Compromise Of Reconstruction
Though there were many political, economic, and social reforms introduced during the period of
reconstruction after the Civil War, only some lasted for a period of time. The Compromise of 1877
disputed in the presidential election in 1876. Not only did this compromise keep people from selecting
a president, it also brought the changes in political, social, and economic climates in the South. As a
result of the Compromise of 1877 it effectively marked the end of reconstruction. During the time of
reconstruction, the 13th amendment abolished slavery. It was one of the influential amendments
passed in the constitution. It officially abolished and prohibited slavery and forced an ending to
slavery all over the South. The Southern states that

Family Incarceration In The Family
The relationship between family members incarceration, other than grandmothers, and criminality in a
male youth resulted in a greater probability of a boy s arrest (Nichols Loper, 2012). The negative
effects of incarceration extend beyond the influence of a household member s incarceration on
development can be understood best from a developmental bio ecological model and influenced by
proximal interactions within immediate circumstances such as the home, which originally was referred
to as the microsystem (Nichols Loper, 2012). The growth is not restricted to the mother child
relationship and can be influenced by any ongoing relationships within the youth s direct situation,
including any adult living within the home (Nichols Loper, 2012). Although, imprisonment can
influence the child s exosystem, which includes the larger social context such as the family s poverty,
stress, social support and caregiver characteristics (Nichols Loper, 2012). Extended kin such as
grandmothers, a higher levels of perceived support were associated with higher teacher bonding and
stronger work orientation in both black and white youths (Nichols Loper, 2012).
Children whose parents are incarcerated constitute a growing population within the communities. An
estimated two million children that have a parent who is currently incarcerated and that number does
not include children whose parents have been previously incarcerated and released or those whose
parents are under some

Oedipus Moral Dilemmas
Moral Dilemmas Portrayed in World Literature For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking
makes it so (Shakespeare 688). For centuries, authors, poets and philosophers have used their writings
to convey to their readers a code of conduct for life regardless of their religion, race, gender and
cultural background. Literature is full of epic vices that are either from a particular era, religion or a
setting which makes them specific and relatable only for specific populations. Every religion has its
own checklist of sin and virtue. However, the clear distinction between right and wrong is boundless
and timeless in every era, religion or culture. The concept of morality is portrayed in ancient and
medieval literature and the moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, one of the major moral lessons conveyed by this play is that relating to hubris, meaning
excessive pride. His pride was based on two things; his wisdom and his kingship. He believed he
knew what a common man did not since he was the one to solve the riddle of the Sphinx. His
excessive pride and blind arrogance can especially be witnessed where he gets furious over the blind
prophet Tiresias who personifies truth in the play. When Tiresias indirectly calls Oedipus a desperate
fool to be living a life of sin and ignorance, Oedipus explodes with rage and ridicules the prophet for
his blindness and replies boastfully that When the Sphinx who barked black songs was hounding us

so blinded by his intellect and power that he tried to ignore the truth by blaming others to be envious
of his wealth and power. According to him Wealth and a king s power, the skill that wins every time

The Is An Acronym Recreational Equipment Inc.
REI is an acronym Recreational Equipment Inc. This is an American retail and free services
corporation that aims at providing fun to the citizens of America at large. It is one of the best service
providers when it comes to hiking, camping, sporting and other traveling equipment.
The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm.
The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S. Economy
has truly possessed the capacity to mitigate the effect of downturns in local retail buyer spending. This
is because of substantial exchange with outside countries. The consequence of this is retailers are
encountering noteworthy decreases in deals because of individuals taking care of on their outgoings
and furrowing into their properties or somewhere else, consequently the economy withstands a lot of
challenges while trying to maintain its position (Mook, Quarter, Armstrong, Whitman, 2015).
Therefore, customers in the US have reduced the rate at which they purchase or search for REI
services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to cope with some
changes. (Reis et al, 2016)
The global typically has some effects on the whole marketing and retailing strategy of REI, in the
same way as other US firms, are growing their operations into abroad markets. As they do as such, the

Pope John Paul II Research Paper
When Pope John Paul II, now St. John Paul II, was elected to the papacy in 1978, he became the first
Polish pope to serve in the history of the Vatican. He began his life s journey in a small town and went
through suffering loss of family, Nazi s invasion, and the steps to become a great pope and eventually
saint. St. John Paul II was one of the most influential people of the 20th and early 21st century
because of the people who influenced him leading him to become pope and modernized the Catholic
church. Born May 18, 1920, under the name Karol Józef Wojtyla, he, was exposed to the reality of
death at a young age. He was the last of three children born to Karol Sr, and Emilia Wojtyla and the
only child to live into his old age. Olga Wojtyla, Karol s older sister, died six years before him a short
time after birth. His mother, Emilia, started to become ill afterwards and died of heart and kidney

On May 13, 1981, while riding in the popemobile, Pope John Paul II was shot two times. One shot
went into his abdomen and the other nearly missing his heart. He was taken to the local hospital in
critical condition but made a full recovery. John Paul II s recovery seems almost impossible for him
being older and how dangerously close the shots were to his heart, but what really made people notice
how great of man he was what he did a few years after the shooting. On December 28, 1983, Pope
John Paul II traveled to the turkish prison where Mehmet Ali Ağca, his assassin was being held. He
talked with Mehmet for a few hours and finally told Mehmet the he forgave him. This touched
Mehmet so much that when the pope died, April 2, 2005, he came to his grave and place flowers on it.

to assume rather than understand students because they re human after all. No matter what class you

According to a teacher, lunch is more versatile to students because there s nothing expected of them.
As a result, Studying isn t a students main priority at lunch. It would just be a waste of time because
student s won t be working. This then brings up the idea of working in the library and college career
center, that it would be more of a social hour mean more talking less working. Looking at another
teacher interview, working in either location would be a waste of time because there would be more
downtime than work. As a result, both locations wouldn t be utilized probably. Going back to the
survey, 54.1% of students do not utilize Vons homework café/tutoring services. If students aren t going
to utilize current tutoring resources, what makes you think that they ll utilize their lunch? At the same
time, there isn t much time during lunch to study. Some students go to their lockers, sit down and eat,
or whatever they do for the first 10 20 minutes of lunch. In fact, the survey shows that students spend

during lunch because time seems to be the enemy. Ultimately, a student s lunch period cannot be

Beethoven and the Classical and Romantic Periods Essay
Out of all of Beethoven s one hundred and ten works, he wrote thirty two piano sonatas. Of those
thirty two piano sonatas, the thirty first piano sonata was one of the most important and was composed
in the year 1821towards the end of Beethoven s life. It is one of Ludwig van Beethoven s final sonatas
for the piano, given the full name: Piano Sonata No. 31 in A flat major, op. 110. I am writing about a
video performance found on YouTube by Richard Goode in 1993. The performance piece is a sonata
which is defined by Kerman as a chamber music piece in several movements (Kerman, 427) The thirty
first sonata came to be in an interesting way. Moritz Schlesinger, in the summer of 1819, had made a
request to Ludwig van Beethoven. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second movement launches itself at 6:48 in the video. Like the end of the first movement, the
second movement is loud. It is sudden and very, very noticeable. The second movement is also
marked allegro because of the quick, lively tempo that it has. Anyone should be able to easily tell
when the first movement transitions into the second movement. The third movement begins at 8:55
within the video. The third movement is an orderly part of the piece in which two slow sections of
arioso and two fast fugues alternate with one another. This movement begins with an arioso, and you
can tell because the beginning of it is quite slow especially when compared to the fast pace ending of
the second movement.
This sonata is based on two motifs, both of which you can find within the first movement. According
to author Charles Rosen, these two motifs are ascending or descending parallel fourths, and rising or
falling sixths in scale motion (Rosen, 235). The most noticeable of these motifs in the sonata are in the
recapitulation of the first movement and in the opening of the second movement which is expressed
with a six note falling scale motif. The ascending or descending parallel fourth motifs are present in
the main themes of the first movement and the fugue and in the popular theme of the scherzo. The
motifs of the rising sixths can be found in the first movement. The descending motifs which are

