Tombstone Or Other Funerary Memorial
Jordan

Reading Question #2: Epitaphs 1. What is the function of a funerary memorial (i.e. a tombstone) in
societies generally? How can historians use them as evidence? What elements of the population
will have a tombstone or other funerary memorial? The function of a funerary memorial is
generally to honor the person who has passed. For the ones that the deceased has left behind, it can
serve as a symbol of remembrance. Tombstones hold evidence about who the person was, what was
important to them as well as what was important about them. Also, they typically have information
like dates of birth and death as well as their relatives. Based off of the text, most of the women that
were mentioned seemed to have high social status or wealth such as Aspasia who had a monument
made up for her noble disposition . 2. Based on the wording of the document, where were these

This says to me that these memorials were most likely placed in an area that may be viewed by
family members, friends, and the general public. Not only as a symbol of remembrance but as an
example to others as mentioned in the above quote. Also, based on the text, specifically the
epitaph of A Midwife and Physician, it could be concluded that these memorials were all placed in
a single area similar to a modern day

The Bystander Effect In Night By Elie Wiesel
38 people witnessed Catherine Genovese get stabbed, in three separate attacks, over a period of 35
minutes in Queens. Even as the assailant returned twice to finish off the job people still did
nothing to intervene. This is called the bystander effect. This is a psychological phenomenon that
describes the decrease in a person s likliness to help someone in need when there are other
witnesses around. As found in most everyday crimes, the bystander effectwas also found during the
Holocaust. In Night, by Elie Wiesel, the bystander effect is revealed due to one s inability to help
others in need because of fear they will be persecuted as well. The Jews of Sighet did nothing to
help the foreigners being expelled from the area, Elie could not... Show more content on

I kept silent. In fact, I thought of stealing away in order not to suffer the blows (Wiesel 54). This
is a prime example of the bystander effect because it shows a witness that is frozen and unable to
act for a certain reason. In this situation Elie can not help his father because he knows that if he
does, then he will suffer a beating as well. He would rather slip away then help his father in
order to escape a beating. Fear locks Elie as a bystander unable to act but only watch. Prisoners
during the holocaust normally could do nothing to help family, friends, and stranger who were
falling victim to the Nazi regime. Many times they had to watch as their fellow prisoners were
beaten and killed but could do nothing about it due to their fear. Elie describe what happened at
the gallows when the young boy was hung, Then came the march past the victims. The two men
were no longer alive. Their tongues were hanging out, swollen and bluish. But the third rope was
still moving the child, too light, was still breathing... (Weisel 65). After the execution each
prisoner had to walk past the boy, but yet again could do nothing but watch him die. They knew
that if they help the child then they would either be beaten or even worse, killed. These prisoners
once again fall victim to the bystander effect because they are unable to help someone in need
because of their own

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief
Have you ever wondered why Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was created after Danaus,
Perseus, and the Gorgon ? Well, the story Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a modernized
version of Danaus, Perseus, and the Gorgon ; it connects/modernizes its events, character types, and
themes. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief modernized the events in Danaus, Perseus, and the
Gorgon . First, the author writes, Looking into the mirroring shield, Perseus swooped down, and
with one deft stroke he cut off Medusas head, (D aulaires, 118). This shows that Perseus overcame
the monster in the plot, and in the movie, Percy also overcame his monster and did the same thing
to Medusa. Next, in the movie, Percy accepts his destiny and goes to save his mom (Percy Jackson
and the Lighting Thief). Relating to the hero s journey crossing the threshold, Percy goes to save
his mom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, in the beginning, Percy was born as a demigod of the god of Poseidon which is the god of
the sea (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). Just like in the original story, Perseus was born
as the son of a demigod, so he also was an unusual birth. Next, the narrator states, As he stood at a
crossroad wondering which way to go, Athena and Hermes suddenly appeared. Zeus had sent
them to help him, (D aulaires, 117). Supernatural help is always a good thing, which is why
Percy also had supernatural help (Grover and Annabeth). Lastly, when Percy was dueling
Annabeth and got hurt, he went to the water, healed himself, and discovered that he had water
powers (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). This shows that he is a prodigy hero, and so is
Perseus because Perseus discovers his skill when he uses his gear and sword to kill monsters that
he faces. Therefore, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief modernized hero types and archetypes in
Danaus, Perseus, and the

Women In Post-Civil War America
In post Civil War America, there were two main groups facing discrimination and hardship, despite
the rapid rate of the country s expansion. These two groups were Native Americans and women.
American western expansion made the conflict with Native Americans practically inevitable. Henry
Clay even went as far as stating that their complete disappearance from the human family would be
no great loss to the world . The westward movement and territorial expansion from the Louisiana
Purchase created a devastating loss to the indigenous peoples. The settlers were ignorant and
mistreated the natives and their entire culture. It was assumed by the settlers that any land they
may stumble upon that seemed empty or unsettled by their own colonized standards was up for the
taking and now theirs to have. They forced their religious beliefs ... Show more content on

Innumerable amounts of indigenous people and tribes were double crossed by white settlers in
treaties with the use of the basically fraudulent legal proceedings. Indigenous people were not held
to the same social standings as most Americans and were constantly belittled and taken advantage
for the sake of American advancement.
Women in post Civil War times were also dealing with the unreasonable limitations of American
democracy . Women were not even allowed to vote let alone hold many rights in a social standpoint.
Women enacted many suffrage movements fighting for their right to vote and have their voices
heard. Temperance movements aimed to completely thwart, or at least moderate, drinking alcohol.
Though these movements both suffered daunting opposition, women quickly became the face of
social reform. Even though they still did not have many basic rights, they made advances in
education, teaching.

Mattel s Stereotypes
Barbie has been a household name for decades and many kids around the world love and adore
her greatly. Through the years Barbie has been at the top without any challengers to bring her
down. Executives and shareholder love the way in which Barbie conquers all of the competition.
Since its inception in 1945, Mattelhas been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash
Duvall, 2005). As a man, I even understood the importance of Barbie to little girls growing up.
Around Christmas, Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like
any superpower, including countries and toys, there is sure to be challenges out there with
someone looking to dethrone the best. Mattel somehow felt that there was no way anyone could
dethrone Barbie, or steal much of her profits. They were quite wrong in their thinking and paid for
it with their bottom line. Although Mattel has focus groups and professionals who sampled the
pool of kids to define what they like, they failed miserably in seeing that things were changing
significantly. When companies are caught on their heels, it takes a while to react and that can cost
millions. In this case, a sluggish reaction by Mattel executives cost them in excess of 20 million,
over a short period of time. Girls who wanted attitude and ethnicity, not pert and pale, bought $20
million worth of Bratzdolls in the first six months they were out, and the doll line went on to win
the People s Choice Toy of the Year award from

Lab Report Cell Diffusion
Lab Report Introduction: Background Information The plasma membrane of a cell is like the
skin of a human. It is selectively permeable which means it selects what it wants to allow into the
cell and blocks out what it doesn t want. The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer
which contains 75% phospholipids, about 20% cholesterol and 5% glycolipids. Phospholipids are
amphipathic which means they contain both polar and non polar parts, these are their polar heads
and non polar tails. The lipid bilayeris like a sandwich in which the polar heads are the bread of
the sandwich and one slice of bread faces the extracellular fluid and the other faces the cytosol. The
non polar tails are like the contents inside of the sandwich.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It showed that if the pore of a membrane is not large enough, diffusion will not occur. However,
if the pore was large enough and diffusion subsequently occurred, the rate of diffusion was the
same even if the molecular weight cut off (pore size) was bigger. The following solutes and their
simple diffusion data will be explained in order from smallest to largest, smallest being one that
was able to fit through smaller a pore size.
NaCl was able to diffuse starting at 50 MWCO and the pore size there after did not affect the rate
of diffusion, (0.0150 mM/min) which stayed was the same. Urea was not able to diffuse until
100 MWCO and the rate of diffusion stayed the same at 0.0094 mM/min. Glucose was able to
diffuse only at a 200 MWCO and Albumin was too large to fit through any of the pore sizes and
did not diffuse.
Activity two: Simulating Facilitated Diffusion
This activity did support the hypothesis which was that the rate of diffusion increases when the
quantity of carrier proteins increases. One thing to be noted is that when the glucose concentration
was increased the rate of diffusion also increased which was not something that was expected.
However if there are not enough carrier proteins available to combine with the solute not all of the
solute will be transported/diffused down the concentration

My Life In The Trenches
Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved
equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even
worse, all day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific
stench of the soldiers who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the
families of those lost brothers of mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons,
husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I
do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind
busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to my brothers I have lost. I try to justify... Show

