Different Periods Of Music Have Different Characteristics
Different periods of music have different characteristics. For impressionist era, it was between
romantic period and the 20th century. There were some similarities within these two periods, like
the contrasts of dynamics and pitch in the former period, while the melody is fragmented in the
latter period. One of the famous composers, Claude Debussy, liked to compose musicthrough
harmony and exotic scale. An example of his pieces was Danse sacree et profane composed in
1904. It consists of two parts with the meaning of sacred and profane, and most characteristics of
the 20th century music.
The two parts of Danse sacree et profane are not fully distinct but give me different feelings.
What I first heard was the narrow use of instruments that is performed by a string orchestra,
consisting of two violins, cello, viola, and double bass. These emphasize the solo Harp used in this
piece and outline its characteristics. The piece is well organized as the Harp plays the main melody
of this music, while the strings are used for accompaniment. The orchestration moves between
strings and the harp, and plays open octaves that are in unison with melody in a few moments.
Overall, the melodies move slightly with simple intervals and straightforward rhythmic patterns.
Whole tone scales are used throughout two parts, which is one of the most common practices by
Debussy. Moreover, this piece is in the binary form due to the division of two parts. Yet, it can be
considered as a rounded

The Between Liberty And The State
Within the study of legal philosophy, few scholars have been able to understand the dangers arising
from the complex relationship between liberty and the state to the same extent as Lord Acton.
Though mainly unpublished prior to his death, Acton s writings provoke thought surrounding
power struggles and conflicting interests in societies. It has become clearer over time that
inequality, whether institutionalised or not, ultimately provides the foundation of modern societies.
In order to counteract this and facilitate stability amongst nations, particularly in the prevention of
anarchy, many support the view that there is an inherent need to restrict the complete exercise of
free will, be it powers possessed by a public authority, or at an individual level. The principle of
self determination in the context of the state sovereignty , that being the right of a nation to conduct
itself in the absence of external influence, has assisted in alleviating some of the burdens placed
upon the human race. The state routinely exercises sovereignty over its inhabitants and distinct
territory to establish control, and in an ideal world should render a society free from oppression
from both by the state, and amongst individuals. Though the struggle to obtain liberty had
underpinned the existence of modern nations, disagreement as to its nature and scope has created a
variety of distinct perspectives regarding the limits which ought to be placed on our personal
freedoms. To wholly

The Theme of Inequality in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird
Inequality is a theme that runs throughout all of history. Harper Lee uses the theme of inequality
in her book, To Kill a Mockingbird. Tom Robinson must deal with inequality when he is accused
of a crime he didn t commit because no one will trust a black man over a white man. The
Cunningham family must face discrimination because of their lack of money. Scout even faces
inequality when she tries to play with Jem and Dill. The theme of inequality is a strong one in Lee
s book, and her use of inequality doesn t only define racism, but also discrimination based on
wealth and gender.
To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Maycomb County, Alabama in the 1930s. There is a myriad of
families in this small county. Blacks, farmers, businessmen, and strong single women all call
Maycomb County home. The book is told from the point of view of a little girl named Jean
Louise Finch, or as many of the townspeople call her, Scout. Her father, whom they call Atticus,
raises her with her brother Jem. A majority of the book deals with the trial of Tom Robinson,
during which Scout begins to understand that not everybody is as fair as Atticus, raised Jem and
her to be.
Unquestionably, the biggest form of inequality in To Kill a Mockingbird is racism against African
Americans. Scout never discriminated against blacks like the other people in town because of her
interaction with Calpurnia; however she catches her first glimpse of racism after her father decides
to take the case of Tom Robinson.

Conflict Between Iran And Iraq Essay
Society is hard pressed to find a region within the world today, which has experienced as much
conflict, as the Middle East. The bloodiest and most volatile of these conflicts would be the Iran
Iraq war, proving to be the most bitter and detrimental conflict since World War II, and the worst
the region has seen in recent years. Hostile relations and continued territorial clashes occurred
between these two countries before September 22, 1980, however this day would mark the official
declaration of war on Iranby Saddam Hussein. The next eight years of war would go on to claim
the lives of over a million soldiers and civilians. In terms of war, this conflict would play out as a
typical interstate war, with intense utilization of land, air, and naval forces throughout its entirety.
The escalation between Iran and Iraqwas not new, and there are multiple theories as to the origin of
conflict, with everything from geopolitics and disputes over territory, to religious divisions and
Saddam s fear of how the Iranian Revolutionof 1979 would affect Iraq. However, looking through
the theoretical framework of Realism and its theories of balance and power and the security
dilemma, this all plays to a patterned framework consistent with mistrust, uncertainty and
opportunism which come to explain the major causes of the conflict and why countries compete.
The following historical narrative serves as a background to highlight the major points of conflict,
while furnishing a concise view

Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare and Valentine by Carol...
The two poems Sonnet 130 and Valentine present similar ideas about love, though they are
written centuries apart. Sonnet 130 (written by William Shakespeare) is like a love poem turned
on its head. Instead of describing her in a positive light, he criticise her physical features. He
describes the flaws of her body, her smell, even the sound of her voice. Then, at the end, he
changes his tune and tells us about his real and complete lovefor her. Valentine (written by Carol
Ann Duffy) describes a gift for a lover; such as you would give on Valentine s Day. It is a rather
unusual present an onion. The poem explains why it is a powerful gift of love, much more than
the clichГ©d roses or box of chocolates. The onion becomes a metaphor for love, and so the poem
is about love as well as Valentine gifts.
Both of the poems are quite cynical about the old fashioned presentation of love. The moods of
the poems portray a dark but realistic version of love and they try to tell you that you shouldn t
go over the top with love and be all lovey dovey. They both feel the physical features are not what
you should be judged on, but the characteristics and actual person itself. They are both truthful
and as a result can be quite critical and harsh in tone. Valentine shows this when Carol Ann Duffy
says that the onion is a wobbling photo of grief, she is being very blunt and trying to tell us that
when you open up the onion, it will make it cry. This is like a metaphor for the juice,

