Smart Fat Research Paper
Fat is often labeled as the reason for obesity however it seems like there is sufficient proof that fat in
itself does not cause weight gain. In 1977, the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human
Needs recommended a dietary guideline that limited fat intake to no more than 30% per day.
According to statistics, the instances of obesity started to increase around the same time fat was
villanized and low fat products became more popular. Furthermore, similar studies claim that the war
on fat led people to substitute butter and lard with processed low fat food which are high in artificial
flavoring and sugar.
More and more health enthusiasts are learning that not all fat is bad for the body. In fact, recently Dr.
Jonny Bowden and Dr. Steven Masley, a nutrition experts, published their book entitled Smart Fat,
which details the benefits of consuming the right kind of fat to losing weight. ... Show more content

He explained that Masley have seen firsthand what fat deprivation does to the body and according to
him, it is not good.
He further explains that their Smart Fat diet plan has one basic principle five portions of smart fat, five
portions of clean proteins and 10 servings of fiber. He claims that most of the pitfalls of people who
embrark on a high fat, low carb diet is not including enough fiber in their meal plan. According to the
doctor, fiber helps in the weight loss process and it prevents diabetes and heart disease.
The doctor was quick to explain that more than diet there are many more factors that affect weight
loss. However he seemed more than certain that his fat laden diet is key to losing weight in the

T.S. Eliot s View of the Human Condition in The Hollow Men...
T. S. Eliot was a man who strongly believed that poetry should represent life. He knew that life was
complex, so that is why his poetry was difficult to understand not only for students writing research
papers, but also for critics. He was the backbone of modernist poetry, who wrote mostly about
darkness, despair, and depression in life. He tried and succeeded to capture the torment of the world
during World War 1 and World War II (Shmoop T.S. Eliot ). Eliot s view of the human condition is
evident in The Hollow Men through the issues of fear, despair, and depression. The poem starts out
with a couplet. The first line talks about a man who is dead. In the second line it talks about giving a
penny to an old guy. Why does Eliot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gives several examples of meaningless things such as wind in dry grass, and rats feet over broken
glass in a cellar. Why does the story sound so quiet? The story is quiet because Eliot wants to get the
point across that the Hollow Men truly are not significant in any way. Even when they talk amongst
themselves, they amount to nothing (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis ). The narrator goes on to say
that people who die see the Hollow Men before they pass onto death s other kingdom. What do the
dead people pass over? The dead people pass over the river Styx, which in greek mythology is the
pathway you must cross in order to go to Heaven or Hell (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis ). He
makes a point to say that the Hollow Men are not lost as violent souls. Why do the Hollow Men stay
around the area where people cross from life to the afterlife? The Hollow Men do not cross the river to
enter Heaven or Hell because they did not admit their mistakes in order to be sent to Hell, and they are
blind, so they cannot know where the river is and how to cross it (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis
). The narrator does not want to make eye contact with something in a dream. What does the narrator
not want to make eye contact with? The Hollow Men do not want to make eye contact with the people
that are in heaven because they do not want the people to know anything about them (Shmoop The
Hollow Men Analysis ). He proceeds to say there are voices in the wind that are

The American Red Cross Disaster Services Team
Introduction Throughout the semester, I have been able to volunteer for the American Red Cross
Disaster Services Team. This has been one of the most beneficial volunteer opportunities that I have
ever accomplished. As an American Red Cross of Georgia Major Gift Officer, this volunteer
experience allowed me to gain knowledge in a department that serves as the backbone of the
American Red Cross. As a nonprofit fundraiser, it is difficult to truly see the mission that your team
raises money for every single day. Fundraisers at the American Red Cross are trained as sales people,
and before this volunteer experience I had never even been on a Red Cross disaster response call.
Throughout the duration of the semester, I was able to gain true insight into the core of the
organization and mission. This opportunity allowed me to not only enhance my career at the American
Red Cross, but gave me a 360 degree view of the entire organization and the fundamentals of the Red
Cross mission.
Red Cross Mission and History The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to
those in need primarily during times of disaster. The American Red Cross mission is to prevent and
alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the
generosity of donors (American Red Cross). The organization focuses on five key service areas:
1. People affected by disasters in America
2. Support for members of the military and their families
3. Blood

Cost Effectiveness Of A New Technique For A Common...
Cost effectiveness of a new technique for a Common surgical procedure
In this present era of technological revolution, a scientific breakthrough or an advancement is a
common event. It is a tough task for any organization to maintain the balance between staying ahead
with the scientific know how and aligning the cost effectiveness of each intervention, which they are
accountable for, without compromising highest levels of patient management, safety and care.
Therefore, any new technique has to be cross examined not only for the robust clinical effectiveness as
to its competitors and also to justify its economic worthiness.

2) Assessment provides a systematic evaluation of evidence available on the technology along with a
critical analysis of the clinical and cost effectiveness of the intervention. It has two parts
a. Systematic review of literature
b. Economic evaluation / Cost effectiveness analysis.
3) Appraisal Appraisal committee provides evidence based on analytic report and proposes
recommendations.
Defining scope
1) This is one of the integral preliminary steps in evaluating a new technique. It defines framework for
appraisal and determines issues of interest. The following steps are involved:
a. Cohort involved with the disease condition
b. Level at which intervention is proposed like community/hospital
c. Cost effectiveness to the organization
d. Analysis of outcome measures with the potential comparators
e. Defines efficient time period in which effects and cost can be analyzed
f. Identifies the evidence base from which data is collected
g. Highlights social concerns of equality along with maintenance of quality of life outcome measures.
Systematic review of literature
A comprehensive evidence base forms the backbone of a systematic appraisal. Systematic evidence
gathering is done to minimize deficiencies database and quantification of limitations in database is
analyzed with reflection of uncertainty in the results. A meta analysis of all the evidence is done and
critically appraised.