We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that
holding our ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches
here they would have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved
city, Paris. Although we know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a
chance to drive those nasty Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the
sleep I longed for had eluded me as normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost
no one on our side got much sleep. Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much
sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all
those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious, excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were
ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no good way to fight a battle in these
trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost surely dead as soon as the orders
were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most treacherous tasks we ever had. I
have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to retreat back to our trenches
safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day during battles. As you
can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained if you were
lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw fellow
soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger on
Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others,
but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us
that I find pride in

The Utopian Philosophy of Shangri La in James Hilton s Lost Horizon
For some people life may not be satisfactory. Life has many troubles including death, pain, and
suffering. It leaves little hope. There are ways in which people can live to have a good life. This
method of how a person should live is viewed differently thoughout the world. James Hilton
represents this combination of ideas and cultures in the novel, Lost Horizon (1933). This novel tells
the tale of four distinctively different people retreating from a war zone. In their retreat they are
kidnapped and taken by plane deep into the Himalayan mountain wilderness. Little did they know
that here in the confines of the mountains there is a paradise. This paradise is called ... Show more

The mental environment of the people of Shangri La is the search of knowledge. Platonism, the
theory of Plato, maintains that to live the good life, one must first acquire certain kinds of
knowledge. This theory represents the environment of Shangri La, searching for knowledge.
Hilton portrays the Shangri Lite s search of knowledge through their extensive library which
contains the world s best literature (95). This great asset of Shangri La represents the theory of
Plato and showed that Shangri La is a place abundant is Platonic philosophy. The second
philosophical view aiding in the setting of Shangri La is the theory of Aristotle. Aristotle
believed that the good life is one of balance. The people of Shangri La also lived this way
claiming that our prevalent belief is moderation. (74). The people are moderately sober,
moderately chaste, and moderately honest (75). Moderation is abundant throughout the setting of
Shangri La, and the people claim that moderation [is], y know the motto of the firm (180),
whereas firm represents Shangri La. This principle makes for a considerable degree of happiness
(74). This relates to the view of Aristotle, that the good life is a life of happiness. The happiness of
Shangri La is portrayed as one of the pleasantest communities, (108) where the inhabitants are
courteous and carefree (108) and where one will doubtless find great happiness (198). Even in
happiness there is moderation. Shangri La

Algonquin Myth Of Michabo Analysis
When you hear the word myth , your immediate intellect may go to a story that is fake or made
up . While that is partially true, myths are generally traditional tales that primarily revolve around
specific people and religious beliefs. The most prevailing myths that orbit around today s standards
are creation myths. Basically, they are theories about how humanity emerged and how the world
was created. As I read Greek Creation and The Algonquin Myth of Michabo , I perceived that they
are both obviously very distinctive from each other, but in a way they share the same idea or
interpretation about how the world and humanity was formed. When analyzing both of the text, I
realized that the Greek Creation Myth and the Algonquin Myth of

The Death Of Two ( The Great Gatsby )
The death of two (The Great Gatsby)
The auburn hued leaves crunched with every miserable footstep. They scattered the ground in a
haphazard manner, not dissimilar to the state of the thoughts swirling through the mind of the lone
man, disconsolate and determined to regain a semblance of balance in his life. He strode
purposefully towards his vengeful destination. With his worn out greased overalls and his intrinsic
grey flat cap, he passed through the elaborate, elite fields of West Egg, also known as the land of
new money , embarking towards this mansion.
Located at the very end of West Egg, bordering the sound, rested the extravagant white mansion.
Stealthily, he moved towards his target, Jay Gatsby. For all George Wilson was concerned, he had
been contemplating whether or not this man was responsible for the tragic death of his beloved
wife, Myrtle. He walked further: to within the rear of the luxurious pearl white mansion. An old
piano, sat as to enamel Gatsby s supposedly elite position. Gatsby s abode was embellished with
unique russet velvety walls and glazed coffee wooden floorboards. After Wilson s entrance, via an
unlocked rear door, he imagined himself taking a drink with his girl in such a fine room, but that
possibility did not exist. This man named Gatsby had ruined it all for him.
George was a simple kind of guy. He always dreamed of living in West Egg with his wife; he
wanted the best for Myrtle. Wilson removed a crystal clear glass from a coffee table

The Court Case Of Powell Vs. Alabama During The 1930s
Supreme Court Case
The United States attention was captivated on the Supreme Court Case of Powell vs Alabama
during the 1930s. During the time period, this case revealed the brutal treatment towards African
Americans more than any other event. The case began on March 25, 1931, when a group of young
white and African American youths were traveling on a train to find a job. A physical encounter
broke out between them and the white youths were thrown out of the train. Then they reported the
incident to a stationmaster, who stopped the train. The police arrived to gather the nine African
Americans and brought them to jail. Nine young African Americans were recognized as the
Scottsboro boys . They were accused of rape of two white women on that train. The white jury
convicted eight of them, all except one, the youngest at 12 years old, and were sentenced to death.
These youths were falsely charged with raping two white women in Alabama. Although there was
no evidence that linked the African Americans to the white women, they were still charged with
sexual assault. The two women fearing prosecution for their sexual relationship with the white men
agreed to testify against the black youths. The Supreme Court Case of Powell vs Alabama is crucial
in both Civil Rights history and in the evolution of the Constitution.
This landmark ruling in the Scottsboro case, Powell v. Alabamawas named after one of the nine
defendants. This was the case that drove the Constitution to

A Sand Country Almanac Analysis
As the swamp is most vital to the species that live in it, the value of nature is most desperately felt
by the urgent parties indicating that humans, caught in the modern trend towards economical profit
and away from ecological ethics, have often failed to notice such vitality of nature to itself as well
as to other parties. However, Aldo Leopoldbrilliantly successes to break this common rule and spot
the importance of nature in A Sand Country Almanac. In A Sand Country Almanac, Leopold

ecological ethics in the second, and proposes conclusions of such phenomenon in the third. Leopold

is the space between cities on which crops grow... In short, land is something he has outgrown.
(Leopold, 293) There will an advancement in land ethics only when the individuals face direct
impact from their environmental choices. Land ethics, thereby, is not just an intellectual process

The Meaning Of Gay And Homosexuality
Our world changes day by day. Humans grow, evolve, and adjust to the modern world. As our
world advances, our language and terminology progresses along with it. A word that has changed
completely in definition is gay , it has two completely different meanings. Today gay means, of,
relating to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one s own
sex; homosexual (The Definition of Gay). and in the 12th century gay meant happy or carefree
(How Gay) How did the definition of this word change so greatly over the years?
Gay came about in the 12th century, with the meaning of carefree , joyful , or bright and showy
(How Gay). The word is first recorded in English c.1325, with the meaning of beautiful, in a
poem titled Blow, Northerne Wind, which appears in the manuscript British Library MS Harley
2253. The English word comes from the French gai, but where this French word comes from is
uncertain (Word Origins.org.). The first meaning of gay was once meant to have a meaning of
happiness. People woke up hoping to have a gay day.
By the 17th century gay started to change from meaning bright and showy to mean immorality .
By the mid 17th century, according to an Oxford dictionary definition at the time, the meaning of
the word had changed to mean addicted to pleasures and dissipations. Often euphemistically: Of
loose and immoral life (How Gay). In the span of five hundred years this word began to greatly

The Field Of Anthropology As A Field
Attempts to understand other cultures have seemingly existed all throughout human history, yet the
methods for doing so have changed over time. The field of anthropology dates back to the late
19th century, and when it reached the United States, it became even more WORD widespread?
Since then, it has continued to develop as a field, with new approaches becoming standard about
every twenty years. Two of the main approaches to writing works of ethnographyinclude
ethnographic accounts of a cultureforeign to the writer, and fictional stories, often based on the
culture the writer himself belongs to. Each approach has its strengths and drawbacks, and both seek
to achieve different objectives, but works of both styles have gained popularity for their insightful
and thought provoking commentary. Each method has a unique set of advantages to offer, and the
cultivation of anthropologyas a field has only furthered their influence.
In the 1980s, a trend of objectivism spread across works of anthropology, which made sense, since
the founding fathers of the field were primarily scholars of science. This background influenced
how they viewed other cultures, compelling them to approach the societies they studied as part of
a controlled experimental setting and analyze how individual elements in this closed system were
interrelated and how they interacted (Kohl 556). In the mid 1990s, a budding approach to
ethnography by George Marcus was centered on a very different principle;

Famous Artist Stereotypes Essay
Stereotypes are well known among humans and many of us have been faced with the criticism of
such stereotypes. One of the most well known stereotypes is those belonging to famous artists.
These stereotypes come from many of the movies created about such artists. Some believe that
famous artists are someone people that are abnormal or odd in their way of thinking or actions.
When asked what comes into someone s mind when asked about famous artists may also be how
they are not famous until death. Along with these beliefs, people believe that artists have a very
active sex life. Through media, these stereotypesare true but in all actuality, they are not correct.
When thinking about famous artists, many people believe that they all suffer from some type of
mental illness. Van Gogh is an example of the stereotype. Seventy days after Vincent moves to
Auvers sur Oise and under the care of Dr. Gachet, he dies from a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Many know the artist to be quite ill mentally along with the fact of Van Gogh cutting his own ear

