Theoretical Cause Of Crime
A thorough understanding of the many theories of criminology is the grounding of knowledge to
any criminal justice practitioner or policy maker. Policy makers can utilize the theoretical
understanding to design policies that not only address remedies to the current crime problem, but
also find the underlying cause of crimeto further deter it. Criminal justice practitioners can use
criminological theories to address the cause of crime and offer a rehabilitative fix, rather than
simply incarcerate offenders.
Four theoretical aspects that any criminal theory must incorporate to be a true theory of crime are
correlation, theoretical rationale, time sequence, and an absence of spuriousness (Akers Sellers,
2013). Correlation must do with how the theoretical cause of crime leads to the commission of
crime. Theoretical rationale explains why the theoretical origin of crime causes the crime. The time
sequence must show that the theoretical cause of crime always precedes the crime. The final
aspect, the absence of spuriousness, rules out other causes for the crime as the real explanation of
crime. (Akers Sellers, 2013).
A major challenge that faces the criminal justice field today are youth gangs. Strain Theory is
perhaps the best theoretical explanation of juvenile gang criminal activity. Agnew clarified strain as
the relationships in which others are not treating the individual as he or she would like to be
treated. (Tibbetts, 2015). Though this is the original definition,

Research Paper On Child Slavery
Child Slavery Up until the 13th amendment, owning a slave had been just like owning any other
piece of property. No one felt guilty about how the slaves were being mistreated. The 13th
amendment was the first step in ending slavery in the United States, but no steps were taken to end
slavery in other countries. Even though people believe that slaveryno longer exists today, about 5.5
million children are still held captive in slavery (Anti Slavery International 2012). Child slavery
can come in many different forms. There are a few differences between child work, child labor,
and child slavery. Child work is beneficial to the child. Work can be used to gain skills or
knowledge that is essential for the child growing up. Work can also be a source of income for a
family. Child labor is the child being taken away from an education and development. An
example of child labor would be a ten year old child working for a company when the labor laws
say that the minimum working age is 15. The worst form of child labor is when the child is
doing hazardous work. Any work that is dangerous to the child is considered hazardous work.
Slavery and slavery like practices are the major and most common types of child labor. Child
trafficking is transporting children away from their homes and families, so they can be exploited
for sex or labor. The children are left vulnerable and at the mercy of their employers (Anti Slavery
International). In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human

The War That Didn t End All Wars
Four years, three months and two weeks later, in 1918, the global series of destructive events,
known as World War 1, that had begun when Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz
Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the throne of Austria Hungary finally came to an end. Resulting in
the victory of the allied forces, establishing a safer place for democracy for a very short period of
time. However it was not without a fight that this achievement came about, millions of troops
lost their lives to the deadly chemical weapons, tanks and other weaponry. The war had so many
devastating effects that British author H. G. Wells called it The war to end war , which now
can be seen as an erroneous comment. In his article, The War That Didn t End All Wars war
studies professor at King s college London, Sir Lawrence D. Freedman, quotes George Kennan s
words to describe the war as the great seminal catastrophe as the Great War led to the creation of
a broken intergovernmental organization known as the League of Nation, left Germany
completely destroyed financially and contributed to the collapse of the Austrian, Turkish and
Russian Empire. World War 1 did not end war; instead it not only paved the way for the biggest
war in history of mankind, World War 2, but also one of the worst genocides the world has ever
seen, the Holocaust. After the victory of the Allied forces, the Paris Peace Conference was held in
Paris to evaluate the consequences of the Central Powers. This Conference

Let s start when it all happened in January 25, 2000 when i was first Born in Richmond, Virginia.

The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers
Conservation Study
While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from
Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the
Younger and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into
topics such as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and
conservation efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of
presentation.
The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. The
artwork was painted circa 1640 1645 ( The Armorer s Shop. ), and depicts an armorer s shop as the
title suggests. To go further into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and
Teniers ever collaborated with each other (Woll.)
As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here,
however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely
noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these
first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no
mention of Brueghel (Huskinson).
The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details
through techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used
to obtain information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared
reflectography, and x ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop.
Infrared can be used to see through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details
in the painting that may have changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). X ray can
be used to see through the entire painting to detect its base and find possible weaknesses or
damages to the painting s

The Biological Species Of Maggot Flies
1.
The species concept that should be primarily used in this case is the biological species concept.
Considering the fact that the two different races of maggot flies have the capabilities and ultimately
the potential to interbreed with one another to produce a fertile offspring, but can t effectively
interbreed with other species leads me to come to this conclusion.
2.
Hawthorn maggot flies and apple maggot flies are not distinct as a species. The two races differ
genetically and are physically indistinguishable. There is no geographical isolation or physical
separation between adult maggot flies as a whole. Hawthorn and apple flies are assigned to the
same taxonomic species. Apple maggot flies desire to mate and lay their eggs in apples,

