Social Polarization in Latin America and the Carribean
Introduction
Social polarisation is the widening gap within a given society that emerges from income disparities
within individuals causing various social groups, from high income to low income. It entails the
expansion of jobs that require low skills while at the same time, jobs that require higher professionals
and expertise still experience growth. There is a rising concern on issues of social polarisation and
cohesion that stem from the observation that in many countries, societies maybe separating out into
different groups. That concern is quite relevant in the Carribean and in Latin America, a region that
records high levels of inequality and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rents have also gone up, and those residents who cannot keep up with the high rates move out of the
favelas. The current socioeconomic disparities in Brazil, that of wide income levels between the rich
and the poor, encourages the rapid growth of favelas. For instance, in Rio de Janeiro, political
prisoners who have a good educational background remain in prison with drug dealers permitting
them to create a criminal network that has excellent organizational structures. The syndicate that
results, Commando Vermehlo, cunningly plans to expand social programs in the favelas using the
proceeds of cocaine sales. By helping many of the poor favela residents, they gain a lot of support,
which makes it challenging for the police subject the culprits to legal prosecution. Due to a rise in
arrests by the police, the Commando Vermehlo came to a standstill and the favelas remained under the
control of different drug dealers. Income disparities among residents living in favelas also encourage
the trade of drugs since it is more profitable than honest labor. The rich also fuel conflicts in favelas by
purchasing drugs and failing to push for changes that could improve the living standards in the
favelas.
What is the pacification project ? Why is the Brazilian government doing this? (4 points)

Beatriz Milhazes African American Art Style
In this overview, I will be comparing Beatriz Milhazes art to African art. Beatriz Milhazes is from
Brazil; she was born in 1960. She does paintings, prints, and architectural installations (Guggenheim).
Her artwork is mainly geometric figures sort of like kaleidoscope. Most of her work is based on
European and Brazilian art. Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Talsila do Amaral are three artists that
influenced her to do art (Guggenheim). In the 90 s, Milhaze started doing a method of collaging art
and this became her technique; most of paintings had geometric shapes, floral patterns, and used very
bright colors(Widewalls). African patterns are very different from Milhaze s artwork. African patterns
came from architecture, artifacts, masks and textiles (Contemporary African Art). Most of the patterns
are repetitive, for instance, chevron and zigzag patterns are examples but geometric shapes are also
repetitive. The geometric shapes are used in paintings, print, and many more. The geometric shapes
pattern can be arranged horizontally or vertical. Some African patterns are also found in crafts and
artifacts such as: baskets, jewelry, cravings, blankets, etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Milhazes uses Latin America and European in her art work. The way Milhazes represents her art is by
mixing both Latin America and European style by using geometric, fashion, and decorative art
(Widewalls). Most of her art pieces are colorful, all geometric shapes and the shape of lines are close
together and the patterns are not repetitive while African patterns, are in assorted colors and pattern
are arranged orderly. Symbols represents African patterns. Some of symbols that the Africans use to
represent a symbol flowers, seeds, stars etc (Contemporary African Art). There is one similarity
between African patterns and Milhazes art; the single similarity is that the use of geometric shapes in

I strongly believe that children should come with an instruction manual in different languages, after
all, even the most complicated computer system or VCR has a manual in three to four languages, or
more. Granted, sometimes we can t understand the instructions, but we have them and sometimes even
a toll free help line. Now some people would say their own parent would be the help line but not
always does that work out. Our own parents advice can be, shall I say, out dated; for example, many
would suggest to us new parents to tell our child, what we say goes, or stop that crying or I ll give you

Frankly, the whole exchange of dialogue is exhausting and I have given in more times than I d like to.
I m sure that the lack of a Parenting Manual is not the reason for school uniform codes, but in my
household uniforms certainly would make mornings easier. School uniforms have a multitude of
rewards and benefits for both the parent and child and should be implemented in all elementary
schools. The rewards and benefits far outweigh any negative connotations that opposing adults have.
These benefits include: reduced headache and stress in the morning, reduced expense of clothing,
increased focus on academics in the classroom, increased building of team spirit among classmates,
and the, for lack of a better word, non discrimination on the popularity poll. I ll begin with exploring
the morning ritual and the reward a uniform has on this process. Critics opposed to uniforms would
say the solution to the miserable morning is to lay the clothes out at night, hence avoiding such
conflicts. This idea sounds good at the outset; however, it just creates conflicts at bedtime so I haven t
seen the advantages or solution to this nighttime ritual. On the other hand, the uniform idea poses
some great alternatives; first the choices are limited, usually to a few shirts, sweaters, or sweatshirts,
and one or two pairs of pants or shorts, and

The Many Benefits of Hybrid Cars Essay
The Many Advantages of Hybrid Cars
Picture yourself driving on the freeway. You are cruising along at about sixty five miles per hour in
your late model SUV. This is a typical morning for you until an electronic beep from within your dash
catches your attention. When you look at your gauges, you see the low fuel light shining bright and
orange. As you think to yourself, I just filled this thing up a week ago, you glance up to see salvation
in the form of a road sign: Gas, next exit.
Thank you, you say, looking up. When you turn, however, you realize a new problem. The premium
grade fuel with which you usually fill your tank is almost $2.00 per gallon. That means it would cost
you $40.00 just to get through another week of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several different components that make up a hybrid car. These are:
· A Gasoline Engine endash; The gasoline engine on a hybrid car is quite similar to a typical car s
engine. The difference between a typical gasoline engine and a hybrid s gasoline engine is that a
hybrid s engine contains different technology that reduces emissions, and it is also much smaller.
· A Fuel tank endash; Just like a typical car, the fuel tank is a large storage device for the gasoline that
powers the engine. Gasoline is much denser than batteries. 1,000 pounds of batteries store about as
much as one (seven pounds) gallon of fuel.
· An Electric motor endash; This is the part of the vehicle that makes it a hybrid. Advanced electronics
give the motor the ability to act as a generator and also power the transmission. When powering the
vehicle, the motor will draw energy from a battery when need be. When it is a generator, the motor
returns energy to the same batteries that were used to power the motor.
· A Generator endash; On some hybrids (mostly series hybrids), a separate generator is used to return
energy to the battery or power the electric motor and allow the battery to rest.
· The Batteries endash; Like the fuel tank stores the energy for the gasoline engine, the batteries store
the energy for the electric motor.
· A transmission endash; A hybrid s transmission performs the same basic