This is a misguided affection , and a bad idea according to Carnegie, because one cannot
duplicate the styles and strategies of another no matter how hard he tries. A son can make
mistakes and lose his fortune or he can lose it from the fall in the value of land. It has also been
proven that it is not good for the state for a son to take his father s place as a leader. He could
mean that the son has been given all of these treasures from birth and does not appreciate what
he is getting. He also may not be sensitive to all that is necessary in the processes of
development. Another way one could dispose of surplus wealth is to have all the money earned
be spent by the one who earns it. This is not always possible these days and perhaps also back
then, because ther is no limit to what one can earn. But spending frivolously just because one
can isn t exactly the best trait; one should live in modesty. br br One other way Carnegie
suggests the money could be distributed would be to donate it to public services. This is the
one he personally chose because it serves the most good to most amount of people possible. It is
therefore not detrimental to the value of money to others, and is enjoyed by he who earned it a
very fair way of disposal. The objective, however, he wished to achieve may not be achieved after

It Has Been Argued That Canadian Environmentalism Occurred
It has been argued that Canadian environmentalism occurred in a series of waves throughout the
countries growth and development. Upon colonization the Canadian landscape was abundant in
resources, the opportunities limitless. Over the course of a century industrialization had swept the
nation. The rapid depletion of resources initiated the development of numerous private
organizations that sought to control, maintain, and ensure longevity of such resources. This force
would continue to reshape along with the industrial demands and ever changing landscape. It is
imperative to provide context regarding the evolution of the environmental movement that took
place in Canada, in order to comprehend the role non governmental organizations played... Show

Gradually conservationist efforts of resource preservation developed, characterizing North America
s first wave of environmentalism.
Individuals involved within Canada s forestry industry developed many of the earliest conservation
efforts. The rapid depletion of Canadian forests forced many to advocate for the development of
controlled harvesting and reserved areas. By 1900, the Canadian Forestry Association was
established. Despite Canada s earliest efforts, their neighbours to the south were generally further
advanced with their efforts. Such gap in national efforts can be viewed as a matter of population
differences, industrial expansion, and economic circumstances. The American settlements were
much further developed in many respects than their counterparts, and had demonstrated
anthropogenic harm throughout their growth. In 1909, American President Theodore Roosevelt,
invited both Mexico and Canada to join the United States at the North American Conservation
Conference. This conference would lead to the establishment of Canada s Commission of
Conservation.
Canada s Commission of Conservation developed recommendations and environmental ethics that
can be viewed as the seeds of modern environmentalism. The development of national parks also
illustrates the difference between American and Canadian conservation. In 1885, Banff became
Canada s first national park, while their neighbours had established their first national park,

Truck Culture of Pakistan
1. Truck Culture of Pakistan:
Art in any form is joy to the eyes. In Pakistan there is this great art (known as Truck Art) which
has captured the imagination of tourists and art lovers from all over the globe. Its not cheap, it s
not easy but a truck owner without a truck art is not acceptable in the Truck Drivers fraternity.
1.1 History of Vehicle Painting in Pakistan
The extraordinary tradition of decorating trucks has its roots in the days of the British Raj when
craftsmen made glorious horse drawn carriages for the gentry. The 1920s the Kohistan Bus
Company asked the master craftsman Ustad Elahi Bakhsh to decorate their buses to attract
passengers. Bukhsh employed a company of artists from the Punjab town of Chiniot, whose ... Show

technological motifs like airports and trains can also be found.
Two basic types of paintings can be distinguished in the way the truck sides are done. The first is
simple painting , which is basically a picture on each segment on the sides with some additional
ornaments. The second type, which leaves no square inch uncovered, is the Disco Painting .
These disco trucks are the real master pieces. Every time you look at them, you discover new
images and decorations. But whether simple or disco , the paintings on the sides are never
identical, and not only because the name of the owing company is written in Urdu on one side and
in Roman on the other.

The Uk And Its Economy
1.Introduction
On 23rd June 2016, there will be an important referendum for the UK and its economy to resolve
whether the UK leaves the EU or not. The decision that will be made by the British citizens will
effect on a lot of sectors in many ways. However, it is expected that especially sports industry
which has been globally developing nowadays will be the most influenced on by that decision.
The purpose of the report is to identify what are the advantages and disadvantages for sport
related organisations caused by the case of the UK leaving the EU. In this report, it will be
focusing on Manchester City Football Club, and discussing what are the main merits and demerits
for one of the most globally oriented football clubs as a result of ... Show more content on

Because of this, Manchester City cannot spend as much money on signing foreign talent as these
players will face difficulty to work in the UK, meaning the club can instead invest the money that
they would have spent on players in their youth academy. Home grown players could benefit from
a Brexit (Slater 2016). Appendix 1 shows that Manchester City is in the bottom 4 of the Premier
League for a number of British players used by the club, so to switch from buying players abroad
to investing into the youth academy means that it is a positive for Manchester City as it will
make it a more traditional British club. What this does for Manchester City is inherit the squad
to become more of a Manchester like club as they can focus on bringing up home grown players
from their youth academy meaning there will be an increase in the amount of British players in
the club as at the moment there are only 4 British players within the 24 men first team of
Manchester City. What this also does for Manchester City is help the economic situation they face
themselves with as for example a player who recently has been promoted from the youth academy

Yaya Toure has a weekly salary worth ВЈ220,000. (in text citations here)

Essay about Periodontal Disease
Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease or gingivitis. This infection is serious
enough, that it can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. This chronic infection starts around the tooth
and it affects the supporting bone and gums. Periodontal disease can affect anywhere from one
tooth to all thirty two teeth. The disease pathology starts with the plaque that builds up on your
teeth everyday.
The plaque build up causes the gums to become red and inflamed. If not properly brushed off, the
remaining plaque will also cause the gums to bleed. This stage of periodontal disease is commonly
referred to gingivitis, literately meaning ВЎВ°swelling of the gums.ВЎВ± There is no real pain

ItВЎВЇs estimate that thirty percent of people with periodontal disease were genetically
susceptible. Exposure may also play a role in contracting the disease. People have contracted it
from their partners. Pregnancy plays a role as well because when women are pregnant their bodies
are generally more susceptible. A pregnant womanВЎВЇs gums are also extremely sensitive. Other
common contributing factors are stress, types of medications a person has taken (oral
contraceptives and anti depressants), diabetes, poor nutrition and bruxism (clenching and grinding
your teeth). These factors can be changed or properly maintained in order to stop contributing to the
periodontal disease. It is also important to note that these factors cannot be blamed for the main
cause of this disease.
Other problems can arise because of periodontal disease. The obvious is tooth loss. After awhile
all gum recession and bone damage will cause the teeth to fall out. This leads to more dental
problems and eventually dentures. Bad breath is often caused by periodontal disease. This is often
unpleasant and embarrassing for the person experiencing it. Other problems that periodontal
disease contributes to are heart disease and stroke. Thirty percent of heart attack victims and stroke
victims have a type of periodontal disease. What happens is the same plaque that builds up on your
teeth, gets into the blood stream and clogs the main arteries of the heart and brain. This leads to a
heart attack and

Alice Walker Oppression

ENG4U1
19 May 2017
.........An analysis of oppression and resistance in Alice Walker s The Colour Purple (1982) and
Lawrence Hill s The Book of Negroes (2007).
Historically, it is widely known that during times of segregation and the slave industry that
oppression was common towards African Americans and that white supremacy was prominent.
Alice Walker s award winning The Colour Purple (1982) is a narrative, told through the perspective
of a poor, uneducated, African Americannamed Celie, who is writing letters to God. Through her
letters readers learn of her abuse, and her experience with being bought and sold away from home,
far from the ones she loves. With that perspective readers are educated on the trials ... Show more

Readers are educated on the double edged sword of being both black and a female. Walker does
this by by expressing how gender oppression complicates racial oppression. Black female
characters not only had to face slavery and racism but also sexism and abuse, mentally,
physically and sexually. This was encountered by both white and black male characters. The
black males in the novel are portrayed as cruel, as they live in a world where white men rule and
feel like less of a man and because of this they take out their anger and frustration on the black
females. Walker starts her novel with Celie s letter describing the brutal rape by her father.
Walker writes He just say you gonna do what your mammy wouldn t. First he put his thing up
against my hip ... when that hurt I cry. He start to choke me, saying you better shut up and git
used to it. (1) In comparison to the white male characters, Celie s father feel as if he has very
little worth, therefore taking out his frustration on his daughters. Readers learn that Fonso
impregnated Celie twice, disposing of both children, and once he got bored he turned his
attention towards Nettie. Celie is also raped daily by Mr.__. He would try to convince her that
since they are married she is obligated to have sex with him whenever he wants, but when she
wouldn t oblige he would beat her then forcefully rape her. Walker writes Just finish my business,
get off and go to sleep. Mr__ also asserts his male dominance by beating her in front of people.
Walker writes, He beat me today cause he say I winked at a boy in church. I may have got
something in my eye but I didn t wink. I don t even look at mens, I m too scared of them. This
quote shows how fearful Celie is of the male character both black and white. She doesn t say i m
scared of white men , she openly writes of her fear of all men. She s afraid to look or speak with
them as she knows it will result

