Which Of Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey By...
Wordsworth, considered the greatest Romantic poet. Going against traditional poetry with his good
friend Coleridge which was proper style, proper words, with subject matter. They defied it the used
witty figures of speech, effusive praise with tragic complaints, oh the audacity. Since they did this
though they helped build the RomanticismMovement. One of Wordsworth s poems is Lines
Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey or for short Tintern Abbey. This poem is about
Wordsworth s trip after 5 long years back to an old, abandoned Abbey in Wales with his sister
Dorothy. He tells us about the present of being there, to the past when he first came to this
abandoned Abbey, back to the present talking to his sister about it and the future.... Show more

Feelings is important which I consider the most important because without feelings we would
be emotionless beings which would be horrible and just not human (who wants to be a robot
anyway?). This Abbey brings out the feelings of peace and just all joy and this relief of being
here once again as he had before. This is important because he describes what this old worn
down abandoned Abbey makes him feel, like no other place has done before. Everyone has
feeling whether or not they like it it s what makes us different from robots. He goes into great
detail about how this Abbey makes him feel and he hopes that this Abbey has the same effect with
his sister that it brings some sort of peace to her and just calm and relaxing away from all other
feelings around other things with human

Should College Athletes Be Paid Essay
College athletes being paid to play, good or bad? This would be for the athletes that are going to
be competing at the Division 1 level. According to NCAA s official website a study was done
and the stats showed that the highest percent of all athletes that would play D1 was 12.3%
which was for lacrosse. The highest percent that the students would go play at the highest level
which is Division 1 is .7% which is for volleyball. This is a very small amount of student athletes
that get to go n to the next level of play and maybe to the professional league. So it would make
sense that the athletes that are able to play at the highest level should be paid to do whatever
sport it is that they are playing. People argue that the D1 athletes kinda get paid by the full ride
scholarships that they receive. Well the athletes who play in the pros make money so why shouldn
t the players who play at the highest level be paid in the lower bracket of competition. One of the
main reasons that they consider that college athletes be paid is due to the workload of the... Show

So, not only would they have to pay the athletes but they would have to pay the other students that
attend the university. The other students still make money there such as working for the school.
So the sports teams that get paid are making the school money so they are doing there job. People
think that these athletes should not be paid and should only receive scholarships. If you really
think about it though, giving a student a scholarship is paying them. The university is giving the
athlete a portion or the whole price of tuition just to attend and play for them. That is paying the
athlete because the athlete doesn t have to pay for school whereas some who just chooses to go
there and pay. The athlete has earned their spot by working hard and the university is rewarding

Prohibition In The United States During The Roaring 20 s
In an era where the united states was slowly building itself back up form the first world war and
trying to establish themselves as a not only a nation but individual people within, the roaring 20 s
came abbrod. The roaring 20 s was a time where the econnomy boomed and people started to
recreat themselfes deffeying traditional standard for themselves. In the midst of the many political
events came to light, one of these was known as prohibition, new set of laws forbibbing the selling
and manufactoring of any type of alcholic beverage. Prohibition was able to drastically impact the
livlyhood of all americas during the roaring 20 s, even before it was passed with just the ammount
of support for it, the aftermath of the passing of the 18th ammentdment, and the enforcment of the

The early 1900s included a social trend building in the public view toward prohibition of alcohol
that manifested itself in the form of the temperance movement.5 This movement was led greatly by
the Anti Saloon League and the Women s Christian Temperance Union, who believe prohibition
could solve many of the problems that had been left behind from the social causes of the
progressive union.2 Many women advocated throughout the use of science that alcohol was bad for
health , and that it corroded family life and weakened society. 1 Industrialist also supported
prohibition because they were concerned about what drinking could do to a factory s productivity

insurance you have it not because you want something to happen but because you know that things

to the war on drugs and the war on terrorism, for that they have the illegal immigration policy and
the pros and cons (www.kyma.com/news/securing america/646148044.). After decades of just
being a category of police but finally they became part of the homeland security on november, 25,
2005, homeland security was created to help prevent such acts as 9/11, or the attack on the
oklahoma city bombing, from happening from another country. The united statesborder patrol was
created to help stop the drug trafficking and weapon trafficking into the united states. The

The Department of Customs and Border Patrol has control over almost all of the illegal
immigration policy (IIP) in the united states although the Coast Guard and a few other agencies
have control over their own type of illegal immigration policy. According to cbp.gov, Since its

Battle Of Ap Bac Essay
The Battle of Ap Bac The battle of Ap Bac was a small battle engaged between the Army of the
Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and the insurgents, or the People Liberation Armed Forces (Viet
Cong AKA VC) with the assistance of American s weapons and advice during the Vietnam War.
It took place on 2 January, 1963, near a small village named Ap Bac which is located
approximately 65 km southwest of Saigon in the Mekong Delta. (Starry, 2002). As a senior
leader, it is important that we have to be technically and tactically proficient. In order to be
proficient, we not only need to be trained, but also we have to know how to gain experience from
past battles in history using battle assessment, and critical thinking process to study the battle. That
way, we know what needs to be improved, how to sustain it, and how would we execute it better
next time. Therefore, studying the history of the battle of Ap Bac will enhance the knowledge of
how the commanders used the most effective and efficient method for applying decisive action on
the battle field. It would be a successful outcome for the South Vietnamese ARVN, and Kennedy s
administration would have gained more trust from American people for the presence of American
troops in Vietnam, if the American advisers and the ARVN s commanders would have integrated
intelligence preparation of the battlefield (ITP) throughout the operations process to identify the
gaps of intelligence between human intelligence (HUMINT),

Why is Makita outselling Black and Decker 8 to 1 in an account that gives them equal shelf

suppliers who had strengths in particular product(s) e.g. Skil provided good circular saws. b.
Home Depot strategy of stocking 30K items at prices 30% less compare to traditional hardware
stores with superior customer service helped Makita to gain marketplace dominance. Makita

market products under DeWalt s brand in addition to existing B amp;D products. This would not
hurt existing market share by much and there is great potential of taking away market share from

John Brown had an ordinary life before he became embroiled in the antislavery movement.
Brown was born in 1800 and he grew up in Ohio. Due to him working with his father in a tannery,
he later wanted to start one of his own when he was seventeen. The young man soon master the
rural arts of farming, tanning, surveying, home building, and animal husbandry, but his most
conspicuous talent seemed to be one for profuse and painful failure. (Chowder, 333) When he
was twenty, he got married, but later became a widower due to his wife passing away eleven
years after their marriage. However, he got married again and became the father of twenty children,
in which only eleven were able to make it to adulthood. Brown invested money for his tannery, but

Brown watched as his followers were attacking them by slicing their heads and arms. Doyle was
then shot in the head by Brown. Brown and the other abolitionists went to other homes and killed

