Ancient Greek Vase Analysis
Perhaps one of the most well known staples of ancient Greek art is the vase constructed from clay
and decorated with black glaze to depict culturally relevant scenes, stories, and events, ancient
Greek pottery is instrumental to our modern understanding of ancient Greek society. Thanks to the
sturdiness of the fired terra cotta from which these pieces are made, archaeologists have been able
to uncover a plethora of these vases and vessels and analyze them to gather otherwise unknowable
information about the time in which they were made. The vases are most commonly categorized
by shape and by the era in which they were made several different artistic styles and movements
are documented via the decorations and art on these vases. Some of... Show more content on

On the front, typical of all Panathenaic amphorae, is an image of Athena holding a spear,
featuring a limited but still visually striking use of color. Dark red and white adorn her apparel,
helmet, and shield. Her skin is also colored with a whiteish tone this detail is perhaps a tradition
left over from the much earlier Minoan civilization, whose art made the visual distinction of
female from male with lighter skin tones. Incised lines are used to depict intricate decorations on
her tunic. In this panel, Athena is flanked on either side by Doric columns, an inscription
running up the side of one, and roosters atop both. The significance of the roosters remains
unknown, but some have theorized that the presence of the birds could have something to do
with the Greek word for rooster, alektruon, which means defender, while others suggest that they
are symbolic of Zeus, Athena s father. The neck and the foot of the vase are decorated on both
sides. The back of the vase displays a scene from a stadion footrace, the event for which this prize
would have been awarded. All 5 athletes in the panel assume the heroically nude state that was
more than common in Greek society, and detailed musculature is delineated with the use of
incised lines. As with Athena on the other side, Minoan influence is evident in the scene,
evidenced by the pinched waists if the runners. Beyond the focal points of both scenes, no
details are used to indicate their surrounding landscape, in a very similar fashion to the Berlin
painter s style. Also like the Berlin painter, there is evidence of perspective, as the athlete s legs
and arms overlap each other to provide a sense of relative space, however, this detail disappears
on the other side of the vase, as Athena s spear runs behind her head, contrary to the position it is
suggested to take by the way she

War Of The Worlds Comparison Essay
Old films for new
The films I have chosen to compare are `The War of the Worlds which are both in different era`s.
The original movie was created in 1953 and the latest version of the movie was created in 2005.
One of the first things I noticed was that in the older version of War of the Worlds, the mise en
scene is a lot darker, especially at the beginning of the film when the first alien lands on earth. This
creates a feeling of coldness and loneliness amongst the cast. This is a completely different concept
with Spielberg s version of the film, as he chooses a New York City mise en scene, which is filled
with a much faster pace of life as there is traffic and people everywhere. It also introduces all sorts
of drama, as the city itself is a very busy place.
In the 2005 version the narrator of the film that explains how the earth got invaded and what it is
invaded by is the actor Morgan Freeman. Morgan narrates the film in a calm but serious manner to
show the extent of what s going on. On the 1953 version ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is in contrast to the 1953 version of the film, when almost straight away you see a long shot
of the alien crash into the earth. When the alien first appears in the 2005 version of the film,
Spielberg many people gathering around the open hole in the ground confused on what s
happening, while using a nice overshot of everyone s heads. Suspense is created, by the
concrete road is torn apart. As soon as the craft actually rises everyone becomes very scared, with
Spielberg using plenty of over shoulder and POV shots as a way of throwing the audience into the
action themselves. There are zooming close ups of Rays face, stating the shock that he is feeling
and how vulnerable he must be. The helicopter shots to show how the big the craft is in

Raymond Carver s So Much Water So Close To Home
Known for his Dirty Realism writing style (Rundle, 2007), Raymond Carver wrote about the
tribulations of the American Working Class. In his short story, So Much Water So Close To Home
(1975), Claire s husband, Stuart, and his three friends go on a fishing trip, only to discover the
body of a young woman floating in the river shortly after arriving. Instead of contacting the
authorities immediately they continue to fish beside the body until some two days later. Carver
examines what men owe women and what the living owe the dead (Byrnes, 2006). Director Ray
Lawrenceand his screenwriter Beatrix Christian attempt to develop these themes further in their
2006 Australian adaptation, Jindabyne. While there have been many alterations to the narrative, the
film still closely revolves around Carver s concept of responsibility. Although both Carver and
Lawrence have explored societal and moral issues, Jindabyne s more modern observations may
further develop the representation of gender and culture and, more importantly, preserve the
intricate ethical pillars of Carver s short.
So Much Water So Close To Home very closely looks at the innate polarity in men and women s
reactions when faced with both pain and pleasure, and it is this separation in behaviour that drives
both versions of the narrative. As Claire narrates the short story, Carver creates a bias in its telling.
She explicitly implies that every action of the men is inherently and intentionally evil. With Claire s

Does Our Increasingly Mechanized World Cause Us You Feel...
Does our increasingly mechanized world cause us to feel alienated?
It can be argued that life has never been so easy. We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely
available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing.
Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of
overabundance and the freedom it affords us.
Life in this age is unsatisfying for many, with people exhibiting clear signs of dissastisfaction, and
a sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and
overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher
quality and easier life.
Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result
of our incessant progression towards a brighter future.
Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and
purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I
think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern
times.
I want to understand the deeper reasons behind this, not only because i think it is very important
but also because i feel it is largely misunderstand and overlooked for such a huge complicated issue
within our society.
I will look at Marx and Engels.

Henry The Alligator Snapping Turtle Short Story
Twisted Reality
Henry the Alligator Snapping Turtle was not fast, but he was really stubborn. So when the cocky
hare, Celer, had dared him to try to race him, after hurting a friend no less, Henry knew he had to
end this Celer s rule, in any way necessary. Henry accepted the challenge much Celer s amusement.
The race was set to be exactly one week from that moment. When Henry left the courtyard he had
been in, his friends quickly (for turtles anyway) ran toward him. Joey, a large, African Spurred
Tortoise, was the first to catch up.
You re crazy, you ll never win Joey said

Henry heard other things, terrible things, some laughing, laughing at Celer s pain, others
whispering of Henry in horror. At least I will never have to deal with Celer. No I don t think
anyone will hurt me or my friends again. Henry won the race.
Henry did what he felt like was a run over to his friends, but they ran. He shouted,
Wait up guys, come on.... Please his voice slowly drifted off as he realized they knew they had
left him behind. They were afraid of Henry. They ll be back, they won t stay scared.... Will they?
On his way home Henry managed to say something to Shelly.
Hey, Shelly what s up Henry asked, hopeful
Nothing Shelly said decisively, and she increased her pace. Henry had to run to keep up with Shelly.
Please, Shelly, why do you resent me all the sudden? Henry said, though he suspected the answer.
Because you bit someone s leg in 2! That s not okay! Shelly was practically shouting by the end of
this statement. Henry wasn t sure how to respond to that, it was true. His plan had gone so well