This film is character driven, following Ghost Dog?s lonely lifestyle, in a linear pace of time after the
job, which changes the world around him and his master. A man of little speech yet great expression is
shown in his friendship with the Haitian ice cream vendor Raymond (Isaach de Bankole?) who can
only speak French, and neither of them can verbally understand each other but seem to be on the exact
same line of thought. The film is narrated by Forest Whitaker reading from the book ?Hagakure?
which segments the film into parts demonstrating the many codes that the samurai lives by; through
his dedication to this book and meditation, Ghost Dog remains in control of his mind state and

of Gangster is typically the struggle of the hero type criminal against the rules of society within the
American dream, rather than make the audience feel like the Mafia are good or bad it just makes a

The Positive And Negative Impact Of Social Media And...
Introduction Since the new phones are coming out with more and more accessibility to the internet
from almost anywhere, social media has grown tremendously. Young teens have unlimited access to
sites that influence how they dress, act and talk as well as what they talk about. Social media is not the
only type, there are multiple types of media that can play roles in the lives of these adolescents. Mass
media plays an intricate role in shaping the minds and ideas of the current adolescent generation in
both positive and negative ways. The article Growing Up Wired discusses the impact that social
networking sites have had on adolescents and their use of the sites. I hope to discover whether mass
media has a positive or negative effect on adolescents by using its impacts and applying them to both
sociological concepts of identity as well as groupthink. Media Usage In the article there are many
staggering facts about how often social media sites are used and what adolescents are using them for.
The article estimates that 11 18 year olds spend up to 11 hours a day on the social media sites and
exposed to media via electronics. It is estimated that approximately 73% of adolescents are on social
networking sites whether they meet the age restriction or not. The young people s parents are
following the footsteps of them by starting to use the sits they see the adolescents on after the
adolescents have started using it, this is a parallel to what was expected since these sites were
originally adult oriented and created for an older audience. A majority of young people will wake up
and check their social media profiles as well as check them again before going to bed at night. How
that Impacts Day to Day Life The constant checking of social media and electronic sites can become
interruptive to daily tasks. For things like paying attention in class the thought of checking social
networking sites can be enough cause for distraction. Wondering whether you received any snapchats
from people or how many likes your last picture got can be temptation enough to pull out a phone and
check to see if you have notifications from your favourite sites. When put into new situations or put
around new people, adolescents

The Prevalence Of Hiv Is Higher Among Women Essay
The prevalence of HIV is higher among women (30%) than men (19%) (Ministry of Health [Lesotho]
ICF International, 2014). For both men and women, HIV prevalence increases with age and then
declines. HIV prevalence is highest for women at age group 35 39 (46%) and for men at age group 40
44 (44%). Taking employment into consideration, employed individuals in Lesotho have higher
prevalence of HIV than unemployed for both men and women. The prevalence among employed men
and women is 39% and 23%, respectively and among unemployed men and women is 21% and 9%,
respectively. Social stigmatization and discrimination inhibit citizens of Lesotho from HIV screening.
Knowing whether they are HIV positive and/or concern of being labeled in their community function
as barriers in citizens getting screened. Males in the population are more likely to express attitudes in
favor of social stigmatization. Stigmatization is directly related to disparities: gender, socioeconomic,
and education. (Socioeconomic determinants.... pg. IV. Sex Workers According to the Trafficking in

President Franklin Roosevelt s plan was to relieve, recover, and reform America. To do this, Roosevelt
selected well educated and respected individuals to be part of his reform team. This group was called

administration didn t have a clear plan of action to help America. Nonetheless, within the first 100

The Importance Of Technology In WWII
Technology played a very important role in WWII and the ability to have certain technologies was key
to winning on the battlefield for both the United States and its allies. Most of the technology used in
WWII were based on already existing technology, however a lot of it was changed and modified due
to lessons learned from WWI and these advancements in technology helped America and it allies
greatly during WWII. Advancements in medicine, transportation, and weapons played a major factor
in the success of America and its allies in WWII by giving an upper hand to soldiers. Technological
advancements played a key role on and off the battlefield, helping secure victories that were necessary
for defeating German and Japanese forces in both theaters of WWII. Advancements in technology
occurred mostly through the fields of medicine, mechanized transportation, and weapons. Most of the
technology that we take for granted today can be directly traced back to WWII. Extensive amounts of
research was preformed during this era and for the first time war efforts were directly aimed at
disrupting the enemy s ability to preform research and develop new technologies. In modern day
America we take antibiotics for granted and don t really think twice about the history, or what life was
like before them. In the early 1900s people could become very ill and in some cases die from things as
simple as a splinter that become infected. When soldiers in WWI were being wounded on the

Examples Of Self In Zootopia
Anyone can be Anything: How is Self Shaped by Individuals and Society.
In the movie Zootopia, racial profiling and social stereotypes are allegorized into distinctive,
discriminatory groups of predator prey and species archetypes such as slow sloths, sly foxes and dumb
bunnies. Most reviews praised the movie s thematic portrayals of stereotypes (e.g. Telegraph, New
York Times) and universal values of freedom and perseverance (e.g. Washington Post) within the film
s narrative. But few reviews address Zootopia s exploration of variations of identity as noted by
Screen Crush, and none displayed any in depth analysis of self. Hence, this essay seeks to explore self
in Zootopia. Within the city of Zootopia, the recurring slogan In Zootopia, anyone can be anything ,
seemingly gives the anthropological characters an equal opportunity to pursue their dreams regardless
of their species. Thus, Zootopian citizens have the freedom to construct their self. As defined in Scott
Cohen s essay Chasing A Myth? Searching for Self Through Lifestyle Travel , self is each individual s
reflexive sense of her or his identity, constituted vis a vis others in terms of similarity and difference.

B2B Assignment 1
INTRODUCTION
This assignment is to understand the nature and complexities included in B2B marketing. This
assignment also includes the important aspects of B2B and B2C marketing. The objective is to discuss
how B2B differs from B2C.
B2B is basically for longtime sales practice called business to business while B2C signifies business
to consumer. B2B deals with commerce transactions between businesses, not the general public, and
B2C provides products and services directly to the end user. The initial step in forming marketing
strategies for both B2B and B2C is to some extent similar.