Questions On Alternative Dispute Resolution
Since 1990s in England and Wales significant changes occur in the civil justice system. In response to
Lord Woolf s Final Report Access to Justice the time consuming and expensive litigation has slowly
been replaced by the Alternative Dispute Resolution, which has developed and evolved as a significant
method for resolving disputes.
Alternative dispute resolution is a broad concept, covering the full range of alternative activities
available for the most appropriate way of resolving civil problems from small claims to complex
commercial disputes. To reach a settlement, an ADR process is using a range of options, which can be
divided into two main groups: Adjudicative Options and Non adjudicative Options. In Adjudicative
Options the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disputes are arising everywhere around us, whether in the public sector or in our families. To deal
with all of them with competency the mediation practice is divided into different fields of activity and
outlining them is crucial. Most mediation providers are practicing the main fields of mediation such as
Civil and Commercial Mediation, covering the full range of civil and commercial disputes, Divorce
and Other Family Mediation, where usually are discussed breakdowns of spouses, Workplace and
Employment Dispute Resolution, which deals with all kinds of workplace disputes, such as
discrimination, sexual harassment and unfair dismissal, and others fields.
In the first years of this century the use of ADR, and more specific mediation, is gaining an extreme
popularity. Many cases changed the thinking about ADR and contributed to mediation s growth. In
April 1999 in England were introduced the Civil Procedure Rules that empowers the judges to
embolden mediation and other forms of ADR, where it is appropriate. Main example is the case of
Halsey v Milton Keynes NHS Trust, which puts the emphasis on the encouragement of the use of
ADR, and the existence of sanctions if one of the parties unreasonably refuses mediation. In April
2006 an important change is made in CPR that requires that the parties should consider whether some

Contributions Of William Golding
William Golding was a famous British author, poet, and playwright. Golding contributed to British
Literature by writing several works for which he was acknowledged. His most famous work is a novel
called Lord of the Flies which was published in 1954. Lord of the Flies is still being read today around
the world. In addition, two movie versions based on the novel were released. The first version was
released in the United States in 1963 and the second version was released in 1990. The Lord of the
Flies remains a relevant piece of literature today as it shows what happens in nature when there is no
central governing body. His pessimism about the nature of humanity was obviously reflected in his
writing. William Golding s childhood, school life, and war experience heavily influenced his work as
a playwright, poet, and an author of Lord of the Flies.
On September 19, 1911 William Golding was born at his maternal grandmother s house in Newquay,
Cornwall (England). This was approximately six years after his older brother Joseph was born.
Golding also had an adopted sister named Eileen. She was his blood cousin and was adopted in the
1930s. His parents were Alec and Mildred A. Golding (neé Curnoe). The whole family lived in
Marlborough, Wiltshire. Alec was a master of science at Marlborough Grammar School. Alec was also
a rationalist, religious skeptic, and an activist for the British Labour Party. Alec and Mildred

Music Classification Essay
The one thing that clearly defines America is the music. The music of this generation is incredible.First
off you can listen to anything you want with no judgment, You can even make Devoted friends over
the music. You have Jazz music and Musicals, Pop and Rap, Hardcore and Deathcore music,Kpop and
Dubstep, you name it it s out there somewhere and you can listen to it.Therefore so many people go to
music types on an impulse.Consequently I listen to almost every kind of music, I like to have my
friends send me music they re into. I can learn more about that friend; the music someone listens to
really does say a lot about them. Therefore,I also extend my knowledge and love for different types of
music.

The Silent Generation (people born in the 20s and 30s) had big band and swing. Baby Boomers (born
in the 40s and 50s) had rock and soul. Generation X (born in the 60s and 70s) had grunge and hip hop.
There s plenty of overlap, of course, and these are incredibly broad distinctions that don t take a lot of
other genres into consideration. But it s probably fair to say that these were the most defining
moments in music for each generation. This was taken from an article called The Sound of a
Generation. This clearly shows that music defines a generation, therefore also defines America.
Music is truly amazing, it really defines our social rankings and groups. For instance, people who dress
more grunge , tend to lean more towards rock and metal. While the theater kids lean more towards
Musicals and sometimes Jazz. People who listen to everything like me, we tend to not have a group

Self Assessment And Education Planning
Self assessment and Education Planning Through experience, I ve learned to pursue some
employment opportunities over others. I m not sure why, but some choices can be attributed to my
parents, peers, social status and the environment. These influences can also be credited to activities
that I participated in while growing up. For example, I enjoyed helping my mother care for my
younger sibling; this is probably why my strongest interest on the RIASEC spectrum falls within the
area of Education and training. Acquiring a Bachelor s degree, or Master s degree is required to work
in any of the fields assessed on the spectrum, along with the determination and skills to fulfill the
necessary requirements. Results in the interest profiler measured my Primary area of interest as (S)
Social and specifies several career options available by obtaining a degree in psychology. The profiler
outlined a person with social interest with a preference of being involved in assisting, encouraging
learning and personal growth. The Social type prefers to communicate, teach, and offer advice to
others, as opposed to working with objects or data. Occupations listed in the (S) category as suggested
from the O net material list matches in the area of Pre School Child Care Programs, Social Worker,
and Training and Development Specialist. From assessing my interests, I ve learned that my

Professional Athlete Research Paper
As a professional Athlete you practice and develop your skills so you can be the best of your ability.
You have to maintain your equipment to keep your body clean, as well as you have to train, exercise
and maintain your weight so your body can be in the best condition available. To be a professional
athlete you have to be a team player because you have to work with other players on the team and take
instructions from the coach. There are many work environments for professional athletes, like the field
or court in which they play on. Another environment would be the weight room or indoor facility, in
these places the athletes work on bettering their skills. Athletes have a very unusual work schedule

The Sea s Ability Of An Intertidal Rock Platform
Introduction
The sea s ability to produce an intertidal rock platform was first commented on as early as 1846 by
Ramsey, and then decisively classified into four themes by Trenhaile (1980), which is still relevant to
scientist studying the formations today. The four themes are: 1) the role of marine and subaerial
processes in platform development; 2) morphology of shore platforms; 3) modelling platform
development; and 4) measuring rates of erosion (Stevenson 1, 2000). Research has commonly
assumed that the origins of the shore platform are wave cut, however in recent years there has been
research into a wider range of platforms and process leading to more theories.
Defining and Distinguishing between Shore Platforms
In order attempt to distinguish between different types of shore platforms, the most basic form of
description is those, which slope seaward, and then those with a distinctive seaward edge
characterised by a cliff (Stephenson et al., 2013). Sunamura has helped characterize those cliffs with
the use of calling the slope edge a Type A Platform and a Cliff edge and a Type B Platform, this is
represented in Figure 1. Fig. 1. A visual representations of shore platform categories as described by
Sunamura (1992) in Kennedy (2015).
Morphological Approaches
It is a contentious issue amongst researchers as to whether weathering or wave erosion have a bigger
role in the development of a shore platform. Bartrum, 1935; Hills, 1972) both regard wave erosion as

