Argumentative Essay On Seat Belts
Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in America, how have seat belts saved lives and
lower the deaths in these accidents? The technology in seat belts as well as the laws created to
regularize the use of seat belts have increased the chances of survival for people involved in car
accidents. However how much can the technology of seat belts do , and how do seat belt laws created
by states show an increase in survival rate in these accidents?
Thousands of lives are lost every year due to motor vehicle accidents all across the country, seat belts
are known to have decreased fatalities by large numbers seen in statistics and studies made around the
country. According to the article written by Michigan State Police , Myths ... Show more content on

In the beginning of the creation of seat belts , less than ten percent of vehicle owners actually used
their seat belt ( The Evolution Of Seat Belt Laws... ). After the multitude of fatalities grew , people
began to recognize the importance of vehicle safety later leading to laws created in favor of seat belts.
Seat belt use and safety increased an estimated fifty percent as states began to create laws and strict
penalties ( GHSA ). In 1984 New York became the first state to enact a seat belt use law. By 1996
every state had followed New York with the exception of New Hampshire.( Safety Belts ) As a result ,
the use of seat belts assuredly increased as well as the number of survivors of motor vehicle accidents.
States with primary seat belt laws not only showed a decrease in fatalities, the usage of seat belts rose
to over eighty percent in states where primary seat belt laws were enacted (Motor Vehicle Safety ).
Laws creates for the usage of seat belts have helped vehicle safety in various ways. Due to the creation
of the laws more people see the importance of restraints, mainly the law abiding citizens. Penalties
created improve the usage by punishing those who refuse to wear the restraints showing legitimacy in

Mackenzie King Leadership
Unforgettable actions that will always be remembered in honour of Mackenzie King, which made him
such a great leader. In my opinion William Lyon Mackenzie King showed that he was an effective
leader through his duty of being Canada s 10th Prime Minister for 29 years. King made huge impacts
on many lives and both world wars in being Canada s best Prime Minister. Mackenzie King did many
effective actions throughout his years of being Prime Minister, however three events stood out the
most. King showed that he was an effective leader because he created crown corporations, had a
dream to start the British Commonwealth Air Training Program and created Unemployment Insurance
for people who needed it. Not only did he serve the longest time as Canada s Prime Minister but he
successfully affected many lives.
Firstly, Mackenzie King showed great leadership towards the people because of this dream of starting
the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). Mackenzie King was determined in 1939 to
have a dream which he believed was a sign of the power of the airplane in determining ultimate
victory . All over the country, Canadians decided to mobilized to take part in this event. In order to
take on this event an army of experts would have to be assembled, a development in airfields and
equipment, including airplanes. Between the years 1940 1945 there was 151 schools established and
thousands civilians that were members of the Royal Canadian Air Force, mainly the Women s division
trained and worked for BCATP facilities. By the end of the Second World War, the BCATP had
produced 131,553 aircrew, including pilots, wireless operators, air gunners, and navigators for the Air
Forces of Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. This all Started when Canada s
government realized it was an opportunity for them to make a significant commitment to the Allied
war efforts. The final agreement was made on December 17, 1939 and all countries that were involved
in this dream signed the papers, which listed the percentages of trainees they need to send, the cost
they would need to pay, schedule of training times. This all came to a close in March on the 31st 1945.
King was so confident in this dream he had envisioned that

The Negatives Of Online Education
The Negatives of Online Education Online education is a type of distance learning. The student is
taking courses without attending a school or university. Instead, online students and teachers interact
over the Internet. Online classes can teach students educational responsibility. By forcing them to
access the online portal to participate in reading the textbooks/lectures and doing the assignments.
Technical abilities is also learned with online classes. Students who lack the tech savvy knowledge
can learn how to navigate through the online environment. Being able to access the online portal at
any given time of the day is one other benefit to online education. Though online education may seem
beneficial, there are more negatives than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a lot of poor communication in online classes. There will be students who will never email
the instructors for more details about an assignments, or, there will be older students who don t know
how to email the instructors for more details. If the student doesn t understand an assignment, and
never emails to ask for more details, can result in a poor grade for the lack of knowledge in knowing
what they re doing. There s one final drawback to not having social interactions with instructors;
Students can potentially miss out on building relationships that can result in helpful guidance and
recommendation letters down the road when needed. Students who are prone to procrastination will
have a difficult time adjusting to online classes. Hours of work are necessary to get through all of the
materials, including course lectures, educational videos, assignments, projects, assigned textbook
reading and discussions. For students who are getting an online degree, especially an online master s
degree, require a greater amount of work. The positive of online classes is being able to access the
class in any free time. Most online classes though, require work to be turned in on certain days and
times. Which makes it harder for students to remember when assignments need to be done. The
pleasure of the instructor reading/lecturing the textbook material out loud won t be there. It

George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion And Willy Russell s...
Explore how Change is presented in George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion and Willy Russell s Educating
Rita.
Educating Rita is a modern adaptation of Pygmalion, which is based on a figure in Greek mythology
when a sculptor named Pygmalion carves a woman out of ivory but ends up falling in love with her.
These two books follow the journeys of two women, one in the early 1900s named Eliza and one in
the 1960s named Rita. They both enlist the help of teachers to try and guide them into a higher class of
society, but the teaching styles, and consequences are different in the two plays. There are two angles
of change that I will take. One is how and why Rita and Eliza change throughout the novel and the
changes experienced by the characters.
The teaching style for change in Educating Rita is focused on exam technique. Frank teaches Rita how
to pass her exams, teaching the rules of the game , and so Rita can learn about literature and culture in
order so that she can converse and talk in a higher class. However, this is an extremely hard task, as
Rita wants to learn everything, yet she had an almost non existent education; Frank says you ve barely
had a basic schooling, you ve never passed an exam in your life. This means that Frank has to start
from scratch and give Rita basic schooling like sentence structure and exam technique and so forth.
Frank also has to change Rita s personal and emotional responses to books and literature into
analytical and robotic essays that Frank so

