Comparing The Civil Rights Movement And The Feminist Movement
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the United States encountered a variety of different mass social
movements that rediscovered the definition of America. Mostly, the different social movements
demonstrated a fight for equality and freedom, while others protested against government decisions.
Participants of these different social movements underwent a great deal of discrimination and
violence from fellow Americans to fight for their rights as American citizens. Two major social
movements during this time were the Civil Rights Movement and the Feminist Movement. Both of
these movements outlined a cry for freedom and a demand for equality amongst their different
groups. The Civil Rights Movement made a huge impact on the social status of African Americans,
therefore, it lead to the rise of other social movements to fight for their rights as well, such as the
Feminist Movement. The Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was the

Everybody witnessed how the Civil Rights Movement led to many successful legislation changes
for African Americans, therefore, other groups wanted to be heard as well. In both the NOW
document by Betty Friedan and Cesar Chavez s Letter from Delano, they mention the Civil Rights
Movement. It is fair to say that the Civil rights movement was an influence for many of the mass
social movement during this time in history. Betty Friedan wrote, There is no civil rights movement
to speak for women, as there has been for Negroes and other victims of discrimination. The National
Organization for Women must therefore begin to speak (Reader 177, p.298 299). She is essentially
saying that women have to create their own civil rights movement because there is not one that
involves discrimination of women. This further explains that the Feminist Movement stemmed
from the Civil Rights

Villain Or Scapegoat
Living in a world full of crime and violence, people begin to wonder what the cause of the
violence is and how it can then be prevented. Unfortunately, there is not a single root cause that
can be found when people attempt to decipher why children are deciding to bring guns to school
and murder their peers. Some may believe that it was influenced by being exposed to a hostile
family, violent films, or gory video games. Although sometimes this might be the case, a lot of the
time it is not as black and white, making this topic very difficult to analyze and understand. Both

Huesmann and Taylor then begin to define violence in its various forms and stages. This seemed
to be slightly redundant and useless information since it is obvious and is not specific to the topic
in question. The authors then begin to obtain the reader s attention as they begin to describe the
issue faced by the youth having unlimited access to violence on television. A study done on
children is then mentioned, where half of the group watches a violent movie and the other half a
non violent movie. The two groups of kids are then combined for a hockey game where levels of
aggressive behavior are observed and compared. As expected, the research indicated that the kids
who watched the violent movie demonstrated more violent behavior.
The authors continue to point out the various influences that media violence is affecting the youth
and studies that back up their arguments. Huesmann and Taylor then shift to another source of
violent influence, videogames. The various ratings categories of video games, Everyone, Teen, and
Mature, are mentioned and the fact that all three of them allow some sort of violence. It is
mentioned that the Teen category consists of roughly 94% violent games which is astonishing.
This turns out to become a major issue because of the amount of time that teenagers spend playing
video games. The authors then mention studies that show that teenagers who play violent video
games demonstrated

Phillis Wheatley Poem
As I was reading Phillis Wheatley poem, I found it very interesting on how she discovered she
was a Christian. As we discussed in class, she knew she was a Christian, but at the same time she
had a mind of her own. From my understanding, our ancestors came to America as Christians
already, so my question is why our ancestors were treated like animals? If we are Christians, we
should be treated equally, right? Phillis Wheatleypoem enlightened me about slavery and religion.
As I was reading and trying to break down the poem into my vision, I noticed she was letting
slaves know that it s okay to be saved in her first few lines in the poem. In Wheatley s poem, she
stated, Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain, meaning white people think

Quantitative Research Papers
The methods of this research article is strong because of the data analysis used. However, this
was a short section in the paper. It only included three paragraphs, which is not nearly enough to
cover all of the content of an eight page paper. Although it was short, this article was convincing
of the data provided (Batista et al., 2017). Protection of participants rights. In order to protect the
rights of the participants, the study did a decent job in attaining consent. The participants were to

these women were connected would make the study more reliable. Data collection. Data was
retrieved through a partially structured interview. These interviews were conducted at their home
with an interview script (Batista et al., 2017). This data collection was appropriate, due to the
need to interview each person individually. The researcher did not show the specific questions
they had asked. The data indicated that the interviews were recorded and transcribed in full, but
did not specify what kind of transcription. This should have been either recorded by voice or
through a written paper transcription. Procedures. The data was analyzed through a content
analysis technique using the Bardin method (Batista et al., 2017). This was not described by the
researcher in detail. The Bardin method could have been explained through its procedures. There
were two categories of analysis were defined: Category one: Experiencing the diagnosis of breast

the face of mastectomy. In addition, more information regarding how the information collected was

Les Brooks De Bois De Dieu
Les Bouts de bois de Dieu by Ousmane SembГЁne is a 1960 novel. Published in the same year as
the independence of eight African countries, the novel details the events of the 1947 1948 railroad
strike on the Dakar Niger railway. Based on the historical events of the 1947 and 1952 strikes in
Senegal, SembГЁne portrays the collective power of the workers in overcoming the inequalities of
the black community in French colonial Africa at this time. SembГЁne s use of literary techniques
throughout Les Bouts de bois de Dieu is fundamental to his portrayal of liberation struggles. The

In the first chapter we are introduced to Niakoro and her granddaughter Ad jibid ji. Niakoro is an
elderly woman, trГЁs ГўgГ©e and through the lengthy and unfavourable description SembГЁne
gives of her, we are presented with a rundown figure who is out of touch with the world,
somewhat isolated from the younger women in her community.8 Conversely, SembГЁne s
representation of Ad jibid ji is more sympathetic.9 In using three successive adjectives when
describing her, sa maturitГ©, sa spontanГ©itГ©, sa luciditГ© , SembГЁne quickens the pace
presenting her as an exciting and animated character.10 In SembГЁne s sympathetic portrayal of
Ad jibid ji especially in contrast with that of Niakoro, we see that he favours the child and a new
generation of forward thinkers. Ad jibid ji represents an ideology of modernity and evolution
that SembГЁne sees as fundamental in the success of the liberation struggles of the workers.11
Additionally the relationship between these two characters is also favourable to the idea that
Ad jibid ji is a prototype for the women of the future. The two struggle to agree with each other
on matters regarding the role of women in society, especially regarding the strike. Ad jibid ji is

woman, a mother. Une bonne mГЁre n en a que faire .13 We thus see a generational divide that
establishes a negative mentality towards the strike and has the potential to hold back progress.
However, due to her advanced age Niakoro poses no threat to the liberation struggles.14 Similarly,
Ad jibid ji s curiosity ensures that her Grandmother could not change her outlook on society. She is

Persuasive Essay On Why Dogs Are Great Pets
Puppy Love
Imagine walking in the door after a long day; your furry loving puppy is sprinting towards you so
excited to see you after missing you all day. Your puppy is ready to grab your attention and distract
you from the terrible day you ve had, comforting you in the process. Dogs are great pets because of
their comforting nature, playfulness and protective tendencies.
Puppy snuggles and dog kisses are comforting when life is stressful. Dogs are loving to the
families they live with and are very compassionate creatures. Puppies and dogs are good at
cheering you up when you are down. Dogs are also super loyal to their owners so they want to do
anything they can to make you feel better on a rough day. Not only are dogs comforting once you

Dogs are a lot like little kids begging for your attention except they want you to play tug of war
or throw a tennis ball. While some people may say dogs are too time consuming and need too
much attention it is very easy to find a dog breed that is more laidback or to play with you
energetic dog by throwing a ball from the couch. The great thing about dogs is there is a dog out
there for everyone and there are ways to fulfill the playtime your dog need without ever having
to get up yourself if you are too tired or just aren t in the mood. In contrast, getting up and
playing with a dog is not just fun for the dog it is also fun for the owner. Playing with your dog is
not just fun, but can be good exercise. Running back and forth with a puppy or dog can be tiring
but is also tons of fun. Additionally, having your excited dog by your side is much more
motivating to keep running and playing than a treadmill constantly alerting you of how long it has
been and how far you have left to go. All the fun times and enthusiasm a puppy or dog provides
while playing is another reason dogs are great

