Conquest And The Start Of Colonialism
Conquest In the era preceding the age of conquest and the start of colonialism around the late
1400s was a dark time in Europe both socially and economically. Under the feudalist system,
there was strict social classes which made upward mobility nearly impossible, even for those born
into lower level nobility. Morale was also waning as pestilence and war persisted. The bubonic
plague in the mid 1300s ravaged Europeand by some estimates, cut the population by half. France
and England fought in the Hundred Years War that quite literally meant that the region was in a
state of war for a century, between 1337 to 1453. Additionally, one of the last vestiges of the
Christian Eastern Roman Empire, Constantinople, fell to the Muslim Ottomans in 1453. This
event not only hurt western esteem, but also cut off the major trade route from Europe to Asia.
All of this meant that Europe, both the courts and the Church were seeking a way to increase
prestige and wealth. Conquest was the response, by allowing nations to find new land to possess,
and new resources to exploit, and especially new enemies to defeat. The period in the late 1400s
is sometimes euphemistically called, The Age of Exploration, connoting ideas of discovery,
knowledge building, and awe. In Amerigo Vespucci s (1454 1512) first letter to Lorenzo Di
Pierfrancesco De Medici, Vespucci spends more than half the letter describing the land of the
Americas, often commenting on flora and fauna as a marvel (Vespucci,

Comparing Frankenstein And Frankendoodle And Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages many
adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. Spongebob Squarepants,
a popular children s television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for
all ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with
Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the
similarities and difference between the two texts; Frankendoodle as well as Frankenstein . By
looking at the allusion apparent in Frankendoodle , it is clear to see that many of the more
popularized characteristics are found throughout the text, such as; a name given to the creature, the
creature being aggressive thoughtless monster, and the creator having a sidekick. Fundamentally,
the idea of a creature being born into this world through unconventional means is clearly
demonstrated in both texts. Frankendoodle shadows Mary Shelley s original text, Frankenstein but
allows it to highlight the Frankenstein that was born through many forms of popular culture.
Spongebob Squarepants is a children s television show that aired periodically from the early 1990
s into 2010. It s production takes place in Nickelodeon Studios by main producer, Stephen
Hillenburg. Some of the most noteable people in the production of Spongebob Squarepants are; Tom
Kenny (voice of Spongebob), Bill

California Immigration Benefits
California is a beautiful place to consider settling down in, with large cities full of attractions,
and a diverse populace gleaming with culture, California isn t just the place for you it s the place
for everyone. California was desirable territory for many countries ever since it s very discovery.
The first people from across the sea s to discover Californiawere Spanish missionaries in the 1700s.
California wasn t even US territory until acquired through The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The
story of Sutter s Mill had spread across the country a few years after this timely treaty. This
inspired settlers to flock west in certainty that they would return home with bellies full of gold.
This gold rush exploded California s economy almost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crime rate in California has taken a dive from a large surge lasting from the 1970s through 1995.
If the crime rates in California still concern you then locations like Santa Clara, Contra Costa
and Alameda might be appealing to you. Something you will have to consider before living in
California is taxes. California stands to have one of the highest tax rates in the entire US with
base sales tax of 7.5%, higher than anywhere else in the country, and a top marginal income tax
rate of 13.3%, the highest state income tax rate in the country. Those of particularly large
incomes will have to pay a lot of that income to the state of California. If you re searching for a
job in any technology field then you will have no trouble finding such a job in California with
Silicon Valley s mass amount of tech companies. If you are perhaps looking to raise a child in
California this would be advised against. California s educational system has been placed as one of
the worst in the country multiple times and little action has been taken upon this by the California
government. Robert Oaks, spokesman, has said California is moving in a positive direction. We ve
dramatically increased our investment in education. If this statement holds truth is to be seen

Compare The Structure Of Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells
Vicki Millard
Unit 10193 Introduction to Cell Biology
1.Compare the structures of Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells
There are two different types of cells; prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Both cells have differences,
including the shape and size of the cell. Prokaryote cells are found in bacteria such as E coli,
Streptococcus and Staphylococcus, whilst eukaryote cells are found in plants, animals and fungi.
Eukaryotic cells have many components which lead to the cell having a much more complex
structure and are larger in size, measuring between 10 and 100 micrometres in diameter.
Prokaryotic cells, on the other hand, are much smaller, measuring between 0.2 and 2 micrometres
and having a much simpler structure. The two cells share similarities such as; containing DNA,
ribosomes and cytoplasms. According to Bassett, The ribosomes are told, what kind of protein to
make and when to make it via the direction of the DNA. [Bassett. Dawsonera.com. P. 83. 2005.]
DNA in a prokaryotic cell is described to be a single circular chromosome, whereas the eukaryotic
cell has multiple linear chromosomes. However, the main comparison between the two cells is that
the eukaryotic cell contains a nucleus, whereas the prokaryotic cell lacks a nucleus.

Citizens United V. Federal Election Commission
Money is a form of payment in America, money has little to much value. It can be seen as a coin
or as paper, which has been issued legally by the government. Money can be used in exchange for
certain things a person or group desires. With money in peoples hands, it can drive them to make
certain decisions with much power. People in politics use a form of money to pay for their beliefs
in the United Statesof America. For many years, elections have been organized based on privately
funded campaigns. When a candidate is running for presidency it becomes very expensive and
difficult to manage on their own. Therefore if the candidate is wealthy, their campaign is set to go
and continue. If the candidate needs financial assistance in order to... Show more content on

The case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was to regulate the spendings of
candidates campaign, but it failed to succeed. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 in the case of Citizens
United v. Federal Election Commission. (Bentley, 2017) The case was ruled in favor of big
business donating private funds to campaigns. They argued because the first amendment protects
the right to speak of many corporations and unions, whether or not people see them as human,
therefore the are aloud to donate money to a candidate. (Bentley, 2017) In the academic journal
written by Bentley, he States the Court majority (Justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and
Thomas) argued, although government has the authority to prevent corruption or the appearance of
corruption, it has no place in determining whether large political expenditures are either of those
things, so it may not impose spending limits on that basis. This meaning the government cannot
enforce spending limits on private donors due to the government not being able to identify the big
businesses as corrupted . Since the government cannot label an organization as corrupt or unjust,
therefore the donor can continue to assist the candidate. The main problem is the United States of
America seems to avoid this. There is a clear problem with Citizens United being able to continue
donating money to candidates without giving them so much power. This can be stopped through a
constitutional amendment to strip away the corporations of their rights. (Bentley, 2017) By doing
this, there will be a very successful campaign for future candidates due to there being an equal
amount of money being distributed to them

What Are The Four Basic Techniques In Physical Assessment
16. Demonstrate the four basic techniques utilized in the pysical assessment. The four basic
techniques utilized in the physical assessment are inspection, palpation, percussion, and
ascultation. To begin the techniques I will first wash my hands, and then make the patient as
comfortable as possible. Then I will start by inspecting the patient. I will observe the patient s
state of consciousness by having the patient repeat their name and date of birth along with telling
me where they are at, and what the date is. If there are any abnoramalities their, I will document
them. Next I will observe their overall state of health, look for any signs of physical distress. I will
then look for any lacerations, bruises, visible lumps or bumps, or things such as moles and birth
marks, and body symmetry. Again, if anything is abnormal I will document my findings. Also when
inspecting the patient I will document any oders and note their nature and source. If everything is

Race The Tempest
The representation of race in the play is eurocentric as Caliban s physical appearance marks him
as different and therefore sub human, this can be seen in his name which is an anagram of
cannibal, a european preconception of others [Source]. Furthermore the Europeans throughout
the play view Caliban as a property that might be sold in Europe for his freakishness. Trinculo
says Were I in England now as once I was and had but this fish painted, not a holiday fool there

that can be bought and sold: Very like. One of them/Is a plain fish, and no doubt marketable

It is the clichГ© story of the rightful ruler who is overthrown by his enemies, but manages to
restore his status and live happily ever after. However, the play fails to question Calibans position
and view as a savage and slave, by only acting out the treatment of natives people by Europeans.
Prospero is a bigot who validates and legitimise his treatment, intolerance and prejudice of
Caliban due to his supposedly savage behaviour of resisting submission and his attempted rape
of Miranda. He is seen as the Other , different from Europeans and therefore naturally inferior,
But thy vile/race/Though thou didst learn had that in t which good/natures/Could not abide to
be with; therefore wast thou/Deservedly confined into this rock [1.2.430 435] ). Caliban is a
representative of the indigenous people exploited by European colonizer, Prospero, and the
previous quotation show how it is his race and nature that make him inferior, even though the
supposedly benevolent Europeans tried so to make him human as Prospero says ( A devil, a
born devil, on whose nature/Nurture can never stick; on whom my pains,/Humanely taken, all, all
lost, quite lost; )[4.1.212 214]. Prospero is seen as honorable in his actions towards Caliban,
while today it is seen as illegal, as one can not have an intolerance for others beliefs or opinions