You Can Not Go Through Life Without Having A List Of Rules
You can not go through life without having a list of rules. I hope to grow up and become a parent
myself and one thing that I hope to teach my children one day is that they need to work their hardest
until they succeed and that they need to learn from their failures. One quote that I really like is from
Thomas Edison who said, I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways not to build a lightbulb.
What I take from this quote is that life doesn t end after you fail, you need to take that failure and
expound on it and learn from it. I live by a lot of rules, I believe obeying rules is hard work but if I
obey them I will get a lot of things in return and that s what I hope my kids take away from life and
my rules, is that if you do something hard you ll get something great in return.
In my freshman year I was nominated to be the team captain of my baseball team and that night I was
really nervous because I didn t think I was the right person for the job because I am a quiet kid and I
just go to baseball to do two things, win and get better. I also get angry at people when they mess up
but I do usually keep it to myself. I was also really nervous when I was up to hit because I didn t want
to get hit by the ball. So I didn t really know how to be a team leader. That night I was sitting around

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus ( Sle ) As Simply Lupus
Abstract
Most know Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) as simply lupus. It is difficult to diagnose and treat
but the symptoms can be mentally and physically devastating for any patient. Many may not realize
the extent to which a person with SLE is affected on a day to day basis. It is important for healthcare
professionals to understand the disease process, including the cause, signs, symptoms, and treatment
of SLE. By understanding the aforementioned, healthcare professionals can assist with reporting signs
and symptoms to the patient s doctor to further reach a correct diagnosis, but to provide holistic care to
the patient. SLE is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease which means the body s immune system
fallaciously attacks healthy tissues and various organs, in this case, primarily the skin , joints, kidneys,
and brain of both men and women.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease which may affect many different
organs and tissues in the body. Lupus erythematous was first known as a skin disorder by Pierre
Cazenave a frechman in 1851. But even before the articles were found that went back to ancient
Greece. Lupus got its name because Lupus patients developed markings or rashes that resembled that
of a wolf. There are four types of Lupus, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Discoid Lupus
Erythematosus, and crossover or overlap Syndrome or Mixed Connection Tissue Disease. Individuals
of any age, sex, or race may develop the diseases.

Cosmological Argument
Examine the cosmological argument for the existence of God.
The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to prove that there is an
intelligent being that exists; the being is distinct from the universe, explains the existence of the
universe, and is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. The basic notion of
cosmological arguments is that the world and everything in it is dependent on something other than
itself for its existence. It explains that everything has a cause, that there must have been a first cause,
and that this first cause was itself uncaused.
Many philosophers have explored the cosmological argument, including Aquinas, in much depth,
through his Five Ways in the Summa Theologica. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frederick Copleston was a priest, and historian of philosophy who supported Aquinas rejection of
infinite regress. Copleston reformulated the argument by concentrating on contingency, which he
discussed in depth during a radio debate with Bertrand Russell in 1947. Copleston, like Aquinas,
argued that there are things in the universe which are contingent, for example, us we would not have
existed if our parents had not met. All things in the world are similar to this, nothing in the world is
self explanatory, and everything depends on something else for its existence. Therefore, we are forced
to search for an external explanation. The explanation must lead us to a cause which is self
explanatory, i.e. one which contains within itself, the reason for its own existence a necessary being.
The conclusion must be God. Copleston argues that if we don t accept the existence of an unmoved
mover , like Aquinas suggested, there is no explanation for the universe at all. Copleston believes the
universe is gratuitous without a first cause, because without an explanation, nothing has meaning
Everything is gratuitous. This garden, this city, and myself; when you suddenly realise it, it makes you
feel sick and everything begins to drift... that s nausea .
Leibniz, who wrote On the Ultimate Origination of Things , also supported the cosmological
argument; his argument is sometimes called the argument from

Unsolvable Obstacles

However, are those obstacles unsolvable? No. Just because there are obstacles in life doesn t mean that

Company Background Of The Company
KPMG Company Background
In 2012 the firm purchased the ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Managed Services business of Thomson
Reuters to further enhance its indirect tax compliance services. It made two acquisitions in 2011, as
well. KPMG L.L.P. bought Optimum Solutions, which provides management consulting and
implementation services to companies that use Oracle enterprise software. The move has enabled it to
serve clients with ERP and HR transformation needs. To boost capacity, the company and its UK
affiliate teamed up in 2011 to buy outsourcing advisory firm EquaTerra, adding another revenue
stream. The acquisition follows KPMG L.L.P. s 2010 purchase of the supply chain advisory services
unit of second tier accountancy Grant Thornton.
KPMG has been able to rebound from some past legal troubles. The drawn out drama began in 2005
when the firm admitted to unlawful conduct in an investigation by the Department of Justice. Former
partners of the firm created abusive tax shelters for more than 600 wealthy customers between 1996
and 2002; the unpaid taxes cost the Treasury more than $100 million. KPMG avoided criminal
prosecution by agreeing to pay $456 million in fines, restitution, and penalties. (A criminal indictment
led to the collapse of KPMG s former rival Arthur Andersen.) A federal jury found three ex KPMG
employees guilty in the tax shelter trial in 2008 (a fourth defendant was acquitted). Those former
managers were ordered to pay nearly $10 million in fines and received

Symbolism In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor uses symbolism to display various
hidden meanings throughout the story. One common theme portrayed by the symbols in the story is
the families impending death. Some examples regarding their impending death are the Misfits car, the
forest, the sky, the grandmothers hat, and prayer. The use of symbolism throughout the story allows
for readers to get a feel for what may occur. As evidenced in this short story, O Connor uses several
circumstances and objects that hint at what was going to happen next. In A Good Man is Hard to Find
symbolism is prominent in describing the outcome of the family s trip. One symbol that immediately
strikes as dark and deadly is the Misfits car. O Connor describes the car, It was a big black battered
hearselike automobile. (O Connor 476). This hearselike appearance symbolizes the family s imminent
death because the car literally holds dead people, this is a hidden signal that death has arrived. Since a
hearse carries the message of death, the car could also represent the gruesome past that the three men
are dragging along. Another example of symbolism in the story is the dark forest. Alike, the forest also
represents the impending death of the family. The author writes ...the line of the woods gaped like a
dark open mouth. (O Connor 477). The dark open mouth symbolizes the death they will all face as
they are lead into the forest, group by group to be killed. O Connor makes

And this amazingly helped me understand that there is no getting away from destruction. It really does

fantastic, especially because this was the first one that caught my eye. As I began to analyze it, I found
more and more ways to connect it to the reality of war. Many families who ve experienced losing their
loved one to war can relate to this photograph and agree there is no way out of the hardship. The
second photo is called Empty Boys. What s different about this photo from the other two is that it is

