Chiefs of Staff disliked Kennedy s methods and how much they wished to act on their own.
Nuclear missile tests were conducted independent of the oval office, seen

Agritech Pros And Cons
Biotechnology is the manipulation of microorganisms, through DNA manipulation and bioprocess
manipulation for industrial, health, and food industries. Although, there are many different types of
biotechnologies; agriculture is the leading type of biotechnology that has affected humans for
thousands of years and will continue to make a large impact for the future of humanity. What
exactly is agricultural biotechnology? Agricultural biotechnology, or agritech, is a combination of
tools to improve or manipulate microorganisms, or parts thereof, for agricultural use such as bacteria
resistant, improve crop yield, and the list goes on. Biotechnology, in specifies, agricultural
biotechnology has been used for thousands of years. Scientists do not have a specific date as to
when agritech was first utilized, but they have concluded that approximately ten thousand to twenty

Transcendental Dialectic Analysis
The relational structure of Ideas The project of the transcendental dialectic is well known. Kant s
primary aim is that of warning us against the danger involved in the misunderstanding and
hypostatising of the concepts of reason.5 Nonetheless, this section of the Critique of Pure Reason
does not play a purely negative role; instead, it furthers a positive enquiry of what Reason is, what
its contents are, and what is their purpose. These concepts, also labeled as ideas of pure reason or

other words, they are related to the transcendental premises of possible experience, that is, to

Snowball Vs. Napoleon s Animal Farm
Asher Barrett

Snowball vs. Napoleon Snowball and Napoleon both had different opinions how Animal Farm
should be run. They both had a common goal but they both had a completely different way to
achieve that goal. If Napoleon had an idea Snowball would have a completely different idea that
would lead in a different way. There are three ways that Napoleon and Snowball were different.
First everything Napoleon took part in would benefit himself not the whole Animal Farm.
Second was that Napoleon never showed interest in the strength of the Animal Farm but only in
the strength of his authority over it. Lastly Napoleon would take more to brute force while
Snowball was a very good and persuasive speaker. The first way that Napoleon and snowball
were different was that while Napoleon only cared about how everything would benefit himself.
Snowball cared nothing about himself and would care only for the benefit of the Animal Farm.
One early example of Napoleon s selfishness was when he secretly raised the puppies for his own
purpose. Snowball had many different ideas and plans that would lessen the workload upon the
animals. Napoleon at first seemed to strongly disagree with all the plans and wanted no part in
any of it but then after he got rid of Snowball he brought the ideas all back up and claimed them
as his own. Snowball was also a big enthusiast of animalism and wanted it to spread to all the other
farms while Napoleon only wanted to be superior

Gender and Advertising
How Gender Shapes Meaning
The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, It s
a girl.
Shirley Chisholm
Men are dogs and women are cats. Women are from Venus and men are from Mars. Writers,
filmmakers, psychologists, and advertisers all have used the idea that men and women are
different to develop stories, create conflict, and provide persuasive imagery. Not only do advertisers
view men and women differently, but men and women also bring different perspectives to
advertising. Thus, we can assume that men and women create dif ferent meanings from the
advertisements they see. Gender roles in our society have changed dramatically since ... Show more

Once the meaning from an advertisement has been determined, men and women differ in how that
meaning is used. These different decision making processes are related to whether the process is
linear or more nonlinear in nature. Men process messages and make decisions more quickly than
women do, perhaps because men focus on the primary mes sage of a given advertisement and take
in little other information during the process. This is due to the observation that men have a linear
thinking and reasoning style, and men tend to have a more task oriented focus than women have.
Women, on the other hand, process the information in an advertisement quickly and from many
levels and sources, including music, visuals, voice over, and text. Women also tend to evaluate and
weigh the various sources to process the message and determine what steps to take next. Women s
reasoning processes are less task oriented and more compartmentalized than men s are. Women s
decision making processes are characterized as being incremental reasoning processes, where each
piece of information builds on the previous information that is taken in. This non linear approach to
reasoning allows women to think in terms of interrelated factors, not straight lines. The observation
that women evaluate multiple sources supports this reason ing style (Fisher, 1999).
Women and men respond to entirely different stimuli when viewing and evaluating advertising

In June, 1975, Indira Gandhi s government declared a state of emergency and suspended civil
liberties. Immediately after this declaration, the government tightened its controls on the Indian

the Summer of 1975, as Indira Gandhi became increasingly more threatened by the mounting

also by moulding the media t o her own purpose. It has now becomea well known fact that during
the emergency Indira Gandhi had a firm grip
on the Indian mass media. This was especially true since radio and television in India are
government owned and operated; for Indira, there was the simple matter of controlling the
newspapers in order to achieve a total control of the mass media. She used at least three methods in

newsagencies;and
(3) use of fear arousal techniques on newspaper publishers, journalists and individual shareholders.
The Indian newspapers depend a great deal on governmental advertising; without such revenues, it
would be difficult for many
Indian newspapers to stay in business. Unfortunately, this has kept many ofthem vulnerable

The geocentric view of the universe was long since developed in ancient Greece by an
astronomer named Claudius Ptolemy (AD 90 168). Ptolemy believed that the sun, stars and other

Earth. It wasn t long until Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 1543), an astronomer from Poland came up
with a new theory that the solar system actually revolved around the sun. He invented the idea of
a solar system. Revolutions (1543) was Copernicus final work explaining the heliocentric view of

The Marks Of An Educated Man By Richard Butler
An educated person can be described in many ways as to what makes them smarter. In the essay
The Marks of an Educated Man, Butler puts his point across as to what he believes should be the
characteristics for an educated person. The use of one s language must be used very well if he
wants to project himself as an educated man. To show others how smart you are, you need to be
able to speak your language and very well at most. What a person knows is very important but not
in just one field, he must seek to obtain knowledge from other sources and experiences.. Also a

The Influence Of Physically Abusive Relationships

big factors in determining if you re in an abusive relationship. They are a real thing, take it from
someone who knows. So what can you do if you are in one? 1. Get out of it. As fast and as soon
as possible, the scary thing about emotionally abusive relationships is they eventually turn into
physically abusive relationships. 2. Cut them off, block them on everything, move out, get rid of
their stuff, and do not contact them. 3. Go to therapy and yes, it may sound weird, but most
abusive relationships leave you feeling worthless and you will eventually go back to that chaos
or find a worse one without mental help. 4. If they begin to threaten you or stalk you, get a hold
of the police and file a restraining order if necessary. 5. Move on, you may have thought you loved
them, but they have brainwashed you into thinking that how they treated you was okay. IT S NOT
OKAY. Find someone who can understand what you ve been through and help you recover. 6.