B2C sales representatives are accustomed to a moderately short purchase cycle and a much closer
association with marketing and e business. Exchanging to the B2B world would have a tendency to
baffle most B2C salesmen because of the more extended term technique and necessities for
relationship building. Then again, moving from B2B to a retail environment may turn out to be
excessively serious for the normal B2B sales proficient, with little of the consistency or arranging they
are utilized to. In either case, while fabricating a successful sales force, you ought to consider the

A Report On The Cleveland Street Workhouse
Introduction Pathway, the homeless healthcare charity, is seeking for a property to carry out their
homeless people medical respite strategy. The Cleveland Street Workhouse, located the eastern side of
Cleveland Street, has become their potential target. However, they do not know whether this place
could satisfy their objectives. Therefore, this report is aim to provide a guidance and some suggestions
for the clients, to enable them carry out their strategy more easily. Land and property appraisal In this
case, the information about this property is not enough to support us making any decisions. For
example, THE CLEVELAND STREET WORKHOUSE Document 1(assignment sheet) has
mentioned It is generally of poor quality internally and will need significant refurbishment, bearing in
mind the listing of the front block . Information like this is too weak to support our strategy and we
need some more detailed information. Therefore, I think it is essential to make a Land and property
appraisal. This contains a well rounded check of the targeted land and property. Not only it lets us
know how much cost is needed to maintain the property at an acceptable standard, but also it helps us
to find out the opportunities for adaptation and rationalisation. In short, the Land and property
appraisal let us know what to do, in which place, at what time. Is it the fundamental activity to set up a
baseline assessment of the targeted land and property. Land and property appraisals could be

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Field Oriented Control
FIELD ORIENTED CONTROL The main drawback of sinusoidal commutation is that the motor
currents are controlled which are time variant and thus PI controllers have to operate on limited
bandwidth. Hence using field oriented control the currents in a, b, c reference frame are transformed to
d q reference frame. Thus controllers are not subjected from time variant currents and voltages and
limitation of controller frequency response and phase shift on motor speed and torque is eliminated.
Using Field Oriented Control, current control is largely unaffected by speed of rotation of the
motor[6].In the scheme of filed oriented control motor currents and voltages obtained from the motor
are transformed into d q reference frame. Measured currents from three stator phases these currents
which are now in the stator reference frame are converted into two phase using Clarke transformations
which are further converted into the corresponding rotor reference frame using Park transformation.
The resultant current obtained is dc which is easier for the PI controllers to operate. ... Show more

the element was made possible through the fusion of elements 20 and 96. To be precise, calcium 48
was fused with curium 248. When calcium atoms were fired at the curium target, the atom
livermorium 292 was formed. It lasted for about 50 ms before it underwent alpha decay. In a year s

Start by picking a brand focus, which you may better know as a brand principle. When people refer to
a brand principle in business, they are referring to the rule a company lives by, or an aspect of the
company or its products. It is a company s way of saying, We stand for this, and your brand focus
should be a similar thing. It is similar (but not the same) because you need to show people what you
stand for, but you also need to highlight something specifically terrific about yourself.
Tip Think of yourself as selling a service instead of selling a product. The service is your time and
expertise.
Creating a brand friendly title
Your title needs to in some way reflect your brand focus. It doesn t have to state it overtly, and it may
look at little tacky if you do, but it should give readers a hint around what to expect. The biggest
mistake that people make is to state their current job in their title/headline.
For example, your brand may be that you are an exemplary biomedical scientist who deals with fecal
matter. However, you may currently be working as a meter maid since having your baby. Some users
would make the mistake of writing that they were a meter maid in the title/headline. Even though it is
true, it is not a brand friendly title, since a brand friendly title/headline would either state that the

The North And South During The Civil War
Throughout the 19th century, the distinctions between the North and South in the United States were
controversial. Prior to the Civil War, the North consisted of business owners and middle class men.
The South consisted of mostly farmers. The North was industrial, using railroads and factories. The
South was agricultural, with mostly farms and plantations. The North paid their labor workers. The
South used slaves. Not only did their opposing views on slavery and the separation of the two cultures,
tensions arose that eventually led to one of the most gruesome wars in history.
The North pushed for the abolition of slavery due to the immorality of it. Yet, some reports say
otherwise. In the article To Forget and Forgive: Reconstructing the Nation in The Post Civil War
Classrooms, Ginsburg states, Confederate authors explained Northern anti slavery sentiment in
economic terms once Northern businessmen found slavery unprofitable, they abolished it and turned
to slavery Fanaticism . These Southern authors believed that the North s anti slavery movement was a
ploy for economic prosperity. As a result, this tension led to the fallout of the Kansas Nebraska Act of
1854, when both northern slave territories were either free states or remained slave states by the
people. This was an opportunity for the government to leave the legislative branch of slavery with
poor sovereignty. The states decided on slavery in hopes that it would have ended slavery controversy
and avoid racism.

Critical Analysis of Edwin Arlington Robsin
Her Kisses Were the Keys to Paradise
Kaitlyn Cornell In Edwin Arlington Robinson s poetry, haunted houses sound like hanunted houses,
dark hills sound like dark hills, but to Robinson it goes beyond that. By the metaphors, images, and
emotion he puts into his writing, it is clear that he is feeling something beyond the paper and ink.
Many of his works are dark and melancholy and reflect something that may have happened in his own
life. There is a reoccuring theme that symbolizes his wife or significant other walking out on him.
Other poems reflect his feelings about that situation. Robinson shares with his readers the anguish and
recovery of the woman leaving him. .Perhaps Robinson s most famous poem, Richard Cory , tells the
story of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There she was always coming pretty soon/ To fool him back, with penitent scared eyes is Robinson s
wife coming back in his dreams. The way he descroibes her as the laughter of the moon and her kisses
her the keys the Paradise shows how much he loves her. He mentions Faithful or not, he loved her all
the same which acknowledges that she has a flaw, but he still is in awe around her. Also, he mentions
her eyes once again which relates to Her Eyes . Robinson uses this poem to reflect on that lonely night
she fled and expresses just how much he cares for her even after she left. Similarly, Another Dark
Lady uses Robinson as the speaker and he again says that she fled . He says I cannot hate you, for I
loved you then which ties his feelings back to The Story of the Ashes and the Flame . Robinson
expresses that she is still beautiful even after what she has done to him and he still loves her when she
is gone. In The House on the Hill Robinson portrays his relationship with his wife through a house.
The House is shut and still, there is nothing more to say creates an image of an old boarded up house
which symbolizes their relationship. Why is it then we stray/Around the sunken sill? is Robinson
saying that it is time to let go and there is no use staying in the lifeless situation. Robinson, as the
speaker, uses they as themselves when he says They are all gone away in the sense that

Riggs V. Palmer Case Analysis
After Francis B. Palmer murder, the main question that was posed by the court is should a murderer
inherit ? There was a disagreement between the judges on how the statute of wills should be applied
and interpreted. As a result, Judge Gray made some surprisingly strong arguments that the court is
bound by the rigid rules of law , therefore, Elmer should not be denied his inheritance. Unlike the
dissenting judge, Judge Earl claims that no one should take advantage of his own unlawful actions.
Due to these different perspectives, I will first analyse both judge s decision. Secondly, I will make a
claim that Judge Earl s decision was inconsistent and invalidates the written statutory law, therefore,
the dissenting judges make a stronger argument. Finally, I will use the Legal Positivism Theory to
challenge Judge Earl s Natural Law Theory to support my position. ... Show more content on