Home Sweet Home The Great Gatsby is a good example of how the characters in the book reflect
their homes. The book also reflects on how this affects the characters and their relationships Tom
and Daisy live in luxury as Nick described their house on page six he says ; Their house was even
more elaborate than I expected, a cheerful red and white Georgian Colonial mansion, overlooking
the bay. The lawn started at the beach and ran toward the front door for a quarter of a mile,
jumping over sun dials and brick walls and burning gardensдёЂfinally when it reached the house

broken by a line of french windows, glowing now with reflected gold and wide open to the warm
windy afternoon, and Tom Buchanan in riding clothes was standing with his legs a part on the
front porch. (6) He explains how the house and Tom are similar both large and sturdy, Yet when
Nick describes them entering the french doors it seems whimsical and light. This describes
Daisy in many ways Although she shows throughout the book that she doesn t care about many
things, she even says ... I hope she ll be a fool that s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a

Complex Chiefdom In Ancient Egypt
The shifts in social structure outlined above were first attributed to the complex chiefdoms of
Egypt in 5500 B.C.E. Archeologists have discovered that this ancient Egyptian society was highly
complex, and have found evidence of burial rituals, religious beliefs, and a sophisticated form of
writing. During the first few centuries of Egyptian urbanization, a group of small nomes, or
chiefdoms, were unified under military conquest. This in turn created a signal state around 3150

Alexander Graham Bell And The Life Of Alexander Graham Bell
Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. He was raised
by his mother Eliza Grace Symonds Bell, who was nearly deaf, but was an accomplished pianist
and encouraged Alexander to undertake big challenges, and his father Alexander Melville Bell.
Alexander Graham Bell was one of three children and was home schooled until age 11. He did
not do very well in school academically, but he did enjoy science and had a great ability to solve
problems. Growing up, Alexander became very interested in his father s business, which focused
on oral education for the deaf. The business focused on Visual Speech, which was a system of
symbols to aid people in speaking words in any language even if they had never heard it before.
Alexander Graham Bellhad high hopes for oral education and communication, and wanted to learn
more about it. During his college years, Alexander Graham Bell received his education from the
University of London where he studied under his grandfather who was a noted speech teacher.
Over the years, Alexander made his way around the world, teaching people about, and promoting,
oralism. During this time, Alexander attracted parents of deaf children who wanted their children
to speak. Alexander truly believed that without the ability to speak, deaf people would never be
able to fully participate in society. Alexander Graham Bell took it upon himself to find the most
appropriate way for oralism to be the main form of communication, which

Ian Mcdonald s A Kingdom Forgotten
A Kingdom Forgotten is a rather curious beast. The story breaks with the concept of linear time,
allowing the protagonists to interact with various points of history and manipulate key events
in order to fulfill a grand master plan . While there are many different narratives in this book, A
Kingdom Forgotten mostly focused on the story of Damon and Radin. The former is potentially
the most powerful wizard (or lamean as McDonald calls them) in the universe while the later
stumbles across a bit of prophecy which takes his life in a new and very unexpected direction.
Ultimately the story is about the end times of the universe and the battle between good and evil.
Both sides of this coin are represented by a variety of different forces, though it remains
unknown which side McDonald intends for Damon to be on, and all have their own hand
schemes that they are trying to bring to fruition. Some seem to want to destroy all of creation
while others naturally try to stop them. This is where things start to become a little stretched. By
its very nature, A Kingdom Forgotten is a convoluted and twisting story which jumps from place
to place and time to time almost randomly to reveal events that will eventually come together to
form the end goal of the plot. This part along is actually very well managed, McDonald has clearly

Integrated Services Digital Network ( Isdn )
Before we get into the discussion, let s briefly introduce some of the technologies used in WANs
and the different characteristics of each one:
Point to point links
A so called point to point link (Fig. 2.0) provides a pre established WAN communication path
from the user s location trough a telephone company s network, also known as the carrier. For this
kind of line, the carrier dedicates pairs of wire and hardware to that line only. This kind of circuits
are priced depending on bandwidth needed and distance to be covered.
(Figure 2.0 Point to point link)
Circuit Switching
Work like a normal telephone line. Data connections can be started when needed and terminated
when the communication is over. An example of circuit switching is called Integrated Services
Digital Network (ISDN). When a router receives data that s intended to go to a specific remote site,
the switched circuit (Fig. 2.1) is initiated with a specific circuit number for that particular network.
As soon the two networks that are trying to connect get the authentication done, it is possible to
transfer data. When data transmission is over, the communication gets terminated.
(Figure 2.1 Switched Circuit)
Packet Switching
Here users share common carrier resources (Fig. 2.2). This is a more cost effective solution
compared for example to point to point lines. The carrier can make more efficient use of its
infrastructure. Connections into the carrier s network are shared between many customers and

Leadership Is The Best Leadership
Leadership is fundamental to every successful process known to mankind. There must always be
someone who is willing to initiate the first step, and by example, others are given inspiration or
purpose to follow suit. Though many definitions exist, Josh Kuehler captures the essence of
leadership in business by noting Leadership is the ability to inspire motivation in others to move
toward a desirable vision. While management is focused on tasks, leadership is focused on the
person. All in all, the best leadership drives change and long lasting motivation. (Helmrich, 2015, p.
1) Given the thousands of leadership definitions, why did I choose this one? Because it clearly
highlights a clear difference between leadership and management. Leadership is about people, not
about processes, and people enable a strong ethics program. Therefore, my belief is that leadership,
not management is the primary catalyst behind a flexible yet sustainable ethics program in any
organization, private or public. Whether establishing, modifying, or cultivating a successful ethics
program, leadership involvement at all levels of an organization is absolutely paramount.
I ll use our very own United States Air Force as an example, as I spent 23 years in the organization.
I feel confident that I can demonstrate how the Air Force has adapted the seven Federal Sentencing
Guidelines for Organizations (FSGO) requirements of an effective compliance and ethics program.

Glaciers and Desserts Exercise
The difference between an ice sheet and a glacier; an ice sheet or continental glaciers is a chunk
of glacier ice that is the largest and the thickest type of glacier that can be almost unbelievable.
They are massive and can cover large islands and the land surrounding it as it can be greater than
50,000 kilometers wide. If melted, they contain enough water to raise sea level about 66m (216
ft.). Glaciers are smaller and move on average, a little slower but have remarkable ability to carry a
huge volume of water in a stream. A glacierice forms, where the depth of the snow increases, as
the snow accumulation exceeds, a deep snowpack forms as it is compressed into ice under great
pressure it then begins to flow down the mountain. When the glacier gets to a point where the

The Role Of Streetwear And Its Effect On Society
It s where it all starts, from the ground up; street is the seed to all other fashion says Kenta Goto
from Brknhome, a now defunct Canadian t shirt brand (Vogel 37). There are many voices that
speak of the streetwear culture: what it is or once was, how it all started and where it is heading.
Streetwear is not just some fad or a passing trend. It is nothing but pure talent and passion, and the
vision to stand out from the rest. It is a fashionmovement, primarily for the youth who roam the
streets expressing their interests, cultural identity, and common scenarios that take place in their
urban catwalks. For the youth, streetwear can be the most effective form of self expression.
Rather than representing a set of brands or clothes, streetwear represents a lifestyle. Streetwear is
more than just clothes; it is an expression of the wearer s identity. It is an expression of a culture
that cannot be taken down, or trashed upon. Streetwear is a philosophy espousing a do it yourself
spirit that once emerged from an urging urban youth culture, which wanted something different and
unique.
THE ORIGINS
As a movement encompassing various elements of surf, skate, and hip hop culture, the true origins
of what is considered the modern day streetwear craze are questionable. Streetwear is as much a
distinct fashion movement, as it is a lifestyle, a culture promoting a sense of individuality, freedom
of expression, and an anti authority outlook. However, a general consensus