The Case Of Johnson Johnson
Although emergencies are unexpected by nature, the true character of a company is revealed by
how they react and handle a crisis. In 1982, seven individuals died in Chicago from taking Extra
Strength Tylenol capsules, which were laced with cyanide. Tylenol became one of Johnson Johnson
s most successful products, accounting for 17 percent of the company s profits. Extra Strength
Tylenol constituted 70 percent of all Tylenol sales (Lazare). Johnson Johnsonalso enjoyed an
incredible amount of trust and goodwill from the public, nurtured in part by its allegiance to the
company credo of responsibility to employees, consumers, stockholders, and the community.

Instead, the company advertised in the national media for individuals not to consume any products

they offered to exchange all Tylenol capsules already purchased by the public with solid tablets
(Lazare). Johnson Johnson offered a $100,000 reward for the capture and conviction of the Tylenol
Killer whom was never found (Yang). The media commended Johnson Johnson for it s handling of
the crisis; for example, an article in The Washington Post said, Johnson Johnson has effectively
demonstrated how a major business ought to handle a disaster. The article further stated that this is
no Three Mile Island accident in which the company s response did more damage than the original
incident, and praised the company for being honest with the public (Kaplan). Johnson Johnson
could have easily blamed the stores for not protecting their product and for allowing someone to
tamper with the capsules. This could possibly have led to a lawsuit because the Johnson Johnson
brand was briefly tarnished from public outcry and scrutiny, which ultimately hurt their business
and reputation; something that money cannot restore. Like most large companies, Johnson Johnson
could have dismissed the situation by preparing a simple written statement or apology in response
to the seven deaths, which would deflect their liability in the situation. In my

Analyzing The Current And Future Economic Status Of Ohio
Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio
Abdulaziz Musallam December 4, 2014
Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio
This paper will start by tackling the economic situation in Ohio by defining the main terms which
we will use from time to time in this economic analysis. We will define recession and depression in
order to put these matters in the right perspective. According to the National Bureau of Economic
Research (NBER), recession is the period when business activities have reached its peak and a fall
starts. This continues until the time when those business activities reach the bottom. In average, a
recession lasts for one year. Depression on the other hand is a downturn in economic activity. A
great example is the Great Depression of 1930. The term recession was coined during this period in
order to differentiate the event of 1930 from the smaller economic declines of 1910 and 1913
(Smiley, 2008). So we can lightly say that a depression can be said to be a recession that lasts
longer and its business activity decline is larger.
Having defined both the recession and depression, we can point out the difference. The changes
in GNP are the best test to use in getting the differences between the two terms. For a depression,
the GNP declines by more than 10 per cent (Moffat, n.d). On the other hand a recession is an
economic decline that is less severe. A number of world leaders have warmed of the looming
economic

Melancholia In Orestes Research Paper
Ancient Greece, depression was referred to as melancholia. Melancholia was portrayed in
Orestes, ______. In a vase from 400 BC, Orestes is drawn having a ceremony to get rid of
vengeful spirits that would not leave him alone since his mother was killed. In the book Orestes
by Euripides, Orestes is depicted as a helpless, exhausted and motivationless person who barely
ever wanted to eat but was constantly crying and sleeping. Jason the Argonaut is another Greek
work that has to do with melancholia. Jason is described as a hero who is always in action
trying to resolve problems. However, he becomes a helpless and bad tempered person when his
ship is wrecked on the coast of Libya. In the 4th century BC however, melancholia began to be
viewed as an illness in Greek scientific work. For example, the physician Hippocrates wrote that
melancholia was a depressive temperament that resulted when bodily humors or fluids were not
balanced. According to Hippocrates, the body was composed of blood, yellow bile, black bile,
and phlegm. When someone became ill, it was thought that there was an excess amount of a

history, causes and treatments of melancholia, while also making sure it was seen as a blessing.

Parental Neglect By Roald Dahl s Matilda And Neil Gaiman...
Child abuse, in any form, is cause for outrage. This makes the question of whether neglect, benign
or otherwise, is better than violence hard to consider. According to Canada s Public Health Agency,
parental neglect, at 34% of cases, is the most commonly reported form of child maltreatment (31).
In Roald Dahls Matilda and Neil Gaiman s Coraline, parental neglect is contrasted against
violence as both are shown to be psychologically detrimental to a child, while the impact of these
imperfect parents is able to help a child redefine their sense of self.
The overt neglect of her prodigal intellect experienced by Matilda leaves her feeling
misunderstood and an outsider in her family which differs from the perceived neglect which
leaves Coraline struggling with her sense of self. Born to parents described as gormless (Dahl
4), Matilda is both blessed and cursed with a prodigal intellect. Causing Matilda to crave
knowledge, it is her intellect that leads her at the age of four years and three months (9), to defy
her parents and everyday walk to the library. Matilda admits to this neglect to Mrs. Phelps, the
librarian, when she tells her of her mother, She doesn t encourage reading books. Nor does my
father (10). With this statement Matilda shows how her parents have neglected to foster her
intellect. Matilda s eagerness to digest information, and the fact that the only book in the
Wormwood home is her mother s cookbook, elaborates how she differs from her parents.

