2. The Joint Commission Visit
The roots of The Joint Commission began in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), founded in
1913, which eventually lead to voluntary onsite inspections of hospitals in 1918. In 1951, The
American College of Physicians, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical
Association, and the Canadian Medical Association joined forces with the ACS to create the Joint
Commissionon Accreditationof Hospitals (JCAH). JCAH was formed as an independent, not for
profit organization whose primary purpose was to provide voluntary accreditation for meeting
established minimum quality standards. It was not until 1970 that the standards of quality were
reformed to represent the highest achievable levels, instead of minimum necessary levels. In 1987,
the company was renamed the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO), which was shortened to today s The Joint Commission after rebranding in 2007.
(Stanberry, 2012)
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations and
programs in the United States. The Joint Commission also provides certification of more than 1,000
disease specific care programs, primary stroke centers, and health care staffing services. An
independent, not for profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation s oldest and largest
standards setting and accrediting body in health care. The Mission of the Joint Commission is to
continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration

EasyCar s approach, built on the easyJet model, was quite different than the approaches used by the
traditional rental car companies. EasyCar rented only a single vehicle type at each location it
operated, while most of its competitors rented a wide variety of vehicle types. EasyCar did not
work with agents over 95% of its bookings were made through the company s website, with the
remainder of bookings being made directly through the company s phone reservation system (at
a cost to the customer of 0.95 [euro]/minute for the call). Most rental car companies worked with
a variety of intermediaries, with their own websites accounting for less than 10% of their total
booking (Click to fly, 2004). And like easyJet, easyCar managed prices in an attempt to have its
fleet rented out 100% of the time and to generate the maximum revenue from its rentals. EasyCar
s information system constantly evaluated projected demand and expected utilization at each site,
and adjusted price accordingly. Because of its aggressive pricing, easyCar was able to achieve a
fleet utilization rate in excess of 90% (Simpkins, 2002) much higher than other major rental car
companies. Industry leader Avis Europe, for example, had a fleet utilization rate of 68% (Avis
Europe plc, 2002).
It was January, 2003. EasyCar had broken even in the fiscal year ending September 2002
(Simpkins, 2002) on revenues of 27 million [pounds sterling] (Marketing, 2003). This represented a

Why Mussolini Rose to Power
The fascist dictator of Italy Benito Mussolini rose to power through the use of his charisma, his
unethical elimination of opponents and his attack on the capitol of Rome Italy. Through the use of
these assets Mussolini was able to successfully become the fascist dictator of Italy and contribute to
the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Mussolini s charisma was one of the major factors
in rising to power, enabling him to woo the people of Italy in his famous speeches. His elimination
of his opponents allowed him to effectively turn a democracy into a dictatorship by force, bringing
him into power without resistance. Finally Mussolini s final march to Rome, the capital of Italy,
was the final turning point in Italy s surrender to dictatorship and fascism. These three aspects were
the contributing factors to Benito Mussolini s rise to power.

His most important weapon in his arsenal was his captivating charisma. It gave him the ability to
hypnotize entire crowds of people, twisting peace into war and freedom into an insatiable debt to
the government or simply put, fascism. Mussolini s second weapon was his Blackshirts, his own
private army which eliminated the opposition and humiliated opposing leaders. With his
Blackshirts Mussolini was able to reduce fair competition into a virtual dictatorship, and reaped the
benefits of the popular vote. His final tool was the march to Rome, a brutal coup which intimidated
the Italian government to the point of handing over their leadership and submitting to Mussolini.
With these assets in hand Benito Mussolini was able to become a ruthless fascist dictator of Italy