Welcome To Nightvale Poem Analysis
A common theme in both Welcome to Nightvale and War of the Worlds is that original assumptions
can misleading. War of the Worlds utilises sentence structure to bring the concept that experiencing
death and horror will increase the appreciation of life to the forefront of the reader s mind.
Contrastingly the serious elements of death and horror are masked under the aural techniques of
Welcome to Nightvale through music. The audience expectations of Welcome to Nightvale are
inverted through the weather section in Welcome to Nightvale which is non diegetic sound because
it is a song or instrumental item that alludes to the darker elements of the episode. These elements
are contained within the lyrics or tone of the music to explain more about... Show more content on

Similarly, War of the Worlds uses scientific language, actual real places and media extracts to
develop the reader s connection to the real world and the novel. The two texts then hold greater
influence over the reader s emotions and understandings of the world around them which in turn
develop contrasting beliefs about the nature of horror and death. However Welcome to Nightvale s
narrative realism which influences an audience s reactions to horror and fear is lessened through
the use of Absurdism. Absurdist imagery such as in episode 2 GLOW CLOUD a lion, like the
kind you see on the sun baked plains of Africa or a pee stained enclosure at a local zoo, fell on top
of the White Sand Ice Cream Shop allows the reader to separate themselves from the horror within
an episode and instead connect with the philosophical intentions of Finke and Cranor, which is that
sometimes you go through things that seem huge at the time as a mysterious glowing cloud
devouring your entire community. While they re happening they feel like the only thing that
matters, and you can hardly imagine that there s the world out there that can have anything going
on. Both texts envelop narrative structure to draw parallelisms between reality and fiction which
deepen the reader s emotional connection but the

formed in August of 1960, and were lead by Jerome Prince Shorty Freeman and Harold Money

such a close group from the start. Being formed for much of the same reason and having such a

First: they were the first gang in Chicago (Quite possibly the whole USA too) to ever using gang

young man named Larry Hoover had sex with Jerome s then girlfriend. This would be the start of
a resentment that would last for three decades. Third: Jerome was always really big on Black
Rights and Political activism. He began to teach both Harold and Durkey about the Black

Buffalo School Dropouts
Buffalo School system is notorious for having extremely high drop out rates; currently the rate of
students that graduate on time is 55.5% (The Buffalo News). The school system needs to combat
this problem head on, as these children are the future of our great city. Children need to be
enthused in order to want to stay in a learning environment like school. Educating them on the
importance and hearing from previous students can help motivate them for the ultimate goal of
graduation. This is where individuals who have been through the school system, and continued with

Child Observation Paper:
In early April, I traveled to Wautoma, Wisconsin to observe a fourth grade student that attends
Parkside Middle School. I observed a nine year old male student during the first three hours of his
school day. Within these three hours he attended his daily classroom morning meeting, followed by
two electives; physical education and keyboarding. This seemed to be the less structured part of the
day and during this time he tended to act out and seek attention. Examples of this would be talking
out of turn during the share time in his morning meeting, refusing to stand and say the national
anthem, and continuously making different noises during the teachers lessons. After attending his
electives, the student went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than being inspired by the work of Freud, Kohlberg s theory of moral development is a
cognitive developmental theory was inspired by Piaget s stages of cognitive development.
Kohlberg s theory is made up of three different levels; the preconventional level, the conventional
level, and the postconventional or principled level. The three levels are each broken up into two
separate stages. For the purpose of this observation, we will be mainly focusing on the
preconventional level and the conventional level of moral development. Kohlberg intended the
preconventional level to be focused toward infants and preschool children, however the students
behavior more closely related to this level than that of the conventional level which is aimed toward
his age range. The preconventional level is where children learn that their actions have
consequences. The first stage of this level is the punishment and obedience orientation stage,
children in this stage are focusing on the consequences of their actions rather than the logical thing
to do. The following stage is the instrumental purpose orientation stage, within this stage children
tend to believe that if they do someone a favor, that person should do a favor in return (Berk

The Cause And Effects Of Climate Change
It is obvious that climate change is real, and humans are having an inordinate impact on the natural
processes of the earth. This impact is leading to changes in the storm system of the Atlantic Ocean.
The increase in overall global temperatures is leading to an increase in ocean surface temperatures.
When looking at the process of hurricane creation, it is clear that this increase in temperature will
affect the creation of tropical storms. Warmer oceans create more intense hurricanes. Also,
historical records provide definitive proof of an increase in hurricane activity in the Atlantic. Over
the past few centuries, increases in size, intensity and rainfall have been detected by thousands of
scientists. Scientific models such as those created by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change) suggest an increase in intensity of tropical cyclones due to anthropogenic changes.
These changes are detrimental to society and are a direct consequence of human induced climate
change. If climate change continues to worsen, so will the intensity and effect of tropical storms.
The increase in sea surface temperaturedue to human activity is unquestionably contributing to an
upsurge in intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes. When one looks at the science of how
hurricanes are formed from tropical storms, it is only logical that increased ocean temperatures will
increase the intensity. Tropical storms are formed when the air above the ocean cools faster than
the surface

One big problem with modern day technology, is that it is affecting our sleep. Most of us
technophile teens are used to falling to sleep with TV s light flickering a show to soothe us into

to feel heavy. For example, a recent poll by the National Sleep Foundation found that 95% of
people use some type of computer, video game, or cell phone at least a few nights a week within the

messing with their sleep patterns. Neuroscientists presume the glowing lights emitted by TV,