The Women s Liberation Movement In The United States
The Women s Liberation Movement also known as feminism, has impacted the past and present
United States in numerous ways. The Movement and has continued since 1848 and is still going
strong today. It has grown in each decade, gaining many followers and still helps women even now
. The Women s Liberation Movement has helped women gain more respect, rights to her body, and
equality in the workplace. Every human, male or female should support the movement. As a result
of the movement, women have been gaining rights from feminism for over a thousand years. The
Feminist Movement officially started in Seneca Falls at the first Women s convention. Where they
fought for the right to vote, even though it took over 70 years for women to get the opportunity.
The people who participate in the movement fought for numerous rights for women, like voting,
birth control, and equality in the workplace(Simon). Without millions the of people supporting,
Women wouldn t be treated or have the same rights they do today. That s why it s still so
important to support feminism because if no one does all the hard work of the women in the past
would go to waste.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the movements website it states, National Women s Liberation is a feminist group for
women who want to fight back against male supremacy and win more freedom for women. We
believe that change comes about from the actions of everyday people not politicians, the courts,
lobbyists, or the media. The freedoms we have now were won by movements of women,
organizing and fighting for change ( National Women s Liberation ). The Women s Liberation
Movement is so important for empowering women, especially the younger generations. If young
girls are given the same respect as boys they will grow up believing in themselves. The only way to
fix gender equality is empowering

Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA)
As many Canadians plan for their financial future, it s important they don t lose sight of an
important alternative investment, a tax free savings account. A tax free savings account, or TFSA
for short, is a flexible, registered savings account that allows Canadians to earn tax free investment
income for life. Unlike other savings accounts, investment income earned through a TFSA, such as
interest, capital gains and dividends, is not taxed. This means you can withdraw money at any time
from your TFSA without penalty or taxconsequences.
As you can imagine, the TFSA has generated a lot of positive interest across Canada and has grown
in popularity since it was introduced in 2009. According to the Canada Revenue Agency, since
2009 more than 10 million TFSAs have been opened, with a combined value of more than $88
billion. The TFSA has proven useful both as a specific purpose savings account and as an

The Decade Known as The Great Depression
The decade known as the Great Depression was an era filled with both hardship and tribulation.
Historians continue to debate the root causes of the collapse of the stock market which led the
country into depression. Other deride the ineptitude of the Canadian government s response to the
crisis. At any rate, the Dirty Thirties was a period of time unlike any other. While those who
suffered through it are largely gone, the memory of those dark days remains to this day.
Firstly, there are many factors that contributed to making the Great Depression start. Over
production and expansion was a problem because almost every industry was expanding in the 1920
s. Industries made products quickly that weren t selling and in order to slow down ... Show more

All the ranks on the social class had dropped. The poor became poorer than the poor. Finding
work was sporadic at best and it was impossible for men to pay for their homes which led to
people having to move into their cars, piano boxes and anything they could possibly find shelter
in. The Great Depression got farmers the worst as severe dust storms hit the prairies. Temperature
raised immensely in 1936 making wind storms hotter and drier, and with no rain there was no
crops. Western prairies became almost completely dependent on the export of wheat but grass
hoppers and plant diseases cause the last few crops destroyed. Farmers had to sell their farms as
debts raised because they couldn t afford their families as the drought prolonged. The school boards
had to decrease the number of teachers and increase the amount of students. Even marriage was
effected, while Canada experienced the Great Depression, many couples refrained from marrying
due to economic uncertainty and high unemployment. These causes of the Depression impacted the
everyday Canadian.
Moreover, the Canadian government took many measures to pull Canada out of the Depression
they tried, monthly relief rates, vouchers, governments money, relief camps, buying Canadian,
make work projects and tariffs. Monthly relief rates were when people would have to go to a
welfare office to prove that they were unemployed too get a certain amount of money

Three Day Diet Analysis
Growing up I have always given my dad a hard time for his weight until about four years ago
when he pulled out his wedding tux and I tried it on and could not fit in it. I am currently six foot
four inches and weight approximately one hundred and fifty pounds so you can share my
amazement when I found out that I couldn t fit into my two hundred and fifty pound father s tux.
My dad got married when he was twenty two and I just turned twenty two, so I believe that it is
about time to start being more a wear of what I eat. Being that I am currently underweight, I haven t

My lunches will be foods that give me two ounces of grains, one cup of vegetables, and one cup of
dairy. My afternoon break is a perfect time for my afternoon snack that will consist of one ounce
of grain, a half cup of vegetables, a half cup of dairy, and two ounces of protein foods. My last meal
of the day should contain two ounces of grains, one cup of vegetables, one cup of fruits, and two
ounces of protein foods. Seeing the meal plans makes me feel like this diet is going to be
something I am able to do.
I am a very active person, I think this is a contributing factor for my weight problem, and a
proper diet like the meal plans provided by Super Tracker will give me the nutrients my body needs
to drive through my work days with less fatigue and exhaustion. For as long as I remember my
work days have consisted of my waking up, working, coming home and hitting the sack as soon as
possible. With a proper diet, I have hopes of not only having more energy for work, but also for
after work activities. There are so many things that I just cannot accomplish on my limited days off
work. It would be ideal if I could take care of stuff during the work week as well. I guess in order
for me to take care of things, I must first take care of myself by giving my body what it needs to
be healthy and strong.

Why Is An Excused Act Morally Wrong
In war every combatant, just or unjust, poses a certain type of threat. On the two opposite ends of
the spectrum a combatant poses either a culpable threat or an excused threat. If a combatant poses
a culpable threat he poses a threat of wrongful harm to others and he is not justified, premised, nor
excused in his actions (McMahan 159). If a combatant poses an excused threat, he poses a justified
threat of harm and is therefore fully excused for his actions. In addition to the legality of a
combatant s actions, just wartheory concerns itself with the morality of a combatant s actions. This
is an important fact to recognize because, often times, terms will have a slightly different moral
definition than the tradition legal definition with which average persons are familiar. Before
proceeding any further, it is of vast important to understand the terms excuse and permission as a
just wartheorists understands them to mean. For the interest of this paper, when a combatant
performs a wrongful act, whether it be moral or legally wrong, but the combatant is not
blameworthy, he is excused. (McMahan 110). Just war theorists believe a combatant is premised to
complete an action if the act is not morally wrong, and cannot warrant a justifiable complaint. The
important take away to remember is the victim of an excused act would have a justifiable reason...

An excused action is still morally wrong. This is the key problem of failing to realize the
difference between permission and excuse in relation to the moral equality of combatants. People
who fail to realize the difference of these terms are lead to believe unjust combatants are acting in
accordance with moral law when they are excuses. Whereas in reality, unjust combatants are not to
blame for their actions if they are excused, but their actions are still morally wrong because just
combatants are liable to attack, when they are acting in accordance with the principles of jus in

Smoking In Public Places
Smoking Ban Backlash
Walking down Boston s Boylston Street at the late hours of the evening, the sidewalks are crowded
with smokers taking their last hauls before entering the bars for a night of drinking.
Due to the smoking ban in all public work areas that has been in effect since May of 2003,
restaurant and bar patrons of Boston bear the cold winter season approaching, and reminisce about
the old days where it was legal to enjoy a smoke with a cocktail at a bar.
In May of 2003, Boston joined 90 other communities that banned smoking in Massachusetts,
prohibiting smoking in all public establishments. There are certain exceptions to the smoking ban

Only five months after the Boston ban took place discussions of a statewide ban immediately
began, and as it gets closer to 2004,the state of Massachusetts inches it s way closer to a statewide
ban.
The Senate recently joined the House of Representatives in backing the statewide ban. The two
branches of legislature will meet in January to revise a draft of the bill for the statewide ban,
which will most likely pass in early 2004 and take effect July 5, 2004, making Massachusetts the
6th state to ban smoking statewide. California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, and New York have
already passed similar bans.
Governor Mitt Romney will ultimately decide the state bans fate, yet he has not confirmed which
way he leans on this issue.
Many Boston bar and club owners who opposed a city ban now look forward to the statewide ban
in hopes that clientele will return, but most owners had no problem with the smoking to begin with.
I d rather have smoking be allowed to make the customers happy, said Irish born Milan O Shay, a
bartender at the Flann O Brian s Pub in Mission Hill. But since that won t be happening, a
statewide ban gives less of competitive edge to the other towns in the area that have yet to ban
smoking.
According to the Boston Globe, a pool hall owner had hopes that the smoking ban in Boston would

The Media And Popular Culture
Media and Popular Culture Popular culture is different from traditional culture; it is based on the
timeline of the significant characteristics of a culture. Popular culture is the ideas, attitudes,
thinking, memes, images, and other phenomena that are in the mainstream of a given culture,
especially the western culturein the early 20th century to the middle 20th century and the emerging
global mainstream in the early 20th and the 21st century. Deeply influenced by the mass media, this
collection of ideas permeates daily life of the society (Wikipedia 2014). Mass media is
conceived and designed to reach a very large media audience. It may need to be in the form of
broadcast media, in television and radio, or print media, such as newspapers and magazines.
Internet media can also obtain the status of the mass media; actually, with so many ways out
there provided by internet media, mass media has been more accessible than ever before. Some
people also call it the mainstream media , refer to the fact that it tends to give prominent coverage
to the news that are cater for the interest of the public, while ignores the controversial news. Most
people around the world are dependent on mainstream sources for most of their news, so globally,
it has already been a huge industry. But there could be some problems with mass means too, as it
could devour the diversity and have negative effect on popular culture.