Toddler Room Proposal
I have been given the responsibility of stocking the toy room of the ABC Child Care Center with
toys that are appropriate for infants and toddlers as well as preschoolers. The toys need to be safe
and washable. They also need to enhance the physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth of
children from infancy to early childhood. The following contains my proposals. The first part will
encompass recommendations for the infant and toddler room followed by recommendations for
preschoolers.
For the infants and toddler room we want to find toys that will assist in developing reflexes, and
repeating, imitating, and goal oriented schemes. Experimentation is important in this stage, so we
need to find toys that will offer up trial and error scenarios ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In my experience, their toys also bring out the emotional side. They have sounds, flashing lights,
and enticing colors. Some of their toys include the Teach Elephant, Busy Learners Activity Cube,
and Teach My Baby Learning Kit. My son loves his Sit To Stand Learning Walker which also helps
with pulling himself up to stand, push and walk. For some reason his Catch Me Kitten brings out
his anger When that toy is on he chases it down, yells at it and proceeds to knock it down.
For the preschool playroom we want to build upon and encourage more skill development and
socialization. This age group is moving away from believing they are the center of the world and
into realization of others. We want to inspire initiation collaboration with others. We want to
improve intellectual stimulation and expand upon make believe play. This can be accomplished
through sociodramatic play. We also want toys that will improve upon language skills.
Thought, judgement and involvement are key. Aside from toys listed above, other age related toys
for this group include blocks, puppets, and art materials to incite creativity and imagination.
Fantasy Forts and doll houses help with socialization as well as imagination. Puzzles and games to
promote problem solving and accomplishment. See Saws and Rocking Horses for

Normally, walking involves carrying lot weight as compared to other types. You should try a
couple of brands to make sure that the straps and frame are comfy on your back.
4.Check the weight of the back
Backpacks that feature handles and wheels are incredible, but the additional features can add
more weight. Consider the weight of the backpack because this can use the baggage allowance,
especially when you are traveling by plane. Also, it is crucial to make sure that the wheel
mechanism is stable and strong because handlers can break easily. You don t needa backpack with
damaged wheels because you will only be carrying additional weight
5.Consider a daypack
Those are used to carrying a large backpack, also bring a small backpack, especially when they are

The best thing about daypacks is that they are ideal for all kinds of travel. They are flexible with

What Are The Three Philosophies Of Legalism
Philosophies are logical studies of basic truths about values, knowledge, and ultimately, the
world. China had three primary philosophies which were considered as religions: Legalism
Confucianism, and Daoism. These 3 main philosophies shaped China s government and history.
Legalism is the belief that a powerful yet efficient government accompanied by a strict legal
system is the key to order in society. One thing Legalists fear is disorder in society; that is why
they believe order is important. This philosophy arose during the time of the Warring States, when
kingdoms fought for control it was created in hope that, if China adopted a strong government
which enforced strict laws, just like in Legalism, China s order would be restored, and its problems
would be solved. Yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was similar to Legalists, in that he wanted to restore order. Nevertheless, his ideas differed on
conflict resolution and peace in relationships. He believed that respect for and of others was
essential for peace and order, and that government leaders should exhibit virtue. Confucius also
emphasized education, believing it was of extreme importance for others to be educated. The
Analects is a book created by Confucius disciples containing all of Confucius teachings;
combined they form the set of beliefs known as Confucianism. There were 5 basic relationships:
father and son; elder brother and younger brother; husband and wife; friend and friend; and ruler
and subject. All of the relationships fall into 2 categories: proper conduct in the family and
proper conduct in society. Now we delve into a primary source The Analects: The filial piety of

The Junie B. Jones series, written by Barbara Park, follows a lively school girl on her journey

Why do certain people rule over what each child can and cannot read? Is that not the parents job
to determine whether or not is it appropriate for their child? When a book is considered banned,
parents, teachers, and librarians are discouraged from providing the book to their children. Many
of these adults then disapprove of the book without even reading it. Junie B. Jones is thrown from
the realm of possibility for many children just because the loveable character has some flaws.

Human Dependence On The Tar Sands
Human dependence on the tar sands will be monumental in the future with the end of conventional
oil. The tar sands project in Alberta is currently one of the greatest industrial projects throughout
human history. At this time, the oil sands in Alberta are the second largest producers of oil in the
world. The oil sandsin Albertacarry more than 170 billion barrels of oil, which is enough to sustain
Canada s oil demand for more than 15 decades. However, oil sands development over the years has

With the current and projected oil sands development, the green house gas emission is expected to
grow significantly in the near future in Alberta. The increase in the greenhouse gas emission leads
to more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that traps the heat, which will eventually lead to global
warming. Furthermore, some green house gases like ozone are extremely harmful since it creates
respiratory problems for humans and it also disrupts the ecosystem by damaging crops. Thus, the
oil sands development has led to an unhealthy environment in the communities of Alberta over the
past couple of years by releasing a great deal of greenhouse gases.
Additionally, air pollution is also one of the most threatening environmental issues created from the
development of the tar sands. The air pollution created from the tar sands is not being dealt with
enough to protect the communities, the environment, and human health. During the process of
extracting oil from the sand, there are many vehicles used such as tractors, caterpillars, and cranes
that releases large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. The high concentration of carbon in the
atmosphere can lead to numerous damaging consequences within the communities. Recent studies
have also shown that if tar sand production increases as expected, then there will be a significant

Theme Of Euthanasia In The Million Dollar Baby
Million Dollar Baby, released in 20014, is a film directed by Clint Eastwood. He also stars as
one of the main characters by the name of Frankie Dunn. The film also stars Hillary Swank as
Maggie and Morgan Freeman as Eddie Dupris. This film is categorized as a sports drama and
explores a variety of issues. However, one of the moral dilemmas that come up strongly in this
film is euthanasia. Although it comes up towards the end of the film, it has a huge impact on how
one perceives the whole film. Euthanasia continues to be a moral dilemma for many people,
especially Christians. This is because it covers the very important issue of life and death. Though
legal in some countries and several states in the United States, it is still a hot topic... Show more

In the beginning, Frankie appeared strong in his decision against proceeding with euthanasia.
He was strong enough to tell her that he could not do it, basing his decision on his beliefs.
Eventually, he gives up and decided to go ahead with the decision yet he knows that it is wrong.
Though it was a difficult decision for him to make, it is still not the right one. At one point,
Frankie talks to Father Horvak and expresses his conflicted feelings. Father Horvak advises
Frankie to leave Maggie with God, since it is wrong to kill a human being even under the
circumstances. In his perspective, Frankie justifies the act by saying that it is wrong for him to
let her suffer any longer. He makes an individual decision that goes against his faith and kills
Maggie, just to end her suffering. It might have seemed like a good decision at the time since it
would end Maggie s suffering, but he still killed her, which is wrong. The decision that Frankie
made had a huge impact on his relationship with God, self and others. First, after helping Maggie
die, Frankie felt a disconnection from God. His relationship with God would never be the same
again, since he had knowingly committed sin. Secondly, Frankie s relationship with himself
changed as he felt guilty for what he had

