Social Changes In The Industrial Revolution
Society had many social and economic changes throughout the time of the Industrial Revolution in
Great Britain during, 1750 to 1850. The Industrial Revolution is the time at which farming work
changed into factory work and new methods were made. This switch really benefited Britain. There
were many of each change in society, one of the economic changes could be selling stock, and all the
new types of businesses formed . Also new transportation and the assembly line all are considered
economic changes. A social change could be all the new advanced technology and urbanization. In this
time period a big social change would involve all the new technology. Society could use these new
advanced tools to communicate with others. One invention by Samuel Morse was telegraphs. These
telegraphs improved communication by making it easier to send people messages, they were even in a
secret code. Morse code was eventually named after Samuel Morse. Another change that happened in
the beginning of the change from agriculture to industry is urbanization. This is when the people move
from the rural areas to urban areas. The rural areas are on the countryside like farms, while urban areas
are cities with factories. People left the rural places because there was no longer jobs for them since
the agricultural revolution caused less farmers being needed, also the factories are taking over. The
factories were located in the cities; many people moved here because the factory owners would need

The Events At The University Of Arkansas At Monticello Essay
Throughout the last four weeks, I ve attended several events at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello. Some events were more organized than others, but each event had a different purpose and
all of the events was executed well. While in high school I participated in many on and off school
activities; in which taught me a valuable lesson that I later on used at the events on campus. The
activities taught me good communications skills that I needed during the events. During the events I
got the chance to use my communications skills that I learned by participating in activities in high
school. I got the chance to interact with new people and experience new things that I never done
before. Out of all the events I attended, I believed Rock the Clock was the most beneficial.
Although I think Rock the Clock was the most beneficial; I attended three more events other than
Rock the Clock. The other events were Cosmic Bowling, Freshman Orientation Day Two, and the
Mud Olympics. Although Rock the Clock was the most beneficial. Cosmic Bowling was on August
22nd at 7:00pm. Timberlodge Lanes sponsored the event and did a splendid job hosting the event and
publicizing the event. The event was publicized in brochures, letters, and flyers. On every wall I
walked by; I would see something promoting the event. Constantly seeing a reminder of the event
made me not forget about the event; and actually attend it. My roommate and I left around 7:45; once
we got there it was packed. We actually

How Energy And The United State s Global Influence On The...
The Unites States and The People s Republic of China have been ever growing superpowers on the
world scene since the last century. Their economies, military and social policies have been models and
adapted by other nations on Earth and their present day influences in these same criteria seem to have
no end. The driving force behind China s industrialization and the United State s global influence are
one in the same; Energy. Both these nations have been fortunate enough through their geological
locations to be able to find and harvest different sources of energy to propel their governments,
economies, militaries, ect and with the help of harvesting the ingenuity of their respective populations
to drive the discovery of more efficient and productive technologies in aspects of economics, home
life and energy. This essay will go on to illustrate what energy sources either nations use and why they
use them, what sources of energy they are trying to further develop and what sources of energy they
import as well as export. Finally, We will touch upon the energy relationship between the US and
China and compare this relationship through one or more international relations theories.
The United States The United States is a federal republic and one of the longest continuous
democracies in the world. With a population of approximately 325 million, the United State is both the
second largest producer and consumer of overall energy (China being the first). According to the

Playtime by Jacques Tati Shot Analysis
PLAYTIME by Jacques Tati Shot from 03:12 04:48 / Airport waiting room
__________________________________________________________________________ Jacques
Tati s 1967 film, Playtime, captures a cascading series of events through the sterile architecture of
Paris, in which few familiar characters inhabit. Tati s infamous alter ego, Monsieur Hulot, haphazardly
occupies many scenes as he stumbles through Paris after trying to contact an American official. The
film is confined to no genre, nor does it necessarily form a new one it simply exists in its own right as
an exploration of societal function. Originally shot on 70mm, the film carries ... Show more content on