Recruiting Efforts In Law Enforcement
In numerous cities across the United States, a crisis is brewing in understaffed law enforcement
departments, as the administration s battle for the limited few individuals qualified and capable of
performing the required duties to fill their ranks. The improving economy, the current attitude in
society referencing police officers, a focus on negative media coverage, as well as non competitive
compensation have all been attributed to the diminished interest in careers in law enforcement (Ali,
2017). The city of Houston Texas is just one of the cities scrambling to find officers, with nearly two
thousand positions for law enforcement officers available (CNBC, 2018). Additionally, it is reported

An exact numerical figure is not necessary since you could contact most any agency in the nation and
find they are currently seeking applicants to fill vacant positions. The increase in available jobs within
the United States has created a wonderful opportunity for many Americans, consequently, this increase
has had a negative effect on the field of law enforcement. This is one of the issues the governing
officials controlling the budgets of law enforcement agencies need to be aware of. In the interest of
public safety it is important to keep experienced, well trained, educated officers on the force.
Additionally, the media, as well as some citizens, need to stop falsifying news stories, dramatizing
minor issues, moreover, giving law enforcement officers a bad reputation within our country. A recent
example of dramatization of a traffic stop was posted on social media alleging racial discrimination
and threats were made by an officer to a black female (Burkett, 2018). The female driver made
statements on video referencing a traffic stop advising she feared for her safety as an officer who had
stopped her made threats to pull her out of her vehicle. In response, the Brunswick County Sheriff s

Facilities Management in the Service Industry
This essay revolves around the critical evaluation of theories relating to management of
accommodations and facilities that can be utilised to help hotels design efficient and effective
processes. The key concepts such as process, efficiency, and effectiveness will be discussed while
justifying the methods of process analysis or design which will be highlighted in this essay. All these
topics will be critically evaluated in order to incorporate the operations management concepts of
quality, in the application of accommodation and facilities to add value and deliver efficient and
effective quality customer centric services.
Accommodation and facilities management is a complex social system which cannot be explained in

Hence, service quality should be seen as an on going process (Pallet et al, 2003) and the above QFD
model helps incorporate guests view and take into account the heterogeneity and complexity of the
hospitality experience which was not evident in the previously built models.
At the operations management (OM) level, an output based model of seven key result areas (KRAs)
for the management of the service delivery system can be used as the analytical framework, derived
from Lockwood and Jones (1990) cited in Slack et al (2007). The managed KRAs are assets,
employees, capacity (or customers), productivity, service, income (or control), and quality. Within
each area of this model there are a range of alternative operational policies and procedures that might
be adopted to reflect the type of hospitality business, its size, and its technology. For instance, yield
management is an approach to managing capacity in hotels, especially large, chain properties (Jarvis et
al., 1998); quality control is applied largely in quick service restaurants, whereas total quality
management (TQM) has been applied to a few hotels, such as Ritz Carlton.
Quality is not an absolute term. A product can be of high or low standard, yet still be of quality. For
e.g. a small barely furnished guest room, with shared bathroom facilities is a quality product if it is
perceived by the customers as fulfilling their needs for clean and comfortable overnight
accommodation. However, such a

Essay on Breastfeed No Matter Where You Are
Breastfeeding is such a natural process. It is one of the best gifts a mother can give her child.
Breastfeeding is such a great gift that is just keeps on giving all throughout a child s life. Breast milk
is a good source of protein and high in calories. The breast milk boosts the immune system, allows the
child to grow big and strong, and even makes them smarter. Despite all of these positive aspects of
breastfeeding, when people see a mother in public breastfeeding her child, they become a little
disgusted. Breastfeeding in public is legal in the United States of America. Although, some people
would rather it not be. People have left restaurants, told the mother to relocate to the restroom, and
even suggested the mother to stay home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is unsanitary and should never be a location to eat. Breastfeeding has been around for centuries and
is legal, so why stop it now? Breastfeeding in public is a civil right and should be treated like one.
There is a law in forty five states that protects mothers and allows them to breastfeed in any location
they are allowed to be in (Breastfeeding Laws). However, these laws do not protect them from
discrimination from the public. Women are being denied entry into places because of being indecent
while breastfeeding in public. There have been reports of women holding nurse ins to promote their
laws for breastfeeding in public (Grooms). Mothers who are breastfeeding that are being harassed by
companies of a public place and are told to cover up or relocate are allowed to sue according to other
laws (Solomon). Any mother does not want to have to sue anyone for the right to bond with her child
while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding allows for mothers and their babies to bond. Whether a mother and
her child are bonding in the privacy of their own home, or in public, it should be allowed no matter
where they go. Breastfeeding brings happiness to both the mother and her child. Why should a mother
have to lose the opportunity of bonding with her child in a public place just because someone gets
offended? Breastfeeding is a natural part of the human body and a natural process in assisting a child
to live and grow

the most meaningful place in the world, 2618 Upper Woods Road, Lakewood PA I constantly balled

Why Is Winston Peacock Murder
The death of Winston Peacock was in fact a suicide, not a murder. Winston was found face down,
holding a gun. He used that gun to shoot himself in the head, thus killing himself. Winston had swords
and guns on the wall. They are in a crisscrossed pattern but one of the guns is missing. The reason as
to why it is missing is because the missing gun is the gun that he is grasping in his hand. Some might
believe somebody stole the gun, shot him, and run, but it is the exact same type of gun Winston is
holding, so a hit and run cannot be a factor. The gun is in his right hand and the right side of his head
is bloody. They indeed match up. If he were to hold the gun up to his head with it in his right hand, it

Imagery Test Anxiety
Imagery Methods for Test Anxiety
Test anxiety has always been an issue I have struggled with and it has only increased since I started
University. My personal experience with test anxiety leads to physiological symptoms such as nervous
jitter, accelerated heart beats and light headedness, all of which impacts my test taking skills and
influence my decision making ability. This is a problem because although I am prepared with the
knowledge for an exam, it still affects my judgement when writing my answers and thus causes an
impact on my grades.
A study by Rebecca Stephens (1992), Imagery: A Treatment for Nursing Student Anxiety , explained
imagery methods that were proven effective among nursing students experiencing similar anxiety.
Nursing students are subjected to midterms and exams as are students in other programs, and although
the material is different it is the fear before writing a test that causes the anxiety. This makes it
applicable to my specific situation because although I am a Human Kinetics major, I am required to

The British House Of Lords Select Committee On Medical Ethics
There are different euthanasia laws in each country. The British House of Lords Select Committee on
Medical Ethics defines euthanasia as a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express intention of
ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering
On November 2, 2014, a twenty nine year old woman named Brittany Maynard choose to end her life
by lethal medication. Less than a year prior, she was diagnosed with a terminal glioblastoma brain
cancer, giving her only months left to live. She moved from her home in California to Oregon,
because Oregon has a law permitting physicians to supply patients with the means to take their own
life. Right before her death she released a statement saying: Today is the day I have chosen to pass
away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness, this terrible brain cancer has taken so much from
me...but would have taken so much more (Egan). The circumstances of her death has caused a lot of
controversy. Many believe that Maynard s choice has demeaned human the value of human life; others
have supported her decisions to end her life on her own terms. The reality of Maynard s situation is
that, in the end stages of her disease, she would be afflicted with violent seizures and hallucinations

