Compare And Contrast Traditional Teaching Styles
No teachers are similar as well as no students learn in the same way. Every teacher has their own
unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom s
demographic, what subject area they teach, and the school s mission statement. Up until now,
teachers are looking for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will
develop the students critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order
and in control, but they also want their students to appreciate the learningprocedure. These teaching
styles can be divided into two approaches the teacher centered and learner centered.
Traditional teaching styles use teacher centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the
front and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is
learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information
giver and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions.
Their attention is mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations.
Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The earliest
recorded occurrence of education proved that people learned in a ... Show more content on

Students are placed in the responsibility of their own learning and understanding while the
teachers encourage students to be more independent and more exploratory. The teachers will
foster a sense of autonomy in the learning process as they act as a source of experiences. In
addition, as the students watch their teacher makes mistakes, they will learn those failures are part
of the learning process. The students will soon realize that mistakes are natural in life and it will
serve as stepping stones to

The Silmarillion
The book read had the title of The Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien. The Lord of The Rings, a
widely read trilogy of books adapted for the screen in a trilogy of popular movies, takes place in
the Land of Middle Earth. Some fans of the series do not realize that Middle Earth was no
abstract concept in the mind of its creator, J. R. R. Tolkien. On the contrary, he developed an
intricate language, mythology, and history for his country. After his death, his son Christopher
helped gather and publish some of these works for the enjoyment of people around the world. A
detailed history of Middle Earth became available four years after the death of Tolkien, called
The Silmarillion. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien came into the world on January 3, 1892 in Cape
Town, South Africa. His father, Arthur Tolkien, worked at The Bank Of Africa, but died
tragically when he was only four years old. Mabel Tolkien, having already returned to England
for the sake of her child s health, raised her children on the small investments her husband had
left her and the occasional generosity of relatives. He attended King Edward s School for the
majority of his youth, and from an early age showed a proficiency for languages. Upon Ronald s
mothers death just before his thirteenth birthday, he and his brother Hilary were taken in by Father

The Greatest American Company
On April 1, 1976, one of the greatest American companies was created: Apple Incorporated. From
that point on, tablets were never the same. Apple has paved the way for tablet devices in the field
of technology. Apple is mostly known for their Macintosh computers, which were first unveiled on
January 4, 1984, but on April 3, 2010 Apple outdid themselves once again with the the invention of
the iPad. The iPad is an all in one tablet like device. With the iPad learning is able to go way
beyond the classroom (www.apple.com). With the invention of the iPad, it has changed the way
people learn, especially in the field of education. The iPad has become a revolutionary tool in the
field of education. iPads make up 94 percent of the tablet market for the education sector
(Schaffhauser 1). The iPad has numerous uses from storing multiple textbooks to being able to
use a cloud based word processing application. The iPad is capable providing over 65,000 apps
just for education, interactive books on every subject, and speeches, virtual tours, and videos from
experts and institutions around the world (www.apple.com). The possibilities of the iPad are
endless: Students don t just watch, listen, or read with iPad they create with it. iPad comes with
powerful apps that turn every assignment into something big. A multimedia presentation. A photo
documentary. A riveting research project. Suddenly, the work they need to do becomes work they

The Case Of Philo Riggs Vs. Elmer E. Palmer
In this paper, I will consider the case of Philo Riggs vs Elmer E. Palmer in The Court of Appeals
of New York in 1889. In this suit, Mr. Palmer s grandfather and Mrs. Riggs father created a will
where he bequeathed his wealth upon his death. Most of his wealth he left to Mr. Palmer and the
rest he left to Mrs. Riggs and her sister, Mrs. Preston. At the time the case was brought to court,
Palmer was in prison for murdering his grandfather. As a result of his actions, Mrs. Riggs and Mrs.
Preston brought this case to court in order to annul the portions of the will that favored Mr. Palmer.
I will be reviewing the arguments of the arguments of the dissenting judge, Judge Gray and the
majority judge, Judge Earl and the merits behind their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was already tried for murder and was punished sufficiently. Even, if you were to use the
argument that there was some intention from Francis Palmer to change his will so Elmer wouldn t
get what was promised in the current will, that intention is not enough without action to back it up
and change the will. The laws of the state describing how a will may be altered state that Mere
intention to revoke a will does not have the effect of revocation. The intention to revoke is
necessary to constitute the effective revocation of a willНѕ But it must be demonstrated by one of
the acts contemplated by the statute. Judge Gray s reasoning follows closely with Legal
Positivism, which includes the following two principles; 1) a legal system is a closed logical
system where legal decisions are logically deduced from predetermined legal rules, and 2) moral
judgments cannot be defended in the same way that facts can be defended by rational argument,
evidence or proof. As we can see, Gray does not concern himself with morals if they cannot be
logically justified. He believes the legal decisions of this case should be one based off the laws
that are written, not based on whether we have moral qualms about giving property to a man who
murdered his grandfather to obtain that property. Unless there can be a logical reason for not
giving him what he deserved even after he was properly punished, then according to legal
positivism Mr. Palmer should get what was

Analysis Of Martin Luther s The Worricker
What is heroism? Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman among many others are the people
who we idolize and perceive as heroes from an early age. Perhaps we do this because they have
incredible powers we wish we had as kids and as adults. Or maybe because they often save lives
and in extreme cases, the world. If that is the case, why do we not consider and idolize real people
such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King J.R, or Bertrand Russell who through civil
disobedienceshowed true heroism? They too had incredible powers and saved lives, so why not
consider them heroes and idolize them? Gandhi, King, and Russell showed the world that one
doesn t need laser vision to change and save the world, yet they are not idolized or perceived as...