The Negative Effects of Job Automization In Zuboff’s, “In...
In Zuboff s, In the Age of the Smart Machine the reader develops a sense of how automation of jobs
can have a negative effect on the employees if implementation of new technology is not done
properly. Both the automation of the mill and the automation of the global bank had some similarities.
Both organizations went from a more oral and action on type of task to more of a data centered task.
We can see this clearly form Zuboff s examples. At the pulp mill, workers were used to making rounds
and checking the pulp consistency, which at that point the workers would make a decision if they need
to open or close a valve. This hands on task transitioned into a more data reading and monitoring task,
which was something that the workers were not specifically trained for. Instead, mill workers had to
be able to read the indicators and know the consistency of the pulp. Like the pulp mill, the global bank
ran into a similar problem. At the global bank, workers communicated with one another and passed
around documents for verification. For example, a clerk would hand a document to a loan approver
with the necessary information and the loan approver would check the documents and make a decision
if the loan should be approved or not. Once the decision is made, the loan approver would hand the
document back to the clerk. In other words, employees used each other to transfer documents through
communication and the physical action. The automation took all the communicating

What Does It Mean To Be An Adult
What age do you or others you know typically think people become an adult, it s close to eighteen
right, well some believe otherwise. You see, some think that once you can support yourself, you re

and not fully developed to the full extent your body will go you cannot be considered an adult. Plenty
of people believe that at the age of 18 you re an adult, legally yes, but your brain is still growing
which means you re not grown up you need to finish growing before your grown up. The definition of

Organized Crime In America
Organized crime in America comes in many structures, yet it was the Mafia that developed with the
most elevated profile and aided in various demonstrations of Congress to enable law authorities to

generally indistinguishable from political corruption. In the first half of the twentieth century, the law
had regularly been known to choose not to see to illegal activity in light of personal involvement, the
risk of striking back, or political weight. In spite of the fact that organized crime long originates before
Prohibition, it was the illegal production and distribution of alcohol that made endless offenders

The Working Principle Of Eddy Current Brake Mechanism
ABSTRACT
This paper presentation explores the working principle of eddy current brake mechanism, which can
be
Analyzed by Maxwell 3D Transient solver. An eddy current brake, like a conventional friction brake,
is
Responsible for slowing an object, such as a train or a roller coaster etc. Unlike the friction brakes,
which apply pressure on two separate objects, eddy current brakes slow an object by creating eddy
currents through electromagnetic induction which create resistance, and in turn either heat or
electricity. In this paper, linear Halfback magnetized mover is applied to eddy current braking system
for high speed. For such a breaker, we give analytical formulas considering end effects for its
magnetic field, eddy current distribution, forces according to the secondary relative permeability, and
conductivity. The results given here are purely analytic applicable.
I. INTRODUCTION
Magnetic brakes
Magnetic brakes are a relatively new technology that is beginning to gain popularity due to their high
degree of safety. Rather than slowing a train via friction (such as fin or skid brakes), which can often
be affected by various elements such as rain, magnetic brakes rely completely on certain magnetic
properties and resistance. In fact, magnetic brakes never come in contact with the train.
Magnetic brakes are made up of one or two rows of neodymium magnets. When a metal fin (typically
copper or a copper/aluminum alloy) passes between the rows of magnets, eddy currents

Apache Concept Of Wisdom
Wisdom is of unlimited importance in our daily lives. As humans, one cannot survive without wisdom.
The Apache culture says, Wisdom is viewed first and foremost as an instrument of survival. (131).
Like air, without wisdom humans cannot flourish. Therefore, it is of extreme importance that, as
humans, we find a way to discover wisdom and integrate it into our lives. However, Wisdom is not the
same for everyone and therefore how each of us finds or locates wisdom might look different.
Throughout this course we have discussed the concept of place and how it can help us find infinite
wisdom. The Apache people tell us that to find wisdom we must have three mental conditions

The Apaches people say, steady human minds maintain themselves in a manner that ensures their own
stability and reliability. This is achieved by relinquishing all thoughts of superiority and by eliminating
aggressive feelings towards fellow humans beings (133). Nursing has allowed me to start to develop
this skill. It has allowed me to let go of negative and harsh feelings. As humans, if we are constantly
worried about being better or jealous of someone else that we will never be able to develop a smooth
mind. In life, as well as nursing school, there is always someone that is going to be better at something
than you are or is going to get a higher grade. As humans, it is natural that we would become jealous
of this or try to become superior to someone else. However, when we do this we are blocking our
chances to develop wisdom. The Apache s say, Steady minds are unhampered by feelings of arrogance
or pride, anger or vindictiveness, jealousy or lust all of which present hindrances to calm and
measured thinking (133). By holding on to these feelings we risk losing a chance to discover wisdom.
Places provide us with experiences that help us overcome these feelings and create a clear, steady

Personal Leadership Analysis Paper
Personal Leadership Analysis Elboraii, Mahmoud South University Personal Leadership Analysis
There are three styles of leadership have been used to describe leaders in certain situations. I can be
able to use the most of my skills if I have full understanding of my strengths and weaknesses
associated with style of leadership that fits my personality (Salesforce.com, inc, 2016). The first
leadership style is Autocratic in which the leaders understand the strength of the authority and sees
subordinates as important parts of a big machine. These leaders do not believe in opinion or

motivate my subordinates by setting a good example and starting with myself. So, if there is a process
has to be initiated I will have to be part of it. If there a task has to be executed, I will join the team in
executing this task. On the other hand, I always follow open door which means I will always have the

subordinates with the nature of our work as nurses which is means we are here to care for others and

Marco Polo was one of the first and most famous Europeans to travel to Asia during the Middle Ages.
He traveled to China and Mongolia, where he started working for Kublai Khan. Marco was born in
September 15, 1254, Venice, Italy. For most of Marco s life extended family members raised Marco.
His mother had died when he was young and His father, Niccolo, and his uncle Maffeo were

Kuhn And Popper Controversy
The purpose of this paper is to discuss Kuhn and Popper controversy and defend Pooper s point of
view in logistic positivism in relation to scientific discover. According to Moore (2010), positivism
assumes that scientific knowledge is the highest form of knowledge, and that scientific knowledge
comes from studying directly observable and measurable events. Both philosophers support the notion
of intellectual intuition to approve the theory through empirical evidence and experience. Although
both philosopher, Pooper and Kuhn, endorsed logical positivism, they disagree on their scientific
methodology to describe the natural of science and the scientific knowledge. Kuhn believed that
science develops through stages and these stages are susceptible to evolution to form the next
paradigm . Kuhn believed in scientific revolution that allows some flexibility in the theory to be
falsified or verified according to the circumstances surrounding the discovery of that theory. For
Kuhn, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argued that science in philosophy should be based on deductive reasoning and rational
observations rather than weak falsification or verification that Kuhn stands for. Pooper (1963) rejected
the complete dependence on believes and personal opinion as proposed by Kuhn (as cited in Schick,
2000). In fact, he believed in standardizing the scientific method to approach any conflict by
challenging scientists to falsify their theories all the time. Here, Popper had stronger strategy that test
theories constantly to achieve higher level of evidence. Moore (2010) stated that the statement of a
meaningful theory for Popper was the ability to identify what would falsify it when was tested against
the facts of experience. This approach seems to be more practical by its uniform and cohesive
structure to develop scientific theories. Thus, defending Pooper s position in this paper was