Why I Was The Only Person Who Was Ready
My thirteen year old mind could not handle waiting idly in an uncomfortable, wooden chair. By
that time, my powdered makeup had turned into beads of liquid. Can we please leave, I yelled
we re going to be late! In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my
cousin s room. I was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever
witnessed. There were clothes sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry
on the bed. My cousins and aunts were running around the room; some were getting ready, some
were arguing and some were talking on the phone. The mixture of heat and expensive perfume
was asphyxiating. We re going to miss the trip tia ! I failed to understand why I was the only person
who was ready. We had all been aware of our reservations for the party boat in Old San Juanfor
almost a week.
We re almost ready Val, go start the car. Her response was almost humorous because I knew she
was nowhere near being ready. On her head, rested her shower cap and in the closet, hung her
dress. Respectfully, I continued to follow her orders and accept our inevitable lateness.
I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on February,4th, 1999. Since that day, I have come to the
conclusion that no one on the island is familiar with the concept of time. Puerto Ricans often
jokingly regard reoccurring tardiness as a common quality. Along with their skewed view of time,
they also seem to have an aversion to frugality. Unfortunately,

An Interview With An Aspiring Lawyer
As an aspiring lawyer, I did an interview with another lawyer who worked in my hometown of
Wilmington, Ohio at a place called Rose Dobyns. This particular lawyer happens to be life long
friends with my uncle so setting up the interview was rather easy. I also set up a ride along with
the West side of Dayton s policeforce but I would not be able to write the paper in time. However,
I will be able to compare and contrast the different sides of the law and will enjoy the
opportunity to be able to see what I am getting into in the future. After making it to Rose
Dobyns, I told the receptionist that I was there to see Blaise Underwood and she told me to take
a seat. I took a seat and observed the office, noticing that there was a copy of the constitution on
the wall, as well as fake plants, a toy set for kids and some nice comfortable seats. I was soon
greeted by a tall, bearded man who was not wearing a suit and tie as expected. I shook his hand,
entered his office and began the interview quickly. He told me that he originally wanted to be in
the FBI or DEA when he graduated from the University of Cincinnati. In his opinion, you can only
get to that level of Law enforcement by having a law degree or many years of police work under
your belt. He clearly did not have years of police work, so he decided to major in criminal justice
then pursue a J.D. at the University of Dayton. He, however, did not make through the FBI s very

Imagery And Second Person Imagery
People have various reasons and emotions that prompt them to carry out an event in a certain
way. First Person Imagery and Third Person Imagery are the two ways that determine how a
person will act. The idea of the use of various imagery perspectives can affect memory and
emotions can cause a person to react. Third person imagery tends to understand behavior as a
function of the actor s disposition, whereas actors tend to understand their behavior as a function
of the situation (Libby et al., 2007). This imagery perspective allows a person to understand the
purpose, reasoning, and the effects of making a decision. For example, a person is using third
person imagery when making an important decision, such as voting or picking a career. Social
judgement and character are the factors that help people decide whether their decision will be one
way or another. First person imagery perspective allows people to carry out an action or event
without much influence on emotions and social judgement. This perspective offers the chance for
people to analyze and use their emotions can occur when making a decision (Holmes et al., 2008).
The emotions that initially in making a decision comes out first, not the influences of other plus
your emotions. For instance, a person has their feelings towards war, the environment, and politics.
In first person perspective, people have the chance to only express their emotion towards various
situations. Using third

The Transcript Of A Speech Delivered By Thomas Morris Chester
This document is the transcript of a speech delivered by Thomas Morris Chester to an audience in
Philadelphia in 1862. Based on the citation for the passage, we can assume that this version was the
one published as a pamphlet.
Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1834, Thomas Morris Chester was the son of escaped slave
from Maryland who had found as an oyster salesman. As a young man, he traveled to Liberia
upon his return he became an editor of the Star of Liberia newspaper, a pro African colonization
publication. By the time of the Civil War, he was one of the more famous African American
orators and an advocate for Black Nationalism. After this speech, he would serve as a recruiter for
colored regiments. According to some reports even raising a militia of free blacks to defend
Harrisburg during the Gettysburg Campaign. In August 1864, he became a war correspondent for
the Philadelphia Press and spent the rest of the war traveling with the Army of the Potomac on the
long road to Appomattox. Directly upon his return from the front, he would join the National Equal
Rights League.
This speech was delivered on December 9, 1862 at the close of one of the bloodiest years and in the
midst of one of the greatest turning points in American history The preliminary Emancipation
Proclamation had been announced several months earlier, but the Proclamation would not come
into effect for another month. American slavery was truly dying, leaving African Americans in a
period of uncertainty

Explain The Golden Rule In American Culture
The Golden Rule states that we are to treat other people as we would like to be treated ourselves.
It is followed by fellow believers and is recognized in all cultures and almost all major religions.
R.M. MacIver states that this is the only rule that stands by itself in the light of its own reason, the
only rule that can stand by itself in the naked, warring universe, in the face of the contending values
of men and groups (274).
All cultures have morals and ethics, but what looks unethical to us could possibly be a way of
life for that particular culture. If they think they are right about their morals and ethics, how can
we judge them? Here in America we do have a standard set of morals but who s to say that we all
follow those rules?

a change vision, the pre school will ensure that in addition to the staff, the parents of existing and
potential students hear and understand the vision of the pre school. The vision will be reflected
in daily communication, emails, meetings and presentations. Effective visioning requires a
willingness to consider all the options and to share information that is needed to develop them

The Government Should Not Control What Children Eat Essay
Childhood obesity is an epidemic in the United States, nearly twenty percent of children between
the ages of 6 and 11 are clinically obese; however the government has no place trying to control this.
(CDC, 2008) The current administration over steps its authority moving beyond the control of
federally funded school lunches and into oversight of privately owned vending machines in public
schools. Major corporations are being bullied into censoring their advertisement exposure to
younger children so that the government won t impose their own regulations. It is a parent s
responsibility and right to educate their children and control what they eat. The Federal government

Snack machines are big business in the public school system. They are privately owned and
serviced, in order to be placed in schools the vending companies enter into contracts where a
portion of profits are provided back to the school. These profits often play a big role in an already
tight school budget; they pay for necessities such as copies of student handouts and other teaching
aids. Where the problem begins is that the Let s Move program authorizes the United States
Department of Agriculture to set standards for all foods regularly sold in schools including vending
machines and al la cart lunch lines. Neither of the affected receives funding from the program,
making this a controversial issue of the federal government setting controls on state funded schools.
The federal government needs to stay out of state run programs, especially when it can affect
funding which directly relates to our children s education.
Aside from federal restrictions on food in public schools some states have allowed their
administration to create and enforce rules that are not their place to be making. At Little Village
Academy, a public school in Chicago the principal Elsa Carmona established a rule that banned
lunches made at home and drinks from home at school, the only acceptation is for children with
allergies. This ruling is an attempt to force the children to eat the

The Trojan War
In the beginning of the semester, I believed that I knew most of the history of the Trojan War. I
knew that members of the Greek army hid inside of a wooden horse an attacked the Trojans
inside of their walls. Before taking this class, I thought the movie Troy was an accurate account of
the war. I also had no idea that the Gods had a large role in the Iliad. I was shocked to learn that the
majority of the history of the Trojan Warinvolves the Gods. In my opinion, it seems very
unbelievable. According to homer, people believed in Zeus, Hades, Apollo, Poseidon, and the
other Gods. Something I don t understand is how people actually believe homers account of the
Trojan War. The Iliad had so many parts where the Gods were directly involved the war between
the Trojans and the Greeks. Almost none of Homers accounts of the Gods were mentioned in the
movie because the history the Trojan War wound sound less believable. The Iliad and the movie
Troy have similar content. When I read the Iliad and watched the movie, the movie sounds more
believable then the Iliad. Toward the beginning of the Iliad a conversation between Achilles, Tetis
and Zeus was not mentioned the movie. Probably because most people would automatically

