Phoenix In A Worn Path
In the short story A Worn Path Phoenix is an old woman who travels on a path everyday to get
medicine for her grandson. Most people believe that her grandson is dead and he most likely is
because he drank lye, which can kill you slowly or instantly (depending on how much he drank).
Phoenix still believes that her grandson is still sick and she travels a long path to get the medicine
from the hospital, which makes her very committed. For example, Phoenix states Out of my way,all
you foxes, owls, beetles, jack rabbits, coons and wild animals! ... Keep out from under theses feet, little
bob whites... Keep the big wild hogs out of my path. In these lines Phoenix talks like she has done this
and repeats this line every day. She probably thinks this

What Is The Theme Of Girl By Jamaica Kincaid Essay
Olivia Blanda
English 101
Professor Grace Hughes
24 October 2017
A Girl and her Mother There are several responsibilities a girl should learn about before going off on
her own and it is usually the mother s job to teach their daughter these life lessons. In the prose poem
Girl, by Jamaica Kincaid, a mother writes out a guide her daughter must follow in order to succeed in
her adult years. This poem that the mother has written for her daughter is better seen as a guide to
adulthood due to her use of an extremely long run on sentence and choice of diction. The run on
sentence consists of a list of commands like this is how you sweep a corner; this is how you sweep a
whole house; this is how you sweep a yard (22 24). Not only does the run on sentence depict that this
is a guide, but so does the constant repetition of this is how and don t ... Show more content on

These three dishes are not just ordinary dishes you eat on a regular day, these dishes are dishes you eat
on tradition. The mother passing down these traditions to her daughter shows that she loves her and
wants her to follow these traditions too. The mother also tells her daughter, this is how you grow okra
far from the house, because okra tree harbors red ants (20). Not only is she passing on the tradition of
how to grow okra, but she is also giving her daughter advice on how to stay away from red ants
because she wants her daughter to be safe. When the mother says things like, is it true that you sing
benna in Sunday school?...don t sing benna in Sunday school, (8 11) she is only trying to pass down
culture. Because the mother tells her daughter not to sing benna in Sunday school, it is perceived that
it is of the mother s culture to not sing benna in Sunday school, so she does not want her daughter to

Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Number 5: To begin with what is an individual? An individual is a single human being as distinct from
a group, class, or family. According to a person s nature and character can be impacted by their way of
life, society, parental influences, freedom and isolation. These factors can be seen in Mary Shelley s
novel Victor Frankenstein. Does being a neglectful parent leads to someone being dangerous in
society. Victor Frankenstein is Genevese by birth and he came from very privileged background.
Victor describes his parents to have a positive influence on his life: my mother s tenderness caresses
and my father s smile of benevolent pleasure while regarding me are my first recollections (Shelley
#31). As Victor describes some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

creature to bless him as the creator and wants it to be very appreciative to him for his creation.
However, the creature was built and Victor describes it to be as I had selected his features as beautiful.
Beautiful! Great God! . (Shelley #58). Nevertheless, when Victor went away to the valley and feeling
some form of isolation the creature was left to be on its own and thus followed Victor. Victor wanted
to have a pleasant escape and remove all his grief. Suddenly Victor saw a figure of a man. He
approached; his countenance bespoke bitter anguish, combined with disdain and malignity, while its
unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes . (Shelley #104). Victor called the
creature a devil and then said do you dare approach me? . (Shelley#104). The created mentions that he
expects this behavior of Victor. The creature then exclaimed Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me,
thy creature and Do your duty towards me and I will do mine towards you and the rest of mankind .
(Shelly #104). The creature is pleading with Victor for him to show some form of appreciation and
care for him. Thus, by stating that

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT AND IMPLICATION FOR POLITICAL STABILITY IN NIGERIA

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT AND IMPLICATION FOR POLITICAL STABILITY IN NIGERIA
(1999 2011)
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
In Nigeria, civil rule has been restored for over a decades ago, which has given people so much hopes
and expectations for political stability to enjoy the value of democratic rule. For instance, it is
assumed that with democracy, people would be free to choose their leaders and representatives and
hold them accountable for the overall objective of fast tracking development and improving the
general living conditions of the masses. This expectation is not misplaced considering that ... Show

The resulting effect is the large number of job seekers who have no place in the oil industry. Even with
the expansion of the industry, unemployment has continued to grow at an alarming rate.
The poor economic enabling environment that characterizes the economy over the years has continued
to pose serious challenges to employment generation in Nigeria. This, coupled with poor security
environment has continued to hamper investment drives and thereby reducing the prospects of
employment generation. Many job seekers who would have embarked on self employment programs
are unable to so because of the hostile production environment. Others who make attempt are forced
to wind up due to absence of infrastructures and the overall heat of the investment environment.
The consequences of unemployment in Nigeria are very severe and threatening to the citizenry and the
economy as a whole. The unemployment episode has continued to pose so many challenges to the
survival of the Nigerian nation. While some of these consequences bother directly on the unemployed,
others like epidemics are limitless in effects. All these anomalies will be examined in the subsequent
chapters of this research work.
1.3. Objective of the Study
The primary objective of this research work is to look at the socio economic effect of youth
unemployment on the Nigeria society.
Specifically, the research seeks to:
1. To examine the implications of youth

