The Dangers Of The Wave Of Robots
As I abscond through the bomb exploding, weapon filled battlefield trying to return to our message
receiver, located at one of our retreat base areas. One of our battle field coordinators had given me this
important message. The armour I had been equipped with weighed me down alot, but it was all for
good as it had saved my life numerous times in my career as being message carrier. A mass bomb
attack had just flown over our base, making the terrain and landscape uneven and harder for our
soldiers to be accurate when shooting against enemy wave robots and machinery. A lot of soldiers
wonder why the waves of enemies occur at random times of the day, even though we do get warnings
2 days in advance from our leader King Lysander. Waves are the ... Show more content on

Never did I come across an object even close to a communication device, until I lifted a rather heavy
black pillow accompanying a creamy white leather lounge I found a knock off iPad looking tablet.
I start to head down the marble stairs, being careful not to leave traces of my presence there, slip my
boots on and start to walk home, being careful not to look suspicious to any looking my way even
though it was very early hours of the day. Being a soldier and having to fight for the government, I
hardly get to see my wife and daughter so when I do it is a treat.
It has been a week now and we have not had one wave appear, I have still been investigating the tablet
device this whole time, testing every application and button on the device, I had discovered a
application on the device with a bunch of coding and coordinations on it, I didn t have the inner
bravery, nor the guts to see what would happen if I were to launch and use the app. As there has been
no waves of maniac robots I have not needed to work, making time available with my family, which is
a gift for me as the majority of soldiers have lost their family

The Importance Of The Natural Hoof Care Practitioner Of...
I predict that the natural hoof care practitioner of the future will be less of a trimmer, than a
diagnostician of healthy changes in the hoof and an expert at creating natural behavioral stimuli in the
track that serve the adaptation mechanism (Jackson). What I will be talking about in this research
paper is shoeing horses. Contemplating the workings of horse hooves, I found that a horse being shod
does not hurt the hoof like so many would argue because when a horse is working on hard ground the
wearing down of the hoof is greater than the hoof growth and protection prevents soreness. My main
points throughout this paper will be the history of horseshoes, different types of hooves, how natural
selection has been prevalent in Mustangs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sensitivity of horses hooves was minimized by the use of the iron horseshoe, which came into use
in Europe around 950. The horseshoe provided protection against hard surfaces and on soft ground
and allowed horses to dig in their hooves to pull loads (Oxford Encyclopedia 516). Not only was the
use of shoes documented in Europe, but it was also documented in Asia. The great advances made in
archaeology now make it manifest that shoeing was known to the Romans and the ancient Gauls...
Horse shoes have been discovered repeatedly in the camps and graves of ancient Gaul, and even in the
battle fields of these people. They have been found in numerous instances with Roman relics, such as
arms, brooches, lamps, coins, e., in France, Switzerland, and Belgium; and in this country many have
been discovered in excavations in London, in the streets of some of our towns at considerable depths,
in Roman camps, roads and villas, and in various other situations (The farmers magazine 18). From
my first point of the hooves being covered with plant material or hides, it lets me go off on a tangent.
When doing research on what shoes looked like in ancient times I came across many surprising
statements. For the longest time it was believed that we just started shoeing our horses in the 19th
century but through various archaeological findings over the years, historians have been able to
ascertain some

Through The Tunnel, By Doris Lessing
Two personality traits of the protagonist Jerry from the short story Through the tunnel, by Doris
Lessing are that he is immature but at the same time also determined. Jerry is immature because in the
story on page 3 paragraph 17 it says , They were leaving to get away from him. He cried openly, fists
in his eyes. There was no one to see him so he cried himself out. This shows that Jerry doesn t Know
how to deal with rejection and his only solution to it was to cry like an infant. Another reason why
Jerry is immature is he meets new children at the bay and starts to play with the others. He starts to

Religion Is A Form Of Government
Democracy is a form of government, where a constitution guarantees basic personal and political
rights, fair and free elections, and independent courts of law. (Democracy 2004). Religion and politics
have been long viewed as partners for many and yet some find the relationship a struggle. Religion
usually pertains to an individual or a community of like minded members in the private sector. An
example of such a body of individuals includes church or social organizations. As part of Western
civilization, Americans typically embraced the separation of church and state as they believe that
religion has no place in politics at all. Politics usually apply to the public sector where individuals
serve as members of a wider community such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How do they impact each other?
According to Wikipedia 2014, Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and
world views that relate humanity to an order of existence. It is also the most intensive and
comprehensive method of valuing that is experienced by humankind . Religion is often difficult to
identify or define because it overlaps on many different boundaries in human experience. This
complex phenomenon has led many theorists to attempt to form a cohesive definition, however, every
theory has its limitations thus making this task utterly impossible to complete. Religion can also
resolve matters on the private and public sector such as issues regarding life and death, love and sex,
authority and freedom. Although religious traditions often challenge each other, they also offer
individuals with a sense of security and direction. It can also dictate those who are in power versus
those who are not, and often provides validation for imbalances in social, economic, and political
power, as well as structure for advancement and revolutionary change.
According to Fairlax 2014, Politics is the art or science of government or governing, especially the
governing of a political entity, such as a nation, and the administration and control of its internal and
external affairs , the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to

The Influence Of Past American Women Writers
The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and Judith Sargent
Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the lives of their fellow gender with
the talents of their writing. Much of their writing became increasingly influential years after it was
written. Their literature allows today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the treatment of
women, understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading the vision of the
equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand up for herself against her
mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those of what her mother had laid out for her
(Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a poet, and founder of the nation s Battle Hymn of the
Republic , she was known for her activism of women s rights, abolition, and world peace (Showalter,
Ch. Julia Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first woman of American letters, speaking
for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter, Ch. Judith Sargent Murray ).
Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not only in America s historic past, but
inspiration leading to today and the future as well. These women are excellent examples to learn from
in taking ownership of their women s rights and the equalities we shall have, in our still unequal
world. Amy Tan was born in Oakland, California. Both of her parents were Chinese immigrants ( Amy

What Is The Potion In Romeo And Juliet
One of the scenes that was omitted from the play was when Juliet drinks the potion on the nurse
comes in. In the play she drinks the potion and the nurse and lady Capulet come in and it shows their
reaction and response to the situation and then she is taken to the vault which is where dead family
members rest. In the Romeo and Juliet Film by Baz Luhrmann, soon as Juliet drinks the potion a quick
flash back plays and then Juliet is rushed to hospital. Skipping the reaction scene entirely. Baz
Luhrmann did this because this scene wasn t very interesting for younger viewers and is not an
important scene for the storyline. In the original play there is no police force, there is a prince and

