Uranus Experiments
Before being known as a planet Uranus was mistaken for a star. Probably the first time that Uranus
was observed was by Hipparchus of Nicaea. Hipparchus did mistaken Uranus for a star. Hipparchus
may have recorded it as a star for his star catalogue that was later incorporated into Ptolemy s
Almagest (1). William Herschel first observed Uranus on March 13, 1781 from the garden of his
house at 19 New King Street in Bath, Somerset, England. Herschel engaged in a series of observations
on the parallax of the fixed stars. Using a telescope of his own design.
When William first wrote on his journal about the discovery that he made, he said that he had found a
comet. He believed that he had found a comet, but he was also comparing it to a planet. So, William
was wondering if what he found was a comet or if it was a planet. William Herschel wrote to
Astronomer Royal, Nevil Maskelyne saying: I don t know what to call it. It is as likely to be a regular
planet moving in an orbit nearly circular to the sun as a Comet moving in a very eccentric ellipsis. I
have not yet seen any coma or tail to it (2).
Although William continued to say that he had found a comet, other astronomers started to think
otherwise. Other astronomers started to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

new star, which I had the honour of pointing out to them in March 1781, is a Primary Planet of our

and was saying that it was a comet. They chose to look at it, and came to the conclusion that it was a

The Language Of Baklava By Diana Abu-Jaber Analysis
In The Language of Baklava, author, Diana Abu Jaber s writes a memoir exploring her identity. The
excerpt is primarily an anecdote of her journey and with it she associates recipes. The excerpt created
is a memoir describing her up brining as the daughter of an Arab immigrant. Her memoir is primarily
composed of stories from her childhood. The main theme in this specific excerpt is culture and family,
which is being portrayed through the substance of food. Her stories, mostly revolve around, her father
Bub . Abu Jaber s memoir strongly affects her reader s emotions because she uses many forms of
formative language, such as metaphors, imagery, hyperbole and by logos. Abu Jaber beings her
excerpt with vivid imagery recounting a memory from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tittle its self is the first evidence displaying the metaphor of food. The reader knows that baklava
is not a language, however the title is presenting it as a language, giving the reader a clue as to how
she is choosing to tell her story. For a majority of the memoir food is being used as a language
accosting her culture, family and distinct memories. It is evident that food is universal and that using
food as a metaphor will grasp the attention of the reader.Which is seen when she describes her father
[as] a sweet, clueless immigrant practically still a boy (Abu Jaber ).The main purpose of the metaphor
is to simplify a the complexity of the situation. In addition, it is evident that food is a way for Bub to
keep his traditions alive and also to pass them on to his family. For example, the author describes how
their guests [will] be hungry because everyone who comesover is hungry: for home, for family, for the
old smells and touches and tastes (Abu Jaber ). As a result, hunger is used to represent their yarning
for culture aspects which is no longer present in their everyday life. She goes on to describe
immigration to be like a law of nature: Grow up, go to America, which once again relates to her family
traditions and expectations (Abu Jaber ). Moreover, metaphors are being used to demonstrate the need
to remain connected to their roots. The persistent use of food as central theme is also creating feelings

Essay On Navajo Culture
Navajo culture distinctively took hold in the four corners area of the Colorado Plateau around 100
A.D., although they are believed to have been around for centuries before then. Disliking the term
Navajo Indians , they refer to themselves as the Diné which means The People or Children of the Holy
People . The Navajos are traditionally a matriarchal society. Descent and Inheritance were determined
through the mother. In marital separation, woman kept the property and children. If the mother died,
the children were sent to live with their mother s family. Navajo women were at the core of social and
economic control. They were the potters and weavers and owned the land and livestock, which was
passed on to their daughters, who were trained to manage them. The Navajo farmed squash, corn, and
beans. Some other fruits and vegetables in their diet were wild celery, wild onion, wolfberry, wax
currant, juniper berry, and yucca bananas. They raised sheep and goats for meat, wool, and milk. They
also hunted animals such as deer and prairie dogs. Occasionally, edible clay was added to food. This
increased the calcium content. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All living things were considered relatives, containing a spirit or inner form. Navajo people viewed
the earth as a mother, with a family of Holy People and livestock as well as human relatives. A Navajo
s relationship to the land where he or she was born began at birth, through the burial of the umbilical
cord. This ensured that the child would be nurtured by its spiritual mother for the rest of it s life. Such
ceremonial offerings continued as the child grew older. Because of these ties to the land, every Navajo
viewed their home site as sacred. If one was forced to move away from his or her land, he or she
would be denied access to sacred places. If a family were unable to perform ceremonies in their
homeland, they would be unable to protect their ancestors and would lose all family

Marketing Principles Of International Marketing
From this course, I learned plenty of international marketing principles and knew that international
environments are quite different from countries to countries. Each market you enter is different, and
what works in one country or region will not work in another. As technology creates leaps in
communication and transportation, the world continues to feel smaller and smaller. It is not that hard
for companies and consumers to conduct business in almost any country around the world thanks to
advances in international trade, and no doubt, the world is tending to be more international, diverse
and muti cultural in multiple ways. In most factors that influenced international marketing, culture has
a great impact on it. A marketer always has to study about the local culture in depth before offering a
product to them, and I think that well understanding of a country s culture is really essential for
international marketing. First of all, to have an effective communication one must send the message
according to the receiver s culture, customs and learning process. There are some major barriers by
which effective communication can be hampered. For example, companies have to be aware of what
their brand name will be when it is translated in another language. Since sometimes when a company
renames their brand in foreign country, it might totally change meaning of its original meaning. It will
be embarrassing if the new name delivers wrong message that company does not

