Cleveland Indians Argumentative Essay
The Cleveland Indians are a baseball team founded in 1894 (cleveland.indians.mlb.com). Although the
name is obviously racist, in 1894 there unfortunately was not as large of public concern regarding the
treatment of Native Americans. Now, the name is deemed to be offensive, as it should be. The logo
depicts a Native American referred to as Chief Wahoo, an aspect of the team that also creates public
scrutiny. For these reasons, the Cleveland Indians are changing their logo. However, the
implementation of the decision will be put off a year and the team will continue using the name.
Moreover, the logo will still be available on merchandize, enabling the team to profit off of racist
insignia. In 2014, president and CEO of the Cleveland Indians, Mark Shapiro, had already limited the
use of the logo. Thus, evidently, the Cleveland Indians are not doing enough to combat the prejudice
and insensitivity they exhibit through their team name, mascot and logo. The team also is clearly only
publicizing their supposedly monumental, yet actually minute, decision in order to boost public
perception of the organization. This is not a decision done in order to do the right thing; it is a

Redskin is a racial slur and the use of the word is one of the worst examples of a sport team having a

be racially insensitive reveals a larger epidemic. The name of these sports teams become so beloved to
some people that they will not be able to change unless the fans realize that the names, logos and
racism present in the teams impotence to modify these aspects are wrong. Fans need to learn to

Censorship Is An Issue That Affects Us On A Global Scale
The loudest silence is that of censorship. An individual may feel very strongly about a subject, and
have their voice silenced by those older, or who disagree with them. Censorship is an issue that affects
us on a global scale. It ranges from issues of women s rights, to whether or not it is alright to wear
certain words or logos to school. It is something that has affected educational opportunities all over
the world, and censorship goes too far when it affects children s learning capabilities. All students,
from all races, religions, or genders, should be allowed to research what they want, when they want,
so long as they do not harm someone else.
Censorship in the past has been an issue, whether it be the post civil war segregation, or ... Show more

They are censored because they bring up tough questions and school administrators feel the best
answer is to not answer them.
This is an issue as it places the government as well as the school authorities in tough positions. They
may make a decision that is not in favor of a certain group of people, and they may have to meet the
backlash that comes from their actions. Parents may respond to certain issues when they differ from
home values, or may support issues when they agree with home values. Students may stand up for
their own freedoms and values, whether that is support or revulsion on a certain issue.
Censorship can come in many shapes and forms; some may appear good on the surface, but what
underlying notions come with them? If a school chooses to ban the book Huckleberry Finn for its
usage of the N word, they may see that as a good usage of censorship. For example, a class of students
said the book Huckleberry Finn [made] them uncomfortable (McDaniel). However, the problem arises
when there comes a piece of literature that has the N word, or any other type of hurtful language,
inside of it and does not get removed from the shelves.
Cases may also come in the forms of an individual losing their job for speaking out against an issue. A
teacher was fired from his job at San Gabriel High School, when students found out about this
incident they inquired about the reason for his termination. The administration did not reply
(Tompkins). This is an issue

The Story Of Genji
Genji lit the candles as he set them up around the room. He discovered earlier that the power to the
building shut off once the tours were finished. He walked out onto the balcony as the moon hung high
up in the sky. The faint honking and shouting of the city filled the air as the wind whirled into his
bedroom. Slowly, he sat down on the ground as he crossed his legs. His left hand remained expended
as his right closed into his palm. His eyes fell closed as he took a deep breath, the whirl of his vents
filled his ears. He was used to it by now, it was his rhythm it allowed him to relax. Genji called out to
his dragon hoping to receive an answer this time. When he tried earlier he was answered with
complete silence. Relax, Genji. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

omnic on the screen. Hey, master. You alright, Genji? Genji fell silent as he glanced around the room.
No, I m not. I believe this was a mistake master. Genji stated as he rubbed his hands together. The
small sparks rushing through his arms and he reached up unclipping the face plate. Setting it beside
his leg, he leaned more into the headboard. Explain it to me. Zenyatta stated. Genji couldn t think of

allowing the monk to see it. That is the blade my brother used. Genji whispered. You told me that he
probably regretted the action, but that says otherwise doesn t it. There was silence from the monk. You
told me that Hanzo never had a choice once he became the head of the clan. He didn t. You believe it
was him who put it up? Zenyatta questioned. Genji fell quiet as he moved back into the bedroom. I

Describe Me Research Paper
There are probably many ways to describe me. But, to keep this in simple terms I am Diana, a 19 year
old Latina college student who considers herself as loyal, respectful, friendly, quiet person who loves
and cares for her family and friends more than she cares for herself. Others might have a different
opinion about me, however, this is how I view myself, this is who I am. Considering that I was more
straightforward in the description of how I view myself, I want to include that there are some many
other components that makes who I am and how I view myself. Among the many aspects, I am the
only child who was raised in Chicago, Illinois in a middle class speaking Spanish family. I am not
very religious women; however, I would consider myself a catholic. Now, getting to the physical self I
consider myself as short and fat. I am probably 5 3 or 5 4 that is out of shape, so, my physical
condition is not the best. Since I am a Mexican American my skin is darker than the rest of my
comrades. I have the average brown/black eyes, as well as dark brown hair color. However, the bottom
of my hair is dyed to a light green blue shade. In addition to that I have two facial piercings: a nose