Reflection Paper On Travel Pack
Introduction: Throughout the semester, the focus of the project was to use design processes to
create possibilities for technology to be used in active communities. Travel pack is an app that
aims to bring travellers together by showing users, events, attractions and Wi Fi spots. In this
reflective essay, I will be describing how the app works and the project outcomes, how
groupware relates to Travel Pack and how design aesthetics relate directly to a users trust.
Throughout this essay I will report, relate and reason, and reflect on my experiences on the
project. Project Overview My team Packed to the Rafters found that there was a struggle when
travelling where people were stuck with finding places to go or people to meet. Many
backpackers go to cities they have never been to and have problems with knowing what is
happening around them or are hesitant to explore with new people. This is why we wanted to
create a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travellers from around the
globe so that they can explore places at ease. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that
allows them to discover various local events, Wi Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area.
The app itself requires users to create a profile in which they specify their age and interests. They
are then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: Wi Fi ,
Popular Attraction and events you have create/are attending. Users are also able

Case Brief Of Sony Computer Entertainment America V Bleem
Case Brief of Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC et al. (2000)
Case Citation
Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC, David Herpol Sheimer, and James
Felix, 214 F.3d 1022 (9th Cir. 2000)
Facts
The appellant is a manufacturer of console games in the form of game disks and Sony Play
Station. To play the console games, one has to load a game disk into a console or play station
which has a connection to the television of the user. On the other hand, to play the PC games, one
loads a game disk into the CD drive contained in a personal computer. However, Sony has
engineered its play station game disks in such a way that it is not possible to play them on the
Personal computer but only on a TV. With a lucrative and enormous market for video games, Sony
inc. has managed to be the market leader with this unique technology (Sony Computer
Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC et al. (2000)).
Despite this, the defendants managed to develop a product named a software emulator which
makes it possible for one to interchange the PC games and the TV console games. Hence, once one
has bought the software emulator from Bleem, they can easily use their personal computer to play a
Sony PlayStation. Thus, as a result of this, one who wishes to play or enjoy the Sony games need
not purchase a PlayStation console from Sony. Further, with the software emulator, one enjoys
games with a higher quality picture resolution because a PC has the capability of

Yen Terms
(iyen isf)/(1+isf) = (yen/sfF yen/sfS)/yen/sfS

(iyen 0.1)/1.1= 0.2
iyen 0.1= 0.2*1.1 iyen= 0.2*1.1+0.1 iyen= 0.12 = 12%
When rate is 6%

There is not equilibrium, therefore, the Yen interest rate is lower than franc and with 6%

Nuclear Power And Nuclear Energy
On September 26th, Doctor Robert McTaggart came in and spoke to us about nuclear energy.
Nuclear energy uses the heat produced from nuclear transformations and reactions to power
turbines which create energy. A majority of the time, nuclear plants run off the fission of one of
three elements: Uranium 235, Uranium 233, or Plutonium 239. Something else that Dr. McTaggart
said that really stuck with me was that fissile isotopes like U 235 give off more energy than is put
into the system. Currently in the US, nuclear powermakes up 8.3% of our country s total energy
and all of the energy produced goes towards the electric power sector, where it makes up 22% of
the total amount of electric power.
Some advantages to the use of nuclear energy are that it has a carbon footprint of zero, it creates
constant energy, and it has a low operating cost. With no incidents, nuclear power is very
environmentally friendly, with no emissions and lots of power capacity. It is also very efficient
because most of the time, the energy that is harvested out of nuclear fission is greater than the
energy put in. The same thing cannot be said for any other resource, renewable or not. Once they
are built, nuclear plants have a very low operating cost, making them economical after they are built.
Some disadvantages to nuclear power are waste issues, high cost of building a power plant, and
terrible ramifications is safety precautions are not met. The waste issues associated with nuclear
energy are not

Reflection About Writing
I feel as though I have always been good at writing, if not writing itself but the writing process.
My first real writing assignment was in 8th grade when I did a research paper on comics. I had
the freedom to talk about what I wanted and could use a multitude of sources. Looking back, I do
not know how good it was but I put a lot of interest and time into the paper. My next real paper was
not until my junior year where we had to write a junior paper. This was a research paper and my
topic was Internet Censorship . I like this because it was a topic I was interested in and it was a
fun paper to write. I was basically just explain to my audience what I had learned and was teaching
them in my paper. It was like getting to write an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A writing session for me can be around thirty minutes or an hour and a half. If it becomes longer
than thirty minutes I like to take short breaks. Once I am done I put my paper through a
program like PaperGrader to analyze any grammar mistakes. I guess this would be my revising part
of the writing process. It also helps with things like word usage, checking plagiarism, and parts of a
paper like passive voice. This part, like pre writing, is not very long. I revise quickly because I feel
that all the hard work of writing is already done, I just want to make sure my paper is free of as
much mistakes as possible. After putting my paper through PaperGrader I go through and fix
those mistakes and reread my paper to see if I like the flow, the word choice, and just to make sure
everything works.
I do not have many writing rules that apply while actually composing. If anything, I use my
writing rules as a guideline and apply them while I am revising. To me, a good paper is one that
easily conveys your points but can also hold attention so I like to make sure I do not write
repetitively. That said, I always put my thesis statement at the end of my introductory paragraph.
I was told you do not want to give it away in the first sentence. Another one is I try to never use the
words very, stuff, and things. I was told very is unnecessary and stuff and things is lazy and you
can always be more specific. As I also said previously I like to have a

Lucid Dreaming Definition
In the article, The Lucid Dreaming Frequency and Alarm Snooze Button, Lucid Dreaming was
first introduced by Van Eeden. Lucid Dreaming refers to the term in which a person asleep is
aware that they are sleeping. Edeen figured out that approximately 50% of the general population
have had at least one experience of having a lucid dream, while 20% of the general population
experience lucid dreams on a daily basis. Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the
stage of sleep rapid eye movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal.
During REM sleep the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex usually deactivates, but the occurrence of lucid
dreams allows the cortex to be active, which presents the awareness of the dreams. Research...