Lyme Disease Assignment
For this assignment, I interviewed a close friend, Dana Rivard. Dana is also a first year student; she is
from Massachusetts and majoring in Health Sciences. In a friendly conversation, a few weeks ago she
mentioned having Lyme disease. I grew up in a rural part of Indiana so my childhood consisted of
playing outside almost everyday. My front yard is full of trees, and because I live in a very forested
area right across from a corn field, these trees often have ticks. My parents always warned us to be
cautious of ticks by using insect repellant and making sure we were wearing long clothing if we were
going to be close to the trees. Our dogs would often get a tick here or there that my parents would
have to pull off, but only once or twice do I remember one of my siblings or cousins getting a tick on
them. My parents and grandparents always warned us about Lyme disease, because it was such a
prevalent topic in Indiana. As a child, it seemed as if my parents were overreacting, which is why it
was so interesting to see that Dana had gotten Lyme disease.
According to the CDC, Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Accounting System
Accounting is an essential part in order for a business to operate, no matter the size is big or small,

Strategic Discussion on U.S Airline Industry
Discussion Question 1: Use the model of the general environment (Chapter 2, Table 2.1) to evaluate
the opportunities and threats facing the U.S. airline industry and Southwest Airlines in particular.
What are the key opportunities and threats?
The health of the overall U.S airline industry is still tenuous in spite of the passenger traffic volumes
returning to pre 9/11 levels. A survey estimated that from 2001 through 2003, the US airline industry
reported to have lost $23.2 billion dollars, compounded by an additional $1.6 billion in the first

• The industry forecast an increase in tax on the operating income which will further reduce the net

airlines have retrenched their operations and other airlines have not pursued their operation. In mature
market, the new entrant will face stiff competition from low cost airlines and the legacy airlines. 2)

Rhetorical Techniques In Fight Club
Lit Analysis Paper In Chuck Palahniuk s novel Fight Club the main character is in fact never named
throughout the book. He s never called by his name or even speaks of it. We re forced to view in the
3rd person, the events and life of this character and the battle he endeavors with insomnia and the
suspicions friends that he meets. Tyler Durden comes along when the narrator is in need of a friend
and turns out being a terrible influence, but is his closest friend. It was his idea to start the fight club to
let out frustrations and anger of everyday guys that want to walk into their boss s office and upper cut
them. Palahniuk s usage of imagery, diction, and foreshadowing shows the physical, and
psychological, battle that the narrator is enduring. The title of the novel suggest that the entirety of the
story is about fighting. Though it is about fighting, it s not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its the bridge that connects one idea to another. All night long I was dreaming I was humping Marla
Singer. (56). This is the first noticeable piece of foreshadowing in the novel when you re left confused,
why was it written in the first place. The narrator claims to have a strong dislike for Marla, that is
reaffirmed in later pages of the book. It was written to show the split of the narrator s psyche. How the
narrator is slowly deteriorating mentally from holding in two personalities and the other one being
strongly destructive. The erosion to his mental stability is also evident with the little tangents that the
narrator takes that often show how out of touch he is. The imagery to foreshadowing connection is not
uncommon in Fight Club, is a strategy that is comfortable for Palahniuk to use to get his point across;
only after you cross a very winding road to eventually get to his point of intent. The intent is so
noticeable when you realize it. You feel stupid you didn t see it before, was just so well

EMBA Organisational Behaviour Coursework Analysis of BBC 1. Analyse the culture of the BBC at
the time that Dyke took over. To what degree is it facilitating the success of the BBC? The BBC was
set up in 1922 as a public service broadcaster. The BBC quickly became a household name and played
a part in shaping British culture. Company culture is the values and beliefs shared by the members of a

Dyke undertook an extended walkabout away from the BBC s corporate centre in London in a bid to
get to the grass roots of the business. He met with employees and asked How can I make a difference?
and he listened to what people had to say and did not express any opinions. He also quickly gained
respect at the top of the organisation using similar tactics and Mark Byford described what he really
liked about ...him and me is we talk a lot about the wider BBC together, not just World services. He
doesn t say everything he does is right, he asks, what do you think . On his appointment Dyke was not
a popular choice as Director General only gaining his position on a 7 5 vote so his ability to influence
at all levels was important. Those with symbolic power can change people s understanding of a
situation so that they adopt your goals as their own. Dyke s process power due to his formal status
held in the organisation hierarchy allows him to be able to stop/start or influence processes in order to
achieve a desired outcome. Immediately after starting, Dyke launched an organisational review of the
broadcast division and he later extended this to the whole of the BBC (Keys, 2006). Dyke s process

FIFA 18 Essay
Last year, FIFA 17 was the best selling game on the PS4 with over a whopping 10 million units sold
worldwide. Not only did it perform exceptionally well on the PlayStation, on all platforms, it came
second to Pokemon Sun/Moon on the 3DS. Unquestionably, EA s FIFA series is huge.
It s fair to say, certainly by now at least, EA Sports know that they re going to top the sales charts each
year. While it s possible this may cause complacency, EA never seem to rest on their laurels. Although
last year saw significant refinements from FIFA 16 to 17, there certainly isn t as many wholesale
changes in FIFA 18. However, subtle improvements to the gameplay, as well as new features in the
Career Mode means FIFA 18 is EA s most complete FIFA to date. ... Show more content on

Pleasingly, although not perfectly, FIFA 18 stays true to the style of play certain teams are known for.
Though one can argue that this was true of FIFA 17 and to a degree, previous installments, the
2017/2018 season is still in its infancy and where Liverpool play a similar way to last season, Man
City s attacking style is slighly different with FIFA 18 mimicking it rather well.
The care for attention to detail is also true to that of individulal players. While it would be impossible
to uniquely program thousands of players individually, the bigger name, as well as some lesser known
players, all have their own style of play. Of course, Ronaldo and Messi play like their real life
counterparts but it s refreshing to see a player like Matt Ritchie behave in a similar fashon to real life.
While tactical set ups and individual players are sound, as far as AI behaviour goes when adapting
during a match, I haven t noticed too many differences between FIFA s 17 and 18. However, one
noticible difference involves how teams react when falling a goal or two behind.
One gripe I ve always had of FIFA games is how the AI reacts to going a goal or two down early on.
Teams tend to go kamikaze and pile men forward prematurity leaving gaps in defence. This behaviour
is common at the latter stages of a real match but not so much early on. With FIFA 18, teams do seem
less partial to keep throwing men forward nonsensically when falling behind, now only doing so when

South China Sea Dispute
ABSTRACT
Nowadays, the conflict of territory solving in the world causes many complicated problems among
countries, as well as tensions in foreign policies. One of these conflicts is the dispute in South China
Sea between China and six neighbor ASEAN countries. With the intervention of the United States, the
issue turns to be more serious as it attracts a lot of concerns from international community. This
research tries to find a clear way of understanding the South China Sea conflict, specifically about the
effort of China and Vietnam to gain the control over the two groups of islands: Paracel and Spratly.
The hypothesis intends to express the possibility about Vietnam s victory in this conflict with the help
of the United States. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What are possible impacts of the outcome of if the United States interferes with the dispute.
This research tries to present both sides of the argument on the control over the islands from the
Chinese and Vietnamese point of view, but has an emphasis on how the United States plays a vital role
in the resolution of this dispute.
Chapter 1 Historical Background
1.1 The Spratly and Paracel Islands
In order to better understand the dispute of these islands and this body of water, geography plays a
role considering the area sea is located to borders on many different regions. According Chmillier
Gendreau (2000), the south west of the Indian Ocean, the sea connects with the Straits of Malacca and
Singapore. To the north east, the sea connects with the Sea of Japan and the Strait of Korea. The
position of this body of water is interconnected with many other bodies of waters which coincide with
many countries. The islands residing in the middle of this sea therefore lies in the middle of many
different countries. The two islands, Spratly and Paracel Islands lie in the middle of the maritime zone.
Since it is in the middle, no neighboring country is really physically connected to these islands by
geography (Chemillier Gendreau, 2000, p. 16). Despite that fact, China and Vietnam both claim
sovereignty over these islands based on historical and