His superior, Benedict Baron, wanted to make this information go public, but he dies of a heart
attack before he can do so. This then means that the file cannot be made public. Because this
occurs, Worricker is encouraged to keep quiet about the file since no one will believe him, but he
knows that this is wrong and believes that the information should go public. The people, such as
the Prime Minister, who wanted Worricker decide to go after him before he goes public. Because
of this, Worricker is forced to flee before anyone goes after him. At this point Worricker seems to be
acting consistent with the ethical emphasis that Satyagraha advocate Mahatma Gandhi advocates

He is one of the few people who know information that the government does not want the British to

In Turks and Caicos, the second film of the trilogy, Worricker is wanted by the British government
because they still fear that he will go public about the Prime Minister knowing information of
Americans torturing for information that could ve saved British lives so Worricker is hiding in the

My Field Experience At Bushwick United Head Start Program
For my field experience, I had the opportunity to observe a four year old pre kindergarten
classroom on November 5th and 12th at Bushwick United Head Start program. The school is
located at 136 Stanhope street, Brooklyn, N.Y. Majority of the families the school serve are
Hispanics, and as a result, the student body entails mostly ELL students. There are approximately
130 students enrolled in the program, and out of that 130, about 10% speaks English. The school
uses an additive model of English Language to support both the student s home language and foster
and support English language acquisition. The classrooms are staffed with teachers who speak the
children s home language, who can apply some use of the home language within the classroom and
providing hands on experiences for students. Additionally, to support students with disability, the
school also partnered with United Community Services (UCS), a program that offers speech
therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy to students. The school uses the evidence based
Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is aligned with Head Start Performance Standards,
NAEYC guidelines and the NY State Prekindergarten Common Core Standards. The classroom I
observed consists of seventeen students, eight of which girls and nine are boys. Of the seventeen
students, nine receive services from UCS, and five of which understood and speak English, though
not fluently. The students are often pulled out the classroom to receive

Franz Joseph Haydn s Symphony No. 94 Symphony
When listening to Classical music I think of rich, precise, high quality, and pristine music that
either gives you relaxing feeling or gives you that want to dance feeling. One of my favorite
composers of this era was Franz Joseph Haydn and he incorporated both of these feelings in his
arrangements.
Franz Joseph Haydn was born in 1732 in Austria. He struggled early in life and worked as a
freelance musician. He began his career singing soprano at Saint Stephen s Cathedral and later
started giving keyboard lessons, playing in street bands, and singing or playing violin and organ at
three different churches every Sunday (Wright, C. M., 2014, p.159, para. 2). In 1779, Haydn

94 Surprise Symphony. The genre of this musical composition is a symphony and it consists of a
three movement minuet and trio. The piece has a stately dance feel to it with a very solid rhythm,
nice melody, and a rich full sound. It is written in ternary form and the entire minuet trio minuet
forms an ABA arrangement (Wright, C.M., 2014, p. 166). The divisions between sections of the
piece are well indicated and recognized by a change of theme, instrumentation, and volume. I really
liked the way the timpani helped accentuate the beat and help give the piece a driving tempo at
times. The woodwinds and strings also flowed well together as if telling a story. Some of the things
that stuck out to me and make this an enjoyable symphony were the rich full sound of the orchestra
instruments along with the bouncy rhythm and tempo. While listening to the arrangement I could
hardly sit still, the music just made me want to move with it. It gave me the mental image of a
large stately ballroom with numerous dancers dancing about. I also liked the way different sections
of the arrangement were easily recognized by a change in volume and

Persuasive Essay On Butterflies
You have decided to release butterflies at your wedding. Do not wait too long to look for a
farmer to purchase your butterflies. It takes approximately 4 to 5 weeks to raise the butterflies.
You want to make sure that you are able to purchase the type and quantity of butterflies that you
would like. So it is a good idea to start looking at least 3 months or more in advance and reserve
your butterflies, preferably 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Most farmers ask that ВЅ be paid to reserve
the butterflies and the remainder is due approximately 2 weeks before the event.

