Differences Between SCM-And Control Trials
Our meta analysis revealed that premotor reaction times are indeed faster in SCM+ than in SCM trials.
The estimated magnitude of this effect across the studies may be long enough to entertain the
possibility that motor programs are triggered via a pathway that bypasses some cortical areas of the
brain [1, 23], but not fast enough to completely rule out cortical involvement [11]. Although, the meta
analysis showed that the effect associated with SCM activity is robust across studies, the heterogeneity
test approached significance and depended on the correlation coefficient chosen for the studies for
which data was not available: an increase in the correlation coefficient from 0.5 to 0.56 resulted in a

[25, 26]). In contrast, although premotor RTs in response to loud acoustic stimuli ( 114 dBa) are
somewhat heterogeneous, differences in premotor RT as a function of foreperiod variability are clearly
mitigated, showing similar average estimates and overlapping confidence intervals for the subgroups
(see Figure 4). Why are responses initiated earlier when SCM activity is detected? Maslovat et al. [10]
proposed that the detection of SCM activity indicates that a more direct neural circuit, common with
the startle reflex, was responsible for involuntarily triggering the prepared response. Thus, when
responses occur without SCM activity (SCM ), the longer typical neural circuit involving the auditory
cortex would trigger the motor response. This model would explain why responses are faster when
SCM activity is observed. Interestingly, the StartReact effect can still be observed when the startle
reflex is abolished due to the presentation of a less intense stimulus before the go signal (pre pulse
inhibition or PPI)[16]. This is counterintuitive because it suggests that the more direct neural circuit is
still activated when the transient activation of the midbrain nuclei by PPI stimulus exerts long lasting
inhibition of the giant neurons of the caudal pontine reticular nucleus [34]. Alternatively, we have
suggested that the apparent correlation between SCM activity and premotor RT could be a result of
variations in the build up of

The World Mental Health Organization
The World Mental Health Organization (WHO) define mental health as A state of well being in which
every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work
productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. There are
many factors that go into what categorizes a person as at risk . According to the National Institute for
Mental Health, an at risk person is one that a person that has demonstrated or expressed the thought of
self harm or suicide. An at risk person may have a current diagnosed mental illness or one that has
gone undiagnosed. Some of these diagnoses include, but are not limited to, depression, schizophrenia,

About nineteen percent of young people contemplate or attempt suicide each year. So how do these
statistics matter to you? Think about it like this, according to the center for disease control, (CDC),
every 12 minutes, a person will die because of suicide attempt. That is roughly five deaths every hour.
However, you do not hear about suicide like I have so bluntly put it to you. We see suicide on the
news and social media and it is written so positively. When Robin William s died of suicide in 2014
the media started the phrase Genie you are free , but could this quote be potentially glorifying suicide
in a way that changes society s perception on suicide. Throughout the years, media has continually
grown and has had a huge impact on people of all ages. According to the authors of The Impact of
Social Media on Children, Adolescents, and Families , social media is both a blessing and a curse,
social media encourages creativity, connection between peers, and helping shape ones individuality.
However it also can lead to Facebook depression which is depression that develops when preteens and
teens spend a great deal of time on social media sites, such as Facebook, and then begin to exhibit
classic symptoms of depression. (O Keeffe and Clarke Pearson). O Keeffe and Clarke Pearson also

The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections

The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections
Studies have continued to prove hand hygiene to be the most effective technique for eliminating
nosocomial infections. Treatment facilities are experiencing multidrug resistant organisms at an all
time high due to a lack of proper infection prevention protocol. Nosocomial infections are the most
common complication that can arise during a hospital stay (Insert citation). A majority of developing
countries are facing multidrug resistant organisms caused by the lack of infection prevention protocol
and a large amount of pressure to provide health care in poor living and treatment conditions. Over use
of antibiotic treatment is part of the reason large numbers of multidrug resistant organisms are
appearing in the healthcare environment. Implementing more stringent infection prevention protocol,
assessing health care facilities use of proper infection control, and critically analyzing use of
antibiotics will aid in elimination of nosocomial infections and decrease the average hospital stay.
According to the evidence based clinical practice guidelines on the guidline.gov website, there are
three standard principles of hand hygiene. The first is using a hand washing technique with
decontamination agents, such as soaps or

Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On...
Integrative Approach to Counseling
Key Concepts
The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability to affect their life
through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most people s unhappiness stems from the
lack of meaningful relationships, and most relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the
choices we make (Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well
being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships.
Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an individual the
opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a deterministic view of life, but are
instead given license to create the life they wish to have, unencumbered by the weight of societal,
cultural, or familial expectations (Corey, 2013).
Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant Christianity: people are
free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and all choices have an outcome. That
outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative (damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in
the Bible, the outcome of one s life rests in their choices.
Counselor s role
In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing role in the
relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives (Corey, 2013).