European Travel and the Spread of Western Ideology Essay
European Travel and the Spread of Western Ideology
Humans began their existence as travelers, slowly making their way across the earth hunting and
gathering. This travel was quite slow and gradual, and could be termed a period of human expansion ,
as traveling groups rarely encountered other humans. It really wasn t until the sixteenth century that a
new kind of travel developed, a kind that was more global, occurred rapidly, and was filled with many
encounters with other civilizations. This sort of travel signified not simply the spreading of humans
across the earth, but more the spreading of ideas among people. And during this particular period, the
travelers were predominantly European, and so it was Europeans who, believing in ... Show more

The Europeans had a huge effect on the local peoples in the various regions that they visited. For one
thing, they brought with them many germs. As Diamond noted, the importance of lethal microbes in
history is well illustrated by Europeans conquest and depopulation of the New World (210). The
microbes killed Aztecs, Inca, and the populations of many Indian towns in the Mississippi.
Additionally, Eurasian germs played a key role in decimating native peoples in many other parts of the
world, including Pacific Islanders, Aboriginal Australians, and the Khoisan peoples of Southern
Africa... the Indian population of Hispaniola... Fiji (Diamond, 213). Because of this, European
immigrants came to supplant... much of the native population of the Americas and some other parts of
the world. (Diamond, 214). So, it came to be true that, if in nothing else, the Europeans certainly came
to outnumber many of the native peoples in many of the areas that they occupied. This gave them
added power over them, if only because of their larger numbers.
However, it was not simply the germs that the Europeans brought with them that altered life for the
native people. The technology that the Europeans had, while at first not superior, quickly became
superior. The Europeans rapidly improved upon [military technology naval artillery and sailing ships]

The mid term strategic plan of Matav is: expansion in Hungary; regional penetration; organic growth
in existing product lines. Business units operate separate management teams, allowing each unit to
focus on their areas of enterprise. They develop mobile services to attract customers in order to pick
their product over competitors. Also, Matav was keen to expand through the Balkan region and
southeastern regions of Europe such as Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, due to its well performance in

YES
Rational expansion experience with the success of MakTel made Matav as a local expertise in
Southern Europe: Matav transferred its knowledge of a financial control system, professional
regulatory management and tariff packages to rebalance fixed line fees . Maktel increased the number
of fixed lines by 21 percent from 2000 to 2003 and mobile subscribers were five times higher in 2003

How Did Shakespeare Attack On Sydney Harbour
Attack on Sydney Harbour The threat of a Japanese invasion was thought to be imminent for Australia
after the fall of Singapore. Darwin had been crippled by a series of Japanese air raids. In May 1942,
Japanese Midget submarines were spotted in Sydney Harbour, posing a direct threat of attack or
invasion. The presence of Japanese submarines in Sydney Harbour caused alarm in the residents of
Sydney and the Australian defence forces. Again, Australia was unprepared to defend against Japanese
incursions. When did it happen 31 May 1 June 1942 What happened there On the night three Japanese
midget submarines attacked Sydney Harbour. They were launched from a group of five larger
submarines waiting off the Heads. All three midget submarines were lost, with two of them destroyed

The Great Gatsby Nick Carraway Narrator
Some would argue the most vital character of the story is the protagonist, however many more would
say it is the narrator. The narrator describes what his happening in the story, and we see every moment
through their eyes. But alas, not all narrators can be trusted. Especially in a time like when The Great
Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, was written. The narrator for this book is Nick Carraway, who grew up
with his well off family in Chicago and then went to Yale. Throughout the book, he reveals attributes
about him that make him seem like a reliable narrator, however he may very not be.
With the first few paragraphs of the novel, Fitzgerald starts to build a narrator that readers feel they
can really trust. For example, Nick begins the book quoting the advice he received from his father
remember that all the people in this world haven t had all the advantages that you ve had (Fitzgerald
1). Then he goes on to state that he usually tries to reserve his judgements. One after another, he
stresses that he is not judgemental. Nick also has a secondary role, which means that he is the one
observing most situations rather than taking part in them. Fitzgerald makes him ... Show more content

reason chooses to value Gatsby above all of them. On page 44 he says to Gatsby They re a rotten
crowd...you re worth the whole damn bunch put together . It s hard to notice the favoritism he makes
with the amount of unreadable characters, but it does over romanticize the root of the story. If the

Prior to the formation of the second Triumvirate, Julia Caesar had been brutally assassinated, which
plunged Rome into another Civil War. The second triumvirate was formed when the Lex titia was
passed in 43BC, making the position of Anthony, Lepidus and Octavian the highest constitutional
office in the Roman state. As Scullard stated, In place of the dictator Caesar, there were now three
dictators. The second Triumvirate was created to strengthen political control and used their power to
legally hunt down those who had conspired to kill Caesar. This resulted in Civil War between the
Second Triumvirate and Brutus and Cassius at the Battle of Phlipii 42, which undermined the
authority of the Senate as most leaders died in battle. Eventually,

Relationships In Dante s Inferno And Gunther
Throughout this semester all of the assigned texts have relationships between characters. There was
female female, male female, and male male relationships. Each of these categories drive the plot with
the use of relationships and bonds typically found between the characters. Today let us focus on male
male groupings and how their relationships were written and interpreted. Since there are many
different pairs to choose from I will be focusing on Dante and Virgil,Siegfried and Gunther, as well as
Roland and Charlemagne. Each of these relationships have similarities and differences that highlight
and expand upon the character s traits. To start off with in The Divine Comedy, Dante and Virgil s
relationship can be interpreted as Guide and pupil, pseudo familial, or even of a tyrant. The
relationship demonstrated from the first page describes

be defined as an unexpected, involuntary loss of balance by which a person comes to rest at lower or

Improving service quality to meet customers standards is an ongoing part of doing business. In this
way, customers drive the market and the organization. At the same time that organizations act to
attract and satisfy customers, the customers themselves exercise ultimate influence. Their satisfaction
depends on both their expectations and their treatment. Through their choices, customers decide which
organizations survive and thrive, determine what goods and services are available, and shape how they
are provided. In addition to using their purchasing power, informed consumers can shape the
marketplace by communicating their preferences and standards to organizations that are poised to
listen and respond.

For both service providers and consumers, making customer satisfaction a priority involves a
fundamental shift in thinking, organizing and acting. The customer satisfaction framework proposed in
this paper explores the potential of a customer satisfaction orientation as a means for improving the
goods and services, including those provided by the public sector, available to residents of tough
neighborhoods. This paper describes the ideas and research underlying the framework and potential

Wandilla Terrane Formation
INTRODUCTION
The New England Fold Belt (NEFB) of eastern Australia is composed of variably deformed terranes,
going in age from Early Palaeozoic to Late Triassic. These different terranes are for the most part
understood to reflect an alternate tectonic component, or different orogenic events. However, is mostly
believed to have developed within an extensively convergent plate margin setting (Day et al., 1978,

sovereignty over her husband as over her lover, and master him; he must not be above her (286). This
answer is perfectly inline with The Wife of Baths views, she always wants to be more powerful than
her husband. When the old lady says he must marry her, he protests but soon she offers him two
choices, he can have her be old and ugly till she dies, but loyal, or she can be young and pretty and
take chance that she might not remain faithful (291). He gives his answer to be that she may choose,

An Evolutionary Ethical Theory of Social Risks and...
An Evolutionary Ethical Theory of Social Risks and Opportunities
ABSTRACT: Social standards guide us in what to do and what to refrain from doing. But can social
moral or legal standards be trusted? This paper presents an evolutionary ethical theory that generates
trustworthy ethical norms. Each norm is assigned a demonstrable risk, called an ethical risk, that
depends on both human behavior and danger to the survival of society. The assigned risk is minimal if
and only if everybody obeys the norm. The higher the risk assigned to a norm, the higher the norm s
rank (an empirical quantity depending on the evolutionary status of society). An ordered finite set of
ethical risks and ethical norms allows the settlement of ethical ... Show more content on