Better Marriage Or The Virtue Of Acceptance
better marriage or the virtue of acceptance rubbing off on her from the nuns. In either case, Lori

All in all, the party was a success, and just enough to catapult us emotionally through the rest of the
quarter. Putting up with the likes of Randolph and Loeuw made the quarter seem terribly long, but
with Thanksgiving recess just around the corner, the long hours that went into Pathology were all

In spite of his latest crises, my father was still able to find much to be grateful for at Thanksgiving.
He was a master of the Polish art of rationalization, and able to see something bright and special in
the gloomiest circumstances.
Over a few Stegmaier beers on Thanksgiving night, my father joked about his latest predicament,
and found comfort in the words of his former mentor, Eddie Kuharcik who used to say, When life
hands out lemons, make lemonade!
My father spoke freely about Eddie Kuharcik, and his role in starting my father in business. I could
see how my father s taking Curly Kedzierski under his wing was his way of repaying Eddie.
In all the time my father talked about Eddie and the good old days on the Heights, he never once
mentioned my mother. It had been over twenty years since my mother left home, and in all those
years and the many conversations I shared with my father, her name was never mentioned. My
father had mellowed with age, but I doubted if he would ever become liberal minded enough to talk
about my mother again.
The Thanksgiving break was memorable for me, but probably more so for a number of my
classmates. When the second quarter began, no fewer than five students announced they had
become engaged over Thanksgiving. This was a significant number of students insofar as only six
students in our class entered medical school in the state of marital bliss, and only four had joined
the ranks during our first year.

Bilbo s The Big Adventure And Bilbo Essay
A week has passed since the big adventure and Bilbo is now taking some time to relax at his
home that he has missed so much. As Bilbo was watching TV on his couch he saw a strange
commercial appear. The commercial was about a new dimension that was recently founded by
an elf. This new dimension caught Bilbo s eye, as he found it looked very interesting and odd.
Bilbo immediately thought to himself that he must visit there one day, but how? , he asked
himself. Bilbo had no idea how he would get to this strange new dimension nor when he would
have the guts to step back outside again. Despite Bilbo still being shook up from the last
adventure, he figured that if he traveled to this foreign place; there would be no one
accompanying him to push him around or anything, he would have no specific demands, and he
wouldn t have to face any dangerous obstacles, or so he thought. While Bilbo was still
pondering about when or if he would travel to this new place, he heard a knock at his door. Bilbo
went to see who was at the door hesitantly, since he could not remember if he had invited
someone over or not. As he opened the door to his surprise, he saw another hobbit who was just
a little shorter than him and had looked like he was all beaten up. Bilbo saw that he did not look
like he was in a good condition. Bilbo immediately took him in and started asking questions. Are
you okay? Who are you? What happened to you? Where do you come from? Do you need a place
to stay? , asked Bilbo

Important Aspects Of A Functioning Classroom
Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning
classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We ve debated what it means to
be a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of
the theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey,
Friedrich Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and
the importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature.
Also, we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor
classrooms. In my opinion, the educationsystem should have minor changes that benefit the
students more. Despite the various flaws, schools are extremely important for students
especially on a social stand point. They can be around children their own age and interact in
various scenarios. Socializing is important for children of all ages, it helps them develop listening
skills, communication skills, how to share, how to work in groups, and compromise. Every
interaction a child has is a learning experience. They learn what is right or wrong and how to
communicate appropriately, social interaction plays a key role in cognitive development. Lev
Vygotsky was a cognitive theorist who believed social interaction and imaginative play were
critical in child development. Imaginative play is actually a complex process

Gregg s Appliances Case Study

Introduction This issue for case study 1 6 is brought to us by Steve Nelson and the company of
the Gregg s Appliances, Inc. The HH Gregg Company was founded on April 15, 1955 in
Indianapolis by Henry Harold Gregg and his wife. The initial store was an 800 square feet
appliance showroom and office. Since then the company has expanded and with that expansion the
company needed more and more information technology in order to harness the power of the
information they had acquired. But in 2006 the current CIO, Steve Nelson, was facing a deadline.
The deadline was the HP, which was Gregg s principal information technology vendor, has chosen

The bonuses to this choice would be lower costs compared to Delphi and Sentra, Gregg s could
maintain current business processes and there is limited training required. But the Texas Firm
UNIX platform does not move Gregg s to an industry standard and it requires significant
development staff time. The other UNIX choice was from Ex ADI costing $4 $5 million. The
process for this change would be to hire programmers and re write into a UNIX platform
internally. The biggest benefit to this selection was that it allows for phase in implementation,
which means no business will be stopped. It is also much cheaper than Delphi and Sentra options.
The software will also be high adaptable and customizable and limited training will be required.
But this will not move the company to an industry standard and nothing will seem new. There are
several big risks when changing important software in a large company. It could lead to a sudden
halt of the business during the deployment because of a failed database, a bad internet connection or
the inability of staff to input or process orders. The system might not be able to handle the work
load. Lastly, there could be an unexpected complete system shutdown. There are also other costs to
consider. Along with the implementation and annual maintenance costs outlined in the summary,
Nelson Must also consider other costs including: * Training costs * Testing costs * Costs of lost

feelings of freedom, saying I m drifting through the halls with the sunrise... . The lyrics however

