Oedipus Hubris Prompts
In Aristotle The Poetics, Aristotle determines that in order for a play to be a tragedy the main character
must experience a change of fortune, and provide katharsis for the audience. Throughout Oedipus
Rex, Oedipus hubris arouses pity and fear from the audience and draws emphasis to his fall from
grace (Aristotle The Poetics). Although the outcome of Oedipus Rex would remain the same, Oedipus
hubris prompts the audience to reflect on their own life and emphasizes his fall from king to beggar to
allow katharsis. It is known to the audience that Oedipus was adopted by Polybus, king of Corinth.
Oedipus hears about Polybus death and triumphs in escaping his fate, proclaiming, those prophetic
oracles, they re worthless (Episode III.971 972).

Dalai Lam The Reincarnation Of Avalokitesvara
The 14th and current Dalai Lama is known across the globe as being one of the most impactful peace
makers and spiritual leaders to have ever existed. I selected the Dalai Lama to be my architect of hope
because the very core of the belief in the Dalai Lama is that he believed to be the reincarnation of
Avalokitesvara, an important Buddhist deity and the personification of compassion (biography.com).
He has also gone to places all over the world to participate in conferences and presentations to help
teach people how he believe we can make the world a better place. To me compassion is one of the
most important qualities a person/people can have because if they can use empathy and the understand
other people s suffering then maybe people can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

People s Republic of China invaded and took over Tibet. They wanted the Dalai Lama out of Tibet and

Apparition In Macbeth
Anticipating Macbeth s arrival, the Witches get ready, gathering ingredients for what Macbeth so
desires. Wandering up to the witches Macbeth calls out to the Witches, I conjure you, by that which
you profess/ Howe re you come to know it answer me. (4.1.51 52) With this the Witches tell him if he
wants something, to tell them directly. And once he does, they conjure up three apparitions, each
saying something different to Macbeth. The first, come out as head in armour, proclaiming, Macbeth!
Macbeth! Macbeth! beware/ Macduff, Beware the Thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough. (4.1.78 80)
Then the second one, a child covered in blood, proclaims, Be bloody, bold, and resolute: laugh to

Castro Rise To Power Essay
Analyze the methods used by Castro to obtain power and to what extent did Castro follow the aims of
his declared ideology?

(Word Count:)
After centuries of Spanish occupation in Cuba, Cuban resistance to Spanish rule grew resulting in the
Spanish American war which ended in Spain renouncing all rights to Cuba. After a few years of US
military rule in Cuba, Cuba was finally granted formal independence in 1902. During this time period
before the establishment of Fidel Castro s rule, discontent began to develop with Cuban citizens being
resentful of the system of governance in Cuba in which the US government held a great deal of power.
This combined with the fact that Cuba had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After leading an attack on the Moncada Barracks, a military garrison, during which many of the
insurrectionists were capture and killed, Castro was put on trial where he delivered his defense
(Daynes 2). Although this attack had been a failure, the trial gave Castro an opportunity to deliver
what is arguably his most famous speech, a four hour long speech that was later reconstructed and
published. This speech outlined the goals of the 26th of July Movement, the organization that
eventually overthrew the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship in Cuba, and allowed him to become a focus
of attention for the public. Furthermore, as Castro recounted the attack s aftermath, he described how
his comrades, who he claims were courageous and pure, were brutally tortured and killed by Batista s
forces (Daynes 3). In doing so, he portrays his fallen comrades as heroic martyrs who were
mercilessly killed by Batista s men. Castro was also able to portray himself as a victim of the Batista
regime who was fighting for the interests of the public. His speech thrust him into the limelight and
allowed for him to enhance his public image, gain support, and ultimately obtain power. Castro was
also able to promote his revolution and ideas during an interview with The New York Times after
which people started calling him a symbol of opposition to

The Song Walk This Way `` By The Rock Band Aerosmith And...
During the 1970s, Rock and Roll dominated the music culture and charts with some of the best hits
from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and others, while at the same time early Hip Hop were
starting up with artists such as Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. The genre stayed an underground
phenomenon throughout the 1970s and fairly unpopular with the white audience of Rock and Roll,
which held back its appearance in mainstream music until the mid 1980s. In this paper, I compare the
differences in the arrangements of the song Walk This Way by the rock band Aerosmith and a cover
done by the Hip Hop group Run D.M.C, and explore the music culture of the 1970s and 1980s which
influence the original song and its cover version. I argue that Run DMC s progressive crossover cover
of Walk This Way by Aerosmith took down the wall separating Rock and Roll and Hip Hop,
legitimizing the genre s acceptability and propelling it into popular mainstream music. The 1970s, also
known as the Me Decade , was a time of diversifying music. The Beatles had broken up, Jimi Hendrix
and Janis Joplin had died from drug overdose, Led Zeppelin was Britain s most popular group, The
Rolling Stones weren t active, and rock roll was branching out into various popular subgenres such as:
Country Rock, Glam Rock, Progressive Rock, Punk Rock, Soft Rock, and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.
Hard rock and Heavy Metal were interchangeable terms during the time because of their similarity;

Freedom In America Today
When martin Luther King Jr. proclaimed to the world that he had a dream, people stopped and realized
it didn t have to be just a dream. People didn t just listen to what this leader had to say, they actually
heard him, and they understood him. Society today reflects the hundreds of peaceful, or sometimes not
so peaceful, protests held by leaders of our past and present that were heard and understood. Without
peaceful protest to laws, segregation may still be in America. Same sex marriage may not be legal.
Women may not have as many rights as they do now. Freedom today in America, for example, is
different than freedom fifty years ago. Freedom today includes all peoples instead of a select few.
Resistance to laws brought this free society farther ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These protests were not large enough or dangerous enough to be heard. On the news these days all that
is seen is angry protesters. Angry about rights being taken away, angry about President Trump, and
angry about their freedoms being restricted, but not every protester is looking to destroy cities.
Peaceful marches and protests lead to a stronger society. They show that no matter what the odds,
somebody will be there for support and, ultimately, this form of resistance band societies together.
Peaceful protesters are simply standing up for what they believe in and isn t that what America is
about? The free societies Americans live in today allow for freedom of speech and it is this free speech
that can change a nation. When these protests get out of hand is when they can negatively affect
society. When protesters start smashing windows and setting cars on fire it can make people afraid of
other protesters. These people acting immaturely put a negative connotation on the word protester.
People need to understand that protesting should simply be another word for peaceful resistance and
not destruction or terror. Even though peaceful resistance benefits free societies, one cannot forget
where they came from and how

An Investigation into Related Job Stress and Job Satisfaction
This research is based on a study done at Northern Caribbean University to investigate the relation
between job satisfaction and job stress among teachers. According to French Caplan (1972) job stress
is as a result of a misfit between an individual and their environment.
Research topic: An investigation into related job stress and job satisfaction
Job Stress Among Teachers
Related job stress and job satisfaction have been a topic researched by several scholars and now by
me. The issue of stress in the teaching profession as caused a serious concern for both faculty and
administrators (Schuster, 1986). The increasing stress have been creating profound impact on female
teachers (Lease, 1999), and new faculty members (Oslen, 1993). ... Show more content on

