Analysis of Women Role´s in Louisa May Alcott´s Little Women
Throughout most of the 19th century, feminine behavior was expected from every respectable woman.
However Lousia May Alcott s novel Little Women displays interesting qualities from her characters
that represent aberrance and independence; Alcott challenged conventional beliefs about how women
should behave in the 1800s. Similar to Alcott herself, the main character was determined to become a
writer despite the fact that popular portrayals of working women during the era often pictured them as
socially deviant and was considered unfit to become a motherly figure (Alcott, Louisa May). She
wrote Little Women as a moral paper for children, allowing any young reader to relate to at least one
of the March Girls: Meg, Jo, Beth, or Amy ( In the Garret ). In her innovative novel Little Women,
Alcott expresses her controversial views concerning traditional roles of women through the
temperamental protagonist, Jo, who represents independence and morality for girls in the late 1800s.
Traditional roles of women in America during the 1860s were significantly different than they are
today. Around the Civil War era, most women were expected to be homemakers above anything else.
They spent much of their days cooking, sewing, or cleaning, and if they failed to create a cheerful,
cozy home environment, they were looked down upon because it was considered unacceptable
according to society s standards. ( Literature and Its Times. ) In addition to housework, mothers

Epistemology And The Pursuit Of Knowledge Essay
Epistemology has been the spearhead of every academia battle. It is undeniable that theories of
knowledge and the pursuit of knowledge have infinite and unknown complexities. Therefore, there
must be a common ground that permits separation of these complexities into useful and beneficial
terms, theories, and notions. More specifically, this can be accomplished by examining the social
character of knowledge and how an individual s reality is shaped via testimony.
Testimony, a declaration or proposition which an individual claims to be true and fact, is key to social
epistemology. With certainty, some individuals claims, beliefs, and opinions are converging, whereas
others are diverging. There are differences between subjective reality, influenced by the
aforementioned factors of influence from objective truths that exist and can be known independent
from the social contexts. However, these two extremes are intimately associated. Reality is a
combination of both subjective and objective beliefs, and is ultimately relative and formed by the
perceptions of the individual . On the other hand, social epistemology, is focused on the social
influences of individual and collective knowledge. Relativism, in this context, relates to thought or
ideas created by individuals. The differences between people s beliefs and ideas are simply relating
subject to subject s reality. The knowledge from this reality is known and determined by the individual
or group s experience . If

Persuasive Essay On Having A Child
Growing up having kids is something that you simply assume would happen. It was never even a
question you always knew that one day you would be a parent and that having kids seemed like a
natural step in becoming an adult. Your thoughts are to meet someone, get married, and eventually
have children.Sometimes life doesn t work out that way. Many women have trouble conceiving
depending on age and how the body reacts to developing a child. Some people don t have to try to get
pregnant but others aren t so lucky they have to continue to try until your results come out positive, so
to speak. But trying to conceive and failing after many attempts can be overwhelming and frustrating
always trying to stay positive that this time will work. It s important to start the process of finding out
what test s you have to take to know if you re able to have children; and what are options for
infertility.
Many women feel hesitant to discuss their difficulties with conceiving and carrying babies to term,
fearing embarrassment, judgment from others, or simply other people s awkward or inappropriate
responses.10 percent of women (6.1 million) between the ages of 15 44 in the U.S. struggle getting
pregnant according to the (CDC) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
If a woman is having trouble getting pregnant they go to their doctors to find the reason behind it,
their are a number of things that can cause you to not get pregnant. It s a good idea for any women to

Are Babies Born on the United States Soil Be Considered...
A big issue that surrounds the United States today is whether or not babies born on United States soil
are to be considered full fledged citizens or not, regardless of the family s recent migration into the
United States. The children born in the United States to illegal alien mothers are often referred to as
anchor babies . Under current practice, these children are United States citizens at birth, simply
because they were born on United States soil. They are called anchor babies because, as United States
citizens, they become eligible to sponsor their relatives when they turn 21 years of age, thus becoming
the legal United States anchor for an extended immigrant family (Shopper). Thus, the United States
born children of illegal aliens not only represent additional U.S. population growth, but also act as
anchors to eventually pull a large number of extended family members into the country legally;
moreover, a whole industry has built up around the United States system of birthright citizenship,
thousands of pregnant women who are about to deliver come to the United States each year from
countries as far away as South Korea and as near as Mexico so that they can give birth on U.S. soil
(Anchor Babies, NumbersUSA).The original intent of the 14th Amendment was clearly not
considering illegal aliens going around the United States laws. Estimates indicate there may be over
300,000 anchor babies born each year in the United States; overall, causing illegal alien mothers to

Bobby Knight Perseverance
Bobby Knight, who was a respected basketball coach for Indiana University and was the winner of
902 division one college basketball games, once said, The key is not the will to win... Everybody has
that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important. Scientists have discovered that success is not
based on I.Q. but rather inspired by inner strength. This inner strength is called grit. I also have
referred to this inner strength of grit, for myself. My life success, is dependent upon using grit, which
requires perseverance, passion, and not giving up. First, I use perseverance to be successful in sports.
Firstly, in my weights class, perseverance was a valuable trait. For example, I doubled my max for the

Firstly, passion helps me succeed in playing basketball. For example my love for the game has built
my endurance because I used to only be able to play for about two hours per day; now when I get the
chance to, I will play for six to eight hours in a day. Therefore, it is pure passion that I am able to play
a physically demanding activity for such long periods of time. Secondly, passion gets me excited
about certain chess moves. For example, a friend of mine once fell for a trap I had set up in a chess
game, and I yelled Yes really loudly. Therefore, my enthusiasm for the game helped me be successful.
Thirdly, passion causes me to put chess games in front of other things in life. For example, if I am
playing in a chess match up that is really important to me, I will focus on that game more than normal,
instead of other things like getting on Facebook, and other social media websites, and sadly sometimes
even homework gets abandoned at times if I am playing someone with a high rating or just someone
who has beaten me before. Therefore, a friend of mine once had a 1717 rating, which is really good, I
ignored Facebook notifications on my phone that were constantly yearning for my attention. I ended
up winning that game and as of now, that is the highest rated player I have ever beaten. For all of these
reasons, I have used passion to succeed. Third, not giving up is an important attribute to me. Firstly, I
do not give up, even when I make a

Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, And Frederick...
When a group of people get together, with the same wants and needs, they become so motivated that
they will not be stopped by anyone to change what must be changed. Throughout the mid 1800 s, to
the mid 1900 s, black men and women, along with white women, were all struggling to change what
they believed was wrong. While white women and African Americans both struggled to have equality
with white men. Historic leaders like Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Frederick
Douglass, are only three people, but influenced an entire nation to help make a great changes. In
Sojourner Truth s speech, Ain t I a Woman? , Truth speaks out about women s equality. Truth tells her
audience, And ain t I a woman? Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and
gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ain t I a woman? (2). Sojourner Truth is telling
the crowd that men aren t even on the same level as women. During this time period women were
looked at as dainty, and sub men, but Truth explains to the audience that women are definitely equal, if
not greater, than men. Truth proves women are equal to men once again by stating that, ... he says
women can t have as much rights as men, cause Christ wasn t a woman! Where did your Christ come
from?... From God and a woman! (2). Truth uses a great tool here to grab her audience s attention. By
tying religion, a credible topic, to her argument of equality, she practically squashes any doubt in the

The East Facade Of The Louvre
Perrault still relied a lot antiquity rule to do his reference, even if Perrault mentions that he created the
new taste of architectural element for French. He accepted that Vitruvius theory and order still an
important part of his theory. Perrault mentions that, I also contend that whatever innovations I
introduce are intended not so much to correct what is ancient as to return it to its original perfection. I
do this not on my own authority, following only my own insight, but always in reference to some
example taken from ancient works or from reputable writers. The East Facade of the Louvre is hard to
define its style because of Perrault s theory and Le vau s influence. A historian, Blunt, argues that the
facade shows the Baroque and Classical style at the same time. He wrote, The Colonnade has no exact
parallel in French architecture, but it is the first example in this art of the style of Louis XIV. In certain
respects it is Baroque: the scale of the Order, the depth given by the free standing colonnade, the
variety of rhythm due to the coupling of the columns. In other ways it is more strictly classical than
earlier French work: the clear and simple definition of the masses, the straight line of the front (in
contrast to the curves of most of the Italian designs and even Le Vau s first scheme), the severe and
almost unbroken entablatures, and the purity of detail in the Order and the mouldings.

Bordone And Tintoretto Comparison
Painters other than Bordone have also painted the scene in which Christ is with the doctors. Bordone
is clearly influence by one of these paintings while painting his work. It is said that the painting by
Bordone is indebted to a similar depiction of the same subject by Tintoretto (Ilchman, Christ
Disputing in the Temple, in Eye of the Beholder). When we look at Tintoretto s version of the
painting, we can see clear similarities between both his and Bordone s. The immediate similarities
being the use of light, as well as how Bordone chooses to shift the painting to capture the most
interesting moments in the story, rather than show just one snippet of the action presented in the
written work. In Tintoretto s, we cannot see Mary or Joseph in sight, much like the Hofmann we ...

Bordone would have most likely seen this painting before he painted his. This is due to the fact that
both him and Tintoretto are Venetian painters, and both were assistants to Titian, another very famous
Venetian artist (Ilchman). While the perspective offered in Tintoretto s painting is not naturalistic, and
the scale of the many figures is rather skewed, we can still see the influence he had on Bordone. In
Tintoretto s painting it shows the same dramatic scene that Bordone paints. The figures are all in
movement, looking at books, debating with either Christ, or themselves. Which is essentially what
Bordone s painting is demonstrating as well. Tintoretto also depicts Christ on a throne surrounded by
the doctors, which mirrors Bordone s. The only difference from Tintoretto s, is that there are less
people, and Christ is not in the exact center in Bordone s painting. Bordone uses a more realistic
approach to his painting than Tintoretto. Tintoretto chooses to make the figures in the foreground
gigantic, and with large books that don t seem realistic at

US Consumer Culture
While the US consumer culture has many different goods that encapsulate its uniqueness, nothing
quite represents the US than its trash. You are probably asking yourself at this point how a country s
waste can have any importance at all in its consumer culture. Waste is one output every company, no
matter its size, must be concerned with. With the ever present climate problems our society faces,
proper disposal of waste is a necessity. Luckily for companies in the US, they have found a way to
capitalize through strategic marketing and planned obsolescence. Yet, unfortunately for consumers,
they are often taken advantage of without knowledge of the occurrence. The true American view on
consumerism, where products are bought with a short term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are the manufacturers and corporations whose main concern largely is to profit. there are the
environmentalists who want to preserve the community and promote recycling to help diminish the
landfills. Then there are the consumers: some who buy what is cheap, and often created with planned
obsolescence in mind, some who buy with the environment in mind, but do little research to ensure it
is a wholesome company, and then there are those who to extensive research to make sure they are
hurting the environment as little as possible. Consumers have the opportunity to make conscious
decisions to help our environment, but the reality behind products is well hidden and needs to be
brought to higher attention. Waste epitomizes the American consumer culture to continuously buy new
products, and not think about the harm it is causing the environment. Recycling has evolved over time
into a ploy to make consumers spend more money, and is causing more harm to the environment by
increasing the amount of packaging used over product. The growing consumerist culture can be
attributed to the increased greenwashing scheme. Is it morally right for companies to increase their

Ausia Movie Analysis
UNITY is a 2015 documentary movie which explores how mankind can be transformed from the idea
of living by killing into living by loving. It is a unique movie about empathy for all, in other words, all
expressions of life , going beyond all the things that separates us based on country, race, culture,
believes, values, religion, and beyond what we perceive as opposite or different. It sheds light on the
fact that when we feed on our differences, it only leads to war. I chose to watch and write about this
film because of the cosmopolitan ideas it represents and its message of love, tragedy and hope. It
appeals to our greater human understanding and call on us to end violence and war. It uses visuals
from hundreds of short videos and pictures of original events in history from different sources and
generations. Globalization has created some of the biggest threats to global peace, and this film
captures it in a wonderful way to make a positive point. Kwame Anthony Appiah the author of
Cosmopolitanism, in his book also shares this believes as depicted in the movie when he reflected on
what he called the second strand of cosmopolitanism in his introduction; the recognition that human
beings are different and that we can learn from each other s differences . A concept the director of this
film UNITY envisaged for the world. Cosmopolitanism combines a sense of genuine responsibility for
other human beings as human beings with a deeper sense of commitment and accepting that we