How To Write An Essay On The Cardiovascular System
Cardiovascular System
April 18th, 2016 Cade.S Matthew.B
Have you ever wondered how the heart transports blood to the whole body? Did you know that the
circulatory system can also be called the cardiovascular or vascular system? This is the most
important system of the 11 major organ systems because this system controls the heart and the veins
throughout the body. There are also at least 5 major functions of the cardiovascular system.
Some of the major functions of the cardiovascular system are transporting hormones and fighting
off diseases. Other functions include transporting the nutrients and removing the waste from the
body. The cardiovascular system can also regulate your body temperature. Some of these functions
are not as important as transporting oxygen to the heart and removing the carbon dioxide from the

These symptoms could lead to chest pain (angina) or a heart attack. Over time, this could lead up to

The strategic planning of an organisation specifies the direction (type of businesses and markets to
enter and how to compete in the market) that the organisation intends to take over the long term to

information from costing, budgeting, performance measurement systems, as well as information
from analytical studies, both external and internal to the organisation (Smith, 2010). The
implementation of the strategy requires management accounting system link the long term plans to

The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum
The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum
Knowing about the writer of a literary text can shape significantly the way that it is read. Consider
the effect of the writer s context on your understanding of The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum.
As a writer of fiction Böll was interpreting history, creating patterns of meaning, ordering his
material to enable his reader to make sense of it. The experiences of Böll and his values that
arose from these events have been influential on the content and themes of Böll s novel, The Lost
Honour of Katharina Blum. Böll experienced both the first and second world wars and the effects
that these wars had on German society. Events such as the economic collapse in Germany post
WWII, the construction of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No, he could offer no proof of his claim nor did he want to, he even said he did not need to, he
could still rely on his sense of smell and he had simply smelled that Blum was a Communist.
These accusations are made without any supportive evidence and despite the clear capitalist
platforms that Katharina has based her life upon such as carefully saving up enough money to buy
an apartment and a car. Anyone who offered resistance to the dominant hegemonic structures in
society was viewed with suspicion and claimed to be a communist. The only result for Blorna was
that, at the conclusion of his inquiries in the village, he was himself described, if not precisely
abused, as a CommunistВ… The press spread such fear and paranoia about this ideology when in
fact Böll felt that some aspects of communism would benefit a capitalist society. Brettloh makes
the statement,
That s how false ideas about socialism are bound to end. I ask you and your readers: How does a
housemaid come by such wealth? Not honestly that s for sure. Now I know why I was always
scared by her radical views, her hostility to the ChurchВ…
This fear is then spread in society, tainting the way that others view Katharina. Dr Heinin goes on
to express, mistakenly assuming her to be a Marxist (probably he too had read the insinuation of
BrettlohВ…), was taken aback by

Private Benefit Analysis
Chief Justice Martin, writing for the majority, stated that [i]n addressing this question [of whether
or not the Program constitutes a public purpose,] we are mindful of the general proposition
articulated by this Court over forty five years ago: Unquestionably, the education of residents of
this State is a recognized object of State government. Further, the court emphasized the proper scope
of the long established definition of public purposes, instructing that [t]he term public purpose is
not to be narrowly construed. Despite these general propositions, the majority opinion made clear
that the Court has declined to confine public purpose by judicial definition, leaving each case to be
determined by its own peculiar circumstances... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dissent s argument was that if the Program is not delivering an education by North Carolina
standards, then it is wrong to characterize it as a public purpose. The majority opinion leaned
heavily on the inferential logic that education will always serve a public purpose, and, therefore,
the Program obviously qualified as a public purpose because it claims to serve an educational goal.
The dissent stressed that the majority missed a critical step in determining whether the Program
could constitutionally qualify as a public purpose. Justice Hudson noted that, while students
enrolled in private school may be receiving a fine education, in the eyes of their parents, if taxpayer
money is spent on a private school education that does not prepare them to function in and to
contribute to our state s society, that spending cannot be for public purposes only.

The Importance Of Stagflation In The United States
3.) Stagflation Stagflation is a slowdown in the economy, which can include high unemployment
and this is paired up with high levels of inflation. It is significant because the economy is
basically stuck. The middle class also tends to shrink in these periods because people loose the
ability to have spending money. This is somewhat going on now with rising gas and food prices.
5.) Patriot Act The law is intended to help government agencies detect and prevent possible acts of
terrorism, or sponsorship of terrorist groups. The U.S Pariot Act permits the government to
scrutinize peoples reading habits by monitoring public library and bookstore records, without
notifying the suspect. It also allows for sneak and peak tactics such as physical search of property