Thomas Edison And The Invention Of Thomas Edison
This is Thomas Edison. Thomas Edison is a famous inventor who invented lots of things that we use
today. He was born a very long time ago in the United States of America.
Thomas was a very naughty child. He used to always get into trouble for misbehaving such as the time
when he set his father s barn on fire. He was only six years old when this incident took place.
Thomas only started school at the age of seven. He was unable to go to school at an early age because
he was quite sick and his mom had to take care of him at home.
At school Thomas could not concentrate and used to constantly disturb the children and the teacher.
He became quite disruptive in class and did not learn anything. His teacher then nicknamed him
Addled . Addled means someone who is unable to think clearly.
Thomas did not have a very good teacher at school. His teacher was not willing to answer his

bulb. The new light bulb that Thomas invented lasted for longer periods of time .Thomas thereafter
went on to invent an electrical power system, so that people would have electricity and could use the

It was Thomas Edison who was also responsible for the invention of Motion pictures . Thomas created
equipment that would record and playback images so that they could be watched later on.
It is because of Thomas Edison that we are now able to watch movies.
Before Thomas Edison died he said The trouble with other inventors is that they try a few things then
they quit. I never quit until I get what I want
We should learn from this quote that no matter how hard things may seem, we must not give up, we
must try and keep trying until we succeed. Thomas Edison never gave up and because of that he

Jean Valjean Throughou Quotes
Despite knowing what his fate might look like, Jean Valjean announces himself as an escaped
prisoner. This occurs when another man, Champmathieu, who is believed to be Jean Valjean, is about
to be sentenced to life imprisonment. Valjean, instead of choosing a life of comfort and luxury, decides
to rescue an innocent man and suffer in his stead.
Valjean suffers and chooses the path of virtue because it is imbibed in his principles and reflects the
beliefs he lives by. Valjean also upholds his pledge to fetch Cosette which was given to Fantine on her
deathbed. Valjean is seen venerating motherhood when he hands Cosette her mother s necklace. It is
one of the most heartrending of literary deathbeds when Valjean offers his summation on the
misfortunes of a single mother: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He makes right decisions disregarding the troubles he invites upon himself. He is truly a romantic hero
in Hugo s novel for the same reason. Trapped in the shackles of time and circumstances, Valjean
struggles to find a way to balance virtue without harming his loved ones. Valjean s isolation and then
radical uprising is not just admirable but also inspiring. Valjean incorporates the bishop Monseigneur
Myriel as the voice of conscience, then follows Fantine s maternal example by adopting and raising
Cosette.13 Marius learns to love the father he never knew and, through him, revolutionary France.14

various views of uncertainty, fate, and cause and effect. Among many new principles, one concept that
arose was the idea that some cultures are more accepting of uncertainty than others. However, all
people search for any rationale to explain an event, even if the reasoning does not make logical sense.
These conceptions are exemplified in Chronicle of a Death Foretold, when the narrator s investigative

Abyssal Fish Essay
Abyssal fish
Abyssal fish are those fish that live below the photic zone of the ocean, below 2000 m. These fishes
must survive in extremely harsh conditions, such as hundreds of bars of pressure, small amounts of
oxygen, very little food (no photosynthesis), total darkness, and extreme cold. Examples of Species:
Lanternfish, flashlight fish, anglerfish, tripod fish, giant squid, and others.
In order to survive and reproduce, the abyssal animals developed necessary adaptation (anatomical

Coping with total darkness: Many species are blind and rely on other senses to replace peripheral

Personal Strengths In Leadership
I am a hands on team leader. I like to get everyone involved and utilize the assets each one has. The
more involved people are in the process, the more committed they will be to the cause. There are
many benefits for the community and ministry to use a team leadership style.
Looking at my past leadership roles, I have always been a hands on coach. The style I use is not to tell
them how to do it, rather I would participate alongside them working just as they were. My philosophy
has always been not to ask someone to do something I wouldn t or can t. I do not like to tell, I d rather
demonstrate by doing what is required of the others. I believe I foster goodwill by being one of many
rather than being one leading many.
4) What are your personal strengths in leadership? (2 points)
I have management experience, I coach youth basketball and football, and raise two children. These
facets require a team effort. I try hard to listen, praise, ask for input, and remain humble. I like
delegating, giving others space and freedom to accomplish their task. I m a gifted problem solver and I
like to handle conflicts. I make these talents available to all I work with. I like to give recognition,
even consider myself to be a cheerleader.

