The Applications Of The Iot
Whether one is a student or a teacher, he/she will not go through a school day without being
exposed to a device connected to the Internet. The applications of the IoT in education are endless,
and the results are extremely favorable for the student, teacher, and the university. For example, the
emergence of the IoT allows schools to enhance access to information, keep track of key
information and resources, and improve the safety of their campuses [5]. Professors can spend
anywhere from 12 14 hours in a day teaching, working with individual students, and/or grading
assignments and tests. The surge in connected IoT devices does not require professors to manually
grade assignments; therefore, they are provided extra time to use as they please. Also, devices
connected to the cloud allow professors to gather information on their students; this data can then
be used for two things. First, the data acknowledges which students require the most individual
attention, need, and care. Second, teachers can adjust their teaching strategies or lesson plans for
future classes by analyzing the received data. From a student standpoint, IoT devices and
applications allow the student to capture notes quickly and effectively, eliminating the time to
manually write the notes; this allows the student to focus on the lecture that is being presented [5].
The transportation sector can also be loosely connected from an education standpoint. Using IoT
devices, students can keep track of buses and

Has The Idea Of Freedom From Fear Changed Over Time
Has the idea of freedom from fear changed over time? Everything changes over time. The world
faces new challenges, or it reinvents old ones as technology, business, and culture evolve.
However, the core concepts that many of us hold dear, including freedom, remain the same.
President Franklin Roosevelt, in his Four Freedoms Speech, Americans heard a list of four
essential freedoms that they should work toward for the future. They include freedom of speech
and expression everywhere in the world, freedom of every person to worship God in his own way
everywhere in the world, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. These freedoms aren t limited
to the national picture; rather, President Roosevelt focuses on the international,

How Did Bill Gates Change The World
According to the Oxford Dictionary a leader is someone who commands a group, organization or
country. Now, ask yourself this: Did Jeff Bezos become the richest man in the world, by
commanding those around him? Did Steve Jobs or Bill Gates change the world of technology. by
ordering people around? No one change the world for the better through absolute power, rather,
these people changed the world by inspiring everyone around them. From my personal experience,
and when we examine history, a successful leader does not lead using fear or commands, but with
compassion by inspiring those around them. Throughout history, some of the most successful
leaders have been those who motivated their followers by giving them a moral purpose. While other
leaders throughout history attempted to inspire soldiers with physical wealth, greed eventually led
to the downfall of even the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although his rise to the top may have taken great leadership skills, his true time has a leader has
come with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Bill Gates has shown the world that helping
people and showing compassion is simple, and he has done this with his inspirational goals. A
few years ago, Gates challenged people to find an inexpensive way to help prevent malaria in
Africa. Using his position, Gates was able to inspire people from all over the world to take part
in this challenge, and eventually, one man even found a way to help stop malaria for just a
couple cents. This is just one way Gates has used his foundation to inspire people around the
world. Bill Gates made a promise to the world, that before he died, he would give away at least
half his fortune to charitable foundations. This act of goodwill ended up inspiring over a hundred
other billionaires, including Warren Buffett and Elon

Article Reflection Essay
When I first became concerned with what was going on in the world, I always turned to the
News Channel or a documentary to update me on that day s current event. I never opened a
newspaper, magazine, book etc. because I felt it was less time consuming, more intriguing and
simpler to understand if I listened to the story being spoken rather than reading it. Due to this
class and our weekly article assignments, I realized it is much more stimulating to open up a
newspaper or print out an article to read rather than watch a television screen to inform me on
what is going on in the world. Not only did this class help me appreciate reading more, but it also
taught me the real meaning behind key terms and cases that can help me make better use of the
article I am reading rather than trying to understand what the story is. I truly believe these
article assignments caused a major positive impact on my reading abilities, understanding and
use of the context and all around better knowledge on what is going on regarding current events.
Since I was a child, I was never big on reading because my mind would wander off to different
places and I would lose track of my reading. When Professor Varner announced to the class about
the weekly article assignments it really did not sound all that captivating to me. I did not look
forward to these assignments because I knew I had to actually read an article and understand the
issue, even though this was extremely easy going and not time consuming

Hydrogen Extraction Process For The Recovery Of Heavy Oil...
Abstract
Vapor extraction process for the recovery of heavy oil and bitumen was originally proposed by
Dr. Butler during 1989 1991. Since its evolution, vapor extraction has emerged as a very
effective and promising technique mainly due to its environment friendly nature and cost
effectiveness as compared to other recovery techniques. Vapex is basically an in situ recovery
process which injects a vaporized hydrocarbon solvent in the injection well to reduce the
viscosity the heavy oil and bitumen and allows it to drain out of the production well through
gravity drainage. Mass transfer of vaporized solvent to heavy oil and the gravity drainage are the
key parameters which mainly determine the production rate of heavy oil and bitumen with reduced
viscosity. This report provides a brief idea about the current heavy oil and bitumen deposits in
Canada, a better insight of the Vapex process and the factors which affect the efficiency of the
process. Several factors that scale up the performance of the process and important limitations are
also indentified that need further research for future growth of the process.
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
Energy is the most important factor for growth and development. Petroleum being the primary
source of energy can be categorized into conventional and non conventional forms based on the
viscosity and API gravity. Heavy oil and Bitumen are the non conventional forms of energy which
are often referred as oil sands or tar sands having high

Case Study Of The Iran Nuclear Program
To: Secretary of State
From: Gregory J. Abide
Date: November 27th, 2017
PROBLEM:
The current IAEA inspections to verify compliance of safe nuclear activities under the NPT do not
provide timely enough detection to safeguard against military conversion by countries such as Iran.
SOLUTION:
The United States uses the Iran Deal and its attempted strengthening as the mechanism to modernize
IAEA safeguards for all countries in order to save the NPT.
BACKGROUND:
The issues that have been encountered with the Iran nuclear program are symptoms of a larger
problem when it comes to enrichment, reprocessing, bulk holding of nuclear fuel, and other
activities deemed safe by the IAEA. Due to the inherent danger and dual purpose of current safe ...

Shortly after ratifying its agreement with the IAEA in 1992, North Korea refused requests for
IAEA inspections in 1993 of two sites based upon evidence that North Korea had been cheating on
its commitments and had a small stockpile undeclared plutonium. Following this, the US
negotiated the 1994 Agreed Framework with North Korea and the IAEA. Throughout the decade,
North Korea s nuclear program seemed to abide by the program, despite multiple violations of
banned ballistic missile research and testing. North Korea declared its withdrawal from the NPT in
2003 following allegations of clandestine nuclear research in 2002, and eventually conducted its
first successful nuclear weapons test in 2006.
Iran has pursued what it claims to be a peaceful nuclear program since prior to the Iranian

Background
The Bail Support Program Service began on the month of January in the year 2001 as the Pilot
Bail Advocacy Program and lead by the Melbourne Magistrates Court and Corrections Victoria. In
2003, the pilot bail advocacy program grew and the management moved to the Magistrates Court of

Provide early treatment, including access to drug treatment and rehabilitation programs. Reduce
risk of the client re offending. The Bail support program also aids an accused person that would
otherwise be remanded in custody to be granted bail and to remain on bail to satisfy the conditions
of their bail. A decrease of relevant services to aid youth to gain bail and meet the conditions has
been noted as possibly contributing towards the large number of youth on custodial remand, mainly
for the indigenous community and younger people who reside in more remote and regional areas.
Because of this the provision aid in finishing bail orders can partake a critical role in decreasing
rates of custodial remand. The bail Support programs are mainly aimed at the youth or adults, to
distinguish the different needs of the groups. The jurisdictions youth Justice department or non
government organisations give them. The Bail support program was created from two other bail
programs. The Bail support program main aim is to achieve the successful completion of bail by the
accused that would normally be in custody. Reduce the amount of accused kept in remand because
of lack of treatment, support from the community and lack of accommodation.