Information System Based On Data Mining Techniques
Aims, objectives and possible outcomes The key aim of this project is to develop an information
system based on data mining techniques to build upon existing customer relationships and
increase profit. Part Parcel Computers has been at the forefront of the computer parts industry for
the past fifteen years. They have developed a reputation for the cheapest computer parts by
focussing on a cost leadership strategy. P P computers have a loyalty card programme that
provides discounts and benefits to its customers but has not used this collected data to specifically
identify and target its loyal customers. Unless P P computers build sales volume with the data, it is
merely an overhead without any tangible benefit (Cox, 2012). The objective... Show more content

Ultimately, P P computers can gain a competitive advantage through understanding the desires and
needs of their loyal customer base. Furthermore, this project will also use association rules within
customer segments to predict what items are most likely to be purchased together thus informing
future business decisions. Background: Loyalty programmes have rapidly proliferated in almost
all consumer focussed industries. In the United States alone, explicit opt in programme
memberships topped 2.6 billion in 2012 (IIDA, 2014). The vast amount of transactional and
demographic data gathered from loyalty programmes has been used by many organisations to
drive business decisions. The use of supervised and unsupervised learning has been used to gather
different information about customer desires, trends and loyalty. There are two primary modelling
approaches, they are recency, frequency and monetary (RFM) model and the customer life value
model (CLV). The RFM model focusses on three key metrics; how recently a customer has
purchased, how often they purchase and how much money they spend. On the other hand, the CLV
model attempts to predict the amount of money a customer will spend with the company from
present day till the time the business relationship is terminated. Gupta et al (2006) indicate that the
main limitation to RFM models is that they use a scoring system and do not provide a specific
dollar value. However, there are successful cases where an RFM model was

Crime Statistics Comparison
Comparison of Crime Statistics
Crime statistics endeavour to provide statistical measures of crime in societies. They provide a
point of analysis and comparison, allow countries to form long term patterns and trends and can
help to develop and reform criminal justice policies as well as being more meaningful than raw
numbers. Using the countries of Bahrain and the United States as a comparison point for the
following issues which surround crime statistics such as biases, agendas and general influences
like education and religion; this essay will be focused around analysing the statistical factors and
wider influences which can allow a country to have low or high crime rates.

Wider Influences:
Bahrain is a country which operates on all levels in relation to the teachings of the Qur an. This
makes up the fabric of life for the Bahraini people, the influence of the Islamic religion can be
seen in the economic, political and social pathways of life within the culture of the country. In
Bahrain, religion is the most important structure. The Islamic religion opposes wrongdoing in
all its forms and that any wrongdoing can lead to the downfall of society. The teachings of the
Prophet attempt to get rid of all forms of crime before it happens by influencing the individuals
who follow the religion. Acts against the law therefore is not only a crime against society in the
eyes of Bahraini people it is also a violation of the principles of God. In Bahrain there are even
moral police officers who regulate the dress and public behaviour of citizens (Helal, 1991). As
the Qur an provides the basis for society, it also provides the base for which laws are made. All
laws however have major influence from the Western cultures, apart from marriage, divorce and
succession which all fall under the Shari ah. (Souryal, 1988)Therefore religion is a major influence

Essay on Did William Shakespeare Write the Plays and...
Throughout the last century, a raging phenomenon known as the Authorship Debate , has come
to light. It disputes whether Shakespeare himself wrote the plays and sonnets or if it was
someone else writing under a pseudonym. There are countless theories of who the writer might
actually be but the main suspects are Shakespeare himself, Edward de Vere, Sir Francis Bacon,
Christopher Marlowe, William Stanley, Roger Manners, Sir Walter Raleigh and Mary Sidney
Herbert (Pressley). The first to be presumed the writer is Shakespeare himself. Many theorists
believe it wasn t Shakespeare due to the fact that he was born in Stratford Upon Avon, which was a
poor countryside area. Shakespeare was a glove maker with a low level of education. He wasn t a...

But the fact remains that his name, whether he wrote the plays or not, is credited as the author
so in some way shape or form he wrote the plays. Sir Francis Bacon is the next suspect. Sir
Francis Bacon was an advanced thinker as well as someone of high standing. During the
Elizabethan Era, if someone was of high standing and social class, they were so noble that they
had no reason to partake in anything revolving the theater, which was beneath them. That being
said, it was supposedly it is one of the reasons why he would become anonymous if he was to
post anything. The main evidence people use to prove that he was in fact the write was his book
Promus. According to Summary of Baconian Evidence for Shakespeare Authorship, the only
Shakespeare notebook, which is a collection of words, phrases and sentences, is actually Promus
written by Francis Bacon himself. Promus was written between the years of 1594 1956,
whereas all of Shakespeare s plays and poems were written in the 1600 s. In most of Shakespeare
s plays, there were some words, phrases, even sentences used. For example, in Henry V, Act 3,
Scene 7, the line A fool s bolt is soon shot. is also in Promus. Another one, for example, is in not
only one but four plays. In Merry Wives of Windsor Act 3, Scene 4, Henry IV, Act 2, Scene 2, The

Developmental Changes Of Temporal And Spectral Parameters
Tatiana Lyons SLHS3305W Assignment Three 12/1/16 Research Article Critique Lee,
Potamianos, and Narayanan studied acoustics of children s speech: developmental changes of
temporal and spectral parameters in 1998. The researchers conducted the study to explore the
relationships between different aspects of speech (formant frequencies, fundamental frequency,
and segmentation patterns) and age and gender. Better understanding of these relationships
would provide information that could be used to improve technology used for speech
recognition, which is necessary because speech recognition technology often has trouble
recognizing children s speech (p. 1455). In addition, the authors stated, a more chronologically
detailed acoustic database (p. 1455) could provide important information regarding the
relationships between developmental acoustic patterns and underlying anatomical and
neuromuscular development (p. 1455). Two hundred and twenty nine male speakers and 207
female speakers in between the ages of five and 18 as well as 29 male speakers and 27 female
speakers in between the ages of 25 and 50 participated in the study. Researchers asked the
participants to read five different sentences off of a computer screen, and each sentence appeared
twice in a session. Younger participants read single words, and if a participant did not know how
to read a particular word or sentence, they listened to a recording. The words and sentences were
chosen because they consisted vowels

Hockey Is The Root Of The Racism
Hockey fans are the root of the racism in hockey. For many decades Canadians have known
hockey as being their national sport. There are black Canadians, Asian Canadians, and Aboriginal
Canadians. What are the differences between those Canadians citizens but the pigment of their
skin? There is racism in hockey it is just not as clear as other forms of racism. Canadais so
welcoming and is a very diverse counrty. Hockey fans are so cruel and reluctant for change in
their world. The focus of this paper is on the lack of diversity in hockey. What will be examined is
the differences between black and white people, society s perception on hockey, Canada s history
with the sport and diversity. The overall question is: is it the sport or is it the people? Some
people may argue that Canada is one of the most multicultural countries in the world especially
in sports, but how deeply do Canadians embrace this diversity? Racism in sports occurs because
of both individual and team sports. This is main cause of the reported incidents in the media. It
is not the sport itself that induces racism it is the organizers and players that bring racism into
sports. However, without the involvement of people/society there would be no sport at all.
Therefore, it is very important that we make people more aware that there needs to be a notion of
fair play (telegraph). Hockey fans are protectionists by nature. We have to defend our game against
any ill perception toward it. , said local hockey

