Essay on The Development of Afro-Brazilian Religions
The origin of Afro Brazilian religions is traced back to the Atlantic slave trade that took place in the
16th century . Portuguese people captured individuals from Bantu tribes and the other West African
communities. The slave trade involved the transfer of these people to Brazil, where they were sold as
slaves. The interaction of slaves from different cultural and religious backgrounds led to the
development of the Afro Brazilian religions that consequently spread all over Brazil. The religions did
not; however, develop at once since they faced opposition from the then government that recognized
the Roman Catholic as the only religion in Brazil. Attempts by Africans to worship in their own
culture were counteracted until in 1824 when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slaves were therefore regarded as more educated than their masters due to their ability to read and
write in Arabic. The slaves were transported to Bahia, a town in Brazil, where they provided labor for
the Brazilians . The Bantu slaves were mainly drawn from the Congo and Angola where they survived
as agriculturalists before they were captured and sold as slaves. The slaves were sold to Brazil to work
in the large sugar plantations.
Candomblé
This is a traditional Brazil religion practiced by the Africans communities living there . The dance was
performed to appease their gods. It is done in traditional styles derived from the Yoruba and Bantu
traditions. The songs and dances were developed by African priests who were traded as slaves. The
priests had strong African beliefs and had gained great experience on the task thus they could easily
influence more followers. The religion had no formal scripture and the priests used the word of mouth
to pass their message to their congregations. The believers were followers of a god by the name
Oludumaré who they asserted was their creator. The oludumare has his servants called the Orishas.
The Orishas are in every person and every Orisha is assigned an individual to offer protection. The
believers organize a number of ceremonies each year to commemorate some important events. In the
ceremonies, Candomblé songs fill the air. The believers also offer offerings to their

Single Sex Instruction Is An Old Approach That Is...
Single sex instruction is an old approach that is increasing new force. While single sex instruction has
since a long time ago existed in numerous non public schools, it s a moderately new choice for state
funded schools. The National Association for Single Sex Public Education gauges that around 400
government funded schools now offer some type of single sex training. What is filling this
development? What s more, what are the dangers and advantages of single sex training?
A main impetus in the single sex training development is late research demonstrating regular contrasts
in how guys and females learn. Putting this examination into practice, in any case, has set off a level
headed discussion that develops past unadulterated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some guardians don t need their kids to be in blended sexual orientation classrooms in light of the fact
that, particularly at specific ages, understudies of the inverse sex can be a diversion.
Leonard Sax and others concur that simply setting young men in isolated classrooms from young
ladies achieves little. Be that as it may, single sex training upgrades understudy achievement when
educators use procedures intended for the sex of their understudies.
Some examination demonstrates that young ladies learn better when classroom temperature is warm,
while young men perform better in cooler classrooms. On the off chance that that is valid, then the
temperature in a solitary sex classroom could be set to streamline the learning of either male or female
understudies.
Some exploration and reports from teachers propose that solitary sex training can widen the
instructive prospects for both young ladies and young men. Advocates claim co ed schools have a
tendency to strengthen sexual

American Culture And Ruth s Irish Culture
On this occasion, I found that my American culture and Ruth s Irish culture were actually quite
different from our cultures as a while, but nonetheless comparable. We both share a strong (or high)
uncertainty avoidance... [preferring] clear procedures and conflict avoidance behaviors (Ting Toomey
Chung, p. 50). , which is something the United States culture is not known for. However, upon
reflecting on the conversation that Ruth and I shared with our friend, neither of us openly
demonstrated how uncomfortable we were with our friends bragging. We preferred instead to preform
face saving motions, like congratulating them and acting interested. I think that sometimes our own
personality and experiences can cause us to act in ways that may go against the mainstream culture.
So when it comes to Ruth and I, maybe we simply have a stronger personality to avoid conflict than
the cultures we may have been socialized in.
When it comes to this conversation with our friend, and the fact that Ruth and I both tend to avoid
conflict. Although, Ruth was visible uncomfortable with the bragging our friend was doing, she
understood that she needed to be adaptive and realize that our friend may not understand that what
they are doing could be uncomfortable. However, Ruth s nonverbal display of awkward glances at our
friend and I, did give away that she was not completely adaptable. Given this, I think it is important
for people to understand that we must express emotions and attitudes

The purpose of this article, called Technology is The Cause of Fake News But It s The Solution Too
written by Seth Freeman, was written to educate the public on how fake news is getting spread.
Freeman focuses his main attention on the people that were behind screens and that were quiet and
virtually invisible. Throughout Freeman s piece of writing he uses several examples for his method.
One example, Freeman refers to a former Soviet state of Georgia and from Macedonia, where
Freeman states that a teenagers discovered that they could make a lot of money by publicizing
nonsense information, which could not be found anywhere else, in favor of one candidate. He also
states that in Bloomberg, hackers were able to skew interests in and support

Dawson Lumber Company
Last four digits of student ID #:
Name of the business: Dawson Lumber Company
Nature of the business: Wholesale Lumber Business
Marketing Analysis:
The Dawson Lumber Company was founded in the 1870s by the Dawson family to market the lumber
on their land. In 1950, Dawson Lumber owned four small lumber yards in the Corn wall area, each
operating as a separate company. However, in 1965, J.H. Dawson became president and amalgamated
the four companies into the Dawson Lumber Company. The company had acquired seven more
lumber yards north and west of Cornwall, Ontario but further growth was limited by J.H. Dawson s
belief that growth should only be financed by internally generated funds. For over one hundred years,