Florida Divorce Case Study
47487 Determining Dependency: What Florida Courts Consider During Divorce Cases
Divorce hurts wives and husbands. Grieving the dreams of what could have been and hashing out
the reality of what is cuts deep. While divorce impacts all parties involved, Florida courts strive to
protect those caught in the middle the children. This noble position can be muddied by various
factors, but Florida law works to make solutions to custody issues clear.
DEPENDENCY DETERMINATION
Dependency in Florida divorce cases is awarded to the parent with whom the child resides most of
the time. This measure considers the number of nights a child lives with each parent throughout the
year. While exceptions account for unusual circumstances, generally, the parent... Show more

Again, the court s role remains to advocate for the best interest of the child. The following areas
may be considered in determining dependency:
Health and Safety
The basic rights to a healthy, safe home for children of divorce are protected in Florida courts.
Alterations to the shared parental responsibility stance occur when evidence of potential or real
harm to the child exists. Domestic or sexual violence, child abuse, abandonment or neglect fall
within this category. Plus, diminished parental mental or physical health, or substance abuse in the
home effect dependency determinations.
Emotional and Developmental Needs
As the court strives to put the child s needs and best interests at the heart of decisions, so it
expects of parents. Looking at proof of each parent s ability and desire to provide for developmental
needs and be active in the child s life becomes part of the process. Evidence the court finds useful
includes a parent s:
knowledge of the child s friends, teachers and medical care providers
awareness of the child s routines, activities and favorite things

Muscle Fatigue Essay
Contrary to what was long thought, muscle fatigue is not due to the accumulation of lactate in our
muscles. Indeed, it is the concentration of H + protons and not the lactate concentration which
intervenes in the acid base modifications responsible for fatigue. Moreover, we know that the most
important production of this latter, results from the hydrolysis of ATP and not glycogenolysis.
However, muscle fatigue depends on many factors and in our time, is still not very well understood.
Indeed, in vitro, the accumulation of H + protons leads to a significant decrease in the cellular pH
(7 в†’ 6) which inhibits the activity of the enzyme regulating glycolysis: phosphofructokinase or
PFK. But in vivo the add of inorganic phosphate (Pi), ADP, AMP... Show more content on

Moreover, always in vitro, this inhibition would entail the stopping of the glycolysis and
consequently the stopping of the synthesis of the ATP, thus a decrease in the contractile force,
synonymous with functional incapacity. Then, the protons would compete with the calcium ions,
preventing them from interacting with the troponin calcium sites. Under these conditions, the
removal of the inhibition exerted at rest by the troponin tropomyosin complex on the formation of
the actomyosin bridges could not be realized: the muscular contraction could not therefore take
place. However, in vivo, two to three minutes of rest are sufficient for the muscle to regain its
functional capacity after stopping by exhaustion following intense exercise causing a large drop in
pH.
Second, lactate is often mistakenly accused of causing muscle cramps. In fact, cramps are caused
by mineral deficiencies or hydromineral imbalances. Indeed, if it was because of the lactate
concentration, every time you do some sports you would be prone to cramps. It is

Carbohydrate Rearing Research Paper
Carbohydrate loading is probably one of the most misunderstood terms in sports nutrition. People
commonly think anyone involved in sport needs to carb up and the way to do this is to eat flat
out in the days leading up to an event. Carb loading can be effective and contribute to optimal
performance as long as it s completed the right way.
Carbohydrate loading is a strategy commonly followed by many athletes before an endurance
competition to increase muscle glycogen storage (Benrdat, 2012, p. 163). The general technique is
to gradually increase carbohydrate and fluid intake each day, beginning the week before
competition, while exercise is tapered downward (2012, p. 163). This reasonable, safe strategy
maximizes glycogen storage (2012,

Finally, methods of mitigation will be examined and critically evaluated based on their potential to
halt the effects of carbon dioxide on climate change.
Climate change is a large scale change in the planet s weather systems or its average temperature.
The Earth s climate may change within varying timescales in response to natural factors. On the
scale of tens of thousands of years the climate changes through glacial and interglacial periods;
whereas it changes through the timescale of years occurs due to the effects of El NiГ±o and La
NiГ±a which temporarily change the Earth s temperature and regional scale weather patterns. (Met
office, 2015)
Carbon dioxide is a minor component of the Earth s atmosphere accounting for approximately
0.04%. Despite carbon dioxide s relatively low atmospheric concentration, it s believed that it is the
most important long long lived forcing of climate change in the atmosphere. (Pachauri Reisinger,
2007)
The Carbon Cycle
The measurement of atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been measured
directly since 1957. Prior to 1957, atmospheric concentrations and isotope records consisted of
evidence from ice cores, moss cores, packrat middens, tree rings, and measurements of isotope
ratios in planktonic and benthic foraminifera. Out of the methods discussed, ice cores are by far the
best method for obtaining past

The Pros And Cons Of The Philippine American War
At the end of the nineteenth century, America had just come out of the Civil War and walked into a
stage involving many foreign affairs with other countries. After the Reconstruction era, America
underwent its stage of isolationism and intended to stick to it, however, as industrialization began,
the idea of manifest destiny arose once again. With that, America would then begin to annex other
locations of the world, such as the islands of Hawaii and the Philippines. America would dominate
the Philippines after a splendid little war with Spain. America had intended to remain neutral
during the first world war, also known as the war to end all wars conceived by European disputes

The unit was led by future president Theodore Roosevelt and consisted of cowboys, Native
Americans, and ex convicts. Roosevelt was described as a man s man and had proficiency in

government, with the inclusion that most politicians were dominantly male.
America s foreign relationships were strictly economic based during the beginning of the twentieth
century. America continued to maintain its trading system and eventually resulted in the economy
becoming a rival to global power. This path continued throughout the first world war in 1914 as
America held a neutral status during the quarrel. However, conflicts were still present such as the

Donald Trump Racism
If you had told me in 2002 that 15 years later Donald Trump would be president, Kid Rock would

would have laughed you out of the room. This sounds more like content for an SNL skit than
reality. But, here we are; Truth really is stranger than fiction.
A few days ago, new political activist and rapper Eminem, let out some rage towards Donald Trump
in a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm on the BET Hip Hop Awards. If you are familiar
with Eminem, it shouldn t surprise you that there is fair amount of vulgarity and graphic imagery
in the video. So, proceed with caution to the link above. While he covers quite of bit of ground in
his video, for the sake of this article I want to focus on just one topic: racism. Despite wild
popularity and support from fans and trump haters, I think this video does more harm than good
towards resolving the problems of racism in our country.
In some of the most scathing lines, Eminem blasts President Trump as a racist 94 year old
grandpa and draws a line in the sand. In almost battle like terms, he demands his fans to decide
who you like more Eminem or President Trump. He even addresses the undecided, if you can t

with this. He then makes an obscene gesture towards the camera.