6. Childhood Obesity Is A Tremendous Problem Among Our Youth...
Childhood obesity is a tremendous problem among our youth today. Over the past couple of
decades, the prevalence of obesity has increased dramatically. Studies show that in the last 30
years the percent of 6 to 11 year olds as well as the percent of 12 to 19 year olds who fall under
the obese or overweight category has tripled (Finkelstein). Nearly two out of every three
Americans are overweight or obese, and one out of every eight deaths in the United States is
caused by an obesity related illness (Carmona). Obesity has always been an issue, but in recent
decades the severity of the cases of obesity as well as the percent of obese people has increased
dramatically. There are many factors that contribute to obesity. Heredity is one of the key
factors in determining whether or not a child becomes overweight or obese. When one of the
parents is overweight or obese, the chance that he/she will have a child that is also overweight
increases by 50 percent. Additionally, if both parents are considered overweight, the chances that
their child will be obese as well increases to 80 percent (Wexler). Furthermore, once the child is
born and grows up, he or she is more likely to become obese if both of his or her parents work
(Wexler). This is because working parents don t always have the time to make healthy dinners or
supervise everything their child consumes. Consequently, children can consistently eat unhealthy
meals and snacks resulting in an increase in weight gain. Did you

7. Analysis Of The Book Vs. 1-2
Literary Context
Paragraph Analysis
Vs. 1 2: The chapter introduces the solemnity of the giving of the law upon Mount Sinai, which
was one of the most striking appearances of the divine glory. The reader is given the
circumstances of the time and place and the proposal of God s covenant with Israel. The people
come to Sinai and God s message is given to them. Moses is called up the mountain, into the
presence of God, and was employed as the messenger of the covenant. This covenant was granted
out of God s free grace. It is meant to be a national covenant by which the Israelites were a people
under the government of God. The covenant would become a shadow of the good things to come.

In the third month refers to the month of Sivan, around the end of May. At the foot of Sinai they
would become a nation under the leadership of God.
Vs. 2: When they set out from Rephidim, they came to the wilderness of Sinai and camped in the
wilderness; and there Israel camped in front of the mountain.
Rephidim is one of the places visited by the Israelites in the account of the exodus from Egypt. At
Rephidim, they can find no water to drink, and angrily demand that Moses give them water.
Moses calls on God for help and is told to strike a certain rock in Horeb which causes a stream to
flow from it, providing ample water for the people.
Vs. 3: Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, Thus you
shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: Moses would have known the area from
his time herding sheep. He went up into the Shekinah glory of God to receive God s message. The
people were to realize the promises made to Jacob.
Vs. 4: You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles wings,
and brought you to Myself.
On eagle s wings refers to the being drawn up and out of the reach of their slave masters. Their
being brought to God implies that this was a special place of His presence.

8. Good Without Evil In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
What is good without evil? Without evil, there would be no possible way for good to exist. Every
good aspect of something, there is always an underlying evil. This is shown in various literary
periods throughout history. In the epic, Ramayana, written by Valmiki, Rama is virtuous, wise,
powerful and respects others while batting Ravana. While the evil demon named Ravana is short
tempered, arrogant, and has no heroic elements when kidnapping Ramas wife, Sita. Rama is able to
accomplish what no one else can do which allows him to marry Sita. An evil demon named
Ravana hears about Sita s beauty, he then kidnaps her. Rama is desperate to win Sita back, so
Lakshmana, his brother helps by forming an alliance with the monkey king, Sugriva. They then
invade Lanka with an arm of monkeys. After many violent battles, Rama defeats Ravana and wins
back Sita. Similar to Ramayana, Sir Gawain and the Green Knightwritten by The Gawain Poet,
also has good and evil aspects that complement each other, without one, you cannot have the other.
Sir Gawain is the good character that stood up to the Green Knight s challenge and keeps his
word to find the Green Knight a year and a day later. The Green Knight is the evil enemy is the
story that challenges a knight of the round table to a contest. Both authors of Ramayana and Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight exhibits several examples to propose that good and evil are
symbiotic by showing contrasting characters that are battling against each other, the

Thankfully, Dr. Brookter caught the error and I fixed it. While the rest see Hip Hop/Rap music
as a black music genre that talks about money and women. But through the eyes of Rap fans and
artists alike, Rap stands for Rhythm and Poetry. It craved a tapestry of exposing social issues that
America would never shed light on. This will ensure everybody that Hip Hop/Rap is for everyone.
Throughout this survey, my educated guess on the students is whenever they listen to Hip Hop
/Rap music, it is based on how they perceive and interpret the music because most students find
ways to use Rap to express themselves. Whether the students use the music for relaxation,
workouts, or school, Rap music is for everyone who wants to hear it. But, in the survey, WCU
student surveyors say collegians listen to Rap through popularity. I realized that at WCU, college
students that listen to Rap music are split into two listening categories: lyrically and musically.
Those that listen to Rap are interested in it for the sound while the others listen to the music itself.
Rap reinvented the world of music through its exponential rhymes and explosive beats. During its