Narrative Narrative
I never would have guessed a simple trip home would turn into a life or death situation. It was the end
of summer in 2008; my mom, grandma, and I were coming home from our short vacation we take
every summer to Ames, Iowa while my brother and dad go to Alaska. The sun shimmered down on us
as we cruised down the various roads to arrive back home.
The traffic was frantic that day forcing our old, rusty, black avalanche to exceed the maximum speed
limit on Highway 13. We neared Central City, Iowa, approximately 20 minutes from our countryside
home while I quietly played on my mom s old blackberry phone. My mom mentioned previously that
it began to appear quite gloomy in the sky. I slowly rolled down the back window next to my seat. The
heavy, damp smell of a storm emerged into my nose like a frog approaching its prey. Ominous clouds
shifted back and forth in the sky when mom finally told me to check the weather radar on her phone
while she tuned the radio into a weather station. The radio signal only let out various pitches of static.
Before I could check the radar, a loud boom rumbled in front of me; my mom slammed on the brakes,
and my grandma began latching onto her arm rest. A massive oak tree lay in front of us on the road,
blocking all oncoming traffic. Somehow mom managed to swerve around the tree as the now
impending storm began to swirl around us. Within a matter of seconds, hail pounded our windshield,
rain blinded the outside world, and the wind whipped even faster,

Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks Research Paper
In society, everyone is attached and more focused on technology rather than the nature and wildlife of
planet earth. Some people might argue that the parks or green spaces produce too many greenhouse
gases which will pollute the cities. However, our cities already have a lot of pollution so if greenhouse
gases are added to the mix it won t be of any harm. People also argue that parks take up land space
that could be developed for retail and the use of natural resources. Parks actually help contribute to the
economy because it helps in the real estate market and ticketed events are held there which contributes
to the community s economy. Not only is the fresh air good for your body but walking around the park

Large amounts of the funds are needed to keep a lot of the national parks up and running. However,
the money is mostly being put towards the tourism side of the parks and not the upkeep. The parks
need to be properly maintained in order to preserve the natural beauty of the park itself. In the web
based article Top Ten Issues Facing National Parks by National Geographic it states that National
parks protect the historic buildings in which America s history was made...but some of these hallowed
edifices are crumbling...they re a big part of a $9.5 billion maintenance backlog that plagues the park
system. In other words, the parks have a lot of unresolved issues that need to be taken care of but
upkeep on the nature side needs to be taken care of as well. An example of this is that non native
species are being introduced to the parks. This is a difficult issue because no park has closed borders
so it is hard for the management to control every single animal that come and go from the park. The
national parks and recreation department is working on a variety of solutions for the issues

At each site, the client s often come up with a shared goal that everyone would like to work on.
Recently, at one of the groups, I talked about establishing healthy boundaries with the clients. As a
group, all of the clients decided to incorporate weekly guidelines for setting appropriate limits with
one another during their time together. I thought this was an excellent example of the clients coming
together to support one another while attending weekly sessions. Another recent example of shared
goals for the group was setting up a Halloween party at the drop at some of the drop in sites. Each
location required some individuals of the group to participate in tasks for the Halloween Parties. Each
person of the group must complete a task such as brining, food, drinks, party favors, or board games.
The ultimate goal for the teenagers was to plan and implement a party for the whole group to enjoy!
At my agency, I have begun working on my goals outlined by my learning agreement. One of my
goals is to develop programming for the adolescents at each location that I attend every week. The
programming that the agency has provided in the past has included educational topics, health
education, along with other related issues that pertain to the gay, lesbian and transgender community.
However, one of my goals is to increase programming topics so that the adolescents have more of a

God s Message Of Redemption For Mankind
The creation waits eagerly for the sons of God to be revealed; for the creation was made subject to
frustration not willingly, but because of the one who subjected it. But it was given a reliable hope that
it too would be set free from its bondage to decay and would enjoy the freedom accompanying the
glory that God s children will have. We know that until now, the whole creation has been groaning as
with the pains of childbirth; Romans 8:21 22
I ve heard various preachers say that animals cannot go to heaven because they do not have souls.
They further push this thought by pointing out that Jesus died only to save the sinful souls of human
beings. This reveals both a lack of familiarity with the Scriptures and a failure to understand God s
plan.
The Bible is God s message of redemption for mankind, not animal kind. So its pages only hint at His
intention toward animals. It s an easy matter to show that the ultimate destiny of created things,
including the animals, is included in God s eternal purpose and is linked to the redemption of sinful
mankind. Animals are in no need of redemption
While they are effected by the curse of man they are not fallen as man is. When God s judgment
comes down on mankind, animals suffer along with them for their sins. This can be seen not only in
the Flood story of Noah, but foremost in the story of God sending the ten plagues upon the Egyptians
to free the Israelite slaves.
The water was turned into blood and all the fish in the

Why Do Chlorine Remains In A Pool
Introduction:
I chose this project because I am a competitive swimmer and I have been swimming for the past ten
and a half years. I wanted to find out how much chlorine remains in a pool each day after chlorination.
I am interested to see how much residual chlorine is left and the range in which there appears skin
irritation and red eyes because I have experienced the red eyes and itchy skin due to over chlorination.
Chlorine is used in pools in either a gaseous or as sodium or calcium hypochlorite. The chlorine is
added to water to help prevent people from getting sick from disease producing microorganisms. The
chlorine that is added and reacts with the organic material and metals in the water is the chlorine
demand for the water as it will not be available for any disinfection that keeps people from getting
sick while in the pool. The residual test is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The free iodine is than titrated with the sodium thiosulphate solution.
I2 + 2 S2O32 2 I + S4O62
For every two moles of thiosulphate, one mole of iodine is needed so the amount of iodine mole
needed is half the amount of thiosulphate moles that are needed. Starch is used as the indicator for the
end point because the iodine and water is such a faint yellow color that the starch will combine with
any of the iodine that is still present and turn it a blue color and the end point for the titration is than
easier to notice.
I found the amount of amount of residual chlorine using the equation:
Residual chlorine = volume of Na2S2O3 x Concentration of Na2S2O3 x mass of 1 mol Cl x 1000
Volume of sample pool water
Adverse effects can occur if there is too much residual chlorine in water. The use of chlorine can
possibly cause carcinogenic compounds such as chloroform. There is still an ongoing debate if
chlorine is the best way to disinfect a