The Family Educational Rights And Privacy Act
A few years ago, an acquaintance received a stunning phone call from her daughter s former college
roommate. The conversation went something like this:
I thought you should know your daughter never graduated from college.
What? She claimed she was just skipping the ceremony.
Well, the truth is she didn t attend classes the last two years.
The parents were shellshocked, concerned and ultimately furious at the school. Why didn t they tell
us?
The answer is FERPA.
Passed in 1974, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act is an unwieldy piece of legislation
affecting all institutions that receive funding from the Department of Education.
Although it has been amended over the years, the law s bottom line remains: Once a student
reaches 18 years of age or attends a postsecondary institution, he or she becomes an eligible student
and all rights under FERPA transfer from the parent to the student.
This essentially means that you have no right, as a parent, to know what or how your children are
doing in school. They can binge watch True Detective rather than attend classes, never disclose
their grades, maybe become seriously anxious or depressed, and you have to take their word for it
when they say everything s fine.
For sons and daughters who move through college in four efficient years, the law has little
consequence. Unfortunately, even kids who never played hooky, told a lie or got less than a
B in high school can become socially and academically lost

The Right to Bear Arms Essay
The Right to Bear Arms How many of us want the U.S. government to have the right to tell us
what to do, and when w can do it. There are probably not many who would agree that the
government should have that right. Though having gun control laws is not to that extreme, some
would say it is the first step. Growing up in a small town, and also growing up with guns my
whole life I was one of those people who did not want gun control laws. Then after reading two
articles that discussed this topic I found that I have been ignorant about this subject. I read the
articles that discussed gun control by J. Warren Cassidy and Nan Desuka. In the first article The
Case for Firearms by J. Warren Cassidy, the author argues that the right to... Show more content on

Desuka also argues that owning a handgun is not protected under the Second Amendment The
Second Amendment may be fairly paraphrased thus : Because an organized militia is necessary
to the security of the State, the people have the right to possess weapons. But the owners of
handguns are not members of a well regulated militia ( 424). In this essay the author is banning
of some handguns. After reading each article and analyzing them, I found the Desuka essay to
be a better composed essay for several reasons. The first reason the Desuka essay is more
effective than Cassidy is, because Desuka tends to be more of a believable authority than does
Cassidy. Cassidy at the time of the essay was the NRA S ( National Rifle Association ) executive
vise president. The NRA is the biggest advocate for the right to bear arms. In his essay, Cassidy
seems to be more involved in trying to sell memberships for the NRA than trying to show why there
shouldn t be any gun control laws: There are better ways to advance our society than to excuse
criminal behavior. The NRA initiated the first hunter safety program, which has trained millions of
young hunters. We are the shooting sport s leading safety organization, with more than 26,000
certified instructors training 750,000 students, and trainers last year

Developments and Possiblilities of Solar Power
Solar power has been around for many years. The very first silicon based photovoltaic was
invented by Bell Labs back in 1954. At this time the cost per watt was high at $285 and in 2009
it dropped to a mere $3.00 per watt (Solar Tech USA, 2014). Solar energy dates back as far as the
2nd century with the Greeks and Romans starting fires through broken glass. Indirect benefits from
solar have been used way back to even photosynthesis (Bengtson, 2012). Passive solar energywas
used to heat building by using the design to capture the sunfor heating and lighting. Moving into
the 20th century major changes have accrued and there is now concentrating solar power
technologies for centralized solar thermal plants (Bengtson, 2012). The public believes that
solar is not yet ready to take charge and become a major source of power, yet some experts
disagree. Solar power in the 21st century has magnified many possibilities for solar use.
Photovoltaic has created a large economic benefit by reducing the cost of other resources as well
as its own for example solar heated water heaters have cut the cost of gas and electricity
(Bengtson, 2012). Germany is a great example of how solar is in huge demand and working well
to serve the consumers. Germany has 5 times the solar power the United States is currently using
although Germany does not get a great deal of sun (Brad Plumer, 2013). Germany is the world
leader in solar power and with the use of other renewable source has subsidized

Fisher s can also have a custom painted trailer with advertising on it for delivering and
transporting cars that have been restored. The trouble with this type of advertising will be
finding well known businesses willing to sponsor them and the cost of the ads. The other
concept that Fisher s can use is the retail and accessory market. Some of the different ways that it
can use this market would be by selling different types of products, for example, t shirts and hats.
Fisher s can design some one of a kind aftermarket kits for bumpers or hoods, or it can design its
own custom wheel with the new logo. The possibilities for the retail market can be almost
endless. The drawbacks to this type of market would be the product inventory, the shipping
process, and the product liability. With inventory, someone will be faced with inventory control
and taxes. Shipping would require someone responsible for boxing, labeling, and delivery. As
for product liability, the company may have to increase the amount of insurance should a
product fail and end up in a lawsuit. Choosing a combination of providing new services for boats
and RV s, introducing a new image, and implementing a new marketing strategy will work best
for Fisher s to get the competitive edge over its competition. Providing the new services to boats
and RV s will generate a higher profit because insurance companies have no set labor rate cost, so

