Loris Malaguzzi was Born in Corregio, Italy in 1920. He lived in a city called Reggioi Emmilia
in Italy, which is recognized worldwide for its approach to education. After years past he then
developed preschool and primary education in Italy after World War2. In 1976, the parents and the
community confirmed their support for the guiding principles of the Reggio Approach to early
childhood education. After his unexpected death, the community of Reggio Emilia carried on,
implemented his dreams, and fulfilled the Reggio mission, which enhanced the potential of all
children. Soon A foundation was named The Reggio mission and was established as the

In the late 1960 s the schools were transferred to the city government for financing and operations.
During the 1980 s Lori s method was known by many educators and especially thanks to the first
exhibit that was opened in Sweden at the Modern Museet in Stockholm. In 2003 the municipality of
Reggio Emilia chose to manage the network and the system of school services and toddler centers
by forming an association. By forming an association, the municipal schools and preschools could
have their own independent programs and activities, they were still supported by the public sector
of the government though.
February 2006, the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre had opened, which was very successful
and very important to the people that helped open the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre. I
believe that Malaguzzi has a different and unique way to think because of the fact that he thought
that children were powerful and full of desire and ability to construct their own knowledge. I also
think that way because if we weren t powerful and able to construct our own knowledge then how
would we have progressed through life and be where we are now. For example Malaguzzi must
have been real powerful in order for him to have had that knowledge and ability to open a new
international Centre and schools throughout the world! He also thought that family and friends are

History And The United States
The history of journalism in the United States has spanned from the first colonist crossing the
Atlantic Ocean to today s mass media. Even before we were a country we had printers and
journalists writing and printing stories for the people. Looking back, we can divide journalism
history into different time periods and see how news reporting developed over time. Some of
these time periods include the Colonial Period which spanned from when the first Pilgrims came
to America in the mid 1600 s till the 1760 s. Other periods include the Revolution period which
picked up from the colonial period till the early 1780 s. The period of Westward Expansion lasted
from the 1800 to the 1830 s, then there was the Civil WarPeriod which spanned from the 1840 s till
the 1860 s. Finally, the Interpretative Period which lasted from 1930 s and continues to today.
Looking back at these time periods we can see what was considered news and what was
newsworthy , the dominate issues of the periods, and how far we have come as a society from
those issues. The Colonial Period was the beginning of not only out country, but also the beginning
of our system of journalism. The colonial period dates back to the first settlers sailing over the
Atlantic in search of religious and political freedom from their oppressors in Europe. The people
during this time had a small definition for what they considered dominate news. In this time period,
most of the colonies had yet to be settled, and news only

Puritan Faith In William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation
William Bradford s writing displays his Puritan faith by including many of their ideals throughout
Of Plymouth Plantation. Bradford s beliefs give his writing a simple and unembellished style, like
that of Puritan dress. Furthermore, He demonstrates his faith by including the Puritan concept of
election. Foremost, Bradford displays his faith by incorporating providence into his writing. For
example, he infers that their trip across the Atlantic ended safely only through God s intervention.
Throughout Of Plymouth Plantation, William Bradford exhibits these aspects of his Puritanfaith and
lifestyle through his simplistic writing style. The plainness of Puritan life and of Bradford s style
exemplifies the effects that his religionhas on his writing. The Puritans removed anything that
might distract them from their life s devotion to God. For instance, they imposed strict dress
codes upon their people, allowing only soft, muted colors, and they did not allow their children to
play with toys. Instead, the children attended school their education was focused primarily on
theology and worked from a young age. These practices compare to Bradford s unornamented
writing: But to omit other things (that I may be brief) after long beating at sea they fell with that

Bradford explains that the healthy Pilgrims cared for the others. They symbolize the few people

Analysis Of The Article Ralph Waldo Emerson

10 September 2015 Aung San Suu Kyi Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American essayist,
philosopher, and poet, most of his philosophy is different from the real world. In the article Self
Reliance , Emerson s view of the non conformist is important for each individual in order for them
to be independent and follow their own thoughts. Each individual should believe in themselves,
value their own experience, and share with society. Based on Emerson s belief, Aung San Suu Kyi
is a non conformist because she is independent, has no fear, and believes what she does is right.
It is important for each individual to value their own self reliance, opinion, experience, believe
in themselves and be brave to do what they think is right. Believing in ourselves is the key to
being successful. Emerson comments, To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true
for you in private heart is true for all men that is genius. (01). Emerson encouraged people to
believe in themselves, no matter what others thought. Each individual s mind has value and
society has no power to control us. We were born to enjoy life, so we have the power to do what
we think is right. Emerson also states, It is easy in the world to live after the world s opinion; it
is easy in solitude to live after our own, but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. (05). People should stand up for

Persuasive Essay On The Voting Age
Imagine a time where teenagers are allowed to vote on important positions or issues that could
possibly define our nation s future. The average teenager may seem responsible, but would they be
able to handle the responsibility of deciding our nation s fate in the world as well as their own. In
the article, Takoma Park 16 year old savors his history making moment at the polls, Annys Shin,
who writes in depth about the historical event as well as shares valued opinions of those who
participated in the making of this event, exclaims that the, Montgomery County community [was]
the nation s first to lower the votingage from 18 to 16. This seems to be a test to determine if the
nation should lower the voting age completely. However, this test shows varying results, but
majority seem to shed some light on the fact that teenagers simply should not take part in voting.
The average teenagers seem too young to be mature about issues, are uninterested in what major
decisions are made by the government, and are simply being used by their parentals for an extra
person support their own beliefs. Although, being a teenager myself I do have a clear understanding
about the momentous moment certian teeangers in the Montgomery County are being offered, but
was it worth the controversy within the government to finally make it happen. A Fred Schultz,
elaborated on the issue that the outcome would not be as rewarding for the amount of time that was
spent to grant this right to the counties teenagers in order to raise the amount of political
participation(Shin). Once the results came trickling in, there seemed to still be an exceedingly low
rate for voter turnouts. Montgomery teenagers were simply granted the right, and proved to the
county there was no point in doing so since there was little participation from their age group. Not
to mention that majority of the sampled teenagers would not take the initiative to register to vote,
and even though the county had registration at the Motor Vehicle Registration there is a point that
not every teeanger is able to drive legally. Thus, that extra step to increase voter registration
amongst teenagers was not beneficial. Giving us the right to vote comes at a cost, and it seems

Michael Kimmel s Impact Of The Media On Men
Impact of the Media on Men When boys are young they are told to toughen up or to stop acting
like a girl when they are sad or want to cry. Michael Kimmel, author of Bros Before Hos : The
Guy Code, discusses how there is a code guys are supposed to follow and how being taught
natural behaviors, such as crying or talking about emotions, are wrong at a young age negatively
impacts boys for their whole life. Emily Smith, the author of Life on the Island, talks about how a
decrease in places that have a feelingof community increases the suiciderate among men. Everyone
tells boys to act a certain way their father, coach, even people they don t know, but this is not the
only place they hear these negative statements. Television and magazine advertisements often depict
men in an unrealistic way that feels unachievable and because of this young boys who view these
ads feel negatively about themselves and because of the guycode they can t share their feelings and
emotions which can lead to depression or even suicide. Almost everyone is exposed to
advertisements when they are children. Ads are everywhere and they make people feel a
certain way towards what they are trying to sell even if the people involved feel unaffected. Ads
are supposed to do this and can make their audience feel happy, but there is a chance that they
will do the opposite. Many ads make men feel like they are not strong or tough enough. A study
done on the effects of media images from magazines on the body and self Esteem said, Men s
Health and GQ both focus primarily on men s bodies and send very overt messages about what
men should look like. Therefore, it may be very easy for men who read these magazines to feel
as though they do not measure up (Hobza, Cody L., et al. 168). Ads in magazines or on tv don t
usually show men crying or talking about their emotions with their friends because that is
something men are not supposed to do; instead ads show them being strong, tough, and emotionally
stable. When guys or advertisements make other guys feel like they are not good enough or strong
enough, they have to deal with it themselves because they don t want to be emasculated by their
friends and family. Some men may feel like there is