Hence in the western world tendencies to violence are rising, corruption [iwd, p.8] is on the increase.
And in Germany, for example, a third of all marriages break up, the birth rate is low, the abortion rate
is high and every third household consists of a single person [Handelsblatt]. Is the West, as East Asian
critics smugly say, a group of newly decaying countries [Wickert, p.19]?
If this reproach is right, the decay of a specific society should be avoided by appropriate behaviour
patterns. Some of them may be identified already by a thought experiment: If violence, theft or
deception are the rule, people and their society go to ruin; the situation is stabilised when everyone
helps each other, for then violence or deception are no longer means of survival. Ethics as a theory of
rightful dealings involves empirical research on behaviourally conditioned ethical risks, which may
depend on the technological level of a society. Each of these ethical risks jeopardizes the survival both
of individual citizens and their society as a whole. An ethical risk is a quantity with a certain
magnitude; with each ethical risk goes an ethical norm which is the condition for the minimisation of
that particular risk. Unfortunately risks are seldom independent from one another. So only the
simultaneous observance of various ethical norms minimises all essential collective and individual
survival risks. If only a single ethical

The Crash Of The World Trade Center
Tuesday, September 11th, 2001 began as a normal, late summer day in New York City, New York. It
started as a beautiful morning, with its sky cloudless and bright with the shining sun. Despite the
seemingly peaceful morning, a sequence of catastrophic events occurred and caused the day to take a
turn for the worst. Anything that made the day appear normal drastically changed.
On the morning of the September 11th attacks, or the attacks of 9/11, four passenger airplanes were
hijacked by terrorists. Two airplanes collided into the North and South towers of the World Trade
Center in New York, a third airplane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a fourth
airplane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. These plane collisions ... Show more content on

and hundreds inside the building. After the second tower was smashed into, it was clear that America
was under attack.
Now, both the Twin Towers were engulfed in flames. Numerous people were trapped inside the
towers, since they were on the floors above the impact zone. Many people even leaped to their deaths,
believing it would be better than to die the haunting, horrific death from flames, and/or smoke
inhalation. Even with both 110 story buildings ablaze, the tragedy was far from finished.
Although the South Tower was the second to be struck, it was the first to fall. Less than one hour after
the airplane smashed into it, the entire building collapsed. 9:59 am The South Tower of the World
Trade Center collapses (History.com Staff). As soon as the building crumpled to the ground, thick
clouds of dust and smoke filled the surroundings. Then, just under a half hour later, the North Tower
fell in the same manner as the South Tower. 10:28 am The World Trade Center s North Tower
collapses, 102 minutes after being struck by Flight 11 (History.com Staff). In less than two hours, the
Twin Towers of The World Trade Center that had once scraped the sky, had been diminished to ashes
and remains.

Using Virtual Reconstruction Methods And The Technologies
Abstract In my art history class, we studied Rome Reborn, a 3D digital model of illustrating the urban
development of ancient Rome. I thought it could be tied nicely into our understanding new media,
more specifically how the use of virtual reconstruction methods and the technologies are cultural and
historical customs. A virtual reconstruction, as a simulation, could be seen as accurately imitating the
past and it may also be comprehended as a model constituting a hyperreality. These two perspectives
are regarded as opposite ends of a spectrum in which the comprehension of a simulation sways due to
the embedded conventions of realism. While not arguing a fixed position, this paper argues that above
all a simulation should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rome Reborn (RR) s objective is to create scientific 3D digital models that illustrate the development
of the city of Rome from the first settlement in the late Bronze Ages to the dramatic depopulation of
the city in the early middle Ages ca. 552 AD (Frischer, 2) However, the project team started modeling
at the moment of 320 AD because at that time Rome is considered to be at the height of its urban
development. Since 2007, the project team of RR has been releasing and distributing images and
videos of the virtual reconstruction on the web for public viewing. After all, a goal of archaeology is
to present their interpretations of the ancient remains. According to Frischer, the videos present the
current stage of the virtual reconstruction of ancient Rome s urban development in 320 AD, even
including animations as casual as civilians strolling through buildings to something as exciting as
gladiators fighting at the Coliseum. Every time a new walk through is released, it results in numerous
and mainly encouraging, comments from the public; This is how beautiful Rome once looked!
(Vimeo) and Just amazing!! Rome looked incredible and beautiful!! (Vimeo) Based on such feedback,
people are mostly concerned with the correctness and accuracy of the representational qualities of the
city. However, ancient Rome does not exist anymore and

Isolation In Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door
Sukarno, first president of Indonesia, in office from 1945 to 1967, conveys, The worst cruelty that can
be inflicted on a human being is isolation . In other words, Sukarno believes that seclusion is the
greatest punishment an individual can receive. Often, people are affected by isolation on the mental
and emotional levels. Individuals begin to perceive situations differently and are influenced to make
shameful choices. For example, in Sinclair Ross s short story, The Painted Door, the main character,
Ann, lives her life in isolation from most of society. Ann is a young and caring woman living on a
farm with her husband, John. They are facing troubles in their marriage, since their ideals of a
fulfilling life differ from one another. Her husband is set to travel seventeen miles to assist his aging
father on the farm. Ann is against John s voyage because the storm brewing risks his safety and would
leave her alone to care for the animals. However, John is able to convince her by inviting a friend to
come over for dinner and promising her that he will return at supper to join them; the circumstance
fuels a night of lonesome emotions that propels her to commit a remorseful decision. One might argue
that the author uses the narrative archetype of The Fallen Woman, irony, and symbolism, to suggest,
that isolation leads an individual to question her values and commit regrettable decisions.
John prepares to leave on a journey to his father s house. Before he departs, John

Birth Of Tragedy Patriarchy
It is easy to break the world into binaries. As a culture, Western society has made a point to embrace
binaries and nowhere is this clearer than the binary that is observed with gender. In the most simplistic
way, Western society widely accepts that there are only two genders, male and female. This dichotomy
creates a system of imbalance, giving one gender, male, power over the other. This binary starts an
eternal struggle between the two, with the patriarchy defining what any person is allowed to be.
However, like all binaries, this is an over simplification of a society, and like any simplification, it
breeds room for interpretation. In A History of the World in 10 ½ Chapters, there are many examples
of the Noah narrative. This narrative is twisted by Barnes, with some chapters featuring a woman as
Noah, a role traditionally held by men. By changing the gender, the role is queered, allowing the
audience to examine the influence of the patriarchy on characters who don t inherently belong to the
privileged group. The two female Noahs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Birth of Tragedy, Friedrich Nietzsche writes that in the world there exists a huge contrast. (1)
These contrasts create strict binaries, one of which is the Apollonian, the masculine, and the
Dionysian, the feminine. This dichotomy is in open conflict with each other and simultaneously
provoking each other. This constant provocation within the gender binary allows for hostility and the
evolution of a power dynamic, with one side, the masculine, taking power and forming a patriarchal
society. Within this world of contrasting binaries, Kath and Amanda are stuck within the dichotomy of
masculine and feminine. Though both characters are women, only one is defined by feminine
attributes while the other shows more masculine qualities. However, by them both being women, they
are both oppressed by the

Scapegoats In The City Of Omelas
A scapegoat can be anything, a person, an object, or even a group of people. The idea of scapegoating
has been prevalent in history for a very long time an example being Germany with the Nazis and using
the Jews as their scapegoat for blaming the problems of society on. Scapegoats show a lot about a
community and reveal a lot about how willing a group of people is to deal with there issues like in the
short story the city of Omelas, this is also apparent in the lottery and the article Muslims: The Modern