Batman The Unexpected Cultural Revolution Summary
Critique of Batman, The unexpected Cultural Revolution
In the essay Batman, The Unexpected Cultural Revolution Chris Gould sheds light on Batman, and
how the comics are described as dismal yet the show was made to be laughable with a main character
described as gentle. The main point of Gould s essay is that the show has become a pop art utopia (pg.
268) and how it shaped the morals of a young generation. The Batman TV show thus became a
depiction of pop art utopia, where bright colors forever defeated darkness, where creativity forever
defeated logic and Good forever triumphed over Evil. (Gould 1). The author of Batman, the
unexpected Cultural Revolution made the argument that Batman left a lasting impact on society and
he uses valid information to prove his point.
Chris Gould explains how William Dozier introduced Batman, the crime fighting superhero, to TV in
1966. The show was about a man in a suit that fought crime with his teenage sidekick. The show was
aimed at families, it wanted to send a positive message to younger viewers. Gould also notes that the
show analized a number of trends that were occurring during that time such as; the hippie movement,
corruption in politics, the power of technology, and pop art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gould is impassive in his essay, however, the show scorned hippies on two separate occasions. The
first time hippies were scorned when A flower power criminal named Louis the Lilac, played by
Milton Berle, was created to illustrate this point, expressing the belief that hippies could be controlled
and manipulated to serve his own nefarious ends. (Gould 270).Gould uses this to provide evidence for
his claim that writers disliked the young social movements, so it was surprising the show actually
became as popular with pop art. Gould described one episode that made fun of pop art

Project Planning For A Suitable Development Model Essay
2.1.1 PROJECT PLANNING: Project planning consists of the following important activities: 
Effort, cost, resource and project duration estimation.  Risk identification and analysis. An important
task performed during the project planning stage is the selection of a suitable development model. We
are developing E परीक्षा web site which is based on Spiral Model, because it offers a means of making
the development process more visible. Because of the cascade from one phase to another, this model is
known as Spiral Model. It is also known as System Life Cycle. 2.1.1.1 The Spiral Model: Spiral
model is a combination of iterative development process model and sequential linear development
model i.e. waterfall model with very high emphasis on risk analysis. It allows for incremental releases
of the product, or incremental refinement through each iteration around the spiral. The spiral model
has four phases. A software project repeatedly passes through these phases in iterations called Spirals .
1) IDENTIFICATION 2) DESIGN 3) CONSTRUCTOR BUILD 4) EVALUATION AND RISK
ANALYSIS 1) IDENTIFICATION : This phase starts with gathering the business requirements in the
baseline spiral. In the subsequent spirals as the product matures, identification of system requirements,
subsystem requirements and unit requirements are all done in this phase. This also includes
understanding the system requirements by continuous communication between the customer and the

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Analysis
Motives are the most common source of an outcome, leading individuals to every action that occurs.
Every decision made by an individual is influenced by some sort of motive, whether it is
physiological, social, or personal. Ken Kesey presents to the reader the inspiration behind the
characters course of action in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, resulting in the change of
heart from Dr.Spivey and Randle McMurphy. The impact from other individuals often alters the
reasoning for an action. Doctor Spivey originally supported Nurse Ratched s actions, but Mcmurphy
influenced him to make decisions based on the needs and wants of the patients. Mcmurphy inspires
the men to voice their opinion and builds their confidence up, so that they can take on the Nurse.
Nurse Ratched does not agree with the men, so she does everything in her power to eliminate the men
s masculinity in order for her to keep the ward running like she desires. Doctor Spivey is easily
persuaded by other individuals when it comes to choosing a side. In the beginning of the novel, Doctor
Spivey agrees with the Nurse because of his tendency to be easily manipulated and because of the
consequences that may come about if he were to disagree with her plan of action. Doctor Spivey s
masculinity was stripped by Nurse Ratched along with the other patients. Once Mcmurphy is admitted
to the ward the Doctor begins to see how the ward is ran through a different perspective, and he starts
to stand up for the men instead of lurking in the shadows of Nurse Ratched. Doctor Spivey has a
discussion with Mcmurphy about the music; they make a plan to make the patients happy. During the
meeting Doctor Spivey tells the men that the day room will have the music turned up for the chronics
and the acutes can go to another room where there will be no music. Unlike the Nurse, Doctor Spivey
is willing to change the routine up, and accommodate both the needs and wants of all the patients.
This action also presents to the reader that being influenced by others isn t always bad, it just means
that you are listening to others opinions. The turning point in the novel is when the Doctor decides to
go on the fishing trip with the men. The inspiration for this decision

While making observations during field work, Ben and Maureen actually saw an employee take
previously thrown away dog food out of a dumpster and place it in Henry s vehicle. I knew from this
incident, that Smackey Dog Foods, Inc had a major weakness in their internal controls with inventory
and possibly an outright problem with theft. My team was present at the physical inventory count to
help ensure the accuracy of the count and we performed various analytical procedures on the
inventory such as comparing the gross margin percentage, the inventory turnover, and unit costs of
inventory with those of the previous years. We also ensured that all expired/obsolete inventories was
disposed of and not counted as we were aware of an issue that Smackey was having with the handling
of returned inventory. In order to confirm the accounts receivable balances, I decided to use positive
confirmations since this was my first time auditing the company and the collateral for the loan would
be the receivables. The confirmations helped to verify the accuracy and existence of the accounts. I
also calculated the Receivables Turnover Ratio in order to better evaluate the overall success of
collection on accounts. The sample size that I chose was determined by the factors of tolerable
misstatement, inherent risk, control risk, achieved detection risk

I have developed interest in IT and computers from the very beginning of my young age. As long as I
can remember, Information Technology has been a big part of my life. It all started in my early age of
my school where I was taught a basic language of computers and how the computers can be
programmed. After seeing my interest in computers, my father bought me an Intel Celeron based
computer with 256 Megabyte of RAM during my middle school days. Compare to today s fast
operating systems, this computer really tested my patience. After playing around with it, I discovered
myself more into it and tried making it work faster. I had even tried changing some of its files on my
own so that it can work the way I want it. I tried fixing it in a way so that it can help me opening the

The Theory Of Public Health
Introduction
Medical system in the world have defined Health in their own ways since time immemorial. Winslow
(1920) defines public health as The science and art of preventing disease , prolonging life and
promoting physical and mental efficiency through organised community effort for the sanitation of the
environment , the control of communicable infections , the education of the individual in personal
hygiene , the organisation medical and nursing services for the early diagnosis and preventive
treatment of disease .
Risk groups are those who are exposed to risk factors. The term risk factor means an attribute or
exposure that is significantly associated with the development of the disease or a determinant that can
be modified by intervention , thereby reducing the possibility of occurrence of disease or other
specified outcomes . ( Soben Peter , 2009 ).
According to Geoffrey Rose the two approaches of aetiology the individual and the population
approach have their respective roles in prevention. In the first , the individuals who are at high risk are
first identified and then provided them with protection. In contrast , the population strategy focuses on
the determinants of the incidence in the population as a whole. (Rose , 1985)