Undergraduate School Stress
Although undergraduate school may be difficult, there are steps you can take to ease the stress of
undergraduate school. One of the many steps provided by Dr. Strong you can take to ease the stress is
to see the advisor. At the University of Alabama in Huntsville, for the college of science, the advisors
are Morgan Lewis and Jennifer Bradley. Advisors can help with curriculum plans, dropping or adding
a class, priority registration, and grade replacement. In addition to seeing your advisor, you should
also visit your instructor. Your instructor is the only person who can view your grade status and give
you advice on how to improve it. Your professor is also a good source for study advice and homework

What Is The Impact Of The Great Recession On Payout Policy
This paper uses panel data analysis to assess the impact of the great recession on payout policy in the
USA. It uses three multivariate linear and nonlinear regression technics to study the relationship
between the payout variable, pre identified payout determinants and the GR. The following regression
model is considered as used by Denis and Osbov (2008): 〖PV〗_(i,t)=β_(i,0)+β_(i,n) 〖X 〗
_(i,t)+ε_(i,t) (1) 〖X 〗_(i,t) is a vector of explanatory variables and includes all the relevant factors
identified in section 3.2. Table 2 in the appendix provides a summary of these variables, their
measures, empirical evidence and expected sign. 〖PV〗_it is the payout variable analysed as only
dividends, only repurchases, both or total payout. The paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Nonlinear Models The second analysis technique uses a probit and logit models with the payout
variable taking a value of 1 if the sample firm uses the respective payout category in year t, and 0
otherwise. This is used by Fama and French (2001) and DeAngelo et al. (2006) and allows to measure
the marginal propensity for the different payout categories while capturing the behaviour of firms that
omit or initiate payout payments. We estimate a fixed effect logit model where the log likelihood of
the probit model and the random effect logit model do not converge. Using fixed effect logit limits our
work because the analysis considers only the explanatory variables within the subsample of firms that
changed their payout policies during the sample period (Renneboog and Trojanowski, 2005). This
excludes 22.1% of the original sample from the estimation procedure. We also use a multinomial logit
estimation procedure to explain the likelihood that a firm decides on a specific payout category during
the GR because we were unable to apply a multinomial probit estimation as used by Renneboog and
Trajanowski (2011). As such, the independence of irrelevant alternatives (IIA) assumption may be
violated by our outcome categories. We test for this violation using Hausman McFadden test of IIA
assumption. The dependent variable in these models takes four possible

Ad Campaign of an Online University s Bachelor s Degree...
Online University s Bachelor s Degree Program Ad Campaign
At the center of any effective advertising campaign is a very clear definition of who the customer is,
what their needs are, and what expectation they have of service. For an online university bachelor s
degree program this is critically important to the success of any advertising, public relations and
marketing program. The student and their needs to become the center of these strategies if they are to
succeed.
For any student considering one online university bachelor s program over another, their criterion will
include expertise of the facility, ease of using the online tools and what the total experience will be
like. Marketing services based businesses incouding education on the dimensions of student or
customer experience is critical to their success. Services must underscore the role of experiences in
benefitting and increasing the value delivered to customers; just speaking of features or functional
attributes of a service is not sufficient (Palmer, 2010).
The advertising, PR and marketing strategies all must be coordinated around a common message to
prospective students that underscore the online universities competencies and show it is worthy of
trust. Prospective students are evaluating online universities as the foundations for their future and
therefore accreditation, reputation of the school and tis instructors, and value of the degree after
graduation all must be considered. Unifying marketing,

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Essay
Gulliver and the Grotesque
The term scatological means to have an interest or preoccupation with the obscene. In his book,
Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes
concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would
encounter in a cheeky T.V. show but has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary
trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective Swift employs scatology as a means of
satire. This invokes Swift s contemporary politics. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity,
balancing out the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. Realism in literature, refers generally to any
artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary
conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or
tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an
attempt to reflect life as it actually is. Swift uses the daily grotesque and bodily functions to both
connect his audience and provoke disgust in them. By employing a blasé attitude when using this
device, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. He
accomplishes this because the grotesque is simply an exaggeration of reality. Swift also creates the
character of Gulliver, a realist character

Adam And Eve Durer Analysis
1. The 2D engraving of Adam and Eve by Albrecht Durer caught my interest. The engraving illustrates
Adam and Eve in a heavily wooded background surrounded by animals with precise detail. Proportion
is used on the female and male bodies to represent the human body. Both individuals are larger than
the animals to demonstrate that they are closer and the animals in the background are further from the
audience s view. To increase the visually realistic representation both Adam and Eve resemble
sculptures with the use the classical contrapposto in the 2D engraving. This creates a convincing
illusion that their bodies are capable of movement. The dark and light is used to evoke a spooky
appearance within the woods. Michelangelo s 3D marble sculpture of David also peaked my interest.