European Imperialism In Things Fall Apart
The colonization of Africa by European explorers is to this day one of the most controversial topics
still debated. Chinua Achebe s novel entitled Things Fall Apart takes readers through the life of a man
named Okonkwo. Masculine and tough, Okonkwo lives his life as any other man in Nigeria; Three
wives, a yam farm and a tightly knit belief in religion and family values. In Nigeria, having more
wives and more yams results in a higher status and that is very near and dear to Okonkwo. 1958 was a
time when the countries of Africa began to revolt against their white predecessors, riots and
movements lead to violence and even death. To show the effect of colonization specifically of white
europeans colonizing Nigeria, Achebe used a small tribe

The Navajo People Are The Largest Native American Tribe
The Navajo people are the largest Native American tribe in the United States, now with over 300,000
members. They are native to a large chunk of Southwestern United States, mostly in New Mexico and
Arizona, but also partially in Utah and Colorado. It was sometime between 1100 1500 A.D. when a
distinguishable Navajo culture began to appear. The first Western contact that is known with the
Navajo occurred near 1581 1583 A.D. Historians believe that the Navajo were relatively peaceful with
their new Spanish neighbors. However there were some times over the centuries after the Spanish
settlement in which the Navajo fought Spanish settlers to retain their land.
The Navajo s first contact with the United States came during the Mexican American War. The area
where the Navajo lived was seen as a strategic area for the United States military. Troops were
therefore brought to Navajo land to form treaties with them. Both sides more or less ignored these
treaties. Navajo groups and New Mexican settlers would often clash. The United States government
began mobilizing troops to New Mexico, and proceeded to establish military bases there. This initially
established a precedence that the government could take advantage of the Navajo people. For the most
part, the Navajo wanted to avoid any conflict, and the United States government chose to exploit this.

Performance Based Design For An Integrated Solution
PERFORMANCE BASED DESIGN
The concept of achieving design with some focus on performance is not new, the tools and methods
that changes. To discuss performance for design, it is important to classify and separate its functions
and features. If a building consists of a set of parameters, the design process can be associated to a
balance act, where parameters are weight and arranged to fit the context of a project.
In traditional architectural design, the use of measurable parameters often postponed or take place in a
later phase of the design process. The concept design is rather focused on aesthetics, plan functionality
and experience of spaces, however, this approach limits the success of an integrated solution.
Today, there is an almost understood association with computational tools along with the measurable
parameters and thresholds. The massive power of computation makes it superlative for repeating
calculations, it could be useful in optimization algorithms for instance, and the target parameters for
the optimization have to be simple enough to be expressed in a computer algorithm. In the application
of structural engineering, these quantifiable and measurable parameters could be mass, force, moment,
deflection or even cost.

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Essay
Clotilde Terranova was one of the 146 victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. The Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a fire on the top three floors of the Asch Building in Brooklyn, New York.
No one knows the real cause of the fire. Most believe it started when someone tossed a burning
cigarette bud into the scrap bin on the eighth floor. The building itself was fireproof, but there was so
many flammable things inside the building that caused the fire to spread so rapidly. Terranova was on
the tenth floor during the fire. She was the only death among the approximately seventy workers on
the tenth floor. When Clotilde Terranova first immigrated to America from Italy, she was 19 years old.
She went to visit her sister in Brooklyn, New York. Three years later, Terranova had been a working as
a garment worker on the tenth floor of the Asch Building. She did not know she would have been one

The Politics of Campaign Finance Essay
From the very first elections held in the United States, there has always been a strong link between
money and politics. During the first elections in the late 1700 s you had to be a white male landowner
over the age of 21 in order to vote, meaning that you had to have money in order to have your vote
counted. It seems today that we cannot go a day with out seeing campaign finance in the media,
whether or not it is through advertisements for politicians in the media or asked to donate money to
help let your favorite candidate win. Because campaign finance has always been on the back burner of
political issues, there has hardly been any change to the large influence money has over the election
process and politicians. While money has it s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his campaign McKinley supported the Gold Standard, encouraged the minority groups to
maintain their unique cultural differences within the larger societies and launched a new way of
campaign advertisement that lead him to victory.
Of course this would not have been at all possible if it were not for his campaign leader Mark Hanna.
Through the leadership of Mark Hanna, McKinley was able to forge alliances with big businessmen,
prosperous farmers and professions making his campaign budget out to be about 3.5 million dollars
causing his campaign to be the most expensive of its time. With the discovery of the large amount of
money spent on McKinley s campaign several progressive politicians and muckraking journalists
accused the wealthy donors of corrupting the electoral process and alleged that the donors were being
fed special handouts and favors as a result of donating their money. However, these cries were ignored
until the 1904 political elections that lead to the beginning of the organized progress for campaign
finance reform. (Morgan, 2003)

Exposing the Ugliness of Tourism in Jamaica Kincaid s...
Jamaica Kincaid addresses the reader as a tourist in her book A Small Place. Throughout the book her
sarcasm and resentment towards the postcolonial state of the country cannot be missed. She exposes
the ugliness of tourism, she writes, The thing you have always suspected about yourself the minute
you become a tourist is true: A tourist is an ugly human being (14). Kincaid points to the fact that the
tourists (European and American) and the tourism industry are morally ugly. The first section of her
book displays how tourism uses the natives and the country as sources of pleasure for the tourists as
they make their way to their hotel, they watch in awe at the condition of the country. Kincaid writes,
They [Antiguans] are too poor to escape the reality of their lives; and they are too poor to live properly
in the place where they live, which is the very place you, the tourist, want to go they envy your ability
to turn their own banality and boredom into a source of pleasure for yourself (19). The tourists do not
see, and perhaps do not want to see the reality of this picturesque island they are vacationing on.
Kincaid writes, [Y]ou needn t let that slightly funny feeling you have from time to time about
exploitation, oppression, domination develop into full fledged unease, discomfort; you could ruin your
holiday (10). This mirrors the mindset of not only tourists, but of the past and current exploiters who
do not see the suffering and damage they cause, but

