Summary Of Cassady Black s Mapping Hana
A daughter s relationship to her father is crucial for their overall development as a human being.
Having a present father in one s life provides structure, and gives a woman insight on how she
allows to be treated in romantic relationships. If a woman is loved by her father and sees him treat
her mother right, then she will be more inclined to seek a man with similar qualities. However,
when the father daughter relationship is unpleasant, it can take an equally negative affect on future
relationships. Sometimes we also see that a woman can likely develop impulsive/childlike thoughts
without that guidance from a father figure. This is especially true in Mapping Hana by Cassady
Black, as the ghost of Hana s father haunted her and how she navigated her relationships. In addition
to her father s haunting , Hana was also haunted by her mental illness. The combination of an
unhealthy relationship with her father and mental illness explains the events that occurred with her
husband. From the first time that Hana and Michael met, her father played a large role in how she
felt about him. In her mind she found a man that reminded her... Show more content on

Her life with Michael was centered around the fact he resembled her father, and was an
impulsive decision she was temporarily satisfied with while riding a high . She further
explained about her impulsive episodes, Sometimes I do crazy and impulsive things, like last
night, but I always come back sooner or later and I never actually harm anyone (Black 6). It is as
though her relationship with Michael was one of those impulsive episodes that she only snapped
out of ten years later. Hana also managed to contradict herself with that quote because while she
is unaware that she hurts those around her, it still manages to happen. It could also be that like a

Preterm Birth Consequences
The Consequences of Preterm Birth
Preterm birth is defined as the birth of a baby before 37 weeks gestation age. The stages of
preterm can be subdivided into different stages. Very Preterm is 20 32 weeks, Moderately
Preterm is 33 36 weeks, Early Term is 37 38 weeks gestation stage. According to the statistics
gathered by the World Health Organisation (WHO) (2015) in 2012, there are more than 1 in 10
babies born preterm every year with an estimated 15 million born preterm every year. There are a
wide variety of factors that cause preterm birth, examples including: a multiple pregnancy,
substance abuse and smoking, assisted reproduction and a low socio economic status. Studies have
also shown that certain ethnicities are at a higher risk of delivering preterm than others. According
to an external study included Nosarti et al (2010) in the USA, 19% of black non Hispanic

Breathing with underdeveloped lungs manifests itself in preterm infants and Respiratory Distress
Syndrome (RDS), RDS is primarily caused by Pulmonary Surfactant deficiency which means the
lungs cannot expand and contract normal. If left untreated, preterm infants may become fatigued,
apnoeic and hypoxic (a condition in which the body, or a particular region within the body, is
deprived of oxygen). Apnoea of Prematurity (AOP) is a common condition in premature infants
which according to Kids Health (2015) is when an infant during sleep temporarily stops breathing
for 15 20 seconds. This condition is most common in infants born before 35 weeks gestation age
and infants with AOP will also have drops in heart rates (bradycardia) causing them to appear
pale or bluish and their bodies to be limp. The likelihood of a premature infant having AOP is
increased as their birth weight decreases, AOP may begin 2 days after birth however in most cases
it clears up after 2 3

Secularisation Of Religion In Australia Essay
The process of secularization arises not from the loss of faith but from the loss of social interest in
the world of faith. It begins the moment men feel that religion is irrelevant to the common way of
life and that society as such has nothing to do with the truths of faith. (Dawson Russello, 1998)
Contemporary society has exposed Australians of all ages to secularism making it vital that citizens
adapt and strengthen a personal and global conscience to keep fundamental religious values, morals
and ethics relevant. Humanity will prosper once there is a realization of the importance of a
spiritual future. This concept can truly be understood once society has a deep understanding for the
secular dispute between church versus state, the powerful depiction the media has of religionas well
as the correlation between secularism and immigration rates.
Within a secular society there are still cultural and social traditions that are established from
traditional religious beliefs and rituals. Most countries implement a dominate religion to which they
establish feudal legislation based on the rules and regulations of the chosen belief system. Australia
is secular according to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Media outlets in secular Australia tend to focus specifically on the negative incidents that occur
within different religions, swaying society s opinion on commitment to a belief system. Two
heavily publicised events that are still being covered by the media are firstly, the link of terrorism
to the Islamic faith and secondly, sex offenders associated with the Catholic Australian church. The
definition of the Islam belief system is the religious faith of Muslims including belief in Allah as the
sole deity and in Muhammad as his prophet (Webster, 2006). Currently there is an international and

Reflection Paper On Grandmother
My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was
spent with her, and we grew older together. Since we spent so much time with one another, it was
inevitable for me to always get stuck hearing her stories about the good ol days and the stories that
always started with back in my time . Just as any teenager would do, I tuned these stories out and
replied with a laugh at the end. Looking back now, I wish that I had paid more attention to those
stories that defined my grandmother and made her who she is today. Fortunately, I have been given
the opportunityto go back in time with her and let her reminisce and share those stories once again
while I listen full heartedly. To begin the discussion, I asked her to share her childhood with me
and how it was like growing up in her time. She told me memories she had with her family, her
favorite hobbies, and how different the school system was back then. After we explored every
aspect of her life in the past, we delved into the present to discuss how the agingprocess has had an
impact on her. My grandmother s attitude towards anything is very optimistic, so I would only
expect it to be the same for this process. She states that she sees growing older as her opportunity
to do as much as she can and whatever she wants. By keeping this positive outlook on life, it
allows her to stay mentally and physically younger. At the age of 65, she experienced a ruptured
brain aneurysm, and I presume her outlook on life changed dramatically because of this. She
was given a second chance at life, and she could not be more thankful for that. Given this
opportunity, she does not take anything for granted and is just lucky to be living. This is what
keeps her going. Attitude is everything, she says smiling. On the other hand, she has seen the
other side of the aging process. Her husband is quite a bit older than she is, and his health has
been declining rapidly. By seeing his aging process not be successful and as optimal as hers, she
does have a slightly negative attitude regarding it at times. After suffering a major heart attack, his
cognition and physical abilities have declined, and his attitude is very negative. Due to this, her

