Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire For Solving...
Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire BFP2 Task 1 Bridget Clark August 21, 2016 A Written
Project Presented to the Faculty of the Teachers College of Western Governors University Introduction
Within mathematics instruction, strategies for solving basic operations are strong and systemic.
However, students in the intermediate grades struggle with finding and using reliable strategies for
solving word problems. The complexity of language that s used in a mathematical context makes it
difficult for students to have a confident approach. Therefore, research is being conducted on how
reading comprehension can be dove tailed with word problem solving in an elementary classroom.
The Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire was designed to collect data from a range of teachers
to learn about math problem solving instruction in a variety of classrooms. This helped identify
effective approaches in teaching, to verify poor performance and lack of strategies with students, and
collect any other various input. The data would guide the mathematics intervention to be used and
planned. Research Topic A majority of current and incoming fourth grade students struggle with
solving word problems accurately. Students have difficulty with word problems mostly based on lack
of reliable strategies and poor language interpretation. While fact fluency may be present, the ability
to interpret vocabulary to guide computation leaves many students unable to construct

Robin Williams Minotaur Meaning
Whoever fights [minotaurs] should see to it that he does not become a [minotaur]. And if you gaze
into the [labyrinth] long enough, the [labyrinth] will gaze back at you. In Greek mythology, the
minotaur is a mythical beast that lives in the Crete labyrinth. Many were sent into the labyrinth and
killed by the minotaur; however, the young hero Theseus managed to slay the beast, armed with a
sword to fight and ball of twine to find his way out. By using the twine to retrace his steps, Theseus
was able to find liberation from the labyrinth after slaying his minotaur. Robin Williams sense of
identity towards the end of his life relates significantly to the notion of freedom and liberation in
defiance and control of self found within the Jewish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Frankl s framework of logotherapy, it is the constant yearning and search for meaning
that has the power to emancipate. The humanistic approach to finding meaning allows people the
liberty to create deeper and more enriched lives through aspects such as work (Pattakos, 2010). This
type of significance is displayed through Robin Williams life work as an actor. Throughout his life,
Williams battled with addictions and depression that ultimately took the toll on him; however, during
his life he constantly worked to enrich other s lives from honesty and raw portrayals, to lighthearted
comedy through film and television (Nanos, 2014; Rochlen, 2014). Movie blogger, Britton Richter
(2013), stated in an article after Robin s death that he ... genuinely would not be pursuing and working
toward the goals that I currently have if it wasn t for [Robin Williams] . The impact that Robin
Williams had through his body of work affected countless people, allowing him to create meaning
through other s experiences of his work. This search for meaning is paralleled by Ari Heber, a Reform
Jew. Ari s sense of meaning is formed through the cardinal teachings of Judaism that are centred
around acts and deeds, rather than theology. Heber finds meaning through his faith within which he
assists others. He stated that it is just through fulfilment of what you re doing it becomes part of your
life (Heber, 2015). As a theory, logotherapy approaches psychotherapy with spirituality as the starting
point of consciousness. Thus, logotherapy proceeds from the spiritual individual (Tweedie, 1961).
When viewing work as an expression of one s own mind, body and spirit, Ari can create deeper
meaning through the personal labyrinth of his work (Pattakos, 2010). Meaning created through the
framework of logotherapy and through work can assist in forming an individual s

Literary Analysis Of Threating And Peter Weir s Dead Poets...
Poetry is Writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language
chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, is and rhythm .
This quote explains that people can not just express their feelings through action and words but, they
can also use poetry. Dead Poets Society by Peter Weir was a film about a group of boys forming the
Dead Poets Society with the influence of a teacher. John Keating was one of the main characters in the
film. He was a teacher from a boarding school. Mr. Keating taught poetry in an innovative way. He
had brown hair, and brown eyes and dressed up in a suit. O me! O life! by Walt Whitman is a poem
about the author questioning his existence. People throughout the author s life betrayed his
expectations and he considers himself as one of these people. Both John Keating and Walt Whitman
lived life and taught in an interesting way. Keating believed in himself while Whitman didn t believe
in himself and thought he was the biggest failure in his life. The main character and the author both
contributed a verse to the students and themselves. A breakdown of how two different ways life should
be lived.
Life should be lived like every day is someone s last and never regret anything because they might
only get that opportunity once so, take it while you have the chance. Mr. Keating was trying to live
life and be happy. Also, he tried to make school fun for his students. In the film he

Debate On Newsworthy Debate
Newsworthy Debate Within My Program of Study:
STEM and/or Liberal Arts
Teré Fowler Chapman
Northern Arizona University
When I first went to college I was seventeen years old with a knack for writing, an investment in
history through story telling, and curious about group dynamics, psychology, and sociology. When I
was seventeen these weren t the words I used to describe my interests in continuing education and
because of this I remember scanning through majors that didn t fit all my interests simultaneously. For
a moment, Liberal Arts caught my eye as it gave me the freedom to explore my own identity.
However, upon sharing this out loud with those in my mesosystem the underlying message of