Through the 90s, Rap reached commercial status through the movies, clothes, and television. Yet,

they brought it with them. While some slaves came from the Barbados, most of the slaves were

11. How The Writing Composed Within Academic Settings Can Best...
The writing composed in academic settings can best be described as demonstrate what we have
learned. Writing to review topics about learning new ideas, to present a case and illustrate to our
professors what we have learned, we can think critically and apply it.
The writing submitted to professors gives them an impression of the way our practical mind works
when confronted with a significant topic in a distinct field of study. Instructors want to see us learn
to think like someone trained within this field. Academic writing make extensive use of specialized
vocabulary and is often difficult to read if the reader is unfamiliar. The audience for this type of
reading is a reader with the same background and equivalent preparation. In ... Show more content

This people do not want to know or monitor the growth of the writer. They want to know what to
do, and what the company is going to do next. Business writers often propose and support strategic
courses of action to their audience.
The problem is that most of the professors do not know what their graduates are doing after they
leave college, they receive some random emails and occasional visits from a few students. Hence,
they continue to teach, as if all of their students will seek graduate work. Often using this fact as a
defense of why they teach a distinct academic theory or author or method of evaluation.
This leads to a program and advising that does our students no good. Instead of guesswork what
students are doing, we need to reach out to our graduates and former students to see where they
really work. Then we should reconsider our courses and cooperate with students to better help them
see all of their true potentials. At our best, we should go further than this and help them find
internships or minors or other majors that will help find meaningful work after graduating. One of
the fact is most freshman undergraduates do not want to become academician for a living end.
Even if, they did, there would be a lot of other courses in their future beyond English composition
to introduce the proficiency of writing for academic purposes.

12. Allegory in Edward Albee s The American Dream Essay
Allegory in Edward Albee s The American Dream
Our understanding of Edward Albee s achievement in The American Dream (1960) has come a
long way since 1961 when Martin Esslin hailed it as a brilliant first example of an American
contribution to the Theatre of the Absurd 1 and 1966 when Nicholas Canaday, Jr. labeled it
America s best example of what has come to be known as the theatre of the absurd. 2
The shrewdest assessment of absurdism in Albee is by Brian Way, who shows convincingly that,
although Albee has successfully mastered the techniques of theatrical absurdism, he has
nevertheless shied away from embracing the metaphysics that the style implies.3 That is, Albee
knows that Theatre of the Absurd is an absorption in art ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albee s title, on the other hand, is rich in intellectual and moral substance, since it refers to a host
of ideas and feelings associated with the fondest hopes of participants in the American experience,
both historic and contemporary. The title is also a fitting thematic label for the play since the
dialogue explicitly refers to the American Dream after the Young Man appears on stage. Ionesco s
title like all titles, an authorial comment on the text rightly says that the play lacks meaning; Albee
s says that it refers to a lot of meaning.
That meaning is most obviously associated with the Young Man, since he is specifically identified
as the American Dream by the dialogue of the play. The less obvious but more important meaning is
embodied in Grandma. The goal of this essay will be to clarify how Grandma s character and
experience bear most of the meaning of the American Dream that Albee wants to communicate in
this play. As we shall see, that meaning fits squarely within the mainstream American humanist
tradition stretching back to the early, idealistic years of the American republic.
Even though she is a physical disaster, many critics have noticed various kinds of attractive
qualities in Grandma. Don D. Moore finds her the most appealing, the most refreshing and the
wisest figure in the play. 8 Canaday, who has written the most about Grandma, praises her for her
realism, clear vision, enjoyment of living, and creative

