Descriptive Essay About My Mandala
My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the world. It
is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else depending on
the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at the end. The
Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places to my ethnicity.
This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I ve changed and grown throughout
these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my family. The heart
represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my parents sides. I made it so
that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to represent diversity, and my
grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise because of their passion for Disney.
My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching necklaces, to represent their connection with
each other, and they actually do have similar necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes how
much I went to Disney World as a kid, and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love watching
the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my mandala. The
three people watching the fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. I am on my dad s shoulders
because that is how I was able to see the princesses and villains performing above everybody. Once
when I was 3 years old,

November 17 Terrorist Group
Case Study Paper Assignment The Theory and Practice of International Relations NOVEMBER 17
TERRORIST GROUP INTRODUCTION: Terrorism has been one of the hottest topics in the current
world affairs. The whole world is threatened by terrorist attacks of different types by different terrorist
organizations. The terrorist groups have been using various strategies to pressurize the world to fulfill
their demands. Their strategies include bomb blasts, murders, kidnapping and damage to property.
Currently Al Qaeda is the most talked about Islamic terrorist organization that has changed the face of
the world since September 11, 2001. The group has forced many countries to change their foreign
policy. However to think that terrorists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also tried to blow up a British aircraft carrier. The plan was unsuccessful. In 1997 the group
again gained success by killing a British shipping tycoon Costis Peraticos. In 1999 German embassy
in Athens was targeted by a bomb. According to the US Department of State information on terrorist
groups (n.d.) the group supports itself largely through bank robberies. MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH:
On June 29, 2002 the Greek police managed to arrest a member of the N 17 group. According to an on
line report by KATHIMERINI titled Judgment Day for N 17 (December 17, 2003) the arrest was made
due to an unsuccessful operation on part of the N 17 group. The suspect, Sawas Xeros, was
interrogated by Scotland Yard and the local police. His testimony led the police to two safe houses.
Following the link six more members of the group were arrested which included two brothers of
Sawas. The police also came to know about the leader of the group, a 58 year old professor
Alexandrous Giotopoulos. He was arrested from the island of Lipsi in July 2002. On September 5th,
2002 the Chief of Operations of N 17 group, Koufodinas, surrendered before the police. The Greek
courts charged 19 members of the group for approximately 2500 crimes. Because of the limitations of
the Greek law crimes before 1984 could not be tried. The arrested members were tried before the court
which ended in March 2003. Fifteen of the accused were found guilty including Giotopoulos

Reflection Paper On Internship
For this internship experience, I spent over eight hours preparing for the beginning of the school year.
I worked closely with the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development (my mentor), the Director of
Facilities, the Head Custodian, the Director of Finance, and the Director of Technology. This
experience mainly focused on ECLL Standard 3.1 with overlap of standard 3.5 because the main
activities in which I was involved was the preparation for the two staff only days that kickoff the
school year. Before beginning the many aspects of planning these days, I consulted with my mentor.
Together, we examined the options for scheduling based on the activities that needed to occur during
those two days: convocation, various meetings, teacher room preparation time, training for
PowerSchool, training for AESOP (timesheets, staff absence requests, etc.), and a speaker on wellness.
We determined time slots and locations for the whole group AESOP and social emotional training. The
convocation, various meetings, and teacher room preparations follow the same schedule each year, so
we just reused that schedule with minor updates. We met with the Director of Finance to determine
budget for breakfast, lunch, and the number of facilitators we could use for the PowerSchool training.
I met with the Director of Facilities and Head Custodian to determine which areas of the buildings we
could or could not utilize, and discussed parking options for convocation when everyone in the

History Of St. Albans Sanatorium
St. Albans Sanatorium has a beautiful Sphinx like presence that literally vibrates with remarkable
energy. She will often call out to certain people, pulling them into her arms and into her service. I
know, because she chose me to help save her and I am not alone. When I first came to St. Albans I was
working with merchandising. At that time I was afraid of the dark hallways and empty rooms of the
old asylum. I quickly overcame my fear of the place and it was replaced by a love of the building and
what it had meant for so many who had come before me. We are its caretakers. Those of us, both paid
and volunteer who strive to keep the doors open to a place worth saving, a place that was once the
caretaker to so many within its care. Those of us who are now here carry on the vision of people like
Don Hanauer, former Director of Operations for St. Albans. He saw the beauty in this building and
had a vision of restoring it to its former glory. As outlined in the final chapter of this book, we have
worked on a number of special events developed to generate funding for the structure s restoration. At
some point, Don s vision for St. Albans became mine. After Don left I knew that I would need to lead
the effort to take the sanatorium from disrepair back into wholeness. The beauty and Spirit of this
historic landmark now draws paranormal investigators from all over America and beyond, to walk the
hallways with the intent of encountering its remaining residents. No one, paranormal

Analysis of Machiavelli´s The Prince
The great philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli, having such beliefs, puts to rest man s downfall and
presents that way to preservation in his book The Prince, which produces an effective guide for
political action based off of his own philosophical beliefs and history s past. The Prince rest on the
principle that, above all, the foundation for a ruler s success is within verita effettuale or, the
effectiveness of a prince s rule. Machiavelli urges rulers to focus on acting in ways that will result in
the best political dominance rather than to be concerned with what others think of his actions.
Furthermore, he mandates that for a prince to uphold his objective as the maintainer of the state, he
must not be bound to a set code of morality. With that, Machiavelli takes out what was previously said
on human morals and teaches that rulers do not, in fact, need to possess personal moral character in
order to be effective political leaders. Indeed, a prince must learn to pay attention to moral qualities in
such a manner as to be able to use them to gain the necessary power to control the state. He claims, a
prince should not deviate from what is good, if that is possible, but he should know how to do evil, if
that is necessary (Machiavelli). With this in mind, Machiavelli addresses how a prince should best use
love, hate, fear, and cruelty to garner the most effective political rule possible. For a prince to lay his
foundation on the people, who are the keepers of morality

Fig 2.1 Renewable generation and displacement supported by the RET, 2013 [6]
This high number of renewable energy penetration especially in LV network has raised new way of
utilizing bidirectional power flow in the distribution network. Bidirectional power flow from DG, is
common phenomena now a day s .For example, in a normal sunny day, the average PV generation
would be high compared to cloudy day; and, the load requirement during day time in residential areas
are quite low compared to early evening to night time. As, PV installations are carried out keeping the
total load demand from a house , during the sunny day, the PV can easily exceed the load demand and
generate excess power than required. This power is then back flowed to the distribution network
causing bidirectional power flow. From recent trends, in most of the countries with PV installation in
the world, this bidirectional power flow is allowed in the grid via the smart meter and the distribution

Analysis of the Author s Writing Techniques in Angelou s I...
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou is an autobiography with a fictional aspect that
depicts the life of Maya herself from the time she was eight to sixteen. The in depth stories reveal the
struggle and hardships she faced growing up. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is a true account of the
murders of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas on November 15, 1959. The book gives a more
thorough look at the details of the family and the killers, the book is written to take the events and
elevate them into a story, enabling the event to transcend their specific historical moment. Capote
assembles the facts and perspectives about the Clutter murder into a narrative, creating that feeling of
a fiction book.