Liberal Education isn t focused on the political aspect of liberalism, however focuses on liberating its
students by giving students space to explore their passions deeply. This exploration cannot happen in
an education program that is built off of individualism and its exclusivity must constantly be
challenged. As Cronon states, We should remember the powerful class and gender biases that were
built into this vision of freedom. The free man who studied the Liberal Arts were male aristocrats;
these specialized bodies of knowledge were status markers that set them apart from unfree serfs and
peasants, as well as from the members of other vulgar and ignoble classes. Our modern sense of
Liberal Education has expanded from this medieval foundation to include a greater range of human
talents and a much more inclusive number of human beings, holding out at least the dream that
everyone might someday be liberated by an education that stands in the service of human freedom
(Olejarz, 2017). Liberal Education isn t about mastering a particular subject. Instead Liberal Education
is about mastering positive characteristics that foster a deeper sense of personal identity and cultivate
human freedom. When the debate between STEM and Liberal Education arise the underlying
impression of those that support segregating the importance of these two focuses challenge that

The Jewish Community in Greece
Problems with format
?The Jewish community in Greece has a very colorful and intriguing past, but it is also a history filled
with undeserved discriminatory acts and hatred.? The earliest Jews came to Greece either in chains or
because of persecution, and soon experienced more hardships and troubles.? And just when Greece
had overcome its discrimination and its Jews began to breathe easily, the worst persecution of all
befell the community.? The Jewish community in Greece was once large and prominent.? In fact, ?the
country once boasted some of the most distinguished and ancient Jewish communities in the world.1

Greece became a country in 1821, it ?recognized the civic and political equality of the Jews.?5? The
lives of Greek Jews were greatly improved until the 1940s, when anti Semitism and hatred removed
them from their homes and robbed them of their lives.
History of Thessaloniki
?The Greek city of Salonika, or Thessaloniki, is an excellent example of the Greek Jewish

Franz Kafka And The Metamorphosis
Internal and External Demons: Franz Kafka and The Metamorphosis
Without knowledge of deeper symbolism, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka appears to be
incredibly abstract and even humorous. The story is that of a man who transforms into a beetle within
one evening and who struggles to endure. Upon scrupulous analyses, several forms of parallelism are
evident within Kafka s short story, and Kafka s personal life is portrayed within The Metamorphosis in
a mild manner to those who do not appreciate deeper meaning. Kafka s antagonist in The
Metamorphosis mirrors Kafka himself. Franz Kafka battled his father and his mental well being whilst
living, and upon closer inspection of the short story, Gregor Samsa s image (physical and
psychological) reflects Kafka s demons. The writing of Franz Kafka is greatly influenced by both the
internal and the external struggles of his personal life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

father gave him a strong push from behind that was a truly liberating one, and , bleeding profusely, he

Dbq On Thomas Paine
Paine rejected the traditional ideas of government and had a vision for a future society that
transcended the minds of the known world. He advocated independence from Great Britain and played
a major impact in jump starting the American Revolution by elucidating the impracticalities of
aristocratic hierarchy, established religion, and social injustice. However, Paine was more than just a
wishful thinker. Thomas Paine was a utopian and promotes his utopian vision in his political writings
in order to try and establish a possible future which is for the common good of humanity.

Another problem which Paine found with the society of his time was social injustice. In Agrarian
Injustice Paine expresses that it is wrong to say that God made rich and poor, He made only male and
female; and He gave them the earth for their inheritance (Agrarian Justice). Paine is trying to show
that people of all kinds of social standing are equal and it is a government s responsibility to treat them
that way. He goes on to explain that poverty is not natural but is a creation of humans as a result of
civilized life. Paine explains the main way that humans have created social injustice is through the
division of private property among citizens. He states that division of property has dispossessed more
than half the inhabitants of every nation of their natural inheritance, without providing for them, as
ought to have been done, an indemnification for that loss (Agrarian). Paine explains this to show that
those in poverty are unable to control the situation they are in so all people should have a mutual
obligation to help out everyone in