Michelangelo s passion for human anatomy and his deep knowledge of the male body allowed him to
create a realistic sculpture of a man with pulsing veins. Proportion is used by increasing the size of the
right hand to emphasize the importance of the stone in David s hand. I found the 2D oil on wood
Portrait of Martin Luther by Lucas Cranach the Elder to be the least appealing. The artist s use of
yellows, reds, and browns limits the paintings aesthetic appeal. The proportion in relation to his arms
is too small for his body. His hands seem out of place in this portrait. The 3D marble pieta sculpture of
in the Museo dell Opera del Duomo lacked variety in its color scheme. I disliked this sculpture due to
its dark solid marble color which created a dull scene. The legs and arms of Jesus also pose a
disturbing image. The limbs seem to bend at an unusual angle, not normal of that of a dead individual.
These artworks all correlate to one another because they are within the 16th century

Are Krishna, from the Bhagavad Gita, and Rama, from the Ramayana, really that different from each

The Bhagavad Gita is a story about the conversation between Arjuna and Krishna when Arjuna is
questioning if he should fight in a war. While The Ramayana is about the life of Rama during his exile
and going back to his kingdom. Although these two stories are very different, they do include some
similarities. For example, both stories have characters that are avatars of Vishnu, Krishna and Rama.

reasons why he does not want to fight, Krishna begins to tell him it is his dharma to fight in this war.
He states, Do not become a cowardly eunuch, Son of Pritha; this is not fitting for you. Let go of this
lowly weakness of the heart and stand up, Scorcher of the Enemy! (p16: 3). Krishna is telling Arjuna
being a warrior is what he was born to do and a warrior should never be weak. Krishna also says,
Death is fixed for those who are born, and birth is fixed for those who die; since such an end is certain,
you should not grieve (p23: 27). He is basically telling Arjuna the way of life, so he should not be
worried since this is the cycle of life. Krishna proceeds to tell Arjuna this is his dharma as a warrior.
He suggests, If you will not engage this fight for the sake of dharma, you will have shunned your own
dharma and good name, and shall cause harm (p25: 33). Meaning if Arjuna believes he should not
fight because of what he thinks is his dharma, he will destroy his real dharma of being a warrior and
will cause himself bad karma. Krishna then talks about yoga in action. Krishna says, The person who
has practiced yoga, restraining all these senses, should sit, with me as a pinnacle;... (p32: 61). This

Children with special needs should spend most time with non disabled children Children with special
needs are slightly different from non disabled kids, but they re should not be a barrier between non
disabled children and children with disabilities. Special needs covers a wide range. Some children
with physical disabilities use wheelchair, or cane while other children with learning disabilities such
as, autism, or emotional disorder. Children with special needs are like all children they want to make
friends. Non disability children want respect, love, good education and job of their dream. Children
with special needs can do the same things non disabled kid do, but it can take them longer. It requires
additional explanation or attention. Parents of children with special needs usually feel isolated and
uncertain about their child s future. Schools can help them find support that children are not alone and
help is available. Teachers should meet with parents in order to get to know the children better, the
specific of their children. Special teachers may come into the class to work one on one with the
student, for individualized attention. Change begins with an honest examination of understandings,
knowledge and belief. Children with special needs should spend more time with non disabled kids.

George Orwell s The Aliens-Personal Narrative Fiction
From the initial chaos, fear, and urge to destroy the other had passed, Leinster s narrative shifts gears,
presenting a new way of seeing the alien, through the form of communication. There was one of the
aliens to whom communication became as normal a function as Tommy s own code handlings. The
two of them developed a quite insane friendship, conversing by coder, decoder and short waive trains
(Leinster 268). From the very beginning of the narrative, Leinster stresses that perception and truth
were two separate concepts. At the beginning of the short story, both man and alien saw no other
choice than to destroy the other, and yet they don t. They watch each other, observing their actions,
and eventually understand that the monstrous presence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Unwilling to destroy each other, neither people can figure out a peaceful solution, even with all of
their knowledge and technology. It is not until readers take a closer look at the method of vision that
each people uses that the solution becomes clear. Where humans are adapted to high levels of light,
the aliens are extremely sensitive, having adapted to a much lowers level of light. Understanding this,
it is this difference that contributes the improbability that the man and alien would fight over the same
solar systems. We ll get along all right...since they see by infrared, the planets they d want to make use
of wouldn t suit us. There s no reason why we shouldn t get along...they re just like us, (Leinster 279).
Based on each peoples intolerance to the drastically different levels of light each, neither people would
fight over the same solar systems, causing any fear of domination to collapse into hopeful
collaboration. By weaving in several layers of the sense of vision, from the elements of light and dark,
clarity and obscurity, and even the answer to the predicament, Leinster s short story present the value

Economic Evaluation Essay
The change in health profiles of the population and the evolution of medical technology have made
more explicit the gap between what medicine can do and what is economically feasible (Fuchs, 2000).
Resources to satisfy needs are scarce and every society must decide how better to allocate the scarce
resource among the different alternative uses. Economics tries to address the normative question of
which allocation of resources is best for the society. The answer to such question depends crucially on
the objective being pursued. When comparing different alternatives, under the classical assumptions of
competitive markets (the Arrow Debreu economy) and Pareto efficiency, a reallocation is said to be
efficient if no one in the economy is made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the so called Hicks Kaldor criterion, which allows making judgements about policies without
making inter personal comparisons. However, there are two problems with this criterion: marginal
utility of income must be the same across individuals and it may be the case that a movement back to
the original allocation increase welfare, so it would be impossible to define which allocation is better.
Also, the information that would be needed to collect makes the application of this criterion quite
infeasible.
This is the theoretical basis for many cost benefit studies in health care that rely on methods like
contingent valuation to measure benefits from health care interventions. If this is the theoretical basis
for cost benefit analysis, it means the acceptance of Pareto optimality concept and its related
distributional implications. Individual utility is what is being maximised and individuals are assumed
to be the best judges of their own welfare.
Given the limitations of the welfarist approach, some have argued to rely on explicit welfare functions
to aggregate individuals preferences and explicitly address the issues of distribution, but as Arrow
demonstrated, it is impossible to aggregate individual preferences in a coherent way. Working on the
Sen s ideas, it was showed that interpersonal comparisons were the