Pork was the popular meat in Kansas and some vegetables are available from the garden that can be
stored in a dugout cellar for winter use, however they were no fruit growing since there were no fruit
trees. When the German Mennonites from Russia arrived in Kansas they found a withered land, where
local farmers who were depending upon spring wheat were almost starving. In order to solve this
problem each Mennonites family had brought with them special wheat seeds that they grow in Russia.
These new wheat seeds help made wheat growing in Kansas possible. They also help the farmers by
sharing many of their recipes with the Kansas settlers, such as Piroshki, a Russian dish that is a flaky
pastry filled with ground meat and eaten with sour cream. Buttermilk pie, cinnamon flavored apple
pie, and Bubbat (hot rolls with smoked sausage fillings) also became part of Kansas cuisine. Another
Mennonite dish was a meat roll filled with onions, bacon, and sweet pickle and then baked with sour
cream. Pancakes were the typical staple of early Kansans. For the pioneers who rarely had meat, the

Quantitative Research Design Critique Template
Quantitative studies usually focus on concepts that are fairly well developed, about which there is an
existing body of evidence, and for which there are reliable methods of measurement (Polit and Beck,
2012). I chose the Quantitative method of data collection for my research, because I want to determine
the effective of regular instruction, face to face training, and follow up on inhalation techniques in
increasing treatment adherence in patients with COPD
Critique Study: Efficacy of a multifactorial intervention on therapeutic adherence in patients with
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): a randomized controlled trial
1. What type of question (therapy, prognosis, etc.) is being addressed? Does the research question
concern a possible causal relationship between the independent and dependent variables?
The type of question being addressed in the study is to the effectiveness of a multi factorial
intervention on therapeutic adherence. The aim of the study is to determine the causal connection
between the effectiveness of multi factorial intervention and therapeutic adherence in patients with
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
2. What would be the strongest design for the research question? How does this compare to the design
actually used?

Treatment Of Schizophrenia And Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Some of the common psychiatric disorders that are experienced by patients include depression,
schizophrenia and generalized anxiety disorder. The psychiatric disorders may be caused by both
genetic and environmental factors. All these disorders of the mind greatly affect the quality of life of
the sufferers. Depression may affect any individual at any stage of life and the symptoms include lack
of interest and generalized low moods. The treatment for depression includes psychotherapy,
pharmacotherapy and an unpopular method; electroconvulsive therapy when the disease is extensive
(Watson, 2005). The complications in the treatment of the disease include headaches and
disorientation. Schizophrenia is disease of the mind that makes it arduous for an individual to tell
between the real and what is unreal. The symptoms of schizophrenia include obscured thinking
depression and hallucinations among others. The treatment of schizophrenia ranges from
pharmacotherapy to psychosocial interventions such as skills training, family therapy and cognitive
remediation among others. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), in which the sufferer is constantly
worried about several things, is characterized with incapability to let go of trivial matters that concern
an individual. The sufferers are unable of thinking clearly as their mind is clouded with varied
thoughts of worry. GAD has similar symptoms to panic disorder and other anxiety disorders. The

Logistics In The Roman Empire
Abstract
Transportation is the act of moving persons or property from one point to another. Logistics, a term
first used by the military, is the complex coordination involving people, supplies, and distribution
(American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, fifth edition, 2015). In the days of the
Roman Empire, transportation and logistics is what kept the Solders fed, provided the ammunition to
dominate in battle, and enabled the Empire to march across a continent and weld its strength and
power. In addition, the Roman Senate had the foresight to invest in road improvements and outposts
that served as hubs. Investing in a transportation network and efficient logistical management enabled

High Stakes Testing In Schools Essay
Should our public schools continue to allow high stakes assessments, for example the FCAT, to play a
large factor in determining if a student has met mastery of grade level standards? Numerous students
do not test well due to nerves or other disabilities; some students even become ill which equates to
inaccurate test results. Additionally, testing is such an enormous process that students are losing out on
valuable classroom instruction. Finally, with students pending graduation or promotion to the next
grade these high stakes tests are forcing teachers to teach to the test to ensure greater success.
High stakes testing is a high pressure situation for any student at all grade levels. There are many
seniors ready to graduate but have not passed their final state assessment to meet that requirement or a
younger elementary student pending promotion to the next grade based on the results of the state
assessment. No wonder kids are literally a bundle of nerves, making themselves sick over these tests.