It fell flat on the big vat of lard and by noontime in the summer the grease had softened to a thick
soup. (pg. 16) The theme in the book was growing up black in the south, and the racism that came
with it. The development of the theme is what categorizes the book as a fiction. I Know Why the
Caged Bird Sings starts out discussing the family and the problems within the family, and as the book
progresses it begins to unravel the deeper theme of racism. However, the theme also incorporates the
chronological element of the plot and stories into a sequence of life events that make the narrator,
Angelou, the person she is. The first person narration is witnessed all throughout the book, every page
is told in her perspective and the readers learn more about her than the other characters. Provided, that
factor is what gives the book its autobiographical component. Since all of these conventions of fiction
are so prominent the book is considered an autobiographical fiction, but mainly read as if were just
fiction.
In Cold Blood was written as an account of the murder of a family and to convey the truth behind the
fictional facet of the book, Capote uses the convention of point of view by narrating the story from 3
different perspectives: the Clutters, Dick Hickock and Perry Smith, and a neutral third person. The
alternating perspectives enable the readers to understand both sides of the

Kiss Of Judas Essay
1. The painting I have chosen is called the Kiss of Judas by Giotto di Bondone, a Florentine painter
and architect. This painting is standing approximately twelve feet tall. It was created in the fourteenth
century between the early years of 1305 1306 in the South Wall of Scrovegni, Chapel in Padua, Italy.
The materials Giotto di Bondone used were called fresco painting. Fresco is Italian for the word
French According to ArtLex it is A method of painting on plaster, either dry (dry fresco or fresco
secco) or wet (wet or true fresco). In the latter method, pigments are applied to thin layers of wet
plaster so that they will be absorbed and the painting becomes part of the wall .
2. In this painting I see a conflict between Judas and Jesus Christ. A bunch of men in a dark setting
holding up torches dealing the worse possible outcome. Judas was one of the twelve disciples. Jesus
Christ is standing perfectly still staring at Judas without hesitation and Judas is looking up at Jesus

When it comes down to the visual elements of a painting Giotto di Bondone knows how to make his
paintings come to life. The Kiss of Judas, to me, seems to be a painted with a sense of realism. Not
only with the way had the clothes fit around the people in these paintings bodies but also the color.
Blue, yellow, and red is shown to be very important colors to capture this moment. With these colors
the shadows are brought out to make this painting look natural. As I mentioned before the setting is a
bit dark and Bondone uses a certain balance between what the people are wearing and the outside
frame. The most important element I seen was the lines. When Judas is kissing Jesus you can see the
torches creating a certain line focusing on their faces of this kiss. The second thing I notice is the
space in this painting. Looking to the left there is a man pulling another one, and on the right letting a
person know that there are more layers of things going on outside of this

Examples Of Catalase Lab Report
Part A was just a beginning. The experiment showed us what a normal catalase reaction really is. We
had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first
we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going
on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a
combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by
the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were
being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing
if catalase was reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase
reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept growing more and more into depth with our
experiments as we went on during our lab.
CONCLUSION PART B ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used apple, potato, and chicken liver to prove that not only beef liver contains catalase. The group
conducted three experiments: one contained potato and H2O2, another had apple and H2O2, and the
last had chicken liver and H2O2. We added 2mL of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to all three test tubes.
The bubbling effect proved that all three had catalase in them. We realized that the more the substance
bubbled the more catalase it contained, and that the less it bubbled, the less catalase there was. We
also rated the reactions by the speed of the reaction in seconds, like we learned in part

Kneeling inside a partially completed building at nine o clock in the morning, I stopped and thought

sand hit me in the face, I remembered that I was here, in Tijuana, with a window that needed to be

volunteers speed through the hammering and the nailing, I was tasked with taking this piece of glass
and plastic and placing it into a gap in the wall. Not a tight fit? Get something sharp, make the hole

Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty
Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty
Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has
ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked
upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through
the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things
that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken
promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the
Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in:
Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American
Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I
enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most
delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new
Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing,
and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey
and inferences.
The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the
Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and
the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced
Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God,
but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some
of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the
revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how they choose to worship. Many of these
American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to worship. Most did say that they would be
judged for their religious decisions, but were never forced into doing

An Accidental Man Made Disaster
A disaster is a highly disruptive event that causes suffering, hardship, injury, and even death
(Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster can cause interruptions in businesses, and can cause partial or
total destruction to infrastructure, such as homes or hospitals (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster
can cause downed power lines, loss of transportation, loss of food, and sanitation problems. Disasters
are caused by naturally occurring events or man made events. Examples of naturally occurring
disasters are earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Man made disasters are accidental,
unintentional, or deliberately caused (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). An accidental man made disaster
example would be a toxic spill, or a nuclear power plant event. A deliberately caused man made
disaster would be a terrorist attack, school violence, or a bombing. Certain types of natural disasters
are more likely to occur in certain areas than others. For instance, areas along the coastline are more
likely to experience a hurricane than areas more inland. Every place one can live is prone to having a
natural disaster occur. Also, a man made disaster can happen anywhere; no place is safe from the
threat of terrorism. In my community of Mt. Lebanon, the biggest natural disaster that has happened
was flooding. About fifteen years ago, Mt. Lebanon had a terroristic attack. The terroristic attack was
a deliberate man made disaster. A man went on a racially motivated crime spree, killing five

lot of challenges such as, time varying and frequency selective fading due to multipath propagation
and Doppler shift effect [4], a high penetration loss of 10 40 dB depending on the type of train and the
angle of incidence resulting in spotty coverage and dropped calls [5], frequent handover due to the
train high motion velocity will result in an increase in the drop off rates, degrading the overall system
throughput also group handover caused by the simultaneous handover where hundreds of devices in
the same train will request to handoff at the same time, causing a huge burden at the base station (BS)
in terms of processing and resources. Moreover, an HSR propagation channel includes multiple
terrains and scenarios such as urban, suburban, rural, plains, viaduct, tunnels, cuttings and stations [6],
this variety found to cause a deep fade so we need to be familiar with those propagation conditions
and channel fading of HSR to achieve high data

Abigail Adams Thesis Statement
Abigail Adams played a very prestigious role in the history of the United States of America, as she
was the wife of John Adams, the 6th president of the United States. She also played an important role
in the society of women and their rights as residents of our country. But let s go back to the beginning
of her story the very beginning. It all began when Abigail was born on November 11th, 1744, as the
daughter of a minister. This was before she had the last name of Adams; her maiden name was Abigail
Smith. She grew up with her mother and father, Elizabeth Smith and William Quincy Smith, in
Weymouth, Massachusetts. As a child, she was very sickly, so her parents did not put her through
formal schooling. Instead, they homeschooled her where they taught her how to read and write. She
grew to be a very open minded and well read young lady who had a deep passion for books. When she
turned 15, she met an older man by the name of John Adams, who was 27. They were actually 3rd
cousins, but they fell into a love so deep that they decided to marry. They married on October 25th,
1764, when she was 19 and he was 30. This brought the two into adulthood, into a life that required a
lot more work and included several bumps in throughout journey. By this time, they lived together,
still in Massachusetts, but John s job as a politician kept him away from home quite often. They wrote
letters back and forth constantly, reporting to each other about current situations happening