Comparing Ghiberti, Hieronymus Bosch, And Christopher Wren
Looking back on the past, art, music, and literature played an important role in society. Compared
to today, it still has that same effect. It s inspiring and changing society in many different ways.
Art has a power of expressing what we humans can t explain. It brings out a feeling in all of us that
s unimaginable and unexplainable. Religion has served as a primary subject matter of art.
However, there are many views when it comes to the relationship between humans and God. Three
artists from three different time periods explore the comparisons between art and religion. Lorenzo
Ghiberti, Hieronymus Bosch, and Christopher Wren have explored the idea that art has influenced
religion and that it s meaning is one we cannot fully explain. All three... Show more content on

influence on society during that time. When the Great Fire of 1666 occurred, London faced
many struggles. Almost 100,000 people were left homeless according to our text and society felt
powerless. They had lost faith in life and ultimately God. When the St. Paul s Cathedral was
finished, it gave the city hope for a greater world full of many opportunities. The use of certain
shapes and simple symmetry resembled true architecture and power. This building fully supports
that art had great influence on religion in London. It was a place where people could feel safe and

Explain Lee Canter s Model Of Assertive Discipline
Assertive discipline model: This model is by Lee Canter and he believes that practitioners should
follow steps to assertive discipline. All together there are five steps which are: Practitioners should
understand that their behaviour affects children. Parents and practitioners should display assertive
responses. When disciplining a child, it is important that they have a plan with rules and
consequences. Within this disciplining plan practitioners should explain this to them. Adults
should tell children to behaviour properly. Practitioners should recognise when the child is being
good and you should approve of this behaviour. Lee Canter believed this as children knew if they
were getting praised for good behaviour, they were more likely to continue this behaviour.
However, if the child didn t follow the rules then they will be consequences. For example, losing
some time of their break or go to time out to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Canter s model is easy to follow and it is simple to understand for both children and adults. Lee
also believed that if the child is being praised then this could raise the child s self esteem and if
they are being praised and encouraged then they may respect the adult more. Canter s model can
be effective as it will lead the child to behave in a certain way, for example, if the child is getting
praised then they will continue however if they are showing negative behaviour then there will be
consequences. However, sometimes when managing behaviour can only be effective when used
consistently. This model will work well if parents apply the same model at home and it will work
well if children and young people don t seek to challenge the rules.

Environmental Effects Of Overfishing
The ocean is one of the largest sources of food and income for countries all across the globe. As
the fishing industry and human population grow, more and more resources are being taken out of
the ocean every year. If this process continues without any type of new regulation, our oceans
supply of resources will quickly start depleting. Without a sustainable output from our oceans,
millions of people will be losing income that they thought they could rely on forever. While most
people are not aware of this problem, over the past fifty years overfishing has developed into a
huge environmental issue that could have catastrophic global effects on us in the future if left
untreated. According to WorldWildlife.org, More than 85 percent of the world s fisheries have
been pushed to or beyond their biological limits and are in need of strict management plans to
restore them (WWL.org). This statistic shows that most of our oceans resources are being overused
and depleted. Some of the the most important fishspecies, for example, the bluefin tuna, have been
exploited to the point that their population s survival is at risk. The overfishing of top predators
disrupts marine ecosystems and food chains, leaving a large quantity of smaller populations. This
type of imbalance can be very dangerous to the oceans ecosystems by throwing off the natural
order of predators. In the past fishingwas more sustainable because the technology that is used
today did not exist. They did not

Animals Treated Animals
Should animals continue to be treated as property? In the law they don t, but I think they should.
Animals are beings with emotions; therefore, they should be respected. Animals should not be used
in the circus because the animals in this are being incarcerated. They are being forced to do
unnatural things so they can avoid the animal abuse used in training. Trophy huntingshould stay
legal for the simple fact that this is how must wildlife conservations are funded. It s easy for us to
criticize them as inhumane, but how else can poor countries get the money needed to fund this.
Sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Also, I agree that livestock are
raised to be eaten and should be, but I don t agree with the ways that we treat them. We should treat
them with respect both before and during slaughter. While animals in the eyes of the law are seen
as property, this does not mean that man should be cruel to animals. They are beings that should be
respected.
In a perfect world, circuses would ban the use of entertainment animals. When one buys a ticket to
visit the circus, they are contributing to animal cruelty. Circuses use violence to train the animals,
so that they can do demeaning acts. It is not natural for elephants to balance themselves on a ball,
or for tigers to jump through rings of fire. During all the acts, the training will stand off to the side
with a whip ready to beat the animal when they don t want to perform. Circuses claim that they

Real Estate Properties Of Public Records
Property appraisers have many responsibilities including verifying legal descriptions of real
estate properties in public records, inspecting new and existing properties and recording their
unique characteristics. They take pictures of the interior and exterior of properties as well as
analyze similar properties. They then prepare written reports and maintain current data on the
property. Appraisers work in places they are familiar with so they are aware of issues that may
affect the property s value. Appraisers usually value one property at a time and they can often
specialize in certain types of real estate. (Appraisal Careers) Commercial appraisers specialize in
working with income producing property like stores, hotels and office buildings. Residential
appraisers focus on appraising personal property like single family homes and condominiums,
appraising properties of one to four units. When evaluating a property s value, appraisers note the
details of the property and surrounding area, such as a view or noise factor. They also consider the
overall condition of the property, including the foundation and roof. They must determine whether
any renovations have been done. Appraisers photograph the outside of the home and some of the
interior features. This gives them the ability to determine the condition. They compare the property
to other comparable ones by analyzing lease records and previous appraisals. Appraisers record

Essay on Scottish American Immigration
Scottish American Immigration
America was created by people who immigrated to the country over the years. One of the many
groups of people to come to America and help build into what she is today was the Scots. In order
to discuss the Scottish immigration you must understand why they immigrated, what type of
prejudice they faced, and what role the Scots now have in today s America. Though the Scots did
not have the influx of people immigrating as the Irish, Italian, or English they had a major influence
on the development of America.
When did the first Scottish arrive and why did they come? The first Scots in America probably
came with the Vikings is what Wikipedia says on when the first Scots came to America. The first