Amistad War
The touchiest issue that somebody can bring up in the early nineteenth century is slavery. The
Amistad, paradoxically a ship that means companionship, was the location of one of the utmost
historic slave upheavals ran by black Africans in 1839. This rebellion gained substantial attention
from the American population, the media, as well as other intercontinental interests. It was the
black insurgence on board the Amistad that ignited the fundamental concerns of legislations, slavery
, sectionalism, faith, trade rights, and anti British sentiment that had previously beleaguered the
country at the time of the Amistad event. The controversy drew the whole world into the battle
over social and property rights, a dispute that alienated our nation... Show more content on

The north and south became progressively separated over slavery and states rights to create
regulations that affect their citizens. Amistad emphasizes the firmly entrenched divisions between
the North and South, especially when it comes to the institution of slavery during the trial
between the two sides. When the judge grants freedom to the slaves the opposing side was very
upset and was not afraid to show their feelings. Also, there was a coincidence in the movie when
the slave s lawyer had been struck on the head by someone who disagreed with his actions. This
shows the tension between the north and the south because so many people invested their time and
heart into this that trial for the slaves to be able to go back to their homeland.
Eric Foner, a professor at History at Columbia University states that, Amistad presents a highly
misleading account of the case s historical significance, in the process sugarcoating the relationship
between the American judiciary and slavery. The film gives the distinct impression that the
Supreme Court was convinced by Adams plea to repudiate slavery in favor of the natural rights of
man, thus taking a major step on the road to abolition. By this, Foner is stating that the movie is
not as historically accurate as it could have

Romania s Struggle With Communism
To the world outside, the masked country of Romania, although rarely viewed in media, was
known as a picturesque country filled with many profitable resources such as its fertile land,
petroleum, and mineral deposits, however, behind the Iron Curtain, lay a more secretive nation,
deprived of its rights, ignored by its leaders, and suffering under the taxing regime of Communism.
Before Communism was administered, Romania had a trivial communist party which was often
overlooked in politics. At the turn of World War II, in 1941, Central European ideals influenced
Romania, bringing light of a regime that valued civil equity. During the war, to prevent Russia from
overthrowing Romania, they sided with Germany, causing Soviets to occupy in... Show more

In its claims to make Romanian children receive the finest education in the world, Communist
leaders, including Stefan Voitec, the Minister of Education, limited the access of education and
narrowed educational rights in order to indoctrinate Communist values and instill a sense of
faithfulness to Communism in the Romanian youth. Throughout the years 1947 to 1989, although
the regime was not embraced, communistic beliefs were integrated into the educational system
forcefully, and all resistance towards the reforms were squandered (Phillips 7). In order to
encourage and inflict their values upon students, special privileges were given to Communist
children, trained professors in universities and secondary schools were purged and replaced with
pro Communist politicians and intellectuals, and university acceptance was based off of political
alliances rather than pre university scores, ensuring that educational advances would only be
provided to Communist learners. The Church, which promotes Article 26 of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, stating that everyone has the right to education, teaches that the gift
of knowledge is a basic human right that all individuals must receive despite their religious, ethnic,
or political disagreements, however, when educational facilities deny the acceptance of a bright

Steps for Conducting a Postmortem
Conducting Post Mortem The following are the steps taken for conducting an incident post
mortem; first, is to get a clear picture of the state of affairs. It is critical to analyze network maps,
talk to the key witnesses of the disaster, learning the occurrences from the data available from the
weather department in a bid to collect evidence. At this stage getting every log available is useful,
thereby casting a wide net in order to capture the details of the occurrences including the causes.
This includes getting information from all the relevant organizations involved in weather
forecasting. In addition to this the availability of imaging will be helpful as part of the information
on the incident. In the same line collecting data from other sources such as the internet including
logs are also fundamental in establishing a complete scenario of the causes, happenings and
aftermath of the disaster. Second, it is important to gather a set of incident hypotheses. A quality
hypothesis is critical. This is a hypothesis that can be disapproved or approved, supported or
nullified by the available information. The hypothesis set the tone of the feedback to senior
government officials on the performance of various response teams during the event. Third,
conducting an interview with all the response teams will be helpful in gathering detailed
information about what happened as well as the participation of each team. This requires thorough
preparation of timeline of the event.

During this warning period, one can save the data and switch off the computer safely. But during
the low battery indication, if the computer or load is not switched off, it remains on back up mode.
After the end of back up time, system switches off automatically, due to activation of battery s deep
discharge cut out circuit, which reduces the power consumption from the battery to a negligible
value of about 90mA.

Examples Of Bird Symbolism In Macbeth

Bird, Bird, Bird, Bird is the Word
Birds such as pigeons may be insignificant to New Yorkers, but other species are symbolic in
cultures elsewhere. They are often used in literature metaphorically to represent someone or
something. A prominent example of birdsymbolism is in the famous play, Romeo and Juliet by
Shakespeare where Juliet is associated with the dove to represent her purity and innocence.
Shakespeare also utilizes bird symbolism in another play, Macbeth, to emphasize how Macbeth
changes throughout the play and to foreshadow Duncan s death.

Lady Macbeth foreshadows the death of Duncan by saying, The raven himself is hoarse / That
croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan / Under my battlements (1.5.45 47). Here, Lady Macbeth
compares the messenger to a raven , saying that his voice is hoarse . In some cultures, the raven
is believed to smell death before the occurrence of death. In deeper context, Lady Macbeth is
saying that the voice of the raven is hoarse as a result of mimicking the same words over and
over again that imply Duncan s death. Because the raven has the ability to smell death, a
conclusion can be made that Duncan s death is inevitable. Another example of foreshadowing
through the use of birds is in the conversation between Ross and an old man. The old man says,
On Tuesday last / A falcon, towering in her pride of place, / Was by a mousing owl hawk d at
and kill d (2.4.14 16). This means that last Tuesday, a falcon was flying around a place where she
thought was safe but an unexpected owl killed her. The falcon represents Duncan who sees
Macbeth as his loyal subject and makes an assumption that Macbeth s home is safe. However,
Macbeth, represented by the owl, murders him and takes away his power and throne, or
metaphorically, the falcon s pride of place

Our Bodies Run On Fuel
Our bodies run on fuel. When our tanks become empty, we have to make a pit stop to replenish.
But what happens if we don t provide ourselves with a good source of energy? A poor choice of
fuel could degrade our engines and leave us stranded on the highway to good health. In order to
maintain peak performance, we need to pay more attention to what s happening in the food
industry and educate ourselves on how to make healthy food choices. Imports are a large aspect of
the United States food industry. The USDA says 17 percent of food consumed in America in 2012
was imported, and this number is steadily increasing. But according to the 2012 International Food

This proves some of the risks associated with imported food, but if we understand the standards
of production in the countries from which we receive products, we can try to prevent these
problems (TribLive Lifestyles). Along with the origin of our food, the type of food we eat plays
a large impact on our health. For example, an excess of certain foods can lead to various
problems such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Diabetes is a chronic illness that affects
the production of insulin in the pancreas and the way our bodies process sugar. There are two
types of diabetes, but type 2 diabetes is most commonly associated with diet because it results
from being overweight. Obesity can cause our bodies to become insulin resistant, which means
even though our body continues to produce insulin, our cells don t use it like they should.
Focusing on a healthy diet low in fat and high in fiber as well as living an active lifestyle can
reduce our risk of developing this disease (WebMD Type 2 Diabetes: The Basics). But diabetes
isn t the only possible result of a poor diet; heart disease can also result from poor food habits such
as consuming excess sodium and fat. A diet high in saturated and trans fat also has a strong
correlation with the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack,

Hunting Should Be Allowed

Hunting Should Be Allowed Hunting is beneficial to our society and therefore should be allowed.
Historically human beings have been pursuing wild animals to provide their families with food,
clothing, and shelter. In modern times the need for hunting for survival has lessened because of the
development of animal husbandry and agriculture. There were times in history worldwide when
hunting became profitable and hunters began killing animals for their fur, skins, and meat. Then it
became necessary to put regulations in to effect to preserve wildlife as well as to somewhat
appease the critics who felt hunting should be illegal. Three main reasons why hunting should be

The hunter will not only benefit by this knowledge within his hunt but also will know what animals
to pursue when hunting. Ill or deformed animals often give the hunter a sense of empathy when