Financial Analysis:
Strictly speaking, at present the Dawson Lumber Company is being financed by a bank loan. The
company s equity structure constitutes common stock capital amounting to $4.3 million and the
accumulated earnings. Presently, the company s financing needs are met through two types of bank
loans which include a working capital loan obtained specifically to meet the working capital
requirements and the present long term loan amounting to 4.2 million. Both the loans are obtained
from National bank of Canada (NBC). The NBC took accounts receivable and inventory as collateral
and as a condition of the loan against the charge on the borrowed amount for which Dawson
undertook to provide quarterly financial statements and monthly reports of inventory, sales and
receivables.
Now as far as the company s cash flow is concerned, the company has been suffered with very weak
cash flows because inventory and receivables have increased which result in negative cash flows and
due to increased in accounts payable resulting in positive cash flow thus overall cash generated from
operations remain intact. However as mentioned above it is operational inefficiency due to delay in
collection from customers resulting in delay in payments to creditor. The current ratio is at satisfactory
level.
If we talk about the company s

The Impact Of European Exploration And Colonization On...
Although the natives might have never made it to modern day like customs, the impact of the
European exploration and colonization on the native people was through the conversion to
Christianity; death/diseases; and the exchanges and teachings towards Natives. Without all the
modifications the Europeans made on the Natives, and also colonizing in the Americas we wouldn t
have mixed race population or event the today s united states. If the European explorers never came

Wind In The Willows Map Analysis
On page 30, we see the map that shows how limited the scope of her father s life was. The map is
drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling the
locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The text box
overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the reader that this
impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we have only seen it as
misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the very next panel, we see an
image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his family is to stray from their small
town. The impression we are left with is that their home life is somewhat suffocating, especially as ...

By doing so, Bechdel has linked her father to Mr. Toad, whom she calls a charming sociopath
(Bechdel 130). This link between Mr. Toad and Bruce Bechdel is significant in that Wind in the

Alison draws parallels between the maps of both her home landscape and the setting of the children s
novels. The image of Mr. Toad, perhaps still with the thought of Bruce linked to him, speeding
towards the edge of the map in still life, also functions as a metaphor for her father s existence as he
too became disenchanted (147). Three people were killed in a car crash on a highway that summer, the
same highway her father would die on nine years later, and the impact of this event clearly has an
influenced the way Alison processed the information. Mr. Toad, the boy around her age who died, and
her father all become linked together in memory and association, as Alison processes their relationship

The European Union
The European Union is committed to a challenging renewable energy goal of at least 27% of final
energy consumption by renewable sources by 2030. While this goal is in part motivated by
environmentally concerns, with commitments to climate change in mind, it is also politically
motivated. Europe energy needs are currently heavily dependent on natural gas, which is mostly
imported from Russia. This arrangement puts Europe in danger from Russian blockades and political
pressure. The crash of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 renewed tensions between Brussels and
Moscow. EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger has stated that a 30% energy reduction
would prove a useful tool in ensuring European energy security. While there are plentiful
opportunities for varied sources of renewable energy generation across Europe, issues arise in
supplying this energy to the end consumer. The electrical transmission system has the difficult
challenge of matching the current supply to the demand of the system by matching deficiencies in one
area of production with abundances in another. In Europe this transmission system is comprised of
multiple national transmission operators in a large central network with some additional mostly
isolated networks. Increasing interconnection between these networks should result in increased
efficiencies and robustness of the overall system. Additionally, the rise of electrically powered
vehicles (EVs) will shift the considerable energy demand that is

Under The Dome Stephen King
Stephen King s Under the Dome presents a unique story that is both thought provoking and
entertaining. The introduction of the dome creates compelling social dynamics that would otherwise
not have been possible. In many ways the dome is a microcosm of earth complete with its own
conflicts, environmental disasters, and just about every social issue imaginable. The alien entities were
equally thought provoking. From their perspective humans were nothing more than ants to be toyed
with. They had no empathy or compassion, only pity. Julia Shumway s interaction with the entity
causes an introspective evaluation on how we treat other people.
James Big Jim Rennie steals the show as the novel s villain. Rennie is a bit of a paradox. On one hand

The Cud Life Concert Analysis
A few years ago, my cousin decided to take me to a concert as a birthday gift and I was so excited
because it was going to be my first concert which was a huge deal. We went to go see hip hop artist,
Kid Cudi on his The Cud Life tour. Prior to the concert, I had heard maybe one or two albums of his
but I didn t really love him as much as my cousins did. After the concert, my life had been changed for
I had been blessed; I was in the presence of a god. I remember, there was a point in which he was
talking to the crowd and told us to forget about all of our problems and that that night was just about
feeling good vibes and nothing less. Many people don t know who Kid Cudi is; some people think he
is just the product of Kanye West, (another hip hop artist who took Cudi under his wing at the
beginning of his music career), or they think of him as a one hit wonder for his single, Day N Nite ,
(which has a really bouncy, upbeat vibe and usually people play this song at clubs and parties) off of
his most popular album, Man on The Moon: The End of Day . What people fail to realize is that Kid
Cudi is actually a talented artist who has a legendary soul and the heart of a lion, and yes, his music
could be rather explicit at times but that s part of what makes him great. ... Show more content on

Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The fact
is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses
the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three
terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as OWI
(Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII (Driving
under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI (Driving
While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the prevalence of
drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated continues to increase.
Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as Independence Day, St. Patrick
s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police officers got 41 drunks out of 1300
vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and this number did not include North KC,
Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