Lord Of The Flies Identity Character Analysis
Wept for the end of innocence and the darkness of man s heart. This is the idea of living with a
different identity.Young British boys crashed on an island on their way to a field trip having their lives
turned upside and no one knows where there are. Some of them, stay on the good side while the others
turn dark. Two of the main characters; Ralph and Piggy stay true to themselves. At least one of them
does. Piggy is chubby boy who has asthma and using his intelligence in a worthy way. Ralph is a 12
year old elected leader. While everyone else is having fun he wants to build hunts. Ralph and Piggy
along with the rest of the boys are taken away from the influence of society and order and lose
themselves in the process. Throughout the novel Lord of the Flies, the boys start to lose their own
identity and civilization and become savages as they also start to lose their innocence. The events that
occur compromise how they end up when they are rescued. While Piggy gains his identity throughout
the course of the novel, Ralph does the opposite as he loses his identity as he begins to lose hope. In
his time on the island, certain events that occur help Piggy change in a positive way. Piggy has always
been they boy that gets left behind and ignored. His voice is never heard. Some people will lose
character if they were stuck on a deserted island but that s not the case here, he found his true
identification. Most of the time, the children would pick on Piggy and tease him.

Canada s Immigration And Refugee Protection Act
Canada s Immigration Policies: Canada s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) determines
whether or not someone is eligible to immigrate to Canada. There are 3 different sections of the policy,
but in general, it factors in nationality, age, language ability, family members, education, work
experience, and income. Within the different areas of the immigration policy, which are economic,
family reunification, and refugee, there are more specific things looked at in applicants. In the
economic area, applicants are rewarded points based on their level of education, ability to speak
English and/or French, income, and previous work experience. The family reunification section
includes spouses and children joining family members that are already living in Canada, or same sex
couples that are not legally married if there are restrictions in the country they are coming from. These
immigrants have to provide proof and demonstrate that they are related to, married to, or in a
committed relationship with the person they claim to be joining. A smaller portion of the immigrants
coming to Canada are considered to be refugees. Refugees must be part of a humanitarian resettlement
program, which is a Canadian program that helps people seeking protection outside of Canada with
the help of international partners, or claim for asylum protection, which is where Canada provides
protection for those who would be in danger if they returned to their own country.

Arguments Against Capitalism
Capitalism is defined as an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are
controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Base on the reading and the fading of
the word freedom in the background, the term Capitalism is portrayed in a negative light affecting its
connotation. I comprehend that the private sector is recognized as a critical driver of economic
growth, which contributes significantly to poverty reduction and higher living standards for poor
people, Although, the fading of the word freedom emphasizes that capitalism, controlled by private
sectors who provides majority of jobs to Americans, contradicts its representation of the free
enterprise system. The tone of the photograph could be described as ... Show more content on

This type of argument is evident in the picture because it ridicules the term freedom with our rights by
placing it as a faded concept in the background, meanwhile emphasizing on the word Capitalism. I
agree with the pictures intent to question capitalism due to the fact that capitalism is a system based on
the principle of individual rights, and the free market, known as the system of Laissez faire. The
picture most appropriately responds to the first question of the Stasis Theory which state, Did
something happened? The choice of words used by the author created a sarcastic tone resulting in the
reader wondering if something happened. The question responds correctly to the statement because it
causes one to question and acknowledge that capitalism represents the free market, the principle of
individual rights, and the system of Laissez faire, therefore, the word freedom being faded in the
background demean the value and importance of the word when the term capitalism represents similar

Malcolm X Bullet
The civil rights era as a result of cultural forces and political awakenings created bold speakers. Many
of these orators were audacious in their speeches, however few came close to Malcolm X. Malcolm X
carried a fearless attitude presenting speeches that have been etched into American History, one the of
the most iconic of these speeches was Ballot or the Bullet . It embodies ideas of self determination
coupled with an intense call to action. The Ballot or the Bullet is a great speech because it skillfully
straddles the line between inciting violence and inspiring change. The Ballot or the Bullet is capable
of leaving a lasting impact due to its inflammatory statements. Malcolm X uses these statements
carefully throughout the speech to grab the audience s attention when he is attempting to convey
important statements. Malcolm X starts the speech with a description of the difficult choice that
African Americans are facing. He states controversially at the top of the speech, The Negro Revolt,
and Where Do We Go From Here ... it points toward either the ballot or the bullet (X) .His description
of the Civil Rights movement as a Negro Revolt was contentious due to violent undertones however, it
manages to hook the reader and steer the argument the way Malcolm X desires. Therefore, through
controversy Malcolm X accomplishes two goals, first shocking than progressing society. By shocking
society Malcolm X hopes to create change. He does this through reckless actions, as described by him