Designing A New Computer System
Case Study 1
Three friends have asked me to configure a new computer for each one of them. The first one is a
gamer, and she needs a competitive gaming system. Another wants to purchase a computer for her
home office where she has a small travel agency company, and the third would like a notebook or
laptop computer that he can use for schoolwork. Each one of my friends has a $2000.00 budget
to create the perfect computer system for each of their needs. First, we will create the perfect
gaming system for my friend in need. With the gaming system we will be starting from scratch.

The two have been tested against one another, and honestly there is really not much different
between the two in game playing performances. However, the SSD has proven to be drastically
faster than the HD. I am going to go with the SSD with this gaming system because it loads
faster, transitioning maps throughout the game is significantly faster, and overall it means that
your computer will boot at a significantly faster. Overall one would have a better experience
because it makes the overall functionality of the computer better as a whole. The Samsung 840
EVO 240 GB would be a great one to choose. It can be found for $129.99. It is a little on the
pricey side, but it will be well worth it. Next we need to configure a reliable computer system for
my friend that has a small, at home travel agency. With this system I would also recommend
buying an already made system, and perhaps doing a few upgrades. Dell has the OptiPlex 3020
Micro which is a descent system for an at home business. It comes with an Intel Pentium
G3240T Processor which is dual core with HD Graphics. This dual core processor has plenty of
horsepower to work with for a small business, so there is really no need in upgrading this to a quad
core processor. It will allow you to answer e mails while running Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
along with the Web browser. It also comes with 4 gigabytes of RAM, and there is

Descriptive Language In The Contender By Robert Lipsyte
Description begins in the writer s imagination, but should finish in the reader s. Stephen King.
Descriptive language helps to create a picture in the reader s mind. Authors can create descriptive
language through narration or dialogue. In the novel The Contender, by Robert Lipsyte, the author
uses descriptive language and dialogue to develop the characters and the setting. In The Contender,
the author Robert Lipsyteuses descriptive language throughout the whole story. One example of
descriptive language in the story is on page 47. It says, The second sit up was harder than the
first, and the third was harder still. But by the fourth sit up his muscles began to get warm, like a
car engine heating up on a cold morning.. In the text it says that each sit up was harder than the last
but by the last sit up he began to get used to it. This quote shows you what the character, Alfred, is
doing and how it felt to do the activity he was doing physically. A second example of descriptive
language in the story is on page 54. It says, Alfred caught his breath. It was huge. It was almost a
circle, and the seats rose right up the walls toward a ceiling of cables and beams. In the center of
the floor, gleaming white under hundreds of spotlights, was the ring. The ropes were wrapped in
velvet. In this quote the author is trying to paint a picture in the reader s mind by using descriptive
words like huge and wrapped in velvet to describe items, objects and the setting that the

Paul Revere And The Boston Massacre
The newspaper was made so that the people could know what was happening around their
community. Propaganda was very popular with the colonists even though most of the content that
was printed in the newspaper was not always true. Even though it was not like by the government
the colonists like the newspapers. The newspaper would show dramatize images to get the
colonists to buy their newspaper just as patriot Paul Revere did for the printing of the Boston
Massacre. He showed and exaggerated image of what had happened at the BostonMassacre. The
newspaper that was published based on the Boston Massacre change the way some people saw
Great Britain. There was a mob that had started to attack the British barracks and then started to
attack Hugh White, who got surrounded by the mob and then came Captain Thomas Preston to
help him with his soldiers. The angry crowd, then started to throw snowballs and other items at
the British soldiers which infuriated the soldiers. The British soldiers under Captain Thomas
Presto started to fire at the crowd and killed 5 men and wounded others. When the Boston
Massacre happened, it was shown in the newspaper a few days after the event had occurred. The
newspaper told the event a little different to what happened, it changed people s views, and it
affected all the colonists. After the Boston Massacre, many people started to print newspapers to
spread the news quickly of the catastrophic event that had occurred in Boston. Paul Revere was the

Behavior Change Project Examples
I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it
with the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it
was done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45.
I have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this
project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that
I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that
I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be
running each week and I have a raceevery week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I
was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities. My goal for
the end of the first week was to be able to run 3.1 miles in 20:00. I... Show more content on

it really easy to get the three miles in and hard to get the healthy meals in. Since we were trying
to avoid spending too much money we were just eating at small diners and fair type food that
were close by. I tried to mitigate the damage by ordering the healthiest alternative that I could find,
but that did not always work. The other unforeseen difficulty was the addition of a new vending