These seemingly disparate demographics and, subsequently different portions of NBC s flow are
not as disjointed as they seem at first glance. There remain thematic threads and subtextual audience
assumptions that create coherence and flow as it now functions. The imagery of the jeopardy

evokes a theme of travel and adventure that is sustained throughout the portion of the schedule
analyzed, which actually builds off of this same theme created by the slow preceding it, Wheel of
Fortune which was giving out exotic trips as prizes. This sense of adventure establishes a slightly
more ambiguous demographic which can include younger viewers who, for a half hour, live
vicariously through the contestants, getting the same rush when answering questions as the
contestants do. This sense of adventure is upheld in the advertisements as well. The Taltz ad (V)
depicts happy consumers enjoying themselves in the great outdoors under blue skies, and the
various car commercials depict their vehicles offroading in the mountains of a wintry climate, (VI,

Abstract¬¬¬ This paper presents a low hardware overhead test pattern generator (TPG) for
scan based built in self test (BIST) that can reduce switching activity in circuits under test
(CUTs) during BIST. BIST is a device, here part of the functional device is self dedicated to self
testing the correctness of the device. In general BIST is comprised of two TPGs: LT RTPG
(Low Transition Random Test Pattern Generator) and 3 Weight WRBIST(Weighted Random Built
In Self Test) Minimization of hardware overhead is a major concern of BIST implementation. In
test per scan BIST, a new test pattern is applied to the inputs of the CUT every m + 1clock cycles,
where m is the number of scan elements in the longest scan chain. By using two proposed TPG
increasing fault coverage is achieved through the reduction of switching activity, thereby dissipation
of power is minimized.

21. Kadelphianism at Texas Christian University Essay
Psychologists often refer to the period of life known as adolescence as one of the most difficult
stages of development that an individual will endure.
It has been stated that adolescence is the time when an individual forms his/her own sense of
identity. A sense of identity is defined as an organized sense of how our own personality traits,
values, and beliefs fit together in defining who we are. Therefor, the development of a sense of
identity is, in fact, the basis for a stable adult personality.
Certain responsibilities accompany this development of an identity, such as the commitments
quot;to oneself, to one s family, to significant others, and to the various subgroups in society of
which one is a member. quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The founders believed in unselfish service to mankind, and they felt that personal leadership
requires confidence tempered with humility and tolerance.
The rituals of Kadelphianism are also quite simple and pure in nature.
With Frog Fountain serving as a center for all activity, the Kadelphian students meet on a bi
weekly basis; during these meetings there is an opening prayer session, a candle lighting
ceremony, and an open discussion or forum involving all of the students present. The members
discuss private and public issues which they attempt to resolve through peer support and
interaction. After the forum is complete, the candles are blown out simultaneously, and a closing
prayer is recited. During the ritual ceremony, all Kadelphians wear a small pin bearing the symbol
of Kadelphianism: a diamond shaped badge with the inscribed letters TCU and a pair of hands
clasped in friendship.
The hierarchy of the Kadelphians is based on the leadership and dedication set forth by its
members. The Grand Kadelphian, or leader of the students, is chosen by majority opinion; the
other leading Kadelphians are chosen by the Grand Kadelphian based on merit, scholarship, and
service to fellow students. It is considered an honor to be chosen by one s peers for any of the

This is a passive vitalism because it accounts for the distinct as well as for the continuum but
without imposing any external point of view on the becoming of matter. What is really at issue is
the problem resolved, in the reality of its solution. It is not the ideal, but the reality of this ideal that
is in question (Souriau, 2015, p. 208). Passive vitalism in Souriau terms thus expresses in existence
without defining what is given in potential (virtual materiality) and what can become actual
(concrete materiality). What is defended is an existential pluralism (such as that of William James,
A.N. Whitehead and Gilles Deleuze); existences are intensive, allophonic and polyphonic, where