Movie Review Research Paper
A movie reviewer for a newspaper has the intriguing job of previewing movies, and even the honor of
determining the success of the movie. Today we will discuss more of what this job entails, and even
how you could get this job for yourself. First let us start off with the job description. Movie reviewers
have the job of watching movies before they even come out. Not only can they do this for free, but
they get paid for this. All they need is a love for movies, a natural gift for writing, and a degree in
journalism certainly helps, though not required. Popular movie reviewers get to interview top stars,
producers, and moved directors. Imagine having the chance to interview your favorite movie star or
director. Now you can imagine the appeal of a job as a movie. Movie reviewers have both an
analytical and creative mind. The analytical part to judge parts of the movie such as tone, theme, and
plot focus. While the creative part determines how good the movie is with a personal bias. These
reviews help determine the success of a movie. There is the occasional exception, if the reviews on a
movie are bad, usually the movie does bad in the box office. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While a major in journalism helps, it is not required. However, the chances of getting a job in this field
at first is slim. An easier way to get started in this field is to just go see new movies, write a review for
them, and post the review online. While you will not get paid at first this is a good way to get enough
experience to be considered for a position at a newspaper. Once you get popular enough companies
might start to invite you to previewing to get your feedback. Just remember add something unique to

Hrolf Kraki Kings
In The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki we are introduced to multiple kings who are different in many ways.
Each one of these achieve their leadership roles in different ways and are held to different standards.
Some of these kings include King Frodi, King Hegi, and of course King Hrolf Kraki. King Frodi is
one of the first kings mentioned in The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki and portrayed as the jealous, cold
hearted brother of Halfdan. King Frodi and King Halfdan both achieved their leadership due to being
sons of a previous king. We are told the King Frodi envied his brother because he ruled Denmark, so

King Helgi then used a beggar to trick Queen Olof into going into the woods in the search of treasure.
King Helgi then took her and raped her. This shows how although kings during that time were seen to
be ideal warriors, they were also flawed. Like King Frodi, King Helgi lacked some morals and
eventually suffers the consequences of his actions when his daughter Yrsa who later found out that he
was her father and he had raped her mother, had him attacked. Then there is King Hrolf Kraki who
shows us an example of what was a truly great king. King Hrolf has most of the honorable traits of
that time that allowed him to obtain his leader ship along with his fame. Hrolf was for the most part
successful in his battles due to being able to gather up many noble warriors who were called King
Hrolf s Champions He treated these mean with a certain brotherhood that isn t really shown by the
other kings in the Saga. This appears to be an important trait for him to have during this time and it
works in his favor. As more men heard about how he honored his champions, they were attracted
towards him which allowed him to build a decent sized army of warriors. An example of this
happening is when Svipdag told his king that he was leaving because he wanted to look for a king who
will honour (Pg. 30) him and his brothers more. Although King Hrolf Kraki had many honorable traits
he too was flawed like most people. One mistake

Serotonin is the reason for the mania in bipolar disorder whereas the other two chemicals is what
creates depression and bipolar disorder. There are different ways to cope with bipolar disorder and the
feelings that one feels when going through episodes. There are many ways to cope with bipolar
disorder, some more effective than others. Ways that people with bipolar disorder cope are through
psychotherapy, medications, substance abuse, electric shock therapy and more methods that are not
mentioned above. Psychotherapy is a way of coping through talking with a counselor; this is able to
help because the patient is able to talk about what is bothering them and the way that one is feeling at
the time. However, bipolar disorder needs more then psychotherapy since it is a chemical imbalance.
Bipolar disorder can be helped with medications that can help fix the imbalance. Pharmacotherapy is
still the essential treatment for the acute mania in bipolar disorder. The only drugs that were approved
by the FDA were lithium and chlorpromazine. (quote acute mania) As years went by the more new
discoveries were made for different mood stabilizers to treat bipolar disorder. When being prescribed
to any medication for mental illness, the therapist should make sure that they are giving the correct
dosages for the patient and making sure the side effects if any, are not irrational or making the
symptoms worse rather than better. One of the typical and most used

Lovato s Acting Career
Both Lovato s mother and father were involved in the music industry, so it only made sense she would
one day fall in love with music as well. Not only was her mother a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, she
was also a recording country music artist (Cruz, 2015). Her father, Patrick Lovato, was a musician and
a sound engineer. Lovato, herself, got into music at a young age, when she sang Celine Dion s, My
Heart Will Go On, at her kindergarten talent show. From then on, her mother and sisters knew she was
gifted, and music would have a major impact on her life. Lovato s music and acting career initially
began in the pageant industry (Lovato et al., Davis, 2017). Both she and her sister, Dallas, were in
pageants growing up, thus providing her first taste of the spotlight. From there, Lovato got into the
acting business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This initial acting part sparked many other small character roles for Lovato. After Barney Friends, she
was cast in small parts in television shows such as Prison Break and Just Jordan (Cruz, 2015). These
led to her being casted as Charlotte in the Disney Channel show, As the Bell Rings, this would become
her first larger character role (Cruz, 2015; Lovato et al., Davis, 2017). Being casted in the Disney
Channel show, As the Bell Rings, would crack the door for Lovato to one day become a Disney
celebrity. However, Lovato would not become well known until she landed the leading role of Mitchie
Torres in the Disney movie, Camp Rock, which premiered in June of 2008 (Lovato et al., Davis,
2017). Her performances in Camp Rock, and later Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, launched her career,

The Coca Cola Company
Introduction
We all have our idols that aspire and hope to emulate, for example Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly,
Wayne Rooney, Aamir Khan etc. the list is endless. All these prominent and great personalities have

The company is best known for its flagship product Coca Cola, invented in 1886 by pharmacist John