How can historians use them as evidence? What elements of the population will have a tombstone or other funerary memorial? • 4. The Bystander Effect In Night By Elie Wiesel 38 people witnessed Catherine Genovese get stabbed, in three separate attacks, over a period of 35 minutes in Queens. Even as the assailant returned twice to finish off the job people still did nothing to intervene. This is called the bystander effect. This is a psychological phenomenon that describes the decrease in a person s likliness to help someone in need when there are other witnesses around. As found in most everyday crimes, the bystander effectwas also found during the Holocaust. In Night, by Elie Wiesel, the bystander effect is revealed due to one s inability to help others in need because of fear they will be persecuted as well. The Jews of Sighet did nothing to help the foreigners being expelled from the area, Elie could not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I kept silent. In fact, I thought of stealing away in order not to suffer the blows (Wiesel 54). This is a prime example of the bystander effect because it shows a witness that is frozen and unable to act for a certain reason. In this situation Elie can not help his father because he knows that if he does, then he will suffer a beating as well. He would rather slip away then help his father in order to escape a beating. Fear locks Elie as a bystander unable to act but only watch. Prisoners during the holocaust normally could do nothing to help family, friends, and stranger who were falling victim to the Nazi regime. Many times they had to watch as their fellow prisoners were beaten and killed but could do nothing about it due to their fear. Elie describe what happened at the gallows when the young boy was hung, Then came the march past the victims. The two men were no longer alive. Their tongues were hanging out, swollen and bluish. But the third rope was still moving the child, too light, was still breathing... (Weisel 65). After the execution each prisoner had to walk past the boy, but yet again could do nothing but watch him die. They knew that if they help the child then they would either be beaten or even worse, killed. These prisoners once again fall victim to the bystander effect because they are unable to help someone in need because of their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief Have you ever wondered why Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was created after Danaus, Perseus, and the Gorgon ? Well, the story Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is a modernized version of Danaus, Perseus, and the Gorgon ; it connects/modernizes its events, character types, and themes. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief modernized the events in Danaus, Perseus, and the Gorgon . First, the author writes, Looking into the mirroring shield, Perseus swooped down, and with one deft stroke he cut off Medusas head, (D aulaires, 118). This shows that Perseus overcame the monster in the plot, and in the movie, Percy also overcame his monster and did the same thing to Medusa. Next, in the movie, Percy accepts his destiny and goes to save his mom (Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief). Relating to the hero s journey crossing the threshold, Percy goes to save his mom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, in the beginning, Percy was born as a demigod of the god of Poseidon which is the god of the sea (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). Just like in the original story, Perseus was born as the son of a demigod, so he also was an unusual birth. Next, the narrator states, As he stood at a crossroad wondering which way to go, Athena and Hermes suddenly appeared. Zeus had sent them to help him, (D aulaires, 117). Supernatural help is always a good thing, which is why Percy also had supernatural help (Grover and Annabeth). Lastly, when Percy was dueling Annabeth and got hurt, he went to the water, healed himself, and discovered that he had water powers (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief). This shows that he is a prodigy hero, and so is Perseus because Perseus discovers his skill when he uses his gear and sword to kill monsters that he faces. Therefore, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief modernized hero types and archetypes in Danaus, Perseus, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Women In Post-Civil War America In post Civil War America, there were two main groups facing discrimination and hardship, despite the rapid rate of the country s expansion. These two groups were Native Americans and women. American western expansion made the conflict with Native Americans practically inevitable. Henry Clay even went as far as stating that their complete disappearance from the human family would be no great loss to the world . The westward movement and territorial expansion from the Louisiana Purchase created a devastating loss to the indigenous peoples. The settlers were ignorant and mistreated the natives and their entire culture. It was assumed by the settlers that any land they may stumble upon that seemed empty or unsettled by their own colonized standards was up for the taking and now theirs to have. They forced their religious beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Innumerable amounts of indigenous people and tribes were double crossed by white settlers in treaties with the use of the basically fraudulent legal proceedings. Indigenous people were not held to the same social standings as most Americans and were constantly belittled and taken advantage for the sake of American advancement. Women in post Civil War times were also dealing with the unreasonable limitations of American democracy . Women were not even allowed to vote let alone hold many rights in a social standpoint. Women enacted many suffrage movements fighting for their right to vote and have their voices heard. Temperance movements aimed to completely thwart, or at least moderate, drinking alcohol. Though these movements both suffered daunting opposition, women quickly became the face of social reform. Even though they still did not have many basic rights, they made advances in education, teaching. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Mattel s Stereotypes Barbie has been a household name for decades and many kids around the world love and adore her greatly. Through the years Barbie has been at the top without any challengers to bring her down. Executives and shareholder love the way in which Barbie conquers all of the competition. Since its inception in 1945, Mattelhas been collecting market intelligence in some form (Nash Duvall, 2005). As a man, I even understood the importance of Barbie to little girls growing up. Around Christmas, Barbie had all the commercials appealing to the little girls and tweens. Like any superpower, including countries and toys, there is sure to be challenges out there with someone looking to dethrone the best. Mattel somehow felt that there was no way anyone could dethrone Barbie, or steal much of her profits. They were quite wrong in their thinking and paid for it with their bottom line. Although Mattel has focus groups and professionals who sampled the pool of kids to define what they like, they failed miserably in seeing that things were changing significantly. When companies are caught on their heels, it takes a while to react and that can cost millions. In this case, a sluggish reaction by Mattel executives cost them in excess of 20 million, over a short period of time. Girls who wanted attitude and ethnicity, not pert and pale, bought $20 million worth of Bratzdolls in the first six months they were out, and the doll line went on to win the People s Choice Toy of the Year award from ... • 8. Lab Report Cell Diffusion Lab Report Introduction: Background Information The plasma membrane of a cell is like the skin of a human. It is selectively permeable which means it selects what it wants to allow into the cell and blocks out what it doesn t want. The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer which contains 75% phospholipids, about 20% cholesterol and 5% glycolipids. Phospholipids are amphipathic which means they contain both polar and non polar parts, these are their polar heads and non polar tails. The lipid bilayeris like a sandwich in which the polar heads are the bread of the sandwich and one slice of bread faces the extracellular fluid and the other faces the cytosol. The non polar tails are like the contents inside of the sandwich.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It showed that if the pore of a membrane is not large enough, diffusion will not occur. However, if the pore was large enough and diffusion subsequently occurred, the rate of diffusion was the same even if the molecular weight cut off (pore size) was bigger. The following solutes and their simple diffusion data will be explained in order from smallest to largest, smallest being one that was able to fit through smaller a pore size. NaCl was able to diffuse starting at 50 MWCO and the pore size there after did not affect the rate of diffusion, (0.0150 mM/min) which stayed was the same. Urea was not able to diffuse until 100 MWCO and the rate of diffusion stayed the same at 0.0094 mM/min. Glucose was able to diffuse only at a 200 MWCO and Albumin was too large to fit through any of the pore sizes and did not diffuse. Activity two: Simulating Facilitated Diffusion This activity did support the hypothesis which was that the rate of diffusion increases when the quantity of carrier proteins increases. One thing to be noted is that when the glucose concentration was increased the rate of diffusion also increased which was not something that was expected. However if there are not enough carrier proteins available to combine with the solute not all of the solute will be transported/diffused down the concentration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. My Life In The Trenches Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific stench of the soldiers who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the families of those lost brothers of mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons, husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to my brothers I have lost. I try to justify... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that holding our ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved city, Paris. Although we know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a chance to drive those nasty Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the sleep I longed for had eluded me as normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost no one on our side got much sleep. Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious, excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no good way to fight a battle in these trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger on Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others, but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us that I find pride in ... While that is partially true, myths are generally traditional tales that primarily revolve around specific people and religious beliefs. The most prevailing myths that orbit around today s standards are creation myths. Basically, they are theories about how humanity emerged and how the world was created. As I read Greek Creation and The Algonquin Myth of Michabo , I perceived that they are both obviously very distinctive from each other, but in a way they share the same idea or interpretation about how the world and humanity was formed. They scattered the ground in a haphazard manner, not dissimilar to the state of the thoughts swirling through the mind of the lone man, disconsolate and determined to regain a semblance of balance in his life. He strode purposefully towards his vengeful destination. With his worn out greased overalls and his intrinsic grey flat cap, he passed through the elaborate, elite fields of West Egg, also known as the land of new money , embarking towards this mansion. Located at the very end of West Egg, bordering the sound, rested the extravagant white mansion. Stealthily, he moved towards his target, Jay Gatsby. For all George Wilson was concerned, he had been contemplating whether or not this man was responsible for the tragic death of his beloved wife, Myrtle. He walked further: to within the rear of the luxurious pearl white mansion. An old piano, sat as to enamel Gatsby s supposedly elite position. Gatsby s abode was embellished with unique russet velvety walls and glazed coffee wooden floorboards. After Wilson s entrance, via an unlocked rear door, he imagined himself taking a drink with his girl in such a fine room, but that possibility did not exist. This man named Gatsby had ruined it all for him. George was a simple kind of guy. He always dreamed of living in West Egg with his wife; he wanted the best for Myrtle. During the time period, this case revealed the brutal treatment towards African Americans more than any other event. The case began on March 25, 1931, when a group of young white and African American youths were traveling on a train to find a job. A physical encounter broke out between them and the white youths were thrown out of the train. Then they reported the incident to a stationmaster, who stopped the train. The police arrived to gather the nine African Americans and brought them to jail. Nine young African Americans were recognized as the Scottsboro boys . They were accused of rape of two white women on that train. The white jury convicted eight of them, all except one, the youngest at 12 years old, and were sentenced to death. These youths were falsely charged with raping two white women in Alabama. Although there was no evidence that linked the African Americans to the white women, they were still charged with sexual assault. The two women fearing prosecution for their sexual relationship with the white men agreed to testify against the black youths. • 18. The Field Of Anthropology As A Field Attempts to understand other cultures have seemingly existed all throughout human history, yet the methods for doing so have changed over time. The field of anthropology dates back to the late 19th century, and when it reached the United States, it became even more WORD widespread? Since then, it has continued to develop as a field, with new approaches becoming standard about every twenty years. Two of the main approaches to writing works of ethnographyinclude ethnographic accounts of a cultureforeign to the writer, and fictional stories, often based on the culture the writer himself belongs to. Each approach has its strengths and drawbacks, and both seek to achieve different objectives, but works of both styles have gained popularity for their insightful and thought provoking commentary. Each method has a unique set of advantages to offer, and the cultivation of anthropologyas a field has only furthered their influence. In the 1980s, a trend of objectivism spread across works of anthropology, which made sense, since the founding fathers of the field were primarily scholars of science. This background influenced how they viewed other cultures, compelling them to approach the societies they studied as part of a controlled experimental