Notice that the Reynolds number is given in logarithmic scale. Then, we exit the diagram horizontally,
starting from the point defined above, towards the left of the diagram. Page 1 of 4 The Colebrook
White formula was proposed in the first half of last century, and allows for the computation of f . It is
expressed as follows: 1 = − 2 log10 f  ε 2.51  +  3 .7 D ℜ f      (1) where ε or ks
indicates the pipe equivalent roughness, D is the pipe diameter, and ℜ is the Reynolds number. The
main characteristic of Equation (1) is that it is implicit. It can be observed that the Darcy Weisbach
coefficient appears at both sides in (1), and there is no way of obtaining it solely as a function of
known variables. Therefore, a numerical method needs to be applied to compute that coefficient.
Equation (1) can be expressed as:  ε 1 2.51 + 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f f   =0   (2) where
the logarithm on base 10 has been converted to the natural logarithm. Multiplying by f , Equation (2)
yields:  ε 2.51 f 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f   =0   F =1+ (3) which is still an implicit
equation. Problem 1 You are asked to: 1. Please, develop a code for the bisection method to obtain the

Steubenville And Glen Ridge Rape Case
The Steubenville and Glen Ridge rape cases are two very similar cases. The perpetrators were football
student athletes with promising futures and the victims were teenage girls whose capability of
consenting to the acts done to them were questioned. One of the victims was seventeen years old and
had an intelligence quotient of 64 and the reading comprehension of a second grader. The second
victim was sixteen years old and was publicly assaulted while she was completely intoxicated. This
paper will discuss each victim and their perpetrators, as well as the trial sentencing and prosecution. It

she was twelve years old, she had her first sexual encounter and started taking birth control. Just like
most high school teenagers growing up, she just wanted to fit in with the other kids (Hanley, 1993).
Those who were a part of the victim s life such as her family, teachers and mental health specialists,
all described her as having a troubled life emotionally, socially and educationally (Hanley, 1993).
Fisher s education was different than the education that typical children received because she spent
most of her school years attending classes for the learning impaired and stayed in those classes until
she could no longer receive public education. Fisher looked up to these upperclassmen boys and when
she was urged to go to the basement that day, she went along, being promised a date with one of their
brothers whom she admired. The victim in the Steubenville High School rape was sixteen years old
when the rape occurred. I was not able to find too much information regarding the victim. However,
the Author Joanna Walters mentions that the victim was an honors student and an accomplished
athlete at school (Walters, 2013).

The Role Of Iago In Othello
But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve/ For daws to peck at: I am not what I am (Shakespeare,
Othello). Shakespeare has portrayed Iago in the play of Othello as a cruel character who intends to
destroy any person who believes has wronged him. Iago is a manipulative character showing hatred
especially to his superior. In the play, Iago is the destructive personage yet not all characters have
known about his plots, he has been the reason of the demolition of Othello whom thinks himself to be
an outsider to Venice. Iago has been playing in a way or another the role of the Devil in the play.

the setting and climax of the film laid out by narrator Bob Balaban. The setting being a fictional,
secluded, New England island only accessible by ferry. The climax, an impending storm that will
strike in only three days. We are then introduced to the two leading lovebirds. A pair of twelve years
olds, Sam and Suzy played by Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. Despite the rushed nature of their
relationship and the fact they are hopelessly inexperienced, Sam and Suzy still possess a maturity
beyond their years. Nevertheless, this doesn t stop them from planning a romantic escape together.

Willis gives one of his most sensitive turns in years as the dense but sweet Captain Sharp, who
becomes something of a father figure for Sam, albeit one who shares his beer. Sam is tough. On top of
being seemingly the most gifted scout in the troop, he is also the only boy of the khaki scouts sensitive
enough to fall for a girl to this extent. Sam can relate to adults much easier than his peers, a great
example is the beer scene towards the end of the movie. Captain Sharp even admits that Sam is most
likely smarter than him during a father like lecture on love and maturity.
The three authority figures Sam and Suzy are on the run from are Bruce Willis as the islands sheriff,
Edward Norton as the khaki scout troop leader, Bill Murray as Suzys father. Bill Murray delivers a
humor that is uniquely his as he portrays a stale, distant father figure. Willis and Norton, are both well
known for tough and hardened characters, so there is humor, as well as a little intrigue when their past
is contrasted with their roles in this movie. Watching Norton, with his performance in Fight Club in
mind, say: jiminy cricket he flew the coop , is just so much more special. It all comes back to the
contradiction and balance Anderson loves to give us within almost every aspects of his filmmaking.

nostalgia and visual appeal in every frame. There is also a color palette of soft green,

The Giver is a Dystopia, because the definition of dystopia is ¨An imagined place or state in which

¨Information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted.¨ Also ¨The society is an illusion of a

Rebecca Harding Davis Life In The Iron Mills
Rebecca Harding Davis was a groundbreaking author whose work, Life in the Iron Mills, examined a
socioeconomic system that failed some while keeping others empowered. The issues of power and
social class that are embedded in the work prompts readers to look closer at the unskilled immigrant
laborers, whose living and working conditions were deplorable, and compare them to the capitalists
and wealthy mill owners whose financial success rested mainly on the workers who were being
marginalized. The narrator s call to the readers, Stop a moment...hide your disgust, take no heed to
your clean clothes, and come right down with me, is actualized through the eyes of the middle and
upper class gentlemen who visit the mill on what the narrator refers to as the crisis of [Hugh s] life

How Can Money Buy In The Great Gatsby
It is good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it s good too, to check up once in a
while and make sure you haven t lost the things money can t buy a quote by George Horace Lorimer.
This quote is trying to say that money can get you the material things like clothes, a car, and a house.
They are good things because they are things that you want and maybe need to survive. However, you
also need to make sure you still have the things that you cannot buy with money such as love and
happiness. Fitzgerald is trying to say that money cannot buy you everything that you want and he
shows this in the novel The Great Gatsby. He shows this by saying money can get you material things,
but cannot get you immaterial things. He also states that money cannot make you happy all the time.
The last thing he states is just because you have a lot of money does not mean people are going to like
you. Fitzgerald shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He shows this by stating, ...it was a small eyesore, and it had been overlooked, so I had a view of the
water, a partial view of my neighbor s lawn... all for eighty dollars a month (Fitzgerald, 5). Fitzgerald
is saying that Nick has a house that is good enough for him and only him. He has a nice view and he
does not have to pay a lot that all these other millionaires have to pay. So just because you do not have
a lot of money does not mean you are happy with the life you have. Not everyone has to be wealthy to
live a life they are happy with. It also shows with Gatsby using his wealth to make Daisy happy.
Before he was not wealthy when he first met Daisy, but then he tries to become wealthy to get Daisy
back and make her happy, instead of doing things for himself. Even though Daisy did not want him, he
still tried caring for her and trying to look out for her. If you know someone does not want to be with
you, it does not make you