Question #1: Let us assume that a full feature movie in MP4 format has a size of 2.4GB. How
long would it take to download such a movie over: a)a T1 connection b)a T3 connection c)a
cable modem with 2Mbps connection d)a telephone modem of 56Kbps Answer #1: Before
specifically talk about how long the 2.4GB will take to completely get downloaded, I would like
to talk about the difference between Byte (B) and bits (b) first. A bit is a single number or a
single value which can be either 0 or 1 and this value is represent the digital information. A byte
is a sequence of bits; like a sequence of digital information, usually eight bits equals to one byte.
Now coming to the question, whenever you are downloading any file or software over internet it
takes time to get downloaded depending on the downloading speed of your internet connection.
Similarly, if we refer to the question and assume to download a MP4 format movie of total size
2.4GB (gigabytes), the downloading time of our movie will depend on the type of connection we
are using. Below are few types of connection which can tell how long... Show more content on

Summary Of Brandon King The American Dream
What is the American Dream? Is it defined by the amount of money you have or earn? Brandon
King wrote about the American Dream in the English book They Say I say with Readings, and he
defined the American dream as the, potential to work for an honest, secure way of life and save for
the future. Additionally, I believe this is the common perspective of the American Dream; it is all
about comfortability and affording the necessities of living and as Paul Krugman describes it the
standards of living . In essence, this includes having shelter, being financially stable, having a job
and ultimately making enough to be able to save. I believe this perspective of the American Dream

Explain How Many High School Students Have Jobs Before...
There are many high school students who take on jobs before they head to college. Having a job
throughout any period of time of your life can be a good advantage in your personal life and
future occupation. It can help by developing skills in the work area with your coworkers and
responsibility with your assigned tasks. Getting your first job you have real world responsibilities,
and money that you earned yourself, probably for the first time. In your teen years especially, the
independence that comes with a part time job is especially appealing. You get out of the house,
meet new people, forge professional connections, and make your own savings and spending
decisions.
Many students into today s society have some sort of a job before they head to college(typical).

I ve developed my opinion on this from the experience of having a job for three years of my high
school career(personal). It s improved my skills in time management, my ability to work with
people, and to be smart with money. Time management is important in the real world to be able
to juggle all of the tasks thrown at you. With the combination of personal life and work life, it
can become difficult to be on time, but having a job has already taught me that. Social skills is
another important quality to accomplish. You won t get anywhere in life if everyone hates you.
That s why it is important to be able to deal with an angry customer or unhappy coworker. While
being a cashier you have to always think before you open your mouth, because you never know
what the other person can do. I believe this gives you good patience and helps when other people
may be trying to talk to you. The job that I ve had had really turned me into a better person while

Rabies Essay
Abstract
Rabies is a highly infectious viral disease that can easily ruin and eventually end the lives of both
humans and animals alike. Rabies comes in two forms for animals. It comes in the form of
paralytic rabies, which is the kind that puts you in paralysis right from the beginning, skipping the
symptoms of agitation and excitability. Rabies also appears in the form of furious rabies, which is
completely different in the way that it makes the victim restless, vicious and agitated. When
humans get rabies, their symptoms start out with simple headaches and fevers and later progresses
to terrible things such as becoming hydrophobic because of painful throat spasms and paralysis. A

Paralytic rabies sometimes cause animals to become depressed and to hide off somewhere by
themselves. As the disease progresses, it takes the animal into paralysis. The symptoms of these
rabies are things like an animal s inability to raise its head up and even to make sounds. It might
also be unusually weak and lethargic. These unfortunate animals also look as if they re choking and
have continuous drool coming from their mouths. Another thing is it sometimes causes an animal
to lose its fear of humans. Any animal (that by nature is usually shy) seen being social with people
should raise alarm that the animal probably has rabies.
Furious rabies are just the opposite. They cause animals to become over ecstatic towards other
animals, people, and even stationary objects. Animals with furious rabies seem to be agitated and
restless at all times. In some cases, animals with furious rabies will gnaw and bite at their own
limbs. These animals are constantly growling at everything they see. They have also been known
for getting involuntary and intense seizures that are terribly painful for the animal.

where I felt the comfortable to grow and learn freely.
Greenville, South Carolina gives Jackie the feeling of comfort, safety and protection from the
harsh outside world. On a cold winter night Jackie is sitting on her porch resting her head in her
grandfather s warm arm, she look[s] up and the earth stops in a blanket of stars...[she doesn t]
need words on a night like this, just warmth [and] the silent promise that the world as [she]

stars, she is comfortable and safe. A blanket of stars is like a blanket which warms and comforts
you when you sleep, A blanket can also make someone feel safe, at least for me. When I was little,
when I would get scared I would hide under my blanket. Jackie is under the covers already since

The only time san serif font appears in the magazine is on the exterior covers, it brings up a
question of consistency, it becomes visually jarring to go from san serif to serif throughout.
Even if they had just chosen to make the embolden headers a san serif it would have brought th
exterior throughout the interior and the magazine as a whole would look uniform. The change in
paper quality for the section of art submissions is jarring, particularly because the glossed pages are
so white versus the eggshell color of the rest of the book. Page 22 is a complete waste of space.