How Is Bilbo A Hero
Many authors communicate to the reader through fictional stories known as myths. These myths, set
in a fictional place or time, are able to identify problems with society today. The popular novel The
Hobbit is a great example of a myth criticizing society today. Although it takes place in a fantasy land
and has creatures that do not exist, it criticizes how we as humans should live our lives as well as
telling us what it means to be a hero. The Hobbit tells us that we should take risks and experience new
paths to make us have a better character. A hobbit is a peaceful creature that likes to live in holes in the

Changes In African American Culture
All throughout American history, there have been many conflicts involving equality and obeying the
social norms. Women and African Americans are the citizens that have faced the most adversity in
these problems, but they both also have overcame these adversities and made changes that would go
on to change the nation forever. Before World War II, women faced pressure from society to stay at
home and support a family while their husbands worked and had fun, and they lacked the rights and
respect that men were already granted. Also before World War II, African Americans were isolated
from society and had no rights, until the Harlem Renaissance when their culture swept across
America. After World War II, women were still pressured to conform to ... Show more content on

Women were expected to marry at very early ages, usually between 17 and 20 and they were still to
slave at home for their husbands and children. Women previously had fought for higher education, but
suddenly they were going to college to meet a husband, or they were not going to college at all, as
they feared higher education would make marriage more difficult (Friedan, 1963). Women were gladly
conforming to these expectations as they all aimed to have four or five kids, live in a suburban
neighborhood where they could kiss their husband goodbye as they left for work and they could cook
and clean while their children were at school. Many women even turned down job opportunities and
claimed it was because all they ever wanted was to be a housewife (Friedan, 1963). However, women
slowly began to realize their conformity was not what they wanted for themselves at all. In the 1960 s,
many housewives reported that they had felt there was no point in their day to day routines, they had
felt depressed in their own homes without a clue why, and getting so angry with their children it
scared them. These women were afraid to admit that they wanted more for themselves besides their
husband and children (Friedan, 1963). However, women were able to fight this expectation through
the sexual liberation movement. The women were empowered by this movement because it gave them

The Parti Quebecois Stance On Religious Symbols
The Parti Quebecois stance on religious symbols is that public employees and members of
Government should be banned from wearing visible religious symbols. The Parti Quebecois believes
that this would allow everyone to be treated equally, get rid of religious bias and protect religious
neutrality. However, this would not support the multiculturalism in canada. Multiculturalism
recognizes and supports the diversity of a province or nation s population. This ban on religious
symbols goes against that by restricting people s right to practice religion and freedom of speech. In
addition, this ban does not impact all religion equally and takes away a major part of what makes us
different. Implications of such a ban can be disastrous. One of the main side effects of such a ban
would be the lack of religious tolerance. This is something that we struggle with to this day however,
by banning religious symbols in public spaces would be crossing the line so to speak. Currently people

The biggest issue with this ban is that it does not impact all religions equally. A person in Buddhism
can still live their lives without much of a change, but a person following Islam will have a harder
time adapting to these changes, reason being is that Islam has more visible symbols than most other
religions. Some examples of of symbols in Islam include Hijabs, Burqas, Chadors and the crescent
moon and star. Whereas, in Buddhism for example, you have the Dharma wheel, Buddha, or orange

are clothing or headwear. The clothing that the women in Islam wear are symbols of modesty, you can

The Importance Of Diversity In The Workplace
Men are 30% more likely to be hired for a high level position job than women (Stutes). Jobs
discriminate and separate genders, races, etc. in a workplace. This is not fair because it should not
matter what you look like or who you are, we should all be treated the same no matter what. It is hard
for someone to get a job because bosses can discriminate and that makes people not succeed. You

you are the gender the boss wants. Diversity should be acknowledged so everyone can have a chance
to make a living and support their families. Companies need to be fair and treat everyone equally and
not just by looks. Diversity means that everyone works together no matter what race, culture, gender
they are. Workplaces should have diversity taken place in them so they succeed and people have to
work with others no matter what. It shouldn t be about the looks or beliefs, it s about supporting your
family and working together to create one goal. Diversity is becoming a big part of our world and it
should continue as companies are growing and hiring. 67% of bosses and job seekers seek for diverse
workplaces (Stutes). That still leaves room for 33% of bosses that are against having diverse workers.
This shows that companies are against a certain race and gender. That should not be present.
Continuing, diverse workplaces provide families with the money they need to survive.

We Have NOT Done Enough to Respond to the Legacies of...
From what I have learned so far it appears that contemporary society has responded to the legacies of
historical globalization, yet it hasn t done quite enough to satisfy the concerned and affected. I would
have to disagree to this statement, there are still some problems I believe needing to be addressed.
Reasoning I have chosen the position of disagree because although contemporary society has
responded to legacies of historical globalization, I think we haven t done enough yet. Although we
have definitely moved away from a Eurocentric perspective there are definitely some undertones that
remain evident in our everyday society over almost all countries. Even today there are some very
strong examples of how contemporary society has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The debate statement Contemporary society has done enough to respond to the legacies of historical
globalization is a pretty bold statement. I for one believe that we haven t done anywhere close to
enough to have responded to the legacies of a dark past, but at the very least we have started to. There
have been horrible acts committed all over our world for numerous reasons, and a lot of the time they
carry over undertones from historical globalization. It s up to our society as a whole to begin
effectively healing the wounds left from the past. Examples Africa nowadays is viewed as a pretty
poor continent, but if it were not for a single event, it wouldn t be in the shape it is today. This event is
best known as the scramble for Africa. The European powers had begun taking land after King
Léopold the second claimed that initial piece of land. European powers gathered in 1884 to discuss
which part of Africa were theirs to avoid fighting, however this was done between European countries,
and the thought of even inviting a spokesperson from Africa was beyond them. The people of Africa
were enslaved and forced to work the land for natural resources such as rubber and diamond. After the
European powers claimed all that they could, two independent countries remained. These two
countries were Liberia and Ethiopia. The Eurocentric perspective that the European powers had at the
time allowed for them to commit these horrible acts and see nothing wrong with what they had