Erich Fromm s The Art Of Loving
Love. Let this word sink deep into the abyss that is your mind for a moment. What thoughts, if
any, come rushing to the forefront? Is it your family, a girlfriend or boyfriend, an object? Love, it
is an all too powerful word that is often tossed around with reckless abandon in today s fast paced
and ever advancing society. The question is: is true lovesomething that is attainable in the world we
live in or are there too many obstacles in our path that mitigate the chance to find the greatest part
of what makes us human? Erich Fromm raises this question, among others, in his book The Art of
Loving.
To begin with, society today is as interconnected as it has ever been. With the advent of social
media, in all its forms, whether it is Snapchat or Twitter, a person in today s world can
communicate with anyone they please with a touch of a few buttons. The world is practically
in our pocket. Although it may seem like we are never alone, are individuals in our society
really more alone than ever? Is this aloneness the reason why nearly 49.1 percent of 12th graders
have turned to illicit drugs? According to Fromm this separateness is the very reason some
choose this route: While they try to escape from separateness by taking refuge in alcohol or drugs,
they feel all the more separate after the orgiastic experience is over, and thus are driven to take
recourse to it with increasing frequency and intensity. (Fromm 13) This aloneness, whether some

Why Cursive Should Still Be Taught In Schools
Cursive should still be tough in schools. One reason is most kids can not read or write in

They set the stage for future writing assignments, and will be on a variety of business concepts:
functions of management, financial statements, ethics, corporate social responsibility, strategy,
quality, case studies, etc. These lectures lay the groundwork for the writing assignments which
follow ― in other words, for Writing in the Discipline. The writing labs provide the student an
opportunity to hone their skills and develop the tools necessary for coherent writing. As
mentioned above, writing labs are conducted by Masters Degree and Ph.D. candidates. They are a
combination of lecture, in class exercises, participation, and Blackboard Learning Modules. The
labs afford an opportunity for students to become engaged with the material as they work on
format, style, and critical thinking. Attendance and participation is very important, and is a
substantial portion of the lab grade. Overall, the writing assignments can be classified as three
Papers (approximately four, six, and eight pages respectively), and ten Responses (approximately
500 words each). Details are provided in the Assignments section below.
Learning Objectives In addition to the four WID goals mentioned above, there are several
objectives that are specific to BABM 2003W, Analysis of Business Issues. Among these are the
following.

Angela Carter Story Analysis
Being the guardian or parent for a child is a very tough job. Since there is a great deal of
unimaginable incidents going on in the world, you don t want your child to be exposed to this
for the sake of keeping their innocence. Some people want their children to live in a world of
utopia, where everything is perfect and happy as they hope it would be. As time goes on and
children grow older, there comes a point where they will face the harsh reality whether they are
prepared for it or not. It s inevitable. All you can do is prepare them to confront the real world, by
doing this, children will morph into mature beings, ready to take on anything. To put this into
perspective, in Angela Carter s stories, such as The Tiger s Bride and The Bloody Chamber, each
protagonist starts off living a happy life, until they encounters an obstacle where they have to face
reality. As a result of dealing with these situations, young girls have jumped the hurdle into
maturity. After a careful reading of Angela Carter s stories, each story shows the journey of how
young women transition into maturity; however, in order for them to achieve this, they have to
confront the harsh reality of the world on their own. To start off, parents often fantasize about
keeping their children pure and innocent for the sake of protecting them from any harm, which
refrains them from entering maturing. Being able to leave this protection is the key to maturity.
This safeguard will only last for so long, until

Who Is Donald Trump A Good President
Grab them by the pussy! Donald J. Trump, the newly elected president of the United States is
known for his demeaning remarks against women and Latin American immigrants. Many people
believe that anyone who oversteps the boundaries of good taste and manner is unfit to be a leader
in a company or any organisation. However, proper manners are not what make a company
successful. A leader cannot care about every opinion if he bring his or his organization s agenda
forward.
Why do many people believe that leaders with personal indiscretions are unfit? The argument is
that they present a bad example for others. A leader who displays a lack of empathy will instill the
same in his followers. If my president does it, why shouldn t I, too? Supporters at Donald Trump s
rallies often became violent at protestors or immigrants, directly incinerated by Trump s speeches.

Analysis Of Money And Class In America By Lewis Lapham
In his book, Money and Class in America, Lewis Lapham states, The ardor of the American faith
in money easily surpasses the intensity achieved by other societies in other times and places. This
notion is the reoccurring theme in Lapham s book. America is so taken with the idea that without
money your achievements do not mean as much as they would if they came with a large sum of
cash. We as a society value money over more important qualities such as knowledge or integrity. If
you have wealthin America you are looked up too, you are respected. Lapham wrote seeing is
believing, and if an American success is to count for anything in the world it must be clothed in the
raiment of property. What Lapham is saying is, if you have money or... Show more content on