Persuasive Essay On Snow Removal
The gift that my group performed for the community of Juneau, Alaska is snow removal. The group
consisted of my two most trustworthy peers Marcos Yadao and Mitchell Laudert. We all understood
that living in a small tight knit town such as Juneau; the smallest of tasks can have the biggest
impacts. That is when the light bulb in our intellectual brains and the idea of snow removal came to
mind. It was an appropriate job for the winter season. With heavy snow flurries in the forecast, this
would be an achievable accomplishment. With the service in mind our next step was to pick a
location. We did not want to select the wealthy neighborhoods because the residents there would
probably be financially able to pay for such services. The location that we settled on was not a poverty
stricken area, but the homes consisted of elderly residence. To avoid complications with the occupants
of the home and explain our reasoning for the free service we wanted to only do homes were the
residence weren t present. That did not hold up to a standard when we actually got around to carry out
the service. The whole point of going out and helping people of Juneau with their snow blanketed
driveways, walkways, and porches too was to gain self respect and also to prove to the world that
good can come from anything and anywhere too.
The reason that I believe that volunteer work and work in general is vital to success in the today s
world and society is because the generation that I am apart of is lack of a better term lazy. The motto of
the entitled generation is procrastination is key. The most important part in forming a generation
comes from the parents. The outcome of a generation s attitude always leads back to the source (the
parents). Volunteer work in present time is very important for the youth, but is equally as important for
adults too. Some local organizations in Juneau are Love Incorporation, Helping Hands Healing Hands

Emily Dickinson And The Village Blacksmith
The Village Blacksmith is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. This poem is about an honest,
hardworking blacksmith who provides for his family by working long hours at the forge. And the
message of the poem is through your life you will eventually change the world by the things you do,
and you make your mark on the world by looking hard every day. There is a Certain Slant of Light is a
poem by Emily Dickinson. In the poem it describes the feeling of hurt and oppression ironically using
light as the instrument of hurting. Throughout this essay I will be explaining and going into detail of
the literary elements found in each individually, but also found in both of these poems. The Village
Blacksmith is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The literary elements that i will be talking about are, enjambment, the theme of death and elision.
Firstly enjambment is seen more than once throughout the duration of the poem. Dickinson says,
Heavenly Hurt, it gives us/We can find no scar, (Dickinson, 5 6) during that part of the poem she uses
enjambment to create a dramatic pause, to show that it is not an actual physical scar, but a mental one
caused by, Heavenly Hurt . As with The Village Blacksmith, in A certain Slant of Light there us a
common theme of death throughout both. This theme is seen when Dickinson says, When it goes, tis
like the Distance/On the look of Death Dissimilar to the theme within The Village Blacksmith, the
message of the theme of death is different because of using death as an object rather than a process
that someone undergoes. Rather than using death as something that the blacksmith dealt with, A
certain Slant of Light personifies death as an entity that is being described as having a distant look.
Lastly, elision is the final literary technique i will be talking about. The quote i will be using to
demonstrate the use of elision says, Tis the seal Despair (Dickinson, 10) In this quote, the use of the
word Tis shows the use of elision by shortening and combining the words it and is . I think the reason
that Dickinson did this is because the use of shortened words was more common in the time period
when it was written. I believe that Emily Dickinson s use of literary devices was able to deliver
different messages, and things to think about while reading this

The Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of E-Books

proof that there are many disadvantages behind these technologies. This report has been written to
urge the person who in charge our stage library to think twice before shifting purchasing material

As Brandon Keim notes at Wired, screen writing is much less tactile. Typing into that Kindle keyboard

Some cognitive scientists think of that pen on paper interaction as a comprehension prop, one that gets
left out with e readers.
We also need to think about the nature of learning.
Scientists scrutinizing study methods find that underlining or highlighting are basically useless for
long term recall. It s much more effective to quiz yourself on what you re reading. It s an easy
argument, then, to say that the physical book is much more inviting of your inferences and objections

Credit Card And Credit Cards
Being invited by the president of Joliet Junior College to help students who are being lured by credit
predators on the myth that getting a credit card helps people to build their credits. We will use this
opportunity to educate the audience on the concept of credit cards and its responsible use in order to
avoid its snares. Furthermore, we plan on assisting the audience to gain insight on the rationale behind
building good credit through borrowing. According to Tim Chen, the author of American Household
Credit Card Debt, an article published in the year 2015, the average student loan debt is $31,946. He
also states that there s a total of $1.19 trillion in debt for student loans, which have increased 5.9%
from last year. In this paper, we will discuss the myth of how students are being lured by credit card
predators by assuming that getting a credit card helps people build their credits. We will also use this
opportunity to define the concept of credit card and its responsible use in order to avoid its snares.
Furthermore, alert the audience of other ways to build credit such as through borrowing and getting
students loan in less interest rate from the bank.