Because of this many Scots did not face prejudice or discrimination and more Scots came to the
New World. So much so that at the time of our first federal census (1790) people of Scottish
(including Scottish Irish) origins made up more than six percent of the population.
(geneologymagazine.com) By the year 2000 approximately 1.5 million Scots have immigrated to
America. (Gormley) So were the Scottish discriminated against or did they discriminate. The truth
of the matter is that though the Scottish was not discriminated against, they did participate in
discrimination. The Scottish was some of the main farmers of cotton and tobacco. Because of this
the Scottish owned many slaves and fought to be able to keep the African Americans slaves. Their
discrimination against this race would continue well into the 1960 s. This would include
discriminating against them in jobs, whether that being not hiring because of color, or not
promoting for the same reason.
For the most part the Scottish did real well for themselves once they were in America. A fair went
on to have children who became presidents; Andrew Jackson was one of those children. Along
with Andrew Jackson there were a few more Scots to help sign the Declaration of Independence.
Many presidents later would be of Scottish decent. Many went on to become successful tobacco and
cotton farmers. Many went on to settle and discover the American West

The Pacific Bluefin Tuna Is An Valuable Valued Specie
Introduction The Pacific Bluefin Tuna is an incredibly valued specie who has been doomed for
decades. Although the IUCN has listed this specie as vulnerable, they are far becoming more
endangered to the point of extinction. Their population remains at 4% of what they were before
commercial fishers began capturing them by the thousands (The IUCN Red List, 2014). The
Pacific Bluefin Tunais one of the largest and fastest fishes in the ocean. Their are three distinctions

Overfishing is a problem because Bluefin Tuna is responsible for keeping population numbers in
check, thus creating detrimental effects if the biodiversity were to be threaten and the ecosystem
were to become imbalanced. Furthermore, the Bluefin Tuna have fallen victim to becoming
targeted and non targeted species by fisherman. Purse seine fishing is the number one fishing
method used to catch the Tuna. However, long line fishing also poses as a threat because they are
unintentionally caught in by catches, creating an unnecessary waste. In addition, studies
demonstrate that Japan has the largest number of catches. Japan s economy has the most to loose if
they do not protect their valued specie. They have made little efforts for change and the ISC
concluded that current levels of fishing have now become unsustainable. It has been concluded that
this stock will continue to decline in 2018 (Nickson, 2018). This specie has fallen a tragedy of the
commons model due to individuals trying to gain the greatest benefit, without realizing what the
long term effects would be when the demands of the resource overwhelms the supply. This will hurt
the well being of multiple societies, and most important, the well being of the Bluefin Tuna. The
ISC stated that these species need new management plans to ensure it s sustainability. With
conservation efforts of the IATTC and WCPFC, there will be a plan for rebuilding spawning
populations, placing a

Descriptive Concert
Up until this moment, I had never been to a concert from my favorite band. This concert would
be one of the best moments of my life. The concert took place at the Oregon state fairgrounds in
Salem, Oregon. It was during the time when the annual state fair was taking place. The sky was

faces just by standing outside in the humid air. Walking into the fairgrounds dirt, and musty smells
surrounded the senses. Looking to the left and right, crowds of people were surrounding barn
animals to be able to pet and feed them. The strong scent of manure settled in our noses and pushed
us to walk farther into the fair at a quickened pace. We walked through an area that resembled a
saturday market. Booths were set up and the people inside them smiled brightly at us with clearly
hidden intentions behind their smiles. Sounds of people chattering amongst themselves floated
through the air making it hard to hear the person standing next to you. As we rushed through the
crowdpeople cut in front of us causing our group to get split up several times. Looking above us
a fairlift was moving people from far ends of the park. Legs could be seen swing forward and
back as they enjoyed staring at the ants below them. We rushed forward to get to the amphitheater
as quickly as we could. When we arrived at the amphitheatrewe are forced to slow to a sluggish

The Impact Of Media On The Reception, Perception And...
This essay I will attempt to demonstrate the fundamental influence that media has on its audience
in regards to the exercise of their democratic rights and obligations. I am going to analyse two
socio political phenomena, both prove the relevance of the media on the reception, perception and
comprehension of information, crucial for voters to make their democratic decisions. For this
purpose I will first depict/ describe the interaction between the media and the Argentine
presidencies of Nestor Kirchner (NK) and his wife, Cristina FernГЎndez de Kirchner (CFK), in
power between 2003 and 2015, detailing the hostile strategies they led so as to manipulate the
disclosure of information and the public opinion. I will then briefly contrast the Argentinean
phenomenon with the one taking place in the United Kingdom during the BREXIT campaign;
demonstrating how voters fell victim of an irresponsible performance both from the part of
politicians and from the media, who both built up divisiveness and secession rather than
consensus. Finally, after weighing/ considering research facts, I will present my own personal
perspective, drawing a conclusion of the situation as a whole when assessed under the light of the
theoretical work of D. Croteau and W. Hoynes in their book The Business of Media. Croteau

The Pros And Cons Of Drinking
In lieu of having a safe, supervised place to drink in moderation, college students have no choice
but to conceal their drinking, behind the closed doors of [dorms] and fraternity basements,
(Brown). Captain Yawn from the University of South Florida, Saint Petersburg, stated that,
unlawful drinking obviously does take place in the dorm rooms, even though there are no bars
on campus to host alcohol related events. Hidden drinking often occurs on college campuses,
and the drinking age of 21 makes monitoring illegal drinking much more difficult for college
deans. For instance, at a college party, where most students look similar in age, it can be nearly
impossible to differentiate between who is drinking legally and who is not. As a result, the
enforcement of the drinking age is limited ( Underage Drinking Laws on Campus ). Captain
Robert Yawn also stated that, Statutorily, it [lowering the drinking age] would obviously be easier
because you would eliminate roughly 75% of the potential offender population, which makes
regulating drinking on campus simpler. Many college deans and presidents have expressed their
disapproval for the higher drinking age. A main reason many college deans disagree with a
drinking age of 21 is that punishing students for underage drinking results in students hiding their
drinking instead of limiting it ( Underage Drinking Laws on Campus ). In fact, a Resident Assistant

Any art medium can be utilized to tell a story or evoke emotion in a viewer. Artistry is unique in
that it is purely visual and can be left to interpretation if the artist chooses to stay ambiguous in the
message they are trying to convey. As an artist, I am always trying to analyze the meanings behind
famous works of art, whether those meanings happen to be incidental or purposeful. So, when
contemporary artist, Enrique Chagoya expressed his adoration for the social commentary expressed

It should come as no surprise that Chagoya s style was heavily influenced by the late eighteenth
century artist. In his Met featurette, Chagoya mentions that he has a background in political
economy that has inspired him to add social commentary to his art. This inspiration original
stemmed from his love for Francisco Goya s art pieces, especially his series of sketches titled,
Los Caprichos. He mentions how Goya s art is like a window to the world of the late 1700 s
(Chagoya, The Artist Project ). What is so magical about these sketches though is that the
sketches are not representative of a specific time or place which allows the messages conveyed
to still ring true. The figures in his sketches are metaphorical and represent themes such as greed,
vanity, and fear. Chagoya believes that we are meant to see a piece of ourselves reflected in these
figures but the dark and humorous style of the sketches keep the message from damning us. His
overall message in this series seems to be that we, as humans, shouldn t aim to appear good but we
should instead make the world a better experience for