Didion On Critical Thinking
Klooster: Independent thinking is one of the many key words the author uses. By Independent
thinking the author means that each person forms his or her own ideas. That however does not
mean that they cannot agree with someone else but that they have the ability to choose whether
or not they do. A passage in the text that I found interesting is when the author finally states the
fifth form of critically thinking, which is social thinking. I found this passage important
because the author is write. Critically thinking is influenced by those around us because they
challenge not only our norms but our ideas. Whether we notice if we are thinking critically or
not. The passage where the author states the fourth form of critical thinking, which is seeking
reasoned arguments. For critically thinking one has to defend a claim or point out why they
believe such claim is correct or better and by doing do they need evidence. So while we might
all be entitled to our opinion we should research why we believe a certain thing is superior than
another thing. Didion: The overall purpose of Didion s essay is to show you her writing process.
Which is that something so vague like a picture or a memory can create a whole novel. She

New Issue Of New Federalism
New Federalism is known as commitment to returning powers to the state governments.
Proposed by President Ronald Reagan, who believed federal grants were just a scandal of
imposing the federal interests on the states. Reagan believed that federal government would allow
a more efficient government within the states and the nation. This reminded America of the main
point now of the 10th amendment that because the states are created under the the federal
government, it should work for the states, and not be overpowered. New Federalism is also
known as Competitive Federalism due consent struggle of the national and local government
trying to be equal. Many states liked the idea of New Federalism because new grants were given
to states with less restrictions and states and they were given a choice on how to spend these
grants. With this concept, many laws were made in order to enforce this New Federalism: the
Unfunded Mandates Reform Act of 1995 disallowed Congress from passing federal programs or
services without consulting states on how they would be funded. The Devolution Revolution in
1994, a movement led by former House Representative, Newt Gingrich, and by republicans who
desired to scale back the federal government though campaigning. Overall with this time period,
including now, we see how Ronald Reagan wanted to cease national government power through the
Supreme Court and appointed justices in the 1980s that would be dedicated to returning power to
the states. This

Relationship Between Henson And Peary
Matthew Henson and Robert Peary had a strong relationship. They both had a need for
exploration, fame, and danger, and Henson s need is one of the reasons he started traveling with
Peary. The two men met when Henson was working at a clothing and hat store, when Peary
walked in and offered him a job. This job was to be his personal servant while he was on an
expedition in Nicaragua. Peary was going to head an engineering team to see about the possibility
of digging a canal across Nicaragua. Henson later wrote that he saw qualities in Peary that made
him want to participate in his services. After that expedition, Peary approached Henson with an
idea. He wanted to raise money to go to the arctic and wanted Henson to go with him. On their

Author, Bill Bryson, in the book, Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe takes his readers on
a journey backpacking around Europe. Bryson s purpose is to indicate the contrast between
Luxembourg and American cities, specifically, New York City. He maintains an energetic and
humorous tone throughout the text in order to illustrate his experience and feelings of
admiration to the American readers. Bryson begins his story by recounting his first day in
Luxembourg. He recalled his experience by saying, I felt like someone stepping out of doors for
the first time. Bryson felt like this because countless things in Luxemburg were different than
what American cities have to offer. He used a simile, by saying he felt like someone stepping out
of doors for the first time, in order to make the description more relatable and vivid to the
audience. A simile is when an author compares two things using like or as; it causes the audience

used when an author exaggerates a basic statement in order to have the audience consider the
distinction. The people of Luxembourg are from another country; they are not from another world.
Bryson began his story by describing how overwhelmed he was when he discovered that many
things in Luxemburg were completely different than in New York. He continued to list many of
these contrasts. At the end of the second paragraph, he realized that the people of Luxembourg
probably have never seen what makes up New york. Bryson ends the story by expressing that the

SOAP
SOAP first came into being in 1998 after being developed by Microsoft, however, it was not until
SOAP version 1.2 was released in June 2003 that SOAP became a World Wide WebConsortium
(W3C) Recommendation. This is also where SOAP ceased to be known as Simple Object Access
Protocol and remains to this day as SOAP.
The main reason for its development was to supersede some of the older communication
technologies that weren t as effective when being used across the internet such as Distributed
Component Object Model (DCOM) and Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA)
SOAP is a communication protocol that utilises Extensible Mark up Language (XML) to define the
messaging framework and send messages from one application to another via other protocols such
as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.
It can be used in conjunction with Web Services Description Language (WSDL). This language
is for the descriptions of web services and how to go about locating and accessing them. As with
SOAP, WSDL is also XML based. WSDL is also a W3C Recommendation.
A SOAP message has four main elements. These elements are an; envelope, header, body, and a
fault element. See Fig 1 for a visual breakdown of the SOAP message structure.

The Ethical Theory Of Ethics
What is the right thing to do when you re faced with corruption in the work place? Should you
simply condone the behavior, participate in it, or remove yourself from the situation? Is there more
at stake here than just your own interests and prosperity? This essay will look at a case study
involving corruption in a local countygovernment. In this case, Jenny must decide whether or not
to expose the rampant corruption prevalent in her workplace. Should Jenny turn a blind eye
thereby avoiding any negative consequences, or should she expose these actions and possibly
compromise her career aspirations? In considering her case, I believe the best choiceJenny should
make involves her exposing the corruption. I will argue for this position through the utilitarian
theory of ethics. Before I argue for what Jenny should do, we should first look at the options
available to her. Jenny could choose to ignore the obvious theft and misuse of public funds and
property. Additionally, she could accept the nepotism displayed by the rest of her coworkers. The
immediate benefit to her would be in maintaining the status quo. Jenny would continue to work
here until such time as she would be able to move onto another government work place. But
choosing this option would mean she would be indirectly approving of the behavior we know has
made her uncomfortable. Besides the guilt she would experience, Jenny would also be subject to
possible prosecution once the corruption was discovered. For