India And The International Trade
1.1Background
Since gaining liberalization, India has been active in international trade, and is today one of the major
trading nations in the world. The Indian economy has been highly dependent on external trade;
presently, India s major trading partners were China, United Arab Emirates, United States, Saudi
Arabia Switzerland, Singapore and Germany.
As a shining, modern, and well developing country, India has been actively promoting trade expansion
and enhancement with all the European countries especially with Germany. In view of this, India has
been actively promoting bilateral trade to achieve this target by implementing different strategy. One
of them is by expanding trade relation with the European countries.
Within the European ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To date, the EU is India s largest trading partner, accounting for 20% of Indian trade. However India
accounts for only 1.8% of the EU s trade and attracts only 0.3% of European Foreign Direct
Investment, although still provides India s largest source for India (Bilateral Trade, n.d.).
Trade between the two has more than doubled from 25.6 billion euros ($36.7 billion) in 2000 to 55.6
billion euros in 2007, with further expansion to be seen (Bulls Eye, n.d.). According to a report in
2010, India, at that time, was the eighth largest trading partner of the European Union, behind China
and Russia (India EU Relations, 2012).
Given the fact that India is in the process of facilitating the international trade with all over the world.
European and Asian countries seems to be the potential partners for trade exchange. At the same time,
several companies and organizations have been established in India over the last ten years which have
created more opportunities for both European and Indian companies to run their business in the
region. Furthermore, Germany trading policy also brings a good opportunity to Indian economy and
for the Indian export trading companies. As the trade relations between these two countries are
increasing, it will helpful to the Indian economy and its overall development and growth. India shares
their experiences and also can learn from Germany and become expertise in bilateral trades. Besides
that, trade

Skin Grafts
The main reason that skin grafts are conducted is to prevent infection from growing and spreading
throughout the body. In reality, skin grafts increase the patient s possibility of acquiring an infection.
The procedure takes a large area of skin from one side of the body, and creates another open wound.
As a result of this surgery, the patient has two wound sites, which makes him twice as likely to get an
infection. Moreover, the body is put under a tremendous amount of stress because it is trying to attach
new tissue to the surviving tissue at two completely different sites. This causes the healing process to
progress slowly because two wounds require more energy than one. Traditional skin grafts are also a
disadvantage to burn victims with substantial burns covering the majority of the body. In this situation,
there are limited areas of unburned skin that can be transplanted to the compromised areas.
The most prevalent characteristic associated with skin grafts are gigantic scars that extend over the
length of the wounded area. Scars emerge as a result of the physiologic wound healing process and
may arise following any insult to the deep dermis (Gauglitz, 2014, p. 32). When ... Show more content

There are three stages that must ensue for an open area of skin to heal: inflammation, proliferation,
and remodeling. Inflammation occurs at the wound site after the skin s surface is broken. During this
phase, platelet degranulation and activation of the complement and clotting cascades form a fibrin clot
for hemostasis, which acts as a scaffold for wound repair (Gauglitz, 2014, p. 32). Platelet
degranulation is crucial to healing because this process recruits immune cells to attack pathogens and
new epithelial cells to reconstruct the skin

Shakespeare s The Taming Of The Farew And The Taming Of...
ENGLISH
The Taming of the Shrew , is one of William Shakespeare s most celebrated works in history and is
known to be one of his most comedic pieces of literature. With its lighthearted sense of a late 1500 s
Elizabethan era work, the famous play showed many relevant ideologies of society according to its
particular era in history. Many of Shakespeare s works have been adapted into successful films that
were made to suit the society of a new and different age, for example, his piece The Taming of the
Shrew , has been formed into several films and short films. In my opinion, it just shows that
Shakespeare s writings are still relevant today and forever will be timeless.
The most famous remakes of the of the 1500 s play, were Gil Junger s 1999 adaptation 10 Things I
Hate About You , and Franco Zeffirelli s 1967 version of The Taming of the Shrew . Both films show
elements of similar society ideologies, such as masculinity and femininity which are portrayed
through the main characters; Katherine, Kat, Petruchio and Patrick. Some characters show signs of
severe misogynistic characteristics, for example, as the dominant Petruchio tames the dominant
Katherine until she is submissive. To help corroborate with this is the quote For I am be born to tame

quote proves that he believes Katherine should be like other females and that he wants to control her

The Electronic Communication Privacy Act, 1986
The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986
The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986 was initially n amendment of the Omnibus Crime
Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (Title III) which was also referred to as Wiretap Statute. This was
an act that was intended to stop government illegal access to the private electronic communications.
With the emergence of other means of electronic communication like the internet, there was a growing
tendency of the government agencies to sneak into the information channels of citizens without their
permission. This was due to the fact that the 1968 Act did not cover the electronic mails that were en
route to their final destination. The courts till 2005 declared that this type of communication was not
covered by the 1986 Act. It was until then that the US Court of Appeal reversed the ruling that has
been barring the e mails from being covered under the privacy provision. The above scenario that the
ECPA had to be amended with the argument that all electronic communication has to be temporarily
stored at some given point in time and the argument that there was no any illegality in any interception
before the communication reaches the destination was null and void. The Electronic Communications
Privacy Act (ECPA) therefore gives the clear guidelines to the access, use, interception, disclosure as
well as privacy protection of the electronic communication. This Act covers electronic communication

Milton gives an expanded story of the Devil and his purpose and how he came about. The most
intriguing part of this story is when he tempts humans into eating from the tree of knowledge. This
part is important because of the impact that; this one event has had on our lives whether you believe in
it or not. In the bible this event is what ultimately lays out gender roles and the responsibilities of men
and women to one another. For the sin that Eve has committed and also influenced Adam to do: in
Genesis 3 verse 16, God says to Eve, Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you .