Sport hunting should not be banned when examining information from this angle as it affects us all
in general. Hunting also provides excitement and a close connection with nature. While hunting, the
hunter often connects with nature while sitting in silence. He has the opportunity to observe his
surrounding and become familiar with his hunting ground. Knowing the plant life and growth rate
of the area crops is very important part to being a good hunter. This knowledge comes through
conservation of the land being managed for hunting. Through this land management, the plant and
animal life become more abundant. Hunting should be allowed and protesters should make the
effort to become more knowledge about the benefits of hunting. There are many environmental
benefits to society and to wildlife. The health of the animals is important to hunters as they

Persuasive Essay On Pedestrians
Walk Your Wheels: The Danger of Bicycles in Pedestrian Sidewalks
I glance down at my phone for a moment and I realize that my 15 minute margin of travel time to
race across campus to my class is dwindling; I look up only to find an individual on a bicycle
hurdling toward me, clearly, incapable of stopping in time, I scramble out of the way in an attempt
to save myself from becoming roadkill. This is a common occurrence for student pedestrians on
their way to class given the increasing number of bicyclists and skateboarders that refrain from
following university transportation laws, however, instead of criminalizing the act of using these
modes of transportation on pedestrian sidewalks the university should make it safer and more
efficient for these individuals to share the roads with cars by installing bicycle lanes. This issue is
important to all campus residents, since the incorrect use of transportation could jeopardize their
safety and should be carefully considered in order to prevent accidents. This proposal argument
will aim at persuading university officials, specifically those in charge of the university
transportation services, to reconsider their handling of bicycle and other non motorized
transportation rules and safety on campus. There are many rules that bicyclists and other alternative
transportation users must follow, for example, bicycles [are] not [to] be ridden on sidewalks or any

Left Neglected By Lisa Genova
Left Neglected by Lisa Genova is a novel based on a woman who gets into a car accident, suffers
from a stroke, and ends up developing left neglect. Left neglect, otherwise known as Hemispatial
neglect, develops after a stroke or brain damage to the right side of the brain. Left neglect is a
neuropsychological condition that causes an attention deficit to the awareness of the left side
of space. A person with left neglect has difficulty processing and perceiving stimuli on the left
side of their body. It can affect a person s visual perception where they are unable to see things or
interpret them on the left side of them. Typically a person with left neglect forgets that their left
side exists. Someone who suffers from left neglect may not be able to dress themselves on their
left side; they may not eat the food on the left side of their plate, or be able to read a left side of a
book. It can cause issues with their mobility where they are unaware of their left extremities,
which can lead to problems in walking or any task using bilateral coordination or skills. Sarah,
the main character in the novel, had a very busy, fulfilling life before her accident. She worked
as a human resources consultant at a very large company. This job required her to work very
long, busy hours. Her career could be considered a spillover, where her job affects and interrupts
parts of her social and family life also. She is always doing something in her office, while having

The people then who live on the street are seen negatively due to their different way of living,
rather than ourselves living in our houses and apartments. The cities and the streets are often
perceived negatively, such as dangerous, crowded, dreary and busy for example. This then has
repercussions on how street people are viewed, as the identity of their place of living affects
their own identity. Places like people are attributed identity. Places can be diverse, noisy, relaxing
and welcoming. Some of these identities are imagined, some are real. People give these identities
to places through their own identity, in return for this, peoples identities are connected to where
they live. Where we live will impact on how we are seen, it is through a process called discourse
that our identities are positioned, dependant on where we live, this could be in the cities or the

Descriptive Essay On The Experience Of A City
Our destination that afternoon was a place called Daylesford, which looked, wHen we arrived,
more like a movie set than like an actual working town. The buildings on the main street were
two stories tall, and made of wood, like buildings in the Old West, but brightly painted. Here was
the shop selling handmade soaps shaped like petit fours. Here was the forgery, the jammery,
your source for moisturizer. If Dodge City had been founded and maintained by homosexuals,
this is what it might have looked like. The spas are fantastic, Pat said, and she parked the car in
front of a puppet shop. From there we walked down a slight hill, passing a flock of sulfur crested
cockatoos, just milling about, pulling worms from the front lawn of a bed and breakfast. This
was the moment when familiarity slipped away, and Australia seemed not just distant but
impossibly foreign. Will you look at that, I said. It was Pat who had made the lunch reservation.
The restaurant was attached to a hotel, and on arriving we were seated beside a picture window.
The view was of a wooden deck and, immediately beyond it, a small lake. On a sunny day, it was
probably blinded, but the winter sky was like brushed aluminum. The water beneath it had the
same dull sheen, and its surface reflected nothing. Even before the menus were handed out, you
could see what sort of a place this was. Order the pork and it might resemble a rough hewn raft,
stranded by tides on a narrow beach of polenta. Fish might come with

Letter of Interest for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority
Dear Ladies of the Gamma Theta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated: I am
seeking membership into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated because I want to grow and
contribute my time and talent to an illustrious, originating organization. I aspire to be a part of a
sisterhood where I can express myself, and have my skills nourished by prospering African
American women. This summer I was involved in a traumatic car accident and survived,
tragically two of my dearest friends did not. On the car third spin I squeezed my eyes shut, and
braced myself for a collision. Suddenly, the car jolted forward and flipped. At that very moment
I realized that I am here for a greater purpose, and vowed to take the necessary steps to fulfill that
purpose. God is not finished with me yet, and I do not want to sit on my Lord. Alpha Kappa
Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated purpose is to be of service to all mankind dealing with critical
issues in communities domestically and internationally. What I have grown to understand an
envision a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to be, I accredit largely to the
ladies of the Gamma Theta chapter. This has the result of attending many of the chapter s events
during my time at Hampton thus far. One of my favorite events was a screening of a documentary
Girls Rising. I learned to appreciate every opportunity to learn and gain knowledge because in
some parts of the world girls are restricted from receiving an education. A

Social Responsibility Of A Business
Introduction Cohen wrote extensively on the work of Drucker especially in the areas of business
and nonprofit management. However, Cohen s article on social responsibility drew a lot attention
from other scholars like Friedman. In view of this, this paper will discuss and define the concept of
social responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society; how the perspectives
align with that of Drucker; comparing Cohen s opinion with that of Friedman and finally
determines which of the two individual s opinion best aligns with the current business climate
promoting a green environment.
Concept of social responsibility According to Cohen (2009), the concept of social responsibility
entail that every organization must assume the full responsibility for its impact on employees, the
environment, customers, and whomever and whatever it touches (p. 31). On the other hand,
Murphy (2009) explains that social responsibility pertains to an entity s ability to respond to a
person, situation or issue in a certain way (p. 245). Comparatively, Carroll Buchholtz (2003)
revealed that the concept of social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and
philanthropic responsibilities in addition to their responsibilities to earn fair return for investors
and comply with the law (p. 36). This means that the society will look for major organizations
where profits and nonprofit could be derived to take care of some of the ills in the society.

Australian Indigenous Rights
Aboriginal civil rights have been a highly debated topic in Australia for the past century. From the
1920 s to the constitutional referendum in 1967 many events occurred that shaped the advancement
of Aboriginal rights. The sheer volume of significant events during this time period are too great to
enlighten on all of them so I will aim to touch on the rights of Aboriginal people before this time
period, the foundation of Aboriginal political activism, the Day of Mourning and the
Cummeragunja walk off, International pressure against Australia, and the 1967 referendum. It was
not until the late 1930 s and 1940 s that really caused the Aboriginal rights movement to really surge
with the combination of international pressure on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main importance of this group was essentially being one of the first Aboriginal political
organizations to form to take action against state and federal legislation in Australia.
During the 1920 s and 1930 s Australia began to see a rise in political activism among the
Aboriginal people. During this time period Australia saw Aboriginal political organizations being
founded in New South Wales, Western Australia, Victoria, and South Australia: the AAPA, The
Native Union, the AAL, the Australian Aborigines Association (AAA), the Euralian Association,
and the Aborigines Progressive Association (APA) (Attwood, 1999). All of these political
organizations fought for similar rights for aboriginal people, but they were all fought on local
levels. The two organizations that were somewhat successful at becoming national organizations
and representing Aborigines throughout Australia were the Australian Aborigines League and the
Aborigines Progressive Association. Both groups fought for similar causes. These two groups
although advocating for policy change in different regions of Australia worked together and
organized two significant events that occurred during the 1930 s.
Arthur Burdeu was considered the creator of the Australian Aborigines League, which formed in the
1930 s. The major significance that lead to the AAL becoming a national organization rather than a
local organization was set in how the members viewed the role of the League. Arthur Burdeu