Deakin took over as Prime Minister, leading a Protectionist government, on 24 September 1903
when Barton quit politics to become a judge of the newly instituted High Court. Deakin retained
government at the second general election on 16 December 1903 but had to rely on Labor support.
He held power for another four months, until 27 April 1904, when his government was defeated in
parliament over a Labor amendment to the Conciliation and Arbitration Bill. Deakin resigned the
prime ministership, which then went to Labor s leader, John Christian Watson. Deakin became

Bully In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
In 2015, about one out of every four students (22%) reported being bullied during the school
year. Tangerine is a book written by Edward Bloor. The story is about Paul Fisher, the
protagonist, who got blinded by his brother Erik, the antagonist, this all occurred when Paul was
in kindergarten and his brother was in fifth grade. Paul s life is a lie and he finally realizes that
his parents have been keeping this secret from him ever since so that he would not hate his
brother, but because of this secret Paul lived his life hating himself for thinking he was stupid
when it was not his fault. Erik Fisher is a grievous character because he is selfish, violent, and
finally because he is a bully. Erik is selfish because, he wants to be the center of everything, like
football. He also just cares about himself and not others, he showed this when Mike Costello died
and he said Did you see his hair? Did you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the thought of punching Tino was violent, but when he actually punched him it proved his
violence. Another act of violence is when he tells Arthur to kill Luis. When Erik says You re

s also a bully. Erik is a bully in multiple ways. One example is when he makes a joke about Joey
and says I wonder if he got his money back for those shoes. Joey had no idea what he meant but
Paul did. He s also a bully to his friends by acting all good then having his friends do all the work,
then get in trouble. It s still hard to believe that he s a bully to his brother too, he bullies him by
teaming up against him with his friends then hurting him, like when Erik and Castor blinded him
with the spray paint. Selfishness, violence, and bullying, are all reasons why Erik is an atrocious
character. If you follow Erik s path you will be in great jeopardy, but if you stay on the good side
and tell the truth you future will be prospering, which path will you

Knight s Role In Warfare During The Middle Ages
A knight s role and the impact heavy cavalry had on warfare have greatly varied throughout the
period of the Middle Ages. Although knight s dominated the battlefield and had a huge cultural
value in society you cannot ignore the impact that technology has had on their role. These
technological advances such as the longbow, the introduction of light cavalry and developments
such as gunpowder and artillery, the tactical developments such as sieges and the general
organisation surrounding warfare resulted in knights declining in social value, status and
affectability as well as a more dramatic yet gradual metamorphosis into the heavily armoured tank
divisions in today s modern armies.
It has always been a greatly contested debate as to when the Middle ... Show more content on

This is demonstrated mainly by the speed and manoeuvrability riding on horseback provided.
Speed could be converted into shock as the enemy if unaware of a knight s potential power ground
could be covered quickly before the enemy had a chance to provide a defence mechanism and
would have no option to surrender. This however was only evident in the early Middle Ages,
showing that heavy cavalry would not be the most dominant force throughout the entirety of the
Middle Ages. However this speed and manoeuvrability did not always result in the knight being the
dominant figure. The knight may have been dominant in the West where the terrain was favourable
and the heat moderate but when traveling to Jerusalem for the crusades they were less well suited
to endurance in a hot climate and clumsy and unmanoeuvrable making them ineffective and
vulnerable to the enemy. This shows how even though they may dominant warfare in Western
Europe they were too heavy to cover ground effectively and not as moveable as the lighter eastern
cavalry, which weighed approximately 700 to 900lbs to the Western 1,200 to

Persuasive Essay On Illegal Immigration
The topic of illegal immigration and how best to handle it has always been a controversial topic
in the U.S. The Trump administration is trying to address it by building a wall all the way along
the border of U.S. and Mexico. Trump has always wanted to build a wall between the U.S. and
Mexico because he sais that it is needed and will stop illegal immigrationinto the U.S. However the
U.S. Mexicoborder wall that Trump is proposing will not only be ineffective but will also be a
huge waste of money and an act of ignorance to the real issues and solutions. One obvious reason
for why a border wall is a bad idea is that it will be insanely expensive for numerous reasons.
Trump makes it sound like building a border wall will be as easy as saying we are going to do it
and then poof, it will be magically done, but that is not the case. Current estimates of the U.S.
Mexico border wall are that it will cost up to $66.9 billion in taxpayer money which is easier
said than done (Nazario). Not to mention the immense cost of hiring people to patrol the wall. In
the end the border wall will cost Americans billions of dollars that they don t have and waste it on
something that amounts to nothing more than America flexing its muscles. People also seem to
think that the government is allowed to just build a wall along the border but this is not true. To
begin with most of the border is not even owned by the federal government, more than 2/3rds is

Establishing the difference between the story and the plot allows one to determine the effect each
element has on the understanding and interpretation of the piece. It also provides a way of tracking
the continuation of events and the relationship between seemingly isolated moments in time. Film
Art clearly defines both story and plot but acknowledges that there is a significant overlap between
the two functions and allows a flow within the film. The plot is the presentation of the events, in

The opening scene introduces us to the person we later learn is John Scottie Ferguson, something
that does not play out until much later in the film relates to the demonstration of the debilitating
extent of Johns inability to act in the face of heights, once with the police officer and then with his
love whom he cant stop because of his fear. The opening scene builds on the credits by creating the
expectation of suspense and thrill and mystery shrouding the true identity and relation of characters
and setting up the disposableness of characters in the film, this adds to the complexity of Madeline
s disease as the audience cant tell whether, or more when, she will die.
The rooftop chase creates an expectation of dark drama, which moves into the scene with Midge in
a light filled room where Scottie appears to be in control of his fear and the relationship between
the two characters is established, whilst not technically part of the opening scene it instantly makes
the viewer question whether their interpretation of the initial segment of the film was correct,
already one is questioning their ability to pick the direction of the film.

White Privilege In Society
White privilege as defined by McIntosh (1990) is a phenomenon that is similarly denied and
protected by those who have it (p. 31). This means that those who encompass whiteness; those with
white skin, are subject to privilege not shared by others with skin that is not white. But, this
privilege is not something clearly seen by those who enjoy it. On the contrary, McIntosh (1990)
points out that, those who have white skin have been carefully taught not to recognize white
privilege (p. 31). By refusing to acknowledge, and clinging to the advantaged state they possess,
people with white privilege are perpetuating the disadvantaged state others without said privilege
experience. Privilege in this context is not a preferred or ideal state... Show more content on

31). Gender identity can be one of those hierarchies. Those who conform to society s gender
norms are afforded many privileges, at the expense of those whose identities do not coincide
with societal expectations. The genders of women and men are present in every facet in our
lives, from the private sphere, to the public one. Whether one goes shopping for clothing or
cosmetics, whether one fills out a survey from the privacy of their home, the divide between
men and women is plainly clear, two sections, two boxes to tick. For people with characteristics
that correspond to the man and woman binary, the notion that a men and women s section in a
pharmacy will sound foreign and irrelevant, or alternatively, commonsensical, for all they would
need to do is go to the section they have been conditioned to, to the one that is theirs by extension
of their gender. But, for someone that does not conform to the stereotypical perception of what
being a man or woman entails, the issue is a real one. Wilchins (2004) recounts a day spent
shopping for clothing, going between searching for men s socks and women s lingerie: Every
salesperson, every department, fumbled for pronouns. All of them were unsure how to treat me (p.