Argumentative Essay About Kobe Bryant
As it stands today, Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player to have ever played the game. Some
argue that Michael Jordan was better, but he was not. Some argue that Lebron James is better,
but he is not. To compare him to the men who played the center position is a waste of time.
Obviously Shaquille O Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar were more dominant.
They were freaks of nature. What Kobe had that set him apart from everyone else was a skill set
and mentality that is unmatched. Kobe is the best player first and foremost because he was a
Los Angeles Laker for twenty years. Some may say that my bias towards Kobe as a Laker fan
discredits my argument, but it does not. First, a list of his accomplishments. Kobe was drafted
out of highschool at the age of seventeen, broke into the league by winning the Slam Dunk
contest in his rookie season, and by age of twenty five he was a three time world champion. He
was the youngest person to be named a NBA All Star at the age of nineteen. The combination of
his talents with the talents of Shaquille O Neal was the greatest one two punch of all time. That
is an objective fact. Shaq himself has even admitted that had the duo stayed together after the
2004 season, they most certainly would have gone on to win additional world championships, but
Kobe didn t need Shaq. When it was all said and done, Kobe ended up with five rings to his name
to O Neals four all five with the Lakers I might add. I won t lie, Kobe s days in

In Regards To The Daca And Dapa Programs, President Obama
In regards to the DACA and DAPA programs, President Obama spoke about the U.S being a nation
of immigrants , referencing the country s long history of immigration. In her book, Small
Strangers, historian Melissa R. Klapper maintains that U.S. history is a story of foreign born youth
and children of immigrants. She says: As both real people and symbols, turn of the century
immigrant children played a vital role [in the] unprecedented productivity and economic growth of
their country. Immigrant youth have been uniquely affected by immigrationpolicies in the U.S. An
overview of our country highlights the neglected presence of young immigrants in some of the

Young people actively took part in these wars through forced and voluntary conscription, and fled
in search of safety.
There was a record number of unaccompanied child migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, and El
Salvador apprehended at the U.S. Mexico border the summer of 2014. These young people
hoped to flee from violence, and poverty affecting their countries. This wave of migrants
garnered a lot of attention due to the fact that in the first half of 2014, more than 57,000 children
arrived in the U.S. This was more than twice the number of arrivals as the ones that made it to the
U.S. Mexico border in all of the fiscal year of 2013.
Migrant children over the years have have made up and continue to make up a large portion of the
influxes of people to this country. In spite of this and the and unique problems of immigrant
children, immigration law and procedure is as absent of a child centered structure as our history is.
History and law pay little attention to the immigrant child s voice and future. An unique exception
of this is that many unaccompanied migrant children in the U.S. can gain permanent residency
through a Special Immigrant Juvenile visa. This is the only child centered form of immigration
relief in existence in our country. Created in 1990, SIJ status allows petitioners who have been
abused, neglected, or abandoned to obtain permanent residence. This status is achieved

Symbolism In Roman Fever
Roman Fever, by Edith Wharton, follows two old friends, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley,
accidentally meeting in Rome after many years apart. The two have a long history together and
spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a loud and jealous woman, who
always held a deep rooted resentment for Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two
and self controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs.
Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner
together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the origin of their rivalry. In
their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems
anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who
has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knittingto reveal Mrs. Slade s shallow
attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is
Mrs. Slade who falls apart.
Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women s
conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. They sit outside, talking about their daughters
in the light of the evening or exchanging in a deep silence. It seemed as though, to both, as there
was a relief in laying down their somewhat futile activities in the presence of the vast Memento

Genghis Khan As A Hero
Almost everyone in the world has heard the name Genghis Khan, but how they view his legacy
varies greatly depending on what part of the world they live in. In Europe and the Americas the
name Genghis Khan is synonymous with barbarism, cruelty, murder and destruction, but in much
of Asia he is viewed as a hero, a unifier and a military genius. Even his date of birth is a subject of
some debate. Whatever perspective you choose to take, the one thing that is undeniable, is the fact
that a boy named Temujin, the son of a Mongol chieftain, would change the face of an entire
continent.
Genghis Khan was born sometime between 1155 and 1167 as Temujin Borjigin of the clan Kiyat
(Quezzaire). His father was an important leader in the clan named Yesugei who at the time of
his birth was at war with a neighboring group of nomadic tribes called the Tartars. Temujin was
named after a Tartar chief whom his father had recently slain in a raid (Hartog 13). At the age of
9, Temujin was sent to live with his mother s tribe where where he would choose his future bride.
Upon his return from delivering his son, Yesugei died and Temujin was sent back to his family,
but the tribal leaders denied him his father s position as a tribal leader due to his young age. The
tribe shunned and abandoned Temujin and his family and they were forced to survive on their own.
During their time on their own Temujin and his family survived by hunting and fishing. It was
during this time that the future leader of the

Why Does Rosalind s Use Of Disguise
Role playing in Shakespeare s As You Like It and Measure for Measure is an important aspect
that extends from actors playing a character to that character playing another character as the same
initial character being played. Rosalind, in As You Like It, is a heroin that disguises herself as the
male Ganymede. Duke Vincentio disguises himself as Friar Peter in Measure for Measure. The use
of these main characters in disguise drives the plot forward in ways that keep the audience
entranced and engaged in the element of disguise. Rosalind and Duke Vincentio, in disguise,
create suspense when they are nearly discovered by the wit of other characters or by being foolish
and abusing their disguise. In each play, their main use of disguise is to test... Show more content on

Lucio is the character that came the closest to knowing that the Friar was the Duke in disguise
but the text never tells if he really knew or not. Lucio provoked the Duke without mercy. In act
3, scene 1, Lucio continuously insults the Duke while in conversation with him. He says that
the Duke has used vices such as prostitutes and drink. He claims that he knows and loves and is
well known to the Duke (3.1.387). All the while, the Duke remains in disguise as the Friar but he
does become angry and frustrated with Lucio s false words. Because he is unable to act how he
would if he were in his ruling position, he threatens to report Lucio to the Duke for saying these
slanderous things (3.1.397). In the final act, it is Lucio who discovers that the friar is the Duke by
unveiling him. Whether Lucio is surprised by this discovery is unknown and left, again, to the
interpretation of the director. In these moments when Rosalind s and the Duke s ability to stay in
disguise were being tested, they both felt trapped in their disguise due to their inability to show

To most people English or Language Arts is a creative course and math is just a logical, you get it

just as, or more creative than English. I will demonstrate this through a couple of examples.
First, we must understand what is behind the creative aspect in English. Most people consider that
English is the, creative, subject because of titles such as creative writing and creative thinking and
in contrast there is no creative something in math. In English when we are, let s say, going to write

You can prove that it is creative because a computer can t solve this equation, (a computer thinks
logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they
were equal and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both
sides and if the answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when
you get into trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer
can t work with the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or
a million years to find an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a
computer can only perform things in a certain order it can t guess or have a feeling about a
question, which brings in the creative aspect.
Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most
abstract and creative of the maths. A fellow student and me figured out pie. We figured out that the

fruits, vegetables and meats. Here is an example of a weekly meal prep and how you can