The off centre position of the camera in relation to the furniture also allow for the chairs to act as
depth cues and show the enormous length of the room. Everything in the frame is in focus, which in a
cinema viewing is a lot to take in, especially considering the films aspect ratio of 1.85:1. However, the
audiences eyes are cleverly guided around the frame by almost unnaturally loud sounds, some of
which are accentuated in post production by Tati. The sounds against the floors create a reverbing
echo, highlighting the absurd impracticality of the building. A man and a woman sit in the bottom left
hand corner of the frame in what appears to be a waiting area. They are dressed identically in their
monotonous grey colours, as if they are enslaved to the colours surrounding them. During the shot s
beginning, the audience is drawn to the nuns and their rhythmic footsteps as they enter the frame.
Then, through a combination of actor gestures and dialogue, this gaze shifts to the two characters
anchored in the foreground of the image. The rattling of a table being wheeled out by a man in white
into the frame moves our eyes, as well as the couples own attention, to

Argument On Santa Clauses
Santa Claus was well known as a kind man who had a long white bread, wore big red white clothes
and carried children s gifts with his flying reindeers as a vehicle. Christians all around the world have
had Santa traditions since the 1820 s, which is lying children to believe in Santa, hang a sock on the
window, behave nicely and go to bed early so that Santa can come and give them presents
(Sleepypanda 2013). Until December 2016, psychologists claimed that Santa myth could destroy
children s trust to parents. All children will eventually find out they ve been consistently lied to for
years, and this might make them wonder what other lies they ve been told, (Boyle McKay 2016)
Based on my experience, when I was in elementary school, I remember the time that my English
teacher asked us to write postcard, she said that she would send the most beautiful postcard in the
class to Santa Clause, so we put high effort to create an outstanding postcard. They also asked us to
behave nicely for all day because Santa would come to the room and gave good children a present. In
that time, the reason I believed what they lied because I thought that teacher always teach student the
true and right thing, so they must tell us the truth as well. But, as time goes ... Show more content on

Is Santa myth healthy or dangerous to children? Since experts have argued about Santa myth for years,
there are some experts claimed that Santa myth is healthy for children. Alison Gopnik, psychologist,

existence of Santa Claus, it will not affect to skepticism or create any harmfulness to children.
Moreover, Dr. Matthew Lober, a child psychiatrist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City (2013)

A Simple User Interaction Is Never Simple
A simple user interaction is never simple. A person responding to a product, service, or information
tool is also influenced by his or her surroundings, branded content, and even other people woven into
the experience. When we study, craft, and engineer an experience, we need to consider all these
elements in order to be empathetic and effective designers. Of course, users bring their own frame of
mind and external inputs to any interaction. These are elements designers cannot control. Part of what
we can control is a user s reaction to individual elements and touchpoints the things that ultimately
build an impression of a brand. These are things we can design. People new to user experience (UX)
design are often initially intimidated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers also delve into trends at the product, design, consumer, and global level. They observe
market hurdles, whitespace and missed opportunities. Secondary research often plays a major role
here. Framing isn t just the gathering of that information. Framing is gathering, rebuilding, and
visualizing information so that it s easily grasped by everyone in the room, and serves as a useful tool
for further identifying opportunities. The importance of clear and impactful visual representations will
crop up again during later synthesis. 2) Watching and asking From framing we move into primary
research. Much of this consists of behavioral observation, focusing on points at which users are
offered choices (or lack of choice), points where they make decisions, the information on which they
base those decisions, and the behaviors they display when what they seek is unavailable. We call those
behaviors workarounds. Together with workarounds, we are examining pain points and joy points. Joy
points reveal what is working well about the current experience, while pain points highlight the
problematic aspects of the experience. In order to fully understand these joy and pain points, we watch
the world that the user lives in, delving into the physical

strong belief in their abilities. The difference comes in when their responses from other is revealed. A
confident person will show humility toward other and on the other hand an arrogant person will show
no concern for others. Usually people who are arrogant tend to have insecurity within them. An
arrogant person will run away from areas that show weakness and play up areas of strength. As oppose
to a confident persons who will acknowledge their weakness or faults. In Kerefoot,(2010) the author