Juvenile Law Breakers In The Court Of Law Essay

considerations which defends the crimes by youths which states that the crimes are neither committed

Submitting juvenile files into Federal Court sentencing can result to either an extended sentence or

Allowing use of juvenile records in the court of law is not justified and should not be used to judge
adult criminals. Detecting behavioral shifts from juvenile to adult s court system is complicated due to
the following reasons:
i. It is evident that violent behaviors varies over the age distribution (Handler, Joel 1965). Crime rates

Sunni Vs Shiites Essay
Shiites vs Sunnis
Jihaad Barnett
Georgia Military College
Losing a leader can be very chaotic when they retire or pass on. Questions occur about the next leader,
arguments begin, and relationships divide. Islam is a prime example of these events when the founder
of the religion, Muhammad, passed on and left the Muslims without a leader. Thus started the
separation of Islam into the factions the Shiites and Sunnis because of a disagreement of who will
succeed Muhammad as his predecessor.
Before the discussion of the difference of the Shiites and Sunnis and why they split into these groups,
it s important to understand who exactly is Muhammad and why he is so important to Islam. To begin
with, Islam was started by Muhammad when he was visited by the archangel Gabriel, where the

Comparing Perrault And The Grimm Brothers
When it comes to picking authors, who interest me in the field of fairytales I would have to choose
Perrault and the Grimm brothers. Even though one is from the 17th century and the other two are from
the 19th century, they go about telling stories a little differently while also having some similarities in
the tales they tell. Both have morals for each tale. Some are weaker than others while others are also
stronger than others as well. The fairy tale I would be writing about would be little red riding hood.
The little red riding hood that I remember reading about when I was little was saved by a woodsman.

differently.

way to teach adults and kids the same morals. In Perrault s tales, he clearly states the characteristics a
woman needs are to be beautiful, polite, graceful, industrious, and properly groomed while also
knowing how to control herself always (Zipes, 40). So basically, just waiting for the right man to

Isolation in The Scarlet Letter
There has been a constant dispute over whether people should be governed by determinism or free
will. Determinism is the idea that our actions and fate are predetermined and every occurrence can be
explained or has a reason for happening; free will, in contrast, is the idea that we have the ability to act
independently of external restraints. In the 17th century, Puritan society arose in New England as one
that was governed by its religious views, and thus was a deterministic one. Nathaniel Hawthorne
illustrates this in his novel The Scarlet Letter, in which the characters Hester, Dimmesdale, Pearl, and
Chillingworth are alienated by society. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making the scarlet letter symbolize sin and having the community shun her for it, Hawthorne is
illustrating how constraining the Puritans are, since they judge people solely on their sins or lack
thereof.
Puritan society is also portrayed in a negative light when observing its effects on Dimmesdale. Arthur
Dimmesdale is praised by many in his community as a holy figure and thus a leader, however, he is
just as much a sinner as Hester, since together they committed adultery. The fact that he hides this
secret in order to preserve this false image of himself shows how much he cares about how he is
viewed by society. While many would argue that he does this out of his own free will, there is no
doubt that he feels pressure from society to keep his past hidden and maintain this holy facade. Once
Dimmesdale dies, some townspeople affirm that the Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale, on the very day when
Hester Prynne first wore her ignominious badge, had begun a course of penance ... by inflicting a
hideous torture on himself (Hawthorne 230). When they see the letter branded on Dimmesdale, they
are shown how he has been tortured by himself and by Chillingworth, as a result of the agony society
put him through in hiding his secret of having committed sin. This instance shows how, in a
deterministic society, even those viewed as the

Anatomical Script of the Squat Technique Essay
Introduction
The squat technique is described as the King of all exercises (Bompa, 2002) as it is an effective
exercise that works a variety of muscles including the gluteals, hamstrings, quadriceps and
abdominals. This report focused on the lower limb muscles only. Understanding different types of
movement is important for sport and exercise to help rehabilitate injuries of athletes. Coaches and

The hamstrings contract eccentrically acting as the synergist and help the flexion of the hip to occur.
The Rectus femoris of the quadriceps contract eccentrically to help flex the hip, they are co
contracting with the hamstrings. The hip flexors may contract rapidly to stabalise the body on the way
down if there is a loss of balance (Wynsberghe et al., 1995). The adductor longus, adductor brevis and
adductor Magnus contract isometrically to prevent adduction and abduction. The Sartorius muscle
contracts eccentrically to cause flexion and abduction at the knee. The sartoris originates from the
anterior superior iliac spine and inserts onto the tibia. The adductor and abductor muscles at the hip
joint contract to prevent movement that may cause injury (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009).
Knee
On the downward phase flexion occurs at the knee, stopping at about 90 °. Both quadriceps, acting as
the agonist to flex the knee, and hamstrings, which mainly stabilizes the knee, act as an antagonistic
pair and co contract eccentrically to allow flexion. The hamstring is also acting as the synergist for the
hip joint (Tortora and Derrickson, 2009). The Sartorius acts as the synergist and also contracts
eccentrically to cause flexion at the knee (Wynsberghe et al., 1995).
Ankle
On the downward phase dorsiflexion occurs at the ankle, the tibialis anterior acts as the synergist in
this movement and contracts concentrically (Seeley et al., 2003). The extensor halluces

