2. Persuasive Essay On World Hunger
World hunger is on the rise since the turn of the century. Many people overlook world hunger
because there are many organizations supporting the cause. Awareness has been brought towards
the cause but surprisingly the number still keeps going up. In 2016, the number of chronically
undernourished people reached 815 million, up 38 million from the previous year (McVeigh, K).
Having 11% of the world s population be undernourished is a serious problem that many people are
not aware of. Even though there is a campaign to end world hungerby 2030 it will be impossible to
achieve if people don t start to help. UNICEF has recognized this and has launched it s own
world hunger campaign that has inspired many to make a difference. There are 795 million
people in the world that do not posses the nutritional necessities to live a healthy life (World
Hunger Statistics). Furthermore, one in seven people on Earth are hungry. It is just not hunger
that affects so many people in the world, but also lack of clean water. UNICEF understands this
issue and has conducted its own research. In 2012 it was estimated by UNICEF that alone 6.6
million children under the age of five died that year from preventable causes (EVERY CHILD
COUNTS). That is like losing the entire population of Los Angeles and Chicago combined. Of
those 6.6 million children, nearly 45% died of poor nutrition. That is close to three million children.
WFP (World Food Programme) estimated that it takes about $3.2 billion

3. United States And The First International War
There have been several wars within countries itself and across the world, but there has only
been one World War I or what some people may call The First International War. This war had
pitted the central powers of countries against each other causing alliances to form and having an
unbelievable amount of manpower need to fight over the years of 1914 to 1918. Most people
around my age do not know anything about this war due to the fact that it possibly has not been
taught to them. However, the war consumed so many people in it because it was so violent. It
damaged those who were involved because there was no sight of the end after the first few months
it began. Also, not all of the world s major powers joined right away. The United States... Show

But, with this event happening there were ideas of war from other countries already in mind such
as Serbia and Russia who were quick to jump aboard for each other and support the cause for
Serbia that would give them an advantage to strike first. With an understanding of what was
coming, Austro Hungary plan to declare war but, had to wait on the Germany to give an assurance
of support. In addition, there was the development of Britain prior to war of taking down the
communication of their enemies to have an advantage:
British officials developed plans to wage information warfare prior to 1914. Members of the British
government charged with contemplating the defense of the empire studied international
communications in 1891, in 1898, and again in 1911. They examined how to protect imperial
communications and how to destroy enemy submarine telegraph cable connections in wartime.
(Winkler 848) With including that information some can say that all war tactics were not about
manpower or firepower but, to temporally take away the communication of their enemy especial
Germany. Then it happened, on July 28, Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia and within a
week, Russia, Belgium, France, Great Britain and Serbia had lined up against Austria Hungary and
Germany, and World War Ihad begun World War I History . When war was first started The Battle
of Marne was said to be the first turning point for Germany in which France and Britain took to the

4. Dramatic Tension in Miller s All My Sons Essay
Dramatic Tension in Miller s All My Sons
This extract begins with Chris and Ann deciding how they re going to break the news to the
Kellers. They start with Joe Keller, and he somewhat approves. The scene is lighthearted until
Keller finds out the George is on the phone for Ann from Columbia. This drives is suspicions and
gets him very protective. He begins to try and hint to Chris that Ann is here to try and convict him
of the death of Larry. Chris then gets very angry with him, and Joe compensates by bringing out
his extreme love and care for the success of his family. The tension of the scene gradually builds
up until this part, where Joe Keller abruptly gets very content and jokes about how ... Show more

The audience can sense this with the direct tone in Chris speech to his father.
Miller very effectively uses contrast between the tension in a scene with the skillful use of light
hearted preludes or interludes. The contrast means the dramatic tension has increased. This is
usually done with characters like Frank or Sue. This helps the audience distinguish the tension
better. In this extract, Miller uses Keller s overriding affection and graduated self confidence at
the end of the extract to bring down the tension. Keller becomes very witty and cheerful: There s
gonna be a wedding, kid, like there never was scene! Champagne, tuxedos ! The tension is very
abruptly brought down, as it directly follows Chris and Keller s argument. The contrast in tension
creates a morbid curiosity in the audience, where they can no longer predict what is to come, which
makes the play even better. This increases the rate of anticipation.
The most obvious feature of drama is perhaps the dialogue. Miller uses the skill of using offensive
speech to bring about the tension. He deliberately causes conflict between two characters to
increase the tension. More over, Miller uses stage directions as a dramatic device to bring about the
tension in a scene. Keller makes a distracted entrance onto