Analysis Of Harvey Norman s Net Profit Margin Essay
In the Table __ and Fig __, you can see how the company has been performing. The overall
profitability of the company has increased. Profitability ratios have increased since 2010. In
particular, Harvey Norman s Gross Profit Margin saw a significant growth, it grew 44.7% since
2010. Operating Profit Margin saw a similar result, finishing with a ratio of 10.5 in Financial Year
2015. Harvey Norman s Net ProfitMargin (when positive), have been at best maximum and are
further illustrative of the paper thin margins typically associated with the retail sector.
Investments of Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) were also substantial,
comparing 2010 and 2015 there was a relative decrease in ROA and ROE which doesn t make
much of a difference if the Gross Profit Margin has a strong game. Thus, on the basis of the
financial results over the last 6 years, shareholders would definitely be confident about investing in
Harvey Norman, unless there is a decline in current asset and equity returns.
Harvey Norman Activity ratios are shown in Table __ and Fig __. The only year when Harvey
Noman had its maximum inventory turnover was in the Financial year 2010. There was not much
of a difference between the Financial Years 2010 and 2015 as the Average Collection Period,
Accounts Receivable Ratio, Fixed Assets Turnover and Total Asset were fluctuating (it increased as
well as decreased simultaneously). This increase in turnover is reflective of both a recent increase

main factors that the deep sea has. There are also a lot of different creatures in the deep sea, that
have different adaptations. Some of those adaptations are not fully known. In the certain layers

A Brief Note On Skin And Skin Contact
Skin to Skin Contact: Final
Newborns are born with physiological challenges. They have physical immaturity that is not able to
function like an adult or child can. When newborns exit their mother s womb, the newborn is
welcomed into this new environment. The new environment can be unsafe, frightening, and cold
for them. The transition from fetal to newborn life can be full of instability. Skin to Skin Contact
(SSC) is placing the newborn on their mother s bare chest covered with a blanket. SSC warms a
cool newborn naturally and maintains optimal temperature. The use of thermometer measures the
newborn s temperature taken at the axillary site. Implementing SSC is cost efficient and offers
many benefits. In order for SSC to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Low body temperature is also called hypothermia. After the first few minutes of the newborn s
birth, body temperature decreases by a few degrees. Newborn s fall of temperature occurs
immediately so appropriate measures must be taken immediately to prevent heat loss. The
temperature of the environment will greatly affect the fall of the newborn s temperature. If proper
measures are not provided during the first 24 hours, heat loss will continue to occur that will place
the newborn at risk for developing hypothermia.
Rationale
Many studies showed that SSC possesses many benefits to both mother and newborn. The studies
were conducted in post delivery setting and showed many benefits over the past several years.
Some of these benefits include thermoregulation, increased infant stability, increased infant mother
bonding, improved breastfeeding and more (Moore, Anderson, Bergman, Dowswell, 2012). SSC
will produce a natural way of maintaining body homeostasis. When babies are born, their
physiological function is not ready for their new environment due to physical immaturity; they are
not able to maintain temperature regulation and are at risk for hypothermia. The World Health
Organization (WHO) has a couple recommendations pertaining to SSC. The first recommendation
is placing all healthy newborns in SSC with their mothers to maintain temperature and breastfeeding
in the first hour of their lives (Guidelines on

Definition Essay About Moving To America
The definition of an American is hard to explain. Some believe it is only about being born in
North America, others believe it is about where your ancestors came from. The real definition of
an American is someone who is free. Free to choose any occupation they want to do, free to get a
good education, and free to speak or act for what they believe in.
One of the many reasons immigrants have moved to America is because of the large amount of
job opportunities available to anyone looking for work. Which explains why America is called

humans to have these freedoms, not just Americans.
Though the freedom of speech, and the opportunities for education and jobs do define the freedom

Heaven
Traveling through humanity is a never ending story. Traveling through ethnicity is an ever
changing journey. Is race or culture a matter of color? Is it a way of life; or a decision an individual
makes? Is it an idea one has of themselves? In the novels, Bless Me Ultima (Anaya 1972) and The
Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven(Alexie 1993), two different minority characters, Tony
and Victor, give voice to their journey of growing up and finding their place in the world in regards

different culture, as he enters school; there he meets the white dominant culture head on. Tony,
now blends a third culture into his life. Tony s heritage offers him two ways of being a Spanish
Mexican American; in Alexie s novel, Victor strives to be an Indian, period. Victor s culture,
being different from Tony s, breeds different cultural problems. Victor, a Native American
Indian, in Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, searches daily for
ways to survive being Indian. Victor lives in a white world that continually divests him of the
privilege of his heritage daily. The ordinary daily erosion damages Victor and the Native
American the most. Alexie writes, . . . it s almost like Indians can easily survive the big stuff.

1.1Summarise the development of the UK popular music recording industry from the 1950 s to the
present day.
50 s
The 1950 s represent the beginning of the development of the music industry, as it is known
today. It is from here on that the genre of popular music existed and began to dominate the charts.
Of course, there were acts that existed before the 50 s, and made a good name for them selves,
acts like Bing Crosby, but it was in the 50 s that certain artists became household names, and idols
to the masses.
The first, and most iconic of these artistes, is of course, Elvis Presley. After making a name for him
self in the states, Elvis music then began to cross the border into other countries, and continents.

Playing the guitar in ways never seen before, Clapton was hailed as a god, and the genre of blues
was re instated into the music industry. Clapton then went on to form the first super group . In
1966, Cream were formed, and by combining Clapton s bluesy styles with the more rocky style
of Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, Cream created a new genre of blues rock. Zepplin could also be
credited for pioneering this genre. It was this genre that got Cream and Zeppelin noticed in the US.
In 1964, Top of the Pops was born. Like previous music shows, it was a showcase of musical
talent. The show went down brilliantly in the UK, with mass numbers watching the show each
week to catch a glimpse of their idols. All the current acts at the time were called to play on the
show, and it was great publicity for each act. Top of the Pops continued for many decades. Also in
64, new musical technologies were developed and brought to the mainstream market, such things as
organs. This allowed acts to create new sounds push the boundaries of popular music even further.
Into the 2nd half of the decade came the arrival of The Rolling Stones and The Who. These
continued along the Blues Rock path pioneered by Cream and Zeppelin, and both had great
success. It was these acts that led to the nickname, the swinging 60 s . 1966 saw the beginning of
psychedelic music. It was The Beatles who first began to experiment like this. Adding new

Robots Will Be The Biggest Job
Robotic Technology is the most beneficial means to the future of industries because they will
create more jobs. John Tammy states Robots will ultimately be the biggest job creators simply
because aggressive automation will free us up to do new work by virtue of it erasing toil that
was once essential ( why Robots Will Be The Biggest Job Creators In World History par.3). This
quote shows that robots will be the biggest reason why lots of people have jobs because. Robots
will create a lot of jobs for employees that will free them from doing hard labor. When labor is
hard and it can cause employees to be exhausted which results from them to slow down
production which is bad the company. Without robots, employees are stuck with doing hard and
even time consuming labor which can slow down production. Industrial robots can help a lot of
companies make labor less harsh. Bill Lydon states Automation has allowed us to compete on a
global basis and it has created jobs in Southwest Michigan. If it had not been for automation we
would not have beaten our Japanese, Chinese, and Mexican competitors ( IFR press release 1).
This quote shows that robots not only help companies create more employment, they can also help
companies beat competitors. Which are very beneficial to them because it can help companies build
a good reputation because of the quality and popularity of their products. Without robots to help
companies beat their competitors, they could be beaten by them and

Riordan s impressive growth has resulted from a combination of new expansion, partnerships and

research plans will greatly facilitate my ability to accomplish the specific aims. To monitor the
progress and project quality, I will conduct meetings with Prof. Battaglia on a bi weekly basis,
write monthly reports that can be incorporated into peer reviewed publications, and present my
research outcomes at lab group meetings on a quarterly term. This way I can keep on a self
consistent project monitoring process and receive essential feedback from Prof. Battaglia and my