Different animals have different grouping names and to most people it seems like just a random
selection of how the group name was formed. When ravens group together it is called an

means high or inordinate opinion of one s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority and
ambush means an act or instance of lying concealed so as to attack by surprise. Despite these two
groups of animals being very similar, they have different animalgrouping names with very different

comprised of five or more lions. The female lions in the pride do most of the hunting for the group

these animals were perceived as prideful in the way that they hunt. An animal that have hooves and

The Detrimental Effects of Soda
What is your favorite soda? Coke? Do you know what is in soda? Cutting down on soda can lead to

effects that outweigh the positive effects. Soda, especially diet, is detrimental to the health of your

My cousin s teacher did an experiment with coke. She put a tooth in coke and left it for at least a

A lot of sugary foods, from fruit juices to candy and even raisins and other dried fruit, have what

A federally funded study of nearly 3,200 Americans 9 to 29 years old conducted between 1971

gondii, felines are the only animals that pass the infection through their feces (Elmore et al., 2010).
Thus, while humans can become infected with toxoplasmosis in numerous ways, one potential
method is through the ingestion of catfeces. Regarding pregnancy, this infection can have
devastating effects on a fetus, particularly in the early stages of pregnancy (Dunn et al., 1999).

Per the CDC, a pregnant woman does not have to get rid of her cat to prevent infection
(Toxoplasmosis Frequently Asked Questions FAQs, 2013). However, it is necessary to take
precautions to minimize the risk of exposure and potential infection. Safety precautions include
keeping a clean litter box by changing it daily. More importantly, if pregnant, it is best to avoid
cleaning the litter box at all. If no one else is available to do so, the CDC recommends wearing
disposable gloves and proper hand washing immediately after. Another important step is to
prevent cats from becoming infected by keeping them indoors; avoiding stray cats, kittens, and
new cats; and not feeding pet cats raw or undercooked meat. Additionally, if a cat is infected with
toxoplasmosis, it can only spread the infection for a few weeks after being infected by the
parasite, after which the shedding into the feces will subside on its own. Therefore, it is not
necessary to have a cat tested or treated for toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasmosis Frequently Asked

The Affordable Care Act Website
There were multiple technical problems with the Affordable Care Act website (known as
Healthcare.gov). In order for people to purchase their health insurance, and understand pertinent
health insurance policies, the website needs enhancements. Most recently, since November 2014,
changes have been made to the Healthcare.gov website in order to stem other challenges. For
instance, there is less information that new users will have to enter to register for health insurance
(Ydstie, 2014). Initially, issues challenges that slowed the Healthcare.gov website had included
bandwidth issues, synchronization issues, support issues, application issues, support issues,
requirements definition issues, support issues and security issues.

According to research, there were fifty five contractors used to implement the website, perhaps
causing development crosstalk problems, in itself (Fountain, 2013). The website was also not set
up for customers who wanted to browse prices. If clients did not want to buy a policy, the y had a
difficult time weighing their options. This may have caused some of these clients to not purchase
the government health insurance that was offered.
The worst issue is that many health care providers reported that they received duplicate
applications and many unfinished applications. This is a problem on the Affordable Care Act
website side as well as the end user. These setbacks are causing issues for the user as well as the
insurance company.
Also, the supportability of the Healthcare website was not user friendly when it was launched.
Instead of seamless application completion and few complaints, there were too many glitches for
the website to run properly. The user interface(UI) was not very useable. Many early users are still
reporting similar issues with the site to this day.
In addition, many requirements definitions could have been fixed, pre launch. Firstly, developers
need to work on the accessibility of the website. In the earliest stages of the website creation, they
should have made sure that the UI was input properly and people with hearing, vision, and learning

Fashion Promotion in 5 Years Essay
What is the role of fashion promotion within the fashion industry, and how will it develop over the
next 5 years?
Fashion promotion is the glue that holds together everything fashion related. It s all very well
having a great designer who can create stunning garments out of fabulous materials, but fashion
promotion is what advertises those garments, and sells them, and puts them out there for the world
to see. If there weren t photographers and buyers and journalists and stylists (who are all a part
fashion promotion) we wouldn t have ever seen a catwalk show, or brought a Fendi bag, or picked
up a copy of VOGUE. If it wasn t for fashion promotion we could all be walking down the street in

Along with the various
different lighting effects Huene also invented his own lightening devices in order to create
geometric shapes and patterns with shadows. His aim was to create the best possible lighting to
represent the fashion garments on his models. Huene s photographs were dominated by illustration
and were greatly influenced by sculpture. As we can see in figure 3 there is no movement; models
were poised, almost static. In a general sense, Huene s style was the quint essence of early Thirties
functional elegance (Ewing 1986:99)

Analysis Of Down These Mean Streets
Down These Mean Streets
Down These Mean Streets is novel written by Piri Thomas, he writes about his life as a child
growing up in New York during the 1930s. However, since his parents were Puerto Rican
immigrants he was doing very well in his new environment. He couldn t make any friends, since
the other kids made fun of him because of his race and his family didn t have a lot of money
since his parents were unable to find a job. He wrote this story as an autobiography to let all of the
readers know what he had to go through during his childhood.
Even though his parents were from Puerto Rico, Piri himself was born in the United States when his
parents moved there. He was born on September 20th, 1928 in East Harlem of New York City.
When he was growing up, his family lived in section of the city called Spanish Harlem where most
spanish speaking immigrants also lived. However, as he grew up there, he would eventually
realize that life was not very easy for people like him.
Spanish Harlem is a neighborhood in Upper Manhattan, despite its name, it is not actually a part of
Harlem. It is known as one of the largest Latino communities in New York, the residents there are
mostly Puerto Ricans but there are also people from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and even
Mexico. Interestingly, the neighborhood was originally made up of Italians, but they pretty much
declined when the Spanish immigrated to America after the events of the First World War. Even

Controversies In Youth Sports
The Controversies in Youth Travel Teams Participation in youth sports in the United States is on
the rise. Organized youth sports are highly popular for youth and their families, with approximately
45 million children and adolescent participants in the US (Merkel, 2013). There are many benefits
for children that can be attributed to sports such as: physical activity, learning motor skills, sense of
belonging, stress relief, and many more. With childhoodobesity on the rise recreational sports has
never been needed more than it is today. Over the past three decades, the incidence of obesity in
children has tripled, with one of every three children being affected (Merkel, 2013). Obesity has
many long term health problems related to it such as: diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure
cancer, asthma. We can attribute this health problem to changes in our society over like increased
technology, increased crime rates, fast food and isolated suburban neighborhoods. Sports and other
physical activities are needed to keep children from causing further damaged to their future.
However, the days of simply playing ball with your friends are over. It is a different world for
young athletes. Sports at a young age should be fun and a great source of physical activity. Yet,
many children are specializing in one sport early playing year round, joining competitive clubs, or

To decide which product, either Bugabyte or Bugabyte Lite, is the best candidate,
Metrovox has to identify its core competencies and to outsource non core activities. I personally
think Grunwald and Vogel will recommend Bugabyte Lite for assembly outsourcing while
Bugabyte to be kept assembling in house and not to pass out to others to perform.