Some researchers have also attributed poor behavior of students as a significant contributor to the
daily stress teachers face (Geving, 2007). When one think of teaching one can also think of it as a
stressful occupation that many present teachers are quitting more than ever (Smith, 2006).
Mastery of task management skills have been found as a critically component that new teachers take a
while to grasp which in turn fosters a recipe for stress (Brown, 2005). Researchers like Cox (2007)
have found weak administrations and school violence as a major factor which lead to overwhelming
stress and departure of many teachers. This finding was also supported by Smith (2006). Smith s
findings indicated that teaches are stressed because they don t feel safe in the environment in which
they are expected to spend most of their lives. As job commitment increase the level of potential stress
decreases (Forrest, 2006). Nevertheless, if there is a low level of commitment then the possibility of
being stressed will increase. Researches like Maslach and Jackson (1996) have intended to three major
factors that contributes to teachers being burnout. These factors are subjective accomplishments,
emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.
Job Satisfaction Among Teachers
There have been several investigations to create an understanding between job satisfaction and the
teaching profession. In various studies related to job satisfaction for teachers

The Muslim-Christian Response To The Crusades
Rich in delightful episodes and dramatic events, spread over two centuries and three continents, the
Crusades were one of the fascinating events of Muslim Christian encounters. The Crusades constitute
a series of almost two century long military campaigns (1095 1291) conducted by the Christians of
Western Europe against the Muslims in the land of Palestine and the eastern Mediterranean coastal
strip. The Christian aim was to wrest the Holy Land, Jerusalem, from the Muslims. Annoyed, angered,
frightened, and disgusted by the presence of uninvited aliens in the midst of their cultures, the Muslim
response to the Crusades was initially one of intermittent, unorganised, and disrupted by a
preoccupation with internal problems. Later Muslims, however, ... Show more content on

The concept is widespread and deep rooted both in the modern Islamic political ideologies and the
Christian Europe. Since the historic significance of the Crusades during the first half of the second
millennium CE cannot be denied by either the Muslims or Christians. However, it may be argued that
the Muslim interest in the Crusades has been more a matter of curiosity than a sense of the relevance
of these events in modern times. For the Christians of Western Europe, it seems that these events are
still pertinent to their lives and thought, because the concept behind them evokes a feeling of service
to God and righteousness. In the twentieth century, the Arab world rediscovered the Crusades, viewing
them as symbols for current political problems. Some saw the medieval Crusading states as
protocolonists , the precursors of Napoleon in Egypt, the British Mandate for Palestine, the state of
Israel, and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. The Crusades marked the initial phase of Western
imperialism in the region (isti mar mubakkar or premature imperialism). For other Muslims, the
Crusades have been seen in religious terms, as part of a continuing conflict between Christianity and
Islam. The brutality of their campaigns, particularly in comparison with the noble reputation of Ṣalāḥ
al Dīn Ayyūbī, continues to colour Muslim perception of the Christian West. One Arab intellectual,

A Bar At The Folies Bergere Essay
A Bar at the Folies Bergère was one Manet s last pieces and was part of the avant garde and
Impressionists movement into modernism. He was inspired by Gustave Courbet s realism and how he
approached modernism with the working class like his piece The Stone Breakers. He also wanted to
rise to a challenge from an argument made in Charles Baudelaire s essay The Painter of Modern Life
to be painters of contemporary manners . . . using both modern subjects and new approaches to seeing
and representing the visual world. He often painted controversial pieces like Le Déjeuner Sur L Herbe
(The Luncheon on the Grass) and Olympia to shock the bourgeoisie with subject matters that were
considered immoral to the art world showing the reality of society during that time. While painting
this, he was incredibly ill with syphilis thus A Bar at the Folies Bergère was his last major piece to be
completed and hung in the Salon.
Just like his major pieces, he is also demonstrating modernism by having a working barmaid at the
Folies Bergère as the focal point of the piece (Fig. 1). Unlike his piece Olympia, Manet painted the
barmaid with softer strokes instead of intense lining of the body, yet she still has that pale tone with
some pinkness in her cheeks. While the Folies Bergère was a place of entertainment, her gaze is rather
a look of boredom or aloofness perhaps to show that she is not fully part of the bourgeoisie. Because
her dress, it makes her class ambiguous and possibly a

solutions, using the formula M1xV1=M2xV2 where M=molarity and V=volume. In this lab, there

How Can an Organization Use an Intranet to Achieve...
Organizations can effectively use the intranet to achieve knowledge sharing within it. According to
Robertson (2004), the intranet can provide a dynamic living environment necessary for knowledge
sharing. This aspect is also supported by Averweg (2011) who states that knowledge management
involves the contribution of knowledge in organizations especially in the sharing of knowledge in
informal infrastructure, essentially through communities of structure. Organizations can enable this
through the acquisition of necessary infrastructure for the same. Essentially, the intranet contains
technology tools that support knowledge sharing.
Robertson (2004) further emphasizes the significance of intranet in knowledge sharing by stating how

People can place ideas on platforms and these will progressively be modified or rejected but overall
knowledge sharing is encouraged (Mpindiwa 2010). Cultural change is critical in the effectiveness of
the intranet as a knowledge management tool and organizations can achieve this through the
involvement of its staff in design and implementation of the platform, which will promote the culture
and drive to use the intranet and hence lead to better knowledge acquisition (Oyekan 2007).
The intranet should be designed and tailored to provide for knowledge management needs. Here
technology can essentially be used on a push and pull basis where the push aspect of the technology
provides for the dissemination of information to the employees and the pull aspect enables the
obtaining of information from the same employees. The organizations can basically enable these
functions by obtaining the relevant infrastructure; this infrastructure can then utilize a standard
Internet browser for the platform on which the organization can perform its functions (Averweg 2008).
Overall, I believe that the intranet function should typically enable communication and collaboration
and organizations can achieve this through sending and reception of faxes, creating discussion rooms
as well as chat rooms. This can also be supported by the use of

Daylight Savings Time Research Paper
Each year, we set our clocks back an hour in the fall and then move them forward an hour in the
spring. This routine, thought to have been invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, is known as
daylight savings time (DST), and was created behind the thought of candle conservation. If people
simply woke up earlier, they would have more daylight and therefore use less candles. The concept
was adopted by the United States in the twentieth century and is regulated by the federal government
however the concept still has major flaws such as the actual energy conserved, effects on the people,
and the effect on industry. Studies have been done throughout the decades on the actual conservation

happen because the proposal would put the airlines significantly out of sync with the time in foreign
countries. At many foreign airports, U.S. carriers had established fixed landing and takeoff time slots
for which they could not make short term changes. Having to keep these slots for the U.S. DST
extension would have caused significant disruption to the airlines schedules and they anticipated the