A Decrease in Unemployment Rates
Recently, many businesses are cutting jobs and not hiring new staff in the face of higher energy
and fuel prices along with a decrease in demand with retail sales for June 2013, as people have
lower business confidence, means that they have less disposable income. This demand deficient
was a main part of the cyclical unemployment problems experienced before this decade. (William
Schomberg and Christine Murray 2013)
The sudden decrease in the value of property and the demand for it due to credit crunch has seen a
significant number of construction companies and buildings create many unemployed people.
Employer confidence has decreased to its lowest level for 12 years. In other words, many
businesses may not hire new staff. (William Schomberg and Christine Murray 2013)
With the rise of 12,000 newly unemployed people in the recent quarter, the government has seen the
end of unemployment falls. This seems to continue into the near future, with no relief yet prominent
in the issues of less demand and decreased consumer spending. Further, more people are continuing
to lose their jobs and this will only cause the reduction in spending power of families, decrease
money in the economy and increase in reliance upon the state. (William Schomberg and Christine
Murray 2013)
Evaluation

the past decade. However, there have been large changes observed in the nature of unemployment

Gondwana
Gondwana, the southern half of the ancient supercontinent Pangea and a supercontinent in its own
right, was composed of the continents and landmasses that we now call Antarctica, South America,
Africa, Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent. A
supercontinent is a large landmass that is made up of several continents and a subcontinent is a
large distinguishable part of a continent, an example being the part of Asia which contains India,
Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gondwana was first formed between 570 510 Mya (million years ago)
and then combined with another supercontinent, Laurasia, to form Pangea. It then split from
Pangea between 280 200 Mya, with different resources stating different timeframes for this split.
Around 180 165 Mya, Gondwana started to split and the continents started drifting to where they
are today. Back when Gondwana existed, the climateon Earthwas milder than what it is today and
the average temperature was significantly higher than the average temperature on Earth now. As a
result of this climate, much of Gondwana was covered in lush temperate rainforests. The geological

Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Chief Seattle
Mrs. Lyons Frederick Douglass vs. Chief Seattle Frederick Douglas and Chief Seattle both
experienced disadvantages because of their race and culture around the years 1850 1855.
Frederick Douglass was a former slave abolitionist who fought to change America and the
Africans who were enslaved in it. Chief Seattle was the leader of the Suquamish Tribe and he
too was determined to change the citizen s perspective about how his people were being treated.
Both authors wrote compelling letters/speeches to the President to convince him and the
citizens to spark change for their race by using pathos, description, and cause/effect in their
dialogue. Douglass and Seattle use pathos to evoke a certain emotion out of the reader in order
to make them feel the same way as they do. Douglass uses examples to stir emotion. He says,
What am I to argue that it is wrong to make men brutes, to rob them of their liberty, to work them
without wages, to keep them ignorant of their relations to their fellow men, to beat them with
sticks... Douglass continues on with more examples highlighting the injustice to draw an
emotion out of the reader. Chief Seattle uses pathos but in a different way. Instead of pulling
examples from the past, he foreshadows to future problems that could occur. He says, All things
are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Seattle also uses religion.
Our God is the same God. You may think that you own him as you wish to own our land, but you
cannot. When religion is placed in the mix, emotions stir; it becomes more personal to the
reader because they can relate on a certain level. In order to get their points across effectively and
proficiently, Douglass and Seattle used description. Both authors use description to help the
reader form an image in their mind. This tool helps the writer create a connection with the reader
with the use of details. Frederick Douglass describes in detail the wrongs he and his people
experienced through slavery. He says, What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a
day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which
he is the constant victim. It s essential that Douglass uses

Italian Art Research Paper
Art is defined as something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that
expresses important ideas or feelings. (Merriam Webster) Since the beginning of time, art has
been a regular part of life. Art is all around us every day, and sometimes, we don t notice or care
where these paintings, sculptures, or even photographs stemmed from. Since the beginning of
time, art has been a regular part of life. Over time, expressional art was categorized in a wide

mistress. To Myrtle, the perfect life would be to live like Daisy, to be wealthy. Although she
lives in the valley of ashes as the wife of a garage owner, she feels she belongs with the upper
class. She stakes claim in high society through Tom, but will never be fully able to gain access to
their elite world. Fitzgerald shows her attempt to become white through her clothing. When she is
first seen in the novel, she is wearing a spotted dress of dark blue (Fitzgerald, 25).

Jazz Influence On African American Culture
Jazz music was born from the creative hands of black people who experienced oppression and
slavery in America in the late 18th century. Expression of a resistance against the racist and
oppressive political system was manifested in the way of black Americans to play their music.
History has recorded that slavery and racial discrimination in America gave birth precisely to the
music of resistance, such as the Spiritual, gospel and blues. This phenomenon could be interpreted
as a cultural resistance of black people to Westernization, in terms of religion, culture, politics, and
how to make music. It was because before they were brought to America, they have a distinctive
culture of Africa.
In the beginning, the spirit of jazz music or the ideology behind it was the liberation of African
Americans from the shackles of repressive socio political structure as being outlined in the

As a result of the spirit of Jazz that was dialectical, liberal and deconstructive, an old style of
playing music was negated by the ideas of new music. Then, the ideas led into the new styles of
playing music. In this case, the chronology of the development of jazz was divided in three time
periods where each period gave birth to a specific style of playing music.
The first period was traditional jazz period (1890 1940) that gave birth to Ragtime, New
Orleans, Dixieland, New Orleans in Chicago and Kansas City, and Swing. The second one is
modern jazz period (1940 1980) that gave birth to New Orleans and Dixieland Revival, Bebop,
Cool, Hardbop, Free, Mainstream, and Fusion. Meanwhile, the third period was postmodern jazz
period (1980 until now) that gave birth to Neobop, free Funk, Classicism, Neo Classicism, No Wave

Essay on Abuses in the Food Industry
Oppression has always been a concept that humanity has turned its head too. Whether that means a
country is being governed by a dictatorship, an individual race being discriminated against, or
immigrants in a country not being able to find adequate working environment. Even today, big
businesses and individual supervisors are oppressing many people, specifically immigrants in the
lowest jobs available. Books like Fast Food Nation and documentaries like Food Inc. have brought
light to the situation of the grotesque, dangerous, and immoral environment in which many people
are forced to work within the American food system. Situations like the ones discussed in Fast
Food Nation also brings to attention the ethical principles of the labor... Show more content on

If this worker were to slip his/her hand while slicing the carotid artery, there could be very severe
consequences or injuries for the individual worker, or anybody working close by (Schlosser 236).
Workers are required to preform these mind numbing tasks for 8 hours per day. Because there is
little room for mechanical improvement in processing cattle due to their inconsistency in size and
weight, companies are still reliant on physical labor to process the meat (Schlosser 239). This
shows that the methods that are used today have not changed drastically from the methods that
people had to use nearly half a century ago. Within the factories, most of the workforce consists of
illegal immigrants, whom are unable to find jobs anywhere else. The documentary Food Inc.
discusses this problem in a scene looking at working conditions in slaughterhouses. The
documentary articulates that, being a meat packer in the 1950′s was like being an auto
mechanic. It was considered to be a decent job with a decent wage, benefits, and a pension plan.
Now, it is the most dangerous job and employs many immigrants. The documentary shows a scene
where these illegal immigrant workers were recruited by the meat companies, and shuttled in to
work by company owned vans. Because these individuals

Analysis Of The Article The Fox News Network
In late September, the Fox News Network published an article calling into question the
intentions of a West Point cadet after he wore a sombrero to a football game against the
University of Texas at El Paso. In the article, Activist cries foul after West Point fan wears
sombrero at game near Mexican border, author Lucia Suarez Sang comments on the outcry that
ensued from the Hispanic community after a picture of the cadet was posted on the Academy s
Facebook page. Was it inappropriate for the cadet to wear the sombrero? Was the Academy at
fault for posting the photo? Can and should we protect others from feelings and emotions that are
a result of politically incorrect expression? Cultural sensitivity is becoming an increasingly popular
topic in media, on college campuses, and in the military. We now live in a world where the
language we use is under such scrutiny that some are discouraged from expressing their true
opinions for fear of being blackballed by their peers. Not only does political correctness limit free
speech, it also fundamentally transforms the way we think by avoiding the topics that some simply
do not want to discuss. Political correctness is raising serious questions at West Point, impacting
students attending other colleges, and influencing individuals post graduation. Was the cadet
misguided in his decision to wear the sombrero? Had it been a civilian, the answer would be
significantly more straightforward. The First Amendment to the Constitution