help with operations and even with control factors over the company. There are many different forces
that JNJ needs to be aware of. They need to be able to take full advantage of the opportunities and
prepare for the threats to maximize competitive advantage knowing the different trends. Potential
development of substitute products Competitive Analysis Porter s Five Force Model Rivalry among
competing firms Bargaining power of suppliers Bargaining power of consumers Potential entry of new
competitors Potential development of substitute products The existence of products outside of the
realm of the common product boundaries increases the propensity of customers to switch to
alternatives. Since pharmaceutical and medical devices are necessary for the maintenance of good
health, a significant decrease in use is not likely. The largest threat of substitutes comes from generic
pharmaceuticals. Once a drug loses patent protection, associated revenue usually rapidly falls. One
way to mitigate the effect of generic drugs would be to develop more compounds with lower sales,
perhaps by targeting more precise conditions. A similar threat of substitutes is

The Presence Of Rat Model Of Parkinson s Disease Induced...
The present study was established to show revealed the presence of neurochemical and
histopathological changes in the cerebellum of rat model of Parkinson s disease induced by the
intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This may change the strategy of the disease treatment that depends
mainly on the restoration of dopamine levels in the basal ganglia.
The present findings showed the development of hyperexcitability in the cerebellum of rat model of
PD induced by intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This was indicated from the significant increase in
the excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters; glutamate and aspartate and the significant decrease in
the inhibitory amino acids; GABA, glycine and taurine. These neurotransmitters are involved in many
functions such as motor behavior, cognition, and emotion (Ottersen and Storm Mathisen, 1986,
Schmidt et al., 1992)1,2. The balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is
important for brain to sustain proper neuronal function (Mel et al., 2004)[1]. Perturbation in
glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission is associated with several neurological and
psychiatric disorders (Sanacora et al., 2004) (3) [glutamate gaba balance 1].

Teen Suicide And Suicide
Recent studies have shown a rise in both teen suicides and self harm among adolescent girls. Suicide
among adolescent girls may occur as a result of mental disorders, drug misuse, cultural, family and
social situations, genetics, and most of all, cyberbullying (Ehmke). Based on a 2015 study, about 20%
of adolescent girls in the U.S. consider suicide and between 5% and 8% of them attempt suicide each
year (Ehmke). In 2014 alone, 150 girls out of 10 million, between the ages of ten and fourteen,
committed suicide due to cyberbullying among other related factors (Graham). Medical experts warn
that excessive social media and smartphone use may lead to cyberbullying. Most victims of
cyberbullying often experience a great deal of stress and anxiety leading to suicidal ideation (Ehmke).
An analysis by Jean Twenge, in The Atlantic, confirms that cyberbullying is more strongly related to
suicidal thoughts in adolescents than traditional bullying (Twenge). Some estimates suggest that
depending on the country of origin between 5% and 20% of adolescent girls are victims of physical,
verbal or exclusion based bullying, while 15% to 30% of them are victims of cyberbullying (Twenge).
The relationship between cyberbullying and suicide has only been explored in a few studies, but Jean
Twenge s analysis strongly suggests that cyberbullying is a major risk factor for suicide ideation in
adolescent girls (Twenge).
The new analysis by Jean Twenge tests this evidence by reviewing all

ultimately those with the tanks and machine guns held the most power and control. Although the Nazis

My thesis thus is that gods are not impotent but are in a lot aggrandized versions of man who control

(16. 439 457, pg. 363). This dialogue reveals one this about fate: it is changeable. Another instance
comes up again with Zeus trying to save to Hektor from his death. This time it is Athene who

means to ensure the mortality of man and also, a god loses respect when he or she breaks fate. But the
overall value of fate will be as a law. Fate appears to serve as a check and balance among the gods;
preventing them from doing as they please to mortal men. As to who decides when the fate of a man is

Dracula s Role Of Women During The Victorian Era
Have you ever wondered why women are the way they are today? Well, Dracula takes a very good
look at how women were once treated and hints at what they will evolve into. Dracula takes place
during the Victorian Era where women were considered less than men. Dracula was written back in
1897 and contains Religious references that aid the main characters to subdue the cruel vampire
known as Dracula. During the Victorian Era women were stay at home wives and their only job was to
have children and to tidy up the house. They were devoted to their husband and everything they did
was to benefit their husband. Women were viewed as fragile creatures that should not be involved in
anything dangerous. However, some of these women, such as the three vampire sisters, are very
dangerous, capable of killing children so that they may live longer, which contradicts the thought that
women are fragile and need protecting. In Bram Stoker s Dracula the role of Victorian women in
England have continuously evolved into what women are today. Van Helsing s biggest compliment for

The Epidemic Of Ebola Virus Ebola
The virus Ebola, or formally known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is something most, if not all,
Americans have heard of in these past few months since it has taken American media by storm. Ebola
is a severe, often fatal illness, with an astonishingly high case fatality rate. It is considered one of the
world s most virulent diseases and is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and
tissues of infected animals or people ( Ebola Virus Disease ). This, however, is not the only aspect of
Ebola that should be considered. Even though it is often difficult to accept that humanity has an innate
stereotypical attitude and a dormant racism that surfaces in times of distress (like the Ebola outbreak),
it is crucial to recognize that the virus Ebola has not only the power to evoke physiological harm, but
also political and social harm. It is slowly worsening an already fragile Western society, weakened
from previous years of blatant racism and constant fear. Therefore, the naive American public should
care to examine the virus Ebola from a sociological viewpoint, in addition to a medical one. Western
culture has peculiar views on global disease in the twenty first century, especially since geographical
location largely contributes to a global public health inequality. Consequently, the American media s
portrayal of people of color, specifically Thomas Duncan and President Barack Obama, contributes to
and sheds light on the healthcare disparity in the United States.