Characteristics Of An Anglo-Saxon Hero In Beowulf
Debi Mazar once said, A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who tries to
give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and
someone who really deeply cares. In Beowulf, the Unknown Author of this Anglo Saxon poem,
explains the battle between good and evil. An Anglo Saxon Hero is someone who is loyal, who
has honor and respect, they don t do things for rewards because they ll have that sense of justice
which is just as good. They are never concerned with themselves but the wellbeing of everyone
around them and that s what makes them so great, their selfless acts change lives for the better.
Beowulfexemplifies the characteristics of an Anglo Saxon Hero because he shows bravery and
courage in a way nobody else does, he is honored by all and is beyond selfless.
First of all, Beowulf shows courage and bravery on his way to find Grendel and battle him. He
runs after him to find out where Grendel is going and why he won t let him battle, this shows
bravery because most people don t run towards danger and Beowulf did exactly that. Beowulf
runs towards danger throughout the entire poem, for example in the text it says, Have watched
me rise from the darkness of war. Dripping with my enemy s blood. I drove five great giants into
chains, chased all that raced from the earth, I swam in the blackness of night, hunting monsters
out of the ocean and killing them one by one. (247 254). This is a great quote because it shows
how it takes a great amount of bravery to battle someone that has greater than or equal strength
compared to himself,(Beowulf) with it being night time it was hard to see let alone battle
monsters. Another example of Beowulf showing courage is when he says, He needs no
weapons and fears none. Nor will I. My lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go
where my feet were afraid to... (263 264) because this shows that he doesn t like an unfair fight
and believes whatever his opponent has to fight with he should have the same because that s what a
fair fight consist of.
Additionally, a person that has honor is someone who has an obligation to fulfil and they always
keep an agreement. At the beginning of the poem Beowulf was

Tim Burton Film Analysis
Tim Burton s Mastery of Cinematic Techniques It s good as an artist to always remember to see
things in a new, weird way (Burton). Tim Burton, since childhood, has been had been fascinated
with authors like Dr. Susses and poets like Edgar Allan Poe. Now as an adult, Burton has created
films that are very imaginative yet dark style to captivate his audiences attention. These films
will surely continue to be watched and enjoyed for many generations to come. In the films
Charlie in The Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride, Tim Burton uses
editing, lighting, and camera movement in order to create a mood that is haunting but at the
same time wondrous and amazing. Tim Burton uses numerous close up shots in the film Edward
Scissorhands, creating a mood of ominousness. When Edward (the main character) is talking to
another main character (Peg) in front of the can opener, right before the flashback, there is a
close up shot showing something will happen. Burton s use of the close up shot adds to the
scene by better showing Edward s facial expressions and how he is reacting right before the
flashback. By using the close up shot the audience can see how Edward is looking uneasy which
supports why the mood is ominous. As well as a close up shot, director Tim Burton uses eyeline
in the film Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, producing a calm and peaceful mood. When the main
character Charlie receives a coin from his bedridden grandfather to by a chocolate bar, he

Graffiti Is Vandalism
There s a lot of controversy today on whether Graffiti is a good thing or not. Graffiti has been
seen by many as a destruction of property, but it is a form of expression and an artistic thought that
should be allowed, per the First Amendment, as freedom of speech and not as breaking the law. I
personally believe that Graffitishould be legal. I don t believe it harms anyone or anything
depending on the location. I believe Graffiti has many issues that every individual looks at
differently. I think that Graffiti is looked at as Vandalism
because of the location that the artists
decide to put them in, and even the image of the actual painting itself. There a many different forms
of Graffiti, like Street Artand Subway Art. But most Graffiti problems become a problem because
no one listens to the people s opinions on location and how they feel about it being vandalism.
There are many different views on Graffiti being an art or not and I am going to talk about those
things today. I strongly believe that people think Graffiti is a crime because of the imagery and
placement of the art. I have read about people getting Graffiti mixed with tags. Graffiti is usually an

Look For It in Bonnie Jo Campbell s Short Story...
Look For It I have seen short story collections at garage sales, thrift stores, and bookstores. I have
never actually picked one up and read the front or the back covers. Short stories never interested
me for the simple fact of their being short. With Bonnie Jo Campbell s writing in her collection
American Salvage I can appreciate a story without the full beginning, middle, and end. Readers

Campbell writes realistic stories that will grip your bones. As the reader you might forget how

Michael Pollan Food Chain Analysis
All across america, cows are confined to crowded, almost prison like cells, with little to no regard
to their health. They are forced to eat food that includes such ingredients like manure, cement, or
even cow brains. This is one side of farming, but there is another. This farming has cows and other
animals living how they would in nature, across rolling hills and bright green grasses. This is the
essence of Local Sustainable farming. As defined in Michael Pollans award winning commentary
about the foodwe eat, The Omnivore s Dilemma, the Local Sustainable Food Chain, one of four
possible food chains, is characterized by not using pesticides, treating animals humanely, and
sustainably creating healthier organic food. Out of Michael Pollan s food chains, the Local
Sustainable Food Chain is the best for America as it is much less harmful to the environment and
lets animals live in their natural states.
The Local Sustainable Food Chain creates a healthier environment because the farmers work with
the land and animals in more natural ways and help the environment thrive. As shown by Polyface
Farms, a prime example of Local Sustainable farming, regular farming practices had created soil
that was either no longer fertile or had washed away. (Pollan 161) As Joel salatin, the owner of
Polyface, switched types of farming, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Administration Of Civil Law
The Administration of Civil Law
In 1996 Lord Woolf reconstructed his review on Civil Justice which led to the Access to Justice
Act 1999. There were a number of criticisms within the system and Lord Woolf s aim was to
reduce cost, delay and complexity within the system and increase access to justice. (Elliot Quinn,
2015).
There are currently 216 county courts that are solely concerned with civil work. Around 170 of
them are divorce county courts and have jurisdiction to hear undefended divorce and adoption or
guardianship cases. In the High Court, civil work, divorce and family matters still remain, though
there is a separate Family Court which was introduced in April 2014. Next is the court of Appeal,
followed by the Supreme Court. (i.b.i.d).
Question One:
Before a trial or case management begins, a case must first be allocated to one of the three tracks;
small claims, fast track or multi track. This will determine the future conduct of proceedings. In
order to determine which track would be the most appropriate the court gives questionnaires to each
party. The answers to the questionnaires will help to determine in which track the case would be
dealt with best.
If Harriet were to claim a value of ВЈ10,000 or less then this would be the small claims track. In
this procedure she would be advised to contact an experienced adviser, such as a Citizens Advice
Bureau, usually one close to her. In the outcome of most cases the court would not order for the

The Four Pillars Of The Dominican Order

Dominicans, also known as the Order of Preachers, are a Catholic religious Order founded by St
Dominic in 1216 and which still exists in over a hundred countries today. Whilst travelling through

Being involved in a community does not simply mean being present within it, but to also be
willing to share your life with other people. To Dominicans, community life should be a
celebration of unity despite diversity, and finding the common good. Dominicans are called to
share their lives with all people of the world, because God loves all people. By fulfilling the
pillars of prayer, study, and community, we are enabled to give service to the world. Giving
service involves preaching the Word of God, which is represented by how we serve others, as
well as who we are as individuals. Therefore, we are also called to look after ourselves. 3.Reflect