The Moral Value Of Moral Values
The claim that moral values cannot be derived from facts is grounded in the idea that facts are
descriptive and informative, whereas value propositions are prescriptive and imply that we ought to
carry out certain action or act in a particular way. In essence, while facts give us information about the
world itself, values tell us how we should act. It is accepted that facts are cognitive and are therefore
know to be true or false. However, non cognitivists support the idea that moral truths cannot be known
due to the notion that any individual who is making moral judgements is not articulating their beliefs
about the way the world is. Essentially, it is believed that there are no transcendent moral thoughts to
be known or discovered by individuals. David Hume initially pointed out that it would be illogical to
derive facts from values facts cannot be used in the assignment of values. This was later referred to as
the is ought gap, fact value distinction, or naturalistic fallacy to use the term created by G.E. Moore.
Primarily, it is a matter of fact what our moral duties are. For example; Plato argued that the good can
be known through reason, and the knowledge of the good is sufficient enough to motivate us to pursue
it. However, in accordance to Hume s Law, no factual description of an action can entail a value
judgement concerning it. Additionally, reason alone cannot provide motivation for action, or that
beliefs are distinct from desires. On the contrary, Kant

Hiroshima Bombing Justified
Was the bombing of Japan by USA justified? Intro The USA had no right to bomb three cities because
they killed thousands of women, children and elderly people. They were winning anyway so it wasn t
necessary and it destroyed years of infrastructure and put irreplaceable damage to the environment and

also killed thousands. Some people think however that it was retaliation for the bombing of pearl

Essay on Psycho-Analysis in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Psycho Analysis in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Sigmund Freud s studies in psychoanalysis are uncannily fore grounded in the late romantic period.
The works of William Wordsworth, Percy B. Shelley, Lord Byron, and Mary Shelley, all function as
poetic preludes to Freud s 18th century field. Particularly, it is Mary Shelley s Frankenstein that
creates a fictional rendering for psychoanalyst. In Frankenstein, Victor s rejection of the Monster
metaphorically represents the ego s rejection of the unconscious. Following from this metaphorical
paradigm, Freud s theories on narcissism, the libido theory, the doppelganger, neurosis, and the
Oedipus complex all resonate in the pages of Frankenstein. After a brief introduction to narcissism and

Prior to these three blows Man considered himself as the center and ruler of the universe, a narcissistic

In the beginning of its development the libido (all erotic tendencies, all capacity for love) in each
individual is directed towards the self...It is only until later that, in association with the chief natural
functions, the libido flows over and beyond the ego towards objects outside the self, and it is not until
then are we able to recognize the libidinal trends as such and distinguish them for the ego instincts.
(Freud, One of the Difficulties to Psycho Analysis, 3)
The ego instincts are those that are controlled by the conscious mind or the self preservative force.
Therefore, in a human paradise the libido and the ego instincts would be one. The sexual drives would
work agreeably with the preservative drives. However, in adulthood Freud explains the libidinal drives
do not always correspond to those self preserving drives within society. The lack of correspondence
causes the onset of repression: a part of the activity of your own mind has been withdrawn from your
knowledge and from the command of your will...with one part of your forces you are fighting the

Mississippi was smack in the middle of the Civil War fighting for the confederate cause. Some of that

of four bases. DNA is a made up of six molecules. These six molecules form are arranged to form the
structure of DNA. The model is called a double helix and it looks similar to a ladder. The sides of the

The third and final class is the unknown class. This class is considered unknown because from what
we know they never occur. Proteins can t be copied from another protein, the synthesis of RNA by
using the structure of a protein as a template is not possible naturally. (Wikipedia, 2017) Transcription
is the first step in the process of DNA to protein. This is when the DNA sequence is copied to get a
new strand of RNA. The new RNA copy transfers information to build a protein. Transcription makes
an RNA molecule from the DNA template. It takes place in the nucleus in eukaryotic cells. The main
enzyme used in transcription is RNA polymerase. RNA polymerase is a single stranded DNA
template. RNA nucleotides pair differently than DNA nucleotides. RNA nucleotides make base pairs
with the template, G pairs with C and A pairs with U. While the RNA strand is growing, it hangs
freely from the template while it is forming, once it is finished the DNA strand closes. The new RNA
strand then separates and the transcription complex falls apart. (Khan Academy, 2017) Translation is
when the ribosomes in the cytoplasm or the ER (Endoplasmic Reticulum), synthesize the proteins.
The mRNA is decoded to produce a polypeptide or specific amino acid chain. The mRNA is a group
of RNA molecules that carry information from the nucleus. A polypeptide is a single chain of amino
acids. And a protein

3. Characterize the initiation ritual. How do you think it compares to the real ritual if such a ritual
exists?
In the text the initiation into the Mafia is quite complicated. A proposed member is blindfolded and led
into a dark room. Pieces of Cranshaw melon are placed in his pockets, and he is required to hop
around on one foot and cry out, Toodles! Toodles! Next, his lower lip is pulled out and snapped back
by all the members of the board, or commissione; some may even wish to do it twice. Following this,
some oats are put on his head. If he complains, he is disqualified. If, however, he says, Good. I like
oats on my head, he is welcomed into the brotherhood. This is done by kissing him on the cheek and
shaking his hand. From that moment on, he is not permitted to eat chutney, to amuse his friends by
imitating a hen, or to kill anybody named Vito.
The real ceremony involves significant ritual, oaths, blood, and an agreement is made to follow the
rules of the Mafia as presented to the inductee. 4. Allen s language is pervaded by understatements,
contrasts and absurdities. Give examples from the text:

Hillary Clinton Dishonest Analysis
One source used to evaluate Hillary Clinton comes from an article titled Hillary Clinton emails what s
it all about? by Anthony Zurcher, a North American reporter. It is published by BBC News and the
purpose of the publication was to inform people about the issue with Clinton s emails. The
information in this source comes from quotes from Clinton herself, reports from The State
Department, and FBI directors from an investigation. It is valid information because it is supported by
evidence from a variety of places and it is also very well researched as seen by the amount of detail in
the article. Zurcher is an active reporter who covers US politics and writes about current happenings in
the world. The content on this website is a secondary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The source was published to present an opinion on a political issue and the author s intention is to
address Trump s tax returns in a negative manner. It is written from a first person perspective and
words such as bogus suggest a high level of bias. The information in the article comes from claims
made by Trump himself that are analyzed and interpreted, making it a secondary source. Eichenwald
is an American journalist who is a senior writer for Newsweek and he has also worked for The New
York Times. This shows that he is knowledgeable in his work, but he still did not use a lot of research
or evidence to back up his opinions in this article. The source was published on September 6th, 2016
which demonstrates that it is current. In this article, the main points are addressed clearly in a logical
manner and it is easy to read. However, the author was a little repetitive mainly to create a strong