English Patient Themes
The English Patient by Michael Ondaatje was recently made into a movie, 2 hours and 42
minutes of pure indulgence. The movie was rated R due to its sexuality, violence and mature
language. If you re looking for a boring, confusing book but a great movie, this is for you. Setting
the scene, the movie is filmed in Tunisia and Italy. The beautiful scenery and landscape contribute
to the feeling of the film. The themes of loveand passion draw you into it. It is clear in the film,
that the love between two people is so fierce and intimate. Ralph Fiennes plays The English Patient
very well by adapting the character s suffering, love and lust. The movie was rated 84% on Rotten
Tomatoes but I believe it deserves a lot more than that.
The scenery and landscape of Tunisia and Italy contribute to the love and romance themes of the
novel and the movie. The dryness and extreme warmth of the desert can be ironically related to the
English Patient and his burnt skin. I specifically enjoyed how they filmed the movie in the Villa to
be parallel with the original novel. The bland colours of the desert made me pay more attention to
the characters in front of it. The dominant theme, however, was love. ... Show more content on

The struggled feelings for one another in this movie are heartbreaking. The moral of the story is
that one does not choose love; it is the love the does the choosing. The English Patient did not
choose to love a married woman. Hana did not choose to love Kip or The English Patient.
However, I believe that maybe Hana did not love Kip or The English Patient. Perhaps they were
just in the right place at the right time. The affection displayed in this film portrays its feelings onto
the audiences and definitely pulls at their heartstrings. It s as though the love between two
characters is so intimate and strong that it s somewhat scary. Still, I think that Ralph Fiennes acting

Actions for Wrongful Birth and Wrongful Conception
Actions for wrongful birth and wrongful conception Actions for wrongful birth and wrongful
conception frequently raise moral, ethical and philosophical issues. Legal judgments have often
been contradictory and on occasions have arrived at their conclusions without addressing all the
pertinent issues. Actions for wrongful conception or wrongful birth are variants of clinical liability
and negligence. The initiative to bring an action lies with the parents. This is different for actions
for wrongful life where the action is brought by the child who alleges injury in utero or has a
preventable congenital condition. There has only been in one such case in English law McKay v

The second is for the costs associated with raising the resultant child. Whilst the costs associated
with a child s upbringing are also foreseeable their award has posed a greater dilemma for the
courts. A child resulting from a pregnancy arising from a doctor s lack of care would appear to
have a tortious claim to such damages. The concept of compensating for a healthy child has led
to moral and policy concerns. In the Canadian courts some years ago this matter was aired in
Doiron v Orr the judge awarded damages for mental anguish related to the pregnancy but there
would be no liability for the cost of bringing up an unsought child. A range of views has
developed from never awarding damages, always doing so or doing so in a graded fashion by
offsetting the benefits of parenthood with the economic costs. In an action for unwanted
pregnancy in Udale v Bloomsbury Area Health Authority there was an award for pain and
suffering along with loss of earnings following a negligently performed operation. However an
award for the economic costs of bringing up a child was rejected. In his judgment Jupp J felt that
the joy and love of a child should be set against economic loss. There was a different view in Emeh
v Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster Area Health Authority where the Court of Appeal
awarded damages which included the cost of rearing a child. The court rejected the policy
objections cited in Udale.

Devry Consumer Behavior Week 7
Case Study: Giving and Receiving on Freecycle.org Freecycle.org or as nicknamed by users,
Freebay is a great way for individuals to give away items that they no longer want. It is very
apparent that this website has achieved such high levels of success and growth in such a short
period of time, due to the fact that they are different from all other sites. Everyone has become
accustomed to a world where nothing is free. Human beings are used to to having to pay for
anything they receive. Most people are even leery of the fact of receiving something for free. The
common question behind something being given away for free is what s the catch? The same is
true for websites. As consumers, we are programmed to believe that when... Show more content on

This particular website actually refers people to various free sites, including Freecycle.org. This
site provides shoppers another means for purchasing items, without spending money. Therefore,
by providing another means for people to receive products, their purchasing habits may change.
Other businesses and websites such as eBay, could possibly benefit from the freecycling
business. Many Americans are actually in full support of going green , but not everyone does it;
presumably because they either don t think about it or because there aren t enough businesses
supporting it. This is especially true when it comes to making purchases. As previously stated,
consumers are accustomed to having to spend money to receive items in return. So, the concept of
giving things away and receiving things for free do not necessarily resonate easily, without
reminders. Furthermore, consumers may not realize just how wasteful they really are and how
they could actually help save the society by giving things away, instead of throwing them in the
trash. In 2010, AOL News provided an article called, Many Americans Believe in Going Green;
Fewer Actually Do It . The article discusses how a survey was conducted at Yale University and
George Mason University, showing that Americans feel it s important to conserve energy and help
the environment, but they just aren t doing it. This demonstrates not only the lack of action of those

What Is The Meaning Of Act Of Union By Seamus Heaney
In my essay I am going to analyze Seamus Heaney s poem, Act of Union. I guess it is important to
know the background of the author in order to understand the poem. Seamus Heaney was one of
the major poets of the 20th century. He was from Northern Ireland. His upbringing made a great
impact on his poetry, as his most common topic was Ireland, and how English rule ruined its
culture, and its language. He wrote the poem during the Troubles, the conflict in Northern Ireland
which lasted from 1968 till 1998, and in which over 3600 people were killed.
Despite that he was against the English overrule, he wrote his poems in English, probably because
English is the more common language, and he wanted his poems to be known by as many people
as possible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes the poem a rhythmical. There are lots of alliterations as well, for example: boom
burst . In the text, there are many words that express some kind of motion. Such words are:
movement, pulse, slip, break open, and burst. These words build up suspense and tension, along
with words like wardrums which suggest that Ireland is about to do something, that something is
about to happen. There is the possibility of Ireland getting strong again to fight against England:
His heart beneath your heart is a wardrum / Mustering force. It is also describes that the woman,
Ireland, is pregnant. This child could be Northern Ireland. From England s perspective, it is
described as parasitical and ignorant . Then he writes: The act sprouted an obsinate fifth column . A
fifth colum is a traitor, and in this case it refers to political problems in Ulster, and that Northern
Ireland is turning against England.
It is interesting that the child is a male. Therefore, he does not have his mother s weakness, he is a
worthy opponent of England. ...Beat at your borders, and I know they cocked / At me across the
water. With these lines, he could refer to that the child (Northern Ireland) aims at England, but he
actually hurts the mother

Winter Fog Causes And Disadvantages
During the cold winter of Delhi, the 5 year olds smokes on an average 2 packs of cigarettes per
day. This smoking problem is not confined to 5 year olds, but every Delhiite who is exposed to
the hazardous winter fog endures a damage equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Delayed flights
and trains, school closures, black outs, accidents on highways has become a norm during winter
in the past 20 years. Apart from the economical losses, a major health impact in the form of a
decrease in lung function and acute respiratory diseases is affecting the 18.6 million citizens of
Delhi. Recently, the Delhi government had declared a public health emergency owing to the
poor air quality, which features often in very poor and severe category, according to the Air
Quality Index (AQI) consistently during these winters. The presence of fine particles, indicated
by PM 10 and PM 2.5 in AQI, contributes to the poor quality of the air and is the major cause for
fogs. Sources of these fine particles vary from the emissions from industrial and automobile
emissions to the sand particles transported by global winds. 2 Origins of the winter fog The
beginning of winter in Northern India, marked by the largest festival known as Diwali, is the end
of the rice harvesting season. The residue stubble on the fields at the end of the rice harvesting
season doesn t hold any economic value, hence the farmers resort to burning of 70 80 million
tonnes of the stubble. Similarly as the temperatures approach freezing temperatures, the general
public rely more on bio mass burning for heating, warmth and cooking purposes. Further, the
industrial complexes draw more thermally generated electric power and hence leading to an
increase of coal emissions. These aerosols from outside the city gets transported and adds into the
fine particle sizes from the automobile emissions and road dust generated within the city. And the
fine particles serve as sites of condensation, forming misty droplets that doesn t settle. 2A 2020
vision for Delhi Subin Thomas Apart from the sites for condensation, the conditions for the
formation of fog are abundant supply of moisture and the increase of temperature with height. Both
of this secondary conditions are satisfied by

The United States And The Federal Convention
The United States had some fundamental problems in the late 1780 s. Many saw this and were
looking for a way to produce a national government that would be more than the virtually powerless
government the United States currently had. Pennsylvania was represented in the federal
convention by a larger delegation than any of the other states. Pennsylvania had 8 delegates at the
Congressional Convention. Those delegates were George Clymer, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Benjamin
Franklin, Jared Ingersoll, Thomas Mifflin, Gouverneur Morris, Robert Morris, and James Wilson.