Effect of Gold Rush on the Social, Political and Cultural...
What effect if any, did the gold rush have on the social, political and cultural development of
Australia as a nation?
The gold rush of the 1850 s had a major and lasting impact on Australia and changed it forever.
Before gold was discovered Australia was a lawless prison colony. Less than fifty years after gold
was discovered, Australia had been transformed into an independent country. The gold rush helped
increase the population, which helped bring social, cultural development and democratic
government.
The discovery of gold in 1851, by Edward Hargraves brought about major economic, social and
political changes to the nation of Australia. Gold attracted people from all over the world to come
to Australia, to strike it rich. People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many men, who worked on the farms, quit in search of gold. Woman became very important, in
many cases, the woman and children were left to work on the land, with the help of Aboriginal
stockman. A person could become very rich overnight. The upper class were not only the ones
who had money now. People who worked hard would be rewarded. The boost to the economy
helped pay for the modernisation of the whole of Australia. Roads, schools, and churches were
built. Train lines were built to link major cities. The discovery of gold had also stopped convict
transportation. The diggers came from all different backgrounds, but they worked together and
considered themselves equal. They were free from social class. Today, Australia is very much free
of class.
The gold rush had a lasting impact on the political development of Australia. The uprising of the
Eureka stockade formed the basis for democracy that we have in Australia today. The Eureka
Rebellion was an important step towards democracy. It was an uprising against authority. The
conditions on the goldfields were difficult. The monthly licensing fees that the diggers had to
pay were quite harsh and unfair. A digger had to pay it even if he didn t find any gold. The way
the police collected the fee was also harsh. These people were ready to fight for change. The
miners wanted better rights. They protested and pressured the government for better conditions, in
hope to abolish the fees. The gold rush gave the diggers a

Quebec National Cinema
Quebec Cinema as National Cinema
Quebec has had a long association with the idea of independence from the rest of Canada. The
province has had two referendums to vote on whether it should separate from Canada or not.
However, this want for independence is not just shown in the political sphere, but as well in its
culture, and especially its film industry. Because of this independence, the Quebec film industry
should be viewed as a separate entity from Canadian film, and not as a regional cinema of Canada.
Quebec cinema is a national cinema because of the protection of the French Canadian language and
culture, along with its refusal of the outside, and its specific use of the direct cinema. These traits
can be seen in the canonical films Mon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Films of this period began to reflect a change in the values and attitudes of the French Canadian
people as political separatism started to become a real possibility for Quebec. Michel Houle even
argues that the Quiet Revolution was started in part due to the freedom of speech that came from
the films of the early 1960s; they instigated a sort of identity crisis in the people of Quebec (168).
With this, film production was also subject to the growing auteur principle, which stressed artistic
control, expressive freedom, and personal style in direction, independent of established industry
practices , (Reines 24 25). This meant that many film directors started to take on their own styles
and thusly formed a set of characteristics that became standard of Quebec films: further rejection of
outside film industries practices, and the shift towards the le direct style of filmmaking (Gittings

Computers in the 1950 s
Computers in the 1950 s
People have been in awe of computers since they were first invented. At first scientist said that
computers would only be for government usage only. Then when the scientists saw the potential
computers had, scientist then predicted that by 1990 computers may one day invade the home of
just about ever citizen in the world ( History Internet), the scientists were slightly wrong, because
by 1990 computers were just beginning to catch on. Then a few years later when scientists when
to major corporations to get help with a special project, the corporations said no, because
computers would just be a fad and they wouldn t make much money off of it. By definition Abacus

enabled them to continue using computers at the same constant speed rather than loose the speed

Internet). By letting this happen programmers were giving major lee way in their programs and
letting people be capable of entering commands stopping the program go eat lunch and then start it
right back up again, this lead the way for many operating systems.
C programming was in the experimental stages just about nonexsistant in the 1950 s. While it was
not in practical use, it was in fundamental use, because of its need scientists and programmers
sought to create it so as they could make programming easier to do ( Hackers Internet).
One of the most important uses a computer can have is for air navigation, be it airplanes. Some
of the other uses consisted of, weather studies, trajectories, night time maneuvers, navigation of
ships and planes, radar, and sonar ( History Internet). They were used in mission control tower so
as the planes knew where to land, they told the exact path that would be nessicary to take for a
safe and fast flight. They told how many planes were in the air so as there would not be any

Sarcophagus With Battle Scene

I visited Downtown Dallas and let me tell you.. It was amazing!! I was born in Colombia but
was raised in Charlotte, NC so it was really nice to feel like I was home. I went to Dallas Art
Museum in downtown Dallas. The museum was humongous!! I think it was about 5 6 stories
high or maybe more! When I walked in with my friend this nice lady approached us and gave us a
tour around and gave us some lessons of the art we were interested in. She took us to the Egyptian
art which I thoughtwas pretty awesome but also scary because one art piece was a coffin so I am

In the sculpture you could see horses being stabbed and laying desperately dead on the floor.
You could see men crying out for help and the bodies of men on the ground. Also, you can see
men fighting for their lives in that bloody war scene. In the art piece you can see the amount of
detail in every piece including the horses, the armour, and the captives. Each piece has emotion,
you can feel the pain, anger and the helplessness on each piece. I say in which this was done
during the Roman period it had to be about war. I thought since it was traditionally Roman it had
to depict a great battle with the Romans and their foe. The romans are heavily aromoured and
riding on horses while the people they are fighting are either naked or wearing a simple toga. The
nice lady that guided me stated that this was most likely created to portray the wars Rome fought
with the Germanic tribesmen along the Danube frontier in what now are Romania and Hungary.
The Sarcophagus in this painting is showing off the great triumphs of a general as a war hero
throughout his life. During that time, Death was not mourned, it was celebrated by their life and
the accomplishments that they have been able to do throughout their life. That s what the painting
shows, the battle scene depicted here was created because the man probably with to identify his
life and career with well known Greek scenes of military. Although, the art piece represented war in

Overview: The goal of this project is to enable the building of smart, resilient, and sustainable
energy infrastructure, by advancing fundamental knowledge in the science of aerodynamics and
control theory. The main objective is to test the following hypotheses: (i) semi active control of
structures can be carried out analytically, (ii) a proposed innovative control theory is applicable to
flexible structures subjected to multi hazard loads, and (iii) the proposed control approach is
applicable to wind turbines in the field. A probabilistic approach to the semi active control of multi

Main Tasks: To accomplish the objective of the project, field experiments, as the best references
for future development, are required in conjugation with analytical and numerical investigations. In
Figure 1 a general perspective of the research is illustrated. The whole project will be executed in
three main tasks which are described as follows:
Task 1. Data Collection and Analysis: The first task to accomplish the goals of the project is to
collect high quality data that consist of the wind velocity field and profile, wind turbine s dynamic
responses and the power production. Due to the wind velocity fluctuation or high intensity
turbulence which is an important characteristic of the wind in atmospheric boundary layer, the
rotor and the tower of a wind turbine normally experience extensive fluctuating dynamic loads.
Because of the randomness nature of these fluctuations, limitations in numerical simulations and
scale related issues in laboratory tests, field wind data collection is super beneficial for scientific
evolution of wind turbines. During the last years, a high quality remote system is introduced and
implemented by wind energy developers to capture the wind data in front of the wind