Dallas Mavericks Case Study
The Dallas Mavericks have had an interesting offseason to say the least. The free agency period
started off fantastic for the team but got rough very quickly. With the pending signing of a massive
free agent in Deandre Jordan, Mavericks fans were on cloud nine. We all know how the Jordan saga
played out, so Dallas had to look elsewhere in free agency and through trades. Dallas signed a young
shooting guard in Wesley Matthews and an aging point guard in Deron Williams. The team also traded
for veteran center Zaza Pachulia to bolster their front court. All three of these players are great assets
to the team and will be worked into the Mavericks starting five in 2015 16. Dallas made some great
real life acquisitions but are they fantasy relevant? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The loss of Tyson Chandler to the Suns through free agency and Deandre Jordan deciding to stay with
the Clippers almost crippled the Mavs. Pachulia won t be the saving grace for the franchise, but he
will bring talent and veteran leadership to the club. Pachulia put up good defensive numbers for the
Bucks last season, and can really excel at both ends of the floor. A solid role player, Pachulia has
averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his 12 year NBA career. Pachulia won t come
close to performing like Deandre Jordan or even Tyson Chandler. However, he will be a solid
performer at center this season and has a keen ability to protect the paint. He ll most likely be sharing
court time with Samuel Dalembert and Dwight Powell so I don t expect much better numbers than his
career average. Carlisle tends to also like to play small ball, sticking Parsons at power forward and
Nowitzki at center. Both of these things could put a damper on the fantasy success of Pachulia.
Pachulia is a very intriguing fantasy option, but I just don t see a supreme value for him going
forward. Taking him as a late round pick in drafts or scooping him up on waivers will be the best
option going forward. There will be plenty of opportunities to grab rebounds and put back shots for
Pachulia, but will that be enough to justify a roster spot on your team? I say give him a try but temper

Very un healthy for us to be consuming this basically fake meat so this needs to be put to a stop .
Back in the Industrial Revolution Age we were faced with the same problem but back then it
was even worse , due to all the diseases and the lack of knowledge and technology , this all
changed when the big meat companies got exposed for what they were doing wrong . Author

The Wood Duck Thesis
James Thurber s The Wood Duck , published in 1936, splits nature into multiple recognizable pieces,
some to be hunted and used for human gain, while others are to be left alone for a distant enjoyment,
like merciful gods gazing down upon a simple, weak being. Death would be easy for the small being,
is easy, and yet it lives and so it is treasured as a small entertainment. The Wood Duck , rather than
take an obvious stance against or for human industrialization and what it does to the ecosystems that
share our small blueish planet, instead brings to light the jarring contradiction in which humans live
with nature as both aggressors and innocently curious viewers of a nature that is forced to adapt to
survive in a world humans had vitally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without this bonding and recognizable worth, nature and the beings within it act as little more than a
blended setting rather than each having individual worth in themselves. Only the hunters, who were
recognized as going out and purposefully killing other creatures for sport, felt any amount of internal
conflict when presented with the duck s possible death by a car. They, too, had bonded with the duck
in some way so that it no longer fell into the same category as other ducks, that of possible prey, but
into a category similar to their own dog and thus out of bounds to kill intentionally. When faced with
the sudden possible death, the hunters felt embarrassed and self conscious , probably due to the fact
that they had been jarred into self reflection and realized what they had unintentionally done by
subconsciously declaring the farmer s wood duck as somehow different from the ones they were
possibly looking forward to hunting in the repopulated forest nearby (2). To them the duck had been
granted a brief level of importance, like a pet, which had then been taken back once the fowl had died
and resembled the very birds they had been looking forward to hunting later. Nature, similarly to how
the hunters viewed the wood duck, was only not allowed to be killed or torn away or buried under oil
stained concrete when and if it reflected a worth given to it by a human being. Without that reflected
worth it held no possible reason to not be hunted or smothered by man made products, as only then
once it had been hunted or turned into something useful could it be recognized as having a worth. On
one side of the story there is an inquisitive narrator, his wife, and a relatively friendly farmer who
view the duck and thus nature as something tangible and possibly

There are multiple studies on the effects that chromium may have on blood glucose levels in diabetic
patients. Some research journals below insist on a significant change that was observed in blood

effects of a chromium supplement on glucose, the first one including type 2 diabetics. The third
research journal is a study of chromium deficiencies and whether or not that is a significant factor in
pre diabetes. I think it s key to know the findings of the deficiencies, as it would help us conclude
whether or not the addition of chromium to a diet would be beneficial in preventing or controlling

Why Athletes are Good Role Models
Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the hard work that they do to achieve their
goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like them. What happens though when the
realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of
athletes are model citizens that you should really look up to, but there are also some bad apples in the
bunch that ruin it for everyone. Athletes can inspire young people to work hard so that their efforts can
pay off, but no one is pure and flawless. Greed does take a hold of some players, but they shouldn t be

says that parents shouldn t be blaming the athletes if they can t control their own children. Another
person that agrees with this notion is football and basketball star Deion Sanders. Barkley has paid over
$80,000 in fines over a period of two years. He

Autism Is A Growing Epidemic
An epidemic affects many people at the same time, and spreads from person to person in a locality
where the disease is not permanently prevalent. Because the autism diagnosis charts are raising every
year, autism is considered a growing epidemic in the United States.
For many years humanity has pondered the origin of autism. Autism originated from the greek word
autos, meaning self . Many say that individuals with autism think to themselves, or is in their own
world . This describes an autistic person s actions, implicating that the individual is detached from
civil communication. Autism was not given its label until the early 1900 s. Around 11 years later, a
swiss psychiatrist named Eugen Bleuler, diagnosed a body using this ... Show more content on