setting and analyze how individual elements in this closed system were interrelated and how they interacted (Kohl 556). In the mid 1990s, a budding approach to ethnography by George Marcus was centered on a very different principle; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The black males in the novel are portrayed as cruel, as they live in a world where white men rule and feel like less of a man and because of this they take out their anger and frustration on the black females. Walker starts her novel with Celie s letter describing the brutal rape by her father. Walker writes He just say you gonna do what your mammy wouldn t. Archeologists have discovered that this ancient Egyptian society was highly complex, and have found evidence of burial rituals, religious beliefs, and a sophisticated form of writing. During the first few centuries of Egyptian urbanization, a group of small nomes, or chiefdoms, were unified under military conquest. This in turn created a signal state around 3150 B.C.E. According to Egyptologist Fekri Hassan Egyptian religionduring this time was based around female deities. Goddesses were seen to be associated with birth, death, and resurrection. He was raised by his mother Eliza Grace Symonds Bell, who was nearly deaf, but was an accomplished pianist and encouraged Alexander to undertake big challenges, and his father Alexander Melville Bell. Alexander Graham Bell was one of three children and was home schooled until age 11. He did not do very well in school academically, but he did enjoy science and had a great ability to solve problems. Growing up, Alexander became very interested in his father s business, which focused on oral education for the deaf. The business focused on Visual Speech, which was a system of symbols to aid people in speaking words in any language even if they had never heard it before. Alexander Graham Bellhad high hopes for oral education and communication, and wanted to learn more about it. During his college years, Alexander Graham Bell received his education from the University of London where he studied under his grandfather who was a noted speech teacher. Over the years, Alexander made his way around the world, teaching people about, and promoting, oralism. During this time, Alexander attracted parents of deaf children who wanted their children to speak. Alexander truly believed that without the ability to speak, deaf people would never be able to fully participate in society. • 34. Ian Mcdonald s A Kingdom Forgotten A Kingdom Forgotten is a rather curious beast. The story breaks with the concept of linear time, allowing the protagonists to interact with various points of history and manipulate key events in order to fulfill a grand master plan . While there are many different narratives in this book, A Kingdom Forgotten mostly focused on the story of Damon and Radin. The former is potentially the most powerful wizard (or lamean as McDonald calls them) in the universe while the later stumbles across a bit of prophecy which takes his life in a new and very unexpected direction. Ultimately the story is about the end times of the universe and the battle between good and evil. Both sides of this coin are represented by a variety of different forces, though it remains unknown which side McDonald intends for Damon to be on, and all have their own hand schemes that they are trying to bring to fruition. Some seem to want to destroy all of creation while others naturally try to stop them. This is where things start to become a little stretched. By its very nature, A Kingdom Forgotten is a convoluted and twisting story which jumps from place to place and time to time almost randomly to reveal events that will eventually come together to form the end goal of the plot. Integrated Services Digital Network ( Isdn ) Before we get into the discussion, let s briefly introduce some of the technologies used in WANs and the different characteristics of each one: Point to point links A so called point to point link (Fig. 2.0) provides a pre established WAN communication path from the user s location trough a telephone company s network, also known as the carrier. For this kind of line, the carrier dedicates pairs of wire and hardware to that line only. This kind of circuits are priced depending on bandwidth needed and distance to be covered. (Figure 2.0 Point to point link) Circuit Switching Work like a normal telephone line. Data connections can be started when needed and terminated when the communication is over. An example of circuit switching is called Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). When a router receives data that s intended to go to a specific remote site, the switched circuit (Fig. 2.1) is initiated with a specific circuit number for that particular network. As soon the two networks that are trying to connect get the authentication done, it is possible to transfer data. When data transmission is over, the communication gets terminated. (Figure 2.1 Switched Circuit) Packet Switching Here users share common carrier resources (Fig. 2.2). This is a more cost effective solution compared for example to point to point lines. The carrier can make more efficient use of its infrastructure. Connections into the carrier s network are shared between many customers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Leadership Is The Best Leadership Leadership is fundamental to every successful process known to mankind. There must always be someone who is willing to initiate the first step, and by example, others are given inspiration or purpose to follow suit. Though many definitions exist, Josh Kuehler captures the essence of leadership in business by noting Leadership is the ability to inspire motivation in others to move toward a desirable vision. While management is focused on tasks, leadership is focused on the person. All in all, the best leadership drives change and long lasting motivation. (Helmrich, 2015, p. 1) Given the thousands of leadership definitions, why did I choose this one? Because it clearly highlights a clear difference between leadership and management. Leadership is about people, not about processes, and people enable a strong ethics program. Therefore, my belief is that leadership, not management is the primary catalyst behind a flexible yet sustainable ethics program in any organization, private or public. Whether establishing, modifying, or cultivating a successful ethics program, leadership involvement at all levels of an organization is absolutely paramount. I ll use our very own United States Air Force as an example, as I spent 23 years in the organization. There are many voices that speak of the streetwear culture: what it is or once was, how it all started and where it is heading. Streetwear is not just some fad or a passing trend. It is nothing but pure talent and passion, and the vision to stand out from the rest. It is a fashionmovement, primarily for the youth who roam the streets expressing their interests, cultural identity, and common scenarios that take place in their urban catwalks. For the youth, streetwear can be the most effective form of self expression. Rather than representing a set of brands or clothes, streetwear represents a lifestyle. Streetwear is a philosophy espousing a do it yourself spirit that once emerged from an urging urban youth culture, which wanted something different and unique. On the two opposite ends of the spectrum a combatant poses either a culpable threat or an excused threat. If a combatant poses a culpable threat he poses a threat of wrongful harm to others and he is not justified, premised, nor excused in his actions (McMahan 159). If a combatant poses an excused threat, he poses a justified threat of harm and is therefore fully excused for his actions. In addition to the legality of a combatant s actions, just wartheory concerns itself with the morality of a combatant s actions. This is an important fact to recognize because, often times, terms will have a slightly different moral definition than the tradition legal definition with which average persons are familiar. Before proceeding any further, it is of vast important to understand the terms excuse and permission as a just wartheorists understands them to mean. For the interest of this paper, when a combatant performs a wrongful act, whether it be moral or legally wrong, but the combatant is not blameworthy, he is excused. (McMahan 110). Popular culture is the ideas, attitudes, thinking, memes, images, and other phenomena that are in the mainstream of a given culture, especially the western culturein the early 20th century to the middle 20th century and the emerging global mainstream in the early 20th and the 21st century. • 55. Designing A New Computer System Case Study 1 Three friends have asked me to configure a new computer for each one of them. The first one is a gamer, and she needs a competitive gaming system. Another wants to purchase a computer for her home office where she has a small travel agency company, and the third would like a notebook or laptop computer that he can use for schoolwork. Each one of my friends has a $2000.00 budget to create the perfect computer system for each of their needs. First, we will create the perfect gaming system for my friend in need. With the gaming system we will be starting from scratch. First things first, obtain an AMD FX6350 6 core processor. It is able to run games at high settings, and there is not much difference between AMD s and Intel s in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two have been tested against one another, and honestly there is really not much different between the two in game playing performances. However, the SSD has proven to be drastically faster than the HD. I am going to go with the SSD with this gaming system because it loads faster, transitioning maps throughout the game is significantly faster, and overall it means that your computer will boot at a significantly faster. Overall one would have a better experience because it makes the overall functionality of the computer better as a whole. The Samsung 840 EVO 240 GB would be a great one to choose. It can be found for $129.99. It is a little on the pricey side, but it will be well worth it. Next we need to configure a reliable computer system for my friend that has a small, at home travel agency. With this system I would also recommend buying an already made system, and perhaps doing a few upgrades. Dell has the OptiPlex 3020 Micro which is a descent system for an at home business. It comes with an Intel Pentium G3240T Processor which is dual core with HD Graphics. This dual core processor has plenty of horsepower to work with for a small business, so there is really no need in upgrading this to a quad core processor. It will allow you to answer e mails while running Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with the Web browser. It also comes with 4 gigabytes of RAM, and there is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Fawn Grove Warehouse Case Study NCM has never owned a facility to store donated commodity; they have always relied on the donor to house the commodity to be donated. Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene used the church building until a 108,000 square foot warehouse was built in 2001. NCM contributed funds toward the warehouse, but it was owned by the Fawn Grove Church. The commodity inside the warehouse belonged to NCM, and NCM employed a warehouse manager, an office assistant, and a packing assistant to maintain the warehouse and the commodity received. John Borgal, warehouse manager, was responsible for keeping the warehouse storage inventoried and well organized. I was able to visit the warehouse on several occasions and provided John with suggestions for improvement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Descriptive Language In The Contender By Robert Lipsyte Description begins in the writer s imagination, but should finish in the reader s. Stephen King. Descriptive language helps to create a picture in the reader s mind. Authors can create descriptive language through narration or dialogue. In the novel The Contender, by Robert Lipsyte, the author uses descriptive language and dialogue to develop the characters and the setting. In The Contender, the author Robert Lipsyteuses descriptive language throughout the whole story. One example of descriptive language in the story is on page 47. It says, The second sit up was harder than the first, and the third was harder still. But by the fourth sit up his muscles began to get warm, like a car engine heating up on a cold morning.. In the text it says that each sit up was harder than the last but by the last sit up he began to get used to it. This quote shows you what the character, Alfred, is doing and how it felt to do the activity he was doing physically. A second example of descriptive language in the story is on page 54. It says, Alfred caught his breath. It was huge. It was almost a circle, and the seats rose right up the walls toward a ceiling of cables and beams. In the center of the floor, gleaming white under hundreds of spotlights, was the ring. The ropes were wrapped in velvet. In this quote the author is trying to paint a picture in the reader s mind by using descriptive words like huge and wrapped in velvet to describe items, objects and the setting that the ... • 59. Behavior Change Project Examples I chose to do my behavior change project on improving my diet. I put my own little twist on it with the way I measured my success and I had to supplement it to reach my goals, but I feel that it was done really well. My goal was at the end of the four weeks to be able to run 3.1 miles in 18:45. I have run times close to this before, but that was a couple of years ago. At the beginning of this project my time for 3.1 miles was 20:36. I knew that if I was committed and worked really hard that I would be able to do it though. I chose to measure my behavior change this way due to the fact that I have a very busy life and I am on the high school cross country team. I figured I would already be running each week and I have a raceevery week that I can measure my time against my goal. So I was just trying to save some time in my schedule by partially combining two activities. My goal for the end of the first week was to be able to run 3.1 miles in 20:00. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem that I referred to when talking about my difficulties in week one, was the surprise trip. My dad decided this year that he wanted to go the annual air race championships in Reno, Nevada. I was not expecting this to fall in the middle of behavior change project. This trip made it really easy to get the three miles in and hard to get the healthy meals in. Since we were trying to avoid spending too much money we were just eating at small diners and fair type food that were close by. I tried to mitigate the damage by ordering the healthiest alternative that I could find, but that did not always work. The other unforeseen difficulty was the addition of a new vending machine at my school. It is right in the main hallway and full of only unhealthy options. I dealt with this by not bringing any small bills to school. This allowed me to walk past it without the ability thereby removing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