Final Project Lady Macbeth
Macbeth Final Project Living in a world where even nature is at war with itself is challenging, and
only the bravest, good hearted people will emerge triumphant. The play Macbeth is a tragedy written
by William Shakespeare and takes place in eleventh century Scotland. Featuring a plot full of twists
and turns engages readers throughout the play. Even when the main character, Macbeth, is enticed to
commit a treacherous deed which causes a chain of murders and deceptions eventually leading to
Macbeth s unsightly demise, suspense is not lost. It is a masterpiece giving insight into human nature
and temptation, proving that only the characters who remain true to themselves will escape unscathed
from this backward place; because, in a world where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After receiving a prophecy from the witches the he will be king, Macbeth is excited to share the news
with his beloved wife. Both of them, alone, started plotting King Duncan s murder. Lady Macbeth
seems better prepared to wear this mask, and hide her true intents than Macbeth does. Since Macbeth
is seemingly incapable of facing Duncan without their plan written across his face, Lady Macbeth
encourages him to Look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t (I, v, 56). It is almost as if
Shakespeare wanted Macbeth to be portrayed as an actor, having to put on this mask, and deliver a
convincing performance of trust and loyalty. This is evident because even though Macbeth openly
expresses his distaste in Duncan s murder when he tells Lady Macbeth We will proceed no further in
this business (I, vii, 32) he still ends up killing Duncan. Wearing this mask has taken its toll on
Macbeth. His mind and body were opposed to the deed; which is shown to the readers when Macbeth
sees a floating dagger. Perhaps hinting that his sanity is not intact. However, after it is done, Macbeth
changes and starts molding himself to fit the mask he wears, accepting murder, and moving forward
with his life. Masking intentions does not have to be for evil means. Malcolm masks himself in order
to test Macduff, and by doing this he gains a friend and ally, rather than a crown and subjects. So
while masking one s intentions can yield bountiful rewards, it can also pull them towards the path of
evil, for there is no yellow brick road to get lost on in this world of

Plot The Estimated Actual Fracture Gradient Curve
Plot the estimated actual fracture gradient curve and the designed fracture gradient curve, which is the
estimated actual fracture gradient, less allowance for well control, surge, or ECD. Plot offset mud
weight and LOT (or Formation Integrity Test) data to provide a check of the pore pressure predictions.
Start from the bottom on the mud weight curve (Point A); draw vertical line up to the designed
fracture gradient curve (Point B). Point B is the initial estimated intermediate casing setting depth. The
interval between Point A and Point B is the initial estimated production casing or liner interval. Move
cross to Point C from Point B at the same depth to identify the mud weight required for the depth.
Move up to Point D (must stay under the designed fracture gradient curve) to determine the surface (or
intermediate casing in some offshore areas term) casing setting depth. Move cross to Point E from
Point D at the same depth to identify the mud weight required for that depth. In the case shown in the
figure, there would be no requirement for casing above this depth. However, a conductor casing (or
surface casing in some offshore areas term) is required to prevent wash out of shallow formation and
to provide support for subsequent wellhead and to enable diverters to be installed. Certain factors
apart from the pore pressure and fracture gradient are also involved in the casing depth selection
process and they are: Underground supply drinking water zones