They tried painful remedies like the electric shock. This meant that the patient had electrodes placed
on their head and was shocked. Doctors believed that this would shock the patients autism away.
Another so called treatment for autism was lysergic acid diethylamide, otherwise know as LSD. LSD
is a hallucinogenic drug. Hallucinogenic drugs change the way you sense the world around you. LSD
is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. Doctors thought that LSD would treat autism because of its
psychotomimetic effects.
A decade later, researchers found that therapies would be the most beneficial to autistic patients. The
most common, however, was the behavioral therapy. This focused on helping change unwanted
behavior. It is also called cognitive behavioral therapy or behavioral modification. Doctors and
therapists use this type of therapy to replace bad habits with good ones. The therapy also helps you
cope with difficult situations.
In todays society, the most useful cure for autism is behavioral therapy and language therapy. As I
noted above, behavioral therapy helps replace bad habits. Language therapy helps the patient speak
and understand how to communicate with others.
There are many symptoms in which an autistic person has. The first, and most common, is the
inability to comfortably speak to other human beings. Everyday, you have a conversation effortlessly
with another person. Individuals diagnosed

Worst Evil Quotes
Human nature is strange yet natural. The imperfections and strengths of humans are what makes them
real and authentic. However, these imperfections can take a turn for the worse for some. Everyone has
a distinct flaw that can bring the worst out of them. As shown in William Golding s Lord of the Flies,
this is proven to be true. One can be their own worst enemy with the spread of corruption, lack of
discipline, and the influence of power. To begin with, corruption is the alteration of what was once
good and is now worse. Humans, as a matter of fact, are a prime example of corruption. In Lord of the
Flies, Simon proposes the statement ...maybe it s only us when referring to the real beast of the island
( Beast from Water 89). This means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The lack of discipline is an act that heavily contributes. Allowing people to do whatever they want
without consequences at hand is a very inconsiderate thing to do. It ll let them think what they are
possibly doing isn t wrong or dangerous. There were rules made at the beginning of Lord of the Flies
when preparing for survival. They would use the conch for meetings while also keeping the fire signal
on the mountain going ( Fire on the Mountain 42, 43). However, these rules are broken and ignored
later on as they aren t heavily enforced. When the fire wasn t maintained, the choir boys who were
held responsible were not punished. Instead, nothing was done to ensure this situation would not occur
again. When a child is disciplined by their parents for an action like bullying their sibling, they are left
with the impression of not to do it again or they will get in trouble. They are taught a lesson in being
told what was wrong. The deaths of Simon in chapter 9 and Piggy in chapter 11 both go unpunished as
well. While they both perished without any relations to the rules, their deaths never crossed the minds
of the boys who followed in Jack s tribe as a wrongdoing. Their behaviors are redefined as wild
animals with no one to tell them to stop and think of their

Purpose Of Advertising In Advertising
Advertisements come in all shapes and forms; billboards, commercials, signs, prints...etc. Yet, they all
have one thing in common: to spread a message. The sole purpose of an advertisement is to not only
inform their target audience, but to make their audience carry out an action. These actions can range
from buying a specific product, eating healthier, or helping those in need. The advertisements i ve
chosen are print ads. Both ads share the same purpose; the prevention of animal and domestic abuse.
These two images focus on the rhetorical device pathos; the term pathos is defined as emotion.
Though, different, the two images are highly effective in sending their message: report animal and
domestic abuse. Through imagery, color schemes, and key phrases; which inform the audience and
hopefully prevent the situation.
In some cases, advertisements like to rely solely on imagery to spread their message. The first image
on top depicts a german shepherd. The german shepherd relatively looks young as if it s a view
months old. Additionally, the german shepherd is looking off into the distance almost as if it s in high
alert. This is because whenever we imagine a german shepherd, we automatically assume: guard dog.
German shepherds are well known for their unconditional loyalty, intelligence, and protection. Which
is why this ad personally makes me feel safe and protected. By including the german shepherd looking
off into the distance, fuels the sense of tranquility and

metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.Quartz varieties are commonly separated into two groups based
on the size of the individual grains or crystals. Macrocrystalline quartz in which individual crystals are

Rose quartz found in madagascar usually have very large crystals and are extremely deeply colored. In
South Dakota, rose quartz is found in pegmatites in the Southern Black Hills area. These pegmatites
are associated with the Harney Peak granite mass (which is now exposed at the surface of the earth
because of erosion). The pegmatite formed in this part of south dakota is estimated to be over 1,700
million years old. When rose quartz forms it is usually crystalline which means that the crystals are
very large. Rose quartz forms when magma is pushed up to the surface of the earth and begins to cool
and crystallize. The reason that rose quartz crystals often become so large is because the crystals do
not stop forming until the magma has completely cooled which sometimes make the crystals grow to