Criteria-Based Regulation Summary
Journal Four The next article focused on a criteria based reminder to help decrease the duration of
catheterization and increase proper catheter care, causing a decrease in CAUTIs (Chen et al., 2013).
The criteria based reminder was used to remind the nurse to check if the catheter could be removed
and also reminds them the catheter needed to be properly cleaned. The research method was a
randomized control trial (Chen et al., 2013). The sample of this study was from two respiratory ICUs
in a medical center in Taiwan. The study involved 231 patients who had catheters inserted in the ICUs
and 130 patients who had catheters inserted on other units (Chen et al., 2013). Data was collected by
having urine specimens taken from urinary catheter patients on the unit, they then tested for urinary
tract infections (Chen et al., 2013). Two groups of catheter patients were tested, one with the criteria

Introduction Of An Inventory Control Method
I. Introduction to Just in Time
When discussing just in time most people will focus on its initial position as an inventory control
method that attempts to match production as closely to sales as possible. This system attempts to do
this by producing or purchasing items just in time to be used, and thereby minimize the cost of holding
inventory (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1995). One expert has stated
that just in time seeks to produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be sold, sub assemblies just
in time to be assembled into finished goods, fabricated parts just in time to go into subassemblies, and
purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated parts. In its most pure sense, just in
time, seeks to have zero defects, zero machine setup times, zero re work, and zero lead time, from the
time an order is placed with the company until the product is shipped to the purchaser (Lee
Ebrahimpour, 2007). In this pure just in time inventory system, once raw materials enter the
production facility they are not recorded or inventoried until they leave as a finished good (Epps,
1995).
The concept of just in time was first established in the 1950 s by T. Ohno, the former executive Vice
Present of the Toyota Motor Company in Japan, to meet the precise demands of customers for various
models and colors of cars with a minimum delay (Swanson Lankford, 1998; Keller Kazazi, 1993).
Ohno himself has stated that his ideas were

Human Security Problems And The United Nations
Introduction:
The actions of the Takastand government has prompted this international conference to address the
human security problems and the repression of citizens in Takastand. The international community has
decided according to chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations that the political, human rights
and human security situation in Takastand require urgent attention and solutions. Due to its
geographical, ethical, and cultural proximity to the Middle East, Takastand is at risk of becoming a
violent hot spot as the events taking place in many Middle Eastern countries such as Lebanon, Syria,
Iraq and Yemen could spill over to Takastand and start an armed conflict.
Moreover, the new nation state of Takastand has been practicing an authoritative political policy on its
citizens which has led to many human security issues and human rights violations. The one and only
political party in Takastand consist the dominant ethnic community and discriminated against the
other ethnic communities. Also, international human rights organizations have publically criticized the
state of Takastand of repressing ethnic minorities and have presented evidence of mass graves. The
opposition groups in Takastand have offered to stand for individual human rights and freedoms and
democracy, as well as claiming that they will implement a true democracy which protects all citizens
and end the country s reliance on the West. However, as with the other ethnic groups, the position has

Analysis Of Beats Plastic And Its Effects On Our Natural...
Situational Analysis An audience with an ability to grasp concepts based on their college experience
and intelligence, I welcome my class members and my professor with amazing credentials to be able
to lead and teach this course. The title of the article is Paper beats plastic? How to rethink
environmental folklore written by Leyla Acaroglu. As you analyze life cycles, do you know someone
who plays a part of the system that affects our natural environment? How does a person know if there
actually reducing environmental impacts through their actions involving natural environment? There
must be a common ground when it comes to an effective analysis in order to get a clearer picture of
what effects the natural environment. Paper beats plastic, the fact that paper beats plastic can be
monitored in how our interactions affect life on earth. There is a financial gain when we accept that
plastic is a small amount used when creating plastic bags; paper is actually being used more than
plastic. What we produce and design in society can make a huge impact on the natural environment.
Individuals can gain knowledge and find ways to address complex situations in knowing how to make
better choices. Getting rid of plastic should not be an option. Paper usage can be good but not if were
throwing paper and plastic away in our garbage bins we are not helping our environment. Throwing
paper and plastic away in our garbage bins is poor judgement and poor judgement affects