5. A Nation Worth Defending By William Bennet
The Meaning of Being American What does it mean to be an American? Can this statement ever
really be defined since America is a melting pot of different races, religions, political views, social
views and so on and so fourth. To be an American can mean virtually anything and whether or not
somebody supports national symbols is just another part of being and American. As Americans we
have the right to disagree with the government, the right to protest against something unjust, the
right to burn a flag in disgrace because after all we have freedom of speech. To some these things
are un American, but to others they are the reasons America is such a wonderful place to live. There
is no definite answer to this question, but many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iraq is a perfect example. The Iraqis were in trouble and they needed help. It was our duty as
Americans to go into Iraq and liberate the Iraqi people. As Americans it was and still is our duty
to support this kind of war, as democracy is the best form of government and it should spread
throughout the world. Along this same line, it is the duty of Americans to believe and support
democracy to the fullest extent. Our for fathers gave their lives in the pursuit of democracy and
to go against this would treason to an extent. As William Bennet said in his essay, A Nation
Worth Defending , American patriotism has always been rooted in love of the principles upon
which the nation was founded: liberty, equality, justice, and democracy. America is the greatest
nation on Earth and we are privileged to be a citizen of it. America was founded on the principal
of freedom: Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the freedom to choose who and what
you want to be, these are all rights outlined in the bill of rights and the constitution. So, what does
it mean to be an American? Well, it means that you support and accept people of different
nationalities, political beliefs, religions and everything about another person s culture. America is
a country were Freedom rings from sea to shining sea. American is a place where people should

The most interesting part of this week s reading is The Four Noble Truths. In Buddha s first
sermon he discussed these truths to his disciples. The Four Noble Truths are: Life is suffering,
suffering is caused by craving, suffering can have an end, and there is a path which leads to the
end of suffering. Life is sufferingis the realization that the world is in fact suffering. Suffering
and pain are referred to as Duhka , there are three types of Duhka s. Duhka Duhka is suffering
due to biological causes which can refer to physical illness or broken bones. The second is
Viparinama Duhka which refers to suffering due to change or impermanence, which is pain due to
the fact that nothing lasts forever i.e. a person s life. The final is Samskara

How Michael Moore Makes His Arguments in Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore in his latest documentary, Bowling for Columbine , has aimed his camera directly
between the eyes of our American culture. Using the school shootings of 1999 in Columbine and
Flint as a starting point, Moore documents the fear and hypocrisy that has come to define this
American culture. I m going to avoid discussion of the specific material presented in this moving
film; I feel no need to reinvent the wheel, it would only come out square. Personally, I have never
been witness to a more powerful, more heartfelt documentary. Michael Moore, a Flint, MI native, is
obviously shaken, and incensed by these shootings. In the role ... Show more content on

I ve come down off that high. If everyone in America saw this movie, we d probably go home to
the same frightened, gun laden neighborhoods. But self awareness that Bowling for Columbine can
provide would be a good first step for many of us.
Likely to be most thought provoking film of the year, Bowling For Columbine is Michael Moore
s big, heartfelt, funny, angry, messy exploration of guns and violence in U.S. culture. The question
posed is this: Why do we as Americans shoot and kill over 11,000 people on average each year?
What causes the Columbines? What causes innocent bystanders? Why don t other countries have
these problems, even ones with lots of guns, or a violent national history? What makes us so
insanely special?
Moore s savviest choice is to avoid placing blame for American gun violence on easy targets.
Indeed, he seems less interested in placing blame than in burrowing in to find the reasons behind
the problems, to peel back the curtain and take a long hard look at the wizard (In the film s climax,
Moore interviews NRA chieftain Chuck Heston. Heston was always a bold actor, and here he
bravely chooses to talk to Moore void of all logic, proving that utter cluelessness can serve evil just
as well as malice can.)
Columbine makes a cogent argument we don t so much have a gun culture as we have a fear