The Stylish Way Of Advertising
The stylish way of advertising As competition increases between automotive brands,
advertisement of their vehicles start to change. Each brand tries to draw everyone s attention
and persuade people into buying their vehicles. Some strategies consist of targeting specific
audiences and grabbing their attention with the use of action packed images. One particular
automotive brand that uses this strategy is the Toyota Motor Corporation, especially for the
newer models. To actually see this strategy we have to analyze some of their ads and their
components with greater detail. The first ad, published by the Toyota Motor Corporation to
advertise their family sedan, the Camry. Being one of the best selling sedans in the market, and
considering Toyota s Slogan: Let s Go Places , this ad really shows what they stand for. The
element of adventure and the way it was composited really attracts and grabs the attention of the
audience. To begin analyzing this ad, we first look at the objects that first grab our attention. In
this case, the wording in the left of the ad that says: THE BOLD NEW CAMRY . Under these
words it says: One bold choice leads to another Together, this first part leads me to look at the

For example, the histories of folk music and the blues reveal that there has always been theft.
Once the artist work is produced, it is in the public domain, and hence, copyright claim does not
hold, since when it comes to cultural influences, ownership is considered as the point of fools.
Today, our culture has been colonized by private propertyrights and the only solution for artists
who appropriate other peoples work rest with the legal concept of Fair Use These laws are
intended to allow free appropriation in certain cases of commentary and are the sole
acknowledgment within copyright law of a possible need for artistic freedom and free speech.
However, the principle of fair use is interpreted conservatively and is being held from many
infringers. The law must come to terms with the difference between artistic intent and economic
intent. Artistic freedom is more important for the health of society than the supplemental and
extraneous incomes derived from private copyright fees. They create art of police and control,
since no matter how the original intent of the copyright laws are, today, they are subverted to
censor resented works that suppress the public s need to reuse and reshape

Juliet s father is talking with Paris, who is in love with Juliet. This excerpt reflects both the
gender roles and the norms of marriage in Shakespeare s time. The woman , which is Juliet in
this case, does not have much of a say in her marriage, for marriage is more about gaining status
than love in this time. This fact can be reflected by the excerpt because Juliet doesn t even have
a say in the matter of her marriage and when it would be appropriate for her to marry.

fact that their love will actually lead to her death , and that she does die shortly after they get

Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions.
Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy.
Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that
take place inside the nucleus of the UraniumIsotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is
one attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some
believe nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce
energy; however, there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider;
ultimately, the detrimental effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the
cost it takes to produce the plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to
persuade one to turn away from using nuclear energy as a source of power.
The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents
between the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin). Multiple incidents jeopardized the health
of employees and near by citizens. Six of these incidents happened in the United States, five in
Japan, and three in the United Kingdom and Russia. Thirty five liters of highly enriched Uranium

Christians uphold the belief that theft is sinful, but those of corrupt beliefs aren t included in

The Evolution Of Young Earth Creationism
Young earth creationism is what most people mean when referring to creationism. This is primarily
due to the fact that the creationists most visible in the public eye during the creation evolution
debate were most likely to hold young earth creationist views. Additionally, the terms recent earth or
recent creation have been used to refer to this same position. These terms clearly define their
position as one in which the creation of the world occurred somewhat recently, that is, the world is
young. However, it obviously doesn t provide us with much information beyond that. To begin with,
how young is the world? In order to help answer this and other questions concerning young earth

The next point Nelson and Reynolds make is one of disagreement between young earth and
progressive creationists. Concerning the impact of the curse in Genesis 3, young earth creationists
typically view this point to be the entrance of all death and suffering to the world. Progressive
creationists, however, consider there to be a long period of time between the creation of the world
and the introduction of sin into the world. Because of this length of time, progressive creationists
consider animal death and suffering to have occurred long before the first humans sinned. The
question of animal death and suffering prior to the fall of mankind is one that will be discussed in
further detail when looking at the old earth positions
According to Nelson and Reynolds, the strongest point of contention between young earth and
progressive creationists is that of the flood. Young earth creationists generally view the account of
the flood as actually having occurred. Other positions, however, progressive included, consider it a
metaphor, or myth which has theological implications, but does not describe any actual historical
events.

Cooperation In The Godhead Research Paper
Cooperation in the Godhead
Based on our previous lecture we discussed about the Godhead it brought an understanding of how
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit cooperate. The Godhead demonstrates God s intra relationship by
expressing how the persons of the Godhead relate to each other, within the unity of being one
indivisible God. The purpose of this paper is to not only gather an understanding of the Trinitarian
theology, which is a Christ centered way of understanding who God is; however, it is to introduce
lessons through scripture reading so students can learn from seeing the Godhead as a pattern for
our lives.
In lecture 3 we discussed how the Father, son, and holy spirit cooperate in redemption and salvation,
therefore identifying the distinction instead of separation. In Matthew 3:16 17, scripture quoted:

As a developing civilian pilot and a future naval officer, naval air power is the most significant
aspect of the Navy. Since naval air power developed after numerous ship to ship altercations, it is

According to Professor Rubel, the Dean of Naval Warfare Studies at the Naval Warfare College,
Naval aviation has established and developed no separate theoretical basis for either its own
justification or employment (Rubel 64). Alfred T. Mahan strategies ranged from having complete

It is in fact Rear Garde. Kitsch is a style that has persisted, the form that emerged during the peak
of classical art, where the accuracy of depiction was the hallmark of good art. Kitsch does not
change, it remains the same, impervious to progress, resistant to new ideas. Kitsch is art
appreciated by the bourgeois and the simple folk. Before the industrial revolution, art and the
appreciation of art was a preserve of the rich. These people commissioned artists to produce
works, and the patrons would then display these works. The simpler folks would admire the
work for its beauty and accuracy of depiction, and also admire the patrons for their ability to
commission such a work. It was the true mark of culture. The industrial revolution however
resulted into increased resources for everyone. The artists were able to rely less on their patrons,
and thus gained freedom in their ideas and expression thereof, the simple folk were now able to
afford to buy paintings, and they did. However, understanding a work of art requires education,
time and freedom from the pressing constraints of life in order to ponder over the symbology,
technique and other aspects of a work. Industrialization resulted into increased levels of the
literacy, but imbued in the individual none of the culture that is necessary to appreciate art.
Therefore, kitsch developed. Works of art appeal only to the eye and leave no mark on the brain
or intellect. These works of art are so perfect, so detailed that they leave nothing to the imagination
of the audience. New bourgeois who have no concept of true art consume these works greedily
under the impression that they are cultured. But a true cultured person will revolt against Kitsch for

The Pros And Cons Of The Two Party System
John Adams, one of the founding fathers, wrote that There is nothing which I dread so much as
a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting
measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the
greatest political evil under our Constitution ( Quote by John Adams ). The Two Party system has
been around since the start of America. The Two Party system is a system that has two parties
that the government, or America in this case, has that lead the government or America. At the
current time, the two parties are the Republican and Democrat parties. It was created with the
idea that everyone can be represented within either of the parties. Even though it does create
some representation of the people, the two party system does not create an equal policy in
society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties,
does not allow the idea of having more than two parties, and because it doesn t represent everyone.

electoral system is the hostile terrain for third parties because the odds are in favor of the bigger
parties (Conray). The bigger parties over the years seem to have the upper hand within the
government, and especially within the elections.