What is being contested in the new posthuman turns to matter cited earlier is the Kantian idea that
there is a mute, inert and meaningless life upon which a human subject imposes his self originating
thought (systematizing and categorising). For education researchers, such as Snaza and Weaver,
agency is given to matter and a student is no longer a unique entity standing apart, but is now no
more than just one among the many different and mutually entangled unique organisms and things.
There are experiences happening all the time, all over the school, independent of humans. There are
always interactions between humans and nonhuman sentient beings and humans and non sentient
objects, such as computers, doors, playgrounds, hallways, utensils, trays, balls, windows, desks,
and so on (Snaza Weaver, 2014, p. 9).
The mutual co constitution of the organic and inorganic forms takes precedence while maintaining
an active and vital self constituting and self maintaining individual organism.
What such accounts of the mutually constitutive agential relationality between subjects and objects
stress is that there is a world of ontic beings (inorganic, organic, inhuman, ahuman, nonhuman) that
ought not be ontologically hierarchized. Further and by implication, they pertain to the question of
how to reconfigure (in connection with its vital milieu) that which we assume is the essential
nature of a child as a unified entity (an assumption often made in educational theory but

Courtship was once viewed as a significant phase in a person s life in which individuals
participated in activities such as long walks in the park while under the supervision of adults and
the community (Lloyd, 1991). Although men would only act on courting behaviors when they
proved to have the means to provide for a future family, the activities did not involve an excessive
amount of money spending like it does today. While sexual exploitation has been used by many
throughout the years, individuals are becoming more aware of the tactics and cues used by one

As in the study with men, women were asked to view pictures of other women depicting specific
cues that could be associated with exploitability. In correspondence to the men s study, the
participating women found cues that depicted women as easy, flirtatious, promiscuous, and
intoxicated to significantly correlate with exploitability; while cues such as anxious, intelligent,
and shy had a negative correlation. The study concluded that both men and women are aware of
the cues used in order to sexually exploit an individual. One can further conclude that women who
are aware of such cues use them as a means to attract a mate as well (Goetz et al., 2013).
While many individuals are in search for a lifelong partner, others are eager to casually date for a
short period of time. Although many studies suggest men are prone to use tactics for short term
mating and women prefer long term mating (Haselton, Buss, Oubaid, Angleitner, 2005), women
also acquire short term mating techniques (Buss Schmitt, 1993). In the study measuring women s
perception of exploitable tactics by Goetz et al. (2013), researchers looked at women who were
more inclined to use exploitability tactics to attract a mate. Although the study found women

entrepreneur may be using a variety of personal sources to invest in the shares. Once the
investment has been made, it is the company that owns the money provided. The shareholder

The Historical and Colonial Context of Brian Friel s Translations
Regarded by many as Brian Friel s theatrical masterpiece, Seamus Deane described Translations
as a sequence of events in history which are transformed by his writing into a parable of events in
the present day (Introduction 22). The play was first produced in Derry in 1980. It was the first
production by Field Day, a cultural arts group founded by Friel and the actor Stephen Rea, and
associated with Deane, Seamus Heaney and Tom Paulin.
As Deane asserts, the play is in many respects an intelligent and enlightening metaphor for the
situation in Northern Ireland. The aims of raising cultural awareness and dispelling socio political
apathy in the North were central to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This culminated in the Rebellion of 1798, lead by Wolfe Tone and the Society of United Irishmen,
in which Hugh and Jimmy participated: The road to Sligo. A spring morning. 1798. Going into
battle (445). But, as these characters soon discovered, the rebellion failed resulting in large
executions and the passing of the Act of Union in 1800. This piece of legislation, effective from 1
January 1801, brought Ireland under the direct rule of the British Crown.
1823 saw the rise of Daniel O Connell (the only real person mentioned in the play), a
disillusioned veteran of 1798 who founded the Catholic Association. O Connell campaigned for
better civil rights and social conditions for the Irish people, hence Maire reporting that he said We
should all be learning to speak English (399). O Connell believed that it was necessary to use the
English language in order to allow Ireland to progress in a quickly modernising Western world. In
1829, due to his efforts in Parliament, the Catholic Emancipation Act came into force overturning
the penal laws.
It was at this juncture, when the play takes place, that Britain began to make deeper inroads to Irish
society and culture. An attempt to colonise the mind and the people as opposed to conquering land
through brute force. Translations is Friel s vehicle for representing methods central to the colonial
discourse of Imperialist aspirations. In the foreground of the play