The Brazilian Culture Of Brazil Essay
Much like the U.S., Brazilian culture is extremely diverse. Brazil s current population of 190 million
represents various nationalities from European to African (Country Facts). Brazil has an extremely
diverse culture with some common pervasive threads that grouped together give Brazil a national
identity.
The concept of aesthetics describes what people of certain cultures tend to consider to be popular or in
good taste (Wild Wild, 2014). To this extent, despite being mostly unified by a single language, Brazil
represents such a diverse culture that regional aesthetic variances could almost seem like they were
different countries altogether (Castano, Goossens, Terlouw, and Vliet, n.d.). According to
Encyclopedia Britannica, of all the cultures that make up the Brazilian way of life, the Portuguese
culture is the dominant influence and provides the main language, religion, and many customs.
Indigenous Indians and African influences are also apparent in some forms, especially in certain parts
of the country.
If one were to ask a Brazilian what symbols they feel would represent the culture of Brazil,
Everyculture.com states that most in the country would view soccer, family, and the four day national
party called Carnival as the symbols of Brazil s passion and free spirit. Values are those ideas and
beliefs to which people are emotionally attached (Wild Wild, 2014), and to that end Brazilians have a
very strong focus on family. Families in Brazil are typically large,

Slumdog Millionaire Essay
Zhane Garcia Prof. Jocks Stelzer ENG 111 13 January, 2015 The Three Musketeer s In the Slum of
India The film Slumdog Millionaire narrates a story about the life of eighteen year old Jamal Malik,
his brother Salim, and friend Latika and how life was growing up in the slum of India. The film takes
place in Mumbai, India where Jamal is on a TV show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and is one
question away from becoming the next millionaire. Unfortunately, the host of the popular Indian show
has a difficult time believing Jamal, an uneducated young boy from the slums, could have made it this
far. Throughout the film, we go back in time to Jamal s first appearance on show; with every question
Jamal is asked, we are taken back even further to Jamal s childhood and the occurrences in his life that
lead to him to knowing the answers to each of the challenging questions on the famous game show.
Fairly quickly in to the movie, there is a distinct difference with Jamal and his brother Salim. Jamal
can be characterized as a soft and careful child, while on the other hand, Salim is just the opposite.
One scene in particular, when Jamal lost his mother after an invasion of their slum, which is when the
character Latika was introduced, Latika had fallowed Jamal and Salim after the invasion as a ... Show

Begging, stealing and growing up in the slum is what lead Jamal to find all the answers to the famous
game show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Most importantly, the Malik brothers showed great love
and loyalty to each other throughout the film. Even though Salim may have ventured off to become a
gangster and make bad decision that impacted his life, he found a way to redeem himself by helping
Latika escape knowing it will cost him his life. Salim makes the sacrifice for his brother as an apology
for all the wrong he has done to him throughout the

History Of The Portland Head Light Lighthouse
Cape Elizabeth, Maine is the perfect, picturesque town. The million dollar houses are immaculate, the
ocean views are stunning, and if that s not enough, the Portland Head Light Lighthouse provides it
with just the right amount of tourist appeal. The Portland Head Light is the oldest lighthouse in Maine
and has been guiding traffic into Portland Harbor for more than two hundred years. The idea for the
lighthouse came about after a shipwreck in 1787, but wasn t completed until after the First Congress
passed the Lighthouse Act in 1789, which placed lighthouses under the control of the federal
government. On January 10, 1791, the Portland Head Light was officially put into commission, after
President George Washington authorized the use of $1,500

Ethical Ethics Of Ethical Hacking
Abstract
In today s interconnect world the threats posed by hackers is growing. One of many tools
organizations have at their disposal is a unique group of hackers. Ethical or White Hat Hackers intent
is to discover vulnerabilities from a malicious attacker s viewpoint. Ethical hacking involves the same
tools, tricks, and techniques that malicious hackers utilize. White Hat Hackers use penetration testing
in order to test the security of an organizations communications infrastructure. The one difference is
White Hat hackers have the organizations permission to test the vulnerability of the organizations
systems. Ethical hacking is one part of an organizations overall information risk management
program. Ethical hacking allows the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person only needs to look at the news daily to see that not one person or organization is safe from
the threat posed by hackers. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) information stolen recently
only highlights the threat of such actors. The OPM hack took personal records for any government
employee whom had a security clearance provided by the United States government. The infringement
of personnel data by a group of hackers only raises the concern of privacy for a majority of security
clearance holders. Organizations have to look at all options to securing networks and data to ensure
the security mechanisms that are in place stand up to persistent threats. Most organizations can spend
extraordinary amounts of money to secure data and networks, but still leave vectors that a hacker can
exploit. Once all security aspects are in place a good resource is then to bring in ethical hackers or
White Hat hackers in to test the security of the system. The goal of ethical hacking is to uncover
vulnerabilities from an adversary s point of view so the security system can be improved. Ethical
hacking should be part of the organizations overall information risk management program, which
allows for constant security improvements. In the security life cycle, ethical hacking can be viewed as
a security assessment. Ethical hacking shows the