It s Time to Put an End to Corporal Punishment in Schools
Seven countries Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Austria, Italy and Cyprus have laws making
it illegal for parents to use physical punishment on their children. Corporal punishment in schools
has been banned in all the countries in Europe, South and Central America, China and Japan. The
United States has outlawed corporal punishment from our prisons as cruel and inhumane treatment,
as well as wife beating, once thought to be the right of a husband. Why don t we afford the same
protection to our children?
Our culture sanctions the use of corporal or physical punishment as a way for parents to discipline
their children. Just a few weeks ago Marvin Munyon, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It doesn t teach them self control or ways to change their behavior other than not getting caught
misbehaving. One of the ways kids learn is by watching and mimicking the world around them,
especially their parents. They are quick to learn when words and actions don t coincide, for
example, when a parent spanks a child because the child hits someone else. Being a parent is not
an easy job and it takes time and patience to discipline children.
After a year of implementing a specific discipline for my daughter s temper tantrums, I witnessed
my daughter exercise self control at the age of three. Temper tantrums were her specialty. When
my daughter flew out of control I would put her in her room until she calmed down. Then she was
allowed to rejoin the family and finish the task she was asked to do, or apologize depending on the
circumstances. In this particular instance, when my daughter got angry she picked up her blanket
and stomped upstairs crying without me saying a word other than she couldn t play her musical
instruments in the same room while her sister was watching television. She stayed upstairs for
about ten minutes. After that, she came downstairs and proceeded to play quietly. I sat there in
utter amazement! She had disciplined herself.
To discipline a child we must first consider the problem and why the child is misbehaving. Are we
expecting too much from the child at their age?

9. Developmental Life Cycle Theory
The family developmental and life cycle theory is the studying of families, which include stages
that the family move through based on life experiences, that are usually predictable depending on
the stage they are in (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele, Tabacco, Hanson, 2015). There are nine tasks that
families must accomplish in order for the familyto achieve well being. In this discussion board
post, I will be discussing task two, which is financing childbearing and child rearing. Having
children, whether planned or not, produces additional expenses for a family that some may not
be prepared for. While parents don t immediately think about long term cost when raising a child,
it is shown that raising a child in American from birth to age 17, is over $241,080, and this
number is expected to increase every year Covert, 2013). It is estimated that over 15 million
children are living in povertyin the United States. These families encounter an imbalance in their
education, health care, and socioeconomic resources (Milteer, Ginsburg, Mulligan, 2012). These
low income families must focus on their daily survival and this creates an economic hardship.

had no precognition that after they became pregnant, the father would be injured, therefore
reducing their income. In conclusion, as their nurse, I was able to assess their family dynamics
and conclude that by providing them with additional places to get assistance, this family was able
to achieve an acceptable well being until the father was rehabilitated and back on his feet

11. Tough Drinking Bar
While tending bar can be an interesting job with clientele of all walks of life that can make for a
very exciting shift, it s also one that s quite a bit more difficult than it looks when on the other

skills, and the ability to be firm in decisions and not easily be swayed or talked out of them are
necessary in this position, in addition to possessing observational skills.
It is necessary to posses judgment skills in order to make decisions on who to serve, how much,

(who may not want to be around someone intoxicated and consider the night ruined as a result),
as well as the guest who has been drinking in excess, it s important to know when someone needs

12. The Importance Of National Treasures
Protecting National Treasures in the United States allow us to view our past, present, and future.
We have the moral responsibility to keep our historical sites from deterioration. Viewing these
treasures allow us to view the past and help mold the future for the generations to come. It s a hard
place to be when you want to protect these national treasures, but at the same time you want the
world to progress in education, research, and into a more advanced society. This goal can lead us
down a path of destruction of nature s blessings. This can also be an opportunity cost situation.
National Treasures are currently protected by The Department of Interior and the Department of
Agriculture with the assistance of the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
USDA Forest Service, and National Park Services. They help protect these beauties that are a
dying phenomenon. We still have our current National Parks due to the Wilderness Act of 1964.
If we don t step up, then our children might not have the pleasure of having National Treasures to
visit with their children or know what an actual forest is. This phenomenon is discussed in the
story of The Lorax. How cold and depressing would it be to live in a place where everything

13. The Destruction Of Self Individuality In America Today
The Destruction of Self Individuality In a world where people are edged to act as their own,
comes the contradiction of perspicacity. If, and when, what you do, wear, or feel doesn t align
with society s description of ideal; it then falls as an act of rebellion, misconduct, or the seeking
of attention. Today, as individuals of society, we are eradicating each other other not by the
temperament of a person, but by the image we portray everyone to be. Anything more or less
than that is anathema. Individuality is limited and under attack in America today. The
destruction of self individuality takes place during all stages of life, not just as an adolescent.
Although children often do not take into consideration the thoughts of those around them, does
not make them any less susceptible to it. As children we are taught that pink is a girl color and
blue is for boys, girls play will dolls and boys play with trucks, girls must always behave properly
and boys will be boys . We limit the desired toys they want, option of favorite colors, and the
option of distinct originality. We often do not realize the restrictions we set on the younger
generations because those are the rules of society, and we must play the game. As the teenage years
approach, we enforce more rules at a stricter rate. At this point in time, what you... Show more

The limitations are set out far worse than the few examples mentioned. Our society is not very

society that we are all a part of, and are all guilty of being a part of the destruction. There will
never be a change until the realization is clear to all. If we want a change, it starts with us.