Hinduism And Confucianism Similarities
Matt, I do agree that there are similarities between Hinduism and Confucianism; however, despite
both societies, placing a premium hierarchy and authoritarianism, their internal motivations and
ethical paradigms are widely divergent. I am going to incorporate the input you provided on my
original thread regarding this topic as well. I tend to recycle my rhetoric so bear with me.
In Hinduism, law as a matter of religious prescriptions and philosophical discourse has an illustrious
history in India. Emanating from the Vedas, the Upanishads and other religious texts, it was a fertile
field enriched by practitioners from different Hindu philosophical schools and late by Jain s and
Buddhists. Bar Council of India, History of Hindu Law in India ... Show more content on

Xin Ren, Tradition of the Law and Law of the Tradition: Law, State, and Social Control in China 19
(1997). Although both of them exerted a deep influence on China s state building as well as on its
moral and legal traditions, at the beginning, these two philosophies were bitterly opposed to each
other, as they were based on entirely different principles. Id. Despite their differences, Legalism and
Confucianism both endorsed the concept of the absolute monarchy. Id. China s current has a legal
system reflecting some aspects of contemporary civil and common law as practiced in the Western
legal traditions; however, China s legal system has often been based on Confucian philosophy, which
accentuates social control through moral education and a juridical priority regarding coded law and
criminal sanctions. Percy R. Luney, Jr., Traditions and Foreign Influences: Systems of Law in China
and Japan, 129 (1989).
In conclusion, the difference between Confucianism and Hinduism can be observed in their differing
worldview despite some overlap in social conventions. Hinduism s focus is on mystical objectives (not
to be confused with the law of India), as it dismisses reality as we understand it as illusionary.
Confucianism s focus is squarely on this world, and its chief emphasis is social and political

JUST ONE DRINK
JUST ONE DRINK is an intriguing, seductive thriller. The script is driven by themes about evil,
revenge, redemption, and forgiveness. It explores the idea that one can never escape their past.
While there are engaging elements of the script with a potentially complex character in the role of
Tamara, overall the script would benefit from more development, especially in the area of structure,
pace, tension, as well as further character development.
First, the story opens in the past to set up the backstory. It s a creative choice to do this, but not
essential. The backstory can be revealed through dialogue or through the grandmother s journal.

Steve could have been a more effective and likable character, but he also turns sadistic when he enjoys

Evolution Of American Foreign Diplomacy To Monroe s...
1. Trace the evolution of American foreign diplomacy from Washington s isolationism to Monroe s
interventionist policies.
Throughout history, George Washington and James Monroe generated many different foreign policies
that helped flourish America across the world. During George Washington s presidency, the country
had a hard time trying to gain economic power. The country was going through a tough time trying to
gain money, because the idea of trading was just not working out. Under James Monroe s presidency,
he created the Monroe Doctrine, which allowed the United States to warn the Western Hemisphere
that the U.S. would not allow for the countries in Europe to expand colonization. I will explain the
presidents in between these two presidents, while also including them.
The United States was trying to expand its trading options during the late 1770s on into the 1780s with
European nations. The U.S. had trouble with this because the country was already going failing
economically. The idea was to try to avoid conflict with any nation if possible. The view of
isolationism comes from the idea of trying to have interference with the European nations, but also
trying to avoid conflict. Washington sent John Jay over to Great Britain to try negotiate a plan for
America to trade in the Mediterranean without conflict. Washington hosted a conference in 1785, he
wanted to discuss trade regulations between the states of Virginia and Maryland. The convention was

What Is Hockey In Latin America
Hockey in Latin America; the two concepts are not usually associated with each other, but hockey is a

hockey is a sport that is gaining popularity with local families and children. The Falkland Islands, with

her writing career took off in full swing. Although her family was more conservative, regular
churchgoers, and socially prominent town figures, Dickinson preferred a socially reserved lifestyle
that renounced the traditional values of her day (Baym, 1189 93). The iconoclastic spirit pervasive in
Emily Dickinson s poetry reflects her conflict with the traditions of New England society.
First, Emily Dickinson s poetry1 continuously rejected society s perception of death. As death
approaches, the one entering eternity and those nearby are often scared ... Show more content on

She, growing up in a religious family, determined that religion was not the pathway for her and she
would instead be the only influence on her life (Emily, no pag.). To the rest of New England, God was
loving, caring, and a Father; however, her poetry reveals that to her, He was a mystical figure in the
sky who oscillated back and forth from loving to harsh. Dickinson s poetry often mocks the Bible,
God, prayer, and church attendance. Her poetry s is commonly irreverent, calling the Bible an antique
Volume Written by faded Men At the suggestion of Holy Spectres (F1577). Dickinson repeatedly
mocks God calling Him Burglar! Banker! and sarcastically Father! (F39). In a short, three lined poem,
Dickinson jeers at the traditional, Christian phrase In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Ghost Amen. Dickinson instead worships nature In the name of the Bee And of the Butterfly
And of the Breeze Amen! (F23). Although subtle, it reveals that she knows enough about religious
ways to parody it in a satirical fashion. Dickinson again belittles the effectiveness and importance of
prayer. Of Course I prayed And did God Care? He cared as much as on the Air A Bird had stamped her
foot And cried Give Me (F581). To remain true to herself, Dickinson belittled the importance of
faithful church attendance ( Emily, no pag.). Some keep the Sabbath going to

Cholera Is A Contagious Infection
Introduction
Qadri, Svennerholm, Faruque, Sack, (2005) states that Cholera is a highly contagious infection, which
is deemed to be severe once contracted. This is the case since it has been considered as among the
dangerous diseases currently, and which has been aligned with a variety of worldwide epidemics
experienced in the near past. The disease sprang in 1961, where it was first experienced in Indonesia,
and spread to other nations around the globe. According to WHO (2002), in the 21st century, cholera
was deemed to infect over 300, 000 people, 10, 000 of whom succumbed from it. The main aspect
considered to promoting the generation and spread of the disorder is an unclean environment, whereby
it forces people to use contaminated water for their personal use. Among the events that can further
promote the occurrence of this contamination are floods as well as wars. Regions that have been
adversely affected by the effects of Cholera include Asia, Middle East, Africa, Central and South
America. The latest outbreak of the infection however occurred in Haiti. WHO (2010) states that
Cholera kills about 4% of the individuals who contract the bacterium. The case mainly affects the
patients who suffer severe symptoms. Such symptoms may occur as a result of late treatment, or as a
result of inappropriate treatment modules. If the persons with severe symptoms tend to be treated
appropriately, less than 1% of them would die from it.
Vibrio Cholerae is the primary agent