Public Transport Systems Of The Uk
Currently there are already a few alternatives to cars available to a large amount of people, the most
prevalent of these being public transport systems which count towards about 16% of commuters as
their usual method of transport in the UK[6]. In the future we will probably see more alternatives such
as driver less cars, notably one being developed by google, and some even speculate as to more
science fiction like modes of transportation e.g. According to Shaw, in the future everyone will use
telekinetically controlled hover boards [1]. The question is somewhat speculative at best as there are
too many factors currently involved as to the requirement of cars both now and in the future.
One of the most compelling arguments against needing to know how to drive is the driver less car
which have had reasonable success under the development of Google, which by 2012 completed more
than 300,000 miles of testing. [...] and there hasn t been a single accident under computer control. [2].
This was achieved about 2 years after the project was first publicly announced and aimed to
fundamentally change the use of cars [3]. The concept itself has a lot of merit as it would give those
previously unable to drive, such as those who are blind or otherwise disabled, means to more
independently get around. A good example of how a driver less car would be was seen in the film
adaptation of Isaac Asimov s I, Robot, in which all cars where computer driven but also gave the
driver an option

By getting a veteran to talk about what they have experienced in the military is hard because they see
and experience things that no human being should every have to go through. Some of our veterans see
and experience things on a deployment that no one should ever experience, some people have no
choice but to put a bullet in a child s head because they are strapped with a bomb and have to decide
whose life is worth more the child s life or the life of themselves and the fellow military members.
Other people go through hazing of forms that our not seen on the news ever unless it is so bad that it

Essay on Apache Indians
Apache Prisoners of War
The Chiricahuas, who were once one of the most feared Native American tribes of the southwest,
became prisoners of war by the United States for a period of twenty seven years. This period of time
was the longest captivity a Native American tribe had ever been imprisoned. The Chiricahuas
imprisonment began in 1886, when the United States Army transported four hundred Native
Americans from San Carlos and Fort Apache reservations to army posts in Florida (Davis). By 1887,
the bulk of the Chiricahuas had been transported to the Mount Vernon barracks in Alabama, and the
rest of the dislocated band of Chiricahuas, including the now famous Geronimo were reunited by 1888
(Davis). During the period of 1887 1894 the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
General Crook relied heavily on Chiricahuas turned into scouts since no white man could ever track
the elusive Geronimo in his own land. Chiricahua scouts then spread rumors of a possible arrest of
Geronimo, which then convinced the proud but, weary leader to turn him into authorities. General
Crook had since resigned and his replacement, General Nelson Miles, finally captured the great
Geronimo (Davis). General Miles had promised the great leader that all the Chiricahua families would
be imprisoned together to further reduce the risk for more conflict. Miles then took it a step further
and suggested to the Secretary of War, William C. Endicott, to imprison the Chiricahua scouts that had
helped to capture Geronimo, for fear that the former scouts could not be trusted. Geronimo was
separated from his family and sent to live at Fort Pickens. The seventeen other families that were
hiding with him at the time of his surrender were sent to live at Fort Marion, where disease and lack of
nutrition were a huge fallacy for life in that area (Davis). By April 1887, a formal report of these
conditions were published that convinced President Cleveland and the war department to move the
Chiricahuas to the Mount Vernon Barracks.
The first Chiricahuas to arrive from Fort Marion, to Mount Vernon, set up camp in the forest right
outside the barrack s twelve foot brick walls. The prisoners were not actually imprisoned in a cell but
were allowed to move freely

The Tower Of The Eiffel Tower
Scene I It is a spacious twin hotel bedroom, there is a big window wall with the view of Las Vegas
Boulevard, the Eiffel tower is visible, it belongs to the Paris Las Vegas hotel. From the window s view,
there is also Planet Hollywood to a side. In front there is the Caesars Palace and the Bellagio with its
fountain show playing along with an Etta James s song, At Last. Behind the window wall, there is an
armchair to the right and on the left there is a desk with a desk chair. A lamp, a couple of magazines,
and a mini bar is all onto the desk all sharply organized. The TV is on, while the five lamps that are
found scattered over the room, are all off, but the curtains of the window are drawn, thus, obscurity is
only a myth in the room. It is indeed ironic, since the city s accomplice of all the sins, which
undoubtedly occurs here, is, in fact, obscurity. Vegas is sin city. Hernan and Patricia enter through the
door. Hernan is holding the card key of the room 1036 in one hand, he also brings a backpack over his
right shoulder. Patricia carries her purse and a small blue suitcase, it all indicates that their stay will
only be for a short amount of time. Hernan is a twenty seven year old man. He has a round belly, dark
skin, and has dyed his hair to a light brown color. The way he speaks and moves have a stereotypical,
normative feminine attitude it is intrinsically him. Patricia is in her early twenties. She is a little
overweight and has three months of pregnancy on