His theory required the direct election of as many representatives as possible; to him, an appointed
President was as dangerous, or at least as onerous, as a monarch. He is considered responsible for
our peculiar Electoral College. When the Convention took up the question of the President, they had
a few decisions to make: single individual or committee? Appointed or elected? And what powers
should the President, in whatever form, be able to carry out? The debate started on June 1, when
Wilson almost immediately moved that the Executive be a single person. States rightists wanted a
weak executive; nationalists a strong one. Wilson noted that each of the states had single
executives; the idea is well known and seemed to work. When it came to a vote, the single executive

Essay about Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147
Copmaring Shakespeare s Sonnets 116 and 147
Light/Dark. Comfort/Despair. Love/Hate. These three pairs of words manage to sum up William
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147, while also demonstrating the duality of Shakespeare s
heart. Sonnet 116 reveals to a careful reader the aspects of Shakespeare s concept of what ideal love
is. However, Sonnet 147 shows the danger of believing in this ideal form of love. These two
sonnets perfectly complement and clarify each other while also giving the reader insight into
William Shakespeare s life. To understand these two sonnets completely, one must first have a little
background information concerning the sequence of the Sonnets and William Shakespeare s life. ...

Each poem reflects the emotions that Shakespeare experiences with the duality of his love.
Although each of these poems only show one half of this duality, Sonnet 144 expresses both
while giving a further basis for the understanding of Sonnet 116 and Sonnet 147. Sonnet 144
opens with the line Two loves I have of comfort and despair, (1). When used as a foundation, this
opening line reveals that the reader can expect one of the two sonnets to deal with the comfort
of love while the other deals with the despair of love. Shakespeare goes on to say, The better
angel is a man right fair, / The worser spirit a woman, colored ill. (144.3 4) which shows that he
considers his young friend to be the comfort aspect of love and his dark woman to be the despair
aspect of love. Shakespeare goes on to say that the dark woman tempted his young friend from
his side. This shows that an affair has occurred between the young man and the dark woman.
Taking this poem as a basis, the reader can better understand how Sonnet 116 deals with the
comfort of love and how Sonnet 147 deals with the despair of love. Sonnet 116 can be viewed
by the reader in two different ways. It can be seen as a soliloquy by the author written to his
young friend about their friendship or it can be seen as a letter written to the young friend about
Shakespeare s view of what ideal love is. In either case, it was written after the affair between

Disintermediation could lead to economic crisis because of the importance of banks in the
economy. Banks are very important in an economy because they provide safety for depositor,

It increases the size of the capital market and generates more business for investment banks,
brokers, and fund managers because of the advisory role. It enables borrowers to borrow at a
lower cost and investors get higher rate of return, but they lose the safety of the banking system in
the process. (Patrick Artus, October 2012.)
Main reasons for Bank disintermediation are as follows:
High Rate of Borrowing: If the Bank s rate of borrowing is high, borrowers tend to seek lower
cost of financing for example, issuers of commercial papers, etc to reduce overall interest expense
and ultimately improve on company s cash flow from operations.
Low Interest Rates: Low interest rates on deposit and savings accounts could lead to financial
disintermediation because depositors who want higher returns on their deposits will be looking at
alternative ways of improving their yield. Also policies like regulation Q and Regulation D
promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board in the United States in 1933, though regulation Q does
not exist anymore led to imposition of interest rate ceilings on various other types of bank deposits,
including savings and time deposits. The imposed limit on savings deposit interest rates encouraged
the rise of alternatives to banks, including money market funds.

Explain what is implied by the assumption that decision makers are rational? How is the
assumption of rationality used in the economic analysis of individual behaviour? In many
academic disciplines much is spoken about rationality and rational choices. Economists generally
refer to rational choices and that individuals in economic theory are rational. By rational we

However the consequences of making a choice that may seem rational is not always taken into
consideration as in many cases the choice taken may be actually irrational. For example,
somebody deciding or not they should buy a sandwich with limited money, will certainly
consider the immediate satisfaction of their hunger, but it is dependant on the individual how
much importance they would give to the fact that they wouldn t be able to get the bus back
home later that night and would catch a cold from walking back, resulting in days off work and
subsequent loss of income. It could be said therefore that anyone who bought the sandwich would
be considered irrational . The assumption that one is always in possession of all their rational
senses is a dangerous one to make. It can hardly be assumed that the decision of anyone already
very drunk on a night out to buy another alcoholic beverage to be rational .They know that it will
result in them being violently sick and lead to them regretting the purchase in the morning, yet this
does occur as their intoxicated state has robbed them of the power of rational thought. The same
can be said of other conditions such as stress and being in love. In terms of decision makers,
rational decision making operates where a decider in an environment must choose among
alternative courses of action, each leading to a different expected environmental outcome, where
some outcomes are

Using Material from Item a and Elsewhere Assess...
Using material from Item A and elsewhere assess sociological explanations of the nature and extent
of family diversity today.
Family diversity is the idea that there are a range of different family types, rather than a single
dominant one like the nuclear family. It is associated with the post modernists idea that in today s
society increasing choice about relationships is creating greater family diversity. Item A makes
clear that different sociologists are divided over both the extent of family diversity and its
importance . The Functionalists and the New Rights view increased family diversity as a serious
threat ; whilst Robert Chester argues in recent years there has been a shift from the conventional to
the neo conventional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ann Oakley believes that the New Right s view of family diversity is a negative reaction against
the Feminists campaign for women s equality . Feminists believe that any type of family type
can provide a child with a loving, stable environment in which it can grow. The changing position
of women in today s society is in part responsible for the increase in family diversity. Women are
now mens equals and can become very senior in their chosen professions through hard work and
dedication. Because of this, women are less likely to want to have children early on in their
careers and prevent themselves from getting pregnant until they have established themselves
with a distinguished career. This trend is giving rise to smaller families of dual earners and thus
increasing the family diversity in today s society. Also, some of these women focus so heavily
on their careers they never actually find a partner. And so, when they feel ready to have children
they either go through the IVF process or adopt a child, again widening the diverse family types
in Britain s society today. Changes in legislation have also given rise to family diversity when the
Divorce Reform Act was passed in 1969 thousands of women freed themselves from the possession

The War Of The Union And Confederate Side During The Civil...
One of the few newspapers to act like Switzerland received a huge amount of backlash for doing
so. The Republican paper did not succumb to the Union or confederate side and instead
advocated for both sides, since the two editors of the paper had different views, but the public
was not pleased with this decision. The general public deemed it weakness and a sign of
duplicity to publish articles advocating both sides of the issue and dubbed the paper the swill
tub (Sachsman, 2014, p. 53). A Virginia paper tried this tactic as well, to no avail. The attempt,
however, on the part of any opposition paper to be simultaneously a Union journal and a
Southern journal was becoming illogical if not well neigh impossible (Cappon, 1936, p.14).
This explains why the majority took a side during the civil war, as no newspaper wanted to loose
the core of their audience due to not taking sides. It is important to note that not all of the papers
in this era were propagandist. The Enquirer was able to omit their opinions and write objectively
about the war. Wise and his successors objectively reported the news rather than venting their
dissatisfaction with Confederate s conduct of the war (Davis Robertson, 2009, p. 37). This should
have been how all the papers of this era reported the war yet a backlash amongst the public
contributed to a public outcry, which can be detrimental to a newspapers survival. The U.S.
government and Confederates were susceptible to using propaganda to sway