The findings helped show that lucid dreams have a positive correlation with the pushing snooze on
the alarm clock. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship that is a positive
correlation of lucid dreaming and the alarm clock present in the study. Waking up in the middle of
the night to push the snooze button makes the occurrence of lucid dreams higher. The frequency
use of the snooze button has an association with the lucid dream frequency. In future and further
studies they should determine whether experimentally or/and longitudinally the alarm clock
snooze button can induce the lucid dreams during the alarm snooze buttom periods or at other
times during the REM sleep. These present studies have found the brain correlates of the lucid
dreams in the alarm clock snooze period may have not only occurred during the stages of REM
sleep, but also include wake like characteristics of electroencephalogram. One may conclude that
even though this study was the most successful to help show a way to induce lucid dreaming, as
well as how or when they

Terrorism Is Defined As The Calculated Use Of Violence...
Terrorism is defined as the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain goals
that are political or religious or ideological in nature. History shows, furthermore, that terrorism
was by no means the exclusive domain of the revolutionary left and that it had been exercised at
least as often by the extreme right fascist, or proto fascist movements (Laqueur 10). Terrorism
dates back as far as we can remember, but it has been so spread throughout history and not always
active that the idea was frequently ignored. As it pops up again and again throughout history people
have a, tendency to regard it as a new phenomenon (Laqueur 7), because it would be so inactive for
long periods of time. The Taliban rose up from Mujahedeen groups that came from villages in
southern Qandahar and refugee camps in Pakistan. Hit operations, military ambushes, bombings,
secret kidnappings, and terrorism became a routine part of some Mujahedeen groups (Nojumi 26).
These tactics eventually led to the Taliban taking control of the Afghan government. The political
rise of the Taliban was regarded as a phenomenon. While in control the Taliban created a Transit
Treaty between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Under this treaty an illegal smuggling network was
established. This illegal network created an artificial system that could never establish a stable
national economy. The poor economic condition of the country and the unstable economic
condition would cause further political

Alternative Energy Essay
Modern alternative energy generation methods are limited by several factors including efficiency,
inability to respond to sudden changes in power demand, and susceptibility to environmental
events. In 2010 the leading renewable energy sources were hydro electric, wind, bioenergy,
geothermal, and solar Photo Voltaic (PV)[1]. Of these, hydroelectric made up 82% of the
renewable resource energygeneration, while the other means all contributed about equally. These
relationships can be seen clearly in the table below. Although hydroelectric makes up a large
portion of the electricity produced, it is not appropriate to discount the other sources due to the
frequency where hydroelectric power generation is unpractical. It is important to have a... Show

The addition of the dam can also have negative effects downstream, where water flow will now be
restricted. These drawbacks often make a hydroelectric dam impractical, and as a result cannot be
the only form of renewable energy that we consider bringing into a smart grid.
After hydroelectric, the next leading energy producer is the wind turbine. In 2015, wind turbines
across the United States generated roughly 226 billion kilowatt hours of electricity[3]. Wind
turbines raise many different concerns from hydroelectric power sources because of how
differently these sources create electricity. The wind turbine operates by transforming the kinetic
energy of the wind into electricity using a generator turned by the turbine blades. The most notable
difference in performance between these sources is that, unlike hydroelectric dams, which can in
impractical or simply impossible in some places in the world, the wind turbine is acceptable
anywhere that wind is present. Though wind can be found everywhere, there is a significant issue
that the wind does not blow to match the demand for electricity. This means there are three states
that these systems can operate in. Should the turbines be permitted to spin freely, they could
produce more electricity than is needed, or if it were a calm day, electricity demands could
outweigh the amount of electricity produced. It s almost impossible for the

Young Luis Research Paper
Growing up in East Los Angeles was especially rough for a young Latino teen. The area where
he grew up in was full of violence and drugs. In order to be able to live there, you have to have a
strong sense of character to avoid all the temptations that the gang life can provide you with. You
need to have an even stronger character to even get involved with a gangin the first place. I m
saying this because once you are in a gang there is only 3 ways out: going to jail, a hospital, or
the cemetery. For young Luis, living these experiences with his homies gave him a sense of
belonging. There s nothing more self fulfilling than thinking you re a part of something. It s even
better when all of your friends are involved as well. Getting accepted as one of the gang was great

Social Cohesion And Its Effects On Society
Individuals create friendships, bonds, and relationships in society to strengthen not only that
individual s social cohesion, but the social cohesion of the collective community. Social cohesion
is used to maintain the structure and integrity of a society. There are many aspects of society
which draw individuals and groups, either closer, or further away from other individuals or
groups. However, many times social cohesion depends heavily on the act of inclusion and
exclusion of certain individuals from a given society or community. Exclusion or inclusion depends
greatly on financial status and resources an individual has. In recent years researchers have seen
variant decreases in social cohesion, and have seen governments take action in order to prevent the
downfall. In general, social cohesion is created through means of communication amongst a society,
along with the relationships, connections, and bonds formed within the society (Berger Schmitt,
2002, p. 405). However, it goes much deeper than just purely relations formed within communities,
social cohesion in itself has a lot to do with economic status and the ability to obtain and access
resources required to be able to partake in society and maintain subjective well being (Klein, 2011,
p. 900). Examples of resources that may strengthen social cohesion are; access to improved
healthcare or education, access to community centres, parks, public events, and employment.
Access to proper resources can bring communities