Joseph Campbell Beliefs
Dance is an expression of life is the outlook I received from Joseph Campbell. Campbell was about
living your best life and fulfilling your goals with hard work. He influenced many with his books and
attitude on life. He was influenced as a kid and became an influencer as an adult Campbell expressed
that we, as humans are the meaning of life, each of us has a meaning.
Campbell s philosophy and mythology spoke to people in a positive way and enlightened people.
Joseph John Campbell was born on March 26th 1904, he lived a great life with many

and take steps to finish your goals or to start your goals, it is supposed to motivate the dancer. When
someone is feeling down and feels like they cannot succeed they can do this dance and it will give
them a boost of confidence to make it happen. The rhythm of music would be upbeat to get the people
pumped in accomplishing their goals. The music would get people up and start dancing. Maybe a little
drum roll at the beginning and then some peaceful melodies with a little bit of energy. There would be
two dancers, one is very upbeat, happy and rejoicing while dancing, the other would be sad and
mopping around. The happy dancer is trying to motivate the other to start dancing and be happy with
him. The happy dancer shows the sad one how he accomplishes his goals and how good he feels when
done. At the end both dancers are happy and enjoying life, even the little things in it. The movements
of the happy dancer are joyous and tells a story of how he accomplishes his dream. The sad dancer is

Jem Bravery In Lord Of The Flies
Throughout the novel, Jem s definition of courage shifts over time, indicative of his maturing
personality. As the story begins, Jem s superficial idea of courage reveals his immature nature, as his
ignorance defines his judgement. At the start of the novel, Jem s idea of bravery is simply touching the

instance Jem has an urge to boast about his masculinity, in the form of a perceived bravery. However,

as the bravest person [Atticus] ever knew. Through her tremendous courage, Ms Dubose defies her

Lee introduces her society to a women who defies her preconceived image through a tremendous

Essay on Gene Therapy is Revolutionizing Medicine
Gene Therapy is Revolutionizing Medicine
We used to think that our fate was in our stars, but now we know that, in large measure, our fate is in
our genes, quotes James Watson. This fate that Watson is talking about is contained in our genes, and
deals with a new technique, gene therapy. Gene therapy is revolutionizing the world of medicine.
Many physicians are predicting that in twenty years gene therapy may change the practice of medicine
from a treatment based to a prevention based practice. Our future is l ocked away inside of our genes.
Gene therapy is unlocking these doors. Researchers are starting to move away from developing new

with the mouse cells that are producing the herpes enzyme. The other target of some of the various
retroviruses used include: bone marrow, skin, and liver cells. Genetic alteration of bone marrow cells
aims to correct the mutated part of the cell or its progeny. Skin cells work in a different manner.
Geneticists found that these cells synthesize and secrete proteins, but these are then transported
through the blood to be utilized by other cells. Researchers are trying to use skin cells to synthesize an
enzyme that it does not normally make. They then hope that it will take that enzyme to some other
cell. That cell may not be able to make that enzyme, but the skin cell transports an ess ential enzyme
that will help that new cell function properly. Research with liver cells is still in the beginning stages.

Ideal Of The American Ideal
The American Ideal
If approval replaced dedication as creativity s fuel, this world
Would be barren, empty, decidedly less lovely. Jen Hatmaker In his will, newspaper publisher Joseph
Pulitzer specified that a $1,000 prize be awarded each year for the American novel; published during
the year which shall best present the whole atmosphere of American life, and the highest standards of
American manners and manhood (6). However, in 1917, the president of Columbia University and
Pulitzer advisory board leader Nichols Murray Butler changed the wording of the criteria to read the
wholesome atmosphere of American life (7); and by so doing, limited the scope of what literature was
deemed acceptable for consideration of the honor. Subsequently, in 1921, the Pulitzer Prize for fiction
was awarded to a novel about New York high society during the 1870s and controversy soon followed.
In a June 22, 1921 article in The New Republic, one of the judges that year, literary scholar Robert
Morse Lovett, wrote that the winner, Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton, had not been the jury s

had instead selected Sinclair Lewis s Main Street, a novel Lovett described using the words of his
fellow juror Stuart Pratt Sherman, as having communicated more life to the reading public than any

and beyond, that lead him down a journey to seek fairness for all, including slaves and the rights of
women (Van Camp, 2014). Although the Civil War had ended and slavery was supposed to be

Explanatory Research Design
Through the understanding of the elements involved in a research paper, a person can obtain the
ability to complete good research. In research there are two questions asked; what is going on for
descriptive research and why is it going on for explanatory research. The research design is simply the
theory building approach to research. Although research design is the hardest part of research it is vital
for research to be guided. Unit of Analysis
The unit of analysis is one of the most important ideas in a research design because it is the object that
is being analyzed in the research. The units of analysis consist of variation in what or who is studied
or of observations (ORI, n.d.). Often researchers make observations on certain characteristics of
offenders like on their age or gender, which are combined to provide a picture of a population that
comprises those individuals.
In criminal justice research, any variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Causation in Research
A cause is an explanation for events or attitude. The causation in research focuses on the causes for the
ways things is and why other things cause some things. An idiographic explanation for assessing was
written by Joseph Maxwell. Maxwell asked how credible and believable it is and whether alternative
explanations were considered and found wanting. Explanations must make sense and be the truth.
The causal effect, which is the nomothetic perspective, is when an independent variable leads to or
results in variation in the dependent variable (Bachman, 2006). An example of this causal effect is
when individuals are arrested for domestic assault tends to commit fewer later assaults than those who
are accused of domestic assault but not