Evolution Vs Artificial Selection
I would like to respectfully comment that when you say There is a reason that the original genes did
not allow it to survive, it implies that the naturally occurring genetic information is consciously
directing the survival of the organism. Evolution is a natural process, and is not perfect. What occurs
naturally is not necessarily what is best for the organism. Genetic modification is not much different
from artificial selection, in which one chooses which organism or organisms are to reproduce based
upon one s desired traits of the offspring. Some common examples are the domestication of a naturally
occurring form of wheat to become the plump corn we know today, and the breeding of wolves to
become dogs. Humans were doing this even before

Latin American Culture Essay examples
Latin American Culture
Latin America represents 1/10 of the world s population, and geographically can be located from the
land extensions of Mexico, until the Patagonia at Argentina. Some of the most relevant elements of
today s culture in Latin America are; Religion, Values, Attitudes, Social structure, Social stratification,
Language and Gift giving hospitality. The predominant religion throughout history in Latin America
has been Catholicism. From big cities to small villages, churches, basilicas, and cathedrals are found.
Catholicism left its mark, from customs and values to architecture and art. During many years in many
countries the Catholic Church had power over all civil institutions, education, and law. Nowadays

In Latin American culture the most important unit of the social structure is the family. The most
important unit within the family is the oldest male of the house, which generally is the father or
grandfather. In Latin American culture, the degree of social stratification is very high. The social
mobility is very limited due that the Latin American society is merely classis. This classis is based on
race and ethnicity. Latin American might be considered as multilingual; nevertheless Spanish is
predominant in most countries. Latin American language was influenced by the Spanish and
Portuguese conquerors, native Indians, the African slaves, the immigrants communities of World War I
and II.
2. An important factor that might cause a cultural change in Latin America is Globalization.
Industrialization is growing in Latin America rapidly and this is a consequence of globalization. Some
of the changes that are likely to occur are modernization of cities which will make rich people richer,
and poor people poorer. Mega cities are being built by multinational corporations in cities such as
Santiago in Chile. The Contrast between these wealthy mega cities with rural areas can be very
extreme. For example in Argentina there is an emerging high tech industry brought by globalization.
Entering globalization also means that Latin Americans will have to acquire more and new skills,

Computer Simulation Software Based On Over The Counter (...
PharmaSim Final Report PharmaSim is computer simulation software based on over the counter
(OTC) cold medicine industry. It offers students interesting and different formats in which to learn
about marketing. The purpose of this exercise, for Team D, is to learn about marketing management
and decision making in a dynamic and highly competitive (saturated) business environment in which
students are tasked with making critical marketing decisions over a 7 year period; the PharmaSim
simulation program consisted of different marketing periods (seven) in which students perform the
duties of the marketing management team at the over the counter cold medicine (OCM) group of
Allstar Brands. Allstar brands Allround®, a global manufacturing leader of packaged goods since the
mid 1920 s, is currently the market leader in OTC cold remedies though, not making the most revenue
on it. The simulation of decision making for Allround® provides students with the following: 1)
experience in working with all of the concepts and tools that have been introduced in the course, 2)
reinforced understanding of importance of need to shape marketing decisions so that they are both
internally and externally consistent, and 3) real world demonstration, in a way the lectures cannot
replicate, of the complexities involved with marketing management. As will be discussed below, we
experienced highs and lows as new marketing management decision makers. We maneuvered and

The Twisted Darkness Analysis
The Twisted Darkness
Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote and published many novels and short stories throughout his career,
including several published anonymously. More often readers find a his work to be different types of
romance followed and surrounded with twists of darkness. Based on Hawthorne s biography you can
find most of his characters and the darkness in his stories, come from personal experience. The mix of
success and failure during Hawthorne s writing career resembles parts in his story The Devil in
Manuscript leading to an unfathomable twist for his readers. Born in Salem Massachusetts in 1804,
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born into a prominent family. His ancestors were some of the earliest to
settle in the country; including Nathaniel s late relative John Hathorne who stood as a judge during the
Salem witch trials. The passing of his father to yellow fever, Nathaniel at age four was raised by his
widowed mother in mournful seclusion (Marks 1). Shortly after the death of his father, his mother
moved the family to Maine in 1815 where poetry and romance peaked Hawthorne s interest (Marks 1).
Graduating Bowdoin College at the age of twenty five, Hawthorne returned to Salem where he began
his writing allegorical stories concerning the moral values of New England (Marks 1). Nonetheless at
just twenty eight years of age, Hawthorne anonymously published his first novel Fanshawe covering
his time spent in college. Disgusted after the novel went virtually unnoticed, his

Indigenous Feminism Summary
In chapter five of her book, Anderson starts it by stating that I m not a feminist . She shares her
experience that this is the remark she very often hears from Indigenous women. She further narrates
that when she shared the idea of writing an essay on Indigenous feminism with friends and colleagues,
many of them were skeptical: some seemed bored; others considered it a waste of time; remaining
labeled it a negative activity. Interestingly, one of the author s friends remarked that feminists are
always arguing against something . These sentiments are main reasons of discouragement among
Indigenous women to be identified as feminist. In my opinion, this issue is very complex; therefore,
should be looked at holistically. Before I further reflect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also talks about the Native feminist ethics, which brings understanding of the cultural perspectives
of leadership under the spotlight. In this respect, I think understanding of Native women s traditional
gender functions, roles and responsibilities is crucial in perceiving Indigenous feminism. This is
because I think in many tribal societies such as the Pashtun tribal societies in the northwestern FATA
(Federally Administered Tribal Areas) perceive gender roles and responsibilities as complementary.
The FATA areas and the colonial government system were creation of the British colonizers. This
example is very much relevant to the case of Native societies that were/are colonized in North
America because the British colonial rulers applied the similar methods to control and regulate
Pashtun tribes in the FATA areas. In comparison to the CFR Courts to implement the Code of Indian
Offences in Canada, the colonizers introduced and enforced the FCR (Frontier Crimes Regulations) in
the FATA areas on the Pakistani side of the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In this colonial
structure, the Political Agent system implemented the FCR in which, for example, because of one
tribal individual the entire tribe was punished. Unfortunately, the FCR is still very much alive and is
being used the way many colonial laws are currently implemented in Canada and