The War against Terror as War against the Constitution Jackson A. Niday, II Abstract: This essay
examines rhetorical dynamics in the 2004 US Supreme Court case Hamdi v. Rumsfeld. News reports
suggested the court split 8 1 or 6 3. However, case texts show substantive disagreements created a 4 2
2 1 split in the court. Moreover, while the justices on the bench split into four camps rather than two,
those camps were not defined along ideological lines. This essay argues that pragmatism, the legal
philosophy that held sway in the case, achieved practical expediency at the expense of judicial and
constitutional coherency. In the end, the court found a majority through neither persuasion nor
principled conviction but, rather, through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each of these philosophies has engendered rich schools of thought and many tomes have been devoted
to defining each position, but we can distill working definitions from their governing hermeneutic
principles. Textualism (often called strict constructivism) calls for an interpretation and application of
the law guided by taking the words of a source document literally with strict adherence to etymology
and historical precedent.1 Legal pragmatism, in contrast, adopts a hermeneutics stressing (1) the
importance of context; (2) the lack of foundations; (3) the instrumental nature of law; and (4) the
unavoidable presence of alternate perspectives. 2 In the Hamdi case, Justice O Connor s pragmatism
battled and bested Justice Scalia s textualism. That triumph, however, was a narrow victory, and a
victory riddled with dissonance. It was also a victory that evoked from Scalia one of the more scathing
jeremiads he has issued from the bench. In what follows, I shall analyze the argumentation of Hamdi
in terms of substance and style, and will look at the various opinions issued, along with a detailed
examination of Scalia s lamentation. A decidedly American philosophy, pragmatism seeks what works.
In that pursuit, its focus on the instrumental often privileges expediency over principle. For many
human endeavors, finding expedient resolutions simply

Stephen Hawking is a firm believer in the black hole and cosmology. Stephen Hawking has had a

more about the Black Hole. Evidence that shows indeed Stephen Hawking leaves an impact on the
scientific community and could lead other future scientists to discover more than what meets the eye.
Stephen Hawking and James Hartle have discovered that the universe has no physical boundaries, and
that with the combination of general theory of relativity and quantum mechanics, black holes can die.
That the vacuum of space is not empty but filled with pairs of particles in which helps the scientists
know more about the black hole. Hawking also thinks that the whole universe itself is a black hole that
could explode outward and turn into a black hole once again. Even though some people think Stephen
Hawking s black hole theories are pointless because we don t need to know these for daily basis.
These theories could lead to more discoveries in the future All these theories are making an impact on
society and helping scientists know more about the black hole and how it works and maybe answer

trying to show the public and the board, that there is a spread of wealth within the different NHS
hospitals and that one is not neglected. This is deffinately where their priorities should lie as they are
trying to sell the image that the public hospitals have the right equipment and people.
Performance measures for assessment of customer services
The assessment of customer services is one that can be measured in a number of different ways.
Firstly through the NHS ratings the length of time that someone has to wait in A E generally should be
4 hours or less Both hospitals were considered unsatisfactory. Customer
Services goes further than just the waiting time at A E, although it might be looked at as an important

Differences Between The Book And The Constant Gardener
The Constant Gardener The Constant Gardener, which is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen,
is not fiction. After watching the movie, if you search the title on the internet, you will know the
shocking fact that this is a real story. The Constant Gardener originated from the novel The Constant
Gardener written by John le Carré in 2001, based on a real life case in Kano, Nigeria, related to
medical experimentation in the 1990s. Therefore, both the novel and the movie are mainly depicting
such a careless, indiscrete medical experimentation, with a few changes such as a change of location
and change of the medicine s name. Taking off these superficial alterations, the difference between the
real case and The Constant Gardener including both novel and movie―is virtually none.
Back to the movie, we can see a low level British diplomat Justin Quayle is the main character in this
movie. One day, his wife Tessa was found dead, Justin realized Tessa kept from Justin her secret that
she investigated a suspicious drug trial in Kenya and tried to expose it. Because of her attempt to
uncover the malpractices of an influential and powerful pharmaceutical company, she and her

current scientists should know what the major challenges are in the field. Wildlife biologists struggle
to find a permanent job in general. There is a considerable amount of research projects that rely on the
government s funding (Wildlife Biologists Careers: Job Description Salary Info). Funding from the
government can be limited, which puts time constraints on projects. Often, people do not realize how
important biologists are to their environment and do not care to know the impact, they, as regular
citizens, have on their world. This, consequently, pushes research to the side when it comes to
funding. This career is not one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because donations tend to run out quickly and volunteers may only be able to work for short periods
of time before they need a permanent job, organizations such as WWF have a high turnover rate of
workers. Considering the government is not able to finance every biology project needed, donations
are essential and only come from people who are adequately informed about what biologists do for
their environment. Organizations, such as the World Wildlife Fund, rely on volunteers and donations
from people surrounding the research area. People must care about for the environment to help it;
bringing awareness to everyone will help funding and eventually create new and permanent jobs for
scientists in this occupation. Jane Goodall, a primatologist who has been studying primates, such as
apes and chimpanzees, for over fifty years, states, Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care
will we help (Denys 106). In other words, it is imperative that people be informed in order to help
biologists. The public s knowledge of their environment could help bring awareness to wildlife
organizations and government associations that help fund biologists. Overall, a properly educated
public can better understand what wildlife biologists do and citizens are more likely to help through
volunteering or donating to research projects. Although some say Along with the public being mindful

Describe The Chemical Process In Making Americium
Chemical process in making americium:
The most popular type of smoke alarm is an ionization chamber smoke alarm. These contain 0.28
micrograms of the radioactive isotope americium 241, in the form of americium dioxide. Americium
is a synthetic element, so it must be produced in a nuclear reactor. Americium is made from plutonium
241, yet this needs to also be made in a nuclear reactor. Uranium 238 in a nuclear reactor it is hit with
a neutron, which makes uranium 239. Uranium 239 has a half life of 23.5 minutes, the uranium goes
through beta decay becomes neptunium 239. This neptunium will then form plutonium 239 via beta
decay over two days, this is then bombarded with two neutrons to become plutonium 241. Plutonium
241 has a half life of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has become a social (as well as a government) expectation to have them installed in your home.
Smoke alarms save lives; without a smoke alarm you are 4 times more likely to die in the event of a
fire. The americium inside the alarm is an alpha and low energy gamma emitter. Alpha radiation can
be stopped by a piece of paper or a few centimetres of air, meaning you could stand under a raw
sample of americium and not be in any danger. Yet, gamma radiation has the wavelength near that of
an atomic nuclei (10 Pico meters) meaning that they penetrated far more easily. These rays are weak
enough not to do any harm, yet are the major factor to the radiation from a smoke alarm. It has
become a misconception that smoke alarms are a threat to health because of their radioactivity. The
radiation emitted from a smoke alarm annually is 9 50 nano sieverts, eating banana releases the
equivalent of 100 nano sieverts, the average background radiation in Australia is 2000000 nano
sieverts, to put how little radiation is absorbed from a smoke alarm. The real problem is only when
americium is internalised into the body, because it is an alpha emitter. It poses a threat to health
because even though the alpha particles themselves are harmless, the speeds they travel give them the
ability to break bonds and ionize atoms, thus causing cancer. When in the body 90% stays in you and
the rest is excreted, it goes to the liver, bones and ovaries or testicles where it has the possibility to
cause cancer or birth