Global Capitalism And Its Impact On The United States
It is not just the arbitrary concepts of capitalism which have a tendency to expand, under the
Marxist understanding of the state, capitalist states will make foreign policy decisions for the
benefit of global capitalism. The increased intervention by western states in the Marxist view is
about the sole purpose of the expansion of capitalismin the search of profit for the companies,
using the state as a mobiliser for action towards such an end. Mark Rupert brought forward a
case study of such imperialism in action, in the case of the US. Global capitalist activities
require huge amounts of energy, and the cheapest or most efficient form is petroleum. Despite
not being a democracy and not practising equality, or respecting human rights, all core values to
the US, Saudi Arabia remains one of the US s closest allies. If the actions of the US abroad
primarily concerned democracy promotion, human rights and core liberal values, this alliance
does not make sense, but when you use a Marxist lens, and consider that alliances are about
capitalism, you quickly understand why Saudi Arabia, a large producer of oil is a huge geopolitical
ally of the US. This also applies to explaining enemies, for example Cuba and Qaddafi s Libya.
Cuba on the one hand is one of the few countries which still ideologically rejects capitalism as a
form of organising society, which has resulted in a ban on all trade with Cuba. Alternatively,
Qaddafi, who was the leader of an oil rich Libya for many years

Ticketing for Small Amounts of Marijuana in Canada
The Conservative government is considering making legal changes the allow police to, instead of
laying charges, issue ticket to those caught with tiny amounts of marijuana. However, these legal
changes should not be interpreted as either a legalization or decriminalization of marijuana.
Rather they should be interpreted as additional enforcement measures that, should they need
them, are available to police officers. Likewise, there is good reason to believe that this novel
ticketing system would only apply to simple possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana.
Additionally, these tickets would function similarly to those administered for speeding, outlining a
fine or presenting a court option, also people who decide to go with the court option have the
ability to represent themselves or have legal counsel. However, even if the government appears to
be softening up when it comes to the legalities surrounding marijuana possession, it had not long
ago passed legislation that toughened laws regarding marijuana possession with the purpose of
trafficking, such as in the case of the 2012 Safe Streets and Communities Act. Furthermore, some,
like the NORML Women s Alliance of Canada, say that the purposed ticketing system does not go
far enough and is only a halfway measure. There are two legal issues related to this news article.
Should the federal government simply decriminalize marijuana and does the current criminalization
of marijuana hold any basis in ensuring public

Viterbo University Student Analysis
My plans for my junior and senior years at Viterbo University encompass continuing to strive as

plan to become more involved in SDA club (Student Dietetic Association). I would like to hold a

younger dietetics students. My biggest personal obstacle was transferring to Viterbo University

move back to where his family has their roots is because he started experiencing signs of severe
dementia. It turns out he was not exactly following a good diet for someone who is diagnosed
with diabetes, and he was not giving himself his regular insulin shots. After going into a nursing
home, his so called dementia started to go away. When he comes over for family gatherings, such
as Thanksgiving, we can all tell if he has had sweets or his insulin shot that day. It is so mind
blowing to me how a simple diet change is essentially what is changing

Epic Hero Changes
Maya Angelou once said, I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place
for all people. This may be true for modern times, but texts throughout the ages prove the
characteristics and morals of heros have changed over the years. While reading British Literature,
one becomes familiar with four main categories of heroes: the Epic Hero, the Romantic Hero, the
Tragic Hero, the Postmodern Hero.
An Epic Hero is the first hero in British Literature. The most important task of an Epic hero is to
seek out fame and glory. They will shed their own blood, kill anyone in their way, and complete
seemingly impossible tasks to earn honor from others. Another characteristic is their ability to boast
about themselves. An Epic Hero ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before. Most heroes are super strong and courageous. They face problems that one in modern
times would not face, like fighting for a throne or killing another for a woman s love. A
Postmodern Hero is not like that. They are not always courageous and normally their tasks and
problems are the same a one s own. A reader can now see themselves much easier in the
Postmodern Hero. This iconic style of hero can be found in Grendel by Gardner. In this story
Grendel, the monster, has some monster like characteristics and some human like
characteristics. He attempts to answer the question that many people are trying to solve to. This
is Who am I and where do I fit in? In this way Grendel relates to the reader. Also, he is in search for
love from his mother and tries to fill that void in her heart. All she knows how to do is hug him.
She is incapable of communicating with him. In this way Grendel s problems can also be
related to by the reader. Those in this time period seem to be more open to flaws. This society
realizes that everyone makes mistakes and not all heros are perfect. It is okay to be scared to do
something brave. It is okay to not look like others around you and it is okay to

Summary Of Hiroshima John Hersey
On August 6, 1945, the U.S. dropped the first atomic bomb, killing a hundred thousand people in
Hiroshima, Japan. In the book Hiroshima John Hersey tells the stories of six atomic bomb
survivors from the exact moment to the years following.
Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto was a Methodist pastor that on the day of the bombing jumped
between two large rocks for protection. He escaped with minimal wounds and went on a search
for his family towards the center of the city. Mr. Tanimoto felt ashamed of being uninjured while
others were either trapped, burned, or dead. After finding his wife and baby, they went their
separate ways and for the next five days Mr. Tanimoto aided the wounded in the Asano Park. He
helped bring water to them and ferried others across the river. On August 26th, Mr. Tanimoto fell ill
from radiation sickness and spent a month in bed and another month resting in his father s house.

Behavioral Change In Pilate
Although Pilate s behavioral change only lasted a scene, the intensity of racism in their
community is conveyed because the prejudice affects even the only survivor of racism. Because
Pilate s presence was required to bail Guitar and Milkman, she was forced to have direct
confrontation with the white police officers. The general superiority of the white police officers
caused Pilate s strong typical behavior to differ. Instead of her usual botherless attitude towards
racism, Morrison describes the change in behavior through a change in height. Pilate had been
shorter. As she stood there in the receiving room of the jail, she didn t even come up to the
sergeant s shoulder and the sergeant s head barely reached Milkman s own chin. But Pilate was as

the South, particularly during the racial struggles of the 1960s, confrontations between blacks

neighborhood in south central Los Angeles, an expression of deeply rooted grievances about the
economy and second class status among the city s segregated black community, was sparked by a
clash between blacks and the police who had pulled over a black woman suspected of driving
under the influence (Sugrue).Racial profiling in urban communities was very prevalent in the
1960s. Guitar and Milkman s situation with the police was therefore expected and seemed very
normal which shows the unfair treatment towards blacks. This racist act lead to the change in
Pilate s behavior because the police arrested them after finding Pilate s green sack. Although she