The Role Of Role Portrayal And Facade Is Essential For...
Roles are played depending on the audience set before the actor, who must decide the

which the actor feels as though they have control towards an end goal they wish to achieve.
However, the roles are not always met in the way expected and the traits in the role an individual
plays results in either personal destruction or salvation. In Shakespeare s Henry IV, the
importance of role portrayal and facades is essential for Prince Henry/Hal, King Henry and

The Problem Of Homeless Homelessness
Do you know that homelessness is an occurring matter in Australia, a country that is considered a
developed country? In fact, there are more than 100,000 people that are having the problem of no
roof to give themselves shelter. Homelessness is such an important issue to be worried about,
because as a society, we should look after for our surrounding people. Everyone needs a shelter for
safety purposes, this is one of the essentials of human needs. This essay will talk about how system
thinking could help to smooth out the wicked problem.
In order to talk about system thinking, first, we need to understand what systems are in the context
of sustainability. Every problem or situation is made from several elements and parts, they are
interconnected and affect each other. Any changes towards the parts will change how the whole
system works. System thinking is an alternative way to look at a problem, it focuses on the big
picture instead of the individual parts to solve complicated problems. It focuses on how a small
change towards a single part interacts with another part towards affecting the picture (Aronson,
n.d.). Homelessness is a global problem where there is not an ultimate solution to solve this
problem. The most obvious way to define homelessness is the absence of shelter, secondly is
define as people that have no control or access to a social relation. There are about 100 million
people that are homeless worldwide. According to The World Bank and The Human development

Extra-Mitochondrial Family Structure
Many physiological processes in the cells require the participation of both intra and extra
mitochondrial enzyme reactions. A link between mitochondria and cytosol is provided by a
group of proteins known as the mitochondrial carriers (MCs) family (Arco Satrustegui, 2005; F.
Palmieri, 2004). MCs comprise a family of about 40 50 proteins, depending on the organism, and
provide the main communication between mitochondrial matrix and extra mitochondrial spaces by
transporting a wide range of metabolites, nucleotides and cofactors. In humans, MCs are encoded
by the nuclear SLC25 family genes and are membrane embedded proteins that have to be
imported into the i.m.m. (F. Palmieri, 2004). MCs are structurally related proteins of about 30
KDa that shared a tripartite structure with six hydrophobic domains. The analysis of the
mitochondrial ADP/ATP carrier sequence, the first primary structure of a mitochondrial solute
carrier to be reported (Aquila et al., 1982), established that the whole structure, of around 300
amino acids, could be divided into three tandemly repeated homologous domains, each of about
100 residues in length (Saraste Walker, 1982) (Fig.1). Subsequently, this pattern of homologous

especially present along the Pacific coast of the United States. However, this event did not give the
government or the whites the right to discriminate and violate the rights of loyal hard working
Japanese Americans. Prior to World War II, there were quite a bit of Japanese descendants living
along the west coast. The Japanese traveled to America hoping to better themselves like starting
new jobs and perhaps get a good education. Some immigrants... Show more content on

government. Due to the pressure and the state of panic from state leaders, President Roosevelt,
signed the Executive order 9066 on February 19, 1942. The Executive order resulted in the forceful
internment of about 110,000 individuals of Japanese descent. When the government gave the
internment order, they rounded up and imprisoned the Japanese. In 1942, 110,000 Japanese
Americans living on the West Coast of the United States were moved to ten internment camps. In
excess of two thirds of the Japanese American who were forced into internment camps, had never
shown any form of betrayal and most were citizens of the United States. The Japanese were
mandated to abandon their homes and also leave their jobs. In some cases families were torn apart,
put into different camps and left wondering when they might see each other

Case Two Element Bars2 Essay
1. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of Jonathan Miller and Element Bars.
Strengths
Strengths
Jonathan Miller is the founder and owner of the company called Element Bars. He has a
professional background in venture capital, which means that he has experience with
entrepreneurial endeavors and they risk they entail. Miller has successfully started other businesses
in the past, beginning his entrepreneurial career in 1999. The skills he gained during these
endeavors has won him a widely recognized business plan award, as well as the money to start
Element Bars. Miller has impressive entrepreneurial acumen, presentation skills, and negotiation
skills. He is incredibly passionate about Element Bars, and believes strongly in the potential ...

The company s business model is comprised of 80% sales from online orders from individual
customers, and 20% from wholesale orders from corporate customers such as gyms, hotels, spas,
and wellness centers. Individual customers generally buy one to three dozen bars at a time, while
the corporate customers tend to buy in bulk then resell the co branded bar. (Element Bars, n.d.)
Currently, there are very few competitors in the energy bar market that offer the same unique value
proposition as Element Bars. As Miller points out in the case, there are few companies that are able
to produce at the small (individual) scale that his company can.
One of the first options that an entrepreneur will explore for financing is debt, usually through a
bank loan. Before appearing on Shark Tank, Miller applied for a $40,000 business loan, but was
rejected. Another financing option is a line of credit, but this can be costly as a result of fees and
interest payments. For either of these options, Element Bars would almost always be rejected
because the company has very little assets or collateral.
Venture capitalis another option for a start up business, however, these types of companies tend to
invest more in high growth potential companies like those in the technology industry. Miller could
also approach his corporate customers with a proposal for their investment. He could offer interest
in his company in exchange for capital. (Shein, 2011)
Miller could also look to his family

Contractile Force Report
2. Figure 1 for Exercise 1, shows a positive linear tread, when stimulus intensity (V) increases the
contractile force (N) also increases. As the stimulus intensity increases more motor units are
recruited. To emphasize, when you have a stronger stimulus the more motor unit recruitment will
get excited and thus more will contract. Physiologically, a skeletal musclemembrane is getting
depolarized by a stimulus. The depolarization stimulus will allow for Na+ to flow into the cell
which allows the action potential to flow down into the T tubule. The DHP receptor will open,
which is connected to the RyR Ca2+ release channel to open. This allows for calcium to flow into
the cytoplasm from sarcoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion binds to troponin which allows
tropomyosin to move off the actin myosinbinding sites. The myosin will bind to the actin binding
site and cross bridge cycling will take place causing a muscle contraction. Therefore, the more
depolarized the cells are (from a higher stimulus intensity), the more calcium will be in the cell to
bind to troponin, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship observed shows that as the stimulus interval decreases in time the contractile force
increase. Mechanistically, when there is less time for the muscle to recover from the contraction,
not all of the calcium is unbound from the troponin, which will keep the actin myosin sites open for
power stroking. If another stimulus reaches the cell before the muscle can recover, then there will
be even more calcium in the cytoplasm, increasing more sites for cross bridges. If the stimulus is
far enough apart it will lead to an unfused tetanus, meaning that there is a slight relax between
contractions. The difference between this and exercise 1 is that exercise one is one stimulus and a
change of intensity, which increases the motor unit recruitment. Exercise 3, is a consistent intensity
of stimulus (recruiting the same motor units each time) but a change in how quickly each stimulus is