Phillis Wheatley’s Fight against Slavery Essays
Phillis Wheatley is a gem of her time; the first African American woman to have her poetry
published. Though purchased as a slave, her life was far from most African Americans during the
17th century. She was educated and became deeply rooted in her faith: Christianity. From an
outsider, her life may be viewed as an adopted child rather than a slave to the Wheatley family.
However, she did not forget where she came from or those less fortunate than herself. Wheatley
used the educationshe was afforded and her new found spirituality to fight against slaverythrough
the use of words (751). One of the greatest examples of this is her poem To the University of
Cambridge, in New England addressed to perhaps the well educated group of... Show more content

This knowledge is that the Savior died for their sins and awaits their arrival in heaven to share with
Him in the sublimest skies (19). She continues to warn the students of the repercussions of sin;
transient sweetness turns to endless pain (29). The phrase transient sweetness may refer to the
short duration of wealth and prosperity on Earth in contrast to the endless pain one might
experience in hell for their ill actions. She urges the students to shun baneful evil to the soul
which she most likely associates with slavery. Slavery is not only immoral behavior; it literally
causes pain and destruction to individuals. She uses the phrase human race divine as well as the
words pupil and privileged to describe the students superiority in society (27). This is important,
why does she choose to enlighten the most intelligent group of individuals, many of whom may
practice slavery? Perhaps, she chose this particular audience to convey her message because they
would have the greatest ability; intelligence, to see the error of slavery and have the status to put
an end to it. Throughout the poem the tone is earnest. Wheatley expresses intense seriousness when
she begins to discuss religion and the temptation of sin. For example, she uses phrases such as

The Infringement Of The Copyright Infringement
1) Does that forwarding email institute for copyright infringement:
The copyright in an email is determined by its content. Forwarding emails is generally not
considered to be a breach of copyright, but, one should carefully consider the nature of the content
of the email and whether it is appropriate to forward it, as other legal issues, such as privacy and
confidentiality, also apply.
According to Copyright Act, it considers sending emails as an act of communication, although,
the issue with emails is that they are easy to copy and forward to my people. Distribution is
normally a restricted right of the copyright owner and to do without the permission of the
copyright owner would be a breach of copyright (Darrow Ferrera, 2007). Fair use occupies half of
the copyright law and grants limited right to use other s works, regardless of the approval. The most
common remedy for copyright infringement is awarding damages to the copyright owner.
2) Oppose the text to speech feature? What markets for your work, if any, might be adversely
affected?
An audiobook, which is a voice performance of a text by an actor, who is a human being,
introduces all the emotional aspects and understate real life signs into the reading to make the story

B)Disadvantages:
1) Monitoring sensor must be checked regularly to ensure that it works efficiently.
2) Cost of implementing this system is quite high.
VII.BACK END STORAGE AND DISPLAY
The storage and display can be implemented via Visual basic or Visual Studio. The visual studio
gets the information from GSM and maps the vehicle based on the longitude and latitude value. It
also logs the information about the components while driving. The back end can be controlled by
any individual via a computer system from anywhere. The performance about any component can
be detected by a single click. The system is updated twice a minute such that the user gets the
current status of the vehicle.
VIII.CONCLUSION:
Thus, this system will have a great scope in the future and rate of accidents can be reduced. The
information about the vehicle can be stored in the cloud so that the data can last for a long period
of time. This system is small in size but it is more reliable. It will now become easier to position

Thelma and Louise
Thelma and Louise dramatises the ongoing battle of the sexes, or rather, women s struggle against

The feminist film Thelma and Louise was produced in 1991. This production was directed by
Ridley Scott and the screenplay was written by Callie Khouri. It starred various actresses and

Inequality in society has a very powerful effect on the media as there are a number of different
TV programmes that relate to the life of women only. Take, for example, Sex and the City. This
programme is based around four successful young women, all of whom are having wonderful
independent lives with a great careers and fantastic lives, showing women that they can do the
same. Another example of a TV Programme is Murder, she wrote. This programme is based
around a woman detective. It is unique as the detective is a woman and she is successful in her
line of work, most people would be stereotypical and think that only men can do the detective work.
Another example of women in the media, is that of an article on testosterone, which appeared in the
Daily Mail. A journalist explains how women were injecting themselves with this dangerous

Describe The Pathogenesis Behind Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become brittle and lose their durable architecture. This
condition can be caused as a side effect of some drugs such as corticosteroids, hormonal changes or
due to nutritional deficiencies. The pathogenesis behind osteoporosis is an imbalance between bone
catabolism and anabolism; which nutritioncontributes greatly to. The two main nutrients that are
implicated with bone turnover are calcium and vitaminD, and a deficiency in either of them can
result in impaired bone matrix deposition. Calcium and vitamin D are tightly linked; the body
cannot benefit from either if they are not present together. Calcium is one of the major components
of bone and regardless of the amount of intake, it cannot be absorbed