Stability In Any Family Is Important However, Building
Stability in any family is important however, building and maintaining stability in a blended family is
much harder due to the many variables a blended family faces. We will explore some of these
challenges and the results of them.
Living arrangements
Living arrangements can be one of the most challenging things for a blended/step family. There is the
need for everyone to feel that they have their own space when needed to just escape, while also having
a sense of inclusion for all the family members. The hardest thing here is when children go for
visitation to the other parent s home is to ensure that they have what they need for the visitation and
making sure those items are returned home. This can often lead to implications between ... Show more

None of the data came from the other household. As a blended family, this is something that could
make capturing data tough. There are too many inconsistencies from each households and parenting
styles. (Heintz Martin, V., Entleitner Phleps, C., Langmeyer, A. N, 2015)
Study findings consisted of the difficulty of getting fathers to really participate in a family unit let
alone a stepfather. For this reason alone, it is common for the children to be a bit distance from the
stepfather. Were stepmothers being generally more involved in the day to day happenings. (Heintz
Martin, V., Entleitner Phleps, C., Langmeyer, A. N, 2015) This is something that is very present within
my own blended family. Though my husband and I have custody of all five of our children and we
have lived together for over ten years, my husband is much more distant from my daughter than I am
with his children. His children tend to find me as a go to person when they feel they can t go to either
of their own parents. At the end of the day everyone must do their part to make a family unit function.
Each person must fulfill their role so that all the puzzle pieces fit together.
Single Parent Household The single parent household also provides an instability for the child(ren).

Cystic Fibrosis Analysis
To understand the effects that Cystic Fibrosis has, it is important to discuss CFTR synthesis and
trafficking. Mutations in the CFTR results in protein misfolding, causing a defect in cellular
processing and trafficking that targets the protein for degradation and reduces the quantity of CFTR at
the cell surface [56]. In order for the CFTR to function correctly, then it must be synthesized, folded,
and transported to the apical membrane of the cell without problem. The CFTR passes through quality
control systems to get rid of misfolded proteins that would not function properly or that could become
damaged [16]. It is apparent that only 33% of CFTR folds correctly and is allowed to leave the
endoplasmic reticulum [8]. The nucleus is the site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One system detects defects in the cytosolic parts of the CFTR while the other detects defects within
the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It is apparent that ubiquitylating proteins work with specific
factors in order to detect misfolding. For example, Hsp70 detects mutations in the cytosolic regions of
the CFTR. It is suspected that Hsp70 keeps the CFTR soluble until the E3 ligase CHIP binds with it.
The complex that forms between these two redirects the CFTR to the degradation pathway. Derlin 1 is
involved with detecting defects in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and is involved in the retro
translocation of CFTR from the endoplasmic reticulum so that it can be send to the proteasome for
degradation [20]. If the CFTR protein is folded correctly within the endoplasmic reticulum, then it is
sent to the Golgi apparatus. The coat protein complex II (COPII), which is found within the ER
membrane, helps to maintain the correct CFTR structure and location, conformation, and protein
protein interactions as this occurs. Final processing for the CFTR is carried out within the Golgi, as
the CFTR replaces a mannose enriched side chain with a mature complex oligosaccharide side chain.
After this is completed, the CFTR is moved to the apical membrane where it has a half life of 12 to 24
hours. If a CFTR is functioning poorly within the membrane, then it can be recognized by Hsc70 and

Analyzing Alienated Labor in Regards to Democracy
The strive to maximize profits causes firms to mass produce commodity goods, which forces workers
to dedicate a large portion of their time to their labor. The efficiency of mass production is certainly
questionable, as economists like Keynes predicted that, given the massive technological leaps that
nations such as the United States and Great Britain were already making, the average work week
would be reduced to between fifteen and twenty hours a week by the twenty first century (Graeber,
Bullshit Jobs ). While it appears that the technological advancements Keynes expected came to
fruition, the average work week currently sits around

It is not a large stretch to assume that most of the sweatshop workers employed by Nike have never
worn any of the items that they had a part in producing, which serves to create an effect of resentment,
as those workers view Nike products as a reminder of their servitude and likely nothing more.
Like the product of one s labor, the process of labor itself can also be a source of estrangement for
workers in a capitalistic society. When workers have no influence on the circumstances surrounding
their production, they can be treated as commodities. Those that are working in sweatshops are often
doing so out of necessity, which gives firms control over laborers as they dominate the means of
production and therefore have more leeway in regards to practices such as forcing workers to endure
improper conditions or providing low wages. Firms like Nike can easily establish monopolies in the
market for cheap labor in developing nations like Indonesia, eliminating the competition for wages
along with any possibility of class ascendance. The result of this is the existence of laborers who are
completely disconnected from the undertaking of their work, as it only serves as both a means of
subsidence and a reminder of one s reliance on the bourgeoisie. Naturally, the laborer will feel that the

Biltmore Estate Research Paper
The Biltmore estate, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina near Ashville, is the site
of George Vanderbilt s country retreat. The estate, being the largest private residence in America, is a
testament to Mr. Vanderbilt s wealth and his vision of a luxurious, sophisticated home. The Biltmore
estate served as a home, a profitable business, and a place for entertainment. The Vanderbilt s were a
large family who descended from Jon Aersten van der Bilt, an immigrant from Holland to America in
1650. As well being one of the oldest families in America, the Vanderbilts were also one of the
wealthiest. They obtained their wealth originally through a steamboat company that traveled as far
New York to Central America and Europe. Their second source of fortune came from large
investments in railroads, which were just emerging at the time in 1873. The family was also known for
their generosity and involvement in philanthropy. Their most notable donations were their donations to
the creation of Vanderbilt University, the funding of the Metropolitan Opera, and endowing the

Wilfred Owen asks where are the ...passing bells for these who die as cattle? The author of Anthem for
Doomed Youth leads his reader through his personal struggle and frustration of war. Owen has an
abrasive approach when describing the death all around him and clearly expresses his anger with the
hasty orisons for the dead. He speaks directly of battlefront in the first octet and then includes the
home front in the second half of his sonnet. Owen s purpose is not a commemoration of fallen
soldiers. Rather, he divulges the disgust and disappointment of war. Like McCrae, Wilfred Owen
paints a picture of the multitude of deaths. Back at the home front, ...each slow dusk a drawing down
of blinds. We can construe that the author is not simply talking about preparing for bed in the evening,
but rather lowering the blinds in a room where yet another dead soldier lies, as an indication to the
community and out of respect for the soldier. There is a lack of passing bells for these who die as
cattle....no prayers nor bells; Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs. Owen writes as though he
feels that there is indifference among the death of his fellow soldiers.