Aspects Of Current Kikuyu Culture
Aspects of current Kikuyu culture were molded by modern demands impressed upon them by
British colonization. British colonists brought western ideas about living standards and health
care, as well as projecting British ideals of family life upon the Kikuyu people. In the 1950 s, as a
reaction to this imposition of western beliefs and practices upon the people of Kenya, the Mau Mau
began to fight the existing British infrastructure. This uprising was a final divide in the Kikuyutribe
based on the members desire to either adapt to modern customs or continue to try to live with their
old culture. In many ways, British colonization continues to have a lasting and substantial cultural
impact on the Kikuyu today.
To comprehend the effect that British colonization had on the Kikuyu people, first we have to
examine the pre colonial Kikuyu society. The ancestors of the Kikuyu participated in the Bantu
expansion, a millennia long phenomenon during which Bantu speaking peoples migrated from
Western Africa to various regions in Southern and Eastern Africa (The Bantu Migrations). Prior to
European intervention, the structure of Kikuyu society was relatively egalitarian. The people of
the Kikuyu did not practice slavery, and made no attempts to garner prisoners from neighboring
tribes or villages. The political structure of the Kikuyu tribe was divided among nine separate
clans. These clans were all related along maternal lines, and oftentimes lived in very close
proximity to one

  • 2. My Life In The Trenches Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific stench of the soldiers who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the families of those lost brothers of mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons, husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to my brothers I have lost. I try to justify... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that holding our ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved city, Paris. Although we know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a chance to drive those nasty Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the sleep I longed for had eluded me as normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost no one on our side got much sleep. Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious, excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no good way to fight a battle in these trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger on Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others, but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us that I find pride in ... • 3. An Analysis Of Shirley Jackson And The Lottery Many people are following crowds all over the world. Some crowds are not the best to follow yet people still follow them. Following a crowd can be misleading and can also l have consequences. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson takes place in a small village on June 27th, with about 300 people. The characters in the short storyare Bobby, Harry Jones, Dickie Delacroix, Mr. Summers, and Mr. Hutchinson. The main idea of First They Came... by Martin Niemoller, is standing up for what is right isn t always the easiest path. I believe that following a crowd, and standing up for what is right is not always the right path or easiest path. To begin with, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is different than First They Came... by Martin Niemoller because the themes are not the same The Lottery conveys that following a crowd can lead to consequences; for example, in paragraph 19, All ready? he called. Now, I ll read the names heads of families first and the men come up and take a paper out of the box. In other words, this shows that all of the people of the town participated in the traditional game. In paragraph 77, Tessie Hutchinson was in the center of a cleared space by now, and she held her hands out desperately as the villagers moved in on her. It isn t fair, she said. A stone hit her on the side of the head. In this paragraph Tessie Hutchinson is about to get stoned to death because she picked the slip of paper that had the black dot on it. Also, in paragraph 15 it states ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. General Education And Special Education Co Teaching Expectations Division of Labor General education and special education teacher are require to work together as a team to ensure the students in the inclusive classroom setting is learning with the accurate accommodation and tools to fit their needs. The general education and special education teacher work together to create a lesson plan to which it targets all areas of learning for all students in the inclusive classroom setting. Both teachers should sit together to discuss their concerns for their students and contact the parents together to allow the parents to understand it is a team working as a unit. Space Furniture As both teachers should have a desk to complete work, the desk should be on opposite ends of the classroom for instance, one in the back of the classroom and one in the front as each teacher should be the eyes for each other. The classroom desk should allow room for both teachers to move around freely along with a table for small group learning and/or one on one help. In certain situation a table may cause the room to become too small, grouping a group of five student s desks together will allow the inclusive teachers to conduct small group lesson for the students to complete together, which will allow the general and special education teacher to work with a group of students who need additional help. • 5. How A Company Can Use Its Weaknesses And Opportunities The GE case is an example of how a company can use its weaknesses and opportunities to further its progress. The company saw the potential of the internet in changing businesses. Moreover, for a change to be effective and be felt across the organization, it must start from the top as Jack Welch showed by taking typing classes. Further, companies should embrace technology involve their clients whenever planning to change. This was seen when GE decided to launch the icenter to connect with customers on its products and services. GE s strategy, like the other companies, chose to change its way of doing businessby embracing the power of the internet and seeking to be a leader in the field (Laudon Laudon, 2014). Rand McNally, on the other hand, provides businesses with lessons, such as changing the corporate culture to embrace productivity. The company had to do away with the conservative corporate culture. The CEO of the company chose to personally interact with employees through an open door policy and responded personally to emails. This is reminiscent of Welch s leadership at GE. Moreover, businesses should incur worthwhile risks to generate more income in addition to addressing the needs of their target audience. Businesses can learn from the Randy McNally case that proper planning is essential to a business, which is opposite to what boo.com did hence their failure. Like, GE, Income, Mashaweer, and B N, Rand McNally chose to address the needs of its clients. The boo.com ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. It Is Better to Have Tried and Failed Than to Have Never... It s better to have tried and failed than not to have tried at all Do you agree? The saying actions speak louder than words can be applied to this scenario. Many people often dare to dream but fear stops them from ever moving forward on their goals. The fear of failure, of not knowing if it is possible to accomplish what may seem like the most unrealistic dream a person sets out to achieve. One example we can learn from is one of the greatest swimmer the world has seen, Ian Thorpe. Four time Swimming World s Swimmer of the Year, Ian Thorpe once said, I think it s better to attempt something and fail than it is to not even attempt it, so I m glad that I ve been prepared to put myself on the line there. Till today, these words... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Speaking from personal experience, failure is the mother of success, and without overcoming the challenge posed to me, I would not make it a step further. For example, ever since I stepped on the podium in the primary school swimming nationals, I have always wanted to have the chance to do it again in the secondary school, scoring more points for my school. This year was the last year the school nationals where I could have a chance on stepping on the podium once again and I made use of the opportunity I was given. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in the afternoon for strength as well as water training. The number of times I would turn up could go up to ten times a week. This arduous task went on for four to five months and in between, I still had to make sure that I was keeping up with school curriculum. At the recent national schools, I competed and instead was placed 5th, missing the podium by a whopping one second. Although I failed to reach the goal I set out to achieve, I knew that there was nothing else I could do as I have always wanted to represent the country in the Combined School Games and the recent National Schools Swimming Championship would have been my chance to qualify for the games. I started training extremely hard, to a point where I was at the pool at 5 in the morning and back again after school at 4 in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Expansion Of Islamic Rule In Europe during 1250 1350, the major technological advancement, firearms, was significant in influencing Europe s rulers. Although created between the mid 13th and 14th century, firearms, such as cannons and muskets, weren t fully developed to be efficient and reliable in warfare until the mid 1400 s. Due to an increase in firearms, rulers began to create centralized, fiscal military states to finance their strategic shift to firearm bearing infantries (542,). Rulers also began to implement imperialism, extending a country s power and influence through military force, which had been a dormant policy for decades. The reason for reverting was a result of developing commonwealths between the competing realms, consisting of the religious civilizations of Islam and Christianity. The people who led the expansion of Islamic rule, first over the Eastern Orthodox Christians and eventually over the Western, the Ottomans, frequently attempted to raise immense amounts of currency in silver and gold purely for the sake of obtains firepower in the hopes of world ruling. But as Abu Lughod would reason, that was a long shot to begin with. Low on money, the Ottoman Sultans compensated their military commanders with parcels of conquered land, also known as land grants. Property used in land grants, typically farmed by local villagers, generated rental income for officers of their regimes. However, once the Ottoman rulers had gained control over more cities and progressed over long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Reverend Dimmesdale Is a Sinner Essay Arthur Dimmesdale has continually suffered because of the sin he has committed. He is tortured by his only friend who is really his enemy. He grows weaker day by day because he will not confess his sin. He starves himself and whips himself. He has a daughter but no one can know. People look up to him and he does not want to let them down. If only people knew that he committed adultery with Hester Prynne. In Nathaniel Hawthornes, The Scarlet Letter, the author writes, While standing on the scaffold, in this vain show of expiation, Mr.Dimmesdale was overcome with a great horror of mind, as if the universe were gazing at the scarlet token on his naked breast, right over his heart. On that spot, in very truth was, and there had long been,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dimmesdale will not even be seen in public with Hester and Pearl. He wants to be able to be with his daughter and the love of his life but then people would know that he committed adultery with Hester. Pearl asks, Wilt thou stand here with Mother and me, tomorrow noontide? to only hear, Not so, my child. from Dimmesdale in return (Hawthorne page 144). Dimmesdale not being able to be with whom he loves is is a struggle. Dimmesdale is constantly harming himself because of his sin. He whips himself on a regular basis feeling as if it is only right to punish himself for his sin. He starves himself as well. Every time that he whips or starves himself he grows weaker. Everyone sees him getting weak and they start to worry. He lives with the physician so he should start to feel better but he constantly gets worse. The author writes, How feeble and pale he looked, amid all his triumph! (Hawthorne page 238). Though Dimmesdale is successful in his job his heart and body are failing him. He has done so much harm to himself all because of his sin. Throughout Dimmesdale s life he has suffered because of his sin. There were only a few who knew why he was suffering until the very end of his life. Roger Chillingworth made Dimmesdale s life awful. Hester Prynne was the woman he loved but had to hide his feelings for. Pearl was his daughter who never felt the full love of her father. Dimmesdale hurt himself all ... • 9. Pensive Bodhisattva And Korean Buddhist Art Pensive Bodhisattva and Korean Buddhist Art Our lives are closely connected with an art. People easily regard an artwork as something that is far from our lives, but it is always around us. Now, I would like to introduce one of Buddhist artworks of Korea. The title is Pensive Bodhisattva. The artist is unknown. However, it was made in mid 7th century during the Three Kingdom Period. The dimension of this artwork is 8 7/8 inch and the medium is gilt bronze. It is located in Gallery 233 among other Korean artworks at the Metropolitan Museum of Art now. Pensive Bodhisattvahas typical features of the Buddhist artworks. Also, the interesting aspect is we can see the unique features of the Three Kingdom Period s artwork through this sculpture. When we see this sculpture at first, the most noticeable point is the bodhisattva s posture. He sits on the dais and he puts his right leg over his left leg. Panic came over the crowd and attempts to open the emergency door at the top of the stairs failed. The fire spread up the stairs and into the foyer area, which contained the coat rooms, restrooms, and the main entrance. The panic continued as cries of FIRE! FIRE! were shouted by patrons as the crowd raced toward the main entrance door. The first few were able to exit through the revolving door, but as the mass of patrons slammed into the exit the doors became jammed. People outside the building looked on as they watched their friends and relatives get crushed by the crowd surging against the jammed door. The fire then spread to the dining room where most of the guests where gathered together in anticipation of the start of the 10pm show. It is estimated that more than 1000 people were inside the Grove at the time of the fire. Just as it happened downstairs, panic overcame the crowd and guests tried to find the exits. • 12. My Journey Of My Life Essay My Journey My crew was about to make history. Legs in my chest, ankles in my thighs, head against the wall... I was ready for this. The words, Everyone, out! overwhelmed me. I had made my way down a thick rope, and saw the vast amount of people awaiting me. All the citizens were hushed asleep blind to what was to come. Nonchalantly, I took my recently sharpened spear out of my back pocket. It was time, and our crew made our first move. The whole scene was all a blur to me; sharp cries and agonizing grunts. We had made a victory and sailed off from Troy back home. My name is Aesop and I m here to tell you the story of my journey. I grew up with Odysseus as a little boy and thought it was out of loyalty to join him on this voyage. Our journey continued as we made our way to the far shore of Ismarus. We plundered all that existed there. Not only had we killed men, but we had enslaved women. The Cicones were alarmed and called for their army. We fought against them, but lost some of our men along the way. The ship was more empty, but their souls still remained. We then made our way to a place named the land of the Lotus eaters. The most kind hearted people lived here. They offered this foreign plant called the Lotus. Apparently it put Mettler 2 people into a trance. Odysseus warned us not to eat it and we boarded the ship. • 13. Antliff And Leighten Summary In Primitive, Mark Antliff and Patricia Leighten argue that in various topics, primitive can either have positive or negative connotations. They also specify that the term is not a classification but rather a comparison to its inverse: civilized. Antliff and Leighten explicitly discuss its use in the fields of time and space, gender, race and class to support their argument. Using primitive in the context of time and space is the most simplistic of their examples, as they say that primitive is plainly to be constant and in tune with the wilderness. Its opposite, civilized, is likewise defined as to advance and expand. Antliff and Leighten give examples of that an artist who is primitive can create art through his intuition rather than... They explain that females are regarded this way because it was thought that women were more in tune with nature through their ability to ensure the continuity of the human race. Young British women however, had lost some of their primitiveness and had become more civilized, losing their libido. This forced some British men to seek women that were not from their country, or even continent, to find women that were more primitive and thus more sensual. Teaching of critical thinking skill in education has a controversial issue whether it should be taught as a separate subject or part of curriculum (Adams and Hamm 38). Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles, but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations 2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman, John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I found to be the most interesting and applicable to current events in health care. In fact, when analysing an individual s skeletal features it is possible to constitute a biological profile. In this essay, I aim to explore the multiple elements that a human skeleton could shed light upon such as age, sex, stature, diet, health and trauma. Due to the natural breakdown of the skeleton with age, the determination of age at the time of death becomes less precise the older the individual gets. Therefore age is most precisely estimated in subadults (Adams, 2009). One of the most reliable indicators is the individual s dental development. Teeth develop from before birth to about 18 years of age, when the formations come to a conclusion. The observation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another technique to assess the age in subadults is to observe the epiphyseal fusion of the bones, which takes place at a foreseeable rate (Adams, 2009). An example of this technique is the Greulich and Pyle s atlas of the skeletal development of the hand and wrist, which studies in particular the epiphyseal fusion of the metacarpals and phalanges, as well as the development of the carpals (Anderson, 1971). For adult individuals, it much harder to get an accurate age estimation due to the fact that people age differently which also allows for more variation making the estimation intervals much larger (Adams, 2009). In adults, age can be estimated through the study of different parts of the thoracic cage and the pelvis. The first part of interest is the medial clavicle. Age is determined through the study of the epiphyseal fusion. The epiphysis in those bones is the last to fuse and usually starts between the ages of 18 and 25. When the medial clavicle is fully fused the individual is in general over 25 years old (McKern, 1957). The second part of the thoracic cage that is used to ascertain age is the sternal end of the fourth rib. The characteristics looked at are the formation of a pit, its depth and shape, configuration of the walls and rim surrounding it, and the overall texture and quality of the bone (Iscan, 1991, p617). It was a normal day just like every other, we did everything we were supposed to. We all gathered in the gym to do our group study thing that we always did on Thursday. We were asked to stand up to do the pledge, when suddenly, I noticed that some people were not standing. When it was over, we sat back down and I turned to my friend and asked what was going on and asked why they did not stand, she looked at me and said that it was because of the Black Lives Matter thing that was going on and because Colin Kaepernick had kneeled during the anthem. I really didn t know how to feel, I was more upset than anything because I was always taught to stand for the pledge and respect the flag cause many people have fought and risked their lives for it everyday. • 20. Cuban Missile Crisis Analysis The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the Missile Scare, was a 2 week period in October of 1962 that was a result of increasing tensions amongst the United States and the Soviet Union. Tension between the US and the USSR is not new and is known as the Cold War, often stated to be a period between 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Unionin 1991. Intelligence gathered over the span of couple months all seemed to lead to the common conclusion that the Soviet s are installing offensive nuclear weapons that will be able to reach continental US in mainland Cuba. The initial spark seemed to be the awfully failed attempt to invade Cuba, also known as the Bay of Pigs invasion under the Kennedy administration, and the presence of American Jupiter Ballistic missiles in Turkey and Italy. What is interesting about the Cuban Missile crisisis how the Kennedy administration confronted the issue. The Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military officials of the United States pushed for a full on invasion, which could trigger a world wide nuclear war. Kennedy wanted to avoid a full on confrontation, making him seem intelligent but weak . In the film, Thirteen Days, based off the memoir of Robert F. Kennedy, Thirteen Days, where Robert wrote about his point of view of the Cuban Missile Crisis, revealed how complex and mentally demanding it was to resolve and dissipate tensions with the Soviet Union without causing World War III. Photographic intelligence taken by a spy plane going over mainland Cuba revealed about 40 intermediate range ballistic missiles capable of reaching continental United States. There were 3 options; diplomatic talks and international pressure, a blockade, or a full on invasion. The Joint Chiefs of Staff pushed for a full on invasion, meanwhile the Kennedy s pushed for a less aggressive move. EXCOMM, the Executive Committee of the National Security Council composing of the NSC and key advisors the President hand picked, met in the White House during the crisis to discuss how to proceed on the issue. The film revealed how much the Joint Chiefs of Staff disliked Kennedy s methods and how much they wished to act on their own. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the meaning from an advertisement has been determined, men and women differ in how that meaning is used. These different decision making processes are related to whether the process is linear or more nonlinear in nature. Men process messages and make decisions more quickly than women do, perhaps because men focus on the primary mes sage of a given advertisement and take in little other information during the process. This is due to the observation that men have a linear thinking and reasoning style, and men tend to have a more task oriented focus than women have. Women, on the other hand, process the information in an advertisement quickly and from many levels and sources, including music, visuals, voice over, and text. Women also tend to evaluate and weigh the various sources to process the message and determine what steps to take next. Women s reasoning processes are less task oriented and more compartmentalized than men s are. Women s decision making processes are characterized as being incremental reasoning processes, where each piece of information builds on the previous information that is taken in. This non linear approach to reasoning allows women to think in terms of interrelated factors, not straight lines. Johnson Johnson offered a $100,000 reward for the capture and conviction of the Tylenol Killer whom was never found (Yang). The media commended Johnson Johnson for it s handling of the crisis; for example, an article in The Washington Post said, Johnson Johnson has effectively demonstrated how a major business ought to handle a disaster. The article further stated that this is no Three Mile Island accident in which the company s response did more damage than the original incident, and praised the company for being honest with the public (Kaplan). Johnson Johnson could have easily blamed the stores for not protecting their product and for allowing someone to tamper with the capsules. This could possibly have led to a lawsuit because the Johnson Johnson brand was briefly tarnished from public outcry and scrutiny, which ultimately hurt their business and reputation; something that money cannot restore. Like most large companies, Johnson Johnson could have dismissed the situation by preparing a simple written statement or apology in response to the seven deaths, which would deflect their liability in the situation. Analyzing The Current And Future Economic Status Of Ohio Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio Abdulaziz Musallam December 4, 2014 Analyzing the Current and Future Economic Status of Ohio This paper will start by tackling the economic situation in Ohio by defining the main terms which we will use from time to time in this economic analysis. We will define recession and depression in order to put these matters in the right perspective. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), recession is the period when business activities have reached its peak and a fall starts. This continues until the time when those business activities reach the bottom. In average, a recession lasts for one year. Depression on the other hand is a downturn in economic activity. A great example is the Great Depression of 1930. The term recession was coined during this period in order to differentiate the event of 1930 from the smaller economic declines of 1910 and 1913 (Smiley, 2008). So we can lightly say that a depression can be said to be a recession that lasts longer and its business activity decline is larger. Having defined both the recession and depression, we can point out the difference. The changes in GNP are the best test to use in getting the differences between the two terms. For a depression, the GNP declines by more than 10 per cent (Moffat, n.d). On the other hand a recession is an economic decline that is less severe. A number of world leaders have warmed of the looming economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Melancholia In Orestes Research Paper Ancient Greece, depression was referred to as melancholia. Melancholia was portrayed in Orestes, ______. In a vase from 400 BC, Orestes is drawn having a ceremony to get rid of vengeful spirits that would not leave him alone since his mother was killed. In the book Orestes by Euripides, Orestes is depicted as a helpless, exhausted and motivationless person who barely ever wanted to eat but was constantly crying and sleeping. However, he becomes a helpless and bad tempered person when his ship is wrecked on the coast of Libya. In the 4th century BC however, melancholia began to be viewed as an illness in Greek scientific work. For example, the physician Hippocrates wrote that melancholia was a depressive temperament that resulted when bodily humors or fluids were not balanced. According to Hippocrates, the body was composed of blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm. When someone became ill, it was thought that there was an excess amount of a substances. • 41. Parental Neglect By Roald Dahl s Matilda And Neil Gaiman... Child abuse, in any form, is cause for outrage. This makes the question of whether neglect, benign or otherwise, is better than violence hard to consider. According to Canada s Public Health Agency, parental neglect, at 34% of cases, is the most commonly reported form of child maltreatment (31). In Roald Dahls Matilda and Neil Gaiman s Coraline, parental neglect is contrasted against violence as both are shown to be psychologically detrimental to a child, while the impact of these imperfect parents is able to help a child redefine their sense of self. The overt neglect of her prodigal intellect experienced by Matilda leaves her feeling misunderstood and an outsider in her family which differs from the perceived neglect which leaves Coraline struggling with her sense of self. Born to parents described as gormless (Dahl 4), Matilda is both blessed and cursed with a prodigal intellect. Causing Matilda to crave knowledge, it is her intellect that leads her at the age of four years and three months (9), to defy her parents and everyday walk to the library. Matilda admits to this neglect to Mrs. Phelps, the librarian, when she tells her of her mother, She doesn t encourage reading books. Nor does my father (10). With this statement Matilda shows how her parents have neglected to foster her intellect. Matilda s eagerness to digest information, and the fact that the only book in the Wormwood home is her mother s cookbook, elaborates how she differs from her parents. ... The RFM model focusses on three key metrics; how recently a customer has purchased, how often they purchase and how much money they spend. On the other hand, the CLV model attempts to predict the amount of money a customer will spend with the company from present day till the time the business relationship is terminated. He maintains an energetic and humorous tone throughout the text in order to illustrate his experience and feelings of admiration to the American readers. Bryson begins his story by recounting his first day in Luxembourg. He recalled his experience by saying, I felt like someone stepping out of doors for the first time. Bryson felt like this because countless things in Luxemburg were different than what American cities have to offer. SOAP SOAP first came into being in 1998 after being developed by Microsoft, however, it was not until SOAP version 1.2 was released in June 2003 that SOAP became a World Wide WebConsortium (W3C) Recommendation. This is also where SOAP ceased to be known as Simple Object Access Protocol and remains to this day as SOAP. The main reason for its development was to supersede some of the older communication technologies that weren t as effective when being used across the internet such as Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) and Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) SOAP is a communication protocol that utilises Extensible Mark up Language (XML) to define the messaging framework and send messages from one application to another via other protocols such as Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. It can be used in conjunction with Web Services Description Language (WSDL). This language is for the descriptions of web services and how to go about locating and accessing them. As with SOAP, WSDL is also XML based. WSDL is also a W3C Recommendation. A SOAP message has four main elements. These elements are an; envelope, header, body, and a fault element. Should you simply condone the behavior, participate in it, or remove yourself from the situation? Is there more at stake here than just your own interests and prosperity? This essay will look at a case study involving corruption in a local countygovernment. In this case, Jenny must decide whether or not to expose the rampant corruption prevalent in her workplace. Should Jenny turn a blind eye thereby avoiding any negative consequences, or should she expose these actions and possibly compromise her career aspirations? In considering her case, I believe the best choiceJenny should make involves her exposing the corruption. I will argue for this position through the utilitarian theory of ethics. Before I argue for what Jenny should do, we should first look at the options available to her. Jenny could choose to ignore the obvious theft and misuse of public funds and property. Additionally, she could accept the nepotism displayed by the rest of her coworkers. The immediate benefit to her would be in maintaining the status quo. Jenny would continue to work here until such time as she would be able to move onto another government work place. But choosing this option would mean she would be indirectly approving of the behavior we know has made her uncomfortable. Besides the guilt she would experience, Jenny would also be subject to possible prosecution once the corruption was discovered. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Aspects Of Current Kikuyu Culture Aspects of current Kikuyu culture were molded by modern demands impressed upon them by British colonization. British colonists brought western ideas about living standards and health care, as well as projecting British ideals of family life upon the Kikuyu people. In the 1950 s, as a reaction to this imposition of western beliefs and practices upon the people of Kenya, the Mau Mau began to fight the existing British infrastructure. This uprising was a final divide in the Kikuyutribe based on the members desire to either adapt to modern customs or continue to try to live with their old culture. In many ways, British colonization continues to have a lasting and substantial cultural impact on the Kikuyu today. To comprehend the effect that British colonization had on the Kikuyu people, first we have to examine the pre colonial Kikuyu society. The ancestors of the Kikuyu participated in the Bantu expansion, a millennia long phenomenon during which Bantu speaking peoples migrated from Western Africa to various regions in Southern and Eastern Africa (The Bantu Migrations). Prior to European intervention, the structure of Kikuyu society was relatively egalitarian. The people of the Kikuyu did not practice slavery, and made no attempts to garner prisoners from neighboring tribes or villages. The political structure of the Kikuyu tribe was divided among nine separate clans. These clans were all related along maternal lines, and oftentimes lived in very close proximity to one ...