To be cool in America you have to have the newest smartphones, the coolest gadgets on the
market and the trendiest clothes. Obviously to get these things you need money, so if you don t
have extra money to splurge on a phone or a new jacket instead of the same holey jacket you ve
had for 5 years you re looked down on. You re branded as an outsider because you don t have
what everyone else has. Laphman states, As often as not it isn t the money itself that means
anything; it is the use of money as the currency of the soul. Lapham is saying that money isn t
the end objective for most people; it s the things they can buy with money that they want. In the
movie Clique, there were a group of very wealthy best friends that thought they were better then
everyone. As the movie went on you found out one of the friends was not as wealthy as the
others. You couldn t tell because she spent every penny she earned on fancy clothes or expensive
jewelry. She didn t want her friends to find out because she knew they thought poor people were
below them. That girl represents so many kids that want to fit in but they don t have the in
clothes or the nicer products in life. Those kids then go out and buy the trendy clothes, not
because they want them but because everyone else is wearing it. That same item of clothing that

Associate Professor Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad,
India Abstract for very high voltage gain of a Photo Voltaic system, this paper proposed a buck
boost inverter of single stage. DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and MPPT (maximum
power point tracking) is employed to get one power factor. Minimization of switching losses is
employed with only two switches and operated at very high frequency. Easy control capability,
optimum size, affordable cost with high voltage gain made the system employable. AC voltage
conversion is achieved along with boosting of DC voltage of Photo Voltaic system of inverter.
Obstacle shadow variations also reduced by means of having the possibility of reduced series
connected modules; this ability is due to the high voltage gain. Since the proposed design has the
two buck boost converter each one operates for only one half cycle and the Discontinuous
conduction mode operates at unit power factor. Simulation results assure the proposed idea of the
single stage interleaved inverter for high voltage gain applications. Index Terms Single Stage,
Buck Boost Inverter, Low Cost, Grid Connected, PV system, Simple Control, DCM, MPPT.

In-Depth Analysis Of The Lottery
My entire semester was devoted to the in depth analysis of the lottery, and the debate of it being a
blessing or a curse. In relation to the lottery and the controversy I thought it would be more
beneficial in this documentary project to actually show you, which brought me to animaker. In the
animated video I illustrate four characters, one which in fact wins the lotteryand becomes a different

There was pathos, when their friend was a prime examples of what happens to winners, as they in

facts that were elaborate on. Although, all point that were presented to the audience had a purpose,
the strongest appeal would have to be ethos. With the acknowledgment of facts, statistics, and

Private Benefit Analysis
Chief Justice Martin, writing for the majority, stated that [i]n addressing this question [of whether
or not the Program constitutes a public purpose,] we are mindful of the general proposition
articulated by this Court over forty five years ago: Unquestionably, the education of residents of
this State is a recognized object of State government. Further, the court emphasized the proper scope
of the long established definition of public purposes, instructing that [t]he term public purpose is
not to be narrowly construed. Despite these general propositions, the majority opinion made clear
that the Court has declined to confine public purpose by judicial definition, leaving each case to be

The dissent s argument was that if the Program is not delivering an education by North Carolina
standards, then it is wrong to characterize it as a public purpose. The majority opinion leaned
heavily on the inferential logic that education will always serve a public purpose, and, therefore,
the Program obviously qualified as a public purpose because it claims to serve an educational goal.
The dissent stressed that the majority missed a critical step in determining whether the Program
could constitutionally qualify as a public purpose. Justice Hudson noted that, while students
enrolled in private school may be receiving a fine education, in the eyes of their parents, if taxpayer
money is spent on a private school education that does not prepare them to function in and to
contribute to our state s society, that spending cannot be for public purposes only.

Personal Statement On Personal Finance
Knowledge about personal finance is not always common knowledge and although money
touches most modern homes, most parents don t teach their kids about money either. It can be
hard to find time in a busy schedule to figure out when and how to adjust your time to set up a
proper budget so instead you just decide to live pay check to paycheck because it got your
parents by and now it gets you by and that has just always worked. One day you have to grow up
and realize that those consequences of being financially stupid will come back to haunt you.
Introduction
The biggest issue that individuals have with their personal income is the lack of understanding
where and how to control their spending habits and sometimes when to pay bills. This causes a
great deal of anxiety, stress, depression, unkempt hygiene and possibly even losing the very job
that is keeping their income flowing in to start with. With couples, the number one cause of
relationship issues that are brought in front of a therapist and the number one cause of divorce
just so happens to be financially related. The hardest yet most important thing to do when it
comes to your finances, it to stop getting overwhelmed and take control back of your money and
your life. Most people don t know where to start when it comes to taking control of their finances.
When I think of the short term aspect of personal finances, I think of the here the now and the
coming few months, maybe even up to a year. If you are

and best of all I was speaking only Japanese the entire time. Overall it was such a great experience
being able to go to two different schools in two completely different countries.
Tell us about a time when you were excited about learning. What were you learning about? What

One time I was very excited about learning was a project that I did in math class called After

1.Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is
so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. My
whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. Throughout this
course, I have learned that I do not know what I want to do with my chosen major. I do not regret
majoring in Criminal Justicebecause I m positive I want to do something within the criminal
justice system. I have learned that I m open to different ideas and career paths. Through the
course, I have learned that I m a great multi tasker, I m always prepared ahead of time with my
deadlines and I never had to give excuses as to why something is not done on time.
a.I never expected to learn more than what this class had to offer. Even though the semester is

wearing sweatpants, baggy, flashy clothing, and I was okay with that because it s important to
feel comfortable. This semester, I have also learned that if you dress well you get the
respectable attention and needed. When I had the interview and had to dress up, I noticed many