Effect Of Substrate Concentration On Enzyme Activity
The Effect of Environmental Conditions on Enzyme Activity
Ikram Hassan
SBI3UW 02
November 13, 2017.
Research Question: What is the effect of substrate concentration (as measured in % concentration) on
the rate of enzyme activity (as calculated by the dividing the measured distance in cm, +/ 0.1 cm,
travelled by a substance in a manometer by the time in seconds, +/ 0.5 seconds)?
Background:
A substrate is a molecule which is acted upon by an enzyme. For a chemical reaction to occur through
enzyme, substrate molecules bind to the active site of an enzyme, which contains residues that
catalyse the reaction of the substrate.
Hypothesis: If the concentration of the substrate is increased, then the rate of enzyme activity will
decrease. This is because as the concentration of the substrate increases, there is an increasing amount
of occupied active sites at any given moment. This will cause a decrease in the rate of enzyme activity
as substrate active site collisions are increasingly slowed down thus bringing down the rate of enzyme
activity.
Variables:
Independent: Substrate Concentration: Throughout the experiment, the concentration of the substrate
used will be increased in order to determine the effect of an increase of substrate concentration on
enzyme activity. The substrate throughout the experiment will be a hydrogen peroxide solution and an
original 30% concentration will be diluted with water into 10% and 5% concentrations in order to
observe the effect of

A New School
Brand new school, brand new records, brand new everything. Said Jeremy the security guard. He s
been a guard for high schools for about twelve years now, and he s seen a lot over the years, and he
was positive he could handle anything after spring break of 2012. He still had claw marks on his hands
from the cats. His guard mate, Nathaniel, grunted in response. Yeah, new kids, new technology, new
pranks. He was apparently not as excited for the school as Jeremy was. It was upsetting to Jeremy; he
had been looking forward to the job for a while. He hated his last job, for the kids there were not
raised the same as the kids here. Its only been a day and he already made friends with a couple of the
Drama students. This was a Fine Arts school, after all. I m going to go walk around a bit, Nathaniel
concluded. He must have known he struck a nerve.
I nodded in mutual agreement before taking a sip of coffee. Behind me, I heard Jeremy open the office
door and close it behind him. Alone in the dark now, I observed Nathaniel s progress with the screen
in front of me. As he strolled down the hall, a white dot popped up around him the security system s
motion detector. At the end of the corridor he disappeared into the stairwell, and I could barely hear
the echoes of his footsteps as he descended. A second later he reappeared on the computer to the left
of the first, the beam of his flashlight blown out on the camera monitor above it in its own white
rectangle. I picked up my

Summary Of The Way Of A Cherokee By Foxxy
The Way of a Cherokee by Foxxy is about her memories and experiences growing up as a young child
with her sister, Sierra, and grandpa. She is a Native American that has lived in a world that is different
from the world her grandpa grew up in. In addition, she learned to love and appreciate nature just like
her grandpa did. I can relate to her relationship with her grandpa because I have created many
memories with my grandpa. My grandpa told me stories about his childhood. In Foxxy s essay she
explores the relationship between identity and cultural history through physical location, family
relationships, and language differences. Foxxy experiences things in her physical location that helps
her recognize her identity and culture. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Foxxy s grandpa helped her learn about the Cherokee people by telling her stories. My grandpa liked
to tell me stories about his childhood when I was a little girl. He told me when he was a boy his family
did not have much money, so he had to get a job as a paper boy to help buy groceries. He explained
how he would throw the paper at the front door from his bicycle. He taught me that I have to work for
the things in life that I want and to not expect a handout. Also, from the essay I learned that Foxxy s
grandpa did not have to go out on the prairie with her because his stories helped her identify with her
culture. For example, Foxxy stated that her grandpa was a cowboy. He was a chief. He was a
Cherokee. Grandpa was a wise man (par. 14). I believe this showed that Foxxy was impacted by her
grandpa because she described him as a very important man. He helped her identify her culture by
telling her stories about the wild prairie deer. My grandpa is a person that I look up to and respect
because he started out with nothing. He taught me values and morals. Also, when Foxxy got stuck in
the bog, her grandpa did not yell or belittle her. Instead her grandpa very gracefully helped her out.
This showed that her grandpa allowed her to explore her identity and culture. I can relate to this
because my grandpa is very kind and patient just like Foxxy s

Analysis Of The Murray Darling Basin Authority s Basin Plan
Introduction
(background information, purpose of the plan(sustainable basin balance),SDL,wentworth group.
SDL: sustainable division limits
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the Murray Darling Basin Authority s Basin Plan (MDBA
Basin Plan) revised in 2012 and the recommendations made by Wentworth Group as well as the
comments made by regional industry and development groups and state governments. The previous
version of this plan (the one released in 2010) has not met the its targets and has been criticized for
overemphasis on meeting environmental targets made the Wentworth Group of Scientists rather than
considering regional social and economic issues. The revised plan focuses more on socio economic
impacts, salinity and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The guide to the Basin plan states that the range of water needed to be returned to the river system is
between 3856 GL and 6983 GL. This is to secure the health of river system. The volume of water
defined in the revised plan is only 2750 GL/y, which is not sufficient to meet the requirements. The
revised plan does not collect sufficient data to adjust the recovery of surface water. This is shown in
the statement on the 2011 basin plan done by Wentworth group that they are unsure about the what the
outcomes of this reduction of 2750 GL/y would be since the revised plan does not provide an
information about it. (page12).
The Wentworth group points put that these groundwater allocations are in aquifer systems that are
considered to be highly connected to surface water. ( statement on the 2011 draft Murray darling basin
plan,page13).Large change in the extraction of groundwater is unreasonable and has negative effects
on the surface water resource since groundwater system is linked closely to surface water. The revised
plan does not take the relationship between groundwater and surface water into consideration and it
assumes that they are two separate systems. This results in an inaccurate increase in SDL of
groundwater resource.
The Wentworth group identifies that there is insufficient information provided on estimating the cost
and feasibility of handling river management infrastructure

The Themes Of Death And Death
Cambridge Hinds
Big Question Paper
The Meaning of Death
The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and
specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time
period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of
death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431 BCE,
and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular themes in
ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels, movies, TV
shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the movie The
Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez.
Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an
organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be for better or
worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a bittersweet occasion
as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the Decameron, and The Book
of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance from the living. However, these
texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively, it means tragic revenge, a feared
end, and reconciliation as well as separation.
In the tragedy Medea, death is central to