Effects of Outsourcing Jobs to Overseas
Because of outsourcing jobs to overseas many American workers lost their jobs or compelled to work
for much less compensation. This trend leads to the shrinkage of middle class income bracket and the
reduction of the family s standard of living. Besides, due to the elusive future employment status and
the financial problems, many people have to live hand to mouth, and many more have to cut their
expenditures in order to survive this dreadful and unpleasant situation. More importantly, the
reduction in spending money and the deterioration of consumer confidence can hurt the economy
severely and exacerbate the situation.
Reich in his article Why Rich are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer divides the U.S. professions
into three major categories: routine producers, in person servers and symbolic analysts and described
the process and likelihood of outsourcing these professions.
Routine producers such as manufacturers are the ones in the real risk of losing their jobs as a result of
outsourcing since the technological advancements have put them in positions that they have to
compete with millions of routine workers in other nations who are willing to work for a much lower
wage than their counterparts in America. Therefore, the majority of U.S. routine jobs have moved to
the emerging economies. As an example, around late 1970s the famous telecommunication company
AT T had a telephone set assembly line in Shreveport, LA. But, later they found out that routine

Critique Of The Christmas Angel
Fifty seven year old Landon Carter narrates the novel, reflecting on events from 40 years in the past.
In the prologue of this novel, in which the older Landon, living in the same North Carolina town as he
did when he was 17 years old, stands near the Baptist church that figures prominently in the novel and
gets himself in the mindset of his 17 year old self. The story begins in 1958 and is, Landon tells us,
both joyful and sad.
Seventeen year old Landon is a senior at Beaufort High School, which collaborates each year with
Southern Baptist Church on a Christmas play called The Christmas Angel, written by Reverend

Landon reluctantly agrees. The two begin spending time together although Landon does so only out of
obligation but in the course of their conversations, Landon discovers that Jamie s only goal in life is to
get married with a church full of people in attendance, an unlikely occurrence given Jamie s social
status.
The play is a great success, and in a pivotal scene, in which the father is supposed to notice the
ravishing beauty of the angel, Landon is shocked by how beautiful Jamie looks in her white dress; she
is wearing a touch of makeup and has taken her long hair out of a bun and let it fall past her shoulders.
The other students in the school are as surprised by Jamie s appearance as Landon.
Jamie asks Landon to help her collect the bottles and cans she set out in a donation drive to buy
presents for the orphans. Astonished by the paltry donations, Landon empties his own bank account
and adds those funds to the collection without telling anyone what he has

My Internship At The Superdome
Over the first month of my new internship, I had the opportunity to work on new projects and
experience many new things. For instance, my supervisor gave me the responsibility of inventing a
new program for the Superdome. When the idea was presented and approved, I then was in charge of
creating the marketing campaign. The new program was to introduce the idea of having a company
picnic or company outing at the Superdome to large corporations. They would be able to rent out the
entire Dome, 80,000 square feet of field space, as well as a party room and outdoor fields to use for
their employees and employees families. My first mission was to create a flyer for which I could
advertise the new program and event to the corporations. Draft ... Show more content on

For example, yesterday was the start of our Summer camps. Children have the option of paying for
lunch in the morning, $5 a day, or $20 for the week on Mondays. I was writing the names down,
indicating whether they paid for the day or the week. Today, Tuesday, I did the same thing, however, I
noticed it was difficult to find the names of the children who paid for the week because it was not
alphabetized. I also found it difficult to stay organized with people who were paying for the rest of the
week, for just that day, or who were checking in for their stamp. Therefore, when all the commotion
cleared from the lobby, I sat down and figured out a new system to implement tomorrow, for a
smoother, easier way of lunch check in. I also have noticed that the Superdome can be unorganized in
its staffing of coaches. A lot of the coaches are college students and have all different schedules.
Therefore, it is difficult to know who is coming in for what event, and it is even more difficult to
figure out who is coming in, if they are not already in, when the time comes. My plan is to coordinate
a system of staffing to distribute the most effective and organized way of communication and
efficiency. This way, all of the employees can know who and when someone is

Haiti Voodoo Culture
Every religion is different, whether its origin is different or they have different beliefs. Voodoo is the
most common religion of Haiti. Most people misconceive the Voodoo religion as they do not know
much about their beliefs, traditions and holidays. It is a religion most known for their traditional
symbol, Voodoo dolls. Voodoo, a widely practiced religion in Haiti, is one of the most misunderstood
religions that have several traditional symbols, beliefs and rituals. Voodoo is one of the religions of

In this religion, their main worships are God and many Loas. A Loa is a God and a good spirit in the
Voodoo religion. Aside from believing in the many Loas, Voodoo is mainly a monotheist religion.
Voodooists also believe in reincarnation. To them, there is no good or bad place to go after someone
passes away. This is because they believe that they will live another life. A person s life influences
what will happen to them in their next live. For example, if someone has spent their life as a good and
honest person, they will ascend to Loa and have the opportunity and power to shape the world. Where,
if someone lived a misbehaved life, the person would live a new cycle of life and be given every
opportunity to change the outcome of what will happen to them after death. If their angry life repeats
itself, they will be physically or spiritually punished by Loa. Voodoo Loas are to be strictly broken
down into two groups, Rada Loas and Petro Loas. The Rada Loas are considered to be the good Loas
and serve creation, socialization, and life. The Petro Loas are considered to be a group of demons who
are responsible for harmful sorcery. In some cases, Voodooists believe that a Loa could be considered
both Rada and Petro, but they are usually convinced otherwise. A Voodoo Loa is a God in which
Voodooists believe in as well as an important symbol in the

Difference Between The Waterfall And The V Model Essay
In the world of business and project management, there are certain ways in which projects get
completed. Many of these ways are known as models or methodologies. Most of these models stem
from the SDLC, or the Software Development Life Cycle (Tutorials Point). One of these alternative
models is known as the V Model or V Method. The V Model is an SDLC model that is also based on
the Waterfall Model. Both the Waterfall and the V Method are sequential methods, which means every
phase must be completed before moving onto the next step. The main difference between the Waterfall
and the V Model is that the V Model has a testing phase for each development phase. The V Model is
split into two parts; the Verification phases, and the Validation phases (Tutorials Point). The left part of
the V Model is known as the Verification side. The following steps are apart of the Verification phase:
requirement analysis, system design, architectural design, and the module design. The requirement
analysis phase involves the customer in which they explain what is expected in the final product. The
system design phase is where the team members analyze and understand the requirements and a
blueprint is formed. The architectural design phase, also known as high level design, is the designing
of the hardware and software to be implemented. The module design phase, also known as the low
level design, is where the internal design for the system is agreed upon. All these steps have a