Essay on Media and Cultivation Theory
In an ever increasingly mediated society, mass media has become inseparable with the production
of everyday life. Media is now a platform for members of society to connect with global events
and other people beyond their own personal experience. For many, the media is a major source of
information and accounts of violence, as presented by the mass media, are the primary medium by
which the average person comes to know crime and justice (Barak, 1994). The following essay
will explore the theories of both cultivation analysis, as established by George Gerbner, as well as
agenda setting, reputable to Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. These concepts will
demonstrate how the recent Santa Barbara Shooting is a major media event that reflects a... Show

As Griffin (2009, p. 364) so concisely stated, the media aren t very successful in telling us what to
think, but they are stunningly successful in telling us what to think about . In more recent times,
the direction of this theory has changed. Scholars have begun to focus on how the media frame
social issues through the inclusion and omission of certain attributes of particular events (Ruddock,
2013). Framing refers to the forming of narratives and concepts that deliver meaning as an event
unfolds (McCombs and Shaw, 1972). Themes such as media violence, particularly in the event of a
school shooting, are often used to repeatedly reinforce social norms that are deemed important by
the media. As a result, generic stereotypes are inevitably cast and the potential copycat behavior
advertised.
Only days ago, Elliot Rodger, a twenty two year old student at the University of California in
Santa Barbara, embarked on a killing spree within the student community of Isla Vista. On the
night of May 23, Rodger left six victims dead and thirteen others injured before turning his gun on
himself. In the new digital era, society actively participates in both receiving and creating media
messages to shape social reality (Ruddock, 2013). In

The Importance of Good Character Essay
Why is character important? Why is it important to be a person of good morals, ethics, and
character? Can that make you more productive in life, family, school, business, work, etc. ? Well,
good moral, ethics, and character has NEVER hurt anyone. President Abraham Lincoln once said,
Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree. To many, this quote means that Character is like a
tree which bears the shadow of their reputation whether it be good or bad. I have no regrets in my
life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build

The Incidence Of Alzheimer s Disease Essay
Etiology
The incidence of Alzheimer s disease is 36 million people worldwide as of 2010, making it the
most common cause of senile dementia. 1This number is expected to nearly double, to 65.7 million
by 2030.1AD is accompanied by pathological features consistent with brain atrophy and neural cell
death. 1The inflammatory response of the brain, that is commonly found in AD, is linked to several
factors. 1Amyloid B, inflammatory cytokines, and sphingolipids are some of the known factors
associated with AD. 1Uncontrolled inflammation, from ongoing or chronic complement activation
is theorized to impact Alzheimer s disease, among other diseases. 2 Recent GWAS shows strong
evidence that complement receptor CR1 is linked to the development of AD, although the
mechanistic basis for the CR1 risk remains largely unknown.2
Pathogenesis
Emerging evidence demonstrates neuroinflammation as a crucial pathophysiology of AD,
specifically impacted by microglia and astroglia. 3 The microglia are distributed evenly across the
brain and are activated by protein aggregation and neuronal cell death. 3 Specifically related to
AD, the two chief proteins involved are amyloid B and tau.3 An accumulation of microglia around
amyloid B plaques has been documented in post mortem human brains and in animal models with
AD.3 Research has yet to clearly determine if microglial activation plays a beneficial or detrimental
role in the progression of AD..3 Some reports suggest that microglia are attracted to

busiest days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday averaging forty patients per day. However, only
four nurses are scheduled on our busiest days. That is ten critical patients per nurse, which is not
only unsafe but leads to decreased morale, mistakes and an inability to leave work on time. 3)
Describe end state and goals My goal, over the course of this class is to change the staff schedule
to match that of the operating room and to transition to Stay Staffed self scheduling systems
hospital wide. The daily schedule will include but is not limited to a minimum of six nurses per day
with schedules that parallel the operating room turnover times. Also, I have begun working with
upper level management on a program that allows critically ill, intubated patients to bypass the
recovery room and be directly admitted to the critical care area that the patient is assigned to.
This saves the patient and family money and decreases patient load for the recovery room staff.
My goal is to hire three new nurses and change the staff schedule from (4) twelve hour days to (3
to 4) eight to ten hour days and create a weekend on call team. Instead of mandatory overtime,
create a sign up list and make overtime optional. Please see example of new schedule below:

Case Study Analysis 2 Case Overview: The manager of a small library suffering from budget
decreases must lay off one of four employees to be replaced by two part time employees. The
employees positions and job descriptions are not given. Though their formal training is not
noted here, it is mentioned that the employees are all of differing age, experience, and skill
levels. Criteria for Layoff: Because the objective is to choose one staff member to lay off, I will
employ a simple ranking system as described in chapter 11 of our text (Moran, Stueart, Morner,
2013, p. 223, and rank the employees in order from most beneficial to the library to least. In this
case, I think that most beneficial goes a bit further that job performance, but includes other factors
such as flexibility of schedule and cost of keeping this employee on staff. The employee I rank
lowest will be the employee I choose to lay off. Decision... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Gross National Happiness
Before I proceed into the depths of my presentation today, I want you as people to think about
the following questions. Focusing solely on yourself as a productive member of society rather
than a businessman. Have you ever wondered why your favourite park is demolished to peices in
order to build houses or expand roadways? Have you ever felt that your volunteer work is not
appreciated or valued anymore? Have you ever felt that your most productive days in the
workplace come from a foundation of happiness. Hello, my name is Shelby Ward and I am here to
present my findings of why Gross National Happiness is a superior and more effective way to
measure a Country s overall well being.
Currently, the widely accepted measurement of the economic success of a country is found solely
in a number. A country s Gross Domestic Productor GDP. GDP follows the interaction of goods
and services with regards to their production and consumption. By measuring consumer,
government and industry spending along with the balance of trade, the GDP is a reliable indicator
of economic health. Many economists suggest that this is the only way to measure, however as
reliable as it is, GDP only measures one thing Money. For many, an economy s health is determined
by several factors. Simply put, there are more important things to consider like happiness, for
example.
First off. Gross Domestic Product is solely and number and speaks nothing about citizens overall
well being. GDP awards events

President Vladimir Putin, The Former Official State Security
Throughout the course of history repressive forms of government have utilized specific elements
of power to manipulate their constituents. The Stasi, the former official state security of Eastern
Germany, is commonly referred to as one of the most oppressive secret police agencies to have
weald any political power. In present day Russia, President Vladimir Putinexploits his extreme
qualities of masculinity to promote and carry through a specific agenda. Both forms of
manipulation are incredibly harmful tactics to further control the people of non democratic

This is in great contrast to more Western Democratic nations during that time period, which
many Eastern Germans only dreamed about fleeing to. In the summer of 1963, United States
president John Fitzgerald Kennedy, also known as JFK, traveled to give a speech in the
Democratic West Berlin. Only 22 months prior the communist USSR erected the Berlin wall ,
dividing the city by political ideology. Kennedy concludes his speech by stating Ich bin ein
Berliner meaning I am a Berliner . This was directed toward the citizens of Eastern Berlin who
wanted nothing more than to reap the benefits of a country like America. The Stasi s
involvement in the personal sphere of everyday individual lives is arguably one of the greatest
breaches of a person s God given personal freedoms of the 20th century. In the communist East,
anyone even vaguely suspected of being an enemy of the state could expect to have their phones

Looking at Hugh Hefner s Portrait from Various Lenses Essays
Cynthia Freeland argued that art communicates significance but there is no one precise
hypothetical approach that tells us how to best interpret a work of art. Although there are better
interpretations of a piece artwork than others, there is no one way to interpret a single piece of art.
The best interpretations understand the background of the artist while also focusing on the style
that the artist uses. The emotions and ideas that come from looking at a piece of art work can
come from the artist s perspective of that of the viewer. When understanding the expressionist
theory we can look to Freeland s definition: expression theory holds that art communicates
something in the realm of feelings and emotions (Freeland, 155). In a broader... Show more content