Stepping out of my comfort zone has never felt so good. I believe this would help me in my

Globalization Of Mcdonaldization
McDonalds is a fast food company that was founded in the 1940 s. In McDonalds short
existence it has revolutionized not only the fast food industry, but the way in which business is
conducted world wide. What the McDonald brothers and then Ray Kroc set out to accomplish
was a business model that standardized all aspects of operation, in order to make expansion
effortless. So great their power of growth that McDonalds now has over 31 thousand stores in
over 118 countries. So iconic that the average US school child can recognize Ronald McDonald.
Ritzer describes McDonaldization as ...the process by which the principles of the fast food
restaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of the
rest of the world (Ritzer, 1993:1). This penetration by the ideal of McDonaldization can be seen
in our school system. School systems are moving towards producing graduates, as apposed to
imparting knowledge. Currently in the US we have over 13,000 McDonalds, and according to
Ritzer the US only contains half of the worlds McDonalds (Ritzer, 2013:287). These figures show
that globally we are moving towards producing for consumers, standardized products. McDonald s
has become a company that incorporated economics, psychology and sociology in its business plan
to dominate the world of fast food. One in which many other enterprises try to emulate. American
culture has gained from the advent of McDonaldization . We have gained access to a larger supply
of goods at competitive cost. We have gained safety from increased standardization. However, the
American culture has suffered negatives from McDonaldization . The process of Mcdonaldization
extracts all that is unique about the different cultures of the world, and creates a homogenized
world with the sole goal of creating a consumer society. In this paper what the world has lost
through Mcdonaldization in contrast to what it has gained will be discussed. Also the dangers of
creating a consumer society.
Negatives to McDonaldization While eating at McDonalds it may feel as if we are surrounded
with countless choices, but in fact through the process of McDonaldization many of these choices
are made for us. McDonalds in effort to

Children s Child Welfare Reform Essay
In 1980, about 500,000 children were in foster care, but a series of successful reforms began with
that year s Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act which dramatically decreased the number
of children in foster care. But in the early 1990s, with the advent of crack cocaine and an
economic recession numbers went back up. Child welfare advocates said that the foster caresystem
was in need of changes so that children spend less time in foster placements and that America s
child welfare system needed an improvement. Some children in care were separated from their
siblings, others transitioned from one foster care placement to another, never knowing where to call
home. Too many children were being abused in systems that were supposed to protect them. Instead
of being safely reunified with their families or moved quickly into adoptive homes many remained
in foster homes or institutions for years.
In 2014, over 650,000 children spent time in the child welfare foster care system. On average,
children remain in state care for nearly two years and seven percent of children in foster care
remain in foster care for five years or more. The majority of children in foster care are very
young, the average age of children in care is around the age of nine. In 2014, more than half of
children entering the United States foster care system were children of color. While most children
in foster care reside with family in the present time, 14 percent of minorities live in institutions or

Arrogance Of Greek Heroes In Odyssey, Aeneid, And
Arrogance of Greek Heroes
Often readers will criticize the champions of classical and medieval epics for egotism. Critics cite
examples from the Odyssey, the Aeneid, and Beowulf of conceit and egocentric behavior.
Odysseus, Aeneas, and Beowulf display a well known arrogance befitting their accomplishments.
The motivation for this arrogance, to complete these tasks, to perform these feats, is often over
generalized to the point of inaccuracy and confusion. One must not let such misinterpretations
interrupt the humanization of these characters. Through the examination of the desires and
behavior of these epic heroes, we can discover an underlying need for recognition or honor. In

Civil Disobedience, Moral Responsibility of a Citizen? Yes, civil disobedience is a moral
responsibility of a citizen because, if a large group of people do not agree with a law because it
is random, illogical or suppressive then it falls on them to provoke a change. Civil disobedience

Gandhi was a huge reason Britain left India. A point that Gandhi made for being civilly
disobedient was satyagraha and it is insistence on truth, a way of reform with nonviolent actions.
One who resorts to it does not have to break another s head; he may merely have his own head
broken. He has to be prepared to die himself suffering all the pain (Civil Disobedience). This is a
form of countering an unjust law with civil disobedience because you are breaking that law,
peacefully and provoking a response from the government. You are not performing a violent action
that causes harm. Thus provoking a response from the government means it is working, and not

Michael Hyman s The Ethics Of Psychoactive Ads
When companies are making an ad for a product. One of their goals is to make it sound like the
best thing ever and if you don t buy it your regret it. The other is to make it so people can
understand and relate to it in an instant. They need to meet both of these goals so that the
product or service that they are trying to sale has the highest possible chance of getting sold. So
in order to accomplice both of the goals they need to implement different strategies and
techniques. According to The Ethics Of Psychoactive Ads by Michael Hyman, There are three
simple practices that greatly increase the effectiveness of an advertisement. The first is to aim the
ad at the average person and not worry about specific situations that good make your ad look bad.
This is because the ad will encourage more people to get the product or service and also its

example comes from the same journal when they show an ad from 1936 where they have a
black person helping a white guy with his bags at a hotel. When most people thought a service
worker at a hotel they thought of someone like him and because of this serotype the ad has no
reason to explain it the reader already knows. The other part is making a person relate to the
people in the ad. They do this by targeting a specific group of people. The journal Caveat Emptor:
Let the Buyer Beware does a great job showing this, If a company wants to sell its product to