How Did The Manhattan Project Affect The Second World War
The Manhattan Project had a major affect on World War Two. There was many people that contributed
to this project. Many people were affected by this project. The Manhattan Project also killed and hurt
many people. This is one of the largest scientific projects that has ever taken place. The Manhattan
Project changed the war.
Enrico Fermi was the leader of the Manhattan Project (Manhattan Project, A1). He was an Italian
American physicist. He left his home, Italy, due to the rise of fascism. After he came to America, he
went to Chicago University. Later on in his life, he became a nobel prize winner.
Fermi s team built a cube of graphite and uranium that was very large. It was twenty feet tall and
twenty feet wide. They removed ten cadmium rods from this cube. Cadmium rods are also known as
neutron absorbers. As they removed the tenth rod, and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More than 200,000 people died in the bomb (Adams,59). The survivors lived with keloids, burns,
radiation illnesses, and cancers. Radiation sickness was a sickness that formed from the smoke and
chemicals in the air after the bombs. Keloids, thick, brown scar tissue that developed from harsh
burns, changed the persons body figure.
After the explosion, the ground was 5,400 degrees fahrenheit (Bodden 25). People were laying on the
streets with no hair or clothes. Harsh winds kept brushing over the ashes and creating more fires.
About forty five minutes after the explosion cold rain fell upon the city. The rain was black and sticky
from all the radioactive chemicals. People feared that it was oil being poured on the city to feed the
fires.
Overall, the Manhattan Project was a success for the US. For Japan, it was one of the hardest things to
face. They didn t want to surrender but, they were forced to. Even though the budget was majorly
exceeded and it took a long time to complete, the US majorly benefited from this experiment. The

The Wolf In Quentin Tarantino s Pulp Fiction
Just because you are a character doesn t mean that you have character. This was said by The Wolf in
Quentin Tarantino s movie Pulp Fiction. Tarantino opens our minds to a word with no ordinary days
and especially no ordinary people. And that s just what this movie isn t, ordinary. There are so many
twist and turns, with storylines out of order and violence mixed in with everyday conversations. It s a
movie that can get you confused and grossed out but also excited and thrilled. It s so casually not
casual and as a viewer I have such mixed feelings on it. Pulp Fiction tells you not only one story but
multiple on life through the eyes of mobsters and criminals. I stand by its slot on AFI s top 100 list due
to its attention grabbing characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tarantino develops an array of crooks and gangsters who work in a business of money and drugs. He
makes them indulge in little conversations to express their perspectives on life and what exactly goes
through the minds of these so called ¨bad¨ men. Hitmen Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega (played by
Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta) do some pretty terrible things but still manage to have
conversations that normal people have on a daily basis. For example they were driving to kill a bunch
of boys for screwing over their boss and on the way there all the talked about was what European
countries call their hamburgers at McDonalds. I found this very comical because they are literally
driving to an apartment to hunt down these men and that is what is on there mind. Even right before
they walk in they talk about the deeper meaning behind giving a foot massage. They are so nonchalant
about everything they do and I almost admire that. Of course what they are doing is wrong but the
way they make light of the situation infers the fact of their perspective on life. People don t need to be
serious and stern all the time and Vincent and Jules prove that. That s how the movie kept me
entertained because I could relate to the characters. There weren t just hit men with no interior but
men who could be normal. I also really enjoyed the character Mia Wallace (played by Uma Thurman).
Although she was addicted to drugs she gave the audience an inside to her mind and what she thought
of. Like in the movie she talked about how if two people were so comfortable with one another then
they can sit in silence and it wouldn t be weird. She quotes ¨That s when you know you ve found
somebody really special, when you can just shut the f*** up for a minute and comfortably share a
silence.¨ I find that to be very true. If you truly are comfortable then not talking should just be normal.
Pulp Fiction does a great job composing

Work Out Music Psychology
The Psychology of Effective Work Out Music Gyms have introduced new methods of motivating their
customers during the workouts. A study conducted by The Institute of Education Sciences on college
students studied which genres of music where preferred by each student. The study found that students
preferred genres like hip hop, pop, and rock to genres like country and metal. Students specifically
cited being much more motivated to exercise to certain songs than others based on the overall genre.
Psychologist have also found that the majority of people had innate preferences for a frequency of
2Hz or 120 bpm (beats per minute). An analysis of about 75,000 songs produced between 1960 and
1990 found that the majority of songs produced had a commonality of about 120 bpm. ... Show more

Most scientists associate this increased likeness as a consequence of the increased heart rates observed
when exercising. For this reason, gyms have been found to use songs at a pace of 160 bpm. Some
examples of such songs include: Shake it Off by Taylor Swift and Pompeii by Bastille . The minimum
beats is 120 while the maximum is 180 bpm. Science also shows that the average person s heart rate
when running is 132 150 which varies depending on age. Sounds at 160 bpm propel the average
runner to run faster to attain a higher heart rate. Gyms using this methodology have found that their
customers are more motivated to exercise harder and longer, thus increasing the likelihood that they
would keep their gym

Auditory Cues And Visual Cues
In this section, we discuss both studies using multimodal cues (e.g. audiovisual cue) and those using
different cue modalities in different conditions (e.g. auditory cue in one condition and visual cue in
another condition). To date, evidence from research on healthy individuals is very limited compared to
studies with unimodal cues. Nevertheless, experimental evidence suggests that multimodal cues such
as audiovisual cues can be linked to motor adaptation of healthy individuals, enabling them to
simultaneously adapt to two directionally opposite perturbations (Osu, Hirai, Yoshioka, Kawato,
2004).
There is some research on neural structures that are involved in processing contextual cues with
different modalities. A PET study investigated whether different cue modalities (visual, auditory, and
somatosensory) would produce activation in different regions of the brain (Weeks, Honda, Catalan,
Hallett, 2001). However, no significant effects of the cue modality were found on activity of either
cortical or subcortical regions. Meanwhile, the study observed a larger activation of bilateral posterior
cingulate cortex (PCC) when subject s motor action (button pressing) was externally triggered than
when it was internally triggered. This suggested that PCC was involved in motor movement triggered
by external cues in general. On the other hand, an fMRI study on attention demonstrated that auditory,
visual, and tactile cues activated their respective cortical regions in a simple

Objective Meaning
Many people walk around not worry about whether or not life has any objective meaning, at least
most of the time, and when they do think on the topic of the meaning of life, they seem assured that
there is some objective meaning. For many, this objective meaning lies in their religion. The notion
that God creates the meaning in life does make some sense. For if God created humans, it is
reasonable that he created them with intention and purpose. Now this might not be the purpose people
want to have, but it is purpose for them none the less. It is from this God given purpose that people
can derive their meaning. For those without religion, well, there is always subjective meaning. There
is family. There is the future of the human race. In short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The existence of God is beyond the scope of this paper. However, if God does not exist, and life has
no meaning, that doesn t mean life has to be miserable. There are many wholesome things one can
find joy in. People can actually enjoy their jobs. Many people really do value their distractions. People
can find joy in the company of others. People can even find joy in helping each other. Why not donate
to Unicef? Why not volunteer? Still, people want meaning in their lives, and they find things to get
their meaning out of. Most of the time, the things people try to get meaning from are very admirable,
but this doesn t change the fact, that life without God, is meaningless. It may feel better to say that one
s meaning to life is trying to improve human quality of life, and hopefully, these people succeed in
their quest. However, as a meaning to life it doesn t really stand to