Classical Music Racism
The feeling of sitting down in a dark movie theater with a bucket of buttered popcorn and your
favorite drink is a common experience for most Americans. The lights dim down and the theater is
filled with music; whether it s intense battle music, sweet soft ballets, or a somber melody, the
music sets the mood. What most people don t know is that just over four percent of the musicians
in American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a statistic that hasn t gone through much
change in the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical musicis so racist. The four main
issues with racism in the classical musicindustry today are the low percent of minority s in the
United States and Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities in inner city schools, low
advertisement of classical music to minority s, and an unjust audition and commissioning process.
In the United States, there are 117 symphonyorchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras
are made up of black or Latino musicians(WQXR). The first issue of racism in classical music are
the remarkably low percentages of minorities in classical music and the uncomfort that minorities
face in classical music culture. This percentage isn t just low in the US, in Britain only five
percent of minorities make up professional orchestras (mediadiversified). When you think of the
music industry as a whole, it looks extremely diverse especially in pop music, since the industry is
so diverse its easy for diverse

My Christmas Day
My 11th Christmas
It was December 25th the day I become part Methodist, the day in which people believe god s son

It was also the day in which we received presents from our relatives and that s why I was so
excited. This day was so special to my relatives, that they even made all three meals for us. Hey,
the kids are here, my grandma said with some enthusiasm as she walked to the door. They had the
football on the TV and it looked as if they were already started the party. We only come to this
house for this type of occasion.
Hello, my dad replied slightly raising his hand and smiling as if my grandma made this joke.
Come on in, my grandfather said in the background as he slowly made his way to the door. We
walked in and I don t know if this was a really special occasion or not because I saw a ton of
presents laying under the Christmas tree more than any year before. However, even with all those
presents under the tree it couldn t stop me from finding a huge rectangular box near the door. I
wasn t able to picture what might be in the box before my uncle hugged me. This wasn t your

Unions And Collective Bargaining Rights
Union and collective bargaining rights are important for improvement as well as maintaining labor
conditions and employment relations and are most certainly essential in international labor. Unions
and collective bargaining rights are designed to promote and ensure our human rights are protected.
This certainly doesn t mean there aren t flaws in the system, however, the intention of unions and
collective bargaining is to safeguard workers, employers as well as the government to make it
harmonious.
Since the National Labor Relations Act was passed in 1935, unions have been in existence. The

Although, neither side is required to make a particular concession, a party that refuses to bend on

Relations Act forbids employers from interfering with, restraining, or coercing employees in the

Critique Of American Capitalism And Capitalism
Capitalism is not a rigid, inflexible economic and political system there are many forms of
capitalism around the world. It is illustrated as being different variations of capitalism outside the
United States; there is the Dutch version, the French version, the British version, as well as the
American version. American capitalismimplements free market ideology and that makes the U.S.
stand out among other nations. Other nations do not dwell on privatization and deregulation nearly
as much as the U.S., which is both a major strength and critique of American capitalism. One
critique of American capitalism is the Five Internal Contradiction of Capitalism. These
contradictions include inevitable growth of monopolies, demand labor saving technology and
policies, issues of over and under production, increases in economic inequality, and convergence of
economic and political power. This economic system creates detrimental social issues among the
population. With economic policy being in the best interest of big corporations, the wealth
accumulates and stays at the top. The bottom income group suffers the most as there is less wealth
available for them and they are forced to endure strive and pain just to survive another day. In the
example of The Myth of the WelfareQueen, two Philadelphia welfare mothers reveal to the world
their personal hardships and the extent to which they will go to support their families. The

My life was stereotypical. A mom, a dad, a brother, and a dog. A nuclear family was what it was.

animals were pets and they had their own little families. Where I spent hours finding creepy

that fencewas only an illusion. Like many other families, that white fence kept in more than just the

illusion of unity within our family.
Tears streamed down my red stained face. Wetting my cheeks then falling off the peak of my
chin onto the collar of my favorite pajamas. The small drops created translucent circles on the

My small mind trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle but only ending up with a picture

each shaken breath. My eye became foggy from the next wave of tears. The constant thumping in
my head proceeded. Thump. Thump. Thump. I wish it would stop. I wish my tears would stop.
Just everything needs to stop. Stop. From the eyes of another parent my display of sadness may

Unfortunately, the current administration would like us to think that global warming not only isn t

Pros And Cons Of Offshore Drilling
In today s world, oil plays a very important role in our everyday lives. It is used daily for various
things which includes: transportation, electricity, heat etc. Most of the oils we use either came
from underground drilling or came from other countries. But because of the decrease of supply
in oil, people started to look for alternative ways to find oil. Offshore drilling became the new
way of oil drilling. It is an oil extraction technique that extracts oil from the sea bed. There are
both pros and cons to offshore drilling. In my opinion, the cons outweighs the pros. One of the
most obvious pro of offshore drilling is that it greatly increases the amount of oil we use for fuel
and energy, which in terms helps out our economy. It also allows us to not rely on other
countries to supply the oil. This can help us reduce the oil price because if the oil is produced in
our own country, other countries don t have a say on the oil price. Another pro of offshore drilling
is that it creates more job opportunities for people. Many skilled people are needed to operate the
equipment, which opens up doors for new workers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Women In The Odyssey And Lysistrata
Since the beginning of time, women have always been looked down upon mentally. During the
time period of The Odyssey and Lysistrata, women were known as less powerful gender. They
have never had much say about what goes on around them. Some women were recognized as a
sex symbol. In The Odyssey, some women were goddesses that just wanted sex and other women
had to stay at home to help raise their kids and do all of the feminine work. Compared to The
Odyssey, in Lysistrata, women denied sex against their men to get what they want. In addition,
they did not have many political rights and a say so on what goes on in their country. In
comparing both of these stories, women show similarities toward each other. In The Odyssey it
shows that all the women are uniquely different by their relationships, desire, and personality
towards men. In addition, all the women help represent the typical role of a woman. Their role is
very critical in the ongoing adventure in this epic poem. Homer represents women as strong roles
and real life characters such as them being strong, tough, and diligent. In the story there are three
major types of women, which are the goddess, the good hostess/wife, and seducers. With each one
of these female characters they are a vital importance and add a different type of factor to the story.

Brief Summary
Case Name: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Petitioner v. Abercrombie Fitch Stores,
Inc., No. 14 86 (2015)
Factual History: Ms. Samantha Elauf is a woman who is a practicing Muslim applied for a job
at Abercrombie Fitch Co., which is a national chain of clothing stores. Elauf was interviewed by
the store s assistant manager Heather Cooke, and her interview so went well that it appeared to
Elauf that she was going to get the job. Heather Cooke, the store manager who interviewed
Samantha liked her and recommended that she be hired. Cooke gave Elauf a rating, which
qualified her to be hired, however, she was concerned that her headscarf would conflict with
Abercrombie s employee dress policy. The headscarf that she wore according to her religious
obligations conflicted with the store s look policy . Cooke turned to Randall Johnson, the district
manager, and informed Johnson that she believed Elauf wore her headscarf because of her faith.
She wanted to determine whether or not the headscarf was in violation of this policy. Randall
Johnson informed Cooke that Elauf s wearing headscarf would violate the look policy , and
therefore that Elauf should not be hired. As a result, Elauf didn t get hired by Abercrombie Fitch Co.
Procedural History: The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) sued Abercrombie
on the behalf of Elauf, claiming that Abercrombie s

The For Good Quality Cement
The clinker coming out of the kiln is at temperatures of around 1400oC. For good quality cement,
this temperature has to be brought down to around 200oC in a limited period of time. Thus it is
brought in contact with a cross circulation heat exchanging cooler.
The heat of the incoming clinker is recuperated in the secondary air at an efficiency which usually
lies within 65% to 70
The clinker cooler has the following main functions:
1.Recuperate the clinker heat by heating up the combustion air (secondary and tertiary air)
2.Maintain a minimum cooling velocity in order to avoid unfavorable mineralogical clinker phases
and crystal size
3.Facilitate clinker handling and storage.
Three groups of coolers can be defined according to their working principle:
A.On a grate cooler the clinker forms a bed which is transported along the grate by different
mechanisms. The cooling air is blown from below the grate by fans and passes through the
clinker bed in cross current. Only a Dart of this air can be used as combustion air, the rest of it has
to be dedusted and wasted, unless it can be used for another purpose (e.g. raw material or coal
drying, fuel oil preheating, heating of buildings, warm water preparation, etc.).
B.The operating principle of a tube cooler is quite similar to the one of a rotary kiln: the material
and the cooling air are led in counter current through one or more slightly inclined rotating tubes.
Special lifters are installed which increase the active heat