Laboratory Analysis And Results Are Vital Part Of...
Undoubtedly, laboratory analysis and results are vital part of diagnosis of many disorders and
diseases these days. According to Peter et al. (2010), an estimated 60% to 80% of patient
management decisions are based on laboratory data. Therefore, accreditation of processes and
competence of pathology laboratories is very significant particularly for benefit of patients. The UK
was, along with Holland, the first European country to introduce a laboratoryaccreditation scheme
for pathology (Barnes, 2014). Organisations, such as the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS),
the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) are
crucial institutions in process of laboratory accreditation in UK. The IBMS is... Show more content

Examples Of Innovative Defense
Innovative defenses (sometimes known as creative lawyering) are relatively new and unique
defenses that go untried for having committed a criminal act. Being untried, innovative defenses
have little to no precedent upon bearing the crime. The four broad categories of defenses to crime
that our legal system recognizes are alibis, justifications, excuses and procedural defenses. Alibis
are the defense by an accused person of having been elsewhere at the time the alleged act or crime
was committed. By providing an alibi someone is demonstrating that they have proof they were
not at the scene of the crime, such as: We have no reason to suspect Tom s alibi since he has
plenty of people that can vouch he was at work at the time of the shooting .... Show more content on

The use of the insanity defense is quite rare, but it is based on the evaluation by a medical health
professional to further determine whether the defendant is actually mentally ill. Sometimes these
defenses can lead to reduced sentences or reduced charges even if the defendant is deemed to be
guilty they would get off with an easier charge due to their supposed mental illness determined by a
medical professional. In my opinion, the insanity defense can be a quite reliable justification in the
pleading of a certain individual, but if the mental condition is not considered to be severe enough,
and the individual still has enough control of themselves to make proper decisions then they should
get the full charge brought against them instead of making an

Elderly Abuse and Neglect in Nursing Homes Essay
Elderly Abuse and Neglect in Nursing Homes
Debra K. Showers
Kaplan University
Elderly Abuse and Neglect in Nursing Homes Are nursing homes abusing and neglecting the
elderly? The elderly are abused and neglected in society today by caregivers in nursing homes.
Elder abuse or neglect is a single or repeated action occurring within any relationship where there
is an overlook of trust which causes injury or distress to an older person. The elderly are our
foundation and our youth are the building blocks to our nation. Some elderly have no medical
problems, some are autistic, and many are handicapped. Nursing homes are a place where the

The method they use is a socio structural analysis through which . What this analysis is that they
reviewed literature on ageism and discussed the intricate concerns on the elderly. They looked at
the theoretical aspects that explain the concerns of the elderly. It is thought if we discuss and
have an understanding of intergenerational perceptions through empirical and optimistic
perceptions then we have a better chance of understanding the concepts of the ageism. Is this a
method you might try? Why or why not? They might have different results, in being dependent
on caregivers for support, and society curbs various freedoms and when we are younger we have
prestige, income employment and management positions. The results of the research is the study
found that the elderly are living longer and by the year 2050 there will be more elders than
youth. As previously indicated, one possible explanation for why older people may have come to
be less valued than in the past is because they do not offer as much value in modernized societies
because they have not kept up the changes because they are used to their old ways. The research
that North and Fiske accomplished showed enough evidence that our elderly are an inconvenienced
youth at this time but not forever. What kind of outcomes supported this conclusion? The
conclusion made by the authors is that society s treatment of ageism should become prime research
topic across multiple social sciences . They also

Emotions in Negotiations
We negotiate every day for different purposes, and each day we experience emotions, both
positive and negative. When negotiating, formally or informally, with family or in the
organizational workplace we often do not know how to handle ourselves, yet alone the emotions
of the other person or group. As educated people, we often try to ignore the influence of emotions
on decision making. Neuroscience evidence now shows that sound and rational decision making
is contingent on prior accurate emotional processing. The basis for this is the somatic marker
hypothesis. The somatic marker hypothesis provides a systems level neuroanatomical and
cognitive framework for decision making, the impact, and influence on it by emotions. The key
idea of this hypothesis is that decision making is a process that is influenced by marker signals
that arise in bio regulatory processes, which includes those that express themselves in emotions
and feelings. This influence can occur at multiple levels of operation, some of which occur
consciously and some of which occur non consciously (Bechara Damasio, 2000). Essentially,
somatic markers are associations of stimuli that induce an associated physiological affective state.
We may feel embarrassed; have muscle contractions, experience a heart rate increase, endocrine
release, posture, and facial expression changes. These are all a result of somatic marker
interpretation. The physiological change occurs in the brain and is relayed to the

An Efficient Implementation Of Finite Impulse Response...
Abstract
With improvements in capacity and performance and a decrease in cost, FPGAs have become a
viable solution for making custom chips and programmable DSP devices. This paper presents an
efficient implementation of Finite Impulse Response Filter (FIR) using Distributed Arithmetic
(DA) architecture based on FPGA with the help of xilinx system generator software. Here, the
multipliers in FIR filter are replaced with multiplierless DA based technique to remove high
frequency Electrocardiogram(EMG) noise from ECG signal. As digital filters plays very
significant role in the analysis of the low frequency components in Electrocardiogram (ECG)
signal. The ECG is susceptible to noise and it is essential to remove the noise in order to support
any decision making for specialist and automatic heart disorder diagnosis systems. We purposed
that the signals under experiment has been added with muscle noise and after applying different
FIR method, the signals according to signal noise ratio (SNR) and MSE(mean square error) are
evaluated. It introduces an effective technique for the denoising of ECG signals corrupted by High
frequency muscles contraction noise. The performances of the system were evaluated using the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology University and Beth Israel Hospital (MIT BIH) database.
Muscle noise is taken from MIT BIH noise stress database .Simulation results shows that High
frequency EMG noise from ECG was removed effectively by using FIR low pass filter.