How Broken Families Rob Children Of Their Chances For...
Imagine growing up in a poor community with an unstable family, would you be motivated to do well
in school? Conditions like non stable parenting, growing up in a poor community, and not having a
safe learning community all impact a student s education. These misfortunes lead to students not being
driven to graduate and dropping out of high school. A big contribution to the drop out rate is not
having a stable family. Students who do not have stable parenting at home can lead to students
dropping out. In the article How Broken Families Rob Children of Their Chances for Future
Prosperity it discusses broken families earn less and experience lower levels of educational
achievement. In 1950 the number of children living with broken families was 12 for every 100; 42
years later in 1992 the number grew to 58 for every 100 children born. A professor at the University of
Michigan did a study to find the average family income for one parent families compared to two
parent families. Her studies showed that the average income for one parent families is $25,300 and the
average income for two parent family income is $43,600. Students growing up in a stable and two
parent family have better chances of reaching income security as adults. A truly saddening fact is that
almost half of American families go through poverty after divorce. The poverty and divorce of the
adults leads to problems for the children. When children do not have a stable family, their parents

New Leader Integration Process Analysis
In the documentation phase of the New Leader Integration the consultant takes all the data obtained
from the interviews and he creates a document that will be the new leaders blue print for success
(Burroughs, 2011). The length and breadth of the document will differ based on the amount of
information contained within the document. The information will be given to the new leader before he
begins work and the document will have the designation of Confidential (Burroughs, 2011). This level
of security is used to ensure the privacy of all parties who provided information. In addition, only two
copies of the document will be printed, one for the new leader and one for the consultant to use in the
follow up step. The new leader will read the entire document taking particular interest in how the
organization views success. Debriefing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Role Of Normative And Non Normative. Normative
I find it hard to imagine what my life will become in the future. As people age, they move into
different social roles that provides them with multiple identities. These transitions that we go through
tend to be linked with age, in the sense that as a society we expect something called age norms which
refers to the idea that there are appropriate ages for making these various life course transitions. There
are two types of transitions, normative and non normative. Normative is when something happens that
is expected like starting to drive or having a high school graduation, where non normative is
unexpected such as death or winning the lottery. Throughout this paper I will focus on what I want my
future to look like, and I will look at what I can currently do to help make this happen. I will also look
at my past transitions in life to show what has led me to be the person that I am today. While I find it
hard to think about my future, I do know that I want to live a healthy, active and meaningful life until
the day that I die. While our life course can be unpredictable, we can still set goals that we want to
accomplish. I already know that my central sources of meaning will be my family and friends. When
you age, having interpersonal relationships like family and friends is key to happiness and having
meaning in life. Normality will also be something I will still want to be seen as a normal person, even
though I have aged a bit. They way that we perceive young and old is

With New Discoveries That Are Made Every Day, The Science
With new discoveries that are made every day, the science community in a broad sense has become
more complex. As scientists and researchers are publishing new sightings, it brings to light better
understandings of ourselves as an individual and as a society at large. This is same impression that
could be made for the field of Psychology. Compared to its early establishment, the schools of thought
have expanded tremendously. While each school has its own topic of focus, their ideals at times can
overlap with one another. When it comes to psychological disorders, the list of possible diagnoses has
exponentially increased from the original general categories. Likewise, as psychology as a practice

These patients rather cannot be diagnosed as schizophrenic, but possess schizophrenic like
symptomatology (Kendler, 1985). Hence, the patient may be portrayed as having a mild
Schizophrenia. In general, the prevalence of PSD is in about 3% of a general population (Hernandez,
2010) and is more prevalent in males than females (Harvard Health Publication, 2013). One major
aspect among patients is that they have some type of trouble maintaining relationships with others.
Historically, the DSM III criteria for PSD was established around the 1970 s by Spitzer, Endicott, and
Gibbon after investigation of the schizophrenic spectrum (Kendler, 1985). During this period, because
STPD was closely related to Schizophrenia it was also considered as Borderline Schizophrenia.
However, treatments for this conditions depends on what perspective used. For instance, within STPD
s early establishment, diagnosis focused as between the familial vs. clinical approaches. Familial
focused on symptoms that were present in nonpsychotic relatives of the schizophrenics while clinical
centered on how closed related the symptoms were to schizophrenia without the psychotic symptoms
(Kendler, 1985). Another point of view is to see where the symptoms fall into a three factor model.
Among the factors, the cognitive perceptual factor was correlated to symptoms of abstract thinking,
the interpersonal factor was associated with poor social relations, and disorganized factor was linked

The Possible Links Between Cellphone Uses and Tumors
1. How do cellphones work? These work by the signals which are transmitted to and can be received
from the base station (usually located close by) through RF wave. RF wave is a type of
electromagnetic wave with a frequency range of 300GHZ widely used in radio communication and in
applications such as heating. RF waves along with FM waves, microwaves, visible light and heat
come under non ionizing radiation. RF does not cause cancer. These waves are different from
radiations i.e. x rays, gamma rays and UV rays. These radiations can destroy the chemical bonds that
make up DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid). At higher levels the RF waves can raise the temperature of the
body. But the RF waves emitted by the cell phones are generally of lower energy level and hence it
does not affect body temperature. 2. How are people exposed to RF waves? RF waves require more
energy for long distance transmission. The energy at the transmitting antenna in cellphone will greater
than the energy received by the receiving antenna of the cellphone (loss of energy during long distance
transmission). When a customer communicates using cellphone which is in contact with their ear
(either left or right) the maximum energy at the transmitting antenna of the cellphone during
communication will be directly absorbed by that ear. The ear that is closest to the phone will absorb
more energy that the ear that farther away. It also depends on factors such as: 1. Amount of time the
cellphone is being used

known coffee shops in the world; Starbucks.
Firstly I m going to talk about its history. When first started it was called Pequod s coffee because
Pequod was the name the owner s first ship. But they soon settled on Starbucks. Starbucks was

probably be water. Yep you heard me right plain old, bottled water. Every other drink is horrible for
your health. But the second healthiest beverage there would be the tazo tea with 0 calories, 0g total
fats, 0g total carbohydrates, 0g sugar (I know that s a little surprising), and 0g or everything . But is
zero of everything good, I don t think so, because you need those macronutrients to give energy to
your body energy and you re supposed to have big quantities of macronutrients. The macronutrients
include: carbohydrates sugar/glucoses, and protein. So that s why the tazo tea is not the best option
because it doesn t help you. Now for the unhealthy options; let s take for example the famous vanilla

white chocolate mocha, highly fattening and 310 calories for again a tall. The first on my list is my