Taking a Look at the City of Atlanta
Revenue Trends
With the continued sluggish economy, Atlanta s total revenue projections continue to decline from the
budget dating back to 2010 when the current mayor Kasim Reed took office. The City s property tax
base is the primary component accounting for 40% of the City s general fund revenues. Property tax
revenues have continued to experience declines associated with decreased residential tax bases,
negative reassessments, successful tax appeals and continued weakness in the housing market. The
City has demonstrated a measured response by continuing to budget property tax revenue collection
conservatively. To meet the projections, the collection rate in the proposed budget was set to rise to
98%, up from the previous year s collection rate of 96% (Pendered 2013). Public utility, alcoholic
beverages and other taxes are the second largest revenue source, at 23% resulting from franchise
agreements of the use of the City s right of way in providing public utilities such as
telecommunications, gas and electric and from taxes imposed on businesses operating in the City of
Atlanta. Sales tax revenue is the third largest share of general fund revenues accounting for nearly
20% of revenue anticipations. Sales tax revenue is extremely flexible due to changes in economic
performance associated with disposable income and unemployment levels. Despite still declining
revenues, the budget avoids service cuts and property tax hikes, while adding about a million dollars

Humpback Whale Definition
Rescuers on Sunday morning were planning to spare a child humpback whale that got stranded only
20 feet from West Seattle shore, yet endeavors fizzled and the youthful one died, reports say.
The 30 foot adolescent humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) was discovered caught in the
shallows close West Seattle s Fauntleroy Ferry dock in the small hours of the morning on August 7.
That day, several individuals rushed to the ship terminal and endeavored to help in protecting the
stranded creature, as indicated by a report from King5 News.
Tragically, endeavors were futile. A representative from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) says that the child humpback whale kicked the bucket hours after the fact.

Researchers have yet to decide the reason for the creature s demise, however tissue tests have been
taken. The youthful one s body was secured with whale lice, a sign of weakness, agents say.
Then, Huggins says authorities were unrealistic to choose whether to tow the well evolved creature to
somewhere else for a full necropsy or the tissue tests taken would suffice for an examination.
There are heaps of logistics required in doing an examination, says Huggins.
Barre says it is not exceptional to see humpback whales in Puget Sound on the grounds that the
populace has become in the course of recent years.
Indeed, even along these lines, NOAA s National Marine Fisheries Service suggests that a few
sections of the whale populace in the Northwest Pacific ought to be recorded as debilitated.
Barre says sightings of humpback whales have turned out to be less uncommon than they used to be,
however it is still unordinary to discover live whales get stranded.
In June, a 35 foot humpback whale was discovered dead in the Bremerton ship, yet a full necropsy did

Examples Of Honesty In Othello
Othello written by William Shakespeare is a play centered around the theme of fidelity and honesty. In
Iago s own words during act 2 scene 1 lines 223 248. The main villain in this story, Iago is driven by
the way women act. Iago is the main villain throughout the story, he is very twisted in the web of lies
he strings to manipulate the purity of people. His actions are motived by the jealousy of a main
character Cassio, and the anger through his story of an affair between Othello and his wife.
In Iago s speech, he speaks about the relationship between Othello and Desdemona in the sense that
she will one day get tired of Othello and move on to someone better. He expresses how easily she fell

The act of honesty is repeated throughout the story line of Othello, but in different ways. There is
honesty in the commitment of a relationship, honesty between two people, honesty in the truth about
the true character. When Iago is speaking with Roderigo in the speech, his shows honesty with the
idea of Desdemona falling for another guy. In the rest of the story Iago shows to other people that he is
an honest man who people can trust and depend on. Though anyone who is reading the book can
easily see that none of what he says to expresses to other people is truly honest. Affected by the
jealousy of Cassio getting the position, Iago is angered to make a plan to get the position instead of
Cassio. First proving that Cassio is not fit, then pinning an affair between Cassio and Othello s wife
Desdemona. He pins little details like a handkerchief that Othello gave Desdemona, in Cassio s, then
brought Othello to see that. Once he has Othello believing his wife was cheating on him, Iago misses
that his own wife isn t necessarily on his side. Iago s wife Emelia ends up telling everyone the truth,
sadly after Othello does go unhinged and kills Desdemona. In the end the story shows that love and
honesty go hand in hand. Dishonesty makes love grow weak, like it did between Desdemona and
Othello. Iago s actions were majorly punishable by death, not getting him what he had wanted. He
manipulated so many people in efforts to get a single position, but ruins everyone s life around him
without having a single care about what he is doing. The idea of honesty is repeated to dramatize the
idea of what happens when honesty is betrayed. If Iago were to have been an honest man, he wouldn t
have made the people around him