The Electronic Commerce And The Internet

questions and limitation will be presented.
1.1 Background
Nowadays, millions of people joined Internet in daily life. According to Internet World Stats statistics
(2012) today more than two billion people linked to the Internet. The Internet mass use promotes the
electronic commerce rapid expansion in the 20th century. The electronic commerce has been changed
of the traditional way people shop. According to Turban et al (2000) defined the e commerce is an

Young people and women are the primary target of Internet retailers. In particular, university students
are higher percent of online shoppers. University students spends $200 billion online market each
year, and average students available discretionary spending total $287 monthly (Gardyn, 2002).
University students are the main target groups of online shopping due to they are frequently use
computer in order to they have rich online experience and enjoy online activities. According to Xia
and Munroe (2004), students incomes are most from their parents without a lot of expendable income
and thus the price is easily stimulate students. The consumers are prefers to purchase online due to
discount sales. When they shop online they can find more cheaper products or service than in
traditional retailer. Such as, the SECRETSALES.com is the most famous discount sales website.
Another popular fashionable retailers ASOS.com is much cheaper than high street stores.
Consequently, this is another reason for growth of consumers shopping over Internet. The consumer
chose purchase online due to conveniently provides consumer more information and choices to
compare product and price. Joines et al (2003) claims that the certain characteristics of online
shopping are ability to making purchase for consumers conveniently and efficiency compared to the
traditional way of shopping, such as the ability to view and purchase

Case 1.2 Ackoff’s Management Misinformation System Essay
The Ackoff s Management Misinformation Systems is a case written by Russell L. Ackoff and it
appeared in Management Sciences. Ackoff identified five assumptions regarding Management
Information Systems and he explained why he disagreed with the assumptions. The five assumptions
were:
1) Management needs more Information
2) Managers need the information they want
3) Giving Managers the information they need improves their decision making
4) More communication means better performance
5) Managers need only to understand how to use an information system

I do agree with the assumption as well as Ackoff s contention. If you provide a manager with the
correct information their decision making becomes easier to handle. The manager doesn t have to be
looking for the information in multiple places from multiple people to be able to make the decision if
the information needed is readily available. Ackoff s conclusion it completely makes sense. Yes, it is
true that it is necessary to determine how well managers will use the information to make decisions.
Managers always learn from their decisions made either wrong or right.
The fourth assumption was More communication means better performance which to certain point I
do agree, but I have to agree with Ackoff s statement. Ackoff s state that when organizational units
have inappropriate measures of performance that put them in conflict with each other, as is often the
case, communication between them may hurt organizational performance, not help it. I do agree with
more communication across organizations is better, but that doesn t mean the performance will
improve. Let s just say that the performance is not guarantee to improve. A department can
communicate all day about their KPIs but another department might not make improvements to meet
the needs of the department that is reporting the KPIs due to a

Women in Heart of Darkness
In Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the portrayal of women takes a backwards step and is reverted back to
the primitive, more demeaning viewpoint. Conrad employs characters that reflect the archaic
perspectives concerning women. The main character, Marlow, generalizes all women and depicts
every woman as living in a dream like state merely going through the motions of life.
His five women characters were kept unnamed and their speech limited, highlighting the belittlement
of women in the male dominated society. Thus, Conrad offered no advancement to the cause of
women by following convention and minimizing the agency of females through the creation of two
separate, engendered spheres.
Depicting women as unnatural entities, voiceless and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only the men of the story know the whole likeness of Kurtz. Thus, Marlow s lie is not as heroic as it
appears at first read but is really designed to maintain the brotherhood of males the bond that links
Marlow to Kurtz even in death.
Only one woman sees the transformation of men removed from civilization. Conrad presents Kurtz s
mistress with more powerful language than any other woman in the novella. As savage and superb and
ominous and stately, she inspires immediate attention from all around her, but she is a silent presence
and therefore not able achieve true agency unlike her lover, whose greatest attribute is his voice. Even
voiceless, however, she remains a force of her own. The reader can easily understand why Kurtz took
this splendid woman as his mistress by Marlow s description, but Kurtz s attraction to the exotic other
ultimately proves fatal.
The native woman is like the wilderness itself, and like the wilderness, she cannot be tamed and only
serves to fracture Kurtz s self control. The simple affair turns south for Kurtz because the vegetation
of female menace breaks the homosocial bonds keeping Kurtz from losing himself in the freedom of
the jungle. By taking a mistress, he crosses the boundary between the worlds of men and women and
loses the stability of brotherhood bonds, ultimately causing his sordid demise.
Marlow describes the Native

In Flanders Fields Comparison
As the First World War dragged steadily onward toward its conclusion, the perspective of the war held
by the citizens began to evolve. Nowhere is this clearer than in the poems written by John McCrae and
Wilfred Owen. In Flanders Fields, by McCrae, and Dulce Et Decorum Est, by Owen, portray vastly
different depictions of the war being waged across the European continent. The evolving nature of the
European perspective of the war is evident in these two poems, as it changed from McCrae s
inspirational tone at the beginning of the war to the realistic and depressing tone put forth by Owen.
John McCrae wrote In Flanders Field in 1915 during the first stages of the war and intended to inspire