Transgender People Face Harmful Discrimination
His mother holds up another dress, remarking on how cute it is and handing it to him to try on. She
ignores the uncomfortable look on his face and tells him to hurry up. He sits in the dressing room in
silence, looking at himself in the mirror, the dress hanging on a hook beside him. He furrows his
brows, covers his chest with his arms, and stares at the face looking back at him. It doesn t look right,
he thinks, trying not to cry. All his life he had been called she and girl and it never felt right. No one
told him it was okay to feel this way when he brought it up, instead yelling at him, telling him he was
just confused. It made him sick, pretending to be a girl, but no one listened or cared. Due to the many
misconceptions about them, transgender people face harmful discrimination, whether being told their
feelings are invalid, that there is no such thing, or being killed for who they are. Identifying as a
gender other than the one you are assigned at birth is seen as unnatural in a world ruled by a rigid
gender binary, so understanding transgender people s experiences is necessary for a safe life for them.
Some protections are already available to transgender people, though paltry: Only 15 [states] and the
District of Columbia have laws prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity/expression (

Desire May Lead To Destruction In A Streetcar Named Desire
Desire May Lead to Destruction In the play Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows
Blanche as a symbol of a Southern lady, the pinnacle of a civilization. In the forties, upper class
southern women s expectations were based on a Victorian model of a woman. The perception was that
women did not express their sexuality and wore clothing that did not expose any body parts. Also,
women did not have many roles except for a housewife, and two appropriate jobs as a teacher or a
nurse. Blanche is an English teacher from a Mississippi. She was raised in a wealthy family and got a
great education. At sixteen years old, she fell deeply in love with a boy named Allan Gray (Williams
1857). Their marriage served as different grounds for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right away, he told his wife and Mitch about it. While Blanche was taking a bath she was singing, But
it wouldn t be make believe if you believe in me ( Williams 1861). Blanche knows that she lied to
Mitch and kept the truth from her sister. Thus, the lyrics she was singing show that she lives in her
world of illusions. That day, she was expecting Mitch to come over to celebrate her birthday.
However, he did not show up. At a table, Stanley gave Blanche a ticket back to Laurel as a gift,
knowing that she can not go back there. Stella was upset about it because she knew that it will ruin her
tender and trusting sister (Williams 1865). According to Encyclopedia Britannica, psychotic behavior
can come and go as a result of various influences. The effects of some drugs can cause psychotic
episodes, or a traumatic situation that affects a person s psychological well being might trigger the
episode of neurosis ( Neurosis ). Blanche feels like her future is slipping away from her and becomes
highly neurotic. In her head, she hears the same polka tune, the Varsouviana , (after which Allen shot
himself) and she started to drink to escape the reality (Williams 1866). The Same night when Mitch
came to confront her, she admits to him about intimacies and school expulsion. When he said that she
told him all lies, in return she said, Never inside, I didn t lie in my heart and I don t want realism. I
want magic! (Williams 1869). Maybe in her mind she was still married to Allen. At the very last, it
gives Blanche a credit for her honesty. Nothing in the play justifies the condemnation of her. Yet,
nothing justifies her innocence either after her husband s death (Thomieres

The Physician-Patient Relationship
The Physician Patient Relationship

Abstract
Sexual contact that occurs concurrent with the patient physician relationship is considered to be sexual
misconduct. The Hippocratic Oath prohibits such relationships. The Oath is deeply rooted in first do
no harm. By violating beyond the boundaries in a patient physician relationship it cause harm to the
patient.
Boundaries: The limits of appropriate behavior by a professional toward his/her client.
Transference: Of which a patient is usually unaware and/lacking insight into its significance.
Undue Influence: A judicially created defense to transactions that have been imposed upon weak and
vulnerable persons that allows the transactions to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patients often don t know they have been violated usually until after interactions between patient and
physician either fail or don t work out in favor of the patient.
Sexual Misconduct Scenario:
I ve been involved with my physician for a couple of months now. There are a lot of factors which
make the relationship wrong mostly on his side: a huge age gap, his marriage amp; family, the fact
that he s a doctor. He also knows my father, who is a fellow doctor, and the relationship started right
when I practically committed suicide. It might be a stupid question, but did he take advantage? I am
fully in my right mind and did not feel abused in any way, but I suppose psychology would show that
there must be some part of me that was taken advantage of. We started the relationship and after a few
days, it dwindled. Now I feel abandoned and used.
The fact that the patient noted that she was fully in her right mind brings into play informed consent.
Can a patient truly give consent to a sexual relationship with their physician? Considering undue
influence a patient can t soundly give consent to having sexual intercourse with a doctor. They lack the
knowledge due to transference. Next, non maleficence and beneficence, the Hippocratic Oath teaches,
do no harm. There is a great risk to do potential harm to a patient especially by entering into a sexual
relationship with them. Much of

Allelopathy Affects Germination of Radish Seeds Essay

Allelopathy is the beneficial or harmful effects that one plant has on another plant by the release of
chemicals. Allelopathy studies the interactions among plants, fungi, algae and bacteria with the
organisms living in a certain ecosystem, interactions that are mediated by the secondary metabolites

second measurement was to measure the seedling lengths.
Results All five groups recorded the outcomes that they established. For our bench, we found that nine
raddish seeds in the control dish, zero raddish seeds in the eucalyptus dish, and four radish seeds in the
lemon dish germinated and sprouted. Our bench also found that the average seed length for the control
was thirty one millimeters, for the Eucalyptus was zero. and for the Lemon was eight and a half.

What Are The Potential Barriers To Equality And Inclusion
1.2 Analyse the potential effects of barriers to equality and inclusion in own area of responsibility
Due to the amount of practices that can be sourced to implement into the working environment there
are a number of barriers that can occur, these can be put into categories:
Personal
These barriers relate to individuals having differing personalities, if someone has lack of self esteem
or poor interpersonal interactions and communication it can affect the way they treat others. They may
be unaware of how to support someone with needs that are new to them or struggle to identify
resources needed to support a client. If staff are unable to provide information to the residents or carry
out tasks they may need additional training to gather greater knowledge on equality, diversity and
inclusion; when staff are unable to acknowledge differences it can mean that individuals are
discriminated against unintentionally. This would then have an impact on relationships and rapport
built between staff and clients and discourage the residents to work with the staff if they believe they
are not being understood or their needs are not being met, this can have further impact on their mental
health and wellbeing, therefore it is crucial that staff and management work alongside residents and
their families or friends to ensure that their voice is heard especially when considering person centred
care, as many vulnerable adults may not have the capacity to challenge discrimination.