In the two short stories, A Rose for Emily and Neighbor Rosicky , the authors portray a women s
role in family and society similarly. Faulkner and Cather both show the day to day lives of women
as the cook, cleaner, and manager of their household. In society, women take on a gender role that
dictates the kind of behaviors that are considered normal. Faulkner and Cather also assert that it is
not normal for a womanto work outside of the home. In fact, working outside the home is frowned
upon as a form of aberrant behavior. A woman is to be the house manager, a wife
and mother, and to
pass down her knowledge to the youth.
In each of the stories it states that woman are in charge of keeping the house in order. When
Emily vanished from her house, leaving only her male servant in charge, a putrid smell had

20. Mishima Yukio Identity
Masks and alternate identity is a major theme in Mishima Yukio s Confessions of a Mask. The
narrator believes that throughout his youth, he had been playing a role on a stage to hide his real
self. However, contrary to what the narrator claims, throughout the novel, he is not playing the
role of another personality. He is simply hiding. It is only in the conclusion, when the when the
war is over, and the need for order and principle and everyday life is restored, that he finally sees
the creation of his other identity В– the masculine figure that conforms to the society s idea of men.
Before he reaches puberty, the narrator is oblivious to the differences between his peers and
himself В– he simply assumes that everybody else is just... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then has his misconception that he is the only boy who has the complexity to wear a mask.
Instead, he comes to believe that their appearance and action perfectly conformed to what they
really are. While his peers could be their natural selves, he must put on a mask and gain control
over [his] consciousness. And thus he comes to realize that the difference that separates him
from his peers, other than his sexual orientation, is the mask and the secret, shameful portion of
[his] mind that hides behind it. Contrary to his belief, the narrator does not have a mask on.
Although the narrator believes in a misconception that he is В‘playing the role of a boy, when in
fact, what he considers to be a mask is simply his body and his male appearance. The narrator is
never in a real need to В‘play a role because nobody really actively tries to find out who he really
is. His peers, based on his appearance, all assume that he shares the same sexual orientation as they
do. Furthermore, the male body, for the narrator, the male body has significance in the narrator s
mind. With their perfect, muscular body, Omi, St. Sebastian, and Yakumo all have the definition of
the perfection of life and manhood. To the narrator, the body is not only a manifestation of
manliness, it is the embodiment of the untamed

22. The Effective Use of Symblism in The Scarlett Letter by...
The Effective Use of Symblism in The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
The novel, The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne is an intriguing account of a Puritan
community that experiences a breakdown in beliefs. The story deals with a woman, Hester, who
commits adultery with a Calvinistic minister resulting in the birth of a child (Martin 110). As
compensation for her crime of passion and her refusal to name her lover, Hester is sentenced to
wear an embroidered scarlet letter on her bosom. It is this letter, or secret sin, that becomes the
emphasis of the novel and assumes many different roles (Martin 111). Hawthorne starts the novel
by portraying the literary reality associated with the different aspects of the letter ... Show more

The Puritans are firmly against Hester s actions and feels that she has disgraced them along with
herself. They feel that she must take responsibility for her actions. The effect of her punishment
however is not what the Puritans had hoped to achieve. Hester s sin has grown from that of passion
to one of purpose. Even with Hester s sympathetic attitude, she was not filled with regret and
therefore the letter had not done its task (Martin 122). To the Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, the
scarlet letter contains a whole new meaning. He views the letter as a constant reminder of his sin
and cowardice. His guilt continues to grow as a result of his not being able to come forth in
front of the community and take responsibility for his actions. His guilt and sin become
magnified by his inability to stand beside Hester at the scaffold. Dimmesdale, also is ironically
charged with questioning Hester and trying to convince her of the importance of identifying her
fellow sinner (Hawthorne 52). He begins to feel more and more grief and it begins to affect his
mental and physical state. He soon becomes weak; however, it is believed by the community to
be because of his too unreserved self sacrifice to the labors and duties of the pastoral relation
(Hawthorne 80). When Dimmesdale is believed to be near death, the community again believes it
is because the world was not worthy to be any longer trodden by his feet (Hawthorne 88).