Research Methodology Of The Research Approach
This chapter outlines an overview of the research approach adopted in the study as well as the research
methodology and the practical approach adopted to achieve the set objectives of the study. In addition,
it also highlights the data collection methods, ethical considerations, and data analysis. Case studies
will be used as a research strategy as they are distinguished by their ability to investigate a
phenomenon which, in this case, will be the upgrading heritage buildings through sustainable designs
and construction. The chapter also rationalizes the sampling approaches and the research methods
used for collecting the data in the case studies. To achieve the objectives, data for this study will be
collected using two qualitative research methods: document analysis and semi structured interviews
which were used to give a scholarly definition of the term sustainable adaptation to heritage sites and
buildings which is part of the objectives. The chapter also looks at the qualitative analysis techniques
which will be used to analyze the data.
3.2 Research approach
The difference between qualitative and quantitative research is basically a methodological issue and
the researcher s decision to choose a specific research approach should be based on its suitability to
answer the established research questions (Bryman, 1992). A qualitative approach according to
(Creswell, 2003) should be a logical subjective approach and should be able to describe experiences

On the My Personal Vision Self Assessment, I answered eight of the ten questions as mostly true,
which was above the cutoff score of more than seven mostly true answers that indicate that I am
currently in great shape when it comes to the development of my personal vision. As the textbook
mentions, coming up with an individual vision or mission is often a difficult challenge, although the
work that goes into the actual achievement of one s vision may be even harder. However, I m already

Airport Construction Has A Major Effect On The Community
Airport construction has a major effect on everyone involved and also the community around the
airport. When an airport begins to make plans for expansion or repairs a whole list of things are
researched and planned years in advance. The airport manager is responsible for overseeing the
project and confirming that everything goes as planned and everyone stays safe in the process. There
are multiple regulations to abide by not only from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but by
the city and the Occupational Safety and Health Association (0SHA). All of these regulations are
enforced to help mitigate the risk involved in airport construction. Airport construction is normally
short term but whiles it s being performed everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So with that being an issue the airport is faced with the decision of buying new land which usually
results in buying whole neighborhoods and businesses. By doing this the airport personnel has to
make it right for the people living in these neighborhoods and offer them good compensation to move
away from the airport. They also have to think about the businesses around there and how the
economy will be effected if those around forced to move. But if the economy will benefit from the
construction at the airport in the long run the homeowners and businesses will not have a choice to
stay, but once again they will be takin care of. Communities that use roads and highways by airports
can be burdened by airport construction because of the increased traffic from construction vehicles
hauling equipment and supplies to the airport. A lot of times construction companies have to travel
through neighborhoods and other main roads that causes huge headaches for the community.
Airport construction also poses a short term but substantial threat to the environment with all the
different jobs being done, there are a lot of different construction equipment such as cranes, dozers,
excavators, concrete equipment, etc. that can cause problems with the environment. The main
environmental issues affected by include air, water, and noise pollution. Air pollution has always been

Le but principal de ce procès serait de permettre au malade de pouvoir mettre fin à ses jours, au

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PDMS Based Microfluidic...
The earliest microfluidic devices were made mostly made from silicon since the technology for
patterning silicon wafers had already been developed by the electronics industry for its usage in
microelectronics and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS). Silicon however has the following
disadvantages: (1) It is not optically transparent in the wavelength range used for optical detection; (2)
Its conductive properties make it unsuitable for applications that involve electro kinetic flow to
transport fluids; (3) Proteins tend to bind to silicon non selectively which rules out its application in
immunoassays [Bange et al, 2005] There has recently been a lot of interest in PDMS based
microfluidic systems due the numerous advantages it offers compared to glass and silicon [Kong J et
al, 2009; Tanyu Wang et al, 2013 and Alphonsus et al, 2010]. PDMS is easy to fabricate, flexible,
optically transparent and can irreversibly bind to itself through the application of oxygen plasma.
Another major advantage is that PDMS based devices can be fabricated in normal laboratory
conditions as opposed to clean room conditions that are expensive to maintain and access. PDMS is
also hydrophobic that is desirable for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Globalization
Introduction
Globalisation is a new trend in the development of the world economy. This means the world
economy is being integrated, like the economic policies and systems in various countries are gradually
becoming the same. With the development of the globalisation that brings many changes in the world
economy, also changed our lifestyle. Meanwhile, the globalisation has also brought the weaknesses
and benefit according to the globalisation debate. Due to the wide range of issues covered by
globalization related issues, this article will discuss the shifts of the globalisation, weaknesses and

Essay On Irish Dancing On Gait And Flexibility
Research Proposal.
Title:
An examination into the effects that Irish dancing has on gait and ankle flexibility.
Introduction
The topic that will be discussed in this proposal is the effects of dancing on gait and ankle flexibility
in dancers. The population being researched is dancers and will make comparisons between dancers
and non dancers. The purpose of this research is for examining the effects dancing has on ankle
flexibility and gait patterns in dancers and determining whether or not there is a difference between
the gait patterns of dancers in comparison to non dancers. Dancing requires extreme ankle postures
and unique balance. Intensive and long term practice of extreme ankle postures can cause changes in
gait patterns in dancers during normal walking (Lung, Chern, Hsieh, Yang, 2008).
Literature Review:
The aim of the research carried out by Lung, Chern, Hsieh, and Yang (2008), was to investigate the
differences in gait patterns between dancers and non dancers. This study hypothesized that gait
patterns in dancers will be significantly different to non dancers. Thirty three subjects were recruited
for the purposes of the study. Thirteen of the subjects were dancers and twenty of the ... Show more

dancing. There appears to be a gap in research surrounding Irish dancing and its effects on normal gait
and ankle flexibility. The purpose of carrying out this research is to acknowledge this gap in previous