Analysis Of King Henry V
By Shakespeare making audiences question this particular scene in the play and make Boudreaux 6
the distinction between the paths to win honor, readers and spectators can conclude that Shakespeare
still has a particular fondness for Hotspur over Prince Henry, due to the fact that Hotspur s actions are
identified as the proper way of earning honor. In the end, Prince Henry s intentions do become more
honorable, because he does come to care about the kingdom in Henry V, but initially; it is selfish
reasons that drove him to fight for honor. To continue the study of honor, Prince Henry becomes King
Henry V in Shakespeare s play King Henry V, and audiences see the continuation of the theme of
honor throughout the play. Fast forwarding to Act Four, Scene Three, audiences hear one of many
memorable speeches by King Henry V during his Crispin Day speech. King Henry V exclaims: This
story shall the good man teach his son, And Crispin Crispian shall ne er go by From this day to the
ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered, We few, we happy few, we band of brothers
For he today that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother. (4.3.56 62) To recap, King Henry V is
telling his men that if they fight, they will become a brother to him, which means calling them his
equal. He tells them it does not matter if they live or die, because they will forever be remembered by
all. They will have

Finding Rhetoric in Our Lives
The commercial of my choice was the Old Spice ad that is advertising their new line of body wash
that is advertised having odor block power. The commercial is made by old spice and has a lot of
ethos, pathos, and logos throughout the commercial, and is very effective at all three. I think that the
commercial works and gets straight to the point in a very short time. Its main goal is to sell and make
money off their product that is said to keep you smelling god and stopping odor from coming off you.
They use a very famous actor, Terry Crews, to tell you that the product works and he even shows how
it blocks the odor, and it uses logos by giving off the time it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It demonstrates how he washes his body and it takes immediate effects in stopping the odor. Another
instance of the commercial using ethos is how often the ad and all the diversity in each one being
played everywhere on everything, which shows that they have a good feeling that people will see this
and purchase the product from them as soon as possible. The brand of Old Spice already does have a
good reputation and is one of the leading brands in men s health and cleanliness behind Axe brand. So
it doesn t need as many appeals to ethos because they already have good credibility and most people
know the name and will trust them. The uses of pathos is how he seems to be screaming at the
audience which may seem to intimidate them into buying the old spice body wash. He seems over
excited and is very big which may make you feel like if you don t buy it then he ll do something about
it. There are a lot of different emotional appeals through this commercial that will affect many people
in different emotional states while hearing the commercial. It is very effective and is the most
predominately used rhetoric device used in the commercial. Another emotional response you feel
would be happiness because the commercial is overall a comedic ad that wants to make you feel
happy and make you feel like you can trust them and their product. They portray this by having him
express his opinions on odor and why you

I Am A Solider.

of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance
to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the
officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So
help me God. I did it; I passed my Armed Services Vocational Battery text (ASVAB) and made it past
Military Entrance Processing (MEPS). I am one step away from being an official solider, now all I
have to do is make it past basic training. As the plane lands in Atlanta, Georgia two hundred others

Jackson, South Carolina. I glance at my watch, it s three o clock in the morning. The Drill Sergeants
are screaming MOVE PRIVATES! WE DON T HAVE ALL DAY! I run as fast as I can to formation
just to stand at the position of attention for three hours. The morning sun is beating me in the face and
the Drill Sergeants are still yelling. A voice rings out, Private First Class Dickenson report to the
Captain s office now. Oh My God, what the hell did I do? Here I am half way through basic and haven

Escape The War Zone Essay
Escape the War Zone The War Zone (Tim Roth, 1999) narrates a story of a fifteen year old teenager
named Tom, whose life drastically changes right after his family moves from London to a small town
with no kith nor kin. Tom considers his new home a prison and develops a strong abhorrence to his
father after discovering the latter to have been raping Tom s older sister, Jessie, while Tom s mother
prefers not to pay attention to what is happening around, devoting herself to a newborn child.
Unveiling the tragedy within the ordinary English family, The War Zone highlights the conflict of
reasoning and emotion which appears as a response to the problem of incest and rape. The film s
exposition sets a depressing mood from the beginning. The opening tracking shot depicts Tom rushing
off the hill along the asphalt road, replaced by a bumpy path which leads to a jail like house,
indicating metaphorical running towards tribulation. Steadily dull weather without any glimpse of
sunlight insinuates the apathetic sentiment within the family. Remarkably, Tom s house family has
settled on the seashore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

another side through the camera lens, replacing himself with an impartial observer, an instrument

he had seen, and threw the camera into the sea, denying the true atrocity. Only after Tom discovers
that his father had gone too far with his heinous desires and ended up raping Tom s newborn sister, the
teenager found the courage to confront his father. However, Tom s hatred waded through his
reasoning, so he stabbed his father with a kitchen knife, rushing into the embrace of rage and