The different expressions all give the same underlying look of envy. The girl sitting on the
ottoman is glaring at the other girls while the two girls on the bed are engaging in conversation

wants to say something but you do not know what. Tolstoy s belief of an artist s chief job is to
express and communicate emotions to an audience (Freeland, 155) is conveyed when you initially
look at the Hugh Hefner portrait. Every viewer has their own interpretation, but most would argue
that when you look at this portrait you are able to see different expressions on the five characters
faces impacting the viewer with the same experience that Shay got when photographing this image.
Tolstoy and Freud both understand that art can communicate emotions and feelings, while Tolstoy
believes that art communicates conscious emotions and feelings, Freud believes that art
communicates unconscious emotions and feelings.
Interpretations are very diverse and come from all different areas and when we view Hugh
Hefner, photographed by Art Shay, through Freud s perspective, we are filled with emotions that
are taken from past experiences. Freud believed that when we look at a portrait or another art form,
it ignites unconscious feelings ones the artist [or the viewer] might not even admit to having

Evaluation Of An Extraverted Feeler With Sensing Strengths
After taking the MBTI assessment, I learned that I am ESFJ, other wise known as an extraverted
feeler with sensing strengths. Extraversion means people who tend to focus on the outer world of
people and things. Sensing tends to focus on the present and concrete information. Feeling tends to
be based primarily on values and on subjective evaluation of personcentered concerns. Finally,
judging tendto like a planned and organized approach to like and prefer to have things settled. My
dominant strength is feeling and being able to help other people. With feeling being my biggest
strength, we are best when responsible for winning peoples cooperation with personal caring and
practical help. By reading on ESFJ, I found out that I am sociable, orderly, opinioned,
conscientious and realistic. All of these definitions fit my personality perfectly and really define
who I am. An ESFJ has many amazing qualities and one of them is the ability to radiate
sympathy. They tend to concern themselves with the people around them and value harmonious
people. Being harmonious is really big for an ESFJ because they find value in other peoples
opinions and feel everyone needs to be heard. They want to live in a harmonious life so avoid
conflict. The strengths ESFJ s have could go on forever, but a huge strength is compassion. Their
compassion and awareness of physical conditions often attracts them to health professions where
they can provide warmth, comfort, and patient caring. Therefore,

Hamlet And Family Dysfunctional In William Shakespeare s...
Hamlet..? We all know, and have heard of the great play, and book of the famous tragedy that
was made by Shakespeare. Some debate to see the story as a good piece of art to something that
teaches and also reveals some traits that people have. When we all think of hamlet I believe we
think of a crazy time were a king was killed for a throne, and it just so happens to be the death of a
king who had an insane family, but there is so much more to it then that. Hamlet is a bunch of
things when I look at it. What I see is a time and place were the actions of people were expressed
in a way that the world is not perfect. We see this royal family with deep family disfunction,
distrust and mistrust within each other, and just straight up corruption. People need to
understand that this play holds deadly truths and lies, but also a handful of passion, sadness,
and the need of love. But sometimes love can come with piece. A powerful word to describe the
Hamlet family is very dysfunctional. Family dysfunction rules out there hope of trusting one
another and depending on the family to even be a family. In the book Hamlet as you read
through the pages, you will begin to see that. The whole family will rarely sit with each other and

The environment that surrounds an individual is vital to their health and wellbeing. This is
specifically true when considering healing, especially in the hospital environment. A more

Even though Fran became more confident, her costume and makeup still suited her personality.
For example at the Pan Pacific Grand Prix, all of the other female dancers wore bright coloured,
revealing outfits, Fran wore a traditional red Spanish dress. At the end of the film Fran s physical
appearance changed dramatically and so did her confidence. These characters are good examples of
how Luhrman uses costume and makeup to effectively influence the portrayal and development of
characters in the film.
In Strictly Ballroom, Luhrman uses many different camera angles and lighting techniques to
exaggerate scenes, settings and even characters personalities. An example of this is at the start of
the film, when Scott Hastings is dancing by himself in a room, there is a bright, white spotlight on
him as he dances, drawing the audience to watch him. This happens whenever Scott dances and it
shows the audience that Scott has a sense of purity and that he is the protagonist of the film.
Luhrman uses low angle shots when Scott and Fran are dancing at the end of the film, this is a
good technique used so the audience can see them dancing and also gives the audience the
impression that they are dominate and confident. Another character who is a good example of
camera angles and film techniques being used on them to portray their personality is Barry Fife.
Barry is a mean character and Luhrman uses dark, reddish lighting to make him seem evil.

How Change A Flat Tire
How to Change a Flat Tire
If it has not happened to you then it has most likely happened to someone you know. It usually
catches you off guard, and can even be scary or dangerous at times. Are you wondering what I
am referring to? I am talking about the dreaded flat tire. When a tire ruptures while driving, it is
a very startling experience. It is likely that it will happen to most of us at least once. Many
people will reach for a phone to call some type of roadside assistance. There is nothing wrong with
calling for help. However, knowing how to change your own flat tire can be very reassuring. The
work can be done in a few simple steps. When you get a flat tire while driving you may feel the car
pull to one side, or hear a thumping sound from the tire. The first thing you need to do is turn on
your hazard lights and slow down. Look for a safe place to pull over. You should try to find a place
that will give you room to work, and get you as far away from the road as possible. Ensure the
vehicle parking brake is engaged when you park. Once you are in a safe area, you are ready to get
out the tools you will need for the job.
All vehicles come with the tools you need to change the tire. You will need a jack, a lug wrench
and the spare tire from your vehicle. The owner s manual from your vehicle will give you the
location and a description for all of these tools. Gather these tools and lay them out in an area near
the tire that is flat. Now that you have the tools, you

Edgar Allan Poe s Theme Of Poetry
Edgar Allan Poe was and still is known as one of the best poets/short story writer. He was also the
first well known writer to make a living off of his profession. All in all he was one of the best of his
time and still is considered the best. His poems and short stories were dark and gritty; he wasn t
really known for his feel good poems but ones that explored darkness. Some of his best poems were
The Valley of Unrest , The Raven , and Annabel Lee . These poems had themes of love, death,
and the supernatural. One of Poe s most sad poem was the The Valley of Unrest . This poem talks
about a village in which war has already broken out and is now empty because of it. Now each
visitor shall confess/ The sad valley s restlessness. (Poe 9 10).... Show more content on

In Annabel Lee Poe writes about a man who loves a woman... shocker. But this is a different type
of love poem. Annabel Lee was a woman that the man knew as a teenager. He loved her a lot and
she loved him a lot. Even though people were telling them that they had no idea what love was
because they were so young, they knew they were in love. Sadly she dies from what only can be
interpreted as a type of disease. He blames it on the angles and says that even the angles could
not keep their love separated. He then goes and lies next to her grave every night remembering
her. There isn t really a set rhyme scheme but he keeps coming back words that rhyme with lee. It
is most likely free verse since there isn t no set rhyme scheme. He also might be rhyming with
lee to emphasize his love for her. There is a lot of symbolism going on here but the most
important one are the angles. You would always think that angles are good and right, but Poe
paints them as bad dudes. The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,/ Went envying her and me
/Yes! that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea) / That the wind came out
of the cloud by night, / Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. (Poe). Another symbole is Annabel
Lee herself. She represents love and passion. She seems like the perfect women that the man has
painted. Of the beautiful Annabel Lee (Poe). Some themes that were prevalent throughout the
poem was love, hate, and darkness. She loved Annabel so much and no one could tell him
otherwise. But our love it was stronger by far than the love (Poe). There love was so strong the
death couldn t even stop them and he lies with her at night next to her grave. A very prevalent
theme throughout the poem was hatred. He hated the angles and god for taking his beloved away
from him. Finally like in most of his poems there was supernatural. He brings in heaven and hell,
angels and demons which are all supernatural events. I