Nato s Justification Of The Security Council
NATO s 11 week bombing campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) in March
1999 was a challenge in the history of the North Atlantic alliance. For the first time, NATO
launched an armed intervention outside its borders in order to avert a humanitarian crisis (Solana
1999: 114). The bombing campaign was intended to stop Belgrade s repression of Kosovos
Albanian population and to oblige the Milosevic regime to accept NATO s demands regarding the
future political status of Kosovo (Wippman 2001: 129).
NATO s decision to intervene in Kosovo without the authorization of the Security Council raised
doubts in the international arena among human rights activists about the legitimacy of the
operation. This essay will argue that NATO s intervention in Kosovo was legitimate because it
was both legal and just. In so doing, this essay will start by carefully reading the U.N. Charter
provisions that permit the use of force on limited grounds in order to set the legal conditions for
intervention (Mertus 2000: 1751). NATO s legitimacy in Kosovo will be scrutinized focusing on
the emerging body of international law, which permits intervention for humanitarian purposes.
Likewise, a just war analysis will be applied to examine the morality of the decision to wage war,
and the morality of the means and methods by which the war was conducted (Schroeder 2004: 180).
The essay will eventually conclude that humanitarian intervention is now legal and widely accepted

stretched out from the shore was soon found out to transport oil from the refinery plant via
pipelines. The jetty was said to stretch for 1km out to sea emerging as submarine fuel pipelines,
along with other storage facilities around Kurnell. When conducting through the primary research
we were able to identify multiple aeroplanes that flew past the location. Due to its close proximity
with the Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, Kurnell encounters multiple planes flying overhead
either to land or take off, having close contact with the ground. Throughout the examination little
information was discovered regards the statistics of pollution around the beach apart from minor
rubbish pieces left by the side of the road. However from looking into secondary research the
information given was distributed into three main aspects air pollution, noise pollution and sea

Shintoism And The Problem Of Evil And Evil
The national religion of Japan, Shinto, is definitely a unique religion in many ways. It is one of the
few religions that someone cannot convert to. In other words, a person needs to be born into it and
grow up with it. And unlike many religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, and Confucianism,
Shinto has no known founder. With that said, Shintoalso has a unique view of the problem of evil
and suffering. For some religions, like Christianity, it is black and white on what they believe
about evil. For Shintoism, it is not that clear. Their main desire is to reach harmony, but they do
not stress evil or sin or suffering as much as other religions do. Yoshida Kanetomo, a prominent
Shinto priest during the 15th century, even bypassed the problem of evil and he took a more
optimistic approach. This is a theme in the Shinto religion, even mentioning Shintoism as a happy
religion. So how do they address the problem of evil? Shintoism addresses the problem of evil in
that they strive to drive out evil in order to reach harmony and a state of purity.
Shintoism believes they should drive evil out completely in their lives. They conceive good and
evil in aesthetic terms. The curved spirit, called the Magutsubi, is around and within humans.

because of the works of the curved spirit. Motohisa Yamakage said it like this, good or moral

shrimp that breed asexually and another that bred sexually. The vocabulary words found in the

before the asexual population dominates over the other. This article related to current unit topics
because right now we are talking about cell reproduction and something that is involved in that is
Mitosis. In the article it mentioned how more DNA is needed to be built with double the amount
of chromosomes from the asexual reproduction. Currently, we are learning about how in order for
the cells to split, they need to copy the DNA to the chromosomes. Well, with double the amount of
chromosomes, copying all that DNA to each is a very difficult task. Another example is with

Power Relations Between India And Its Implications
In regards to power relations in India, it is important to be familiar with various theories of power.
These concepts are articulated in the scholarly works of Dumont, Gramsci and Sontheimer. In the
text of Homo Hierachius: The Caste System and its implications , Dumont uses the term
encompassment to explain power; where as Gramsci s Subaltern Culture theory is based on the
concept of hegemonyand subaltern culture . On the other hand, Sontheimer looks at the aspects of
Hinduism: The five Components and Their Interaction .
Dumont attempts to explain the formulation of hierarchy system, by the concept of
encompassment. An example is given drawing from the biblical story of creation, which God
created Adam as the prototype of mankind. In the second phase God created Eve by extracting a
part of Adams Rib (Dumont 1970 p.240). They became the prototypes of female and male. This
has turned Adam from being undifferentiated to become a man. In this sense Adam had become
two things the one who represent mankind and the prototype of the male individual of his species
(p.240). On one side men and women are equal, however on the other hand women is the opposite
to men. This describes the hierarchy system, in which Eve is encompassed as being part of Adams
body (p.241). This means a hierarchy relation constitutes of a whole and the elements of this whole.
The elements belong to the whole as a set and although they look identical, at the same time they
are different.

Waking Up College Essay
I am not an early bird, I never was. I struggle a lot with waking up and when I do; I have
difficulties staying awake. Thanks, a lot, to technology, a device was invented to make the
waking up process a lot simpler for me. The coffee maker, the Superman to my incessant sleep. I
sleep late at night because I spend most of my time studying or preparing for the following day s
lectures and sometimes, I catch up on life (keeping up with social media and sometimes, reading
my emails). A normal person would get exhausted if they spent seven hours at school learning and
a further seven hours at home studying. With me however, the exhaustion stacks up and thrusts in
in the early hours of the morning. I wake up dog tired and this sometimes leads to me being late
for my lectures. If I somehow, do get to school early I cannot function productively and effectively
in lecture. This results in me being confused and not fully understanding the work given at hand.
That is where the coffee maker comes in. without it, I would be this innate student and drifting in
time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I am no stranger to the effects of caffeine to my body, I am very much cognizant of
them, but I can strongly prove that it does more good than it does harm. One would agree that
one is able to think analytically, creatively and laterally in class when one is fully conscious. Our
coffee maker has been of much help to me. It is one technological device I cannot survive
without. It automatically makes coffee at exactly five in the morning and this makes preparing
for school a much more leisurely process. The rich scent of freshly brewed coffee elicits feelings of
joy. I feel like I can conquer the world with just two teaspoons of sugar and hot milk poured in to
Jacob s coffee. It wakes the body and