Historically, surveillance came in the form of a watch tower, designed to watch out for danger in order
to protect citizens. In a more recent context, the implementation has evolved now to supervise the
citizens in order to watch out for danger. The modern watch tower does not occupy the same physical
space as its predecessor and does not impress by its height, but rather, impresses by its seemingly
omnipresent eye in all channels of society and its reach into the lives of individuals, but that reach is
only enough to protect very specific dangers. Although mass surveillance portrays itself as proficient

Grandmother s House Essay
Grandmother s House
My grandmother s house has a very special place in my heart. As the family has gotten older and we

Thanksgiving and Easter most of all. On Thanksgiving the entire family would come together for

What Is Brian Arundel s Nostalgia
Brian Arundel, E.B White, and Nostalgia. Brian Arundel and E.B White express the idea that both
their writing styles convey similar emotions. The Things that I ve lost and Once more to the lake is
best described as nostalgia. They re both talking about their main past and is why they tell stories
about reminiscing. There are three main parts that help express this idea. The first aspect is that
Arundel stays with the nostalgia. The meaning of this is that he points out is his desires to return in his
thoughts or in his life. The second aspect is that White loses the element of nostalgia and his main
focus is on his son. The meaning of this is that he loses his nostalgia and focuses on his son and wants

Piper. Frances Piper is one of the four Piper girls, and she is different from the rest of them. From her
early childhood, Frances is a bold and naughty girl who is always getting herself into trouble. She has
a great mischievous streak which troubles her father, James Piper, immensely. James Piper himself has
a demon like personality at various times throughout the novel, some of which he collects from his
father in his early childhood. In a similar fashion to Frances s father s past, the reader can visualize
Frances getting accustomed to her father s personality and see her become a demon ... Show more

Frances starts to smoke, drink, and perform very cheap shows at the age of sixteen. She is prostituting
herself to older men, and it is horrible because of the manner she is performing her acts: Frances will
bounce in your lap with your fly buttoned for as long as it takes for two bucks . . . A hand job costs
two fifty she has a special glove she wears, left over from her first communion. (293) Using a
communion glove to perform vile acts is atrocious, because when that glove is used for a religious
service, not a vile act. This is an instance where the reader can start to imagine that Frances may be
representing the Devil because of her actions. Laura Robinson states that instead of labouring quietly
for little pay, doing charitable work, and having reverence for patriarchs, Frances performs loudly,
prostitutes herself, and demonstrates no respect for her father (Robinson 37). However, she also goes
on to say that France works to provide the funds for Lily s escape from home and the dangers of the
family (Robinson 37). MacDonald also mentions in the novel that Frances wants to start saving her
money for Lily, and is putting her money away in a secret place (293). She realizes that what she is
doing is for a good cause: to protect her younger sister Lily and to save enough money to send her
away when the time comes. At heart,

The Origin of Modern Humans
Throughout history, humans have asked many questions in regards to our own beginnings. Religion
and science have examined what makes us who we are, and have tried to answer the enduring question
of our own modern origins. Scientifically, theories are still debated as to when, where, and how
modern Homo sapiens came to be what they are today. There are two major theories that now
dominate the discussions of experts in the field of biological anthropology: the Out of Africa model
and the Multiregional model of evolution. Stringer and Andrews argue that genetic and
paleontological evidence supports a more recent Out of Africa model as opposed to a more drawn out
Multiregional method that also incorporates gene flow (1263). In contrast, ... Show more content on