Vulnerability of the Elderly Depicted in the Play, A Cream...
In the play A cream cracker under the settee I think the Alan Bennett is trying to convey a message
about what old age pensioners are really like and what there thoughts are about modern life. The play
was written in 1987 but the concerns of elderly people remain the same. The Play is focused on a
woman called Doris. She is in late adulthood, widowed and lives by herself. Doris has no family or
friends, she has been given a cleaner called Zulema by the council. Zulema comes once a week to
clean Doris house. Doris was once married to a man called Wilfred but he died, she often talks to him

isolated relationship with Wilfred when he was alive as they never talked about there feelings, when
Doris had her miscarriage I think Wilfred was scared of showing emotion. The miscarriage has
affected Doris as she says If it had lived, I might have had grandchildren now. Wouldn t have been in

sympathetic towards Doris because she can t stop cleaning. Doris is scared of having to go into

Iraq Military Intelligence Analysis
The Bush administration justified its military invasion of Iraq in 2003 with the practical considerations
of eliminating weapons of mass destruction and their acquisition by terrorist groups, and the long term
prospects of Middle East peace resulting from the establishment of a functioning democracy within
the region. US leaders began to emphasize arguments regarding the spread of democracy during the
early phases of the occupation when purported links between terrorist organizations and Iraq s
weapons of mass destruction program reflected questionable intelligence analysis. According to
proponents who asserted a democratic domino theory, the example of Iraqi democracy would

Tribe are conflated with ethnic groups (Crone, 1986), used synonymously with biologically based
primitive societies (Gellner, 1969), as an organizational mid point along an evolutionary spectrum
bounded by hunter gatherers at one end and states at the other, or as a territorially defined political
group with distinct dispute settlement norms (Tapper, 1990). Since tribal societies have diverse forms
of sociopolitical organization (Eickelman, 2002), anthropologists dismiss the ambiguous term as ill
suited for use within the social sciences (Southall, 1970). Regardless, ideas about tribes, tribalism, and
tribal societies persist as descriptors of ethnicity, citizenship, or political identity. According to Ibn
Khaldun, the tribe is a self contained social organization based on lineage and imbued with autonomy,
having social, economic, political, military and cultural functions (Khaldun, 1967). This definition
captures many of the various meanings associated with the term; however, Khaldun s inclusion of
autonomy hints at an important aspect of tribes in relation to modern states. Tribes and tribal societies
are independent polities that offer an alternative to the state (Crone, 1986; Gellner, 1969; Hager,
1983), so their autonomy is an important component of their political power. However, the extension
of the modern state within tribal societies resulted in the loss of tribal

A comparison of protagonists in Flannery O Conner s A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Greenleaf
In both his works of fiction, A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Greenleaf , Flannery O Conner paints a
rather grim picture. The protagonists in both the short stories share several common traits. In the story,
A Good Man Is Hard To Find , the Grandmother, who remains unnamed throughout, is a vile woman,
who is also selfish and a complete hypocrite. Yet, she continues to judge other people for what she

followed by her tragic death. In Greenleaf, the author directs a similar protagonist. The protagonist, an
elderly lady in this one too, is Mrs. May the proprietor of a farm. She is a conceited woman who
believes that her farm is profitable and sustaining only because of her efforts, discarding the efforts
put in by the rest of the family and the farm help. Her rise from penury to the success of her farm
makes her oblivious to the fact that she had help. Instead, she sees this as an opportunity to put on airs

inexperienced when she first came about the rundown farm, and takes great pride in the fact that the
farm is now successful. She not only forgets the contribution of the farm help, but blames them of
being against her. She even goes on to the extent of blaming the elements of being against her. So

Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
The dark never sleeps at night When night comes, dark comes. Throughout Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde, dark actions have been committed repeatedly at night. All the evil incidents that have
happened in the novel, namely, the night Mr. Enfield met Mr. Hyde for the first time when he was
trampling over a girl, the night of Carew s murder incident, the night that shocked Mr. Lanyon to his
further death, and the last might of Dr. Jekyll s life, all was done by Mr. Hyde. Mr. Hyde does not
sleep at night. Dr. Jekyll tries to keep his original form in the day and, if possible, transforms to be Mr.
Hyde only at night. Due to the fact that the day is Dr. Jekyll s time, time for his honourable career, Mr.
Hyde should not have emerged in the midday. On the other hand, Hyde is allowed to have done dark
actions at night, because, at night, it s time for people to sleep, it s time when people mostly down

Providing Your Puppy Or Dog With An Indoor Kennel Crate
Providing your puppy or dog with an indoor kennel crate can satisfy many dogs need for a den like
enclosure. Besides being an effective housebreaking tool (because it takes advantage of the dog s
natural reluctance to soil its sleeping place), it can also help to reduce separation anxiety, to prevent
destructive behavior (such as chewing furniture), to keep a puppy away from potentially dangerous
household items (i.e., poisons, electrical wires, etc.), and to serve as a mobile indoor dog house which
can be moved from room to room whenever necessary.
A kennel crate also serves as a travel cabin for your dog when traveling by car or plane. Additionally,
most hotels which accept dogs on their premises require them to be crated while in the room to
prevent damage to hotel furniture and rugs. Furnishing Your Puppy s Crate: Toys and Treats: Place
your puppy s favorite toys and dog treats at the far end opposite the door opening. These toys may
include the Tuffy , Billy , Kong , Nylabone or a ball. Toys and balls should always be inedible and
large enough to prevent their being swallowed. Any fragmented toys should be removed to prevent
choking and internal obstruction. You may also place a sterilized marrow bone filled with cheese or
dog treats in the crate. Bedding: Place a towel or blanket inside the crate to create a soft, comfortable
bed for the puppy. If the puppy chews the towel, remove it to prevent the pup from swallowing or
choking on the pieces. Although most

This is a way to kill a wife with kindness, and thus I ll curb her mad and headstrong humor. He that

the stout claims of Petruchio the stern and stubborn treasure seeker. This line conveys much
information about the future plot and about the Taming of the Shrew as a whole. It establishes
Petruchio as the hero and states the quest he must fulfill, and it even hints at the threshold guardian of
the reward that Petruchio seeks. These components seem to reflect much of the making of a hero s

To both Lucentio and Petruchio, a trickster is awarded, many times to add a comedic line or offer a

change of servitude to master is all due to the cunning that is expressed commonly by the trickster
character. Tranio the mentor to Lucentio offers advice encouraging his courtship with Bianca
(Shakespeare). Then as another form of mentoring impersonates Lucentio when they are in Padua in
order for Lucentio to act as a personal study to Bianca. Finally, the most evident connection to the
writer s journey guide of stories is the moment when Katherine transforms from the shrew to the
devoted wife. The scene when Petruchio makes the bet with the other suitors about the responsiveness
of their wives is when Katherine truly proves her resurrection. This event acts as the climax and the
returning of the elixir in the story that defines the roles that Katherine

Nature is a very powerful force beyond human comprehension, let alone control. But at spring