  • 2. Different Periods Of Music Have Different Characteristics Different periods of music have different characteristics. For impressionist era, it was between romantic period and the 20th century. There were some similarities within these two periods, like the contrasts of dynamics and pitch in the former period, while the melody is fragmented in the latter period. One of the famous composers, Claude Debussy, liked to compose musicthrough harmony and exotic scale. An example of his pieces was Danse sacree et profane composed in 1904. It consists of two parts with the meaning of sacred and profane, and most characteristics of the 20th century music. The two parts of Danse sacree et profane are not fully distinct but give me different feelings. What I first heard was the narrow use of instruments that is performed by a string orchestra, consisting of two violins, cello, viola, and double bass. These emphasize the solo Harp used in this piece and outline its characteristics. The piece is well organized as the Harp plays the main melody of this music, while the strings are used for accompaniment. The orchestration moves between strings and the harp, and plays open octaves that are in unison with melody in a few moments. Overall, the melodies move slightly with simple intervals and straightforward rhythmic patterns. Whole tone scales are used throughout two parts, which is one of the most common practices by Debussy. Moreover, this piece is in the binary form due to the division of two parts. Yet, it can be considered as a rounded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Between Liberty And The State Within the study of legal philosophy, few scholars have been able to understand the dangers arising from the complex relationship between liberty and the state to the same extent as Lord Acton. Though mainly unpublished prior to his death, Acton s writings provoke thought surrounding power struggles and conflicting interests in societies. It has become clearer over time that inequality, whether institutionalised or not, ultimately provides the foundation of modern societies. In order to counteract this and facilitate stability amongst nations, particularly in the prevention of anarchy, many support the view that there is an inherent need to restrict the complete exercise of free will, be it powers possessed by a public authority, or at an individual level. The principle of self determination in the context of the state sovereignty , that being the right of a nation to conduct itself in the absence of external influence, has assisted in alleviating some of the burdens placed upon the human race. The state routinely exercises sovereignty over its inhabitants and distinct territory to establish control, and in an ideal world should render a society free from oppression from both by the state, and amongst individuals. Though the struggle to obtain liberty had underpinned the existence of modern nations, disagreement as to its nature and scope has created a variety of distinct perspectives regarding the limits which ought to be placed on our personal freedoms. • 4. The Theme of Inequality in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird Inequality is a theme that runs throughout all of history. Harper Lee uses the theme of inequality in her book, To Kill a Mockingbird. Tom Robinson must deal with inequality when he is accused of a crime he didn t commit because no one will trust a black man over a white man. The Cunningham family must face discrimination because of their lack of money. Scout even faces inequality when she tries to play with Jem and Dill. The theme of inequality is a strong one in Lee s book, and her use of inequality doesn t only define racism, but also discrimination based on wealth and gender. To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Maycomb County, Alabama in the 1930s. There is a myriad of families in this small county. Blacks, farmers, businessmen, and strong single women all call Maycomb County home. The book is told from the point of view of a little girl named Jean Louise Finch, or as many of the townspeople call her, Scout. Her father, whom they call Atticus, raises her with her brother Jem. A majority of the book deals with the trial of Tom Robinson, during which Scout begins to understand that not everybody is as fair as Atticus, raised Jem and her to be. Unquestionably, the biggest form of inequality in To Kill a Mockingbird is racism against African Americans. Scout never discriminated against blacks like the other people in town because of her interaction with Calpurnia; however she catches her first glimpse of racism after her father decides to take the case of Tom Robinson. ... • 5. Conflict Between Iran And Iraq Essay Society is hard pressed to find a region within the world today, which has experienced as much conflict, as the Middle East. The bloodiest and most volatile of these conflicts would be the Iran Iraq war, proving to be the most bitter and detrimental conflict since World War II, and the worst the region has seen in recent years. Hostile relations and continued territorial clashes occurred between these two countries before September 22, 1980, however this day would mark the official declaration of war on Iranby Saddam Hussein. The next eight years of war would go on to claim the lives of over a million soldiers and civilians. In terms of war, this conflict would play out as a typical interstate war, with intense utilization of land, air, and naval forces throughout its entirety. The escalation between Iran and Iraqwas not new, and there are multiple theories as to the origin of conflict, with everything from geopolitics and disputes over territory, to religious divisions and Saddam s fear of how the Iranian Revolutionof 1979 would affect Iraq. However, looking through the theoretical framework of Realism and its theories of balance and power and the security dilemma, this all plays to a patterned framework consistent with mistrust, uncertainty and opportunism which come to explain the major causes of the conflict and why countries compete. The following historical narrative serves as a background to highlight the major points of conflict, while furnishing a concise view ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare and Valentine by Carol... The two poems Sonnet 130 and Valentine present similar ideas about love, though they are written centuries apart. Sonnet 130 (written by William Shakespeare) is like a love poem turned on its head. Instead of describing her in a positive light, he criticise her physical features. He describes the flaws of her body, her smell, even the sound of her voice. Then, at the end, he changes his tune and tells us about his real and complete lovefor her. Valentine (written by Carol Ann Duffy) describes a gift for a lover; such as you would give on Valentine s Day. It is a rather unusual present an onion. The poem explains why it is a powerful gift of love, much more than the clichГ©d roses or box of chocolates. The onion becomes a metaphor for love, and so the poem is about love as well as Valentine gifts. Both of the poems are quite cynical about the old fashioned presentation of love. The moods of the poems portray a dark but realistic version of love and they try to tell you that you shouldn t go over the top with love and be all lovey dovey. They both feel the physical features are not what you should be judged on, but the characteristics and actual person