Palmer case, the court sided with the majority judges on the notion that Elmer should not benefit from
his crime. Considering that this maxim was not law, the court s decision was solely based on moral
judgement. Even though there was a binding will that granted Elmer the property, the majority
believed that the legislators who created the statute of wills did not intend to allow a murderer to
inherit under the will. Judge Earl continued to infer that if the case existed at the time of the creation
of statutory wills, necessary steps would have been taken to prevent this issue. His argument was
based on the fact that Elmer s intention was to commit murder to receive the property, therefore, to
give him this benefit would be unfair to the testator and his

Objective 310.2.3-08 Develop an Ethics Program Essay example
Objective 310.2.3 08
I and two other individuals have decided to start a company that will provide management consulting
services to nonprofit organizations. The company will have 15 to 20 employees. Since many of our
clients will be paying with funds provided by government sources, we have decided it would be
appropriate to have an ethics program in place before we start offering services. A company must have
an effective ethics program to ensure that all employees understand its values and comply with the
policies and codes of conduct that create its ethical culture (Ferrell, Ferrell Fraedrich, 2008, p. 211). In
order to develop an effective ethics program, it must contain certain items. It must first have a code of

As with other types of codes of conduct, it will contain methods for reporting violations, how
discipline is distributed and how it is adjudicated. When developing the code, besides the input of
stakeholders, I and my two partners will be directly involved in forming its content. We will consult
our legal counsel to ensure we have avoided any potential legal problems. Six values that have been
suggested as being desirable for codes of ethics include: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility,
fairness, caring and citizenship (Ferrell, Ferrell Fraedrich, 2008, p. 215). We will use these as a guide
when developing our code, as it fits into our desire to have a values orientation for our ethic program.
The code will direct all officers and employees while conducting company business to: obey all rules,
regulations and laws, conduct themselves with honesty and integrity and to avoid all conflicts of
interests with the company business, report to work in condition to work and be free from the
influence of alcohol or drugs, respect the rights and deal fairly with all clients, keep honest and

High School Students Should Not be Granted Greater Privacy Rights on School Property
Safety is, the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury ( Dictionary
, n.d.). That is what locker searches provide for schools. With the early case of New Jersey v. T.L.O, a
teacher caught a 14 year old girl smoking a cigarette in the bathroom. This led the teacher to send the
girl to the principal in which the assistant principal decided to check her bag and locker for more
cigarettes or other contraband. The assistant principal found marijuana and a list of people that owed
the girl money. The teen took the school to court for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On account of lockers being the school s property it is legal for them to search them at any time under
the right circumstances.
With the use of proper search and seizure guidelines, schools are allowed to search students lockers
without a warrant. Lockers and backpacks are subject to search with reasonable suspicion. To search a
locker, a school staff member or police officer would have to have reasonable suspicion, probable
cause, and student consent in some cases (Ehlenberger). For reasonable suspicion to occur, the search
would be justified at its inception, meaning that there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that the
search will reveal evidence that the student has violated or is violating the law or school rules, and the
search is reasonably related in scope to the circumstances that justified the search, meaning that the
measures used to conduct the search are reasonably related to the objectives of the search and that the
search is not excessively intrusive in light of the student s age and sex and the nature of the offense
(Ehlenberger). Probable cause to search is when known facts and circumstances are sufficient to
warrant a man of reasonable prudence in the belief that contraband will be found (Ornelas v. United
States, 1996, at 696)

The Effects Of Modern Film On Our Rational And Critical...
In twentieth century Germany, Frankfurt School philosophers fiercely debated the effects of modern
film on our rational and critical thought processes. Max Horkheimer and Theodor Adorno assert film
is an oppressive technology that makes us intellectually docile, while Walter Benjamin contests their
assertion by recognizing film s liberatory potential. Although Horkheimer and Adorno make important
points about the current relationship between film and the masses, they fail to acknowledge any
possible changes to it. In the context of futurity, Benjamin presents a convincing argument the
technology of film can create subjectivities that will help the masses assimilate into modernity.
Horkheimer and Adorno s understanding of film reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kantian schematism expects us to, from the first, relate sensuous multiplicity to fundamental concepts
(Horkheimer 98). Film, however, leaves the consumer nothing... to classify, since the classification has
already been preempted by the schematism of production (98). Because modern film only presents
classified information (pre cut, pre chewed, and pre swallowed bits of information), there is no room
for individual interpretation and critique. Horkheimer and Adorno note how the spectator must need
no thoughts of his own: the product prescribes each reaction, not through actual coherence... any
logical connection presupposing mental capacity is scrupulously avoided (109). In prescribing the
narratives of each action and reaction, Horkheimer and Adorno argue film attempts to prevent
individuals from utilizing their mental faculties (rational and critical thought). That is, film forces the
masses into a state of mental lethargy solely for commercial pursuit of capital. Such is achieved by
overstimulation; film is a stimulant concocted by the experts which cannot escape the weary eye of the
viewer (110). Succinctly put, Horkheimer and Adorno detest modern film because it oppresses human
thought by means of sensorial overstimulation. In The Work of Art in the Age of Its Technological
Reproducibility, Benjamin recognizes the liberatory function film may have in

Abraham Maslow s Work On Social Psychology
Abraham H. Maslow was born on April 1, 1908 in New York City, and passed away on June 8, 1970
in California. Dr. Maslow received all three (A.B., M.A. and Ph.D.) of his degrees from the University
of Wisconsin. He was also the founding editor of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology and the
Journal of Transpersonal Psychology. (Professional biography, 1970, p. 98). As a graduate student
enthusiastic by the work of Alfred Adler and John B. Watson, Maslow became a dedicated behaviorist,
and pursued his socialistic and humanistic (Maslow, 2000, p. 129). From 1933 to late 1936, Dr.
Maslow spent most of his research on monkeys and primates, his topic of focus revolved around
motivation, hunger, social interaction, sexual behaviour, and learning and reproduction of learned
behaviours. In 1937, Dr. Maslow began his work on social psychology, and was a prominent figure
and founder of individual psychology as well. His focus during that time included personality and
culture, dominance, and personality and social behaviour in women. At the start of 1941, it was
evident that his works began to broaden and he delved into abnormal psychology, leadership, human
motivation, and developed his famous theory of self actualization in 1943 (Professional biography,
1970, p. 100).
In an interview with Dr. Maslow, when asked what was his reason for heading a third school of
thought in psychology (during that time), he said that, humanistic concerns were part of the reason, a

Lease A new car would be positive impression because the it could represent an image of success and
excellent business practice (Montoya, 2017).
Purchase As expected, the new vehicle would have a positive impression to customers. However, in
the long run, the car depreciates in value. An old and deteriorated car could give a negative signal to
customers regarding the company s business practice (Montoya, 2017).