Argumentative Essay On The Causes Of Autism
There have been many institutes questioned, such as the Institute of Medicine, the Centers for
Disease Control, and the Food and Drug Administration. These agencies have found no linkage
between vaccines and autism. These agencies have conducted thousands of studies and have found
no proof that autism can be blamed on a child s immunizations. Opponents of these studies would
like parents of autistic children to believe that the results have been influenced. Some groups would
like the rest of us to believe that the government and the drug companies are influencing the
outcome of the reports. The Measles Mumps and Rubella vaccinereceives the most study, this is

Essay The Making of Apollo 13
The Making of Apollo 13
When making Apollo 13, Ron Howard s intention was to make his film as exciting as possible. He
wanted to make a chemistry on set that would show throughout the film. Ron wanted Apollo 13 to
be realistic, as well as exciting and enjoyable.
Within the characters, Ron wanted to capture their real personalities. This was done by the actors
(Tom Hanks and Kathleen Quinlan) meeting the real life Jim and Marilyn Lovell. They each spent
a day in their home to help capture the right characteristics and get a real idea how they felt.
To make the film realistic and scientifically correct, actors and the film crew went to NASA in

this to help portray Fred s feelings and character.
The layout of mission control in the film is very similar to the real layout of mission control in
Houston.
Ron and the actors also met the real crew and used the astronaut s descriptions to help make the
scenes more realistic. They spoke to the astronauts and spent time with them so they could learn,
use and understand the terminology they had to use.
Ron made the film accurate by researching facts, using real events and phrases, talking to NASA
and astronauts.
In addition to being an entertaining film, it will go into records as being a source of accurate data
in the future Dave Scott (astronaut).
The whole film is not completely accurate. Ron wanted to make the film dramatic and enjoyable,
so he created the relationship between Jack and Fred. In real life, Jack and Fred were good friends;
they had no problems with each other. Ron created the tension between them to add some drama to
the storyline.

How Did Puck Grow In A Midsummer s Night Dream
Leaders have a responsibility to manage their power carefully. This idea can be seen in A

Ancient India Vs. Ancient China Essay
Ancient India vs. Ancient China Early Indian and Chinese civilizations were very advanced for
their times. For example some areas of the Indus Valley had sewer systems while the Chinese
mastered the art of spinning Silk. The first modern humans in China date back 50,000 years. Their
populations today outnumber any country to date, which can be linked to their rich heritage dating
back thousands of years. The early people of the Indus Valley were seen as the first civilizationof

Judging by the varying qualities of the homes discovered, they had a class system of some sort.
They also had an economy consisting of agriculture and domestic animals. And, as mentioned
before, they even had sewer systems in the more populated areas. Once the Indo Aryans came, the
culture of the Indus Valley people became intertwined in the new ideas of these new people.
The Indo Aryans brought with them an economy dependent on cattle. Other animals like sheep,
goats, and horses were also valued. Grains such as barley were grown as well. They also had
musical instruments, including flutes, drums and cymbals. Their government consisted of a Raja,

firing at castle walls during the medieval times, or standing in the background of a large army

twists and binds with our own, dating all the way back to 399 B.C. First documented by the Greek
historian, Diodorus Siculus, in the form of an early design for the Ballista (type of catapult).

The physics concepts associated with them are projectile motion, energy, momentum, forces ,
speeds, and distances. The kinds of catapults all use the same theme of accumulated tension, but
acquire that tension in their own way, their own design. The Mangonel catapult for instance, is
what most of us think of as the traditional catapult. A large wooden device with four wheels and a
spoon that launches fireballs. The Mangonel stores energy much like a spring would, therefore, we
use the equation PEspring = 1/2kx^2. The tension in the ropes and arms of the catapult when
pulling on its long arm stores potential energy which is transformed into kinetic energy when fired

on how much force the catapult applied to the projectile, and the momentum depended on the mass

Disney World
Throughout the world there are so many beautiful and wonderful places to go and spend time to
explore and to relax. From going to a beach, skiing in the mountains, to luxury resorts, all and
many more would make for a great vacation. Every person may think differently and has different
expectations than others of what the best vacation destination would be. However, there is one
destination that so many has thought very highly of. This vacation spot for many is Disney
World. Disney World has been known for many years now to be a wonderful place to go young
or old to have an exciting time. Capturing so many of the scenes and characters from recent and
old Disney movies as well as adding in the thrilling rides and glamorous restaurants in castles,
Disney World has truly brought many unforgettable memories to life. Because of the unbelievable
moments there is a reason it is called one of the happiest places on earth.
In 1964, Walt Disneybegan to secretly buy millions of dollar s worth of central Florida (History).
Also known as D Day for Orlando, Walt announced that he planned to build a spectacular theme
park. Micky Mouse was one of the characters that got to escort some of the first visitors into the
magic Kingdom. Numerous people including celebrities took part in the celebrations (History).
Disney World has the incredible ability to turn every vacation into a once in a life time
experience (Don). The attention in detail that Walt put into the park makes it seem almost
magical to many. An example of the details of Disney World would be their rides. Many parks
rides can feature a ton of steel, pipes, and fences (Albert). Disney makes their rides have a good
theme along the way and one can hardly see any sight of backstage stairs up the roller coaster or
fences around the ride (Albert). Everywhere someone would look not only on the rides there will
be pleasing to the eye, funny or fits in with the theme of the land (Albert).
Still, one can never forget the work it takes everyday to keep Disney World up and going. The

Grendel s mom was the first fight of revenge within the poem, and it served as a warning to
mankind, that everyone must not fight based purely on revenge, and it will not end in favor of the
city. It therefore, proves that that holding on to someone or something for long periods of time,
could eventually destroy oneself mentally or physically. It is interesting to that the revenge of
Grendel s mother almost was a example to take not, that revenge doesn t solve our problems, this
seems to be mentioned again at the end of the poem by Wiglaf.
Another example of revenge seen in the poem Beowulf is the Germanic tribe. With this example, it
is unique in the sense that the Germanic tribe was used in hopes of peace in Garland. Hrothgar was
hoping to make peace by having his daughter marry into the Hathobards. Although upon, Beowulf
return, he saw that this plan had its flaws and was unsure of the success of the plan.