He lived in a city called Reggioi Emmilia in Italy, which is recognized worldwide for its approach to education. After years past he then developed preschool and primary education in Italy after World War2. In 1976, the parents and the community confirmed their support for the guiding principles of the Reggio Approach to early childhood education. After his unexpected death, the community of Reggio Emilia carried on, implemented his dreams, and fulfilled the Reggio mission, which enhanced the potential of all children. During the 1980 s Lori s method was known by many educators and especially thanks to the first exhibit that was opened in Sweden at the Modern Museet in Stockholm. In 2003 the municipality of Reggio Emilia chose to manage the network and the system of school services and toddler centers by forming an association. By forming an association, the municipal schools and preschools could have their own independent programs and activities, they were still supported by the public sector of the government though. February 2006, the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre had opened, which was very successful and very important to the people that helped open the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre. I believe that Malaguzzi has a different and unique way to think because of the fact that he thought that children were powerful and full of desire and ability to construct their own knowledge. I also think that way because if we weren t powerful and able to construct our own knowledge then how would we have progressed through life and be where we are now. For example Malaguzzi must have been real powerful in order for him to have had that knowledge and ability to open a new international Centre and schools throughout the world! • 3. History And The United States The history of journalism in the United States has spanned from the first colonist crossing the Atlantic Ocean to today s mass media. Even before we were a country we had printers and journalists writing and printing stories for the people. Looking back, we can divide journalism history into different time periods and see how news reporting developed over time. Some of these time periods include the Colonial Period which spanned from when the first Pilgrims came to America in the mid 1600 s till the 1760 s. Other periods include the Revolution period which picked up from the colonial period till the early 1780 s. The period of Westward Expansion lasted from the 1800 to the 1830 s, then there was the Civil WarPeriod which spanned from the 1840 s till the 1860 s. Finally, the Interpretative Period which lasted from 1930 s and continues to today. Looking back at these time periods we can see what was considered news and what was newsworthy , the dominate issues of the periods, and how far we have come as a society from those issues. The Colonial Period was the beginning of not only out country, but also the beginning of our system of journalism. The colonial period dates back to the first settlers sailing over the Atlantic in search of religious and political freedom from their oppressors in Europe. The people during this time had a small definition for what they considered dominate news. In this time period, most of the colonies had yet to be settled, and news only ... • 4. Puritan Faith In William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation William Bradford s writing displays his Puritan faith by including many of their ideals throughout Of Plymouth Plantation. Bradford s beliefs give his writing a simple and unembellished style, like that of Puritan dress. Furthermore, He demonstrates his faith by including the Puritan concept of election. Foremost, Bradford displays his faith by incorporating providence into his writing. For example, he infers that their trip across the Atlantic ended safely only through God s intervention. Throughout Of Plymouth Plantation, William Bradford exhibits these aspects of his Puritanfaith and lifestyle through his simplistic writing style. The plainness of Puritan life and of Bradford s style exemplifies the effects that his religionhas on his writing. The Puritans removed anything that might distract them from their life s devotion to God. For instance, they imposed strict dress codes upon their people, allowing only soft, muted colors, and they did not allow their children to play with toys. Instead, the children attended school their education was focused primarily on theology and worked from a young age. These practices compare to Bradford s unornamented writing: But to omit other things (that I may be brief) after long beating at sea they fell with that land which is called Cape Cod; the which being made... In the article Self Reliance , Emerson s view of the non conformist is important for each individual in order for them to be independent and follow their own thoughts. Each individual should believe in themselves, value their own experience, and share with society. Based on Emerson s belief, Aung San Suu Kyi is a non conformist because she is independent, has no fear, and believes what she does is right. It is important for each individual to value their own self reliance, opinion, experience, believe in themselves and be brave to do what they think is right. Believing in ourselves is the key to being successful. Emerson comments, To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in private heart is true for all men that is genius. (01). Emerson encouraged people to believe in themselves, no matter what others thought. Each individual s mind has value and society has no power to control us. We were born to enjoy life, so we have the power to do what we think is right. Emerson also states, It is easy in the world to live after the world s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own, but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. • 6. Persuasive Essay On The Voting Age Imagine a time where teenagers are allowed to vote on important positions or issues that could possibly define our nation s future. The average teenager may seem responsible, but would they be able to handle the responsibility of deciding our nation s fate in the world as well as their own. In the article, Takoma Park 16 year old savors his history making moment at the polls, Annys Shin, who writes in depth about the historical event as well as shares valued opinions of those who participated in the making of this event, exclaims that the, Montgomery County community [was] the nation s first to lower the votingage from 18 to 16. This seems to be a test to determine if the nation should lower the voting age completely. However, this test shows varying results, but majority seem to shed some light on the fact that teenagers simply should not take part in voting. The average teenagers seem too young to be mature about issues, are uninterested in what major decisions are made by the government, and are simply being used by their parentals for an extra person support their own beliefs. Although, being a teenager myself I do have a clear understanding about the momentous moment certian teeangers in the Montgomery County are being offered, but was it worth the controversy within the government to finally make it happen. A Fred Schultz, elaborated on the issue that the outcome would not be as rewarding for the amount of time that was spent to grant this right to the counties teenagers in order to raise the amount of political participation(Shin). Once the results came trickling in, there seemed to still be an exceedingly low rate for voter turnouts. Montgomery teenagers were simply granted the right, and proved to the county there was no point in doing so since there was little participation from their age group. Not to mention that majority of the sampled teenagers would not take the initiative to register to vote, and even though the county had registration at the Motor Vehicle Registration there is a point that not every teeanger is able to drive legally. Thus, that extra step to increase voter registration amongst teenagers was not beneficial. Giving us the right to vote comes at a cost, and it seems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Michael Kimmel s Impact Of The Media On Men Impact of the Media on Men When boys are young they are told to toughen up or to stop acting like a girl when they are sad or want to cry. Michael Kimmel, author of Bros Before Hos : The Guy Code, discusses how there is a code guys are supposed to follow and how being taught natural behaviors, such as crying or talking about emotions, are wrong at a young age negatively impacts boys for their whole life. Emily Smith, the author of Life on the Island, talks about how a decrease in places that have a feelingof community increases the suiciderate among men. Everyone tells boys to act a certain way their father, coach, even people they don t know, but this is not the only place they hear these negative statements. Television and magazine advertisements often depict men in an unrealistic way that feels unachievable and because of this young boys who view these ads feel negatively about themselves and because of the guycode they can t share their feelings and emotions which can lead to depression or even suicide. Almost everyone is exposed to advertisements when they are children. Ads are everywhere and they make people feel a certain way towards what they are trying to sell even if the people involved feel unaffected. Ads are supposed to do this and can make their audience feel happy, but there is a chance that they will do the opposite. Many ads make men feel like they are not strong or tough enough. A study done on the effects of media images from magazines on the body and self Esteem said, Men s Health and GQ both focus primarily on men s bodies and send very overt messages about what men should look like. Therefore, it may be very easy for men who read these magazines to feel as though they do not measure up (Hobza, Cody L., et al. 168). Ads in magazines or on tv don t usually show men crying or talking about their emotions with their friends because that is something men are not supposed to do; instead ads show them being strong, tough, and emotionally stable. When guys or advertisements make other guys feel like they are not good enough or strong enough, they have to deal with it themselves because they don t want to be emasculated by their friends and family. • 8. Argumentative Essay About Kobe Bryant As it stands today, Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player to have ever played the game. Some argue that Michael Jordan was better, but he was not. Some argue that Lebron James is better, but he is not. To compare him to the men who played the center position is a waste of time. Obviously Shaquille O Neal, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar were more dominant. They were freaks of nature. What Kobe had that set him apart from everyone else was a skill set and mentality that is unmatched. Kobe is the best player first and foremost because he was a Los Angeles Laker for twenty years. Some may say that my bias towards Kobe as a Laker fan discredits my argument, but it does not. First, a list of his accomplishments. Kobe was drafted out of highschool at the age of seventeen, broke