Pros And Cons Of Artificial Inemination In The Animal...
Artificial insemination (AI) is the manual placement of semen in the reproductive tract of the female
by a method other than natural mating. AI has been used in the majority of domestic species, including
bees, and also in human beings. It is the most commonly used ART in livestock, revolutionizing the
animal breeding industry during the 20th century. AI is by far the most common method of breeding
intensively kept domestic livestock, such as dairy, and turkeys. It is increasing in horses, beef cattle
and sheep, and has been reported in other domestic species such as dogs, goats, deer and buffalo.
There are several advantages and disadvantages of the use of artificial insemination. Some advantages
would be that AI helps prevent the spread of infectious or contagious diseases, that can be passed on
when animals are in close contact or share the same environment. The rate of genetic development and
production gain can be increased, by using semen from males of high genetic merit for superior
females. It enables breeding between animals in different geographic locations, or at different times
(even after the male´s death). Breeding can occur in the event of physical, physiological or behavioral
abnormalities. AI is a powerful tool when linked to other reproductive biotechnologies such as sperm
cryopreservation, sperm sexing. AI can be used in conservation of rare breeds or endangered species.
Also, the cost of maintenance of breeding bull is saved. So disadvantages would be

The Decline of the Medieval Church at the End of the...
Towards the end of the Middle Ages and into the duration of the Renaissance, the Medieval Church s
social and political power dwindled. Centuries prior the Catholic Church gained a surplus of control,
largely due to the stability it maintained during the chaotic breakdown of the Western Roman Empire .
Yet toward the end of the Middle Ages the Church set in motion factors that would ultimately lead to
its downfall as the definitive figure of authority. However, despite political and social controversy
surrounding the church, the institutions it established cleared a path for a new way of thinking,
shaping society in an enduring way. The devastating effect of the Crusades coupled with the spread of
the Black Plague launched a changing public view of papal authority. This resulted in a more
analytical mindset creating a foothold for the Renaissance and Scientific Revolution . An overtly
secular focus took precedence over religious matters and the moral decay of the Church was called
into question. This obsession of secular control is most clearly exemplified by the Great Schism that
took place from 1378 to 1417 . The Great Schism was the result of the Babylonian Captivity, in which
the papacy was forced to relocate to Avignon . Soon after returning to Rome, conflict arose within the
papacy resulting in three popes fighting for the title. When the Council of Constance unified the
papacy in 1417 with the election of Martin V, the pope s political authority outside of the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Grid Computing
This paper gives an overview about Grid Computing and the various key issues related to that.Today
we are in the Internet world and everyone prefers to get fast access to the Internet. The growth of the
internet with various resources and high speed networks changes the society enormously. We can
improve the speed of the computer using Grid. This paper presents clearly the vision of the grid
computing and the architecture of grid computing. The advantages and the disadvantages of the grid
computing has also been discussed.
1.Introduction
The grid vision is the computational power such as resources, power, data are readily available as
electric power1.Grid allows the user to use these resources efficiently and securely. Grid computing is

The main services provided through utility grids are software and special equipments. For instance,
the applications can be run on one machine and all the users can send their data to be processed to that
machine and receive the result back.Grid Computing will not come in reality unless it provides a core
of services ,reliability and enough usability1.
III. Advantages and Disadvantages
There is no need to have large number of SMP servers. It efficiently uses the idle resources. If there is
any failure in one grid ,the grid environment automatically uses the other resources. Easy to scalable.
Jobs can be executed in parallel and increase the speed of the computation. Grid computing consists of
some disadvantages too. Some applications need to be modified in order to use this application in grid
computing. The applications which are not designed to use an MPI (Message Passing Interface) will
have to revert to an SMP (Symmetric Multi Processing). Grid computing requires an advanced
infrastructure like small servers, fast connections between the servers and the use of quality tools,
software and skilled technicians to manage the grid. This grid computing is also costly and security

People now know the causes of their diseases, the likelihood that their child could get a trait based on
the parents, and so people can get a better sense of who they are. One of the most groundbreaking
discoveries of medical history was the vaccination and eventual eradication of smallpox, thanks to
Edward Jenner. When he noticed that milkmaids exposed to cowpox were immune to smallpox, he
used the pus from a cowpox lesions and inoculated a young boy. The boy soon was sick from cowpox
but recovered quickly. When he was then inoculated with smallpox matter, he never became ill. This
proved that there was a way to save people from the deadly disease of smallpox. This led to a better
understanding of immunology. Other vaccines such as polio, MMR, and influenza wouldn t have been
created as quickly, if at all without Jenner. It is suspected that his interest and curiosity for curing
smallpox was when he was 13 years old as an apprentice to a surgeon; he heard a milkmaid say, I shall
never have smallpox for I have had cowpox. I shall never have an ugly pockmarked face. Although it
was already suspected there was a connection between the two, it wasn t determined until Edward
Jenner created the vaccination. Smallpox has been eradicated from the World since 1980 because of
this. Did you know the first antibiotic, penicillin, also known as the miracle drug was first recognized

The Relations of the United States and the United Nations
The history of the US s relationship with the UN is complex, seeming to vacillate between warm
cooperation and abject disdain as the national interests of the US and the rest of the world, and the
short and long term interests of the US itself, align or oppose each other. The UN was originally the
vision of US president Franklin Roosevelt and the product of US State Department planning and
diplomacy. It was designed to forward the national interests of its strongest members, the P 5, to
reflect and channel the geopolitical power structure rather than twist it into an unnatural and
unsustainable hierarchy of weak nations trying to dominate strong. Because the Charter is ... Show