Child Marketing Is A Social Problem
The video consuming kids throws greatly needed radiance on the deeds of an unrelenting multi
billion dollar advertising machine that sells junk food, bogus educational stuff, family cars and
ferocious video games to children and their parents. Drawing on the approaches of health care
scientists, children activitists and organizational insiders, the video concentrates on the volatile
growth of child marketing. It achieves this through deregulation where the youth have now adopted
the latest improvements in marketing especially in psychology and neuroscience (Vrany, 2017).
This has seen American children transform into one of the most influential and lucrative customer
demographics in the globe. The video reposes against the wholesale... Show more content on

As a matter of fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics discourages too much of screen media
exposure for children. There is proof that extended and regular exposure to screen media may lead
to reduced concentration among kids.
The problem of social marketing is prevalent in developed countries where government and
campaigners contest improved child advertising standards with companies arguing that this issues
depend on individual and parental choices. Children start their consumer journey during their first
years of existence which make them to definitely deserve immense concern as consumers during
this period. Studies show that child marketing of today cannot be compared with that of the past
(Shan,2010). Today, marketing by child psychologists is made feasible by improved technology.
Many years back, companies were using less than hundred million dollars annually marketing to
children. Currently, more than seventeen billion is being used in the marketing field of children
(Keyway et al., 2001).
In the documentary, stealth advertising is seen in an organization by the name GIA (Girls
Intelligence Agency). The company uses product placement at sleep over parties. This proves that
marketing to our young ones is ubiquitous, with various cash trapped academic institutions
accepting sponsorship from organizations. This means that brand names

The Deregulation and Growth of Financial Markets
Q1. How did deregulation of financial markets and the large flow of capital between countries
contributed to vulnerability of the contemporary global financial system.
Deregulation is defined as the removal of rules and restrictions, when this occurred within the
financial markets it allows financial institutes more freedom, it encouraged new ways of lending
and made funds more accessible to lenders.
Deregulation has been ongoing in financial markets for more than 30 year, this has allowed
financial institutions to self regulate and ultimately police themselves. Former Federal Reserve
chairman Alan Greenspan supported by successive administrations and congress were actively
pushed by powerful financial industry at every turn to strip away safeguards that would have
avoided vulnerabilities in the contemporary global financial systems. U.S. government allowed
financial firms to pick their preferred regulators. From 1999 to 2008, the US financial sector
expended $2.7 billion in reported federal lobbying expenses; individuals and political action
committees in the sector made more than $1 billion in campaign contributions. What is most
troubling is the extent to which the nation was deprived of the necessary strength and independence
of the oversight necessary to safeguard financial stability . (Commission, 2011)

The Engstrom Auto Mirror Plant Case Summary
The next reason is Ron believes by laying off employees will help generate more profit for the
company. That is not the cases though, He made things worse for the fact he only treated the
symptoms. Observing this case at a human behavioral point of view. The company sales were
declining. Because of the issues, the manager had to cut the work force in production. When that
happened, the remaining employees became alarmed that their jobs were no longer stable.
Affecting the employee s ability in production. This can also lead to poor quality products, which
could cost the loss of clientele. Ultimately by letting go of employee s and getting rid of the
Scanlon plan, he negatively impacted the employee s production quality. Without reinforcement of
good work behavior and the idea of an insecure job, the social behavior of the workforce is

Ron Bent should have thoroughly evaluated the whole situation. The cases study clearly stated
that the organization was facing a crisis. Which was a downward turn of sales in the past two
years. This decline in sales was the reason behind Ron Bent having to lay off twenty percent of
his employees. Productivity was dropping, product quality issues had begun to surface, and
employee morale was low, I believe all these issues were all occurring because of the lay off in
employment. They have faced this situation before, the solution to that previous issue was the

was critical in building morale, product quality, increasing productivity. Leading in too a huge
turnaround for the company. That was not the case this time around, into the second year of decline

The Devastation Of The Hurricane Katrina
In the history of the United States of America, Hurricane Katrina was known as one of the worst
hurricanes in the world. The hurricane was a combination of tropical waters and gushing winds. It
was the vicious hurricane that caused severe damage to the citizens of the United States of
America. The amazing city known for its southern style, Cajun cuisines, jazz music and its
celebration of Mardi Gras will never be the same. New Orleans, Louisianawas changed forever in
August 2005 when this category five hurricane left the city devastated. The catastrophic storm tore
through the city of New Orleans and surrounding areas destroying everything in its path and killing
hundreds of people.
For millions of people living near the Gulf and Atlantic coasts of the United States, a team of
weather experts in Miami were helping make a difference between another hurricane disaster and
safe evacuations in the wake of the oncoming storm. These experts are trained to interpret data from
satellites, weather stations and specialized computer equipment to give the public advance warning
of hurricanes barreling toward any shores (Treaster, 2007, p. 26).
In August 2005, the national weather and the national hurricane center issued reports during the
upcoming week on the strength and fast pace as it approached the Gulf of Mexico (Treaster, 2007,
p. 44). On August 23, 2005, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Florida issued the first
advisory about the tropical storm (Brinkley, 2006, p. 4). At

The Specific Setting Therapeutic Use Of Self
In this specific setting therapeutic use of self is a key to treat the patients and reach their individual
goals, the knowledge acquired goes hand to hand with the therapist characteristics as a person, the
empathy, respect, sensitivity, and personality in general has to be beneficial for the patients and
appropriate for the specific environment, knowing how to behave and how to apply this personal
characteristics to therapyleads to extraordinary outcomes which benefits the patients and makes
them build a stronger trust with the therapist (Early, 2009).
The three types of dependence are detrimental dependence, which is excessive dependence by the
patient on the health professional. Constructive dependence, which is more productive, and Self
dependence, which is the ability to depend on oneself, to identify and solve one s own problems
(Early, 2009). In this particular setting the dependence demonstrated by the patients is constructive
dependence, most of the patients were productive and only relied on the staff in situations that they
are not capable of manage by them self.
On a violent attempt or insult by a patient, the first thing to do is realize your limitations and know
when you are capable of handle things and when to look for help, there are some ways to calm a
patient such as: listen to what is bothering the patient, acknowledge the patients concern, keep some
physical distance between you and the patient, speak softly but demonstrate control over the
situation,

Machiavelli And The Apology Of The Prince
Machiavelli writes The Prince centuries after Plato documents Socrates in Crito and The
Apology. Despite the different time periods, both Machiavelli and Socrates experience times of
turmoil where the concept of democracy was questioned. However, the different time periods
cause the views and purposes of Machiavelli s writing to largely differ from Socrates.
Machiavelli writes in a time of turmoil where Italy was a bunch of small, fragmented states and
when the Medici s struggled to regain power after being expelled. This causes his views to be more
cynical and pessimistic in comparison to Socrates. If Socrates were to read The Prince, he would
disagree with Machiavelli s beliefs and deem his portrayal of a prince as immoral. Their... Show

Socrates contradicting views are presented when he claims, Not from money does virtue come, but
from virtue comes money and all of the other good things for human beings both privately and
publicly (Apology, 30b). Socrates disputes that fortuna comes from virtue and presents a cause and
effect relationship, contrary to the interconnected relationship as presented by Machiavelli. A
prince should use philosophical thinking to question and explore many ideas in order to amass
success. Just having money and luck, on the other hand, will not lead to more success because the
prince is unable to think about how he can execute his rulings. Through his views, he connotes how
the ruler cannot start his reign with both fortuna and virtue. This contradicts with Machiavelli s
prince because Socrates disputes the lack of emphasis on fortune.
However, it is plausible to argue that fortuna does not lead to success as seen in Socrates legacy.
Socrates legacy is evidence that virtue is the more valuable of the two and the unnecessity of
fortuna. Even if Socrates was a poor man, who has found his own philosophy in life, he is a
heavily respected figure today. He turned down Crito s fortune and power, and died as a martyr ,
leading to an increased remembrance of his philosophy. His legacy has lasted thousands of years
without fortuna. Although Socrates was not a ruler, he is one of the fathers of democracy, so he is
a figure that is