Life in South India Can you imagine being born in one culture and learning all of their beliefs, and
then coming to the United States where you had to begin a whole new life with new customs and
traditions different from the ones you had already learned? I cannot possibly imagine how it would
feel to be an outsider learning and trying to comprehend what a new culture does. To understand how
this must feel, I interviewed a man that has been close to me basically my whole life. Interviewing my
pediatrician I have had for the past twenty years really had an impact on me. I had not understood
exactly what consisted of another culture until interviewing, especially his culture in which I never
thought of. Learning and interviewing a different culture helped me see some very important things,
one being how every culture has their own specific characteristics that make up how their culture is
unique, and the other, comparing and contrasting it to our own, American culture. Interviewing a
person that had been so close to me and my family for so long made it that much more interesting
while completeing. I was asked to sit in the office I had always sat in as a little kid and remembering
that I had never had a problem with Dr. Krishna s race before. He was my doctor, my pediatrician, and
my friend in which I always looked forward to seeing no matter what race he was/is. After getting to

Jane Eyre Gender
This purpose of this essay is to examine Charlotte Bronte s analysis of Victorian gender roles found
within Jane Eyre. For most readers, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is much more than an iconic Gothic
novel set within the Victorian Era. In my opinion, it s a story about a young woman who not only
defies gender role, but also the social class in an attempt to live her life; but in her own way. On top of
that, readers began to view Jane as a somewhat unexpected heroine of Bronte s novel, that while
facing innumerable obstacles within a tough social class, becomes something more by the end of the
story. I believe that another purpose for Bronte s novel is to show readers that women like Jane Eyre

United States Government Expansion Essay
In the last century and a half, the United States Government has grown significantly in size, scope,
and influence. There are many contributing factors to this expansion. The quest for civil rights,
presidential programs and how those programs affected domestic policy, and the foreign policies that
were a result of imperialism, nationalism, and the many conflicts that the nation became involved in
were the biggest catalysts attributing to this progressive development in the government. These effects
have shaped the government from the vision of the Founding Fathers into what it is today. The

Memory is fallible and malleable that can be changed and created in order to incorporate new
experience or information. This fabricated or distorted remembering of an event is called a false
memory, however, never occurred in reality. Inaccurate information and erroneously attribution of an
original source of the information causes to recollect entirely false events. The false memory can have
profound implications that people are highly self confident of their memories even though the events
are never existed in their past. The purpose of this research is to explore the effect of the false memory
and the possibilities of its formation. The false memory can be constructed by combining existing

A lot of the time existing memories and knowledge influence memories to make the recollection
entirely false altogether. Especially, inaccurate sources greatly influence on childhood false memory.
The memory psychologist, Elizabeth Loftus, researches about the possibility of inducing the
childhood false memory through the suggestion source. Her lost in the shopping mall study (Loftus,
1997) proves how moldable memory is when people recollect un factual information. She reveals that
suggestion source can lead people to believe that the entire events actually happen to them. Elizabeth
and her colleagues implant the childhood false memory to individuals that they had been lost in a
shopping mall. But, this memory is completely distorted to create new events that actually does not
occur. This implantation of the false memory successfully induces them to recollect the false events
and they describe their experience using more words and even add description in details. Their
memory becomes stronger and more vivid because enough time has passed that original memory has
faded. When they draw the event in their mind, the memory of real event, visiting a mall, becomes
confounded with the suggestion that you were once lost in a mall. The brain may activate images of
mall and those of being lost. The created memory can even be embellished with snippets from actual
events, such as people once seen in a mall. The grains of experienced events or imaged events are
integrated with inferences and other elaborations that go beyond direct

Speech On Steve Jobs Speech
Steve Jobs, one of the cofounders of Apple, delivered a speech to the graduates of Stanford University
at their commencement ceremony. Although Steve Jobs was a college dropout, his speech was more
inspirational than anything. Jobs shared three stories with the graduates. His first story was about
connecting the dots, the next one was about finding love, and the last story was about death. The three
most influential points that I got out of Job s speech, was to never lose faith, trust in something, and
don t waste your time living someone s else life. Steve Jobs told the graduates of Stanford to never
lose faith. This advice stood out to me the most out of everything else. Sometimes when stumbling
blocks come one s way, they tend to give up and lose hope. I felt like Jobs knew my story because it
connected to my life. At the end of my high school career I made my final decision that I wanted to go

student bill and noticed my scholarships and grants were not enough to pay for it. I was torn, and didn

that. So, I prayed about it day in and day out and knew a miracle was going to happen. The next week
I got a call from the Vocational Rehabilitation Center, and they told me they would be able to help

The Theme Of Disillusionment
Disillusionment
Paul and his friends became disillusioned with Kantorek, their school teacher who told them about the
war, and how they should join immediately because they would be respected by women and be better
men. Assuming that they would come back home unaffected by the war, they join patriotically.
However, they began to question their elders and the wisdom they have given them because they said
it was an honor to fight for their country, but it really was a nightmare. They were treated like animals.
Even though this is set in WWI in 1915, disillusionment is something that all people may experience

Notes On Acids And Bases
Topic: Acids and Bases.
Introduction
Acids are chemical agents that, when mixed with water, release hydrogen ions. Acids have a pH of
under 7 on the pH scale.(Williams, 2016) An acid produces a sour taste, like Vinegar, and gives off a
strong smell, that burns the human nose. Acids are often very sticky, and react strongly with metals,
and create a chemical reaction to form H2. (Guch, 2003) A Base is the complete opposite of an Acid,
and describes a substance that is above 7 on the pH scale. Bases have a more higher potential than
Acids to accept Hydrogen Ions. This means that rather than releasing ions, as an Acid would, a Base
accepts the ions.(Morrissey, 2016) Similar to Acids, Bases provide a Bitter taste, like Cocoa Beans, or
Bicarb Soda. Bases, unlike Acids, do not usually give off a distinct smell, but are usually quite
slippery. Bases react with most oils and fats, such as Detergent reacting with human skin, and slowly
breaking down the oils and fats in the skin tissue.(Guch, 2003)
The universal indicator is used for specifying whether a substance is a Base, Neutral, or an Acid along
the pH scale, by measuring the concentration of H3O+ ions in a substance. (N.a, 2016) The pH scale
is a scale that determines whether a substance is an Acid product, or a Basic product. The H in pH
stands for Hydrogen, however, the p is often debated, therefore is thought of as the power of the
hydrogen. (Morrissey, 2016) The pH scales ranges from ranking between 0 (Being more