One of the major areas of reform must be the Security Council, which has deviated from reflecting the
real state of the world and therefore is no longer effectively responsible for the peace and security of
the world. Unless the UN can reform in this and other ways outlined by SG Kofi Annan, it will never
achieve the lofty goals envisioned by the framers of its Charter, the US will finally forsake it because
it will be unable to work in the US s national interest, and it will sink into the obscurity of history.
American Support for a Realist Charter
The US has powered the UN since its beginnings in the wake of WWII. It began as US President
Roosevelt s vision for Four Policemen the US, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and China to maintain
peace in the postwar world. The UN, as Roosevelt saw it, was to unite and channel the strength of
these countries. Based on Roosevelt s vision, the UN was also first laid out in the plans of American
diplomats during WWII, and the negotiations over the Charter took place at two American locations.
The Americans put diplomatic power behind their plans during the two conferences that hashed out
the terms of the treaty framing the UN: the first at Dumbarton Oaks from August to October, 1944,
and the second in San Francisco from April to June, 1945. At Dumbarton Oaks, only the most
important players Russia, China, the US, and Great Britain hashed out the most important parts of the
Charter, but they brought

Methodology:
On visiting various underdeveloped sections of our world class capital city, I got the chance to have a
closer look into the lives of the unwarranted and at times acting as an invisible force the slum
dwellers. Having migrated from various developing regions of India, one can see the promises of
young bright India being obliterated into dark gloomy pieces because of communal politics and
corruption. It gave me deeper insights into the colossal failing of the central, state and municipal
machinery. They have failed in proper execution of laws for the most vulnerable and downtrodden
constituents of the society. On spending time in these un administered, poverty stricken areas of
Sanjay Camp, Janta Camp, Shakoorpur basti and GB road district, where we with the help of the

realistic insight to their sufferings and problems, starting from commodification of their labour to
stigmatized work they are forced to perform due their caste and social class. We conducted detailed
interviews of inhabitants of every age, keeping the main focus on pregnant and lactating women (and
their children below the age of 6 years), who clearly are the most vulnerable to maltreatment due to
frustration of the men in failing to provide enough for them poor execution of policies formulated by

A Doll House Sacrifice Essay
In the play, A Dollhouse, Henrik Ibsen uses sacrifice as means for illuminating the characters values
and the work as a whole. He utilizes Nora s sacrifice in order to uncover the humanitarian message
that is in the play. Nora s crime of forging her father s signature to borrow money and her later crime
of leaving her family reveals the transformation from her highly upheld value of family to individual
value and worth to convey that all people have rights and a voice to be heard. Nora sacrifices her
morals in order to save her husband, Torvald, from illness. She broke the law and forged her father s
signature to borrow money to go South. She has feeling on one hand and belief in authority on the
other and she choses her feelings (Ibsen Notes for, 1776). She is proud of this act or crime because it

key to happiness. In order to reach this, Nora must leave her family and home life. Nora s decision to
leave her comfortable life is not an easy choice because not only was she is leaving behind her family,
but she is also stepping into society s line of fire. Women faced condemnation from society for not

Matav is a well established integrated communications company and has footholds in all the four

the Hungarian environment. Familiarity with the local policies, business and customers makes Matav
even more powerful when it comes to dealing with competition. It could add additional services by
implementing new technologies on the current infrastructure to the current customer base and could

Do Matav s international expansion plans make sense? Why?
Matav was taken over by a European Telecommunications giant. The line was clear. Since the
domestic market was completely overwhelmed by Matav, the only logical place to expand further was
another European company. Matav is already an integrated telecommunications powerhouse. There is
no new market it can create or develop within its own country to sustain development for it. There has
to be competition and scope for expansion by introducing new technology into third world countries.

The Influence Of The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was an event in America earliest rebellion telling Britain that their control over
the Colonists was over. The Sons of Liberty were tired of Great Britain controlled over the port and
trades on tea that they wanted to send Great Britain a message as well as King George III. The events
that took place was a message to Great Britain that we are through listing to you. The Tea Act which
was passed by the British Parliament had a purpose behind it. The purpose behind the Tea Act was to
save the East Indian Company from going bankrupt, but the Tea Act also lowered the payment the
companies had to pay to the British government. That s not all the Tea Act did, it also give the East
Indian Company a huge monopoly over the colonies because now the East Indian Company was able
to sell directly to the colonies. The British believe that the colonies wasn t going to object but they
failed to take into consideration not only the power of the colonial merchants who had been cut out as
middlemen from the sales of tea, but also the colonists would view this act as taxation without
representation . (Thought Co, What Led to the Boston Tea Party). Britain viewed the Tea Act as
something the Colonies wouldn t be upset about, but the colonies saw the Tea act as a one way deal
because the East Indian Company would import their tea into the colonies but it removed the tea that
was entering England from the colonies. The Colonies had to pay huge amount of taxes on the tea