Negative Impact Of Social Media
Social media has given businesses a newfound advantage when it comes to reaching out and touching
the community and expending its brand. As a student at California Baptist University, I am majoring
in Public relations. I have recently learned that in the world of public relations, most businesses and
organizations use social media on a daily basis. With the right amount of research and time being
invested, businesses can see all the benefits that expanding on social media has to offer. The
accessibility of social media platforms for everybody has made it easier for all businesses and
organizations to become more successful. With the rapid change in technology, social media platforms
have been increasingly growing. The use of social media is a more easily accessed and personal way
of communication. It has allowed businesses to create their brand awareness and productively
advertise. Although social media can become a strong asset, it can also negatively effect a business.
We are currently living in the era of technology; every child, student, parent, and employee uses one
or more social media platforms on a daily basis. Some of the most visited and worldwide platforms
being used are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Snapchat. In a recent study done by Pew

What Role Does Gravity Play In Glacial Movement
Glaciers are formed on land from the compaction of snow and ice and because of their size and weight
they can reshape mountains and land masses (Thompson Turk, 2007). Glacial movement can be
explained from two different processes known as basal slip and plastic flow. Basal slip is when a
glacier glides over the bedrock due to an increase in water between the glacier and the bedrock
(Thompson Turk, 2007). Plastic flow is when a glacier flows like a viscous fluid, such as the center of
a glacier moving faster than the sides due to the friction of the valley walls or the top of a glacier
moving faster than the base due to the friction of the bedrock (Thompson Turk, 2007). Gravity plays a
major role in glacial movement along with the size, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

confined to mountain tops and valleys where it is cold and wet. A continental glacier can erode
mountains and land masses just like alpine glaciers, but continental glaciers are not confined to

mountains by forming cirques and reshape valleys by forming U shaped valleys. Glaciers cut into the
walls of its surroundings and cut into the bedrock as it slowly slides, which creates a u shaped
depression in the land. Glacial erosion reshaped many landscapes that are popular tourist sites today

In addition, they should also offer security and safety.
And finally, they should be sustainable since they impact greatly on environment and are big
consumers of water and energy. The designs must therefore ensure that they follow the regulations and
all equipment and machines used should not violate the set codes and standards.
Color selection implications and noise issues
The color of a health care facility is important to the wellbeing and therefore the health of patients.
According to Carr (2010), the colors should be calming and well coordinated to achieve the best
mental state and mood of patients and to create a cohesive atmosphere helpful to their recovery. If the
colors are not tranquil, they may disturb the wellbeing of patients and even become threatening to
their recovery. Noises in a hospital should be kept to a minimal to allow patients enough time to rest
undisturbed and to make them feel secure. Privacy is also important and facilities should ensure they
protect patients information in the course of giving care.

Outpatient facilities require certain equipment and electronic items. These items include, but are not
limited to:
These include room dividers, X ray machine, laboratory kits and products, heating and ventilation,

Flannery O’Connor s Revelation and the Power of Religion...
Flannery O Connor believed in the power of religion to give new purpose to life. She saw the fall of
the old world, felt the force and presence of God, and her allegorical fictions often portray characters
who discover themselves transforming to the Catholic mind. Though her literature does not preach,
she uses subtle, thematic undertones and it is apparent that as her characters struggle through violence
and pain, divine grace is thrown at them. In her story Revelation, the protagonist, Mrs. Turpin, acts
sanctimoniously, but ironically the virtue that gives her eminence is what brings about her downfall.

BP denied there was oil leaking out of the oil well. After that BP trivialized the consequences of the

BP made a big mistake right after the explosion. They were not open and honest about the situation.
First they denied the oil spill. When it became clear that there was definitely an oil spill, BP denied

process that constitutes achievements and goals. Thus, several online teaching and learning
dimensions are presented to explain many successes and barriers that are often experienced today in
online instruction.
When considering course design, novice online instructors may consider the use of discussion boards
as a technique to promote critical thinking. Asynchronous online discussions are an important
communication tool for distance education (Bai, 2009). Many researchers agree that asynchronous
discussions encourage reflective learning, in depth thinking and meaningful processing of information
(Bai, 2009; Black, 2005; Dixson, Kuhlhorst Reiff, 2006; Gilbert Dabbagh, 2005; Hara, Bonk Angeli,
2000). However, the actual quality of these discussions has become a major concern regarding
students cognitive engagement (Bai, 2009).
To address this concern, Bai (2009) conducted a study in which students participate in online
discussions to

Clarkson University Utopia
I extol those who believe that Clarkson University is a utopia. Although conversely, I believe that
Clarkson University is not a utopia. A utopia, in the minds of most, consists of an ideal place or state.
It consists of a unified culture with advanced sciences and technology. There is no need for currency;
people contribute and complete work they enjoy for the common good of the society. It is a self
sustaining society. People do not experience misery or disappointment and there is an absence of
barbaric acts. While, Clarkson University does indeed have some of these utopian qualities many are
lacking. This leads me to the conclusion that Clarkson University is not a utopia.
Consider all the books, articles, blogs, and journals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That connection can be defined even more between misery and the barbaric nature of students. If there
was a perfect world, a utopia, and Clarkson University was it, there would be none of these barbaric
traits. Naturally, this is not the case. I have noticed that when most students at Clarkson University get
stressed they partake in an activity that is frowned upon by most law enforcement. The students
partake in drinking and going out to parties often noting to take their mind off of the stress . Their
consumption of alcohol, in most situations, leads to some type of barbaric behavior from the student
or students. Not all students go out and party because of stress, some believe it is a form of recreation
and do it for fun. In a utopia this would not be the case. In most cases of a utopian society they do not
engage in activities that can cause harm to themselves or others. The novel Brave New World by
Aldous Huxley is the exception in this

Investigating The Heat Of Reaction Of A Combustion Reaction
Purpose
Utilize Hess s Law to determine the heat of reaction of a combustion reaction.
Procedures
Part A Reaction of Magnesium with Hydrochloric Acid:
Materials were gathered and the mass of a calorimeter was measured, then HCl was poured into the
calorimeter and the mass was measured again. A 7 cm magnesium ribbon strip was cut into two parts,
approximately 4 cm and 3 cm, respectively. The temperature of the HCl was recorded, then the 3 cm
magnesium strip was added to the solution and the temperature was measured again. Another trial was
conducted with the 4 cm strip after the disposal of the first mixture.
Part B Reaction of Magnesium Oxide with Hydrochloric Acid:
Materials were gathered and the mass of a calorimeter was measured, then HCl was poured into the
calorimeter and the mass was measured again. The temperature of the hydrochloric acid was recorded,
then .20 grams of magnesium oxide was added to the HCl solution and the temperature was measured
for the highest achieved value. Another trial was conducted after the disposal of materials.