Middle of the World, Territory of Complexity Essay
With current advancement involving technological, and biological warfare all over the earth, the world
can seem to resemble a ticking time bomb waiting to be detonated. All it would take is one rogue
nation to oppose a neighboring nation and provoke a terrible conflict, and other nations would have to
intervene. The conflict over territory is present in Israel and Palestine. This ancient feud will
apparently cause a world war if it is not solved, The Israeli Palestinian conflict can overflow onto the
rest of the surrounding nations, right into our very backyard, and it already involves U.S. Government.

The Israelis are known to protect there neighborhoods from incoming rocket propelled grenades.
Israel does certainly have the right to defend itself from the heavy opposition. It is a volatile situation
when any nation can cause violence for having different beliefs. Nonetheless the definition of one s
rights varies from different countries. Israel is outnumbered, yet still manages to survive, although, the
threat is not gone. Many nations surrounding the Jewish State condemn the close relationship between
the United States and Israel because the United States has contributed to the preservation of the Jewish
nation. The Arab resistance yearns to take total dominion over the west bank of Israel. Although Israel
is a small nation by itself, people opposing Israel say that the Israelis are nothing short of military
bullies. Israel is known for their military might and success in preserving there nation. Their defense
program is state of the art and far above other surrounding nations. Yet the potential of rogue nations
containing nuclear capabilities are substantial. Some of the Arabian fighters are not all radicalized but
are angered victims of having family members becoming casualties of war. Israel also while trying to
defend itself, occasionally contribute to the unfortunate casualty victims. Naturally they would oppose
Israel for taking away their sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, and also friends.

A Brief Look at Operational Amplifiers
Operational amplifiers (Op Amp) have been in use for quite a long a long time now in the field of
electronics and electrical engineering. A basic Op Amp has got three connections consisting of 1
output and 2 inputs. For definition purposes the two input terminals are called inverting and non
inverting inputs (Huijsing, 2011). Huijsing (2011) adds that it has been found and proven that when
the voltage at both points of the inputs is the same, there will be no output on the other side. The
image below shows an ideal Op Amp with the terminals shown. FIGURE 1 For an ideal Op Amp the
input impedance is infinite for the load and 0 for the source output so this means it can be used as a
buffer and an ideal source of voltage and current (Storr, 2014).Carter and Mancini (2009) noted in
their book that feedback is always necessary in this amplifier so as to reduce the gain because they
have an infinite gain (around a million) when the loop is open but this gain is dependent on the
amount of input voltage, so if we apply 0.000001V input the output will be 1V. Application of the Op
Amp in circuits is diverse but in this report two circuits will be covered namely the integrator and
differential circuit. INTEGRATOR CIRCUITS FROM OP AMP A basic mathematical definition of
integration is the main tool used to define this type of amp circuit. In other terms the input signal is
integrated so that the outcome is the output signal. This circuit is

Victims Of Disabled Homeless Veterans
It is not uncommon to see a homeless veteran holding a sign along the side of the road looking for
money, food, or anything that can help, and more often than not these veterans are disabled. A veteran,
someone who has served our country, put their lives before our own, panhandling along the side of the
road. Why is this happening, and how can we help to reduce the amount of disabled homeless veterans
in our society? We live in a free country, a country that allows others to fight for our freedom, yet we
allow these men and women to return home with little to nothing. It s becoming a social norm for
these disabled veterans to be homeless, one fifth of all homeless are veterans and we continue to allow
this to happen. War can be defined as armed conflict between nations or states or even different groups
within a nation or state. All these wars, approximately 14,000 in the past 5,000 years, take innocent
civilians away from their family, home, what they know for months or even years at a time. Often
times the conditions these individuals are living in while at war are far from the normal life they
previously lived. Vets often see and have to do certain task that no human being should be required to
do. Leaving behind a lot of mental repairing to do once back home. Once a war comes to an end, these
civilians are thrown back into a culture they have been away from for months, even years with little to

Krakow Research Paper
Only a few miles from Poland s second largest cities, Krakow, lies a nearly barren field with only a
moderate sized memorial to the thousands of people killed in a brutal act of genocide. Here, between
1941 and 1945, thousands of enemies of the Nazi party, primarily Jews, were worked, starved, died of
disease, or were shot. Out of the over 150,000 people sent through Plaszow and its sub camps, only
around 2,000 survived. From its establishment in 1941 to its liquidation in January 1945, thousands of
people lost their lives or were sent to their deaths in other camps. In the years before the German
occupation, the Jewish population of Krakow was usually around 70,000. After the Nazi conquest, the
Jews were persecuted relentlessly. Between May and December of 1941, 55,000 Krakow Jews were
forced into the countryside, and between 15,000 and 20,000 remaining Jews were housed in the newly
established Krakow Ghetto. In June of the same year, the Krakow Plaszow Forced Labor camp was

The Civil War was one of the darkest times in American History that lasted from 1861 to 1865. It was
a war fought primarily over the contrasting beliefs between the southern states who were pro slavery
and the northern states who were anti slavery. After the election in 1860 of Abraham Lincoln, the
sixteenth president of the United States, the southern states seceded and formed the Confederate States
of America. To this day, it is still unclear whether the southern states had any legal basis for seceding
but the fact of the matter is the federal government did not have any power to prevent them at the

Ecological Migrants would seem to make sense. However, with an understanding of the concepts and
their functions that have been discussed thus far, the consequences and results of the resettling of the
Hui Muslims, from the Ningxia Hui stand out boldly. The first concept that stands out in this article is
the moral panic that was created by the Chinese government. By using various reports that address
climate change, the Chinese government created reports that targeted impoverished communities,
convincing them that the land they were living on was unstable, and that they needed to move to new
land that would make them rich. The Chinese government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although colonization can be similar to imperialism, the reading, Colonialism, clarifies that,
colonialism is a practice of domination, which involves the subjugation of one people to another. In
the article it is clear that the Chinese government exerted dominance over the Hui people, taking what
they wanted with false promise and coercion. The houses of the Hui who did not leave were
demolished with a bulldozer, and those who did agree to relocate were charged $2,100 for a house and
land that was far below what was promised to them. In terms of clarifying the colonization of the Hui
land, and their relocation, the reading, Colonialism, points out, The term colony comes from the Latin
word colonus, meaning farmer. This root reminds us that the practice of colonialism usually involved
the transfer of population to a new territory, where the arrivals lived as permanent settlers while
maintaining political allegiance to their country of origin. This definition given in the reading,
Colonialism, speaks to the colonization of the Hui people as they are not only farmers, but were
coerced into giving up the land that they had farmed for decades and placed on new land, and later
coerced into leasing the new land to agricultural companies without a choice nor profit while
maintaining their allegiance to China. This is also a form of predatory capitalism and marginalization