31. The Ordinary Least Squares Technique
We will use principally the technique of OLS. Studenmund defines OLS as a regression esti mation
technique that calculates the ОІ^ so as to maximise the sum of the squared residuals. So this means
that it minimises the differences between the actual values of the variables and the estimated values
of them. What will interest us then is the ОІ coefficients. He interprets these ОІs as the change of
the dependent variable associated with a one unit increase in the inde pendent variable in question
holding the other independent variables in the equation constant. So a ОІ value of 0.07 would mean
that y changes by 7% for a one unit increase of x. These ОІs then will be the main basis of our
results. But we also have to have measures to see how well the equation explains the relationship
be tween the dependent variables and the independent variables. Studenmund focuses on two
techniques. The first is by analysing the R2. This captures how much of the variation of the
dependent variable is explained by the estimated regression equation. (Studenmund, p.47) The
value of R2 can be between 0 and 1 and the higher is the value the closer the estimated equation
fits the sample data. In fact a better measure of R2 is R bar squared as it takes into account the
degrees of freedom in the model. However, he notes that R bar squared alone is not enough to
explain the success of our model. There could be other factors so, it is an im portant estimate but
not in we can fully rely on. He also warns

Assessing Microsoft s Corporate Strategy Development and Governance
Introduction Microsoft has one of the most pervasive portfolios of software applications, services
and products globally, equally effective in gaining and keeping customers in the consumer, small
business and enterprise markets. The series of broad business models that comprise the company
require intensive levels of governance, risk and compliance management (Ali, Green, 2012).
Microsoft operates in over 160 different nations and needs to balance the many requirements of
internal and external stakeholders while also meeting governance and compliance requirements
globally. Balancing the three strategic priorities of governance, risk and compliance (GRC)
requires intensive levels of stakeholder ownership, participation, support in addition to the precise
defining of financial and strategic controls as well. GRC considerations are often managed at the
board of director level where it is common to find frameworks designed to balance each area of
GRC performance in conjunction with a series of analytics and metrics of performance to evaluate
relative progress over time (Frigo, Anderson, 2009).
As Microsoft is often at the center of litigation and foreign government inquiries regarding their
competitive market and pricing practices, the frameworks used within the company are
multidimensional and often used for long range GRC planning and performance management. GRC
frameworks are indispensable to boards

drivers using hands free devices were significantly more likely to make potentially hazardous

This decision has been met with a mostly positive response, with statistics showing that more than

August 3, 2016 The successes, or lack of success, of an American president is tied to the
effectiveness of their presidential leadership. President Harry Truman served the American people
as president from 1945 to 1953; he became president suddenly after the death of Franklin D.
Roosevelt amidst the end of World War II. Truman s presidency would carry into the aftermath of
World War II and see the beginning of the Cold War
. A tenacious man, he led the country from
isolation into the beginning of modern American foreign policy. Ferrell argued that Truman may be
second only to Abraham Lincoln as one of the greatest presidents. Winston Churchill said of
President Truman, You, more than any other man, have saved Western civilization. Harry Truman s
presidential leadership style proved to be effective and places him among the top American

At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976,
Washington D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to
364 in 1988 and continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the
Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to
88 annual murders in 2012. This statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law
abiding citizens is ineffective in decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way
to obtain a gun even with a gun ban in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the
criminals will have defenseless victims to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans
into place in the past. However, these regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the
ineffectiveness of gun bans and the overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be

When it comes to the learning materials in my room I would make them diverse and easy to use

headquarters; however it proves to lead to something even more complex. This story tells how two
reporters worked together and connected the dots to uncover a scandal that reached the highest
government officials.
On June 17, 1972, a reporter name Woodward who worked for the Washington Post was asked to
cover a story. There had been a break in at the Watergate hotel. When Woodward got to the
newsroom, he found that this was not an ordinary break in, and he would not be the only reporter
reporting on this break in. The burglars had broken into the headquarters of the Democratic national
committee in the Watergate office apartment hotel building. Bernstein the other reporter had the
same assignment as Woodward. The two reporters had no pleasure for each other s company.
As the trails continued for the men who had committed the break in, Woodward started to realize
that there might be more to this story than meets the eye. Bernstein did some research of his own