Essay on Odysseus Journey Home
During Odysseus journey back home to Ithaca, him and his crew encountered many evils and
troubles. Almost every one of these took at least one of his men. Scylla is an example of this.
This monster took six of Odysseus men while on the journey home. Nearly ever was it Odysseus
fault. His men caused most of the problems that haunted them back to Ithaca. His hardships started
when he was sent off to fight in the Trojan War. He had to fight because he had made an oath to
Helen s husband that he would always defend her honor. When Paris abducted Helen he was then
forced to fight. After he had fought for Helen and had left, the wind then swept him to the island of

Speak with an Engineer
When you are planning to make extensive modifications to the structure of your shipping container,
it can jeopardize the integrity of the entire unit. By consulting with a qualified engineer, you can
avoid these risks. It is well worth the investment to pose these questions to an expert beforehand,
rather than having major problems arise down the line that could make then entire structure unsafe
for humans.
Buy Your Containers
Since you have the design figured out, and have the safety of it verified by a professional, you are
ready for the next step, which is to purchase the containers. Depending upon where you purchase
them, this could take a few days or several months.
You should be aware that used containers have held unknown contents that may have seeped
contaminants into the structure. Of course, these are easier to find and are potentially more
affordable than new ones.
You can use the Internet to locate containers that are already available in your area. If possible,
inspect them before purchase. This is especially vital for used containers, which may have suffered

Analysis Of The Book The Devil
(Part the Third: Almost The End)
THE DEVIL IS IN THE SUBJECTIVELY OBJECTIVE DETAILS
When The Devil Went Down to Georgia looking to steal a soul, I found that I preferred the fancy
fiddle playing of Satan over the more mundane instrumental performed by Johnny! While
considered an unpardonable sin in Southern circles, this unabashedly conceited and conceded
musical bias on my part is my first consciously remembered lesson in subjectivity. Although
unquestionably ruining the general narrative of the song by the Charlie Daniels Band, give the
golden fiddle playing Devil his due, everything ultimately boils down to a case of subjective
opinion. So choose your side: Tea or Coffee; Diamond or Cubic Zirconia; Serving in Heaven vs.

And similar to one s musical preferences, taste in all its forms is a subjective choice and doubly
so with hors d Е“uvres. Nevertheless, my grape leaf, flat bread, and tabouli salad devouring Father
nonetheless married my Mother, even after learning of her Polynesian palate s predilection for fresh
fish eyes, sea cucumber intestines, and sea urchin roe. Moreover, to continue feeding her insatiable
seafood habit, he regularly and repeatedly dove deep, down to the ocean s black sandy fickle
bottom, to retrieve for her bГЄche de mer and sharp spined sea urchin all the while vainly
eyeballing her shapely, round okole! As a Lebanese American, the culturally dominant American

Beowulf a Poem Translated by Seamus Heaney Essay
In the poem, Beowulf, by an unknown poet, as translated by Seamus Heaney, we see many
monstrous behaviors. A few of the examples stand out more than the rest: wanton destruction, a
woman acting as a man, and the act of killing one s kin. Wanton destruction goes against the
ideals that governed the Anglo Saxon culture. The warrior kings had duties to uphold. We see
that they revered kings who would bring protection and give freely to the young and old and not
cause harm. One good illustration of this is the nature in which King Hrothgar dispensed his
wealth, he dispensed it to the needy and he didn t give away the common land or the people s
lives (71 73). In contrast we see Grendel, a descendent of Cain, depicted as being a demon,... Show

The lord vented his rage on the men he drank with and went as far as to murder his own friends
(1713 14).
Another representation of wanton and destruction is seen when Beowulf speaks about Ongentheow
s sons and how they , encompassed Hreasnahill with orchestrated surprise attacks on every given
opportunity, savagely crusading ,they were determined not to make peace, going from ever
wale road (10) entrance to the next (2475 78). Monstrous behaviors that are of the nature of
wanton destruction are determined by the motives of the one being violent, although violence
alone is not deemed monstrous but violence without a justified cause is, with the exception that
it is a man and not woman. Anglo Saxon culture accepted violence from a man, but when a
woman was violent the behavior was deemed monstrous. Queens had courtesies that they were
expected to observe such as being peace weavers, cup passers (613 15) and a balm to their battle
scarred Swede (62 63). They mourned the lost by crying and singing this is seen in the
performance by the minstrel who then ordered her own son s body (1118 1119).This was the
formal way for a queen to mourn. If there was a cause of death by violence then the avenging was
left to the king and his retainers.
Grendel s mom never paid any mind to their culture s ideas of what a woman s place was in their
society. She turned the idea upside down and inside out. Making every man and woman fear her,