Gender And Age Differences In Servant Leadership Analysis
Both articles delivered exceptional valid information while providing reliable surveys. Surveys are a
good indication that the information provided isn t just someone s personal opinion but facts about any
given topic. Both articles alike were difficult to find using a combination of related keywords in the
search engine. For Gender and Age Differences in Servant Leadership, I used the extended search
option to gather a wider selection of articles related to the topic on leadership. The article, Book by

When you are born with certain characteristics, leadership can sometimes come easy. Like Dr. Brian
Hemphill said in the video, age does shape natural born qualities on leadership. A person at 10 years
old that is born with leadership qualities will think differently of those qualities at 40, 50, or 60 years
old. In order to gain a following, it is however important to posses these qualities. Courage is a quality
I have difficulty with. I have had this issue since I was a little girl and still struggle with it in my day
to day activities. I find is scary to step out of my comfort zone, especially if I am taking a big risk on
something. It is hard for me to have courage because I don t like rejection or failure. I have leaded by
watching this video that leaders don t become leaders in a shell. It is necessary to acquire courage and
perfect that quality. I could start practicing courage by giving myself courageous task weekly. An
example of this would be gaining enough courage to cast myself on the ballot for different employee

Holquest On Armenia
In Peter Holquest s The Politics and Practice of the Russian Occupation Armenia, he examines the
changes and goals of the Russian policies towards the Armenian community. Holquest begins to
explain that Russian policy towards Armenia during World War 1 was to dupe the Armenians. The
policy was to allow the Russians to use the Armenians against the Ottoman Turks; this was also a
means to annex Turkish Armenia. The policy remains unchanged from 1912 to early 1916; the
Russian government avoid any measures that might antagonize the Ottomans (3). The Russian
government began to realize that pressing reforms would antagonize the Ottomans and only cause
them to reject any sort of treaties or advice. As Turkey began to implement military operations against
in 1914, Russian looked at Armenians as allies and as an threat to the Ottomans. Nicholas II
proclaimed that a brilliant future awaits Armenia which was not entirely true due to anger under
tsarists rule. An interesting part of his writing is about colonization; Holquest tells the audience that
there were accounts that called for a Russian plan to prevent the return of Armenians (17). It came
from a memorandum which did not rely on Russian government s policy, but stems from the Ministry
of Agriculture s overarching agenda. The agenda was occupied lands and seek any means to achieve

Similarities Between Hidden Figures And Bend It Like Beckham
The movies Hidden Figures, and Bend it like Beckham, directed by Theodore Melfi and Gurinder
Chadha respectively, both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text
demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual
to strive. Through these texts, it is observed that people have no conscience about harming others until
they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe
behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like Beckham. Similarly, this is
shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that the abuse of power leads to
corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black and white people in Hidden
Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the Bhamra s in Bend it like
Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities rather than seeking it,
this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it
like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic about his culture. The
resolutions to both texts justify that determination comes from within and that though many factors
can outweigh a person s ability to triumph, consistency can lead to rewarding results. Through the use
of cinematic techniques we are able to further increase our understanding of perseverance

Adorno Criticize Pop Music
Moreover, Adorno criticizes pop music because it leads audiences to passive reaction. Adorno argues
that pop music tends to produce passive reactions, referring to an insect who has the jitters, who is
passively by light ( On Popular Music 45). But, in reality, audiences reactions to pop songs are more
active than he believes. For instance, Braca reviews the song by criticizing how social perception
about girls is skewed to the one side ( The One Thing ). More specifically, she first explains how
people have a stereotypical image of girls which is someone who manages appearance in feminine
features. For this reason, people generally imagine feminine outfit rather than causal one when we
think of girl image. In this view, one girl is better

Book Of Mormon Evaluation
Shows Improvement: The more I study the Book of Mormon the more I understand that it was written
for us. Sometimes I feel like the characters of the Book of Mormon are out of touch or hard to relate
to, but in reality they represent every facet of modern society. They help us see the good in the world,
they help us see the evil in our lives, and ultimately warn us from the swaying philosophies of the
world that lead men into sin. When I read about Nephi and his brothers and the fights that they had, I
think about the relationship that I have with my brothers; when I read about Sherem and Nehor, I think
about the dangerous and volatile philosophies of men that justify sin and denounce the teachings of
Chirst; and when I read about Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah, I think about the missionaries that
have touched my life and the kind of missionary that I hope to be. Every story and every character

the Book Mormon and gaining knowledge, but I have not been acting on what I have learned and I
ultimately have not changed, or have not become a better person. For the practicum I chose to improve
my personal prayer. The prophets in the Book of Mormon such as Nephi, Enos, and Alma testify of
the importance of prayer when it comes to personal conversion and guidance. During (and now after
my practicum) I understand how important communication with God is and how strengthened I feel
after I pray. When I study the Book of Mormon, now I try to identify doctrines and principles and how
I can apply them to my life. For example, when we read about Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah I tried

Essay On Scavenger
At the start of this book, it has been twenty years since the world fell apart . For one of the two main
characters, Peyton, the time Before is something she has never experienced only learned about from
stories. Freshly eighteen, she becomes the leader of The Mill, her home. The Mill is home to a group
called the Settlers, which Peyton s father was in charge of before his death.
The other main character is Nixie, a tiny female who belongs to the group called The Scavengers. The
Scavenger, unlike the Settlers, move from place to place and are not afraid to do whatever it takes to
get the supplies they need to survive: lie, steal, kill. Everything is fair game. Nixie has a special gift,
though, which makes her invaluable to her people. She is a dowser, someone who can sense and find
water with her body.