Women Accused Of Witchcraft During The Salem Witch Trials
The women accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials were targeted due to their
physical appearance. Any mark that may be seen as unusual on a women could easily convict
her. The most common sight was often found through physical examinations of there convicted
women. It became known as the devil s mark . The devils mark is described as a tangible sign
left by the devil of his compact with the witch, partly to provide physical evidence that could be
used in court (Pavlac 72). Meaning, puritans believed the devil left their mark on these women not
only as a sign of solidarity, but also betrayal as it served as evidence for the courtroom. This
resulted in the women being accused of witchcraftto be physically examined for trial purposes. For
example, in an examination of 3 women accused, Bridget Bishop, Rebecca Nurse, and Elizibeth
Proctor, it was found by diligent search [the examiners] have discovered apreternathuerall
Excresense of flesh between the pudendum and Anus much like to Tetts not usual usuall in
woman ( Salem Witch Papers ). It was thought that this was the devil s mark, and it helped
sentence all three of these women to death for crimes of witchcraft ( Salem Witch Papers ).
Another common defect in women became to be known as the witch s mark or witches teat .
These were places where it was believed one could suck upon the body in attempt to draw out
blood. Compared to the Devil s mark, the Witch s mark was easier to find as it could serve as

3G and 4G wireless networks can be compared and contrasted by four areas of capabilities:

The reality is WiMax network availability is only available in select locations. The WiBro network
was created in South Korea to allow people to the internet from anywhere in the country. WiBro
network has a download speed of 40.32Mbps and WiBro was designed to maintain a connection
up to speed of 74 MPH. (WiBro, 2013) This allows users the ability to enjoy broadband Internet

advancement of the LTE network being available at lower cost because of the multiple service

The Sauron of Santo Domingo
The many references by Junot Diaz to J.R.R. Tolkien s universe in The Brief Wondrous Life of
Oscar Wao prove to be more than just an allusion to the fantastical works. The recurring
comparisons of the Trujillato to the power of Sauron are more than just metaphors. They are
descriptions. Diaz uses his references to describe people and situations, in real life, that have no
other way of being described. The first direct quote of Oscar de Leon is, What more sci fi than
Santo Domingo? What more fantasy than the Antilles? (6). Diaz gives direct meaning to this
statement through Yunior s knowledge and love of the speculative genre, which he picked up from
Oscar, and parallels the world we live in with the fantastical world of Middle Earth,... Show more

Although Shelob lives in Sauron s domain, he does not have any direct control over her. Also,
just as Shelob never hesitates to prey on both man and orc, so too La Fea cheated everyone she
did business with, including her brother (139). Diaz uses the allusion to explain even what the
sister of Trujillo thinks, knowing that Shelob does not like to kill her prey right away, instead
stinging them and leaving them paralyzed before she actually kills them. This method is used
against Beli as well; when La Fea orders her orcs to capture Beli, she is beaten to the brink of
death, but not killed. The perfection and detail of Diaz s allusion goes much deeper than a simple
metaphor, and actually defines who this character is.
When Tolkien originally wrote The Lord of the Rings, he did so as reference to World War II, which
was ongoing at the time. For him, Sauron was a representation of Hitler; the gaze of His Eye,
the spread of industrialization and destruction from the war. For Diaz, Sauron is Trujillo, the gaze
of His Eye, the domination he exerted, as well as the anonymity of his secret police. It was one
thing for Diaz to make the comparison of Trujillo to Sauron, but he now affirms his argument by
adding figurative subtext to it. Diaz writes that Trujillo s beloved Morgul Lords [were the

mechanisms is a constant manifestation of his desire to feel nothing opposed to feeling doubt and

acts on them trying to deal with his crisis, resorting to a constant seek of numbness, which can be

Rhetorical Devices In Advertising
Advertisements are everywhere and are prominent throughout our daily lives, and they affect our
thinking in several ways without us even knowing. Advertisements and the act of advertising,
whether it be a cleaning product, a dog leash, a new invention, a service, etc., employ rhetorical
devices and strategies in order to effectively win over the customer, making them interested in their
product. The strategies that advertisements use are pretty shady and sneaky, and, although may
seem illegal, are actually perfectly fine it s up to the consumer to ensure that the product they are
purchasing is what they are looking for, and advertisers and the manufacturers know this. The
rhetorical devices advertisements use are pretty similar and work in similar ways, the most effect
they take is deception. In With... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lutz explains that help is the number one and most common weasel word (208). This word works
in a simple way; an advertisement says that a product will help with something, which may
convince the customer to buy it, but, again, if the customer has issues with it and attempts to press
charges or get their money back, the company will not be liable, as the word help excuses their
product from not working for them, as the word basically says that it may or may not work. These
types of words and the acts of exercising them within advertisements give rhetoric a bad name
especially ethos, which represents credibility. These advertisements exercise something that is
called false ethos as they establish credibility for the product, but in the instance of that product that
isn t working the way the customer thought, the product and the advertiser/manufacturer are not

FALSE CONFESSIONS
Crimes are committed every second of the minute, but out of the many that are, how many have a
conviction? How many of these crimes is the correct person held responsible and brought to
justice? According to the Innocence Project, 25% of wrongful convictions overturned by DNA
evidence involve a false confession and many of those false confessions contained details that match
the crime details that were not made to the public (False Confessions). None too many times is
there an individual that may has been arrested and interrogated regarding a crime that he/she may

of Zuni, and the Navajo Nation also manage the area because of their historical ties to the land
(Mens Journal). The Grand Staircase Escalante monument is important because many historical
discoveries have been made there. It is one of the most important areas for paleontology because of
the many fossils that have been found in the area, which includes the Tropic Shale, a 94 million
year old protected object (Washington Post). Both of these monuments were established by
previous presidents under the 1906 Antiquities Act.
The issue that is occurring in these monuments is that President Trump wants to reduce the size of
both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante and make them available for companies to use in
order to extract resources, such as oil and coal. Native American tribes have many cultural sites that

College Admission Essay
I ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being
saved only by the ingenuity of a Nurse Day for whom my middle name is dedicated to. Above
all else, I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of
Pennsylvania is one of, if not the, best ways to do that. Its bioengineering department is
consistently ranked to be the most rigorous in the field, and I can handle rigor. Given that the vast
majority of bioengineering undergraduates at UPenn take part in independent research and that
many go on to publish their findings, the tools to excel at UPenn are readily available, and I plan
to excel. I find this, more than anything else, to be why I find UPenn to be so appealing. The
ability for and even the encouragement of undergraduate students to follow their own path, to
design their own trials, and to even publish their results is very captivating to me.... Show more