The Athenian Jury In The Apology
Depicting the justification between the Athenian jury against the father of philosophy, the Apology
exhibits Plato s recollection and interpretation of the notorious trial of Socrates. Accused of refusing to
worship the gods recognized by the Athenian state, corrupting the youth, and informally addressing
himself throughout the trial, Socrates presents himself as a villain or an enemy to the Athenian society
and jury. Even though Socrates could have solicited pity towards the jury by strengthening his defense
with emotional appeal, Socrates refusal to appease the jury in the Apology justly transcends the moral
values of the Athenian jury and the modern human. Socrates emphasis on preserving the impartiality
of the trial provides support for Socrates refusal to appease the jury. Given the opportunity to show
pathos and ethos appeal the importance of his family and friends Socrates restrains himself from
instigating any bias into the trial, in order to keep the trial unprejudiced. Showing emotions
conceivably cloud the jury s judgment and influence its decisions to support ... Show more content on

Knowing he could receive the penalty of execution, Socrates did not fear death due to his belief of his
old age and his views on death. Socrates views death like sleep in which the sleeper does not even
dream at all and like a trip from here to another place that all of the dead do indeed exist in another
place (Cooper 35). Despite Socrates fatherly love for his sons, he self assuredly requests his friends to
look after sons hoping the truth of pursuing goodness above money and earthly may be passed on to
his children. Socrates optimistic views on death and his sons overshadow any limitations for the
spread of his philosophical ideas, revealing the gravity of the truth in Socrates

Discolored Toothpaste
Discolored Teeth? Know About These Natural Whiteners
When you are suffering from teeth that are discolored, it can have an impact on your smile, laugh, and
social interactions. If you are wondering if there is a natural way to whiten your teeth, you should be
aware of these three whiteners.
Charcoal
Activated charcoal can actually be used like a toothpaste, but with whitening power. In order to use it,
you will dip the bristles of a wet toothbrush into the activated charcoal powder. Then you brush just as
if you were using toothpaste. You ll need to thoroughly rinse out your mouth when you are finished,
and then brush one more time using your normal toothpaste.
Your teeth will look black when brushing with the charcoal, but it is a substance that is known to
absorb impurities inside your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the spice can stain your clothes, it can actually brighten teeth. Using turmeric is easy, since you
use it just like you would activated charcoal powder. Apply it to your moist toothbrush and brush like
normal. Be aware that the spice will cause your gums to have a slight yellow look to them shortly after
brushing, but it will quickly go away. Over time, it will brighten the enamel and improve your smile.
The spice works because it contains curcumin, an antibacterial and anti inflammatory agent. In
addition to whitening teeth, it also prevents plaque buildup that can cause yellow teeth.
Olive Oil
You can use olive oil to do oil pulling. It works by taking approximately 1 tbsp of olive oil and
swishing it in your mouth just like you do with mouthwash. The olive oil comes in contact with your
teeth and other surfaces, and pulls off the bacteria known to form yellow plaque. It will also dissolve
any stains on your teeth that are oil based. The longer that you swish the oil, the more bacteria will be
removed. When finished, spit the oil into the trash instead of down your

Summary Of Dressing Up For The Carnival
Dressing Up For The Carnival, written by Carol Shields, effectively explores how our Identity is a
construction, something that is multi layered and complex which in turn accentuates how there is more
to an individual then meets the eye. Dressing up for the Carnival is a collection of short stories about
conventional people all having a unique identity. There is no conflict within the story,However, all
characters share this common aspect of identity which is we are all yearning for a sense of fulfilment
life. Throughout this short story the third person, Shifting omniscient perspective reveals to us that we
are all struggling with who we are. An evident example of this is perspective in the story is when
shields illustrates the emotions

Milgram and Zimbardo
Read the material on Milgram Zimbardo and explain which study is the most useful in understanding
human behaviour in a social situation (focusing on the methods used and findings obtained) and which
study is the most unethical. The study of social psychology, particularly conformity, is very difficult to
conduct both ethically and accurately in order to be able to obtain useful results. In the studies done by
Milgram and Zimbardo, ethics were definitely breached but to what extent were these experiments
useful, and which one offered the most insight into human behaviour? While both Milgram and
Zimbardo s methods were flawed and unethical towards the participants I believe that the ends of the
Milgram experiment justified the means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How much different were the results Zimbardo found compared to those that Milgram had found
prior? Milgram s results showed that people would follow orders while violating their deepest beliefs,
and in fact this was more common the view that most people held. While Zimbardo s experiment was
still useful I believe that Milgram s experiment was most useful in understanding human behaviour
when it comes to conformity. When speaking of ethics, I believe that both experiments were very
much against the standards of ethics that we now hold true today, however, I believe Zimbardo s
experiment was a larger violation of ethics. The protection of participants is very important having to
do with humiliation, embarrassment and loss of dignity of the participants. In social situations in
bigger groups it is more humiliating for humans to do something morally incorrect then in front of
only one person. Similarly the fact that the participants were in larger groups can create more social
stress and anxiety. While both experiments had implications of violence, Zimbardo s experiment also
caused participants to abuse each other while Milgram s participants were only believing they were
electrocuting someone when in debrief they were assured no one was harmed. Both studies are highly
criticized for the deception of the participants however, it is