Personalized questions will allow the survey to get clear answers from willing participants. By

Since the open ended questions in the WTAP News questionnaire can have an infinite number of
answer, identifying similarities is the goal. Coding provides identification for specific themes in
the data. Individual responses will be listed then consolidated into exclusive numeric codes for
each specific category. Each code will illustrate each possible outcome by categorizing answers
through similarities. Data entry for closed ended questions will be simpler, because only three of
the questions were open ended. Most patterns can be realized through the closed ended questions.
Time can be saved and biased can be removed by analyzing each individual response and
categorizing them by identifying patterns and giving them codes. Open ended questions can be
coded and filtered to be analyzed as well through similarities. Coding is important, because results
can be more easily checked through subgroups than individual answers per respondent.
Once codes are set, the next step is to enter the numeric codes. Individual responses should be
consolidated into the numeric codes in order to make the results easier to analyze. The codes would
be entered into a computer and then analyzed by a data entry operator. Intelligent data entry is a
popular method used to analyze patterns. Skip patterns, invalid codes, or violations can be
identified through this process. Through this

45. Persuasion Against Whale Hunting
Save Our Whales: End Whale Hunting
April 7, 2011
Save our Whales, End Whale Hunting
Whales, often called the Ocean s gentle giant are one of the biggest species/mammals that spend
their entire life in the ocean. The smallest known whale is the Minke which, by adulthood is only
8.5 feet long; the largest known whale is the Blue whale , which measures 94.5 feet long. Since the
ancient times, people have written about encounters with this mammal. Ancient Roman and Greek
artists inspired by the dolphin s apparent intelligence and kindness to humans began to adopt
dolphin motifs on vases, coins, mosaics, sculptures, and paintings. Even Arstotle (384 322 bc)
spoke about a variety of different whales and identified them as ... Show more content on

This might seem like a large population; compared to prior figures their population did not
significantly increase. What little increase that was found, was/is thought to be due to overlapping ,
or rather recounting whales. Researchers believe that many of these whales interact with different
stocks/groups (NAMMCO, 1995). These are not the only whales to pay the price; since the
beginning of commercial whaling over one million sperm whales, two hundred and fifty thousand
humpbacks, and two million other whales have been killed for profit. Are times changing? Records
dating back to the 1931 1932 whale hunting season (ten years before the International Whaling
Commission was put in place to protect and stop whaling), 28,325 blue whales were slaughtered.
In 1946, the Whaling Commission was formed; however, even with protection, thirty years later
(1963 1964) over 29,255 sperms kills were hunted for their meat and other products. Today, even
with protection, it is estimated that only 5 10% of the original whale population remains
(Carwardine, Hoyt, Fordyce, Gill, 1998).
Explosive Harpoons The use of harpoons to kill whales is not new; however, in 1986 Japan
started using explosive harpoons, or as the Japan refer to it harpoon grenades (Leake Ryall, 2006).
This harpoon is designed to go through the skin of whale and explode into pieces. The theory
behind this harpoon is that it will hit vital organs,

46. Factors That Affect The Rate Of The Pregnancy
OT plays a major role in the initiation of labor particularly during the expulsive phase by
stimulating prostaglandin release in species, specifically in the uterine epithelium. Blanks and
Thornton (2003) study revealed that secretion of oxytocin is at its maximum level during fetal
delivery of pups but the amount of OT released during expulsion of the pups varies among
species. According to them, oxytocin is at its peak at the time of delivery of the first fetus in rabbit,
and throughout labor with greater pulses overlapping with pup s expulsion in rats. Variations in
oxytocin level are also seen during the pregnancyand labor in humans. According to Blanks and
Thornton (2003) several discrepancies are present when in OT is measured in... Show more content