I consider my extracurriculars to be just as integral to my intellectual identity as my academic
courses. Debate skills, to me, are beneficial, even necessary, in almost every facet of life, and I
can t imagine not joining the debate team at my high school or not continuing my involvement
in college. I never considered myself to be a particularly outspoken person, so It came as a
surprise to me when I saw myself joining my high school s Speech Debate team in a sleep
deprived haze. I m sure that a small part of my brain was aiming for self improvement, but the
majority just needed some more sleep. Almost immediately, I was thrust into a world of moral
frameworks, weighing mechanisms, and judging paradigms. I was overwhelmed and confused,
but I loved every moment of it. The University of Pennsylvania s Speech and Debate Team has a
history of success, doing extremely well in national circuits. I want to continue growing as a
debater and a person, and it s hard to imagine a better place than at

Divorce and its effects on family
Divorce and its effects on family
Kirsten Jackson
University of Maryland Eastern Shore
Divorce is defined as the formal dissolution of marriage (Collins, 1978, p. 1). Nearly half of
marriages end in divorce. There could be various reasons as to why a relationship diminishes.
These reasons could include premarital cohabitation or in other words living together before
marriage, marrying at a young age, and finally the presence of children. All three of these reasons
are said to be the most significant of circumstances that lead to the end of relationships. To better
understand the reasons of divorce, the text discusses 5 different types of marriages. Conflict
habituated marriages, devitalized marriages, passive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However these thoughts stray from the beliefs and values the generations before us had.
Marriage was meant to last forever, a marriage ending within 72 days would be looked upon as a
taboo subject, and the wife would be ridiculed by her community and would most likely not be
looked upon for remarriage.
In past generations marrying at a young age is what was expected. The younger the age the easier
it was to start a family, however in the 20th century marrying at the age of 18 or younger can be
a huge factor to why couple s divorce. The reasons to this could be the maturity of the young
couple. Marriage is a very serious thing, a person no longer lives only for themselves, they have
another person to think about and take care of. The text states Teenagers may lack the maturity
to handle the responsibilities of marriage. Their youth and relative inexperience in relationships
also may lead them to make less sensible choice in marital partners. (Baca Zinn, et al, 2011, p.
378) When discussing this generation especially marrying at a young age can be extremely
detrimental to the longevity of a marriage. For example, in earlier generations the women
married at the young age of 15, this was due to their ability to bear children at this age, although
they were young, the women were still raised to prepare for this time in their lives. In modern
society this is not the case, at the age of 15 young women are still looked at as children than adults,

Are Organized Activities Or Creative Play More Important...
Are organized activities or creative play more important to a child s development? Some people
would argue that creative play is a very important thing to include in a child s day. Others say that
creative play is not critical to a child s development but organized activities are. Many people
believe that creative playis no longer as essential as it was once believed to be and that organized
activities actaully provide more benefits. They say that since being involved in an organized
activity requires commitment, teamwork, and hard work it can help children become responsible
adults. They also beleive that organized activities help parents become more involved in their
children s lives. I believe that creative play

The Formation Of Acc And Its Conversion Into Ethylene
The evolution of ACC also brings about the production of 5Вў methylthioadenosine nine. Increase
in the rate of respiration of the fruit gives ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) need for the methionine
cycle and can lead to induced ethylene production without high levels of intracellular methionine.
SAM is a crucial methyl giver and relates to numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. Thus, the two
steps involved in the synthesis of ethyleneis the formation of ACC and its conversion into ethylene.
The genes encoding ACS and ACO have therefore been studied more deeply than other enzymes in
the pathway, although there is proof that a few other genes concerned with methionine synthesis
and methionine salvage pathway are differentially demonstrated throughout ripeningand in response
to ethylene (Alba and others 2005; Zegzouti and others 1999). ACS and ACO are encoded by
multigene families in higher plants, with tomato having at most nine ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS1B,
and LEACS2 8) and п¬Ѓve ACO (LEACO1 5) genes (Barry and others 1996; Nakatsuka and
others 1998; Oetiker and others 1997; Van der Hoeven and others 2002; Zarembinski and
Theologis 1994). Expression survey has disclosed that at least four ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS2,
LEACS4, LEACS6) and three ACO (LEACO1, LEACO3, LEACO4) genes are differentially shown
in tomato fruit(Barry and others 1996, 2000; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Rottmann and others

Descriptive Essay On My Favorite Game
Generations and generations of this game I so dearly love, practicing day and night to better
myself and my ability. Watching hours and hours of games with my father, memories I will hold
very dear to myself. Watching his favorite game that dates back to 1988 when his team won it
all. Him describing his feeling of euphoria, celebrating with all his friends and family. Back to
me, playing with my brothers of blood and other on many different of these ball parks; fields in
the country feeling of Ontario, or the green desert of Banning, the beautiful city of Palm
Springs, the high desert of Yucca Valley and more. The most important is our home diamond,
Desert Hot Springs. Our baseball field, the place where boys go to forget about all their
problems. A simple ball with 108 red double stitches, the love of my life. I can hear as the ball
whizzes through the air, the seams tearing the wind for that perfect curve or the rising fastball.
The pinging sound the bat makes as you rip the ball for a base hit, truly a ravishing sound to
hear. A piece of land filled with hard clay dirt, mixed with rocks and sand and the yellowing grass
that is full of fire ants that shoot stinging pains throughout our players. Many potholes or the
uneven dirt levels home plate has; down the two crooked white painted foul lines, two towering
yellow poles with screens on each side. Many players are cycled throughout the years on the team,

Service Management
Service Management Introduction It is considered that the most critical thing for a company is to
effectively and efficiently deliver the service to the customers. It does really matter which
industry the organization is operating in, the features of services have be taken very seriously
and in addition to that, customers have to be satisfied in order for the organization to grow. It has
been argued by numerous scholars that the primary need of the customers in the modern business
world is to have a good experience, along with added value to be served to them. It is important to
note that regardless of the capabilities of a product, the organization is not likely to be successful in
accordance with its full potential if the offered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept of the service is considered to be the mutual understanding between the received
nature of the nature and the provided nature of the service by the organization. In addition to
that, it should also be able to summarize the information regarding the idea of the organization,
the experience of the service, the outcome of the service and the operation of the service as well
as the value of the service which is given below. When a customer goes out and generally
considers the things around while doing routine work, it is likely to be attracted by the
experience that it receives with the service provided by the organization. This is a motivating
factor for the customer and is likely to attract the customer if applied well. In addition to that, it
is an important thing to note that under the examples of a customer going for a walk in the park,
its experience of the service would include services which are fun and lively for all the age
groups, there is a variety of attractions, the queues for the major rides, entertaining and
exhilarating, easiness and the time taken to buy the required ticket. Apart from that, the operation
of the service would include a massive car parking area, good signage to the park, clear map
sites, various kinds of queuing procedures, a variety of outlets containing food as well as the more
the attractions and rides, the better the operations of the services. The experiences as well as the
operations of service