Essay on Karl Popper s Falsifiability
Karl Popper s Falsifiability
Sir Karl Popper s lecture was very thought provoking concerning where to draw the line. Unlike most
people, the validity of the theory was not his concern as much as how that validity is determined. This
is an issue that really does not get the attention that it deserves. Popper s claims concerning, When
should a theory be ranked as scientific? and Is there a criterion for the scientific character or status of a
theory? seems to be put together in the following summary.
At first Popper seems to just be criticizing the integrity of some sciences and/or scientists who
nebulously back their vague and general theories with references to observations that may be
inconclusive or scanty which they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first half of Popper s lecture seems to coincide with Thomas Kuhn s historical account of science.
Kuhn speaks of the old astronomical theories held and how they resemble many types of theories
today. They were believed for the same reasons: they provided plausible answers to the questions that
seemed important (Kuhn p.3). Kuhn, however, would agree with Popper that theories must go beyond
the content of observation; that it was psychological factors that led the early scientists to group up
observations into a systematic formula.
Basically, with every hypothesis, conjecture, observation, etc. I have read about in Kuhn goes to every
extreme to avoid any type of test that might refute their claims. The limited observations that they did
make could always be interpreted into the theory. What was worse was that those observations that did
not fit into the theory were viewed as only apparent observations (Kuhn p.39).
Maybe this is another factor involved as to why Copernicus was revolutionary. He did not follow this
precedent. Copernicus was not the only one. Many had also refuted Aristotle s views concerning laws
of motion (Kuhn p.83). When observable falsifying evidence is present Kuhn agrees that the
conceptual scheme must then be abandoned and replaced. However, a good distinction is made here.
Conceptual scheme is a much better rendering than theory. Much like what I would call a world view

This article supplies a general overview about genetically modified crops in the United States. I will
use the information in my research essay to provide context about the science of GMOs. The source
explains how GM crops were introduced in the U.S. in the mid 1990s. It details how the term
genetically modified... refers to the transfer of genes between organisms using a series of laboratory
techniques for cloning genes, splicing DNA segments together, and inserting genes into cells. The
author comments that genetically modified is an imprecise term and a potentially confusing one, in
that virtually everything we eat has been modified genetically through domestication from wild
species and many generations of selection by humans for desirable traits. In the United States, ... Show

Additionally, the source elaborates on the potential applications for genetically modified crops in the
future (e.g., biofuels). The author also provides information on how GMOs are regulated in the United
States through the FDA, USDA, and EPA. Equally important, the source describes transgenes, which
are the transferred genes inserted into plant cells through use of gene gun or agrobacterium
tumefaciens. The next step is to develop a whole plant from the modified plant cells or tissues in a
process called tissue culture. The process is done under controlled conditions. Following the
completion of these steps, the crop developers complete a series of evaluations. These evaluations
include strict guidelines and monitoring to avoid the risk of cross pollination. Overall, I think this
article is great; it has useful facts and knowledge that I can incorporate into my essay. The article
explains how and why plants are genetically modified, in addition to which GM crops are most
prevalent. It was written by Professor Patrick Byrne from Colorado State

  • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Mandala My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the world. It is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else depending on the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at the end. The Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places to my ethnicity. This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I ve changed and grown throughout these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my family. The heart represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my parents sides. I made it so that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to represent diversity, and my grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise because of their passion for Disney. My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching necklaces, to represent their connection with each other, and they actually do have similar necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes how much I went to Disney World as a kid, and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love watching the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my mandala. The three people watching the fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. I am on my dad s shoulders because that is how I was able to see the princesses and villains performing above everybody. Once when I was 3 years old, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH: On June 29, 2002 the Greek police managed to arrest a member of the N 17 group. According to an on line report by KATHIMERINI titled Judgment Day for N 17 (December 17, 2003) the arrest was made due to an unsuccessful operation on part of the N 17 group. The suspect, Sawas Xeros, was interrogated by Scotland Yard and the local police. His testimony led the police to two safe houses. Following the link six more members of the group were arrested which included two brothers of Sawas. The police also came to know about the leader of the group, a 58 year old professor Alexandrous Giotopoulos. He was arrested from the island of Lipsi in July 2002. On September 5th, 2002 the Chief of Operations of N 17 group, Koufodinas, surrendered before the police. The Greek courts charged 19 members of the group for approximately 2500 crimes. Because of the limitations of the Greek law crimes before 1984 could not be tried. The arrested members were tried before the court which ended in March 2003. • 4. Reflection Paper On Internship For this internship experience, I spent over eight hours preparing for the beginning of the school year. I worked closely with the Director of Curriculum and Staff Development (my mentor), the Director of Facilities, the Head Custodian, the Director of Finance, and the Director of Technology. This experience mainly focused on ECLL Standard 3.1 with overlap of standard 3.5 because the main activities in which I was involved was the preparation for the two staff only days that kickoff the school year. Before beginning the many aspects of planning these days, I consulted with my mentor. Together, we examined the options for scheduling based on the activities that needed to occur during those two days: convocation, various meetings, teacher room preparation time, training for PowerSchool, training for AESOP (timesheets, staff absence requests, etc.), and a speaker on wellness. We determined time slots and locations for the whole group AESOP and social emotional training. The convocation, various meetings, and teacher room preparations follow the same schedule each year, so we just reused that schedule with minor updates. We met with the Director of Finance to determine budget for breakfast, lunch, and the number of facilitators we could use for the PowerSchool training. I met with the Director of Facilities and Head Custodian to determine which areas of the buildings we could or could not utilize, and discussed parking options for convocation when everyone in the ... • 5. History Of St. Albans Sanatorium St. Albans Sanatorium has a beautiful Sphinx like presence that literally vibrates with remarkable energy. She will often call out to certain people, pulling them into her arms and into her service. I know, because she chose me to help save her and I am not alone. When I first came to St. Albans I was working with merchandising. At that time I was afraid of the dark hallways and empty rooms of the old asylum. I quickly overcame my fear of the place and it was replaced by a love of the building and what it had meant for so many who had come before me. We are its caretakers. Those of us, both paid and volunteer who strive to keep the doors open to a place worth saving, a place that was once the caretaker to so many within its care. Those of us who are now here carry on the vision of people like Don Hanauer, former Director of Operations for St. Albans. He saw the beauty in this building and had a vision of restoring it to its former glory. As outlined in the final chapter of this book, we have worked on a number of special events developed to generate funding for the structure s restoration. At some point, Don s vision for St. Albans became mine. After Don left I knew that I would need to lead the effort to take the sanatorium from disrepair back into wholeness. The beauty and Spirit of this historic landmark now draws paranormal investigators from all over America and beyond, to walk the hallways with the intent of encountering its remaining residents. • 6. Analysis of Machiavelli´s The Prince The great philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli, having such beliefs, puts to rest man s downfall and presents that way to preservation in his book The Prince, which produces an effective guide for political action based off of his own philosophical beliefs and history s past. The Prince rest on the principle that, above all, the foundation for a ruler s success is within verita effettuale or, the effectiveness of a prince s rule. Machiavelli urges rulers to focus on acting in ways that will result in the best political dominance rather than to be concerned with what others think of his actions. Furthermore, he mandates that for a prince to uphold his objective as the maintainer of the state, he must not be bound to a set code of morality. With that, Machiavelli takes out what was previously said on human morals and teaches that rulers do not, in fact, need to possess personal moral character in order to be effective political leaders. Indeed, a prince must learn to pay attention to moral qualities in such a manner as to be able to use them to gain the necessary power to control the state. He claims, a prince should not deviate from what is good, if that is possible, but he should know how to do evil, if that is necessary (Machiavelli). With this in mind, Machiavelli addresses how a prince should best use love, hate, fear, and cruelty to garner the most effective political rule possible. For a prince to lay his foundation on the people, who are the keepers of morality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou is an autobiography with a fictional aspect that depicts the life of Maya herself from the time she was eight to sixteen. The in depth stories reveal the struggle and hardships she faced growing up. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is a true account of the murders of the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas on November 15, 1959. The book gives a more thorough look at the details of the family and the killers, the book is written to take the events and elevate them into a story, enabling the event to transcend their specific historical moment. Capote assembles the facts and perspectives about the Clutter murder into a narrative, creating that feeling of a fiction book. Maya Angelou s book reads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It fell flat on the big vat of lard and by noontime in the summer the grease had softened to a thick soup. (pg. 16) The theme in the book was growing up black in the south, and the racism that came with it. The development of the theme is what categorizes the book as a fiction. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings starts out discussing the family and the problems within the family, and as the book progresses it begins to unravel the deeper theme of racism. However, the theme also incorporates the chronological element of the plot and stories into a sequence of life events that make the narrator, Angelou, the person she is. The first person narration is witnessed all throughout the book, every page is told in her perspective and the readers learn more about her than the other characters. Provided, that factor is what gives the book its autobiographical component. Since all of these conventions of fiction are so prominent the book is considered an autobiographical fiction, but mainly read as if were just fiction. In Cold Blood was written as an account of the murder of a family and to convey the truth behind the fictional facet of the book, Capote uses the convention of point of view by narrating the story from 3 different perspectives: the Clutters, Dick Hickock and Perry Smith, and a neutral third person. • 10. Kiss Of Judas Essay 1. The painting I have chosen is called the Kiss of Judas by Giotto di Bondone, a Florentine painter and architect. This painting is standing approximately twelve feet tall. It was created in the fourteenth century between the early years of 1305 1306 in the South Wall of Scrovegni, Chapel in Padua, Italy. The materials Giotto di Bondone used were called fresco painting. Fresco is Italian for the word French According to ArtLex it is A method of painting on plaster, either dry (dry fresco or fresco secco) or wet (wet or true fresco). In the latter method, pigments are applied to thin layers of wet plaster so that they will be absorbed and the painting becomes part of the wall . 2. In this painting I see a conflict between Judas and Jesus Christ. A bunch of men in a dark setting holding up torches dealing the worse possible outcome. Judas was one of the twelve disciples. When it comes down to the visual elements of a painting Giotto di Bondone knows how to make his paintings come to life. The Kiss of Judas, to me, seems to be a painted with a sense of realism. Not only with the way had the clothes fit around the people in these paintings bodies but also the color. Blue, yellow, and red is shown to be very important colors to capture this moment. With these colors the shadows are brought out to make this painting look natural. As I mentioned before the setting is a bit dark and Bondone uses a certain balance between what the people are wearing and the outside frame. The most important element I seen was the lines. When Judas is kissing Jesus you can see the torches creating a certain line focusing on their faces of this kiss. The second thing I notice is the space in this painting. Looking to the left there is a man pulling another one, and on the right letting a person know that there are more layers of things going on outside of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Examples Of Catalase Lab Report Part A was just a beginning. The experiment showed us what a normal catalase reaction really is. We had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing if catalase was reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept growing more and more into depth with our experiments as we went on during our lab. CONCLUSION PART B ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We added 2mL of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to all three test tubes. The bubbling effect proved that all three had catalase in them. • 15. Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in: Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing, and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey and inferences. The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God, but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how they choose to worship. Many of these American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to worship. Most did say that they would be judged for their religious decisions, but were never forced into doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. An Accidental Man Made Disaster A disaster is a highly disruptive event that causes suffering, hardship, injury, and even death (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster can cause interruptions in businesses, and can cause partial or total destruction to infrastructure, such as homes or hospitals (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). A disaster can cause downed power lines, loss of transportation, loss of food, and sanitation problems. Disasters are caused by naturally occurring events or man made events. Examples of naturally occurring disasters are earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Man made disasters are accidental, unintentional, or deliberately caused (Anderson McFarlane, 2015). An accidental man made disaster example would be a toxic spill, or a nuclear power plant event. A deliberately caused man made disaster would be a terrorist attack, school violence, or a bombing. Certain types of natural disasters are more likely to occur in certain areas than others. For instance, areas along the coastline are more likely to experience a hurricane than areas more inland. Every place one can live is prone to having a natural disaster occur. Also, a man made disaster can happen anywhere; no place is safe from the threat of terrorism. In my community of Mt. Abigail Adams Thesis Statement Abigail Adams played a very prestigious role in the history of the United States of America, as she was the wife of John Adams, the 6th president of the United States. She also played an important role in the society of women and their rights as residents of our country. But let s go back to the beginning of her story the very beginning. It all began when Abigail was born on November 11th, 1744, as the daughter of a minister. This was before she had the last name of Adams; her maiden name was Abigail Smith. She grew up with her mother and father, Elizabeth Smith and William Quincy Smith, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. As a child, she was very sickly, so her parents did not put her through formal schooling. Instead, they homeschooled her where they taught her how to read and write. She grew to be a very open minded and well read young lady who had a deep passion for books. When she turned 15, she met an older man by the name of John Adams, who was 27. They were actually 3rd cousins, but they fell into a love so deep that they decided to marry. They married on October 25th, 1764, when she was 19 and he was 30. This brought the two into adulthood, into a life that required a lot more work and included several bumps in throughout journey. Notice that the Reynolds number is given in logarithmic scale. Then, we exit the diagram horizontally, starting from the point defined above, towards the left of the diagram. Page 1 of 4 The Colebrook White formula was proposed in the first half of last century, and allows for the computation of f . It is expressed as follows: 1 = − 2 log10 f  ε 2.51  +  3 .7 D ℜ f      (1) where ε or ks indicates the pipe equivalent roughness, D is the pipe diameter, and ℜ is the Reynolds number. The main characteristic of Equation (1) is that it is implicit. It can be observed that the Darcy Weisbach coefficient appears at both sides in (1), and there is no way of obtaining it solely as a function of known variables. Therefore, a numerical method needs to be applied to compute that coefficient. Equation (1) can be expressed as:  ε 1 2.51 + 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f f   =0   (2) where the logarithm on base 10 has been converted to the natural logarithm. The Moral Value Of Moral Values The claim that moral values cannot be derived from facts is grounded in the idea that facts are descriptive and informative, whereas value propositions are prescriptive and imply that we ought to carry out certain action or act in a particular way. In essence, while facts give us information about the world itself, values tell us how we should act. It is accepted that facts are cognitive and are therefore know to be true or false. However, non cognitivists support the idea that moral truths cannot be known due to the notion that any individual who is making moral judgements is not articulating their beliefs about the way the world is. Essentially, it is believed that there are no transcendent moral thoughts to be known or discovered by individuals. David Hume initially pointed out that it would be illogical to derive facts from values facts cannot be used in the assignment of values. This was later referred to as the is ought gap, fact value distinction, or naturalistic fallacy to use the term created by G.E. Moore. Primarily, it is a matter of fact what our moral duties are. For example; Plato argued that the good can be known through reason, and the knowledge of the good is sufficient enough to motivate us to pursue it. Recommendation #1: SAP must spend time developing new methods and technology that will ensure the security of them and more importantly their faithful clientele. Recommendation #2: SAP should try to find less expensive data chips with the same or similar processing power. By lowering certain company expenses SAP can possibly lowers consumer prices as well and restore customer loyalty. References SAP (2013). About SAP: Helping the world run better. • 38. Essay on Psycho-Analysis in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Psycho Analysis in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Sigmund Freud s studies in psychoanalysis are uncannily fore grounded in the late romantic period. The works of William Wordsworth, Percy B. Shelley, Lord Byron, and Mary Shelley, all function as poetic preludes to Freud s 18th century field. Particularly, it is Mary Shelley s Frankenstein that creates a fictional rendering for psychoanalyst. In Frankenstein, Victor s rejection of the Monster metaphorically represents the ego s rejection of the unconscious. Following from this metaphorical paradigm, Freud s theories on narcissism, the libido theory, the doppelganger, neurosis, and the Oedipus complex all resonate in the pages of Frankenstein. After a brief introduction to narcissism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prior to these three blows Man considered himself as the center and ruler of the universe, a narcissistic illusion. The discoveries of Copernicus, Darwin, and Freud drove man s narcissism underground dividing the object (the world), from the subject (the self), or conscious from the unconscious. In the beginning of its development the libido (all erotic tendencies, all capacity for love) in each individual is directed towards the self...It is only until later that, in association with the chief natural functions, the libido flows over and beyond the ego towards objects outside the self, and it is not until then are we able to recognize the libidinal trends as such and distinguish them for the ego instincts. (Freud, One of the Difficulties to Psycho Analysis, 3) The ego instincts are those that are controlled by the conscious mind or the self preservative force. Therefore, in a human paradise the libido and the ego instincts would be one. The sexual drives would work agreeably with the preservative drives. However, in adulthood Freud explains the libidinal drives do not always correspond to those self preserving drives within society. The lack of correspondence causes the onset of repression: a part of the activity of your own mind has been withdrawn from your knowledge and from the command of your will...with one part of your forces you are fighting the other part (Freud, One of the Difficulties ... Some of that heritage still lingers heavily today because the confederate flag still files at the state capital to this very day. This symbol of a failed attempt to permanently tear the country apart has been in the media a lot these days because of the recent shooting in South Carolina where a 21 year old white man killed nine people in a landmark historically black church. The gunman was represented by the confederate flag along with a couple of other flags that stood for white supremacy. The issue of whether or not to get rid of the flag is an issue that comes up from time to time in Mississippi, but lawmakers do not seem to want to get rid of it once and for all to end to controversy. The University of Mississippi also used the rebel flag as their symbol for a long time, but they finally realized a few years ago that it was too offensive to many of its students and supporters, so they banned it from all sporting events at the college. They also decided to ban colonel reb who was their mascot because he represented an image that made many people felt like was the image of a white southern plantation owner and slave owner even though many people from Mississippi and Ole Miss fans said he only represented what it is to be a southern gentleman from ... Proteins can t be copied from another protein, the synthesis of RNA by using the structure of a protein as a template is not possible naturally. (Wikipedia, 2017) Transcription is the first step in the process of DNA to protein. This is when the DNA sequence is copied to get a new strand of RNA. The new RNA copy transfers information to build a protein. Transcription makes an RNA molecule from the DNA template. It takes place in the nucleus in eukaryotic cells. The main enzyme used in transcription is RNA polymerase. RNA polymerase is a single stranded DNA template. RNA nucleotides pair differently than DNA nucleotides. RNA nucleotides make base pairs with the template, G pairs with C and A pairs with U. While the RNA strand is growing, it hangs freely from the template while it is forming, once it is finished the DNA strand closes. The new RNA strand then separates and the transcription complex falls apart. He makes them indulge in little conversations to express their perspectives on life and what exactly goes through the minds of these so called ¨bad¨ men. Hitmen Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega (played by Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta) do some pretty terrible things but still manage to have conversations that normal people have on a daily basis. For example they were driving to kill a bunch of boys for screwing over their boss and on the way there all the talked about was what European countries call their hamburgers at McDonalds. I found this very comical because they are literally driving to an apartment to hunt down these men and that is what is on there mind. Even right before they walk in they talk about the deeper meaning behind giving a foot massage. They are so nonchalant about everything they do and I almost admire that. Of course what they are doing is wrong but the way they make light of the situation infers the fact of their perspective on life. People don t need to be serious and stern all the time and Vincent and Jules prove that. That s how the movie kept me entertained because I could relate to the characters. There weren t just hit men with no interior but men who could be normal. I also really enjoyed the character Mia Wallace (played by Uma Thurman). Although she was addicted to drugs she gave the audience an inside to her mind and what she thought of. She quotes ¨That s when you know you ve found somebody really special, when you can just shut the f*** up for a minute and comfortably share a silence.¨ I find that to be very true. Auditory Cues And Visual Cues In this section, we discuss both studies using multimodal cues (e.g. audiovisual cue) and those using different cue modalities in different conditions (e.g. auditory cue in one condition and visual cue in another condition). To date, evidence from research on healthy individuals is very limited compared to studies with unimodal cues. Nevertheless, experimental evidence suggests that multimodal cues such as audiovisual cues can be linked to motor adaptation of healthy individuals, enabling them to simultaneously adapt to two directionally opposite perturbations (Osu, Hirai, Yoshioka, Kawato, 2004). There is some research on neural structures that are involved in processing contextual cues with different modalities. A PET study investigated whether different cue modalities (visual, auditory, and somatosensory) would produce activation in different regions of the brain (Weeks, Honda, Catalan, Hallett, 2001). However, no significant effects of the cue modality were found on activity of either cortical or subcortical regions. Meanwhile, the study observed a larger activation of bilateral posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) when subject s motor action (button pressing) was externally triggered than when it was internally triggered. This suggested that PCC was involved in motor movement triggered by external cues in general. On the other hand, an fMRI study on attention demonstrated that auditory, visual, and tactile cues activated their respective cortical regions in a simple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kuhn speaks of the old astronomical theories held and how they resemble many types of theories today. They were believed for the same reasons: they provided plausible answers to the questions that seemed important (Kuhn p.3). Kuhn, however, would agree with Popper that theories must go beyond the content of observation; that it was psychological factors that led the early scientists to group up observations into a systematic formula. Basically, with every hypothesis, conjecture, observation, etc. I have read about in Kuhn goes to every extreme to avoid any type of test that might refute their claims. The limited observations that they did make could always be interpreted into the theory. What was worse was that those observations that did not fit into the theory were viewed as only apparent observations (Kuhn p.39). Maybe this is another factor involved as to why Copernicus was revolutionary. He did not follow this precedent. Copernicus was not the only one. Many had also refuted Aristotle s views concerning laws of motion (Kuhn p.83).