The Owner Of The Restaurant
Before leaving home for Rutgers, I was a fry cook at a burger restaurant. The usual pace was slightly
overwhelming and all my co workers had 2+ years of experience with the company. One night, about
two months after I started working there, it was so incredibly busy that the line of customers measured
out the door. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a box of jalapeño poppers and
dropped all of them on the floor. The cashiers, general manager and head cook all rolled their eyes at
me and shuffled past the mess. As I started to pick them up to throw them away, I noticed someone
else s hand helping. I looked up inquisitively and found Ralph Flannery s eyes, the owner of the
restaurant, who owned a handful of the same restaurant chain in several other locations. After we
cleaned up, he asked me to go to his office when things calmed down. I went to his office expecting to
turn in my name tag. Ralph looked calm and cheery, which put me at a wearisome ease. He started by
explaining how cheap and worthless a box of jalapeño poppers were to him. Then Ralph transitioned
to how expensive but valuable his employees were and finished by personalizing it with how
important I am to him and his company s success. I was left speechless because this was a new
experience to me. I sat there curious about what he had to say next. He said to me, Jacob, what if I
invest in you? Would you invest in me? How about I give you a fifty cent raise right now... I

Technology Opportunities in The Trucking Industry
This paper is written to inform you about three technology opportunities that will make a positive
impact on transportation. These opportunities will lead to more efficient transportation now and in the
future. The first technological opportunity discussed is Truck Design; the design of the truck can make
a difference in fuel cost. The second technological opportunity discussed is a Speed Governor System;
this is a device in trucks that restricts the speed it can travel. The final technological opportunity
discussed is the use of cloud computing; this is where information and software is shared on multiple
devices. By the end of this paper you will know what great things can come out of these three new
technologies and how they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new inventive designs of vehicles to make them more fuel efficient gives the industry a chance to
lower prices because of a lower profit margin and that gives them the opportunity to be more price
competitive. Providing better prices for services than other companies who do the same thing will
bring in a lot more business to the company. More business is an opportunity to expand operations and
invest in even more ways to save money and expand the company.
With the inclusion of speed governors on trucks, trucking will be more gas efficient and safer. Gas
efficiency will lead to great savings on fuel that will cut the cost of transportation. Speed governors
are devices that put a limit on how fast a vehicle can go. The reduction of speed has big effects on fuel
efficiency, It s a fact that slowing a truck down by 10 miles per hour reduces fuel consumed by 15
percent (Graham, 2011). Fuel efficiency is not the only thing that comes from the use of speed
governors; the trucks are safer, the equipment (such as tires and brakes) last longer, and the liability
cost is lower (Road Safe America, 2009). With the placement of Governors on trucking vehicles,
drivers will not be able to speed up past the pre set miles per hour by the trucking company.
The Governor leads to trucking companies to be able to lower

Observation Of A Piglet Experiment
On the 10th of September 2017, ten little piglets that had died at birth were brought and staged outside
of Heartland Career Center in Wabash, Indiana. Over the past three weeks we have observed and
studied the dead piglets lying in the grass, cement and suspended from a pole. Before we started the
experiment, we had to answer some questions on how which piglet will decompose faster during the
experiment. There was a lot discovered about the dead piglets and it was very interesting. Throughout
this project, we had to answer questions on what we think will happen to the piglets and make a
hypothesis on what will happen through the three weeks that we did it. Most of the questions that I
had were correct with my hypothesis. One of the questions that we had to answer was, does a piglet
suspended in the air decompose at a different rate than the one left on the ground or the cement? This
was a difficult question but not too hard because the piglets that were suspended took a long time to
decompose to just bones. Differed from the piglets in the air it took the piglets on the ground at least a
week to decompose because of the heat that we had over a weekend time period that had no
observations because we weren t at school. Over all, the piglets that were suspended in the air on a
pole and the piglets on the ground each piglet had a different reaction to everyday. Which decomposes
faster, a piglet that is in its natural state, one that is burnt, one that is buried? This was a

In fact there will never was, nor will there ever be, a time that would surpass the horror humanity
faced during the outbreak. We were put through a trial. Some passed and some failed. The worst traits
of humanity were exposed during the outbreak. But at the same time, the best traits shone so brightly
that the darkness of humanity dissipated. It was the survivors that fought to get our lives back who had
these traits. Many credit me with bringing together so many people, with different ideals, to fight back