In all honesty, I don t know which emotion takes precedence. I have a certain soft spot for Dystopian
novels, and on that factor this book did not disappoint but there were also some big issues I had with
the plot. Usually, I wouldn t mind if there was no explanation as to why the world has become such a
wasteland but throughout The First Twenty, there is no explanation of anything. It is simply actions,
consequences (more often poorly executed ones), and more description of the two main characters
than anything else. There is no background. We are thrust into this decaying world, and not even those
from the Before say anything about what happened. Was it a nuclear war? Did the government
collapse? There were too many open ends that left for misunderstandings. This Before couldn t have

  • 2. Essay on The Development of Afro-Brazilian Religions The origin of Afro Brazilian religions is traced back to the Atlantic slave trade that took place in the 16th century . Portuguese people captured individuals from Bantu tribes and the other West African communities. The slave trade involved the transfer of these people to Brazil, where they were sold as slaves. The interaction of slaves from different cultural and religious backgrounds led to the development of the Afro Brazilian religions that consequently spread all over Brazil. The religions did not; however, develop at once since they faced opposition from the then government that recognized the Roman Catholic as the only religion in Brazil. Attempts by Africans to worship in their own culture were counteracted until in 1824 when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The slaves were therefore regarded as more educated than their masters due to their ability to read and write in Arabic. The slaves were transported to Bahia, a town in Brazil, where they provided labor for the Brazilians . The Bantu slaves were mainly drawn from the Congo and Angola where they survived as agriculturalists before they were captured and sold as slaves. The slaves were sold to Brazil to work in the large sugar plantations. Candomblé This is a traditional Brazil religion practiced by the Africans communities living there . The dance was performed to appease their gods. It is done in traditional styles derived from the Yoruba and Bantu traditions. The songs and dances were developed by African priests who were traded as slaves. The priests had strong African beliefs and had gained great experience on the task thus they could easily influence more followers. The religion had no formal scripture and the priests used the word of mouth to pass their message to their congregations. The believers were followers of a god by the name Oludumaré who they asserted was their creator. The oludumare has his servants called the Orishas. The Orishas are in every person and every Orisha is assigned an individual to offer protection. The believers organize a number of ceremonies each year to commemorate some important events. In the ceremonies, Candomblé songs fill the air. The believers also offer offerings to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Single Sex Instruction Is An Old Approach That Is... Single sex instruction is an old approach that is increasing new force. While single sex instruction has since a long time ago existed in numerous non public schools, it s a moderately new choice for state funded schools. The National Association for Single Sex Public Education gauges that around 400 government funded schools now offer some type of single sex training. What is filling this development? What s more, what are the dangers and advantages of single sex training? A main impetus in the single sex training development is late research demonstrating regular contrasts in how guys and females learn. Putting this examination into practice, in any case, has set off a level headed discussion that develops past unadulterated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Presenting the defense for single sex training The individuals who advocate for single sex training in government funded schools contend that: Ad Some guardians don t need their kids to be in blended sexual orientation classrooms in light of the fact that, particularly at specific ages, understudies of the inverse sex can be a diversion. Leonard Sax and others concur that simply setting young men in isolated classrooms from young ladies achieves little. Be that as it may, single sex training upgrades understudy achievement when educators use procedures intended for the sex of their understudies. Some examination demonstrates that young ladies learn better when classroom temperature is warm, while young men perform better in cooler classrooms. On the off chance that that is valid, then the temperature in a solitary sex classroom could be set to streamline the learning of either male or female understudies. Some exploration and reports from teachers propose that solitary sex training can widen the instructive prospects for both young ladies and young men. Advocates claim co ed schools have a tendency to strengthen sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. American Culture And Ruth s Irish Culture On this occasion, I found that my American culture and Ruth s Irish culture were actually quite different from our cultures as a while, but nonetheless comparable. We both share a strong (or high) uncertainty avoidance... [preferring] clear procedures and conflict avoidance behaviors (Ting Toomey Chung, p. 50). , which is something the United States culture is not known for. However, upon reflecting on the conversation that Ruth and I shared with our friend, neither of us openly demonstrated how uncomfortable we were with our friends bragging. We preferred instead to preform face saving motions, like congratulating them and acting interested. I think that sometimes our own personality and experiences can cause us to act in ways that may go against the mainstream culture. So when it comes to Ruth and I, maybe we simply have a stronger personality to avoid conflict than the cultures we may have been socialized in. When it comes to this conversation with our friend, and the fact that Ruth and I both tend to avoid conflict. Although, Ruth was visible uncomfortable with the bragging our friend was doing, she understood that she needed to be adaptive and realize that our friend may not understand that what they are doing could be uncomfortable. However, Ruth s nonverbal display of awkward glances at our friend and I, did give away that she was not completely adaptable. Given this, I think it is important for people to understand that we must express emotions and attitudes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dawson Lumber Company Last four digits of student ID #: Name of the business: Dawson Lumber Company Nature of the business: Wholesale Lumber Business Marketing Analysis: The Dawson Lumber Company was founded in the 1870s by the Dawson family to market the lumber on their land. In 1950, Dawson Lumber owned four small lumber yards in the Corn wall area, each operating as a separate company. However, in 1965, J.H. Dawson became president and amalgamated the four companies into the Dawson Lumber Company. The company had acquired seven more lumber yards north and west of Cornwall, Ontario but further growth was limited by J.H. Dawson s belief that growth should only be financed by internally generated funds. For over one hundred years, Dawson