My Papa s Waltz Poem Analysis
Memory of an Abusive Father In discussions of My Papa s Waltz, one controversial issue has
been about a fond memory of his father . On the one hand, some readers argue The poem was
about abuse . On the other hand, many readers contend It was a somber poem that expresses a
son s love for his father, despite his father s alcoholism and abusive ways. Others even maintain
that the poem had everything to do with something positive and memorable. However, after
deconstructing the poem, it becomes increasingly clear that the poem is about kid who s dad is
an abusive alcoholic father and still seeks ways to admire him. While the subject of My Papa s
Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and
students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that
Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect on a memory portraying the abusive nature alcoholic
father. It is evident that imagery has a significant impact in My Papa s Waltz to portray the
meaning and purpose of the poem. In the first stanza it states The whiskey on your breath could
make a small boy dizzy. This line creates imagery by using sensory language because it uses smell
to intensify the description of the father, furthermore supporting the idea about the poem being
about an abusive alcoholic father. The author uses imagery in the second stanza, My mother s
countenance wasn t able to unfrown itself. This

How Did Frederick Douglass Benefit From His Education
Throughout the works of Frederick Douglass there is a prominent contradiction referring to
literacy. At times, Douglass regrets his education as it makes his slavery more difficult to tolerate.
Additionally, his education opens them up to more abuse as Harriet Jacob asserts they were living
in a culture of silence (Cutter 209). Thorough examination of Frederick Douglass writing reveals
various paradoxes within his testimony regarding his literary education; while Douglass did benefit
from his education in some way, in many other ways, it shattered his spirit and lead to a lifetime of
abuse.
Douglass narrative demonstrates how his literary education is both a blessing and a curse. He
believed that permitting slaves to read was a contradiction, a paradox if you will, unable to render
freedom, or provide them a legitimate education. Douglass reasoned that the education was a ploy
to let African Americans believe they were treated fairly. Douglass expresses, As I read and
contemplated the subject, behold! that very discontentment which Master Hugh had predicted
would follow my learning to read had already come, to torment and sting my soul to unutterable
anguish (Douglass 1200). Douglass displays the injustice and frustration of this situation; he is
fully aware that he is being treated unfairly.
For a short time, Douglass did consider his literacy a gift. This was the first opportunity that many
African Americans had to obtain an education. Having the ability to read

How Did The Treaty Of Versailles Treaty Affect Germany
On June 28, 1919, Germany and the Allies signed The Treaty of Versailles. The treaty established
strict punitive damages in Germany. However, Germany was greatly affected by three significant
cases.
The first case was the physical result of the Treaty. Germany suffered a major territorial loss, for
example, the provinces of Alsace and Lorraine were returned to France and it was not only their
territories but Germany itself. Therefore Germany lost over one million square miles of land.
The second case is about the economic impact of the Treaty. The Treaty of Versaillescriticized
Germany for begging the war. This makes Germany responsible for the cost of the war. Reparations
would be paid monthly and would total some ВЈ6,600 million. In addition,

Analysis Of The Film Leni Riefenstahl
Having directed and acted in many films, Leni Riefenstahl has become a major figure of the
Nazi film industry. Her most well known film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens, 1935)
is still considered the greatest propaganda film of all time. While Riefenstahl claims that the film
is a documentary and based on history . Susan Sontag s response is that the film it is seen as a
portrayal of a fascist society. A Nazi propaganda tool and not necessarily intended as a fascist
viewpoint. Sontag reasons that the film techniques, and the relationship between Leni Riefenstahl
and the Nazi leadership as well as the consistent illustration of fascist themes found in the film
establishes that Triumph of the Will is fascist and intended to promote and preserve the Nazi
ideology.
During the rise of power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party s in the 1930 s, Leni Riefenstahl
became a household name as a film director, her claim to fame was putting a public face to
Hitler. During this time period, it was very rare for the public to know what their leader looked
like, and with this film it allowed many of the Germans to finally get to see who they elected
into power. Hitler s goal was the complete eradication of the Jewish peoples, in addition he
wanted to spread his ideology and power across Europe. In order to achieve this goal, Hitler
needed the support of all of the German citizens. Which lead to Hitler commissioning, Leni
Riefenstahl to direct a film that would later be dubbed the

Media And Mass Media Deviance
Media is the most effective method of mass communication. There are many different sources of
mass media; broadcast, advertising, digital, hypermedia, interactive, multimedia, new media, news
media, print media, published media, recorded media and social media(Dictionary.com 2017).
Considering all the different forms media can take, it isn t all too shocking that media has had an
influence on deviant behaviors. The media s influence though, is attributed to promoting deviance
rather than reducing it. When individuals contemplate the term deviance, they often think of it as
behavior that is inherently bad. Contrary to that belief, deviance is described as a behavior that
departs from the social constructs of a society(Thio 2010). Deviance, criminal or not, is commonly
used amongst mass mediato entertain their viewers. The media relies on their audience s inherent
social constructs to make a profit. Without the meanings attached to these deviant behaviors, there
wouldn t be any motive behind showing them. All things considered, what the media covers and
how much they chose to cover has significantly changed over the years, the most apparent in crime
coverage. This consistent coverage of crime gives the audience an opportunity to interact with the
media. They can feel a part of the intensity of an investigation, cheer on the enforcers, become
immersed in their stereotypes. On the other hand, they can appreciate deviance for its resilience to
overcome and resist

Vehicle Pollution Essay
1.6Vehicular Pollution Problems in India
Vehicles are one of the major sources of air pollution in major cities. The air pollution due to
vehicles can be attributed to following:
a)High vehicle density in Indian urban centres result in air pollution build up near the roadways and
at traffic intersections.
b)Older vehicles are predominant in vehicle vintage. These older vehicles are grossly polluting
though in cities like Delhi grossly polluting vehicles have been phased out.
c)Inadequate inspection and maintenance facilities result in high emission of air pollutants from
vehicles. Emission can be reduced by proper and regular inspection and maintenance of vehicles.
d)There is large number of two stroke two wheelers in most of the cities and these two wheelers are
a significant contributor of air pollution.
e)Adulteration of fuel and fuel products also result in high emissions from vehicles.
f)Improper traffic management system and road conditions also result in build up of air pollutants
near the roadways as the emissions are higher when the vehicle is idling.
g)Absence of effective mass rapid transport system and intra city railway networks has resulted in
people using their own vehicles for commuting to workplace. This has resulted in uncontrolled
growth of vehicles.
h)High population exodus to the urban centres has also resulted in increase in number of vehicles
resulting in high levels of vehicular air pollution.