Analysis Of Buffalo Bill
Disorders that Buffalo Bill Has Buffalo Bill suffered from various psychological disorders, the
first disorder that I will focus on is Buffalo Bill s Anti Social Personality Disorder (ASPD). The
text states that a someone who suffers from the ASPD as a psychological condition exhibited by
individuals who are basically unsocialized and whose behavior pattern brings them repeatedly into
conflict with society (Schmalleger, p. 132). Buffalo Bill would imprison the overweight woman
victims that he abducted in a large dry well in the basement of the home that he lived in. Buffalo

PTSD can be characterized by both psychological and physical symptoms, and people who suffer
from it will generally experience impaired functioning in various aspects of their lives
(Schmalleger, p. 246). In the film The Silence of the Lambs the screenplay really doesn t
provide too much insight on Buffalo Bill s childhood, but there is implications that Buffalo Bill
had a traumatic childhood. If the film The Silence of the Lambs provided additional information
on Buffalo Bill s childhood, we could have a better understanding of any specific traumatic or
terrifying experiences that lead to the development of Buffalo Bill s PTSD. Dr. Hannibal Lecter
in the film The Silence of the Lambs, tells Detective Clarice Starling Billy was not born a
criminal, but made one by years of systematic abuse . Due to Buffalo Bill s PTSD, it was clear
that he had feelings of anger, self hatred and wanted to kill women so that he could ultimately
become one after he stitched his victims skin together and made a woman suit for himself. Buffalo
Bill ultimately wanted to turn himself into someone that he didn t hate, so he felt like by wearing
the woman suit and becoming a woman he could accomplish that. These feelings could have been
a combination of both the Anti Social Personality Disorder (ASPD) and also Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD). Summarize disorders here Criminological theories that apply to Buffalo Bill I

Sonnenallee Film Essay
Leander Haussmann s film Sonnenallee (1999) has been the subject of much criticism, this
criticism centred on the issue of ostalgia. (Allan, 2000; 11) Critics have dismissed the film as
being an exercise in ostalgia, some having gone so far as to claim that in its representation of life
in the GDR that it is downright dangerous . (Dale, 2000; 11) What this criticism betrays, however,
is a very particular hypocrisy. It is symptomatic of a colonial mentality existing between East and
West, the West in its criticism of Eastern remembrance seeking to define its identity by dictating
how it could remember its past. Ostalgia then is not about documentarian reconstruction; a faithful
memory of life in the GDR as it was, but a response to the present,... Show more content on

It plays with the distorted views of the West all the while acknowledging but justifying its own
distorted recollections acknowledging also that it is selective reconstruction. In this way it
challenges the very criticism which it faced with respect to the concept of ostalgia, the film being
both a justification and critical look at ostalgia which emerges as a reaction to its present
circumstances rather than the past. The film explicitly takes leave of Stasi obsessed portrayals of
life in East Germany in order to recover a self determined notion of identity as the Ossi struggled
with the patronising expectation of assimilation which was imposed upon them. Cormican said it
best when he said: If East Germans sometimes remember it too fondly... then West Germans often
reject East German s remembrances too callously . (Cormican, 2000; 11) By speaking back, both
critiquing the West and enabling it to understand the situation which bore the concept of ostalgia,
the film functions as a reconciliatory space for East and West, ostalgia addressing the colonising
tendency of the West towards Ossi

Ww1 Historical Analysis
The Interpretation of World War One from the 1920 s to the Present
The interpretation of history has changed based on differences such as the time and place of the
person who is recording it. These two similar texts being compared are separated by the date the
book was written. The older book was written in 1921, by Ferdinand Schevill, and is titled A
Political History of Modern Europe from the Reformation to the Present Day . The second book,
was written in 2007 by Lynn Hunt, is titled The making of the West: Peoples and Cultures . In both
of these textbooks the history of World War Iis discussed, but the way the history is interpreted
shows a large quantity of differences. When comparing these two pieces, Schevill s book appears to

This growth in population leads to the idea of marriage reformation. Reformers thought that
improving both the quality of children born and the conditions within marriage would solve the
population problem (Hunt 766). Since populations were becoming too large, many people
believed in eugenics, defined as a set of ideas about the importance of producing superior people
through selective breeding and of preventing the disabled and others deemed inferior from
polluting one s nation or race (Hunt 767). These reformation ideas leads to improved marriage
laws throughout Europe. Countries legalized divorce, and Sweden even made men s and women s
control over property equal. Hunt s text focuses on the social and cultural issues that lead up to
1914, when the war erupts. Schevill s text takes a different route into the road to the start of the
First World War.
In Schevill s textbook, there is no focus on the social and cultural issues of the Europeans, but
instead a focus on diplomatic issues. Schevill titled this chapter leading up to World War I
European Diplomatic Relations from 1871 to 1914 . Schevill gives a detailed look into the
European treaties and alliances that would cause the outbreak of the war. One of the important
topics discussed leading up to World War One in this text is the European alliances. The text refers
to these as the triple and dual

In the course of the trial, it is established that code reds are standard in Guantanamo Bay as a
means of enforcing discipline and getting sloppy Marines to follow procedure. Kaffee especially
goes after Kendrick, particularly over the fact that he denied Dawson a promotion after the latter

Lieutenant Colonel Markinson has gone absent without leave since the incident, but he resurfaces
in Kaffee s car during the trial, revealing that Jessep never intended to transfer Santiago off the
base as previously claimed but created the transfer orders as part of a cover up long after Santiago
s death. Kaffee is unable to find evidence corroborating these claims and announces his intention to
have Markinson testify. Rather than publicly dishonor himself and the Marine Corps, Markinson
sends a letter to Santiago s parents, blaming his own weakness for the loss of their son, outfits
himself in full Dress Blue A uniform and commits suicide by shooting himself in the mouth with his
service pistol. Without Markinson s crucial testimony, Kaffee believes that the case is lost and
returns home after a drunken stupor, having come to regret that he fought the case instead of
considering the plea bargain.