Julius Rosenberg Research Paper
As a child, I remember my relatives offering me a piece of gum and ending up finding out that it
was a shocking toy! Surprisingly, Ouch!, I said. Comparing that shock to an electric chair, could
you imagine the pain? In 1953, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who shared the same admiration for the
Communist party, were both executed with an electric chair. Due to their involvement with the
Soviet Union and transferring information from their connections during World War II, they were
caught and executed. One hundred years ago, Julius Rosenberg was born in New York City. His
parents immigrated from Russia. He was so fascinated by politics that he joined the Young
Communist League as a teenager. When he attended college, he studied electrical engineering and
soon after became an engineer for the United StatesArmy. Three years before Julius was born,
Ethel was born on 1915. Being a part of many theater shows at her school, she always appreciated
music and theater during high school. She started to be in support of the Communist Party when
she was involved in a worker s union at her job, where she met Julius at a union event.... Show more

He was able to obtain private plans of the U.S. Army s atomic bomb and the making of their
proximity fuse. He persuaded Ethel s brother, David Greenglass who was in the U.S. Army, to share
the information since he was working for the development of the weapons. Eventually, when the
Soviets used their atomic bomb, United States figured things out. The United States government
grew suspicious and investigated. Rosenberg s codename appeared when they decoded the text
where he and Greenglass communicated. Later on, Ethel s own brother and his wife testified to the
authorities that Ethel was associated with the espionage, by typing Greenglass

Second Wave Of Feminism Analysis
The Second Wave of Feminism took place in the 1960s and 70s, a time of political and social
activism in the United States. Up until the late 1950s and early 1960s, the quintessential
American woman was a homemaker, a wife, and a mother (Gorman 6). For her, success was seen
as having a husband with a good job who could provide for his wife and family (6). As stated by
Jacqueline Laks Gorman, the frustration of the societal limits faced by American women of the mid
twentieth century caused women to unite to fight for equality and women s rights (5).
Many believe that the spark for the Second Wave of feminismand the modern feminist movement
was the release of Betty Friedan s book, The Feminine Mystique in 1963 (13). In her book, Friedan

Non-Adherence To Organ Transplantation
Background
Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure of replacing a failing or diseased organ with a
healthier donor organ. In 2011, nearly 80% of 4500 Canadians needing an organ transplant are
waiting for a donor. Of which, 35% died while waiting for an organ. In 2014, 2356 organs were
transplanted and over 4500 patients were still waiting for the donor. The statistics prove that organ
transplantation is critical and the transplanted organ must stay healthy for the rest of the recipient s
life. The immune system of the transplant patient can recognize the antigens on the transplant organ
as foreign bodies and attacks. To prevent this reaction, transplant patients are prescribed
immunosuppressive drugs. Organ rejection is crucial because ... Show more content on

The size of the NPs prepared was in between 100 150nm. The NPs prepared were found to have
sustained drug release properties (Mittal et al. 2007).
Example 2: Nelfinavir PLGA NPs were prepared by nanoprecipitation method. Drug:polymer
weight ratio was varied from 1:1 to 1:5 and particle size, encapsulation efficiency and drug loading
were measured. Among the drug:polymer weight ratios prepared, 1:4 ratio was chosen as optimal.
NPs found to exhibit sustained drug release up to 24 h and there was a 4.94 fold increase in
relative bioavailability compared to pure drug (Venkatesh et al. 2015). Some of the key
characteristics of PLGA loaded NPs are as follows. NPs prepared with PLGA are known for high
encapsulation efficiency but drug loading is comparatively low which might be a problem with
certain drugs (Mirakabad et al. 2014). Delivery of a pH sensitive drug might not be feasible as
degradation of PLGA forms acids. In the case of oral PLGA NPs drug absorption takes place via M
cells present on the Peyer s patches and isolated follicles of GALT there by avoiding first pass
metabolism (Jain et al. 2011). The surface charge of PLGA NPs is negative which may reduce the
bioavailability as they repel GI mucosal membrane (Zhang et al.