Shay s Rebellion By Leonard L. Richards Chapter Summary
Stated in the preface, Leonard L. Richards had heard the standard story of Shays s Rebellion time and
time again. While finding a last minute book for his class, he discovered in a footnote that the
Massachusetts Archives had the names of the Shaysites, not just the names of the leaders, but some
four thousand names. With most rebellions, finding out who participated is difficult, making this
unusual. Again by accident, Richards learned that the university library had the pertinent state archives
on microfilm. After working through the bad handwriting, Richards found out that the standard story
he was taught made little sense. I believe that in wanting to tell the story right, Richards did more
research and it led to his writing of this book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the top twenty percent of taxpayers. Also, more supporters of the state goverment were sued and
appeared in court for debts whereas fewer insurgents had. For example, in 1785 and 1786 only ninety

Essay on The Enduring Loyalty, Love, and Compassion of...
Imagine leaving your wealth, home, family, and even country behind for twenty years. While away,
people will inevitably attempt to steal your possessions, seduce your spouse, and act as though you
will never return. Most likely, more people will try to harm your estate than those who will continue
working and behaving in an honest manner. This notion holds true in Homer s epic poem, The
Odyssey. While Odysseus wages war and struggles to return to Ithaka , a multitude of suitors court his
wife and live at the cost of his possessions. On the other hand, a few people like Eumaios remain
steadfast to the truth and work to maintain Odysseus estate and possessions. Eumaios, Odysseus

Eumaios feels the pain and hardship that Laërtês endures, as he feels that the distressed Laërtês needs

In addition to being empathetic throughout the poem, Eumaios loves those who need it most:
Odysseus, Telémakhos, and the swine entrusted to him. When everyone else had finished dinner and
went to bed for the evening, Eumaios took a sharpened lance, and went to rest / under a hollow rock
where swine were sleeping (14.629 30). Homer uses this as an opportunity to show that Eumaios truly
treasured his swine; instead of sleeping like the others, he ventures out into the cold to watch over the
vulnerable swine. Later, when Telémakhos returns from searching for Odysseus, it is remarked that
Eumaios kissed the young man s head, his shining eyes / and both hands, while his own tears brimmed
and fell (16.21 2). In Odysseus absence, Eumaios essentially assumes the paternal role in Telémakhos
life, and Eumaios was ecstatic to see that his son had returned safely to Ithaka and avoided the
murderous suitors. Another emotional scene takes place when Odysseus reveals himself to the faithful
swineherd and cowherd. When Eumaios hears the news, he puts his arms around the old soldier,
weeping, / kissing his head and shoulders (21.251 2). Eumaios beams with excitement and joy when

three important value show Beowulf s appearance as a great warrior.
First, Log is an important value of Beowulf s culture, because his father Edgetho carried Lof when he

Third, Wyrd is an important value of Beowulf s culture because, in the poem Beowulf was fated to kill
the monsters who appeared in his world and to protect the people of Geats from terrorize or running
into danger. In line 110 115, The strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in
this world, heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly he commanded a boat fitted out,
proclaiming that he d go to that famous king . The quote shows that what Beowulf had heard was
meant for him to go and save the people of Geats and the kingdom. As a result of line 791 792
Beowulf s death, Beowulf and the young Wiglaf killed the dragon, but the old king is fatally wound.
The second quote also shows that it was fated for the dragon to poison Beowulf leaving him fatally
wounded. To sum it up, Beowulf fate leads him successfully, but ended his life with a legacy to carry
on.
In conclusion of the poem of Beowulf, Lof, Comitatus and Wyrd are the three important value to

Characteristics Of Femininity In British Literature
According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning the
proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth century
(610). Formally, the Victorian Era followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from 1837 to 1901,
but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the Victorian Era
were present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived sixty years past its
recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea of femininity was still
being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. Women in the Victorian Era and in
1950s and 1960s America experienced similar oppressions, suppressions, questionings of worth and
intelligence, and similar legal restrictions.
American female authors such as Sylvia Plath and Adrienne Rich called on their dexterous writing
abilities to convey their feelings of displeasure in regards to women s treatment in the 1950s and
1960s. In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood is a young woman of 1950s America, but she
has thoughts, opinions, and feelings that do not align with those of her society. Similarly, Adrienne
Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers features a woman whose society has found its way into her
personal life and her home. Both women cannot escape the Victorian worlds in which they live. Esther
attempts to reject it and fight against it, while