Stringer and Andrews published an article in 1988 entitled Genetic and Fossil Evidence for the Origin
of Modern Humans. In this article, they claim that the multiregional method is based on the idea that
Homo erectus arose in Africa then traveled throughout the world (1263). It wasn t until later that
modern humans arose through a series of evolutionary grades (1263). This, Stringer and Andrews say
is false. Using modern genetic data, Stringer and Andrews argue that the structure of the multiregional
model is right in that it says distance allows for distinct derived traits to arise in separated populations,
but these populations weren t spread through Eurasia. Instead, these populations first were
geographically isolated in Africa allowing for unique character traits to develop there. Rather than
Homo erectus arising and then moving, Homo sapiens did this on their own. Genetic data used by
Stringer and Andrews was collected by comparing mtDNA (mitochondrian DNA) between various
populations (1264). The African populations had larger variation in their mtDNA, so this showed that
the mtDNA split much earlier for Africans than for other populations in Asia, Australia, New Guinea,
and Europe (1264). Other genetic evidence counteracts this proposal though. Genetic distances
calculated from blood groups, for example, suggest that there is a closer bond between caucasoids
(European groups) and negroids (African

Did The Big Bang Happen
Did the big bang really happen? Many people may disagree with me, but I still believe the Big Bang
really happened. The Universe had to start somehow, didn t it? Sure people always tell me that god
created the Universe and that my beliefs are incorrect. Yet, I recall the Bible saying that God created
the Heavens and Earth... not the Universe. So yes, I, Tatiana believe in the big bang and nobody can

The Universe was this tiny super atom, and between 12 and 20 million years ago it exploded, creating
as we know it today, the Big bang. It sent matter in every which way, and that was just the beginning
of the Universe. As it was forming, nearly all of the earth was made up of this huge cloud of hydrogen.

that the big bang actually happened.
Just like I said above, we need a reason that isn t religion based. In my lifetime (which hasn t been

Metaphors In The Invisible Man
In the book Invisible Man written by Ralph Ellison, he tells a story uses a series of metaphors to
describe life as a black teenager years ago.
During the late 1940 s through 1952, the Invisible Man tries valiantly to overcome the image society
has given him, but his efforts could never break from the grasp of the black society. This hold was
constructed and glued together by the white society during this novel. The stereotypes and
expectations of a racist society had blacks to behave only in savage and compelling ways, never
letting them to act in their own free will. Even the actions of black activists seeking equality are
manipulated and lied to. Throughout the novel the Invisible Man encounters this heart felt problems

that we are the inferior race. Most white would want America to go back to these times where the
black community was low and had no say and the parts of the white community have no problem

The Origins Of The Viking Age
One of the most interesting times in medieval history is the era known as the Viking Age. When these
fierce sea borne raiders rummaged and plundered European sea ports of their valuables and treasures.
These Scandinavian inhabitants were known to most of the world as a barbaric group, when in reality,
there style of attacking had more skill than the world had seen. They struck fear and intimidation into
their victims and made the whole European seaboard quake in angst for their arrival. Not only did they
want to inflict fear into Europe as well as raid them from their treasures, the Scandinavians were also
looking to expand their kind to other parts of Europe due to the lack of land in Scandinavia. One of the
first things most citizens of the world think of when you say Scandinavian is Vikings. However, this is
not 100% accurate. The term Viking was not a ethnicity or group of people, it was a job description. It
did not apply to women, children or slaves of the time, only the Scandinavian men. The Vikings were
not illiterate, however, they were also not able to write letters and letters of things they partook in.
They did something similar to other Germanic cultures and used a style of runic inscriptions. In the
Viking society, their law was fairly straight forward. They took into account the crime committed, but
also the worth of the victim before dealing out the punishment. Interestingly enough, however,
individual rank also played a factor in this decision. For

The tongue is the most powerful weapon a person can ever use because if you choose to use these

Analysis Of The Book The Demon
In another of Kawamoto s work, The Demon , the mother figure in the film undergoes a
transformation that impacts family negatively: old age. The Demon begins by presenting the mother
figure lying in bed, dying and unable to care for herself. Shortly after, we see her difficult life flash
before her eyes a life full of loneliness and sadness. The scene later switches to her sons going to hunt
for food. During their hunting trip, the sons notice something follows them and eventually realize it
was a demon. They immediately go home, only to watch their mother transform into said demon. The
mother s transformation into a demon signifies how motherhood during old age transforms women
into unwanted beings. Even though the sons love their mother, her frail condition hinders them, as she
cannot assist around their home in any way. To describe this situation, Rebecca Copeland, in her essay,
Mythical Bad Girls, compares a mother at old age to a womb that devours, she gives life and then
takes it back. This comparison exhibits negative views about mothers. First, it shows how society
views women solely as vessels for reproduction. Copeland s comparison of mothers to their
reproductive organs not only objectifies women, but it also suggests women have no other purpose
than reproducing. Second, Copeland s comparison implies that while a mother may bring life, she also
takes it away through her requiring care during old age. Due to a mother requiring care, she impedes