itself. They are both truthful and as a result can be quite critical and harsh in tone. Valentine shows this when Carol Ann Duffy says that the onion is a wobbling photo of grief, she is being very blunt and trying to tell us that when you open up the onion, it will make it cry. This is like a metaphor for the juice, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Reflection Paper On Travel Pack Introduction: Throughout the semester, the focus of the project was to use design processes to create possibilities for technology to be used in active communities. Travel pack is an app that aims to bring travellers together by showing users, events, attractions and Wi Fi spots. In this reflective essay, I will be describing how the app works and the project outcomes, how groupware relates to Travel Pack and how design aesthetics relate directly to a users trust. Throughout this essay I will report, relate and reason, and reflect on my experiences on the project. Project Overview My team Packed to the Rafters found that there was a struggle when travelling where people were stuck with finding places to go or people to meet. Many backpackers go to cities they have never been to and have problems with knowing what is happening around them or are hesitant to explore with new people. This is why we wanted to create a social mobile and computing app that aims to bring together travellers from around the globe so that they can explore places at ease. Travel Pack provides users with a platform that allows them to discover various local events, Wi Fi hotspots and other individuals touring the area. The app itself requires users to create a profile in which they specify their age and interests. They are then taken to the Landing page which consists of the applications 3 main functions: Wi Fi , Popular Attraction and events you have create/are attending. Users are also able ... (2000) Case Citation Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC, David Herpol Sheimer, and James Felix, 214 F.3d 1022 (9th Cir. 2000) Facts The appellant is a manufacturer of console games in the form of game disks and Sony Play Station. To play the console games, one has to load a game disk into a console or play station which has a connection to the television of the user. On the other hand, to play the PC games, one loads a game disk into the CD drive contained in a personal computer. However, Sony has engineered its play station game disks in such a way that it is not possible to play them on the Personal computer but only on a TV. With a lucrative and enormous market for video games, Sony inc. has managed to be the market leader with this unique technology (Sony Computer Entertainment America, Inc., v. Bleem, LLC et al. (2000)). Despite this, the defendants managed to develop a product named a software emulator which makes it possible for one to interchange the PC games and the TV console games. Hence, once one has bought the software emulator from Bleem, they can easily use their personal computer to play a Sony PlayStation. Thus, as a result of this, one who wishes to play or enjoy the Sony games need not purchase a PlayStation console from Sony. Further, with the software emulator, one enjoys games with a higher quality picture resolution because a PC has the capability of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Nuclear Power And Nuclear Energy On September 26th, Doctor Robert McTaggart came in and spoke to us about nuclear energy. Nuclear energy uses the heat produced from nuclear transformations and reactions to power turbines which create energy. A majority of the time, nuclear plants run off the fission of one of three elements: Uranium 235, Uranium 233, or Plutonium 239. Something else that Dr. McTaggart said that really stuck with me was that fissile isotopes like U 235 give off more energy than is put into the system. Currently in the US, nuclear powermakes up 8.3% of our country s total energy and all of the energy produced goes towards the electric power sector, where it makes up 22% of the total amount of electric power. Some advantages to the use of nuclear energy are that it has a carbon footprint of zero, it creates constant energy, and it has a low operating cost. With no incidents, nuclear power is very environmentally friendly, with no emissions and lots of power capacity. It is also very efficient because most of the time, the energy that is harvested out of nuclear fission is greater than the energy put in. The same thing cannot be said for any other resource, renewable or not. Once they are built, nuclear plants have a very low operating cost, making them economical after they are built. Some disadvantages to nuclear power are waste issues, high cost of building a power plant, and terrible ramifications is safety precautions are not met. The waste issues associated with nuclear energy are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once I am done I put my paper through a program like PaperGrader to analyze any grammar mistakes. I guess this would be my revising part of the writing process. It also helps with things like word usage, checking plagiarism, and parts of a paper like passive voice. This part, like pre writing, is not very long. I revise quickly because I feel that all the hard work of writing is already done, I just want to make sure my paper is free of as much mistakes as possible. After putting my paper through PaperGrader I go through and fix those mistakes and reread my paper to see if I like the flow, the word choice, and just to make sure everything works. I do not have many writing rules that apply while actually composing. If anything, I use my writing rules as a guideline and apply them while I am revising. To me, a good paper is one that easily conveys your points but can also hold attention so I like to make sure I do not write repetitively. That said, I always put my thesis statement at the end of my introductory paragraph. I was told you do not want to give it away in the first sentence. • 12. Lucid Dreaming Definition In the article, The Lucid Dreaming Frequency and Alarm Snooze Button, Lucid Dreaming was first introduced by Van Eeden. Lucid Dreaming refers to the term in which a person asleep is aware that they are sleeping. Edeen figured out that approximately 50% of the general population have had at least one experience of having a lucid dream, while 20% of the general population experience lucid dreams on a daily basis. Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the stage of sleep rapid eye movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal. During REM sleep the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex usually deactivates, but the occurrence of lucid dreams allows the cortex to be active, which presents the awareness of the dreams. Research... In future and further studies they should determine whether experimentally or/and longitudinally the alarm clock snooze button can induce the lucid dreams during the alarm snooze buttom periods or at other times during the REM sleep. These present studies have found the brain correlates of the lucid dreams in the alarm clock snooze period may have not only occurred during the stages of REM sleep, but also include wake like characteristics of electroencephalogram. Terrorism is defined as the calculated use of violence against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature. History shows, furthermore, that terrorism was by no means the exclusive domain of the revolutionary left and that it had been exercised at least as often by the extreme right fascist, or proto fascist movements (Laqueur 10). Terrorism dates back as far as we can remember, but it has been so spread throughout history and not always active that the idea was frequently ignored. As it pops up again and again throughout history people have a, tendency to regard it as a new phenomenon (Laqueur 7), because it would be so inactive for long periods of time. The Taliban rose up from Mujahedeen groups that came from villages in southern Qandahar and refugee camps in Pakistan. Hit operations, military ambushes, bombings, secret kidnappings, and terrorism became a routine part of some Mujahedeen groups (Nojumi 26). These tactics eventually led to the Taliban taking control of the Afghan government. The political rise of the Taliban was regarded as a phenomenon. While in control the Taliban created a Transit Treaty between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Under this treaty an illegal smuggling network was established. This illegal network created an artificial system that could never establish a stable national economy. In 2010 the leading renewable energy sources were hydro electric, wind, bioenergy, geothermal, and solar Photo Voltaic (PV)[1]. Of these, hydroelectric made up 82% of the renewable resource energygeneration, while the other means all contributed about equally. These relationships can be seen clearly in the table below. These drawbacks often make a hydroelectric dam impractical, and as a result cannot be the only form of renewable energy that we consider bringing into a smart grid. After hydroelectric, the next leading energy producer is the wind turbine. In 2015, wind turbines across the United States generated roughly 226 billion kilowatt hours of electricity[3]. Wind turbines raise many different concerns from hydroelectric power sources because of how differently these sources create electricity. The wind turbine operates by transforming the kinetic energy of the wind into electricity using a generator turned by the turbine blades. The most notable difference in performance between these sources is that, unlike hydroelectric dams, which can in impractical or simply impossible in some places in the world, the wind turbine is acceptable anywhere that wind is present. Though wind can be found everywhere, there is a significant issue that the wind does not blow to match the demand for electricity. This means there are three states that these systems can operate in. Should the turbines be permitted to spin freely, they could produce more electricity than is needed, or if it were a calm day, electricity demands could outweigh the amount of electricity produced. • 19. Social Cohesion And Its Effects On Society Individuals create friendships, bonds, and relationships in society to strengthen not only that individual s social cohesion, but the social cohesion of the collective community. Social cohesion is used to maintain the structure and integrity of a society. There are many aspects of society which draw individuals and groups, either closer, or further away from other individuals or groups. However, many times social cohesion depends heavily on the act of inclusion and exclusion of certain individuals from a given society or community. Exclusion or inclusion depends greatly on financial status and resources an individual has. In recent years researchers have seen variant decreases in social cohesion, and have seen governments take action in order to prevent the downfall. In general, social cohesion is created through means of communication amongst a society, along with the relationships, connections, and bonds formed within the society (Berger Schmitt, 2002, p. 405). However, it goes much deeper than just purely relations formed within communities, social cohesion in itself has a lot to do with economic status and the ability to obtain and access resources required to be able to partake in society and maintain subjective well being (Klein, 2011, p. 900). Examples of resources that may strengthen social cohesion are; access to improved healthcare or education, access to community centres, parks, public events, and employment. • 24. Phillis Wheatley’s Fight against Slavery Essays Phillis Wheatley is a gem of her time; the first African American woman to have her poetry published. Though purchased as a slave, her life was far from most African Americans during the 17th century. She was educated and became deeply rooted in her faith: Christianity. From an outsider, her life may be viewed as an adopted child rather than a slave to the Wheatley family. However, she did not forget where she came from or those less fortunate than herself. Wheatley used the educationshe was afforded and her new found spirituality to fight against slaverythrough the use of words (751). She urges the students to shun baneful evil to the soul which she most likely associates with slavery. Slavery is not only immoral behavior; it literally causes pain and destruction to individuals. She uses the phrase human race divine as well as the words pupil and privileged to describe the students superiority in society (27). This is important, why does she choose to enlighten the most intelligent group of individuals, many of whom may practice slavery? Perhaps, she chose this particular audience to convey her message because they would have the greatest ability; intelligence, to see the error of slavery and have the status to put an end to it. Throughout the poem the tone is earnest. Wheatley expresses intense seriousness when she begins to discuss religion and the temptation of sin. For the first time, NATO launched an armed intervention outside its borders in order to avert a humanitarian crisis (Solana 1999: 114). The bombing campaign was intended to stop Belgrade s repression of Kosovos Albanian population and to oblige the Milosevic regime to accept NATO s demands regarding the future political status of Kosovo (Wippman 2001: 129). NATO s decision to intervene in Kosovo without the authorization of the Security Council raised doubts in the international arena among human rights activists about the legitimacy of the operation. These concepts are articulated in the scholarly works of Dumont, Gramsci and Sontheimer. In the text of Homo Hierachius: The Caste System and its implications , Dumont uses the term encompassment to explain power; where as Gramsci s Subaltern Culture theory is based on the concept of hegemonyand subaltern culture . On the other hand, Sontheimer looks at the aspects of Hinduism: The five Components and Their Interaction . Dumont attempts to explain the formulation of hierarchy system, by the concept of encompassment. An example is given drawing from the biblical story of creation, which God created Adam as the prototype of mankind. In the second phase God created Eve by extracting a part of Adams Rib (Dumont 1970 p.240). They became the prototypes of female and male. This has turned Adam from being undifferentiated to become a man. In this sense Adam had become two things the one who represent mankind and the prototype of the male individual of his species (p.240). On one side men and women are equal, however on the other hand women is the opposite to men. This describes the hierarchy system, in which Eve is encompassed as being part of Adams body (p.241). This means a hierarchy relation constitutes of a whole and the elements of this whole.