California Should Adopt Oregon s Death With Dignity Law
California should adopt Oregon s Death With Dignity law (DWDA).
Death With Dignity also called assisted suicide, right to die, and physician assisted suicide (PAS)
allows physicians to prescribe lethal drugs to patients with a long term illness. In order for them to get
a hold of such medications they must have six months or less to live and willingly request this.
Reed Karaim author of, Assisted Suicide explains a study conducted by Margaret Battin, a prominent
professor of philosophy and internal medicine in the Division of Medical Ethics at the University of
Utah in Provo. Her study found that those who used the lethal medication were white, privileged to an
education, and enjoyed socializing economically and professionally (Karaim 455).
The article Brittany Maynard Death With Dignity Advocate for Death With Dignity Dies by Catherine
E. Shoichet delivers the story of Brittany Maynard. She was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2012 and
was told she had from 3 10 years to live. However, in another diagnose that she had she was told she
only had about six months to live. Maynard graduated from Berkeley and obtained a Masters in
Education from the University of Irvine. She was a California resident and could not obtain her wish
of dying with assisted suicide here. She moved to Oregon and there she became a resident. In 2014
Brittany Maynard consumed the drugs and peacefully died at 29 years. According to Lindsey Cook,
editor of US News, the article Here s Who Uses

Middle Passage Dbq
1st Paragraph In discussions of the Atlantic Slave Trade, the term Middle Passage often arises. The
Middle Passage was the stage of the triangular trade in which millions of Africans were shipped to the
New World as part of the Atlantic Slave trade. The journey was one of the most horrific aspects of the
morally deplorable system of slavery. Death was a constant threat as diseases, starvation, asphyxiation
and severe depression rampantly claimed the lives of African and the ship s crew. Throughout this
essay you will understand the tragic journey of the slaves and what hardships they had to go through.
2nd paragraph According to Document C, another reliable source, is an excerpt from the Slave Ship
Doctor. Alexander Falconbridge, who served as a doctor on the slave ships claims that, Their food is
served up to them in tubs, about the size of a small water bucket. They are placed around these tubs in
companies of ten... If negroes refused to take sustenance, I have seen coals of fire, glowing hot, put on
shovel, and placed so near their lips, as to scorch and burn them. This shows that when Falconbridge
was treating the slaves he figured out the reasons as to what caused their injuries. In the Slave Ship
Diagram in Document D, it portrays how the compartments in the boat were tightened up. Since ...

In paragraph 2, it states that, First there was not enough room in the boats. They suffered from heat,
thirst, and lack of hygiene. Even the whites had difficulty with these things. This reveals how the
Africans suffered but it does not go into depth about how the whites were treated. Referring back to
Autobiography of Equiano , he included how the white person died and how they treated him after.
Based on the knowledge of slavery, we can imagine the way the Africans were being punished, but we
did not know how the whites had

Work Related Issues In Health Care Essay
problems that concern work or that occurs in a work place (Goodtherapy.org, 2017). Whilst doing my
case study, I noticed that the patients that I interviewed had experienced some work related issues. The
asthma patient had to refrain from any physical activity while he was at school before exercise could
trigger his asthma symptoms. Also, the influenza patient mentioned that they had to take some time
off work in order not to expose their colleagues to the influenza virus. Towards the ending of the
month, they found that their income was affected by the time off and said they would have to work
harder when they returned to catch up. From this, it is clear that work related issues can affect
individuals negatively, however some issues related to work can affect health care professionals too.
The work force can be affected by work related issues. If a particular organization is under staffed
(e.g. a hospital), they will be more dependent on agency workers. Agency s may charge the
organization more for the help that they will provide to the organization. This may mean that more
money is spent on staffing than on the support of patients. An example of this is when more money is

It is unlikely that people will need to make long lasting lifestyle changes if they suffer from influenza
however this is not the case for asthma patients. Patients with asthma may have to make changes such
as diet changes to help them manage their asthma because asthma is a long term illness. This is the
main difference between asthma and influenza. Although they are both considered respiratory
diseases, asthma is long term. As a result of this, the treatments differ to suit the patient s needs.
Asthma patients require a relief inhaler on their person through the day whereas an influenza patient
does not need to constantly have a form of medication with

Essay on Right Wing Resurgence
Right Wing Resurgence In the mist of a disgruntled working class, one Austrian born man rose to
power, playing on their fears of immigrants, unemployment and globalization. By mixing social
populism, xenophobia, German nationalism with personal charisma, he was able to make his political
party one of the strongest in his nation. Many would believe that this would be a description of the
infamous dictator Adolph Hitler. Rather, it is a description of Jorg Haider, recent governor of the
Austrian state of Carinthia and former leader of the Austrian Freedom Party. Austria s freedom party
has increased it s power significantly in the last few years. No other party in Austria has more workers
among its voters. Also the Austrian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these parties have been able to obtain much political recognition in their countries. They also
share many of the same characteristics, as well as tactics that have allowed them to become
successful. First, both parties are lead by very charismatic leaders. The Swiss People s Party is lead by
the industrialist Christoph Blocher, while the Freedom Party is lead by Jorg Haider. Both men are
extremely charismatic and energetic. Secondly, these two parties carry much of the same policy, like
incoherent economic policies, a rejection of European integration, and ugly attacks on immigrants.
Oddly, both leaders also have similar views on WWII and the Holocaust. Christoph Blocher once
praised a book that claimed that the Holocaust never took place, while Jorg Haider has publicly
praised Hitler s employment practices, and called SS veterans patriots (UPI). Similar leaders is not the
only thing that the Freedom Party and the Swiss People s Party have in common. Both parties gain
power by playing on people s fear of losing what they have. For example, both parties claim that
immigration is taking jobs away from citizens. Austria however has 4 percent unemployment, which is
less than half of the European Average. Despite an economic downturn, Switzerland continues to be
one of the world s wealthiest nations. (UPI) While Austria and Switzerland currently have the