Descriptive Essay On A Restaurant
Smell As I walked in the door, aromas flooded my nostrils; my day as a waitress had begun.
Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabbed my attention then resumed filling the kitchen and the
street air outside with a salted, hickory twist. Taking a deep breath and opening the door to the
waitress station revealed a pot of freshly brewed coffee, its creamy perfume tangled with the bacon
from the kitchen had encased the small town diner. My first customer was an older man. The stench of
his breath was appalling, consisting of only the toxic odor of alcohol which remained from a night of
heavy drinking. A quick ticket, a cup of plain coffee, and a couple sticks of fresh mint gum on the
house set him on a more vibrant route; this, of course, gave him a more tolerable fragrance for the day.
Glancing out the window, I noticed thick, black smoke billowing from the Whitewater Valley train: its
passengers exited, covering their ears to shield from the blare of the horn. As the door opened, the
dense, charcoal fog dragged in along with the new customers. Though, the kitchen buzzed with the
creation of orders before long. As my day ended, I walked out of the diner to my junky old car. The
interior reeked of fruity strawberry and black ice air fresheners, which unsuccessfully attempted to
mask the metallic stain of rust and old gasoline. The A/C was broken, but the crisp, fresh breeze
cooled me as the sun began to wave goodnight to the woodland surrounding the road.

because of the 31 pediatric deaths cases. In 1999, a deadly emerging paramyxovirus called Nipah
virus were isolated during a large outbreak of viral encephalitis resulted in 283 cases including 109
deaths. This was the first report of such infection in the world. This virus has many of the physical
attributes to serve as a potential for bioterrorism. The outbreak cause widespread fear and panic
because of its high mortality and the inability to control the spread of the disease. This deadly virus,
believed to be introduced into pig farms by fruit bats then spread easily among pigs and was
transmitted to humans who came to close contact with infected animals. The virus was also
transmitted to the other animals such as cats and

Causes Of Anti Vietnam War Dbq Essay
Many people felt that this was a war of money that the U.S. didn t need to interfere in and was being
fought by North and South Vietnam, therefore we had no business getting in the middle of it. The
United States should ve thought of themselves and done what was best for them as a country. When
Dwight D. Eisenhower left office, a new President came in with the name John F. Kennedy. JFK
warns the American public about Military Industrial Complex . This affected Americans because we
didn t want all of Vietnam to become communist. From the beginning, the United States was not
aware of what they were getting themselves into. Furthermore, they didn t understand the nature of the
war on who and why they were fighting.

Killing innocent people, getting control of the programs, and fighting on a pointless war would be
considering Americans as a conscientious object. There is no real reason to go and fight Vietnam.
According to Anti Vietnam War Movement Document, Martin Luther King, Jr. states, A few years
ago...it seemed as if there was a real promise of hope for the poor, both black and white, through the
poverty program. (Document A). This quote demonstrates how Martin made a serious urgent request
to the public reasons on why his nation was being treated unfair. He wanted the money to go to
poverty. He thinks we should get out of the war. Many Americans oppose the war because it was
guttered and broken. Additionally, it caused to loose many people in a tragic situation. At first every
Americans were happy with their Great Society programs but then Vietnam war took away all the
beneficial programs that helped them from recovery.

The Us Strategy For Winning The Global War On Terrorism
In light of this, it should be mentioned that the US strategy for winning the Global War on Terrorism is
predicated on creating an international environment inhospitable to terrorists and all those who
support them (Fogarty 2001). Meaning, that the fight against terrorism heavily relies on international
cooperation. In order to achieve such a feat, nevertheless, America must be amiable by fellow
governments and their citizens. Unfortunately, the reports and findings on GTMO makes it
increasingly difficult for the American administration to do so, for the inhumane treatment makes
citizens of other countries upset. Quoting General Colin Powell, people from other nation states are
beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism (Duberstein as cited in Washington
Monthly 2008). This proves to be an immense hindrance to the war, as America cannot hope to face
all of the world s terrorists alone. To put this in perspective, one can take a look at the situation with
Turkey and Russia. Earlier this year, a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey, having flown into the
latter s airspace without permission (BBC 2015). Granted, there lies in factors such as the decades
long animosity between the two countries. Albeit, who s to say that America s relations with countries
will never reach such lows? Rather, previous Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel says that one of the
greatest long term dangers America faces is that we are now mistrusted by many nations, even our

What Why Xxx Chose A Career As Culinary Arts Is His Passion
As working and studying at the same time, I surround by numerous amazing people from different
countries, cultures and backgrounds. However, they all achieve a certain kind of success in their own
fields. One of my coworkers at Stella s, XXX, a first cook and assistant inventory manager, is very
enthusiastic. Her unequaled palate of sight, taste, and touch has been displayed through her beautiful
style of cooking. The purpose of this interview is to further understand about how would life be if you
were a first cook as well as implementations of cooking concepts in real kitchen scenario.
Interviewing with XXX help me to learn more about the life of a cook and also applications of
business strategies into running a restaurant. XXX, graduated at RRC 4 years ago with an Honor, has
worked in the Hotel environment for few years then now is an assistant inventory manager in the
restaurant. One of the reasons why XXX chose a career in culinary arts is his passion. XXX believes
that to be successful in culinary arts fields, especially as a kitchen manager, passion is not enough, but
ability and talent. With his genuine devoutness and considerable experience, he has trained for many
new kitchen staffs in the last few years, and became the most favorite employee in the restaurant.
Staffing, staff training