  • 2. Compromise Of Reconstruction Though there were many political, economic, and social reforms introduced during the period of reconstruction after the Civil War, only some lasted for a period of time. The Compromise of 1877 disputed in the presidential election in 1876. Not only did this compromise keep people from selecting a president, it also brought the changes in political, social, and economic climates in the South. As a result of the Compromise of 1877 it effectively marked the end of reconstruction. During the time of reconstruction, the 13th amendment abolished slavery. It was one of the influential amendments passed in the constitution. It officially abolished and prohibited slavery and forced an ending to slavery all over the South. The Southern states that ... • 3. Family Incarceration In The Family The relationship between family members incarceration, other than grandmothers, and criminality in a male youth resulted in a greater probability of a boy s arrest (Nichols Loper, 2012). The negative effects of incarceration extend beyond the influence of a household member s incarceration on development can be understood best from a developmental bio ecological model and influenced by proximal interactions within immediate circumstances such as the home, which originally was referred to as the microsystem (Nichols Loper, 2012). The growth is not restricted to the mother child relationship and can be influenced by any ongoing relationships within the youth s direct situation, including any adult living within the home (Nichols Loper, 2012). Although, imprisonment can influence the child s exosystem, which includes the larger social context such as the family s poverty, stress, social support and caregiver characteristics (Nichols Loper, 2012). Extended kin such as grandmothers, a higher levels of perceived support were associated with higher teacher bonding and stronger work orientation in both black and white youths (Nichols Loper, 2012). Children whose parents are incarcerated constitute a growing population within the communities. An estimated two million children that have a parent who is currently incarcerated and that number does not include children whose parents have been previously incarcerated and released or those whose parents are under some ... • 4. Oedipus Moral Dilemmas Moral Dilemmas Portrayed in World Literature For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so (Shakespeare 688). For centuries, authors, poets and philosophers have used their writings to convey to their readers a code of conduct for life regardless of their religion, race, gender and cultural background. Literature is full of epic vices that are either from a particular era, religion or a setting which makes them specific and relatable only for specific populations. Every religion has its own checklist of sin and virtue. However, the clear distinction between right and wrong is boundless and timeless in every era, religion or culture. The concept of morality is portrayed in ancient and medieval literature and the moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, one of the major moral lessons conveyed by this play is that relating to hubris, meaning excessive pride. His pride was based on two things; his wisdom and his kingship. He believed he knew what a common man did not since he was the one to solve the riddle of the Sphinx. His excessive pride and blind arrogance can especially be witnessed where he gets furious over the blind prophet Tiresias who personifies truth in the play. When Tiresias indirectly calls Oedipus a desperate fool to be living a life of sin and ignorance, Oedipus explodes with rage and ridicules the prophet for his blindness and replies boastfully that When the Sphinx who barked black songs was hounding us why didn t you speak up and free the city? Her riddle wasn t the sort just anyone who happened by could solve; prophetic skill was needed... I used my wits to solve the answer. I solved it (719). He was so blinded by his intellect and power that he tried to ignore the truth by blaming others to be envious of his wealth and power. According to him Wealth and a king s power, the skill that wins every time how much envy, what malice they provoke! (719). His pride, arrogance and ignorance did not let him comprehend the warning behind Tiresias words but in the end when he discovered the ugly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is an American retail and free services corporation that aims at providing fun to the citizens of America at large. It is one of the best service providers when it comes to hiking, camping, sporting and other traveling equipment. The U.S economy is growing rapidly and therefore it has affect any business organization of a firm. The current economic state affects the retail services of REI in the following ways. The U.S. Economy has truly possessed the capacity to mitigate the effect of downturns in local retail buyer spending. This is because of substantial exchange with outside countries. The consequence of this is retailers are encountering noteworthy decreases in deals because of individuals taking care of on their outgoings and furrowing into their properties or somewhere else, consequently the economy withstands a lot of challenges while trying to maintain its position (Mook, Quarter, Armstrong, Whitman, 2015). Therefore, customers in the US have reduced the rate at which they purchase or search for REI services since they are a bit expensive. It is obvious that the company will have to cope with some changes. (Reis et al, 2016) The global typically has some effects on the whole marketing and retailing strategy of REI, in the same way as other US firms, are growing their operations into abroad markets. He began his life s journey in a small town and went through suffering loss of family, Nazi s invasion, and the steps to become a great pope and eventually saint. St. John Paul II was one of the most influential people of the 20th and early 21st century because of the people who influenced him leading him to become pope and modernized the Catholic church. John Paul II s recovery seems almost impossible for him being older and how dangerously close the shots were to his heart, but what really made people notice how great of man he was what he did a few years after the shooting. On December 28, 1983, Pope John Paul II traveled to the turkish prison where Mehmet Ali Ağca, his assassin was being held. He talked with Mehmet for a few hours and finally told Mehmet the he forgave him. This touched Mehmet so much that when the pope died, April 2, 2005, he came to his grave and place flowers on it. • 9. Beethoven and the Classical and Romantic Periods Essay Out of all of Beethoven s one hundred and ten works, he wrote thirty two piano sonatas. Of those thirty two piano sonatas, the thirty first piano sonata was one of the most important and was composed in the year 1821towards the end of Beethoven s life. It is one of Ludwig van Beethoven s final sonatas for the piano, given the full name: Piano Sonata No. 31 in A flat major, op. 110. I am writing about a video performance found on YouTube by Richard Goode in 1993. The performance piece is a sonata which is defined by Kerman as a chamber music piece in several movements (Kerman, 427) The thirty first sonata came to be in an interesting way. Moritz Schlesinger, in the summer of 1819, had made a request to Ludwig van Beethoven. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second movement launches itself at 6:48 in the video. Like the end of the first movement, the second movement is loud. It is sudden and very, very noticeable. The second movement is also marked allegro because of the quick, lively tempo that it has. Anyone should be able to easily tell when the first movement transitions into the second movement. The third movement begins at 8:55 within the video. The third movement is an orderly part of the piece in which two slow sections of arioso and two fast fugues alternate with one another. This movement begins with an arioso, and you can tell because the beginning of it is quite slow especially when compared to the fast pace ending of the second movement. This sonata is based on two motifs, both of which you can find within the first movement. According to author Charles Rosen, these two motifs are ascending or descending parallel fourths, and rising or falling sixths in scale motion (Rosen, 235). The most noticeable of these motifs in the sonata are in the recapitulation of the first movement and in the opening of the second movement which is expressed with a six note falling scale motif. The ascending or descending parallel fourth motifs are present in the main themes of the first movement and the fugue and in the popular theme of the scherzo. The motifs of the rising sixths can be found in the first movement. The descending motifs which are similar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Recruiting Efforts In Law Enforcement In numerous cities across the United States, a crisis is brewing in understaffed law enforcement departments, as the administration s battle for the limited few individuals qualified and capable of performing the required duties to fill their ranks. The improving economy, the current attitude in society referencing police officers, a focus on negative media coverage, as well as non competitive compensation have all been attributed to the diminished interest in careers in law enforcement (Ali, 2017). The city of Houston Texas is just one of the cities scrambling to find officers, with nearly two thousand positions for law enforcement officers available (CNBC, 2018). The increase in available jobs within the United States has created a wonderful opportunity for many Americans, consequently, this increase has had a negative effect on the field of law enforcement. This is one of the issues the governing officials controlling the budgets of law enforcement agencies need to be aware of. In the interest of public safety it is important to keep experienced, well trained, educated officers on the force. Additionally, the media, as well as some citizens, need to stop falsifying news stories, dramatizing minor issues, moreover, giving law enforcement officers a bad reputation within our country. A recent example of dramatization of a traffic stop was posted on social media alleging racial discrimination and threats were made by an officer to a black female (Burkett, 2018). Hence, service quality should be seen as an on going process (Pallet et al, 2003) and the above QFD model helps incorporate guests view and take into account the heterogeneity and complexity of the hospitality experience which was not evident in the previously built models. At the operations management (OM) level, an output based model of seven key result areas (KRAs) for the management of the service delivery system can be used as the analytical framework, derived from Lockwood and Jones (1990) cited in Slack et al (2007). The managed KRAs are assets, employees, capacity (or customers), productivity, service, income (or control), and quality. Within each area of this model there are a range of alternative operational policies and procedures that might be adopted to reflect the type of hospitality business, its size, and its technology. For instance, yield management is an approach to managing capacity in hotels, especially large, chain properties (Jarvis et al., 1998); quality control is applied largely in quick service restaurants, whereas total quality management (TQM) has been applied to a few hotels, such as Ritz Carlton. Quality is not an absolute term. A product can be of high or low standard, yet still be of quality. For e.g. a small barely furnished guest room, with shared bathroom facilities is a quality product if it is perceived by the customers as fulfilling their needs for clean and comfortable overnight accommodation. • 12. Essay on Breastfeed No Matter Where You Are Breastfeeding is such a natural process. It is one of the best gifts a mother can give her child. Breastfeeding is such a great gift that is just keeps on giving all throughout a child s life. Breast milk is a good source of protein and high in calories. The breast milk boosts the immune system, allows the child to grow big and strong, and even makes them smarter. Despite all of these positive aspects of breastfeeding, when people see a mother in public breastfeeding her child, they become a little disgusted. It is unsanitary and should never be a location to eat. Breastfeeding has been around for centuries and is legal, so why stop it now? Breastfeeding in public is a civil right and should be treated like one. There is a law in forty five states that protects mothers and allows them to breastfeed in any location they are allowed to be in (Breastfeeding Laws). However, these laws do not protect them from discrimination from the public. Women are being denied entry into places because of being indecent while breastfeeding in public. There have been reports of women holding nurse ins to promote their laws for breastfeeding in public (Grooms). Mothers who are breastfeeding that are being harassed by companies of a public place and are told to cover up or relocate are allowed to sue according to other laws (Solomon). Any mother does not want to have to sue anyone for the right to bond with her child while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding allows for mothers and their babies to bond. Whether a mother and her child are bonding in the privacy of their own home, or in public, it should be allowed no matter where they go. Breastfeeding brings happiness to both the mother and her child. Why should a mother have to lose the opportunity of bonding with her child in a public place just because someone gets offended? Just about eight short years I ago I was asked if I was ready for the experience of a lifetime, by my parents. I said yes. It was only the summer before fifth grade that I went on a journey which was attending overnight camp at Camp Ramah in the Poconos. Before I arrived, I was happy as can be. But, when I arrived at the most meaningful place in the world, 2618 Upper Woods Road, Lakewood PA I constantly balled my eyes out. I was a mess because I was deeply homesick. It was a new environment. Throughout the experience of my initial summer I continued to be deeply homesick, but somehow with the friends I had made and the incredible counselors I had enjoyed the summer. Surprisingly, out of the four weeks of being a wreck I ended up loving Ramah, and made the choice to continue to be a camper the following summer which was the best choice I ever made. Each summer the age group has to learn and perform a dance on a Friday night. On the final Friday night my age group performed all of our dances that we learn over the pass summers. He used that gun to shoot himself in the head, thus killing himself. Winston had swords and guns on the wall. They are in a crisscrossed pattern but one of the guns is missing. The reason as to why it is missing is because the missing gun is the gun that he is grasping in his hand. Some might believe somebody stole the gun, shot him, and run, but it is the exact same type of gun Winston is holding, so a hit and run cannot be a factor. The gun is in his right hand and the right side of his head is bloody. They indeed match up. If he were to hold the gun up to his head with it in his right hand, it would be on the right side ... My personal experience with test anxiety leads to physiological symptoms such as nervous jitter, accelerated heart beats and light headedness, all of which impacts my test taking skills and influence my decision making ability. This is a problem because although I am prepared with the knowledge for an exam, it still affects my judgement when writing my answers and thus causes an impact on my grades. A study by Rebecca Stephens (1992), Imagery: A Treatment for Nursing Student Anxiety , explained imagery methods that were proven effective among nursing students experiencing similar anxiety. Nursing students are subjected to midterms and exams as are students in other programs, and although the material is different it is the fear before writing a test that causes the anxiety. Less than a year prior, she was diagnosed with a terminal glioblastoma brain cancer, giving her only months left to live. She moved from her home in California to Oregon, because Oregon has a law permitting physicians to supply patients with the means to take their own life. Right before her death she released a statement saying: Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness, this terrible brain cancer has taken so much from me...but would have taken so much more (Egan). The circumstances of her death has caused a lot of controversy. Many believe that Maynard s choice has demeaned human the value of human life; others have supported her decisions to end her life on her own terms. The reality of Maynard s situation is that, in the end stages of her disease, she would be afflicted with violent seizures and hallucinations (Glioblastoma). She would have eventually lose the ability to control basic bodily functions. Was she wrong to choose to end her life before her disease brought unbearable suffering? In a friendly conversation, a few weeks ago she mentioned having Lyme disease. I grew up in a rural part of Indiana so my childhood consisted of playing outside almost everyday. My front yard is full of trees, and because I live in a very forested area right across from a corn field, these trees often have ticks. My parents always warned us to be cautious of ticks by using insect repellant and making sure we were wearing long clothing if we were going to be close to the trees. Our dogs would often get a tick here or there that my parents would have to pull off, but only once or twice do I remember one of my siblings or cousins getting a tick on them. My parents and grandparents always warned us about Lyme disease, because it was such a prevalent topic in Indiana. As a child, it seemed as if my parents were overreacting, which is why it was so interesting to see that Dana had gotten Lyme disease. According to the CDC, Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. D Souza suggests that Obama was chosen as an analgesic to that blame and came to office as a void image and an unexamined amount, whose inclinations and most profound standards that s covered outrage have been kept under tight restraints by the possibility of reelection. By the completion of this placement, the adoption of prevention strategies proved beneficial to Tom s care plan. The adoption of prevention strategies proved beneficial to Tom and the team. Falls are a serious health concern for people and an important issue for nurses. Many factors contribute to the causes of falls, apart from cognitive impairment. The consequences of patient falls are becoming a serious issue for patients and society. I discovered preventive strategies could be used as a theory to minimise falls in older people using different literature reviews. A fall however can be defined as an unexpected, involuntary loss of balance by which a person comes to rest at lower or ground level (Commodove, 1995). The older population is growing in number, and falling is common in this group up to one third of people over the age of 65 falls each year, with half reporting multiple falling episodes (Bludau and Lipsitz, 1997). Savage and Matheisk Kraft, (2001) states that fall related injury is the sixth highest cause of in older people. Half of those ages over 75 years who fracture their hip as a result of a fall die within one year (Rawskey, 1998), and those who survive rarely regain complete mobility (Marotolli et al 1992). Improving service quality to meet customers standards is an ongoing part of doing business. In this way, customers drive the market and the organization. At the same time that organizations act to attract and satisfy customers, the customers themselves exercise ultimate influence. Their satisfaction depends on both their expectations and their treatment. Through their choices, customers decide which organizations survive and thrive, determine what goods and services are available, and shape how they are provided. In addition to using their purchasing power, informed consumers can shape the marketplace by communicating their preferences and standards to organizations that are poised to listen and respond. Contents of This Paper For both service providers and consumers, making customer satisfaction a priority involves a fundamental shift in thinking, organizing and acting. The customer satisfaction framework proposed in this paper explores the potential of a customer satisfaction orientation as a means for improving the goods and services, including those provided by the public sector, available to residents of tough neighborhoods. This paper describes the ideas and research underlying the framework and potential strategies for moving from concepts to action. 7 Customer Satisfaction: Improving Quality and