  • 2. The Dangers Of The Wave Of Robots As I abscond through the bomb exploding, weapon filled battlefield trying to return to our message receiver, located at one of our retreat base areas. One of our battle field coordinators had given me this important message. The armour I had been equipped with weighed me down alot, but it was all for good as it had saved my life numerous times in my career as being message carrier. A mass bomb attack had just flown over our base, making the terrain and landscape uneven and harder for our soldiers to be accurate when shooting against enemy wave robots and machinery. A lot of soldiers wonder why the waves of enemies occur at random times of the day, even though we do get warnings 2 days in advance from our leader King Lysander. Waves are the ... Never did I come across an object even close to a communication device, until I lifted a rather heavy black pillow accompanying a creamy white leather lounge I found a knock off iPad looking tablet. Being a soldier and having to fight for the government, I hardly get to see my wife and daughter so when I do it is a treat. It has been a week now and we have not had one wave appear, I have still been investigating the tablet device this whole time, testing every application and button on the device, I had discovered a application on the device with a bunch of coding and coordinations on it, I didn t have the inner bravery, nor the guts to see what would happen if I were to launch and use the app. As there has been no waves of maniac robots I have not needed to work, making time available with my family, which is a gift for me as the majority of soldiers have lost their family ... I predict that the natural hoof care practitioner of the future will be less of a trimmer, than a diagnostician of healthy changes in the hoof and an expert at creating natural behavioral stimuli in the track that serve the adaptation mechanism (Jackson). What I will be talking about in this research paper is shoeing horses. Contemplating the workings of horse hooves, I found that a horse being shod does not hurt the hoof like so many would argue because when a horse is working on hard ground the wearing down of the hoof is greater than the hoof growth and protection prevents soreness. My main points throughout this paper will be the history of horseshoes, different types of hooves, how natural selection has been prevalent in Mustangs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sensitivity of horses hooves was minimized by the use of the iron horseshoe, which came into use in Europe around 950. The horseshoe provided protection against hard surfaces and on soft ground and allowed horses to dig in their hooves to pull loads (Oxford Encyclopedia 516). Not only was the use of shoes documented in Europe, but it was also documented in Asia. The great advances made in archaeology now make it manifest that shoeing was known to the Romans and the ancient Gauls... Horse shoes have been discovered repeatedly in the camps and graves of ancient Gaul, and even in the battle fields of these people. They have been found in numerous instances with Roman relics, such as arms, brooches, lamps, coins, e., in France, Switzerland, and Belgium; and in this country many have been discovered in excavations in London, in the streets of some of our towns at considerable depths, in Roman camps, roads and villas, and in various other situations (The farmers magazine 18). From my first point of the hooves being covered with plant material or hides, it lets me go off on a tangent. When doing research on what shoes looked like in ancient times I came across many surprising statements. For the longest time it was believed that we just started shoeing our horses in the 19th century but through various archaeological findings over the years, historians have been able to ascertain some ... Religion usually pertains to an individual or a community of like minded members in the private sector. An example of such a body of individuals includes church or social organizations. According to Wikipedia 2014, Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence. It is also the most intensive and comprehensive method of valuing that is experienced by humankind . Religion is often difficult to identify or define because it overlaps on many different boundaries in human experience. This complex phenomenon has led many theorists to attempt to form a cohesive definition, however, every theory has its limitations thus making this task utterly impossible to complete. Religion can also resolve matters on the private and public sector such as issues regarding life and death, love and sex, authority and freedom. • 8. The Influence Of Past American Women Writers The Influence of Past American Women Writers Amy Tan, Julia Ward Howe, and Judith Sargent Murray are some of the noble women whom have helped shape the lives of their fellow gender with the talents of their writing. Much of their writing became increasingly influential years after it was written. Their literature allows today s modern readers to reflect on the humanity and the treatment of women, understand history s past, and use it as an example to continue spreading the vision of the equality of women today. Tan was known for her willingness to stand up for herself against her mother, in pursuits to find her own dreams versus those of what her mother had laid out for her (Showalter, Ch. Amy Tan ). Howe was a poet, and founder of the nation s Battle Hymn of the Republic , she was known for her activism of women s rights, abolition, and world peace (Showalter, Ch. Julia Ward Howe ). Lastly, Murray was known as the first woman of American letters, speaking for women s rights after the American Revolutionary War (Showalter, Ch. Judith Sargent Murray ). Tan, Howe, and Murray have proved to be influential not only in America s historic past, but inspiration leading to today and the future as well. • 12. Narrative Narrative I never would have guessed a simple trip home would turn into a life or death situation. It was the end of summer in 2008; my mom, grandma, and I were coming home from our short vacation we take every summer to Ames, Iowa while my brother and dad go to Alaska. The sun shimmered down on us as we cruised down the various roads to arrive back home. The traffic was frantic that day forcing our old, rusty, black avalanche to exceed the maximum speed limit on Highway 13. We neared Central City, Iowa, approximately 20 minutes from our countryside home while I quietly played on my mom s old blackberry phone. My mom mentioned previously that it began to appear quite gloomy in the sky. I slowly rolled down the back window next to my seat. The heavy, damp smell of a storm emerged into my nose like a frog approaching its prey. Ominous clouds shifted back and forth in the sky when mom finally told me to check the weather radar on her phone while she tuned the radio into a weather station. The radio signal only let out various pitches of static. Before I could check the radar, a loud boom rumbled in front of me; my mom slammed on the brakes, and my grandma began latching onto her arm rest. A massive oak tree lay in front of us on the road, blocking all oncoming traffic. Somehow mom managed to swerve around the tree as the now impending storm began to swirl around us. Some people might argue that the parks or green spaces produce too many greenhouse gases which will pollute the cities. However, our cities already have a lot of pollution so if greenhouse gases are added to the mix it won t be of any harm. People also argue that parks take up land space that could be developed for retail and the use of natural resources. • 16. God s Message Of Redemption For Mankind The creation waits eagerly for the sons of God to be revealed; for the creation was made subject to frustration not willingly, but because of the one who subjected it. But it was given a reliable hope that it too would be set free from its bondage to decay and would enjoy the freedom accompanying the glory that God s children will have. We know that until now, the whole creation has been groaning as with the pains of childbirth; Romans 8:21 22 I ve heard various preachers say that animals cannot go to heaven because they do not have souls. They further push this thought by pointing out that Jesus died only to save the sinful souls of human beings. This reveals both a lack of familiarity with the Scriptures and a failure to understand God s plan. The Bible is God s message of redemption for mankind, not animal kind. So its pages only hint at His intention toward animals. It s an easy matter to show that the ultimate destiny of created things, including the animals, is included in God s eternal purpose and is linked to the redemption of sinful mankind. Animals are in no need of redemption While they are effected by the curse of man they are not fallen as man is. When God s judgment comes down on mankind, animals suffer along with them for their sins. This can be seen not only in the Flood story of Noah, but foremost in the story of God sending the ten plagues upon the Egyptians to free the Israelite slaves. Chlorine is used in pools in either a gaseous or as sodium or calcium hypochlorite. The chlorine is added to water to help prevent people from getting sick from disease producing microorganisms. Moreover, while the justices on the bench split into four camps rather than two, those camps were not defined along ideological lines. Textualism (often called strict constructivism) calls for an interpretation and application of the law guided by taking the words of a source document literally with strict adherence to etymology and historical precedent.1 Legal pragmatism, in contrast, adopts a hermeneutics stressing (1) the importance of context; (2) the lack of foundations; (3) the instrumental nature of law; and (4) the unavoidable presence of alternate perspectives. 