Reflection Of Samuel Burt And Mixed Signals In Computer Music
On October 30th, we had our sixth presentation of this course. We are getting close to the end of the
course with two lectures left. The lecturer, this time, was Goucher s computer music professor Samuel
Burt, with Lisa Weiss helping him. According to his bio, among his title as a professor, Samuel Burt is
a composer. He had a Bachelors of Music from the University of Georgia. Then, he received a Master
of Music from Peabody Institute for composition and computer music. He is a member of the High
Zero Foundation and has participated in the High Zero Festival. This foundation is a way of
showcasing experimental and improvised music in Baltimore. He participated and performed in the
Red Room series and the Worlds in Collusion at Artscape. To add to his repertoire, he builds and sells
daxophones, which are wooden friction based instruments. He also creates/designs his own electronic
music software that we had the chance to experience for ourselves in his lecture. Before the lecture,
Burt had been tinkering away at the computer to make sure that everything was perfected beforehand.
He then had us introduce ourselves and we all chatted for a bit. Soon, it was time for the main event.
First, Burt showed us his composition, Mixed Signals. With the help of Lisa Weiss playing her part on
the piano, the computer would take that note, play it back, and delay it. It is time and sound sensitive,
so we were instructed to be as quiet as possible, in order for the computer to not pick up

Comparing Christianity And Hinduism
Rites of passage within are crucial within culture and religion. Rites of passage help individuals
negotiate the transition from one state of being to another and provide an opportunity for the
community to express and celebrate its solidarity. In Christianity and Hinduism, ceremonies which
commemorate life s stages are called sacraments; in Hinduism, these are called saṃskāras. Sacraments
are the visual aspect of invisible faith and are and expression of devotion to one s religion. In both
Christianity and Hinduism, people live their lives with respect to their religion s rules, with the aim of
reaching salvation or enlightenment respectively. Though these faiths are different in both objectives
and rituals, this western and non western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is an affirmation of the Faith one was inducted into at baptism and confession and committing
oneself formally to Christianity and devoting one s life to God. Those confirmed are recognized as
fully responsible members of the Church.
The sacrament of matrimony binds two people together as one. Marriage in the Christian religion
takes place in a church and is conducted by a priest. The couple makes vows to each other and God
and is a lifelong commitment.
Anointing of the Sick was once referred to as Extreme Unction. This sacrament previously was only
performed on those who were dying. Roman Catholics not only use this prayer and ritual to help
prepare a person for his or her death, but also to help a person regain health: mentally, physically, or
emotionally. Along with extreme unction, priests administer last rites, which gives the dying the
chance to confess once more. Anointing of the sick and the sacrament of confession are called the
Sacraments of Healing.
Holy Orders, or Ordination, occurs when a new priest is confirmed in an ordination ceremony. The
bishop preforms the ceremony and presents the priest with symbols of his new position, such as a
Bible. This sacrament inducts men into the clergy, passing on of the authority of the

The White Lady Cries Wolf in Rosewood
Rosewood is a ghost town located in Levy County, Florida. In the early 1920s Rosewood was a
developing town with churches, schools, mills and a growing population. The town was a majority
black town, but that was not much of a problem until a white lady cried wolf . Fannie Taylor, wife of
James Taylor who worked at a mill nearby, would have an affair with a white man. Fannie and her
white lover got into a physical altercation that left Fannie with obvious bruises. To prevent from
having to tell James about the affair she told her neighbors that a black man came and attacked her. As
word spread throughout the town some people added to her story that Fannie was also raped by the
black man. The thought of miscegenation is what angered the men and led to the Rosewood Massacre.
During the first week of January, 1923 in Rosewood the angry white men formed a search group for
the black man who raped Fannie. The search group murdered nearly every black man they saw and
burned down a portion of Rosewood. In 1997, John Singleton directed the movie Rosewood , which
told the story of the Rosewood Massacre. Overall the movie was great and included talented actors
like: Ving Rhames, Don Cheadle, Elise Neal, and Esther Rolle. I personally was engaged with the film
when it first started off, with the intimate sex scene with Jewel and Mr. Wright. Sex is intriguing for
almost anyone, so to start the movie off with sex was a clever way to grab the audience attention.

Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev Essay
Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev
The history of the Soviet Union is complicated and fascinating. In the course of only seventy years
this country has seen the development of the totally new system of state, economic growth, the growth
of hopes for the brighter future , and then the sudden and expected by no one collapse of the whole
system leading to chaos, wars, and confusion. One period is especially important in order to realize
how did things finally started to change after the seventy years of blindly pursuing the dream of
communism which left the Soviet Union in a very bad economical and moral state, and this period is
called perestroika, Russian for restructuring. The main figure behind this process which began in ...

This influence lasted for years and the fact that Gorbachev has become
westernized in his appearance, manners, dress and the image he projects of tolerance and cordial
behavior, all the small signs which mark him as different from the usual Komsomol and Party boss , is
according to Medvedev due to a great extent to the fact that Mlynar was Gorbachev s roommate
(Medvedev, 1986, p. 43).
Although the first part of the book is certainly interesting and important I would like to concentrate on
the second part of the book since it is directly deals with the subject that interests me most, that is the
years when Gorbachev was in power and the development of the new course in the Soviet life called
perestroika. From just reading the first paragraph it is obvious that the author approves of the new
leader. Medvedev writes: For the first time in
Soviet history, the leadership succession has meant more than the arrival of a new leader and the
possibility of the implementation of the new policies. The
Gorbachev succession marks the appearance of a new political generation which differs from the old
guard in style, knowledge and historical vision....Gorbachev represents a younger post war political
generation, a generation which started its professional Party or state career during the more liberal
Krushchev era (p. 165). Medvedev quotes some of the very enthusiastic
Western newspaper comments which called Gorbachev a bright, incisive,

P3: outline how consumers are protected in contracts for the sale of goods Using the phone contract
selected in P1 and focusing on the customers this briefing sheet will provide an explanation of how a
contract protects the customers and what happens if that contract is breached. Definition of Goods:
Goods are any form of products that are supplied to consumers for their convenience. They are
generally modelled as having diminishing marginal utility. Ultimately, whether an object is a good or a
bad depends on each individual consumer and therefore, it is important to realize that not all goods are

buyer (consumer) has expressly or impliedly known to the seller. Satisfactory quality: The satisfactory
quality is where the sellers sell goods for the good of their business; there is an implied term that the
goods that is supplied are of the right satisfactory quality. However except to the extent of defects
which are brought straight to the buyer s attention, this will be done before the contract is made
meaning that T Mobile will need to sell satisfactory quality to their consumers. Conclusion: Overall in
the briefing sheet I have made sure that all evidence is provided, also that a clear explanation is made
of how a contract protects the consumer and what happens if that contract is breached. Mainly
information is suggested on the different conditions made by the sales of goods act such as title,
description, fitness for purpose and also satisfactory quality. Factors that invalidate contracts: There
are many factors that can make a contract invalidated, which means that the contracts cannot be used
anymore, such as the following: Misrepresentation: Misrepresentation is where there is a false
statement in the contract which is made by one of the parties to the

Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
By Achieving this awareness, they come to perceive reality differently; by broadening the horizon of
their perception, they discover more easily in their background awareness the dialectical relations
between the two dimensions of reality, (Freire, 115). Paulo Freire s, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, was
written over three thousand years after Plato and his own work, The Republic, but the two contain
very similar messages. Freire proposes to his readers that the oppressed are being dehumanized. With
this dehumanization follows a lack of education and the oppressed peoples understanding of
liberation. Although modern terminology such as banking education and problem posing replace

Shackled in a cave, believing that shadows are your realities is no way for a human to live. Although,
perhaps not fully aware of it, the moment the light hits the his eyes, outside of the cave, he is afraid of
the new freedom he is heading for. Finally accepting the collapse of the world he once knew, he
realizes that for a majority of his life he has been neglected of the conditions that make people human.
Like Freire, Plato is addressing the issues of oppression and transformation, and how it affects
humanity as well as fears associated with freedom once the oppressed is liberated. In Plato s allegory
the transformation does not just happen. An initial cause was required to allow for the man to ascend
to the opening of the cave; this initial cause is a teacher. Guiding him further back out the cave than
anyone had ever tried before. Allowing him to finally see beyond the shadows and echos he was so
accustomed to. It is this idea, of a teacher who guides but does not fully reveal, that Freire takes and

An Analysis Of Madeleine L Engle s A Wrinkle In Time
In the given passage from A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L Engle the main character, Meg, gives a
tone of misery as she discusses the story of her father s disappearance with Calvin. Meg first shows
this tone when the passage says, Nothing happened, Meg said. That s the trouble. Well, what about
your father s letters? They just stopped coming. You haven t heard anything at all? No, Meg said.
Nothing. Her voice was heavy with misery. In the last sentence it says that Meg s voice is heavy with
misery, therefore, showing that she has been miserable since her father left, this also sets a tone of
misery for the reader. Meg next sets a tone of misery when in the text it says, Again Meg leaped up,
and again Calvin pulled her down. No!

Nobody Identity
The character Nobody, is perhaps the most highly intelligible representation of a native American of
any western films. Nobody was rejected by his own native culture and adopting the name given to him
which means He who talks too much says nothing summing up the false capitalistic activity of the
Western culture (Petković 2011, p 10). Nobody s decision to rename himself demonstrates that he is
cognizant that he is not identical with his socially assigned identity. (J, McMahon). Although he
resembles an Indian, he is well educated and speaks English very well, due to being schooled by white
English speaking men which transcends traditional stereotypes. Jarmusch doesn t try to simplify the

Painter and writer Henri Michaux (1899 1983) who s work has become The source of a number of
visual motifs and plot turns (Suarez, 2007, 106). Much like Jarmusch his work is associated with
surrealism. Michaux s words are quoted in the epigraph of the opening titles that It s preferable not to
travel with a dead man which originates from his collection of sketches entitled Un Certain Plume. In
the first sketch of the series, he wakes up repeatedly during the night to confront a number of disasters
and unable to deal with them, he just falls asleep again (Suarez 2007, 106). Blake spends the course of
the film slipping in and out of consciousness presumably due to a number of health factors such as his
wound, lack of sleep and food. One scene which reflects his work is the scene of Nobody performing
a ritual on Blake during the night while Blake is unconscious. In Nobody s trance like state the camera
shows Blake s face is double exposed with the image of a skull (figure 1). This is a reference to
Michaux s painting The Prince of Night of which depicts a figure with a skull like face sitting on a