So all the other major players have to keep the prices lower than iPhone, because iPhone has the most
market share and has a strong customer brand loyalty. * To summarize, entry into the smartphone
industry is not HIGH but to sustain and compete against the major giants is close to impossible. 2.)
Competitive Rivalry within the industry: High Consumer base: Each firm targets a different set of
audience but most of the time overlapping audience. For e.g Apple targets high end customers, Nokia
targets the common and the sophisticated customers, RIM targets the enterprise. But the consumer
base keeps changing with the change in the dynamics of the industry. For e.g most of the enterprise
clients are shifting to Apple because of the innovative design of the products offered. Highly
Competitive market: The rivalry in the industry is because of the major players already competing b/w
each other. The major firms being Apple, Samsung, RIM, Nokia PALM and HTC. Although each firm
has their own strengths and weaknesses which might be related to design of product or marketing or
cost of handsets. Competitive Margins: Because of a large number of key players in the phone
industry and the cut throat competition. Every firm is forced to keep the profit margins per sale low
and hence attract more customers. Also the economic crisis during 2008 2009 has made the companies
lower their pricing and thus improve sales. 3.) Negotiating Power of Buyers:

THE MEN OF THE OPEN SPACES
Identity is a very important part of being Australian; it is a feeling of being associated with a national
group, defined by a common heritage, which may be based on many attributes, including race,
territory, language and history. The Men of the Open Spaces , written be Will H. Ogilvie addresses
these issues of Australian identity, constructing a powerful representation of the Australian bush
culture. The text uses past views of popular culture that are still ubiquitous today, to construct a sense
of national ideology. The text focuses on a very traditional concept of nationhood and constructs a
stereotypical representation of Australian culture. This essay will explore this in relation to the

Nobody expected this. Japanese planes destroyed approximately 20 American naval vessels, and

The day after bombing, Congress approved Roosevelt s declaration to start the war with Japan. After

Captain Corelli s Mandolin, I learned about the brutality people faced during the time of World War

One of the most devastating events of World War two, the first nuclear attack, was described in The