The Theme Of Guilt In A Three Dog Life
A Three Dog Life is about Abigail Thomas trying to cope with her husband s traumatic head
injury, that happened because she let Rich walk Harry alone one night; which makes him acts
differently to the things that were so familiar to him. We read along as Thomas tries out new
coping mechanism; like buying a new house, new dogs and buying paintings. The purpose of this
essay is to take an analytical approach to how guiltis an important theme A Three DogLife. The
story starts off with Thomas recalling the night of the accident, this is a good opener it pulls the
reader in and peaks their curiosity. It hits the pathos appeal hard because she is pulling us in, to
find out what happened to her husband and how it affected her. As we read... Show more content on

She knew that because of her these things were happening to him. She let the guilt eat at her as
she watches him struggle. She talks about how he has good days and how he has bad days, she
can t let all the bad days get to her and she learns patience, and enjoy the good days. She used other
coping mechanisms, her only one wasn t learning to be patient with Rich. She also took up more
expensive habits, like the dogs, they did help her but it was an expensive venture that she never
talks about in the book, which could play into how financially stable they were but my paper isn
t to speak on that. She got into outsider art, which is a way that people who have suffered brain
injuries express themselves. She felt as though the painting that they did could help her find
comfort in her life. The last coping Mechanism was buying the house to be close to Rich. She
talks about how the trip back and forth was stressful, so decided to just be close to him in
general. This can be a form of Logos because anyone who ha gone through something like this,
you want to be close to the person at all times which is reasonable. The last way I will be talking
about guilt is how Abigail feels when they tell her that Rich will need around the clock care for
the rest of his life and his death. A section in this book talks about when they tell her that he needs
around the clock care, due to his injury being so bad. She knows that because of her, he ll never be

Buy Nothing Day Essay
Could you go twenty four hours without purchasing any goods? In Canada in 1992, a day was
organized to increase awareness of excessive consumerism, called Buy Nothing Day. It urged
citizens to not purchase any goods within a twenty four hour period. Since 1992, this day has been
held yearly in many other nations. Citizens have conflicting viewpoints on the role of Buy Nothing
Dayas to whether it is successful or unsuccessful, however I believe it is unsuccessful for countries
to implement. While annual Buy Nothing Day increases awareness to excessive consumerism and
exposes the environmental and ethical consequences of overconsumption, it is unrealistic,
negatively affects small and large businesses, and is difficult for people of all... Show more content

Annual Buy Nothing Day is as unrealistic as a unicorn and lacks practicality for the general
public. Additionally, Buy Nothing Day effects both small and large businesses negatively. Many
people accept the idea of this annual day easily and do not think about the negative effects to
businesses around the country. However, culturally, some people are similar to the frog in the short
story The Parable of the Frog in the Well from Sri RamakrishnaParamahamsa because they are
unwilling to accept new ideas like the idea of yearly Buy Nothing Day. Citizens should not feel
obligated to accept this new idea because of its effects to businesses. Most businesses rely on
daily income to keep their doors open and to pay their employees. If a business were to lose a
day s worth of income, it could cost the business tons of money. Some businesses would have to
determine if it would be worth closing their stores for a day. Small businesses would be
negatively affected the most since they are dependent on daily incomes to pay their employees
and keep their business running smoothly. The industry of online purchases has also become very
popular in recent years. This annual day would require online shopping to stop for a twenty four
hour period. It would be very difficult to discourage people from shopping online or monitoring
their shopping habits on Buy Nothing Day. It would cause an inconvenience for people of all kinds.