  • 2. Summary Of Cassady Black s Mapping Hana A daughter s relationship to her father is crucial for their overall development as a human being. Having a present father in one s life provides structure, and gives a woman insight on how she allows to be treated in romantic relationships. If a woman is loved by her father and sees him treat her mother right, then she will be more inclined to seek a man with similar qualities. However, when the father daughter relationship is unpleasant, it can take an equally negative affect on future relationships. Sometimes we also see that a woman can likely develop impulsive/childlike thoughts without that guidance from a father figure. This is especially true in Mapping Hana by Cassady Black, as the ghost of Hana s father haunted her and how she navigated her relationships. In addition to her father s haunting , Hana was also haunted by her mental illness. The combination of an unhealthy relationship with her father and mental illness explains the events that occurred with her husband. It is as though her relationship with Michael was one of those impulsive episodes that she only snapped out of ten years later. • 4. Secularisation Of Religion In Australia Essay The process of secularization arises not from the loss of faith but from the loss of social interest in the world of faith. It begins the moment men feel that religion is irrelevant to the common way of life and that society as such has nothing to do with the truths of faith. (Dawson Russello, 1998) Contemporary society has exposed Australians of all ages to secularism making it vital that citizens adapt and strengthen a personal and global conscience to keep fundamental religious values, morals and ethics relevant. Humanity will prosper once there is a realization of the importance of a spiritual future. This concept can truly be understood once society has a deep understanding for the secular dispute between church versus state, the powerful depiction the media has of religionas well as the correlation between secularism and immigration rates. Within a secular society there are still cultural and social traditions that are established from traditional religious beliefs and rituals. Most countries implement a dominate religion to which they establish feudal legislation based on the rules and regulations of the chosen belief system. Australia is secular according to the ... • 5. Reflection Paper On Grandmother My grandmother has been a very important person throughout my life. My entire childhood was spent with her, and we grew older together. Since we spent so much time with one another, it was inevitable for me to always get stuck hearing her stories about the good ol days and the stories that always started with back in my time . Just as any teenager would do, I tuned these stories out and replied with a laugh at the end. Looking back now, I wish that I had paid more attention to those stories that defined my grandmother and made her who she is today. Fortunately, I have been given the opportunityto go back in time with her and let her reminisce and share those stories once again while I listen full heartedly. To begin the discussion, I asked her to share her childhood with me and how it was like growing up in her time. She told me memories she had with her family, her favorite hobbies, and how different the school system was back then. After we explored every aspect of her life in the past, we delved into the present to discuss how the agingprocess has had an impact on her. My grandmother s attitude towards anything is very optimistic, so I would only expect it to be the same for this process. She states that she sees growing older as her opportunity to do as much as she can and whatever she wants. By keeping this positive outlook on life, it allows her to stay mentally and physically younger. At the age of 65, she experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm, and I presume her outlook on life changed dramatically because of this. She was given a second chance at life, and she could not be more thankful for that. Given this opportunity, she does not take anything for granted and is just lucky to be living. This is what keeps her going. Attitude is everything, she says smiling. On the other hand, she has seen the other side of the aging process. Her husband is quite a bit older than she is, and his health has been declining rapidly. By seeing his aging process not be successful and as optimal as hers, she does have a slightly negative attitude regarding it at times. After suffering a major heart attack, his cognition and physical abilities have declined, and his attitude is very negative. Due to this, her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Quebec National Cinema Quebec Cinema as National Cinema Quebec has had a long association with the idea of independence from the rest of Canada. The province has had two referendums to vote on whether it should separate from Canada or not. However, this want for independence is not just shown in the political sphere, but as well in its culture, and especially its film industry. Because of this independence, the Quebec film industry should be viewed as a separate entity from Canadian film, and not as a regional cinema of Canada. Michel Houle even argues that the Quiet Revolution was started in part due to the freedom of speech that came from the films of the early 1960s; they instigated a sort of identity crisis in the people of Quebec (168). With this, film production was also subject to the growing auteur principle, which stressed artistic control, expressive freedom, and personal style in direction, independent of established industry practices , (Reines 24 25). This meant that many film directors started to take on their own styles and thusly formed a set of characteristics that became standard of Quebec films: further rejection of outside film industries practices, and the shift towards the le direct style of filmmaking (Gittings ... Grendel s mom was the first fight of revenge within the poem, and it served as a warning to mankind, that everyone must not fight based purely on revenge, and it will not end in favor of the city. It therefore, proves that that holding on to someone or something for long periods of time, could eventually destroy oneself mentally or physically. It is interesting to that the revenge of Grendel s mother almost was a example to take not, that revenge doesn t solve our problems, this seems to be mentioned again at the end of the poem by Wiglaf. Tolkien s universe in The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao prove to be more than just an allusion to the fantastical works. The recurring comparisons of the Trujillato to the power of Sauron are more than just metaphors. They are descriptions. Diaz uses his references to describe people and situations, in real life, that have no other way of being described. The first direct quote of Oscar de Leon is, What more sci fi than Santo Domingo? Diaz uses the allusion to explain even what the sister of Trujillo thinks, knowing that Shelob does not like to kill her prey right away, instead stinging them and leaving them paralyzed before she actually kills them. This method is used against Beli as well; when La Fea orders her orcs to capture Beli, she is beaten to the brink of death, but not killed. The perfection and detail of Diaz s allusion goes much deeper than a simple metaphor, and actually defines who this character is. When Tolkien originally wrote The Lord of the Rings, he did so as reference to World War II, which was ongoing at the time. For him, Sauron was a representation of Hitler; the gaze of His Eye, the spread of industrialization and destruction from the war. For Diaz, Sauron is Trujillo, the gaze of His Eye, the domination he exerted, as well as the anonymity of his secret police. Both of these monuments were established by previous presidents under the 1906 Antiquities Act. The issue that is occurring in these monuments is that President Trump wants to reduce the size of both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante and make them available for companies to use in order to extract resources, such as oil and coal. • 40. College Admission Essay I ve always been interested in the field of medicine. When I was being born, I almost died, being saved only by the ingenuity of a Nurse Day for whom my middle name is dedicated to. Above all else, I want to have an impact on the quality of life for others, and I think the University of Pennsylvania is one of, if not the, best ways to do that. Its bioengineering department is consistently ranked to be the most rigorous in the field, and I can handle rigor. Given that the vast majority of bioengineering undergraduates at UPenn take part in independent research and that many go on to publish their findings, the tools to excel at UPenn are readily available, and I plan to excel. I find this, more than anything else, to be why I find UPenn to be so appealing. The ability for and even the encouragement of undergraduate students to follow their own path, to design their own trials, and to even publish their results is very captivating to me.... These reasons could include premarital cohabitation or in other words living together before marriage, marrying at a young age, and finally the presence of children. All three of these reasons are said to be the most significant of circumstances that lead to the end of relationships. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However these thoughts stray from the beliefs and values the generations before us had. Marriage was meant to last forever, a marriage ending within 72 days would be looked upon as a taboo subject, and the wife would be ridiculed by her community and would most likely not be looked upon for remarriage. In past generations marrying at a young age is what was expected. The younger the age the easier it was to start a family, however in the 20th century marrying at the age of 18 or younger can be a huge factor to why couple s divorce. The reasons to this could be the maturity of the young couple. Marriage is a very serious thing, a person no longer lives only for themselves, they have another person to think about and take care of. The text states Teenagers may lack the maturity to handle the responsibilities of marriage. Their youth and relative inexperience in relationships also may lead them to make less sensible choice in marital partners. (Baca Zinn, et al, 2011, p. 378) When discussing this generation especially marrying at a young age can be extremely detrimental to the longevity of a marriage. For example, in earlier generations the women married at the young age of 15, this was due to their ability to bear children at this age, although they were young, the women were still raised to prepare for this time in their lives. In modern society this is not the case, at the age of 15 young women are still looked at as children than adults, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. The Formation Of Acc And Its Conversion Into Ethylene The evolution of ACC also brings about the production of 5Вў methylthioadenosine nine. Increase in the rate of respiration of the fruit gives ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) need for the methionine cycle and can lead to induced ethylene production without high levels of intracellular methionine. SAM is a crucial methyl giver and relates to numerous aspects of cellular metabolism. Thus, the two steps involved in the synthesis of ethyleneis the formation of ACC and its conversion into ethylene. The genes encoding ACS and ACO have therefore been studied more deeply than other enzymes in the pathway, although there is proof that a few other genes concerned with methionine synthesis and methionine salvage pathway are differentially demonstrated throughout ripeningand in response to ethylene (Alba and others 2005; Zegzouti and others 1999). ACS and ACO are encoded by multigene families in higher plants, with tomato having at most nine ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS1B, and LEACS2 8) and п¬Ѓve ACO (LEACO1 5) genes (Barry and others 1996; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Oetiker and others 1997; Van der Hoeven and others 2002; Zarembinski and Theologis 1994). Expression survey has disclosed that at least four ACS (LEACS1A, LEACS2, LEACS4, LEACS6) and three ACO (LEACO1, LEACO3, LEACO4) genes are differentially shown in tomato fruit(Barry and others 1996, 2000; Nakatsuka and others 1998; Rottmann and others 1991). • 48. My Papa s Waltz Poem Analysis Memory of an Abusive Father In discussions of My Papa s Waltz, one controversial issue has been about a fond memory of his father . On the one hand, some readers argue The poem was about abuse . On the other hand, many readers contend It was a somber poem that expresses a son s love for his father, despite his father s alcoholism and abusive ways. Others even maintain that the poem had everything to do with something positive and memorable. However, after deconstructing the poem, it becomes increasingly clear that the poem is about kid who s dad is an abusive alcoholic father and still seeks ways to admire him. While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect on a memory portraying the abusive nature alcoholic father. It is evident that imagery has a significant impact in My Papa s Waltz to portray the meaning and purpose of the poem. In the first stanza it states The whiskey on your breath could make a small boy dizzy. This line creates imagery by using sensory language because it uses smell to intensify the description of the father, furthermore supporting the idea about the poem being about an abusive alcoholic father. • 49. How Did Frederick Douglass Benefit From His Education Throughout the works of Frederick Douglass there is a prominent contradiction referring to literacy. At times, Douglass regrets his education as it makes his slavery more difficult to tolerate. Additionally, his education opens them up to more abuse as Harriet Jacob asserts they were living in a culture of silence (Cutter 209). Thorough examination of Frederick Douglass writing reveals various paradoxes within his testimony regarding his literary education; while Douglass did benefit from his education in some way, in many other ways, it shattered his spirit and lead to a lifetime of abuse. Douglass narrative demonstrates how his literary education is both a blessing and a curse. He believed that permitting slaves to read was a contradiction, a paradox if you will, unable to render freedom, or provide them a legitimate education. Douglass reasoned that the education was a ploy to let African Americans believe they were treated fairly. Douglass expresses, As I read and contemplated the subject, behold! that very discontentment which Master Hugh had predicted would follow my learning to read had already come, to torment and sting my soul to unutterable anguish (Douglass 1200). Douglass displays the injustice and frustration of this situation; he is fully aware that he is being treated unfairly. For a short time, Douglass did consider his literacy a gift. This was the first opportunity that many African Americans had to obtain an education. Having the ability to read ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her most well known film Triumph of the Will (Triumph des Willens, 1935) is still considered the greatest propaganda film of all time. While Riefenstahl claims that the film is a documentary and based on history . Susan Sontag s response is that the film it is seen as a portrayal of a fascist society. A Nazi propaganda tool and not necessarily intended as a fascist viewpoint. Sontag reasons that the film techniques, and the relationship between Leni Riefenstahl and the Nazi leadership as well as the consistent illustration of fascist themes found in the film establishes that Triumph of the Will is fascist and intended to promote and preserve the Nazi ideology. During the rise of power of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party s in the 1930 s, Leni Riefenstahl became a household name as a film director, her claim to fame was putting a public face to Hitler. There are many different sources of mass media; broadcast, advertising, digital, hypermedia, interactive, multimedia, new media, news media, print media, published media, recorded media and social media(Dictionary.com 2017). Considering all the different forms media can take, it isn t all too shocking that media has had an influence on deviant behaviors. The media s influence though, is attributed to promoting deviance rather than reducing it. When individuals contemplate the term deviance, they often think of it as behavior that is inherently bad. Contrary to that belief, deviance is described as a behavior that departs from the social constructs of a society(Thio 2010). Deviance, criminal or not, is commonly used amongst mass mediato entertain their viewers. The media relies on their audience s inherent social constructs to make a profit. Without the meanings attached to these deviant behaviors, there wouldn t be any motive behind showing them.