a prompt, XXX said that cultural diversity in culinary arts field is a must

How To Write An Essay On The Chocolate War
Trinity is especially dangerous for Jerry when he just says No ... to selling chocolates for the school.
Seriously. His No! gets him in trouble with The Vigils, an underground student group that controls the
other kids at school with mafia style tactics. Jerry s stand against selling chocolate also gets him
trouble with Brother Leon, the Voldemort esque schoolmaster.
Before The Chocolate War, Cormier published a couple of adult novels, which didn t make much of a
splash. With this book, he really found his audience, and went on to publish over a dozen young adult
books. His dark portrayals of teen life get lots of love from critics, teachers, and teens alike.
Of course, not everybody is a fan. The Chocolate War is one of the most frequently ... Show more

Hey there. We were just listening to Pink Floyd s Another Brick in the Wall, Part II, album The Wall.
Too bad it didn t come out a few years earlier, like, say, 1974 when The Chocolate War was published.
We think Jerry (our hero) and the guys at Trinity high school might have liked it. The song totally
makes us think of the novel s villainous Brother Leon, who tortures kids with his sarcasm,
manipulation, and his teacher s pointer at every turn.
Which brings us to why you might care about The Chocolate War. Maybe you ve had some teachers
like the kind Pink Floyd sings about in this and other songs. The Chocolate War shows how hard this
is on students (as if you didn t already know), but also what this type of school situation teaches the
students experiencing it. According to this novel, it teaches things like how to use violence,
intimidation, and manipulation. It turns kids against each other and creates a really sick overall
environment.
But, you probably already knew that. The important thing about this novel is that somebody (our hero
Jerry) tries to change things by saying No, by refusing to go along and do what he s told. Not to give
anything away, but this doesn t work out all that well for him. The novel leaves it to us, the readers, to
decide whether taking a stand is worth