  • 2. Uranus Experiments Before being known as a planet Uranus was mistaken for a star. Probably the first time that Uranus was observed was by Hipparchus of Nicaea. Hipparchus did mistaken Uranus for a star. Hipparchus may have recorded it as a star for his star catalogue that was later incorporated into Ptolemy s Almagest (1). William Herschel first observed Uranus on March 13, 1781 from the garden of his house at 19 New King Street in Bath, Somerset, England. Herschel engaged in a series of observations on the parallax of the fixed stars. Using a telescope of his own design. When William first wrote on his journal about the discovery that he made, he said that he had found a comet. He believed that he had found a comet, but he was also comparing it to a planet. So, William was wondering if what he found was a comet or if it was a planet. William Herschel wrote to Astronomer Royal, Nevil Maskelyne saying: I don t know what to call it. It is as likely to be a regular planet moving in an orbit nearly circular to the sun as a Comet moving in a very eccentric ellipsis. I have not yet seen any coma or tail to it (2). Although William continued to say that he had found a comet, other astronomers started to think otherwise. Other astronomers started to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joseph Banks said: By the observation of the most eminent Astronomers in Europe it appears that the new star, which I had the honour of pointing out to them in March 1781, is a Primary Planet of our Solar System (4). So, because other astronomers chose to take a look at what William Herschel found and was saying that it was a comet. They chose to look at it, and came to the conclusion that it was a planet and not a comet. William Herschel ended up being known as the astronomer that found a new planet in our Solar system all because other astronomers decided to take a look at it and ended up coming to the conclusion that it was a planet and not a ... The reader knows that baklava is not a language, however the title is presenting it as a language, giving the reader a clue as to how she is choosing to tell her story. For a majority of the memoir food is being used as a language accosting her culture, family and distinct memories. It is evident that food is universal and that using food as a metaphor will grasp the attention of the reader.Which is seen when she describes her father [as] a sweet, clueless immigrant practically still a boy (Abu Jaber ).The main purpose of the metaphor is to simplify a the complexity of the situation. In addition, it is evident that food is a way for Bub to keep his traditions alive and also to pass them on to his family. For example, the author describes how their guests [will] be hungry because everyone who comesover is hungry: for home, for family, for the old smells and touches and tastes (Abu Jaber ). As a result, hunger is used to represent their yarning for culture aspects which is no longer present in their everyday life. She goes on to describe immigration to be like a law of nature: Grow up, go to America, which once again relates to her family traditions and expectations (Abu Jaber ). • 4. Essay On Navajo Culture Navajo culture distinctively took hold in the four corners area of the Colorado Plateau around 100 A.D., although they are believed to have been around for centuries before then. Disliking the term Navajo Indians , they refer to themselves as the Diné which means The People or Children of the Holy People . The Navajos are traditionally a matriarchal society. Descent and Inheritance were determined through the mother. In marital separation, woman kept the property and children. If the mother died, the children were sent to live with their mother s family. Navajo women were at the core of social and economic control. • 5. Marketing Principles Of International Marketing From this course, I learned plenty of international marketing principles and knew that international environments are quite different from countries to countries. Each market you enter is different, and what works in one country or region will not work in another. As technology creates leaps in communication and transportation, the world continues to feel smaller and smaller. It is not that hard for companies and consumers to conduct business in almost any country around the world thanks to advances in international trade, and no doubt, the world is tending to be more international, diverse and muti cultural in multiple ways. In most factors that influenced international marketing, culture has a great impact on it. A marketer always has to study about the local culture in depth before offering a product to them, and I think that well understanding of a country s culture is really essential for international marketing. First of all, to have an effective communication one must send the message according to the receiver s culture, customs and learning process. There are some major barriers by which effective communication can be hampered. For example, companies have to be aware of what their brand name will be when it is translated in another language. Since sometimes when a company renames their brand in foreign country, it might totally change meaning of its original meaning. It will be embarrassing if the new name delivers wrong message that company does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It uses three multivariate linear and nonlinear regression technics to study the relationship between the payout variable, pre identified payout determinants and the GR. The following regression model is considered as used by Denis and Osbov (2008): 〖PV〗_(i,t)=β_(i,0)+β_(i,n) 〖X 〗 _(i,t)+ε_(i,t) (1) 〖X 〗_(i,t) is a vector of explanatory variables and includes all the relevant factors identified in section 3.2. Nonlinear Models The second analysis technique uses a probit and logit models with the payout variable taking a value of 1 if the sample firm uses the respective payout category in year t, and 0 otherwise. This is used by Fama and French (2001) and DeAngelo et al. (2006) and allows to measure the marginal propensity for the different payout categories while capturing the behaviour of firms that omit or initiate payout payments. We estimate a fixed effect logit model where the log likelihood of the probit model and the random effect logit model do not converge. Using fixed effect logit limits our work because the analysis considers only the explanatory variables within the subsample of firms that changed their payout policies during the sample period (Renneboog and Trojanowski, 2005). This excludes 22.1% of the original sample from the estimation procedure. We also use a multinomial logit estimation procedure to explain the likelihood that a firm decides on a specific payout category during the GR because we were unable to apply a multinomial probit estimation as used by Renneboog and Trajanowski (2011). As such, the independence of irrelevant alternatives (IIA) assumption may be violated by our outcome categories. We test for this violation using Hausman McFadden test of IIA assumption. Online University s Bachelor s Degree Program Ad Campaign At the center of any effective advertising campaign is a very clear definition of who the customer is, what their needs are, and what expectation they have of service. For an online university bachelor s degree program this is critically important to the success of any advertising, public relations and marketing program. The student and their needs to become the center of these strategies if they are to succeed. For any student considering one online university bachelor s program over another, their criterion will include expertise of the facility, ease of using the online tools and what the total experience will be like. Marketing services based businesses incouding education on the dimensions of student or customer experience is critical to their success. Services must underscore the role of experiences in benefitting and increasing the value delivered to customers; just speaking of features or functional attributes of a service is not sufficient (Palmer, 2010). The advertising, PR and marketing strategies all must be coordinated around a common message to prospective students that underscore the online universities competencies and show it is worthy of trust. • 9. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Essay Gulliver and the Grotesque The term scatological means to have an interest or preoccupation with the obscene. In his book, Gulliver s Travels, it is hard to miss the various references that its author, Johnathan Swift, makes concerning bodily functions. Yet, this is more than the bawdy, juvenile toilet humor one would encounter in a cheeky T.V. show but has a literary purpose. Scatology is used to define the literary trope of the grotesque body. Through the realist perspective Swift employs scatology as a means of satire. This invokes Swift s contemporary politics. He uses it to draw attention to Gulliver s humanity, balancing out the strangeness of the lands Gulliver visits. Realism in literature, refers generally to any artistic or literary portrayal of life in a faithful, accurate manner, unclouded by false ideals, literary conventions, or misplaced aesthetic glorification and beautification of the world. It is a theory or tendency in writing to depict events in human life in a matter of fact, straightforward manner. It is an attempt to reflect life as it actually is. Swift uses the daily grotesque and bodily functions to both connect his audience and provoke disgust in them. By employing a blasé attitude when using this device, Swift manages to create a novel that has both realist aesthetic and the fantastical grotesque. He accomplishes this because the grotesque is simply an exaggeration of reality. Swift also creates the character of Gulliver, a realist character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The engraving illustrates Adam and Eve in a heavily wooded background surrounded by animals with precise detail. Proportion is used on the female and male bodies to represent the human body. Both individuals are larger than the animals to demonstrate that they are closer and the animals in the background are further from the audience s view. To increase the visually realistic representation both Adam and Eve resemble sculptures with the use the classical contrapposto in the 2D engraving. This creates a convincing illusion that their bodies are capable of movement. The dark and light is used to evoke a spooky appearance within the woods. The proportion in relation to his arms is too small for his body. His hands seem out of place in this portrait. The 3D marble pieta sculpture of in the Museo dell Opera del Duomo lacked variety in its color scheme. I disliked this sculpture due to its dark solid marble color which created a dull scene. Economic Evaluation Essay The change in health profiles of the population and the evolution of medical technology have made more explicit the gap between what medicine can do and what is economically feasible (Fuchs, 2000). Resources to satisfy needs are scarce and every society must decide how better to allocate the scarce resource among the different alternative uses. Economics tries to address the normative question of which allocation of resources is best for the society. The answer to such question depends crucially on the objective being pursued. Also, the information that would be needed to collect makes the application of this criterion quite infeasible. This is the theoretical basis for many cost benefit studies in health care that rely on methods like contingent valuation to measure benefits from health care interventions. If this is the theoretical basis for cost benefit analysis, it means the acceptance of Pareto optimality concept and its related distributional implications. Individual utility is what is being maximised and individuals are assumed to be the best judges of their own welfare. Given the limitations of the welfarist approach, some have argued to rely on explicit welfare functions to aggregate individuals preferences and explicitly address the issues of distribution, but as Arrow demonstrated, it is impossible to aggregate individual preferences in a coherent way. Centuries prior the Catholic Church gained a surplus of control, largely due to the stability it maintained during the chaotic breakdown of the Western Roman Empire . Yet toward the end of the Middle Ages the Church set in motion factors that would ultimately lead to its downfall as the definitive figure of authority. However, despite political and social controversy surrounding the church, the institutions it established cleared a path for a new way of thinking, shaping society in an enduring way. The devastating effect of the Crusades coupled with the spread of the Black Plague launched a changing public view of papal authority. This resulted in a more analytical mindset creating a foothold for the Renaissance and Scientific Revolution . An overtly secular focus took precedence over religious matters and the moral decay of the Church was called into question. This obsession of secular control is most clearly exemplified by the Great Schism that took place from 1378 to 1417 . The Great Schism was the result of the Babylonian Captivity, in which the papacy was forced to relocate to Avignon . People now know the causes of their diseases, the likelihood that their child could get a trait based on the parents, and so people can get a better sense of who they are. One of the most groundbreaking discoveries of medical history was the vaccination and eventual eradication of smallpox, thanks to Edward Jenner. When he noticed that milkmaids exposed to cowpox were immune to smallpox, he used the pus from a cowpox lesions and inoculated a young boy. The boy soon was sick from cowpox but recovered quickly. When he was then inoculated with smallpox matter, he never became ill. This proved that there was a way to save people from the deadly disease of smallpox. This led to a better understanding of immunology. Other vaccines such as polio, MMR, and influenza wouldn t have been created as quickly, if at all without Jenner. It is suspected that his interest and curiosity for curing smallpox was when he was 13 years old as an apprentice to a surgeon; he heard a milkmaid say, I shall never have smallpox for I have had cowpox. The Relations of the United States and the United Nations The history of the US s relationship with the UN is complex, seeming to vacillate between warm cooperation and abject disdain as the national interests of the US and the rest of the world, and the short and long term interests of the US itself, align or oppose each other. The UN was originally the vision of US president Franklin Roosevelt and the product of US State Department planning and diplomacy. It was designed to forward the national interests of its strongest members, the P 5, to reflect and channel the geopolitical power structure rather than twist it into an unnatural and unsustainable hierarchy of weak nations trying to dominate strong. Based on Roosevelt s vision, the UN was also first laid out in the plans of American diplomats during WWII, and the negotiations over the Charter took place at two American locations.