  • 2. Ancient Greek Vase Analysis Perhaps one of the most well known staples of ancient Greek art is the vase constructed from clay and decorated with black glaze to depict culturally relevant scenes, stories, and events, ancient Greek pottery is instrumental to our modern understanding of ancient Greek society. Thanks to the sturdiness of the fired terra cotta from which these pieces are made, archaeologists have been able to uncover a plethora of these vases and vessels and analyze them to gather otherwise unknowable information about the time in which they were made. The vases are most commonly categorized by shape and by the era in which they were made several different artistic styles and movements are documented via the decorations and art on these vases. On the front, typical of all Panathenaic amphorae, is an image of Athena holding a spear, featuring a limited but still visually striking use of color. Dark red and white adorn her apparel, helmet, and shield. Her skin is also colored with a whiteish tone this detail is perhaps a tradition left over from the much earlier Minoan civilization, whose art made the visual distinction of female from male with lighter skin tones. Incised lines are used to depict intricate decorations on her tunic. In this panel, Athena is flanked on either side by Doric columns, an inscription running up the side of one, and roosters atop both. The significance of the roosters remains unknown, but some have theorized that the presence of the birds could have something to do with the Greek word for rooster, alektruon, which means defender, while others suggest that they are symbolic of Zeus, Athena s father. The neck and the foot of the vase are decorated on both sides. The back of the vase displays a scene from a stadion footrace, the event for which this prize would have been awarded. All 5 athletes in the panel assume the heroically nude state that was more than common in Greek society, and detailed musculature is delineated with the use of incised lines. As with Athena on the other side, Minoan influence is evident in the scene, evidenced by the pinched waists if the runners. Beyond the focal points of both scenes, no details are used to indicate their surrounding landscape, in a very similar fashion to the Berlin painter s style. Also like the Berlin painter, there is evidence of perspective, as the athlete s legs and arms overlap each other to provide a sense of relative space, however, this detail disappears on the other side of the vase, as Athena s spear runs behind her head, contrary to the position it is suggested to take by the way she ... • 3. War Of The Worlds Comparison Essay Old films for new The films I have chosen to compare are `The War of the Worlds which are both in different era`s. The original movie was created in 1953 and the latest version of the movie was created in 2005. One of the first things I noticed was that in the older version of War of the Worlds, the mise en scene is a lot darker, especially at the beginning of the film when the first alien lands on earth. This creates a feeling of coldness and loneliness amongst the cast. This is a completely different concept with Spielberg s version of the film, as he chooses a New York City mise en scene, which is filled with a much faster pace of life as there is traffic and people everywhere. It also introduces all sorts of drama, as the city itself is a very busy place. In the 2005 version the narrator of the film that explains how the earth got invaded and what it is invaded by is the actor Morgan Freeman. Morgan narrates the film in a calm but serious manner to show the extent of what s going on. On the 1953 version ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Raymond Carver s So Much Water So Close To Home Known for his Dirty Realism writing style (Rundle, 2007), Raymond Carver wrote about the tribulations of the American Working Class. In his short story, So Much Water So Close To Home (1975), Claire s husband, Stuart, and his three friends go on a fishing trip, only to discover the body of a young woman floating in the river shortly after arriving. Instead of contacting the authorities immediately they continue to fish beside the body until some two days later. Carver examines what men owe women and what the living owe the dead (Byrnes, 2006). Director Ray Lawrenceand his screenwriter Beatrix Christian attempt to develop these themes further in their 2006 Australian adaptation, Jindabyne. While there have been many alterations to the narrative, the film still closely revolves around Carver s concept of responsibility. Although both Carver and Lawrence have explored societal and moral issues, Jindabyne s more modern observations may further develop the representation of gender and culture and, more importantly, preserve the intricate ethical pillars of Carver s short. So Much Water So Close To Home very closely looks at the innate polarity in men and women s reactions when faced with both pain and pleasure, and it is this separation in behaviour that drives both versions of the narrative. As Claire narrates the short story, Carver creates a bias in its telling. She explicitly implies that every action of the men is inherently and intentionally evil. With Claire s ... We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing. Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of overabundance and the freedom it affords us. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher quality and easier life. One thing Legalists fear is disorder in society; that is why they believe order is important. Though it was a difficult decision for him to make, it is still not the right one. At one point, Frankie talks to Father Horvak and expresses his conflicted feelings. Father Horvak advises Frankie to leave Maggie with God, since it is wrong to kill a human being even under the circumstances. In his perspective, Frankie justifies the act by saying that it is wrong for him to let her suffer any longer. He makes an individual decision that goes against his faith and kills Maggie, just to end her suffering. It might have seemed like a good decision at the time since it would end Maggie s suffering, but he still killed her, which is wrong. The decision that Frankie made had a huge impact on his relationship with God, self and others. First, after helping Maggie die, Frankie felt a disconnection from God. Compared to today, it still has that same effect. It s inspiring and changing society in many different ways. Art has a power of expressing what we humans can t explain. It brings out a feeling in all of us that s unimaginable and unexplainable. Religion has served as a primary subject matter of art. However, there are many views when it comes to the relationship between humans and God. Three artists from three different time periods explore the comparisons between art and religion. All together there are five steps which are: Practitioners should understand that their behaviour affects children. Parents and practitioners should display assertive responses. When disciplining a child, it is important that they have a plan with rules and consequences. Within this disciplining plan practitioners should explain this to them. Adults should tell children to behaviour properly. Practitioners should recognise when the child is being good and you should approve of this behaviour. • 27. Environmental Effects Of Overfishing The ocean is one of the largest sources of food and income for countries all across the globe. As the fishing industry and human population grow, more and more resources are being taken out of the ocean every year. If this process continues without any type of new regulation, our oceans supply of resources will quickly start depleting. Without a sustainable output from our oceans, millions of people will be losing income that they thought they could rely on forever. While most people are not aware of this problem, over the past fifty years overfishing has developed into a huge environmental issue that could have catastrophic global effects on us in the future if left untreated. According to WorldWildlife.org, More than 85 percent of the world s fisheries have been pushed to or beyond their biological limits and are in need of strict management plans to restore them (WWL.org). This statistic shows that most of our oceans resources are being overused and depleted. Some of the the most important fishspecies, for example, the bluefin tuna, have been exploited to the point that their population s survival is at risk. The overfishing of top predators disrupts marine ecosystems and food chains, leaving a large quantity of smaller populations. This type of imbalance can be very dangerous to the oceans ecosystems by throwing off the natural order of predators. While animals in the eyes of the law are seen as property, this does not mean that man should be cruel to animals. They are beings that should be respected. In a perfect world, circuses would ban the use of entertainment animals. When one buys a ticket to visit the circus, they are contributing to animal cruelty. Circuses use violence to train the animals, so that they can do demeaning acts. It is not natural for elephants to balance themselves on a ball, or for tigers to jump through rings of fire. For this purpose I will first depict/ describe the interaction between the media and the Argentine presidencies of Nestor Kirchner (NK) and his wife, Cristina FernГЎndez de Kirchner (CFK), in power between 2003 and 2015, detailing the hostile strategies they led so as to manipulate the disclosure of information and the public opinion. Finally, after weighing/ considering research facts, I will present my own personal perspective, drawing a conclusion of the situation as a whole when assessed under the light of the theoretical work of D. The Pros And Cons Of Drinking In lieu of having a safe, supervised place to drink in moderation, college students have no choice but to conceal their drinking, behind the closed doors of [dorms] and fraternity basements, (Brown). Captain Yawn from the University of South Florida, Saint Petersburg, stated that, unlawful drinking obviously does take place in the dorm rooms, even though there are no bars on campus to host alcohol related events. Hidden drinking often occurs on college campuses, and the drinking age of 21 makes monitoring illegal drinking much more difficult for college deans. For instance, at a college party, where most students look similar in age, it can be nearly impossible to differentiate between who is drinking legally and who is not. As a result, the enforcement of the drinking age is limited ( Underage Drinking Laws on Campus ). Captain Robert Yawn also stated that, Statutorily, it [lowering the drinking age] would