Impactful Images

College Prep English 28 April 2017
Impactful Images A picture is worth a thousand words is a famous English idiom that many of us
have heard at least once in our lives. It s the reason picture books work so well, where there would
normally be pages of words describing a setting there is now simply an image or photograph
showing you in greater detail than what could have been described on one page with the use of
words. When you really think about it and put it into perspective the potential that a single image
can hold is incredible. The power to invoke countless emotions, raise a plethora of questions, or
even house answers to unsolved mysteries is something that is all too often overlooked, simply
because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are able to capture a memory forever with just a click of a button, we can ask questions and
answer them just with pictures, we can even say a thousand words. I have learned people take
photographs for granted, and we need to appreciate them more, because they have meaning just
like any other piece of artwork. One can create so many memories with one simple picture.
Cameras, paintings and photos have changed the world and make people see things in a new light.
I will always believe there are impactful images all around us, we just need to let them impact us

Lincoln And Darwin Analysis
Gopnik s primary message in this essay is what Lincoln and Darwin have in common with us
today. Modern society is based on scientific reasoning and democratic politics.
Darwin was born in a comfortable family home, nicely named Monte, that still stands in the leafy
English countryside of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. It was the fifth of the six children, born into
comfort but to a family that was far from safe with a long history of free thinking and radical
beliefs. Lincoln was born in a hut of nameless, long lost cabin in the Kentucky woods. He was the
second of three, born to a poor farmer, Thomas Lincoln.
They were family men, loved their wives and lived for their children. Darwin was rich but he still
wanted his children to be involved in

Deborah Zlotsky Rembrandt Analysis
Deborah Zlotsky is known for her excellence in the artistic world. Her remarkable work of art and
style has officially encouraged viewers to associate her style of artwork and compare its similarities
to past artists such as the Dutch painter, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn and the Italian Baroque
painter, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Beginning with the similarities Zlotsky shares with
Rembrandt. Both paintings share a theme of performing some sort surgery in a way for the
practice of medicine. As you see in Zlotskys art work Promissory Note, the rabbit is being hanged
from its back legs while dripping blood due to some sort of incision for a pregnancy test.
Rembrandt can relate with the theme because of his most famous art piece Dr.... Show more content

For example, the rabbit in Promissory Note. While brightening the lighting on only the rabbit and
the hand holding the litmus paper, Zlotsky dimmed everything else out in the background, which is
also an example of chiaroscuro. One last similarity between Zlotsky and Rembrandt is that in both
paintings, there is a sacrifice happening in some way. Obviously for Zlotsky it s the rabbit, but with
Rembrandts painting, the cadaver on the table was an executed thief named Adriaen, whose body
was sacrificed for the medicine field. Now, the similarities between Zlotsky and Caravaggio.
These two artist share similar characteristics such as using the effect of chiaroscuro, but they
both also have an example of trompe l oeil. Trompe l oeil is a technique that artist use to display
a visual illusion in art by making it three diemensional. Notice how both the sword and blood in
Caravaggios work, Judith Beheading Holofernes, seems to be well detailed and projecting
outwards and in Promissory Note, both the rabbit and the hand holding the litmus note are also well
defined and given that three diemensional look that gives the visual illusion of coming out of the

The Importance Of A Good Political Leader
Activity 1 Building Background In my opinion I think that a good political leader should be
honest with the people he works with and the people he represents. Another characteristic that a
good political leader should have is empathy, he must understand the problems and feeling of the
people who he is representing. He should have a vision of what he wants to do during his term
as a political leader and have an organized plan of how to accomplish their vision . 2. On the
other hand a poor political leader would show selfishness by thinking of himself and his political
career before the people he is representing. He would show poor judgment skills by the people he
trusts and would not be able to communicate effectively... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

trend in consumer behavior. Amazon One Click, the technology behind Amazon s simple one click

by using cookies to identify returning online shoppers, allowing shoppers to bypass the online

Surcharge Essay
The process is done by simply placing a surcharge fill on top of the soil that requires
consolidation. The excess load is referred to as surcharge load. The load must be placed in several
stages so as to prevent instability. Once the predicted consolidation is achieved, the fill can be
removed and construction can be started. Surcharge which was installed as a temporary load, can
be removed when the settlements exceed the foretold final settlement. Normally this is done only
after the remaining excess pore water pressurebecomes less than the stress increase caused by the
temporary surcharge. If the surcharge is higher than the work load, the soil will always be in an
over consolidated state.
The secondary compression for over consolidated soil is much smaller than that of normally
consolidated soil. The secondary settlement can be reduced or even eliminated either by increasing
the time of temporary overloading or by using a heavier overload.
Advantages of preloading:
Equipment cost is less since only conventional earthmoving equipment is needed.
Any contractor can perform the work, as specialized knowledge in not required.
Consolidation can be accelerated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally this technique requires the application of a surcharge loading to squeeze water out of
the soft clay soils. Such loading must be equal to or in excess of the service loading to which the
developed land will be subjected. In vacuum consolidation, the vacuum pressure applied
contributes to the surcharge loading, an actual surcharge heights are reduced. An additional
important advantage of the vacuum is the isotropic nature of the vacuum pressure and the
correlated improvement of the stability under preloading, reducing considerably the risk of slope
failure resulting from the

The Mindsets Can Cope With The Failure Of The Difference Way
The mindsets can cope with the failure in the difference way.
Have you ever been fail in your life? How do you face with that failure? And what did you say with
yourself in that moment? This question help you determine what is your mindset. So what is
mindset? It is a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determined how you will interpret and
respond to situations. According to Carol Dweck s mindset book, people in the world was divided
into two mindsets: the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Fixed mindset which is people think
that the intelligent, smart, high potential of learning is the natural ability. It has already in their

According to Carol Dweck s, the failure doesn t defined the growth mindset but it does with the
fixed mindset. With the growth mindset, the failure never define you it just the matter of how you
faced with, learn experience, and keep your mind moving forward. Taking an example of the
famous former American basketball, Micheal Jordan who was known led the Chicago Bull to six
NBA championships and won the most Valuable Player Award five times. He was refused to
play basketball team at high school because his height didn t match with the standard. His family
didn t permitted him to play basketball because he decided didn t study at school instead of
basketball. But with the strong love for basketball, he kept following and playing with his
brother every time and every where. He keep training him self everyday. One of his school coach
said that: Usually, I arrive at school between 7am and 7:30 a.m. Micheal was there before me.
Each time come in and open the door, I heard the sound of bowing, in autumn, in winter, in
summer. Almost every morning I had to ask him to leave the court . Failure doesn t define him.
It just motivated him more. He said that: I know that fear is an obstacle for some people, but for
me it just an illusion. Failure always makes me try harder on the next opportunity. And he was
known with the famous said which inspired so many people that: I ve missed more than 9.000

Essay on Korean Comfort Women
Comfort women, or ianfu as they are called in Korean, are females who were forced sex slaves
for the Japanese Imperial Army (Chunghee). Some of the women were dragged off with physical
force as their families wept, while others were actually sold to the army by their destitute families
(Watanabe). Still other were officially drafted by the JapaneseImperial Army and believed they
would be factory workers or nurses (Hwangin Schellstede 4). Some Korean village leaders were
ordered to send young womento participate in important business for the Imperial Army
(Watanabe). Many Japanese soldiers referred to comfort women as teishintai, which means
volunteer corps, so those women who thought they would be working in a factory would not...