  • 2. Which Of Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey By... Wordsworth, considered the greatest Romantic poet. Going against traditional poetry with his good friend Coleridge which was proper style, proper words, with subject matter. They defied it the used witty figures of speech, effusive praise with tragic complaints, oh the audacity. Since they did this though they helped build the RomanticismMovement. One of Wordsworth s poems is Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey or for short Tintern Abbey. This poem is about Wordsworth s trip after 5 long years back to an old, abandoned Abbey in Wales with his sister Dorothy. He tells us about the present of being there, to the past when he first came to this abandoned Abbey, back to the present talking to his sister about it and the future.... Feelings is important which I consider the most important because without feelings we would be emotionless beings which would be horrible and just not human (who wants to be a robot anyway?). This Abbey brings out the feelings of peace and just all joy and this relief of being here once again as he had before. This is important because he describes what this old worn down abandoned Abbey makes him feel, like no other place has done before. Everyone has feeling whether or not they like it it s what makes us different from robots. He goes into great detail about how this Abbey makes him feel and he hopes that this Abbey has the same effect with his sister that it brings some sort of peace to her and just calm and relaxing away from all other feelings around other things with human ... • 3. Should College Athletes Be Paid Essay College athletes being paid to play, good or bad? This would be for the athletes that are going to be competing at the Division 1 level. According to NCAA s official website a study was done and the stats showed that the highest percent of all athletes that would play D1 was 12.3% which was for lacrosse. The highest percent that the students would go play at the highest level which is Division 1 is .7% which is for volleyball. This is a very small amount of student athletes that get to go n to the next level of play and maybe to the professional league. So it would make sense that the athletes that are able to play at the highest level should be paid to do whatever sport it is that they are playing. People argue that the D1 athletes kinda get paid by the full ride scholarships that they receive. Well the athletes who play in the pros make money so why shouldn t the players who play at the highest level be paid in the lower bracket of competition. One of the main reasons that they consider that college athletes be paid is due to the workload of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, not only would they have to pay the athletes but they would have to pay the other students that attend the university. The other students still make money there such as working for the school. So the sports teams that get paid are making the school money so they are doing there job. People think that these athletes should not be paid and should only receive scholarships. If you really think about it though, giving a student a scholarship is paying them. The university is giving the athlete a portion or the whole price of tuition just to attend and play for them. That is paying the athlete because the athlete doesn t have to pay for school whereas some who just chooses to go there and pay. The athlete has earned their spot by working hard and the university is rewarding them by paying for there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Battle Of Ap Bac Essay The Battle of Ap Bac The battle of Ap Bac was a small battle engaged between the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and the insurgents, or the People Liberation Armed Forces (Viet Cong AKA VC) with the assistance of American s weapons and advice during the Vietnam War. It took place on 2 January, 1963, near a small village named Ap Bac which is located approximately 65 km southwest of Saigon in the Mekong Delta. (Starry, 2002). As a senior leader, it is important that we have to be technically and tactically proficient. In order to be proficient, we not only need to be trained, but also we have to know how to gain experience from past battles in history using battle assessment, and critical thinking process to study the battle. That way, we know what needs to be improved, how to sustain it, and how would we execute it better next time. Therefore, studying the history of the battle of Ap Bac will enhance the knowledge of how the commanders used the most effective and efficient method for applying decisive action on the battle field. It would be a successful outcome for the South Vietnamese ARVN, and Kennedy s administration would have gained more trust from American people for the presence of American troops in Vietnam, if the American advisers and the ARVN s commanders would have integrated intelligence preparation of the battlefield (ITP) throughout the operations process to identify the gaps of intelligence between human intelligence (HUMINT), ... Why is Makita outselling Black and Decker 8 to 1 in an account that gives them equal shelf space? a. Makita provided a good baseline option in all major categories compared to other suppliers who had strengths in particular product(s) e.g. Skil provided good circular saws. b. Home Depot strategy of stocking 30K items at prices 30% less compare to traditional hardware stores with superior customer service helped Makita to gain marketplace dominance. Makita offered lower prices i.e. ~5% lower on average compared to B amp;D products. This also helped Makita to gain good perception from Tradesmen segment buyers as their product quality was reasonably good. 2. What should Joe Galli do? Why? c. I suggest to go with option 4 and use market products under DeWalt s brand in addition to existing B amp;D products. This would not hurt existing market share by much and there is great potential of taking away market share from Makita and other suppliers by launching products under a well reputable brand DeWalt in a different color. 3. This noble position can be muddied by various factors, but Florida law works to make solutions to custody issues clear. • 10. Muscle Fatigue Essay Contrary to what was long thought, muscle fatigue is not due to the accumulation of lactate in our muscles. Indeed, it is the concentration of H + protons and not the lactate concentration which intervenes in the acid base modifications responsible for fatigue. Moreover, we know that the most important production of this latter, results from the hydrolysis of ATP and not glycogenolysis. However, muscle fatigue depends on many factors and in our time, is still not very well understood. Indeed, in vitro, the accumulation of H + protons leads to a significant decrease in the cellular pH (7 в†’ 6) which inhibits the activity of the enzyme regulating glycolysis: phosphofructokinase or PFK. But in vivo the add of inorganic phosphate (Pi), ADP, AMP... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, always in vitro, this inhibition would entail the stopping of the glycolysis and consequently the stopping of the synthesis of the ATP, thus a decrease in the contractile force, synonymous with functional incapacity. Then, the protons would compete with the calcium ions, preventing them from interacting with the troponin calcium sites. Under these conditions, the removal of the inhibition exerted at rest by the troponin tropomyosin complex on the formation of the actomyosin bridges could not be realized: the muscular contraction could not therefore take place. However, in vivo, two to three minutes of rest are sufficient for the muscle to regain its functional capacity after stopping by exhaustion following intense exercise causing a large drop in pH. Second, lactate is often mistakenly accused of causing muscle cramps. In fact, cramps are caused by mineral deficiencies or hydromineral imbalances. Indeed, if it was because of the lactate concentration, every time you do some sports you would be prone to cramps. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carbohydrate loading is a strategy commonly followed by many athletes before an endurance competition to increase muscle glycogen storage (Benrdat, 2012, p. 163). The general technique is to gradually increase carbohydrate and fluid intake each day, beginning the week before competition, while exercise is tapered downward (2012, p. 163). Finally, methods of mitigation will be examined and critically evaluated based on their potential to halt the effects of carbon dioxide on climate change. Climate change is a large scale change in the planet s weather systems or its average temperature. The Earth s climate may change within varying timescales in response to natural factors. On the scale of tens of thousands of years the climate changes through glacial and interglacial periods; whereas it changes through the timescale of years occurs due to the effects of El NiГ±o and La NiГ±a which temporarily change the Earth s temperature and regional scale weather patterns. (Met office, 2015) Carbon dioxide is a minor component of the Earth s atmosphere accounting for approximately 0.04%. Despite carbon dioxide s relatively low atmospheric concentration, it s believed that it is the most important long long lived forcing of climate change in the atmosphere. (Pachauri Reisinger, 2007) The Carbon Cycle The measurement of atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been measured directly since 1957. Prior to 1957, atmospheric concentrations and isotope records consisted of evidence from ice cores, moss cores, packrat middens, tree rings, and measurements of isotope ratios in planktonic and benthic foraminifera. With that, America would then begin to annex other locations of the world, such as the islands of Hawaii and the Philippines. A few days ago, new political activist and rapper Eminem, let out some rage towards Donald Trump in a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm on the BET Hip Hop Awards. • 16. Characteristics Of An Anglo-Saxon Hero In Beowulf Debi Mazar once said, A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who tries to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and someone who really deeply cares. In Beowulf, the Unknown Author of this Anglo Saxon poem, explains the battle between good and evil. An Anglo Saxon Hero is someone who is loyal, who has honor and respect, they don t do things for rewards because they ll have that sense of justice which is just as good. They are never concerned with themselves but the wellbeing of everyone around them and that s what makes them so great, their selfless acts change lives for the better. Beowulfexemplifies the characteristics of an Anglo Saxon Hero because he shows bravery and courage in a way nobody else does, he is honored by all and is beyond selfless. First of all, Beowulf shows courage and bravery on his way to find Grendel and battle him. He runs after him to find out where Grendel is going and why he won t let him battle, this