obviously be easier because you would eliminate roughly 75% of the potential offender population, which makes regulating drinking on campus simpler. Many college deans and presidents have expressed their disapproval for the higher drinking age. A main reason many college deans disagree with a drinking age of 21 is that punishing students for underage drinking results in students hiding their drinking instead of limiting it ( Underage Drinking Laws on Campus ). In fact, there are more than 100,000 people that are having the problem of no roof to give themselves shelter. Homelessness is such an important issue to be worried about, because as a society, we should look after for our surrounding people. Everyone needs a shelter for safety purposes, this is one of the essentials of human needs. This essay will talk about how system thinking could help to smooth out the wicked problem. In order to talk about system thinking, first, we need to understand what systems are in the context of sustainability. Every problem or situation is made from several elements and parts, they are interconnected and affect each other. Any changes towards the parts will change how the whole system works. System thinking is an alternative way to look at a problem, it focuses on the big picture instead of the individual parts to solve complicated problems. It focuses on how a small change towards a single part interacts with another part towards affecting the picture (Aronson, n.d.). Homelessness is a global problem where there is not an ultimate solution to solve this problem. A link between mitochondria and cytosol is provided by a group of proteins known as the mitochondrial carriers (MCs) family (Arco Satrustegui, 2005; F. Palmieri, 2004). MCs comprise a family of about 40 50 proteins, depending on the organism, and provide the main communication between mitochondrial matrix and extra mitochondrial spaces by transporting a wide range of metabolites, nucleotides and cofactors. In humans, MCs are encoded by the nuclear SLC25 family genes and are membrane embedded proteins that have to be imported into the i.m.m. (F. Palmieri, 2004). MCs are structurally related proteins of about 30 KDa that shared a tripartite structure with six hydrophobic domains. The analysis of the mitochondrial ADP/ATP carrier sequence, the first primary structure of a mitochondrial solute carrier to be reported (Aquila et al., 1982), established that the whole structure, of around 300 amino acids, could be divided into three tandemly repeated homologous domains, each of about 100 residues in length (Saraste Walker, 1982) (Fig.1). The company s business model is comprised of 80% sales from online orders from individual customers, and 20% from wholesale orders from corporate customers such as gyms, hotels, spas, and wellness centers. Individual customers generally buy one to three dozen bars at a time, while the corporate customers tend to buy in bulk then resell the co branded bar. (Element Bars, n.d.) Currently, there are very few competitors in the energy bar market that offer the same unique value proposition as Element Bars. As Miller points out in the case, there are few companies that are able to produce at the small (individual) scale that his company can. One of the first options that an entrepreneur will explore for financing is debt, usually through a bank loan. Before appearing on Shark Tank, Miller applied for a $40,000 business loan, but was rejected. Another financing option is a line of credit, but this can be costly as a result of fees and interest payments. For either of these options, Element Bars would almost always be rejected because the company has very little assets or collateral. Venture capitalis another option for a start up business, however, these types of companies tend to invest more in high growth potential companies like those in the technology industry. Miller could also approach his corporate customers with a proposal for their investment. He could offer interest in his company in exchange for capital. (Shein, 2011) Miller could also look to his family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Contractile Force Report 2. Figure 1 for Exercise 1, shows a positive linear tread, when stimulus intensity (V) increases the contractile force (N) also increases. As the stimulus intensity increases more motor units are recruited. To emphasize, when you have a stronger stimulus the more motor unit recruitment will get excited and thus more will contract. Physiologically, a skeletal musclemembrane is getting depolarized by a stimulus. The depolarization stimulus will allow for Na+ to flow into the cell which allows the action potential to flow down into the T tubule. The DHP receptor will open, which is connected to the RyR Ca2+ release channel to open. This allows for calcium to flow into the cytoplasm from sarcoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion binds to troponin which allows tropomyosin to move off the actin myosinbinding sites. The myosin will bind to the actin binding site and cross bridge cycling will take place causing a muscle contraction. Therefore, the more depolarized the cells are (from a higher stimulus intensity), the more calcium will be in the cell to bind to troponin, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The relationship observed shows that as the stimulus interval decreases in time the contractile force increase. Mechanistically, when there is less time for the muscle to recover from the contraction, not all of the calcium is unbound from the troponin, which will keep the actin myosin sites open for power stroking. If another stimulus reaches the cell before the muscle can recover, then there will be even more calcium in the cytoplasm, increasing more sites for cross bridges. If the stimulus is far enough apart it will lead to an unfused tetanus, meaning that there is a slight relax between contractions. The difference between this and exercise 1 is that exercise one is one stimulus and a change of intensity, which increases the motor unit recruitment. Exercise 3, is a consistent intensity of stimulus (recruiting the same motor units each time) but a change in how quickly each stimulus is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Theme Of Guilt In A Three Dog Life A Three Dog Life is about Abigail Thomas trying to cope with her husband s traumatic head injury, that happened because she let Rich walk Harry alone one night; which makes him acts differently to the things that were so familiar to him. We read along as Thomas tries out new coping mechanism; like buying a new house, new dogs and buying paintings. The purpose of this essay is to take an analytical approach to how guiltis an important theme A Three DogLife. The story starts off with Thomas recalling the night of the accident, this is a good opener it pulls the reader in and peaks their curiosity. It hits the pathos appeal hard because she is pulling us in, to find out what happened to her husband and how it affected her. As we read... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She knew that because of her these things were happening to him. She let the guilt eat at her as she watches him struggle. She talks about how he has good days and how he has bad days, she can t let all the bad days get to her and she learns patience, and enjoy the good days. She used other coping mechanisms, her only one wasn t learning to be patient with Rich. She also took up more expensive habits, like the dogs, they did help her but it was an expensive venture that she never talks about in the book, which could play into how financially stable they were but my paper isn t to speak on that. She got into outsider art, which is a way that people who have suffered brain injuries express themselves. She felt as though the painting that they did could help her find comfort in her life. The last coping Mechanism was buying the house to be close to Rich. She talks about how the trip back and forth was stressful, so decided to just be close to him in general. This can be a form of Logos because anyone who ha gone through something like this, you want to be close to the person at all times which is reasonable. The last way I will be talking about guilt is how Abigail feels when they tell her that Rich will need around the clock care for the rest of his life and his death. A section in this book talks about when they tell her that he needs around the clock care, due to his injury being so bad. She knows that because of her, he ll never be home ... • 49. Buy Nothing Day Essay Could you go twenty four hours without purchasing any goods? In Canada in 1992, a day was organized to increase awareness of excessive consumerism, called Buy Nothing Day. It urged citizens to not purchase any goods within a twenty four hour period. Since 1992, this day has been held yearly in many other nations. Citizens have conflicting viewpoints on the role of Buy Nothing Dayas to whether it is successful or unsuccessful, however I believe it is unsuccessful for countries to implement. While annual Buy Nothing Day increases awareness to excessive consumerism and exposes the environmental and ethical consequences of overconsumption, it is unrealistic, negatively affects small and large businesses, and is difficult for people of all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Annual Buy Nothing Day is as unrealistic as a unicorn and lacks practicality for the general public. Additionally, Buy Nothing Day effects both small and large businesses negatively. Many people accept the idea of this annual day easily and do not think about the negative effects to businesses around the country. However, culturally, some people are similar to the frog in the short story The Parable of the Frog in the Well from Sri RamakrishnaParamahamsa because they are unwilling to accept new ideas like the idea of yearly Buy Nothing Day. Citizens should not feel obligated to accept this new idea because of its effects to businesses. Most businesses rely on daily income to keep their doors open and to pay their employees. If a business were to lose a day s worth of income, it could cost the business tons of money. Some businesses would have to determine if it would be worth closing their stores for a day. Small businesses would be negatively affected the most since they are dependent on daily incomes to pay their employees and keep their business running smoothly. The industry of online purchases has also become very popular in recent years. This annual day would require online shopping to stop for a twenty four hour period. It would be very difficult to discourage people from shopping online or monitoring their shopping habits on Buy Nothing Day. It would cause an inconvenience for people of all kinds. ...