  • 2. Cleveland Indians Argumentative Essay The Cleveland Indians are a baseball team founded in 1894 (cleveland.indians.mlb.com). Although the name is obviously racist, in 1894 there unfortunately was not as large of public concern regarding the treatment of Native Americans. Now, the name is deemed to be offensive, as it should be. The logo depicts a Native American referred to as Chief Wahoo, an aspect of the team that also creates public scrutiny. For these reasons, the Cleveland Indians are changing their logo. However, the implementation of the decision will be put off a year and the team will continue using the name. Moreover, the logo will still be available on merchandize, enabling the team to profit off of racist insignia. In 2014, president and CEO of the Cleveland Indians, Mark Shapiro, had already limited the use of the logo. Thus, evidently, the Cleveland Indians are not doing enough to combat the prejudice and insensitivity they exhibit through their team name, mascot and logo. The team also is clearly only publicizing their supposedly monumental, yet actually minute, decision in order to boost public perception of the organization. This is an issue as it places the government as well as the school authorities in tough positions. They may make a decision that is not in favor of a certain group of people, and they may have to meet the backlash that comes from their actions. Parents may respond to certain issues when they differ from home values, or may support issues when they agree with home values. Students may stand up for their own freedoms and values, whether that is support or revulsion on a certain issue. Censorship can come in many shapes and forms; some may appear good on the surface, but what underlying notions come with them? If a school chooses to ban the book Huckleberry Finn for its usage of the N word, they may see that as a good usage of censorship. For example, a class of students said the book Huckleberry Finn [made] them uncomfortable (McDaniel). However, the problem arises when there comes a piece of literature that has the N word, or any other type of hurtful language, inside of it and does not get removed from the shelves. Cases may also come in the forms of an individual losing their job for speaking out against an issue. • 27. Advantages And Disadvantages Of PDMS Based Microfluidic... The earliest microfluidic devices were made mostly made from silicon since the technology for patterning silicon wafers had already been developed by the electronics industry for its usage in microelectronics and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS). Silicon however has the following disadvantages: (1) It is not optically transparent in the wavelength range used for optical detection; (2) Its conductive properties make it unsuitable for applications that involve electro kinetic flow to transport fluids; (3) Proteins tend to bind to silicon non selectively which rules out its application in immunoassays [Bange et al, 2005] There has recently been a lot of interest in PDMS based microfluidic systems due the numerous advantages it offers compared to glass and silicon [Kong J et al, 2009; Tanyu Wang et al, 2013 and Alphonsus et al, 2010]. PDMS is easy to fabricate, flexible, optically transparent and can irreversibly bind to itself through the application of oxygen plasma. Another major advantage is that PDMS based devices can be fabricated in normal laboratory conditions as opposed to clean room conditions that are expensive to maintain and access. • 30. Essay On Irish Dancing On Gait And Flexibility Research Proposal. Title: An examination into the effects that Irish dancing has on gait and ankle flexibility. Introduction The topic that will be discussed in this proposal is the effects of dancing on gait and ankle flexibility in dancers. The population being researched is dancers and will make comparisons between dancers and non dancers. The purpose of this research is for examining the effects dancing has on ankle flexibility and gait patterns in dancers and determining whether or not there is a difference between the gait patterns of dancers in comparison to non dancers. Dancing requires extreme ankle postures and unique balance. Intensive and long term practice of extreme ankle postures can cause changes in gait patterns in dancers during normal walking (Lung, Chern, Hsieh, Yang, 2008). Literature Review: The aim of the research carried out by Lung, Chern, Hsieh, and Yang (2008), was to investigate the differences in gait patterns between dancers and non dancers. The usual pace was slightly overwhelming and all my co workers had 2+ years of experience with the company. One night, about two months after I started working there, it was so incredibly busy that the line of customers measured out the door. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a box of jalapeño poppers and dropped all of them on the floor. The cashiers, general manager and head cook all rolled their eyes at me and shuffled past the mess. As I started to pick them up to throw them away, I noticed someone else s hand helping. I looked up inquisitively and found Ralph Flannery s eyes, the owner of the restaurant, who owned a handful of the same restaurant chain in several other locations. After we cleaned up, he asked me to go to his office when things calmed down. I went to his office expecting to turn in my name tag. Ralph looked calm and cheery, which put me at a wearisome ease. He started by explaining how cheap and worthless a box of jalapeño poppers were to him. Then Ralph transitioned to how expensive but valuable his employees were and finished by personalizing it with how important I am to him and his company s success. The second technological opportunity discussed is a Speed Governor System; this is a device in trucks that restricts the speed it can travel. The final technological opportunity discussed is the use of cloud computing; this is where information and software is shared on multiple devices. The new inventive designs of vehicles to make them more fuel efficient gives the industry a chance to lower prices because of a lower profit margin and that gives them the opportunity to be more price competitive. Providing better prices for services than other companies who do the same thing will bring in a lot more business to the company. More business is an opportunity to expand operations and invest in even more ways to save money and expand the company. With the inclusion of speed governors on trucks, trucking will be more gas efficient and safer. Gas efficiency will lead to great savings on fuel that will cut the cost of transportation. Speed governors are devices that put a limit on how fast a vehicle can go. The reduction of speed has big effects on fuel efficiency, It s a fact that slowing a truck down by 10 miles per hour reduces fuel consumed by 15 percent (Graham, 2011). Fuel efficiency is not the only thing that comes from the use of speed governors; the trucks are safer, the equipment (such as tires and brakes) last longer, and the liability cost is lower (Road Safe America, 2009). Over the past three weeks we have observed and studied the dead piglets lying in the grass, cement and suspended from a pole. Before we started the experiment, we had to answer some questions on how which piglet will decompose faster during the experiment. There was a lot discovered about the dead piglets and it was very interesting. Throughout this project, we had to answer questions on what we think will happen to the piglets and make a hypothesis on what will happen through the three weeks that we did it. Most of the questions that I had were correct with my hypothesis. One of the questions that we had to answer was, does a piglet suspended in the air decompose at a different rate than the one left on the ground or the cement? This was a difficult question but not too hard because the piglets that were suspended took a long time to decompose to just bones. Differed from the piglets in the air it took the piglets on the ground at least a week to decompose because of the heat that we had over a weekend time period that had no observations because we weren t at school. • 38. Descriptive Essay On A Restaurant Smell As I walked in the door, aromas flooded my nostrils; my day as a waitress had begun. Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabbed my attention then resumed filling the kitchen and the street air outside with a salted, hickory twist. Taking a deep breath and opening the door to the waitress station revealed a pot of freshly brewed coffee, its creamy perfume tangled with the bacon from the kitchen had encased the small town diner. My first customer was an older man. The stench of his breath was appalling, consisting of only the toxic odor of alcohol which remained from a night of heavy drinking. A quick ticket, a cup of plain coffee, and a couple sticks of fresh mint gum on the house set him on a more vibrant route; this, of course, gave him a more tolerable fragrance for the day. Glancing out the window, I noticed thick, black smoke billowing from the Whitewater Valley train: its passengers exited, covering their ears to shield from the blare of the horn. As the door opened, the dense, charcoal fog dragged in along with the new customers. Though, the kitchen buzzed with the creation of orders before long. As my day ended, I walked out of the diner to my junky old car. • 44. The Us Strategy For Winning The Global War On Terrorism In light of this, it should be mentioned that the US strategy for winning the Global War on Terrorism is predicated on creating an international environment inhospitable to terrorists and all those who support them (Fogarty 2001). Meaning, that the fight against terrorism heavily relies on international cooperation. In order to achieve such a feat, nevertheless, America must be amiable by fellow governments and their citizens. Unfortunately, the reports and findings on GTMO makes it increasingly difficult for the American administration to do so, for the inhumane treatment makes citizens of other countries upset. Quoting General Colin Powell, people from other nation states are beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism (Duberstein as cited in Washington Monthly 2008). This proves to be an immense hindrance to the war, as America cannot hope to face all of the world s terrorists alone. To put this in perspective, one can take a look at the situation with Turkey and Russia. Earlier this year, a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey, having flown into the latter s airspace without permission (BBC 2015). Granted, there lies in factors such as the decades long animosity between the two countries. Albeit, who s to say that America s relations with countries will never reach such lows?