  • 2. Differences Between SCM-And Control Trials Our meta analysis revealed that premotor reaction times are indeed faster in SCM+ than in SCM trials. The estimated magnitude of this effect across the studies may be long enough to entertain the possibility that motor programs are triggered via a pathway that bypasses some cortical areas of the brain [1, 23], but not fast enough to completely rule out cortical involvement [11]. Although, the meta analysis showed that the effect associated with SCM activity is robust across studies, the heterogeneity test approached significance and depended on the correlation coefficient chosen for the studies for which data was not available: an increase in the correlation coefficient from 0.5 to 0.56 resulted in a statistically significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [25, 26]). In contrast, although premotor RTs in response to loud acoustic stimuli ( 114 dBa) are somewhat heterogeneous, differences in premotor RT as a function of foreperiod variability are clearly mitigated, showing similar average estimates and overlapping confidence intervals for the subgroups (see Figure 4). Why are responses initiated earlier when SCM activity is detected? Maslovat et al. [10] proposed that the detection of SCM activity indicates that a more direct neural circuit, common with the startle reflex, was responsible for involuntarily triggering the prepared response. Thus, when responses occur without SCM activity (SCM ), the longer typical neural circuit involving the auditory cortex would trigger the motor response. This model would explain why responses are faster when SCM activity is observed. Interestingly, the StartReact effect can still be observed when the startle reflex is abolished due to the presentation of a less intense stimulus before the go signal (pre pulse inhibition or PPI)[16]. This is counterintuitive because it suggests that the more direct neural circuit is still activated when the transient activation of the midbrain nuclei by PPI stimulus exerts long lasting inhibition of the giant neurons of the caudal pontine reticular nucleus [34]. Alternatively, we have suggested that the apparent correlation between SCM activity and premotor RT could be a result of variations in the build up of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many factors that go into what categorizes a person as at risk . According to the National Institute for Mental Health, an at risk person is one that a person that has demonstrated or expressed the thought of self harm or suicide. About nineteen percent of young people contemplate or attempt suicide each year. So how do these statistics matter to you? Think about it like this, according to the center for disease control, (CDC), every 12 minutes, a person will die because of suicide attempt. That is roughly five deaths every hour. However, you do not hear about suicide like I have so bluntly put it to you. We see suicide on the news and social media and it is written so positively. When Robin William s died of suicide in 2014 the media started the phrase Genie you are free , but could this quote be potentially glorifying suicide in a way that changes society s perception on suicide. Throughout the years, media has continually grown and has had a huge impact on people of all ages. According to the authors of The Impact of Social Media on Children, Adolescents, and Families , social media is both a blessing and a curse, social media encourages creativity, connection between peers, and helping shape ones individuality. However it also can lead to Facebook depression which is depression that develops when preteens and teens spend a great deal of time on social media sites, such as Facebook, and then begin to exhibit classic symptoms of depression. • 4. Use Of Hand Hygiene Interventions And Techniques For... The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections Laura K. Jones School of Nursing at Platt College The Use of Hand Hygiene Interventions and Techniques to Prevent Nosocomial Infections Studies have continued to prove hand hygiene to be the most effective technique for eliminating nosocomial infections. Treatment facilities are experiencing multidrug resistant organisms at an all time high due to a lack of proper infection prevention protocol. Nosocomial infections are the most common complication that can arise during a hospital stay (Insert citation). A majority of developing countries are facing multidrug resistant organisms caused by the lack of infection prevention protocol and a large amount of pressure to provide health care in poor living and treatment conditions. Over use of antibiotic treatment is part of the reason large numbers of multidrug resistant organisms are appearing in the healthcare environment. Implementing more stringent infection prevention protocol, assessing health care facilities use of proper infection control, and critically analyzing use of antibiotics will aid in elimination of nosocomial infections and decrease the average hospital stay. According to the evidence based clinical practice guidelines on the guidline.gov website, there are three standard principles of hand hygiene. The first is using a hand washing technique with decontamination agents, such as soaps or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Integrative Approach For Counseling And Its Effects On... Integrative Approach to Counseling Key Concepts The central idea in an integrative approach to counseling is one of a patient s ability to affect their life through the choices they make. William Glasser suggests most people s unhappiness stems from the lack of meaningful relationships, and most relationships are either successful or a disaster based on the choices we make (Corey, 2013). Patients are able to positively or negatively impact their mental well being by making choices that deepen their interpersonal relationships. Expanding on Glasser s ideas, existentialism and the choices it offers, gives an individual the opportunity to experience freedom. They are no longer tied to a deterministic view of life, but are instead given license to create the life they wish to have, unencumbered by the weight of societal, cultural, or familial expectations (Corey, 2013). Both choice theory and existentialism closely mirror ideas taught in Protestant Christianity: people are free to make choices about their behavior and lifestyle, and all choices have an outcome. That outcome can be positive (salvation), or negative (damnation). If one believes the rules as explained in the Bible, the outcome of one s life rests in their choices. Counselor s role In most cases, the counselor will best serve their client by taking on a not knowing role in the relationship, allowing the client to become the expert in their own lives (Corey, 2013). • 12. High Stakes Testing In Schools Essay Should our public schools continue to allow high stakes assessments, for example the FCAT, to play a large factor in determining if a student has met mastery of grade level standards? Numerous students do not test well due to nerves or other disabilities; some students even become ill which equates to inaccurate test results. Additionally, testing is such an enormous process that students are losing out on valuable classroom instruction. Finally, with students pending graduation or promotion to the next grade these high stakes tests are forcing teachers to teach to the test to ensure greater success. High stakes testing is a high pressure situation for any student at all grade levels. There are many seniors ready to graduate but have not passed their final state assessment to meet that requirement or