Starting with the history of Grub Street street section, the font is distracting and needlessly

Describe what you observed in section 3 of the dish. Questions: A. Explain what is meant by
memory as a characteristic of the immune response. a. B. How does our immune response
distinguish between our own cells and foreign invaders? a. This function is mediated by T cells
and B cells (memory cells) in our body via adaptive immunity. The adaptive immune system
evolved in early vertebrates and allows for a stronger immune response as well as
immunological memory, where each pathogen is remembered by a signature antigen. The
adaptive immune response is antigen specific and requires the recognition of specific non self
antigens during a process called antigen presentation. Antigen specificity allows for the
generation of responses that are tailored to specific pathogens or pathogen infected cells. The
ability to mount these tailored responses is maintained in the body by memory cells. Should a
pathogen infect the body more than once, these specific memory cells are used to quickly
eliminate it. So basically killer T cells will identify antigens present on foreign cells. These
antigens are not found in any of the cells inside our body. Therefore, T cells will identify them and
kill them. C. What are lymphocytes and where are they produced? a. Lymphocytes are a type of

Political Participation Issue
The participation rates among citizens in politics tend to bend towards those with better
socioeconomic statuses, males of older age, and revolve around mostly white/Caucasian people
(those of European background.) This is due to popular sentiment, which is likely in relation to
historical development. The socioeconomic statuses are based on a person s education, income
and occupation. Meaning that the people with the most money, time and skills are most likely to
participate in political events. This tends to revolve around older people with higher education,
time and higher income. People with less socioeconomic status, which is a feature commonly
associated with people of color, are often those who are most in need of government aid to
improve their daily lives. The historical factors in comparison to this political participation issue,
would be that white males were the first to gain votingrights, leaving minorities (people of color
and women) to not obtain this ability until decades later. This factor influences our world today
where the national sentiment of a man s importance of voting is still emphasized.... Show more

Evolving Life
Have you ever wondered that when you think of someone and in a matter of seconds the person
is in front of , are you just lucky or are there some supernatural forces at play backstage ?This
question was also asked by Santiago and he had also set out on a practically impossible journey .In
the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns, When we strive to become` better than
we are, everything around us becomes better, too. First, Santiago understands that everything is not
impossible and when someone wants something like a mad person then circumstances twist and

it is achievable and all the universe helps them achieve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, while Santiago is witnessing the alchemist transforming lead into gold he realize that
everything in the universe is transforming and everything has their own personal legend and
nothing is constant in the world: When something evolves, everything around that thing evolves as
well. (Page 142). Santiago learns that lead can in fact really transform into gold and all those
stories told by the Englishman also make sense to him. Everything is evolving in the universe and

Things They Carried Theme
The Things They Carried Theme
In The Things They Carried, the reader will learn a lot about the thoughts and emotions of the
soldiers. The author will discuss what they think and do to not look weak or scared. They
carried their reputations. They carried the soldier s greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing.
Men killed, and died, because they were too embarrassed not to (O Brien,21).The soldiers fear
being seen as weak or dishonorable by their fellow soldiers and families.
Soldiers fear the feeling of embarrassing other soldiers and their families. Most of the soldiers in
this book did not want to go to war, they were drafted. Many soldiers wanted to flee, but the thought

Australian Catholic Social Teaching (CST)
Principles of Catholic Social Thought
Catholic social teaching (CST) or thought are belief or set of belief that is taught or developed by a
catholic church or religious organisations (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). It
expresses human dignity as a foundation for the common good in our society to flourish together as
one (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). Therefore, this wiki page will explain and
discuss each of nine CST.
Dignity of the Human Person
The principle of human dignity based on catholic social teaching is that every human being is the
live image of a god himself (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). therefore, every
individual in our society is worth of respect as a member of the ... Show more content on

Therefore, the individual s responsibility is to take care of the earth they live in. for instance,
taking care of family and friend and others with dignity is a way to show sign of our respect for the
god, who created the earth and the human (Catholic Charities, 2016).
Promotion of Peace
Most commonly heard catholic teaching is about the peace, concept that is action orientated and
about loving others (Catholic Charities, 2016). Promotion of peace involves peace and mutual
respects between people and the nations across the world (Catholic Charities, 2016). Therefore,
catholic teachings have a close relationship between peace and justice. When individuals and
nations keep the peace, society will flourish.
Participation
All individuals have a right to participate in the education, politic, economy and cultural life of
society (Catholic Charities, 2016). It is a fundamental demand of justice system and the
requirement for a human dignity that is assured for everyone in society to participate in the
community (Catholic Charities, 2016). Moreover, it is wrong for someone or group of people to
be excluded from participating social activities, treated unfairly or not be able to participate in
society (Catholic Charities, 2016). When every individual participates in society, it will flourish.