Essay On Replacing Saturated Carbohydrates
While there are some proven benefits of replacing saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat, there are also
proven negatives of replacing saturated fat with carbohydrates. As described previously, in The
Women s Health Initiative study, replacing saturated fat intake with carbohydrates can lead to a high
glycemic load from refined carbohydrates. Epidemiologic data gathered in the Nurses Health Study
indicates that a high dietary glycemic load intake from refined carbohydrates increases the risk of
CVD, independent of known risk factors. [38] This cohort study included a large sample size (75,521)
of women ages 38 63. The participants were followed for 10 years starting in 1984 and they had no

CVD risk and incidence, yet there are many factors that will affect the health outcomes. Individual

them to decrease risk factors. Identifying and measuring specific risk of the individual fatty acid can

Briefing Arlington County s Stormwater Management Staff on the Four Mile Run Watershed Model
Oct 26, 2017

In Attendance: Sayedul Choudhury, Riyam Alobaidi, Elizabeth Thurber and Guosheng Qui
Sayedul provided an update on the Four Mile Run SWMM5 Model. A model summary and a map of
model components (see attached) were handed out.
The Four Mile Run SWMM5 Model results were found to match observed flows at the Shirlington
gage, especially for large storms (5,000 cfs or larger). However, for the tributaries, small streams and
upper Four Mile Run segments, the model performance cannot be validated until local wet weather
flow data are collected.
Sayedul requested Arlington County to

Sayedul will collect a copy of the data from Riyam.
CH2M added storages to a number of subwatersheds in the tributary models to account for water that
cannot enter the pipes, especially if the pipes are too small to carry the peak watershed runoff. Streams
Tech will evaluate the need for such storages in other subwatersheds to ensure that no water is lost
from the system.
Arlington County and Streams Tech personnel will walk along the key or questionable areas of the
stormwater network to identify potential problems and verify the connectivity and representation of
network (nodes, links, storages and subwatersheds) in the model.
Arlington County will provide data for an initial update of the model and then provide data annually to
update the model.
Streams Tech will coordinate NVRC to set up meeting to provide a project update to the Technical
Advisory Committee (TAC).
Arlington County wants to use the model results for various projects and programs including the MS4
Program.