I have concerns about Bob Koch s professionalism, communication skills, willingness to contribute

Background:
The Mobile Library department has 1 full time PSA4 (clerk/driver). The full time PSA4 works 5

After a long and confusing day, we headed back to the house and thought about all the adventures

Ernie took us to almost every place in town. The first spot we went to was the local grocery store

29. The Education System Of The Republic
Education is a transfer of knowledge from one generation to another. Some societies have oral
traditions while others transfer the knowledge by written works. In Plato s Republic, for Socrates
the education system is structured in two major parts: the education of the mind and character and
the physical training. For Socrates, truth, justice, and goodness are the main principles for a utopic
society. Indeed, for him the truth is universal and therefore in order to have a perfect utopic society
it community should be dedicated and based on truth. In fact, in this imaginary society the
educational system is an oral transfer of knowledge, which is based on trues stories and fiction. The
Republic shows that in this imaginary society the educationis strictly control and does not portray
any of the three principles of a utopic society. The educational system of The republic demonstrates
that nothing is utopic in this imaginary society. The education of this society is controlled and
people could only have one set of mind. Everyone is different and therefore should have the right of
choosing when, how and what they want to study. The varieties of educational system normally
allow this, but in this society, it is not the case. In this society, the education is supervised and
controlled: Then it seems that our first business is to supervise the production of stories, and choose
only those we think suitable, and reject the rest (Plato377 b). The education goes from one

30. Persuasive Essay On Locavorism
Locavorism is the movement of eating locally raised, grown and produced food. Local food is
defined as food that is produced in a 100 mile radius of where it was purchased. This trend has
become a worldwide phenomenon and recognized as a potential solution to modern food production
problems in the United States. Due to the numerous benefits, Locavorism is the best solution to
solving the Unites States food problems. These benefits include increased economic support,
improved environmental care, and promotion of fair food markets.
Today nearly every aspect of society is ran by money. As a result this makes it difficult to not
discuss the economic side of something. Local eating involves essentially buying food directly
from the source. Which in turn provides money almost directly to the farmer and gives them the
ability to further improve the farm. Azeveado (6 7) cites a study done by the New Economics
Foundation within London. The study showed that at a local store the profit returned to the economy
was more than double that which was spent. So an item which cost 10 pounds returned an amount
of 25 pounds to the local economy. While studying a supermarket, the same amount of money
spent only returned 14 pounds. This research shows undeniable proof that buying local helps the
local economy. The economic increase from a large amount of people doing this could greatly
improve money problems within the United States. More money would be available for public

31. Cause And Effects Of The Korean War
Recently there has been a few state actors who are now threating the United States much more then
they have in the past. The foremost and greatest threat to the U.S. is North Korea as it stands right
now. This was confirmed by Defense Secretary James Mattis stating, North Korea s advancing
missile and nuclear programs were the most urgent threat to national security and that its means to
deliver them had increased in speed and scope (Ali, 2017). Over the past six months, the Korean
Warpart II has been slowly starting to take shape and threat of war could be looming in the future.
The Korean War, which started 67 years ago, which has technically never ended, led to the deaths
of about 600,000 North Korean and 1 million South Koreans, along with hundreds of thousands of
U.S. troops (Berlinger, 2017). The legacy of the brutal war lives on in North Korea, where key
pieces of propaganda are still used by the regime today. The world is closely watching the tug of
war between the world s super power and the lonely North Koreans, having both President
Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un aware of the immense cost of the another Korean
War (Berlinger, 2017). Defense Secretary James Mattis stated: both the U.S. and North Korea

brink of war. Both have interest in avoiding a war, which would be in nobody s best interest. If

necessary war measure that deemed slaves residing in areas of rebellion free, however, complete
freedom was not promised to the enslaved. This document signified an important turning point
during the ongoing Civil War, for it left the Confederacy at a severe disadvantage. Lincoln knew
that the creation of the Emancipation Proclamation would be a morally and tactically correct path

the establishment of slavery in addition to coping with an ongoing war, the economy of the
Confederacy plummeted. The amount of slaves producing goods in the South slowly decreased as

Dr. Gibson Engaging the Adult Learner
Engaging adults during the learning process is an action that encompasses the use of skills to
conquer their concentration and interest. The engagement is performed to ensure the adult learners
will immediately identify with the information and the objective of the teaching. Once the
identification and objectivity is formed learning is able to proceed. Therefore, the engagement
process for adult learners must be unique and display sensitivity in an effort to achieve learning.
Moreover, it is necessary for adults to know their efforts put towards lifelong learning will have
meaningful value later.
Engaging
The overreaching goal of engagement during the instructional process is to achieve learning (J.J
Keller Associates, n.d.). Learning is the process by which a new skillset or information is acquired
through review, practical exercise, and experience to name a few producing understanding or
skillfulness (Merriam Webster, n.d.). In an effort to facilitate learning during engagement of the
adult learner, considerations should be applied and adjusted if needed to the presentation of the
material which contributes to optimal learning. Optimal learning for the adult provides for
engagement and allows retention of knowledge to transpire which is impacted by the training
approach of the instructor (Kelly, 2006). The instructor s teaching