2 In the Hamdi case, Justice O Connor s pragmatism battled and bested Justice Scalia s textualism. That triumph, however, was a narrow victory, and a victory riddled with dissonance. It was also a victory that evoked from Scalia one of the more scathing jeremiads he has issued from the bench. In what follows, I shall analyze the argumentation of Hamdi in terms of substance and style, and will look at the various opinions issued, along with a detailed examination of Scalia s lamentation. After watching the movie, if you search the title on the internet, you will know the shocking fact that this is a real story. The Constant Gardener originated from the novel The Constant Gardener written by John le Carré in 2001, based on a real life case in Kano, Nigeria, related to medical experimentation in the 1990s. Therefore, both the novel and the movie are mainly depicting such a careless, indiscrete medical experimentation, with a few changes such as a change of location and change of the medicine s name. Alpha radiation can be stopped by a piece of paper or a few centimetres of air, meaning you could stand under a raw sample of americium and not be in any danger. Yet, gamma radiation has the wavelength near that of an atomic nuclei (10 Pico meters) meaning that they penetrated far more easily. These rays are weak enough not to do any harm, yet are the major factor to the radiation from a smoke alarm. It has become a misconception that smoke alarms are a threat to health because of their radioactivity. The real problem is only when americium is internalised into the body, because it is an alpha emitter. It poses a threat to health because even though the alpha particles themselves are harmless, the speeds they travel give them the ability to break bonds and ionize atoms, thus causing cancer. As people age, they move into different social roles that provides them with multiple identities. These transitions that we go through tend to be linked with age, in the sense that as a society we expect something called age norms which refers to the idea that there are appropriate ages for making these various life course transitions. There are two types of transitions, normative and non normative. Normative is when something happens that is expected like starting to drive or having a high school graduation, where non normative is unexpected such as death or winning the lottery. Throughout this paper I will focus on what I want my future to look like, and I will look at what I can currently do to help make this happen. These work by the signals which are transmitted to and can be received from the base station (usually located close by) through RF wave. RF wave is a type of electromagnetic wave with a frequency range of 300GHZ widely used in radio communication and in applications such as heating. RF waves along with FM waves, microwaves, visible light and heat come under non ionizing radiation. RF does not cause cancer. These waves are different from radiations i.e. x rays, gamma rays and UV rays. These radiations can destroy the chemical bonds that make up DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid). At higher levels the RF waves can raise the temperature of the body. But the RF waves emitted by the cell phones are generally of lower energy level and hence it does not affect body temperature. 2. How are people exposed to RF waves? RF waves require more energy for long distance transmission. The energy at the transmitting antenna in cellphone will greater than the energy received by the receiving antenna of the cellphone (loss of energy during long distance transmission). When a customer communicates using cellphone which is in contact with their ear (either left or right) the maximum energy at the transmitting antenna of the cellphone during communication will be directly absorbed by that ear. But is zero of everything good, I don t think so, because you need those macronutrients to give energy to your body energy and you re supposed to have big quantities of macronutrients. The macronutrients include: carbohydrates sugar/glucoses, and protein. So that s why the tazo tea is not the best option because it doesn t help you. She ignores the uncomfortable look on his face and tells him to hurry up. He sits in the dressing room in silence, looking at himself in the mirror, the dress hanging on a hook beside him. He furrows his brows, covers his chest with his arms, and stares at the face looking back at him. It doesn t look right, he thinks, trying not to cry. All his life he had been called she and girl and it never felt right. No one told him it was okay to feel this way when he brought it up, instead yelling at him, telling him he was just confused. It made him sick, pretending to be a girl, but no one listened or cared. Due to the many misconceptions about them, transgender people face harmful discrimination, whether being told their feelings are invalid, that there is no such thing, or being killed for who they are. Identifying as a gender other than the one you are assigned at birth is seen as unnatural in a world ruled by a rigid gender binary, so understanding transgender people s experiences is necessary for a safe life for them. Some protections are already available to transgender people, though paltry: Only 15 [states] and the District of Columbia have laws prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity/expression ( Knowledge Center ). Desire May Lead To Destruction In A Streetcar Named Desire Desire May Lead to Destruction In the play Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows Blanche as a symbol of a Southern lady, the pinnacle of a civilization. In the forties, upper class southern women s expectations were based on a Victorian model of a woman. The perception was that women did not express their sexuality and wore clothing that did not expose any body parts. Also, women did not have many roles except for a housewife, and two appropriate jobs as a teacher or a nurse. Blanche is an English teacher from a Mississippi. At a table, Stanley gave Blanche a ticket back to Laurel as a gift, knowing that she can not go back there. Stella was upset about it because she knew that it will ruin her tender and trusting sister (Williams 1865). The effects of some drugs can cause psychotic episodes, or a traumatic situation that affects a person s psychological well being might trigger the episode of neurosis ( Neurosis ). When he said that she told him all lies, in return she said, Never inside, I didn t lie in my heart and I don t want realism. I want magic! (Williams 1869). • 35. What Are The Potential Barriers To Equality And Inclusion 1.2 Analyse the potential effects of barriers to equality and inclusion in own area of responsibility Due to the amount of practices that can be sourced to implement into the working environment there are a number of barriers that can occur, these can be put into categories: Personal These barriers relate to individuals having differing personalities, if someone has lack of self esteem or poor interpersonal interactions and communication it can affect the way they treat others. They may be unaware of how to support someone with needs that are new to them or struggle to identify resources needed to support a client. If staff are unable to provide information to the residents or carry out tasks they may need additional training to gather greater knowledge on equality, diversity and inclusion; when staff are unable to acknowledge differences it can mean that individuals are discriminated against unintentionally. This would then have an impact on relationships and rapport built between staff and clients and discourage the residents to work with the staff if they believe they are not being understood or their needs are not being met, this can have further impact on their mental health and wellbeing, therefore it is crucial that staff and management work alongside residents and their families or friends to ensure that their voice is heard especially when considering person centred care, as many vulnerable adults may not have the capacity to challenge discrimination. ... • 36. Shay s Rebellion By Leonard L. Richards Chapter Summary Stated in the preface, Leonard L. Richards had heard the standard story of Shays s Rebellion time and time again. While finding a last minute book for his class, he discovered in a footnote that the Massachusetts Archives had the names of the Shaysites, not just the names of the leaders, but some four thousand names. With most rebellions, finding out who participated is difficult, making this unusual. Again by accident, Richards learned that the university library had the pertinent state archives on microfilm. • 38. Essay on The Enduring Loyalty, Love, and Compassion of... Imagine leaving your wealth, home, family, and even country behind for twenty years. While away, people will inevitably attempt to steal your possessions, seduce your spouse, and act as though you will never return. Most likely, more people will try to harm your estate than those who will continue working and behaving in an honest manner. This notion holds true in Homer s epic poem, The Odyssey. While Odysseus wages war and struggles to return to Ithaka , a multitude of suitors court his wife and live at the cost of his possessions. When everyone else had finished dinner and went to bed for the evening, Eumaios took a sharpened lance, and went to rest / under a hollow rock where swine were sleeping (14.629 30). Homer uses this as an opportunity to show that Eumaios truly treasured his swine; instead of sleeping like the others, he ventures out into the cold to watch over the vulnerable swine. Later, when Telémakhos returns from searching for Odysseus, it is remarked that Eumaios kissed the young man s head, his shining eyes / and both hands, while his own tears brimmed and fell (16.21 2). In Odysseus absence, Eumaios essentially assumes the paternal role in Telémakhos life, and Eumaios was ecstatic to see that his son had returned safely to Ithaka and avoided the murderous suitors. Another emotional scene takes place when Odysseus reveals himself to the faithful swineherd and cowherd. • 41. Characteristics Of Femininity In British Literature According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning the proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth century (610). Formally, the Victorian Era followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from 1837 to 1901, but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the Victorian Era were present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived sixty years past its recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea of femininity was still being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. Women in the Victorian Era and in 1950s and 1960s America experienced similar oppressions, suppressions, questionings of worth and intelligence, and similar legal restrictions. American female authors such as Sylvia Plath and Adrienne Rich called on their dexterous writing abilities to convey their feelings of displeasure in regards to women s treatment in the 1950s and 1960s.