  • 2. The Applications Of The Iot Whether one is a student or a teacher, he/she will not go through a school day without being exposed to a device connected to the Internet. The applications of the IoT in education are endless, and the results are extremely favorable for the student, teacher, and the university. For example, the emergence of the IoT allows schools to enhance access to information, keep track of key information and resources, and improve the safety of their campuses [5]. Professors can spend anywhere from 12 14 hours in a day teaching, working with individual students, and/or grading assignments and tests. The surge in connected IoT devices does not require professors to manually grade assignments; therefore, they are provided extra time to use as they please. Also, devices connected to the cloud allow professors to gather information on their students; this data can then be used for two things. First, the data acknowledges which students require the most individual attention, need, and care. Second, teachers can adjust their teaching strategies or lesson plans for future classes by analyzing the received data. From a student standpoint, IoT devices and applications allow the student to capture notes quickly and effectively, eliminating the time to manually write the notes; this allows the student to focus on the lecture that is being presented [5]. The transportation sector can also be loosely connected from an education standpoint. Using IoT devices, students can keep track of buses and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world faces new challenges, or it reinvents old ones as technology, business, and culture evolve. However, the core concepts that many of us hold dear, including freedom, remain the same. President Franklin Roosevelt, in his Four Freedoms Speech, Americans heard a list of four essential freedoms that they should work toward for the future. They include freedom of speech and expression everywhere in the world, freedom of every person to worship God in his own way everywhere in the world, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. Now, ask yourself this: Did Jeff Bezos become the richest man in the world, by commanding those around him? Did Steve Jobs or Bill Gates change the world of technology. by ordering people around? No one change the world for the better through absolute power, rather, these people changed the world by inspiring everyone around them. From my personal experience, and when we examine history, a successful leader does not lead using fear or commands, but with compassion by inspiring those around them. Throughout history, some of the most successful leaders have been those who motivated their followers by giving them a moral purpose. While other leaders throughout history attempted to inspire soldiers with physical wealth, greed eventually led to the downfall of even the... • 5. Article Reflection Essay When I first became concerned with what was going on in the world, I always turned to the News Channel or a documentary to update me on that day s current event. I never opened a newspaper, magazine, book etc. because I felt it was less time consuming, more intriguing and simpler to understand if I listened to the story being spoken rather than reading it. Due to this class and our weekly article assignments, I realized it is much more stimulating to open up a newspaper or print out an article to read rather than watch a television screen to inform me on what is going on in the world. Not only did this class help me appreciate reading more, but it also taught me the real meaning behind key terms and cases that can help me make better use of the article I am reading rather than trying to understand what the story is. I truly believe these article assignments caused a major positive impact on my reading abilities, understanding and use of the context and all around better knowledge on what is going on regarding current events. Since I was a child, I was never big on reading because my mind would wander off to different places and I would lose track of my reading. When Professor Varner announced to the class about the weekly article assignments it really did not sound all that captivating to me. I did not look forward to these assignments because I knew I had to actually read an article and understand the issue, even though this was extremely easy going and not time consuming ... • 6. Hydrogen Extraction Process For The Recovery Of Heavy Oil... Abstract Vapor extraction process for the recovery of heavy oil and bitumen was originally proposed by Dr. Butler during 1989 1991. Since its evolution, vapor extraction has emerged as a very effective and promising technique mainly due to its environment friendly nature and cost effectiveness as compared to other recovery techniques. Vapex is basically an in situ recovery process which injects a vaporized hydrocarbon solvent in the injection well to reduce the viscosity the heavy oil and bitumen and allows it to drain out of the production well through gravity drainage. Mass transfer of vaporized solvent to heavy oil and the gravity drainage are the key parameters which mainly determine the production rate of heavy oil and bitumen with reduced viscosity. This report provides a brief idea about the current heavy oil and bitumen deposits in Canada, a better insight of the Vapex process and the factors which affect the efficiency of the process. Several factors that scale up the performance of the process and important limitations are also indentified that need further research for future growth of the process. INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND Energy is the most important factor for growth and development. Petroleum being the primary source of energy can be categorized into conventional and non conventional forms based on the viscosity and API gravity. The scenery and landscape of Tunisia and Italy contribute to the love and romance themes of the novel and the movie. The second is for the costs associated with raising the resultant child. Whilst the costs associated with a child s upbringing are also foreseeable their award has posed a greater dilemma for the courts. A child resulting from a pregnancy arising from a doctor s lack of care would appear to have a tortious claim to such damages. The concept of compensating for a healthy child has led to moral and policy concerns. In the Canadian courts some years ago this matter was aired in Doiron v Orr the judge awarded damages for mental anguish related to the pregnancy but there would be no liability for the cost of bringing up an unsought child. A range of views has developed from never awarding damages, always doing so or doing so in a graded fashion by offsetting the benefits of parenthood with the economic costs. In an action for unwanted pregnancy in Udale v Bloomsbury Area Health Authority there was an award for pain and suffering along with loss of earnings following a negligently performed operation. However an award for the economic costs of bringing up a child was rejected. In his judgment Jupp J felt that the joy and love of a child should be set against economic loss. I guess it is important to know the background of the author in order to understand the poem. Seamus Heaney was one of the major poets of the 20th century. He was from Northern Ireland. His upbringing made a great impact on his poetry, as his most common topic was Ireland, and how English rule ruined its culture, and its language. He wrote the poem during the Troubles, the conflict in Northern Ireland which lasted from 1968 till 1998, and in which over 3600 people were killed. This smoking problem is not confined to 5 year olds, but every Delhiite who is exposed to the hazardous winter fog endures a damage equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Delayed flights and trains, school closures, black outs, accidents on highways has become a norm during winter in the past 20 years. Apart from the economical losses, a major health impact in the form of a decrease in lung function and acute respiratory diseases is affecting the 18.6 million citizens of Delhi. Recently, the Delhi government had declared a public health emergency owing to the poor air quality, which features often in very poor and severe category, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) consistently during these winters. The presence of fine particles, indicated by PM 10 and PM 2.5 in AQI, contributes to the poor quality of the air and is the major cause for fogs. Sources of these fine particles vary from the emissions from industrial and automobile emissions to the sand particles transported by global winds. 2 Origins of the winter fog The beginning of winter in Northern India, marked by the largest festival known as Diwali, is the end of the rice harvesting season. The residue stubble on the fields at the end of the rice harvesting season doesn t hold any economic value, hence the farmers resort to burning of 70 80 million tonnes of the stubble. Similarly as the temperatures approach freezing temperatures, the general public rely more on bio mass burning for heating, warmth and cooking purposes. Further, the industrial complexes draw more thermally generated electric power and hence leading to an increase of coal emissions. Sonnet 144 opens with the line Two loves I have of comfort and despair, (1). When used as a foundation, this opening line reveals that the reader can expect one of the two sonnets to deal with the comfort of love while the other deals with the despair of love. Shakespeare goes on to say, The better angel is a man right fair, / The worser spirit a woman, colored ill. Sonnet 116 can be viewed by the reader in two different ways. Main reasons for Bank disintermediation are as follows: High Rate of Borrowing: If the Bank s rate of borrowing is high, borrowers tend to seek lower cost of financing for example, issuers of commercial papers, etc to reduce overall interest expense and ultimately improve on company s cash flow from operations. Low Interest Rates: Low interest rates on deposit and savings accounts could lead to financial disintermediation because depositors who want higher returns on their deposits will be looking at alternative ways of improving their yield. Also policies like regulation Q and Regulation D promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board in the United States in 1933, though regulation Q does not exist anymore led to imposition of interest rate ceilings on various other types of bank deposits, including savings and time deposits. • 20. Explain what is implied by the assumption that... Explain what is implied by the assumption that decision makers are rational? How is the assumption of rationality used in the economic analysis of individual behaviour? In many academic disciplines much is spoken about rationality and rational choices. Economists generally refer to rational choices and that individuals in economic theory are rational. By rational we mean people choose options which they perceive to be the best, given the circumstances they are in. In terms of making rational choices some of the conceivable options for example of going to work would be: В· Actually going to work. В· Staying at home В· Going out shopping В· Buying a house В· Fly to the moon etc. But with these choices we face... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However the consequences of making a choice that may seem rational is not always taken into consideration as in many cases the choice taken may be actually irrational. For example, somebody deciding or not they should buy a sandwich with limited money, will certainly consider the immediate satisfaction of their hunger, but it is dependant on the individual how much importance they would give to the fact that they wouldn t be able to get the bus back home later that night and would catch a cold from walking back, resulting in days off work and subsequent loss of income. It could be said therefore that anyone who bought the sandwich would be considered irrational . The assumption that one is always in possession of all their rational senses is a dangerous one to make. It can hardly be assumed that the decision of anyone already very drunk on a night out to buy another alcoholic beverage to be rational .They know that it will result in them being violently sick and lead to them regretting the purchase in the morning, yet this does occur as their intoxicated state has robbed them of the power of rational thought. The same can be said of other conditions such as stress and being in love. Family diversity is the idea that there are a range of different family types, rather than a single dominant one like the nuclear family. It is associated with the post modernists idea that in today s society increasing choice about relationships is creating greater family diversity. Item A makes clear that different sociologists are divided over both the extent of family diversity and its importance . The Functionalists and the New Rights view increased family diversity as a serious threat ; whilst Robert Chester argues in recent years there has been a shift from the conventional to the neo conventional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ann Oakley believes that the New Right s view of family diversity is a negative reaction against the Feminists campaign for women s equality . Feminists believe that any type of family type can provide a child with a loving, stable environment in which it can grow. The changing position of women in today s society is in part responsible for the increase in family diversity. Women are now mens equals and can become very senior in their chosen professions through hard work and dedication. Because of this, women are less likely to want to have children early on in their careers and prevent themselves from getting pregnant until they have established themselves with a distinguished career. This trend is giving rise to smaller families