In kitchens across America, and every other country across the world there is the issue of fast molding

Medication Error And Its Adverse Effects On The Elderly
Medication Error and its adverse effects to the elderly Firehiwot Bealy University of Regina
Medication Error and Its Adverse Effects Older adults are at high risk for adverse effects of
medication error more than their counteract younger adults. This is because they depend on more than
one medication in order to treat or prevent disease, syndromes and sickness (Lindenberg, 2010). It is
inevitable that the elderly face adverse effects of drugs while on medication especially when they still
live independently. However, chances of errors in hospitals and care homes are more frequent when
the medication process connects several departments (Belen et. al., 2009). Therefore, tactical measures
are required in the provision of drug therapy in order to optimize safe medication in older adults. This
paper discusses the issue by analyzing the existing structure of administering medication, reviewing
the occurrence of medication errors; evaluating systems developed to advance safe medication
administration. Finally, addressing the implication for professional nursing practice. Administering

Friedrich Von Hayek Essay
John Maynard Keynes first reached success during 1919 (Marron). His theory for economic success
involved government use of fiscal policy. He believed that during times of downturn, the government
should spend money into new projects, public spending, tax cuts, and transfer payment; which would
lead to money once again circulating. But during times of success booms , the government should
spend less and concentrate on saving for the next crash. He also argued that aggregate demand was the
key to the business cycle. When aggregate demand was low the business cycle would crash, leading to
high unemployment.

This stanza explains Hayek s beliefs on less government involvement and more freedom to the people

giving money to people that aren t employed because they should be independent. This approach is
laissez faire because he wants people to do what they want by letting the market synchronize with the
people s demands without government intervening let prices work . Prices wont go berserk if their is
no Socialism. All socialism does is lead to sloppy performances if the government plans to steer the
economy. The article explains that the economy might be headed towards a downturn because the
economy growth rate has not increased. Corporations sales and profits are decreasing spending
leading to a drop in aggregate demand. Although employment is high personal savings have gone up

The first trial included using a feature search, which had all of the distractors in blue. But, then the