  • 3. Mackenzie King Leadership Unforgettable actions that will always be remembered in honour of Mackenzie King, which made him such a great leader. In my opinion William Lyon Mackenzie King showed that he was an effective leader through his duty of being Canada s 10th Prime Minister for 29 years. King made huge impacts on many lives and both world wars in being Canada s best Prime Minister. Mackenzie King did many effective actions throughout his years of being Prime Minister, however three events stood out the most. King showed that he was an effective leader because he created crown corporations, had a dream to start the British Commonwealth Air Training Program and created Unemployment Insurance for people who needed it. Not only did he serve the longest time as Canada s Prime Minister but he successfully affected many lives. Firstly, Mackenzie King showed great leadership towards the people because of this dream of starting the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). Mackenzie King was determined in 1939 to have a dream which he believed was a sign of the power of the airplane in determining ultimate victory . All over the country, Canadians decided to mobilized to take part in this event. In order to take on this event an army of experts would have to be assembled, a development in airfields and equipment, including airplanes. Between the years 1940 1945 there was 151 schools established and thousands civilians that were members of the Royal Canadian Air Force, mainly the Women s division trained and worked for BCATP facilities. By the end of the Second World War, the BCATP had produced 131,553 aircrew, including pilots, wireless operators, air gunners, and navigators for the Air Forces of Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. This all Started when Canada s government realized it was an opportunity for them to make a significant commitment to the Allied war efforts. The final agreement was made on December 17, 1939 and all countries that were involved in this dream signed the papers, which listed the percentages of trainees they need to send, the cost they would need to pay, schedule of training times. This all came to a close in March on the 31st 1945. King was so confident in this dream he had envisioned that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Negatives Of Online Education The Negatives of Online Education Online education is a type of distance learning. The student is taking courses without attending a school or university. Instead, online students and teachers interact over the Internet. Online classes can teach students educational responsibility. By forcing them to access the online portal to participate in reading the textbooks/lectures and doing the assignments. Technical abilities is also learned with online classes. Students who lack the tech savvy knowledge can learn how to navigate through the online environment. Being able to access the online portal at any given time of the day is one other benefit to online education. Though online education may seem beneficial, there are more negatives than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of poor communication in online classes. There will be students who will never email the instructors for more details about an assignments, or, there will be older students who don t know how to email the instructors for more details. If the student doesn t understand an assignment, and never emails to ask for more details, can result in a poor grade for the lack of knowledge in knowing what they re doing. There s one final drawback to not having social interactions with instructors; Students can potentially miss out on building relationships that can result in helpful guidance and recommendation letters down the road when needed. Students who are prone to procrastination will have a difficult time adjusting to online classes. Hours of work are necessary to get through all of the materials, including course lectures, educational videos, assignments, projects, assigned textbook reading and discussions. For students who are getting an online degree, especially an online master s degree, require a greater amount of work. The positive of online classes is being able to access the class in any free time. Most online classes though, require work to be turned in on certain days and times. Which makes it harder for students to remember when assignments need to be done. The pleasure of the instructor reading/lecturing the textbook material out loud won t be there. It ... • 6. George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion And Willy Russell s... Explore how Change is presented in George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion and Willy Russell s Educating Rita. Educating Rita is a modern adaptation of Pygmalion, which is based on a figure in Greek mythology when a sculptor named Pygmalion carves a woman out of ivory but ends up falling in love with her. These two books follow the journeys of two women, one in the early 1900s named Eliza and one in the 1960s named Rita. They both enlist the help of teachers to try and guide them into a higher class of society, but the teaching styles, and consequences are different in the two plays. There are two angles of change that I will take. One is how and why Rita and Eliza change throughout the novel and the changes experienced by the characters. The teaching style for change in Educating Rita is focused on exam technique. Frank teaches Rita how to pass her exams, teaching the rules of the game , and so Rita can learn about literature and culture in order so that she can converse and talk in a higher class. However, this is an extremely hard task, as Rita wants to learn everything, yet she had an almost non existent education; Frank says you ve barely had a basic schooling, you ve never passed an exam in your life. This means that Frank has to start from scratch and give Rita basic schooling like sentence structure and exam technique and so forth. Frank also has to change Rita s personal and emotional responses to books and literature into analytical and robotic essays that Frank so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Batman The Unexpected Cultural Revolution Summary Critique of Batman, The unexpected Cultural Revolution In the essay Batman, The Unexpected Cultural Revolution Chris Gould sheds light on Batman, and how the comics are described as dismal yet the show was made to be laughable with a main character described as gentle. The main point of Gould s essay is that the show has become a pop art utopia (pg. 268) and how it shaped the morals of a young generation. The Batman TV show thus became a depiction of pop art utopia, where bright colors forever defeated darkness, where creativity forever defeated logic and Good forever triumphed over Evil. (Gould 1). The author of Batman, the unexpected Cultural Revolution made the argument that Batman left a lasting impact on society and he uses valid information to prove his point. Chris Gould explains how William Dozier introduced Batman, the crime fighting superhero, to TV in 1966. The show was about a man in a suit that fought crime with his teenage sidekick. The show was aimed at families, it wanted to send a positive message to younger viewers. Gould also notes that the show analized a number of trends that were occurring during that time such as; the hippie movement, corruption in politics, the power of technology, and pop art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gould is impassive in his essay, however, the show scorned hippies on two separate occasions. The first time hippies were scorned when A flower power criminal named Louis the Lilac, played by Milton Berle, was created to illustrate this point, expressing the belief that hippies could be controlled and manipulated to serve his own nefarious ends. (Gould 270).Gould uses this to provide evidence for his claim that writers disliked the young social movements, so it was surprising the show actually became as popular with pop art. Gould described one episode that made fun of pop art ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Project Planning For A Suitable Development Model Essay 2.1.1 PROJECT PLANNING: Project planning consists of the following important activities:  Effort, cost, resource and project duration estimation.  Risk identification and analysis. An important task performed during the project planning stage is the selection of a suitable development model. We are developing E परीक्षा web site which is based on Spiral Model, because it offers a means of making the development process more visible. Because of the cascade from one phase to another, this model is known as Spiral Model. It is also known as System Life Cycle. 2.1.1.1 The Spiral Model: Spiral model is a combination of iterative development process model and sequential linear development model i.e. waterfall model with very high emphasis on risk analysis. It allows for incremental releases of the product, or incremental refinement through each iteration around the spiral. The spiral model has four phases. A software project repeatedly passes through these phases in iterations called Spirals . 1) IDENTIFICATION 2) DESIGN 3) CONSTRUCTOR BUILD 4) EVALUATION AND RISK ANALYSIS 1) IDENTIFICATION : This phase starts with gathering the business requirements in the baseline spiral. • 9. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Analysis Motives are the most common source of an outcome, leading individuals to every action that occurs. Every decision made by an individual is influenced by some sort of motive, whether it is physiological, social, or personal. Ken Kesey presents to the reader the inspiration behind the characters course of action in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, resulting in the change of heart from Dr.Spivey and Randle McMurphy. The impact from other individuals often alters the reasoning for an action. Doctor Spivey originally supported Nurse Ratched s actions, but Mcmurphy influenced him to make decisions based on the needs and wants of the patients. Mcmurphy inspires the men to voice their opinion and builds their confidence up, so that they can take on the Nurse. Nurse Ratched does not agree with the men, so she does everything in her power to eliminate the men s masculinity in order for her to keep the ward running like she desires. Doctor Spivey is easily persuaded by other individuals when it comes to choosing a side. In the beginning of the novel, Doctor Spivey agrees with the Nurse because of his tendency to be easily manipulated and because of the consequences that may come about if he were to disagree with her plan of action. Doctor Spivey s masculinity was stripped by Nurse Ratched along with the other patients. Once Mcmurphy is admitted to the ward the Doctor begins to see how the ward is ran through a different perspective, and he starts to stand up for the men instead of lurking in the shadows of Nurse Ratched. Doctor Spivey has a discussion with Mcmurphy about the music; they make a plan to make the patients happy. During the meeting Doctor Spivey tells the men that the day room will have the music turned up for the chronics and the acutes can go to another room where there will be no music. Unlike the Nurse, Doctor Spivey is willing to change the routine up, and accommodate both the needs and wants of all the patients. This action also presents to the reader that being influenced by others isn t always bad, it just means that you are listening to others opinions. The turning point in the novel is when the Doctor decides to go on the fishing trip with the men. The inspiration for this decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While making observations during field work, Ben and Maureen actually saw an employee take previously thrown away dog food out of a dumpster and place it in Henry s vehicle. I knew from this incident, that Smackey Dog Foods, Inc had a major weakness in their internal controls with inventory and possibly an outright problem with theft. My team was present at the physical inventory count to help ensure the accuracy of the count and we performed various analytical procedures on the inventory such as comparing the gross margin percentage, the inventory turnover, and unit costs of inventory with those of the previous years. We also ensured that all expired/obsolete inventories was disposed of and not counted as we were aware of an issue that Smackey was having with the handling of returned inventory. In order to confirm the accounts receivable balances, I decided to use positive confirmations since this was my first time auditing the company and the collateral for the loan would be the receivables. The confirmations helped to verify the accuracy and existence of the accounts. I also calculated the Receivables Turnover Ratio in order to better evaluate the overall success of collection on accounts. The sample size that I chose was determined by the factors of tolerable misstatement, inherent risk, control risk, achieved detection risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It all started in my early age of my school where I was taught a basic language of computers and how the computers can be programmed. After seeing my interest in computers, my father bought me an Intel Celeron based computer with 256 Megabyte of RAM during my middle school days. Compare to today s fast operating systems, this computer really tested my patience. After playing around with it, I discovered myself more into it and tried making it work faster. I had even tried changing some of its files on my own so that it can work the way I want it. I tried fixing it in a way so that it can help me opening the Microsoft 97 without freezing it. This ... • 13. The Theory Of Public Health Introduction Medical system in the world have defined Health in their own ways since time immemorial. Winslow (1920) defines public health as The science and art of preventing disease , prolonging life and promoting physical and mental efficiency through organised community effort for the sanitation of the environment , the control of communicable infections , the education of the individual in personal hygiene , the organisation medical and nursing services for the early diagnosis and preventive treatment of disease . Risk groups are those who are exposed to risk factors. The term risk factor means an attribute or exposure that is significantly associated with the development of the disease or a determinant that can be modified by intervention , thereby reducing the possibility of occurrence of disease or other specified outcomes . ( Soben Peter , 2009 ). According to Geoffrey Rose the two approaches of aetiology the individual and the population approach have their respective roles in prevention. In the first , the individuals who are at high risk are first identified and then provided them with protection. In contrast , the population strategy focuses on the determinants of the incidence in the population as a whole. (Rose , 1985) High risk strategy and population based ... There is the need for everyone to feel that they have their own space when needed to just escape, while also having a sense of inclusion for all the family members. • 15. Cystic Fibrosis Analysis To understand the effects that Cystic Fibrosis has, it is important to discuss CFTR synthesis and trafficking. Mutations in the CFTR results in protein misfolding, causing a defect in cellular processing and trafficking that targets the protein for degradation and reduces the quantity of CFTR at the cell surface [56]. In order for the CFTR to function correctly, then it must be synthesized, folded, and transported to the apical membrane of the cell without problem. The CFTR passes through quality control systems to get rid of misfolded proteins that would not function properly or that could become damaged [16]. It is apparent that only 33% of CFTR folds correctly and is allowed to leave the endoplasmic reticulum [8]. The nucleus is the site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One system detects defects in the cytosolic parts of the CFTR while the other detects defects within the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It is apparent that ubiquitylating proteins work with specific factors in order to detect misfolding. For example, Hsp70 detects mutations in the cytosolic regions of the CFTR. It is suspected that Hsp70 keeps the CFTR soluble until the E3 ligase CHIP binds with it. The complex that forms between these two redirects the CFTR to the degradation pathway. Derlin 1 is involved with detecting defects in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane and is involved in the retro translocation of CFTR from the endoplasmic reticulum so that it can be send to the proteasome for degradation [20]. If the CFTR protein is folded correctly within the endoplasmic reticulum, then it is sent to the Golgi apparatus. The coat protein complex II (COPII), which is found within the ER membrane, helps to maintain the correct CFTR structure and location, conformation, and protein protein interactions as this occurs. Final processing for the CFTR is carried out within the Golgi, as the CFTR replaces a mannose enriched side chain with a mature complex oligosaccharide side chain. After this is completed, the CFTR is moved to the apical membrane where it has a half life of 12 to 24 hours. If a CFTR is functioning poorly within the membrane, then it can be recognized by Hsc70 and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kobee Crown Discussion Section: Gamble 10:00 AM Analyzing Alienated Labor in Regards to Democracy The strive to maximize profits causes firms to mass produce commodity goods, which forces workers to dedicate a large portion of their time to their labor. The efficiency of mass production is certainly questionable, as economists like Keynes predicted that, given the massive technological leaps that nations such as the United States and Great Britain were already making, the average work week would be reduced to between fifteen and twenty hours a week by the twenty first century (Graeber, Bullshit Jobs ). It is not a large stretch to assume that most of the sweatshop workers employed by Nike have never worn any of the items that they had a part in producing, which serves to create an effect of resentment, as those workers view Nike products as a reminder of their servitude and likely nothing more. Like the product of one s labor, the process of labor itself can also be a source of estrangement for workers in a capitalistic society. When workers have no influence on the circumstances surrounding their production, they can be treated as commodities. Those that are working in sweatshops are often doing so out of necessity, which gives firms control over laborers as they dominate the means of production and therefore have more leeway in regards to practices such as forcing workers to endure improper conditions or providing low wages. Firms like Nike can easily establish monopolies in the market for cheap labor in developing nations like Indonesia, eliminating the competition for wages along with any possibility of class ascendance. The result of this is the existence of laborers who are completely disconnected from the undertaking of their work, as it only serves as both a means of subsidence and a reminder of one s reliance on the bourgeoisie. • 21. Effect Of Substrate Concentration On Enzyme Activity The Effect of Environmental Conditions on Enzyme Activity Ikram Hassan SBI3UW 02 November 13, 2017. Research Question: What is the effect of substrate concentration (as measured in % concentration) on the rate of enzyme activity (as calculated by the dividing the measured distance in cm, +/ 0.1 cm, travelled by a substance in a manometer by the time in seconds, +/ 0.5 seconds)? Background: A substrate is a molecule which is acted upon by an enzyme. For a chemical reaction to occur through enzyme, substrate molecules bind to the active site of an enzyme, which contains residues that catalyse the reaction of the substrate. Hypothesis: If the concentration of the substrate is increased, then the rate of enzyme activity will decrease. This is because as the concentration of the substrate increases, there is an increasing amount of occupied active sites at any given moment. This will cause a decrease in the rate of enzyme activity as substrate active site collisions are increasingly slowed down thus bringing down the rate of enzyme activity. Variables: Independent: Substrate Concentration: Throughout the experiment, the concentration of the substrate used will be increased in order to determine the effect of an increase of substrate concentration on enzyme activity. The substrate throughout the experiment will be a hydrogen peroxide solution and an original 30% concentration will be diluted with water into 10% and 5% concentrations in order to observe the effect of ... The Themes Of Death And Death Cambridge Hinds Big Question Paper The Meaning of Death The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431 BCE, and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular themes in ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels, movies, TV shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the movie The Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez. Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be for better or worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a bittersweet occasion as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the Decameron, and The Book of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance from the living. However, these texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively, it means tragic revenge, a feared end, and reconciliation as well as separation.