Stanford Prison Experiment Philip G Zimbardo
The Stanford Prison Experiment was created by Philip G. Zimbardo, a psychologist, and
professor who taught at Stanford. The experiment s goal was to study how easily one will adapt
to roles that are assigned to them. The study began with volunteers who were randomly assigned to
become either prisoners or guards. It didn t take long for the guards to harass the prisoners. On the
second day of the experiment, the prisoners started to rebel and test the guard s boundaries. In an
attempt to keep the prisoners in line, the guards started to use physical violence; which was against
the rules. The guards became more and more violent every day, the amount of abuse the guards
displayed was totally unexpected.
One benefit of the experiment was that it showed how easily one can adopt a new persona when
put into different situations and environments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A tactic used by the guards to emotionally abuse the prisoners was giving the inmates a number,
instead of calling them by name. The guards were dehumanizing the prisoners. Another example of
dehumanization is when the prisoner first arrived, they were stripped of their clothes and put into
dresses. The physical abuse the guards put the prisoners through is another downside of the
experiment. The guards made them do push ups and other physical activity as a form of
punishment. To make it harder, some had other prisoners on their back while doing the push ups.
I believe this experiment is useful for several reasons. The first reason is it a great example of how
easily people can conform to the roles that they are given. Another reason is that it didn t cause any
extensive emotional or physical suffering after the experiment. This experiment also teaches other
researchers what not to do. Despite the important findings, I do not think that any similar
experiments should happen again because of the abuse some students