These different terranes are for the most part understood to reflect an alternate tectonic component, or different orogenic events. However, is mostly believed to have developed within an extensively convergent plate margin setting (Day et al., 1978, 1983; Henderson, 1980; Fergusson et al. 1988). An Evolutionary Ethical Theory of Social Risks and Opportunities ABSTRACT: Social standards guide us in what to do and what to refrain from doing. But can social moral or legal standards be trusted? This paper presents an evolutionary ethical theory that generates trustworthy ethical norms. Each norm is assigned a demonstrable risk, called an ethical risk, that depends on both human behavior and danger to the survival of society. The assigned risk is minimal if and only if everybody obeys the norm. The higher the risk assigned to a norm, the higher the norm s rank (an empirical quantity depending on the evolutionary status of society). Hence in the western world tendencies to violence are rising, corruption [iwd, p.8] is on the increase. And in Germany, for example, a third of all marriages break up, the birth rate is low, the abortion rate is high and every third household consists of a single person [Handelsblatt]. Is the West, as East Asian critics smugly say, a group of newly decaying countries [Wickert, p.19]? If this reproach is right, the decay of a specific society should be avoided by appropriate behaviour patterns. Some of them may be identified already by a thought experiment: If violence, theft or deception are the rule, people and their society go to ruin; the situation is stabilised when everyone helps each other, for then violence or deception are no longer means of survival. Ethics as a theory of rightful dealings involves empirical research on behaviourally conditioned ethical risks, which may depend on the technological level of a society. Each of these ethical risks jeopardizes the survival both of individual citizens and their society as a whole. An ethical risk is a quantity with a certain magnitude; with each ethical risk goes an ethical norm which is the condition for the minimisation of that particular risk. Unfortunately risks are seldom independent from one another. So only the simultaneous observance of various ethical norms minimises all essential collective and individual survival risks. Isolation In Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door Sukarno, first president of Indonesia, in office from 1945 to 1967, conveys, The worst cruelty that can be inflicted on a human being is isolation . In other words, Sukarno believes that seclusion is the greatest punishment an individual can receive. Often, people are affected by isolation on the mental and emotional levels. Individuals begin to perceive situations differently and are influenced to make shameful choices. For example, in Sinclair Ross s short story, The Painted Door, the main character, Ann, lives her life in isolation from most of society. Ann is a young and caring woman living on a farm with her husband, John. They are facing troubles in their marriage, since their ideals of a fulfilling life differ from one another. Her husband is set to travel seventeen miles to assist his aging father on the farm. Ann is against John s voyage because the storm brewing risks his safety and would leave her alone to care for the animals. However, John is able to convince her by inviting a friend to come over for dinner and promising her that he will return at supper to join them; the circumstance fuels a night of lonesome emotions that propels her to commit a remorseful decision. One might argue that the author uses the narrative archetype of The Fallen Woman, irony, and symbolism, to suggest, that isolation leads an individual to question her values and commit regrettable decisions. • 44. Birth Of Tragedy Patriarchy It is easy to break the world into binaries. As a culture, Western society has made a point to embrace binaries and nowhere is this clearer than the binary that is observed with gender. In the most simplistic way, Western society widely accepts that there are only two genders, male and female. This dichotomy creates a system of imbalance, giving one gender, male, power over the other. This binary starts an eternal struggle between the two, with the patriarchy defining what any person is allowed to be. However, like all binaries, this is an over simplification of a society, and like any simplification, it breeds room for interpretation. In A History of the World in 10 ½ Chapters, there are many examples of the Noah narrative. This narrative is twisted by Barnes, with some chapters featuring a woman as Noah, a role traditionally held by men. By changing the gender, the role is queered, allowing the audience to examine the influence of the patriarchy on characters who don t inherently belong to the privileged group. The two female Noahs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Birth of Tragedy, Friedrich Nietzsche writes that in the world there exists a huge contrast. This constant provocation within the gender binary allows for hostility and the evolution of a power dynamic, with one side, the masculine, taking power and forming a patriarchal society. Within this world of contrasting binaries, Kath and Amanda are stuck within the dichotomy of masculine and feminine. Since Macbeth is seemingly incapable of facing Duncan without their plan written across his face, Lady Macbeth encourages him to Look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t (I, v, 56). It is almost as if Shakespeare wanted Macbeth to be portrayed as an actor, having to put on this mask, and deliver a convincing performance of trust and loyalty. This is evident because even though Macbeth openly expresses his distaste in Duncan s murder when he tells Lady Macbeth We will proceed no further in this business (I, vii, 32) he still ends up killing Duncan. Wearing this mask has taken its toll on Macbeth. His mind and body were opposed to the deed; which is shown to the readers when Macbeth sees a floating dagger.