A Review of the Doctrine of Agency by Necessity
INTRODUCTION: The doctrine of agency by necessity establishes that authority shall be assumed, in
a necessitous situation, by a person who acts in the interest of the principal. The Indian Contract Act
remains silent as to classification of the doctrine under any section, though many debate that it is to be
under the head of Section 189. This is an extremely ambiguous area in the law of agency, as there are
quite a few specific scenarios apart from the quintessential shipmaster , which are debatable as to
assumption of authority. In this paper, the concepts of the conditions prerequisite to the assumption of
authority shall be discussed, and then an analysis of the special situations of ambiguity with reference
to cases shall be addressed. ANALYSIS Normally, the authority conferred to an agent by his principal
stands as the limits, beyond which any action taken by the agent has no legal validity and makes the
agent liable. But if the circumstances are so demanding, such that the interests of the principal are at
stake due to a situation of emergency, the law confers certain extraneous rights on the agent which
empower him to take certain measures, even those extending to changing the legal position of the
principal, so as to protect the principal s interests. Even in such cases, there are some conditions to be
satisfied. These conditions are, (1) it must be impracticable for the agent to communicate with the
principal, (2) the act of the agent must be absolutely

Arguments Over The Earth s Age In The Bible
Arguments over the age of the Earth have sometimes been divisive for people who regard the Bible as
God s word. Even though the Earth s age is never mentioned in the Bible, it is an issue because those
who take a strictly literal view of the early chapters of Genesis can calculate an approximate date for
the creation by adding up the life spans of the people mentioned in the genealogies. Assuming a
strictly literal interpretation of the week of creation, even if some of the generations were left out of
the genealogies, the Earth would be less than ten thousand years old. Radiometric dating techniques
indicate that the Earth is thousands of times older than that approximately four and a half billion years
old. Many Christians accept this and

Essay On Crowd Out
Article Assessment Analyzing Two Peer Reviewed Journal Articles on the Implications of Medicaid
Expansion on Rates of Crowd Out.
The expansion of Medicaid in the United States has often been denounced due to fear of crowd out.
Crowd out studies have been investigated since the 1990s. Data vary from study to study with some
showing no significant evidence of crowd out to some showing up to 50% (Muhlestein, 2013). Crowd
out occurs when people choose to drop their private insurance plan in favor of enrolling in the public
plan. It can also occur if public program members refuse to use private plans available or if an
employer reduces coverage based on public program availability.

The purpose of this was to look at proportions of children who have private insurance within the
Medicaid eligibility threshold.
After conducting the study, researchers found significant differences in crowd out levels between
states with varying eligibility thresholds. Due to the varying levels of crowd out found in the analysis,
researchers also stated that studies of national crowd out rates should be disregarded. It was found that
3% of Medicaid eligible children in families with income 250% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and
6% of those in Medicaid eligible families with income 200% of FPL were found to be subject to
crowd out. It was found that no children in families with income 300% of FPL would be crowded out.
The RD method does not allow an overall crowd out estimate, so it is limited to localized estimates
based on the eligibility threshold. Therefore, it often misses those beyond the eligibility threshold who
are crowded out. However, it allows for steady enrollment analysis long after the expansion occurs.
Evidence of significant crowd out is likely influenced by differing methods of managing the Medicaid
population and policies put in place to prevent crowd out. It was also found that crowd out effects
decrease as the eligibility threshold increases because wealthier families within the range of eligibility
for Medicaid are less likely to switch from private to public