To say the least, the environmental impact of climate change at its current rate would disastrous.
Perhaps even more dangerous, however, are the economic implications of such environmental
change. Wine is France s second biggest crop, generating around 9 billion Euros and is their
number one export (Greenpeace, 2009). Furthermore, the wine sector represents almost 200,000
jobs. Increased temperatures due to climate change would prove to be catastrophic. For
example, in 2003, a heat wave hit Burgundy, causing wine production to fall in over 30%
(Greenpeace, 2009). This kind of destructive heat could become a norm if current trends are not
reversed. Beyond heat, climate change also poses risks such a new diseases, increased erosion
and flooding and rotting of grapes due to increased CO2. These factors would subsequently
destroy one of France s largest economic sectors and exports. France also fears that climate
change could severely handicap their tourism sector, which makes up 6% of their GDP (Reuters,

Despite tensions between Texan politicians and the national government, it is to our benefit that we

spreading a message to an intended audience. Moreover, authors around the world have been trying
to master the art of humorhave created their own unique flavors of humor by appealing to an
intended audience or by following the guidelines of certain theories about humor. These authors
may also use comedyto convey a theme or message; for instance, podcasts spreading a political idea
or a comedian realizing a flaw in society.
Moreover, comedians/authors may change up their act when trying to appeal to a new audience and

May it be political or a message about the true nature of those who are supposed to be evil. For
instance, a comedian by the name of Gabriel Iglesias once told a story about his trip to Saudi
Arabia during a special of his called, Aloha Fluffy . Essentially, Gabriel was hired by a Saudi
Prince to perform in the capital of Riyadh. During his travel he learned about the culture of Saudi
Arabia and how different it was when compared to the U.S s. That s when Gabriel learned that
the Saudis weren t all bad people, unlike how the news portrays them as explosive maniacs. Of
course he also sprinkled in some jokes as well. In my opinion Gabriel s message was a good one.
It simply reminds people that you shouldn t just judge a group of people just from what you see
of them on TV. You should first talk to them and understand them before making your call.
Except Trump, because he doesn t deserve a chance (I say sarcastically). Additionally,
comedians may also want to spread a political message based on their opinion. An example of a
comedian/author who uses comedy in order to promote a political message would be Steven
Crowder. In his blog, Louder with Crowder.com he has a video that s essentially a parody of a
town hall debate with Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. Furthermore, in the video, Trump and
Bernie were asked a multitude of questions relating to certain events in the U.S around 2016 or

40. Senior Safety Research Paper
Subject: Risk Management Matters August Newsletter
Programming Idea of the Month Senior Safety Tips
To kick off the new school year, have seniors lead a risk management workshop for the chapter. As
veterans of Kappa and the campus community, they have a wealth of knowledge about how to
navigate unique local safety issues and have a fun and safe time at chapter events. This could
include general safety tips utilizing a campus sober driver program, avoiding a certain street when
walking home at night or social event related advice using the buddy system, never leaving your
drink unattended. Having a variety of speakers also keeps the chapter interested and the chapter
typically respects and listens to seniors.
Tips for Safe Event Planning Check In and Checkout Process
The check in and checkout process is an integral part of monitoring the safety of chapter members
and their dates during a social event. However, what works best for your chapter may be a work in
progress.

This makes it easy to see who has not been accounted for at the end of the night and gives incentive
for members to follow the checkout process!
Using one central check in and checkout location may not be in the best interest of individual
safety on a sprawling campus. Consider trying two locations for an event to see if this might be a
better option for your chapter.
Try CheckItOut through Google forms. By doing some legwork upfront, this QR code powered
system could make check in and checkout a breeze.
Event post mortems be sure to meet as a Risk Management Committee immediately following an
event to discuss what went well and what can be improved. Take notes so that you can review them
when planning the next event and so you can pass them on to your successor!