into the league by winning the Slam Dunk contest in his rookie season, and by age of twenty five he was a three time world champion. He was the youngest person to be named a NBA All Star at the age of nineteen. The combination of his talents with the talents of Shaquille O Neal was the greatest one two punch of all time. That is an objective fact. Shaq himself has even admitted that had the duo stayed together after the 2004 season, they most certainly would have gone on to win additional world championships, but Kobe didn t need Shaq. When it was all said and done, Kobe ended up with five rings to his name to O Neals four all five with the Lakers I might add. I won t lie, Kobe s days in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Young people actively took part in these wars through forced and voluntary conscription, and fled in search of safety. There was a record number of unaccompanied child migrants from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador apprehended at the U.S. Mexico border the summer of 2014. These young people hoped to flee from violence, and poverty affecting their countries. This wave of migrants garnered a lot of attention due to the fact that in the first half of 2014, more than 57,000 children arrived in the U.S. This was more than twice the number of arrivals as the ones that made it to the U.S. Mexico border in all of the fiscal year of 2013. Migrant children over the years have have made up and continue to make up a large portion of the influxes of people to this country. In spite of this and the and unique problems of immigrant children, immigration law and procedure is as absent of a child centered structure as our history is. History and law pay little attention to the immigrant child s voice and future. An unique exception of this is that many unaccompanied migrant children in the U.S. can gain permanent residency through a Special Immigrant Juvenile visa. • 10. Symbolism In Roman Fever Roman Fever, by Edith Wharton, follows two old friends, Alida Slade and Grace Ansley, accidentally meeting in Rome after many years apart. The two have a long history together and spent their whole lies in contest and conflict. Mrs. Slade is a loud and jealous woman, who always held a deep rooted resentment for Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley is the more reserved of the two and self controlled. The setting of their conversation holds deep significance. Mrs. Ansley and Mrs. Slade both coincidentally are on vacation in Rome, a place of love and beauty. The two eat dinner together on a terrace overlooking Rome. The romantic scenery reflects the origin of their rivalry. In their youth, both women vied for the attention of a young man, Delphin Slade. Mrs. Slade seems anxious to prove her worth over her longtime friend, however, in reality, Mrs. Ansley is the one who has influence over Mrs. Slade. Wharton uses moonlight and knittingto reveal Mrs. Slade s shallow attempts to project and hold power over Mrs. Ansley, but her ultimate failure since in the end it is Mrs. Slade who falls apart. Moonlight serves as a motif, the darker it inches to night, the darker the nature of the women s conversation, and the more panicked Mrs. Slade is. • 11. Genghis Khan As A Hero Almost everyone in the world has heard the name Genghis Khan, but how they view his legacy varies greatly depending on what part of the world they live in. In Europe and the Americas the name Genghis Khan is synonymous with barbarism, cruelty, murder and destruction, but in much of Asia he is viewed as a hero, a unifier and a military genius. Even his date of birth is a subject of some debate. Whatever perspective you choose to take, the one thing that is undeniable, is the fact that a boy named Temujin, the son of a Mongol chieftain, would change the face of an entire continent. Genghis Khan was born sometime between 1155 and 1167 as Temujin Borjigin of the clan Kiyat (Quezzaire). His father was an important leader in the clan named Yesugei who at the time of his birth was at war with a neighboring group of nomadic tribes called the Tartars. Temujin was named after a Tartar chief whom his father had recently slain in a raid (Hartog 13). At the age of 9, Temujin was sent to live with his mother s tribe where where he would choose his future bride. Upon his return from delivering his son, Yesugei died and Temujin was sent back to his family, but the tribal leaders denied him his father s position as a tribal leader due to his young age. The tribe shunned and abandoned Temujin and his family and they were forced to survive on their own. During their time on their own Temujin and his family survived by hunting and fishing. Why Does Rosalind s Use Of Disguise Role playing in Shakespeare s As You Like It and Measure for Measure is an important aspect that extends from actors playing a character to that character playing another character as the same initial character being played. Rosalind, in As You Like It, is a heroin that disguises herself as the male Ganymede. Duke Vincentio disguises himself as Friar Peter in Measure for Measure. The use of these main characters in disguise drives the plot forward in ways that keep the audience entranced and engaged in the element of disguise. My purpose writing this paper is to change your mind. I believe that Math is just as, or more creative than English. I will demonstrate this through a couple of examples. First, we must understand what is behind the creative aspect in English. Most people consider that English is the, creative, subject because of titles such as creative writing and creative thinking and in contrast there is no creative something in math. You can prove that it is creative because a computer can t solve this equation, (a computer thinks logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer can t work with the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform things in a certain order it can t guess or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative aspect. Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most abstract and creative of the maths. A fellow student and me figured out pie. • 20. A Brief Note On Skin And Skin Contact Skin to Skin Contact: Final Newborns are born with physiological challenges. They have physical immaturity that is not able to function like an adult or child can. When newborns exit their mother s womb, the newborn is welcomed into this new environment. The new environment can be unsafe, frightening, and cold for them. The transition from fetal to newborn life can be full of instability. Skin to Skin Contact (SSC) is placing the newborn on their mother s bare chest covered with a blanket. SSC warms a cool newborn naturally and maintains optimal temperature. The use of thermometer measures the newborn s temperature taken at the axillary site. Implementing SSC is cost efficient and offers many benefits. In order for SSC to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Low body temperature is also called hypothermia. After the first few minutes of the newborn s birth, body temperature decreases by a few degrees. Newborn s fall of temperature occurs immediately so appropriate measures must be taken immediately to prevent heat loss. The temperature of the environment will greatly affect the fall of the newborn s temperature. If proper measures are not provided during the first 24 hours, heat loss will continue to occur that will place the newborn at risk for developing hypothermia. Rationale Many studies showed that SSC possesses many benefits to both mother and newborn. The studies were conducted in post delivery setting and showed many benefits over the past several years. Some of these benefits include thermoregulation, increased infant stability, increased infant mother bonding, improved breastfeeding and more (Moore, Anderson, Bergman, Dowswell, 2012). SSC will produce a natural way of maintaining body homeostasis. When babies are born, their physiological function is not ready for their new environment due to physical immaturity; they are not able to maintain temperature regulation and are at risk for hypothermia. The World Health Organization (WHO) has a couple recommendations pertaining to SSC. The first recommendation is placing all healthy newborns in SSC with their mothers to maintain temperature and breastfeeding in the first hour of their lives (Guidelines on ... • 21. Definition Essay About Moving To America The definition of an American is hard to explain. Some believe it is only about being born in North America, others believe it is about where your ancestors came from. The real definition of an American is someone who is free. Free to choose any occupation they want to do, free to get a good education, and free to speak or act for what they believe in. One of the many reasons immigrants have moved to America is because of the large amount of job opportunities available to anyone looking for work. Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Chief Seattle Mrs. Lyons Frederick Douglass vs. Chief Seattle Frederick Douglas and Chief Seattle both experienced disadvantages because of their race and culture around the years 1850 1855. Frederick Douglass was a former slave abolitionist who fought to change America and the Africans who were enslaved in it. Chief Seattle was the leader of the Suquamish Tribe and he too was determined to change the citizen s perspective about how his people were being treated. Both authors wrote compelling letters/speeches to the President to convince him and the citizens to spark change for their race by using pathos, description, and cause/effect in their dialogue. Douglass and Seattle use pathos to evoke a certain emotion out of the reader in order to make them feel the same way as they do. Douglass uses examples to stir emotion. He says, What am I to argue that it is wrong to make men brutes, to rob them of their liberty, to work them without wages, to keep them ignorant of their relations to their fellow men, to beat them with sticks... Douglass continues on with more examples highlighting the injustice to draw an emotion out of the reader. Chief Seattle uses pathos but in a different way. Instead of pulling examples from the past, he foreshadows to future problems that could occur. He says, All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Seattle also uses religion. Our God is the same God. You may think that you own him as you wish to own our land, but you cannot. When religion is placed in the mix, emotions stir; it becomes more personal to the reader because they can relate on a certain level. In order to get their points across effectively and proficiently, Douglass and Seattle used description. Both authors use description to help the reader form an image in their mind. This tool helps the writer create a connection with the reader with the use of details. Frederick Douglass describes in detail the wrongs he and his people experienced through slavery. He says, What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? (Merriam Webster) Since the beginning of time, art has been a regular part of life. Art is all around us every day, and sometimes, we don t notice or care where these paintings, sculptures, or even photographs stemmed from. Since the beginning