Myer Briggs Test
When I first took the Myer Briggs personality test I was unsure about what this test would

It s not like I m complaining about the good grade. Anyway, this train of thought was casually
making its way through my head before Mike, my quote on quote best friend , bluntly interrupted

  • 2. Theoretical Cause Of Crime A thorough understanding of the many theories of criminology is the grounding of knowledge to any criminal justice practitioner or policy maker. Policy makers can utilize the theoretical understanding to design policies that not only address remedies to the current crime problem, but also find the underlying cause of crimeto further deter it. Criminal justice practitioners can use criminological theories to address the cause of crime and offer a rehabilitative fix, rather than simply incarcerate offenders. Four theoretical aspects that any criminal theory must incorporate to be a true theory of crime are correlation, theoretical rationale, time sequence, and an absence of spuriousness (Akers Sellers, 2013). Correlation must do with how the theoretical cause of crime leads to the commission of crime. Theoretical rationale explains why the theoretical origin of crime causes the crime. The time sequence must show that the theoretical cause of crime always precedes the crime. The final aspect, the absence of spuriousness, rules out other causes for the crime as the real explanation of crime. (Akers Sellers, 2013). A major challenge that faces the criminal justice field today are youth gangs. Strain Theory is perhaps the best theoretical explanation of juvenile gang criminal activity. Agnew clarified strain as the relationships in which others are not treating the individual as he or she would like to be treated. (Tibbetts, 2015). Though this is the original definition, ... • 3. Research Paper On Child Slavery Child Slavery Up until the 13th amendment, owning a slave had been just like owning any other piece of property. No one felt guilty about how the slaves were being mistreated. The 13th amendment was the first step in ending slavery in the United States, but no steps were taken to end slavery in other countries. Even though people believe that slaveryno longer exists today, about 5.5 million children are still held captive in slavery (Anti Slavery International 2012). Child slavery can come in many different forms. There are a few differences between child work, child labor, and child slavery. Child work is beneficial to the child. Work can be used to gain skills or knowledge that is essential for the child growing up. Work can also be a source of income for a family. Child labor is the child being taken away from an education and development. An example of child labor would be a ten year old child working for a company when the labor laws say that the minimum working age is 15. The worst form of child labor is when the child is doing hazardous work. Any work that is dangerous to the child is considered hazardous work. Slavery and slavery like practices are the major and most common types of child labor. Child trafficking is transporting children away from their homes and families, so they can be exploited for sex or labor. The children are left vulnerable and at the mercy of their employers (Anti Slavery International). In 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The War That Didn t End All Wars Four years, three months and two weeks later, in 1918, the global series of destructive events, known as World War 1, that had begun when Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the throne of Austria Hungary finally came to an end. Resulting in the victory of the allied forces, establishing a safer place for democracy for a very short period of time. However it was not without a fight that this achievement came about, millions of troops lost their lives to the deadly chemical weapons, tanks and other weaponry. The war had so many devastating effects that British author H. G. Wells called it The war to end war , which now can be seen as an erroneous comment. In his article, The War That Didn t End All Wars war studies professor at King s college London, Sir Lawrence D. Freedman, quotes George Kennan s words to describe the war as the great seminal catastrophe as the Great War led to the creation of a broken intergovernmental organization known as the League of Nation, left Germany completely destroyed financially and contributed to the collapse of the Austrian, Turkish and Russian Empire. World War 1 did not end war; instead it not only paved the way for the biggest war in history of mankind, World War 2, but also one of the worst genocides the world has ever seen, the Holocaust. The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers Conservation Study While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the Younger and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into topics such as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and conservation efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of presentation. The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and Teniers ever collaborated with each other (Woll.) As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here, however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no mention of Brueghel (Huskinson). The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details through techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used to obtain information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared reflectography, and x ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop. Infrared can be used to see through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details in the painting that may have changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). However Welcome to Nightvale s narrative realism which influences an audience s reactions to horror and fear is lessened through the use of Absurdism. Absurdist imagery such as in episode 2 GLOW CLOUD a lion, like the kind you see on the sun baked plains of Africa or a pee stained enclosure at a local zoo, fell on top of the White Sand Ice Cream Shop allows the reader to separate themselves from the horror within an episode and instead connect with the philosophical intentions of Finke and Cranor, which is that sometimes you go through things that seem huge at the time as a mysterious glowing cloud devouring your entire community. • 12. The Cause And Effects Of Climate Change It is obvious that climate change is real, and humans are having an inordinate impact on the natural processes of the earth. This impact is leading to changes in the storm system of the Atlantic Ocean. The increase in overall global temperatures is leading to an increase in ocean surface temperatures. When looking at the process of hurricane creation, it is clear that this increase in temperature will affect the creation of tropical storms. Warmer oceans create more intense hurricanes. Also, historical records provide definitive