Oedipus Hubris Prompts In Aristotle The Poetics, Aristotle determines that in order for a play to be a tragedy the main character must experience a change of fortune, and provide katharsis for the audience. Throughout Oedipus Rex, Oedipus hubris arouses pity and fear from the audience and draws emphasis to his fall from grace (Aristotle The Poetics). Although the outcome of Oedipus Rex would remain the same, Oedipus hubris prompts the audience to reflect on their own life and emphasizes his fall from king to beggar to allow katharsis. It is known to the audience that Oedipus was adopted by Polybus, king of Corinth. Oedipus hears about Polybus death and triumphs in escaping his fate, proclaiming, those prophetic oracles, they re worthless (Episode III.971 972). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dalai Lam The Reincarnation Of Avalokitesvara The 14th and current Dalai Lama is known across the globe as being one of the most impactful peace makers and spiritual leaders to have ever existed. Kristine Dao Interlake High School 12 August, 2017 (Word Count:) After centuries of Spanish occupation in Cuba, Cuban resistance to Spanish rule grew resulting in the Spanish American war which ended in Spain renouncing all rights to Cuba. After a few years of US military rule in Cuba, Cuba was finally granted formal independence in 1902. During this time period before the establishment of Fidel Castro s rule, discontent began to develop with Cuban citizens being resentful of the system of governance in Cuba in which the US government held a great deal of power. Although this attack had been a failure, the trial gave Castro an opportunity to deliver what is arguably his most famous speech, a four hour long speech that was later reconstructed and published. This speech outlined the goals of the 26th of July Movement, the organization that eventually overthrew the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship in Cuba, and allowed him to become a focus of attention for the public. Furthermore, as Castro recounted the attack s aftermath, he described how his comrades, who he claims were courageous and pure, were brutally tortured and killed by Batista s forces (Daynes 3). In doing so, he portrays his fallen comrades as heroic martyrs who were mercilessly killed by Batista s men. Castro was also able to portray himself as a victim of the Batista regime who was fighting for the interests of the public. His speech thrust him into the limelight and allowed for him to enhance his public image, gain support, and ultimately obtain power. Castro was also able to promote his revolution and ideas during an interview with The New York Times after which people started calling him a symbol of opposition to ... During the 1970s, Rock and Roll dominated the music culture and charts with some of the best hits from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and others, while at the same time early Hip Hop were starting up with artists such as Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash. The genre stayed an underground phenomenon throughout the 1970s and fairly unpopular with the white audience of Rock and Roll, which held back its appearance in mainstream music until the mid 1980s. In this paper, I compare the differences in the arrangements of the song Walk This Way by the rock band Aerosmith and a cover done by the Hip Hop group Run D.M.C, and explore the music culture of the 1970s and 1980s which influence the original song and its cover version. I argue that Run DMC s progressive crossover cover of Walk This Way by Aerosmith took down the wall separating Rock and Roll and Hip Hop, legitimizing the genre s acceptability and propelling it into popular mainstream music. The 1970s, also known as the Me Decade , was a time of diversifying music. The Beatles had broken up, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin had died from drug overdose, Led Zeppelin was Britain s most popular group, The Rolling Stones weren t active, and rock roll was branching out into various popular subgenres such as: Country Rock, Glam Rock, Progressive Rock, Punk Rock, Soft Rock, and Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. Research topic: An investigation into related job stress and job satisfaction Job Stress Among Teachers Related job stress and job satisfaction have been a topic researched by several scholars and now by me. The issue of stress in the teaching profession as caused a serious concern for both faculty and administrators (Schuster, 1986). Some researchers have also attributed poor behavior of students as a significant contributor to the daily stress teachers face (Geving, 2007). When one think of teaching one can also think of it as a stressful occupation that many present teachers are quitting more than ever (Smith, 2006). Mastery of task management skills have been found as a critically component that new teachers take a while to grasp which in turn fosters a recipe for stress (Brown, 2005). Researchers like Cox (2007) have found weak administrations and school violence as a major factor which lead to overwhelming stress and departure of many teachers. This finding was also supported by Smith (2006). Smith s findings indicated that teaches are stressed because they don t feel safe in the environment in which they are expected to spend most of their lives. As job commitment increase the level of potential stress decreases (Forrest, 2006). Nevertheless, if there is a low level of commitment then the possibility of being stressed will increase. Researches like Maslach and Jackson (1996) have intended to three major factors that contributes to teachers being burnout. These factors are subjective accomplishments, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. • 9. The Muslim-Christian Response To The Crusades Rich in delightful episodes and dramatic events, spread over two centuries and three continents, the Crusades were one of the fascinating events of Muslim Christian encounters. The Crusades constitute a series of almost two century long military campaigns (1095 1291) conducted by the Christians of Western Europe against the Muslims in the land of Palestine and the eastern Mediterranean coastal strip. The Christian aim was to wrest the Holy Land, Jerusalem, from the Muslims. Since the historic significance of the Crusades during the first half of the second millennium CE cannot be denied by either the Muslims or Christians. However, it may be argued that the Muslim interest in the Crusades has been more a matter of curiosity than a sense of the relevance of these events in modern times. For the Christians of Western Europe, it seems that these events are still pertinent to their lives and thought, because the concept behind them evokes a feeling of service to God and righteousness. In the twentieth century, the Arab world rediscovered the Crusades, viewing them as symbols for current political problems. Some saw the medieval Crusading states as protocolonists , the precursors of Napoleon in Egypt, the British Mandate for Palestine, the state of Israel, and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq. The Crusades marked the initial phase of Western imperialism in the region (isti mar mubakkar or premature imperialism). For other Muslims, the Crusades have been seen in religious terms, as part of a continuing conflict between Christianity and Islam. He was inspired by Gustave Courbet s realism and how he approached modernism with the working class like his piece The Stone Breakers. He also wanted to rise to a challenge from an argument made in Charles Baudelaire s essay The Painter of Modern Life to be painters of contemporary manners . . . using both modern subjects and new approaches to seeing and representing the visual world. He often painted controversial pieces like Le Déjeuner Sur L Herbe (The Luncheon on the Grass) and Olympia to shock the bourgeoisie with subject matters that were considered immoral to the art world showing the reality of society during that time. While painting this, he was incredibly ill with syphilis thus A Bar at the Folies Bergère was his last major piece to be completed and hung in the Salon. Just like his major pieces, he is also demonstrating modernism by having a working barmaid at the Folies Bergère as the focal point of the piece (Fig. 1). Unlike his piece Olympia, Manet painted the barmaid with softer strokes instead of intense lining of the body, yet she still has that pale tone with some pinkness in her cheeks. Throughout history, George Washington and James Monroe generated many different foreign policies that helped flourish America across the world. During George Washington s presidency, the country had a hard time trying to gain economic power. The country was going through a tough time trying to gain money, because the idea of trading was just not working out. Under James Monroe s presidency, he created the Monroe Doctrine, which allowed the United States to warn the Western Hemisphere that the U.S. would not allow for the countries in Europe to expand colonization. I will explain the presidents in between these two presidents, while also including them. The United States was trying to expand its trading options during the late 1770s on into the 1780s with European nations. The U.S. had trouble with this because the country was already going failing economically. The idea was to try to avoid conflict with any nation if possible. The view of isolationism comes from the idea of trying to have interference with the European nations, but also trying to avoid conflict. The iconoclastic spirit pervasive in Emily Dickinson s poetry reflects her conflict with the traditions of New England society. She, growing up in a religious family, determined that religion was not the pathway for her and she would instead be the only influence on her life (Emily, no pag.). To the rest of New England, God was loving, caring, and a Father; however, her poetry reveals that to her, He was a mystical figure in the sky who oscillated back and forth from loving to harsh. Dickinson s poetry often mocks the Bible, God, prayer, and church attendance. Her poetry s is commonly irreverent, calling the Bible an antique Volume Written by faded Men At the suggestion of Holy Spectres (F1577). Dickinson repeatedly mocks God calling Him Burglar! Banker! and sarcastically Father! (F39). In a short, three lined poem, Dickinson