41. The Maze Runner Analysis
In the book, The Maze Runner, Thomas faces a multitude of obstacles that he is able to
overcome. Thomas entrance into the Glade symbolizes a new birth for him, as he began a
completely new life. Thomas enters with feelings of fear and confusion, much like a baby that
opens his eyes for the first time in an unfamiliar place. He could not recall any previous memories
or skills and had to relearn everything to adapt to a new environment, which is not an easy feat.
Maturity doesn t come easily or without struggle, but Thomas pushed through these hindrances. He
develops tremendously from a person filled with a sense of loss into a strong and empathetic
leader that the Gladers look up to. By the end of the story, Thomas showcases his maturity,... Show

This reveals Thomas strength because he acknowledges that he needs someone to help him
through this new experience. Furthermore, when Teresa came, more eyes turned to Thomas
because it was unusual to have two people arrive to the Maze right after eachother and she was
the last person to enter the Glades. In addition to Gally s previous accusations, Ben also saw
Thomas in the Changing and attacked him. As Ben says at the end of page 72 and the
beginning of 73 as he is attacking Thomas, If you kill me, you ll get the wrong guy....He s not
one of us ! I saw him he s bad. We have to kill him. This shows that many Gladers are suspicious
of Thomas. Thomas knew he took part of something evil and he didn t know how, so this was
very tough on him. Since Ben attacked Thomas, he was sentenced to Banishment, which was
practically a death sentence. Thomas began to cry because he felt as if it was his fault this
happened to Ben. This was one of the first signs of Thomas beginning to mature, as it shows his
empathy towards the other Gladers and his ability to forgive. One very big change that impacted
Thomas development towards maturity was when he ran into the Maze. Thomas ran into the Maze
to save Minho and Alby, even though he barely knew them. He even broke certain rules in order to
save them. On page 113, after Thomas enters the Maze he tells Minho, I couldn t just sit there and
leave you guys out here . This shows his high level of compassion and maturity. Even though

42. South Korea Suicide
The prominent education frenzy in South Korea places students in a high stress environment which
can contribute to the risk for suicide ideation. The average school day in South Korea lasts eight to
nine hours, which is then followed by cram school and multiple hours dedicated to studying. An
anonymous student, quoted by BBC News, described her day as the following:
She rises at 6.30am, is at school by 8am, finishes at 4pm, (or 5pm if she has a club), then pops
back home to eat. She then takes a bus to her second school shift of the day, at a private crammer
or hagwon, where she has lessons from 6pm until 9pm. She spends another two hours in what she
calls self study back at school, before arriving home after 11pm. She goes to bed at 2am, and rises

In an article for the Economist by S. C., the author summarizes that the purpose of the exam is to
provide an analogous view of students abilities that universities or future employers can easily
reference. However, the fundamental problem with this method is that the test is only empirical if
students study for the same amount of time, otherwise those who study the most have an advantage
going into the test. With this knowledge in mind, students become overly competitive in an attempt
to get into leading colleges and spend a majority of their time studying or in academically related
situations. In order to accommodate for cram schools and the extra homework provided by them,
students sacrifice their time for themselves and their sleep. In a study published in the Korean
Journal of Pediatrics on sleep patterns and school performances, data indicated an average of less
than six hours of sleep on the weeknights for high schoolers. Additionally, the National Sleep
Foundation attributes behaviorally induced insufficient sleep syndrome, otherwise known as

46. Social Workers And The Social Worker Client Relationship
Today s social workers are surrounded by technology, which changes the way social workers and
clinicians practice. Technology helps social workers and clinicians work more efficiently and
effective, as it improves greater productivity, less paperwork, ultimately allowing more time for
clients. With the increase of use in technology, the current NASW Code of Ethics (2008), has
created new standards specifically related to electronic communications, such as email, fax
machines, computers, and electronic records. According to, Getz (2012), research and experience
thus far indicates that mobile application technology has the capability to support the social
worker client relationship . With the increase in technological advances, social workers have the
ability to utilize technological assessment tools in order to assist veterans with psychological
issues. Currently, there are many different websites that social workers or clinicians could use in
order to better serve and assess veterans. One online website that is beneficial for social workers to
use is the U.S Department of VeteranAffairs, PTSDAssessment. This website assists social
workers by giving information on a variety of measures assessing trauma and PTSD in Veterans,
such as assessment basics, training and tools, and veteran specific information (2015). This
website provides facts about PTSD, as well as a practical guide to assessing PTSD. I would use this