  • 2. Social Changes In The Industrial Revolution Society had many social and economic changes throughout the time of the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain during, 1750 to 1850. The Industrial Revolution is the time at which farming work changed into factory work and new methods were made. This switch really benefited Britain. There were many of each change in society, one of the economic changes could be selling stock, and all the new types of businesses formed . Also new transportation and the assembly line all are considered economic changes. A social change could be all the new advanced technology and urbanization. In this time period a big social change would involve all the new technology. Society could use these new advanced tools to communicate with others. One invention by Samuel Morse was telegraphs. These telegraphs improved communication by making it easier to send people messages, they were even in a secret code. Morse code was eventually named after Samuel Morse. Another change that happened in the beginning of the change from agriculture to industry is urbanization. This is when the people move from the rural areas to urban areas. The rural areas are on the countryside like farms, while urban areas are cities with factories. People left the rural places because there was no longer jobs for them since the agricultural revolution caused less farmers being needed, also the factories are taking over. The factories were located in the cities; many people moved here because the factory owners would need ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Events At The University Of Arkansas At Monticello Essay Throughout the last four weeks, I ve attended several events at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Some events were more organized than others, but each event had a different purpose and all of the events was executed well. While in high school I participated in many on and off school activities; in which taught me a valuable lesson that I later on used at the events on campus. The activities taught me good communications skills that I needed during the events. During the events I got the chance to use my communications skills that I learned by participating in activities in high school. I got the chance to interact with new people and experience new things that I never done before. Out of all the events I attended, I believed Rock the Clock was the most beneficial. Although I think Rock the Clock was the most beneficial; I attended three more events other than Rock the Clock. The other events were Cosmic Bowling, Freshman Orientation Day Two, and the Mud Olympics. Although Rock the Clock was the most beneficial. Cosmic Bowling was on August 22nd at 7:00pm. Timberlodge Lanes sponsored the event and did a splendid job hosting the event and publicizing the event. The event was publicized in brochures, letters, and flyers. On every wall I walked by; I would see something promoting the event. Constantly seeing a reminder of the event made me not forget about the event; and actually attend it. My roommate and I left around 7:45; once we got there it was packed. We actually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Playtime by Jacques Tati Shot Analysis PLAYTIME by Jacques Tati Shot from 03:12 04:48 / Airport waiting room __________________________________________________________________________ Jacques Tati s 1967 film, Playtime, captures a cascading series of events through the sterile architecture of Paris, in which few familiar characters inhabit. Tati s infamous alter ego, Monsieur Hulot, haphazardly occupies many scenes as he stumbles through Paris after trying to contact an American official. The film is confined to no genre, nor does it necessarily form a new one it simply exists in its own right as an exploration of societal function. Originally shot on 70mm, the film carries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The off centre position of the camera in relation to the furniture also allow for the chairs to act as depth cues and show the enormous length of the room. Everything in the frame is in focus, which in a cinema viewing is a lot to take in, especially considering the films aspect ratio of 1.85:1. However, the audiences eyes are cleverly guided around the frame by almost unnaturally loud sounds, some of which are accentuated in post production by Tati. The sounds against the floors create a reverbing echo, highlighting the absurd impracticality of the building. A man and a woman sit in the bottom left hand corner of the frame in what appears to be a waiting area. They are dressed identically in their monotonous grey colours, as if they are enslaved to the colours surrounding them. During the shot s beginning, the audience is drawn to the nuns and their rhythmic footsteps as they enter the frame. Then, through a combination of actor gestures and dialogue, this gaze shifts to the two characters anchored in the foreground of the image. The rattling of a table being wheeled out by a man in white into the frame moves our eyes, as well as the couples own attention, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Argument On Santa Clauses Santa Claus was well known as a kind man who had a long white bread, wore big red white clothes and carried children s gifts with his flying reindeers as a vehicle. Christians all around the world have had Santa traditions since the 1820 s, which is lying children to believe in Santa, hang a sock on the window, behave nicely and go to bed early so that Santa can come and give them presents (Sleepypanda 2013). Until December 2016, psychologists claimed that Santa myth could destroy children s trust to parents. All children will eventually find out they ve been consistently lied to for years, and this might make them wonder what other lies they ve been told, (Boyle McKay 2016) Based on my experience, when I was in elementary school, I remember the time that my English teacher asked us to write postcard, she said that she would send the most beautiful postcard in the class to Santa Clause, so we put high effort to create an outstanding postcard. They also asked us to behave nicely for all day because Santa would come to the room and gave good children a present. In that time, the reason I believed what they lied because I thought that teacher always teach student the true and right thing, so they must tell us the truth as well. But, as time goes ... • 7. A Simple User Interaction Is Never Simple A simple user interaction is never simple. A person responding to a product, service, or information tool is also influenced by his or her surroundings, branded content, and even other people woven into the experience. Religion and science have examined what makes us who we are, and have tried to answer the enduring question of our own modern origins. Scientifically, theories are still debated as to when, where, and how modern Homo