The Effects Of Co2 On The Permeability Of Indian...
Introduction
In the storage of CO2 in the deep geologic reservoirs for enhancing extraction of coalbed methane
area, Vishal et al. argue against the consequences of CO2 injection on the permeability of Indian
bituminous coal at different confining and injection pressure.
The major approach of the journal is to clarify about when and how would the incensement of
injection pressure have impact on the permeability of coalbed methane.
As a final year Civil Engineering student, I found this journal is educational and inspiring. The
research shows a comprehensive explanation of how pressure and stress of permeability of coal to sub
critical CO2 is tested.
Summary
In order to reduce greenhouse gases, Vishal et al. is investigating a ... Show more content on

The effective stress is proportional to the confining pressure and pore pressure. Results, a trend of
exponential decline in permeability with increasing effective stress is observed. During the passage of
CO2 through the coal sample, the gas is absorbed, which cause volume deformation.
The journal concluded that the reduction in permeability of coal maybe attributes to the role of coal
matrix expansion. CO2 gets preferentially adsorbed onto the surface of the coal. At the same time,
adsorption induces swelling at the time of coal exposure to the gas. The increase of injection of gas
will cause the decline in permeability is belongs to the fracture spacing is not completely closed and
the movement of gas cause swelling. However, the closure of fractures, a flow with increase
permeability at higher injection pressure occurs at the highest confining pressure.. This is because the
opening of fracture by increases the fracture apertures and this can enable easier flow (The University
of Alabama. College of Continuing Studies, College of engineering, 2004).
Evaluation
The information is relatively accurate, as there will be always variables about the geological
conditions. For instance, the selected sample area is Jharia, the results obtained are respected to a
certain area, but it is different to the whole area of Jharia. In the meantime, the detail of geological
information is necessary for the testing, but there are only limited investigations are available for the