  • 2. Smart Fat Research Paper Fat is often labeled as the reason for obesity however it seems like there is sufficient proof that fat in itself does not cause weight gain. In 1977, the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs recommended a dietary guideline that limited fat intake to no more than 30% per day. According to statistics, the instances of obesity started to increase around the same time fat was villanized and low fat products became more popular. Furthermore, similar studies claim that the war on fat led people to substitute butter and lard with processed low fat food which are high in artificial flavoring and sugar. More and more health enthusiasts are learning that not all fat is bad for the body. In fact, recently Dr. Jonny Bowden and Dr. Steven Masley, a nutrition experts, published their book entitled Smart Fat, which details the benefits of consuming the right kind of fat to losing weight. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explained that Masley have seen firsthand what fat deprivation does to the body and according to him, it is not good. He further explains that their Smart Fat diet plan has one basic principle five portions of smart fat, five portions of clean proteins and 10 servings of fiber. He claims that most of the pitfalls of people who embrark on a high fat, low carb diet is not including enough fiber in their meal plan. According to the doctor, fiber helps in the weight loss process and it prevents diabetes and heart disease. The doctor was quick to explain that more than diet there are many more factors that affect weight loss. However he seemed more than certain that his fat laden diet is key to losing weight in the healthiest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. T.S. Eliot s View of the Human Condition in The Hollow Men... T. S. Eliot was a man who strongly believed that poetry should represent life. He knew that life was complex, so that is why his poetry was difficult to understand not only for students writing research papers, but also for critics. He was the backbone of modernist poetry, who wrote mostly about darkness, despair, and depression in life. He tried and succeeded to capture the torment of the world during World War 1 and World War II (Shmoop T.S. Eliot ). Eliot s view of the human condition is evident in The Hollow Men through the issues of fear, despair, and depression. The poem starts out with a couplet. The first line talks about a man who is dead. In the second line it talks about giving a penny to an old guy. Why does Eliot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gives several examples of meaningless things such as wind in dry grass, and rats feet over broken glass in a cellar. Why does the story sound so quiet? The story is quiet because Eliot wants to get the point across that the Hollow Men truly are not significant in any way. Even when they talk amongst themselves, they amount to nothing (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis ). The narrator goes on to say that people who die see the Hollow Men before they pass onto death s other kingdom. What do the dead people pass over? The dead people pass over the river Styx, which in greek mythology is the pathway you must cross in order to go to Heaven or Hell (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis ). He makes a point to say that the Hollow Men are not lost as violent souls. Why do the Hollow Men stay around the area where people cross from life to the afterlife? The Hollow Men do not cross the river to enter Heaven or Hell because they did not admit their mistakes in order to be sent to Hell, and they are blind, so they cannot know where the river is and how to cross it (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis ). The narrator does not want to make eye contact with something in a dream. What does the narrator not want to make eye contact with? The Hollow Men do not want to make eye contact with the people that are in heaven because they do not want the people to know anything about them (Shmoop The Hollow Men Analysis ). • 4. The American Red Cross Disaster Services Team Introduction Throughout the semester, I have been able to volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Services Team. This has been one of the most beneficial volunteer opportunities that I have ever accomplished. As an American Red Cross of Georgia Major Gift Officer, this volunteer experience allowed me to gain knowledge in a department that serves as the backbone of the American Red Cross. As a nonprofit fundraiser, it is difficult to truly see the mission that your team raises money for every single day. Fundraisers at the American Red Cross are trained as sales people, and before this volunteer experience I had never even been on a Red Cross disaster response call. Throughout the duration of the semester, I was able to gain true insight into the core of the organization and mission. This opportunity allowed me to not only enhance my career at the American Red Cross, but gave me a 360 degree view of the entire organization and the fundamentals of the Red Cross mission. Red Cross Mission and History The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need primarily during times of disaster. The American Red Cross mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors (American Red Cross). The organization focuses on five key service areas: 1. People affected by disasters in America 2. Support for members of the military and their families 3. Blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To deal with all of them with competency the mediation practice is divided into different fields of activity and outlining them is crucial. Most mediation providers are practicing the main fields of mediation such as Civil and Commercial Mediation, covering the full range of civil and commercial disputes, Divorce and Other Family Mediation, where usually are discussed breakdowns of spouses, Workplace and Employment Dispute Resolution, which deals with all kinds of workplace disputes, such as discrimination, sexual harassment and unfair dismissal, and others fields. In the first years of this century the use of ADR, and more specific mediation, is gaining an extreme popularity. Many cases changed the thinking about ADR and contributed to mediation s growth. In April 1999 in England were introduced the Civil Procedure Rules that empowers the judges to embolden mediation and other forms of ADR, where it is appropriate. Main example is the case of Halsey v Milton Keynes NHS Trust, which puts the emphasis on the encouragement of the use of ADR, and the existence of sanctions if one of the parties unreasonably refuses mediation. In April 2006 an important change is made in CPR that requires that the parties should consider whether some form of alternative dispute resolution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Contributions Of William Golding William Golding was a famous British author, poet, and playwright. Golding contributed to British Literature by writing several works for which he was acknowledged. His most famous work is a novel called Lord of the Flies which was published in 1954. Lord of the Flies is still being read today around the world. In addition, two movie versions based on the novel were released. The first version was released in the United States in 1963 and the second version was released in 1990. The Lord of the Flies remains a relevant piece of literature today as it shows what happens in nature when there is no central governing body. His pessimism about the nature of humanity was obviously reflected in his writing. William Golding s childhood, school life, and war experience heavily influenced his work as a playwright, poet, and an author of Lord of the Flies. On September 19, 1911 William Golding was born at his maternal grandmother s house in Newquay, Cornwall (England). This was approximately six years after his older brother Joseph was born. Golding also had an adopted sister named Eileen. She was his blood cousin and was adopted in the 1930s. His parents were Alec and Mildred A. Golding (neé Curnoe). The whole family lived in Marlborough, Wiltshire. Alec was a master of science at Marlborough Grammar School. There s plenty of overlap, of course, and these are incredibly broad distinctions that don t take a lot of other genres into consideration. But it s probably fair to say that these were the most defining moments in music for each generation. This was taken from an article called The Sound of a Generation. • 11. The Sea s Ability Of An Intertidal Rock Platform Introduction The sea s ability to produce an intertidal rock platform was first commented on as early as 1846 by Ramsey, and then decisively classified into four themes by Trenhaile (1980), which is still relevant to scientist studying the formations today. The four themes are: 1) the role of marine and subaerial processes in platform development; 2) morphology of shore platforms; 3) modelling platform development; and 4) measuring rates of erosion (Stevenson 1, 2000). Research has commonly assumed that the origins of the shore platform are wave cut, however in recent years there has been research into a wider range of platforms and process leading to more theories. Defining and Distinguishing between Shore Platforms In order attempt to distinguish between different types of shore platforms, the most basic form of description is those, which slope seaward, and then those with a distinctive seaward edge characterised by a cliff (Stephenson et al., 2013). Sunamura has helped characterize those cliffs with the use of calling the slope edge a Type A Platform and a Cliff edge and a Type B Platform, this is represented in Figure 1. Fig. 1. A visual representations of shore platform categories as described by Sunamura (1992) in Kennedy (2015). I hope to grow up and become a parent myself and one thing that I hope to teach my children one day is that they need to work their hardest until they succeed and that they need to learn from their failures. One quote that I really like is from Thomas Edison who said, I have not failed, I have just found 10,000 ways not to build a lightbulb. What I take from this quote is that life doesn t end after you fail, you need to take that failure and expound on it and learn from it. The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to prove that there is an intelligent being that exists; the being is distinct from the universe, explains the existence of the universe, and is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and omnibenevolent. The basic notion of cosmological arguments is that the world and everything in it is dependent on something other than itself for its existence. It explains that everything has a cause, that there must have been a first cause, and that this first cause was itself uncaused. Many philosophers have explored the cosmological argument, including Aquinas, in much depth, through his Five Ways in the Summa Theologica. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frederick Copleston was a priest, and historian of philosophy who supported Aquinas rejection of infinite regress. Copleston reformulated the argument by concentrating on contingency, which he discussed in depth during a radio debate with Bertrand Russell in 1947. Copleston, like Aquinas, argued that there are things in the universe which are contingent, for example, us we would not have existed if our parents had not met. All things in the world are similar to this, nothing in the world is self explanatory, and everything depends on something else for its existence. Therefore, we are forced to search for an external explanation. The explanation must lead us to a cause which is self explanatory, i.e. one which contains within itself, the reason for its own existence a necessary being. The conclusion must be God. Copleston argues that if we don t accept the existence of an unmoved mover , like Aquinas suggested, there is no explanation for the universe at all. Copleston believes the universe is gratuitous without a first cause, because without an explanation, nothing has meaning Everything is gratuitous. The move has enabled it to serve clients with ERP and HR transformation needs. To boost capacity, the company and its UK affiliate teamed up in 2011 to buy outsourcing advisory firm EquaTerra, adding another revenue stream. One common theme portrayed by the symbols in the story is the families impending death. Some examples regarding their impending death are the Misfits car, the forest, the sky, the grandmothers hat, and prayer. The use of symbolism throughout the story allows for readers to get a feel for what may occur. As evidenced in this short story, O Connor uses several circumstances and objects that hint at what was going to happen next. In A Good Man is Hard to Find symbolism is prominent in describing the outcome of the family s trip. One symbol that immediately strikes as dark and deadly is the Misfits car. O Connor describes the car, It was a big black battered hearselike automobile. (O Connor 476). This hearselike appearance symbolizes the family s imminent death because the car literally holds dead people, this is a hidden signal that death has arrived. Since a hearse carries the message of death, the car could also represent the gruesome past that the three men are dragging along. Another example of symbolism in the story is the dark forest. Alike, the forest also represents the impending death of the family. The author writes ...the line of the woods gaped like a dark open mouth. (O Connor 477). In Zuboff s, In the Age of the Smart Machine the reader develops a sense of how automation of jobs can have a negative effect on the employees if implementation of new technology is not done properly. Both the automation of the mill and the automation of the global bank had some similarities. Both organizations went from a more oral and action on type of task to more of a data centered task. We can see this clearly form Zuboff s examples. At the pulp mill, workers were used to making rounds and checking the pulp consistency, which at that point the workers would make a decision if they need to open or close a valve. This hands on task transitioned into a more data reading and monitoring task, which was something that the workers were not specifically trained for. Instead, mill workers had to be able to read the indicators and know the consistency of the pulp. Like the pulp mill, the global bank ran into a similar problem. At the global bank, workers communicated with one another and passed around documents for verification. For example, a clerk would hand a document to a loan approver with the necessary information and the loan approver would check the documents and make a decision if the loan should be approved or not. Once the decision is made, the loan approver would hand the document back to the clerk. In other words, employees used each other to transfer documents through communication and the physical action. The Working Principle Of Eddy Current Brake Mechanism ABSTRACT This paper presentation explores the working principle of eddy current brake mechanism, which can be Analyzed by Maxwell 3D Transient solver. An eddy current brake, like a conventional friction brake, is Responsible for slowing an object, such as a train or a roller coaster etc. Unlike the friction brakes, which apply pressure on two separate objects, eddy current brakes slow an object by creating eddy currents through electromagnetic induction which create resistance, and in turn either heat or electricity. In this paper, linear Halfback magnetized mover is applied to eddy current braking system for high speed. For such a breaker, we give analytical formulas considering end effects for its magnetic field, eddy current distribution, forces according to the secondary relative permeability, and conductivity. The results given here are purely analytic applicable. I. INTRODUCTION Magnetic brakes Magnetic brakes are a relatively new technology that is beginning to gain popularity due to their high degree of safety. Rather than slowing a train via friction (such as fin or skid brakes), which can often be affected by various elements such as rain, magnetic brakes rely completely on certain magnetic properties and resistance. In fact, magnetic brakes never come in contact with the train. Magnetic brakes are made up of one or two rows of neodymium magnets. Pooper (1963) rejected the complete dependence on believes and personal opinion as proposed by Kuhn (as cited in Schick, 2000). In fact, he believed in standardizing the scientific method to approach any conflict by challenging scientists to falsify their theories all the time. Here, Popper had stronger strategy that test theories constantly to achieve higher level of evidence. Moore (2010) stated that the statement of a meaningful theory for Popper was the ability to identify what would falsify it when was tested against the facts of experience. This approach seems to be more practical by its uniform and cohesive structure to develop scientific theories. Thus, defending Pooper s position in this paper was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different forces that JNJ needs to be aware of. They need to be able to take full advantage of the opportunities and prepare for the threats to maximize competitive advantage knowing the different trends. Potential development of substitute products Competitive Analysis Porter s Five Force Model Rivalry among competing firms Bargaining power of suppliers Bargaining power of consumers Potential entry of new competitors Potential development of substitute products The existence of products outside of the realm of the common product boundaries increases the propensity of customers to switch to alternatives. Since pharmaceutical and medical devices are necessary for the maintenance of good health, a significant decrease in use is not likely. The largest threat of substitutes comes from generic pharmaceuticals. Once a drug loses patent protection, associated revenue usually rapidly falls. One way to mitigate the effect of generic drugs would be to develop more compounds with lower sales, perhaps by targeting more precise conditions. A similar threat of substitutes is ... In the article Your Money of Your Line, Raymond attacked Vanderbilt for stealing a substantial monthly payment from the Pacific Mail Steamship Company which was in exchange for Vanderbilt s preceding antagonism on the sea lanes to California. The present study was established to show revealed the presence of neurochemical and histopathological changes in the cerebellum of rat model of Parkinson s disease induced by the intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This may change the strategy of the disease treatment that depends mainly on the restoration of dopamine levels in the basal ganglia. The present findings showed the development of hyperexcitability in the cerebellum of rat model of PD induced by intrastriatal injection of rotenone. This was indicated from the significant increase in the excitatory amino acid neurotransmitters; glutamate and aspartate and the significant decrease in the inhibitory amino acids; GABA, glycine and taurine. These neurotransmitters are involved in many functions such as motor behavior, cognition, and emotion (Ottersen and Storm Mathisen, 1986, Schmidt et al., 1992)1,2. The balance between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission is important for brain to sustain proper neuronal function (Mel et al., 2004)[1]. Perturbation in glutamatergic and GABAergic neurotransmission is associated with several neurological and psychiatric disorders (Sanacora et al., 2004) (3) [glutamate gaba balance 1]. Functional neuroimaging study using PET or blood oxygen level dependent functional MRI frequently demonstrated increased activation in the cerebellum in patients with PD during performance of various upper limb movements (Rascol et al., 1997; Catalan et al., 1999; Wu and Hallett, 2005; Yu et ... • 33. Teen Suicide And Suicide Recent studies have shown a rise in both teen suicides and self harm among adolescent girls. Suicide among adolescent girls may occur as a result of mental disorders, drug misuse, cultural, family and social situations, genetics, and most of all, cyberbullying (Ehmke). Based on a 2015 study, about 20% of adolescent girls in the U.S. consider suicide and between 5% and 8% of them attempt suicide each year (Ehmke). In 2014 alone, 150 girls out of 10 million, between the ages of ten and fourteen, committed suicide due to cyberbullying among other related factors (Graham). Medical experts warn that excessive social media and smartphone use may lead to cyberbullying. Most victims of cyberbullying often experience a great deal of stress and anxiety leading to suicidal ideation (Ehmke). An analysis by Jean Twenge, in The Atlantic, confirms that cyberbullying is more strongly related to suicidal thoughts in adolescents than traditional bullying (Twenge). Some estimates suggest that depending on the country of origin between 5% and 20% of adolescent girls are victims of physical, verbal or exclusion based bullying, while 15% to 30% of them are victims of cyberbullying (Twenge). The relationship between cyberbullying and suicide has only been explored in a few studies, but Jean Twenge s analysis strongly suggests that cyberbullying is a major risk factor for suicide ideation in adolescent girls (Twenge). Unlike the omnipresent god of the Christian who is above man in wisdom, power and character, these gods are portrayed as a family. My thesis thus is that gods are not impotent but are in a lot aggrandized versions of man who control the fate of man. Gods as stated earlier are very much like man. One way to see this analogy is to compare gods to the flaws of man. • 42. The Epidemic Of Ebola Virus Ebola The virus Ebola, or formally known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is something most, if not all, Americans have heard of in these past few months since it has taken American media by storm. Ebola is a severe, often fatal illness, with an astonishingly high case fatality rate. It is considered one of the world s most virulent diseases and is transmitted by direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected animals or people ( Ebola Virus Disease ). This, however, is not the only aspect of Ebola that should be considered. Even though it is often difficult to accept that humanity has an innate stereotypical attitude and a dormant racism that surfaces in times of distress (like the Ebola outbreak), it is crucial to recognize that the virus Ebola has not only the power to evoke physiological harm, but also political and social harm. It is slowly worsening an already fragile Western society, weakened from previous years of blatant racism and constant fear. Therefore, the naive American public should care to examine the virus Ebola from a sociological viewpoint, in addition to a medical one. Western culture has peculiar views on global disease in the twenty first century, especially since geographical location largely contributes to a global public health inequality. Consequently, the American media s portrayal of people of color, specifically Thomas Duncan and President Barack Obama, contributes to and sheds light on the healthcare disparity in the United States. ... Essay On Replacing Saturated Carbohydrates While there are some proven benefits of replacing saturated fat with polyunsaturated fat, there are also proven negatives of replacing saturated fat with carbohydrates. As described previously, in The Women s Health Initiative study, replacing saturated fat intake with carbohydrates can lead to a high glycemic load from refined carbohydrates. Epidemiologic data gathered in the Nurses Health Study indicates that a high dietary glycemic load intake from refined carbohydrates increases the risk of CVD, independent of known risk factors. [38] This cohort study included a large sample size (75,521) of women ages 38 63. The participants were followed for 10 years starting in 1984 and they had no previous diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, MI, angina, stroke, or other CVD.