This suggests that OT is critical for the ejection of milk but not parturition. Additionally, after
injecting OT on OT null mice and wild type mice, the start of premature labor within 24hrs was
observed at high concentrations of OT in both wild and null mice (Blanks Thornton, 2003). With
that in mind, abnormal modification of OT action does influence the start of labor. In conclusion,
they put forward the idea that OT receptor in mice is mostly invested in the timing for the initiation
of labor. Most importantly, the OT receptor is essential for normal labor because those receptors
are found in abundance in uterine epithelium during late pregnancy promoting contractile effects.
Along with those findings, female rats that are undergone a knockout of OT, showed a decreased
in maternal care of their pups but displayed a higher level of aggression (Bales Perkeybile, 2012).
Social rearing conditions plays a role in the binding of OT. Prairie voles, when differently
handled by experimenters a week after being born resulted in more OTR binding (Bales et al
2011). When changing the animal s cages, experimenters carried the parent prairies vole by the
scruff of the neck and others were not touched. Those females that had careful attention and
handling by the experimenters displayed an increase in OTR binding. The same results were
reported in males. They concluded that the type of maintenance that pups received in early days
after being born does affect

threats and global security. The three overlapping types of conflicts which will dictate future wars,
challenge government agencies, and force all branches of the Armed Forces to restructure their
formations are Wars of Silicon, Iron, and Shadow. The four U.S. Services will need to rebalance, be
adaptive, implement strategic agility, and reprioritize their programs to meet specific security
issues posed by these conflicts. Diverse adversaries will employ traditional, unconventional, and
hybrid strategies to threaten U.S. National Security. Joint Forces by 2025 will need to be leaner,
technologically superior, and expeditionary to support Combatant Commanders so; they can win in
full spectrum operations and defend U.S. national interests at home and overseas. These new and
adaptive Defense strategies will require making profound choices due to budget constraints and

48. Marketing Plan For Whole Foods Essay
Thirty six years ago John Mackey started a grocery store based on his vision of a business that
provides customers only natural foods. Based on a simple but effective business model, Whole
Foods has grown to a position of market leadership that is now being challenged by low cost
organic sellers. According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foodscontinues to face
challenges from competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The
company s differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been
successfully emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016)
noted that the company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away
to other low priced organic foodcompetitors.
Whole Foods needs to reduce prices due to the new competitive landscape. Since the grocery
industry runs on very low profit margins, in order to reduce prices the company needs to reduce
costs. Whole Foods can leverage its size along with the company s value proposition of working
with local farmers to develop more efficient collaborative networks. The creation of partnerships in
integrated networks opens up opportunities to take advantage of complementary costs structures,

Collaborative conflict is when you team up with someone else to achieve each other s goals (J.D.,

trust among everyone involved (J.D., 2011).

various sources of financeshould be combined to help maintain a sound record of cash flow.
However, The problem is not just to find the moneybut to find it from the right sources at the right

Speeding up cash inflow, delaying cash outflow, cutting down expenditure and funding
additional finance are all very effective methods if applied properly according to the firm s
circumstance at that time. The firm that is faced with deteriorating debtors situation can
improve its cash flow position by managing debts efficiently. The firm, for example, may grant
discounts for early payment, exact a charge on overdue accounts, or enforce more rigorous
collection procedures. However, before undertaking a new credit policy, it is essential for the
firm to weigh up the benefits of the new credit policy against the cost of greater control because
a more stringent credit policy cannot be implemented without cost. After assessing the relative
cost and benefit of the new credit policy, it is better for the firm to start with computing the
average age of the debtors if it decides to undertake a new credit policy. If the average age of
debtors rises over time, a more detailed breakdown of the age of debtors is required in order to
classify debtors by their quality, liqudity or the date of sale. The calculation of the average age
and the classification of debtors help the firm to fucus on the bad debts and decide on the period
that it is going to allow after the due date or whether to withdraw the credit and claim immediate
payment. Morever, the calculation of the average age and the classification of debtors, combined
with the sensitivity analysis, can also be employed

became Alibaba Group Holding Limited through New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). There were
unique reasons why Alibaba listed on the NYSE instead of on Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and

restrictive, that it imposed limits on trading, size, timing, and speed of foreign capital flows.
Alibaba had also attempted to be listed on the HKEx. Since Alibaba embraces dual class share
structure, this was the main reason HKEx rejected Alibaba s proposal to be listed as HKEx does
not authorize dual class share structure, it allows one share one vote principle instead. Jack Ma, the