  • 2. Essay about social polarisation Name: Course: Tutor: Date: Social Polarization in Latin America and the Carribean Introduction Social polarisation is the widening gap within a given society that emerges from income disparities within individuals causing various social groups, from high income to low income. It entails the expansion of jobs that require low skills while at the same time, jobs that require higher professionals and expertise still experience growth. There is a rising concern on issues of social polarisation and cohesion that stem from the observation that in many countries, societies maybe separating out into different groups. That concern is quite relevant in the Carribean and in Latin America, a region that records high levels of inequality and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rents have also gone up, and those residents who cannot keep up with the high rates move out of the favelas. The current socioeconomic disparities in Brazil, that of wide income levels between the rich and the poor, encourages the rapid growth of favelas. For instance, in Rio de Janeiro, political prisoners who have a good educational background remain in prison with drug dealers permitting them to create a criminal network that has excellent organizational structures. The syndicate that results, Commando Vermehlo, cunningly plans to expand social programs in the favelas using the proceeds of cocaine sales. By helping many of the poor favela residents, they gain a lot of support, which makes it challenging for the police subject the culprits to legal prosecution. Due to a rise in arrests by the police, the Commando Vermehlo came to a standstill and the favelas remained under the control of different drug dealers. Income disparities among residents living in favelas also encourage the trade of drugs since it is more profitable than honest labor. The rich also fuel conflicts in favelas by purchasing drugs and failing to push for changes that could improve the living standards in the favelas. What is the pacification project ? Why is the Brazilian government doing this? (4 points) The pacification project is a government project that aims at liberating slum dwellers that live in Rio by replacing the notorious drug gangs with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Beatriz Milhazes African American Art Style In this overview, I will be comparing Beatriz Milhazes art to African art. Beatriz Milhazes is from Brazil; she was born in 1960. She does paintings, prints, and architectural installations (Guggenheim). Her artwork is mainly geometric figures sort of like kaleidoscope. Most of her work is based on European and Brazilian art. Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, and Talsila do Amaral are three artists that influenced her to do art (Guggenheim). In the 90 s, Milhaze started doing a method of collaging art and this became her technique; most of paintings had geometric shapes, floral patterns, and used very bright colors(Widewalls). African patterns are very different from Milhaze s artwork. African patterns came from architecture, artifacts, masks and textiles (Contemporary African Art). Most of the patterns are repetitive, for instance, chevron and zigzag patterns are examples but geometric shapes are also repetitive. The geometric shapes are used in paintings, print, and many more. The geometric shapes pattern can be arranged horizontally or vertical. Some African patterns are also found in crafts and artifacts such as: baskets, jewelry, cravings, blankets, etc. ... • 4. School Clothes Essay School Clothes I strongly believe that children should come with an instruction manual in different languages, after all, even the most complicated computer system or VCR has a manual in three to four languages, or more. Granted, sometimes we can t understand the instructions, but we have them and sometimes even a toll free help line. Now some people would say their own parent would be the help line but not always does that work out. Our own parents advice can be, shall I say, out dated; for example, many would suggest to us new parents to tell our child, what we say goes, or stop that crying or I ll give you something to cry about, or do it because I m the parent and I said so, not the desired tone for positive interaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frankly, the whole exchange of dialogue is exhausting and I have given in more times than I d like to. I m sure that the lack of a Parenting Manual is not the reason for school uniform codes, but in my household uniforms certainly would make mornings easier. School uniforms have a multitude of rewards and benefits for both the parent and child and should be implemented in all elementary schools. The rewards and benefits far outweigh any negative connotations that opposing adults have. These benefits include: reduced headache and stress in the morning, reduced expense of clothing, increased focus on academics in the classroom, increased building of team spirit among classmates, and the, for lack of a better word, non discrimination on the popularity poll. I ll begin with exploring the morning ritual and the reward a uniform has on this process. Critics opposed to uniforms would say the solution to the miserable morning is to lay the clothes out at night, hence avoiding such conflicts. This idea sounds good at the outset; however, it just creates conflicts at bedtime so I haven t seen the advantages or solution to this nighttime ritual. On the other hand, the uniform idea poses some great alternatives; first the choices are limited, usually to a few shirts, sweaters, or sweatshirts, and one or two pairs of pants or shorts, and ... You are cruising along at about sixty five miles per hour in your late model SUV. This is a typical morning for you until an electronic beep from within your dash catches your attention. When you look at your gauges, you see the low fuel light shining bright and orange. As you think to yourself, I just filled this thing up a week ago, you glance up to see salvation in the form of a road sign: Gas, next exit. Thank you, you say, looking up. These are: · A Gasoline Engine endash; The gasoline engine on a hybrid car is quite similar to a typical car s engine. The difference between a typical gasoline engine and a hybrid s gasoline engine is that a hybrid s engine contains different technology that reduces emissions, and it is also much smaller. · A Fuel tank endash; Just like a typical car, the fuel tank is a large storage device for the gasoline that powers the engine. Gasoline is much denser than batteries. 1,000 pounds of batteries store about as much as one (seven pounds) gallon of fuel. · An Electric motor endash; This is the part of the vehicle that makes it a hybrid. Advanced electronics give the motor the ability to act as a generator and also power the transmission. When powering the vehicle, the motor will draw energy from a battery when need be. When it is a generator, the motor returns energy to the same batteries that were used to power the motor. · A Generator endash; On some hybrids (mostly series hybrids), a separate generator is used to return energy to the battery or power the electric motor and allow the battery to rest. · The Batteries endash; Like the fuel tank stores the energy for the gasoline engine, the batteries store the energy for the electric motor. · A transmission endash; A hybrid s transmission performs the same basic ... The film is narrated by Forest Whitaker reading from the book ?Hagakure? which segments the film into parts demonstrating the many codes that the samurai lives by; through his dedication to this book and meditation, Ghost Dog remains in control of his mind state and surrounding environment. This stands apart from the underworld of crime the film is set in. The genre of Gangster is typically the struggle of the hero type criminal against the rules of society within the American dream, rather than make the audience feel like the Mafia are good or bad it just makes a laughing stock of them, the film shows them as a bunch of old men, their time is passing, a kid in the Street taunts them, they are three months late on the rent of the head quarters and their use of violence is excessive. • 8. The Positive And Negative Impact Of Social Media And... Introduction Since the new phones are coming out with more and more accessibility to the internet from almost anywhere, social media has grown tremendously. Young teens have unlimited access to sites that influence how they dress, act and talk as well as what they talk about. Social media is not the only type, there are multiple types of media that can play roles in the lives of these adolescents. Mass media plays an intricate role in shaping the minds and ideas of the current adolescent generation in both positive and negative ways. The article Growing Up Wired discusses the impact that social networking sites have had on adolescents