  • 2. Conquest And The Start Of Colonialism Conquest In the era preceding the age of conquest and the start of colonialism around the late 1400s was a dark time in Europe both socially and economically. Under the feudalist system, there was strict social classes which made upward mobility nearly impossible, even for those born into lower level nobility. Morale was also waning as pestilence and war persisted. The bubonic plague in the mid 1300s ravaged Europeand by some estimates, cut the population by half. France and England fought in the Hundred Years War that quite literally meant that the region was in a state of war for a century, between 1337 to 1453. Additionally, one of the last vestiges of the Christian Eastern Roman Empire, Constantinople, fell to the Muslim Ottomans in 1453. This event not only hurt western esteem, but also cut off the major trade route from Europe to Asia. All of this meant that Europe, both the courts and the Church were seeking a way to increase prestige and wealth. Conquest was the response, by allowing nations to find new land to possess, and new resources to exploit, and especially new enemies to defeat. The period in the late 1400s is sometimes euphemistically called, The Age of Exploration, connoting ideas of discovery, knowledge building, and awe. In Amerigo Vespucci s (1454 1512) first letter to Lorenzo Di Pierfrancesco De Medici, Vespucci spends more than half the letter describing the land of the Americas, often commenting on flora and fauna as a marvel (Vespucci, ... • 3. Comparing Frankenstein And Frankendoodle And Frankenstein Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages many adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. Spongebob Squarepants, a popular children s television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for all ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the similarities and difference between the two texts; Frankendoodle as well as Frankenstein . By looking at the allusion apparent in Frankendoodle , it is clear to see that many of the more popularized characteristics are found throughout the text, such as; a name given to the creature, the creature being aggressive thoughtless monster, and the creator having a sidekick. Fundamentally, the idea of a creature being born into this world through unconventional means is clearly demonstrated in both texts. Frankendoodle shadows Mary Shelley s original text, Frankenstein but allows it to highlight the Frankenstein that was born through many forms of popular culture. Spongebob Squarepants is a children s television show that aired periodically from the early 1990 s into 2010. It s production takes place in Nickelodeon Studios by main producer, Stephen Hillenburg. Some of the most noteable people in the production of Spongebob Squarepants are; Tom Kenny (voice of Spongebob), Bill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. California Immigration Benefits California is a beautiful place to consider settling down in, with large cities full of attractions, and a diverse populace gleaming with culture, California isn t just the place for you it s the place for everyone. California was desirable territory for many countries ever since it s very discovery. The first people from across the sea s to discover Californiawere Spanish missionaries in the 1700s. California wasn t even US territory until acquired through The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The story of Sutter s Mill had spread across the country a few years after this timely treaty. This inspired settlers to flock west in certainty that they would return home with bellies full of gold. This gold rush exploded California s economy almost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Crime rate in California has taken a dive from a large surge lasting from the 1970s through 1995. If the crime rates in California still concern you then locations like Santa Clara, Contra Costa and Alameda might be appealing to you. Something you will have to consider before living in California is taxes. California stands to have one of the highest tax rates in the entire US with base sales tax of 7.5%, higher than anywhere else in the country, and a top marginal income tax rate of 13.3%, the highest state income tax rate in the country. Those of particularly large incomes will have to pay a lot of that income to the state of California. If you re searching for a job in any technology field then you will have no trouble finding such a job in California with Silicon Valley s mass amount of tech companies. If you are perhaps looking to raise a child in California this would be advised against. California s educational system has been placed as one of the worst in the country multiple times and little action has been taken upon this by the California government. Robert Oaks, spokesman, has said California is moving in a positive direction. We ve dramatically increased our investment in education. If this statement holds truth is to be seen ... • 5. Compare The Structure Of Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells Vicki Millard Unit 10193 Introduction to Cell Biology 1.Compare the structures of Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells There are two different types of cells; prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Both cells have differences, including the shape and size of the cell. Prokaryote cells are found in bacteria such as E coli, Streptococcus and Staphylococcus, whilst eukaryote cells are found in plants, animals and fungi. Eukaryotic cells have many components which lead to the cell having a much more complex structure and are larger in size, measuring between 10 and 100 micrometres in diameter. Prokaryotic cells, on the other hand, are much smaller, measuring between 0.2 and 2 micrometres and having a much simpler structure. The two cells share similarities such as; containing DNA, ribosomes and cytoplasms. According to Bassett, The ribosomes are told, what kind of protein to make and when to make it via the direction of the DNA. [Bassett. Dawsonera.com. P. 83. 2005.] DNA in a prokaryotic cell is described to be a single circular chromosome, whereas the eukaryotic cell has multiple linear chromosomes. However, the main comparison between the two cells is that the eukaryotic cell contains a nucleus, whereas the prokaryotic cell lacks a nucleus. Figure 1 The Eukaryotic Cell (AQA GCSE Biology, P.86 Woodward, C. Houghton, T. 2010) Figure 2 The Prokaryotic Cell (AQA GCSE Biology, P.88 Woodward, C. • 6. Citizens United V. Federal Election Commission Money is a form of payment in America, money has little to much value. It can be seen as a coin or as paper, which has been issued legally by the government. Money can be used in exchange for certain things a person or group desires. With money in peoples hands, it can drive them to make certain decisions with much power. People in politics use a form of money to pay for their beliefs in the United Statesof America. For many years, elections have been organized based on privately funded campaigns. When a candidate is running for presidency it becomes very expensive and difficult to manage on their own. Therefore if the candidate is wealthy, their campaign is set to go and continue. If the candidate needs financial assistance in order to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission was to regulate the spendings of candidates campaign, but it failed to succeed. The Supreme Court ruled 5 4 in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. (Bentley, 2017) The case was ruled in favor of big business donating private funds to campaigns. They argued because the first amendment protects the right to speak of many corporations and unions, whether or not people see them as human, therefore the are aloud to donate money to a candidate. (Bentley, 2017) In the academic journal written by Bentley, he States the Court majority (Justices Kennedy, Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas) argued, although government has the authority to prevent corruption or the appearance of corruption, it has no place in determining whether large political expenditures are either of those things, so it may not impose spending limits on that basis. This meaning the government cannot enforce spending limits on private donors due to the government not being able to identify the big businesses as corrupted . Since the government cannot label an organization as corrupt or unjust, therefore the donor can continue to assist the candidate. The main problem is the United States of America seems to avoid this. There is a clear problem with Citizens United being able to continue donating money to candidates without giving them so much power. This can be stopped through a constitutional amendment to strip away the corporations of their rights. (Bentley, 2017) By doing this, there will be a very successful campaign for future candidates due to there being an equal amount of money being distributed to them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. What Are The Four Basic Techniques In Physical Assessment 16. Demonstrate the four basic techniques utilized in the pysical assessment. The four basic techniques utilized in the physical assessment are inspection, palpation, percussion, and ascultation. To begin the techniques I will first wash my hands, and then make the patient as comfortable as possible. Then I will start by inspecting the patient. I will observe the patient s state of consciousness by having the patient repeat their name and date of birth along with telling me where they are at, and what the date is. If there are any abnoramalities their, I will document them. Next I will observe their overall state of health, look for any signs of physical distress. I will then look for any lacerations, bruises, visible lumps or bumps, or things such as moles and birth marks, and body symmetry. Again, if anything is abnormal I will document my findings. • 8. Race The Tempest The representation of race in the play is eurocentric as Caliban s physical appearance marks him as different and therefore sub human, this can be seen in his name which is an anagram of cannibal, a european preconception of others [Source]. Furthermore the Europeans throughout the play view Caliban as a property that might be sold in Europe for his freakishness. Trinculo says Were I in England now as once I was and had but this fish painted, not a holiday fool there would give a piece of silver [2.2.28 30] and Antonio and Sebastian see him as a marketable good that can be bought and sold: Very like. It is the clichГ© story of the rightful ruler who is overthrown by his enemies, but manages to restore his status and live happily ever after. However, the play fails to question Calibans position and view as a savage and slave, by only acting out the treatment of natives people by Europeans. Prospero is a bigot who validates and legitimise his treatment, intolerance and prejudice of Caliban due to his supposedly savage behaviour of resisting submission and his attempted rape of Miranda. He is seen as the Other , different from Europeans and therefore naturally inferior, But thy vile/race/Though thou didst learn had that in t which good/natures/Could not abide to be with; therefore wast thou/Deservedly confined into this rock [1.2.430 435] ). Caliban is a representative of the indigenous people exploited by European colonizer, Prospero, and the previous quotation show how it is his race and nature that make him inferior, even though the supposedly benevolent Europeans tried so to make him human as Prospero says ( A devil, a born devil, on whose nature/Nurture can never stick; on whom my pains,/Humanely taken, all, all lost, quite lost; )[4.1.212 214]. A land rich with culture, history, and many parts of geography all on its own. China s history is as long as most histories are for most countries. Varying beliefs and opinions on when China s history really starts is thought and still is speculated today. It still is spoken about more times than most people can count. • 10. Sexual Gigi Hadid Ad merely an accessory to the vehicle than a separate entity. Whereas a postfeminism argument can be that the half naked model drove the luxury car around, seeing as how she is holding a helmet. That she was doing stunts and or reckless driving around to showcase the car and decided it would attract more publicity to be in what appears to be a swimsuit. The simple fact alone could be that the women is a power body in society and, as previously stated chose to be dressed the way she is doing tasks with the luxury vehicle. Another sense of the meaning could be the intersectionality approach that is yet again, another cis white femalethat is presumably another famous face in the media is a powerhouse in society. • 11. Why I Was The Only Person Who Was Ready My thirteen year old mind could not handle waiting idly in an uncomfortable, wooden chair. By that time, my powdered makeup had turned into beads of liquid. Can we please leave, I yelled we re going to be late! In response to no response, I stood up from my chair and marched into my cousin s room. I was startled as I walked in on one of the most frantic scenes I had ever witnessed. There were clothes sprawled on the floor, makeup powder on the dresser