Gone is the glorious and heroic depiction given by McCrae; replaced by the realistic description of
warfare in its inglorious state. In addition, Owen abolishes the myth of a dignified death in battle
depicting the chilling scene of a gas attack, If in some smothering dreams you too could pace / Behind
the wagon that we flung him in, / And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, / His hanging face,
like a devil s sick of sin; / If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood / Come gargling from the froth
corrupted lungs, / Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud / Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, (
Dulce 18 25). In this war there is no dignified death, only the slow painful death described by Owen.
Owen believes the old adage Dulce et decorum est / Pro patria mori is a myth ( Dulce 28 29). And if

  • 2. Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire For Solving... Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire BFP2 Task 1 Bridget Clark August 21, 2016 A Written Project Presented to the Faculty of the Teachers College of Western Governors University Introduction Within mathematics instruction, strategies for solving basic operations are strong and systemic. However, students in the intermediate grades struggle with finding and using reliable strategies for solving word problems. The complexity of language that s used in a mathematical context makes it difficult for students to have a confident approach. Therefore, research is being conducted on how reading comprehension can be dove tailed with word problem solving in an elementary classroom. The Problem Solving Instruction Questionnaire was designed to collect data from a range of teachers to learn about math problem solving instruction in a variety of classrooms. This helped identify effective approaches in teaching, to verify poor performance and lack of strategies with students, and collect any other various input. The data would guide the mathematics intervention to be used and planned. Research Topic A majority of current and incoming fourth grade students struggle with solving word problems accurately. Students have difficulty with word problems mostly based on lack of reliable strategies and poor language interpretation. And if you gaze into the [labyrinth] long enough, the [labyrinth] will gaze back at you. In Greek mythology, the minotaur is a mythical beast that lives in the Crete labyrinth. Many were sent into the labyrinth and killed by the minotaur; however, the young hero Theseus managed to slay the beast, armed with a sword to fight and ball of twine to find his way out. By using the twine to retrace his steps, Theseus was able to find liberation from the labyrinth after slaying his minotaur. The humanistic approach to finding meaning allows people the liberty to create deeper and more enriched lives through aspects such as work (Pattakos, 2010). This type of significance is displayed through Robin Williams life work as an actor. Throughout his life, Williams battled with addictions and depression that ultimately took the toll on him; however, during his life he constantly worked to enrich other s lives from honesty and raw portrayals, to lighthearted comedy through film and television (Nanos, 2014; Rochlen, 2014). Movie blogger, Britton Richter (2013), stated in an article after Robin s death that he ... genuinely would not be pursuing and working toward the goals that I currently have if it wasn t for [Robin Williams] . The impact that Robin Williams had through his body of work affected countless people, allowing him to create meaning through other s experiences of his work. This search for meaning is paralleled by Ari Heber, a Reform Jew. Ari s sense of meaning is formed through the cardinal teachings of Judaism that are centred around acts and deeds, rather than theology. Heber finds meaning through his faith within which he assists others. He stated that it is just through fulfilment of what you re doing it becomes part of your life (Heber, 2015). As a theory, logotherapy approaches psychotherapy with spirituality as the starting point of consciousness. Thus, logotherapy proceeds from the spiritual individual (Tweedie, 1961). When viewing work as an expression of one s own mind, body and spirit, Ari can create deeper meaning through the personal labyrinth of his work (Pattakos, 2010). When I was seventeen these weren t the words I used to describe my interests in continuing education and because of this I remember scanning through majors that didn t fit all my interests simultaneously. Liberal Education isn t focused on the political aspect of liberalism, however focuses on liberating its students by giving students space to explore their passions deeply. This exploration cannot happen in an education program that is built off of individualism and its exclusivity must constantly be challenged. As Cronon states, We should remember the powerful class and gender biases that were built into this vision of freedom. The free man who studied the Liberal Arts were male aristocrats; these specialized bodies of knowledge were status markers that set them apart from unfree serfs and peasants, as well as from the members of other vulgar and ignoble classes. Our modern sense of Liberal Education has expanded from this medieval foundation to include a greater range of human talents and a much more inclusive number of human beings, holding out at least the dream that everyone might someday be liberated by an education that stands in the service of human freedom (Olejarz, 2017). Liberal Education isn t about mastering a particular subject. • 10. Franz Kafka And The Metamorphosis Internal and External Demons: Franz Kafka and The Metamorphosis Without knowledge of deeper symbolism, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka appears to be incredibly abstract and even humorous. The story is that of a man who transforms into a beetle within one evening and who struggles to endure. Upon scrupulous analyses, several forms of parallelism are evident within Kafka s short story, and Kafka s personal life is portrayed within The Metamorphosis in a mild manner to those who do not appreciate deeper meaning. Kafka s antagonist in The Metamorphosis mirrors Kafka himself. Franz Kafka battled his father and his