The majority of Korean women seem to have come from lower class worker and farmer families.
Korean and other Asian women were assigned to lower ranking soldiers, while Japanese and
European women were reserved for higher ranking officers (Watanabe). This obviously portrays the
condescending attitude the Japanese had toward Koreans.
Japanese military leaders formulated the concept of comfort women in order to stop soldiers
from committing sexual violence towards women they might encounter. Japanese Lieutenant
General Okamura Yasuji proposed that comfort women should be shipped to Shanghai to solve
the problem of 223 rapes reportedly committed by troops there (Kim). One former comfort
woman reported that in some places, soldiers were so desperate for some kind of outlet for their
sexual desires that they had intercourse with dogs (Kim in Schellstede 32). It is estimated that
over 125 million forced sexual acts took place between Japanese soldiers and comfort women in
the span of only five years (Kim). The Japanese military made soldiers pay to have sex with
comfort women. The prices were as follows: 1.50 yen for privates, 2 yen for non commissioned
officers, 2.50 yen for junior officers, and 3 yen for senior officers (Hicks 19). Concerned for the
health of their soldiers, Japanese military leaders provided condoms to thwart the spread of any
sexually transmitted diseases; however, these condoms were often

The History of American Literature
The history of American Literature starts well before this land was even called America. It has
been a great evolution to come from tribal symbols and drawings to today s Stephen King and
Danielle Steele. Literature has gone through many phases and was impacted by great events and
ideas in American history. The earliest form of literature in what would one day be known as
America were far from what modern day people would consider Literature . The Natives who
inhabited this land first had unwritten ways of passing on experiences, beliefs, and stories. Natives
relied heavily on the verbal telling of these stories to younger generations. The same stories, fables,
or belief structures were told repeatedly, each time identical to the last,... Show more content on

Mather s rewarding career included writings on science and medicine as well as theology and
history. His Sentiments on the Small Pox Inoculated (1721) was instrumental in introducing the
smallpox vaccine to New England. A new genre for American writers, the travel narrative, would
become especially influential late in the 1700s. Travel narratives include Travels Through the
Interior Parts of North America (1778) by Jonathan Carver and Travels Through North and South
Carolina, Georgia, East and West Florida, the Cherokee Country, etc (1791) by William Bartram .
Travel stories often blended observations on nature and landscape with tales of personal courage
and achievement. The first American newspaper, the Boston News Letter, was founded in 1704,
and joined by the Boston Gazette in 1719. At a time when newspaper journalism was concerned
primarily with reporting political events, the New England Courant, started by James Franklin in
1721, became the first newspaper to include literary entertainment. Franklin s younger brother
Benjamin Franklin published humorous social commentary in the Courant under the pen name of
Silence Dogwood . Magazines also appeared for the first time in the colonies during the mid 1700s.
Before 1800 magazines were concerned primarily with measuring America s developing culture
against the British model. During the 1700s Boston and Philadelphia became centers of publishing
in addition to being political and commercial centers.

Citizenship, Religion and Society Policy of the United...
Citizenship, Religion and Society Policy of the United Kingdom Introduction Religion affects the
way in which one of the majority of the world s population structures people live. Many mainstream
institutional religions have experienced declining membership, retains power to influence systems
of ethnics and morality. Also, religion has a strong connection with integration and migration.
Therefore, Europe differs considerably in their responses toward integration and migration related
diversity (Simpson, 235). This is reflected for instance in the time duration with which immigrants
can apply for and receive permanent residence and citizenship status. Currently, Switzerland (12
years), Greece and Austria (10 years) are the most difficult countries to obtain citizenship whereas
Ireland, the Netherlands and France (five years) have relatively fewer barriers (Lebrun, pg. 144).
In England, the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act of 2009 requires a residential status of
eight years before being eligible for naturalization. It also introduced a voluntary community service
for migrants that can reduce the length of the naturalization process by up to two years (Faas, 143).
In this article, it is considered how national identity and citizenship, and understanding of the
geography of religion in the U. K, by Europe and migration related diversity, are intertwined at
political level and what implications there are for future curriculums development. Regional Setting

The Hidden Life Of Garbage Analysis
People often wonder if they are living the right life. Everyone knows the difference between right
and wrong, but no one really knows if what they do is actually the right thing in the long run.
people s fates are guided by every choice they make and one wrong choice can change everything.
Even though every person is different and they have different opinions people should live their lives

People should live their lives waste free because it would help them in the long run.

Nowadays, Americans use technology to obtain information, because it s easier than knowing the
material. This has become a huge distraction and it s making people rely on technology way
more than is needed, especially the young people. For example, they use Google to search things
like homework, essays, speeches, etc. They do this as a shortcut to getting their work done
faster because they can find what they are looking for in a matter of seconds, instead of actually
doing the work by themselves and it s leading to an intellectually impoverished society. In the
article, Is Google Making Us Stupid, the author believes that Google is used by most people to
find information by just typing in a couple of words; however, those people don t learn the
information or value knowledge (Carr). This wouldn t be a problem for the people if they lived
a tech free life because without technology there is no reliance on it. Also if they lived a tech
free life, they wouldn t have to worry about getting spied on. Technology, such as phones, is used
to spy on people because the government and big companies like to keep track of their every
move. In, That s no phone. That s my tracker, the author stated cellphone carriers respond to law
enforcement s request for call data, internet use, GPS, etc. In 2011, they responded 1.3 million
times to these request and this is just

Piaget v. Vygotsky
Piaget vs. Vygotsky Both Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky have had a huge impact on learning and
teaching methods. Although they have different views on how children learn, they both suggest
helpful methods of teaching. Piaget and Vygotsky both focus on the idea of constructivism.
Constructivist theories believe learning includes real world situations, language, interaction, and
collaboration with others. Piaget believed in cognitive constructivism and Vygotsky believed in
social constructivism. They both had logical ideas with some similarities, but their theories also
differed. First off, Piaget was a strong believer in cognitive constructivism and offered that children
learn with schemes, accommodation, and assimilation. He also... Show more content on

He believed that a child must interact with the social environment on an interpersonal level. Once
this has occurred, the child can internalize their experience and construct new ideas. For Vygotsky,
culture and social context are critical in learning and he believed that s when children learn the best.
He came up with the ZPD, which stands for zone of proximal development. The ZPD is the
distance between what a learner can do with help and what they can do without help. He thought
that children learn best within this zone because it advances their learning and challenges them.
Vygotsky believed that with the help of a teacher or mentor, students could understand concepts that
they wouldn t be able to know on their own. A classroom including Vygotsky s social
constructivism theory would include meaningful content and content that relates to the real world.
Teacher student and student student interaction are key in the classroom according to Vygotsky
and will produce strategies such as questioning, summarizing, predicting, and clarifying. A
similarity between Piaget and Vygotsky is that they both provided views on cognitive development
using constructivism. They were both interested in furthering the learning of children using
cognitive processes. Also, another similarity that they share is that they both believed that societal
influences established cognitive growth in children. They agreed that