and their use of the sites. I hope to discover whether mass media has a positive or negative effect on adolescents by using its impacts and applying them to both sociological concepts of identity as well as groupthink. Media Usage In the article there are many staggering facts about how often social media sites are used and what adolescents are using them for. The article estimates that 11 18 year olds spend up to 11 hours a day on the social media sites and exposed to media via electronics. It is estimated that approximately 73% of adolescents are on social networking sites whether they meet the age restriction or not. The young people s parents are following the footsteps of them by starting to use the sits they see the adolescents on after the adolescents have started using it, this is a parallel to what was expected since these sites were originally adult oriented and created for an older audience. A majority of young people will wake up and check their social media profiles as well as check them again before going to bed at night. How that Impacts Day to Day Life The constant checking of social media and electronic sites can become interruptive to daily tasks. For things like paying attention in class the thought of checking social networking sites can be enough cause for distraction. Wondering whether you received any snapchats from people or how many likes your last picture got can be temptation enough to pull out a phone and check to see if you have notifications from your favourite sites. For both men and women, HIV prevalence increases with age and then declines. HIV prevalence is highest for women at age group 35 39 (46%) and for men at age group 40 44 (44%). Taking employment into consideration, employed individuals in Lesotho have higher prevalence of HIV than unemployed for both men and women. The prevalence among employed men and women is 39% and 23%, respectively and among unemployed men and women is 21% and 9%, respectively. The Importance Of Technology In WWII Technology played a very important role in WWII and the ability to have certain technologies was key to winning on the battlefield for both the United States and its allies. Most of the technology used in WWII were based on already existing technology, however a lot of it was changed and modified due to lessons learned from WWI and these advancements in technology helped America and it allies greatly during WWII. Advancements in medicine, transportation, and weapons played a major factor in the success of America and its allies in WWII by giving an upper hand to soldiers. Technological advancements played a key role on and off the battlefield, helping secure victories that were necessary for defeating German and Japanese forces in both theaters of WWII. Advancements in technology occurred mostly through the fields of medicine, mechanized transportation, and weapons. Most of the technology that we take for granted today can be directly traced back to WWII. Extensive amounts of research was preformed during this era and for the first time war efforts were directly aimed at disrupting the enemy s ability to preform research and develop new technologies. In modern day America we take antibiotics for granted and don t really think twice about the history, or what life was like before them. In the movie Zootopia, racial profiling and social stereotypes are allegorized into distinctive, discriminatory groups of predator prey and species archetypes such as slow sloths, sly foxes and dumb bunnies. Most reviews praised the movie s thematic portrayals of stereotypes (e.g. Telegraph, New York Times) and universal values of freedom and perseverance (e.g. Washington Post) within the film s narrative. But few reviews address Zootopia s exploration of variations of identity as noted by Screen Crush, and none displayed any in depth analysis of self. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Field Oriented Control FIELD ORIENTED CONTROL The main drawback of sinusoidal commutation is that the motor currents are controlled which are time variant and thus PI controllers have to operate on limited bandwidth. Thus controllers are not subjected from time variant currents and voltages and limitation of controller frequency response and phase shift on motor speed and torque is eliminated. Using Field Oriented Control, current control is largely unaffected by speed of rotation of the motor[6].In the scheme of filed oriented control motor currents and voltages obtained from the motor are transformed into d q reference frame. When people refer to a brand principle in business, they are referring to the rule a company lives by, or an aspect of the company or its products. It is a company s way of saying, We stand for this, and your brand focus should be a similar thing. It is similar (but not the same) because you need to show people what you stand for, but you also need to highlight something specifically terrific about yourself. Tip Think of yourself as selling a service instead of selling a product. The service is your time and expertise. Creating a brand friendly title Your title needs to in some way reflect your brand focus. It doesn t have to state it overtly, and it may look at little tacky if you do, but it should give readers a hint around what to expect. The biggest mistake that people make is to state their current job in their title/headline. For example, your brand may be that you are an exemplary biomedical scientist who deals with fecal matter. However, you may currently be working as a meter maid since having your baby. Some users would make the mistake of writing that they were a meter maid in the title/headline. Prior to the Civil War, the North consisted of business owners and middle class men. The South consisted of mostly farmers. The North was industrial, using railroads and factories. The South was agricultural, with mostly farms and plantations. The North paid their labor workers. The South used slaves. These Southern authors believed that the North s anti slavery movement was a ploy for economic prosperity. • 32. Middle of the World, Territory of Complexity Essay With current advancement involving technological, and biological warfare all over the earth, the world can seem to resemble a ticking time bomb waiting to be detonated. All it would take is one rogue nation to oppose a neighboring nation and provoke a terrible conflict, and other nations would have to intervene. The conflict over territory is present in Israel and Palestine. This ancient feud will apparently cause a world war if it is not solved, The Israeli Palestinian conflict can overflow onto the rest of the surrounding nations, right into our very backyard, and it already involves U.S. Government. The Israel and Palestine conflict truly does affect us all whether we realize it now or later. Many former U.S. leaders have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Israelis are known to protect there neighborhoods from incoming rocket propelled grenades. Israel does certainly have the right to defend itself from the heavy opposition. It is a volatile situation when any nation can cause violence for having different beliefs. Nonetheless the definition of one s rights varies from different countries. Israel is outnumbered, yet still manages to survive, although, the threat is not gone. Many nations surrounding the Jewish State condemn the close relationship between the United States and Israel because the United States has contributed to the preservation of the Jewish nation. The Arab resistance yearns to take total dominion over the west bank of Israel. Although Israel is a small nation by itself, people opposing Israel say that the Israelis are nothing short of military bullies. Israel is known for their military might and success in preserving there nation. Their defense program is state of the art and far above other surrounding nations. Yet the potential of rogue nations containing nuclear capabilities are substantial. Some of the Arabian fighters are not all radicalized but are angered victims of having family members becoming casualties of war. Israel also while trying to defend itself, occasionally contribute to the unfortunate casualty victims. Naturally they would oppose Israel for taking away their sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, and also friends. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. A Brief Look at Operational Amplifiers Operational amplifiers (Op Amp) have been in use for quite a long a long time now in the field of electronics and electrical engineering. A basic Op Amp has got three connections consisting of 1 output and 2 inputs. For definition purposes the two input terminals are called inverting and non inverting inputs (Huijsing, 2011). Huijsing (2011) adds that it has been found and proven that when the voltage at both points of the inputs is the same, there will be no output on the other side. The image below shows an ideal Op Amp with the terminals shown. FIGURE 1 For an ideal Op Amp the input impedance is infinite for the load and 0 for the source output so this means it can be used as a buffer and an ideal source of voltage and current (Storr, 2014).Carter and Mancini (2009) noted in their book that feedback is always necessary in this amplifier so as to reduce the gain because they have an infinite gain (around a million) when the loop is open but this gain is dependent on the amount of input voltage, so if we apply 0.000001V input the output will be 1V. Application of the Op Amp in circuits is diverse but in this report two circuits will be covered namely the integrator and differential circuit. INTEGRATOR CIRCUITS FROM OP AMP A basic mathematical definition of integration is the main tool used to define this type of amp circuit. In other terms the input signal is integrated so that the outcome is the output signal. This circuit is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Victims Of Disabled Homeless Veterans It is not uncommon to see a homeless veteran holding a sign along the side of the road looking for money, food, or anything that can help, and more often than not these veterans are disabled. A veteran, someone who has served our country, put their lives before our own, panhandling along the side of the road. Why is this happening, and how can we help to reduce the amount of disabled homeless veterans in our society? We live in a free country, a country that allows others to fight for our freedom, yet we allow these men and women to return home with little to nothing. It s becoming a social norm for these disabled veterans to be homeless, one fifth of all homeless are veterans and we continue to allow this to happen. War can be defined as armed conflict between nations or states or even different groups within a nation or state. All these wars, approximately 14,000 in the past 5,000 years, take innocent civilians away from their family, home, what they know for months or even years at a time. Often times the conditions these individuals are living in while at war are far from the normal life they previously lived. Vets often see and have to do certain task that no human being should be required to do. Leaving behind a lot of mental repairing to do once back home. Once a war comes to an end, these civilians are thrown back into a culture they have been away from for months, even years with little to no direction on where to start to build their lives again. • 35. Krakow Research Paper Only a few miles from Poland s second largest cities, Krakow, lies a nearly barren field with only a moderate sized memorial to the thousands of people killed in a brutal act of genocide. Here, between 1941 and 1945, thousands of enemies of the Nazi party, primarily Jews, were worked, starved, died of disease, or were shot. Out of the over 150,000 people sent through Plaszow and its sub camps, only around 2,000 survived. From its establishment in 1941 to its liquidation in January 1945, thousands of people lost their lives or were sent to their deaths in other camps. In the years before the German occupation, the Jewish population of Krakow was usually around 70,000. After the Nazi conquest, the Jews were persecuted relentlessly. Between May and December of 1941, 55,000 Krakow Jews were forced into the countryside, and between 15,000 and 20,000 remaining Jews were housed in the newly established Krakow Ghetto. In June of the same year, the Krakow Plaszow Forced Labor camp was established in Plaszow, a suburb of Krakow. Subsequently, deportation began, with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes entire truckloads would be shot and covered over, just increasing the size of the hill. If one survived the entry into the camp, the survival rate was incredibly low. • 36. Civil War Sanitation The Civil War was one of the darkest times in American History that lasted from 1861 to 1865. It was a war fought primarily over the contrasting beliefs between the southern states who were pro slavery and the northern states who were anti slavery. After the election in 1860 of Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the United States, the southern states seceded and formed the Confederate States of America. To this day, it is still unclear whether the southern states had any legal basis for seceding but the fact of the matter is the federal government did not have any power to prevent them at the time. The conflict during the Civil War was whether slavery was morally acceptable but the main reason for the war was states rights to own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teaching Plan After identifying children under the age of five as a population at risk for obesity, the decision was made to educate both these children and their parents on nutrition and exercise to help prevent obesity. This teaching is part of the process of health teaching and health promotion, which can provide patients with the opportunity to identify needed healthcare promotion, disease prevention, and self management topics (ANA, 2015, p.65). This process of health teaching and learning takes into account the developmental level of the patient, as well as their learning needs, their readiness and ability to learn and many other factors (ANA, 2015, p.65). Further research was conducted in order to select an appropriate intervention for each group. As part of the process of health teaching and health promotion, the registered nurse uses technologies to communicate health promotion and disease prevention information (ANA, 2015, p.65). In the article Please Like Me: Facebook and Public Health Communication , it is mentioned that public health organizations have recently recognized that they can utilize social media sites such as Facebook to engage their target population (Kite, Foley, Grunseit Freeman, 2016). Kite et al. further describe the benefits of using social media for health communication, which include the ability to make health information more available, sharable, and tailored; to provide peer, social, or emotional support; and to influence health policy (2016). Also, the public is often open to the idea of receiving health information through social media. Using social media sites as communication techniques has been shown to be effective in public health promotion of things like tobacco control, where they have been shown to influence attitudes, knowledge, and behavior change (Kite et al., 2016). Using this knowledge, the decision was made to develop a Facebook page for the parents, which would include daily tips, facts, quizzes and more regarding nutrition and exercise. Resettling China s Ecological Migrants Summary Without an understanding of the concepts associated with this course, the article Resettling China s Ecological Migrants would seem to make sense. However, with an understanding of the concepts and their functions that have been discussed thus far, the consequences and results of the resettling of the Hui Muslims, from the Ningxia Hui stand out boldly. The first concept that stands out in this article is the moral panic that was created by the Chinese government. By using various reports that address climate change, the Chinese government created reports that targeted impoverished communities, convincing them that the land they were living on was unstable, and that they needed to move to new land that would make them rich. The Chinese government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although colonization can be similar to imperialism, the reading, Colonialism, clarifies that, colonialism is a practice of domination, which involves the subjugation of one people to another. In the article it is clear that the Chinese government exerted dominance over the Hui people, taking what they wanted with false promise and coercion. The houses of the Hui who did not leave were demolished with a bulldozer, and those who did agree to relocate were charged $2,100 for a house and land that was far below what was promised to them. In terms of clarifying the colonization of the Hui land, and their relocation, the reading, Colonialism, points out, The term colony comes from the Latin word colonus, meaning farmer. This root reminds us that the practice of colonialism usually involved the transfer of population to a new territory, where the arrivals lived as permanent settlers while maintaining political allegiance to their country of origin. This definition given in the reading, Colonialism, speaks to the colonization of the Hui people as they are not only farmers, but were coerced into giving up the land that they had farmed for decades and placed on new land, and later coerced into leasing the new land to agricultural companies without a choice nor profit while maintaining their allegiance to China. This is also a form of predatory capitalism and marginalization also affects the intersectionalities of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