mental well being whilst living, and upon closer inspection of the short story, Gregor Samsa s image (physical and psychological) reflects Kafka s demons. He advocated independence from Great Britain and played a major impact in jump starting the American Revolution by elucidating the impracticalities of aristocratic hierarchy, established religion, and social injustice. However, Paine was more than just a wishful thinker. Thomas Paine was a utopian and promotes his utopian vision in his political writings in order to try and establish a possible future which is for the common good of humanity. Topic sentence. Another problem which Paine found with the society of his time was social injustice. In Agrarian Injustice Paine expresses that it is wrong to say that God made rich and poor, He made only male and female; and He gave them the earth for their inheritance (Agrarian Justice). Paine is trying to show that people of all kinds of social standing are equal and it is a government s responsibility to treat them that way. He goes on to explain that poverty is not natural but is a creation of humans as a result of civilized life. Paine explains the main way that humans have created social injustice is through the division of private property among citizens. He states that division of property has dispossessed more than half the inhabitants of every nation of their natural inheritance, without providing for them, as ought to have been done, an indemnification for that loss (Agrarian). With the pending signing of a massive free agent in Deandre Jordan, Mavericks fans were on cloud nine. We all know how the Jordan saga played out, so Dallas had to look elsewhere in free agency and through trades. Dallas signed a young shooting guard in Wesley Matthews and an aging point guard in Deron Williams. The team also traded for veteran center Zaza Pachulia to bolster their front court. The loss of Tyson Chandler to the Suns through free agency and Deandre Jordan deciding to stay with the Clippers almost crippled the Mavs. Pachulia won t be the saving grace for the franchise, but he will bring talent and veteran leadership to the club. Pachulia put up good defensive numbers for the Bucks last season, and can really excel at both ends of the floor. A solid role player, Pachulia has averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game during his 12 year NBA career. Pachulia won t come close to performing like Deandre Jordan or even Tyson Chandler. However, he will be a solid performer at center this season and has a keen ability to protect the paint. He ll most likely be sharing court time with Samuel Dalembert and Dwight Powell so I don t expect much better numbers than his career average. Carlisle tends to also like to play small ball, sticking Parsons at power forward and Nowitzki at center. Both of these things could put a damper on the fantasy success of Pachulia. Pachulia is a very intriguing fantasy option, but I just don t see a supreme value for him going forward. Taking him as a late round pick in drafts or scooping him up on waivers will be the best option going forward. There will be plenty of opportunities to grab rebounds and put back shots for Pachulia, but will that be enough to justify a roster spot on your team? I say give him a try but temper your ... • 17. The Wood Duck Thesis James Thurber s The Wood Duck , published in 1936, splits nature into multiple recognizable pieces, some to be hunted and used for human gain, while others are to be left alone for a distant enjoyment, like merciful gods gazing down upon a simple, weak being. Death would be easy for the small being, is easy, and yet it lives and so it is treasured as a small entertainment. The Wood Duck , rather than take an obvious stance against or for human industrialization and what it does to the ecosystems that share our small blueish planet, instead brings to light the jarring contradiction in which humans live with nature as both aggressors and innocently curious viewers of a nature that is forced to adapt to survive in a world humans had vitally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without this bonding and recognizable worth, nature and the beings within it act as little more than a blended setting rather than each having individual worth in themselves. Only the hunters, who were recognized as going out and purposefully killing other creatures for sport, felt any amount of internal conflict when presented with the duck s possible death by a car. They, too, had bonded with the duck in some way so that it no longer fell into the same category as other ducks, that of possible prey, but into a category similar to their own dog and thus out of bounds to kill intentionally. When faced with the sudden possible death, the hunters felt embarrassed and self conscious , probably due to the fact that they had been jarred into self reflection and realized what they had unintentionally done by subconsciously declaring the farmer s wood duck as somehow different from the ones they were possibly looking forward to hunting in the repopulated forest nearby (2). To them the duck had been granted a brief level of importance, like a pet, which had then been taken back once the fowl had died and resembled the very birds they had been looking forward to hunting later. Nature, similarly to how the hunters viewed the wood duck, was only not allowed to be killed or torn away or buried under oil stained concrete when and if it reflected a worth given to it by a human being. Without that reflected worth it held no possible reason to not be hunted or smothered by man made products, as only then once it had been hunted or turned into something useful could it be recognized as having a worth. On one side of the story there is an inquisitive narrator, his wife, and a relatively friendly farmer who view the duck and thus nature as something tangible and possibly ... Public Transport Systems Of The Uk Currently there are already a few alternatives to cars available to a large amount of people, the most prevalent of these being public transport systems which count towards about 16% of commuters as their usual method of transport in the UK[6]. The question is somewhat speculative at best as there are too many factors currently involved as to the requirement of cars both now and in the future.