  • 4. Epistemology And The Pursuit Of Knowledge Essay Epistemology has been the spearhead of every academia battle. It is undeniable that theories of knowledge and the pursuit of knowledge have infinite and unknown complexities. Therefore, there must be a common ground that permits separation of these complexities into useful and beneficial terms, theories, and notions. More specifically, this can be accomplished by examining the social character of knowledge and how an individual s reality is shaped via testimony. Testimony, a declaration or proposition which an individual claims to be true and fact, is key to social epistemology. With certainty, some individuals claims, beliefs, and opinions are converging, whereas others are diverging. There are differences between subjective reality, influenced by the aforementioned factors of influence from objective truths that exist and can be known independent from the social contexts. However, these two extremes are intimately associated. Reality is a combination of both subjective and objective beliefs, and is ultimately relative and formed by the perceptions of the individual . On the other hand, social epistemology, is focused on the social influences of individual and collective knowledge. Relativism, in this context, relates to thought or ideas created by individuals. The differences between people s beliefs and ideas are simply relating subject to subject s reality. The knowledge from this reality is known and determined by the individual or group s experience . • 6. Are Babies Born on the United States Soil Be Considered... A big issue that surrounds the United States today is whether or not babies born on United States soil are to be considered full fledged citizens or not, regardless of the family s recent migration into the United States. The children born in the United States to illegal alien mothers are often referred to as anchor babies . Under current practice, these children are United States citizens at birth, simply because they were born on United States soil. They are called anchor babies because, as United States citizens, they become eligible to sponsor their relatives when they turn 21 years of age, thus becoming the legal United States anchor for an extended immigrant family (Shopper). Thus, the United States born children of illegal aliens not only represent additional U.S. population growth, but also act as anchors to eventually pull a large number of extended family members into the country legally; moreover, a whole industry has built up around the United States system of birthright citizenship, thousands of pregnant women who are about to deliver come to the United States each year from countries as far away as South Korea and as near as Mexico so that they can give birth on U.S. soil (Anchor Babies, NumbersUSA).The original intent of the 14th Amendment was clearly not considering illegal aliens going around the United States laws. I do this not on my own authority, following only my own insight, but always in reference to some example taken from ancient works or from reputable writers. The East Facade of the Louvre is hard to define its style because of Perrault s theory and Le vau s influence. A historian, Blunt, argues that the facade shows the Baroque and Classical style at the same time. He wrote, The Colonnade has no exact parallel in French architecture, but it is the first example in this art of the style of Louis XIV. In certain respects it is Baroque: the scale of the Order, the depth given by the free standing colonnade, the variety of rhythm due to the coupling of the columns. In other ways it is more strictly classical than earlier French work: the clear and simple definition of the masses, the straight line of the front (in contrast to the curves of most of the Italian designs and even Le Vau s first scheme), the severe and almost unbroken entablatures, and the purity of detail in the Order and the mouldings. In Tintoretto s painting it shows the same dramatic scene that Bordone paints. The figures are all in movement, looking at books, debating with either Christ, or themselves. Which is essentially what Bordone s painting is demonstrating as well. Tintoretto also depicts Christ on a throne surrounded by the doctors, which mirrors Bordone s. The only difference from Tintoretto s, is that there are less people, and Christ is not in the exact center in Bordone s painting. It is a unique movie about empathy for all, in other words, all expressions of life , going beyond all the things that separates us based on country, race, culture, believes, values, religion, and beyond what we perceive as opposite or different. It sheds light on the fact that when we feed on our differences, it only leads to war. I chose to watch and write about this film because of the cosmopolitan ideas it represents and its message of love, tragedy and hope. It appeals to our greater human understanding and call on us to end violence and war. It uses visuals from hundreds of short videos and pictures of original events in history from different sources and generations. Globalization has created some of the biggest threats to global peace, and this film captures it in a wonderful way to make a positive point. Kwame Anthony Appiah the author of Cosmopolitanism, in his book also shares this believes as depicted in the movie when he reflected on what he called the second strand of cosmopolitanism in his introduction; the recognition that human beings are different and that we can learn from each other s differences . • 14. Skin Grafts The main reason that skin grafts are conducted is to prevent infection from growing and spreading throughout the body. In reality, skin grafts increase the patient s possibility of acquiring an infection. The procedure takes a large area of skin from one side of the body, and creates another open wound. As a result of this surgery, the patient has two wound sites, which makes him twice as likely to get an infection. Moreover, the body is put under a tremendous amount of stress because it is trying to attach new tissue to the surviving tissue at two completely different sites. This causes the healing process to progress slowly because two wounds require more energy than one. Traditional skin grafts are also a disadvantage to burn victims with substantial burns covering the majority of the body. In this situation, there are limited areas of unburned skin that can be transplanted to the compromised areas. The most prevalent characteristic associated with skin grafts are gigantic scars that extend over the length of the wounded area. ENGLISH The Taming of the Shrew , is one of William Shakespeare s most celebrated works in history and is known to be one of his most comedic pieces of literature. With its lighthearted sense of a late 1500 s Elizabethan era work, the famous play showed many relevant ideologies of society according to its particular era in history. Many of Shakespeare s works have been adapted into successful films that were made to suit the society of a new and different age, for example, his piece The Taming of the Shrew , has been formed into several films and short films. In my opinion, it just shows that Shakespeare s writings are still relevant today and forever will be timeless. The most famous remakes of the of the 1500 s play, were Gil Junger s 1999 adaptation 10 Things I Hate About You , and Franco Zeffirelli s 1967 version of The Taming of the Shrew . Both films show elements of similar society ideologies, such as masculinity and femininity which are portrayed through the main characters; Katherine, Kat, Petruchio and Patrick. Some characters show signs of severe misogynistic characteristics, for example, as the dominant Petruchio tames the dominant Katherine until she is submissive. To help corroborate with this is the quote For I am be born to tame you Kate, And bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate. Conformable as other household Kates. The Electronic Communication Privacy Act, 1986 The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986 The Electronic Communication Privacy Act,1986 was initially n amendment of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (Title III) which was also referred to as Wiretap Statute. This was an act that was intended to stop government illegal access to the private electronic communications. With the emergence of other means of electronic communication like the internet, there was a growing tendency of the government agencies to sneak into the information channels of citizens without their permission. This was due to the fact that the 1968 Act did not cover the electronic mails that were en route to their final destination. The courts till 2005 declared that this type of communication was not covered by the 1986 Act. It was until then that the US Court of Appeal reversed the ruling that has been barring the e mails from being covered under the privacy provision. The above scenario that the ECPA had to be amended with the argument that all electronic communication has to be temporarily stored at some given point in time and the argument that there was no any illegality in any interception before the communication reaches the destination was null and void. Besides, due to the elusive future employment status and the financial problems, many people have to live hand to mouth, and many more have to cut their expenditures in order to survive this dreadful and unpleasant situation. Routine producers such as manufacturers are the ones in the real risk of losing their jobs as a result of outsourcing since the technological advancements have put them in positions that they have to compete with millions of routine workers in other nations who are willing to work for a much lower wage than their counterparts