50. Midlife Crisis Research Paper
Growing up I would hear my mother talking to her friends and saying how my dad was going
through a midlife crisis. I would then hear the term again and again in life but I still had no clue
what it really meant. Midlife crisis is a term referring to a critical phase in human development
during the forties to early sixties, based on the character of change points, or periods of
transition. The period is said to vary among individuals and between men and women. So I will
break down what happens during this transition in a man and woman s life. I will also discuss what
could cause this to happen in ones life.
Male midlife crisis is defined by researchers as having a personal turmoil and coping challenges
in people brought on by fears and anxieties about growing older. (Lang, S. 2001)This emotional
transition will be experience by many men generally between the ages of 45 and 60, but men as
young as 40 can also experience it. Men are susceptible to this condition especially if they have had
a transition in their life or they have experienced something traumatic. Most men can deal with this
process without making any major changes to their lifestyles ... Show more content on

51. Hannibal Lecter Essay
The character I choose to do my clinical diagnosis is Dr. Hannibal Lecter, from the movie The
Silences of the Lambs, which is played by Anthony Hopkins. Dr. Hannibal is a psychopath serial
killer who uses charm, manipulation, intimidation, and violence to control his victims and others
to satisfy his own selfish needs. Because he lacks a conscience and feelings for others, he cold
bloodily takes what he wants and does what he pleases, violating social norms and expectations
without the slightest sin of remorse, guilt, or regret. Also Dr. Lecter suffered from Post Traumatic

They usually hate their parents. Almost every serial killer is abused as a child, whether it is
sexually, emotionally, physically, or psychologically. This abuse may come from a stranger or a
family member, but many serial killers try to lie about this history of abuse. Most serial killers
have records of early psychiatric problems and often spent time in institutions as children (i.e.:
mental hospitals or psychological rehabilitation centers). They have an intense interest in
voyeurism, fetishism, and sadomasochistic porn at a very early age, and they also have a very
high rate of suicide attempts. Future serial killers share three other traits in their childhoods.
More than sixty precent of serial killers wet their beds past the age of twelve. They also have a
fascination with fire, which may be an early manifestation of their fondness for mass
destruction. In addition, almost every serial killer starts his abuse and sadistic torture on animal
victims (Fisher and Fisher, 2003). In the movie Lecter listens to classical music, knows art, and
has vivid memory of beautiful places that he s traveled to, the places he has seen the picture for
example, of Claires Sterling and of France. I found him to be very intelligent because of the way
he committed his murders and the way he could read you like a book and know nothing about you.

53. Sophocles Euripides Antigone
In Sophocles Antigone, and in Euripides Medea, the Greek authors take on the topic of justice.
Each playwright addresses the issue of injustices suffered by women and the concept of natural law.
In both tragedies, the female leads seek justice after natural laws had been broken, but they
ultimately break the natural law themselves, resulting in more injustice.
During Medea s first long speech (lines 212 271), she declares that women are stricken with the
most wretched existence on earth. Within this speech, Euripides draws attention to many of the
injustices women underwent in ancient Athens. He refers particularly to their dependence on
marriage and their absence of a public life. A man, when he gets fed up with the people at home,
can go elsewhere to ease his heart he has friends, companions his own age. We must rely on just
one single soul, (lines 247 250). Here Medea point out how all women must rely on their husbands,
while their husbands are allowed to go out and a public life with friends.
A way that it is shown that women are viewed as wicked is through the portrayal of Medea being
a wild woman from a non Greek, land of the barbarian (line 261). Rather than being a Greek
citizen, Medea is compared to the other characters in the play, as being more impulsive and primed
to do something immoral. In the play, Medea isn t just pursuing justice in response to Jason and
Creon s crimes, but is also seeking to correct the injustice of the unequal

54. Leadership And Being A Leader
When it comes to leadership and being a leader I feel that a strong leader whom is inspiring is
one with a strong emotional intelligence. A leader who demands attention with strong emotion isn
t looked upon as a strong leader since they have intense drastic changes in mood which fear
followers and make people drift away. I feel that this is just a competencies that many overcome
and turn into strong leaders whom have made a big impact. A leader with a strong emotional
effectiveness often ends up on top since they are more capable of solving drastic complex problems
and are able to adapt to situations changing faster than someone without emotional intelligence
effecting them. To see a leader have a personal behavior competencies such as emotional
intelligence strike and come out on top when many feel a leader with emotionwouldn t be as strong
is boundless since it shows that strong leaders do have emotions and also do face personal issues
which make them relatable and in my opinion, more relatable/likeable since they can come to a
level of personal experience when dealing with employees or peers.
Personal Definition of Leadership
In my opinion, Leadership is someone who takes action, is influential, motivational, and has success
and partakes in equal responsibility in a group or organization. This means that as a leader they
guide and motivate team members in a positive uplifting way but if they make mistakes they
positively guide them in the correct direction. One