proof of an increase in hurricane activity in the Atlantic. Over the past few centuries, increases in size, intensity and rainfall have been detected by thousands of scientists. Scientific models such as those created by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) suggest an increase in intensity of tropical cyclones due to anthropogenic changes. These changes are detrimental to society and are a direct consequence of human induced climate change. If climate change continues to worsen, so will the intensity and effect of tropical storms. The increase in sea surface temperaturedue to human activity is unquestionably contributing to an upsurge in intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes. When one looks at the science of how hurricanes are formed from tropical storms, it is only logical that increased ocean temperatures will increase the intensity. Well, the truth is she didn t attend classes the last two years. The parents were shellshocked, concerned and ultimately furious at the school. Why didn t they tell us? The answer is FERPA. Passed in 1974, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act is an unwieldy piece of legislation affecting all institutions that receive funding from the Department of Education. Although it has been amended over the years, the law s bottom line remains: Once a student reaches 18 years of age or attends a postsecondary institution, he or she becomes an eligible student and all rights under FERPA transfer from the parent to the student. This essentially means that you have no right, as a parent, to know what or how your children are doing in school. They can binge watch True Detective rather than attend classes, never disclose their grades, maybe become seriously anxious or depressed, and you have to take their word for it when they say everything s fine. At this time the cost per watt was high at $285 and in 2009 it dropped to a mere $3.00 per watt (Solar Tech USA, 2014). Solar energy dates back as far as the 2nd century with the Greeks and Romans starting fires through broken glass. Indirect benefits from solar have been used way back to even photosynthesis (Bengtson, 2012). Passive solar energywas used to heat building by using the design to capture the sunfor heating and lighting. The public believes that solar is not yet ready to take charge and become a major source of power, yet some experts disagree. Solar power in the 21st century has magnified many possibilities for solar use. Photovoltaic has created a large economic benefit by reducing the cost of other resources as well as its own for example solar heated water heaters have cut the cost of gas and electricity (Bengtson, 2012). Since there is a great deal of unimaginable incidents going on in the world, you don t want your child to be exposed to this for the sake of keeping their innocence. Some people want their children to live in a world of utopia, where everything is perfect and happy as they hope it would be. As time goes on and children grow older, there comes a point where they will face the harsh reality whether they are prepared for it or not. It s inevitable. All you can do is prepare them to confront the real world, by doing this, children will morph into mature beings, ready to take on anything. To put this into perspective, in Angela Carter s stories, such as The Tiger s Bride and The Bloody Chamber, each protagonist starts off living a happy life, until they encounters an obstacle where they have to face reality. As a result of dealing with these situations, young girls have jumped the hurdle into maturity. After a careful reading of Angela Carter s stories, each story shows the journey of how young women transition into maturity; however, in order for them to achieve this, they have to confront the harsh reality of the world on their own. Trump, the newly elected president of the United States is known for his demeaning remarks against women and Latin American immigrants. Many people believe that anyone who oversteps the boundaries of good taste and manner is unfit to be a leader in a company or any organisation. However, proper manners are not what make a company successful. A leader cannot care about every opinion if he bring his or his organization s agenda forward. Why do many people believe that leaders with personal indiscretions are unfit? The argument is that they present a bad example for others. A leader who displays a lack of empathy will instill the same in his followers. If my president does it, why shouldn t I, too? Analysis Of Money And Class In America By Lewis Lapham In his book, Money and Class in America, Lewis Lapham states, The ardor of the American faith in money easily surpasses the intensity achieved by other societies in other times and places. This notion is the reoccurring theme in Lapham s book. America is so taken with the idea that without money your achievements do not mean as much as they would if they came with a large sum of cash. We as a society value money over more important qualities such as knowledge or integrity. If you have wealthin America you are looked up too, you are respected. You re branded as an outsider because you don t have what everyone else has. Grid Connected Photovoltaic System With Single Stage Buck... пЂ Grid Connected Photovoltaic System with Single stage Buck Boost Inverter Ch.Srinivas Reddy, Assistant Professor; Ranga Purushotham, Associate Professor; and P.Parthasaradi Reddy, Associate Professor Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad, India Abstract for very high voltage gain of a Photo Voltaic system, this paper proposed a buck boost inverter of single stage. DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) and MPPT (maximum power point tracking) is employed to get one power factor. Minimization of switching losses is employed with only two switches and operated at very high frequency. Easy control capability, optimum size, affordable cost with high voltage gain made the system employable. AC voltage conversion is achieved along with boosting of DC voltage of Photo Voltaic system of inverter. Obstacle shadow variations also reduced by means of having the possibility of reduced series connected modules; this ability is due to the high voltage gain. Since the proposed design has the two buck boost converter each one operates for only one half cycle and the Discontinuous conduction mode operates at unit power factor. Simulation results assure the proposed idea of the single stage interleaved inverter for high voltage gain applications. But in the early 1990s, with the advent of crack cocaine and an economic recession numbers went back up. Child welfare advocates said that the foster caresystem was in need of changes so that children spend less time in foster placements and that America s child welfare system needed an improvement. Some children in care were separated from their siblings, others transitioned from one foster care placement to another, never knowing where to call home.