in America. Many of these ways are known as models or methodologies. Most of these models stem from the SDLC, or the Software Development Life Cycle (Tutorials Point). One of these alternative models is known as the V Model or V Method. The V Model is an SDLC model that is also based on the Waterfall Model. I cannot possibly imagine how it would feel to be an outsider learning and trying to comprehend what a new culture does. To understand how this must feel, I interviewed a man that has been close to me basically my whole life. Interviewing my pediatrician I have had for the past twenty years really had an impact on me. I had not understood exactly what consisted of another culture until interviewing, especially his culture in which I never thought of. Learning and interviewing a different culture helped me see some very important things, one being how every culture has their own specific characteristics that make up how their culture is unique, and the other, comparing and contrasting it to our own, American culture. Interviewing a person that had been so close to me and my family for so long made it that much more interesting while completeing. I was asked to sit in the office I had always sat in as a little kid and remembering that I had never had a problem with Dr. Krishna s race before. He was my doctor, my pediatrician, and my friend in which I always looked forward to seeing no matter what race he was/is. After getting to interview him though, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Jane Eyre Gender This purpose of this essay is to examine Charlotte Bronte s analysis of Victorian gender roles found within Jane Eyre. For most readers, Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre is much more than an iconic Gothic novel set within the Victorian Era. In my opinion, it s a story about a young woman who not only defies gender role, but also the social class in an attempt to live her life; but in her own way. On top of that, readers began to view Jane as a somewhat unexpected heroine of Bronte s novel, that while facing innumerable obstacles within a tough social class, becomes something more by the end of the story. There are many contributing factors to this expansion. The quest for civil rights, presidential programs and how those programs affected domestic policy, and the foreign policies that were a result of imperialism, nationalism, and the many conflicts that the nation became involved in were the biggest catalysts attributing to this progressive development in the government. These effects have shaped the government from the vision of the Founding Fathers into what it is today. Due to Britain and France running out of men, money, and material, the US had to get involved in World War I. This involvement brought about numerous new policies and activities by the government. The War Industries Board, Food Administration, Railway Board, and the US Shipping Board came to be. Her lost in the shopping mall study (Loftus, 1997) proves how moldable memory is when people recollect un factual information. Although Steve Jobs was a college dropout, his speech was more inspirational than anything. Jobs shared three stories with the graduates. The three most influential points that I got out of Job s speech, was to never lose faith, trust in something, and don t waste your time living someone s else life. Steve Jobs told the graduates of Stanford to never lose faith. This advice stood out to me the most out of everything else. • 34. Notes On Acids And Bases Topic: Acids and Bases. Introduction Acids are chemical agents that, when mixed with water, release hydrogen ions. Acids have a pH of under 7 on the pH scale.(Williams, 2016) An acid produces a sour taste, like Vinegar, and gives off a strong smell, that burns the human nose. Acids are often very sticky, and react strongly with metals, and create a chemical reaction to form H2. (Guch, 2003) A Base is the complete opposite of an Acid, and describes a substance that is above 7 on the pH scale. Bases have a more higher potential than Acids to accept Hydrogen Ions. This means that rather than releasing ions, as an Acid would, a Base accepts the ions.(Morrissey, 2016) Similar to Acids, Bases provide a Bitter taste, like Cocoa Beans, or Bicarb Soda. Bases, unlike Acids, do not usually give off a distinct smell, but are usually quite slippery. Bases react with most oils and fats, such as Detergent reacting with human skin, and slowly breaking down the oils and fats in the skin tissue.(Guch, 2003) The universal indicator is used for specifying whether a substance is a Base, Neutral, or an Acid along the pH scale, by measuring the concentration of H3O+ ions in a substance. (N.a, 2016) The pH scale is a scale that determines whether a substance is an Acid product, or a Basic product. The H in pH stands for Hydrogen, however, the p is often debated, therefore is thought of as the power of the hydrogen. (Morrissey, 2016) The pH scales ranges from ranking between 0 (Being more ... • 36. A Review of the Doctrine of Agency by Necessity INTRODUCTION: The doctrine of agency by necessity establishes that authority shall be assumed, in a necessitous situation, by a person who acts in the interest of the principal. The Indian Contract Act remains silent as to classification of the doctrine under any section, though many debate that it is to be under the head of Section 189. This is an extremely ambiguous area in the law of agency, as there are quite a few specific scenarios apart from the quintessential shipmaster , which are debatable as to assumption of authority. In this paper, the concepts of the conditions prerequisite to the assumption of authority shall be discussed, and then an analysis of the special situations of ambiguity with reference to cases shall be addressed. ANALYSIS Normally, the authority conferred to an agent by his principal stands as the limits, beyond which any action taken by the agent has no legal validity and makes the agent liable. But if the circumstances are so demanding, such that the interests of the principal are at stake due to a situation of emergency, the law confers certain extraneous rights on the agent which empower him to take certain measures, even those extending to changing the legal position of the principal, so as to protect the principal s interests. Even in such cases, there are some conditions to be satisfied. These conditions are, (1) it must be impracticable for the agent to communicate with the principal, (2) the act of the agent must be absolutely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Assuming a strictly literal interpretation of the week of creation, even if some of the generations were left out of the genealogies, the Earth would be less than ten thousand years old. The expansion of Medicaid in the United States has often been denounced due to fear of crowd out. Crowd out studies have been investigated since the 1990s. Data vary from study to study with some showing no significant evidence of crowd out to some showing up to 50% (Muhlestein, 2013). The purpose of this was to look at proportions of children who have private insurance within the Medicaid eligibility threshold. After conducting the study, researchers found significant differences in crowd out levels between states with varying eligibility thresholds. Due to the varying levels of crowd out found in the analysis, researchers also stated that studies of national crowd out rates should be disregarded. It was found that 3% of Medicaid eligible children in families with income 250% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and 6% of those in Medicaid eligible families with income 200% of FPL were found to be subject to crowd out. It was found that no children in families with income 300% of FPL would be crowded out. The RD method does not allow an overall crowd out estimate, so it is limited to localized estimates based on the eligibility threshold. Therefore, it often misses those beyond the eligibility threshold who are crowded out. However, it allows for steady enrollment analysis long after the expansion occurs. Evidence of significant crowd out is likely influenced by differing methods of managing the Medicaid population and policies put in place to prevent crowd out. It was also found that crowd out effects decrease as the eligibility threshold increases because wealthier families within the range of eligibility for Medicaid are less likely to switch from private to public ... The European Union And Nato Have Grand Strategies A profusion of scholarly works and articles lament the fact that the European Union does not develop a grand strategy and militate to confer an enhanced military dimension on the EU. These views imply that the European Union has no grand strategy or has an inadequate one. However widespread, these conclusions do not fit with all existing conceptions regarding grand strategy. In the meantime and interestingly enough, people seem more inclined to accept that NATO has a grand strategy. This observation and its potential implication for the international order inspired and initiated this study. They lead to the two following questions that guided the analysis. Do the European Union and NATO have grand strategies? If yes, what are these grand strategies and what are their possible impacts on the international order? Answering these questions required, first, to understand grand strategy. In chapter 1, the study began by scrutinizing the concept of grand strategy, which has historically been intimately intertwined with the concept of strategy. Rigorous investigations into the nature and history of strategy combined with the application of different lenses to the canon of work of recognized authorities in the field of strategy supported the analysis.