  • 2. Comparing The Civil Rights Movement And The Feminist Movement Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the United States encountered a variety of different mass social movements that rediscovered the definition of America. Mostly, the different social movements demonstrated a fight for equality and freedom, while others protested against government decisions. Participants of these different social movements underwent a great deal of discrimination and violence from fellow Americans to fight for their rights as American citizens. Two major social movements during this time were the Civil Rights Movement and the Feminist Movement. Both of these movements outlined a cry for freedom and a demand for equality amongst their different groups. The Civil Rights Movement made a huge impact on the social status of African Americans, therefore, it lead to the rise of other social movements to fight for their rights as well, such as the Feminist Movement. The Civil Rights Movement, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was the African Americans fight for freedom and equality in the United States. Poll taxes and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everybody witnessed how the Civil Rights Movement led to many successful legislation changes for African Americans, therefore, other groups wanted to be heard as well. In both the NOW document by Betty Friedan and Cesar Chavez s Letter from Delano, they mention the Civil Rights Movement. It is fair to say that the Civil rights movement was an influence for many of the mass social movement during this time in history. Betty Friedan wrote, There is no civil rights movement to speak for women, as there has been for Negroes and other victims of discrimination. The National Organization for Women must therefore begin to speak (Reader 177, p.298 299). She is essentially saying that women have to create their own civil rights movement because there is not one that involves discrimination of women. This further explains that the Feminist Movement stemmed from the Civil Rights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Villain Or Scapegoat Living in a world full of crime and violence, people begin to wonder what the cause of the violence is and how it can then be prevented. Unfortunately, there is not a single root cause that can be found when people attempt to decipher why children are deciding to bring guns to school and murder their peers. Some may believe that it was influenced by being exposed to a hostile family, violent films, or gory video games. Although sometimes this might be the case, a lot of the time it is not as black and white, making this topic very difficult to analyze and understand. Both Jonathan L. Freedman in Villain or Scapegoat? Media Violenceand Aggressionand L Rowell Huesmann and Laramie D. Taylor in The Role of Media Violence in Violent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Huesmann and Taylor then begin to define violence in its various forms and stages. This seemed to be slightly redundant and useless information since it is obvious and is not specific to the topic in question. The authors then begin to obtain the reader s attention as they begin to describe the issue faced by the youth having unlimited access to violence on television. A study done on children is then mentioned, where half of the group watches a violent movie and the other half a non violent movie. The two groups of kids are then combined for a hockey game where levels of aggressive behavior are observed and compared. As expected, the research indicated that the kids who watched the violent movie demonstrated more violent behavior. The authors continue to point out the various influences that media violence is affecting the youth and studies that back up their arguments. Huesmann and Taylor then shift to another source of violent influence, videogames. The various ratings categories of video games, Everyone, Teen, and Mature, are mentioned and the fact that all three of them allow some sort of violence. It is mentioned that the Teen category consists of roughly 94% violent games which is astonishing. This turns out to become a major issue because of the amount of time that teenagers spend playing video games. The authors then mention studies that show that teenagers who play violent video games demonstrated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Phillis Wheatley Poem As I was reading Phillis Wheatley poem, I found it very interesting on how she discovered she was a Christian. As we discussed in class, she knew she was a Christian, but at the same time she had a mind of her own. From my understanding, our ancestors came to America as Christians already, so my question is why our ancestors were treated like animals? If we are Christians, we should be treated equally, right? Phillis Wheatleypoem enlightened me about slavery and religion. As I was reading and trying to break down the poem into my vision, I noticed she was letting slaves know that it s okay to be saved in her first few lines in the poem. In Wheatley s poem, she stated, Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain, meaning white people think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although it was short, this article was convincing of the data provided (Batista et al., 2017). Protection of participants rights. In order to protect the rights of the participants, the study did a decent job in attaining consent. The participants were to sign the free and informed consent term (Batista et al., 2017). Data collection. Data was retrieved through a partially structured interview. These interviews were conducted at their home with an interview script (Batista et al., 2017). This data collection was appropriate, due to the need to interview each person individually. The researcher did not show the specific questions they had asked. The data indicated that the interviews were recorded and transcribed in full, but did not specify what kind of transcription. This should have been either recorded by voice or through a written paper transcription. Procedures. The data was analyzed through a content analysis technique using the Bardin method (Batista et al., 2017). This was not described by the researcher in detail. The Bardin method could have been explained through its procedures. There were two categories of analysis were defined: Category one: Experiencing the diagnosis of breast cancer: knowledge and feminine resilience and category two: Unveiling the feelings of women in the face of mastectomy. In addition, more information regarding how the information collected was put specifically into each category would result in a more sufficient study. • 6. Les Brooks De Bois De Dieu Les Bouts de bois de Dieu by Ousmane SembГЁne is a 1960 novel. Published in the same year as the independence of eight African countries, the novel details the events of the 1947 1948 railroad strike on the Dakar Niger railway. Based on the historical events of the 1947 and 1952 strikes in Senegal, SembГЁne portrays the collective power of the workers in overcoming the inequalities of the black community in French colonial Africa at this time. SembГЁne s use of literary techniques throughout Les Bouts de bois de Dieu is fundamental to his portrayal of liberation struggles. Niakoro is an elderly woman, trГЁs ГўgГ©e and through the lengthy and unfavourable description SembГЁne gives of her, we are presented with a rundown figure who is out of touch with the world, somewhat isolated from the younger women in her community.8 Conversely, SembГЁne s representation of Ad jibid ji is more sympathetic.9 In using three successive adjectives when describing her, sa maturitГ©, sa spontanГ©itГ©, sa luciditГ© , SembГЁne quickens the pace presenting her as an exciting and animated character.10 In SembГЁne s sympathetic portrayal of Ad jibid ji especially in contrast with that of Niakoro, we see that he favours the child and a new generation of forward thinkers. Ad jibid ji represents an ideology of modernity and evolution that SembГЁne sees as fundamental in the success of the liberation struggles of the workers.11 Additionally the relationship between these two characters is also favourable to the idea that Ad jibid ji is a prototype for the women of the future. The two struggle to agree with each other on matters regarding the role of women in society, especially regarding the strike. Une bonne mГЁre n en a que faire .13 We thus see a generational divide that establishes a negative mentality towards the strike and has the potential to hold back progress. However, due to her advanced age Niakoro poses no threat to the liberation struggles.14 Similarly, Ad jibid ji s curiosity ensures that her Grandmother could not change her outlook on society. The great thing about dogs is there is a dog out there for everyone and there are ways to fulfill the playtime your dog need without ever having to get up yourself if you are too tired or just aren t in the mood. In contrast, getting up and playing with a dog is not just fun for the dog it is also fun for the owner. Playing with your dog is not just fun, but can be good exercise. Running back and forth with a puppy or dog can be tiring but is also tons of fun. The story is about Paul Fisher, the protagonist, who got blinded by his brother Erik, the antagonist, this all occurred when Paul was in kindergarten and his brother was in fifth grade. Paul s life is a lie and he finally realizes that his parents have been keeping this secret from him ever since so that he would not hate his brother, but because of this secret Paul lived his life hating himself for thinking he was stupid when it was not his fault. Erik Fisher is a grievous character because he is selfish, violent, and finally because he is a bully. Erik is selfish because, he wants to be the center of everything, like football. Although knight s dominated the battlefield and had a huge cultural value in society you cannot ignore the impact that technology has had on their role. These technological advances such as the longbow, the introduction of light cavalry and developments such as gunpowder and artillery, the tactical developments such as sieges and the general organisation surrounding warfare resulted in knights declining in social value, status and affectability as well as a more dramatic yet gradual metamorphosis into the heavily armoured tank divisions in today s modern armies. This is demonstrated mainly by the speed and manoeuvrability riding on horseback provided. Speed could be converted into shock as the enemy if unaware of a knight s potential power ground could be covered quickly before the enemy had a chance to provide a defence mechanism and would have no option to surrender. This