Lumber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Financial Analysis: Strictly speaking, at present the Dawson Lumber Company is being financed by a bank loan. The company s equity structure constitutes common stock capital amounting to $4.3 million and the accumulated earnings. Presently, the company s financing needs are met through two types of bank loans which include a working capital loan obtained specifically to meet the working capital requirements and the present long term loan amounting to 4.2 million. Both the loans are obtained from National bank of Canada (NBC). The NBC took accounts receivable and inventory as collateral and as a condition of the loan against the charge on the borrowed amount for which Dawson undertook to provide quarterly financial statements and monthly reports of inventory, sales and receivables. Now as far as the company s cash flow is concerned, the company has been suffered with very weak cash flows because inventory and receivables have increased which result in negative cash flows and due to increased in accounts payable resulting in positive cash flow thus overall cash generated from operations remain intact. However as mentioned above it is operational inefficiency due to delay in collection from customers resulting in delay in payments to creditor. The current ratio is at satisfactory level. Although the natives might have never made it to modern day like customs, the impact of the European exploration and colonization on the native people was through the conversion to Christianity; death/diseases; and the exchanges and teachings towards Natives. Without all the modifications the Europeans made on the Natives, and also colonizing in the Americas we wouldn t have mixed race population or event the today s united states. If the European explorers never came over to the US, some generations of family in today s time probably would have never existed. The map is drawn with an internal circular frame that simulates the effect of a magnifying class, as if pulling the locations (which are likely truly separated by several miles) that much closer together. The text box overlaying this image, resting inside the scope of the magnifying glass, informs the reader that this impression of proximity is simultaneously misleading, and accurate. So far, we have only seen it as misleading. However, if we compare the image produced by this map to the very next panel, we see an image that zooms in even closer and demonstrates how reluctant his family is to stray from their small town. The impression we are left with is that their home life is somewhat suffocating, especially as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing so, Bechdel has linked her father to Mr. Toad, whom she calls a charming sociopath (Bechdel 130). This link between Mr. Toad and Bruce Bechdel is significant in that Wind in the Willows map that follows because of the connection it renders. New meaning is found in the map as Alison draws parallels between the maps of both her home landscape and the setting of the children s novels. The image of Mr. Toad, perhaps still with the thought of Bruce linked to him, speeding towards the edge of the map in still life, also functions as a metaphor for her father s existence as he too became disenchanted (147). Three people were killed in a car crash on a highway that summer, the same highway her father would die on nine years later, and the impact of this event clearly has an influenced the way Alison processed the information. • 11. The European Union The European Union is committed to a challenging renewable energy goal of at least 27% of final energy consumption by renewable sources by 2030. While this goal is in part motivated by environmentally concerns, with commitments to climate change in mind, it is also politically motivated. Europe energy needs are currently heavily dependent on natural gas, which is mostly imported from Russia. This arrangement puts Europe in danger from Russian blockades and political pressure. The crash of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 renewed tensions between Brussels and Moscow. EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger has stated that a 30% energy reduction would prove a useful tool in ensuring European energy security. While there are plentiful opportunities for varied sources of renewable energy generation across Europe, issues arise in supplying this energy to the end consumer. The electrical transmission system has the difficult challenge of matching the current supply to the demand of the system by matching deficiencies in one area of production with abundances in another. In Europe this transmission system is comprised of multiple national transmission operators in a large central network with some additional mostly isolated networks. Increasing interconnection between these networks should result in increased efficiencies and robustness of the overall system. Additionally, the rise of electrically powered vehicles (EVs) will shift the considerable energy demand that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The introduction of the dome creates compelling social dynamics that would otherwise not have been possible. In many ways the dome is a microcosm of earth complete with its own conflicts, environmental disasters, and just about every social issue imaginable. The alien entities were equally thought provoking. From their perspective humans were nothing more than ants to be toyed with. They had no empathy or compassion, only pity. Julia Shumway s interaction with the entity causes an introspective evaluation on how we treat other people. James Big Jim Rennie steals the show as the novel s villain. Rennie is a bit of a paradox. • 13. The Cud Life Concert Analysis A few years ago, my cousin decided to take me to a concert as a birthday gift and I was so excited because it was going to be my first concert which was a huge deal. We went to go see hip hop artist, Kid Cudi on his The Cud Life tour. Prior to the concert, I had heard maybe one or two albums of his but I didn t really love him as much as my cousins did. After the concert, my life had been changed for I had been blessed; I was in the presence of a god. I remember, there was a point in which he was talking to the crowd and told us to forget about all of our problems and that that night was just about feeling good vibes and nothing less. Many people don t know who Kid Cudi is; some people think he is just the product of Kanye West, (another hip hop artist who took Cudi under his wing at the beginning of his music career), or they think of him as a one hit wonder for his single, Day N Nite , (which has a really bouncy, upbeat vibe and usually people play this song at clubs and parties) off of his most popular album, Man on The Moon: The End of Day . What people fail to realize is that Kid Cudi is actually a talented artist who has a legendary soul and the heart of a lion, and yes, his music could be rather explicit at times but that s part of what makes him great. ... Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state uses the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence. All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving. DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York, Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. The Hobbit tells us that we should take risks and experience new paths to make us have a better character. Women and African Americans are the citizens that have faced the most adversity in these problems, but they both also have overcame these adversities and made changes that would go on to change the nation forever. Before World War II, women faced pressure from society to stay at home and support a family while their husbands worked and had fun, and they lacked the rights and respect that men were already granted. Women previously had fought for higher education, but suddenly they were going to college to meet a husband, or they were not going to college at all, as they feared higher education would make marriage more difficult (Friedan, 1963). Women were gladly conforming to these expectations as they all aimed to have four or five kids, live in a suburban neighborhood where they could kiss their husband goodbye as they left for work and they could cook and clean while their children were at school. Many women even turned down job opportunities and claimed it was because all they ever wanted was to be a housewife (Friedan, 1963). However, women slowly began to realize their conformity was not what they wanted for themselves at all. In the 1960 s, many housewives reported that they had felt there was no point in their day to day routines, they had felt depressed in their own homes without a clue why, and getting so angry with their children it scared them. These women were afraid to admit that they wanted more for themselves besides their husband and children (Friedan, 1963). The Parti Quebecois believes that this would allow everyone to be treated equally, get rid of religious bias and protect religious neutrality. However, this would not support the multiculturalism in canada. Multiculturalism recognizes and supports the diversity of a province or nation s population. Jobs discriminate and separate genders, races, etc. in a workplace. This is not fair because it should not matter what you look like or who you are, we should all be treated the same no matter what. It is hard for someone to get a job because bosses can discriminate and that makes people not succeed. You should have to work towards the higher level position so you earn it and not just be given it because you are the gender the boss wants. Diversity should be acknowledged so everyone can have a chance to make a living and support their families. Companies need to be fair and treat everyone equally and not just by looks. Diversity means that everyone works together no matter what race, culture, gender they are. Workplaces should have diversity taken place in them so they succeed and people have to work with others no matter what. The concept of aesthetics describes what people of certain cultures tend to consider to be popular or in good taste (Wild Wild, 2014). To this extent, despite being mostly unified by a single language, Brazil represents such a diverse culture that regional aesthetic variances could almost seem like they were different countries altogether (Castano, Goossens, Terlouw, and Vliet, n.d.). The policy remains unchanged from 1912 to early 1916; the Russian government avoid any measures that might antagonize the Ottomans (3). Similarities Between Hidden Figures And Bend It Like Beckham The movies Hidden Figures, and Bend it like Beckham, directed by Theodore Melfi and Gurinder Chadha respectively, both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual to strive. Through these texts, it is observed that people have no conscience about harming others until they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like Beckham. Similarly, this is shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that the abuse of power leads to corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black and white people in Hidden Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the Bhamra s in Bend it like Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities rather than seeking it, this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic about his culture. When I read about Nephi and his brothers and the fights that they had, I think about the relationship that I have with my brothers; when I read about Sherem and Nehor, I think about the dangerous and volatile philosophies of men that justify sin and denounce the teachings of Chirst; and when I read about Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah, I think about the missionaries that have touched my life and the kind of missionary that I hope to be. Every story and every character relates to an experience of mine or an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The practicum made me understand how important it is to apply what you study. I have been studying the Book Mormon and gaining knowledge, but I have not been acting on what I have learned and I ultimately have not changed, or have not become a better person. For the practicum I chose to improve my personal prayer. The prophets in the Book of Mormon such as Nephi, Enos, and Alma testify of the importance of prayer when it comes to personal conversion and guidance. During (and now after my practicum) I understand how important communication with God is and how strengthened I feel after I pray. When I study the Book of Mormon, now I try to identify doctrines and principles and how I can apply them to my life. For example, when we read about Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah I tried to identify specific doctrine that I could apply about being a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Essay On Scavenger At the start of this book, it has been twenty years since the world fell apart . For one of the two main characters, Peyton, the time Before is something she has never experienced only learned about from stories. Freshly eighteen, she becomes the leader of The Mill, her home. The Mill is home to a group called the Settlers, which Peyton s father was in charge of before his death. The other main character is Nixie, a tiny female who belongs to the group called The Scavengers. The Scavenger, unlike the Settlers, move from place to place and are not afraid to do whatever it takes to get the supplies they need to survive: lie, steal, kill. Everything is fair game. Nixie has a special gift, though, which makes her invaluable to her people. She is a dowser, someone who can sense and find water with her body. The world we step into is one full of hatred, hard work, and suffering. There is a drought, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In all honesty, I don t know which emotion takes precedence. I have a certain soft spot for Dystopian novels, and on that factor this book did not disappoint but there were also some big issues I had with the plot. Usually, I wouldn t mind if there was no explanation as to why the world has become such a wasteland but throughout The First Twenty, there is no explanation of anything. It is simply actions, consequences (more often poorly executed ones), and more description of the two main characters than anything else. There is no background. We are thrust into this decaying world, and not even those from the Before say anything about what happened. Was it a nuclear war? Did the government collapse? There were too many open ends that left for misunderstandings. This Before couldn t have been that long ago, there are still plenty of people alive who remember what it was like and even still follow through with the same practices like using last names. If it was so recent, why don t we know anything about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