Most people believe that her grandson is dead and he most likely is because he drank lye, which can kill you slowly or instantly (depending on how much he drank). Phoenix still believes that her grandson is still sick and she travels a long path to get the medicine from the hospital, which makes her very committed. For example, Phoenix states Out of my way,all you foxes, owls, beetles, jack rabbits, coons and wild animals! ... • 3. What Is The Theme Of Girl By Jamaica Kincaid Essay Olivia Blanda English 101 Professor Grace Hughes 24 October 2017 A Girl and her Mother There are several responsibilities a girl should learn about before going off on her own and it is usually the mother s job to teach their daughter these life lessons. In the prose poem Girl, by Jamaica Kincaid, a mother writes out a guide her daughter must follow in order to succeed in her adult years. This poem that the mother has written for her daughter is better seen as a guide to adulthood due to her use of an extremely long run on sentence and choice of diction. The run on sentence consists of a list of commands like this is how you sweep a corner; this is how you sweep a whole house; this is how you sweep a yard (22 24). Not only does the run on sentence depict that this is a guide, but so does the constant repetition of this is how and don t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These three dishes are not just ordinary dishes you eat on a regular day, these dishes are dishes you eat on tradition. The mother passing down these traditions to her daughter shows that she loves her and wants her to follow these traditions too. The mother also tells her daughter, this is how you grow okra far from the house, because okra tree harbors red ants (20). Not only is she passing on the tradition of how to grow okra, but she is also giving her daughter advice on how to stay away from red ants because she wants her daughter to be safe. When the mother says things like, is it true that you sing benna in Sunday school?...don t sing benna in Sunday school, (8 11) she is only trying to pass down culture. Because the mother tells her daughter not to sing benna in Sunday school, it is perceived that it is of the mother s culture to not sing benna in Sunday school, so she does not want her daughter to fall out of ... According to a person s nature and character can be impacted by their way of life, society, parental influences, freedom and isolation. These factors can be seen in Mary Shelley s novel Victor Frankenstein. Does being a neglectful parent leads to someone being dangerous in society. Victor Frankenstein is Genevese by birth and he came from very privileged background. Victor describes his parents to have a positive influence on his life: my mother s tenderness caresses and my father s smile of benevolent pleasure while regarding me are my first recollections (Shelley #31). Victor began constructing the creature after months of gathering and planning. Furthermore, Victor wants the creature to bless him as the creator and wants it to be very appreciative to him for his creation. However, the creature was built and Victor describes it to be as I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! Great God! . (Shelley #58). Nevertheless, when Victor went away to the valley and feeling some form of isolation the creature was left to be on its own and thus followed Victor. Victor wanted to have a pleasant escape and remove all his grief. Suddenly Victor saw a figure of a man. He approached; his countenance bespoke bitter anguish, combined with disdain and malignity, while its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes . (Shelley #104). Victor called the creature a devil and then said do you dare approach me? . (Shelley#104). The created mentions that he expects this behavior of Victor. The creature then exclaimed Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature and Do your duty towards me and I will do mine towards you and the rest of mankind . (Shelly #104). For instance, it is assumed that with democracy, people would be free to choose their leaders and representatives and hold them accountable for the overall objective of fast tracking development and improving the general living conditions of the masses. This expectation is not misplaced considering that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The resulting effect is the large number of job seekers who have no place in the oil industry. Even with the expansion of the industry, unemployment has continued to grow at an alarming rate. The poor economic enabling environment that characterizes the economy over the years has continued to pose serious challenges to employment generation in Nigeria. This, coupled with poor security environment has continued to hamper investment drives and thereby reducing the prospects of employment generation. Many job seekers who would have embarked on self employment programs are unable to so because of the hostile production environment. Others who make attempt are forced to wind up due to absence of infrastructures and the overall heat of the investment environment. The consequences of unemployment in Nigeria are very severe and threatening to the citizenry and the economy as a whole. • 8. The Navajo People Are The Largest Native American Tribe The Navajo people are the largest Native American tribe in the United States, now with over 300,000 members. They are native to a large chunk of Southwestern United States, mostly in New Mexico and Arizona, but also partially in Utah and Colorado. It was sometime between 1100 1500 A.D. when a distinguishable Navajo culture began to appear. The first Western contact that is known with the Navajo occurred near 1581 1583 A.D. Historians believe that the Navajo were relatively peaceful with their new Spanish neighbors. However there were some times over the centuries after the Spanish settlement in which the Navajo fought Spanish settlers to retain their land. The Navajo s first contact with the United States came during the Mexican American War. The area where the Navajo lived was seen as a strategic area for the United States military. Troops were therefore brought to Navajo land to form treaties with them. Both sides more or less ignored these treaties. Navajo groups and New Mexican settlers would often clash. The United States government began mobilizing troops to New Mexico, and proceeded to establish military bases there. This initially established a precedence that the government could take advantage of the Navajo people. For the most part, the Navajo wanted to avoid any conflict, and the United States government chose to exploit this. • 9. Performance Based Design For An Integrated Solution PERFORMANCE BASED DESIGN The concept of achieving design with some focus on performance is not new, the tools and methods that changes. To discuss performance for design, it is important to classify and separate its functions and features. If a building consists of a set of parameters, the design process can be associated to a balance act, where parameters are weight and arranged to fit the context of a project. In traditional architectural design, the use of measurable parameters often postponed or take place in a later phase of the design process. The concept design is rather focused on aesthetics, plan functionality and experience of spaces, however, this approach limits the success of an integrated solution. Today, there is an almost understood association with computational tools along with the measurable parameters and thresholds. The massive power of computation makes it superlative for repeating calculations, it could be useful in optimization algorithms for instance, and the target parameters for the optimization have to be simple enough to be expressed in a computer algorithm. In the application of structural engineering, these quantifiable and measurable parameters could be mass, force, moment, deflection or even cost. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a fire on the top three floors of the Asch Building in Brooklyn, New York. No one knows the real cause of the fire. Most believe it started when someone tossed a burning cigarette bud into the scrap bin on the eighth floor. The building itself was fireproof, but there was so many flammable things inside the building that caused the fire to spread so rapidly. Terranova was on the tenth floor during the fire. She was the only death among the approximately seventy workers on the tenth floor. When Clotilde Terranova first immigrated to America from Italy, she was 19 years old. • 11. The Politics of Campaign Finance Essay From the very first elections held in the United States, there has always been a strong link between money and politics. During the first elections in the late 1700 s you had to be a white male landowner over the age of 21 in order to vote, meaning that you had to have money in order to have your vote counted. It seems today that we cannot go a day with out seeing campaign finance in the media, whether or not it is through advertisements for politicians in the media or asked to donate money to help let your favorite candidate win. Because campaign finance has always been on the back burner of political issues, there has hardly been any change to the large influence money has over the election process and politicians. During his campaign McKinley supported the Gold Standard, encouraged the minority groups to maintain their unique cultural differences within the larger societies and launched a new way of campaign advertisement that lead him to victory. Through the leadership of Mark Hanna, McKinley was able to forge alliances with big businessmen, prosperous farmers and professions making his campaign budget out to be about 3.5 million dollars causing his campaign to be the most expensive of its time. With the discovery of the large amount of money spent on McKinley s campaign several progressive politicians and muckraking journalists accused the wealthy donors of corrupting the electoral process and alleged that the donors were being fed special handouts and favors as a result of donating their money. • 12. Exposing the Ugliness of Tourism in Jamaica Kincaid s... Jamaica Kincaid addresses the reader as a tourist in her book A Small Place. Throughout the book her sarcasm and resentment towards the postcolonial state of the country cannot be missed. She exposes the ugliness of tourism, she writes, The thing you have always suspected about yourself the minute you become a tourist is true: A tourist is an ugly human being (14). Kincaid points to the fact that the tourists (European and American) and the tourism industry are morally ugly. The first section of her book displays how tourism uses the natives and the country as sources of pleasure for the tourists as they make their way to their hotel, they watch in awe at the condition of the country. Kincaid writes, They [Antiguans] are too poor to escape the reality of their lives; and they are too poor to live properly in the place where they live, which is the very place you, the tourist, want to go they envy your ability to turn their own banality and boredom into a source of pleasure for yourself (19). The tourists do not see, and perhaps do not want to see the reality of this picturesque island they are vacationing on. Kincaid writes, [Y]ou needn t let that slightly funny feeling you have from time to time about exploitation, oppression, domination develop into full fledged unease, discomfort; you could ruin your holiday (10). There are 3 different sections of the policy, but in general, it factors in nationality, age, language ability, family members, education, work experience, and income. Within the different areas of the immigration policy, which are economic, family reunification, and refugee, there are more specific things looked at in applicants. This is because the opening of fracture by increases the fracture apertures and this can enable easier flow (The University of Alabama. College of Continuing Studies, College of engineering, 2004). Evaluation The information is relatively accurate, as there will be always variables about the geological conditions. For instance, the selected sample area is Jharia, the results obtained are respected to a certain area, but it is different to the whole area of Jharia. In the meantime, the detail of geological information is necessary for the testing, but there are only limited investigations are available for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