jeers at the traditional, Christian phrase In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost Amen. Dickinson instead worships nature In the name of the Bee And of the Butterfly And of the Breeze Amen! (F23). Although subtle, it reveals that she knows enough about religious ways to parody it in a satirical fashion. Dickinson again belittles the effectiveness and importance of prayer. Of Course I prayed And did God Care? He cared as much as on the Air A Bird had stamped her foot And cried Give Me (F581). • 22. Cholera Is A Contagious Infection Introduction Qadri, Svennerholm, Faruque, Sack, (2005) states that Cholera is a highly contagious infection, which is deemed to be severe once contracted. This is the case since it has been considered as among the dangerous diseases currently, and which has been aligned with a variety of worldwide epidemics experienced in the near past. The disease sprang in 1961, where it was first experienced in Indonesia, and spread to other nations around the globe. According to WHO (2002), in the 21st century, cholera was deemed to infect over 300, 000 people, 10, 000 of whom succumbed from it. The main aspect considered to promoting the generation and spread of the disorder is an unclean environment, whereby it forces people to use contaminated water for their personal use. Among the events that can further promote the occurrence of this contamination are floods as well as wars. Regions that have been adversely affected by the effects of Cholera include Asia, Middle East, Africa, Central and South America. The latest outbreak of the infection however occurred in Haiti. WHO (2010) states that Cholera kills about 4% of the individuals who contract the bacterium. The case mainly affects the patients who suffer severe symptoms. Such symptoms may occur as a result of late treatment, or as a result of inappropriate treatment modules. If the persons with severe symptoms tend to be treated appropriately, less than 1% of them would die from it. Vibrio Cholerae is the primary agent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since tribal societies have diverse forms of sociopolitical organization (Eickelman, 2002), anthropologists dismiss the ambiguous term as ill suited for use within the social sciences (Southall, 1970). Regardless, ideas about tribes, tribalism, and tribal societies persist as descriptors of ethnicity, citizenship, or political identity. According to Ibn Khaldun, the tribe is a self contained social organization based on lineage and imbued with autonomy, having social, economic, political, military and cultural functions (Khaldun, 1967). This definition captures many of the various meanings associated with the term; however, Khaldun s inclusion of autonomy hints at an important aspect of tribes in relation to modern states. Tribes and tribal societies are independent polities that offer an alternative to the state (Crone, 1986; Gellner, 1969; Hager, 1983), so their autonomy is an important component of their political power. What Role Does Gravity Play In Glacial Movement Glaciers are formed on land from the compaction of snow and ice and because of their size and weight they can reshape mountains and land masses (Thompson Turk, 2007). Glacial movement can be explained from two different processes known as basal slip and plastic flow. Basal slip is when a glacier glides over the bedrock due to an increase in water between the glacier and the bedrock (Thompson Turk, 2007). Plastic flow is when a glacier flows like a viscous fluid, such as the center of a glacier moving faster than the sides due to the friction of the valley walls or the top of a glacier moving faster than the base due to the friction of the bedrock (Thompson Turk, 2007). There is no need for currency; people contribute and complete work they enjoy for the common good of the society. It is a self sustaining society. People do not experience misery or disappointment and there is an absence of barbaric acts. While, Clarkson University does indeed have some of these utopian qualities many are lacking. This leads me to the conclusion that Clarkson University is not a utopia. Consider all the books, articles, blogs, and journals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That connection can be defined even more between misery and the barbaric nature of students. If there was a perfect world, a utopia, and Clarkson University was it, there would be none of these barbaric traits. Naturally, this is not the case. I have noticed that when most students at Clarkson University get stressed they partake in an activity that is frowned upon by most law enforcement. The students partake in drinking and going out to parties often noting to take their mind off of the stress . Their consumption of alcohol, in most situations, leads to some type of barbaric behavior from the student or students. Not all students go out and party because of stress, some believe it is a form of recreation and do it for fun. In a utopia this would not be the case. In most cases of a utopian society they do not engage in activities that can cause harm to themselves or others. The novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is the exception in this ... • 43. Investigating The Heat Of Reaction Of A Combustion Reaction Purpose Utilize Hess s Law to determine the heat of reaction of a combustion reaction. Procedures Part A Reaction of Magnesium with Hydrochloric Acid: Materials were gathered and the mass of a calorimeter was measured, then HCl was poured into the calorimeter and the mass was measured again. A 7 cm magnesium ribbon strip was cut into two parts, approximately 4 cm and 3 cm, respectively. The temperature of the HCl was recorded, then the 3 cm magnesium strip was added to the solution and the temperature was measured again. Another trial was conducted with the 4 cm strip after the disposal of the first mixture. Part B Reaction of Magnesium Oxide with Hydrochloric Acid: Materials were gathered and the mass of a calorimeter was measured, then HCl was poured into the calorimeter and the mass was measured again. The temperature of the hydrochloric acid was recorded, then .20 grams of magnesium oxide was added to the HCl solution and the temperature was measured for the highest achieved value. Another trial was conducted after the disposal of materials. • 44. The Athenian Jury In The Apology Depicting the justification between the Athenian jury against the father of philosophy, the Apology exhibits Plato s recollection and interpretation of the notorious trial of Socrates. Accused of refusing to worship the gods recognized by the Athenian state, corrupting the youth, and informally addressing himself throughout the trial, Socrates presents himself as a villain or an enemy to the Athenian society and jury. Even though Socrates could have solicited pity towards the jury by strengthening his defense with emotional appeal, Socrates refusal to appease the jury in the Apology justly transcends the moral values of the Athenian jury and the modern human. Socrates emphasis on preserving the impartiality of the trial provides support for Socrates refusal to appease the jury. Given the opportunity to show pathos and ethos appeal the importance of his family and friends Socrates restrains himself from instigating any bias into the trial, in order to keep the trial unprejudiced. Showing emotions conceivably cloud the jury s judgment and influence its decisions to support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowing he could receive the penalty of execution, Socrates did not fear death due to his belief of his old age and his views on death. Socrates views death like sleep in which the sleeper does not even dream at all and like a trip from here to another place that all of the dead do indeed exist in another place (Cooper 35). Despite Socrates fatherly love for his sons, he self assuredly requests his friends to look after sons hoping the truth of pursuing goodness above money and earthly may be passed on to his children. Socrates optimistic views on death and his sons overshadow any limitations for the spread of his philosophical ideas, revealing the gravity of the truth in Socrates ... • 47. Milgram and Zimbardo Read the material on Milgram Zimbardo and explain which study is the most useful in understanding human behaviour in a social situation (focusing on the methods used and findings obtained) and which study is the most unethical. The study of social psychology, particularly conformity, is very difficult to conduct both ethically and accurately in order to be able to obtain useful results. In the studies done by Milgram and Zimbardo, ethics were definitely breached but to what extent were these experiments useful, and which one offered the most insight into human behaviour? While both Milgram and Zimbardo s methods were flawed and unethical towards the participants I believe that the ends of the Milgram experiment justified the means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How much different were the results Zimbardo found compared to those that Milgram had found prior? Milgram s results showed that people would follow orders while violating their deepest beliefs, and in fact this was more common the view that most people held. While Zimbardo s experiment was still useful I believe that Milgram s experiment was most useful in understanding human behaviour when it comes to conformity. When speaking of ethics, I believe that both experiments were very much against the standards of ethics that we now hold true today, however, I believe Zimbardo s experiment was a larger violation of ethics. The protection of participants is very important having to do with humiliation, embarrassment and loss of dignity of the participants. In social situations in bigger groups it is more humiliating for humans to do something morally incorrect then in front of only one person. Similarly the fact that the participants were in larger groups can create more social stress and anxiety. While both experiments had implications of violence, Zimbardo s experiment also caused participants to abuse each other while Milgram s participants were only believing they were electrocuting someone when in debrief they were assured no one was harmed. Both studies are highly criticized for the deception of the participants however, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