Every teacher has their own unique teaching style which is based on their educational philosophy, their classroom s demographic, what subject area they teach, and the school s mission statement. Up until now, teachers are looking for a system that will engage students in the educational process and will develop the students critical thinking skills. Moreover, teachers want the classroom to be in order and in control, but they also want their students to appreciate the learningprocedure. These teaching styles can be divided into two approaches the teacher centered and learner centered. Traditional teaching styles use teacher centered approach. It includes a teacher that stands at the front and tells students step by step instructions. The teacher decides what is learned, when it is learned, how it is learned, and how learning is evaluated. In a nutshell, the teacher is an information giver and evaluator. The students are just there to learn through lessons and direct instructions. Their attention is mainly focused on passing tests, assessments, and evaluations. Through the years, many successful people have came from the traditional setting. The Lord of The Rings, a widely read trilogy of books adapted for the screen in a trilogy of popular movies, takes place in the Land of Middle Earth. In this suit, Mr. Palmer s grandfather and Mrs. Riggs father created a will where he bequeathed his wealth upon his death. Most of his wealth he left to Mr. Palmer and the rest he left to Mrs. Riggs and her sister, Mrs. Preston. At the time the case was brought to court, Palmer was in prison for murdering his grandfather. As a result of his actions, Mrs. Riggs and Mrs. Preston brought this case to court in order to annul the portions of the will that favored Mr. Palmer. He was already tried for murder and was punished sufficiently. Even, if you were to use the argument that there was some intention from Francis Palmer to change his will so Elmer wouldn t get what was promised in the current will, that intention is not enough without action to back it up and change the will. The laws of the state describing how a will may be altered state that Mere intention to revoke a will does not have the effect of revocation. The intention to revoke is necessary to constitute the effective revocation of a willНѕ But it must be demonstrated by one of the acts contemplated by the statute. Judge Gray s reasoning follows closely with Legal Positivism, which includes the following two principles; 1) a legal system is a closed logical system where legal decisions are logically deduced from predetermined legal rules, and 2) moral judgments cannot be defended in the same way that facts can be defended by rational argument, evidence or proof. As we can see, Gray does not concern himself with morals if they cannot be logically justified. He believes the legal decisions of this case should be one based off the laws that are written, not based on whether we have moral qualms about giving property to a man who murdered his grandfather to obtain that property. Unless there can be a logical reason for not giving him what he deserved even after he was properly punished, then according to legal positivism Mr. Palmer should get what was ... Perhaps we do this because they have incredible powers we wish we had as kids and as adults. Or maybe because they often save lives and in extreme cases, the world. If that is the case, why do we not consider and idolize real people such as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King J.R, or Bertrand Russell who through civil disobedienceshowed true heroism? The school uses an additive model of English Language to support both the student s home language and foster and support English language acquisition. The classrooms are staffed with teachers who speak the children s home language, who can apply some use of the home language within the classroom and providing hands on experiences for students. Additionally, to support students with disability, the school also partnered with United Community Services (UCS), a program that offers speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy to students. The school uses the evidence based Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC guidelines and the NY State Prekindergarten Common Core Standards. Franz Joseph Haydn s Symphony No. 94 Symphony When listening to Classical music I think of rich, precise, high quality, and pristine music that either gives you relaxing feeling or gives you that want to dance feeling. One of my favorite composers of this era was Franz Joseph Haydn and he incorporated both of these feelings in his arrangements. Franz Joseph Haydn was born in 1732 in Austria. He struggled early in life and worked as a freelance musician. He began his career singing soprano at Saint Stephen s Cathedral and later started giving keyboard lessons, playing in street bands, and singing or playing violin and organ at three different churches every Sunday (Wright, C. The genre of this musical composition is a symphony and it consists of a three movement minuet and trio. The piece has a stately dance feel to it with a very solid rhythm, nice melody, and a rich full sound. It is written in ternary form and the entire minuet trio minuet forms an ABA arrangement (Wright, C.M., 2014, p. 166). The divisions between sections of the piece are well indicated and recognized by a change of theme, instrumentation, and volume. I really liked the way the timpani helped accentuate the beat and help give the piece a driving tempo at times. The woodwinds and strings also flowed well together as if telling a story. Some of the things that stuck out to me and make this an enjoyable symphony were the rich full sound of the orchestra instruments along with the bouncy rhythm and tempo. While listening to the arrangement I could hardly sit still, the music just made me want to move with it. It gave me the mental image of a large stately ballroom with numerous dancers dancing about. • 13. Important Aspects Of A Functioning Classroom Through this past semester, we have heavily discussed the important aspects of a functioning classroom, from different theorists to helpful teaching techniques. We ve debated what it means to be a great teacher. There are quite a few flaws in our education system today, but I believe most of the theories we discussed could be accorporated much more in the classroom. John Dewey, Friedrich Froebel, Maria Montessori, and Lev Vygotsky all understood the way children think and the importance of imaginative play. They also understood that children need to be active in nature. Also, we have discussed different forms of learning, such as project based learning, and outdoor classrooms. In my opinion, the educationsystem should have minor changes that benefit the students more. Despite the various flaws, schools are extremely important for students especially on a social stand point. They can be around children their own age and interact in various scenarios. Socializing is important for children of all ages, it helps them develop listening skills, communication skills, how to share, how to work in groups, and compromise. Every interaction a child has is a learning experience. They learn what is right or wrong and how to communicate appropriately, social interaction plays a key role in cognitive development. Lev Vygotsky was a cognitive theorist who believed social interaction and imaginative play were critical in child development. Imaginative play is actually a complex process ... Further, the court emphasized the proper scope of the long established definition of public purposes, instructing that [t]he term public purpose is not to be narrowly construed. Despite these general propositions, the majority opinion made clear that the Court has declined to confine public purpose by judicial definition, leaving each case to be determined by its own peculiar circumstances... The dissent s argument was that if the Program is not delivering an education by North Carolina standards, then it is wrong to characterize it as a public purpose. The majority opinion leaned heavily on the inferential logic that education will always serve a public purpose, and, therefore, the Program obviously qualified as a public purpose because it claims to serve an educational goal. The dissent stressed that the majority missed a critical step in determining whether the Program could constitutionally qualify as a public purpose. Justice Hudson noted that, while students enrolled in private school may be receiving a fine education, in the eyes of their parents, if taxpayer money is spent on a private school education that does not prepare them to function in and to contribute to our state s society, that spending cannot be for public purposes only. ... The adaptive immune system evolved in early vertebrates and allows for a stronger immune response as well as immunological memory, where each pathogen is remembered by a signature antigen. The adaptive immune response is antigen specific and requires the recognition of specific non self antigens during a process called antigen presentation. Antigen specificity allows for the generation of responses that are tailored to specific pathogens or pathogen infected cells. The ability to mount these tailored responses is maintained in the body by memory cells. Should a pathogen infect the body more than once, these specific memory cells are used to quickly eliminate it. So basically killer T cells will identify antigens present on foreign cells. These antigens are not found in any of the cells inside our body. Therefore, T cells will identify them and kill them. C. What are lymphocytes and where are they produced? a. It expresses human dignity as a foundation for the common good in our society to flourish together as one (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). Therefore, this wiki page will explain and discuss each of nine CST. Dignity of the Human Person The principle of human dignity based on catholic social teaching is that every human being is the live image of a god himself (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council, 2016). therefore, every individual in our society is worth of respect as a member of the ... • 44. Stanford Prison Experiment Philip G Zimbardo The Stanford Prison Experiment was created by Philip G. Zimbardo, a psychologist, and professor who taught at Stanford. The experiment s goal was to study how easily one will adapt to roles that are assigned to them. The study began with volunteers who were randomly assigned to become either prisoners or guards. It didn t take long for the guards to harass the prisoners. On the second day of the experiment, the prisoners started to rebel and test the guard s boundaries. In an attempt to keep the prisoners in line, the guards started to use physical violence; which was against the rules. The guards became more and more violent every day, the amount of abuse the guards displayed was totally unexpected. One benefit of the experiment was that it showed how easily one can adopt a new persona when put into different situations and environments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A tactic used by the guards to emotionally abuse the prisoners was giving the inmates a number, instead of calling them by name. The guards were dehumanizing the prisoners. Another example of dehumanization is when the prisoner first arrived, they were stripped of their clothes and put into dresses. The physical abuse the guards put the prisoners through is another downside of the experiment. The guards made them do push ups and other physical activity as a form of punishment. To make it harder, some had other prisoners on their back while doing the push ups. I believe this experiment is useful for several reasons. The first reason is it a great example of how easily people can conform to the roles that they are given. Another reason is that it didn t cause any extensive emotional or physical suffering after the experiment. This experiment also teaches other researchers what not to do. Despite the important findings, I do not think that any similar experiments should happen again because of the abuse some students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