sapiens came to be what they are today. There are two major theories that now dominate the discussions of experts in the field of biological anthropology: the Out of Africa model and the Multiregional model of evolution. In contrast, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stringer and Andrews published an article in 1988 entitled Genetic and Fossil Evidence for the Origin of Modern Humans. In this article, they claim that the multiregional method is based on the idea that Homo erectus arose in Africa then traveled throughout the world (1263). It wasn t until later that modern humans arose through a series of evolutionary grades (1263). This, Stringer and Andrews say is false. Using modern genetic data, Stringer and Andrews argue that the structure of the multiregional model is right in that it says distance allows for distinct derived traits to arise in separated populations, but these populations weren t spread through Eurasia. Instead, these populations first were geographically isolated in Africa allowing for unique character traits to develop there. Rather than Homo erectus arising and then moving, Homo sapiens did this on their own. Genetic data used by Stringer and Andrews was collected by comparing mtDNA (mitochondrian DNA) between various populations (1264). The African populations had larger variation in their mtDNA, so this showed that the mtDNA split much earlier for Africans than for other populations in Asia, Australia, New Guinea, and Europe (1264). • 26. Metaphors In The Invisible Man In the book Invisible Man written by Ralph Ellison, he tells a story uses a series of metaphors to describe life as a black teenager years ago. During the late 1940 s through 1952, the Invisible Man tries valiantly to overcome the image society has given him, but his efforts could never break from the grasp of the black society. This hold was constructed and glued together by the white society during this novel. The stereotypes and expectations of a racist society had blacks to behave only in savage and compelling ways, never letting them to act in their own free will. Even the actions of black activists seeking equality are manipulated and lied to. Throughout the novel the Invisible Man encounters this heart felt problems and although ... The book Invisible Man written by Ralph Ellison correlates to present time because people still believe that we are the inferior race. Most white would want America to go back to these times where the black community was low and had no say and the parts of the white community have no problem voicing that opinion out loud. People, especially parts of the black community are following that metaphor that was presented in the book about blindness because some follow politics blindly, not knowing their true intent for the community. • 27. The Origins Of The Viking Age One of the most interesting times in medieval history is the era known as the Viking Age. When these fierce sea borne raiders rummaged and plundered European sea ports of their valuables and treasures. These Scandinavian inhabitants were known to most of the world as a barbaric group, when in reality, there style of attacking had more skill than the world had seen. They struck fear and intimidation into their victims and made the whole European seaboard quake in angst for their arrival. Not only did they want to inflict fear into Europe as well as raid them from their treasures, the Scandinavians were also looking to expand their kind to other parts of Europe due to the lack of land in Scandinavia. One of the first things most citizens of the world think of when you say Scandinavian is Vikings. However, this is not 100% accurate. The term Viking was not a ethnicity or group of people, it was a job description. It did not apply to women, children or slaves of the time, only the Scandinavian men. The Vikings were not illiterate, however, they were also not able to write letters and letters of things they partook in. They did something similar to other Germanic cultures and used a style of runic inscriptions. In the Viking society, their law was fairly straight forward. They took into account the crime committed, but also the worth of the victim before dealing out the punishment. Interestingly enough, however, individual rank also played a factor in this decision. • 30. Analysis Of The Book The Demon In another of Kawamoto s work, The Demon , the mother figure in the film undergoes a transformation that impacts family negatively: old age. The Demon begins by presenting the mother figure lying in bed, dying and unable to care for herself. Shortly after, we see her difficult life flash before her eyes a life full of loneliness and sadness. The scene later switches to her sons going to hunt for food. During their hunting trip, the sons notice something follows them and eventually realize it was a demon. They immediately go home, only to watch their mother transform into said demon. The mother s transformation into a demon signifies how motherhood during old age transforms women into unwanted beings. Even though the sons love their mother, her frail condition hinders them, as she cannot assist around their home in any way. To describe this situation, Rebecca Copeland, in her essay, Mythical Bad Girls, compares a mother at old age to a womb that devours, she gives life and then takes it back. This comparison exhibits negative views about mothers. First, it shows how society views women solely as vessels for reproduction. Copeland s comparison of mothers to their reproductive organs not only objectifies women, but it also suggests women have no other purpose than reproducing. Second, Copeland s comparison implies that while a mother may bring life, she also takes it away through her requiring care during old age. Due to a mother requiring care, she impedes upon ... Medication Error And Its Adverse Effects On The Elderly Medication Error and its adverse effects to the elderly Firehiwot Bealy University of Regina Medication Error and Its Adverse Effects Older adults are at high risk for adverse effects of medication error more than their counteract younger adults. This is because they depend on more than one medication in order to treat or prevent disease, syndromes and sickness (Lindenberg, 2010). It is inevitable that the elderly face adverse effects of drugs while on medication especially when they still live independently. However, chances of errors in hospitals and care homes are more frequent when the medication process connects several departments (Belen et. al., 2009). He believed that during times of downturn, the government should spend money into new projects, public spending, tax cuts, and transfer payment; which would lead to money once again circulating. But during times of success booms , the government should spend less and concentrate on saving for the next crash. He also argued that aggregate demand was the key to the business cycle.