a younger elementary student pending promotion to the next grade based on the results of the state assessment. • 15. Persuasive Essay On Snow Removal The gift that my group performed for the community of Juneau, Alaska is snow removal. The group consisted of my two most trustworthy peers Marcos Yadao and Mitchell Laudert. We all understood that living in a small tight knit town such as Juneau; the smallest of tasks can have the biggest impacts. That is when the light bulb in our intellectual brains and the idea of snow removal came to mind. It was an appropriate job for the winter season. With heavy snow flurries in the forecast, this would be an achievable accomplishment. With the service in mind our next step was to pick a location. We did not want to select the wealthy neighborhoods because the residents there would probably be financially able to pay for such services. The location that we settled on was not a poverty stricken area, but the homes consisted of elderly residence. To avoid complications with the occupants of the home and explain our reasoning for the free service we wanted to only do homes were the residence weren t present. That did not hold up to a standard when we actually got around to carry out the service. The whole point of going out and helping people of Juneau with their snow blanketed driveways, walkways, and porches too was to gain self respect and also to prove to the world that good can come from anything and anywhere too. The reason that I believe that volunteer work and work in general is vital to success in the today s world and society is because the generation that I am apart of is lack of a better term lazy. The motto of the entitled generation is procrastination is key. The most important part in forming a generation comes from the parents. The outcome of a generation s attitude always leads back to the source (the parents). Volunteer work in present time is very important for the youth, but is equally as important for adults too. There is a Certain Slant of Light is a poem by Emily Dickinson. In the poem it describes the feeling of hurt and oppression ironically using light as the instrument of hurting. The Village Blacksmith is a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The literary elements that i will be talking about are, enjambment, the theme of death and elision. Firstly enjambment is seen more than once throughout the duration of the poem. Dickinson says, Heavenly Hurt, it gives us/We can find no scar, (Dickinson, 5 6) during that part of the poem she uses enjambment to create a dramatic pause, to show that it is not an actual physical scar, but a mental one caused by, Heavenly Hurt . As with The Village Blacksmith, in A certain Slant of Light there us a common theme of death throughout both. This theme is seen when Dickinson says, When it goes, tis like the Distance/On the look of Death Dissimilar to the theme within The Village Blacksmith, the message of the theme of death is different because of using death as an object rather than a process that someone undergoes. Rather than using death as something that the blacksmith dealt with, A certain Slant of Light personifies death as an entity that is being described as having a distant look. Lastly, elision is the final literary technique i will be talking about. The quote i will be using to demonstrate the use of elision says, Tis the seal Despair (Dickinson, 10) In this quote, the use of the word Tis shows the use of elision by shortening and combining the words it and is . I think the reason that Dickinson did this is because the use of shortened words was more common in the time period when it was written. Underline, dog ear, scribble in the margin: these are all tactile ways of interacting with a book. They are also gestural, and gestures are linked with deep level cognition. As Brandon Keim notes at Wired, screen writing is much less tactile. Typing into that Kindle keyboard just doesn t have the same kinesthetic satisfaction that carving into the page with a pen provides. Some cognitive scientists think of that pen on paper interaction as a comprehension prop, one that gets left out with e readers. We also need to think about the nature of learning. Scientists scrutinizing study methods find that underlining or highlighting are basically useless for long term recall. It s much more effective to quiz yourself on what you re reading. It s an easy argument, then, to say that the physical book is much more inviting of your inferences and objections to the text so long as you ve learned how to read ... Criteria-Based Regulation Summary Journal Four The next article focused on a criteria based reminder to help decrease the duration of catheterization and increase proper catheter care, causing a decrease in CAUTIs (Chen et al., 2013). The criteria based reminder was used to remind the nurse to check if the catheter could be removed and also reminds them the catheter needed to be properly cleaned. The research method was a randomized control trial (Chen et al., 2013). The sample of this study was from two respiratory ICUs in a medical center in Taiwan. • 21. Introduction Of An Inventory Control Method I. Introduction to Just in Time When discussing just in time most people will focus on its initial position as an inventory control method that attempts to match production as closely to sales as possible. This system attempts to do this by producing or purchasing items just in time to be used, and thereby minimize the cost of holding inventory (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007; Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1995). One expert has stated that just in time seeks to produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be sold, sub assemblies just in time to be assembled into finished goods, fabricated parts just in time to go into subassemblies, and purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated parts. In its most pure sense, just in time, seeks to have zero defects, zero machine setup times, zero re work, and zero lead time, from the time an order is placed with the company until the product is shipped to the purchaser (Lee Ebrahimpour, 2007). In this pure just in time inventory system, once raw materials enter the production facility they are not recorded or inventoried until they leave as a finished good (Epps, 1995). The concept of just in time was first established in the 1950 s by T. Ohno, the former executive Vice Present of the Toyota Motor Company in Japan, to meet the precise demands of customers for various models and colors of cars with a minimum delay (Swanson Lankford, 1998; Keller Kazazi, 1993). • 26. Work Related Issues In Health Care Essay problems that concern work or that occurs in a work place (Goodtherapy.org, 2017). Whilst doing my case study, I noticed that the patients that I interviewed had experienced some work related issues. The asthma patient had to refrain from any physical activity while he was at school before exercise could trigger his asthma symptoms. Also, the influenza patient mentioned that they had to take some time off work in order not to expose their colleagues to the influenza virus. Towards the ending of the month, they found that their income was affected by the time off and said they would have to work harder when they returned to catch up. From this, it is clear that work related issues can affect individuals negatively, however some issues related to work can affect health care professionals too. The work force can be affected by work related issues. If a particular organization is under staffed (e.g. a hospital), they will be more dependent on agency workers.