and jewelry on the bed. My cousins and aunts were running around the room; some were getting ready, some were arguing and some were talking on the phone. The mixture of heat and expensive perfume was asphyxiating. We re going to miss the trip tia ! I failed to understand why I was the only person who was ready. We had all been aware of our reservations for the party boat in Old San Juanfor almost a week. We re almost ready Val, go start the car. Her response was almost humorous because I knew she was nowhere near being ready. On her head, rested her shower cap and in the closet, hung her dress. Respectfully, I continued to follow her orders and accept our inevitable lateness. I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on February,4th, 1999. Since that day, I have come to the conclusion that no one on the island is familiar with the concept of time. Puerto Ricans often jokingly regard reoccurring tardiness as a common quality. This particular lawyer happens to be life long friends with my uncle so setting up the interview was rather easy. I also set up a ride along with the West side of Dayton s policeforce but I would not be able to write the paper in time. However, I will be able to compare and contrast the different sides of the law and will enjoy the opportunity to be able to see what I am getting into in the future. After making it to Rose Dobyns, I told the receptionist that I was there to see Blaise Underwood and she told me to take a seat. I took a seat and observed the office, noticing that there was a copy of the constitution on the wall, as well as fake plants, a toy set for kids and some nice comfortable seats. I was soon greeted by a tall, bearded man who was not wearing a suit and tie as expected. I shook his hand, entered his office and began the interview quickly. He told me that he originally wanted to be in the FBI or DEA when he graduated from the University of Cincinnati. In his opinion, you can only get to that level of Law enforcement by having a law degree or many years of police work under your belt. He clearly did not have years of police work, so he decided to major in criminal justice then pursue a J.D. at the University of Dayton. • 13. Imagery And Second Person Imagery People have various reasons and emotions that prompt them to carry out an event in a certain way. First Person Imagery and Third Person Imagery are the two ways that determine how a person will act. The idea of the use of various imagery perspectives can affect memory and emotions can cause a person to react. Third person imagery tends to understand behavior as a function of the actor s disposition, whereas actors tend to understand their behavior as a function of the situation (Libby et al., 2007). This imagery perspective allows a person to understand the purpose, reasoning, and the effects of making a decision. For example, a person is using third person imagery when making an important decision, such as voting or picking a career. Social judgement and character are the factors that help people decide whether their decision will be one way or another. First person imagery perspective allows people to carry out an action or event without much influence on emotions and social judgement. This perspective offers the chance for people to analyze and use their emotions can occur when making a decision (Holmes et al., 2008). It is followed by fellow believers and is recognized in all cultures and almost all major religions. R.M. All cultures have morals and ethics, but what looks unethical to us could possibly be a way of life for that particular culture. The Government Should Not Control What Children Eat Essay Childhood obesity is an epidemic in the United States, nearly twenty percent of children between the ages of 6 and 11 are clinically obese; however the government has no place trying to control this. (CDC, 2008) The current administration over steps its authority moving beyond the control of federally funded school lunches and into oversight of privately owned vending machines in public schools. Major corporations are being bullied into censoring their advertisement exposure to younger children so that the government won t impose their own regulations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Snack machines are big business in the public school system. They are privately owned and serviced, in order to be placed in schools the vending companies enter into contracts where a portion of profits are provided back to the school. These profits often play a big role in an already tight school budget; they pay for necessities such as copies of student handouts and other teaching aids. Where the problem begins is that the Let s Move program authorizes the United States Department of Agriculture to set standards for all foods regularly sold in schools including vending machines and al la cart lunch lines. Neither of the affected receives funding from the program, making this a controversial issue of the federal government setting controls on state funded schools. The federal government needs to stay out of state run programs, especially when it can affect funding which directly relates to our children s education. Aside from federal restrictions on food in public schools some states have allowed their administration to create and enforce rules that are not their place to be making. I was shocked to learn that the majority of the history of the Trojan Warinvolves the Gods. In my opinion, it seems very unbelievable. When I read the Iliad and watched the movie, the movie sounds more believable then the Iliad. This is a common occurrence for student pedestrians on their way to class given the increasing number of bicyclists and skateboarders that refrain from following university transportation laws, however, instead of criminalizing the act of using these modes of transportation on pedestrian sidewalks the university should make it safer and more efficient for these individuals to share the roads with cars by installing bicycle lanes. This issue is important to all campus residents, since the incorrect use of transportation could jeopardize their safety and should be carefully considered in order to prevent accidents. This proposal argument will aim at persuading university officials, specifically those in charge of the university transportation services, to reconsider their handling of bicycle and other non motorized transportation rules and safety on campus. There are many rules that bicyclists and other alternative transportation users must follow, for example, bicycles [are] not [to] be ridden on sidewalks or any pedestrian paths in the limited bike zone [central campus] , yet not ... • 38. Left Neglected By Lisa Genova Left Neglected by Lisa Genova is a novel based on a woman who gets into a car accident, suffers from a stroke, and ends up developing left neglect. Left neglect, otherwise known as Hemispatial neglect, develops after a stroke or brain damage to the right side of the brain. Left neglect is a neuropsychological condition that causes an attention deficit to the awareness of the left side of space. A person with left neglect has difficulty processing and perceiving stimuli on the left side of their body. It can affect a person s visual perception where they are unable to see things or interpret them on the left side of them. Typically a person with left neglect forgets that their left side exists. Someone who suffers from left neglect may not be able to dress themselves on their left side; they may not eat the food on the left side of their plate, or be able to read a left side of a book. It can cause issues with their mobility where they are unaware of their left extremities, which can lead to problems in walking or any task using bilateral coordination or skills. Sarah, the main character in the novel, had a very busy, fulfilling life before her accident. She worked as a human resources consultant at a very large company. This job required her to work very long, busy hours. Her career could be considered a spillover, where her job affects and interrupts parts of her social and family life also. Identities can both be chosen and given, and are sources of disconnection and connection. Identities are not solely applied to people, but to places too. A places identity can both positively and negatively affect peoples identities. My essay will examine the argument that places can be a source of inclusion and exclusion for specific communities, how identities are constructed and linked to other places and identities are marked and unmarked through othering and also how a persons identity can be impacted upon by place identity and how both imagined and idealised past of a place can impact on people feeling out of place, or even part of, and how a place s identity can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people then who live on the street are seen negatively due to their different way of living, rather than ourselves living in our houses and apartments. The cities and the streets are often perceived negatively, such as dangerous, crowded, dreary and busy for example. This then has repercussions on how street people are viewed, as the identity of their place of living affects their own identity. Places like people are attributed identity. Places can be diverse, noisy, relaxing and welcoming. Some of these identities are imagined, some are real. People give these identities to places through their own identity, in return for this, peoples identities are connected to where they live. Where we live will impact on how we are seen, it is through a process called discourse that our identities are positioned, dependant on where we live, this could be in the cities or the countryside. The countryside had often had an imagined or idealised past, which can make some feel excluded or included. Some social scientists such as Engels and Toqueville considered that it is the urbanisation that created inequalities, because it was felt unevenly by the population. As a result of this country life became portrayed as an idyll and authentic in comparison to the imbalanced life in the cities. Concept of social responsibility According to Cohen (2009), the concept of social responsibility entail that every organization must assume the full responsibility for its impact on employees, the environment, customers, and whomever and whatever it touches (p. 31). On the other hand, Murphy (2009) explains that social responsibility pertains to an entity s ability to respond to a person, situation or issue in a certain way (p. 245). Comparatively, Carroll Buchholtz (2003) revealed that the concept of social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities in addition to their responsibilities to earn fair return for investors and comply with the law (p. 36). This means that the society will look for major organizations where profits and nonprofit could be derived to take care of some of the ills in the society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How did deregulation of financial markets and the large flow of capital between countries contributed to vulnerability of the contemporary global financial system. Deregulation is defined as the removal of rules and restrictions, when this occurred within the financial markets it allows financial institutes more freedom, it encouraged new ways of lending and made funds more accessible to lenders. Deregulation has been ongoing in financial markets for more than 30 year, this has allowed financial institutions to self regulate and ultimately police themselves. Former Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan supported by successive administrations and congress were actively pushed by powerful financial industry at every turn to strip away safeguards that would have avoided vulnerabilities in the contemporary global financial systems. U.S. government allowed financial firms to pick their preferred regulators. From 1999 to 2008, the US financial sector expended $2.7 billion in reported federal lobbying expenses; individuals and political action committees in the sector made more than $1 billion in campaign contributions. What is most troubling is the extent to which the nation was deprived of the necessary strength and independence of the oversight necessary to safeguard financial stability . Socrates disputes that fortuna comes from virtue and presents a cause and effect relationship, contrary to the interconnected relationship as presented by Machiavelli. A prince should use philosophical thinking to question and explore many ideas in order to amass success. Just having money and luck, on the other hand, will not lead to more success because the prince is unable to think about how he can execute his rulings. Through his views, he connotes how the ruler cannot start his reign with both fortuna and virtue. This contradicts with Machiavelli s prince because Socrates disputes the lack of emphasis on fortune. However, it is plausible to argue that fortuna does not lead to success as seen in Socrates legacy. (Dale, 2000; 11) What this criticism betrays, however, is a very particular hypocrisy. It is symptomatic of a colonial mentality existing between East and West, the West in its criticism of Eastern remembrance seeking to define its identity by dictating how it could remember its past.