shows bravery because most people don t run towards danger and Beowulf did exactly that. Beowulf runs towards danger throughout the entire poem, for example in the text it says, Have watched me rise from the darkness of war. Dripping with my enemy s blood. I drove five great giants into chains, chased all that raced from the earth, I swam in the blackness of night, hunting monsters out of the ocean and killing them one by one. (247 254). This is a great quote because it shows how it takes a great amount of bravery to battle someone that has greater than or equal strength compared to himself,(Beowulf) with it being night time it was hard to see let alone battle monsters. Another example of Beowulf showing courage is when he says, He needs no weapons and fears none. Nor will I. My lord Higlac might think less of me if I let my sword go where my feet were afraid to... (263 264) because this shows that he doesn t like an unfair fight and believes whatever his opponent has to fight with he should have the same because that s what a fair fight consist of. Tim Burton, since childhood, has been had been fascinated with authors like Dr. Susses and poets like Edgar Allan Poe. Now as an adult, Burton has created films that are very imaginative yet dark style to captivate his audiences attention. These films will surely continue to be watched and enjoyed for many generations to come. In the films Charlie in The Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Corpse Bride, Tim Burton uses editing, lighting, and camera movement in order to create a mood that is haunting but at the same time wondrous and amazing. Tim Burton uses numerous close up shots in the film Edward Scissorhands, creating a mood of ominousness. When Edward (the main character) is talking to another main character (Peg) in front of the can opener, right before the flashback, there is a close up shot showing something will happen. Burton s use of the close up shot adds to the scene by better showing Edward s facial expressions and how he is reacting right before the flashback. By using the close up shot the audience can see how Edward is looking uneasy which supports why the mood is ominous. • 21. Michael Pollan Food Chain Analysis All across america, cows are confined to crowded, almost prison like cells, with little to no regard to their health. They are forced to eat food that includes such ingredients like manure, cement, or even cow brains. This is one side of farming, but there is another. This farming has cows and other animals living how they would in nature, across rolling hills and bright green grasses. This is the essence of Local Sustainable farming. As defined in Michael Pollans award winning commentary about the foodwe eat, The Omnivore s Dilemma, the Local Sustainable Food Chain, one of four possible food chains, is characterized by not using pesticides, treating animals humanely, and sustainably creating healthier organic food. Out of Michael Pollan s food chains, the Local Sustainable Food Chain is the best for America as it is much less harmful to the environment and lets animals live in their natural states. The Local Sustainable Food Chain creates a healthier environment because the farmers work with the land and animals in more natural ways and help the environment thrive. As shown by Polyface Farms, a prime example of Local Sustainable farming, regular farming practices had created soil that was either no longer fertile or had washed away. There are currently 216 county courts that are solely concerned with civil work. Around 170 of them are divorce county courts and have jurisdiction to hear undefended divorce and adoption or guardianship cases. In the High Court, civil work, divorce and family matters still remain, though there is a separate Family Court which was introduced in April 2014. Mahan strategies ranged from having complete and utter control of all movements across the sea, to having a large Navy that is capable of controlling and using force to either preserve our territories or deter enemies at all costs. Naval air power piggy backed off of Alfred T. Mahan s theories and strategies, and eventually composed three naval air power operations that seize, maintain, and exercise command of the sea/air (Rubel 64). Whether these operations are through long distance missile attacks, bombardments, or even land based amphibious attacks with the Marine Corps, NAVAIR has developed technology that allows the United States to be the world s most efficient, effective, and active ... More specifically, it comes off as a rant against the bourgeois and proletariat for failing to appreciate Avant Garde art and instead preferring to art he calls the rear guard art or Kitsch. This work was printed by the Parisian review during fall, 1939. The author, a blatant supporter of Avant Garde art defines it as the revolutionary style that was indicative of the progression of human thought and culture. Kitsch is a style that has persisted, the form that emerged during the peak of classical art, where the accuracy of depiction was the hallmark of good art. Kitsch does not change, it remains the same, impervious to progress, resistant to new ideas. Kitsch is art appreciated by the bourgeois and the simple folk. Before the industrial revolution, art and the appreciation of art was a preserve of the rich. These people commissioned artists to produce works, and the patrons would then display these works. The simpler folks would admire the work for its beauty and accuracy of depiction, and also admire the patrons for their ability to commission such a work. It was the true mark of culture. The industrial revolution however resulted into increased resources for everyone. The artists were able to rely less on their patrons, and thus gained freedom in their ideas and expression thereof, the simple folk were now able to afford to buy paintings, and they did. However, understanding a work of art requires education, time and freedom from the pressing constraints of life in order to ponder over the symbology, technique and other aspects of a work. Industrialization resulted into increased levels of the literacy, but imbued in the individual none of the culture that is necessary to appreciate art. Therefore, kitsch developed. Works of art appeal only to the eye and leave no mark on the brain or intellect. These works of art are so perfect, so detailed that they leave nothing to the imagination of the audience. New bourgeois who have no concept of true art consume these works greedily under the impression that they are cultured. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution ( Quote by John Adams ). The Two Party system has been around since the start of America. The Two Party system is a system that has two parties that the government, or America in this case, has that lead the government or America. At the current time, the two parties are the Republican and Democrat parties. It was created with the idea that everyone can be represented within either of the parties. Even though it does create some representation of the people, the two party system does not create an equal policy in society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties, does not allow the idea of having more than two parties, and because it doesn t represent everyone. First, the two party system does not create an equal policy in society because it does not allow people to get far if they are not within either of the two parties. • 42. Global Capitalism And Its Impact On The United States It is not just the arbitrary concepts of capitalism which have a tendency to expand, under the Marxist understanding of the state, capitalist states will make foreign policy decisions for the benefit of global capitalism. The increased intervention by western states in the Marxist view is about the sole purpose of the expansion of capitalismin the search of profit for the companies, using the state as a mobiliser for action towards such an end. Mark Rupert brought forward a case study of such imperialism in action, in the case of the US. Global capitalist activities require huge amounts of energy, and the cheapest or most efficient form is petroleum. Despite not being a democracy and not practising equality, or respecting human rights, all core values to the US, Saudi Arabia remains one of the US s closest allies. If the actions of the US abroad primarily concerned democracy promotion, human rights and core liberal values, this alliance does not make sense, but when you use a Marxist lens, and consider that alliances are about capitalism, you quickly understand why Saudi Arabia, a large producer of oil is a huge geopolitical ally of the US. This also applies to explaining enemies, for example Cuba and Qaddafi s Libya. Cuba on the one hand is one of the few countries which still ideologically rejects capitalism as a form of organising society, which has resulted in a ban on all trade with Cuba. Ticketing for Small Amounts of Marijuana in Canada The Conservative government is considering making legal changes the allow police to, instead of laying charges, issue ticket to those caught with tiny amounts of marijuana. However, these legal changes should not be interpreted as either a legalization or decriminalization of marijuana. Rather they should be interpreted as additional enforcement measures that, should they need them, are available to police officers. Likewise, there is good reason to believe that this novel ticketing system would only apply to simple possession of 30 grams or less of marijuana. Additionally, these tickets would function similarly to those administered for speeding, outlining a fine or presenting a court option, also people who decide to go with the court option have the ability to represent themselves or have legal counsel. However, even if the government appears to be softening up when it comes to the legalities surrounding marijuana possession, it had not long ago passed legislation that toughened laws regarding marijuana possession with the purpose of trafficking, such as in the case of the 2012 Safe Streets and Communities Act. Furthermore, some, like the NORML Women s Alliance of Canada, say that the purposed ticketing system does not go far enough and is only a halfway measure. The lord vented his rage on the men he drank with and went as far as to murder his own friends (1713 14). Another representation of wanton and destruction is seen when Beowulf speaks about Ongentheow s sons and how they , encompassed Hreasnahill with orchestrated surprise attacks on every given opportunity, savagely crusading ,they were determined not to make peace, going from ever wale road (10) entrance to the next (2475 78). Monstrous behaviors that are of the nature of wanton destruction are determined by the motives of the one being violent, although violence alone is not deemed monstrous but violence without a justified cause is, with the exception that it is a man and not woman. In the scene, you see things like uncanny comparisons and un behavior like actions, which can contribute to the claim that the movie has some supernatural elements.