however was only evident in the early Middle Ages, showing that heavy cavalry would not be the most dominant force throughout the entirety of the Middle Ages. However this speed and manoeuvrability did not always result in the knight being the dominant figure. The knight may have been dominant in the West where the terrain was favourable and the heat moderate but when traveling to Jerusalem for the crusades they were less well suited to endurance in a hot climate and clumsy and unmanoeuvrable making them ineffective and vulnerable to the enemy. This shows how even though they may dominant warfare in Western Europe they were too heavy to cover ground effectively and not as moveable as the lighter eastern cavalry, which weighed approximately 700 to 900lbs to the Western 1,200 to ... Persuasive Essay On Illegal Immigration The topic of illegal immigration and how best to handle it has always been a controversial topic in the U.S. The Trump administration is trying to address it by building a wall all the way along the border of U.S. and Mexico. Trump has always wanted to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico because he sais that it is needed and will stop illegal immigrationinto the U.S. However the U.S. Mexicoborder wall that Trump is proposing will not only be ineffective but will also be a huge waste of money and an act of ignorance to the real issues and solutions. One obvious reason for why a border wall is a bad idea is that it will be insanely expensive for numerous reasons. Trump makes it sound like building a border wall will be as easy as saying we are going to do it and then poof, it will be magically done, but that is not the case. Current estimates of the U.S. Mexico border wall are that it will cost up to $66.9 billion in taxpayer money which is easier said than done (Nazario). Not to mention the immense cost of hiring people to patrol the wall. In the end the border wall will cost Americans billions of dollars that they don t have and waste it on something that amounts to nothing more than America flexing its muscles. People also seem to think that the government is allowed to just build a wall along the border but this is not true. To begin with most of the border is not even owned by the federal government, more than 2/3rds is owned by private individuals and Native ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It also provides a way of tracking the continuation of events and the relationship between seemingly isolated moments in time. Film Art clearly defines both story and plot but acknowledges that there is a significant overlap between the two functions and allows a flow within the film. The opening scene introduces us to the person we later learn is John Scottie Ferguson, something that does not play out until much later in the film relates to the demonstration of the debilitating extent of Johns inability to act in the face of heights, once with the police officer and then with his love whom he cant stop because of his fear. The opening scene builds on the credits by creating the expectation of suspense and thrill and mystery shrouding the true identity and relation of characters and setting up the disposableness of characters in the film, this adds to the complexity of Madeline s disease as the audience cant tell whether, or more when, she will die. The rooftop chase creates an expectation of dark drama, which moves into the scene with Midge in a light filled room where Scottie appears to be in control of his fear and the relationship between the two characters is established, whilst not technically part of the opening scene it instantly makes the viewer question whether their interpretation of the initial segment of the film was correct, already one is questioning their ability to pick the direction of the film. This means that those who encompass whiteness; those with white skin, are subject to privilege not shared by others with skin that is not white. But, this privilege is not something clearly seen by those who enjoy it. On the contrary, McIntosh (1990) points out that, those who have white skin have been carefully taught not to recognize white privilege (p. 31). By refusing to acknowledge, and clinging to the advantaged state they possess, people with white privilege are perpetuating the disadvantaged state others without said privilege experience. Those who conform to society s gender norms are afforded many privileges, at the expense of those whose identities do not coincide with societal expectations. The genders of women and men are present in every facet in our lives, from the private sphere, to the public one. Whether one goes shopping for clothing or cosmetics, whether one fills out a survey from the privacy of their home, the divide between men and women is plainly clear, two sections, two boxes to tick. For people with characteristics that correspond to the man and woman binary, the notion that a men and women s section in a pharmacy will sound foreign and irrelevant, or alternatively, commonsensical, for all they would need to do is go to the section they have been conditioned to, to the one that is theirs by extension of their gender. But, for someone that does not conform to the stereotypical perception of what being a man or woman entails, the issue is a real one. Wilchins (2004) recounts a day spent shopping for clothing, going between searching for men s socks and women s lingerie: Every salesperson, every department, fumbled for pronouns. Toxoplasmosis is caused by a parasite that replicates in the host s intestines and then shed into the feces. Felines, including domesticated cats, are hosts for toxoplasmosis (Many Koren, 2006). While most mammals and birds are also hosts for toxoplasma gondii, felines are the only animals that pass the infection through their feces (Elmore et al., 2010). More importantly, if pregnant, it is best to avoid cleaning the litter box at all. Another important step is to prevent cats from becoming infected by keeping them indoors; avoiding stray cats, kittens, and new cats; and not feeding pet cats raw or undercooked meat. What most people don t know is that just over four percent of the musicians in American orchestras are of black or Latino decent, a statistic that hasn t gone through much change in the last decade. This leads us to wonder why classical musicis so racist. The four main issues with racism in the classical musicindustry today are the low percent of minority s in the United States and Britain, the lack of classical music opportunities in inner city schools, low advertisement of classical music to minority s, and an unjust audition and commissioning process. In the United States, there are 117 symphonyorchestras, and only four percent of those orchestras are made up of black or Latino musicians(WQXR). American capitalismimplements free market ideology and that makes the U.S. stand out among other nations. It is used daily for various things which includes: transportation, electricity, heat etc. Most of the oils we use either came from underground drilling or came from other countries. But because of the decrease of supply in oil, people started to look for alternative ways to find oil. Offshore drilling became the new way of oil drilling. It is an oil extraction technique that extracts oil from the sea bed. There are both pros and cons to offshore drilling. In my opinion, the cons outweighs the pros. One of the most obvious pro of offshore drilling is that it greatly increases the amount of oil we use for fuel and energy, which in terms helps out our economy. It also allows us to not rely on other countries to supply the oil. This can help us reduce the oil price because if the oil is produced in our own country, other countries don t have a say on the oil price. During the time period of The Odyssey and Lysistrata, women were known as less powerful gender. They have never had much say about what goes on around them. Some women were recognized as a sex symbol. In The Odyssey, some women were goddesses that just wanted sex and other women had to stay at home to help raise their kids and do all of the feminine work. Compared to The Odyssey, in Lysistrata, women denied sex against their men to get what they want. In addition, they did not have many political rights and a say so on what goes on in their country. In comparing both of these stories, women show similarities toward each other. In The Odyssey it shows that all the women are uniquely different by their relationships, desire, and personality towards men. In addition, all the women help represent the typical role of a woman. Their role is very critical in the ongoing adventure in this epic poem. Homer represents women as strong roles and real life characters such as them being strong, tough, and diligent. For good quality cement, this temperature has to be brought down to around 200oC in a limited period of time. Thus it is brought in contact with a cross circulation heat exchanging cooler. The heat of the incoming clinker is recuperated in the secondary air at an efficiency which usually lies within 65% to 70 The clinker cooler has the following main functions: 1.Recuperate the clinker heat by heating up the combustion air (secondary and tertiary air) 2.Maintain a minimum cooling velocity in order to avoid unfavorable mineralogical clinker phases and crystal size 3.Facilitate clinker handling and storage. Three groups of coolers can be defined according to their working principle: A.On a grate cooler the clinker forms a bed which is transported along the grate by different mechanisms. The cooling air is blown from below the grate by fans and passes through the clinker bed in cross current. Only a Dart of this air can be used as combustion air, the rest of it has to be dedusted and wasted, unless it can be used for another purpose (e.g. raw material or coal drying, fuel oil preheating, heating of buildings, warm water preparation, etc.). • 47. Surcharge Essay The process is done by simply placing a surcharge fill on top of the soil that requires consolidation. The excess load is referred to as surcharge load. The load must be placed in several stages so as to prevent instability. Once the predicted consolidation is achieved, the fill can be removed and construction can be started. Surcharge which was installed as a temporary load, can be removed when the settlements exceed the foretold final settlement. Normally this is done only after the remaining excess pore water pressurebecomes less than the stress increase caused by the temporary surcharge. If the surcharge is higher than the work load, the soil will always be in an over consolidated state. The secondary compression for over consolidated soil is much smaller than that of normally consolidated soil.