of time, art has been a regular part of life. Over time, expressional art was categorized in a wide variety of ways, from the Middle Ages, to the more cutting edge and modern distinction. The history of art was initially founded during the Renaissance Era, focusing more on Western Civilization than other regions. Artistic styles have many impacts, however, the most prolific impacts originate from the newly formed religious Orders coming to light in Italy during the 1200s and 1300s. Because of these new religious orders, two notorious art styles merged together to make a necessary change. Dominican and Franciscan styles merge together with the Byzantine art styles to form a completely new format. While Western Christendom fell into the cultural abyss of the barbarian Dark Ages, its religious, secular and artistic values were maintained by its new Eastern capital in Byzantium (later renamed Constantinople after Constantine). Along with the transfer of Imperial authority to Byzantium went thousands of Roman and Greek painters and craftsmen, who proceeded to create a new set of Eastern Christian images and icons, known as Byzantine Art. Fitzgerald is able to captivate readers attentions through his employment of color symbolism. Fitzgerald portrays important messages in the novel by his symbolic use of colors. Colors play an important role in Fitzgerald s descriptions of the lives of Jay Gatsby, Nick Carraway and many of the other characters in the novel. Fitzgerald uses the colors white, yellow, and green to express certain sentiments to the reader, commenting what is going on in the story. While Gatsby attempts to hide his dishonesty, Nick, considers himself one of the few honest people that I have ever known (Fitzgerald, 59) and Fitzgerald often describes him as wearing white. The first time he attends one of Gatsby s infamous parties, he wears a white flannel suit. Nick is aware of the importance of this event, being formally invited to one of Gatsby s parties, and wants to project the right image. His white suit emulates honesty and the appearance of being untainted. Similar to white projecting honesty and purity, Fitzgerald also uses it to symbolize perfection. Daisy, always in white, was perfect in Gatsby s eyes. He lived his life around her, in order to reclaim her. Just as Daisy s whiteness symbolized perfection to Gatsby, the white world of the upper class was the epitome of perfection for Myrtle Wilson, Tom s mistress. To Myrtle, the perfect life would be to live like Daisy, to be wealthy. Although she lives in the valley of ashes as the wife of a garage owner, she feels she belongs with the upper class. She stakes claim in high society through Tom, but will never be fully able to gain access to their elite world. Fitzgerald shows her attempt to become white through her clothing. When she is first seen in the novel, she is wearing a spotted dress of dark blue (Fitzgerald, 25). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Expression of a resistance against the racist and oppressive political system was manifested in the way of black Americans to play their music. History has recorded that slavery and racial discrimination in America gave birth precisely to the music of resistance, such as the Spiritual, gospel and blues. This phenomenon could be interpreted as a cultural resistance of black people to Westernization, in terms of religion, culture, politics, and how to make music. Whether that means a country is being governed by a dictatorship, an individual race being discriminated against, or immigrants in a country not being able to find adequate working environment. Even today, big businesses and individual supervisors are oppressing many people, specifically immigrants in the lowest jobs available. Books like Fast Food Nation and documentaries like Food Inc. have brought light to the situation of the grotesque, dangerous, and immoral environment in which many people are forced to work within the American food system. If this worker were to slip his/her hand while slicing the carotid artery, there could be very severe consequences or injuries for the individual worker, or anybody working close by (Schlosser 236). Workers are required to preform these mind numbing tasks for 8 hours per day. Because there is little room for mechanical improvement in processing cattle due to their inconsistency in size and weight, companies are still reliant on physical labor to process the meat (Schlosser 239). This shows that the methods that are used today have not changed drastically from the methods that people had to use nearly half a century ago. Within the factories, most of the workforce consists of illegal immigrants, whom are unable to find jobs anywhere else. The documentary Food Inc. discusses this problem in a scene looking at working conditions in slaughterhouses. The documentary articulates that, being a meat packer in the 1950′s was like being an auto mechanic. It was considered to be a decent job with a decent wage, benefits, and a pension plan. Now, it is the most dangerous job and employs many immigrants. The documentary shows a scene where these illegal immigrant workers were recruited by the meat companies, and shuttled in to work by company owned vans. Because these individuals ... • 43. Analysis Of The Article The Fox News Network In late September, the Fox News Network published an article calling into question the intentions of a West Point cadet after he wore a sombrero to a football game against the University of Texas at El Paso. In the article, Activist cries foul after West Point fan wears sombrero at game near Mexican border, author Lucia Suarez Sang comments on the outcry that ensued from the Hispanic community after a picture of the cadet was posted on the Academy s Facebook page. Was it inappropriate for the cadet to wear the sombrero? Was the Academy at fault for posting the photo? Can and should we protect others from feelings and emotions that are a result of politically incorrect expression? Cultural sensitivity is becoming an increasingly popular topic in media, on college campuses, and in the military. We now live in a world where the language we use is under such scrutiny that some are discouraged from expressing their true opinions for fear of being blackballed by their peers. Not only does political correctness limit free speech, it also fundamentally transforms the way we think by avoiding the topics that some simply do not want to discuss. Political correctness is raising serious questions at West Point, impacting students attending other colleges, and influencing individuals post graduation. Was the cadet misguided in his decision to wear the sombrero? Had it been a civilian, the answer would be significantly more straightforward. The First Amendment to the Constitution ... According to Peter et al. (2010), an estimated 60% to 80% of patient management decisions are based on laboratory data. Therefore, accreditation of processes and competence of pathology laboratories is very significant particularly for benefit of patients. The UK was, along with Holland, the first European country to introduce a laboratoryaccreditation scheme for pathology (Barnes, 2014). Being untried, innovative defenses have little to no precedent upon bearing the crime. The four broad categories of defenses to crime that our legal system recognizes are alibis, justifications, excuses and procedural defenses. Alibis are the defense by an accused person of having been elsewhere at the time the alleged act or crime was committed. By providing an alibi someone is demonstrating that they have proof they were not at the scene of the crime, such as: We have no reason to suspect Tom s alibi since he has plenty of people that can vouch he was at work at the time of the shooting .... In my opinion, the insanity defense can be a quite reliable justification in the pleading of a certain individual, but if the mental condition is not considered to be severe enough, and the individual still has enough control of themselves to make proper decisions then they should get the full charge brought against them instead of making an ... • 47. Emotions in Negotiations We negotiate every day for different purposes, and each day we experience emotions, both positive and negative. When negotiating, formally or informally, with family or in the organizational workplace we often do not know how to handle ourselves, yet alone the emotions of the other person or group. As educated people, we often try to ignore the influence of emotions on decision making. Neuroscience evidence now shows that sound and rational decision making is contingent on prior accurate emotional processing. The basis for this is the somatic marker hypothesis. The somatic marker hypothesis provides a systems level neuroanatomical and cognitive framework for decision making, the impact, and influence on it by emotions. The key idea of this hypothesis is that decision making is a process that is influenced by marker signals that arise in bio regulatory processes, which includes those that express themselves in emotions and feelings. This influence can occur at multiple levels of operation, some of which occur consciously and some of which occur non consciously (Bechara Damasio, 2000). Essentially, somatic markers are associations of stimuli that induce an associated physiological affective state. We may feel embarrassed; have muscle contractions, experience a heart rate increase, endocrine release, posture, and facial expression changes. These are all a result of somatic marker interpretation. The physiological change occurs in the brain and is relayed to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. An Efficient Implementation Of Finite Impulse Response... Abstract With improvements in capacity and performance and a decrease in cost, FPGAs have become a viable solution for making custom chips and programmable DSP devices. This paper presents an efficient implementation of Finite Impulse Response Filter (FIR) using Distributed Arithmetic (DA) architecture based on FPGA with the help of xilinx system generator software. Here, the multipliers in FIR filter are replaced with multiplierless DA based technique to remove high frequency Electrocardiogram(EMG) noise from ECG signal. As digital filters plays very significant role in the analysis of the low frequency components in Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The ECG is susceptible to noise and it is essential to remove the noise in order to support any decision making for specialist and automatic heart disorder diagnosis systems. We purposed that the signals under experiment has been added with muscle noise and after applying different FIR method, the signals according to signal noise ratio (SNR) and MSE(mean square error) are evaluated. It introduces an effective technique for the denoising of ECG signals corrupted by High frequency muscles contraction noise. The performances of the system were evaluated using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology University and Beth Israel Hospital (MIT BIH) database. Muscle noise is taken from MIT BIH noise stress database .Simulation results shows that High frequency EMG noise from ECG was removed effectively by using FIR low pass filter. ...