of dual earners and thus increasing the family diversity in today s society. Also, some of these women focus so heavily on their careers they never actually find a partner. And so, when they feel ready to have children they either go through the IVF process or adopt a child, again widening the diverse family types in Britain s society today. Changes in legislation have also given rise to family diversity when the Divorce Reform Act was passed in 1969 thousands of women freed themselves from the possession of ... • 22. The War Of The Union And Confederate Side During The Civil... One of the few newspapers to act like Switzerland received a huge amount of backlash for doing so. The Republican paper did not succumb to the Union or confederate side and instead advocated for both sides, since the two editors of the paper had different views, but the public was not pleased with this decision. The general public deemed it weakness and a sign of duplicity to publish articles advocating both sides of the issue and dubbed the paper the swill tub (Sachsman, 2014, p. 53). A Virginia paper tried this tactic as well, to no avail. The attempt, however, on the part of any opposition paper to be simultaneously a Union journal and a Southern journal was becoming illogical if not well neigh impossible (Cappon, 1936, p.14). This explains why the majority took a side during the civil war, as no newspaper wanted to loose the core of their audience due to not taking sides. It is important to note that not all of the papers in this era were propagandist. The Enquirer was able to omit their opinions and write objectively about the war. Wise and his successors objectively reported the news rather than venting their dissatisfaction with Confederate s conduct of the war (Davis Robertson, 2009, p. 37). This should have been how all the papers of this era reported the war yet a backlash amongst the public contributed to a public outcry, which can be detrimental to a newspapers survival. Media is now a platform for members of society to connect with global events and other people beyond their own personal experience. For many, the media is a major source of information and accounts of violence, as presented by the mass media, are the primary medium by which the average person comes to know crime and justice (Barak, 1994). As Griffin (2009, p. 364) so concisely stated, the media aren t very successful in telling us what to think, but they are stunningly successful in telling us what to think about . In more recent times, the direction of this theory has changed. Scholars have begun to focus on how the media frame social issues through the inclusion and omission of certain attributes of particular events (Ruddock, 2013). Framing refers to the forming of narratives and concepts that deliver meaning as an event unfolds (McCombs and Shaw, 1972). Themes such as media violence, particularly in the event of a school shooting, are often used to repeatedly reinforce social norms that are deemed important by the media. As a result, generic stereotypes are inevitably cast and the potential copycat behavior advertised. Only days ago, Elliot Rodger, a twenty two year old student at the University of California in Santa Barbara, embarked on a killing spree within the student community of Isla Vista. On the night of May 23, Rodger left six victims dead and thirteen others injured before turning his gun on himself. Have you ever felt that your most productive days in the workplace come from a foundation of happiness. Currently, the widely accepted measurement of the economic success of a country is found solely in a number. A country s Gross Domestic Productor GDP. GDP follows the interaction of goods and services with regards to their production and consumption. By measuring consumer, government and industry spending along with the balance of trade, the GDP is a reliable indicator of economic health. Many economists suggest that this is the only way to measure, however as reliable as it is, GDP only measures one thing Money. For many, an economy s health is determined by several factors. Looking at Hugh Hefner s Portrait from Various Lenses Essays Cynthia Freeland argued that art communicates significance but there is no one precise hypothetical approach that tells us how to best interpret a work of art. Although there are better interpretations of a piece artwork than others, there is no one way to interpret a single piece of art. The best interpretations understand the background of the artist while also focusing on the style that the artist uses. The emotions and ideas that come from looking at a piece of art work can come from the artist s perspective of that of the viewer. • 42. How Change A Flat Tire How to Change a Flat Tire If it has not happened to you then it has most likely happened to someone you know. It usually catches you off guard, and can even be scary or dangerous at times. Are you wondering what I am referring to? I am talking about the dreaded flat tire. When a tire ruptures while driving, it is a very startling experience. It is likely that it will happen to most of us at least once. Many people will reach for a phone to call some type of roadside assistance. There is nothing wrong with calling for help. However, knowing how to change your own flat tire can be very reassuring. The work can be done in a few simple steps. When you get a flat tire while driving you may feel the car pull to one side, or hear a thumping sound from the tire. The first thing you need to do is turn on your hazard lights and slow down. Look for a safe place to pull over. You should try to find a place that will give you room to work, and get you as far away from the road as possible. Ensure the vehicle parking brake is engaged when you park. Once you are in a safe area, you are ready to get out the tools you will need for the job. All vehicles come with the tools you need to change the tire. You will need a jack, a lug wrench and the spare tire from your vehicle. The owner s manual from your vehicle will give you the location and a description for all of these tools. Gather these tools and lay them out in an area near the tire that is flat. Now that you have the tools, you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Edgar Allan Poe s Theme Of Poetry Edgar Allan Poe was and still is known as one of the best poets/short story writer. He was also the first well known writer to make a living off of his profession. All in all he was one of the best of his time and still is considered the best. His poems and short stories were dark and gritty; he wasn t really known for his feel good poems but ones that explored darkness. Some of his best poems were The Valley of Unrest , The Raven , and Annabel Lee . These poems had themes of love, death, and the supernatural. One of Poe s most sad poem was the The Valley of Unrest . This poem talks about a village in which war has already broken out and is now empty because of it. Now each visitor shall confess/ The sad valley s restlessness. (Poe 9 10).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Annabel Lee Poe writes about a man who loves a woman... shocker. But this is a different type of love poem. Annabel Lee was a woman that the man knew as a teenager. He loved her a lot and she loved him a lot. Even though people were telling them that they had no idea what love was because they were so young, they knew they were in love. Sadly she dies from what only can be interpreted as a type of disease. He blames it on the angles and says that even the angles could not keep their love separated. He then goes and lies next to her grave every night remembering her. There isn t really a set rhyme scheme but he keeps coming back words that rhyme with lee. It is most likely free verse since there isn t no set rhyme scheme. He also might be rhyming with lee to emphasize his love for her. There is a lot of symbolism going on here but the most important one are the angles. You would always think that angles are good and right, but Poe paints them as bad dudes. The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,/ Went envying her and me /Yes! that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea) / That the wind came out of the cloud by night, / Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee. (Poe). Another symbole is Annabel Lee herself. She represents love and passion. She seems like the perfect women that the man has painted. Of the beautiful Annabel Lee (Poe). Some themes that were prevalent throughout the poem was love, hate, and darkness. She loved Annabel so much and no one could tell him otherwise. But our love it was stronger by far than the love (Poe). There love was so strong the death couldn t even stop them and he lies with her at night next to her grave. A very prevalent theme throughout the poem was hatred. He hated the angles and god for taking his beloved away from him. Finally like in most of his poems there was supernatural. He brings in heaven and hell, angels and demons which are all supernatural events. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Julius Rosenberg Research Paper As a child, I remember my relatives offering me a piece of gum and ending up finding out that it was a shocking toy! Surprisingly, Ouch!, I said. Comparing that shock to an electric chair, could you imagine the pain? In 1953, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who shared the same admiration for the Communist party, were both executed with an electric chair. Due to their involvement with the Soviet Union and transferring information from their connections during World War II, they were caught and executed. One hundred years ago, Julius Rosenberg was born in New York City. His parents immigrated from Russia. He was so fascinated by politics that he joined the Young Communist League as a teenager. When he attended college, he studied electrical engineering and soon after became an engineer for the United StatesArmy. Three years before Julius was born, Ethel was born on 1915. Being a part of many theater shows at her school, she always appreciated music and theater during high school. She started to be in support of the Communist Party when she was involved in a worker s union at her job, where she met Julius at a union event.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was able to obtain private plans of the U.S. Army s atomic bomb and the making of their proximity fuse. He persuaded Ethel s brother, David Greenglass who was in the U.S. Army, to share the information since he was working for the development of the weapons. Eventually, when the Soviets used their atomic bomb, United States figured things out. The United States government grew suspicious and investigated. Rosenberg s codename appeared when they decoded the text where he and Greenglass communicated. Later on, Ethel s own brother and his wife testified to the authorities that Ethel was associated with the espionage, by typing Greenglass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Second Wave Of Feminism Analysis The Second Wave of Feminism took place in the 1960s and 70s, a time of political and social activism in the United States. Up until the late 1950s and early 1960s, the quintessential American woman was a homemaker, a wife, and a mother (Gorman 6). For her, success was seen as having a husband with a good job who could provide for his wife and family (6). As stated by Jacqueline Laks Gorman, the frustration of the societal limits faced by American women of the mid twentieth century caused women to unite to fight for equality and women s rights (5). Many believe that the spark for the Second Wave of feminismand the modern feminist movement was the release of Betty Friedan s book, The Feminine Mystique in 1963 (13). In her book, Friedan describes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Non-Adherence To Organ Transplantation Background Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure of replacing a failing or diseased organ with a healthier donor organ. In 2011, nearly 80% of 4500 Canadians needing an organ transplant are waiting for a donor. Of which, 35% died while waiting for an organ. In 2014, 2356 organs were transplanted and over 4500 patients were still waiting for the donor. The statistics prove that organ transplantation is critical and the transplanted organ must stay healthy for the rest of the recipient s life. The immune system of the transplant patient can recognize the antigens on the transplant organ as foreign bodies and attacks. To prevent this reaction, transplant patients are prescribed immunosuppressive drugs. Organ rejection is crucial because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The size of the NPs prepared was in between 100 150nm. The NPs prepared were found to have sustained drug release properties (Mittal et al. 2007). Example 2: Nelfinavir PLGA NPs were prepared by nanoprecipitation method. Drug:polymer weight ratio was varied from 1:1 to 1:5 and particle size, encapsulation efficiency and drug loading were measured. Among the drug:polymer weight ratios prepared, 1:4 ratio was chosen as optimal. NPs found to exhibit sustained drug release up to 24 h and there was a 4.94 fold increase in relative bioavailability compared to pure drug (Venkatesh et al. 2015). Some of the key characteristics of PLGA loaded NPs are as follows. NPs prepared with PLGA are known for high encapsulation efficiency but drug loading is comparatively low which might be a problem with certain drugs (Mirakabad et al. 2014). Delivery of a pH sensitive drug might not be feasible as degradation of PLGA forms acids. In the case of oral PLGA NPs drug absorption takes place via M cells present on the Peyer s patches and isolated follicles of GALT there by avoiding first pass metabolism (Jain et al. 2011). The surface charge of PLGA NPs is negative which may reduce the bioavailability as they repel GI mucosal membrane (Zhang et al. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
